- 1:49Speaker 3: issues that's been going on with the Greenbrier and Governor Justice.
- 1:53Speaker 3: We're going to get an update on all of that
- 1:55Speaker 3: stuff this morning. And then Rob Reel from our sister
- 1:57Speaker 3: station KWS Superstar Country ninety one. He's going to be
- 2:01Speaker 3: over with us. He's the host of the morning show
- 2:04Speaker 3: up Real Early. Rob was in Morgantown last week for
- 2:06Speaker 3: our radiothon for w Medicine Children's and he's going to
- 2:10Speaker 3: be with us to talk about his experiences up there.
- 2:11Speaker 3: I think that our totals for that this weekend were
- 2:15Speaker 3: just under one hundred and eighty thousand dollars that we
- 2:17Speaker 3: raised for the hospital. We're going to get all the
- 2:19Speaker 3: details about that before we get it out of here
- 2:21Speaker 3: a little bit later on today. So thanks for tuning
- 2:23Speaker 3: into five eighty Live. I'm Dale Cooper. Fred Persinger is
- 2:25Speaker 3: up next and he's in studio with me this morning.
- 2:27Speaker 3: How you doing this morning, Fred.
- 2:28Speaker 4: I'm doing well. I'm doing well. That's the leak.
- 2:30Speaker 3: That's pretty much it. That's pretty much what's going on.
- 2:33Speaker 3: What's going to happen man high school football this time
- 2:36Speaker 3: of year. Last week, the weather was a little bit
- 2:39Speaker 3: more conducive to it. I think it gonna be hotter more,
- 2:41Speaker 3: a little bit more hot this week, it looks like.
- 2:42Speaker 3: But this is one of my favorite times of year
- 2:44Speaker 3: for West Virginia. The just from the time that I
- 2:48Speaker 3: was a kid, a bench rider for Capitol High Cougar's
- 2:51Speaker 3: and Roger Jefferson's teams. I'm still a big fan of
- 2:54Speaker 3: high school football in this state, and it's another seasons
- 2:56Speaker 3: right upon us here, a little bit different this year.
- 2:58Speaker 3: But first of all, before we get into that stuff,
- 3:01Speaker 3: we got a lot of great programming on Metro News
- 3:03Speaker 3: that folks are going to have to tune into.
- 3:05Speaker 4: Yeah, we do. In fact, if you're talking about high
- 3:07Speaker 4: school football, high School Sports Line get started again this
- 3:11Speaker 4: Wednesday night from seven oh six until nine o'clock. Myself,
- 3:15Speaker 4: along with Dave Jecklin and Joe Briccado, will be on
- 3:18Speaker 4: there for two hours and we get guests from around
- 3:21Speaker 4: the state. And one of the first guests we're gonna
- 3:23Speaker 4: have Wayne Ryan from the WVSSAC to talk about. He
- 3:27Speaker 4: is in charge of football as far as the SSAC
- 3:30Speaker 4: is concerned, so I thought it'd be good to get
- 3:31Speaker 4: Wayne on and we're gonna talk about I don't know.
- 3:35Speaker 4: I don't even have a word for it anymore. I
- 3:37Speaker 4: really don't. I think anyone that knows me. And I
- 3:40Speaker 4: did a high school football report this morning on the network,
- 3:43Speaker 4: and I said, if you know me. You know, I'm
- 3:45Speaker 4: not a fan of four classes in West Virginia. I'm
- 3:48Speaker 4: just not State's not large enough. I would have thought
- 3:50Speaker 4: we'd go to two classes. We've been better off, and
- 3:53Speaker 4: you're always gonna have somebody that complains if you're down
- 3:56Speaker 4: on the bottom. N I get it, I really get it.
- 3:58Speaker 4: But still you can't have four classes we have in
- 4:04Speaker 4: Class Quada now. And I knew this was going to
- 4:06Speaker 4: happen in football, I didn't think it's going to be
- 4:08Speaker 4: this bad. But in Class Quade we have sixteen teams
- 4:11Speaker 4: in Quad A football this year everyone makes the playoff.
- 4:15Speaker 4: You can be oh to ten and make the playoff. Now,
- 4:18Speaker 4: I don't know who wants to watch that first round
- 4:21Speaker 4: game if you're an to ten team. Now that and
- 4:24Speaker 4: ten team has played hard, they're just not there. They're
- 4:28Speaker 4: just not good enough to be there. And I'm not
- 4:30Speaker 4: under the opinion that they should be in the playoffs.
- 4:33Speaker 4: I'm just not. I don't think. And this world is
- 4:37Speaker 4: this crazy world everybody's supposed to get a trophy. I'm
- 4:40Speaker 4: not of that conclusion either. It's just it's just not
- 4:43Speaker 4: in me to think that way. So, but that's where
- 4:45Speaker 4: we are, and uh, high school football will be fun.
- 4:49Speaker 4: I said, high school Game Night, Dave and I Dave
- 4:52Speaker 4: Jacklin and myself twenty third year.
- 4:54Speaker 5: Unbelievable.
- 4:55Speaker 4: It's you. You've been around radio a long long time
- 5:00Speaker 4: if you have a program, whether it's on the local
- 5:02Speaker 4: side or the network side. And this show has been
- 5:05Speaker 4: going on for now. We've just completed twenty two years
- 5:08Speaker 4: last December, and you've had the same two guys host,
- 5:11Speaker 4: right right. That's the thing that amazes me. And then
- 5:14Speaker 4: those twenty three years or twenty two years completed. I've
- 5:17Speaker 4: missed one show and Dave has missed two shows. That's it.
- 5:22Speaker 4: I mean you think about that. We don't get sick.
- 5:25Speaker 4: I guess I don't know where. But we love what
- 5:28Speaker 4: we do and it's a lot of fun and get
- 5:30Speaker 4: to talk to a lot of people around the state,
- 5:32Speaker 4: a lot of play by play guys, a lot of coaches,
- 5:35Speaker 4: a lot of players are ZM Scholar Athlete of the
- 5:39Speaker 4: week each week academic wise and athletic wise. We choose
- 5:43Speaker 4: and it's just a lot of fun. And Game Night
- 5:45Speaker 4: starts this Friday night at nine thirty on forty seven
- 5:49Speaker 4: Radio stage.
- 5:50Speaker 3: It's incredible, and of course every Friday after CHS gets
- 5:53Speaker 3: done with its local coverage. By the way, local coverage
- 5:54Speaker 3: this year is going to be married with Hurricane Football.
- 5:56Speaker 3: So Hurricane Redskins are going to be the home on
- 5:59Speaker 3: five Big wehs will carry every one of their games
- 6:02Speaker 3: when Friday nights after their games will go straight to
- 6:03Speaker 3: game night like we always do.
- 6:05Speaker 5: And not to be too.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Big of a fan boy of our own product, but
- 6:08Speaker 3: I just have to kind of to put I've lived
- 6:10Speaker 3: a little bit around. I've lived in different states, been
- 6:12Speaker 3: a sports fan and every state that I've been in,
- 6:14Speaker 3: been a radio fan in every state I've been in,
- 6:16Speaker 3: because it's been in my blood for my whole life.
- 6:18Speaker 3: This product doesn't exist in other states. No, it doesn't exist.
- 6:21Speaker 6: Now.
- 6:21Speaker 3: I don't care how big they there their high school
- 6:23Speaker 3: football imprint is. It does not exist in other states.
- 6:25Speaker 3: This is a unique property to West Virginia. It's incredible.
- 6:28Speaker 4: Dave and I have always promised our listeners we will
- 6:30Speaker 4: have every score of every game played on Friday night
- 6:34Speaker 4: before we leave the air, and we've always done that.
- 6:36Speaker 4: Now we're fortunate we have. I've noted we have sixty
- 6:40Speaker 4: two games this weekend. Now getting scores for sixty two
- 6:45Speaker 4: games that's a lot of work, it is. And I
- 6:46Speaker 4: have a lot of young guys Joe Nelson from Morgantown
- 6:49Speaker 4: and some I guess freshman is sophomore at WVU. They
- 6:55Speaker 4: come and work for us. We feed them and give
- 6:58Speaker 4: them money. If you're a college freshmen, well that's music
- 7:02Speaker 4: to their ears, isn't it. But they work hard to
- 7:04Speaker 4: get our scores for us. But sixty two games and
- 7:06Speaker 4: kind of unusual this year. We got nine games on Thursday.
- 7:10Speaker 4: That is weird for that number. We always get that
- 7:13Speaker 4: three four, but we got nine, including our game that's
- 7:17Speaker 4: going to be on Metro News television on Thursday night
- 7:20Speaker 4: between Independence and Herbert Hoover. That's two. That's two classes
- 7:24Speaker 4: or two football teams. Hoover's and Triple A and Independence
- 7:27Speaker 4: and Single A are double A now, so they're going
- 7:30Speaker 4: to get together and that's always going to be a
- 7:32Speaker 4: great football game. So looking forward to that.
- 7:34Speaker 5: From that beautiful new field out in l FU. That's
- 7:37Speaker 5: going to be amazing.
- 7:38Speaker 4: That's going to be one hundred and forty seven degrees.
- 7:42Speaker 4: It's gonna be warm. It's gonna be warm. But that's okay. Uh,
- 7:44Speaker 4: you know, I'm sure a lot of water breaks and
- 7:46Speaker 4: all of that good kind of stuff. And those guys
- 7:48Speaker 4: have been certainly going through it this summer in August
- 7:51Speaker 4: where they had the two days and whatever they've been
- 7:53Speaker 4: going through. But looking forward to it, I think it
- 7:56Speaker 4: would be a great game. But again, nine games this
- 7:59Speaker 4: Thursday in a total of sixty two this weekend, and
- 8:04Speaker 4: some great games. There's no doubts there gonna be some
- 8:06Speaker 4: great games.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Do you think the Triple A division now becomes sort
- 8:08Speaker 3: of the most interesting division.
- 8:10Speaker 5: In some ways?
- 8:11Speaker 3: What thirty one teams vying for sixteen spots. A lot
- 8:14Speaker 3: of those teams were considered Capital and teams like that.
- 8:17Speaker 3: We once were part of the bigger division in the school.
- 8:20Speaker 3: It's kind of an odd uh. You're seeing some of
- 8:22Speaker 3: the teams that's in Triple A now, it's kind of
- 8:23Speaker 3: odd when you look at it.
- 8:24Speaker 4: It is, indeed, and you mentioned Capital. How about Spring Valley?
- 8:27Speaker 5: Right?
- 8:27Speaker 4: Spring Valley is a team kidding me, they've always held
- 8:32Speaker 4: their own in the big school vision and now they're
- 8:34Speaker 4: in Triple A, which is kind of double A, right,
- 8:39Speaker 4: you know? But I don't know. I think the way
- 8:40Speaker 4: it breaks down this year and it shows you that
- 8:43Speaker 4: we don't have enough teams in Class Quada because this
- 8:46Speaker 4: weekend there's nineteen games in Class Single A, nineteen in
- 8:50Speaker 4: Class Double A, fifteen in Class Triple A and nine
- 8:55Speaker 4: in Quad A. Wow, that's it, just nine games. And
- 8:59Speaker 4: I get there's a couple of teams that are not
- 9:01Speaker 4: playing this weekend the University in Cabal, Midland. But still
- 9:07Speaker 4: I don't know. It's not going to change. I talked
- 9:09Speaker 4: with David. I talk with David Price a lot now,
- 9:12Speaker 4: in fact, we were texting last night. And first and foremost,
- 9:16Speaker 4: let me say this because I've seen a lot of
- 9:17Speaker 4: social media stuff and all of this stuff going on,
- 9:20Speaker 4: whether it's the reclassification or whether it's what happened with
- 9:23Speaker 4: these twenty two teams that decided they didn't want to
- 9:27Speaker 4: be where they are and they filed an appeal and
- 9:29Speaker 4: that got approved, and all that has nothing to do
- 9:33Speaker 4: with the SSAC. The SSAC is four people, and they
- 9:38Speaker 4: are great people. I know all of them rather well.
- 9:41Speaker 4: They are just tasked with enforcing the rules that are
- 9:44Speaker 4: given to them by the Board of Directors, and the
- 9:47Speaker 4: Board of Directors are the principles. That's who decides all
- 9:50Speaker 4: this stuff. That's who decides reclassification as far as who
- 9:55Speaker 4: decided to drop those twenty two teams down. That's the
- 9:58Speaker 4: board of review, and that is that's men and women
- 10:03Speaker 4: that are not even involved in the school system. But
- 10:04Speaker 4: I got a couple maybe back up. They do have
- 10:07Speaker 4: a couple that's involved, retired athletic directors, retired folks from
- 10:10Speaker 4: the States Superintendent's office. But there's a doctor and I
- 10:14Speaker 4: know the doctor extremely well, very very nice gentlemen. Uh,
- 10:18Speaker 4: there's a couple of there's a lawyer. They're they're professional people.
- 10:22Speaker 4: And I don't know, I don't know why they decided
- 10:26Speaker 4: to let it drop down. In talking with the doctor,
- 10:29Speaker 4: he said they felt like they had to. But to me,
- 10:33Speaker 4: if they're going to say it's all about the safety
- 10:35Speaker 4: of the youngster, okay, And and this comes at the
- 10:39Speaker 4: time when men, the young man from Madison Middle School
- 10:44Speaker 4: passed away because of a hard hit in practice, and
- 10:48Speaker 4: you hate that, you hate that. You've got to have
- 10:50Speaker 4: football safety. But I'm curious that team that maybe zero
- 10:54Speaker 4: to ten in the playoffs is going to play a
- 10:57Speaker 4: team that could easily be undefeated. Where's the football safety
- 11:01Speaker 4: gonna come in there?
- 11:02Speaker 3: Yeah, a team that has dedicated weight rooms and one
- 11:06Speaker 3: hundred players to choose from, and you can sub out
- 11:09Speaker 3: players and everybody's not playing two ways or whatever.
- 11:12Speaker 4: Right, exactly right, And I think that can be an issue.
- 11:15Speaker 4: But this is only good. This is only going to
- 11:18Speaker 4: happen for this year.
- 11:19Speaker 5: Now.
- 11:19Speaker 4: I think they're back to the drawing board. I think
- 11:21Speaker 4: there's going to be more reclassification and then somebody's not
- 11:23Speaker 4: going to like it, and somebody's going to go to
- 11:26Speaker 4: the Board of Review and it's on and on.
- 11:28Speaker 3: Situation talking up, I want to talk locally just a moment.
- 11:31Speaker 3: I'll cut you loose after this. But I'm fascinated with
- 11:34Speaker 3: with coach Carpenter.
- 11:35Speaker 5: Coming back to Capitol.
- 11:36Speaker 4: How about that?
- 11:36Speaker 3: I think that, of course Cart's been around forever. He's
- 11:39Speaker 3: been a character around in the Canall Valley and in
- 11:42Speaker 3: high school football forever. He had a show that he
- 11:45Speaker 3: did with Carl Lee last year where he was pretty
- 11:48Speaker 3: raw in some of the issues that he had with
- 11:51Speaker 3: Capital and he was an advocate for his players and
- 11:53Speaker 3: his kids. I don't think there was there was any
- 11:55Speaker 3: question about that. With with coach karp coming back into
- 11:57Speaker 3: this environment though, I mean just a few years that
- 12:00Speaker 3: he's been away, it's a completely different landscape. Now that
- 12:03Speaker 3: he's coming.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Back to Yeah, carp thought it was bad four years ago. Hey,
- 12:07Speaker 4: welcome man. Now you're right about you. And you mentioned
- 12:10Speaker 4: Roger Jefferson. That's one of the greatest coaches of all time,
- 12:14Speaker 4: no doubt. And uh, well that's when Capital they had
- 12:17Speaker 4: it going on.
- 12:18Speaker 5: They really did.
- 12:19Speaker 4: But uh, getting back to John Carpenter and everybody knows
- 12:22Speaker 4: him as carp Uh, he would run through a wall
- 12:25Speaker 4: for his players, he really would, and his players would
- 12:29Speaker 4: in reverse run through that same wall for him. So uh,
- 12:32Speaker 4: I think it's great for Capital. I just don't, like
- 12:35Speaker 4: you said, carp is going to step into something that
- 12:38Speaker 4: he thought was bad before. Oh my goodness. But and
- 12:41Speaker 4: they're one of those teams that was Quada. Now they're
- 12:43Speaker 4: Triple A. And uh, you know they struggled as late.
- 12:46Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I mean you well we saw scores last
- 12:49Speaker 4: year Capital. You just shake your head. That's not the Capitol.
- 12:51Speaker 5: Googles of what you were used to do with Capital.
- 12:54Speaker 4: I thought I was gonna have to give what he
- 12:56Speaker 4: would's resuscitation a couple of times. You know, he's huge
- 13:00Speaker 4: Capital fan. But yeah, I just hope things get better.
- 13:04Speaker 4: I hope that once football starts Thursday night. All this
- 13:07Speaker 4: other stuff is behind its no one's thinking about it.
- 13:10Speaker 4: Let's just think about football. Let's move forward, get to
- 13:13Speaker 4: the place and by the way, playoffs again, the championships
- 13:15Speaker 4: in Charleston. Now I'm moving from Wheeling after thirty years.
- 13:19Speaker 4: Oh wow, that's a long time.
- 13:20Speaker 5: To make us busy down here.
- 13:21Speaker 4: It will, definitely, And the fact is quite simple enough.
- 13:24Speaker 4: And I've talked with Tim Brady, who is running the
- 13:29Speaker 4: show for the most part with this, and he knows
- 13:32Speaker 4: they've got a huge, huge bar to climb over because
- 13:36Speaker 4: Wheeling set that bar so high. They did it right.
- 13:39Speaker 4: I was very fortunate every year that we were there
- 13:42Speaker 4: all thirty years. I was a part of the broadcast team,
- 13:45Speaker 4: and I saw it just continually get better and better
- 13:48Speaker 4: and better and better. And they know here in Charleston
- 13:51Speaker 4: that they can't do what they did before.
- 13:53Speaker 5: Yeah, they just can't.
- 13:55Speaker 4: I was part of the broadcast team when it was
- 13:58Speaker 4: in Charleston, and I honestly went on a Saturday morning
- 14:01Speaker 4: because I had the noon game to broadcast, and I
- 14:05Speaker 4: got to the stadium at nine thirty. The gates were locked.
- 14:09Speaker 4: So what yeah, I mean, come, you can't do that.
- 14:12Speaker 4: So they know it's different people, totally different, and I
- 14:15Speaker 4: think they're going to do a great job. I really
- 14:16Speaker 4: do because I know the guys involved, Mike Harbagast and
- 14:21Speaker 4: mister Varney who's now heading up Lakeleyfield or the University
- 14:25Speaker 4: of Charleston Stadium, and they're doing a lot of work
- 14:28Speaker 4: at the University of Charleston Stadium. They've done a lot
- 14:31Speaker 4: of work in the locker rooms, They've done a lot
- 14:32Speaker 4: of work on the press box area. So good for them.
- 14:34Speaker 4: I think they know what they have to do and
- 14:36Speaker 4: I think they'll deliver. I really do, and I hope
- 14:38Speaker 4: they do because having the football in the capital city
- 14:41Speaker 4: it's just good. Yeah, it was real good. So but
- 14:44Speaker 4: you know, we start Thursday night. We'll see what happens.
- 14:47Speaker 5: Can't wait.
- 14:48Speaker 3: Of course, Game Night is high School Sports Line will
- 14:50Speaker 3: debut this Wednesday night. That'll be at seven o'clock right
- 14:52Speaker 3: here on five ADWCHS. Game Light will be Friday night
- 14:56Speaker 3: after Hurricane and Hurricane plays Huntington. That's right, big game,
- 15:01Speaker 3: Honeyton and Hurricane at Hurricanes. So Hurricane that has a
- 15:03Speaker 3: home game, I guess Huntington this weekend. Of course, we're
- 15:05Speaker 3: going to have all the Hurricans game right here on
- 15:07Speaker 3: five ed WCHSD. You'll be able to hear that this weekend,
- 15:09Speaker 3: followed by Fred and Game Night after that as well.
- 15:11Speaker 4: What old guys doing the Playboy play for you?
- 15:13Speaker 3: We're going to have one for Hurricane. It's going to
- 15:15Speaker 3: be Chris Lawrence, Yeah, and Aaron Parker from the newsroom.
- 15:18Speaker 5: So we're going to be doing the good. Yeah. It's
- 15:20Speaker 5: gonna be a great team.
- 15:21Speaker 3: It's going to be a fun time and we're looking
- 15:23Speaker 3: forward to doing getting those things racked up and ready
- 15:26Speaker 3: to go before I cut you lose West Virginia Penn State.
- 15:29Speaker 3: You're part of the ten hours coverage that we're going
- 15:31Speaker 3: to have on Saturday starting at eight o'clock right here
- 15:33Speaker 3: on WHS. A lot of WU fans are like, hey,
- 15:36Speaker 3: maybe we got a shot at this. The line official
- 15:38Speaker 3: line came out over the weekend. It's a single digit line.
- 15:41Speaker 3: How do you feel about the Mountaineers going hosting the
- 15:44Speaker 3: Nitney Lines.
- 15:45Speaker 4: I think, honestly, I don't think it's going to be
- 15:49Speaker 4: a runaway game like a lot of people think. I
- 15:50Speaker 4: really don't. I think the Mountaineers have a shot. It's
- 15:54Speaker 4: tough to play at mylein Pushcar Stadium. That really is all.
- 15:58Speaker 4: The weather's going to be good, and Garrett Green has
- 16:01Speaker 4: proven that he can play with the big boys. I
- 16:04Speaker 4: was reading something in Sports Illustrated yesterday in fact, and
- 16:09Speaker 4: Penn State is ranked number eight and West Virginia, according
- 16:13Speaker 4: to Sports Illustrated, is ranked number twenty five. So they're ranked,
- 16:17Speaker 4: they're supposed to be good. I think Neil Brown has
- 16:20Speaker 4: that it's got that program running in the right direction.
- 16:25Speaker 4: Come on, well, we've got to be honest you you've
- 16:27Speaker 4: got to think that Penn State's going to win. But
- 16:29Speaker 4: could West Virginia pull the upset? Absolutely?
- 16:32Speaker 3: And again we don't. You don't want to do moral victories,
- 16:35Speaker 3: but there is something to be said about the quality
- 16:37Speaker 3: of play. So if you see a team that's playing
- 16:39Speaker 3: very well and just loses to a better team, because
- 16:41Speaker 3: let's face it, I mean Penn State has been, you know,
- 16:44Speaker 3: a perennial top fifteen team anyway for the last several years,
- 16:47Speaker 3: I think that's a good step. And then you go
- 16:48Speaker 3: and blow the doors off pitt and then you get.
- 16:50Speaker 4: The thing going right, You got allbody in the between
- 16:52Speaker 4: right exactly, and that home at six o'clock and this
- 16:55Speaker 4: by the way his noon game for Penn State. That
- 16:57Speaker 4: should be a night game, right, it's not, thank you, Fox.
- 17:01Speaker 4: And then you go to Pitt so West Virginia rightfully,
- 17:05Speaker 4: so could be two and one, one and two.
- 17:11Speaker 5: Right, that's the big picking what you.
- 17:12Speaker 4: Want, So we'll see what all. But he's going to
- 17:14Speaker 4: be a win, we know that. But going to Pitt
- 17:18Speaker 4: that's not easy either.
- 17:19Speaker 5: No, that shouldn't be. But we got to win that game.
- 17:21Speaker 5: They will. Fred, I appreciate your time. Thanks man. I
- 17:23Speaker 5: appreciate you a lot of time on a Monday morning.
- 17:25Speaker 3: That's Fred Persinger giving us his wisdom today when various
- 17:29Speaker 3: high school and college football appreciate that. We'll catch Fred

- 21:48Speaker 3: or a guest host with me. Aaron Donaldson from the
- 21:50Speaker 3: Herdtael Show. He is actually going to be our special
- 21:53Speaker 3: co host on Tuesday and Wednesday of this program. So
- 21:55Speaker 3: it's going to be jampackshow full of West Virginia news
- 21:58Speaker 3: and stories that brought to you from Andrew Donaldson. And
- 22:02Speaker 3: he's going to be guest hosting for us on Tuesday
- 22:05Speaker 3: and Wednesday of this week. I amppurciate to check in
- 22:07Speaker 3: on that. I always get a positive response when Andrew
- 22:09Speaker 3: comes on the show to either co host with me
- 22:13Speaker 3: or to just be a guest on the program. Andrew
- 22:16Speaker 3: makes media hits all over the place. He's on Fox
- 22:19Speaker 3: News a lot, He's been on News Mix, Young Turk's, MSNBC,
- 22:23Speaker 3: He's been on all the programs as a commentator. He
- 22:25Speaker 3: has several different shows that are out there. He does
- 22:26Speaker 3: a pretty good job. He does a real good job.
- 22:28Speaker 3: And he's from West Virginia, a huge advocate of the
- 22:31Speaker 3: Mountain state. And so he's going to be our special
- 22:33Speaker 3: guest host filling in for Dave Allen on Tuesday and
- 22:36Speaker 3: Wednesday of this week, or I'm sorry, on Wednesday and
- 22:39Speaker 3: Thursday of this week. So I encourage you to check
- 22:40Speaker 3: into that. That should be a pretty good time. Brian
- 22:43Speaker 3: mclahaney will be coming up here in just a few moments.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Waiting for Brad. We're going to get an update on
- 22:47Speaker 3: all of the various stories that's been breaking across the state.
- 22:49Speaker 3: We had stories, updates to stories and breaking news in
- 22:53Speaker 3: relation to the various issues surrounding the governor, Governor Justice
- 22:57Speaker 3: and his finances, a lot of news. It was late
- 23:00Speaker 3: on Friday and over the weekend. We're going to get
- 23:02Speaker 3: caught up to date on that of various things that
- 23:04Speaker 3: had to do with the sale that has now been
- 23:07Speaker 3: that has now been forestalled. It looks like that things
- 23:09Speaker 3: are going to work out there, but we have issues
- 23:12Speaker 3: with health insurance and with payroll and stuff like that.
- 23:15Speaker 3: So we're going to find out more about that from
- 23:17Speaker 3: by mclhaney, with an update as we get on a
- 23:19Speaker 3: little bit later on. You know, Fred Persinger was in
- 23:23Speaker 3: here for our first segment and we were talking a
- 23:26Speaker 3: lot about our high school football coverage, and I just
- 23:28Speaker 3: wanted to reiterate that for just a moment. Things are
- 23:31Speaker 3: going to be a little bit different on our network
- 23:33Speaker 3: of stations this year, so you want to keep an
- 23:35Speaker 3: ear out for this on what we're going to have available,
- 23:37Speaker 3: Like I mentioned to Fred. We are going to be
- 23:39Speaker 3: and you've probably heard the promotions on the station, We're
- 23:41Speaker 3: going to be following one particular team this year for
- 23:44Speaker 3: w CCHS. We're going to be following Hurricane High School
- 23:48Speaker 3: and all of their football games. We're going to carry
- 23:49Speaker 3: all of Hurricanes football games right here on five eight
- 23:52Speaker 3: w CCHS online at WCHS network dot com and you'll
- 23:55Speaker 3: be able to find the games and podcasts after the
- 23:58Speaker 3: games on that as well, so WCHS network dot com.
- 24:02Speaker 3: So Chris Lawrence and Aaron Parker is going to be
- 24:03Speaker 3: taking care of the duties on those games, and that's
- 24:05Speaker 3: going to be every Friday night we'll be doing. It's
- 24:07Speaker 3: the same thing that we always do, except this is
- 24:09Speaker 3: going to be with just one team this year. We're
- 24:11Speaker 3: going to be carrying Hurricane High School football every week
- 24:15Speaker 3: on Friday nights or whenever they play this year on
- 24:17Speaker 3: fave EDWCHS. We do have a second game that we're
- 24:20Speaker 3: going to be doing this year as well, a little
- 24:22Speaker 3: bit different, not on WCCHS, but one on our sister station. Actually,
- 24:24Speaker 3: Rob Real will be over here in just a little
- 24:26Speaker 3: while from Superstars Country ninety six to one KWS, and
- 24:29Speaker 3: that station is going to be the home of the
- 24:31Speaker 3: Herbert Hoover Huskies this season, So all of the Herbert
- 24:35Speaker 3: Hoover games are going to be on ninety six to
- 24:37Speaker 3: one KWS, and again every Friday night, they will have
- 24:40Speaker 3: those games on their Playboy play is going to be
- 24:42Speaker 3: provided by Tom Bragg and Matt Murphy. We'll be doing
- 24:46Speaker 3: the Playboy play for the games over on ninety six
- 24:48Speaker 3: one for Herbert Hoover. So two of our great community schools,
- 24:51Speaker 3: the Hurricane High School and Herbert Hoover, they're going to
- 24:54Speaker 3: be carried by our family of stations here right here
- 24:56Speaker 3: in Charleston for every single game on WCHS. Of course,
- 24:59Speaker 3: after the games on Friday nights, we'll go over to
- 25:01Speaker 3: Game Night and you'll ability to hear all of that
- 25:03Speaker 3: great program that we were just talking about with Fred
- 25:06Speaker 3: on keeping us up to date on all the scores
- 25:07Speaker 3: around the state of West Virginia on Friday nights. And
- 25:10Speaker 3: then of course high School sports Line is on Wednesday
- 25:13Speaker 3: night at seven o'clock after the state wide sports line
- 25:15Speaker 3: right here on five eight WCHS Reds Baseball when we
- 25:19Speaker 3: go to the Wednesday night games, as long as it's
- 25:21Speaker 3: a later game this week. It's a six forty start,
- 25:24Speaker 3: so we'll probably actually carry that game on Wednesday on
- 25:26Speaker 3: our sister station on ESPN one of six point seven
- 25:29Speaker 3: and fourteen ninety since it's a start that's probably going
- 25:32Speaker 3: to end before by nine thirty or so. In our
- 25:35Speaker 3: coverage of high school sports, line will be over at eight.
- 25:38Speaker 3: That doesn't give a lot of time for the red
- 25:39Speaker 3: So we'll probably carry that Reds game over on our
- 25:42Speaker 3: sister station one six point seven fourteen to ninety WSWW
- 25:46Speaker 3: on Wednesday. As far as the Reds this week goes,
- 25:48Speaker 3: the Reds are off to night at disappointing weekend this
- 25:50Speaker 3: weekend against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Reds were probably about
- 25:54Speaker 3: four pitches away from going three to one in that series,
- 25:57Speaker 3: with the only lost being the skeens pitch game of
- 25:59Speaker 3: the first game of the series. Unfortunately, one bad inning,
- 26:03Speaker 3: another bad pitch, and another bad pitch, and the Reds
- 26:06Speaker 3: one in three against the Pirates. And if the season
- 26:10Speaker 3: wasn't done before this series, the season is certainly done
- 26:12Speaker 3: as far as playoffs go for the Reds. However, September
- 26:15Speaker 3: is right around the corner, and that means that The
- 26:17Speaker 3: Reds have a lot of young talent that's in the
- 26:20Speaker 3: farm system, Sam Collier, who we had come through here,
- 26:23Speaker 3: as well as some pitchers, and it looks like that
- 26:25Speaker 3: we're going to see some September calls call ups for
- 26:27Speaker 3: the Reds, So a lot of young, great talent will
- 26:30Speaker 3: be able to hear for the last couple of weeks
- 26:32Speaker 3: of the season and still an outside shot at the
- 26:34Speaker 3: wild colored spot if the team can catch fire, but
- 26:38Speaker 3: it has to be some pretty major fire at this
- 26:40Speaker 3: point in order for that to be something that the
- 26:42Speaker 3: Reds have any potential for. The Reds are back in
- 26:44Speaker 3: action tomorrow night, starting at seven o'clock. We will join
- 26:47Speaker 3: the game in progress right here on five ADWCCHS against
- 26:50Speaker 3: the Oakland Athletics and they play the Athletics in a
- 26:53Speaker 3: three game series culminating on Thursday with an odd five
- 26:57Speaker 3: to ten start. That game also is going to be
- 26:59Speaker 3: on our sister station one of six point seven and
- 27:01Speaker 3: fourteen ninety WSWW. Let's go ahead and do this. We're
- 27:05Speaker 3: going to take a break now, get our second breakout
- 27:07Speaker 3: of the way. When we come back, Brad mclahaney will
- 27:09Speaker 3: be with us and we'll be talking about all of
- 27:12Speaker 3: the breaking news over the weekend, catching us up with
- 27:14Speaker 3: the various stories with the Governor, the fave DWCHS and Favedy.

- 30:20Speaker 3: four five fifty eight fifty eight. Three zero four, three
- 30:21Speaker 3: four five fifty eight fifty eight. Brad does join me
- 30:24Speaker 3: now from who knows what bunker location that Brad has
- 30:27Speaker 3: to tie himself down into these days. But Brad Backwhaaney
- 30:29Speaker 3: for Metro News joins me. Now, Brad, good morning. How
- 30:31Speaker 3: you doing this morning?
- 30:32Speaker 13: Oh, hi, good morning. It's an honor to be on
- 30:35Speaker 13: the Dale Cooper show. Well, thank you, And you know
- 30:38Speaker 13: I'm right at this moment, it's all relative and I'm
- 30:43Speaker 13: just pleased anyone's inviting me anywhere, perferably without any name
- 30:47Speaker 13: calling and being polite about my questions. So thanks so much.
- 30:52Speaker 3: You're welcome to You're welcome to ask me any question
- 30:54Speaker 3: that you want. By the way, Brad, thank you.
- 30:57Speaker 13: I don't know that I have any at this time, okay,
- 31:00Speaker 13: fit like what's for lunch or whatever? All good, all's
- 31:05Speaker 13: good in the neighborhood, as they say.
- 31:06Speaker 3: Well, that's good, it's good that we're getting there. Of
- 31:09Speaker 3: course we're talking a little bit about we don't have
- 31:11Speaker 3: to rehash the whole thing but of course we're going
- 31:13Speaker 3: to be updating when there's various prongs to the stories
- 31:17Speaker 3: with the governor and the governor's series of family of
- 31:20Speaker 3: business finances, with news that's been breaking over the last
- 31:24Speaker 3: couple of weeks. The Governor's been a little bit reluctant
- 31:26Speaker 3: to answer some of the questions surrounding those, especially from Brad,
- 31:31Speaker 3: because I think Brad maybe sussed out some of the
- 31:33Speaker 3: beginnings of the story at its infancy. But neither here
- 31:37Speaker 3: nor there. One thing that I did notice, Brad over
- 31:39Speaker 3: the weekend you were updating these stories, had some updates
- 31:42Speaker 3: late on Friday and into the weekend as far as
- 31:45Speaker 3: the health care for the employees that are there, and
- 31:47Speaker 3: also that there was some sort of an agreement made
- 31:49Speaker 3: as far as the cell of the property that was
- 31:52Speaker 3: going to take place later this week.
- 31:54Speaker 13: Yeah, so as we entered this week, there was going
- 31:57Speaker 13: to be a foreclosure sale two pm tomorrow. It was
- 32:01Speaker 13: going to be on the courthouse steps in Greenboro County.
- 32:04Speaker 13: If you could have pieced together the money, you could
- 32:06Speaker 13: have put a bit on the actual Greenbrier Hotel building
- 32:10Speaker 13: as well as some of the parking lot. But that
- 32:14Speaker 13: has now. The coast is clear for the time being,
- 32:17Speaker 13: at least on that one. Mostly what we know comes
- 32:20Speaker 13: from the Justice family itself and some of the Governor's remarks,
- 32:25Speaker 13: but there are a lot of questions still remaining. At
- 32:29Speaker 13: least until October twenty fourth. The pressure is off that
- 32:33Speaker 13: that was the date that the Justice has specified. They
- 32:37Speaker 13: say that they have gotten together a specific amount of money,
- 32:43Speaker 13: I guess. And when they say specific, then they don't
- 32:48Speaker 13: say what the specific amount is, but it is specific,
- 32:52Speaker 13: And so they say that they are there. They have
- 32:55Speaker 13: already or are in the act of satisfying the terms
- 32:59Speaker 13: of the credit collection company. But if they don't manage
- 33:03Speaker 13: to do so actually by October twenty fourth, then you know,
- 33:07Speaker 13: potentially the situation could arise again. But you know, for now,
- 33:11Speaker 13: I think giving the benefit of the doubt, and the
- 33:15Speaker 13: Justices say that the pressure is off. The foreclosure sale
- 33:19Speaker 13: has been canceled. But there are other elements of pressure
- 33:22Speaker 13: that continue. One is that there is this dispute with
- 33:28Speaker 13: the unions and the Healthcare Fund representing workers. The Justices,
- 33:35Speaker 13: according to the people who run the Healthcare Fund, are
- 33:40Speaker 13: overall about three point six million dollars overdue on health
- 33:46Speaker 13: coverage payments, and I mean this aspect is learning that
- 33:52Speaker 13: end of things. The insurance company that it says that
- 33:57Speaker 13: the lawyers to the insurance company say that the justices
- 34:02Speaker 13: collected payments from employees meant to be the employees share
- 34:09Speaker 13: and then didn't pass that on. At this point, as
- 34:14Speaker 13: of first Friday afternoon and then Friday evening, there are
- 34:19Speaker 13: very conflicting accounts of what is happening. The lawyers representing actually, sorry,
- 34:28Speaker 13: the unions representing about four hundred workers at the green Brier.
- 34:33Speaker 13: This is the Greenbrier Council of Labor Unions say that
- 34:37Speaker 13: the delinquencies this is from their Friday afternet statement are
- 34:40Speaker 13: quote factual, tangible, and documented, and they say we continue
- 34:46Speaker 13: to domain that the Greenbrier's delinquent contractual obligations be met
- 34:51Speaker 13: and remain hopeful that an agreement will be reached between
- 34:54Speaker 13: the Health Fund and the Greenbrier. There was going to
- 34:59Speaker 13: be a due date of tomorrow for that health insurance
- 35:01Speaker 13: coverage that was tied to the possibility that there could
- 35:05Speaker 13: be a foreclosure sale. That's why it was tomorrow. In
- 35:09Speaker 13: addition to the fact that it's considered delinquent. Once the
- 35:14Speaker 13: foreclosure sale was off, the company representing the company with
- 35:20Speaker 13: health insurance on Friday said well, we're going to give
- 35:23Speaker 13: you a little more time. It's going to be until
- 35:25Speaker 13: August thirty first. Now, well August thirty first is Saturday,
- 35:28Speaker 13: so that is a little more time to square this up,
- 35:31Speaker 13: but not a lot more. The justices on Friday evening,
- 35:37Speaker 13: and to take a peek behind the scenes, I had
- 35:40Speaker 13: gone out to dinner, a well deserved dinner out with
- 35:42Speaker 13: my wife when I made the mistake of checking my
- 35:45Speaker 13: email and seeing that this was in it. The Justice
- 35:49Speaker 13: has made the statement that seems to be exactly the
- 35:53Speaker 13: opposite of that. The Greenbrier said, quote, without any exception,
- 35:58Speaker 13: every penny of money collected from our nearly two thousand employees,
- 36:03Speaker 13: So the green Briar has union and non union employees.
- 36:05Speaker 13: That's a discrepancy. There four hundred under your union coverage
- 36:10Speaker 13: and then the others are non union. But every penny
- 36:13Speaker 13: collected from our nearly two thousand employees for healthcare coverage
- 36:16Speaker 13: has been timely paid to either the union healthcare fund
- 36:19Speaker 13: or the non union healthcare provider. And then the green
- 36:24Speaker 13: Brier went on to say, to demonstrate the payments of
- 36:26Speaker 13: our employees with holdings from Healthcare. We have provided this
- 36:29Speaker 13: information to the Union Healthcare Fund. Today. It continued that
- 36:35Speaker 13: statement from the green Bar by saying, the green Bar's
- 36:37Speaker 13: management and accounting staff monitor and make payments for the
- 36:40Speaker 13: healthcare Governor Justice has never been consulted, nor has he
- 36:44Speaker 13: directed any of those payments since twenty seventeen. So as
- 36:49Speaker 13: we you know, bottom line, as we come toward now
- 36:52Speaker 13: the August thirty first deadline to assure coverage under the
- 36:58Speaker 13: payments that the union says are overdue. I mean, we've
- 37:01Speaker 13: just got these two positions, but I am not sure
- 37:05Speaker 13: how you can square them. I mean, they are just
- 37:08Speaker 13: diametrically opposite, with the Greenberg saying no, we're good and
- 37:12Speaker 13: the unions saying not good, three point six million dollars overdue.
- 37:18Speaker 13: Where it goes, I.
- 37:19Speaker 3: Don't know, And we're not even sure how this is possible,
- 37:21Speaker 3: Like you said there, how could you possibly square this
- 37:24Speaker 3: kind of discrepancy. But obviously somebody is either just massively
- 37:29Speaker 3: has the wrong document set in front of them and
- 37:32Speaker 3: they're getting it wrong, or somebody's massively lying. I mean,
- 37:35Speaker 3: it seems like it has to be one of those
- 37:36Speaker 3: two things.
- 37:38Speaker 13: M Yeah, I mean, I don't know how maybe Lucy
- 37:41Speaker 13: Goosey to use the technical term the payments had been
- 37:44Speaker 13: in the past. There is an element here that I
- 37:50Speaker 13: read into it that has never been publicly stated to
- 37:55Speaker 13: my knowledge. But there truly are significant financial pressures on
- 38:00Speaker 13: the Justices overall, and one of them was this potential
- 38:05Speaker 13: foreclosure sale. There could be an incentive from those who
- 38:11Speaker 13: are owed money by the Justices to get it out there,
- 38:16Speaker 13: to to not only make it public, but to to
- 38:21Speaker 13: put it in formal terms. And what I'm getting at is,
- 38:25Speaker 13: if this were potentially to go to bankruptcy, then you know,
- 38:30Speaker 13: you want the grounds to be able to get in
- 38:33Speaker 13: line before the judge or the trustee or whoever, to
- 38:37Speaker 13: say this is this is.
- 38:38Speaker 5: What we are owed.
- 38:39Speaker 13: We've we've got to here in writing, we have made
- 38:42Speaker 13: a claim and here is where we belong in line. Again,
- 38:49Speaker 13: that is that is me reading into it, But I
- 38:53Speaker 13: I it has never been stated as publicly is the
- 38:57Speaker 13: reason that this is happening right now regarding the union
- 39:01Speaker 13: healthcare I mean even beyond that though, bottom line, the
- 39:06Speaker 13: union and the company that provides the insurance are in
- 39:10Speaker 13: agreement that the Justices oh coming up on three point
- 39:14Speaker 13: six million dollars.
- 39:15Speaker 5: Do we know where this is likely to go?
- 39:18Speaker 3: Do we have any like timelines for this week on
- 39:21Speaker 3: any information that we're expecting, or is it just we
- 39:24Speaker 3: have to kind of hold on and see what comes out.
- 39:28Speaker 13: Well, I mean, it was it was going to be
- 39:31Speaker 13: a real crisis point. I think as of tomorrow if
- 39:34Speaker 13: that had been the day that the insurance was gonna
- 39:39Speaker 13: not be valid and good anymore. Now that day is Saturday.
- 39:44Speaker 13: There is a major event late this week the Greenbrier,
- 39:48Speaker 13: the Chamber of Commerce is annual. This is summer at
- 39:51Speaker 13: the green Boro. That's Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. And you know,
- 39:56Speaker 13: I really haven't heard from any Greenbrier employees. Who knows
- 39:59Speaker 13: what kind of mood they may be in as this
- 40:03Speaker 13: matter potentially persists, and then next week, who knows what happens.
- 40:09Speaker 13: The only thing that's in the public record, actual statements
- 40:13Speaker 13: that have gone out, is the union has said it
- 40:16Speaker 13: will explore any possible legal action necessary, which I take
- 40:22Speaker 13: to you know, maybe mean a lawsuit of some sort.
- 40:26Speaker 13: Beyond that, I don't I don't have any idea, you know,
- 40:31Speaker 13: if I guess if I were the owner of the
- 40:37Speaker 13: Green Briar, I think I would and if I had
- 40:39Speaker 13: the means, I would, I think, take every step necessary
- 40:43Speaker 13: to make sure there was no interruption of service at
- 40:46Speaker 13: a business that requires the service to operate, But that
- 40:52Speaker 13: is outside both my experience and my you know, practical
- 40:56Speaker 13: knowledge level.
- 40:57Speaker 3: I guess that at this point we're just going to
- 40:59Speaker 3: have to fall along and see. Of course, Brad covers
- 41:02Speaker 3: these stories as well as possible from someone who's not
- 41:07Speaker 3: given direct access right now, but you can follow along
- 41:10Speaker 3: and there's a lot of robust coverage at wv metricnews
- 41:12Speaker 3: dot com. As the stories come out. Of course, we'll
- 41:15Speaker 3: be updating them over there and sharing that information. And Brad,
- 41:18Speaker 3: I know it's not easy right now, but I appreciate
- 41:21Speaker 3: the perseverance and just outstanding reporting things.
- 41:24Speaker 5: For what you do.
- 41:25Speaker 13: Hey, thank you. You know. The governor last week, in
- 41:28Speaker 13: response to a question by WCCHS TV reporter Bob Aaron,
- 41:32Speaker 13: a real veteran and pro about this insurance situation, said
- 41:36Speaker 13: that he thought it was like the media it was
- 41:38Speaker 13: rooting against the Green Brier and not even specifically me.
- 41:41Speaker 13: I mean, that was a pretty broad statement, and I
- 41:44Speaker 13: just want to say I really disagree with that. I
- 41:47Speaker 13: have said multiple times and would like to repeat it here.
- 41:50Speaker 13: I wish no harm to the resort itself, or to
- 41:53Speaker 13: the employees, or to the community that depends on the
- 41:57Speaker 13: Green Brier as an economic driver. I hope we can
- 41:59Speaker 13: all be sorted out, and you know, wish everyone the best.
- 42:02Speaker 13: My heart goes out to everybody.
- 42:04Speaker 3: We appreciate that, and I think we all kind of
- 42:05Speaker 3: mirror that that thought as well. It's just you have
- 42:08Speaker 3: to follow the news man. The news is the news.
- 42:11Speaker 13: Yeah, thanks so much. I appreciate our handed and civil
- 42:16Speaker 13: conversation that has a curb with zero name calling at all.
- 42:19Speaker 13: I've not called you a single name, and you have
- 42:21Speaker 13: done the.
- 42:22Speaker 3: Same for me.
- 42:22Speaker 5: Well, Brad, you nice guy.
- 42:24Speaker 3: I appreciate you calling him this morning and sharing some
- 42:26Speaker 3: of your some of your information.

- 46:04Speaker 6: Rob.
- 46:04Speaker 5: How you doing, man?
- 46:05Speaker 17: I can't complain sometimes I still do. I do need
- 46:07Speaker 17: to say I stand with Brad. For those of you
- 46:09Speaker 17: scoring at home, you understand what that means. Yeah, I
- 46:12Speaker 17: just finished up my show and walked over and apparently
- 46:16Speaker 17: I'm gonna need to practice walking a lot between now
- 46:19Speaker 17: and the next I think couple of months. I shot
- 46:22Speaker 17: my mouth off Friday morning right at the radiothon, So.
- 46:28Speaker 11: Let me back up.
- 46:29Speaker 5: There's only room for.
- 46:30Speaker 17: About ten stations to do the radiothon live at the
- 46:34Speaker 17: Hostetler Family Resource Center, tenth floor of WVU Medicine Children's
- 46:38Speaker 17: in Morgantown. And they figured out once they got everybody
- 46:43Speaker 17: set up Wednesday afternoon about three four o'clock that two
- 46:46Speaker 17: stations could actually share a spot, and so they didn't
- 46:51Speaker 17: need two spots each. They put them together on one
- 46:53Speaker 17: table and they were like, hey, we've got one more opening.
- 46:56Speaker 17: Pack a bag, go to Morgantown. It wasn't our original
- 46:59Speaker 17: plan was going to be here in our Walker studios
- 47:01Speaker 17: and just do the thing from here. So I race
- 47:04Speaker 17: up to Morgantown and I get set up, and I
- 47:06Speaker 17: don't know if it was too much caffeine and adrenaline
- 47:11Speaker 17: or not enough sleep, but I got kind of fired
- 47:13Speaker 17: up at the idea that after day one, I wasn't
- 47:16Speaker 17: liking what I saw with the numbers, and I was
- 47:18Speaker 17: worried that we weren't going to surpass last year, which
- 47:22Speaker 17: was about one hundred and sixty thousand. If I recall correctly,
- 47:25Speaker 17: I had the number in front of me.
- 47:26Speaker 11: I don't at the moment.
- 47:27Speaker 17: So I declared about seven to ten on Friday morning
- 47:30Speaker 17: that if we managed to eclipse last year's total, I
- 47:34Speaker 17: would walk the check back to Morgantown.
- 47:37Speaker 5: Oh my goodness, is that you know?
- 47:39Speaker 11: I'd come back here. There's paperwork that needs to be done.
- 47:41Speaker 17: Joe Parsons, our boss here would sign that comically oversized
- 47:45Speaker 17: check and that I would walk it from Charleston back
- 47:48Speaker 17: to WVU Medicine Children's And I have to say West.
- 47:52Speaker 11: Virginians came through for West Virginia kids.
- 47:53Speaker 5: Yeah, gotcha.
- 47:56Speaker 17: Final total one hundred seventy two, four hundred and thirty
- 47:59Speaker 17: four dollars. There's some give or take on that, but
- 48:01Speaker 17: that's an incredibly close number as reported by WVU Medicine Children's.
- 48:06Speaker 17: And I am nothing if not a man of my word.
- 48:08Speaker 17: I know that there were people who thought that, you
- 48:09Speaker 17: know this, it's just show business.
- 48:11Speaker 5: Stick.
- 48:12Speaker 17: No, if I say something like that, especially when it
- 48:14Speaker 17: comes to helping kids be happy, healthy, and healing, I'm
- 48:18Speaker 17: going to follow through with it.
- 48:19Speaker 11: So Martin and Bobby and.
- 48:23Speaker 17: Panhandle Cleaning and Restoration have already stepped up and said,
- 48:25Speaker 17: whatever you.
- 48:26Speaker 11: Need, we got your back.
- 48:27Speaker 5: Oh that's awesome.
- 48:28Speaker 17: So you know not unlike when disaster happens at your house,
- 48:31Speaker 17: They've got your back.
- 48:32Speaker 11: They will clean up for you. So they're going to
- 48:33Speaker 11: help me clean up the mess my big mouth created.
- 48:37Speaker 11: I don't know how we're going to do it. I
- 48:38Speaker 11: don't know when we're going.
- 48:39Speaker 5: To do it. Yet.
- 48:40Speaker 17: There's a lot of eyes to cross and tease to
- 48:42Speaker 17: dot or however you know, hands to kiss and.
- 48:45Speaker 11: Babies to shake or what however that works.
- 48:47Speaker 17: But we're going to figure out how I Am going
- 48:50Speaker 17: to walk this check to Morgantown sometime before year's end.
- 48:54Speaker 11: I can at least say that much.
- 48:55Speaker 17: I'm confident we will get it done before twenty twenty
- 48:58Speaker 17: four is over.
- 48:59Speaker 5: But before the snow comes too. If there is going
- 49:01Speaker 5: to be any.
- 49:02Speaker 11: That would that would be, that would be delightful.
- 49:05Speaker 17: I know that sometimes in the mountaintops that can come
- 49:07Speaker 17: a little early, but it's not like when I lived
- 49:09Speaker 17: in Montana. The joke in Montana was summer was on
- 49:13Speaker 17: a Wednesday. We wore pink because on Wednesdays we wear pink.
- 49:17Speaker 17: So it'll be better than walking through snow in Montana.
- 49:21Speaker 17: But yep, I put my walking shoe in my mouth
- 49:25Speaker 17: on Friday.
- 49:26Speaker 11: But I'm going to pay up. I'm a man of

- 49:44Speaker 3: And when you think about how that impacts our community,
- 49:46Speaker 3: that's gargantu one.
- 49:47Speaker 5: And I know that.
- 49:48Speaker 17: I know that CMN is a national organization, but I
- 49:50Speaker 17: can assure you every penny of that one hundred and
- 49:53Speaker 17: seventy four and thirty four dollars will stay right here
- 49:57Speaker 17: in West Virginia, and it goes to equipment and programs.
- 50:01Speaker 11: It goes to kids. It doesn't go to overhead.
- 50:04Speaker 17: It didn't you know, it didn't pay for my gas
- 50:05Speaker 17: or my lunch to be there in Morgantown for a
- 50:07Speaker 17: couple of days.
- 50:08Speaker 11: It pays to heal kids.
