- 2:55[SPEAKER_05]: So, we said welcome back to the show to start,
- 3:10[SPEAKER_02]: unbelievable and it's hesitant to say given the history obviously that everybody knows about with his with his injuries and obviously how his Saber Saber's career has started but even from that first play on the power play I think the Jets apparently kill was
- 3:30[SPEAKER_02]: particularly week, at least from what I saw.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_02]: I only intently watched the second half of the game.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_02]: But I would say that, even watching the replays of that first goal, he had so much time and space, but he also created it himself by shifting a little bit.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_02]: And even as I'm looking as like just get it to the net and that's exactly what he did.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_02]: He got it to the net.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_02]: Josh Don makes a great play and then Zucker comes in and cleans it up.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_02]: That is the recipe for having a good power play.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_02]: Having someone with
- 4:00[SPEAKER_02]: the patience and the ability on that half wall, obviously, tages on the other side, darlings at the quarterback and they have a zucker and don't in front.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_02]: But if they have those two wing guys, and they're able to maneuver it a little bit to which side gets the puck, Josh Norris could take the Saber's powerplay to the next level, which has been one of the reasons, again, why this team has been struggling offensively.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_02]: And that's just one reason.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously he can finish, I think you saw it in the recent with how good he was, but you saw it again on his first goal was a little bit lucky when I was a just defender, but he got to the front of the net.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_02]: And then the second goal obviously a great play by Dalline and Benson to get the puck to him on a breakaway, but the ability to finish on a breakaway, having the skill and the wear with all to know how
- 4:49[SPEAKER_02]: high percentage of a move going far side and then tucking it back five whole obviously against a backup goalie, but yeah, I mean, he he looked as advertised to what everybody said he could be when that trade was made for Dylan Cousins.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and
- 5:08[SPEAKER_05]: could have come at a better time, right?
- 5:10[SPEAKER_05]: I'm getting back in the lineup just because like you're getting ready for this big six game road trip and a lot of important points are going to be in the line.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, just I mean, every point is important, but hopefully this is a road trip where these guys are getting healthier.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_05]: You know, hopefully I know Kesslering skated on his own today or I'm not sure if he's skated on his own if he's skated with the team, but he was skating today.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_02]: uh... obviously kooleak uh... but i mean i don't think we're going to expect him to be back anytime soon given this at least at least until the new year uh... yeah but yeah i mean if if you were to get cussle ring and kooleak back that would be that would be what they envisioned for the for the lineup
- 6:00[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I mean, and if, listen, to your points, what Norris does for that power play, I mean, it's going to be a world's difference, you know, and it's been very, a very stagnant power play with the exception of a handful of games all season.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, I'm not considered and say that he's going to turn it around entirely, but I mean, his presence in and around that net, like you said, the play he made on is on his
- 6:30[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_05]: No, not a second goal.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_05]: Well, no, the Zucker goal, you got me.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_05]: Can you hear me?
- 6:38[SPEAKER_02]: Can you hear me?
- 6:40[SPEAKER_05]: I can hear you.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_05]: I can hear you.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_05]: Cool.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_05]: A little blurry.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not sure if people in the chat are seeing you as well better than I am, but lost my wife for something.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: So I switched to my hotspot, but I'll try to get it back.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_05]: No problem.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_05]: Anyways.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_05]: No, you know, is ability to, like your, like you said, have patience, you'll work well below the dots.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, two of their first three goals were just getting the pucks that not getting below the blue paint and jamming away and getting the puck by comedy, you know, former Sabre, you know, and they chased them out of the net after the first period.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_05]: But,
- 7:20[SPEAKER_05]: I agree with you, man, just, you know, the calmness he brings to that power play unit.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_05]: And I was kind of surprised that they, and I know you were to that they moved page, kept page on the wing and didn't keep put them at center given the lack of depth on the middle, but it seemed to work tonight.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_05]: We'll see if that continues on.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_05]: You know, we'll see if that continues on because again, given their, their lack of depth down the middle, given their lack of depth on the middle.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_05]: I would find it surprising that they would, as even as good as that line played tonight, I mean, I kind of find it hard to believe that Tage is gonna be on the wing all season long.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think I'm good now, by the way, but um, yeah, I mean,
- 8:18[SPEAKER_02]: It's hard to say, like, yeah, like, I mean, Norse looked great.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, and if Tage is still able to get his chances and get his scoring opportunities, while not taking as much of a load at center, because it's obviously, you don't want to make Josh Norse more likely for injury, but you definitely don't want to make Tage more likely to get hurt.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_02]: Because I would argue that Tage is more important
- 8:48[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, as long as the line is producing and as long as stage is producing for both his own personal interest on making the US Olympic team, which I think is looking pretty good, especially after his hot streak.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_02]: And also for the team, obviously he's your leading point score, he's your leading goal score.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_02]: As long as
- 9:07[SPEAKER_02]: Benson is able to facilitate and be the playmaker that he is and feed Josh Norr's and stage Thompson in a way that makes them both successful.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_02]: I'm fine with page being on the wing.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_02]: I think we just all know that the highest level of his game is at center.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_05]: I agree.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_05]: I can also kind of found it funny that the first game he didn't score a goal at center when we moved there, letting him move him back to the winning immediately, you're just looking for the excuse.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I got the line look good tonight, but again, we've we've seen, I just think this team is better off with the depth down the middle of as Norris.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, maybe Norris is your first mindset or he moved taste your second mindset or whatever, I don't care.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_05]: But I think this team for
- 9:55[SPEAKER_05]: Um, you're much better with those three as your top three center because I just don't think Ryan McLeod is a third or a second line center, at least not yet this career.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think I think it's close.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it's my life.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I think he's close.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_02]: And I think he's handling, uh, more minutes this year in bigger responsibilities relatively well, uh, that's going to knock on my cloud.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I'm just even looking at like the advanced numbers from tonight.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_02]: not a single Sabre's player was outchanced tonight in terms of scoring opportunities.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_02]: Even Jack Quinn who had the lowest, he had 13 chances for while he was on the ice and 12 chances against.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_02]: So that's just a good night all around from the team to have a positive, it's called Corsi 4 percentage.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_02]: It's basically
- 10:41[SPEAKER_02]: how the play is being controlled at any of it.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_02]: It's not even a deep analytic.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_02]: It's just basically the flow of the play and where chances are created.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it continues to be this way, but Sam Wilson and Dallene were pretty dominant once again.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think they were, they must have been as a pair because they basically the exact same ice time.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_02]: But the 21 chances for while they
- 11:07[SPEAKER_02]: like positive percentage.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_02]: And the team as a whole was obviously very good.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_02]: I think a lot of people are saying even compared to that Edmonton game.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, God playing these Western former, formerly great Western Conference teams at home has been good to this Aversus season.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, probably the most complete game.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_02]: Aside from the couple games I was at, while I was home, the Black Hawk's game at home, the 93 win, the Hurricanes game, which we never beat the Hurricanes, and they won 401 in a relatively dominant performance against a really good team.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_02]: And then also that Oela's win, and it turns out obviously the Oela's aren't too great at the moment.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I would say it's one of the better ones of the year.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, the jets are on a long road trip themselves and they're struggling a little bit without halibuck.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_02]: Clearly, their goal-tending is not as good as it usually is.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I mean, I think we're seeing the fruits of the labor of not only discounting, but what they envisioned for the team this off season.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_02]: and if they are able to get Castle Ring back soon, which I think they'll be able to, obviously, that bumps Bryson out of the lineup, which they, I don't think they envisioned him playing significance significant minutes this season anyway.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_02]: That's a pretty formidable group.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_02]: And I mean, if Kulik were to come back, I imagine that would be Oslin that went down, but yeah, it's basically what they envisioned for the roster this season.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_02]: And at their best,
- 12:36[SPEAKER_02]: I do think this team has wild card potential.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_02]: That's a big F, obviously, they need to stay healthy.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, gotta stay healthy, gotta stay consistent.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_02]: They need gold tending like they got tonight.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_02]: I thought you PL as we've seen many times before.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_02]: We saw it in the Black Hawk's game and in the hurricane games while I was home.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_02]: He has that level of that game, hurls stop it.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_02]: No, what I'm what I'm saying, but like really low event, you know, but I'm so like give him some credit.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_02]: He made some good to me.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not saying get it like you don't don't let's not pretend like he's at 35 saves tonight.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_02]: What I'm saying, though, is that like he's still played relatively well.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_05]: He played well.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I'm not going to take it away from him, but like, but like also there's no need to knock it either.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_05]: You know what I'm not knocking it.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not knocking it at all.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_05]: I thought he made he made saves with saves need to be made, but
- 13:23[SPEAKER_05]: Let's not pretend that he went out there and had a 35 save game.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_05]: Let's say I think his game was, I think the result in the way he played was a direct result of how well they played in five man unit in front.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_02]: So I mean, yeah, I mean,
- 13:38[SPEAKER_02]: 23 saves on 24 shots and you're right.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_02]: Like in terms of high danger stuff, the team played well in front of them.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_02]: There were three high danger shots against and he had two saves.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, the Kyle Connor tip directly in front of the net.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_02]: I don't put that on him whatsoever.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_02]: But he also made that save.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_02]: on a like basically a breakaway in front of an uncalconner, which at least remind you of the goal he was when he was at his best, right?
- 14:07[SPEAKER_02]: And even in that hurricane's game that I was at, I was directly behind the net, you sense.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_02]: a level of confidence in him in these games that he plays well, that makes you think that even if it's not with the sabers, this guy could be a quality NHL goalie if you ever get to it.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_05]: Here's the thing.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_05]: We've had this conversation.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_05]: Are we like four times this season?
- 14:30[SPEAKER_05]: where he plays a good game.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_05]: And then he has a stinker.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it's got to let's stop, let's not have this convert, let's table this conversation for after the road trip and see how things work out.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_02]: For sure.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that applies to the entire team though, right?
- 14:45[SPEAKER_05]: No, no, I agree, I agree.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_05]: But when your team, I think the issue is, when your team doesn't play this well as a five man unit, and we're playing okay, but not as well as tonight, can you get the saves that you need from him on a basic basis?
- 15:03[SPEAKER_02]: I would add a push.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, and he has not proven that on a consistent basis, throughout his NHL career at this point.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_02]: And that's a stone-cold fact.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_02]: I think nobody's disputing that.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_02]: But after a hot start from both Alex Lyon and Colton Ellis, I think the group collectively has not been good enough recently.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_02]: And I think they all would say that about themselves.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_05]: And I think that I think that also a big part of that and us as goalies could say this too, is you can't have your goalies going two weeks between starts.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_02]: For sure.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_02]: And of course, like I had a friend.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_02]: I had a friend talking to me about that earlier and who knows whether Alex Lyon's hot start
- 15:42[SPEAKER_02]: was related to being in a new place, then playing well in front of him, or I mean, we saw those games.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, obviously, we still have a lot of really, really, really plain though, too.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_05]: That's a big part of it.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_05]: He knew he was a starter going to this season, given the UPL situation.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_05]: He was prepared, whereas now you're in a three-goli rotation for some reason still.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_05]: Here's the thing, yeah, as a starter, you get the starter's not in practice, but now your backups are splitting the net off the other side.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_05]: You're not eating pots.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_05]: And that's not good for any gold tender.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_05]: Like, now imagine, now imagine your LXLion and your not starting, you're not expected to start.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_05]: Well, guess what?
- 16:27[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe you're starting on the second night of a back to back.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_05]: You know what I mean?
- 16:31[SPEAKER_05]: Like, you're not getting to tonight, but you're getting tomorrow night.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_05]: And your practice is you're getting, you're taking half the pups, half the pups, a backup takes.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_02]: Totally.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_02]: I think that this road trip is going to say a lot about what they ultimately decide to do.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_02]: And if I had to guess, provided they don't find a trade for UPL, which at this point seems unlikely, especially this long, crazy, considering there's plenty of teams that are there need a goal here.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_02]: I know, but like you know the NHL, like it's probably
- 17:01[SPEAKER_02]: I would guess that, I mean, it depends on how they do, obviously.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_02]: It seems like Wendy's really, really riding the hot hand at the moment, based upon whoever started last and had a good game.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_02]: So it's hard to predict.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_02]: But I mean, especially if they're not able to trade UPL and they at least want to have him continue to play, so teams can see him.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_02]: I would have to imagine that colonelist is going to eventually get the shorter
- 17:29[SPEAKER_02]: which makes sense given his relative lack of experience in the NHL of as far in his queries got six six games played right and he's he's shown really well and most of them that flames game aside in the third period of the I think Colton also is only on the goal right now the winning with a winning record for sure yeah not but he also has a three he also has a three thirteen goals against right like that's inflated by that flames game of course
- 17:55[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just saying like what I could guess what is going to happen here.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_02]: I think they do have an interest in continuing to play UPL because they probably are at least having conversations, right?
- 18:07[SPEAKER_02]: Like, they have to be at this point.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_05]: So, I think teams calling it mean there has to be trade conversations around him right now.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I, I think I think Edmonton, I think he even starts a game like he does tonight because they are
- 18:23[SPEAKER_02]: probably even the team like the jets with hell of a buck out for however long he's gonna be I think they could benefit from a guy like you feel.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, yeah, I thought and I actually thought about that too tonight After I'm you like, but he's on such a long contract and like that's what makes the trade hard
- 18:42[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, you know, I mean, like that's why Edmonton makes sense.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_05]: St. Louis makes sense because both their goal is are for good cheques this season.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_05]: So, you know, either are plenty, even Vancouver because that's your dumb clothes in the final year of his deal.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_05]: You have Lincoln in there, like it seems like they're not afraid to have a go one A 1 B situation of Vancouver.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_05]: Like so maybe Vancouver is a suitor, but I think like, yeah, those top three for sure.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_05]: Would you trade in division at this point with a team like Toronto?
- 19:14[SPEAKER_05]: Probably not.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, especially if it's a team that you're ultimately going to, this race in these circumstances is going to come down to April between like probably four or five teams.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't envision any of these teams like pulling away from each other the way these rosters are constructed and these weird injuries all around the NHL a bunch of guys going like one guy today I saw.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_02]: got like burns on his legs from an at home like incident or something like what is going on?
- 19:48[SPEAKER_02]: It's like what did you say?
- 19:49[SPEAKER_02]: There was like a play or I forget who it was.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_02]: He is out for an indefinite amount of time because he had an incident at home.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_02]: where he got like third degree burns on his legs or something from where I forget what it I'll try to find who the player is.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_02]: You saw that you saw the jack he was saying with the yeah and like in like Zach Benson and Yuri Kooley can like it's like final destination in the NHL this year it's insane but yeah I really do believe that
- 20:18[SPEAKER_02]: this race is gonna be within six to eight points between these teams that are, look at the two teams that are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference right now and tell me, well, maybe it doesn't apply to one of them, but tell me that you don't think they're gonna be there at the end of the year.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_02]: The Florida Panthers and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_02]: Like, maybe the Maple Leafs won't be, but the Florida Panthers are definitely gonna figure it out pretty soon.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_05]: I also didn't realize that damn demco did sign an extension in the off.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_05]: I completely forgot about that.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_05]: That was kind of under the radar.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_05]: As I remember, we were talking about in the show about demco.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe you know, before they went and got Alex Lyon being a solution here in Buffalo before he signed that deal.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_05]: But I can't really figure out.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_05]: So I mean, it actually could take the on Vancouver off that list.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_02]: But still, we're back to this upcoming road trip.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously filled off the on Wednesday.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_02]: They seem.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_02]: their goal is to change the goal.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_02]: Well, they've got Erson and what not, but it's not great.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_02]: No, then you want to win a peg.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_02]: Calgary in my opinion doesn't need one.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_02]: They just need a team.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_02]: Admit in Vancouver and Seattle.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_02]: That's the road trip up until Sunday, December 14th, which is about almost two weeks away.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_02]: So gosh, it's hard to say.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_02]: I think
- 21:35[SPEAKER_02]: They might start UPL on Wednesday, given what happened tonight.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_02]: They might start Lyon, he's a former flyer, who knows?
- 21:42[SPEAKER_02]: Like at this point, it's anyone's guess who's going to start and he came for the saver.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_02]: I can't stand it now.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_02]: And there will stay there.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_05]: There's only on that team that would drive me absolutely.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_02]: I will say though, there is only one back to back on that trip.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_02]: And that is a week from tonight in tomorrow, caligering that in that Edmonton.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_02]: So,
- 22:02[SPEAKER_05]: Hard to say, but it's kind of crazy how Devin coolies play in the season two.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I do believe he's he's been good.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_02]: I saw a cool video today.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_02]: He's using this like VR headset before the games.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, the same one that Levi uses.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, in the hallway like to.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, it's shooting situations.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_05]: It's like Levi's like a ambassador for everyone.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_05]: It's called, but I'm pretty sure he's like one of the, maybe coolie is now too, but I'm pretty sure Levi's like one of the ambassadors for that.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_02]: So my goal, or like what I envision this team needing to do for this six game road trip, is right now they're 500.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of people don't think of it as 500, but the NHL views it as a 500 win per set.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_02]: 11, 11, and 4.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_02]: I think they need to come out of this road trip.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_02]: 500 are better.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_02]: for they have to, for them to stay in the race comfortably going into the new year.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_02]: If they somehow drop five of six, even the ones in overtime, or they don't win at least three of these, that's gonna potentially, like some of these teams are gonna start to pull away, especially as they get healthier, like the Panthers.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_02]: So teams like Calgary, you've gotta beat.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_02]: You got to be, I mean, I can't say you have to be Winnipeg, but they're clearly struggling right now.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_02]: The flyers haven't been particularly good, but they have some talent.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_02]: We saw Edmonton, they're not particularly in a good place.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_02]: And then you have Vancouver and Seattle, who in my opinion aren't great teams.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_02]: So, these are winnable games.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_02]: They're obviously not going to win all six.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_02]: This team hasn't given us any reason to believe they could go on an eight game win streak.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_02]: They are getting healthier and the power play looks a little bit better.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_02]: And the goal-tending is generally a little bit better.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_02]: So I think they at least need three of six to stay in this conversation.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_05]: I agree, JJ Patirka must have heard all the smack talk about how Don has more points to hit him in the same amount of games play because he just scored apparently a pretty narrowly goal.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_05]: No, but even you I saw you tweet it, you know, we won the trade.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_05]: I still think.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, that's one that trade.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I do believe that, but I also think.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_02]: Full teams.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, all teams benefited.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to want to see this shop.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_02]: I JJ Peterka.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, apparently it's nasty.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_02]: He went.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, short side.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_02]: The goalie went reverse VH on a long distance shot and he went over his right shoulder.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_05]: Not tonight.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_05]: I want to talk about something.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_05]: I cannot stand.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_02]: Actually, no, he didn't.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_02]: He didn't.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_02]: He just, he just likes night.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_02]: He wanted to work.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_02]: Why?
- 25:05[SPEAKER_02]: and JJ, I just want to talk about it.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_05]: But still, it drives me nuts watching gold tenders just improper, like you, like from far out there in their RV is where you shouldn't be.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_02]: I think it really comes down to coaching in the way the position is coaching these days.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_02]: Because that happens a lot and it's really emphasized to seal the ice or seal your post in those types of situations, especially when the puck is behind the net.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_02]: But when the puck's not behind the net, I've at least adopted a style of recently where I do it's called like the post overlap.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_02]: where you have, let's say it's the right post, you have your right leg on your blocker side.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like on your blocker side, you have your right leg overlapping the post.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_02]: So even like below the goal line to challenge that type of bad angle shot rather than getting down and sealing the post and opening it up above your right shoulder.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_02]: Especially if a guy is like coming down the right side and goes like go behind the net, you challenge a little bit.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_02]: and then you're able to overlap the post a little bit to take away that short angle type shot.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_02]: At least it's been working for me.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_02]: I saw a video on YouTube.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_02]: It was called the overlap and why more goalies should use it.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_05]: So is it one technique?
- 26:18[SPEAKER_05]: Does that also depend on, so you're saying they're coming down on your blocker side?
- 26:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_02]: If you're right handed goalie, I guess it doesn't matter either way.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_05]: Well, if you're a lot of panic catch goalie.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_02]: They're coming down on your blocker side.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_02]: Not like next like your your blade is not on the post, but it's out and then over the post and you're able to challenge and take away that short angle shot rather than.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_05]: Gettin' on that player being a left-handed shot though.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_02]: I think it could be.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, if it's a left-handed shot, you're more likely to die.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_05]: I think right-handed shot, you're probably getting sniped there every night.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you could leave your left-hand.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_02]: You could leave your left-hand open for sure.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think it depends on the angle, obviously.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_02]: But I guess it's just a technique I've been using rather than leaving that area above your right shoulder.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, 100% and like challenging basically every angle, obviously in the NHL guys would be so skilled that they'd go around the net and the other side of the net would be wide open.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_02]: It's obviously different and beer league than it is in the NHL.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_02]: I just think that like there are techniques you can use rather than going down and leaving that area wide open in front on your right shoulder either way.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I back to Paturka.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_02]: He's been great.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think like there's a lot of people that get really salty about former Sabers players when they leave like constantly tracking every single one of their games like there's this one guy who is like on an offensive against Dylan Cousins and there's people that like I'll never understand the Dylan cause like Dylan Cousins cried when he was trey like he didn't know that.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_02]: I don't care what the attitude is.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_02]: I think people can hate Jack, I go personally.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_02]: They can hate Jason Paturka for the rumors of how he went out and how he demanded out and whatnot.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_02]: But you can also look at their performances objectively.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_02]: The guy's been great.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_02]: He's been really good.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_02]: He's been really good in Utah.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_02]: He's been as advertised and he's doing what they wanted, which is score goals and create chances off the rush.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_02]: That is what he does.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't play defense.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't get to the top areas around the earth.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_02]: Like Josh knows.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_02]: But I would say that the savers got what they wanted.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_02]: And the mammoth got what they wanted.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_02]: So it can be great.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_02]: Great.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_02]: It can work out for bullsides.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_05]: Like I'd say for every 10 trades out of Buffalo, like nobody, no hard feelings against Ryan Hart.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_05]: There were no hard feelings against.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_05]: You know, at least I get out, I still don't understand the doing cause and stuff.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_05]: It's really coming from one account.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_05]: It's really as strong as it was.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_05]: And I'm a right call that out and kind of stopped after, because I, I got sick and tired to see none of my timeline, which driving me insane.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_05]: But I mean, I can understand the
- 29:24[SPEAKER_05]: and just how most like a sense of entitlement, like, you know, in that line to be here, even the team that kind of gave him a chance to be here, trade it up in the second round to get him, gave him every opportunity could ever dreamd of in a top line role in his first season.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_05]: So he could get that big contract.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_05]: And then just a society like, hey, I don't want to, I don't want to play here anymore because the team stinks, you know, I understand that.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_05]: I understand the cycle hate, but like, I'd say for the most part, man, I agree with you.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_05]: You could have definitely looked at the talent and just say like, hey, man, like, if you can separate yourself from the attitude away from the rank, like, yeah, man.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_05]: Like, it's such a good idea.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, prayers.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_02]: Jack Michael's a top five player in the league, and he was they effectively tanked an entire season to guarantee the chance to get him, he was the captain of this team for a while.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_02]: He had a really good attitude.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, didn't end the way that anybody wanted to, but.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't know.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_02]: People online like to talk shit for no reason, and it's what it is.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_05]: It tries with knots.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_05]: Here's from Steve Noble, Jack Benson, 11 assists in 13 games.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_05]: How many assists will you have before he actually scores?
- 30:42[SPEAKER_05]: Has there a fortabin ever 50 points or less in five goals, Missy?
- 30:46[SPEAKER_02]: God, it looks like they were trying to get him an opportunity in the third period.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_02]: There was one chance where
- 30:54[SPEAKER_02]: I think it was Don, tried to get it to him on the back door, he was wide open, and I really do believe that even Zach Benson, not known for his goalscoring would have scored on this wide open net, but he got reflected unfortunately, but he'll score, he's gonna score soon.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_02]: I bet he scores on this road trip.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_02]: I'll say that.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_05]: If you hope so, man, I'd like to see it finally for it because I feel like you know does Wendy talked about that a lot in the off season like he wanted to see Benson they have the big improvements that not big if the improvements he needed to see it is just finishing ability and I mean I will say though on a line.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_02]: that he's on with Josh Norris and Paige Thompson.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_02]: If he has 11, if he continues on an 11 assists in 13 games pace, it's pretty good.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_02]: I'm seeing, okay, yeah, yeah, he's got 11 assists in 13 games.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_02]: I don't need him to score goals.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_02]: He can he can be a pest.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_02]: He can create turnovers and feed those guys.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_02]: Get five gold.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_02]: There's goals this year.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_02]: I don't care.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_02]: If he has five, five goals and 50 assists and 60 games, that's a great year from Zach Benton.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_05]: No doubt.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_05]: I do want to give a shout out to your savor wagon 21 new year front of mine sent me to this post game.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_05]: And I absolutely love it.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_05]: Great job boys.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_05]: It's like sitting around with somebody's talking hockey, no pretentiousness, no filter.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_05]: You guys are one of us.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_05]: Appreciate that.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_05]: But always love to get a shout out to new people we see in the chat and I definitely appreciate the compliment.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_05]: So,
- 32:30[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, you know, much love there.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_05]: Um, now going back to this game, um, you know, we talked about Josh Norris, talked about, uh, we talked about Josh down a little bit.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, Tage Thompson, um, he had a point tonight defensively.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, so I mean, so I mean the chat said it nice.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_05]: I noticed that too.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_05]: I really got, we see we really just need to see Rastos dialing and start getting going.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_05]: Because if you really want to start taking off, that guy needs to start getting going offensively, because once he does, I think he really think that.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah, this team will be at a completely different level.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_02]: Kind of how I mentioned earlier, though, like, I think tonight is a pretty good sign.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_02]: 21 chances for the team while he was on the ice at five on five, 13 chances against.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_02]: Like that's, I think,
- 33:30[SPEAKER_02]: typical of a Rasmus stalling style game, right?
- 33:34[SPEAKER_02]: Like completely dominating the flow of the play at both ends of the ice with his physicality and mobility in the defensive end and obviously his world-class skill in the offensive end.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, not the start to the season anybody envisioned for him, exciting waiting circumstances to the end figure with his fiance.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_02]: And I think
- 34:00[SPEAKER_02]: He needed to go home.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_02]: She she might have had another procedure or just even to just check in to make sure she was all right But now that he's back, I do see parts of his game that are similar to what we saw
- 34:13[SPEAKER_02]: with how dominant he was last season.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_02]: And as he continues to be more comfortable and everything else is better at home, I do believe he's gonna get to that top five defense in the league level that we all know he can be.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_02]: And that is the best news possible for the direction of this team.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_02]: Because there's not too many world-class talents even around the NHL, right?
- 34:35[SPEAKER_02]: Like if you have a top five player in his position almost subjectively on your team,
- 34:41[SPEAKER_02]: that should give you a leg up any night no matter who you're playing and when he's on the ice he controls play at both ends so yeah i'm i'm cautiously optimistic that before the end of the month we're going to see the best version of of twenty six all right i hope so with our own power man i don't think he's had a point is last eleven or twelve games
- 35:02[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that's a guy who honestly got paid for his ability to produce offensively, we all know how much, you know, how much of a whipping boy he's become in Buffalo, especially this year with the lack of
- 35:15[SPEAKER_05]: With the, with the, with the exception of a very small handful of games a season.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_05]: I, I remember I absolutely lost my fucking mind in the badpads per game.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_05]: Just watching him play the ol' way with his stick in front of the nut.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_05]: Like literally, yeah, I don't think you were on that post game, but like literally, watch the, whatever it was, come, come into frame, watch them the whole way.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_05]: And then just want to do one of these and watch them, co-pie, it was like, like watching a bullfighter and
- 35:45[SPEAKER_05]: You know, he doesn't do himself any favors when he isn't producing offensively either and I know that that's hurt.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_05]: I mean that that is why us as fans get on him so much and he's pronger.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_05]: I tagged him in a post.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_05]: I said, you know, it was a hit by by by I kind of set it up for this to you know, when we tweeted out the clip of Matthias Stamels is hitting front, just clearing a guy out of front of that.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_05]: You know, clear in the front of us, not so as a goal, so as goal, you can see it, see the play and I said, is that is that Matias Samlson or Chris pronger and I tagged him and he goes, oh, that's pronger ask and I followed up with so what do you think of Owen power, because I think fans would give him a lot less flack if you added a little bit of this type of bike to his game of Chris pronger responded to 180 characters isn't enough to talk about Owen power.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_05]: And but he said it in like a negative context.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_05]: So I don't know.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_05]: And like I said, like the things that Owen power doesn't do defensively.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_05]: It's not like things that Pronger used to do, but like just the little things that he just consistently doesn't do defensively unaware, but I mean, I don't kind of long
- 37:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_02]: No, you definitely want more.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_02]: I think more power play time would would help that a lot in the the Saber's second unit being It all relevant whatsoever.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_02]: Even now it's tucked getting back on that unit.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think we'll help.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_02]: that group a little bit more.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that'll help his output a little bit more.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I think we, I've been pretty transparent about this conversation.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not as hard on him as some people are because I know and realize.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_02]: the time that it takes for defenseman of his frame and his play style to get to the point defensively that everybody will be happy with.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_02]: I'll say that yes, obviously he can be better in front of his nut and of course he could be a little bit more physical, but I do think that he's taken strides.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously they're the plays like in the Pittsburgh game the other night, you can point back to and be like it's just flat out not good enough and you can say the same thing for a lot of players,
- 38:06[SPEAKER_02]: He's better now, I do believe than he was in his rookie year, at least defensively.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_02]: And he's getting to a point where there is a tiny bit more physicality.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_02]: We've seen it points this year, getting into scrims.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_02]: And we've also seen it points this year, where he's just stood there.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_02]: He's not a perfect strike tonight when he stood there.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and yeah, he was in the area, but he certainly wasn't doing anything.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_02]: Right, but we've also we've also given him credit when he has gotten into a scrum and he has pushed guys away.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_02]: So, yes, he's six, but six.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_02]: So, he shouldn't have to force to get himself involved with these things.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, no, no, obviously not what I'm saying is that he's inherently going to be polarizing because of his draft status and his contract.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_02]: I've always mentioned the age.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_02]: He just, well, I'm going to say this with a caveat.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_02]: He turned 23 last week, and I think this is the age where Dallene's game got taken to an next level.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_02]: I do believe that.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_05]: I was talking about here's the thing.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_05]: No, people love to make that comparison.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_05]: We never complained about these certain things.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_05]: He's pretending with Dallene, though.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, I, like, I was like, there was no, there was no one hit checks left and right.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_05]: He was playing hard, no one's in front of his own net.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_05]: We know there wasn't anything about these particular things.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_02]: What's the same complaint, but he was not necessarily the best in his own end, defensively in the first three years of his career in my wrong.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_05]: No, you're not wrong, but like the things that the things that we complained about, like, darling, like, we'll go back to that Pittsburgh play is darling, letting him walk by him like that in his fourth year.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_05]: No.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_05]: No, he's putting a stick on him.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_05]: He's trying to body him up.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_05]: Like, things we complain about Dolly, where we're going out of his way to make a hit instead of being, you know, maybe playing the puck.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_05]: Things like that, or the things we complained about with Dolly, you know, being in the wrong spot at a certain time.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_05]: The things we complain about, oh, and power, are things you fucking learn in the house league.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_05]: They look like like it's not hard to just take your stick and lift the guy stick up in front of the net how many times have I Screamed into this microphone because he stands next to a guy in front of the net and doesn't touch him and then just proceeds to watch him score on his gold tender
- 40:27[SPEAKER_05]: it's not it's not it's not something that should still be happening in year four in the NHL.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_05]: It's not because watching guys that are 5 foot 10 or 5 foot 11 or 6 guys were a half a foot fucking smaller than you completely own you in front of the net.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_02]: Those are things that you learn or can be taught girls like you're I mean well no no but like I think this is that's where I'll
- 40:56[SPEAKER_02]: The no no no no no I'm with you like that play was a graciously bad like I'm not disagreeing with you there, but the
- 41:06[SPEAKER_02]: Do you not think, I mean, who knows, with Marty Wilford?
- 41:11[SPEAKER_02]: Well, he's still the defensive coach of this team.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_02]: But do you not think that that is a coaching point?
- 41:18[SPEAKER_02]: When they go back and watch the film after the game, or do you not think that he looks at that play and at least acknowledged, I know it's happened to go to Mount Theros his career hasn't happened as much this year and I think everybody can say that.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_02]: I think he himself as a both a hockey player and a human being can look at a play like that and be like, this is how I can get better.
- 41:42[SPEAKER_02]: This is where I can correct.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_02]: Why is he doing it?
- 41:45[SPEAKER_02]: But no, but this is what I'm saying.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_02]: Like you're pointing out that play and you're using it as a lightning rod.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_02]: But that has not happened consistently this year.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_02]: It hasn't.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's happened more than a handful of times.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, of course it happened.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_02]: And what I'm proud of, but what I'm telling you is that, like, you're getting a half million dollars a year, it shouldn't.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you, but I'm saying that his defensive awareness and responsibility and his toughness in front of his own nut is better this year than it was in the first three years of his career.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_02]: It is.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_02]: So, I mean, you, I think that there's the lightning rod
- 42:22[SPEAKER_02]: But I do believe he's developing as a player.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_02]: And it is what it is at this point.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_02]: People are going to have the opinion, and it's going to take a lot for him to change the tide.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_02]: And that goes for UPL as well.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_02]: There's going to be polarizing players on this team because of their draft status and because of their contracts.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_02]: But it doesn't mean these guys are bad players that need to be shipped out of town immediately.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_02]: they are coachable things and they can develop and get better.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_05]: I think I completely disagree with you on things certain things being coachable because, you know, you know, I don't not like do not like Marty Wilford as a coach.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_05]: I think he's the fact that these things still happen with him and you're for our inexcusable and that could be point to ready to marry Wilford, but I will go back to it again as a guy who is played hockey as an entire life.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_05]: These are things that you just do.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_05]: You just do.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_05]: Like, I understand that when you played at Michigan, you, you guys possessed a block for 75% of the game.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_05]: You were on a powerhouse and it was probably criminal that you didn't win in national championship.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_05]: But to get to this level,
- 43:31[SPEAKER_05]: And consistently in year four still have the same conversations or the same problem and I just thought I'm here, the problems we saw with talent again, and I was sitting or trying to kind of think of like thinking back that long ago, but like yeah, turning pucks or bad play in the neutral zone, but the physical side of the game, it's just not hard to be.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_05]: Pick up a stick and lean into a guy when you're a half of a foot taller than that's what those are things you learn.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_05]: You just do it this level.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_05]: You've gotten to this level on your skill, but yeah, based a lot, most purely on your skill.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_05]: But at six foot six, these are things you just do, you just do it.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_05]: You just do it.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_05]: You can't be taught.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_05]: You can't be taught at 24 years old or 23 years old and you're four in the lead.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_05]: When you're standing next to somebody in front of your gold tender to lift a stick and lean into them.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_05]: You just do it and if you're not going to do it in your four, the criticism is...
- 44:32[SPEAKER_05]: very justified.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_05]: And every fan, like myself, who continues to criticize him, like how much longer are we as fans going to sit here and watch this guy do this and eat a half million dollars a year.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_05]: He's got seven fucking points, seven point he has nothing offensively right now.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I don't, but that's again, like point output isn't necessarily representative of nothing offensively.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_02]: Like he's still he is creating chances he's just not getting points.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_02]: Like the underlying offensive numbers show that, yes, like.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_02]: he's not necessarily getting the point total that he's at in the past, but he is still relatively controlling play offensively.
- 45:15[SPEAKER_02]: So, you gotta look at the whole picture.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, there are plays that can be better.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_02]: The Pittsburgh play is one of them, and there's been a few others throughout the season, but we can aside from Sam Wilson, and I know he has a heightened responsibility because of the number one overall and the contract,
- 45:36[SPEAKER_02]: People don't say the same thing about Bowen Byerman.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_02]: He's been worse.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_05]: So I just, Bull Farmer makes less than half the contract.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, no, I said that right before this.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_02]: I don't, I understand that that is why people are so frustrated.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_02]: But,
- 45:52[SPEAKER_05]: I think that he's blown by him also contributes offensively.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_02]: I also like let's let and let's I think it's kind of pointless because he's not going to get traded.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_02]: So yes, you can get frustrated, but he is 23 years old and he's still developing.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_02]: He is, right?
- 46:08[SPEAKER_02]: Do you not do not agree that like that is like a possible scenario that he could still be developing as a player?
- 46:15[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know, man, I just don't think that the things that we can plan about are things that you just learn to do a year or four at the same age.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_02]: I personally believe that if he watches the film, if he watches the film with that exact plan, Pittsburgh.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_02]: and undoubtedly he did.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_02]: Do you not believe him as an athlete with the skills of a number one overall pick?
- 46:37[SPEAKER_02]: And as you say, six foot six, however many pounds, do you not believe he's a, he's a skill play.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_05]: These are IQ plays, though.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_05]: No, no, no, no, you have to do it.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_05]: And being aware and understand that, yeah, it's my job to pick up this guy, lift this stick and move him out of the way.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_02]: Or at this point, but do you not believe after watching that play on film?
- 46:57[SPEAKER_02]: Do you not believe after watching that play on film?
- 47:00[SPEAKER_05]: He could look at that and he just doesn't have a film He's seen himself do that on film and still do it.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_02]: I mean That is a different discussion.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just saying that like I think we I think we as a like you didn't disagree He's better in front of his nut this year and even last year than he was the first two years of his career like It was bad to begin with it was like legitimately whole still bad.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_02]: It's it's I mean It's it's still bad.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_02]: It's not as bad as people say
- 47:28[SPEAKER_02]: legitimately.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_02]: So, yeah.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_02]: And I get the lightning rod nature of it.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_02]: I really do.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_02]: But I think there needs to be a tiny, tiny bit of grace when it comes to certain things related to him.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_02]: I am trying to approach it from a nuanced level in the sense that, yeah, it's not good enough.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_02]: you know like there's there's a way to have these conversations and the way to approach this subject without like
- 48:02[SPEAKER_02]: making this guy a pariah.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_02]: Like he's not the worst hockey player in the world, and that's what people act like he is.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_02]: And Matthew Shafer, that's a good example.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_02]: He's been fucking incredible offensively this year, but also like he's not a perfect player either.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_02]: Like he has his defensive shortcomings.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_02]: He also has his offensive shortcomings.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_02]: Like there's gonna be eyeballs on you with this level of pedigree.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_02]: But I do believe that Owen Powers probably the third best defenseman on our team still.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_02]: So.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_02]: Defenseman, like defense, your defenseman.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Samuson's been unbelievable this year.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_02]: He's been very good, like without a doubt.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_02]: He's been Samuson's been one of the best defensemen in the league this year.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, I agree with that.
- 48:50[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to do that.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_02]: And I think 100% so currently I would I would go Dalline and Tamelson and then I would put powers number three.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_05]: I would because I don't think timid has been fine, but I don't think he's not I personally if I if last minute the game and I'm defending a one goal lead.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not having a one power out there.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_05]: I haven't counter timid's out there.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, like you see you didn't disagree with me, but I'll say that like that's not going to happen anyway, though, because you're going to have Tamelson and Dalline.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_05]: I'm just stating, but if you're gonna tell me that he's been there third by the fundsman in that situation.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_02]: All things can happen.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_02]: I'm saying, all things considered this season.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_02]: Overall, he's been the third best defense man on the team.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_05]: I disagree, but we can move on, but like what is here me out here, I see that I see us like I want him to get better because I agree with you, he's not going to get traded because there's this love like, you know, it was talked about another podcast today, is earlier today that it internally, there is this when it comes to Owen power, like,
- 50:00[SPEAKER_05]: there is almost this tendency to talk negatively about him in front of guys like Kevin Ems and Jerry Fordon because you know of how much they like him and how much you know he was their guy the first overall pick and now you also start to see things kind of come out through the cracks that you know that are being leaked from other teams that they didn't even have a one power as the number two prospects on their draft boards that year.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_02]: Because just back to like, just the team real quick.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_02]: Like, what, obviously, Timmons has been fine defensively.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_02]: He's had a few games that have been really, really bad, but I'm not talking points here because points in plus minus aren't necessarily always indicative of how they're going to either.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no, but like, what an honor and a crunch situation.
- 50:44[SPEAKER_02]: It's not a one-power.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_02]: I'm talking all around players this season in all areas of the ice.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_02]: What is Connor Timmons contributed offensively?
- 50:55[SPEAKER_05]: I'm sorry.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_05]: You beat that.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_05]: You broke up for me.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_02]: I'm saying, in all areas of the ice, Timons has been fine defensively.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_02]: He's he's been okay.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't necessarily even say that.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_02]: He's been necessarily.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_05]: And actually, I actually, I put Custler ring, even though he's not playing, I put him over power right now, too.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_05]: But like, he's been signed up for one powers, the fourth best defense of them.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_02]: But he hasn't been.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_02]: So we can't even have that conversation.
- 51:18[SPEAKER_05]: He even said even saying that.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_02]: But even in the game, even in the game's Custler ring played, he didn't perform well.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_02]: So I just, I don't know, it's hard to gain to two to three.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_02]: No, but like he didn't, like he didn't, like he didn't, he did not perform well in those games.
- 51:32[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm just, this is, I'm looking at, I don't remember complaining about Kesslering after.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_02]: I saw, in the games that he played, I, I,
- 51:40[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think like he didn't necessarily make that much of an impact because he was coming off injury and didn't get that much ice time.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_02]: But it's been, it's been a tough go for him.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_02]: So I, yeah, like at his ceiling, he probably could be the third best defenseman, but like we can't even have that conversation at this point, it's hypothetical.
- 51:54[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just saying that all around, offensively, defensively, neutral zone, special teams, everything.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_02]: This season, I believe, power's been the third best defense of anonymity.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, you can say in a crunch situation defensively, you're going to have timins in there, and that's fine.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_02]: I just, like, yeah, people can complain as much as they want, but I do believe that he's had an average season so far.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_02]: And he can be better, and he needs to be better, given his pedigree and contract.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_02]: And I think we can all agree on that.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_02]: So it kind of is what it is at this point.
- 52:29[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, if I'm going to be a great, I mean, I'm probably angry at Kevin Adams for signing an unproven player for that much of that long term of a deal at that early in his career.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, I mean, even though I didn't get on a bridge deal for sure.
- 52:44[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, look what they did with Samelson though, people were pissed about that contract and it turns out like the only mates, well, you was only making like what three and a half
- 52:52[SPEAKER_05]: 4 million a year.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's four and a half now, but yeah, still though, like people saw that contract.
- 52:59[SPEAKER_02]: I think it was only after like 35 games and every like I remember one leafs account seeing that contract and like
- 53:07[SPEAKER_02]: making it as one of like the worst contracts handed out in NHL history.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_05]: Well, it was for a while just because of the year.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_05]: No, I didn't want not in the project.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_02]: But you can't I just saying like you can't like say a contract is bad until the player plays the contract, right?
- 53:22[SPEAKER_02]: Like you have to see how they develop and how they get through the course of the deal.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_02]: And yes, at this current moment, power is not playing to his AAV.
- 53:33[SPEAKER_02]: but he's also in the, I think the second year of the deal, and he just turned 23 years old.
- 53:40[SPEAKER_02]: So I think there's room there.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_05]: And yeah, like I said, I want, I want him to turn it around.
- 53:46[SPEAKER_05]: Like I just as somebody who, again, I've played it.
- 53:50[SPEAKER_05]: I played junior college.
- 53:53[SPEAKER_05]: That's where I maxed out and hung up my skates and decided to make a career at a beer league.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_05]: But like,
- 53:59[SPEAKER_05]: The things that he falls short on are things that aren't necessarily, you, again, I'll keep saying this, so I'll beat this dead horse that you did your taught you just do.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_05]: You either want to do it or you don't want to do it and he doesn't do it consistently, so just to move on from that subject because I'll, I.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_05]: You know, we're getting out close to an hour here.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_05]: Before we get to our final thoughts, I want to give it a shout out to our sponsors at Fatty Beer Company.

- 55:12[SPEAKER_05]: Thank you again to our sponsors of Fetty Beer and Extreme Discount mattress hurls.
- 55:16[SPEAKER_05]: Let's get out of here with our final thoughts.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_05]: We've talked a lot here about, obviously, very long one to just now go back and forth about a one-power.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_05]: Obviously, return to Josh Norris, the play of Josh.
- 55:29[SPEAKER_05]: Don't compare to Patrica, any other final thoughts that we have interviewed is any final thoughts that we have discussed or we already haven't discussed.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_05]: You're muted, bud, I can't hear you.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_02]: There we are.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_02]: Going back to kind of what we discussed earlier about this road trip, like the season has been played in sectioned streaks.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, you start off slow, they win four or five, and then they lose eight of nine.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_02]: And then you win four or five, and then you lose two and a row, and now they've won two and a row again.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_02]: This team is not one, three in a row, the entire season.
- 56:12[SPEAKER_02]: You go on the road against Philadelphia who I'm just gonna check the standings really quick just to confirm, because I haven't really followed them at all this season.
- 56:21[SPEAKER_02]: They are currently in that second wild card spot.
- 56:25[SPEAKER_02]: If you wanna prove you're a serious team, they at least need to play well on Wednesday.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_02]: To prove to this fan base and to prove to not only
- 56:38[SPEAKER_02]: but everyone around the league that they are a serious hockey team by not laying an egg on Wednesday.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_02]: Because after these two game one streaks, they've always laid an egg and very often on the road they've laid a egg two six and two this season.
- 56:53[SPEAKER_02]: So I would love to see at least a point on Wednesday if they're able to get a point,
- 56:58[SPEAKER_02]: I would consider that to be not necessarily an outright success, but that's at least something to work with to start this road trip.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_02]: And then you go into the Western Canada section and you got to try to get two or three of those five games.
- 57:14[SPEAKER_02]: Because if you're not 500 coming out of the road trip, which is on Sunday December 14th, coming back home against Philadelphia on the 18th,
- 57:22[SPEAKER_02]: They're 11, 11, and 4, they're 500 right now.
- 57:25[SPEAKER_02]: You got to be 500 on Sunday, December 14th, after that game at Seattle, where they have struggled in the short history in Seattle.
- 57:33[SPEAKER_02]: But I think you obviously, it's a six game road trip.
- 57:36[SPEAKER_02]: You can look at it in that small stretch, but you got to look at Wednesday as the most important game of the season this far.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_02]: And for more reasons than one,
- 57:46[SPEAKER_02]: whether that's individually for for a guy like Owen Power or UPL if he's back in that.
- 57:52[SPEAKER_02]: But also with this new iteration with Josh Norris back in the lineup and everybody else coming back, Zach Benson, Jason Zucker maybe even Kesselring pretty soon by the weekend maybe.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_02]: This team at its best can take it to a team like Winnipeg like they did tonight.
- 58:10[SPEAKER_02]: They just need to prove that it can add a consistent level so that that starts Wednesday for me.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I kind of agree with you more.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_05]: One thing I did do at two quick final thoughts for me, not to deflect away from me.
- 58:23[SPEAKER_05]: You just said because again, I agree with all that I have you been were you have you been on with us at all since you what while you were home.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 58:32[SPEAKER_02]: No, I just yeah, I went to two of the games while I was home and then I watched one at home and then yeah, I've just been all over the place really busy but now.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_05]: So I want to bring it up because as you I guys all know I've away herals here when a little viral Oh, he was on well, I should have I tried to pack my beer saver in my luggage, but it was too big.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_02]: I also was afraid they might think it was a weapon So I decided not to bring it on a plane across the country, but I'll be back.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_02]: I guess I could get a chat, but I'm gonna be back in two weeks.
- 59:07[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm gonna
- 59:10[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they're going to get a chip or pack it in my my hockey bag on the way home because I'm bringing my equipment back in in a few weeks and might look worse if you would try and hide a hockey bag.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I, but like, there's already like blades in a hockey bag, right?
- 59:23[SPEAKER_02]: Like if they have a, if there's a plastic sword in there, then, you know, what's the, you know, what's the, you know, that the other reason for you to go viral, though, you know,
- 59:39[SPEAKER_02]: But, you have to see what I'm doing here.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_02]: The one thing I regret on this, and my buddy, that's a good trend now, who's with me in the video.
- 59:50[SPEAKER_02]: I wish I drank more of the, the saver I do in the video.
- 59:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, in the video, I wish that I at least took down half of it.
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_02]: I will say I got in that, in that one, which was the first pour.
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_02]: I got the Labat Blue and Blondale.
- 1:00:07[SPEAKER_02]: Which is for for beer drinkers are out there shout out fatty beer shout out everyone else that serves beer on the city.
- 1:00:14[SPEAKER_02]: It's kind of like a blue moon almost or like even like an aligash white and it's a bit heavier.
- 1:00:22[SPEAKER_02]: So as I took that initial chug It was harder than I envisioned especially compared to like a normal bat or a blue light.
- 1:00:32[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, so not necessarily the best look.
- 1:00:34[SPEAKER_02]: I did better than my, my buddy Max, but he was, he was blocked by my sword.
- 1:00:39[SPEAKER_02]: The physics of crossing beer swords and also chugging simultaneously is not something that you can handle easily for anyone else who was trying not there.
- 1:00:47[SPEAKER_02]: Based upon the video that we've seen if you're able to, and position the swords, you could probably figure it out, but it's not the easiest thing in the world.
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_02]: So that's one of my regrets, but other than that, it was pretty funny.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_02]: for like two hours and then I was over at Bally who after the game and my buddy texted me he was just like if you checked your phone in a little bit the the savers responded to you and I was like oh god what could this be for
- 1:01:14[SPEAKER_02]: And then it turned into what it turned into.
- 1:01:16[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, it was a lot of fun, especially on Reddit.
- 1:01:20[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of people sent me it on like Reddit message boards.
- 1:01:24[SPEAKER_02]: It was like the top post on our slash just guys being dudes, which I thought was funny.
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_02]: It was also on our hockey, which I thought was pretty cool.
- 1:01:34[SPEAKER_02]: And there were a lot of really funny comments.
- 1:01:36[SPEAKER_02]: My favorite one from today, I was on there today, just catching up.
- 1:01:39[SPEAKER_02]: One guy thought that I was the Connor Hurley that the Sabers drafted in 2012, someone was just like, oh yeah, he's a former Saber too.
- 1:01:49[SPEAKER_02]: That is not the same color.
- 1:01:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:01:54[SPEAKER_02]: Unfortunately, I was not a Sabers drafty, but yeah, it was a great time being home and that and the butter dish and the two ones were definitely highlight.
- 1:02:03[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I will be honest with you, too.
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_05]: My only first talk to each other about you joining the show.
- 1:02:11[SPEAKER_05]: I did for a moment.
- 1:02:12[SPEAKER_05]: Did you or that scene counter early, too?
- 1:02:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no, I mean, what do we do?
- 1:02:18[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not a left wing from Minnesota.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a who played it Minnesota.
- 1:02:23[SPEAKER_02]: No, he played another game.
- 1:02:24[SPEAKER_02]: I am a goalie from Buffalo who played club at Syracuse.
- 1:02:28[SPEAKER_02]: So a little bit different.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_05]: Um, yeah, but no, super, super pumped for you.
- 1:02:34[SPEAKER_05]: You got the butter dish.
- 1:02:35[SPEAKER_02]: You got your viral moment.
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_02]: Which was not easy to get, by the way.
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_02]: I had a wedding in Toronto in between that, the beer saver game had to drive a wake up at 9 a.m. after a wedding we were out until two in the morning.
- 1:02:51[SPEAKER_02]: woke up at 9 a.m. drove two hours from Toronto back home.
- 1:02:56[SPEAKER_02]: Got dropped off at the arena.
- 1:03:00[SPEAKER_02]: And I had to get a voucher for my friend of a friend who knew somebody with the savers.
- 1:03:07[SPEAKER_02]: They were going like hotcakes.
- 1:03:09[SPEAKER_02]: Like people lined up allegedly an hour and a half before the game to get this butter dish.
- 1:03:14[SPEAKER_02]: And I was only able to get one because I knew someone who knew someone who knew someone with the team.
- 1:03:20[SPEAKER_02]: So these inner arena promotions they're doing.
- 1:03:24[SPEAKER_02]: I've said before that the Sabre Social Media team does a really good job, the admins online obviously get a lot of hate during losses, which I think people should stop.
- 1:03:33[SPEAKER_02]: Be nice to the admins.
- 1:03:35[SPEAKER_02]: But the Sabre's production team does a great job.
- 1:03:38[SPEAKER_02]: And I really do believe they're marketing and promotion teams kind of struck gold with this beer Sabre thing and also cool things like the butter dish.
- 1:03:46[SPEAKER_02]: And we don't speak of the gravy boat last season, but even the gravy boat was kind of cool.
- 1:03:50[SPEAKER_02]: I thought I didn't even know.
- 1:03:53[SPEAKER_02]: I brought the butter dish back.
- 1:03:54[SPEAKER_02]: We used it for a holiday party this past week, this past weekend.
- 1:03:58[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, it's something I'm gonna have for the rest of my life.
- 1:04:02[SPEAKER_05]: I love it.
- 1:04:03[SPEAKER_05]: I love it.
- 1:04:03[SPEAKER_05]: And the last thing we'll talk about and then we'll get out of here.
- 1:04:07[SPEAKER_05]: Because again, you haven't been out with us is this right here.
- 1:04:12[SPEAKER_05]: See the pot comes up waiting for it.
- 1:04:15[SPEAKER_05]: This little, this little gem right here from Paving the streets.
- 1:04:19[SPEAKER_05]: I actually know the person who posted this, I won't say their name.
- 1:04:24[SPEAKER_05]: And they did admit they did this for clicks because they knew that it would get engagement and probably over a million impressions in which it did.
- 1:04:30[SPEAKER_02]: Wow, 2.3 million impressions 2.3 million.
- 1:04:36[SPEAKER_05]: That's just views.
- 1:04:37[SPEAKER_05]: I imagine you can probably in terms of impressions.
- 1:04:40[SPEAKER_02]: I will say I love that it got ratio.
- 1:04:45[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I'm really, really, so when someone says it got ratio, that means it has more comments than it does retweets or likes.
- 1:04:56[SPEAKER_02]: So he got ratio, but he knew what he was doing 100%.
- 1:05:03[SPEAKER_02]: I have thoughts on this.
- 1:05:07[SPEAKER_02]: I think it obviously is.
- 1:05:14[SPEAKER_02]: not surprising that it got the response that it did, because it is from both sides, right?
- 1:05:19[SPEAKER_02]: Because it is Eucopacoluginan.
- 1:05:22[SPEAKER_02]: He's an inconsistent player coming off a loss in Pittsburgh where he didn't play particularly well.
- 1:05:27[SPEAKER_02]: And him being out that night would suggest to some people a level of care that isn't representative of a guy that truly cared about.
- 1:05:43[SPEAKER_02]: And then the other side, I think the correct side here is, hey, he's 25 years old.
- 1:05:50[SPEAKER_02]: He lives in the area.
- 1:05:50[SPEAKER_02]: I actually know well that he lives in the area because he frequents a deli of a friend of mine, Zio's deli on Elmwood, he goes in there often in order if anybody's in the area, please try it.
- 1:06:04[SPEAKER_02]: Some of the best sandwiches in Buffalo.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_02]: Frequence businesses in that area often because he's over there.
- 1:06:11[SPEAKER_02]: Which I believe is really cool because I think it's cool that he lives in the city.
- 1:06:15[SPEAKER_02]: He's a young guy.
- 1:06:15[SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't live out in Clarence.
- 1:06:17[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's cool that he lives in the animal village.
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_02]: Personally, that's beside the point.
- 1:06:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously a tough game.
- 1:06:25[SPEAKER_02]: He isn't asking to be filmed.
- 1:06:28[SPEAKER_02]: He probably went there.
- 1:06:29[SPEAKER_05]: We were part about it for sure.
- 1:06:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:06:32[SPEAKER_02]: He's probably there just trying to mind his own business with his girlfriend or friends or whatever.
- 1:06:38[SPEAKER_02]: He's not doing anything wrong like he's like no this this doesn't even say whether he was like drinking a lot, drinking it all,
- 1:06:48[SPEAKER_02]: doing anything like out of the ordinary of like what a 25 year old would do, like of course their professional athletes and they have a spotlight on them, but he's allowed to decompress.
- 1:06:59[SPEAKER_02]: And I personally think that's a good that he didn't go home and wallow in his sorrow to the bad game that he's able to go and maybe he did have a drink.
- 1:07:07[SPEAKER_02]: He's from Finland.
- 1:07:08[SPEAKER_02]: He probably had a couple, but I think that's good.
- 1:07:11[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes when I have a bad game or when I had a bad
- 1:07:18[SPEAKER_02]: understand why they posted this.
- 1:07:20[SPEAKER_02]: If I saw him at 40 thieves that night, I wouldn't have.
- 1:07:23[SPEAKER_02]: I would have maybe texted you guys or texted my friends that he was there.
- 1:07:29[SPEAKER_02]: But I think it is what it is at this point.
- 1:07:32[SPEAKER_05]: The people that are really, you know, your friends.
- 1:07:35[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, I'm saying I would have texted you.
- 1:07:37[SPEAKER_05]: No, you made it separate.
- 1:07:39[SPEAKER_05]: You guys and then your friends, were you not your friends?
- 1:07:41[SPEAKER_02]: Guys, friends, boys, fellas, whatever.
- 1:07:48[SPEAKER_02]: The people that are actually upset about this, kick rocks.
- 1:07:52[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, listen, I personally, because I was tagged, I was randomly tagged in one of these, and I guess probably because I know the guy who posted it.
- 1:08:01[SPEAKER_05]: But like, I just think it's funny as always for these.
- 1:08:07[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, yeah, for these.
- 1:08:10[SPEAKER_02]: And for being honest though, great bar.
- 1:08:13[SPEAKER_05]: No, that's a great bar, but like,
- 1:08:15[SPEAKER_05]: The things you kind of hear about 40 thieves in regards to these stories, not always not always enveloping alcohol, but, um, but we'll just kind of hear that that I just think it's always funny, like back in the day what fire was it was probably like bata bing.
- 1:08:29[SPEAKER_02]: No, it was on core.
- 1:08:31[SPEAKER_05]: On core.
- 1:08:32[SPEAKER_05]: That's right.
- 1:08:32[SPEAKER_05]: But bata bing was also around back then.
- 1:08:34[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, you want to one of the comments.
- 1:08:37[SPEAKER_02]: One of the comments that I saw on this that I resonated with the most was I think someone quote tweeted and says, tell me you never went to on core growing up in the mid 2000s without telling the you never went to on core.
- 1:08:51[SPEAKER_02]: It was so unbelievably common to see Sabres players at on course at on core after wins and losses back in the day, not only of Andrew Kane when he was
- 1:09:05[SPEAKER_02]: Matthew Barnaby.
- 1:09:07[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I guess that's a little bit older.
- 1:09:09[SPEAKER_02]: But even those teams of the mid 2000s, Thomas Vannick, I saw Danny Breyer at Oncore one night.
- 1:09:16[SPEAKER_05]: Guys are lucky.
- 1:09:16[SPEAKER_02]: There were no camera phones and social media news flash hockey players like to drink and get myself as you saw with the I didn't have nine, but I had about seven and a half eight beer savers.
- 1:09:29[SPEAKER_05]: Well, you admitted it, you admitted it, you didn't drink all nine.
- 1:09:32[SPEAKER_02]: I almost had nine.
- 1:09:33[SPEAKER_02]: Well, how about this?
- 1:09:35[SPEAKER_02]: I had, I would say it's seven and a half eight, and then I went out after the game, and I consummated the nine in a different fashion.
- 1:09:46[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 1:09:46[SPEAKER_05]: I will, I will say the only the only thing that I annoyed me, like again, I don't care at all that Eucopacolugin was how electric, because he's probably not the only guy that went out, you know what I mean after all.
- 1:09:57[SPEAKER_02]: Half the team went out.
- 1:09:59[SPEAKER_05]: I'm sure there are plenty more teammates of his that weren't on camera at 40 thieves at night.
- 1:10:03[SPEAKER_05]: I just think like, play us like, you know, oh, got those teams from 2004, 2004, 2001, I'll tell you.
- 1:10:10[SPEAKER_05]: If you're gonna get hit, if you're gonna get shitty about this and, you know, be on one side and the better the other.
- 1:10:16[SPEAKER_05]: Well, the only difference between those, if you are gonna be angry about that, you're only argument, I guess, would be, yeah, but those teams won.
- 1:10:24[SPEAKER_05]: And consistently won.
- 1:10:26[SPEAKER_05]: And that's fun.
- 1:10:28[SPEAKER_02]: But that's only if you care about completely, I don't think the record of the team precludes a human beings decisions off off the ice so long as he's not making dumb decisions.
- 1:10:44[SPEAKER_02]: This clearly wasn't a dumb decision.
- 1:10:46[SPEAKER_02]: He wasn't doing anything wrong.
- 1:10:49[SPEAKER_02]: He had a night off.
- 1:10:50[SPEAKER_02]: they didn't play the next day.
- 1:10:52[SPEAKER_05]: If it was the next before any year too, by the way.
- 1:10:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and if it wasn't, if it was the night before a game or the night before a start, that's an entirely different discussion.
- 1:11:01[SPEAKER_02]: But it wasn't.
- 1:11:02[SPEAKER_02]: So I just think that people need to get a life.
- 1:11:05[SPEAKER_02]: I agree.
- 1:11:06[SPEAKER_02]: So.
- 1:11:07[SPEAKER_05]: That's it here on all hang up and this will be back to my end from my out for an episode of two glues one Mike, but before we had this road trip, I just want to say thank you all for who chimed in.
