Stephen Joseph Craig: What's up, man? Thanks for having me again. Jogo: today's question is what is the horror movie that is most fun to watch? Steve and myself kind of worked on this one as well. what are your thoughts on this question, Stephen Joseph Craig: Well, it just makes sense for us to do something like this. You know, we you and I see a lot of movies, and specifically I think we like seeing the fun horror movies when we go to the movies. You know, we had just seen Buddy. I think Jogo: Mm-hmm. Stephen Joseph Craig: that that was a really fun one to see. It's not it's not my pick for number one most fun movie, but you know, Jogo: Mm. Stephen Joseph Craig: I think that I think that we both kind of bond in that way. We like horror. We like we like the hard hitting stuff, which was the first Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: episode we did, or the second one, I forget, which was the most emotionally devastating. But then on the other end, horror can be, you know, just kind of a fun sort of party genre too. So it makes sense that we would cover something like this. Jogo: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I agree. I agree. So let's actually go right into the community answers. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, good idea. So first is Blake Chadwick and he is a drummer that I've gotten to shred with a couple of times on Instagram. sort of a death metal drummer, and also a great dude. And his choice is smile 2 up close to the screen in a movie theater full of other people who were jumping out of their seats and screaming, the best time I've had with a scary movie. Jogo: That was a good one. I liked did you like that movie? Stephen Joseph Craig: I loved it. I thought I think I think I like Smile Two better than Smile One even. But I'm it is? good. Jogo: I think that's like the consensus for the most part too. Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: I was so worried saying it. Like I was Okay, Jogo: Mm-hmm. Stephen Joseph Craig: yeah. Then that's how I feel. Yeah, I I definitely I I think Smile Two that actress just did a great job, you know. And and I Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: think that the metaphor was more it was just put to better use in the second one than the first one. Jogo: Yeah. I I also liked how the how it started, just kinda you know, right from the end of the last one going to the new one. Stephen Joseph Craig: Right, right. I just don't remember a ton from the first one. I just remember not being that into it. I got the metaphor and I felt like the whole movie was just this like really obvious metaphor that they were beating me on the head with. And I was Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: kinda like, you gotta give me more than just that and I thought Smile Two somehow did that, you know, and maybe it was the performance, maybe it was I don't know, the story being better. But I really liked it. Jogo: Yeah yeah. So I have Bass Boomer eighty three, chose for a classic movie, Maybe The Gate. Also Stephen King's The Mist is always fun. Stephen Joseph Craig: That's an interesting one, 'cause that has a famously not fun ending, the myth. But yeah Yeah. Jogo: Yeah. Yeah, that that ending is like the probably the most messed up ending Stephen Joseph Craig: It just yeah, just s sucks so badly. Jogo: i in like in po it's probably the most messed up ending in in a commercial horror movie ever, I would say. what y I guess it depends on what I d you define as commercial horror movie, I guess. But yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: Well definitely it was a commercial yeah, definitely was a commercial horror movie. And yeah, just that ending is so bleak. 'cause how do you live with that? It's you know Yeah, it's just unbelievable. It's just unbelievably dark. But no, that's a cool Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: choice. And what was what was the first one he said? yeah, yeah. Yeah. They have Jogo: the gate. That one is like a n nineteen eighties movie, right? With the little the little kind of troll looking characters, right? Stephen Joseph Craig: Don't they have they have a is that the one where they have a portal in the backyard? Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's a that's a fun one. Jogo: Yeah. Steven Dor Steven Dorf? Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, right, yeah. man, I haven't seen that in so long, but yeah, I do remember that being a really fun movie. It's like up there with like Monster Squad. Yeah. Jogo: Yeah. damn, haven't thought of that one in a while. Stephen Joseph Craig: I me neither, but I I that's what I have on my list that I I'm gonna watch this year for Halloween. I'm already getting into how the spirit of Halloween. Like, you know, I'm just so over summer. It's been so damn hot that, Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: you know, early September we're already ready for Halloween. Jogo: It's like a welcome distraction from the heat, I guess. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Horror movies all the time. I've got Spider Baby up now. I've I've constantly got I've constantly got two to be playing horror movies. so yeah, bring it on, dude. It's already October in my head. Jogo: Mm-hmm. what what is your next one? Stephen Joseph Craig: So next horror movie is Alan. He is a virtuoso guitarist. Jogo: Huh. Stephen Joseph Craig: And and his he says will always be Evil Dead Two to me. And I think we're probably gonna hear that more than once that time. Yeah. Jogo: Probably that's a good one. Stephen Joseph Craig: It is a go it's undeniable. It's such a fun movie. groovy. you know, w w when he's laughing with all the taxiderm animals. It is just outrageous and so great. And Bruce is awesome. And we got that and we got that bad news about him too. Did you hear about this? Jogo: yeah. like he can't be pretty much mentioned that he has stage four cancer, right, or something? Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, and then he has up to five years to live. Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: which is I mean, five years is a I if I if I got any amount of time, at least five years is like, okay, you would have a sort of window of time to be like, what do I do with that? Like that's like Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: a you know what I mean? It's not great. It's not ideal. But it's not like you have three months to live or like one year to live where it's like that's gonna go by so fast I can't even get something done. Jogo: Yeah, that's true. You you feels like you have a a good amount of time to kind of enjoy time, enjoy your life and kind of especially I'm sure he makes he has he has a good amount of like money as well too that he can kind of travel and do things that he might really love and have amazing experiences too. Stephen Joseph Craig: Like how is that how you would spend your last five years? Like if I told you if you got told today you got five years, would you be like, I'm gonna spend it traveling and experiencing the world? Jogo: Don't put that juju on me. Don't you put that juju on me. Just kidding. No, I'm with your witchcraft. I got you, Stephen Joseph Craig. let's see, Stephen Joseph Craig: Sorry, dude. jeez. There I go. Yeah, yeah. jeez. Yeah. Jogo: we'll go to the next one. David Antonio Garcia, he chose the thing, a real marvel of practical effects. I absolutely agree. It's a great movie. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. And it does become fun when you're just like marveling at the practical effects and how good it is, like the technical sort of achievement of it. Movie rocks, man. And it's so crazy to think that not only did it bomb, but it almost ruined John Carpenter's career. And now Jogo: I don't even know. Stephen Joseph Craig: yeah, it bombed. It was like it was a huge flop at the time. It was like it made him look terrible. And, you know, obviously w you know, we know better years later that it's like one of Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: the greatest horror films ever made. Jogo: It seems like a lot of his movies it would be like that. Stephen Joseph Craig: He definitely takes chances. He's a he's a trailblazer, you know. I Jogo: Mm-hmm. Stephen Joseph Craig: think he takes chances and sometimes like doesn't have a big budget or you know, he but he goes for it anyway and that's what Halloween is and it when Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: he hits it when it hits it hits. Jogo: What do you what do you got next? Stephen Joseph Craig: So next I have Hayden, who is in the band Gunge, and his is Evil Dead 2. Jogo: Another Evil Dead Two, yeah. And Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. Jogo: such it's a it's a fun one, dude. I I feel like when you're probably like a teenager or something like that and you watch Evil Dead Two, it's one of those movies that just kind of like overtakes your your brain for a while. I remember watching it probably in my early twenties, I'd say. so I feel like I got to it a little late, but I remember watching and thinking like, Holy shit, this is nuts. Stephen Joseph Craig: do you think two is better than one? Jogo: yeah. Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: I think so too, but then somet sometimes I need someone that's like one is the real and I'm like that's cool. Like like I can get I can get behind someone thinking that 'cause it's like Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: the But I think that too is you know, a sweet spot for them in terms of indie sort of DIY, but like perfecting it to what they wanted it to be from the in the first place, you know. Jogo: Yeah, I I think that like part one has like a earnest feel to it as far as trying to be scary, actually scary. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. Jogo: and then part two is just they kinda have a little bit of that, but I I think they're like, if we're gonna do it again, let's throw this shit in there. Like let's throw in let's Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, let's go for it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Jogo: throw in the three stooges for some reason. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. But I th I that's what I mean. I think that they probably would have liked to do that in the first one more if they could or I don't know. It seems Jogo: Mm-hmm. Stephen Joseph Craig: I I I've seen interviews with with him where with Bruce Campbell where he talks about they were never like he was never really into horror. Like they they wanted it to be more of a comedy. Like they wanted to do s three stooges. And I've seen footage Jogo: Kinda campy. Stephen Joseph Craig: of yeah, and I've seen footage of them do like like Bruce Durd and and Sam Ray. I mean Bruce Durd. Bruce Bruce Campbell and Sam Ray, you know, doing like a three stooges bit behind the scenes Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: just like for fun. Like I think they always wanted to have like fun, silly, but horror was always just a way in for an independent filmmakers, Jogo: Mm-hmm. Stephen Joseph Craig: and it still is, you know, a way for independent filmmakers to kind of like say what they need to say, but then throw some blood and monsters into it, you know, and then you have like a good Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: indie horror that people will like check out. so that's what I mean. I I feel like two is the best because it's the most fun, but I also think it's like the artists being their most true selves too with the slapstick Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: and the wackiness. Jogo: Like they got their the foot in the door and they're able to just really run with it a little bit more. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, yeah. Now we can be more fun than you know, like yeah, now we can be more ourselves. Right, exactly. Jogo: Like be who we are. Yeah. Well yeah, 'cause if you think about it, I mean, even like Army of Darkness, which is the part three, pretty much, even Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, yeah. Jogo: more so like silly and you know, fun and ridiculous. Stephen Joseph Craig: It's like Looney Tunes something like some of those scenes. Yeah, yeah. It's great. Yeah, yeah, Jogo: Yeah. Literally with the skeletons and shit, like Stephen Joseph Craig: yeah. It was crazy. It's great though. That trilogy is great. Jogo: yeah. So let's see, Roho Locomotion, he chose Drag Me to Hell. actually so like another it said and Stephen Joseph Craig: Nice. Jogo: also says I I Iuda Ayuda Meh, which is what she says in the movie, or one of the characters says in the movie. But Drag Me to Hell is have you seen that movie? Another yeah, Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, I love it. I love Sam Ring. Jogo: another Sam Raimi film. So fucking good, dude. That movie is so good. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. I I remember I think I missed it when it came out and caught it like years later. But I still watch it from time to time, like on October. I think it's a great Sara I think it's return to form for him. It was the thing he did after the Spider Man trilogy, right? I think it it Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: may have been the first like it was kind of like okay, I'm gonna be Sam Raby again, Jogo: Ha ha Stephen Joseph Craig: you know, for a little bit. And yeah, it's great. It's got it's gross, it's gooey, it's you know, fun and w and and it's got all the Sam Raimi you know, qualities you'd want. Jogo: Yeah. And I don't want to spoil the ending because the ending is such a amazing payoff. But I will say like it's such a dark ending and and it's kind of weird because it's even if that movie is so fun and kind of out there, like a little wacky too, but like really good, it still kind of fits, you know? It still fits in a weird way. And I would recommend if you guys haven't if you haven't seen Drag Me to Hell. Like during like this Halloween season I would check it out because it's a perfect fit. Stephen Joseph Craig: I do think it's a good October movie and you know, s something with friends and and you know a whatever, yeah, it's fun. I I Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: too would recommend it. Jogo: what else you got? Stephen Joseph Craig: So Walt, aka Wally Grinder, is a guy I was in a band with in Philadelphia. He's a grindcore drummer legend out there in Pennsylvania. Jogo: The Stephen Joseph Craig: And he's Jogo: cool ass name. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, Wally Grinder says, most fun, Friday the thirteenth, part six or eight, Elm Street Part Three, or Hatchet. Jogo: shoot. Okay. I've never seen Hatchet but the other ones are really, Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, yeah. So really? Jogo: really good. Stephen Joseph Craig: Okay, so yeah, so let's start with five of the th five of the thirteenth part six or eight. I th those do stand out for me as particularly fun ones. Six, all I could say is it's the one where there's a smiley face, like he fuck smashes the guy's face into a tree, pulls it away, and there's a smiley face on the tree. It's like Jogo: Ha ha ha. Stephen Joseph Craig: it, you know, it's it's where they really started, I think, being like, all right, no one's taking these movies seriously. Then again, three's kind of three's pretty wacky, but it's one of those where they don't take it seriously. It's a wacky pill, but it's yeah, I do think it's a good one. Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: And then eight is Manhattan, which is like A weird one. It's like two movies. There's one movie where they're on a a boat and then one movie when they're in Manhattan. There's a cool metal chick with a guitar, I think. And he it's got that great memeable scene where he kicks the jukebox, you know, like the those like guys are hanging out in the street corner in Manhattan, listening to like one of those big radio Rahib jukeboxes and he and Jason just comes by and just kicks it. he's like punts it. I love I I think those are both really fun ones. And then and then Elm Street Three is I Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: I just think that movie I don't know if that's a fun one for me. I just think that movie rips. Jogo: It's like peak Narminalm Street pretty much. Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I I think so. And yeah, easily in my top three Elm Street movies. I just think that movie's good as hell. And then Hatchet, I think is a really fun one. It kind of rejuvenated slasher films in a loud, proud like way over the top way in two thousand eight when it came out. I I'm just guessing. I think it's like but I know I was in film school and 'cause we watched it, you know, in the theater in the little theater in my film school. Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: And I was like like more like it was it was the terrifier of that time. It was like you know, in that time it was like it wasn't as big I I don't think, but Adam Greed was kind of a up and coming, you know, horror director and you know, he clearly was like just going balls to the wall, you know, really bloody, really ridiculous. And so I would recommend Hatchet if you haven't seen it and you're into Slasher films, it's the logical next step to take when you're done with the classic Slasher. Jogo: Yeah, I'll check it out. I've never I've never heard of it. So yeah, I'll for sure check it out. Next person I got here is E. Peterosa Tunes. He chose End of Oak Street. It's a newer movie that's out right now with with Ewe McGregor It looks pretty good. It's kind of like their neighborhood is transported or something like that, and there's like dinosaurs running around in the neighborhood. Stephen Joseph Craig: it's a horror Jogo: Park. Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: movie. Jogo: I haven't seen it yet. Stephen Joseph Craig: Did you watch did you used to watch that show Land of the Lost? Welcome to the Land of the Lost. Jogo: Year years ago, I don't remember anything from that Stephen Joseph Craig: remember Jogo: show. Stephen Joseph Craig: I just remember the station wagon like falls into the ground at the beginning and they and they end up with dinosaurs. I did watch it though, I just Did you ever see Tammy in the T Rex? Jogo: No, what was that? Tammy and the T Rex? Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, yeah. It's a movie with Paul Walker and Denise Richards. And Jogo: What? Stephen Joseph Craig: and Paul so I think the way it came to be was like It had something to do with just the availability of this mechanical T Rex that maybe was like s like a museum was trying to get rid of it or something and and and they called this filmmaker and they were like, You wanna do something with this T Rex? He's Yeah, yeah. So he wrote he like just rushed out this script where a girl's boyfriend, his soul gets put into a mechanical T Rex. You know, like how Chucky like that guy, but like he's Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: not a bat and he like has the and the girlfriend and the T-Rex is played by Paul Walker or the boyfriend and the girlfriend is Denise Richards. And he the like this mechanical T-Rex has to come back and like win back over the girl, but he can't speak. Like he has to do charades at the mechanical. It's yeah, it's wacky as hell. Jogo: okay. So wait, so he he so he's not so he's pretty much just once the he goes into the T Rex's body, can you hear his like thoughts and like he's like speaking the thoughts and you can like Stephen Joseph Craig: I don't think so. I haven't se I watched it I watched it maybe like eight years ago. I even think he talks. I think he just like Jogo: Ugh like yeah, like Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like j like gestures and like yeah, make sounds and stuff. I I think Yeah, yeah. Like like charadesing somehow. Jogo: Yeah, he's all riding riding in the sand with his t toad tail on. Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: But it's just like a mechanical T 'cause it's not even I don't even think they tried to make it like it's a real T Rex. I think they like in the movie it's still supposed to be a mechanical T Rex, just one that the boyfriend played by Paul Walker's so Jogo: That's so weird. Is it is it worth watching though? Like worth like Okay. Stephen Joseph Craig: Probably not. I think it sucks. I don't know. I I think it's probably really bad. Like like like it's a it's a movie I think how I did it was like in the background while people are over. I think it'd be that kind of movie. And every now and then you can look up and see like Denise Richards talking to a mechanical T Rex. Jogo: Ha ha ha. Stephen Joseph Craig: And you're like, that's pretty funny. And then you go back to like Yeah, done yeah, who cares? Yeah. Yeah, Jogo: Like not even paying not even paying attention to at all. You're like, look, hors d'oeuvres. cool. Stephen Joseph Craig: yeah, yeah, yeah. What's that? And then like it's it's Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: a a set piece I think is how Jogo: Okay. Stephen Joseph Craig: Tammy and the T Rex should be viewed. But I could be wrong. Jogo: That's cool. Stephen Joseph Craig: If i if there's any listeners that see the like, you know, deeper meaning and the integrity and the you know the the merit Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: of Tammy and the T Rex, I'd love to hear it. Jogo: Yeah, hit up Stephen Joseph Craig at Stephen Joseph Craig dot com. Let's see. So d Stephen Joseph Craig: That's right. Give me your thoughts. Jogo: it do you have another one? Stephen Joseph Craig: No, I think that was it for my communities. Jogo: Alright, I got Don Juan Estrada, he said Shawn of the Dead pops up as Stephen Joseph Craig: Nice. Jogo: my first pick. The original Halloween two with Jamie Lucurtis has so much unintentional comedy, and then Wes Craven's New Nightmare and Scream. A lot to unpack there. I I do think Shawn Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. Jogo: of the Dead is such a fun movie. And Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. Jogo: I didn't choose it for mine, but I could is I could have easily chosen that one. That's a great movie. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, I that's a really good choice. I'm surprised I couldn't e I didn't even think of that one. I I don't it still wouldn't have beaten mine personally for me, but it's a really fun movie that I think again, like anyone could watch. Like Jogo: Mm-hmm. Stephen Joseph Craig: you you could kinda show anybody and they'd be kinda down. Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: It 'cause the comedy is so good and this and there's the relatable characters and it's so tastefully done too. You know, Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: it's just w it's just a solid film, really good like indie you know, quote unquote indie film. Jogo: and gory. It does like I mean what's cool about it is that it doesn't kind of take away from like the the horror elements. 'Cause it does I wouldn't say it's scary, but it is gory and it does f feed into the the zombie kinda zombie movie, you know? Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, the zombies look good, right? Like the the Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: gore and the special effects, everything like looks good. It's a s it's just a overall solid movie. The comedy works, the drama, like it g goes in the drama, that you know yeah, that Jogo: You care about the characters. Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: works. When when the when the father talks about or the stepfather talks about how hard it is to be a father, you know, like that's Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: a power that's a good powerful scene I think. Jogo: He's like, take care of your mom. Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, yeah, it's hard being a dad. You know, whenever like it's just like yeah, you never see it you don't see it from his perspective until it's like too late, you Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: know. Like there's some palpable moments in that movie. it's a great one. And he's a great what's his name is a great filmmaker. Jogo: Edgar Wright. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, Edgar right. Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: I mean I I last night in Soho is that movie is Yeah, it is. Jogo: That's a that's a underrated film, to be honest. That's a good film. Stephen Joseph Craig: It is underrated. Yeah, yeah. That's a great one. so yeah, I good good pick. Jogo: And then also, I mean, to me, Wes Craven's New Nightmare, I think you and I might have talked very briefly about that before, just like talking about it. Stephen Joseph Craig: I was gonna ask you, did you and my brother actually talk about it and you both said you did not like it? Jogo: I've I feel like you just asked me about it or s I I don't know how it even came up. I don't Stephen Joseph Craig: I did ask you. okay. Jogo: yeah, I don't know if it gets came up how it came up, but we were talking about that and I I'm not I don't want to shit on anybody's pick, you know, at all. It it is a I think I just have to see it in a different light. Like like okay, our last episode was like Weezer, right? I'll put it this way. I could enjoy Weezer albums if I think of Weezer alb like that Weezer album as the only Weezer album. And then I can kind of give it its fair like sh like chance. To me, I think I didn't really give Wes Craven's New Nightmare like its own like fair chance. I didn't really see it as like its own movie. I saw it like in the you know, with thinking about every other like Nightmare Now Street movie. So for me I'm like again if I'm thinking Peak nine nightmare naun street is part three. This is like very different from that, you know? It goes more into that whole meta kind of idea of it. I think they have really interesting ideas with it. I just don't know if I think to me more like pacing didn't I felt like it it wasn't as exciting for me. But I can see how people would like this one for sure. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, that's that's fair the way you put it. Way way like if you were thinking of like Nightmare on Elm Street wanting to get back to like where three was, it's not there at all. It's it's my my experience with it was it was the first R-rated movie I had ever seen. It was the first Nightmare on Elm Street movie I'd ever seen. And yeah. Jogo: Really? What New Nightmare was the first one? That's crazy. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, yeah. It was the first like R-rated movie, first slasher movie, first like like it was it was pretty, you know, big in my perspective. And I thought he was really creepy in it. Like Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: And that's what it's kind of known for. Like if you do part of what you appreciate about it is that it is meta. It's that the Freddy Krueger character in the movie exists as a character, as like a you know, fictional character, but then Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: there's a real Freddie Krueger. And that Freddie Krueger is it like the movie Freddie Krueger. He's Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: h his eyes are pale, his voice is deeper, he's like he's truly like from like something of hell. Like, you know, it Yeah, yeah. Yeah, no, yeah, no more. Yeah, and I think that that Jogo: He's like, no nonsense. I don't do fucking jokes. Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: and I didn't know it at the time, but I think that's obviously Wes Craven reacting to the the caricature. MTV, cool, wacky, you know, super Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: Freddy, like all these different sort of you know, Freddy Krueger caricaturizations that happened. Jogo: I've heard that too, yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, so where it's just like, let's make him scarier than he was even in the first one. And that kind of worked for me. Like again, 14 years old, first horror, first R-rated movie I ever saw. I thought it was really creepy. Jogo: also this kind of was like this is your Freddy as much as far as you know. Stephen Joseph Craig: And and and not just by Freddie, but that concept of if you fall asleep, you're gonna get ripped to pieces. Like that to me I I I'm I'm not a guy that has a hard time falling asleep. I'm a guy that like if I'm tired, I'm falling asleep. You know, like I used to doze I used to be infamous for like falling asleep at parties or like you know Yeah Yeah, and I'm just dentist Jogo: I've gone to the movies with you, Steve. I've looked over and you're asleep. A few times. Stephen Joseph Craig: You know what I'm talking about? What Jogo: We've never talked about this, but Stephen Joseph Craig: was that one what was that one we saw a couple like a couple of months ago? I was out the whole time. But I wasn't the only one. I was gonna say, it wasn't just me. Jogo: shit, I know what you're talking about, yeah. I think everyone was out. Stephen Joseph Craig: Is that iron lug or something? And just everyone in the theater. Jogo: Yeah, I think d I look over and Danielle and I were the only ones awake and she's on the other end of it and your other friend that was with us, he was like totally out too. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, yeah. Do you hear that? Jogo: But yeah, so that is interesting, the whole like I mean the c yeah, that concept is terrifying in general and no matter how you you put it out there. But yeah, for sure. Stephen Joseph Craig: But let me but let but also I mean let's let's think about it too, like like it was a little kid, which I think makes it really scary too, like you Jogo: Mm-hmm. Stephen Joseph Craig: know, a little kid being a victim as opposed to like Johnny Depp in a in a like Jogo: Mm-hmm. Stephen Joseph Craig: ridiculous like cut off, you know, b tank top Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: or whatever he's wearing. you know, and and it definitely felt more like grounded Jogo: Mm-hmm. Stephen Joseph Craig: and real to me, you know, and and he's just sort of dark and creepy and humorless. And so yeah, my introduction to him was like, damn, that is that is scary. And then you go back and obviously the first one is the, you know, the gra Jogo: Pretty similar. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, yeah. And well the c and and the groundbreaking film that it is, you know, the Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: you know, worthy of its legacy. but you do see that It it go it Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: gets really silly really quick and it doesn't really explore how scary it is to you know not be allowed to fall asleep or a man is gonna rip you to pieces. And I don't know. I I just I just felt that a little more with New Nightmare. Jogo: Mm-hmm. Stephen Joseph Craig: That said, I don't know that I'd say it's a fun movie for me, but I do think it's a really good movie. And and also Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: the like spiritual descendant of Screen, I think, right? Jogo: yeah, I think so, yeah. It's like definitely inspiration for Scream. But Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. Jogo: I I don't think 'cause I think that someone else wrote Scream, right? I know Wes Craven directed Scream, but I don't think he he wrote it. Stephen Joseph Craig: he didn't write Scream? yeah, I Jogo: No. Stephen Joseph Craig: think you're right. Yeah, I th I think yeah, that's right. I try to get more into like the anthology or whatever of Scream and like Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: to me it's it's just Scream on. Jogo: I'm a big Screamhead, but I w I mean like I I really I know pretty much a lot about Scream, I think. But Stephen Joseph Craig: But but do you like the sequels? Yeah. They're not bad. Jogo: I do. I think they're pretty good. I mean, it's very episodic at some point, but yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. Not that they're bad, I just think that Jogo: It's very specific. Like it's like a pop popcorn kind of like like T movie. Stephen Joseph Craig: Y but the but yeah, the the first scream, I mean you remember when that came out, how massive that was. Jogo: Mm. Stephen Joseph Craig: And massive being this sort of like meta you know, slasher film that comments on slasher films and, you know, works as a slasher film. And how many movies after that that tried to be the next Scream and just none of them could be? Like there's something Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: very flash in the bottle or whatever. Light to get a bottle about Scream. Jogo: I think so too. And I don't know I don't know what it is exactly, but it it just all worked together. let's see, so let's I have little little Edro Di Carmona, he really liked Fright Knight. was a little cheesy, but a classic. I felt like it always it was always on T V in the nineties. Yeah, it was a good movie. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. And great vampires. Jogo: Yeah. A Jack Skellington voice was the main vampire, I think, right? Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: really? I didn't know that. That's yeah, sweet. Yeah yeah, Friday night's a good one. Jogo: That was a really good one. And like I like the evil ed, which was like the Stephen Joseph Craig: Nice. Jogo: yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, I remember that. Yeah, yeah. I I it's a little long, but it's a fun movie. It's got a lot of great gore. I wanna say I tried Jogo: Spazy. Stephen Joseph Craig: watching it like a year ago or two ago and I was like this is longer than I remember it being, but it's still like I really Jogo: I could Stephen Joseph Craig: it's crazy. Jogo: I could st I could totally see it being kinda it was pretty long, but I love that evil lead character where he's like, Hey Brewster! Like just Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Jogo: But let's see. then we got Spooky underscore fox says, I don't watch a lot of horror, so I'm gonna go with Poltergeist. It's like the Jurassic Park of horror. Stephen Joseph Craig: It's also just a great movie. And it is Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: kinda fun. It's a good choice. If you don't watch horror movies very much, that's a good choice. It's just Yeah. Jogo: It's exciting. It's a very exciting movie. And I like that I mean I love that part where that guy the I think he's like working with the spiritual lady. I forgot what she what does she do when that's that says, this house is clean, whatever. Caroline. But so one of the guys that works for her, Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Jogo: where he like goes into like the the the restroom and he like His face is like all melting and everything. And that was all done practical. dude, that was such a cool part. I remember Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Jogo: watching that first time thinking, holy shit, how'd they do this? Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, yeah. All the effects are great. It's also, you know, Toby Hooper with with Steven Spielberg, which is a I heard I heard that Spielberg mostly directed it. I don't know I don't know Jogo: yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: how true that is. I didn't I didn't look into it. Someone told me like Toby Hooper, you know, was was in over his head on that one. So it's kind of a Spielberg movie. Which I don't know if it's you, but I could see it because there's a lot Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: of that movie that feels very amblin'. Jogo: Mm-hmm. Stephen Joseph Craig: like the beginning when we're with the family. It feels kind of it to me felt like the beginning of like E.T. It feels like that sort of like natural family Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: dynamic, or Jaws or whatever, you know, like it felt it it had that Spielberg feel, like the setup and everything, and the family Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: dynamic. Jogo: do you think that like if it was just Steven Spielberg that it would have felt the same way? Like it would it's it would have hit the same? Stephen Joseph Craig: Like what did Toby Hoover bring to it at all? Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, it's a good question because it's not like Jogo: Thank you. Stephen Joseph Craig: it it's it's hard to say because it's not like there's anything about it that's unmistakably Toby Hooper from his Jogo: Mm-hmm. Stephen Joseph Craig: like other from the Texas Shade Saw series. Jogo: Texas chainsaw mascot, yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, or like Funhouse. I've seen you know but you could you could say that Spielberg never really tackled horror. So I would imagine that Toby Hooper would be the sort of horror connoisseur or the horror expert on the set at the very Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: least with Spielberg. That's you know, the thing with Texas Chainsaw is like it's really hold no b like hold to no bard. Like it it's Jogo: Mm-hmm. Stephen Joseph Craig: it's so like unhinged and like and it fucking rocks. And I imagine Spielberg being like he's he's obviously much more restraint, Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: but being like, if you know, let me bring a ho a unhinged horror guy like this into my universe and then and then, you know, use him for those sort of horror notes. Yeah. Jogo: Mm-hmm. Yeah, even kind of sifting through the ideas really. Cause even that that whole thing with that that the clown pulling little boy into the under the bed, that's super scary. Or the the tree and all this kind of stuff like the Stephen Joseph Craig: Or when the even the w when the to me like the girl being pulled around the ho like room and Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: stuff like that, like thing it it's yeah, things happen very jarringly and that I guess maybe if anything is Toby Hooper, it's like that. Jogo: I think so. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, that jarring sort of like like the rug be Jogo: It doesn't hold back a lot. Stephen Joseph Craig: yeah, the rug being pulled under you suddenly, you know, Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: like would be that kind of stuff. But I don't know, yeah, it's a good question. Or maybe he directed more than we think. We weren't there, you know. Jogo: Mm. Stephen Joseph Craig: Okay. Jogo: So the next one we got is Cass underscore Chavez Fitness. she chose The Shining. I can see how that mo that movie could be pretty fun though too. Like it's a pretty dark movie, but Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. Jogo: it There's also things that are just kind of like like shit, this is pretty crazy. Like I don't know. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, I think I think it's like it's kinda like Weezer where you could watch it It could be fun, like you could watch it and just be like, well watch it for like the fun moments or or you know Jack Nicholson being a little over the top or whatever, Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: you know, or you could really sit with it and like delve into the darkness of it and you know, it's it's multifaceted, it might say. Jogo: Yeah, like the tone lends itself to kind of a a little bit of a fun because it's so ominous in general. You're like, you kind of take the piss out of it a little bit. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, and wacky stuff happens, like kind of like r you know, like the bear Jogo: Yeah. Or the old old lady in the in the bathtub, you're like ha ha ha Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: blowing a guy. Yeah. Yeah, the old lady. Exactly. Yeah, yeah. Like that's kind of fun. Yeah, I could definitely or like, you know, Red Rub. Like you could definitely have fun with that movie. So I'd say Jogo: Yeah. You're like, look at this crazy ass kid. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah Yeah, yeah. Jogo: Let's see. Altered Vince's chose Sean of the Dead, Demon Knight, Tucker and Dale versus Evil, ready or not, and no well, and this one I haven't heard of called One Cut of the Dead. Stephen Joseph Craig: I don't think I know that either. Jogo: But yeah, d Demon Knight's really good. Demon Knight we Stephen Joseph Craig: Wait, which one's is that the one with Jaden Pink and Swi Smith? Or is that the one Jogo: Yes. Stephen Joseph Craig: with Okay, yeah. So they're like in like Yeah. I I don't Jogo: Like a hotel kind of place, bed and breakfast, bread yeah, bread and breakfast. Stephen Joseph Craig: think I've seen that since like the nineties, but I do remember that movie. Cause there was two Jogo: Yeah, it Stephen Joseph Craig: Tales of the Crypt, and I think that that was the first one. It was Jogo: that one is the other one is Bordello of Blood. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yes. And I remember when that came out and that was with who's that comedian? Jogo: Dennis Miller. Dennis Miller. Stephen Joseph Craig: that comedian? Dennis Miller. Yeah, Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: yeah, but yeah, those are I think they're both fun movies, but yeah, Demon Knight I remember a little bit more and it's it's just like Jogo: Mm-hmm. Stephen Joseph Craig: a good fun like horror Jogo: Also less boobs. I mean like like Demon Knight is I mean Bordello of Blood, it's a bordello, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. Let's see. Stephen Joseph Craig: Well yeah, you know yeah, you know you're getting boobs with Bordello, but yeah. Jogo: and then Tucker and Dale versus Evil, really good one. it's pretty funny. It's a pretty funny movie. Stephen Joseph Craig: I really wanna rewatch that this year 'cause I remember watching it when it came out and thinking Jogo: Mm-hmm. Stephen Joseph Craig: it was amazing and really funny and I just never watched it since. And that kinda crossed my mind this year. Like I gotta rewatch that. 'Cause that Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: is a fun one. I remember it being really fun. Jogo: And ready or not, that's a good one. yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: Also the sequel. Jogo: Really good too, yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, both of them I think were great. Jogo: And our last answer is from Cult Gent. He said I have two for fun two for the fun. Or our last answer was from Colt Gent. I have two for fun horror. One has conditions. Drag me to hell. So that one. And then the one that is has conditions is Cabin in the Woods. If I can watch it for the first time again for both fun and to be surprised again. Haha. Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: Good choice. Jogo: Yeah, I agree. The Cab Cabin of the Woods is one of those movies that 'cause I rewatched it after I knew the the like the twists and the payoff. And it still is a pretty fun movie because you get to look at the Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. Jogo: details of like the payoff. Like the characters. Stephen Joseph Craig: I think yeah. I think that's also a movie most people kinda dig. Like it's different. It's Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: it's it's unique in a way that everyone can be like nice. Like I get it. Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: That's that's pretty cool. Like that's a good twist on like it's a good twist on something on like things that everyone knows, familiar territories, Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: but doing it in Jogo: And I Stephen Joseph Craig: a very nuanced way. Jogo: and I like how it has like some of like the generic versions of the character of like those like old horror movies, like like a pinned head looking pinhead looking guy. He's Stephen Joseph Craig: Right, right. Jogo: like in a cut off shirt or cut off like top. Stephen Joseph Craig: I might have to rewatch that one too, because I don't rem that the only thing is that I don't remember a lot. Jogo: Yeah, it was good. Stephen Joseph Craig: But it but I know yeah, that's kinda what I remember. It's like it's good and everyone kind of accepts that it's good. Yeah, that's a good choice. Jogo: So let's go in our picks. Stephen Joseph Craig: to the to most of the world it might be known as brain dead, but to yeah, but to I'm gonna call Jogo: yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: it what what else Yanks call it, Dead Alive, Peter Jackson, New Zealand, a ma just like It's such a fun and and and again I'm really emphasizing the word fun here. Like Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: it's a good movie. It gets gory, it gets kinda creepy but it is just fun from beginning to end. You can watch it with people. Jogo: Mm-hmm. Stephen Joseph Craig: If it's on just then you're there. The the camera work is so like in your face with like wide angle lenses. Everything looks kind of like like color like outrageous. the characters are kind of outrageous. Every scene feels like some crazy sort of fever dream. Him him walking the kid in the park is like one of the best scene, you know, like the the Jogo: Mm-hmm. Stephen Joseph Craig: d the zombie baby. And he's like trying to walk him in the park and be like a normal dad. Jogo: Ha ha. Stephen Joseph Craig: like the I kick ass in the Lord's name and and come to mama. Yeah, I can't gasp with the Lord. Jogo: I kick I kick asked for the Lord, yeah. Yeah, my Stephen Joseph Craig: It's just like every scene, even the beginning when they're like in Africa, you know, and it's like they're all pointing at the the like the Jogo: That little rat thing. Stephen Joseph Craig: yeah, the rat thing the r the rat monkey or whatever bites bites somebody and they all point to it and then chop it off. It's so fun. It's so solid and then that whole end not end but that whole climax, which I think maybe Kill Bill broke the record. but there was a point where it was the record for most like fake blood use. But it's not just it's not just how blood bathey it is, which it is, and that's part of what's so great about Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: it. How many how just how much blood there is. It's how well choreographed. it is like the details from shot to shot. It's like a ballet. Like, Jogo: Mm-hmm. Stephen Joseph Craig: you know, where you're looking at a hand like a character and you don't expect all of a sudden a hand flies through from the back of the person's head and through their mouth. you know, and then that person gets put into a light bulb and their head flashes and you see that come back later on. And like, you know, he's he's mowing through people with with a lawnmower and yet there's like this sort of like dance to it where he's slipping through and then Jogo: Mm-hmm. Stephen Joseph Craig: spinning around and slipping through again and it's so meticulous and it's so brilliant. the whole time there's still this story, you know, there's still this kind of hero's journey, you know, where you where you're connecting with the character and want him to detach from his mother. and live his own life where you know, with this girl and all of that. And that's all simple and fun. Again, fun. Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: But like every aspect of it, set design, noise, you know, sound, music, camera work, acting, performances, it's so fun. It's so like solid. I I you know, I and it's Jogo: Yeah, Peter Peter Jackson. I mean Peter Jackson's brilliance, yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, Peter Jackson's brilliance. And and so that like there's lots of fun horror movies I could have I could have named. But when you told me this topic, I was like, It's dead alive for me. Jogo: Yeah, we Yeah, that's it's a it's a fun movie and it's so bloody and it's so but it's so like there's a certain hyper energy to the movie it's as well. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. Hyper energy. Yeah, that's that's it. And like it yeah, it's just like Jogo: It just it just moves, like it just moves the whole movie. Stephen Joseph Craig: And each scene, yeah, that's what I mean. Each scene kind of like just keeps that momentum going. Even if it's even if it's just like as simple as a dinner scene where they're all sitting together. It's you know, you know what I'm saying? The you know, where's the pudding? Jogo: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Go go watch Yes. Go watch that movie too. That's a great I mean, audience, if you haven't seen it, y yeah, check it out. It's so good. Stephen Joseph Craig: if you haven't seen it, it really should be on your October like horror movie list. Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: And it's and it's definitely something you can watch with friends or at a party. It's it's Jogo: heck yeah, heck yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: not like it's not because I d you know, if if you've listened to this show, you might know I'm into like transgressive, you know, hard to watch stuff, but this is not really that. Like it's not crossing any line in terms of like sexual violence or I don't think, right? Or like Jogo: Yeah. I don't think I don't think so. And it there is a lot of gore and craziness, but it it kinda takes the piss out of itself, really. Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. Very cartoony, like very wacky, over the top, but done really well, just done masterfully by Peter Jackson. Jogo: Yeah, different color blood too and everything. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Jogo: So my main choice, I'll go into that. It's it is Nightmare in Alm Street 3, Dream Warriors 1987, Robert England as Freddie Kruger, Heather Langcap as Nancy, Patricia Arquette as Kristen. I think that movie is just so much fun. And it's it's kind of funny because I I'm I'm guessing that is the point of the like the Freddy journey where where Wes Kramer was like, fuck this. Because that's Stephen Joseph Craig: huh. Jogo: where it does get kind of fun and Freddie gets a little bit more like I mean, he he puts someone's head into a t television that wants to be an aspiring actor and t and tells her, Welcome to Primetime, bitch Like Stephen Joseph Craig: I I would say it's the sweet spot. Like that's what I think. It's the sweet spot where it's like, yeah, it's fun, but it's not like stupid. Like it you know Jogo: I don't know man. I don't know. I think wet wes Wes Kramer was like, fuck this what did I what it is this? Stephen Joseph Craig: yeah, yeah, you're from Wes Craven's perspective, but it didn't Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: get to like super friendly stupid. Jogo: no, this is I think this is the beginning of it. So it's like it's like s st Stephen Joseph Craig: It's the beginning of it, yeah. Jogo: stupid light, but it's like the right amount of like he's still pretty scary. Yeah, he's still very scary. Stephen Joseph Craig: That's what I'm saying. Yeah, yeah, that's what I'm saying. Could cause the scares are still effective. Like it's still creepy Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: and disturbing and there's like self-mutilation and right, isn't there like there's Jogo: The marionette guy, marionette tendon. Like where he pulls Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. Jogo: the tendons out of that guy's arm and like he's a marionette. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yes. That's right, that's right. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And Jogo: I think that's probably like the most disturbing like deaths of all of to me. Like in the movie. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, yeah. I think there's some wacky stuff, but Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: I I can definitely see why West Andr West Craven hated it. Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: maybe West Anderson hates it too, I don't know. Jogo: man, imagine like a Wes Wes Anderson Night Renown Street remake. Jee shh. Stephen Joseph Craig: They d there was a Saturday Night Live sketch that was like if Wes Anderson made a horror movie, but it was like a it was a like Jogo: yeah, it was wasn't it like Friday the thirteenth or something like that? Stephen Joseph Craig: it it was like a home invasion film, but it but it was like the coup coup d'array of what's I for I forget. It was like i it's funny. You should you should like it's it's Jogo: I'll check it out. Stephen Joseph Craig: yeah, it's Ed Norton playing Owen Wilson. And Norton is like playing Owen Wilson in the Wes Anderson fake trailer. Just look up like SNL Wes Anderson horror and you'll find. Jogo: I'll check it out, yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, it's a great, it's a great sketch. Jogo: But yeah, I'd say this is a really fun movie to watch. I wouldn't say it's as fun as evil as Dead Alive. It's not it's but it's a it's just a badass movie. Stephen Joseph Craig: It is a great Jogo: and Stephen Joseph Craig: movie. It's just good. It's just really good. Jogo: And then Creep Show two is my my kind of runner up. That was from nineteen eighty seven. an anthology series. not sure if you've seen that one, Steve. Stephen Joseph Craig: Dude, I j I watched Creep Show One a couple of times. I don't know if I've ever seen two. Jogo: Creep Show one is really good. I was kinda in between both of those, but I always felt like Creep Show two was a little bit more I don't know, I just felt I think it's probably more nostalgic for me. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. I'll watch it this Jogo: but yeah Stephen Joseph Craig: year. I'll put it on my list because Creepshow One is great. I I yeah, I d I just don't know if I've ever seen it. I just don't remember anything from it. Jogo: Yeah, Creepshow so Creep Show 2, they have three stories in this one. It's the old Chief Woodenhead, which is good. and the raft is I'd say a really great one too. It's where these kids get stuck on a raft in this lake, I guess you could say. And there's like a big glob that's kind of like chasing them onto or like kind of like surrounding them or on the raft. And then there is the hitchhiker, which is fucking nuts and really cool. Stephen Joseph Craig: But same vibe as part one. Jogo: I think so, yeah. 'Cause even the connecting kind of story, it's it's really playful. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. Jogo: So Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, 'cause one it it is it is a really fun movie, part one. So I imagine part two just takes off where that is. Jogo: I think so. I would say that it's probably not as like comic booky as part one though. Stephen Joseph Craig: Got it. Jogo: other than other than the connective story tissue thing that like that's more comic Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. Jogo: book or cartoony but the rest of aren't as like like, you know, like pow or something like as the Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. Jogo: first one. Stephen Joseph Craig: well I'm adding it to my list for Oc my October watch. I'm gonna definitely watch Creepshow 2 this year. Jogo: Yeah. And then my last honorable mention, I guess, is Halloween, the original Halloween, from nineteen eighty nineteen seventy eight. And Stephen Joseph Craig: Hell yeah. that's that's like a movie you could go Jogo: no no no no no Stephen Joseph Craig: on that's a movie w I feel like we can go on and on. It's a genius film. It's Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: you know, it changed horror. maybe not the first slasher film, but it doesn't like the way that it was done is like set the mark Jogo: And it I always Stephen Joseph Craig: you Jogo: think it's great because it does feel like Halloween. Like like when you watch it, it does feel like the holiday Halloween. Like you're like it it's so reminiscent of when Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. Yeah. Jogo: I was a kid during Halloween and I'd like walk around trick or treat. Like it it gives me that feeling still watching it. Stephen Joseph Craig: That's a c that's a cool point too, 'cause yeah, that's what I always think when it's October, is just like I gotta get some movies in there that have that like Halloween worship kind of spirit. Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: Pumpkin jack-o' lanterns and you know, yeah, like fall weather and Halloween is definitely one of those movies, obviously. Trick or treat is another good one, I think. That Jogo: Mm-hmm. Yeah. I love that movie too. Stephen Joseph Craig: has that yeah, that has that vibe. Hocus pocus. Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: but yeah, yeah yeah, Halloween Halloween dude, that movie just rocks. It's it's time timeless. Jogo: And also Dr. Loomis. And also Dr. Loomis. Stephen Joseph Craig: It's it's time timeless. Jogo: Dr. Loomis, who's played by D Donald Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. Jogo: Pleasants. Dude, man. That guy. Michael. Like just like running around the whole time. He's evil. Get him. Yeah. Like, okay, Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, yeah. The evil is gone now. Yeah Jogo: man, cool. Stephen Joseph Craig: Did you like the remake? The Rob Zobbie remake, I'd be Jogo: Not really. I mean it's I don't know man, how could those people like afford that house? I just I was really kind of stuck on that. Stephen Joseph Craig: Interesting. What about the what about the other remake, the Danny McBride remake? Jogo: I I actually like that trilogy. I know it's a little bit more controversial, but I really like the that Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. Jogo: trilogy. I know that the last movie was like like people hated that movie, but I thought it was cool because Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. Jogo: it had an end to it. Stephen Joseph Craig: Okay. I I gotta see it. I I only saw the first one. Jogo: You're you're probably gonna hate it, Stephen Joseph Craig: really? Jogo: well, I mean, Stephen Joseph Craig: really? Jogo: well, I mean, I just think a lot of people are like really down on it, but I I think I'm in the minority of people who actually enjoy it. Stephen Joseph Craig: So I feel that way but about Rob Zombie's Halloween part two. Jogo: Okay. Stephen Joseph Craig: People hate that movie. And I find I I like waited a while to see it 'cause I believed everybody. And Jogo: Mm-hmm. Stephen Joseph Craig: maybe that's partly why like I went in with such low expectations Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: that I went and I was like, This is pretty cool, like it's like first of all Michael Myers is just absolutely ruthless. Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: Like beat beating the fuck out of people. Like Jogo: I also that that w I one thing I will say about Rob Zombie's Halloween movies was I agree with you. He is he was pretty ruthless. There's a part where Danny Trejo, who is remember that part where he's like he's like his homie kind of? He's like really nice to him and he's like works at the yeah, Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Jogo: he works at the hospital. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, yeah, Jogo: And then I Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. Jogo: the part where Michael Myers kills him, he's like, Michael, I was Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah. Jogo: always good to you, Michael. Come on man, like Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, yeah, And that's the point. he was really trying to kind of show like this is the origin of evil and this is a guy that like ends up with just absolutely no heart Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: at least his idea of what Michael lies in and It goes hard. But also Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: I like I like I like the weird like surrealism horror stuff that he does. Like not always it's like, you know Words Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: of Saleh I think maybe had too much of it, but like In in h in Halloween two, yeah, I I like it. It's it's cool. It's like nice like window dressing, like creepy, weird looking little people and stuff, but you know, it's just like I think it's cool. It's that like classic Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: Rob Zombie Halloween worship, creepy horror, you know, like surreal, weird visions of hell kind of thing. So Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: I'm I'm that way with Halloween two, but I do think the classic is the original Halloween and there's just something special about that movie and it holds up Jogo: It just does everything right, I think. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, yeah, yeah. There's just so many movies that try to like do what it does and Jogo: So, I think that's pretty much it though. been our episode. Okay. Stephen Joseph Craig: Well let me say real real quick. No one said killer cause from outer space. Jogo: yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, no one said Toxic Avenger. There was there was a few that I thought like I wonder like they that that are really fun or movies. scared stupid. So these are just some these are just some and then and then Return of the Living Dead, which is one of my favorite movies but I didn't say because it has such a really dark ending that Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: I was like not it's not really fun when when the credit but kind of is I mean, you know. So those are my honorable mentions just off the top of my head Jogo: Those are really good too. Yeah, I think it's a it's a hard question in a way because it is like, I was even kind of thinking about terrifier movies. it's fun in the way that you're like, it's almost daring yourself, you know, initially watching it. I think in the way Stephen Joseph Craig: Yeah, it's fun like a more roller coaster way then. It's like Jogo: Yeah. Stephen Joseph Craig: you're like there's you know there's drops where you're like, you know like you Jogo: Yeah.
