- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an unspoiled network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:08Speaker 1: covering one piece episodes five ninety eight, five ninety nine
- 0:13Speaker 1: and six hundred. We're at six hundred, kiddos shits bonkers,
- 0:21Speaker 1: a samurai who can cut fire foxfire Kinemon, shocking the
- 0:26Speaker 1: true identity of the mystery man Virgo and save the children.
- 0:32Speaker 1: The Master's evil hands close in. In these episodes, the
- 0:40Speaker 1: kids are about to be lured into imprisonment again because
- 0:47Speaker 1: they want candy. Frankly relatable, we have got a new
- 0:54Speaker 1: weirdo to fucking deal with on top of everything. Don't
- 0:58Speaker 1: love this and also finding out what it was that
- 1:03Speaker 1: Caesar was able to do. He just takes people's oxygen away.
- 1:08Speaker 1: That is not fair. Welcome to spoil Me, Welcome to
- 1:32Speaker 1: the show everyone. I am Natasha. Thank you very much
- 1:35Speaker 1: to Bernadette for commissioning this episode. Bernadette, if you're out there,
- 1:39Speaker 1: appreciate you. Yo. My god, I can't believe we're here.
- 1:46Speaker 1: And the thing is, I can't even say that I've
- 1:48Speaker 1: watched six hundred episodes because there's been a bunch of fillers,
- 1:50Speaker 1: so I don't know exactly how many, Like you know,
- 1:57Speaker 1: we'd have to do a calculation on how many Fillers
- 2:00Speaker 1: episodes there were that you guys didn't have me watch,
- 2:03Speaker 1: and then I would have to try and remember which
- 2:05Speaker 1: ones I watched on my own time. I'm not gonna
- 2:08Speaker 1: do all of that, so I'm just gonna say at
- 2:12Speaker 1: around like six hundred and twenty five that I have
- 2:16Speaker 1: watched six hundred episodes. I think that's like six thirty
- 2:20Speaker 1: six twenty five around there is like fair. This arc
- 2:26Speaker 1: is continuing to be pretty compelling. There are so many
- 2:34Speaker 1: little things about Caesar that I really enjoy. And I
- 2:38Speaker 1: know that this is gonna seem sort of weird for
- 2:40Speaker 1: me to say, but I'm gonna say it. There's a
- 2:45Speaker 1: mark of a point in this where he realizes, oh, Okay,
- 2:50Speaker 1: these straw hats that I thought Rick dead are still alive,
- 2:54Speaker 1: which means that the uh Yetti brothers, the cool brother
- 3:01Speaker 1: must have fucked up. And I was expecting him to
- 3:06Speaker 1: follow up that observation with like, well, they better watch
- 3:12Speaker 1: their backs because I'm gonna punish them for this. Instead,
- 3:19Speaker 1: this dude says, I understand that because the combination of
- 3:26Speaker 1: them plus Trafalgar Law was probably too much for them
- 3:31Speaker 1: to handle. Now, guys, I just really want to. Like
- 3:34Speaker 1: I said this before, all right already, but I this
- 3:39Speaker 1: moment was another instance of it. Caesar Clown is just
- 3:44Speaker 1: weirdly reasonable in certain ways that I keep being surprised by.
- 3:50Speaker 1: I'm so used to the kinds of villains that just
- 3:54Speaker 1: like snap at people and beat the shit out of
- 3:57Speaker 1: them instantly for any infraction or and like, I'm not
- 4:01Speaker 1: trying to say that Caesar Clown is a good guy,
- 4:04Speaker 1: and I'm not trying to say that like the fact
- 4:07Speaker 1: that he's going, oh well, I guess they just couldn't
- 4:09Speaker 1: handle these dudes makes him like a good person or anything.
- 4:13Speaker 1: But it's just that he is more interesting than a
- 4:18Speaker 1: lot of the villains that we have run across, and
- 4:21Speaker 1: especially coming off of the Hordy arc he has is
- 4:25Speaker 1: like Hordy was so kind of by the numbers. It
- 4:29Speaker 1: felt like Hordy was a very phoned in villain, if
- 4:33Speaker 1: that makes sense that coming across Caesar Clown, you know,
- 4:39Speaker 1: a guy who is a mad scientist performing horrible experiments.
- 4:46Speaker 1: That's not new, you know, we've seen those kinds of
- 4:50Speaker 1: villains before. But the little details like that of how
- 4:56Speaker 1: he is able to keep in mind the big picture
- 5:01Speaker 1: about certain things and not just throw a fucking tantrum.
- 5:06Speaker 1: It makes it more interesting. I just I just think
- 5:09Speaker 1: it does. Saraphim says, hey, six hundred and it's actually
- 5:13Speaker 1: over halfway through for now. Nice. I don't think I
- 5:18Speaker 1: had done a check in with you guys about what
- 5:21Speaker 1: episode we were Like one piece is up to in
- 5:26Speaker 1: a while, So if you know Sarahim, let me know.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Saraphim says, he's an amoral asshole, but he's not a
- 5:33Speaker 1: total idiot. Also, let's face it, going all you failed
- 5:37Speaker 1: me and trying to off his mooks just for messing
- 5:40Speaker 1: up is like a lot of pointless work. That's true.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I could see him being like, uh, you failed me,
- 5:47Speaker 1: and now I'll use some experimental raygun on you just
- 5:51Speaker 1: to see what happens or whatever. But anyway, okay, so
- 5:58Speaker 1: you guys, this Virgo character, uh, I think that the
- 6:05Speaker 1: way he that it's pronounced in the show is like virgo.
- 6:10Speaker 1: So I'm gonna say vigo because otherwise it just sounds
- 6:14Speaker 1: like the astrological sign, and that is Beyonce's sign for
- 6:20Speaker 1: anybody who is interested. And I just don't really like
- 6:27Speaker 1: that it sounds like this, So I feel like going Vigo.
- 6:30Speaker 1: I like it. Vigo is uh, he is an odd one.
- 6:41Speaker 1: I can't really decide how I feel about this dude
- 6:44Speaker 1: as a character so far. One of the main things
- 6:48Speaker 1: for me that's sort of a hang up as of
- 6:51Speaker 1: right now the voice actor. He has a very sonorous voice,
- 6:59Speaker 1: and it's got real richness to it, and I love that.
- 7:05Speaker 1: That makes it almost like I would like for you
- 7:07Speaker 1: to read me a story to fall asleep too, kind
- 7:09Speaker 1: of thing. You know. However, he he sort of like
- 7:15Speaker 1: delivers lines weirdly, and you know, I'm keeping in mind
- 7:21Speaker 1: that this is something that's specific to the dub. I
- 7:23Speaker 1: don't know what all y'all have. You know, what you've
- 7:27Speaker 1: got in the subversion, So it may not be an issue,
- 7:32Speaker 1: or it may be like an actual character choice. I
- 7:36Speaker 1: don't think it is, but it might be. But his
- 7:41Speaker 1: overall vibe is so strange, and he when he shows
- 7:46Speaker 1: up and finally steps out into the light, there is
- 7:51Speaker 1: what looks like a whole steak stuck to his face.
- 7:57Speaker 1: And my friends, when I tell you that, I thought
- 8:01Speaker 1: this was just a part of his look. I'm not
- 8:05Speaker 1: being cute. I just thought, well, why not. Oda does
- 8:11Speaker 1: a lot of weird shit. And this does feel for
- 8:14Speaker 1: me like it's particularly weird. Don't get me wrong, but
- 8:19Speaker 1: you know whatever, I kind of thought it was meant
- 8:22Speaker 1: to be like a joke about how some sideburns are
- 8:27Speaker 1: called mutton chops, was what I thought we were doing.
- 8:31Speaker 1: So then later on, when he's having the conversation with
- 8:34Speaker 1: Monette and she's like, did you have steak for breakfast?
- 8:37Speaker 1: Because there's some on your face, I was like, I
- 8:42Speaker 1: don't know if that's less weird, to be honest, making
- 8:49Speaker 1: this be just the look that he has might be
- 8:54Speaker 1: less strange. Then to suggest that this man is walking
- 8:57Speaker 1: around for several hours with the whole fucking steak stuck
- 9:02Speaker 1: to his face that he didn't see or feel, that's just,
- 9:07Speaker 1: you know, my opinion. But uh, it was. It was
- 9:13Speaker 1: a real weird bit, you guys, because I really did
- 9:16Speaker 1: have a such a reaction to his look, and I
- 9:22Speaker 1: thought it was going to be something that I would
- 9:24Speaker 1: have to sort of address on the show in a well,
- 9:27Speaker 1: I guess you just never know what Oda's gonna do
- 9:29Speaker 1: kind of way. And then it still was that, but
- 9:32Speaker 1: in a totally different direction than what I was expecting. So, yeah,
- 9:39Speaker 1: he's here and he's like he says, you think the
- 9:42Speaker 1: Boss doesn't know what's going on? I had hoped you
- 9:45Speaker 1: were smarter than that. To be honest with you, we
- 9:50Speaker 1: don't trust this Caesar character either. The guy is shady.
- 9:56Speaker 1: That's why the Boss sent an undercover agent to the
- 9:59Speaker 1: Eye the Lovely Monet here. Rumor has it you're a warlord.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Now that's one hell of a promotion, so is the
- 10:12Speaker 1: Boss that he keeps referring to the Joker. Well, I
- 10:16Speaker 1: keep saying the Joker. They don't ever call him the Joker.
- 10:19Speaker 1: They just call him Joker, And eventually we find out
- 10:22Speaker 1: that that's Do Flamingo, which I'll be honest, I was
- 10:28Speaker 1: sort of expecting from the way this reveal was, like
- 10:33Speaker 1: the way they led up to it. I was expecting
- 10:37Speaker 1: that maybe Do Flamingo was going or not, that Joker
- 10:41Speaker 1: was going to turn out to be somebody a little
- 10:43Speaker 1: bit closer to us that we had gotten to know
- 10:45Speaker 1: slightly better. But it being Do Flamingo felt like a
- 10:50Speaker 1: tiny bit of a letdown to me. I'm curious how
- 10:52Speaker 1: any of you feel about it, because I just don't
- 10:55Speaker 1: really care about him right Like, as of yet, I
- 11:00Speaker 1: don't feel like I've gotten to know him particularly well,
- 11:02Speaker 1: he's always out here just like being kind of a
- 11:08Speaker 1: what's the word I want? He's just provoking people, you know,
- 11:13Speaker 1: is really his overall vibe. And I I, I don't
- 11:23Speaker 1: know how better to do this, Like when I say
- 11:26Speaker 1: how better, I mean, I don't know what character I
- 11:31Speaker 1: could point to as being like, well, I was thinking
- 11:35Speaker 1: maybe somebody like this. You know, it's just that Do
- 11:38Speaker 1: Flamingo has been kind of nothing. So I loved the
- 11:43Speaker 1: fact that when it's like announced, that's who it is,
- 11:47Speaker 1: Loofy's reaction is literally, who's that? And finally he like,
- 11:52Speaker 1: oh that guy once they remind him. But it was
- 11:57Speaker 1: gratifying to me. It felt like they were lampshading it
- 12:00Speaker 1: a little bit, that they were like, yeah, I know
- 12:02Speaker 1: it's not that intriguing as of yet. It will be,
- 12:06Speaker 1: I promise, but we understand that probably for now it's
- 12:09Speaker 1: sort of whatever because it is a little bit, you know.
- 12:14Speaker 1: And I think Do Flamingo is like I think I've
- 12:18Speaker 1: kind of enjoyed him when he's been on screen. It's
- 12:20Speaker 1: not like I don't like him as a character, but
- 12:24Speaker 1: I don't have any particular attachment to him and his
- 12:27Speaker 1: being like, you know, somebody who's doing his own thing
- 12:30Speaker 1: in the underworld. Doesn't really come as any sort of
- 12:33Speaker 1: shock because he does not strike me as a person
- 12:35Speaker 1: who gives us shit about rules at all. So let's
- 12:39Speaker 1: see do He says, I hitched a ride on a
- 12:44Speaker 1: tanker leaving port and now it seems it was the
- 12:46Speaker 1: right move. And Law says, why target me? I didn't
- 12:53Speaker 1: do a thing to you? And Law is like, all right, well,
- 13:01Speaker 1: I guess I'd better take care of you now then,
- 13:05Speaker 1: and he tries to go for his sword. I was
- 13:08Speaker 1: genuinely shocked by this. This man has you laying flat
- 13:12Speaker 1: on the floor as if it's nothing, and you grab
- 13:18Speaker 1: this weapon like you're gonna be able to do anything
- 13:20Speaker 1: to him. I didn't even know yet about the fact
- 13:23Speaker 1: that this man is in like he has Law's heart
- 13:27Speaker 1: in his custody. But not even knowing that, it just
- 13:32Speaker 1: felt like, you don't want to fuck with this guy Law,
- 13:35Speaker 1: based on just the interactions so far, and when he
- 13:40Speaker 1: tries I was truly startled. You know, let's see, I'm
- 13:47Speaker 1: trying to Sarah Fem says, You're yeah, you are pretty
- 13:53Speaker 1: much in the minority on that one. People were extremely
- 13:56Speaker 1: hyped to finally be getting some actual focus on him,
- 13:59Speaker 1: finally really hmm, Okay, I don't know, like he I
- 14:07Speaker 1: don't know what to tell you, guys, Like I just
- 14:09Speaker 1: he hasn't made that much of an impression on me.
- 14:11Speaker 1: He has a fun outfit and he's got a rude tude,
- 14:16Speaker 1: and that's pretty much it for me. But you know what,
- 14:20Speaker 1: like guys, occasionally this will happen with fandoms where they
- 14:23Speaker 1: get very fixated on a particular character that they are
- 14:26Speaker 1: all extremely interested in for reasons that I don't understand,
- 14:29Speaker 1: and it's like, sometimes it feels almost like it's meant
- 14:34Speaker 1: it's more of a joke, Like I don't know how
- 14:36Speaker 1: many of y'all were there when The Stranger Things first
- 14:39Speaker 1: season dropped. But the girl, I think her name is
- 14:43Speaker 1: Kathy's like friend who is sort of a frumpy type
- 14:48Speaker 1: named maybe Brenda. People were just very into Brenda as
- 14:55Speaker 1: a character, and there were tons of memes about her
- 14:59Speaker 1: and stuff, and it was just sort of like, Okay,
- 15:03Speaker 1: I guess, and then I will go on record as
- 15:07Speaker 1: saying this. It's always been weird to me how much
- 15:12Speaker 1: this Star Wars fandom were into the Mandalorian like Boba
- 15:18Speaker 1: fet He's nothing in the first movies, like really, there's
- 15:23Speaker 1: very little to him, and he just had this following
- 15:27Speaker 1: that motivated them eventually to make a whole TV show,
- 15:31Speaker 1: And I like, once you have the show and you're
- 15:34Speaker 1: learning more about him, he's a very fun, interesting character.
- 15:37Speaker 1: But initially I had heard so much about Boba fet
- 15:42Speaker 1: that when I finally got around to watching the original trilogy,
- 15:46Speaker 1: I was just like that, that's what has everybody so entranced,
- 15:52Speaker 1: Like why so I'll just put it down to that,
- 15:56Speaker 1: what can you do? So this is when not only
- 16:02Speaker 1: does he squeeze Law's heart, but he does something that
- 16:07Speaker 1: sort of like turns his arm and this like staff
- 16:12Speaker 1: that he's holding into what looks to be almost like
- 16:16Speaker 1: black stone, and just WAPs Law on the side of
- 16:21Speaker 1: the head and tells him to have some fucking respect.
- 16:25Speaker 1: It's mister virgo to you. I keep saying, virgo virgo.
- 16:31Speaker 1: So this dude is just, uh, I don't know. He's
- 16:36Speaker 1: coming in here and really trying to say he owns
- 16:39Speaker 1: the place. And I'm curious how right it's going to
- 16:41Speaker 1: turn out he is about that? And who else is
- 16:45Speaker 1: working under do Flamingo? Like how big is this group?
- 16:50Speaker 1: That he's got going on and do Flamingo is evidently
- 16:56Speaker 1: like suspicious of of overall what Caesar is doing here,
- 17:04Speaker 1: but not unaware that Caesar's here, not unaware that he
- 17:08Speaker 1: is experimenting. It just seems like he's kind of like
- 17:15Speaker 1: I sent you there, maybe with a specific assignment, and
- 17:19Speaker 1: you're just doing your own thing. I'm not really sure.
- 17:23Speaker 1: I have to assume it's something like that. That Well,
- 17:26Speaker 1: I thought we had made a deal and you were
- 17:30Speaker 1: going to, you know, look into doing XYZ for me,
- 17:33Speaker 1: and you haven't done that. But I don't know. Guys
- 17:36Speaker 1: like the I guess what I really think is that
- 17:44Speaker 1: anybody who thinks that they can assign anything to fucking
- 17:49Speaker 1: somebody like Caesar clown, that's on you. The man is
- 17:54Speaker 1: chaos incarnate. Like, I don't know what you would expect,
- 17:59Speaker 1: but this is about how i'd think it would go.
- 18:05Speaker 1: The blackstone is just meant to be a signal to
- 18:08Speaker 1: the audience that he's using armament hockey. Oh okay, that
- 18:13Speaker 1: makes sense, thank you, Sarah him. Yeah, I feel like
- 18:16Speaker 1: I have seen that before and I got it wrong
- 18:18Speaker 1: that time too, and then for some reason it's just
- 18:20Speaker 1: not really sticking that that's the shortcut that we're using
- 18:24Speaker 1: the cartoon language, you know, So let's see I'm trying
- 18:31Speaker 1: to Oh yeah, So we go back to these dudes
- 18:33Speaker 1: who are outside, and they all think that the Master
- 18:40Speaker 1: is going to like let them in, and are are
- 18:45Speaker 1: are rushing towards the doors, and eventually when they get
- 18:48Speaker 1: to them, are trying to beat them down, shoot them down,
- 18:51Speaker 1: et cetera, et cetera. And it obviously is not of
- 18:56Speaker 1: any interest to Caesar Clown to save them. They're going
- 18:59Speaker 1: to be guinea pigs that he is going to use
- 19:01Speaker 1: to see how this like bomb gas bomb thing works.
- 19:06Speaker 1: But in the meantime, he gives them the assignment of
- 19:11Speaker 1: gathering up the unconscious straw hats here and binding all
- 19:18Speaker 1: of them, plus Tashigi and Smoker up with those sea
- 19:22Speaker 1: stone manacles, and that way we can't use our powers
- 19:27Speaker 1: when we wake up, which those seastone manacles are really
- 19:32Speaker 1: a pain in the ass. So yeah, this is He
- 19:36Speaker 1: turns to his guys at this point and is like, oh,
- 19:39Speaker 1: I'm sure you've all noticed the strange substance that's been
- 19:42Speaker 1: raining down from the sky. There's no cause for concern.
- 19:46Speaker 1: I will ensure your safety and you know he doesn't,
- 19:53Speaker 1: So I'm jumping ahead a little bit here. Oh right, okay,
- 19:58Speaker 1: so let's talk about sn retrieving the torso of the samurai.
- 20:04Speaker 1: This is so weird. So what we've got going on is,
- 20:07Speaker 1: on the one side, all of these like smiley minis
- 20:14Speaker 1: that are beginning to form on the shore. And then
- 20:18Speaker 1: we have the poison that is in the water, and
- 20:22Speaker 1: it is also purple, so it gives us a very
- 20:25Speaker 1: good sort of wine to recognize how close Soanjy is
- 20:29Speaker 1: to it. And he's swimming down in Nami's body, and
- 20:35Speaker 1: eventually he does see the torso, but it is in
- 20:39Speaker 1: the mouth of a shark, which I you guys, this
- 20:46Speaker 1: was so funny to me. Like the shark just gnawing
- 20:50Speaker 1: on him, and up at the shore, this poor samurai
- 20:55Speaker 1: is just writhing in pain and he can't really explain
- 20:59Speaker 1: what's happening to him, not because it's like beyond his
- 21:04Speaker 1: means he can speak, but I have to assume that
- 21:07Speaker 1: he doesn't really know what's happening, right, And the way
- 21:12Speaker 1: that he, just like Sanji, has to fight this shark
- 21:17Speaker 1: to get it out and all this was very funny
- 21:20Speaker 1: to me. I actually liked this bit a lot. He's
- 21:25Speaker 1: also sort of worried because he's in Nami's body, and
- 21:29Speaker 1: he's like, if I do something and fuck it up,
- 21:32Speaker 1: she is never going to forgive me. Although I will
- 21:36Speaker 1: say later on it's Zoro. I think that says You're
- 21:42Speaker 1: never going to give it back, are you? And he
- 21:44Speaker 1: says absolutely not. So uh ye'all. I get it. It's
- 21:50Speaker 1: a little it's all a little joke, but I am
- 21:53Speaker 1: quite over it. I wouldn't mind if we would move
- 21:55Speaker 1: on from this. Actually, so our friends the shore are
- 22:00Speaker 1: trying to deal with all of these smilies cutting them.
- 22:05Speaker 1: That's Brooke who does that. Of course, the gas comes out,
- 22:09Speaker 1: we have the attempt to what is the other thing
- 22:15Speaker 1: that they try to do with it, but it doesn't
- 22:17Speaker 1: matter all. None of the attempts they're making have any
- 22:21Speaker 1: effect here. So once Sanji comes out and he has
- 22:26Speaker 1: the torso and our Samurai is able to put himself
- 22:30Speaker 1: back together again, he is so grateful and so like
- 22:36Speaker 1: effusive in his praise of Sanji. And I was thinking
- 22:41Speaker 1: that Sanji would say something like about time that you
- 22:47Speaker 1: say thank you, and he does like that's part of
- 22:50Speaker 1: it as well. But the thing that he really focuses
- 22:53Speaker 1: on is like, do you remember how the fuck you
- 22:56Speaker 1: spoke to me before, because now you're calling me sir
- 23:01Speaker 1: and being all fucking polite, and you were really rude
- 23:05Speaker 1: and shitty actually up until recently, like thirty seconds ago.
- 23:12Speaker 1: And I really liked this that the samurai thinks back
- 23:15Speaker 1: on all the instances in which he was basically, oh,
- 23:20Speaker 1: you guys are pirates and I won't accept help from you.
- 23:25Speaker 1: I'd rather die at just like all of these things
- 23:28Speaker 1: that he has said, and he immediately like falls to
- 23:32Speaker 1: his knees and apologizes repeatedly. And actually I rather liked
- 23:38Speaker 1: this the samurai like he's all right. I am not
- 23:43Speaker 1: totally enchanted by him, but I think for now he's
- 23:48Speaker 1: pretty fun. And it turns out that like what he
- 23:51Speaker 1: is able to do is cut fire, which is how
- 23:59Speaker 1: he gets them past the smilies, which is what I'm
- 24:03Speaker 1: going to continue calling these smaller versions of them. So yeah,
- 24:10Speaker 1: that's useful, And I have to think that this is
- 24:12Speaker 1: gonna be like one of the main ways that we
- 24:14Speaker 1: get past some of the obstacles that we are facing
- 24:17Speaker 1: at this point, because yeah, yeah, boy has an ability
- 24:22Speaker 1: that I don't feel like anybody has. Something close to.
- 24:27Speaker 1: I was really interested in how surprised by it Zoro is,
- 24:32Speaker 1: because I would have thought Zoro could do something similar,
- 24:37Speaker 1: just the fact that he's a swordsman. He can cut
- 24:40Speaker 1: almost anything we've seen, and he uses hockey apparently, so
- 24:45Speaker 1: I just sort of thought this would be I didn't
- 24:48Speaker 1: expect the samurai to be able to do anything that
- 24:51Speaker 1: Zoro wasn't also able to do, and evidently I was wrong,
- 24:56Speaker 1: and that's fine. I'm not mad about it. I'm just surprised.
- 25:01Speaker 1: So let's see, I'm trying to make sure that I
- 25:03Speaker 1: don't miss anything here because they're so like, you know,
- 25:06Speaker 1: the getting the torso back takes quite a long time.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Oh okay, So let's go over to Chopper. He's in
- 25:15Speaker 1: the laboratory trying to figure out how exactly the poison
- 25:21Speaker 1: was made, and bless him, he's so little. He has
- 25:25Speaker 1: to go and get a stool to stand on to
- 25:27Speaker 1: read this book. This is so I love chop Or
- 25:29Speaker 1: so much, you guys, I love him so much. He's
- 25:31Speaker 1: just too precious, and he's like, well, it should be
- 25:36Speaker 1: in here somewhere, so he just takes the whole book.
- 25:38Speaker 1: I really thought that he was going to just read it,
- 25:40Speaker 1: and I was glad that he took the whole book,
- 25:43Speaker 1: because I'm sure there's a ton of other stuff in
- 25:45Speaker 1: there that might come in useful at some point. And
- 25:48Speaker 1: he says, okay, now, now to find some sedatives. At
- 25:52Speaker 1: this point, the straw hats have still not been brought inside,
- 25:57Speaker 1: by the way. They're still out in the snow and
- 26:01Speaker 1: being gathered up to be put in a cage inside.
- 26:05Speaker 1: And this is when Caesar Clown is like, all right, well,
- 26:10Speaker 1: I'm gonna take a detour while you guys handle these dudes,
- 26:15Speaker 1: and I am going to retrieve the children. This is awful, y'all.
- 26:25Speaker 1: It makes me so sad. I really didn't want to
- 26:31Speaker 1: see them like agree to come back with him, even
- 26:34Speaker 1: though I understand that that's the point. I kind of thought.
- 26:40Speaker 1: I just thought that we would find a way around it.
- 26:45Speaker 1: And we just I mean, the kids start to like
- 26:49Speaker 1: get so violent, and I don't know what to expect here,
- 26:53Speaker 1: because they're being told that they'll get candy if they
- 26:58Speaker 1: kill the straw hats, and I want them to say
- 27:04Speaker 1: I can't possibly nobody does, though not immediately. They're just like,
- 27:11Speaker 1: all right, well, let's get on that, and they turn
- 27:15Speaker 1: and start in on this immediately. I thought there would
- 27:20Speaker 1: be some hesitation, but it feels very much like they're
- 27:24Speaker 1: almost straight up hypnotized or something. And I'm not suggesting
- 27:30Speaker 1: that's really true. I'm just saying, like, for the shows purposes,
- 27:35Speaker 1: they are under such control because of their craving for
- 27:39Speaker 1: this drug that they're kind of out of their minds
- 27:43Speaker 1: in a general sense and able to be told to
- 27:46Speaker 1: do anything and think that's a decent idea. But that
- 27:52Speaker 1: isn't like, while this isn't a fair representation of what
- 27:57Speaker 1: going into withdrawals and DT's is really like, it's also
- 28:01Speaker 1: not completely off face. Like people will tell you in
- 28:06Speaker 1: the throes of an addiction that they will do shit
- 28:09Speaker 1: they never thought they would be capable of all the time.
- 28:15Speaker 1: So the idea that you do kind of become a
- 28:18Speaker 1: different person isn't out of the question, you know. And
- 28:23Speaker 1: there was an some of you guys know that I
- 28:26Speaker 1: listened to Snapped, and that's a podcast made from a
- 28:33Speaker 1: TV show about women who commit murders. And it's a
- 28:38Speaker 1: specialized show because so often it is men, but it's
- 28:42Speaker 1: all about women specifically, and a lot of the times
- 28:46Speaker 1: the stories can be very sordid about somebody having an affair,
- 28:50Speaker 1: or a person embezzling money, or even like custody battles
- 28:54Speaker 1: would be a lot of them. But every very now
- 28:59Speaker 1: and then, addiction will be part of the story. And
- 29:04Speaker 1: one of the saddest ones that I ever heard was
- 29:09Speaker 1: a woman who was in the midst of an addiction
- 29:12Speaker 1: and she was offered a second chance by her mother,
- 29:18Speaker 1: and she murdered her mom to get access to money.
- 29:24Speaker 1: And when she finally confessed, she admitted that after attacking
- 29:31Speaker 1: her mother initially, and she kills her mother with like
- 29:33Speaker 1: a hammer. It was not a gunshot, sudden thing. It
- 29:37Speaker 1: was a very grisly, visceral attack. And she said that
- 29:43Speaker 1: when she first began to like just pound on her
- 29:47Speaker 1: mother with a hammer, her mother tried to stop her
- 29:52Speaker 1: by saying, I'm so I'm sorry, honey, I'm so sorry.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Here here's the money, like apologizing to her for not
- 30:01Speaker 1: giving it to her right away. I think it was money,
- 30:03Speaker 1: and like her access to her car something like that,
- 30:07Speaker 1: And she continues to beat her to death even after
- 30:12Speaker 1: getting this out. And it was just the sort of
- 30:14Speaker 1: thing that I couldn't imagine. Not only it's your mother,
- 30:20Speaker 1: but that she's pleading with you, Like, it's not like
- 30:24Speaker 1: you shot her before you really thought about what you
- 30:26Speaker 1: were doing, and she was dead before you knew it.
- 30:30Speaker 1: It was a decision that you made multiple times, because
- 30:33Speaker 1: every blow of that hammer is you choosing to do that.
- 30:38Speaker 1: But also that she was under the influence of this
- 30:43Speaker 1: horrific drug and it was just one of the saddest
- 30:48Speaker 1: things I had ever heard, and this woman clearly knew
- 30:54Speaker 1: how fucked up it was. And there was just this
- 30:57Speaker 1: like moment later on where her phone was saying that
- 31:02Speaker 1: I am trying to forgive her and I am trying
- 31:06Speaker 1: to understand like the addiction aspect of this, but it
- 31:12Speaker 1: is really hard. And I felt that was pretty gracious.
- 31:15Speaker 1: You know, he's trying his best. I don't even think
- 31:18Speaker 1: it was her biological father. I think he was her
- 31:20Speaker 1: stepdad and he had been trying to get his wife
- 31:22Speaker 1: to cut her off entirely, and uh, yeah, just you guys,
- 31:29Speaker 1: these drugs like the kinds of dismissive attitudes that you
- 31:35Speaker 1: see from people, it's just folks who don't know. They
- 31:38Speaker 1: can't you know, there's I just don't feel that you
- 31:41Speaker 1: can really know and still talk about it in this
- 31:45Speaker 1: offhanded way, like people are simply continuing to choose poorly,
- 31:54Speaker 1: like eating too much pizza, Like it's not the same thing.
- 31:59Speaker 1: There's a chemical change that happens. Anyway, I talked about
- 32:03Speaker 1: all this before. So we have this weird kind of
- 32:07Speaker 1: departure where we briefly go to the island where all
- 32:12Speaker 1: of these kids came from. This is so strange, y'all.
- 32:17Speaker 1: I don't know what is going on here, but basically
- 32:21Speaker 1: it's these people whose kids have been missing for like
- 32:24Speaker 1: three years, and they keep asking the officials in their
- 32:31Speaker 1: town from the Navy to look for their children. And
- 32:37Speaker 1: the scene sort of starts with this guy harassing the
- 32:41Speaker 1: shop owner because he ate an apple it was really good,
- 32:45Speaker 1: and now he wants like a thousand of them, and
- 32:48Speaker 1: when the shop keep says he doesn't have them, this
- 32:51Speaker 1: dude is like unwilling to believe that, as if this
- 32:54Speaker 1: man is holding out on him for no reason. And
- 32:58Speaker 1: it was so odd because eventually when it gets down
- 33:02Speaker 1: to like, will you please keep looking for our kids,
- 33:07Speaker 1: what we find out the official story is is that
- 33:13Speaker 1: they were just lost at sea. That's that's what we're
- 33:19Speaker 1: going with. And rightfully, these parents are like that doesn't
- 33:25Speaker 1: make any sense. They were playing in the town when
- 33:30Speaker 1: they disappeared. How did they get lost at s? What
- 33:35Speaker 1: do you even mean? And these dudes have no interest
- 33:40Speaker 1: in making this assertion makes sense. I really expected a
- 33:46Speaker 1: little bit more effort that they But it's like as
- 33:50Speaker 1: soon as they say lost at sea, that's supposed to
- 33:53Speaker 1: be the end of the sentence, and when these people
- 33:55Speaker 1: are like yeah, but it's like the reaction is such
- 33:59Speaker 1: that I can't believe you would keep pressing the issue,
- 34:04Speaker 1: as if these folks are complaining about their car keys
- 34:08Speaker 1: being missing or something. This their children, You maniacs. What
- 34:14Speaker 1: are you talking about? It's just I wasn't expecting this
- 34:20Speaker 1: to be so oddly handled, And I have to assume
- 34:29Speaker 1: that the reason for it is we are going to
- 34:34Speaker 1: find out these men were in on the kidnapping, right
- 34:37Speaker 1: like they had to have been part of this whole thing.
- 34:40Speaker 1: There's no other way these guys can buy this little
- 34:45Speaker 1: fairy tale like that's banana pants. But yeah, so anyway,
- 34:51Speaker 1: I just I never thought it was gonna I thought
- 34:54Speaker 1: it was going to wind up being some sort of
- 34:57Speaker 1: like this particular village hasn't got any children left and
- 35:04Speaker 1: they're they're trying to find outside help and everybody has
- 35:09Speaker 1: come up empty, but that there has been, you know,
- 35:12Speaker 1: a good faith effort made, and no, it is just
- 35:16Speaker 1: simply you we like pretended to look for about a
- 35:22Speaker 1: day and it's been three years, so now we think
- 35:27Speaker 1: you should be getting over it pretty much. And it's
- 35:31Speaker 1: so funny to me. Guys, there are times where real
- 35:34Speaker 1: people in the real world will behave like this about
- 35:39Speaker 1: like loss. There was something I read recently and it
- 35:42Speaker 1: was in a group that I'm in, and this girl
- 35:44Speaker 1: was like talking about her boyfriend's reaction to something that
- 35:48Speaker 1: she did because she was feeling sad about her mother
- 35:52Speaker 1: and so she did something to like memorialize her and
- 35:56Speaker 1: her He said, essentially, well, your mother died like three
- 36:02Speaker 1: years ago, you should be over it by now. I
- 36:06Speaker 1: don't even think it was a full three years ago.
- 36:08Speaker 1: I think I just said that because the show has
- 36:09Speaker 1: the three years. But it was like, that's not how
- 36:13Speaker 1: grief works, my guy. I have to assume either that
- 36:18Speaker 1: dude hasn't ever lost anybody or he has been taught
- 36:23Speaker 1: he should be over it. And so he's sort of
- 36:26Speaker 1: putting that on her, even though that is completely unfair
- 36:30Speaker 1: and unreasonable. But this is the situation that we're in,
- 36:36Speaker 1: is that the Navy has basically like, uh, wiped their hands,
- 36:42Speaker 1: washed their hands of the whole situation, and refuse to
- 36:45Speaker 1: look into it any further. And I genuinely when like,
- 36:52Speaker 1: if we are able to get the kids back to
- 36:54Speaker 1: their parents, I hope that these dudes are in on
- 36:58Speaker 1: it so that we can nail them to the wall
- 37:01Speaker 1: for it, because I feel like that is going to
- 37:04Speaker 1: be more satisfying than them simply thinking the kids were
- 37:07Speaker 1: dead because we're lazy and didn't want to look, and
- 37:10Speaker 1: then finding out that they were wrong. These don't seem
- 37:13Speaker 1: like the kind of people who have any empathy, So
- 37:16Speaker 1: realizing that they were wrong and that the kids were
- 37:18Speaker 1: indeed still alive, I don't think that's going to make
- 37:20Speaker 1: any impression on them whatsoever. I want them to be
- 37:24Speaker 1: actively punished for being like part of a conspiracy. I
- 37:30Speaker 1: will say that there is something about this that is
- 37:33Speaker 1: sort of like, now that we're getting to a point
- 37:35Speaker 1: where it's you know, the conspiracy goes all the way
- 37:39Speaker 1: to the top, I'm like, Pizzagate is that you but
- 37:42Speaker 1: it's not really the same thing. There's just a sort
- 37:45Speaker 1: of flavor of it, you know. Oh, Seraphim says, these
- 37:51Speaker 1: are the G five Marines, the group Smoker is with
- 37:53Speaker 1: who are infamous for being assholes, even among the Marines. Oh,
- 37:58Speaker 1: I didn't remember that, okay, because I do see like
- 38:01Speaker 1: the G five on their their what do you call
- 38:04Speaker 1: them uniforms. Sometimes it's not it's not like just on
- 38:09Speaker 1: their hats and weird spots. But uh, I don't think
- 38:12Speaker 1: that I knew everybody basically side eyed them. That's funny.
- 38:20Speaker 1: So okay, let's jump out of there. And I kind
- 38:24Speaker 1: of already talked about this deal with the children overall,
- 38:28Speaker 1: but like I said, they are really starting to lose it.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Ousap has tried sending them back to sleep and it's
- 38:36Speaker 1: not working. And eventually here comes Caesar and gestures with
- 38:43Speaker 1: candy outstretched hand, getting them all flipped out over it.
- 38:48Speaker 1: But later on we find out that he just tells
- 38:51Speaker 1: them like, I will take you back to the lab
- 38:55Speaker 1: and then give you candy, so be good children and
- 39:00Speaker 1: do that, And when they do, he's still out rambling
- 39:05Speaker 1: around the countryside and doesn't actually give them any which
- 39:09Speaker 1: is interesting because, like I guess, you have to keep
- 39:14Speaker 1: them in a state of desperation. Right, The reason that
- 39:19Speaker 1: they are so flipped out and willing to turn on
- 39:22Speaker 1: the straw hats is the fact that they are in withdrawal,
- 39:28Speaker 1: So it wouldn't make any sense to give because, like
- 39:31Speaker 1: I'm trying to imagine, if he had just given them
- 39:34Speaker 1: the candy right here and they were sort of restored
- 39:38Speaker 1: to themselves for a moment, would they realize what is
- 39:43Speaker 1: going on. It's it's hard for me to tell exactly
- 39:46Speaker 1: how smart these kids are meant to be, but I
- 39:50Speaker 1: don't know whether or not they would like kind of
- 39:54Speaker 1: shake themselves and be like, oh my god, I was
- 39:57Speaker 1: about to do something terrible, but now that you gave
- 40:00Speaker 1: me the candy, I realize and you're the one at
- 40:03Speaker 1: the you know, the root of all of this. Anything
- 40:05Speaker 1: like that, I don't think, so, I don't know. I'm curious,
- 40:11Speaker 1: But the fact that he is still keeping it from
- 40:15Speaker 1: them later on I was sort of grateful for because
- 40:19Speaker 1: I really still want the kids to be like removed
- 40:22Speaker 1: from this place, of course, and I have to assume
- 40:26Speaker 1: that if they are given this candy, we're just gonna
- 40:30Speaker 1: have to deal with the withdrawals again later. So keeping
- 40:35Speaker 1: them in this state of withdrawal. Eventually they will have
- 40:40Speaker 1: to come out of it, right, Like, I don't know
- 40:44Speaker 1: how long the course of this arc is going to
- 40:47Speaker 1: be in terms of the passage of days in the show.
- 40:50Speaker 1: But if Caesar forgets to give them the candy and
- 40:57Speaker 1: they begin to sort of like recover from the withdrawals,
- 41:03Speaker 1: it's possible they will come back to themselves anyway without
- 41:07Speaker 1: his help, which would be really nice. That would be convenient.
- 41:13Speaker 1: So I think I'm gonna go ahead and hope for that.
- 41:18Speaker 1: So let's see, I'm trying to see the uh oh right.
- 41:22Speaker 1: Of course, it's when the samurai is like, I need
- 41:25Speaker 1: to go and rescue my kid, and Zorro says, all right, well,
- 41:30Speaker 1: I'll definitely go with you, and he basically says to
- 41:32Speaker 1: the others. A little bit later, he's like, so, what
- 41:36Speaker 1: are you guys doing, And Sanchi is like, what are
- 41:39Speaker 1: we doing? What do you mean? We're coming with you?
- 41:42Speaker 1: Of course, I mean, what else did you expect us to?
- 41:46Speaker 1: We're just gonna separate and then have to track you
- 41:48Speaker 1: down later. No, we're not doing things that way. Before that, though,
- 41:55Speaker 1: the Smiley Monster is formed. It is so while because
- 42:00Speaker 1: it looks one of them says, is a frog. Another
- 42:05Speaker 1: person says, I think it's a lizard, and I kind
- 42:10Speaker 1: of felt like it looked like a frog immediately as well.
- 42:14Speaker 1: But it begins to shoot blobs toward them again, and
- 42:21Speaker 1: it's like moves, So it's so let's see. Brooke says,
- 42:27Speaker 1: I don't think that the copies are unlimited. The one
- 42:31Speaker 1: on that side is shrinking, and SANGI says, well, if
- 42:38Speaker 1: in that case, I think this one should run out
- 42:40Speaker 1: of mass soon. But what's the point And then maybe
- 42:44Speaker 1: it's trying to fling itself over here in pieces, which
- 42:48Speaker 1: we know is indeed what is being attempted right now.
- 42:53Speaker 1: We can't have it running wild on this side. People
- 42:56Speaker 1: are gonna get hurt. Well, there was a fit amount
- 43:00Speaker 1: of it that was already on that side, and I
- 43:03Speaker 1: guess these folks just don't know about it, that they
- 43:05Speaker 1: haven't seen it. And you know, once we have critical mass,
- 43:12Speaker 1: it's going to be so huge it'll be impossible to fight.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Like even having this samurai who can cut fire, I
- 43:22Speaker 1: really don't know if that's enough to defeat something like this.
- 43:29Speaker 1: That's like, I feel like, I don't know, you guys,
- 43:36Speaker 1: I'm trying to think of any way that one of
- 43:43Speaker 1: our friend's powers could could work for this, and I
- 43:49Speaker 1: just can't think of any The only one that I
- 43:52Speaker 1: thought would have been Frankie, like I said, because of
- 43:55Speaker 1: him maybe not needing oxygen the same way, but he
- 43:58Speaker 1: passed out along with everybody, so clearly that's not going
- 44:01Speaker 1: to work. I don't know, I mean, that's all I
- 44:07Speaker 1: can think anyway. I'm sorry, guys, I'm getting distracted by
- 44:11Speaker 1: trying to imagine, like in the future, what could be
- 44:14Speaker 1: going on. Oh okay, so the going back to the Centaurs.
- 44:23Speaker 1: These dudes are still such dunces. I can't believe how
- 44:30Speaker 1: easily duped they all are. They even are thinking like
- 44:34Speaker 1: the Marines are kind of wondering if they can get
- 44:37Speaker 1: back to their ship, and I was like, didn't your
- 44:39Speaker 1: ship get completely ruined anyway? I feel like it got
- 44:42Speaker 1: blown up, but maybe the ship wasn't as damaged as
- 44:45Speaker 1: it looked. Like That's the thing with the way that
- 44:47Speaker 1: this show works is things can look as if they
- 44:50Speaker 1: are completely fucked as we see later brown Beard are
- 44:53Speaker 1: still alive and it's fine, Like there's it was just oh,
- 44:59Speaker 1: somebody was down for like a day but didn't die.
- 45:03Speaker 1: I feel like brown Beard should have been the one
- 45:07Speaker 1: exception to this guys like this. For me, it doesn't
- 45:14Speaker 1: quite work that he was shot at point blank range
- 45:21Speaker 1: and didn't die, and that we're supposed to think that
- 45:27Speaker 1: the Cool Brothers are at all intimidating. Now apparently the
- 45:34Speaker 1: simplest of tasks cannot be accomplished by these two. So
- 45:41Speaker 1: in brown Beard isn't even anybody that's like important to
- 45:47Speaker 1: me in terms of the main cast, the straw Hats themselves.
- 45:52Speaker 1: I really would have thought, this is a guy we
- 45:56Speaker 1: can stand to lose. Here's a character that can be
- 46:00Speaker 1: killed because he's not one of our mains, just to
- 46:04Speaker 1: let us know how dangerous these guys really are. He's
- 46:07Speaker 1: going to be the sort of sacrificial lamb. And the
- 46:12Speaker 1: fact that he is still alive. I know that I
- 46:15Speaker 1: have talked about this before, and I have heard the
- 46:18Speaker 1: arguments that Oda was feeling, you know, like, we don't
- 46:22Speaker 1: need to kill people for things to have stakes, But
- 46:27Speaker 1: I really can't agree. I don't think you need to
- 46:31Speaker 1: kill as many people as another series might, But I
- 46:37Speaker 1: can't agree with the fact that, like, if this were
- 46:42Speaker 1: a different type of story, then maybe that would be true.
- 46:45Speaker 1: But this is a story based solely around fighting and violence,
- 46:50Speaker 1: Like explicitly, that is what we are here for, is
- 46:54Speaker 1: people beating this shit out of each other, fighting and
- 46:58Speaker 1: for dominance, trying to get stronger. And I just don't
- 47:02Speaker 1: really see how you have that kind of story, but
- 47:07Speaker 1: you make it so that nobody is ever really dead.
- 47:10Speaker 1: And like I said, I know that we have talked
- 47:13Speaker 1: about this before, and I understand the arguments that folks
- 47:18Speaker 1: have made or at least sharing what Oda's point of
- 47:23Speaker 1: view is on this, but I just personally, there have
- 47:28Speaker 1: been times where I've been willing to sort of handwave
- 47:31Speaker 1: it and be like, all right, well, I guess he's
- 47:33Speaker 1: still alive. But I really got to say out this
- 47:37Speaker 1: one in particular, was like, come on, not even him.
- 47:42Speaker 1: You can't even let him die, especially because him dying
- 47:48Speaker 1: as like the goober who fell for the Opie Doke
- 47:53Speaker 1: from Caesar. It's particularly tragic, you know, So it was
- 47:59Speaker 1: a more effective death then you would often be able
- 48:03Speaker 1: to pull off with a character that we haven't known
- 48:06Speaker 1: for very long. Most of the time you kill off
- 48:09Speaker 1: somebody who isn't integral to the plot, and you have
- 48:13Speaker 1: a sort of like, well, all right, I guess now,
- 48:17Speaker 1: I see that this person was an example, and it
- 48:23Speaker 1: didn't really hit me that hard, but I understand how
- 48:26Speaker 1: this is being used narratively, but because he was duped,
- 48:30Speaker 1: it's so much sadder and more pitiful, you know. And
- 48:34Speaker 1: then finding out that he is still here, I just
- 48:38Speaker 1: wanted to like throw something. And granted he comes in
- 48:42Speaker 1: and like kind of saves our friends, but it, ah,
- 48:49Speaker 1: I feel like there had to have been a better
- 48:51Speaker 1: way to do. I just don't think that having him
- 48:55Speaker 1: be shot at point blank range is then have the
- 48:59Speaker 1: cool brother use some other means to kill people. You know,
- 49:05Speaker 1: how do you explain that this guy is evidently fucking fine.
- 49:11Speaker 1: He's like, there's nothing wrong with him. It doesn't seem
- 49:15Speaker 1: like he has any injuries nothing, So it just I
- 49:20Speaker 1: don't know, Yeah, this one just really missed for me.
- 49:23Speaker 1: But what can you do? Sorry? We go back to
- 49:27Speaker 1: Monett talking with Virgo and she tells him I assume
- 49:31Speaker 1: that he's planning some sort of huge experiment. It's not
- 49:35Speaker 1: just big, but super dangerous. And this is when she
- 49:40Speaker 1: asks him, did you have a steak for breakfast today?
- 49:43Speaker 1: And he like takes it off his face and just
- 49:46Speaker 1: eats it. He says, I'd like to take a quick
- 49:49Speaker 1: look at the experiment before I go. Everyone outside will die,
- 49:54Speaker 1: and Money says probably, but don't worry. You're safe in here,
- 50:01Speaker 1: and Tashigi from the cage because they're in the same
- 50:05Speaker 1: room with everybody who has been captured, so all of
- 50:09Speaker 1: these folks are hearing them blithely talk about the fact
- 50:14Speaker 1: that every person outside of the walls is gonna die,
- 50:18Speaker 1: you guys. Tashiki starts yelling at him, Hey, Virago, those
- 50:24Speaker 1: men out there, you know they're g five soldiers, right,
- 50:27Speaker 1: they're your soldiers, and you're just leaving them to die,
- 50:31Speaker 1: and Verrago just says, yeah, guess so he just I
- 50:43Speaker 1: don't know why that got me so bad, guys, but
- 50:45Speaker 1: it really fucking did. That was funny. And this is
- 50:48Speaker 1: when he comes over and he's like, man, there's a
- 50:51Speaker 1: lot of big names in this cell. That is a
- 50:55Speaker 1: quite a view when I look in there, there's a
- 50:58Speaker 1: little walk down memory lane with Loofy and Robin talking
- 51:02Speaker 1: about the things that you've gotten up to, and uh,
- 51:08Speaker 1: of course, Smoker, who is by the way, still in
- 51:10Speaker 1: ta Shigi's body, is like, do you guys understand the
- 51:14Speaker 1: gravity of the situation. Why are you just like chit
- 51:16Speaker 1: chatting over here? So the two of them are him
- 51:20Speaker 1: and Tashigi are just sort of disgusted by this whole thing.
- 51:24Speaker 1: Is the word that they use over and over again.
- 51:28Speaker 1: I'm trying to find the spot here where it's of
- 51:31Speaker 1: all the people, the leader of the base was a
- 51:33Speaker 1: double agent. That's right. That may be characteristic of G five,
- 51:39Speaker 1: but it's a disgrace for the Navy. How could you
- 51:43Speaker 1: do this? Wait, I'm lost. So he's a bad guy. Indeed,
- 51:51Speaker 1: I'm surprised. It's this like is smoke that we're talking Like,
- 52:01Speaker 1: we're not talking about smoke or being it's virgo that
- 52:05Speaker 1: they're talking about. Right, Why are they surprised he's a
- 52:11Speaker 1: bad guy when he just said it was fine that
- 52:14Speaker 1: everybody out there would die. Like it just feels like
- 52:19Speaker 1: they're catching up really late. Maybe it's supposed to be
- 52:22Speaker 1: that they couldn't hear him talking, but no, because Tashiki
- 52:26Speaker 1: yells out like don't you care and he says no,
- 52:30Speaker 1: So and anyway we get the little like, uh, Joger
- 52:34Speaker 1: couldn't ask for a more reliable or convenient soldier to
- 52:38Speaker 1: work for him? He and he has been working for
- 52:42Speaker 1: him since the beginning, and again this is a sort
- 52:46Speaker 1: of weird moment where everybody like that knows Virgo is
- 52:51Speaker 1: horrified by this. But because I don't know Virgo, all
- 52:57Speaker 1: of these moments of revelation and how horrified to Shiey
- 53:00Speaker 1: and Smoker are don't really land that much for me
- 53:04Speaker 1: because I've only ever known him as a trader. So anyway,
- 53:09Speaker 1: He's like, I'm really glad that we were able to
- 53:13Speaker 1: get you guys in custody, though, because I have been
- 53:17Speaker 1: having to watch my back forever and I'm really really
- 53:20Speaker 1: sick of it. So I'm extremely relieved that I won't
- 53:24Speaker 1: be having to live like that anymore and keep my
- 53:27Speaker 1: head on a swivel. I've been in control of the
- 53:31Speaker 1: situation for a while now. I'm sure they won't suspect me.
- 53:35Speaker 1: And besides, on the off chance that they do find
- 53:38Speaker 1: out about this, I already know what I'm going to do.
- 53:42Speaker 1: I plan to well, I assume you can figure that out.
- 53:48Speaker 1: And then he just takes a drink of this liquor
- 53:50Speaker 1: that he has poured himself, and I was like, I
- 53:53Speaker 1: don't am I supposed to be able to figure this out?
- 53:56Speaker 1: I didn't is it that he will just kill everybody,
- 54:01Speaker 1: that he will kill himself. That doesn't seem like his style.
- 54:05Speaker 1: I don't know what it is that he is suggesting there.
- 54:08Speaker 1: Maybe it's just the Marines who are supposed to know,
- 54:13Speaker 1: but yeah, anyway, so he says, I can't allow anybody
- 54:17Speaker 1: to leave here knowing who Caesar Clown is, and I'm
- 54:24Speaker 1: gonna make sure that you guys don't leave here alive.
- 54:27Speaker 1: I love how Robin has almost no reaction. This is
- 54:31Speaker 1: so funny, you guys, the way she's just like ugh.
- 54:34Speaker 1: And this is when we find out that Joker is
- 54:36Speaker 1: actually do Flamingo. So I've kind of like the third
- 54:42Speaker 1: episode is the one in which the whole thing with
- 54:44Speaker 1: brown Beard happens. I don't you know. I talked about
- 54:48Speaker 1: a lot of that already, and the children and their
- 54:54Speaker 1: flashbacks and everything. There's a moment. I really like the
- 54:59Speaker 1: fact that, like the shorthand for Soanji having Nami like
- 55:06Speaker 1: in his body is that we've just put very elaborate
- 55:10Speaker 1: eyelashes on Sonjy, but Nami, like, at one point when
- 55:15Speaker 1: the kids are starting to fly off the handle, us
- 55:18Speaker 1: Up is ready to shoot them, and Nami is like,
- 55:21Speaker 1: you can't harm them, Like, I know that they are
- 55:25Speaker 1: acting fucked up right now, but they are victims and
- 55:28Speaker 1: it is not fair for us to go at them
- 55:31Speaker 1: this way. And she is correct, you know, but I
- 55:34Speaker 1: understand also why he is reacting the way that he is,
- 55:40Speaker 1: So all right, let's see this is okay. This is
- 55:44Speaker 1: the point where he is using the gas gas power
- 55:48Speaker 1: on him, on them and able to suck all of
- 55:52Speaker 1: the oxygen. He first demonstrates this by making the fire
- 55:59Speaker 1: go out from something that Sanjy earned that oosop shoots
- 56:03Speaker 1: and it's like this cool firebird and it just gutters
- 56:07Speaker 1: out part way to him, And for a moment, I
- 56:12Speaker 1: was like, that's weird. It almost looks like flames look
- 56:16Speaker 1: when they are deprived of oxygen. And I literally thought
- 56:20Speaker 1: that and then never put it together that that was
- 56:23Speaker 1: what he was doing until he spelled it out for me.
- 56:27Speaker 1: Even though I know that he ate the gas gas fruit.
- 56:32Speaker 1: I think that what I was sort of conflating this
- 56:35Speaker 1: with was the fact that what do you call Magellan
- 56:41Speaker 1: has specifically like a poison power, and so I was
- 56:45Speaker 1: sort of thinking of it as Caesar clown having a
- 56:49Speaker 1: poison gas powers, not just gas in general. And the
- 56:54Speaker 1: fact that he has the power over gas in general,
- 56:59Speaker 1: when I stepped back and think about it, is really
- 57:03Speaker 1: really overpowered. Like that's huge. It makes a lot of
- 57:09Speaker 1: sense why he is a chemist as well. I mean,
- 57:13Speaker 1: I'm assuming that he was a chemist like or had
- 57:16Speaker 1: interest before he even ate the fruit, but perhaps he didn't.
- 57:19Speaker 1: Perhaps he ate the fruit and then was like, oh,
- 57:23Speaker 1: you know what, I guess it would pay to learn
- 57:25Speaker 1: some chemistry and I would be able to manipulate things
- 57:28Speaker 1: really easily using this power. But anyway, okay, so this
- 57:34Speaker 1: is when he tells the kids that they need to
- 57:37Speaker 1: kill these straw hats take them down, and then brown
- 57:43Speaker 1: Beard comes in and he's got like, I don't know
- 57:48Speaker 1: if that's a mast or just a length of pipe,
- 57:53Speaker 1: and Caesar Clown actually tries to tell brown Beard that
- 57:58Speaker 1: he was only joking and take it so seriously. I
- 58:01Speaker 1: think he just doesn't know that brown Beard literally heard
- 58:03Speaker 1: a recording of him, and Brownbeard like tries to bash
- 58:08Speaker 1: him with the pipe, but of course, because this man
- 58:11Speaker 1: can turn into gas, that does nothing. I was sort
- 58:14Speaker 1: of laughing because brown Beard seems to be taken by
- 58:19Speaker 1: surprise at the fact that this man can't be hit
- 58:22Speaker 1: with a pipe, and I was just like, have you
- 58:24Speaker 1: met him? You're supposed to be more familiar with him
- 58:26Speaker 1: than anybody. But uh yeah, So he's like like trying
- 58:32Speaker 1: to follow him through the crowd of children because like
- 58:40Speaker 1: what Caesar starts to do is use them as a
- 58:45Speaker 1: human shield. A little bit, it felt to me because
- 58:47Speaker 1: he's going in and amongst them as if you know,
- 58:51Speaker 1: we'll try and hurt me, and you're gonna hurt these kids.
- 58:56Speaker 1: He does eventually evacuate them, though, so maybe that's not
- 59:00Speaker 1: he was doing. It felt like that to me, though
- 59:01Speaker 1: I don't know. And he brown Beard says like, look,
- 59:07Speaker 1: you tricked me, and that is one thing, but my
- 59:11Speaker 1: crew isn't going to go through that. Give them back.
- 59:14Speaker 1: I'm taking my men and leaving this place. And Caesar
- 59:18Speaker 1: Clown is like your men they all swore ohs to me.
- 59:24Speaker 1: They're not your men anymore. And you all be fucking
- 59:27Speaker 1: dead if it weren't for me, all the fools that
- 59:30Speaker 1: couldn't make it, Like that's why you're here, because you
- 59:33Speaker 1: didn't have it in you to go any further than
- 59:36Speaker 1: where you got. So I'm gonna keep you around as
- 59:40Speaker 1: guinea pigs and wait, for you to die. I was
- 59:43Speaker 1: sort of hope, hopeful that brown Beard would have a
- 59:45Speaker 1: transponder snail on him and that he was like, you know,
- 59:49Speaker 1: communicating this to the whole island so that everybody could hear.
- 59:55Speaker 1: But it seems not, and he goes once again to attack,
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: and Caesar Clann uses his gastinet. I had forgotten that.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: That's how he says, it is gastinet and there is
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: a massive explosion, and off to the side, our friends
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: are just like, that does not look good. And he
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: swoops down on Oosap and Nami and it's he's clearly
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: using the power to like pull the oxygen out from
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: their breath, and it's a given that they have been
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: captured at this point. I'm over time, so I'm just
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: gonna briefly touch on the fact that Chopper is trying
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: to like get into deal with his friends, like he
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: this dude, I don't know what it is. He gets
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: startled by Caesar Clown saying something and I think it's
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: because the balloon is coming, because he's got Caesar Clann
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: has one of those sort of I don't know if
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: you call this a dirigible, and that's what the kids
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: are on but the kids are all very frustrated because
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: they thought once they got here they were going to
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: be getting candy and they aren't. Caesar's touching base with
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: Monette and telling her like I got the children was
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: no problem. Did you prepare Smiley's food like I asked?
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: And She's like, yep, got everything handled. I did exactly
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: as you said. And she tells him like, the marines
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: are still stuck right in front of the shutters, so
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: just let me know when you want to do everything,
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: and we can handle it. And the transponder snails are
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: on standby outside. So basically what he's going to do,
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: Caesar or clown is play this like a huge commercial.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: He is going to have everybody watch the experiment that
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: he's doing, and that way, if any of them are
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: interested in purchasing this this weapon, they will know where
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: to find him, that they will know who to come to.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: And I find it very funny that like this is
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: all meant to have been sort of under the table,
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: but now he is doing something super super public, and
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: the fact that like Virgo is so worried about people
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: finding out about who Joker is, I don't feel like
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: you want to be drawing this much attention to Caesar Clown.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: If you're concerned about keeping Joker's identity a secret, I
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: feel like this is bad planning. But yeah, so that
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: is how the episode ends, is with him being like, Hey, everybody,
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: watch me do my live test. This is something you
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: can use for intimidate shin or disaster whatever. But if
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: this looks like something that you would be interested in,
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: I would be more than happy to make a deal.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: And Kid, we go to a couple of the different
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: like Pirate captains. Kid is watching and one of his
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: guys is like, poison doesn't seem like your style, and
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: he says it's not. But you know, I just kind
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: of like watching carnage sometimes, what can I say? And
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: that is how the episode ends. So kind of an
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: odd ending, considering that it seems like they're saying he's
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: not going to be buying this. You know that this
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: isn't for him, but I guess it's just meant to
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: underline the fact that he does not give a shit
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: about human life, So makes sense. All right, I'm gonna
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: wrap this one up, but thank you guys so much
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: for listening. Thank you again, Serafim for being in the chat.
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: Appreciate you a lot, hope that y'all are enjoying the coverage,
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: and until next time to loom mother fus that was
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: an unspoiled network
