- 0:01This is the knot that ties together the stars.
- 0:05The two who are one are the secret of all power.
- 0:09The two who are one are the might and right in things.
- 0:13His soul silence supports the world, and her His acts are her
- 0:18commandments, registers. Happy, inert.
- 0:22He lies beneath her feet, his breast.
- 0:25He offers for her cosmic dance, of which our lives are the
- 0:30Quivering Theatre, and none could bear but for his strength
- 0:34within. Yet none would leave because of
- 0:39his delight. His works, his thoughts have
- 0:43been devised by her. His being is a mirror, vast of
- 0:47hers, active, Inspired by her, he speaks and moves.
- 0:52His deeds obey her heart's unspoken demands.
- 0:57Passive, he bears the impacts of the world, as if her touch is
- 1:02shaping his soul and life. His journey through the days is
- 1:07her sun March. He runs upon her roads.
- 1:10Hers is his course, a witness and student of her joy and dole,
- 1:16a partner in her evil and her good.
- 1:20He is consented to her passionate ways.
- 1:23He is driven by her sweet and dreadful force, His sanctioning
- 1:28name initials all her works. His silence is his signature to
- 1:33her deeds in the execution of her drama scheme, in her fancies
- 1:39of the moment and its mood in the March of this obvious
- 1:43ordinary world where all is deep and strange to the eyes that see
- 1:50and nature's common forms are marvel wefts.
- 1:54She through his witness sight and motion of might, unrolls the
- 1:59material of her cosmic act, her happenings that exalt and smite
- 2:04the soul, her force that moves, her powers that save and slay
- 2:11her word, that in the silence speaks to our hearts, her
- 2:15silence that transcends the summit.
- 2:18Word her heights and depths to which our spirit moves, Her
- 2:23events that weave the texture of our lives and all by which we
- 2:28find or lose ourselves. Things sweet and bitter,
- 2:33magnificent and mean. Things terrible and beautiful
- 2:38and divine. Her empire in the cosmos she is
- 2:43built. He is governed by her subtle and
- 2:46mighty laws. His consciousness is a babe upon
- 2:49her knees, his being a field of her vast experiment.
- 2:55Her endless space is the playground of his thoughts.
- 2:59She binds to knowledge of the shapes of time and the creative
- 3:03error of limiting mind and chance that wears the rigid face
- 3:08of fate and her sport of death and pain and nessience, his
- 3:14changed and struggling immortality.
- 3:17His soul is a subtle atom in a mass, his substance a material
- 3:22for her works. His spirit survives amid the
- 3:26death of things. He climbs to eternity through
- 3:29beings gaps. He is carried by her from night
- 3:34to deathless light. This grand surrender is his free
- 3:39Will's gift. His pure transcendent force
- 3:43submits to hers in the mystery of her cosmic ignorance in the
- 3:48insoluble Riddle of her play, a creature made of perishable
- 3:53stuff in the pattern she has set for him.
- 3:57He moves, he thinks with her thoughts.
- 4:01With her trouble his bosom heaves.
- 4:04He seems the thing that she would have him seem.
- 4:08He is whatever her artist will can make, although she drives
- 4:12him on her fancies, roads at play with him, as with her child
- 4:17or slave to freedom and the eternal's mastery and
- 4:23immortality stand above the world.
- 4:26She moves her seeming puppet of an hour even in this mortal
- 4:32session in Bodies House, an aimless traveller between birth
- 4:37and death, ephemeral, dreaming of immortality to reign.
- 4:42She spurs him. He takes up her powers.
- 4:46He has harnessed her to the yoke of her own law.
- 4:50His face of human thought puts on a crown held in her leash,
- 4:55bound to her veiled Caprice. He studies her ways.
- 4:59If so, he may prevail even for an hour, and she works out his
- 5:04will. He makes of her his moment.
- 5:07Passions serf to obey. She feigns.
- 5:12She follows her creature's lead for him.
- 5:16She was made lives only for his use.
- 5:20But conquering her then is he most her slave?
- 5:25He is her dependent. All his means are hers.
- 5:29Nothing without her he can. She rules him still.
- 5:35At last he wakes to a memory of self.
- 5:38He sees within the face of deity the godhead breaks out through
- 5:43the human mould, her highest height.
- 5:46She unmasked and is his mate. Till then.
- 5:50He is a plaything in her game, her seeming Regent.
- 5:54Yet her fancies toy, a living robot moved by her energy
- 5:59springs. He acts as in the movements of a
- 6:02dream, an automaton stepping in the grooves of fate.
- 6:08He stumbles on, driven by her whip of force.
- 6:12His thought labours a Bullock in times fields His will, he thinks
- 6:18his own is shaped in her forge, obedient to world nature's dumb
- 6:24control, driven by his own formidable power, his chosen
- 6:29partner in a Titan game. Her will He has made the master
- 6:34of his fate, her whim, the dispenser of his pleasure and
- 6:38pain. He has sold himself into her
- 6:42regal power for any blow or boon that she may choose.
- 6:47Even in what is suffering to our sense, he feels the sweetness of
- 6:52her mastering touch in all experience meets her blissful
- 6:56hands on his heart. He bears the happiness of her
- 7:00tread, and the surprise of her arrival's joy in each event and
- 7:07every moment's chance. All she can do is marvellous in
- 7:11his sight. He revels in her a swimmer in
- 7:15her sea, a tireless amateur of her world delight.
- 7:19He rejoices in her every thought and act, and gives consent to
- 7:24all that she can wish. Whatever she desires, he wills
- 7:29to be the Spirit, the innumerable one.
- 7:34He has left behind his lone eternity.
- 7:38He has an endless birth in endless time, her finite's
- 7:43multitude in an infinite space.
