- 0:20Hey, everyone, welcome to Bless This Message, the True Grum Podcast.
- 0:23I don't care who is to say to. All Right, so we're back
- 0:25with this week's episode and we are going back to Texas. We're actually gonna
- 0:31be covering a serial killer this episode, Stu, which we don't always do,
- 0:35but we are. We do not. Anyways, do we have any
- 0:39life updates? Do? I'm not pregnant, thank god? Not No,
- 0:43you want to me, no, Steward, it's we've done. We've done
- 0:47enough. Okay, you've done it. Anyways. No, the baby,
- 0:51she's really good. She's sleeping six to seven hours a night. Don't hate
- 0:56me. I don't know why she is. All the children have good sleepers,
- 1:00except for the boy. He had call it until about six weeks and
- 1:03then he started sleeping well. But then he wasn't gaining enough weights and then
- 1:07we had to wake him up to feed him. It was a whole ordeal.
- 1:10Anyways, he's fine now though he's black. Ey's almost gone from from
- 1:15uh yeah yeah. And if you're on Patreon, we did. We did
- 1:19upload a photo from the Easter photos that they did so the patrons got to
- 1:23see it. But in that picture you couldn't see his black guy. But
- 1:27if you get the individual photos, you can see a little bit of the
- 1:30shiner under his side. She did a little bit, but she did.
- 1:34Wasn't gonna over edit the photos because it is. I mean, it is
- 1:38what it is. It's funny the kids do stuff like all this time,
- 1:40because that's one thing I don't really like. It's not that I don't like
- 1:42professional photos. I don't like too much of these stage photos. I'll be
- 1:47honest with you. I'm not a fan of the weird like baby poses where
- 1:49they're wrapped up and like put in flowers and look like cocoons or what like
- 1:56all the weird positions they put newborns in, you know, everything. I'm
- 2:00not such a fan of those, so I usually don't. I'm not If
- 2:02you have those photos, it's perfectly fine. I think that's great for you.
- 2:07It's just not for me. We can all have different likes and interest
- 2:09I'm sure you hate most of the things that I would like, so it's
- 2:14you know even anyways, So yes, we posted that there, but we
- 2:19wanted to think our patrons. We did have that, Like said the uptick
- 2:23last week, we noticed more people, so we appreciate you guys. So
- 2:25you can check us out there. We have buy me a coffee. We
- 2:31have oh Instagram and Facebook and be posting the April book Club pick for this
- 2:38month and then so check those out follow us there and we can read a
- 2:43book together. STU won't be reading it though, because I'm not. Besides,
- 2:47besides this podcast, I'm not sure if his reading comprehension levels. Wow,
- 2:55didn't see that one coming. Anyways, but we had something interesting happen,
- 2:59don't It was interesting. But so this guy came. So we have
- 3:01a problem in this neighborhood within the subdivision of door to door salesman specifically solar
- 3:07panels, solar panels, solar panels and is vivant what is that that's the
- 3:13Internet or something like that or vivit vivid Okay, anyways, there's two that
- 3:19are really bad. But the solar panel people are the worst. And like
- 3:22we've we've told them no before, like they'll come by and the salespeople are
- 3:25super super pushy. I mean they don't take note for an answer, they
- 3:29just keep and they're kind of like snarky back to you. So anyways,
- 3:31so this I see someone knock on the door. So our our door has
- 3:35like a little window that you can open very unsafe. With some miracle,
- 3:38we haven't been murdered yet. It's got like a little just tell everybody,
- 3:42it's got like a little latch and you can open it from the inside.
- 3:45Well, it's not any different than a window, though. Someone could break
- 3:47out a window and reach in and unlock your door too, but this one
- 3:51just happens to where you can open it and actually open the window like a
- 3:53little medieval people, you know, where you're checking the prisoners. So anyway,
- 4:00so this guy, so I opened the little window thing, and I
- 4:03look down and I see he's got he's carrying, and he's on one of
- 4:06these like hoverboard type situations. I think he was rolling in the door.
- 4:15Whatever these are, well in my like whenever I was a kid, it
- 4:18was all inline skates like rollerblades. Now I guess they're they got their hoverboards
- 4:24and their hover shoes and stuff. I think they even make hover shoes,
- 4:27maybe not sure. Anyways, he comes smoothly gliding of the front door,
- 4:31and he's doing the little weird like hover I can't see his feets. I
- 4:34don't know what's going on in there, but you know, when they're on
- 4:36the hoverboards. They're kind of moving around just so subtly to keep their balance
- 4:41or whatever. So he's gonna he's got his little briefcase thing on and you
- 4:45got the little shirt. I don't know what he was selling. And I
- 4:46immediately just tell him. I just say no. I don't say anything to
- 4:48him. I just say no. And he's like, well, you're in
- 4:51luck cause you weren't even on my list today to even try to sell anything
- 4:55to. And so he holds up a McDonald's cup and he says, I
- 4:59was just to see if I could throw this away in your trash bin.
- 5:01And I'm looking at him. I was like, okay, sure, and
- 5:04he and then he I closed the little window and he he hoverboards off or
- 5:10whatever anyway, so we still I can't even told to I said, okay,
- 5:13one he either murdered somebody and he's trying to dispose he needed a coffee
- 5:17while he was doing this as a little pick me up, and he needs
- 5:19to dispose of his evidence before he leaves the neighborhood. The coffee cups and
- 5:26murder weapon. No, but it has his DNA and he can't throw away
- 5:29in the trash can of the place where he killed the people, so he
- 5:30needs to go to a different trouse disposed of the cup was he was not
- 5:35covered in blood, but maybe maybe he Oh, I know what happened.
- 5:40He killed the salesman because he was agitated with them, stole their outfit,
- 5:46and then came a disposed of his coffee cup and the body. No,
- 5:49not the body. The body's still somewhere somewhere anyways. And then and then
- 5:54I said, well, maybe he's just using this coffee cup as a as
- 5:57a way to approach people. And Stu's like, he probably carries the coffee
- 6:00cup to every house and just says, oh, I wanted to throw us
- 6:03away and then see if we can strike up a conversation about whatever he's selling.
- 6:06But I did go out and check in our trash can after sufficient enough
- 6:11time had passed by, so I wouldn't run into him. He did actually
- 6:15throw away the coffee cup, so just throwing the loose trash in my trash
- 6:19can. So it wasn't he wasn't It wasn't a ploy to talk to people,
- 6:23but he could still be a killer. We don't know. We'll we'll
- 6:26let you, we'll update you if we have to. Testify. So I
- 6:30know, wait, I ain't got to testify nothing. You're gonna say.
- 6:33Yeah, she came in and told me about this guy. He had curly
- 6:35hair, he was wearing a coverboard. Anybody on this podcast that listen to
- 6:41that can testify just as well as I. Okay, all right, Steve,
- 6:44Well then you're not invited to my court case. Okay, fine,
- 6:46I'll be here with the children. All right. So that's what's going on
- 6:50with us today. Very exciting. So all right, so let's go ahead
- 6:58and get into our case out of Texas. And this was a serial killer
- 7:03I had never heard of, and I've heard of a lot of serial killers
- 7:08do but he was a Yes, I know, I had to watch your
- 7:11Ted Bundy show. Yeah we did watch that again, the one on Netflix.
- 7:15But all right, so mell Mellie, that's not the name. Well
- 7:20why to start this off? Mary Belle Reisinger Nay Carroll was born August twenty
- 7:27ninth, nineteen fifty one, to Wiley and Eleanora Carol in Italy, So
- 7:35there wasn't much known about Mary's past, but her family did eventually moved to
- 7:40Texas from Italy because both her parents were from Italy and everything, and Mary
- 7:46would go on to marry Joe Riisinger and they would have a daughter named Kristen
- 7:49in December of nineteen eighty three, and then they would settle in Huntsville,
- 7:53Texas and Huntsville, Texas. On October thirty first, nineteen eighty seven,
- 7:58Mary and her daughter Kristin stopped at a lot car wash to clean their car.
- 8:01Mary got out and she was spraying off the car while three year old
- 8:05Kristen played in the water spraying off the vehicle. And she was wearing a
- 8:09ballerina costume. Since, of course we're talking Halloween night and Mary is cleaning
- 8:16the car, a man pulls up in the truck in the bank next to
- 8:18them. He then approaches Mary and he quickly grabs her, and then he
- 8:22tries to pull Mary towards his vehicle, but she fights him off. Now
- 8:26this pisses the guy off, so he pulls out a knife, slits Mary's
- 8:31throat, leaves her for dead, and flees the scene. A passerby sees
- 8:35a woman lying on the ground covered in blood at the car wash. They
- 8:39called for police. I didn't put nine on one because of our discussion last
- 8:43week about nine on one about how it wasn't wildly used until later on.
- 8:50This was nineteen eighty seven. However, I still think it was still probably
- 8:54Huntsville, Texas wasn't on the cutting edge of technology. I wouldn't think Karon
- 8:58Crow Louisiana was. We had one in nineteen eighty seven. Yeah, how
- 9:01do you know, because that was old enough to know about that. Oh
- 9:05what you call a nine one one? You used to have to use a
- 9:09party line? What are you talking about? Well, I mean that was
- 9:11that was in the seventies. We had a party line out there. But
- 9:16by nineteen eighty seven we had our own individual phone number. We didn't have
- 9:20to use the party line anymore. I never I never used a party line.
- 9:28You get a specific ring if it's for you. That's so weird.
- 9:31But other people can hear your conversation if they decide they want to be And
- 9:33now, oh my god, that would be no wonder. All these ladies
- 9:37knew were so so interested, stayed at home and stuff like that, they
- 9:41could listen to other people's phone calls and they never know. That was the
- 9:43Internet of the day, I guess. Yeah. Instagram and Facebook of the
- 9:48well, Instagram Facebook people just put out their own business. Yeah, this
- 9:54is true. Well, no, they don't always. Sometimes you have to
- 9:58really read between the lines. You got to start saying, oh, they
- 10:01don't have a profile picture with their husband in anymore interesting, Oh, Sally
- 10:05doesn't have a ring on in that photo. I noticed he was spending a
- 10:09lot of time with Jane over There is this person looking for a job.
- 10:13Yes, that might have came up. This is what we I know,
- 10:18all of you guys do this. You see you have mutual friends on Facebook
- 10:22or whatever, and something happens and you say, oh, did you see
- 10:26such and such They were just at that with this person. And then we
- 10:28start trying to were you reading the comments due to see if you could figure
- 10:31it out. You have to check back tomorrow see if there's more comments.
- 10:35Yeah, well I noticed there was new comments, so we're gonna have to
- 10:37check again. This isn't that interesting. Someone we knew lost their or as
- 10:45career changed for some reason. This is the level. This is the level
- 10:50we're at. We're at a miccafe in the trash can, and someone hundreds
- 10:54of miles away with the job change, and we're the house anymore, the
- 11:00house. I'm trying to convince due to let me take the children strawberry to
- 11:03pick strawberries, but he claims that's too much car ride this two hours or
- 11:07three children, it's two hours, So I can't be stuck in this house
- 11:11forever. Stew I'm starting to make up theories about those door to door salesmen.
- 11:16Okay, things are getting rough anyway, this is how the shining happened.
- 11:22Okay, So they call the police, who arrive on the scene to
- 11:24find thirty six year old Mary rising or lying face down, covered in blood,
- 11:28and she had the car wash water hose around her chest and it looked
- 11:33like that's how she had fallen you know, the hoses hang down. She
- 11:37had fallen up, so she was kind of hanging in the air up with
- 11:39it under her armpits. They then see the parked car and inside is three
- 11:43year old Kristen, So they're just complete shock because now there's this little three
- 11:46year old in a ballerina outfit inside the car. So she's obviously terrified and
- 11:52she's locked herself in the car. She's almost four. She's she was born
- 11:56in December, so she's three in October, so she's almost four. Because
- 11:58I was saying we have a three year old, and I don't know if
- 12:01she would know to lock the but back then the car locks were manual so
- 12:05and stuff, and they left their car, but there's an option. But
- 12:09they also let kids kind of run free in the cars back then too,
- 12:13you know, like ours get in the car, they're strapped in. They're
- 12:16not they can't touch anything, they're not allowed to be in the car.
- 12:20I feel like back then you'd let a they had the big old back seats
- 12:22and you could run, you could really do some stuff. Back yeah,
- 12:28this lady had a big Mary had a big car like that with the big
- 12:31back seats. I'm sure just letting the three four year old run around the
- 12:35car was a common thing. So anyway, so she's too afraid to open
- 12:41the door to let the detective in. That's that's saying, you know,
- 12:45hey, i'm it's it's the police. It's okay. So finally she agrees
- 12:48to unlock the door and an officer grabs her out. He sees that she's
- 12:52wearing a ballerina outfit, and originally he thought that the outfit was red,
- 12:56but upon closer inspection, he realizes that the outfit actually was originally white,
- 13:01but now was covered in so much of her mother's blood it had turned completely
- 13:05red. So thankfully, Kristin appeared unharmed physically by this attack. Emotionally,
- 13:11I'm sure it's damage, yeah, because a neck wound like that, like
- 13:18cutting their I mean, there's just blood everywhere. So I'm sure she went
- 13:20over to her mom trying to get her to get up and stuff on the
- 13:24side of the neck or something that. Yeah. Blood. So they took
- 13:28her to the police station while they waited for family members to come and be
- 13:33with her. And they also they showed a picture on the Forensic Files episode
- 13:37I was watching anyways, they showed a picture of her and she's just her
- 13:39hair's just got blood in it. Her arms have this is the little girl,
- 13:45blood all over all over her arms, her and then her ballerine outfits
- 13:48just completely soaked. It doesn't look white all. Yeah, hair is matted
- 13:52in blood, and she just it's disturbing. It is disturbing. I can't
- 13:56believe you picked this case. The three year old didn't die. Still sad,
- 14:00Okay, well, it gets seemed sadder. Wait till the end.
- 14:03Okay. Then, now police do assess the scene, they find no weapon
- 14:07or any other evidence to assist in finding the killer. The only witness was,
- 14:11like we said, three year old Kristen and as there was not really
- 14:16any surveillance cameras as they are nowadays back in nineteen eighty seven, and we're
- 14:20talking in a small town like Huntsville, Texas. So whatever technology they had,
- 14:26they should have had some cameras. They're the ones that have the big
- 14:28prison in Huntsville, that's the one. I remember. I told you when
- 14:31I was a kid, they took us on a scared straight phild trip.
- 14:37But it wasn't a scared straight thing. I don't think I wasn't a bad
- 14:39kid. They took the whole class. Now, my brother has been no,
- 14:43my brother has been in Jewish and he definitely went on a scared straight
- 14:48situation and it did not work. Okay, well, he didn't end up
- 14:52in prison, so he maybe got dead work. He ended up in no,
- 14:56not prison, but they did take him to the pri and he did
- 15:01go to the death row inmate situation thing like the whole thing you see where
- 15:05they're scared straight and everything. He did, however, end up in boot
- 15:09camp though, which is a was a juvenile situation where he got shipped off
- 15:15somewhere in Texas to go to boot camp for however many months or whatever.
- 15:18It was like juvenile prison boot camp. Nice. Hopefully he doesn't listen to
- 15:22this. He might, he might. He would be the one. We
- 15:30don't tell anybody. He would be the one. Though, now we know
- 15:33about four people maybe that listen to this, because we don't tell anybody.
- 15:37We literally, whenever we tell you, guys, nobody knows we do this
- 15:39podcast. Nobody knows we protect it. If we have people come over,
- 15:43we take over. We take down all the podcasting equipment. So nobody asked
- 15:48the movers whenever they moved is asked about the what'd they ask you if you
- 15:52were I'm like, dude, you shouldn't be packing this stuff because he packed
- 15:58up my clothes back. I couldn't my clothes because I told him specifically,
- 16:02don't touch any of the stuff in this row of like clothes, bags or
- 16:04podcasting stuff, none of that. Oh, and then he asked if you
- 16:07were, Well, they just it was like who's the DJ. And I'm
- 16:10like, oh, man, I ain't supposed to be grabbing that stuff.
- 16:11That's that's not supposed to get boxed up. And then I started looking for
- 16:15this other stuff, so I had to start unpacking boxes. And then I
- 16:18must have missed the one missed the fact that my clothes bag was missing.
- 16:22Okay, that has nothing to do with the point that I was saying that
- 16:23the only person that's seen the podcast equipment was the mover guy, and I
- 16:27was horrified that he saw it. Well, I was still upset my clothes
- 16:30were missing. Okay, it was a long move as it was with no
- 16:33clean clothes. I don't know. I wasn't there, Yes, you were,
- 16:38No, I wasn't there during the movie. I was off. I
- 16:42was off getting it. I came up here to sign for the house and
- 16:48all the stuff and lefts Do at home with the movers and the two children.
- 16:52Yeah, they were packing out. Yeah, but whenever we drove here,
- 16:56I didn't have that bag. And just just to clarify, we did
- 16:59not pay for movers because it's very, very expensive. Because I relocated for
- 17:03work, they provided movers because let me tell you what it's we moved something
- 17:07we had we paid someone because we didn't have any help to lift some It
- 17:11was the safe I think we moved from our our one house in town and
- 17:15just across town and it was five hundred dollars just to move the safe from
- 17:18well we swapped the appliances and that plant. No, but it's still it
- 17:22was a lot of money. It was five or six hundred dollars to move
- 17:26something less than five miles. So no, we we are definitely DIY packers.
- 17:30But thankfully where I worked, they did pay for it. We got
- 17:37the met to throw away. Oh yeah, they pack everything and then they
- 17:40put stickers on stuff. So you're still fine. You turn something over even
- 17:42now and there's there's a sticker, little blue stickers and everything. Anyways,
- 17:48okay, okay, now that you sidetrack me, yeah, with your So,
- 17:52there was no there's no cameras in town, even though there's a prison.
- 17:56So I would think that you would probably want to have cameras, but
- 17:59it is a small town and they weren't as readily available as they are now.
- 18:02You can buy them off Amazon now and have a camera next day,
- 18:04and you can buy ten for the price that it cost you for one back
- 18:07when. Yeah, So, detectives interviewed people around town, but they had
- 18:12no leads. No one was coming forward with any information. There was nobody
- 18:18saying oh I heard such and such at the bar, claiming he murdered a
- 18:21woman in front of a little girl. Nothing like that, you know,
- 18:23usually they are running there, nobody that showed up with blood on their pants
- 18:27or nothing. So, with no physical evidence or witnesses to go by,
- 18:32the case quickly went cold. It would seem almost impossible to find Mary's killer
- 18:37at this point, so they would have to wait to see if the killer
- 18:40struck again, which seems like a I know, but unfortunately that's what it
- 18:44is. You see it all the time. They say, we just got
- 18:45to wait till they kill another person or try to kill another person for us
- 18:48to get a new lead, fresh leads. Yeah. So a year later,
- 18:52in October of nineteen eighty eight, a Texas A and M College student
- 18:56named Wendy Gant was walking to a car that was parked in the Kyle Field
- 19:00parking lot at lunchtime when she was approached by from behind by a man with
- 19:04a knife. Now he pushes her into the car and he quickly ties her
- 19:08up with the rope hands behind her back and then ties it off to the
- 19:12car. It seemed like he had he did this very quickly, so it
- 19:15seemed like he had done this before. Or practiced like Ted bundy'st So she
- 19:21tried to scream, but the parking lot was completely empty and the man was
- 19:25able to get in the car with her and drive off without anyone witnessing this
- 19:29abduction, which is crazy because it's a college campus. But I guess she
- 19:32was parked in a if she's at Kyle Field, which is their stadium,
- 19:36I guess for football and everything. I think. Anyways, I guess if
- 19:38she was parking there and there was no games or anything going on, she's
- 19:41probably pretty far away from the campus or anything. So the man drives Wendy
- 19:47to a rural area outside of college station. He pulls Wendy from the car
- 19:52and proceeds to rape, beat, and stab her. He then ties her
- 19:56to a tree and slits her throat. Wendy knew she could tell like this
- 20:00guy's not gonna leave unless she's actually dead, so she just completely goes limp,
- 20:06stops moving, plays dead. So she's naked, tied to a tree,
- 20:10covered in blood, stabbed, beaten, raped, throat slit, and
- 20:12just pretends to be dead, listens for him to leave his footsteps to leave
- 20:18when she feels like he's a safe distance or he's completely gone. She was
- 20:22able to untie herself despite all these injuries, and she makes it to the
- 20:27nearest roadway in a construction worker Caesar and calls for help on his radio.
- 20:32Wendy's then rushed to the hospital and Wendy amazingly she survives. She was put
- 20:37into like, I think a coma or something that untils she could heal.
- 20:42Yeah, but this is a horror movie, though, can you imagine in
- 20:47nineteen Well, the other one happened on Halloween night, which is creepy.
- 20:49This one, this is you're standing by a this is around Halloween again,
- 20:55You're out working on the road, and it really is out of a horror
- 20:57movie. A girl naked covered in blood comes stumbling out to the roadway and
- 21:03you're just like, what the fuck? Yeah, it's creepy. As police
- 21:08are looking into the attack and attempted murder of Wendy, they talk to other
- 21:12police departments in the surrounding areas. They see a lot of similarities between Wendy's
- 21:17case and Mary's from a year earlier in Huntsville, which is just about an
- 21:22hour away from College station. They also find out about two other rapes and
- 21:26murders that were unsolved. The first bean was Alice Martin. The first being
- 21:32was the first being human being. The first bean Alice Martin. On February
- 21:37thirteenth, nineteen eighty seven, seventy two year old Alice was taking her daily
- 21:41walk along a farm to market road in Norman g Texas. I've never heard
- 21:47of it, neither of you know. When I grew up in Texas,
- 21:49and there's so many towns in Texas, it's just impossible to have heard them
- 21:53all. It's just too much going on. But a farm to market road,
- 21:57that's kind of a you wouldn't have a lot of traffic on a farm
- 22:02to market road. Those are called fm rowans, people that are not from
- 22:07around here anyway. So Normangy is about forty five minutes from Huntsville in one
- 22:14direction and College Station in almost like a triangle with each other. Norman GY's
- 22:19up at the top, hunts Falls down to the side at the bottom and
- 22:23then over and it makes like a triangle. So whoever this is is working
- 22:26in this area, but they're they're going an hour or so away, just
- 22:33enough to for it not to be on everybody regular jurisdiction. Yeah, this
- 22:37isn't like I said, this is nineteen eighty seven. There's nobody posting on
- 22:41Facebook about this savage murder in Huntsville, and then people saying oh over in
- 22:45Normangy, like, oh, yeah, who we can. They don't have
- 22:48internet in Normangy. You don't think they have it right now. No,
- 22:51we're going to hear about it if they do. Now is what Alice is
- 22:56walking, She is approached by a man in a vehicle and she is abducted.
- 23:00The man then drove her to a more remote area in nearby Robertson County,
- 23:03where he proceeds to rape her in his vehicle. He then strangles her
- 23:07with an item and stabbed her four times in the back, leaving her there
- 23:11to die. Her body was discovered the next day, and police had very
- 23:15little leads on the murder and the case went cold pretty quickly. Yeah,
- 23:22so we know this information obviously because I mean, we're telling your story because
- 23:26they found out who did this. But at the time, whenever they all
- 23:29they came upon was her body and they had no other information. They don't
- 23:32even know how she got there, nothing or anything. So at the time
- 23:36they're just a stranger rebduction, thrown her into a field, raped and murdered
- 23:41her and thrown her into a field away from her home. I mean it's
- 23:45they probably had a probably took them a while to even I d her,
- 23:48you know. So the second rape and murder was twenty six year old Deborah
- 23:52Ewing on July tenth, nineteen eighty seven. So this was so Alice was
- 23:57murdered in February of nineteen. Deborah is murdered in July of nineteen eighty seven.
- 24:03And then whenmember we our first murdered Mary was in October of nineteen eighty
- 24:07seven. So this is quick. He's quickly hitting doing this. This is
- 24:12every couple months. He's starting to escalate. Yes, So in July tenth,
- 24:18Deborah was leaving the Vision Center in Huntsville, Texas, where she was
- 24:21abducted at gunpoint. That was a bird. You can hear the birds outsides.
- 24:25Do the birds are chirping at springtime? Deborah was taken to a undeveloped
- 24:30subdivision in Montgomery County, which is just south of Huntsville, which I think
- 24:34it's over in. I think it was over in that Conroe type area.
- 24:38So you might be living if you living Conra, you might be living in
- 24:42the subdivision. Where she was murdered. We don't know. I don't know
- 24:45where exactly where it's at, So just saying be careful, you know,
- 24:51be careful. Yes, Now, she was rape, strangled, and stabbed.
- 24:56Her body was discovered two days later. Now, during this investigation of
- 25:00the murder of Deborah, a man named Daniel Corwin was interviewed. He was
- 25:06a cabinet and saw her that had worked at the Vision Center that day.
- 25:08This on some cabinets they were having put in. Now Corwin had a serious
- 25:14criminal pass. So with Deborah they did have a little bit more to go
- 25:17on because she was taken from a poor parking lot, from a business.
- 25:22There's people that interact with her just before this happened, and this guy happened
- 25:26be one of them. So Corwin. In nineteen seventy five, he had
- 25:30abducted a fellow classmate named Brenda. He pushed her into her vehicle and then
- 25:34took her to a rural area. And this is all in high school,
- 25:38raped her, stabbed her, and then flit her throat like this is in
- 25:41high school. This guy did this? Why is he out? So Brenda,
- 25:47she did survive, thankfully, and was able to get some help.
- 25:49Now, in the ambulance. The first thing she told police was that Daniel
- 25:52Corwin did this. Now Brenda survives the attack and Korn was arrested and charged
- 25:57with kidnapping, rape, and attempted murder. He was sentenced to forty years
- 26:02with the chance of pearl. Supposedly this was nineteen seventy five. People were
- 26:07saying, oh, well, Brenda was loose, did he really rape her,
- 26:11take her or did this just they were doing something? And I know,
- 26:15I'm just saying there was a lot about like she went, she's getting
- 26:19sabbed. The Korun guy was involved with this church, this presby the Presbyterians,
- 26:26the Presbyterian Church, and supposedly they came to bat for him and said,
- 26:32oh, well he's a really good guy and everything that, and that's
- 26:33how we ended up with forty years with the chance of pearl from this attack,
- 26:38because they did say she was loose and stuff, and so I think
- 26:41they were trying to paint the picture that she willingly, yes, she willingly
- 26:45went with him. And then at when they were out there, then all
- 26:48of a sudden things got out of hand, which I don't know how slitting
- 26:51someone's throat is just getting out of hand. But whatever, this is nineteen
- 26:56seventy five. Some stupid shit happened, you know, with things like that
- 27:00back then, Soway. So due to overcrowding, which we just had this
- 27:06in the last case. Remember there was all those rules about getting out of
- 27:10prison, even when the guy that killed the two women was able to get
- 27:15out of prison after seven years, even though he'd been on like free for
- 27:18thirty something years while they were trying to solve that. So he happened to
- 27:21be arrested at this time and convicted during this overcrowding in Texas. And so
- 27:26after just nine years he was let out of prison because he was up.
- 27:30He had this parole hearing and they let him out. Now, due to
- 27:33this history, Korun was as prime suspect in the raper murder or Deborah.
- 27:37However, when interviewed by police, he gave a strong alibi and they said
- 27:41he just didn't appear to be guilty according to him. And again again this
- 27:45is like the stupid thing where the police maybe it's a small town and they're
- 27:48just like, oh, well, he seems like a nice guy. He
- 27:51doesn't look like a serial killer. So anyways, so he was and they
- 27:55didn't really go into his alibi or whatever. But they said he did have
- 27:57an alibi is let go on, which obviously if they looked further into it
- 28:02it would have fallen through. But whatever, so he was let go as
- 28:06they had no other evidence against him. Yeah, if they would have followed
- 28:10up on his alibi, they would have found out he was lying and go,
- 28:11why is that some bitch lying? Yeah, but he didn't seem like
- 28:15he seemed real put together and calm and wasn't upset about being accused of murdering
- 28:22Deborah. While police are looking into these other murders, Wendy wakes up and
- 28:26the first thing that she wants is a pen and paper. She cannot speak
- 28:30because her throat has been split so deeply. She writes down that someone needs
- 28:36to feed her horse and get her a sketch artist. Sure, what do
- 28:40you read that? Like? You're this is how you can tell Stuke had
- 28:42nothing to do with It's like feed horse. That's not a euphemism. No,
- 28:49she apparently had a horse and she woke up very concerned that nobody was
- 28:52taking care of the horse. So she's like the first thing she wrote was
- 28:56someone go feed my horse, and then the second thing was, I need
- 29:00to get me a sketch artist because she's like, I'm gonna catch this motherfucker
- 29:02who did this to me. Police bring in a forensic sketch artist, and
- 29:07this was going to be a difficult task. However, since Wendy could not
- 29:11speak, they had to do all this sign language basically to communicate. Well
- 29:15not sign language, dude, Well she didn't know sign language, paper,
- 29:19not actual sign language. But she had to shake her head, shake her
- 29:23head. No, she was She could just cat a piece of paper and
- 29:30she would write down. She didn't have to learn sign language to communicate with
- 29:33the woman. She could still write just like she wrote, I could feed
- 29:37my horse. So no, she didn't need sign language too. Okay,
- 29:41that's what you're going with, Yeah, okay, So anyway, so they
- 29:45go through this process. They spent hours working on this sketch, but they
- 29:49were able to come up with a very clear sketch of the man that she
- 29:55believed had attacked her. So she believes that this is the person, a
- 30:00very good image of that person. Police release the sketch and within an hour
- 30:06they had a tip. It came from a corrections officer at a local prison
- 30:11and the sketch looked just like a former inmate he had seen by the name
- 30:14of Daniel Corwin. Yes, so the same guy that was questioned in Debora's
- 30:19murder. So with this information, they bring Corwin in for an interview and
- 30:25he denies any involvement and he's let go as the police have no evidence against
- 30:30him. They kind of fo him around a little bit. They take photos
- 30:32and everything. They just can't find anything. They provide a lineup for Wendy
- 30:37to pick from, and she does pick out Korn's photo, but she's not
- 30:41one hundred percent sure it is him, so they just can't go off of
- 30:44her identifying him. It's just not solid, a solid choice. She didn't
- 30:48say that's you know, like the time I picked someone up from a lightehupster.
- 30:52She wasn't certain like I was, So tell us that story one day.
- 30:56It's all I have, Stuart. That isn't salesman Kelly Clarkson. Oh,
- 31:02and Kelly Clarkson, I forgot that's Avidence's Amanda Bynes too. Oh I
- 31:07did meet Amanda Bynes, didn't I say that? I think so? Yeah.
- 31:11We were watching Quiet on the set and I met Amanda Bynes. Oh,
- 31:15yeah, I talked about that last time, so all right. So
- 31:18they do present what they have to the DA, which is basically, hey,
- 31:22we know it's this guy, and they're like, you guys don't have
- 31:26any actual evidence, so we can't you can't just say we know it's him.
- 31:30We just knows. This defense attorney is going to eat us home.
- 31:32Yeah, So they're like, you got to come back with some actual hard
- 31:36evidence or we can't file charges against this guy. So police go back out
- 31:40in the community and they continue to interview people to try to get some more
- 31:44information about Daniel Corwin. So the police speak to the man who owned the
- 31:49cabinet store where Corwyn worked and had been and he had been suspicious of Corwin.
- 31:55He had hired him after meeting him at the present when he was serving
- 31:57time. The owner wasn't serving time, but he had volunteered there at the
- 32:02prison so that he could teach inmates woodworking skills that they could use on the
- 32:07outside, which is a which is a good So watching we've been watching a
- 32:12lot of lock Up, okay, or I have, and Steve's been having
- 32:15to suffer through it, yes, anyways, and it is good, like
- 32:17they're they're teaching him to weld, uh lot and cook and bake and and
- 32:23so they can automotive woodwork and yeah, and it's great and all, but
- 32:28I don't give a fuck about teaching a rapist and a murderer or tempted murder.
- 32:31I mean he basically, I never understand attempted murder charges. You tried
- 32:37to kill the person, she slit her throat, He had every intention of
- 32:40her being murdered. Why he should get a shorter sentence because he didn't,
- 32:44he failed at it. I don't understand. But I don't. I don't
- 32:46want to teach a rapist and a murderer a skill because you know what,
- 32:50he should never be out of prison in the first place. So this guy's
- 32:52got a soft spot for this Corwin guy, which just agitates me because I
- 32:58understand like helping the mates, and I think it's a good thing. But
- 33:00there's people that you can't help, and this is one of them. Pedophiles
- 33:05and ripens, yes, and murders. You can't help them, Well,
- 33:07depends on why they murdered. Yes, yeah, it's murders a murky thing.
- 33:12Yes, why you're just setting that up for your defense? Yes,
- 33:16I see how it is. Now they we had our reasons. Sometimes you
- 33:21have your reasons. Like the guy who murders you know, someone who rapes
- 33:24his daughter, kills their child, and they go and murder the guy.
- 33:28I'm okay with it. I'm fine with that. Yeah, they don't even
- 33:31need to go to trial. Yeah, I we're good. Or like the
- 33:35guy that the drunk driver who killed that Remember the guy the dad showed up
- 33:39or something on the scene and he killed the drunk driver that killed his kids
- 33:45or something in the car and everything like that. So yeah, well,
- 33:51you know, comes around, goes around. Yeah, anyway, getting back
- 33:54to our story, when women began being murdered in the area, he quickly
- 34:00suspected Corwin was doing it, but he didn't notify police let him know anything.
- 34:06Yeah, he's in Huntsville with the with so Deborah, he's interviewed.
- 34:12Corwin Goes is interviewed in Debora's murder. They worked a job at the Vision
- 34:15center. And the guy is like, Eh, this seems a little sketchy
- 34:20because I know I know Corwin's history and stuff, but he still gives him
- 34:23the benefit of the doubt because the police he's going to come looking for him.
- 34:28I don't know, No, I think this guy's just got a soft
- 34:30spot for inmates and he's taken it to There's always extremes, and this guy's
- 34:32taking it to the extreme personally, is what I think. Well, police
- 34:38do find him and they do speak to him about Corwin, and he said
- 34:42he recalls Corwin coming into work the day after Halloween when Mary was murdered,
- 34:46and he had scratches on his hands, but that is the only thing that
- 34:50he can remember from that time period. The owner did eventually let Corwin go
- 34:54as he felt uneasy about having him work there with so many missing women.
- 34:59Well, pishment right there. Guy lost his job. Way to go.
- 35:02I know he'll never murder again. He lost his job. How will he
- 35:05ever way to go? Corwin's boss, Well, they gave a name,
- 35:08but I don't know if that's that. You know, sometimes they change the
- 35:12names in the deck to protect the assholes. I don't know. So we're
- 35:15not gonna throw We're not throw the name out there. But so when reviewing
- 35:20the evidence from Wendy's case, so you know, they're talking to people in
- 35:23town and everything. That the other step is they've got to go back and
- 35:25try to see if there's any evidence that they miss so they're reviewing the evidence
- 35:30and they now that they've kind of zoned in on Corwin. They had recovered
- 35:35a single fingerprint on the driver's side door of her car that didn't belong to
- 35:38Wendy. Now now that they have somebody to match it to, there are
- 35:42hopes that this will be that big brick break in the case. So they
- 35:45have to mel the fingerprint in and it goes off to the police station where
- 35:49Corwin was arrested back in nineteen seventy five in his juvenile record to see if
- 35:53it was a match. Now it would take a few days, but they
- 35:57called back and said it was a match, and they finally had that solid
- 36:00evidence linking Corwin to Wendy because there's no reason that his fingerprint should be on
- 36:05her car at all. There's absolutely he didn't say, oh yeah, I
- 36:07talked to her, nothing like that. He shouldn't have been there. Now,
- 36:10with this information, they were able to arrest coryn on rape and attempted
- 36:15murder charges of Wendy, And with all this evidence against him, he ends
- 36:19up pleading guilty to those crimes and was sentenced to ninety nine years. Detectives
- 36:22continued to press Korwin, trying to get him to finally admit to the other
- 36:27crimes that they believed he had committed. Finally, a detective brings him to
- 36:30the crime scenes, specifically the murder scene of Mary Risinger. The detective said
- 36:37he kind of went into a trance and began telling him exactly what happened,
- 36:40point after point. Basically he did this for all three murders, and they
- 36:45finally had their confessions that they needed to close these three cases. And apparently
- 36:50he the detective that took Corwyin around. He told him, he said,
- 36:53Hey, you know you telling me all this, I'm going to be on
- 36:55the stand testifying against you, trying to get you put to death. And
- 36:59he said, I'm aware that he knew the game was over. This was
- 37:04Dan He might not want to spend ninety nine years in jail, yeah,
- 37:07or however long it took him. The croak off behind prison. Yeah,
- 37:10because when you're put in seg which is segregation, because I've learned that from
- 37:15lock up, it's rough, you know, especially if you get put on
- 37:19suicideal watch or anything at that they take everything away from you. You only
- 37:22get your mattress, I believe for it's taken away like five am in the
- 37:29morning, depending on the prison or whatever. Anyway, So yeah, seg
- 37:32is difficult because you're locked up twenty three hours a day. You only get
- 37:36one hour of yard times too. I don't even get that. No,
- 37:40anyway, Corn was charged with the murders of Alice, Deborah, and Mary,
- 37:45and in nineteen ninety he was convicted of the capital murderers. He was
- 37:50sentenced to death, and he was executed on December seventh, nineteen ninety eight,
- 37:54by lethal injection, which, by today's standard, seems pretty quick to
- 37:58go from conviction to sentence being carried out in a death penalty. I guess
- 38:02he waved all his appeals on the He must have just I'm not sure,
- 38:07but he must have just been like, let's go, kind of like that
- 38:10old Oklahoma bombing guy McVay. He denied any appeals, he waved all those
- 38:17appeals. Yeah, he was like, let's do this. Well, he
- 38:22blew up a freaking daycare. I mean, no, that was terrible.
- 38:25I mean, it's bad when you kill people, but when you kill children
- 38:30and discriminately and just kill everyone, I mean, thankfully he apparently he never
- 38:34saw the three year old that was running around. He didn't really see her,
- 38:37and so thankfully nothing happened to him because he's a cycle, ain't I
- 38:39tell him what he would have done? Yeah, So, but that's so
- 38:45anyway, So Kristen, the little girl that was Mary's daughter, that was
- 38:51covered in blood and witness all this, so you would think that nothing else
- 38:53bad could happen to you because this is like, yeah, this is like
- 38:58one of the worst things I could have happened, and so you would think
- 39:00nothing else happened. So I'm like looking up information about this case, and
- 39:05I find out that Kristen actually so she had three or four children, married,
- 39:09three or four children, live in normal life everything that anyway, she
- 39:14died at thirty four in twenty eighteen. She died from a What happened was
- 39:20a she was riding along with her. It was someone related to her because
- 39:22they had the last name rising her and both of the women were killed.
- 39:25But there was a just to end this on a make this even worse anyway,
- 39:31So she's driving along an eighteen wheeler, had a blowout, it crossed
- 39:36the media and hit him head on, and she she died at the age
- 39:37of thirty four. So just terrible. All around. Everything's terrible and nothing
- 39:42is good. This is why we don't leave the house now. Stuw's never
- 39:45going to let me take the children. Yeah, yeah, you want me?
- 39:47You want me to put the children in a van drive for two hours
- 39:50to pick strawberries. When I a van, what do you think we're taking
- 39:53them? Oh, we have to. The problem is is that we didn't
- 39:57prepare for this, so we do not have a vehicle large to carry all
- 40:00these things. We do. We do have it, it's Stew's truck,
- 40:02but truck it's kind of old. So we have to take two separate cars
- 40:07and it's a tight like it'll fit the three car seats across the back,
- 40:10but it's gonna be all our baggage will have to go on the open bed.
- 40:15And in fact, so if we ever do any trips or road trips,
- 40:17we're gonna actually have to at this point rent a mini van to go
- 40:22and do that. We're gonna have to rent vehicles we think we might want
- 40:24in the future and find out which one way to want. Yeah, I'm
- 40:27just we you know, it's just a lot to go and get another vehicle
- 40:31that's a car payment, that's yeah, we don't have any car payments.
- 40:36We don't have any car payments right now, like we just drive older vehicles,
- 40:38so our cars are paid off, so we would we so we need
- 40:44to save all that money to purchase another car and everything in minivans. You
- 40:49know, the car market day, everything's up, so everything's just expensive,
- 40:53and a mini van's expensive. But that's really what we probably need as a
- 40:57minivan, sadly, because they are the easiest. So maybe we'll just rent
- 41:00some cars, go on some trips, try out some vehicles, see what
- 41:05we like. But we ultimately know that the minivan's probably gonna be the I
- 41:08don't think we're gonna be able to get away as much as i'd like an
- 41:13suv. Yes, it'll fit the amount of people that we have. However,
- 41:15I know it's much more difficult to get them in, especially at this
- 41:21age, because you have to help each one of them get in their car
- 41:23seat. They can't they can't do anything on their owner at this point.
- 41:27So it's like you can send like the seven year old, be like,
- 41:30hey, buckle yourself up back there while you deal with the other two or
- 41:31anything at that let's go. Yeah, we have they're not old enough to
- 41:36put them to work yet helping us. So anyways, so yeah, I
- 41:42guess my strawberry picking after this, I'm not gonna be allowed to go.
- 41:45I'm just in prison here my little window. It's sick. Stu keeps hitting
- 41:52the microphone because he's unprofessional. That's a problem. Well, the problem is
- 41:57is we still haven't so we've unpacked our entire house. But as you can
- 42:00imagine, the one room that has been neglected is the office one where we
- 42:06record the podcast and everything. So it's a disaster. So we're just like
- 42:09crammed in here with all of our ship that needs to be unpacked and set
- 42:13up. If we could probably be more comfortable in our closet, if just
- 42:16that remember the closet days anybody been around, we sat in our closet.
- 42:22Yeah, there, he's just set in our closet. Oh we should we
- 42:28could record in our closet. Yeah, I think there's an air condition event
- 42:30in this closet. Oh is there? So you know we could we could
- 42:34record in the closet, and that way we could it'd be quieter maybe,
- 42:39I don't know, but then we'd had to set up in the closets.
- 42:43That would suck. Anyways, all right, so thank you for listening this
- 42:46week's episode. Stew, do you have a y'all need Jesus? Of course
- 42:50I do. Okay, Well, people are doing stupid shit all the time,
- 42:52everywhere everywhere. Yeah, I know, I witness it daily in this
- 42:55household. Wow, I'm sure you're talking about me and not the children.
- 42:59I would just like to add the vehicle that we have, Stew's truck.
- 43:06It can safely fit all through him. It's just a pain and ass to
- 43:07put him in. I don't want people to think we're just gonna put him
- 43:10because we're cheap, We're just gonna put him in cram all the children.
- 43:15Do you not understand? Do you know? I swear to God I talked
- 43:16to Stu, and it's like I literally didn't have the conversation. I came
- 43:21in. We had this whole conversation earlier about the guy, the Seales guy
- 43:24in the cup, and then we had ten conversations in between them. Oh,
- 43:27it wasn't that long. I waited about an hour and then I went
- 43:30out and checked the thing and I came back in. I said, Oh,
- 43:31the cup's in the graa, in the trash bin or whatever, and
- 43:36he's like the cup what are you talking about? I'm like, are you
- 43:37fucking kidding me? Right now? If I said the dirt was wet,
- 43:42you'd be like, what are you talking about? The dirt sweat? Anyways,
- 43:44he's looking because I told you I went on. I planted those damn
- 43:47sun hitting your microphone. I'm throwing my hands around in frustration at you.
- 43:52Okay, well stop moving. Nobody can see your sign language. God,
- 43:57is this over yet? Anyway? I just want to say Stu's truck is
- 44:00very safe. It is a very old truck though. Into you know,
- 44:02this is when you know old. No, it is old. Whenever you
- 44:06think you're whenever you whenever you yes, that's we're getting old because we don't
- 44:12realize that it's twenty twenty four. So that is a old truck. That's
- 44:15a seventeen year old truck. That's an old truck. It's the first year
- 44:20that came out with that body style. I understand what I'm saying. It's
- 44:22an older truck. So I don't know if it necessarily we want to take
- 44:25it on long road trips because it may or may not survive. It's not
- 44:30driven that often. I have a a like a little rab four, but
- 44:34it's not gonna it only fits two children in it. But Stu's truck can
- 44:37safely fit all three children. It's just a pain in the ass because it
- 44:39obviously there's no space to put them in, Like you have to maneuver to
- 44:44get them all in there so to actually put them in the car seats.
- 44:47But it is big enough. I just want to be clear, do you
- 44:50fail vindicated now that you got to finally because you felt like somebody was shaming
- 44:53you. I feel like people are like, oh, they're so cheap,
- 44:54they don't even buy a safe vehicle for the all three of the child.
- 44:58But we do have a safe vehicle. It's just that it's not convenient to
- 45:01get them. Just like I would like a Toyota Highland or the New Big
- 45:06Ones or whatever, I can't remember what they're called, but they have a
- 45:07third row and everything. I think that would be great, But the problem
- 45:10is that's not convenient get at all that. Yeah, probably not going to
- 45:15be convenient. Yeah, getting my fat ass up there in the Texas heat,
- 45:21trying to like sweat and be sweating and everything. No, it's not
- 45:24for me anyways. Are you sure? All right? So let's just do
- 45:27this y'all need Jesus. Now that I've spoken, mind, have you gotten
- 45:32it all out what I needed to do? Yes? All right, this
- 45:36is coming to us from w k MG. It's really fun. A woman
- 45:43had missed a shoplifting while playing a game of twenty one Florida or not Florida.
- 45:49What's twenty one? Well you'll find out when I read the story Florida
- 45:54Sandford woman, which is in Florida. Flagler County, Florida. A Sandford
- 46:01woman was arrested earlier this week after deputy said she admitted to walking out of
- 46:06a Palm Coast Walmart. That sounds like a nice Walmart. Palm coast to
- 46:09sunny, sandy palm trees. Everywhere Florida is a facade steward. It'll suck
- 46:15you in and then spitch you out. Okay, Now, I like Florida
- 46:19via a hurricane. This is true. The hurricanes ain't no joke. Now.
- 46:23She was come out of the Palm Coast Walmart with a shopping cart full
- 46:27of stolen goods, according to Flagler County Sheriff's Office. Deputy said they were
- 46:31called to the business Monday around six twenty six pm to investigate a reported theft.
- 46:37Actually, this is coming to us from March twenty eight, so just
- 46:39a week or so ago. According to the Sheriff's office. Caller explained that
- 46:44the woman later identified as Amber McCann, aged thirty, had passed all points
- 46:49of sale and refused to show her receipt for a cart full of items.
- 46:52McCann reportedly moved the approximately one thousand and thirty dollars worth of merchandise to a
- 46:58vehicle before fleeing on foot after realizing someone was watching her. So she put
- 47:04it all on a vehicle and then ran on foot and then ran away from
- 47:07the car that she put her in. That's not doesn't make any sense.
- 47:10Jesus, they didn't say she was a smart thing. You forgot about my
- 47:14story about I've always told multiple times about my time that I stopped those shoplifters
- 47:19at Walmart and then the Walmar. So she took it, took credit for
- 47:23it, and got their photos in the newspaper the next day. Well this
- 47:28was Kara, said, They said. Kara noticed these people. Now I'm
- 47:30kidding now. Upon arrival, deputy said they found the vehicle, which still
- 47:36had the stolen items in the back seat. They then spotted a woman walking
- 47:39toward the store. Okay, this is so stupid. Yeah, it's so
- 47:44dumb. So this girl throws the stuff in a car, runs away from
- 47:51her car, and now she's walking back and she's just gonna casually go back
- 47:53to the car and forget that someone was shopling this weird experience. They just
- 48:00lady that left that would not show us a receipt has come back in to
- 48:05retree for her vehicle and all the stolen goods. Yes. So, after
- 48:07deputies made contact with the McCanns, she admitted that she had carried a loaded
- 48:13cart full of stolen island I can't even read stolen items to a car,
- 48:17claiming that it was just a random car she found that was open. But
- 48:22was it a Oh it's a Grand Highlander. That's the car, Grand Highlander.
- 48:25It's the big one with the third rosie. Are you not paying attention
- 48:28to my star? Are you looking on the internet looking at new car?
- 48:30Oh, it just hit me. She also claimed that she stuck her purse
- 48:36inside when she saw a law law enforcement arriving. So what this woman is
- 48:40saying and she just stuck random stolen, her stolen goods and her purse into
- 48:45her random car in the parking lot that was unlocked, Yes, conveniently.
- 48:51Conveniently okay, and it's still there when she came back. Because most people
- 48:54don't spend hours in a Walmart unless they're employed there or got problems. What
- 49:04kind of problems do where they just hang around on Walmart shopping? Okay,
- 49:07well that's a different type of person. I've seen those women do it at
- 49:10the targets. Target's a very different situation than a Walmart Stewart. I think
- 49:16they're about the same thing. No Target has a wonderful book section has a
- 49:21Starbucks in it, and apparently you can go get free refills at the Starbucks,
- 49:24and you can get coffees at the mccafes, and the Walmarts a McCafe
- 49:29steward, unless it's a French McCafe then no we we yes, Now those
- 49:35are nice. The ones in France are nice. See, that's what we
- 49:38spend money on. His trips. We forego having nice cars so we can
- 49:42go on trips. One of those one of those we just went on a
- 49:46cruise. People are gonna be like ago, it was not a year ago,
- 49:50it was seven or eight months ago. Anyway, According to investigators,
- 49:58McCann told them she was playing a game called twenty one, which involves a
- 50:00person grabbing as much merchandise as they can from a store and walking out without
- 50:06paying for it. Unless you're twenty one, you shouldn't be playing this.
- 50:08I mean, you shouldn't even be playing when you're twenty one. But it's
- 50:10more acceptable for a twenty one year old to do this than a thirty year
- 50:13old woman. Well, thirty is the new twenty one. I guess I
- 50:17can all the while trying not to get caught. So I'm only like twenty
- 50:22two then, right, yeah, something like that. Well I did it
- 50:25one other time and this time, but I got caught this time. I
- 50:29don't know what mccan is trying to say here, because that's word for word
- 50:32what she supposedly said. McCann can be heard saying in the body camera footage
- 50:37released by the Sheriff's office. So now I've got to figure out where my
- 50:40purse is and where my merchandise is, because now I've got to give all
- 50:45my merchandise back to Walmart. It's not your merchandise. No, you never
- 50:50paid for it. She's like, I played a game and I won,
- 50:52though it was a twenty one game. Well, it's not really a game,
- 50:53the deputy tells her, it's a game. McCann responds to you,
- 50:59states the dept. That's theft. It's it's fun at too, It's really
- 51:04fun. McCann replies, Oh, going to jail is fun. The deputy
- 51:08says, this woman, I swear. McCann was taken into custody, though
- 51:14she soon changed her story and said that the car hadn't been random, but
- 51:17in fact belonged to her boyfriend. My boyfriend doesn't know that I steal,
- 51:22and he doesn't know that I put all this shit in the car neither,
- 51:27McCann says, So I'm going to really be in trouble with him. But
- 51:30that's the thing. While removing the stolen merchandise from the car, deputy discovered
- 51:36a partially burnt marijuana cigarette inside the vehicles center console investigator said. In addition,
- 51:42they also found a digital scale hashish, a glass pipe with burned residue,
- 51:46and empty baggies of marijuana, meta amphetamine, and something called al prazolamb
- 51:55Inside of the la car, deputies found several one ounce silver bars and rounds,
- 52:02copper bars, and one grand platinum bar. What the hell, she's
- 52:06played twenty one at the pawnshop too. Ain't no telling what she got on.
- 52:10She was ultimately arrested and faces charges of grand theft, marijuana, possession,
- 52:15hash she's possession al fraz Alan has she hashes, possession of drug peffer
- 52:22and paraphernalia, and trafficking in meta amphetamine. She is being held on a
- 52:27bond of thirty four thousand dollars. If she really thought she was playing a
- 52:31shoplifting game, she lost to our deputies and observant citizen. Sheriff Ricky Staley
- 52:37said, yet again, they see something, say something, called it that
- 52:40blah blah blah. Anyway, well and Walmart, it's definitely in press charges
- 52:44they pressed. The Walmart makes money when they because they get restitution and then
- 52:49the purpse got to pay the restitution of the store. So she was a
- 52:52drug addict basically, that's playing games. I don't know if she was high
- 52:55when she was doing this, but she's definitely stupid. You don't know.
- 53:00You don't go shoplifting when you got drugs on you, in your car,
- 53:02none of that. If it's not an escape plan, especially if you're gonna
- 53:06go shoplifting, you just want to be popped for shoplifting if you get caught
- 53:09anyways, I will. As Dove mentioned, I've been watching a lot of
- 53:13lock Up. That's been my show the last couple of weeks, and I
- 53:15think of all the people that I feel sorry the most for, it's the
- 53:19people that are addicted to drugs that you that go in there, because they
- 53:22seem like such nice, normal people when they're in and they're off off the
- 53:27drugs, but they just can't kick the addiction. And it just is really
- 53:30sad because they just keep coming back in because they they just can't. They
- 53:35get clean in prison, and then they are in jail and then they are
- 53:37back out on the streets and they do it again and everything. But I
- 53:42mean, our children, they can all of it. I'd rather them come
- 53:45home with a teen pregnancy or or drop out of high school or something.
- 53:51As long as they don't come up with a drug addiction. It's like anything
- 53:53else you can overcome, you know, killers, yeah, yeah, or
- 53:58you probably like that. Then you can do podcast. I could be on
- 54:00a dateline episode, I could be on it Evil Lives here. There's a
- 54:04lot of options for me. I could write a book, be like I
- 54:07knew that one. We'll just make this whole podcast about it. Yep,
- 54:09when she walked in there with that knife and wanted to stab that rum,
- 54:13but I knew something. That little girl, That little girl's crazy. All
- 54:16right. Well that's our episode for this week, and anything else you'd like
- 54:20to add to. I think I've done enough. Okay, someone knocked on
- 54:22our door and ring our doorbell. Wellgo, they probably could hear it,
- 54:25so we'll see what's happening. There must be a package, No, Stewart,
- 54:30I don't want your package, all right, So I guess we will
- 54:34see you guys next time. By everyone, say bye, Stu. Tell't
- 54:37you know it's bad to be super stag shot midnapping? Else is working.
- 54:50It's sick this worry
