- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're going to start taking
- 0:07Speaker 1: a look at the Bill Clinton transcript from his visit
- 0:11Speaker 1: to Congress. Now, previously I only had access to the video,
- 0:15Speaker 1: but now we have the transcript, so we're just going
- 0:19Speaker 1: to jump right in after he was sworn in, and
- 0:21Speaker 1: there's an exchange between Cheryl Mills and the Committee. That's
- 0:26Speaker 1: where we're going to start. Cheryl Mills, I have a
- 0:29Speaker 1: comment before we begin, Please, mister Chairman. I want to
- 0:32Speaker 1: start out by saying, as you know, yesterday there was
- 0:35Speaker 1: a photo released, and I appreciate you assuring and admonishing
- 0:38Speaker 1: to the Committee and all of us of your obligations. Obviously,
- 0:43Speaker 1: we want to make sure that doesn't happen again. We've
- 0:45Speaker 1: obviously experienced a number of deep fakes that have now
- 0:48Speaker 1: been circulating on the web, not because of anything that
- 0:51Speaker 1: the Committee did, but because of the release of this
- 0:54Speaker 1: particular photograph. And for that reason I would ask two things.
- 0:58Speaker 1: One a reminder to all that the obligation to maintain
- 1:02Speaker 1: what is occurring in this room occurs, and to a
- 1:04Speaker 1: release of the video of the Secretary's testimony as soon
- 1:08Speaker 1: as possible, ideally today, which was in twenty four hours,
- 1:12Speaker 1: and the same for the presidents, so that there are
- 1:15Speaker 1: not deep fakes that are representing what's happening here when
- 1:19Speaker 1: they actually have not. James Comer, Yeah, and let me
- 1:22Speaker 1: say yesterday that was an unfortunate situation, Cheryl Mills, I
- 1:26Speaker 1: appreciate it. Comer. We had probably two things that should
- 1:29Speaker 1: have shouldn't have happened, the release of the photo as
- 1:32Speaker 1: well as a Democrat member communicating with the New York Times.
- 1:35Speaker 1: So I will again remind everyone to refrain from sending
- 1:39Speaker 1: pictures or texting with media outlets outside. Melvin is our
- 1:43Speaker 1: videographer and he's doing this today as well as producing
- 1:46Speaker 1: the video, so we'll get them out hopefully as soon
- 1:49Speaker 1: as possible, hopefully within the next twenty four hours. Cheryl Mills,
- 1:53Speaker 1: thank you very much, Chairman. I appreciate that nothing more.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Jack Emmer, who is the investigator for James Comer, mister President,
- 2:02Speaker 1: do you wish to provide an opening statement? Bill Clinton?
- 2:06Speaker 1: I do. It's brief. First of all, good morning, and
- 2:09Speaker 1: welcome to all of you to our hometown. I appreciate
- 2:12Speaker 1: you coming here. I'm here today basically for two reasons.
- 2:16Speaker 1: First of all, I love my country and the Constitution,
- 2:19Speaker 1: and I believe America was built on the idea that
- 2:21Speaker 1: no one is above the law, especially presidents, and that
- 2:25Speaker 1: we should all live by the same set of rules
- 2:27Speaker 1: shaped with the Constitution. Democracy requires every person to play
- 2:31Speaker 1: their part, and I hope by being here today, we
- 2:35Speaker 1: can bring ourselves a little further away from the brink
- 2:38Speaker 1: and back to being a country where we can disagree
- 2:40Speaker 1: civilly and search for the truth and justice. And if
- 2:44Speaker 1: that outweighs the partisan urge, spectacle and point scoring, I'll
- 2:47Speaker 1: do my part, and I hope that you'll do yours.
- 2:51Speaker 1: The second reason I'm here is that the girls and
- 2:53Speaker 1: women who's lives Jeffrey Epstein destroyed deserved not just justice
- 2:57Speaker 1: but healing. They've been waiting too long for both. Through
- 3:01Speaker 1: my brief acquaintance with Jeffrey Epstein, though it ended years
- 3:04Speaker 1: before his crimes came to light, and though I never
- 3:07Speaker 1: witnessed during our limited interactions any indication of what was
- 3:10Speaker 1: going on, I'm here to offer what little I know
- 3:13Speaker 1: so I can do my part to prevent something like
- 3:15Speaker 1: this from happening again. I have to say one personal thing,
- 3:19Speaker 1: since Hillary came in yesterday. She had nothing to do
- 3:22Speaker 1: with Jeffrey Epstein. Nothing. There's a picture of us both
- 3:25Speaker 1: shaking hands with them in a photo line. In nineteen
- 3:28Speaker 1: ninety three, had a fundraiser for the White House Historical Association.
- 3:32Speaker 1: I don't know how it is under President Trump, but
- 3:35Speaker 1: when I was there, it was about the most non
- 3:38Speaker 1: political operation you can imagine. There were people who loved
- 3:41Speaker 1: the White House, who were interested in it, would give
- 3:43Speaker 1: a little money every year and do things that needed
- 3:45Speaker 1: doing around the house, and nothing nearly as extravagant as
- 3:49Speaker 1: the ballroom or any of that, just things that had
- 3:51Speaker 1: to be done. And neither she nor I remembered shaking
- 3:54Speaker 1: his hand at all those years ago, So I don't
- 3:57Speaker 1: think that was right. On the other hand, I think
- 4:00Speaker 1: you should be talking to me. I think you should
- 4:02Speaker 1: have called me. I did take those plane trips with them,
- 4:05Speaker 1: and you have a right to ask those questions. So
- 4:07Speaker 1: I'm glad to be here, and I understand what the
- 4:09Speaker 1: oath is. I have to be honest with you. I'll
- 4:12Speaker 1: be eighty years old if I lived on my next birthday.
- 4:15Speaker 1: I don't remember everything that happened twenty four years ago,
- 4:18Speaker 1: but I do remember some things, and I will tell
- 4:20Speaker 1: you what I remember as best I can. We each
- 4:24Speaker 1: of us are the victims nothing less than the truth
- 4:26Speaker 1: and accuracy. We owe that to the American people. And
- 4:30Speaker 1: I actually hope that you'll be able to come up
- 4:31Speaker 1: with some suggestions that will reduce human trafficking and especially
- 4:35Speaker 1: focus on underage girls. I hope you'll be able to
- 4:38Speaker 1: do that. I know that Hillary talked a little yesterday
- 4:41Speaker 1: about what the State Department does and what she pushed
- 4:45Speaker 1: on human trafficking in girls when she was Secretary of State.
- 4:49Speaker 1: We had to deal with it, and in my foundation,
- 4:51Speaker 1: I saw it in Nigeria with Boko Haram when they
- 4:54Speaker 1: were rampaging through the north of Nigeria and we were
- 4:57Speaker 1: working to trying to stop deaths from diarrhea or the
- 5:00Speaker 1: young children. And it was interesting. These guys were cold
- 5:03Speaker 1: and calculated. They said, Oh, you don't have to leave
- 5:07Speaker 1: because of the kids who are helping are younger than
- 5:09Speaker 1: the ones we want. They have to be about nine
- 5:12Speaker 1: before they're worth anything to us. So this is really
- 5:15Speaker 1: important and I'll do what I can to make whatever
- 5:17Speaker 1: contribution I can. Thank you, Jack Emmer, Thank you. The
- 5:21Speaker 1: Time Reads eleven twenty eight. The Majority's time will begin now.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Mister President, thank you for agreeing to testify today and
- 5:29Speaker 1: for your years of service to our country. I want
- 5:31Speaker 1: to start from the beginning. When did you first meet
- 5:34Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein? Answer? Well, I try in this testimony, and
- 5:38Speaker 1: I'll point it out when I'm aware. There's a picture
- 5:40Speaker 1: of something that predates this. There's a picture where it
- 5:44Speaker 1: shows him shaking hands in the White House Historical Association
- 5:46Speaker 1: reception that was ninety three, but I'm not aware of that.
- 5:50Speaker 1: I first remember meeting them when I got on his
- 5:52Speaker 1: airplane to take the first trip with my foundation, I
- 5:55Speaker 1: think two thousand and two. Whenever it was question and
- 5:59Speaker 1: to be clear, do you have any reason to believe
- 6:02Speaker 1: that you have met mister Epstein prior to becoming President
- 6:05Speaker 1: of the United States? Answer? Before I became president, No question.
- 6:09Speaker 1: And you mentioned that your first memory of interacting with
- 6:12Speaker 1: mister Epstein was on your first trip. Which trip specifically? Answer?
- 6:18Speaker 1: I'm not sure which one it was. Which one was
- 6:20Speaker 1: the first? I took all of our parts of five
- 6:23Speaker 1: or four trips to Asia and Africa and one to
- 6:26Speaker 1: North of Europe on mister Epstein's airplane, and once when
- 6:30Speaker 1: I was in Florida. I was offered a ride back
- 6:31Speaker 1: to New York, but I wasn't there having and it
- 6:35Speaker 1: was just coincidental that he was there. I think that
- 6:38Speaker 1: was fairly early in the process. I don't remember exactly,
- 6:41Speaker 1: I just know that I did. I took one flight
- 6:44Speaker 1: back from Florida to New York and all or part
- 6:48Speaker 1: of several others, I think four or five trips to Africa, Asia,
- 6:52Speaker 1: and one to Northern Europe. Question by Jack Emmer. I
- 6:55Speaker 1: want to make sure the record is clear. Is it
- 6:57Speaker 1: your testimony today that you have no independent recollection whatsoever
- 7:01Speaker 1: of the circumstances of when you first met mister Epstein.
- 7:05Speaker 1: David Kendall jumps in objection, asked an answered, you can
- 7:08Speaker 1: answer again, Bill Clinton. Yes, I do have a recollection
- 7:12Speaker 1: of when I remember meeting him before this trip. I
- 7:15Speaker 1: mean on this trip, when I took his plane. Question
- 7:18Speaker 1: mister President, We're going to discuss more specifics later, but
- 7:22Speaker 1: for the record, can you briefly describe the nature and
- 7:25Speaker 1: extent of your relationship with mister Epstein. Question? Well, sometime
- 7:29Speaker 1: after I left the White House, either in late two
- 7:31Speaker 1: thousand and one or early is two thousand and two,
- 7:34Speaker 1: I received a call from Larry Summers, who had been
- 7:37Speaker 1: on my economic team and was later a Secretary of
- 7:40Speaker 1: the Treasurer and was then President of Harbor. And he
- 7:43Speaker 1: said that he was calling because a man named Jeffrey
- 7:46Speaker 1: Epstein who had made a substantial commitment of several million dollars.
- 7:50Speaker 1: I think it was ten, but whatever, it was the
- 7:52Speaker 1: brain research. And he was an information hungry person and
- 7:56Speaker 1: he wanted to spend some time talking to me about
- 7:59Speaker 1: economics and politics. And he said he's got a massive airplane,
- 8:02Speaker 1: and he said he would take you, your staff, your
- 8:05Speaker 1: secret service detail, and anybody else wanting to bring on
- 8:08Speaker 1: the trips that he knew. I was planning to set
- 8:11Speaker 1: up a global network to provide life saving aids medicine
- 8:14Speaker 1: to as many people as possible, as quickly as possible.
- 8:17Speaker 1: And I should back up and say when I left office,
- 8:20Speaker 1: we had done all the preliminary work to set up
- 8:22Speaker 1: the global funds on HTV malaria, but it was not
- 8:26Speaker 1: yet funded. And there were other instruments and institutions who
- 8:29Speaker 1: were later founded, including President Bush Pepfar program, it had
- 8:34Speaker 1: not yet been funded. There were only two hundred thousand
- 8:37Speaker 1: people in the entire developing world who had AIDS medicine,
- 8:40Speaker 1: most of them in Brazil, which had a big drug
- 8:42Speaker 1: operation on its own, and in Thailand, which also had
- 8:46Speaker 1: its own drug population. In Africa, there were like thirty
- 8:49Speaker 1: thousand people or something just next to no people, and
- 8:52Speaker 1: they were done like flies. And I thought we had
- 8:55Speaker 1: found a way to drastically drive the price down, and
- 8:57Speaker 1: that if we could drive the price down, can empower
- 9:00Speaker 1: people to administer the medicine right, which would save a
- 9:03Speaker 1: lot of lives. And I was obsessed with it. And
- 9:05Speaker 1: I was being helped by a man named Ira Magaziner,
- 9:09Speaker 1: who had helped us in the White House, in whom
- 9:11Speaker 1: I had known since we lived as Rhodes scholars together
- 9:14Speaker 1: in the sixties. So anyway, that's why. And when Larry
- 9:18Speaker 1: Summer said, I thought, well, this would be great, and
- 9:21Speaker 1: so we followed up and we took the trips question,
- 9:24Speaker 1: mister President, when did your relationship with mister Epstein end? Answer? Well,
- 9:28Speaker 1: after a year or two, we really picked up ahead
- 9:31Speaker 1: of team with the age program, and a lot of
- 9:33Speaker 1: other people who I note knew better and who really
- 9:36Speaker 1: cared about the work came forward and offered to help
- 9:38Speaker 1: us provide transportation and I thought that mister Epstein was
- 9:42Speaker 1: an interesting man. I didn't think he was really interested
- 9:45Speaker 1: in what I was doing. But as he asked all
- 9:47Speaker 1: these questions, he did ask about economics and politics as
- 9:51Speaker 1: he said he would, and he never asked me anything untoward.
- 9:55Speaker 1: It's just I didn't think. I thought I had done
- 9:57Speaker 1: what I had promised to do, and he had done
- 9:59Speaker 1: what he promised to do. I'd always over the years
- 10:03Speaker 1: these donors trying not to overstand my welcome. I thought
- 10:06Speaker 1: that we'd done enough and then it was time to
- 10:08Speaker 1: start working with other people. When did you first learn
- 10:11Speaker 1: of Jeffrey Epstein's crimes answer? I think in two thousand
- 10:15Speaker 1: and eight when he was prosecuted. There was nothing that
- 10:18Speaker 1: I saw when I was around him that made me
- 10:20Speaker 1: realize he was trafficking women. Question let's talk about Glaine Maxwell.
- 10:25Speaker 1: When was the first time that you met Glane Maxwell. Answer?
- 10:28Speaker 1: I believe I first met her with him when she
- 10:30Speaker 1: was working with him. Question and when did you understand
- 10:33Speaker 1: miss Maxwell? What did you understand her relationship to be
- 10:36Speaker 1: with mister Epstein? Answer? I thought she was his chief
- 10:40Speaker 1: of staff or administrator. Question and you said that the
- 10:44Speaker 1: first time you met miss Maxwell with mister Epstein, is
- 10:47Speaker 1: that after you were president? Answer? Yeah, I don't believe
- 10:51Speaker 1: I met her when I was president. I could have.
- 10:53Speaker 1: I met a lot of people that I don't remember,
- 10:55Speaker 1: but I definitely remember meeting her on that first flight.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Question and you briefly for the record described the nature
- 11:02Speaker 1: and extent of your relationship with miss Maxwell. Answer? Yeah,
- 11:06Speaker 1: it lasted longer and was more extensive than my relationship
- 11:09Speaker 1: with mister Epstein. Because Glenn Maxwell started going with a
- 11:12Speaker 1: man named Ted Waite who had made a lot of
- 11:14Speaker 1: money making the first sort of self designed computers, and
- 11:18Speaker 1: he was a big supporter of mine and the foundation.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Before he started seeing Glenn, we had been friends and
- 11:24Speaker 1: he was interested in particularly in reducing pollution in the oceans.
- 11:28Speaker 1: And so when she started going with him, I would
- 11:30Speaker 1: see her from time to time. Question and when did
- 11:33Speaker 1: your relationship with miss Maxwell end? Answer? I don't think
- 11:37Speaker 1: I've seen her in a decade. It's been a long time.
- 11:39Speaker 1: I don't know exactly when. Question why did your relationship
- 11:43Speaker 1: with miss Maxwell end? Question? Well, at first she moved
- 11:46Speaker 1: to Boston. I think she had a relationship with a
- 11:48Speaker 1: man there, and I think they may have married, and
- 11:51Speaker 1: so she wasn't so much around and then when it
- 11:55Speaker 1: became after twenty nineteen, when it became obviously she was
- 11:58Speaker 1: involved too, to the extent that I did not know about.
- 12:01Speaker 1: That was the end of it. Question, and I want
- 12:04Speaker 1: to make sure the record is clear. You mentioned that
- 12:06Speaker 1: your relationship with Ms Maxwell was more extensive than that
- 12:09Speaker 1: of mister Epstein. Answer yes, it lasted longer. Yes. Question Okay,
- 12:16Speaker 1: do you have any recollection of what year it would
- 12:17Speaker 1: have ended? Answer? No, But when she was with Ted Waite,
- 12:22Speaker 1: she was when we were kicking off CGI. She was
- 12:25Speaker 1: very interested in that and she participated. But I don't remember.
- 12:28Speaker 1: I don't know. It's been ten to twelve years since
- 12:30Speaker 1: I saw her, so I don't remember when the last
- 12:32Speaker 1: time was. All right, folks, we're going to wrap up
- 12:34Speaker 1: the first episode right here, and in the next episode
- 12:37Speaker 1: dealing with the topic, we're going to pick up where
- 12:38Speaker 1: we left off. All the information that goes with this
- 12:41Speaker 1: episode can be found in the description box.
