- 2:21com. We will not have any fish here
- 2:23tonight. Ladies and gentlemen, fish has
- 2:25been dealing with some doggy situations and hopefully let's
- 2:30pray for his dog. His dog is dealing with
- 2:33something. I, I would say that dogs aren't
- 2:36supposed to eat chocolate. And he told me he called me
- 2:40while him and his wife are rushing the dog to the
- 2:43veterinarian, the hospital that he ate cookies, ate cookies and
- 2:50they had to rush him to the hospital.
- 2:51I don't know what they're going to do.
- 2:52I don't know if they're pumping the pumping his stomach.
- 2:55I don't know how that works with a dog.
- 2:57But when you hear something like that, I feel bad because I know
- 2:59Fish has told me his dog is like his kid and I, I don't have a
- 3:04dog. I don't have any animals here at
- 3:06my place. So I I've had that.
- 3:11Well, that's an animal I don't want to deal with.
- 3:14Oh, OK. No, that's at.
- 3:16Least you don't have to walk him and take him to go to the
- 3:18bathroom. Right.
- 3:19Well, sometimes I, I feel like I have to, you know?
- 3:24Hey, you win some, you lose some, right?
- 3:25Yeah, definitely win some and lose some.
- 3:27They always say blood is thicker than water when it comes to
- 3:30family, but some of your family sometimes isn't blood and it
- 3:33ends up being thicker. After getting blasted by 45
- 3:37points last weekend by A7 in 18 Brooklyn Nets, the Milwaukee
- 3:41Bucks fell to 11 and 16 on the season.
- 3:46With Giannis on the mend from a calf injury, the Bucks seemingly
- 3:52are falling out of contention even in a week Eastern
- 3:57Conference as the former MVP recovers.
- 4:01Despite yes, the poor performance, head coach Doc
- 4:06Rivers said that the Bucks don't need to make serious changes
- 4:10despite their struggles. Doc added that the Bucks problem
- 4:14simply is a lack of execution, not no effort.
- 4:20Despite the effort, the Bucks have gone 2 and 8 without
- 4:25Giannis and haven't won a back-to-back game since late
- 4:29October. After starting four and one on
- 4:32the year they have gone 7 and 15.
- 4:37Giannis met with the with his agent on December 3rd on the
- 4:41direction of his future and a big decision on what Giannis
- 4:46wants for his long term future is expected to come in the next
- 4:51few weeks. Rumor about Giannis next
- 4:54destination all already in full swing with teams like the
- 4:59Knicks, the Spurs, the Heat and most of the rest of the league
- 5:03including the 24 and two OK C Thunder who are loaded with
- 5:09assets to make what is sure to be the trade of the year in the
- 5:14NBA. Giannis is one of the best
- 5:18players still in the league. Now I do believe Giannis went
- 5:21down the way he did and I don't believe his injury was that big.
- 5:26I I don't think his injury was that bad.
- 5:28Giannis decide what a what a huge what a huge thing when you
- 5:34see what happens you're you're talking about weeks before you
- 5:38were talking about Giannis not being happy.
- 5:40He didn't like the way the team was moving in the proper
- 5:43direction. They have no future.
- 5:45They have nothing. And you hear weeks before that
- 5:49the new New York Knicks after the Knicks played them that the
- 5:52story was not true, that he wanted to be traded to the
- 5:54Knicks. And then what was it 48 or 72
- 5:59hours? Giannis goes down and then they
- 6:04say Giannis is out for three to four weeks.
- 6:06And we've seen this before. This isn't the first time an NBA
- 6:09team and an NBA player goes down and then weeks after he comes
- 6:12back, he's traded. We've seen this and one of the
- 6:15main reasons why, and I'm not saying his agent decided to do
- 6:18that or his family told him to go and pretend that he was hurt.
- 6:22But you also don't want the guy to go down with a major injury
- 6:26where you can't trade him. You can't get as many assets as
- 6:28you possibly can when he's 100% healthy.
- 6:31So I don't know if Milwaukee planned this and told Jonas to
- 6:36go down. And I'm not saying this is like,
- 6:40you know, a Twilight Zone. And I'm trying to figure out a
- 6:42way to observe why this happened.
- 6:46What I will say is an organization that needs assets,
- 6:51an organization that has no assets, and an organization
- 6:53that's made a lot of mistakes. As a matter of fact, if you
- 6:56remember a couple of years ago, they had a winning record and
- 6:59they decided to fire a coach who had a winning record to bring in
- 7:03Doc Rivers because they thought that Doc Rivers would help them
- 7:05get over the hump and help them maybe win another championship
- 7:09when they never, this should have decided to to part ways
- 7:13with Butenholzer. Butenholzer was one of the best
- 7:15coaches in the NBA. One of the best defensive minded
- 7:20coaches in the NBA are Gregg Popovich, backup assistant coach
- 7:24for many, many years. And if you look at the success
- 7:27rate of all these Gregg Popovich disciples, every single guy,
- 7:33Steve Kerr, Mike Brown, you talk about Butenholzer, every single
- 7:37one of these guys were pretty successful after leaving
- 7:41Popovich's bench and gone on to be a head coach in the NBA.
- 7:46As a matter of fact, another guy, Spoelstra, was another
- 7:49Popovich guy. So you sit back and you're
- 7:52you're wondering, you look at the the opportunity that the
- 7:57Bucks have had over the couple of years to find somebody to
- 8:00play with him or find a couple of players that would fit in the
- 8:05roster and and work well with Giannis offensively and
- 8:09defensively have fallen apart. Dame did not work out.
- 8:12Dame tears his Achilles, even if Dame never teared his Achilles,
- 8:16do it? Does anybody believe that Dame
- 8:19was the missing piece to win a championship?
- 8:21Dame never won, I remember. I don't know if you think Dane
- 8:25went past the first round of the playoffs.
- 8:27Maybe one time. One year they went to the
- 8:29Western Conference finals. That was.
- 8:31I don't even remember. They but they won a really weird
- 8:34ugly for overtime game seven in 2019 against the Nuggets, but
- 8:37then they got swept by the Warriors after that and then the
- 8:39Warriors ended up getting injured and losing to the
- 8:42Toronto Raptors in the NBA Finals.
- 8:43It just, to me, it's an organization, it's made a
- 8:47tremendous amount of mistakes. They're honestly, well, they're
- 8:50not the Miami Dolphins of the NBA, but I.
- 8:53Won't go that far yet. No, but there there are team
- 8:56that has won a championship, but they should have mown both.
- 8:59They should have won multiple championships.
- 9:01And when you're #2 guy is Powell or Portis or whoever they have
- 9:05on their roster and you're reaching, you have to understand
- 9:09that the GM obviously doesn't know what he's doing.
- 9:11And maybe Doc Rivers is in another hemisphere.
- 9:15He's he's playing, he's playing basketball on planet Uranus or
- 9:20Mercury or Mars. Because anybody, including Doc
- 9:23Rivers, that has come out and said that they don't need
- 9:26anything else to win, that they just need a healthy Giannis and
- 9:30they just need to it's a lacks of lack of execution.
- 9:33And you watch basketball and you think that Doc Rivers knows
- 9:37anything about basketball. After he comes out and says
- 9:40that, you wonder if Doc Rivers should be sent to a, you know, a
- 9:44nursing home because he's absolutely crazy.
- 9:47If there is no way in hell that Doc Rivers actually believes
- 9:53that this team with Giannis can make a run for a playoff or even
- 9:58make a run for a championship, there's no possible way with the
- 10:01roster they have and the way the roster is set up and you can see
- 10:05what their record is with him and without him.
- 10:09They're not good. When you lose against 45 points
- 10:12against the Brooklyn Nets, there's a problem.
- 10:14The Brooklyn Nets are a bad organization.
- 10:16They're a bad team. They're not very good.
- 10:19And to sit here and try to make excuses for an organization that
- 10:23has done some things good over the years and has had a fairly
- 10:29good ownership there, but the ownership has slowly but surely
- 10:34fallen flat on their face. What did they do in the
- 10:36offseason? I know what they did.
- 10:38They decided to bring in Giannis, two brothers, and maybe
- 10:41hired his mother as the equipment manager.
- 10:43I mean, honestly, that doesn't make any sense in anybody
- 10:46sitting here today. To believe that that was going
- 10:48to change the factors of an organization that's falling flat
- 10:52on their face is a joke. And I do believe that New York
- 10:56Knicks story was absolutely true.
- 10:58But the Knicks were not willing to trade Karl Anthony Towns at
- 11:01the time. And I don't know if the Knicks
- 11:02are going to be willing to trade Karl Anthony Towns the way the
- 11:05Knicks are playing under Mike Brown with the talent that they
- 11:07have around the players that they have.
- 11:09So now you wonder if Giannis is going to go somewhere where he
- 11:13doesn't want to go. And everybody keeps talking
- 11:15about OKC. Why would OKC decide to trade
- 11:18away assets when they're 24 and 2 right now?
- 11:21There's still one of the elite teams in the league.
- 11:23They're still going to get a top ten pick because you have the
- 11:26Clippers draft pick. How many wins do they have?
- 11:286? I mean, they could have a
- 11:30lottery pick in the top five this year.
- 11:33And by the way, it's not protected, it's unprotected.
- 11:37So they can actually win the draft this year with the talent
- 11:41that they have right now. So why would an organization
- 11:47that just won a championship have one of the best offensive
- 11:50players in the league, one of the best defenses in the league,
- 11:52one of the best young coaches in the league, and one of the more
- 11:55team, one of the best teams when it comes to depth and benches in
- 11:58all of the NBA decide, hey, you know what?
- 12:01We're just going to trade away assets to bring Giannis in
- 12:04because we have a better chance to win.
- 12:06They have a good chance to win this year.
- 12:07Without Giannis. Why would they make that move?
- 12:09There are only two teams besides the Knicks that I could see that
- 12:13even happening to, and not even the Spurs.
- 12:15I could see the Heat and I could see the Lakers.
- 12:18The Lakers don't have the assets, so it might not be the
- 12:21Lakers, it would be the Heat. And the Heat makes a lot of
- 12:25sense. But if the Heat decides to move
- 12:29and make a move for a guy like Giannis, they're going to have
- 12:31to trade Tyler Hero, They're going to have to trade Bam out
- 12:34of Bio. So there Giannis is going to a
- 12:37team that stinks anyways, so it doesn't make any sense why he
- 12:41would be moving to the Heat. The only team that makes a lot
- 12:44of sense is the Knicks. The Knicks have assets.
- 12:47The Knicks have, they have a bench, they have a coach that
- 12:50can absolutely move them right in or fit them right into the
- 12:54puzzle. And the Knicks automatically are
- 12:56still in the elite team in the league if that happens.
- 12:58The problem, the problem is, are the Knicks in the driver's seat
- 13:01now? Well, the Knicks don't have to
- 13:03trade at the assets that Milwaukee's going to be asking
- 13:06for because they're the only team in the driver's seat to
- 13:09land them. So I, I, just, I, if you're a
- 13:13Knick fan, you're sitting back and you have a smile on your
- 13:18face. Why?
- 13:19Because they're in the driver's seat.
- 13:21Milwaukee is not in the driver's seat.
- 13:24The organization is reaching and Giannis has already come out and
- 13:28said that there's only one team he wants to play for, and that's
- 13:32the Knicks. So I mean, what more do the
- 13:36Knicks need to do to just sit back and wait until this debacle
- 13:40falls flat on their face? And and Doc Rivers is falling,
- 13:44falling flat on his face. And he's going to need somebody
- 13:46to mop up the the guck that he's going to be spitting on the
- 13:50ground or spitting his gum on the ground.
- 13:53And he might need to clean up, you know, Well, we can reach out
- 13:56to Will from Elf and he could start picking up the gum under
- 14:00the, you know, the the subway or whatever you buy.
- 14:03I mean, if you watch the movie, I mean it, it's just
- 14:07embarrassing. This is an embarrassing
- 14:09organization now. They went from one of the elite
- 14:11Eastern Conference team automatically to the one of the
- 14:14worst Eastern Conference teams. And they might have a lottery
- 14:17pick, but if they keep Giannis, they might fall out of the
- 14:20lottery. So they need to move Giannis as
- 14:22quick as they possibly can because the more games they win
- 14:24with Giannis hurts the facts and the factor of them next year
- 14:29getting a lottery pick in this coming draft, which is one of
- 14:31the best drafts we've seen seen since 2004, 2005 when Le Bron,
- 14:36James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade came out of
- 14:39that draft class. Yeah, it's one of those things
- 14:41where the Bucks have to realize that their team just got old all
- 14:43at once. They had to make a desperation
- 14:44move after trading Chris Middle and Drew Holiday.
- 14:47Obviously they they waved him in the Damian Lillard trade.
- 14:50And then all of a sudden now you had to go sign Miles Turner as
- 14:53your like big free agent move to give any kind of a supporting
- 14:56cast to Giannis. And now you're dealing with a
- 14:59case of the Bucks started hot because they over performed with
- 15:03a bunch of random rookies that happened to work, but it wasn't
- 15:05going to last. These were second round and
- 15:07undrafted rookies playing in a system with a lot of veterans.
- 15:10It wasn't going to last. And now you look at them playing
- 15:13against all these weak opponents that they can't even be losing
- 15:15by 45 points to the Brooklyn Nets.
- 15:17The Brooklyn Nets were the last NBA team to win a game this year
- 15:21and you lost by 45 points to that team A-Team that's been
- 15:23rebuilding for the last three years since they traded away
- 15:26Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant and the Wizards.
- 15:29They've been dysfunctional for seven years now.
- 15:31The Hornets, forget it. I mean, the last time they were
- 15:33good was probably the late 90s, and even then they weren't.
- 15:35They were like a second tier team at best.
- 15:37And the Pelicans, like these are all dysfunctional teams now.
- 15:41I agree that the Bucks are not becoming that level of
- 15:43dysfunctional yet, but at the same time they're on the
- 15:46downturn because they can't get young players to develop around
- 15:50Yanis. They haven't had a bench for a
- 15:51while. Brook Lopez was probably the
- 15:53other big man that could be good.
- 15:55Now he's gone. It just essentially replaced him
- 15:57with Turner, Doc Rivers. And this organization has to
- 16:00realize that they waited too long to make that kind of thing
- 16:03happen where either they built around Giannis with somebody
- 16:05younger or they had to move off of Damian Lillard and Chris
- 16:09Middleton and guys like that faster than they did.
- 16:11And it just didn't work. And now they're stuck in a very
- 16:14weird spot. And I agree with you.
- 16:15The Knicks are the only team really right now in strong play
- 16:18for Giannis. Because the other team I was
- 16:21thinking besides, OK, C was probably the Pistons, but same
- 16:23kind of thing. Why would they want to break up
- 16:25their young core where they're 21 and six or something like
- 16:27that? OK, so he's 24 and 2.
- 16:29They're not going to want to do that.
- 16:30Yeah, the Spurs are definitely in that mix as well.
- 16:32And Miami, they don't have the assets.
- 16:34So they have to really wait for like the either the Bucks to
- 16:37like screw the Knicks or something with their GM pull off
- 16:40a Danny Ainge to just hate the Knicks.
- 16:41Why? First of all, Danny Ainge is not
- 16:44part of the Bucks organization. No, no their.
- 16:46GM is the equivalent. They're part of the Utah
- 16:49organization, and the Knicks are in the driver's seat because are
- 16:51the Knicks willing to trade off any assets to lane Giannis?
- 16:55The Knicks don't need Giannis. Knicks could win without them.
- 16:59They're proving it right now. They're in second place.
- 17:01They're 2 1/2 games behind Detroit.
- 17:03Detroit will eventually get into a something.
- 17:05Knicks are going to run away with the Eastern Conference.
- 17:08Right now the only team I think is a threat is Jaylen Brown and
- 17:12and maybe the Spider if the Cavaliers figure things out
- 17:15because they've been up and down really early this season.
- 17:18So we don't know what they are and I can't I I still think
- 17:22Kenny Atkinson is one of the best coaches in the NBA.
- 17:24He's a Long Island native. So I root Kenny Atkinson on all
- 17:27the time. I I don't think the Knicks have
- 17:29to worry about it. They're in the driver seat.
- 17:31All they got to do is keep hitting the gas and accelerate
- 17:35and wait until Yannis or wait until the organization in
- 17:39Milwaukee. Say what?
- 17:41We'll just take whatever you have.
- 17:43Give us whatever. What's the best package you can
- 17:45give us? We'll take it.
- 17:47And and I think the Knicks are going to be in that driver's
- 17:49seat because there's nobody else besides OK C that will be
- 17:53willing to trade away top notch players to land a guy like
- 17:58Giannis who only has one more year left on his contract.
- 18:01He's 32 years old and he wants to win now.
- 18:05So, and I know everybody keeps saying, well, what about
- 18:07Detroit? Detroit.
- 18:09Giannis don't want to go to Detroit.
- 18:11People get lost in Detroit. He wants to go to a big city.
- 18:15It makes the only time it makes sense besides the besides the
- 18:19big ones like Texas, maybe Miami, New York, LA and Boston.
- 18:26The only way he gets traded to a small city.
- 18:30It's OK. C he's not going to want to go
- 18:33to these other organizations like Utah.
- 18:35You think he wants to go to Utah and play over there for Danny
- 18:39Ainge because you know Danny Ainge is going to rob Milwaukee.
- 18:42That's not going to happen. And maybe the Clippers.
- 18:45What do the Clippers have? They got nothing.
- 18:47They traded Alexander for Paul George.
- 18:49Congratulations to the Clipper organization.
- 18:52Kawhi Leonard doesn't want to be there anymore.
- 18:54He's getting paid onto the table.
- 18:55There is no nowhere else. This man now Orlando makes
- 18:59sense. Orlando is a nice city.
- 19:03It's a growing city. They're just a young team.
- 19:05And even with Giannis, are they going to have enough?
- 19:07And they're going to have to treat pieces, maybe two or three
- 19:10of their best players to land a Giannis.
- 19:12And you don't even want to play in Orlando.
- 19:14It's not a big basketball city. It really isn't.
- 19:17I, I understand that they're growing over there and I, I'm
- 19:20sorry, Nick, as much as I love you good, Mr. Goodwood, I know
- 19:24you'll love your Orlando Magic, but this is a team that has made
- 19:28the playoffs what, one time in the last five years?
- 19:31They're not an organization that makes the playoffs consistently
- 19:34and until they're consistently do that, they're not going to be
- 19:37a place where everybody wants to go.
- 19:39When Dwight Howard was there and Jameer Nelson was playing at the
- 19:43top of his game as a young point guard, maybe then was a time,
- 19:47time where everybody wanted to go and play with Dwight Howard
- 19:49and Jimmy or Nelson. Not anymore.
- 19:51This is not the same Orlando Magic team.
- 19:53This is not the Orlando Magic that went to a Finals and made a
- 19:57run against Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh and LeBron James and
- 20:01the Heat. This is not the same Orlando
- 20:04Magic. These are facts, guys.
- 20:06And the fact that Doc Rivers came out and said they don't
- 20:10need anything. They don't need any maintenance
- 20:11on this team. It just tells me you ever go to.
- 20:16You ever go to a supermarket and something spills and somebody
- 20:19gets on the loudspeaker and says aisle 5 can filter fish, can
- 20:24filter fish, is on the floor, can filter fish, people are
- 20:27going to slip can filter fish or aisle 5, there's some soda on
- 20:31the ground, pick up or whatever mess on aisle 5I.
- 20:35I mean, that's where it is right now.
- 20:38There's a mess on every single aisle and they're just hoping
- 20:41that they go down the right aisle and they can, before they,
- 20:44they slip on something, they can get out of the aisle before they
- 20:47fall flat on their face. And right now this is an
- 20:50organization and I, I'm trying to find an analogy on the fly to
- 20:54kind of consider or kind of bring to everybody's attention
- 20:57on how I feel about the Milwaukee Bucks.
- 21:00And the only thing that I can consider and believe Milwaukee
- 21:04is an organization, is an organization that needs to
- 21:08understand that if you don't have a superstar that is happy,
- 21:14you need to do what's right to the superstar.
- 21:16Because if you don't, the superstar is going to hold your
- 21:19organization up for ransom and you're not going to get anything
- 21:23back for that superstar. We've seen it in the NBA.
- 21:26The NBA is the only sport where the players run the league.
- 21:30It's a fact, guys. It's a fact.
- 21:32Since LeBron James, the players have run the league.
- 21:36LeBron does whatever he wants. He says whatever he wants.
- 21:39Kyrie Irving has said anti-Semitic things.
- 21:43The league made him apologize and then he went to Dallas.
- 21:46He was traded to Dallas by the Brooklyn Nets and then went up
- 21:50there after the fact and said, you know what?
- 21:52I'm taking back my apology. Why am I going to apologize for
- 21:55something I believe? Did you say Cuban is a Jewish
- 21:57owner? I mean, it's ridiculous.
- 22:00It's just ridiculous. And, and the fact here is the
- 22:04NBA has always been an organization that has done right
- 22:09for the league. Now that you have Adam Silver
- 22:11there and David Stern is no longer there, may rest in peace
- 22:15is gone. And I know we we, we had Tim
- 22:17Donaghy on the show and he said screw, screw him.
- 22:21Screw Stern. He was a terrible commissioner.
- 22:24But let's be honest, Commissioner Stearns did not
- 22:29allow some of this craziness that's happening or happened on
- 22:33and off the foot basketball field when a basketball court
- 22:36when he was there as the commissioner of the league.
- 22:39Ever since Adam Silver has taken over, he's let these players
- 22:42take and made optional excuses for the players to do whatever
- 22:47they wanted and have pretty much pushed out owners.
- 22:51Now I'm not saying the owners were right for what they did.
- 22:54The anti-Semitic attacks and some of the things that came out
- 22:57of these owners should they should have been, I wouldn't say
- 23:01pushed out, put up should have been fined and something should
- 23:04have been done with the organization.
- 23:06And maybe like George Steinbrenner, he was pushed out
- 23:09of ownership for two years with the Yankees.
- 23:12Remember that. He was gone from the Yankees for
- 23:14two years and he had to bring somebody in to run the
- 23:16organization, the with the players and the way the players
- 23:20run the league, The players told the commissioner that we are not
- 23:25playing unless this guy, you know, you push this guy out of
- 23:29ownership. And that's why the Clippers did
- 23:31it. And that's why, if I'm not
- 23:32mistaken, the Phoenix Suns did the same thing.
- 23:36So the players have run the league and have let really the
- 23:40league be run by the faces of the organization, the Chris
- 23:44Paul's of the world, the Carmelo Anthonys, the Dwyane Wade, the
- 23:47LeBron James's. And now we're starting to see
- 23:50the transition of why the league and the NBA is so big
- 23:54internationally and why it's only going to grow
- 23:57internationally because the league is allowing the players
- 24:00to do what they want. I've mentioned too that I think
- 24:02it's a lot of the LeBron generation that's causing a lot
- 24:05of this dramatic behavior. I would say probably besides
- 24:07Joel Embiid and maybe Anthony Edwards in this, I guess younger
- 24:10generation guys that were drafted in the last 10 years or
- 24:13so, you're not seeing it as much with that.
- 24:15Luka Doncic, a good example of that was surprised he got
- 24:18traded. Obviously the world was
- 24:19surprised that Nico Harrison did the dumb ass stuff that he did
- 24:22and he traded in the Lakers for practically nothing.
- 24:25And if it wasn't for maybe that shy and that that trade with the
- 24:28Clippers of the Thunder is the worst trade in NBA history,
- 24:30Those are probably the two when you look at it.
- 24:32And if you look at somebody like Giannis, Giannis is not directly
- 24:36trying to antagonize the box and saying, oh, trade me now or else
- 24:40type thing. But there's inadvertent signs
- 24:44meeting with his agent already. He mentioned the Knicks.
- 24:46If I want to be traded, I was a good servicer there.
- 24:48I want to expand my legacy in New York.
- 24:50He definitely mentioned that in the offseason for a reason.
- 24:53And I think he's doing it in a way where it's still helping
- 24:57Milwaukee make that kind of decision.
- 24:59The problem is Milwaukee and somebody like Doc Rivers, who's
- 25:02old school is reluctant to say, all right, maybe I haven't done
- 25:05enough for this organization to compete to this team because
- 25:07you're right. Adrian Griffin was 30 and 10,
- 25:09the number two seed in the in the Eastern Conference only to
- 25:12the Celtics when they fired him back in 2023.
- 25:14And you're right, the decision to fire Budenholzer, I wasn't
- 25:16wouldn't have done that either. It seemed like Budenholzer and
- 25:19Giannis maybe fell off at the end of his tenure there.
- 25:21And now you're stuck with Doc Rivers, who doesn't get along
- 25:25with Giannis either. And any of these players just
- 25:27stuck in an old school mentality for a team that's not very good,
- 25:31A-Team that's not very deep and has no sense of direction.
- 25:34They're kind of like the Suns in the Eastern Conference, maybe a
- 25:37little better, but not by much. And you don't want to be that
- 25:40type of directionless team because that only helps the
- 25:43Knicks, Thunder, all these other teams that have assets say we're
- 25:46going to play hardball on you. And I mentioned this last week
- 25:48when we did the weekend Crunch, Leon Rose is waiting patiently
- 25:52to not have to trade Karl Anthony Towns to do this.
- 25:55The longer this goes on towards the trade deadline, that's all
- 25:59the Leon Rose in this New York Knicks organization needs
- 26:01because they have the guys to trade on the roster and even the
- 26:03young guys that they could definitely make that.
- 26:05Trade. The Knicks are in the driver's
- 26:07seat right now and they're just waiting to erupt.
- 26:09They're waiting. They're waiting to reach out or
- 26:12waiting for the organization, the organization to reach out to
- 26:16the Knicks and say, listen, we'll take whatever you have.
- 26:18What do you, what do you have? What are you giving us?
- 26:20What could you give us to get this deal done?
- 26:23And the Knicks are going to do whatever is popular for the fan
- 26:27and whatever is popular to the organization that makes it work,
- 26:30where they can keep the the players that they need to get
- 26:33over the hump and and be the favorites of coming out of the
- 26:35Eastern Conference this year. Because it's all about winning a
- 26:37championship with the Knicks. And no matter what the Knicks
- 26:41want to win this championship, they haven't won one since 1973.
- 26:45The team has gotten close in 2000.
- 26:47They've gotten close last year in an Eastern Conference finals.
- 26:50I don't know if the Knicks beat OK CI, don't know if they make
- 26:54they give it a challenge like Hal Burton and Indianapolis.
- 26:57And maybe if Hal Burton didn't go down in game #7 Indianapolis
- 27:01is the NBA championship champions right now.
- 27:04The run that Indiana went, what they did last year was pretty
- 27:07amazing. And, and to me, OK C is going to
- 27:12be the team that everybody is going to be catching up to for
- 27:15the next 10 years because of the assets they have and the young
- 27:19players that they have right now with the organization.
- 27:21And they're only going to get better.
- 27:23And the Knicks, they're ready to win now.
- 27:25They have Jalen Brunson, who's 30 years old that just signed a
- 27:28four year or three-year extension.
- 27:30They have Josh Hart has another year left on as a contract.
- 27:33You have all these players right now that are ready and under
- 27:37contract now to make that run. How many years left do they have
- 27:42that they can keep these players in New York at the contracts
- 27:46that they have them where they can they can win a championship
- 27:49with this this type of roster and it's not many years left.
- 27:52I think they have two more years or actually one more year left
- 27:55from this year where he came or the Knicks, Leon Rose can keep
- 27:59this team together and make that run for NBA championship.
- 28:02So, you know, they talk about windows in the NBA windows.
- 28:06It's usually A5 year window for the NBA, five years.
- 28:10Any more than five years, you're a dynasty.
- 28:13And that's why you look at Golden State and what they've
- 28:15done. It's pretty amazing.
- 28:16I give Golden State a little bit of credit.
- 28:18I'm not going to sit here and just beat around the Bush.
- 28:20They're a great team and I don't need you giggling, Speedy.
- 28:22It's true. I'm not giving, I'm not going to
- 28:25attack Steph Curry or an organization that has found ways
- 28:29to win. It's not easy to win that NBA
- 28:31championships. But when you look at Kevin
- 28:33Durant going over there and making a power four and, and
- 28:36we've seen other teams like the Chicago Bulls do it with
- 28:40drafting players and only bringing in Dennis Rodman and
- 28:43doing what Michael joining Scottie Pippen and all the other
- 28:45after sore after four players, they brought in Derek, I'm
- 28:49sorry, not Derek Harper, Ron Harper, Ron Harper.
- 28:52And they had players that they've they, they drafted BJ
- 28:56Armstrong was there for a couple of champions.
- 28:58Horace Grant was there for a championship or two and then
- 29:02they had Tony KU coach. But they built around the draft
- 29:05and that's how it worked in the NBA at the time.
- 29:08You had to build around 2 superstars.
- 29:10Now you need multiple players, great bench and maybe I would
- 29:15say multiple superstars or stars and maybe 2 superstars to get
- 29:20over the hump. And and again, the Knicks have
- 29:23done the right thing with Leon Rose and hopefully no matter
- 29:26what they do with Giannis, what they do with Giannis fans, they
- 29:31don't make the wrong decision and decide to not make a run at
- 29:37Giannis because they think this team in this roster is good
- 29:39enough to win. When you have a chance to go
- 29:41after a superstar this good, a top five player that can change
- 29:45everything for your organization, especially making
- 29:48a run for an NBA championship because this this is a player
- 29:51that's still one of the elite players in the league.
- 29:53So. Before we want to do this today,
- 29:54I just want to mention like you look at the models that you try
- 29:57to build with the with the championship team.
- 29:59Now the Thunder had it. We did it with a lot of trades,
- 30:01obviously the stockpiling of the draft picks.
- 30:03The Celtics have done a kind of homegrown, they stockpile draft
- 30:06picks who obviously the Billy King trade, but they kind of did
- 30:08it in a different way where they were drafting some really good
- 30:11college players and then they just carried over changing it
- 30:13from Brad Stevens coaching scheme now to Missoula.
- 30:16And they made that kind of thing work.
- 30:17And the Knicks have done it with trades of their young players
- 30:20and getting those players still in their prime at a good value
- 30:23and really good discount contracts.
- 30:25As a result. Leon Rose is great in
- 30:27manipulating the cap and it's a big reason why the Knicks, in
- 30:29addition to building a team now that has some size and some
- 30:32flash, have now of the depth and that's where they have all the
- 30:35assets to make it work where Giannis can be.
- 30:37There could be like 6 different things you could possibly trade
- 30:39for Giannis if you're the Knicks right now.
- 30:41It's crazy. I will say this for all the
- 30:43fans, my Vertigo is now gone. It's finally gone.
- 30:47It's been around really the whole show and I've been here
- 30:50and seeing glows in my right eye.
- 30:52It is fully gone. So I feel good.
- 30:55But ladies and gentlemen, I have my deuce of the day.
- 30:58The deuce of the day. You'll log not a log.
- 31:02I don't have a log but. I.
- 31:11Ladies and gentlemen, my deuce of the day goes to Puka Nakua
- 31:14brother who was arrested for allegedly stealing Lakers
- 31:18players car. Yes, here it is, ladies and
- 31:21gentlemen. Older brother of Los Angeles
- 31:23Rams wide receiver Puka Nakua is in the hot, well, in a hot seat
- 31:27and has a lot of explaining to do after being arrested over the
- 31:32weekend. Samson Nukua was reportedly
- 31:34busted after stealing a car that belonged to Lakers rookie Adu
- 31:40Sierra, according to NBC 4 Los Angeles News.
- 31:45I, I will say this, I, I, Puka Nukua is a superstar.
- 31:48He's one of the best players right now at his position in all
- 31:51of the NFL. And I know it's a story when you
- 31:54hear somebody's brother doing something stupid on and off a
- 31:57basketball, football, hockey, ice, whatever, any kind of
- 32:01field. But when you hear a story like
- 32:03this, you have to laugh. And I, I don't know, Puka Nukua
- 32:06is made himself a lot of money, is going to make himself a lot
- 32:09of money for his future. But really, does this really
- 32:12matter? I, I, does it really matter?
- 32:14Puka Nukua's brother means absolutely nothing to Puka
- 32:18Nukua's career. But it's a story because the
- 32:20NFL, there's really nothing going on except the the Joe
- 32:23Burrow situation or, you know, there's three weeks left of the
- 32:26NFL season. We're talking about who wins the
- 32:29Heisman a couple of weeks ago. So what we we we all know what
- 32:33happened with the Moore situation and that.
- 32:35So the NFL needs to find a story to kind of wrap your head around
- 32:39it. And and you hear Pukanukua's
- 32:41brother getting arrested because he's stealing in an an NBA
- 32:46players car. And it's not like it's Luka
- 32:49Dodgic. It's not like it's LeBron James
- 32:51or Reeves. No, it's a guy that I've never
- 32:53even heard of a rookie that it really is not even in the lineup
- 32:57half the time for the Lakers. So my juice of the day goes to
- 33:01just an outrageous story that means absolutely nothing where
- 33:05the media is trying to find something that you know, you
- 33:08have Nukua playing tonight on Thursday Night Football.
- 33:10Do you really want me to talk about Puka Nukua?
- 33:13How about Puka Nukua scoring? Did he just score right now?
- 33:18Did he have a touchdown? No.
- 33:19But I, the Rams just put no. It was something happened.
- 33:22It was a but it was a penalty. But Pukanuku is one of the best,
- 33:26one of the most elite offensive players in the league.
- 33:28I could give a crap about what his brother is doing and how
- 33:32many cars this man is stealing. So that, ladies and gentlemen,
- 33:36is my deuce of the day. That's it for our show, ladies
- 33:40and gentlemen, Thank you to all the Spotify and Apple fans
- 33:44tuning in to us or the video and audio.
