- WEBVTT 00:00:11.449 --> 00:00:13.890 What's up, friends? Welcome into Episode 9 of 00:00:13.890 --> 00:00:16.289 Tables, Tailgates, and Top Loaders. So happy 00:00:16.289 --> 00:00:18.250 to have you all aboard for this episode. I am 00:00:18.250 --> 00:00:20.829 your host, TB. Thank you all very much for stopping 00:00:20.829 --> 00:00:23.620 in and checking out. the three Ts. We have a 00:00:23.620 --> 00:00:26.440 lot to get to, so let's not waste any time. Let's 00:00:26.440 --> 00:00:30.000 dive right in. I want to start off with this 00:00:30.000 --> 00:00:32.500 crazy story that has rocked the hobby world last 00:00:32.500 --> 00:00:35.039 week, involving potentially one of the biggest 00:00:35.039 --> 00:00:39.659 fraud operations in, well, in history. So the 00:00:39.659 --> 00:00:41.939 timeline, if you all have seen this, the timeline 00:00:41.939 --> 00:00:45.969 of this story is absolutely bonkers. Last Tuesday, 00:00:46.130 --> 00:00:48.490 July 15th, the Westfield Police Department, located 00:00:48.490 --> 00:00:51.969 in Indiana, they raided a warehouse belonging 00:00:51.969 --> 00:00:55.549 to a man named Brett Lemieux, and he's also known 00:00:55.549 --> 00:00:59.509 by the name Mr. Man Cave. Now, Brett has run 00:00:59.509 --> 00:01:02.490 this sports memorabilia business, Mr. Man Cave, 00:01:02.549 --> 00:01:05.390 for about 20 years, so two decades. Well, the 00:01:05.390 --> 00:01:07.750 police, they had a search warrant, and they hit 00:01:07.750 --> 00:01:10.390 his house, this warehouse he owned, and they 00:01:10.390 --> 00:01:13.189 seized enough property. from this warehouse to 00:01:13.189 --> 00:01:16.930 fill multiple semi -trucks. So that's how much 00:01:16.930 --> 00:01:19.109 stuff we're talking about. And all this product 00:01:19.109 --> 00:01:22.650 that they seized was tied to an illegal forgery 00:01:22.650 --> 00:01:25.709 and counterfeiting enterprise, which is crazy. 00:01:25.870 --> 00:01:29.750 So after the raid on Tuesday, so the police show 00:01:29.750 --> 00:01:31.670 up with a search warrant, all these semi -trucks 00:01:31.670 --> 00:01:34.109 take all this property. And then after the raid 00:01:34.109 --> 00:01:37.090 on Tuesday, Brett Lemieux, Mr. Mancave, goes 00:01:37.090 --> 00:01:41.200 on Facebook and essentially admits to... He basically 00:01:41.200 --> 00:01:46.260 writes a complete manifesto in which he goes 00:01:46.260 --> 00:01:49.799 into extreme details about how he ran this massive 00:01:49.799 --> 00:01:53.250 sports. memorabilia scam. He claims to have sold 00:01:53.250 --> 00:01:58.870 more than 4 million counterfeit items over the 00:01:58.870 --> 00:02:01.890 last 20 years, two decades, making, and what 00:02:01.890 --> 00:02:06.189 he claims, he made over $350 million along the 00:02:06.189 --> 00:02:08.289 way. Now, we're not just talking about baseball 00:02:08.289 --> 00:02:11.710 cards. We're talking about memorabilia that's 00:02:11.710 --> 00:02:14.669 been slapped with authentic, quote unquote, authentic 00:02:14.669 --> 00:02:18.250 autographs from the biggest names in sports. 00:02:20.750 --> 00:02:23.270 Football, Tom Brady, baseball with Aaron Judge, 00:02:23.590 --> 00:02:26.229 football, Patrick Mahomes, baseball, Derek Jeter, 00:02:26.310 --> 00:02:28.370 basketball, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, the 00:02:28.370 --> 00:02:30.310 list goes on and on. Some of the biggest names 00:02:30.310 --> 00:02:35.080 in current sports and in... memorabilia sales, 00:02:35.759 --> 00:02:38.479 essentially. So he goes into crazy details about 00:02:38.479 --> 00:02:41.099 companies he's worked with. I mean, he's name 00:02:41.099 --> 00:02:43.259 dropping Panini, he's name dropping Fanatics, 00:02:43.319 --> 00:02:46.300 he's calling out specific people who have helped 00:02:46.300 --> 00:02:48.639 him along the way and how they went about creating 00:02:48.639 --> 00:02:52.819 these fake autographs, fake holograms, fake authentication 00:02:52.819 --> 00:02:59.479 stickers, fake letters of authenticity. I mean, 00:02:59.539 --> 00:03:02.879 it's all in there. He details. everything in 00:03:02.879 --> 00:03:05.280 this Facebook post. It's a crazy, super long 00:03:05.280 --> 00:03:07.479 dissertation. And I'm reading this thing and 00:03:07.479 --> 00:03:11.319 I'm thinking, holy freaking crap, this is absolutely 00:03:11.319 --> 00:03:14.240 insane. So he talks about Kobe Bryant and how 00:03:14.240 --> 00:03:16.659 after he passed away, after his death, they released 00:03:16.659 --> 00:03:21.520 80 ,000 fake items into the sports memorabilia 00:03:21.520 --> 00:03:25.219 market. He talks about 100 ,000 fake Tom Brady 00:03:25.219 --> 00:03:28.419 items being out there, which if you know me. 00:03:28.810 --> 00:03:32.150 tb this really solidifies my point that he is 00:03:32.150 --> 00:03:35.870 actually the fake tb but you have mahomes aaron 00:03:35.870 --> 00:03:38.090 judge michael jordan we're talking about the 00:03:38.090 --> 00:03:40.030 biggest names in the collectible space people 00:03:40.030 --> 00:03:42.590 spending thousands upon thousands for autographs 00:03:42.590 --> 00:03:45.310 signed memorabilia and a huge portion of this 00:03:45.310 --> 00:03:48.349 stuff out in the market is now thought to be 00:03:48.349 --> 00:03:51.389 completely fake so he continues to write that 00:03:52.349 --> 00:03:54.610 this warehouse that was raided they the police 00:03:54.610 --> 00:03:57.789 they took five to seven hundred million five 00:03:57.789 --> 00:04:00.110 hundred to seven hundred million dollars worth 00:04:00.110 --> 00:04:02.990 of product and he says he just let it all happen 00:04:02.990 --> 00:04:06.310 he goes on to say he wants companies like fanatics 00:04:06.310 --> 00:04:08.969 and such to admit what's been going on and be 00:04:08.969 --> 00:04:11.370 forthcoming about where a lot of these autographs 00:04:11.370 --> 00:04:13.750 have come from he basically says he wants to 00:04:13.750 --> 00:04:16.490 ruin the industry it's straight bonkers he goes 00:04:16.490 --> 00:04:18.930 into detail about how he got these autograph 00:04:18.930 --> 00:04:22.449 pens and how he would learn to manufacture these 00:04:22.449 --> 00:04:25.829 signatures and it just became it became like 00:04:25.829 --> 00:04:28.810 an addiction and he just was making so much money 00:04:28.810 --> 00:04:31.189 that he just kept doing it over and over and 00:04:31.189 --> 00:04:35.819 it's crazy so then Wednesday The next day, police, 00:04:36.040 --> 00:04:39.339 so they raid the warehouse on Tuesday. He posts 00:04:39.339 --> 00:04:41.240 this thing on Facebook. Wednesday, the police 00:04:41.240 --> 00:04:43.699 show up to raid a second warehouse that he owns. 00:04:43.839 --> 00:04:46.379 And this is where the story takes an even darker 00:04:46.379 --> 00:04:48.540 turn. They show up to the second warehouse and 00:04:48.540 --> 00:04:51.300 they find a body in the second warehouse later 00:04:51.300 --> 00:04:54.040 identified as none other than Brett Lemieux. 00:04:54.160 --> 00:04:57.199 So apparently after he dropped his Facebook manifesto, 00:04:57.199 --> 00:05:00.600 he goes to his other warehouse and he shoots 00:05:00.600 --> 00:05:03.379 himself, which is crazy sad. It's just unreal. 00:05:04.620 --> 00:05:08.800 Insane. So yeah, I mean, things get dark really 00:05:08.800 --> 00:05:11.800 quick. So in addition to this Mr. Man Cave persona 00:05:11.800 --> 00:05:14.740 and business that he ran, he also ran an online 00:05:14.740 --> 00:05:18.139 eBay store called Break the Bank Autos, which 00:05:18.139 --> 00:05:22.120 according to eBay, it showed 21 ,000 items have 00:05:22.120 --> 00:05:25.420 been sold through his account up to July 17th. 00:05:25.439 --> 00:05:27.819 And again, these were autographed items from 00:05:27.819 --> 00:05:31.839 superstars. Derek Jeter, Joe Montana, the list 00:05:31.839 --> 00:05:35.180 goes on and on. The account. As of now, as of, 00:05:35.180 --> 00:05:38.139 I don't know, as of today, the account has since 00:05:38.139 --> 00:05:40.319 been removed. I'm not exactly sure when they 00:05:40.319 --> 00:05:43.079 cut the account, but a few days ago. So the account 00:05:43.079 --> 00:05:45.360 is no longer active. There's no way around this. 00:05:45.399 --> 00:05:48.220 This is a huge story. And I'm kind of a little 00:05:48.220 --> 00:05:50.500 surprised that it's not getting more traction. 00:05:50.699 --> 00:05:54.199 I mean, a lot of people could be out tons and 00:05:54.199 --> 00:05:56.800 tons of money if what is alleged to have happened 00:05:56.800 --> 00:05:59.399 is actually true. Some people are saying, well, 00:05:59.500 --> 00:06:01.459 he was probably exaggerating. Some of the figures 00:06:01.459 --> 00:06:06.089 don't really make sense. But regardless. If 50%, 00:06:06.089 --> 00:06:09.290 75 % of the numbers he's talking about are actually 00:06:09.290 --> 00:06:11.350 true, I mean, we're talking about potentially 00:06:11.350 --> 00:06:15.930 one of, if not the biggest scam in the history 00:06:15.930 --> 00:06:19.670 of sports memorabilia. And I have a feeling more 00:06:19.670 --> 00:06:21.629 and more of this story is going to continue to 00:06:21.629 --> 00:06:23.410 be uncovered over the next few weeks, months, 00:06:23.569 --> 00:06:25.730 maybe even years. I mean, I think this is going 00:06:25.730 --> 00:06:29.569 to be huge. And I really hope nobody tries to 00:06:29.569 --> 00:06:32.009 cover this stuff up. But the weird thing that 00:06:32.009 --> 00:06:35.220 I was... kind of figuring out or finding as i'm 00:06:35.220 --> 00:06:37.720 digging into this story the sad part is i've 00:06:37.720 --> 00:06:41.420 run i read a ton of articles on this and the 00:06:41.420 --> 00:06:44.439 fact that this guy brett lemieux committed suicide 00:06:44.439 --> 00:06:47.300 is almost an afterthought in this whole story 00:06:47.300 --> 00:06:49.759 and it's like You look at all these insane details 00:06:49.759 --> 00:06:52.199 and you're reading all this stuff and then it's 00:06:52.199 --> 00:06:54.079 just kind of tucked in there at the end of the 00:06:54.079 --> 00:06:56.120 article. Oh, yeah, by the way, he killed himself. 00:06:56.300 --> 00:06:58.399 And it's just like, really? This is kind of what 00:06:58.399 --> 00:07:01.240 we've come to as a society, I guess, which I 00:07:01.240 --> 00:07:04.560 don't really want to go down that path. But anyway, 00:07:04.759 --> 00:07:07.779 it's nuts. It's just absolutely nuts. So let's 00:07:07.779 --> 00:07:09.740 try to change our attention to something hopefully 00:07:09.740 --> 00:07:12.220 a little more positive and talk about some car 00:07:12.220 --> 00:07:14.709 releases. Now, I have to say. I have to say. 00:07:14.769 --> 00:07:17.829 Maybe it's because I just don't collect basketball 00:07:17.829 --> 00:07:21.220 stuff anymore. Now, I did when I was a kid. Loved 00:07:21.220 --> 00:07:24.000 collecting like Skybox and NBA hoops and things 00:07:24.000 --> 00:07:26.339 like that. But I haven't gotten back into basketball 00:07:26.339 --> 00:07:28.519 the way I've gotten back into some of this other 00:07:28.519 --> 00:07:30.399 stuff. But I went to Walmart the other day. I 00:07:30.399 --> 00:07:33.079 go to the card aisle and I said this before that 00:07:33.079 --> 00:07:35.720 this Walmart, this local Walmart is an awful 00:07:35.720 --> 00:07:38.540 place to find product. But the whole shelf, at 00:07:38.540 --> 00:07:40.899 least the product that's actually in stock, the 00:07:40.899 --> 00:07:43.699 entire shelf is made up of nothing but basketball 00:07:43.699 --> 00:07:46.000 cards. And I'm like, what the heck is going on? 00:07:46.060 --> 00:07:48.339 At least five to seven different basketball products. 00:07:48.480 --> 00:07:50.910 Is no one buying this stuff? Because it's all 00:07:50.910 --> 00:07:53.189 I can find. It's all I can find anywhere. And 00:07:53.189 --> 00:07:55.709 apparently, not only do I not want it, but no 00:07:55.709 --> 00:07:58.870 one else wants it. Now, all I want to see when 00:07:58.870 --> 00:08:02.430 I go check out a card aisle is a nice mix of 00:08:02.430 --> 00:08:04.930 stuff. You know, if I go to a card wall, I want 00:08:04.930 --> 00:08:08.040 to see it like... spread out like Thanksgiving 00:08:08.040 --> 00:08:09.980 dinner, right? I want a little bit of everything. 00:08:10.139 --> 00:08:12.279 I want choices, people. Give me some freaking 00:08:12.279 --> 00:08:14.660 choices. Stop with an entire wall basketball 00:08:14.660 --> 00:08:16.899 product that no one wants. Give me some choices. 00:08:17.000 --> 00:08:18.980 Give me the four main sports, so baseball, football, 00:08:19.160 --> 00:08:21.699 basketball, hockey. Throw in some UFC maybe, 00:08:21.819 --> 00:08:24.759 maybe some auto racing, which quick side note, 00:08:24.819 --> 00:08:27.759 I went to see the F1 movie, by the way, and it 00:08:27.759 --> 00:08:30.300 was awesome. Brad Pitt, I know a lot of people 00:08:30.300 --> 00:08:32.120 don't like Brad Pitt, but his movies are pretty 00:08:32.120 --> 00:08:35.230 good, pretty great. It was super fun. I mean, 00:08:35.250 --> 00:08:38.470 it was a blast. It was a fun, fun movie to watch. 00:08:38.610 --> 00:08:41.809 So now as a result of seeing freaking F1, I want 00:08:41.809 --> 00:08:44.590 to start opening maybe some F1 cards. So maybe 00:08:44.590 --> 00:08:46.909 you should make the product available someplace. 00:08:47.090 --> 00:08:50.049 Give me some choices, people. Give me some choices. 00:08:50.210 --> 00:08:53.950 WWE, God forbid you are a WWE fan and you're 00:08:53.950 --> 00:08:56.230 trying to find some product. You cannot find 00:08:56.230 --> 00:08:59.269 this anywhere, anywhere. There's no sealed WWE 00:08:59.269 --> 00:09:02.360 chrome on. shelves, retail shelves, anywhere. 00:09:02.659 --> 00:09:06.600 And the prices, the secondary market prices for 00:09:06.600 --> 00:09:10.500 WWE Chrome is ridiculous. I don't know what Topps 00:09:10.500 --> 00:09:13.139 was thinking back in January, but if you remember 00:09:13.139 --> 00:09:17.740 the WWE Topps Chrome release, it's back in January. 00:09:17.899 --> 00:09:20.940 It sells out instantly. Hobby boxes are now $600, 00:09:21.100 --> 00:09:24.399 $700. Mega boxes are $100 to $150. Blaster boxes 00:09:24.399 --> 00:09:28.159 are $80. And I'm like, what is happening? This 00:09:28.159 --> 00:09:32.059 is insane. Where are the other releases? Topps 00:09:32.059 --> 00:09:35.820 got the licensing deal to WWE and they promised 00:09:35.820 --> 00:09:38.840 that during 2025, there was going to be four 00:09:38.840 --> 00:09:42.899 to five new card releases of WWE product. And 00:09:42.899 --> 00:09:45.639 we are now in almost August and we've gotten 00:09:45.639 --> 00:09:48.340 one that debuted all the way back in January 00:09:48.340 --> 00:09:50.659 and it's so expensive, nobody can buy it. So 00:09:50.659 --> 00:09:53.379 what is going on? Whoever's doing the distribution, 00:09:53.740 --> 00:09:56.059 y 'all got to get your stuff together. Nobody's 00:09:56.059 --> 00:09:57.919 buying your basketball product. Take it off the 00:09:57.919 --> 00:09:59.840 shelf. Replace it with something else. Give us 00:09:59.840 --> 00:10:03.799 something else. Anyway, it's super frustrating. 00:10:03.960 --> 00:10:06.710 It's super frustrating. And I know... That people 00:10:06.710 --> 00:10:08.750 are like, well, that's retail for you. You should 00:10:08.750 --> 00:10:10.870 be buying hobby boxes. Yeah, well, you know what, 00:10:10.970 --> 00:10:13.970 people? Not everybody can afford $300 to $800 00:10:13.970 --> 00:10:17.250 for a hobby box because it's not just about chasing 00:10:17.250 --> 00:10:19.950 autographs. People actually like to collect cards, 00:10:20.090 --> 00:10:22.730 which leads me to my next point. The Superman 00:10:22.730 --> 00:10:25.250 movie came out. So far, it seems to be a huge 00:10:25.250 --> 00:10:27.509 commercial success and people seem to like it. 00:10:27.610 --> 00:10:30.330 And a few days ago, Upper Deck released a new 00:10:30.330 --> 00:10:33.590 Superman product called Fleer Brilliance. Now, 00:10:33.649 --> 00:10:36.080 this is not based off the movie. It's based off 00:10:36.080 --> 00:10:38.960 the actual comic book world, but I've looked 00:10:38.960 --> 00:10:41.659 into this a little bit. I got to say I'm a little 00:10:41.659 --> 00:10:43.899 excited about it. I've been diving back into 00:10:43.899 --> 00:10:46.220 the comic world lately. I've been reading a ton 00:10:46.220 --> 00:10:48.360 of different stuff to find kind of what I like, 00:10:48.360 --> 00:10:49.919 what I don't like. I've been reading a lot of 00:10:49.919 --> 00:10:53.809 Superman comics. actually had a GameStop gift 00:10:53.809 --> 00:10:56.149 card. And what I did, I got on there, ordered 00:10:56.149 --> 00:10:59.309 me up a mega box of this Superman FLIR Brilliance 00:10:59.309 --> 00:11:02.490 product. And I can't wait to dive into this thing. 00:11:02.549 --> 00:11:04.750 The base set is only 90 cards, so it shouldn't 00:11:04.750 --> 00:11:06.990 be that hard to put the set together. Now in 00:11:06.990 --> 00:11:09.330 this series, this release, there's no hobby box 00:11:09.330 --> 00:11:13.370 option. There's no autographs. So all you get 00:11:13.370 --> 00:11:17.240 as your... Options are mega boxes and three different 00:11:17.240 --> 00:11:19.879 blaster variations. So depending on what retail 00:11:19.879 --> 00:11:21.879 store you buy it in, whether it's Walmart, Target, 00:11:22.059 --> 00:11:24.179 GameStop, you get a different blaster variation 00:11:24.179 --> 00:11:27.220 with different parallels. But in the mega box, 00:11:27.360 --> 00:11:30.659 the mega box runs you about 50 bucks. You get 00:11:30.659 --> 00:11:33.879 70 cards in a mega. There's some numbered stuff 00:11:33.879 --> 00:11:36.179 in there, some parallels. And I looked at the 00:11:36.179 --> 00:11:38.500 inserts. Some of these inserts are awesome. I 00:11:38.500 --> 00:11:40.679 love, they have an insert called classic covers, 00:11:40.820 --> 00:11:44.639 which showcases a classic comic book cover throughout 00:11:44.639 --> 00:11:46.779 history. These are cool. These are really cool. 00:11:46.899 --> 00:11:48.899 And then what I think is going to be your big 00:11:48.899 --> 00:11:51.179 chase of the product. There's an insert called 00:11:51.179 --> 00:11:54.259 last son of Krypton, which these are really cool. 00:11:54.360 --> 00:11:55.779 And they're probably going to be super tough 00:11:55.779 --> 00:11:57.919 to pull, but it's going to be a cool product. 00:11:58.019 --> 00:12:00.019 I'm really looking forward to ripping it. So 00:12:00.019 --> 00:12:03.120 there we. go anyway let's turn our attention 00:12:03.120 --> 00:12:06.600 to the gridiron to the world of the buffalo bills 00:12:06.600 --> 00:12:09.799 bills mafia how are we feeling this week training 00:12:09.799 --> 00:12:12.820 camp is about to get underway we are about to 00:12:12.820 --> 00:12:15.480 jump right back or at least i know i'm about 00:12:15.480 --> 00:12:17.820 to jump right back on the hype train i'm ready 00:12:17.820 --> 00:12:20.940 for my hope meter to start filling up again if 00:12:20.940 --> 00:12:23.759 you listen to the podcast uh an episode ago you 00:12:23.759 --> 00:12:25.500 know exactly what i'm talking about but i'm getting 00:12:25.500 --> 00:12:27.600 fired up for some football i'm getting excited 00:12:27.600 --> 00:12:31.350 bills fans i wanted to look at the upcoming schedule 00:12:31.350 --> 00:12:33.889 of this episode. And I wanted to kind of break 00:12:33.889 --> 00:12:36.330 it down just a little bit differently because 00:12:36.330 --> 00:12:38.909 everyone seems to be attacking this thing. One 00:12:38.909 --> 00:12:40.690 week at a time, you know, you start at week one, 00:12:40.730 --> 00:12:42.330 you go through the end of the season, blah, blah, 00:12:42.330 --> 00:12:43.830 blah, blah. Yeah, that's boring. No one cares. 00:12:43.970 --> 00:12:46.029 No, no, thanks. I don't want to do it. I want 00:12:46.029 --> 00:12:48.029 to take a different spin. And what I want to 00:12:48.029 --> 00:12:50.049 do is I want to view the schedule by ranking 00:12:50.049 --> 00:12:51.830 the opposing quarterbacks that bills are going 00:12:51.830 --> 00:12:53.809 to be facing off against during the upcoming 00:12:53.809 --> 00:12:56.509 season. So I took a quick look at the teams. 00:12:56.629 --> 00:12:58.990 I looked at their quarterbacks and I asked myself, 00:12:59.049 --> 00:13:01.570 how important are each one of these games? Is 00:13:01.570 --> 00:13:04.590 the importance of the game tied to how I feel 00:13:04.590 --> 00:13:07.250 about the opposing quarterback? So do I look 00:13:07.250 --> 00:13:08.830 at this game? Do I? think it's important and 00:13:08.830 --> 00:13:11.769 is that level of importance tied to how i feel 00:13:11.769 --> 00:13:13.929 about the opposite quarterback i looked at two 00:13:13.929 --> 00:13:16.730 factors number one do i freaking hate the guy 00:13:16.730 --> 00:13:19.129 and number two do i fear the guy who's breaking 00:13:19.129 --> 00:13:21.649 the huddle for the other team so i created a 00:13:21.649 --> 00:13:24.690 totally non -scientific survey which i sent to 00:13:24.690 --> 00:13:27.429 friends and family some willing maybe unwilling 00:13:27.429 --> 00:13:30.909 participants who knows i'm not sure but they 00:13:30.909 --> 00:13:32.970 all filled it out anyway i asked them to rate 00:13:32.970 --> 00:13:36.340 these quarterbacks on love -hate scale and on 00:13:36.340 --> 00:13:38.899 a fear factor scale so first scale love -hate 00:13:38.899 --> 00:13:41.879 scale one to five possible points that are broken 00:13:41.879 --> 00:13:45.379 down like this you get one point if you love 00:13:45.379 --> 00:13:47.179 the quarterback meaning if you weren't rooting 00:13:47.179 --> 00:13:49.860 for the Bills if they weren't your team This 00:13:49.860 --> 00:13:51.960 guy, you love him so much, you would buy a jersey. 00:13:52.080 --> 00:13:54.139 So one point. Two points if you think, yeah, 00:13:54.139 --> 00:13:55.840 this guy's pretty cool. He's pretty easy to root 00:13:55.840 --> 00:13:58.379 for. Three points if you have no opinion, you 00:13:58.379 --> 00:14:00.679 don't really care either way. Four points if 00:14:00.679 --> 00:14:02.940 this quarterback gets on your nerves and you 00:14:02.940 --> 00:14:05.860 are definitely not a fan. And then five points. 00:14:06.299 --> 00:14:08.379 If this is my favorite five points, if you want 00:14:08.379 --> 00:14:11.179 to punch his stupid face. So there you go. One 00:14:11.179 --> 00:14:13.340 to five possible points. Love hate scale. Second 00:14:13.340 --> 00:14:15.340 scale. This is the fear factor scale. Again, 00:14:15.460 --> 00:14:17.399 we're using one to five points. It's broken down 00:14:17.399 --> 00:14:19.440 like this. You get one point if you think the 00:14:19.440 --> 00:14:21.700 quarterback is a total joke and you have absolutely 00:14:21.700 --> 00:14:23.980 no worries about this guy whatsoever. You get 00:14:23.980 --> 00:14:26.220 two points if you think they pose really no kind 00:14:26.220 --> 00:14:28.740 of major threat. Three points if you think they 00:14:28.740 --> 00:14:31.220 could sometimes be an issue, so like flip a coin, 00:14:31.299 --> 00:14:34.279 50 -50. Four points if this QB makes you nervous, 00:14:34.340 --> 00:14:36.240 if he kind of gives you the sweaty palm feeling. 00:14:36.440 --> 00:14:38.559 And five points if you think that the opposing 00:14:38.559 --> 00:14:41.720 quarterback is a total season wrecker. So there 00:14:41.720 --> 00:14:44.370 you go. Those are the two scales. I had everybody 00:14:44.370 --> 00:14:46.450 fill out these surveys. I then totaled up the 00:14:46.450 --> 00:14:48.330 points and I ranked them from smallest point 00:14:48.330 --> 00:14:50.750 total to highest point total, creating what I 00:14:50.750 --> 00:14:54.330 call an importance scale. Here is the 2025 bill 00:14:54.330 --> 00:14:57.610 schedule according to this very extreme scientific 00:14:57.610 --> 00:15:00.970 survey based on hate and fear. So here we go. 00:15:01.009 --> 00:15:03.389 The least important game of the year. We start 00:15:03.389 --> 00:15:06.509 off with week four, home against the New Orleans 00:15:06.509 --> 00:15:09.990 Saints and possibly, possibly now because I couldn't 00:15:09.990 --> 00:15:12.600 really. have the Saints. They weren't locked 00:15:12.600 --> 00:15:15.139 into their starter, but as of right now, it's 00:15:15.139 --> 00:15:17.500 Spencer Rattler. The reviews were in from all 00:15:17.500 --> 00:15:19.820 the people who did my survey, and it was unanimous. 00:15:19.840 --> 00:15:22.600 Everyone said this guy's a total joke. He had 00:15:22.600 --> 00:15:24.779 the lowest fear factor by far of all the opposing 00:15:24.779 --> 00:15:28.000 quarterbacks, and as far as likability, all but 00:15:28.000 --> 00:15:30.340 one seemed to not really care about him in the 00:15:30.340 --> 00:15:33.059 slightest. Now, I did have one person who fell 00:15:33.059 --> 00:15:35.159 out of the survey said they saw a Netflix show 00:15:35.159 --> 00:15:38.580 about six years ago and they've hated them since 00:15:38.580 --> 00:15:40.820 so shout out mike i don't know what you're watching 00:15:40.820 --> 00:15:44.100 but mike hates spencer rattler there you go saints 00:15:44.100 --> 00:15:46.460 week four this is at the very bottom this game 00:15:46.460 --> 00:15:48.600 should be a win no doubt next on the list we 00:15:48.600 --> 00:15:50.799 have a tie because joe flacco of the browns and 00:15:50.799 --> 00:15:53.740 justin fields of the jets came in tied so we're 00:15:53.740 --> 00:15:56.519 looking at week 18 on the road in cleveland and 00:15:56.519 --> 00:15:58.919 we're guessing that flacco is going to be the 00:15:58.919 --> 00:16:01.759 starter and i kind of wondered If the season 00:16:01.759 --> 00:16:04.580 gets rolling and they decide to change it up 00:16:04.580 --> 00:16:07.159 and maybe go with Shadur Sanders, I wonder how 00:16:07.159 --> 00:16:09.139 the poll results would change. But for now, for 00:16:09.139 --> 00:16:11.980 now, we're going to go with Joe Flacco. He's 00:16:11.980 --> 00:16:13.759 relatively likable. What are you going to do? 00:16:13.779 --> 00:16:16.450 It's Joe Flacco. Nobody seems to think he's a 00:16:16.450 --> 00:16:18.470 threat. And then tied with Flacco, of course, 00:16:18.470 --> 00:16:20.870 is Justin Fields. We see Justin Fields and the 00:16:20.870 --> 00:16:23.450 Jets on the road in week two. And we also see 00:16:23.450 --> 00:16:25.350 them to close out the regular season at home 00:16:25.350 --> 00:16:27.750 in week 18. Now, same with Fields. With Fields, 00:16:27.830 --> 00:16:29.570 I kind of always thought that this guy never 00:16:29.570 --> 00:16:32.210 really got a legit shot. I thought the Steelers 00:16:32.210 --> 00:16:34.090 kind of did him dirty. He seems like a likable, 00:16:34.110 --> 00:16:36.269 hardworking guy. And it's just never really all 00:16:36.269 --> 00:16:38.549 come together for you. for him but i think he 00:16:38.549 --> 00:16:41.149 has some tools i think he can be good but there 00:16:41.149 --> 00:16:43.590 you go i think in my opinion the bills win all 00:16:43.590 --> 00:16:46.110 three of these matchups uh next up on the important 00:16:46.110 --> 00:16:49.070 scale week six monday night in hotlanta against 00:16:49.070 --> 00:16:51.970 the falcons and michael pennix jr now he doesn't 00:16:51.970 --> 00:16:53.590 really have much of a track record and i think 00:16:53.590 --> 00:16:55.909 that's what's ultimately affected his score here 00:16:55.909 --> 00:16:59.110 but regardless if i'm looking at week six in 00:16:59.110 --> 00:17:01.090 atlanta against the falcons and michael pennix 00:17:01.090 --> 00:17:03.429 nobody's really fearing him and nobody really 00:17:03.429 --> 00:17:05.930 cares about him so this is a bills win then we 00:17:05.930 --> 00:17:08.660 have coming in Next is another tie, and this 00:17:08.660 --> 00:17:10.660 is the first spot on the survey where things 00:17:10.660 --> 00:17:13.599 get a little tricky. We have week eight on the 00:17:13.599 --> 00:17:15.460 road against Bryce Young. Now, this is fine. 00:17:15.559 --> 00:17:18.700 So far, so good. Young came in at the end of 00:17:18.700 --> 00:17:20.740 last year, or he started to play really well 00:17:20.740 --> 00:17:22.579 at the end of last year. I know the beginning 00:17:22.579 --> 00:17:24.920 was a little bit of a hot mess, but he really 00:17:24.920 --> 00:17:27.160 turned it on. He started playing. a lot better. 00:17:27.259 --> 00:17:29.500 Hey, maybe he can keep things rolling there with 00:17:29.500 --> 00:17:31.500 the Panthers. Maybe they can keep adding pieces 00:17:31.500 --> 00:17:34.180 around him. And maybe in a year or two, they 00:17:34.180 --> 00:17:36.720 crack the playoffs. But for now, he's not a threat, 00:17:36.799 --> 00:17:39.660 but he seems like he's easy to root for. So that's 00:17:39.660 --> 00:17:41.700 what brought him up the list a little bit. But 00:17:41.700 --> 00:17:45.710 he's tied with C .J. Stroud and the... Week 12 00:17:45.710 --> 00:17:48.569 matchup on the road against the Houston Texans 00:17:48.569 --> 00:17:51.869 on Thursday night. In my opinion, I think this 00:17:51.869 --> 00:17:53.789 game should be higher on the importance list, 00:17:53.930 --> 00:17:57.009 but Stroud kind of throws off the results of 00:17:57.009 --> 00:17:58.569 what I thought was going to happen because he 00:17:58.569 --> 00:18:00.710 seems like a pretty likable dude, at least according 00:18:00.710 --> 00:18:03.869 to the people who filled out my survey, and I 00:18:03.869 --> 00:18:05.829 didn't get anybody who wanted to punch his stupid 00:18:05.829 --> 00:18:08.410 face. So people think he can be a problem, and 00:18:08.410 --> 00:18:10.809 there are a few that... Said CJ Schraub made 00:18:10.809 --> 00:18:13.009 them nervous, but nobody seems to hate his guts. 00:18:13.069 --> 00:18:15.630 So this game gets dropped down on the importance 00:18:15.630 --> 00:18:18.450 list. Then we have a three -way tie. And look, 00:18:18.529 --> 00:18:20.990 I know we shouldn't have three -way ties, but 00:18:20.990 --> 00:18:23.670 science isn't always exact. So here are the results. 00:18:23.690 --> 00:18:25.769 And I just got to go with what the people tell 00:18:25.769 --> 00:18:27.970 me because science is science. But we have Tua 00:18:27.970 --> 00:18:31.069 and the Dolphins for weeks 3 and 10. And Tua 00:18:31.069 --> 00:18:33.130 is tied with Drake May and the Patriots for weeks 00:18:33.130 --> 00:18:38.200 5 and 15. And third. In this tie is Baker Mayfield 00:18:38.200 --> 00:18:40.839 and the Tampa Bay Bucks coming to Orchard Park 00:18:40.839 --> 00:18:44.500 in week 11. Now, Tua, in my opinion, well, not 00:18:44.500 --> 00:18:46.339 only in my opinion, but according to the survey 00:18:46.339 --> 00:18:48.720 results, Tua is seen as a joke of a quarterback 00:18:48.720 --> 00:18:50.980 and no threat, and he's not really that well 00:18:50.980 --> 00:18:54.880 -liked, so it kind of drives his score up. I 00:18:54.880 --> 00:18:57.259 had one person that even wanted to punch Tua's 00:18:57.259 --> 00:19:00.099 stupid face, but there you go. Drake May, he's 00:19:00.099 --> 00:19:02.140 seen as a middle -of -the -road quarterback option. 00:19:02.240 --> 00:19:04.140 He doesn't really push the fear factor needle 00:19:04.140 --> 00:19:06.440 too much, but people don't really care about 00:19:06.440 --> 00:19:08.619 him on the likability scale one way or the other, 00:19:08.720 --> 00:19:11.559 and that's what drove his score to tie with Tua. 00:19:11.740 --> 00:19:14.880 And then Baker is one of the most likable quarterbacks 00:19:14.880 --> 00:19:17.839 on the entire list, but he definitely makes people 00:19:17.839 --> 00:19:20.220 nervous. The Bucks are a good team, and I think 00:19:20.220 --> 00:19:21.740 this is going to be a tough matchup, so that's 00:19:21.740 --> 00:19:25.200 what drove his... overall numbers up. Then we 00:19:25.200 --> 00:19:27.220 get to the top five games of importance on the 00:19:27.220 --> 00:19:29.779 schedule. So here we go. The fifth most important 00:19:29.779 --> 00:19:32.660 game, according to these rankings, we have week 00:19:32.660 --> 00:19:35.720 13 on the road against the Pittsburgh Steelers 00:19:35.720 --> 00:19:37.900 and Aaron Rodgers. Now here's the funny thing. 00:19:37.980 --> 00:19:41.259 Most people ranked Rodgers as not being a threat 00:19:41.259 --> 00:19:45.440 at all, but multiple, multiple people wanted 00:19:45.440 --> 00:19:47.500 to punch his stupid face, which threw his score 00:19:47.500 --> 00:19:51.900 way up the charts. It just goes to show you that 00:19:51.900 --> 00:19:55.779 hatred is real and just as important as how good 00:19:55.779 --> 00:19:59.259 you are if we're looking at the importance of 00:19:59.259 --> 00:20:01.720 a game. So everyone wants to beat the Steelers 00:20:01.720 --> 00:20:04.259 because they hate freaking Aaron Rodgers. Working 00:20:04.259 --> 00:20:06.640 our way up the list from that point, number four. 00:20:07.309 --> 00:20:09.930 The fourth most important game of the season, 00:20:10.309 --> 00:20:13.130 we have Week 14 at home against Joe Burrow and 00:20:13.130 --> 00:20:15.650 the Cincinnati Bengals. Now, Cool Joe's love 00:20:15.650 --> 00:20:18.029 -hate ranking was kind of all over the place. 00:20:18.069 --> 00:20:19.730 Some people loved him, some people hated him, 00:20:19.730 --> 00:20:22.890 but his fear factor was extremely high. He even 00:20:22.890 --> 00:20:26.210 had some season -wrecking points. He scored in 00:20:26.210 --> 00:20:28.710 that five -point category multiple times, so 00:20:28.710 --> 00:20:31.490 it really threw the importance of this game. 00:20:31.880 --> 00:20:34.859 up the list so now we're seeing that the quality 00:20:34.859 --> 00:20:37.619 of the quarterback that we're facing really is 00:20:37.619 --> 00:20:40.039 starting to impact the game three games to go 00:20:40.039 --> 00:20:43.119 number three of most important games on the season 00:20:43.640 --> 00:20:45.859 The home opener against the Baltimore Ravens 00:20:45.859 --> 00:20:48.579 and Lamar Jackson. Now Lamar scored a bunch of 00:20:48.579 --> 00:20:51.700 season record points and he fell right in the 00:20:51.700 --> 00:20:53.339 middle of the love -hate scale, which brought 00:20:53.339 --> 00:20:56.619 this game down a notch to the three spot. Now 00:20:56.619 --> 00:20:59.319 I think in my opinion, this game, this home opener 00:20:59.319 --> 00:21:01.539 against the Ravens is the most important game 00:21:01.539 --> 00:21:04.619 on the schedule. I will not hold anything back. 00:21:04.720 --> 00:21:06.750 I think this... is the most important game on 00:21:06.750 --> 00:21:08.609 the schedule because I think the Bills and the 00:21:08.609 --> 00:21:10.829 Ravens are the two best teams in the AFC. But 00:21:10.829 --> 00:21:13.230 again, I can't fight science, so it comes in 00:21:13.230 --> 00:21:15.670 here at number three. And then coming in as the 00:21:15.670 --> 00:21:17.490 second most important game of the year, Week 00:21:17.490 --> 00:21:20.009 17 at home versus Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia 00:21:20.009 --> 00:21:23.799 Eagles. Now Hurts got some... Face punching points 00:21:23.799 --> 00:21:26.579 as well as making a ton of people nervous to 00:21:26.579 --> 00:21:28.900 play him and the Eagles. I get it. The Eagles 00:21:28.900 --> 00:21:30.799 are Super Bowl winners. It's a very solid team 00:21:30.799 --> 00:21:33.319 all around. But I think the Eagles are just so 00:21:33.319 --> 00:21:36.759 good that they elevate the quarterback in this 00:21:36.759 --> 00:21:39.579 situation. It's tough to rank this game here. 00:21:39.759 --> 00:21:42.000 I would never put this as the second most important 00:21:42.000 --> 00:21:45.839 game because they're an NFC opponent. So in my 00:21:45.839 --> 00:21:49.180 opinion, it could never be as important as the 00:21:49.180 --> 00:21:52.200 game against the Ravens or other AFC teams. It 00:21:52.200 --> 00:21:54.960 is what it is, and science says on the important 00:21:54.960 --> 00:21:57.420 scale, they come in at number two. And finally 00:21:57.420 --> 00:22:00.099 coming in as the most important game on the 2025 00:22:00.099 --> 00:22:03.119 Bills schedule, week nine at home against Patty 00:22:03.119 --> 00:22:05.559 Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Not only 00:22:05.559 --> 00:22:08.339 did he rank the highest and scored the most season 00:22:08.339 --> 00:22:11.859 record points, but he was by far the most hated 00:22:11.859 --> 00:22:14.039 quarterback on this list. So many people wanted 00:22:14.039 --> 00:22:16.519 to punch his stupid face, making this game an 00:22:16.519 --> 00:22:20.230 absolute. must win and the number one most important 00:22:20.230 --> 00:22:23.309 game on the 2025 bills schedule so there you 00:22:23.309 --> 00:22:25.910 go it was a pretty fun exercise you know it kind 00:22:25.910 --> 00:22:27.950 of proves the point that if people think you're 00:22:27.950 --> 00:22:30.349 good and they hate you then it's an extremely 00:22:30.349 --> 00:22:32.809 important game on the schedule good stuff fun 00:22:32.809 --> 00:22:34.789 stuff right there i want to thank all the participants 00:22:35.799 --> 00:22:38.299 I'm sure multiple analytics departments will 00:22:38.299 --> 00:22:40.380 be reaching out to me, wanting to hire me after 00:22:40.380 --> 00:22:44.759 seeing these amazing scientific results. Wrestling 00:22:44.759 --> 00:22:47.700 Marks, so you are up next. Let's turn our attention 00:22:47.700 --> 00:22:51.019 to the squared circle. And I got to be completely 00:22:51.019 --> 00:22:54.559 honest with you folks. After last weekend, I 00:22:54.559 --> 00:22:58.960 was a little or maybe a lot burnt out from all 00:22:58.960 --> 00:23:01.579 the wrestling that occurred. I mean, it was a 00:23:01.579 --> 00:23:05.589 lot. It was a... I needed a bit of a palate cleanse 00:23:05.589 --> 00:23:08.589 after last weekend. I needed to do something 00:23:08.589 --> 00:23:10.890 a little different. So I figured SummerSlam is 00:23:10.890 --> 00:23:13.569 almost upon us. I thought, why don't I jump into 00:23:13.569 --> 00:23:16.369 the DeLorean and take a trip down memory lane, 00:23:16.509 --> 00:23:20.890 fire up the nostalgia -o -meter, and take me 00:23:20.890 --> 00:23:25.809 all the way back to 1988. August of 1988, 37 00:23:25.809 --> 00:23:28.869 years ago, to the very first SummerSlam event. 00:23:29.170 --> 00:23:31.589 There was a tagline on this puppy. If you remember, 00:23:31.890 --> 00:23:34.750 this was, quote, where the mega powers meet the 00:23:34.750 --> 00:23:37.549 mega bucks. That's the tagline they slapped on 00:23:37.549 --> 00:23:40.329 this sucker, and it was just what I needed. After 00:23:40.329 --> 00:23:43.789 an intense weekend filled with so much wrestling, 00:23:44.009 --> 00:23:47.009 I needed, like I said, I needed a palate cleanse 00:23:47.009 --> 00:23:50.150 and this. Absolutely hit the spot. So let's take 00:23:50.150 --> 00:23:53.430 a quick deep dive into SummerSlam 88. If you 00:23:53.430 --> 00:23:55.750 remember this, this took place in Madison Square 00:23:55.750 --> 00:23:57.730 Garden in New York City. A couple of things right 00:23:57.730 --> 00:24:00.849 off the bat. Number one, this entire show falls 00:24:00.849 --> 00:24:04.130 in at two hours and 29 glorious minutes. Two 00:24:04.130 --> 00:24:07.029 hours and 29 minutes. I was thinking about this 00:24:07.029 --> 00:24:10.269 as I was watching this show and coming off of 00:24:10.269 --> 00:24:14.329 AEW All In, which was like six hours. I could 00:24:14.329 --> 00:24:18.289 have watched this show twice. and still had an 00:24:18.289 --> 00:24:21.369 hour left to do something else. So number one, 00:24:21.430 --> 00:24:24.690 awesome time length. Awesome total card length. 00:24:24.890 --> 00:24:27.710 Another thing I'm realizing is there's no signs 00:24:27.710 --> 00:24:30.829 yet, and the fans are so close to the ring. They 00:24:30.829 --> 00:24:34.490 have those old metal barricades set up around 00:24:34.490 --> 00:24:38.430 the rings, and they may be like seven to eight 00:24:38.430 --> 00:24:42.019 feet. from the ring so when the wrestlers go 00:24:42.019 --> 00:24:44.720 outside of the ring at certain points these fans 00:24:44.720 --> 00:24:48.220 are like on top of it it's crazy another thing 00:24:48.220 --> 00:24:50.920 there's police officers everywhere and back in 00:24:50.920 --> 00:24:53.619 the 80s they had some really crazy uniforms but 00:24:53.619 --> 00:24:56.579 there's actual police officers spread out throughout 00:24:56.579 --> 00:24:59.460 the crowd and throughout the entrance ramp it 00:24:59.460 --> 00:25:01.960 was an interesting interesting thing to see and 00:25:01.960 --> 00:25:06.119 this crowd is crazy they're crazy like i said 00:25:06.539 --> 00:25:09.940 There's no signs, but this crowd is loud. They're 00:25:09.940 --> 00:25:12.920 invested. They're not doing any stupid chants. 00:25:12.920 --> 00:25:15.519 They're just enjoying their wrestling and they're 00:25:15.519 --> 00:25:18.940 responding and it's awesome. So SummerSlam 88. 00:25:19.059 --> 00:25:22.279 On commentary, you have Gorilla Monsoon and superstar 00:25:22.279 --> 00:25:25.220 Billy Graham. Now, if I had one of those clickers 00:25:25.220 --> 00:25:28.140 that you could count how many times things happen, 00:25:28.339 --> 00:25:30.980 I would probably have. broken it with how many 00:25:30.980 --> 00:25:34.759 times Billy Graham says brother or my man I'm 00:25:34.759 --> 00:25:37.740 like this is nuts like can you use different 00:25:37.740 --> 00:25:41.140 ways to refer to people other than brother and 00:25:41.140 --> 00:25:44.759 my man but anyway the the show starts out with 00:25:44.759 --> 00:25:47.380 a tag team match you have the British Bulldogs 00:25:47.380 --> 00:25:51.420 Dynamite Kid Davey Boy Smith and their dog Matilda 00:25:51.420 --> 00:25:53.759 because we can't forget the Bulldogs have to 00:25:53.759 --> 00:25:56.119 have a dog and it's none other than the Bulldog 00:25:56.119 --> 00:25:59.579 Matilda which side note The other thing I noticed 00:25:59.579 --> 00:26:02.440 looking back at SummerSlam, the WWF back then, 00:26:02.500 --> 00:26:05.880 they loved animals and they loved managers. They 00:26:05.880 --> 00:26:09.019 loved animals and managers because almost everyone 00:26:09.019 --> 00:26:11.599 had either some sort of animal and you're going 00:26:11.599 --> 00:26:13.970 to see it. As we go through this. But the managers 00:26:13.970 --> 00:26:16.789 are pulling like double triple duty. So it's 00:26:16.789 --> 00:26:19.869 crazy. So you have British Bulldogs against the 00:26:19.869 --> 00:26:23.190 fabulous Rougeau's. And the place was popping. 00:26:23.349 --> 00:26:25.890 I mean it's going nuts. This is a great solid 00:26:25.890 --> 00:26:28.890 tag team match. Way to fire up the crowd. Get 00:26:28.890 --> 00:26:31.430 everybody invested. Unfortunately it ends in 00:26:31.430 --> 00:26:33.710 a 20 minute draw. Which is not something you 00:26:33.710 --> 00:26:36.390 see very often. I know they just had this with 00:26:36.390 --> 00:26:39.529 the Lyra Valkyria Bailey match. It was a draw. 00:26:39.670 --> 00:26:42.789 But 20 minute draw. Match ends, the bell rings, 00:26:42.930 --> 00:26:46.509 and the ref rules it a draw. But then you get 00:26:46.509 --> 00:26:49.230 a video package, which was really crazy. You 00:26:49.230 --> 00:26:51.900 get a video package. behind the scenes footage, 00:26:52.000 --> 00:26:54.700 or actually it was in the ring footage of Brutus, 00:26:54.700 --> 00:26:57.619 the barber beefcake getting attacked by Ron Bass. 00:26:57.859 --> 00:27:00.640 Now I wasn't familiar with Ron Bass. Obviously 00:27:00.640 --> 00:27:03.200 Brutus was one of my favorites, but I wasn't 00:27:03.200 --> 00:27:05.700 too familiar with Ron Bass. Anyway, he attacks 00:27:05.700 --> 00:27:09.299 Brutus in the ring and he starts to attack his 00:27:09.299 --> 00:27:12.099 head and hit him in the head with a spur. Anyway, 00:27:12.160 --> 00:27:14.920 he cuts Brutus open. And at this point, There's 00:27:14.920 --> 00:27:19.180 a red X that goes over the center of the TV, 00:27:19.299 --> 00:27:21.799 and it has the word censored on it. Now, you 00:27:21.799 --> 00:27:24.680 can still see around the X, which is really crazy, 00:27:24.720 --> 00:27:27.299 but they're trying to censor the blood, I guess, 00:27:27.359 --> 00:27:29.900 and the violence of the nature. But anyway, what 00:27:29.900 --> 00:27:33.140 this is basically saying is Brutus was supposed 00:27:33.140 --> 00:27:35.759 to have a match against the Intercontinental 00:27:35.759 --> 00:27:38.660 Champion, Hockey Talk Man, but due to this attack, 00:27:38.859 --> 00:27:41.660 this vicious, now censored attack by Ron Bass, 00:27:41.839 --> 00:27:45.130 he is not going to be able to compete. So that 00:27:45.130 --> 00:27:47.430 obviously sucks. And then we go to Bad News Brown 00:27:47.430 --> 00:27:50.470 versus Ken Patera. Didn't know who Ken Patera 00:27:50.470 --> 00:27:53.450 was. This match was fine. It was okay. Bad News 00:27:53.450 --> 00:27:55.710 Brown hits the Ghetto Blaster, which is essentially 00:27:55.710 --> 00:27:57.529 a kick to the back of the head. And the other 00:27:57.529 --> 00:27:59.730 thing I realized watching these matches is these 00:27:59.730 --> 00:28:04.250 finishers are crazy. Simple, basic moves that 00:28:04.250 --> 00:28:07.230 they throw a flashy name on. And something like 00:28:07.230 --> 00:28:08.970 the Ghetto Blaster, I'm not sure that we would 00:28:08.970 --> 00:28:11.049 use that name anymore, but he literally kicks 00:28:11.049 --> 00:28:12.470 the guy in the head, and that's his finishing 00:28:12.470 --> 00:28:14.990 move, and Bad News Brown wins. So there you go. 00:28:15.069 --> 00:28:18.029 Now the next match on this card, we have Ravishing 00:28:18.029 --> 00:28:20.890 Rick Rude. Now if you don't remember Ravishing 00:28:20.890 --> 00:28:24.529 Rick Rude, Bobby Heenan was his manager, and 00:28:24.529 --> 00:28:27.480 he would come out and he would... disrobe and 00:28:27.480 --> 00:28:31.079 the ladies would go crazy and he would put his 00:28:31.079 --> 00:28:33.799 hands on the top of his head and he would like 00:28:33.799 --> 00:28:37.279 twist his hips and do these pelvic thrusts and 00:28:37.279 --> 00:28:39.500 the ladies would go crazy and take in pictures 00:28:39.500 --> 00:28:41.880 with their 80s cameras. It was pretty funny. 00:28:42.019 --> 00:28:45.079 So Ravishing Rick Rude versus JYD Junkyard Dog. 00:28:45.339 --> 00:28:49.019 Rude comes down, disrobes and he has on his tights. 00:28:49.039 --> 00:28:52.019 They were big fans of like the airbrushing artwork. 00:28:52.220 --> 00:28:56.240 So they had Junkyard Dog's face on. ravishing 00:28:56.240 --> 00:28:58.720 Rick Rude's tights which was pretty funny so 00:28:58.720 --> 00:29:01.259 they have a pretty decent match and then all 00:29:01.259 --> 00:29:05.559 of a sudden Rick Rude climbs to the top of a 00:29:05.559 --> 00:29:08.500 turnbuckle and he's about to do a move I don't 00:29:08.500 --> 00:29:12.700 know and he drops his outer layer of tights to 00:29:12.700 --> 00:29:16.099 reveal a second layer of tights that have the 00:29:16.099 --> 00:29:20.700 face of Cheryl Roberts, who in storyline back 00:29:20.700 --> 00:29:24.259 then was Jake the Snake's wife. And you don't 00:29:24.259 --> 00:29:28.079 put another man's wife's face on your, how do 00:29:28.079 --> 00:29:33.279 I put this? on your groin region of your tights 00:29:33.279 --> 00:29:37.019 without really pissing off the husband. So out 00:29:37.019 --> 00:29:40.700 comes Jake the Snake, and he gets involved in 00:29:40.700 --> 00:29:43.000 the match, and he starts attacking Ravishing 00:29:43.000 --> 00:29:47.339 Recruits. So JYD is DQ'd because of the Snake. 00:29:47.839 --> 00:29:50.960 Jake the Snake, and that's that match. Then match 00:29:50.960 --> 00:29:54.779 four, you have Powers of Pain versus the Bolsheviks. 00:29:54.859 --> 00:29:56.980 Now, the Powers of Pain were brought out to the 00:29:56.980 --> 00:29:59.240 ring by the Baron. Now, I don't really remember 00:29:59.240 --> 00:30:02.400 the Baron too well. Obviously, I know who the 00:30:02.400 --> 00:30:05.420 Powers of Pain were, but they were fighting the 00:30:05.420 --> 00:30:08.480 Bolsheviks who were brought out by Slick, which 00:30:08.480 --> 00:30:12.019 really, I don't understand the pairing. Needless 00:30:12.019 --> 00:30:15.359 to say, Powers of Pain win. That's all I need 00:30:15.359 --> 00:30:18.019 to say about that. And then the match of the 00:30:18.019 --> 00:30:20.900 night. So you have Honky Tonk Man, who's the 00:30:20.900 --> 00:30:23.740 longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of 00:30:23.740 --> 00:30:27.019 all time at this point. He's in the ring. And 00:30:27.019 --> 00:30:29.960 as we said before, Brutus the Barber Beefcake 00:30:29.960 --> 00:30:32.839 is attacked and he can't compete. So it's going 00:30:32.839 --> 00:30:35.720 to be a mystery. mystery opponent and during 00:30:35.720 --> 00:30:39.640 backstage segments they don't want to announce 00:30:39.640 --> 00:30:41.900 who his opponent's gonna be he wants it to be 00:30:41.900 --> 00:30:44.880 a total surprise so honky tonk man is out in 00:30:44.880 --> 00:30:47.960 the ring and he's waiting for brutus's replacement 00:30:47.960 --> 00:30:50.980 all of a sudden the music of the ultimate warrior 00:30:50.980 --> 00:30:54.839 hits and the place goes freaking bonkers now 00:30:54.839 --> 00:30:58.559 it's crazy i timed it by the time ultimate warriors 00:30:58.559 --> 00:31:03.150 music hits and he is running through the curtain, 00:31:03.250 --> 00:31:06.549 down the ramp, into the ring. He hits Honky Tonk 00:31:06.549 --> 00:31:08.750 with three punches. He hits him with a slam, 00:31:08.910 --> 00:31:12.049 a shoulder tackle, a clothesline, and a splash. 00:31:12.390 --> 00:31:15.309 So three punches, body slam, shoulder tackle, 00:31:15.490 --> 00:31:18.670 clothesline, splash. Way more moves than Goldberg's 00:31:18.670 --> 00:31:21.009 ever wrestled in his life in a Goldberg match. 00:31:21.170 --> 00:31:23.650 Way more moves than he's ever used. He hits all 00:31:23.650 --> 00:31:28.369 these moves, pins Honky Tonk Man in 52 seconds. 00:31:29.670 --> 00:31:33.750 52 seconds to defeat the longest reigning intercontinental 00:31:33.750 --> 00:31:36.569 champion of all time. This match is awesome. 00:31:36.670 --> 00:31:39.609 I think I watched it probably eight times because 00:31:39.609 --> 00:31:42.369 there's so much going on in this match that if 00:31:42.369 --> 00:31:44.829 you don't go back and rewatch it over and over, 00:31:44.869 --> 00:31:47.190 you miss so much stuff. So back then the microphone, 00:31:47.450 --> 00:31:50.109 the ring announcer microphone was attached to 00:31:50.109 --> 00:31:53.009 a cord and Ultimate Warrior runs out and he's 00:31:53.009 --> 00:31:55.490 in the ring so quickly that they dropped the 00:31:55.490 --> 00:31:58.420 microphone and the cord is like literally. laying 00:31:58.420 --> 00:32:01.059 in the middle of the ring. Howard Finkel is your 00:32:01.059 --> 00:32:04.619 ring announcer. He can't even get out. Ultimate 00:32:04.619 --> 00:32:07.339 Warrior's name before Ultimate Warrior is in 00:32:07.339 --> 00:32:11.200 the ring running around like a lunatic. So Finkel 00:32:11.200 --> 00:32:13.579 is like running for his life to get out of the 00:32:13.579 --> 00:32:16.140 ring. The microphone's laying on the mat. And 00:32:16.140 --> 00:32:18.779 then Earl Hebner, the referee of the match, everybody 00:32:18.779 --> 00:32:21.259 knows Earl Hebner, he doesn't know what to do. 00:32:21.299 --> 00:32:23.380 He's running around like a crazy person trying 00:32:23.380 --> 00:32:25.000 to get out of the way of the Ultimate Warrior 00:32:25.000 --> 00:32:27.519 because Warrior is like going crazy. He's like 00:32:27.519 --> 00:32:30.720 a pinball in a machine going all over the place. 00:32:30.819 --> 00:32:33.319 This is why I loved Ultimate Warrior when I was 00:32:33.319 --> 00:32:35.750 a kid. because you've got this guy wearing all 00:32:35.750 --> 00:32:37.650 these flashy colors. He's got the face paint. 00:32:37.730 --> 00:32:40.130 He's got the long hair. He's got the real, real 00:32:40.130 --> 00:32:43.609 cool look. And, you know, he's jacked to the 00:32:43.609 --> 00:32:46.490 hills. We all know why that was. But here he 00:32:46.490 --> 00:32:50.549 runs out. His music hits, and he's the new IC 00:32:50.549 --> 00:32:55.170 champ in 52 seconds. And so by the time his music 00:32:55.170 --> 00:32:57.910 hits, he runs to the ramp, beats the Honky Tonk 00:32:57.910 --> 00:33:01.130 Man, gets the belt, and runs out, all the way 00:33:01.130 --> 00:33:03.799 back out of the ring. The whole thing, the whole 00:33:03.799 --> 00:33:06.180 experience, the Ultimate Warrior experience is 00:33:06.180 --> 00:33:09.579 a minute and 51 seconds. It is insane, which 00:33:09.579 --> 00:33:12.559 is why I absolutely love it. Great freaking match. 00:33:12.819 --> 00:33:14.720 You can't go wrong with that match. Then you 00:33:14.720 --> 00:33:18.660 get Don Morocco versus Dino Bravo. What I found 00:33:18.660 --> 00:33:20.619 funny about this match was they actually called 00:33:20.619 --> 00:33:23.440 Don Morocco The Rock. So he was The Rock well 00:33:23.440 --> 00:33:27.619 before Dwayne The Rock Johnson was ever on the 00:33:27.619 --> 00:33:31.230 scene. And then Dino Bravo, he also had a manager, 00:33:31.450 --> 00:33:34.789 Frenchie Martin. And Dino Bravo wins off some 00:33:34.789 --> 00:33:37.549 sort of distraction. And that's it. Really not 00:33:37.549 --> 00:33:39.190 much to say about it. Then you have the Hart 00:33:39.190 --> 00:33:42.970 Foundation. So Jim the Anvil and Brett the Hitman 00:33:42.970 --> 00:33:45.690 against Demolition. Now Demolition was the tag 00:33:45.690 --> 00:33:48.589 team champions. And they come down to the ring 00:33:48.589 --> 00:33:51.230 with not only Mr. Fuji, but Jimmy Hart as well. 00:33:51.309 --> 00:33:54.210 So they have like this dual manager thing going 00:33:54.210 --> 00:33:56.470 on. I couldn't really remember why they had both 00:33:56.470 --> 00:33:59.660 of them. At some point, Jimmy Hart runs back 00:33:59.660 --> 00:34:03.779 to the... Back behind the curtain, he grabs a 00:34:03.779 --> 00:34:06.480 megaphone, he comes back down, he gives it to 00:34:06.480 --> 00:34:08.500 one of the demolition guys, and he gets Bret 00:34:08.500 --> 00:34:13.079 Hart with it when the ref is being distracted, 00:34:13.159 --> 00:34:16.760 I believe, by Mr. Fuji, and they retain, and 00:34:16.760 --> 00:34:18.860 they're still your tag champions. But the Hart 00:34:18.860 --> 00:34:21.639 Foundation, they're starting to get some traction, 00:34:21.840 --> 00:34:24.460 they're starting to get some fanfare, and pretty 00:34:24.460 --> 00:34:26.900 good match. Then you have Coco Beware with the 00:34:26.900 --> 00:34:30.099 second... Animal appearance of the night. With 00:34:30.099 --> 00:34:32.920 Frankie. Now if you remember Frankie. He was 00:34:32.920 --> 00:34:36.199 a macaw or something like that. A really crazy 00:34:36.199 --> 00:34:38.500 looking bird. Awesome looking. But Coco Beware 00:34:38.500 --> 00:34:41.780 had his bird. And he fights Big Boss Man. Who 00:34:41.780 --> 00:34:45.219 also has a manager. And this time he's accompanied 00:34:45.219 --> 00:34:48.699 by Slick. Now the MVP of this match. This is 00:34:48.699 --> 00:34:52.739 crazy. This is crazy. The MVP of this match is 00:34:52.739 --> 00:34:55.829 Big Boss Man's. uniform shirt because this uniform 00:34:55.829 --> 00:34:59.630 shirt is pulling like triple duty, folks. By 00:34:59.630 --> 00:35:01.550 the end of the match, there's like buttons missing, 00:35:01.869 --> 00:35:04.929 stuff's flopping out of this thing. Boss Man 00:35:04.929 --> 00:35:08.250 looked super, super heavy. I know he was always 00:35:08.250 --> 00:35:12.070 a big man, hence the name Big Boss Man, but it 00:35:12.070 --> 00:35:14.949 was a light blue, two -toned uniform shirt, and 00:35:14.949 --> 00:35:17.989 by the end of it, it's like dark blue because 00:35:17.989 --> 00:35:20.610 he's sweating so much. It was kind of nasty, 00:35:20.710 --> 00:35:24.130 but props to... the uniform shirt of the big 00:35:24.130 --> 00:35:27.590 boss man. He hits his side splash, which is literally 00:35:27.590 --> 00:35:33.289 like a half version of the Bailey to belly body 00:35:33.289 --> 00:35:36.690 slam, which isn't very impressive. But anyway, 00:35:36.889 --> 00:35:39.110 big boss man wins. And then they throw backstage 00:35:39.110 --> 00:35:43.369 to an interview with your brand new intercontinental 00:35:43.369 --> 00:35:46.769 champion, the ultimate warrior. And this is what 00:35:46.769 --> 00:35:50.650 I love about him. He cuts. the most insane promos, 00:35:50.650 --> 00:35:54.969 and he just rambles for two minutes about how 00:35:54.969 --> 00:35:57.610 he's going to be on the next spaceship to parts 00:35:57.610 --> 00:36:01.610 unknown. It's amazing. It's so hilarious to listen 00:36:01.610 --> 00:36:04.030 to some of his old promos. You have no idea what 00:36:04.030 --> 00:36:05.590 the hell he's talking about. It's absolutely 00:36:05.590 --> 00:36:08.329 glorious. Then you go on to match nine, and there 00:36:08.329 --> 00:36:10.510 are 10 matches on this card, and the whole thing 00:36:10.510 --> 00:36:12.030 is still under two and a half hours. It's awesome. 00:36:12.289 --> 00:36:14.590 Hercules versus Jake the Snake, the third animal. 00:36:15.389 --> 00:36:17.630 Obviously, he's a reptile, but the third creature 00:36:17.630 --> 00:36:21.119 to make. their debut in SummerSlam, Jake the 00:36:21.119 --> 00:36:24.239 Snake with Damian, the huge python or whatever 00:36:24.239 --> 00:36:27.320 the hell it was, anaconda, I don't know. But 00:36:27.320 --> 00:36:29.480 no, it wasn't anaconda. I think it was a python. 00:36:29.760 --> 00:36:32.800 But again, with the finisher, Jake the Snake, 00:36:32.840 --> 00:36:35.880 his finisher was a DDT. Now you do a DDT today 00:36:35.880 --> 00:36:38.119 and it's like 30 seconds into the match. They 00:36:38.119 --> 00:36:41.340 do a DDT back then in 1988 and everyone's going 00:36:41.340 --> 00:36:43.280 crazy and they think it's the best move in the 00:36:43.280 --> 00:36:46.039 world. But the crowd goes absolutely... nuts 00:36:46.039 --> 00:36:49.800 when jake hits his ddt because they know that 00:36:49.800 --> 00:36:51.800 this is the time that damien's going to make 00:36:51.800 --> 00:36:54.559 his appearance hercules is essentially unconscious 00:36:54.559 --> 00:36:58.199 in the middle of the ring after the after he 00:36:58.199 --> 00:37:00.820 gets hit with the ddt and here comes jake dropping 00:37:00.820 --> 00:37:03.159 damien he throws him out of the bag and this 00:37:03.159 --> 00:37:05.739 snake is probably eight feet long and he just 00:37:05.739 --> 00:37:08.599 throws the snake on top of hercules and like 00:37:08.599 --> 00:37:11.489 i don't it's crazy but But that was the way it 00:37:11.489 --> 00:37:13.670 was back then. And that's why I love and have 00:37:13.670 --> 00:37:17.269 such a nostalgia factor for 80s and early 90s 00:37:17.269 --> 00:37:20.210 wrestling. There's nothing, you can't beat it. 00:37:20.250 --> 00:37:23.110 You can't beat it. And then finally, the absolute 00:37:23.110 --> 00:37:26.829 main event of SummerSlam 88, you have the mega 00:37:26.829 --> 00:37:30.230 bucks of Andre the Giant and Teb DiBiase with 00:37:30.230 --> 00:37:33.369 Virgil and Bobby the Brain Heaton. And they are 00:37:33.369 --> 00:37:36.039 going up against Hulk Hogan and Macho Man. the 00:37:36.039 --> 00:37:39.199 mega powers, Randy Macho Man Savage with none 00:37:39.199 --> 00:37:41.920 other than Miss Elizabeth. They went through 00:37:41.920 --> 00:37:45.119 great detail with this because their gear matches 00:37:45.119 --> 00:37:48.079 to a tee. They got yellow trunks and boots. They 00:37:48.079 --> 00:37:51.159 got red knee pads. It's awesome. Miss Elizabeth 00:37:51.159 --> 00:37:53.460 comes out wearing a yellow dress. She's got red 00:37:53.460 --> 00:37:56.360 armbands. Everybody's matching, even the bad 00:37:56.360 --> 00:37:59.460 guys. Andre the Giant, Ted DiBiase, they're wearing 00:37:59.460 --> 00:38:02.179 matching black. It's really well done. So it 00:38:02.179 --> 00:38:03.820 was nice to see that they even paid attention 00:38:03.820 --> 00:38:06.559 to some of the details like that. And then Jesse 00:38:06.559 --> 00:38:08.980 the Body Ventura was a special guest referee. 00:38:09.420 --> 00:38:12.849 He's not wearing, and he... ref gear he's literally 00:38:12.849 --> 00:38:16.789 wearing jeans and like almost what can be described 00:38:16.789 --> 00:38:20.150 as a blouse almost like a pirate blouse it's 00:38:20.150 --> 00:38:23.949 very strange but the crowd is straight bananas 00:38:23.949 --> 00:38:27.550 for this match they are so jacked it is crazy 00:38:27.550 --> 00:38:29.769 and then it all ends I don't know if you all 00:38:29.769 --> 00:38:32.150 remember this match but at one point Randy Macho 00:38:32.150 --> 00:38:35.329 Man and Hulk Hogan are both down on the outside 00:38:35.329 --> 00:38:38.079 of the ring All the managers are kind of up. 00:38:38.099 --> 00:38:41.019 It's kind of a bit of a schmoz fest before schmozes 00:38:41.019 --> 00:38:43.920 were really a huge to -do. So you have Elizabeth 00:38:43.920 --> 00:38:46.380 on the ring. You have Virgil and Bobby Heenan, 00:38:46.440 --> 00:38:48.820 and they're all kind of doing their thing. Next 00:38:48.820 --> 00:38:51.480 thing you know, you see Miss Elizabeth do this 00:38:51.480 --> 00:38:54.500 thing where she rips off her skirt to reveal 00:38:54.500 --> 00:38:57.039 her red, and they're calling it panties at the 00:38:57.039 --> 00:38:59.280 time, but essentially it's her swimsuit. But 00:38:59.280 --> 00:39:03.019 she's got the top of her dress on and red underwear, 00:39:03.119 --> 00:39:05.619 and it distracts everyone. The good guys make 00:39:05.619 --> 00:39:09.719 a huge comeback, and you see Macho Man hit his 00:39:09.719 --> 00:39:12.219 diving flying elbow from the top rope, followed 00:39:12.219 --> 00:39:15.059 by a Hogan leg drop, one, two, three. The celebration 00:39:15.059 --> 00:39:17.920 ensues, and the place is going absolute bonkers. 00:39:17.960 --> 00:39:22.179 The ring is now Hogan, Macho, and Elizabeth. 00:39:22.300 --> 00:39:24.639 They're doing pose off after pose off in their 00:39:24.639 --> 00:39:28.119 matching gear. And the place goes nuts. And the 00:39:28.119 --> 00:39:31.059 entire show is wrapped up in a nice two hours 00:39:31.059 --> 00:39:34.480 and 29 perfect, beautiful minutes. I'm rewatching 00:39:34.480 --> 00:39:37.480 this show. And I'm like, man, I miss some of 00:39:37.480 --> 00:39:40.880 the old glory days. This is exactly my wheelhouse. 00:39:40.960 --> 00:39:43.400 This is sometimes what I need to kind of get 00:39:43.400 --> 00:39:46.239 back to the roots of the whole thing, why I fell 00:39:46.239 --> 00:39:48.880 in love with wrestling to begin with. Simple, 00:39:49.019 --> 00:39:51.900 easy, not a lot going on, not a lot yet to think 00:39:51.900 --> 00:39:54.519 about. Still some good wrestling. You had a lot 00:39:54.519 --> 00:39:57.139 of people that you could see their trajectory 00:39:57.139 --> 00:40:00.260 with like Bret Hart and Jake the Snake and things 00:40:00.260 --> 00:40:02.159 like that. And then, of course, your absolute 00:40:02.159 --> 00:40:04.980 superstars, your Macho Man, your Hulk Hogan. 00:40:05.199 --> 00:40:07.320 Hacksaw Jim Duggan does an in -ring interview. 00:40:07.500 --> 00:40:10.280 The place goes crazy for him. So a lot of things 00:40:10.280 --> 00:40:13.800 going on, but all in all, SummerSlam 88, great 00:40:13.800 --> 00:40:15.980 show. I encourage everybody, go back to your 00:40:15.980 --> 00:40:17.980 roots. Go back to where it all started. Check 00:40:17.980 --> 00:40:21.309 it out. It will be well worth your time. But 00:40:21.309 --> 00:40:23.369 anyway, I think that's going to wrap up this 00:40:23.369 --> 00:40:27.070 episode of the 3Ts podcast. I appreciate everyone 00:40:27.070 --> 00:40:29.750 stopping in and checking out the show. If you've 00:40:29.750 --> 00:40:31.929 enjoyed this episode or any other episode of 00:40:31.929 --> 00:40:34.190 the 3Ts, please do me a favor and share it with 00:40:34.190 --> 00:40:35.949 someone you know, whether they love the bills, 00:40:36.150 --> 00:40:38.710 whether they love the hobby of card collecting, 00:40:38.809 --> 00:40:40.889 or whether they love wrestling. It doesn't matter. 00:40:40.909 --> 00:40:42.489 I'm trying to grow this one thing at a time. 00:40:42.750 --> 00:40:45.369 Help me by hitting that follow, leaving a quick 00:40:45.369 --> 00:40:47.489 review, whatever you can do to help me out. It 00:40:47.489 --> 00:40:50.170 would be awesome. I appreciate you all. Mary. 00:40:50.570 --> 00:40:56.429 very much. So until next time, whether it's ripping 00:40:56.429 --> 00:40:59.650 packs, breaking tables, or dropping elbows, keep 00:40:59.650 --> 00:41:02.630 doing what you love. And as always, Go Bills!
