- 0:22[SPEAKER_04]: Are you guys doing?
- 0:23[SPEAKER_02]: Man, it's good to have that.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_02]: On, we got current in the house and Gary is rejoining us from a remote location in Indonesia.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, thanks for having me.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_05]: The summer is funny, man.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_05]: Feels like it's we're all over the place.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_02]: It is just like a bizarre world, but where are you today joining us from?
- 0:41[SPEAKER_03]: I am in water sound, Florida today.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_03]: Life and I've gotten away from our four kids for four days alone.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_03]: So a very seldom opportunity to do something.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_02]: Let's just gonna kick off our weeks.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_02]: I'll go first today and then we'll roll through.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_02]: So a really good work to July with nothing going on for Hamhouse Sports.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_02]: I told my wife I was like, I don't want to really see anybody or hang out with anybody.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_02]: I just want to come home.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_02]: and just sleep and catch up on a wild wild June.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_02]: But we've been moving some stuff as far as cards go, send a nice order off to PSA, a little map picked up a first-year story kaboom that he's super pooped about, really rare card, tough to grab hold of.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_02]: We also got first-year prism, prism refractors of Brady and Kobe, just really love pop cards that, you know, we're gonna be good for heading to the national.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_02]: And then, of course, we're gearing up for
- 1:36[SPEAKER_02]: and it'll be all far, which we can drop here in a little bit, but that's what we got going on.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_02]: What about you, Karen?
- 1:40[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I'm still out here in Southampton to press on vacation, but no, I say to press them, I'm not really depressed, but it's just hard for me working from home.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not used to it, and in my business it's very hands-on, so my efficiency level is not nearly as high, but it's great to be with the family and the kids the whole time, but from a card perspective, I've been pretty inactive, as I said last week, unless aggressive,
- 2:04[SPEAKER_05]: than usual, you know, kind of take for granted that, you know, I do all the card stuff out of my office.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_05]: So I have like all their shipping supplies at, you know, at eddies like right in front of me.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_05]: I have, you know, hobby guards and the, you know, the bubble mailers and bubble wrap and tape, like constantly, it's just there.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_05]: UPS labels and just everything at eddies and that arms length.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_05]: It kind of take that for granted here, you know, cutting tape with a scissor trauma.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_05]: mail something out and like this is like like I get you know at the drive to UPS instead of having a daily pick up you know for UPS you take that for granted I miss my cards miss looking at them miss you know kind of just you know taking the the hour out of the day or or five to just like go through fun out you know see what I'm gonna sell see what I'm gonna move me make a trade here and there but but all good stuff man optimism
- 2:59[SPEAKER_05]: some had some pool parties and barbecues for for the July kids are back in camp and you know back to the daily grind.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: Current when I'm vision you in the Hampton's I kind of have that scene from Wolf of Wall Street when they're having the pool party in the White House.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_02]: Like is that?
- 3:12[SPEAKER_02]: No, it will never vote for that.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe ten years ago, not anymore.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_05]: Now it's now it's it's more like it's just a fuel mend and tank top standing around watching their kids while drinking beer.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_03]: How like a forty year old virgin?
- 3:25[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'm all like that.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, exactly.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_05]: We had a party here on Friday and some friends come over and we had somebody come and, you know, barbecue and, you know, like cater the thing and we had my wife hired a tennis instructor from the tennis club to come to the house and just like hit balls with the kids and also whoever and like I haven't done anything active and
- 3:48[SPEAKER_05]: God knows how long.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_05]: So I was like, you know, I had I had that Margarita and I was like, you know, I fucked up.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_05]: It's like, let's put my shoes on and go hit some balls.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_05]: I go hit balls and dude, five minutes in.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_05]: I had this like burning sensation in my throat.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_05]: I felt like such an old fuck.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_05]: Like it was, you know, when you're at a shape and you're like, you start running and like you have this burning effect.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_05]: You know what I'm talking about or no?
- 4:10[SPEAKER_02]: No, I don't know strong man.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_05]: I'm, oh, dude.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_05]: Zack knows what I'm talking about.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_05]: I couldn't breathe.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_05]: This guy's like, and this guy's like, he's Argentinian.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_05]: He's like, let's play doubles.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_05]: You know what I'm like?
- 4:22[SPEAKER_05]: Dude, I'm done.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_05]: He's like, really?
- 4:25[SPEAKER_05]: I'm like, dude, I'm done.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_05]: And dude, I was like, I was messed up for the next twelve hours.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_05]: I woke up coughing and such a little BITCH.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, I got a film at shit next time.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_04]: We got to get a I got to see that shit live in person Some current will drop F bombs, but we're gonna spell out bitch like what's going on with that?
- 4:44[SPEAKER_05]: It's a good point.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, but we have a most edit mute button for a current I mean, that was like a little bit There we go back.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_03]: What the what happened in your life over the fourth man?
- 4:55[SPEAKER_03]: What's been going on in your life?
- 4:58[SPEAKER_04]: I had a long week last week of Monday.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_04]: It's in the office feeling good
- 5:03[SPEAKER_04]: All of a sudden, drive in home.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_04]: I don't feel very good.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_04]: So what's going on?
- 5:08[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_04]: I get home like fall asleep at six.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_04]: I wake up at about one over the next twenty four hours.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_04]: I think I went to the bathroom at least twenty four times.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_04]: I had a one oh two six fever.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_04]: I thought I was I have a one year old.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_04]: I thought I was the one year old.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_04]: That's like those are one year old numbers there.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_04]: So I go to the doctor.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_04]: It shows me the hospital right away.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_04]: They run these tests on me and my stomach.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_04]: It turns out I got like terrible food poisoning.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_04]: They were worried that I had a diverticulitis, which I don't know.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_04]: I was like, yeah, that doesn't sound that bad.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_04]: I looked it up.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_04]: That's not good.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_04]: So you don't want to have that.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, a lot of fluids.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_04]: And then I was back by the weekend, you know, we went to the beach.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_04]: We go to beach club though.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_04]: We don't have a Hampton's house like current.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_04]: We're not there yet.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_04]: One day, you know, there is a pickleball court there at the beach club though, current.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_04]: So is that a pickleball acceptable or you think that's to your play pickleball.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_04]: So you're in good shape then.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_05]: I love pickleball.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, I played once in the last year to
- 6:02[SPEAKER_05]: That's what happens.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_05]: I love the idea.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_05]: I love the idea.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_05]: It was fun when I played.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_03]: Matt, give us, uh, give us role in here on our topics of the week.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_03]: We want to go ahead and get into.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, we can.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_02]: I will go in one minute with a little Matt comp and then we'll dive right into the show.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_02]: So here we go.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: I'm out sports.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: I am here at my high school about going to basketball practice, but big Matt, let me know that I had to do a one minute little Matt.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm here committed to one minute little Matt.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: One comp that blew me away max Clark true gold PSA ten for forty five hundred dollars absolutely insane comp another comp two ages mod day oranges sold this week or all one so for five k and a ten sold for ninety six hundred dollars mod day prices are definitely coming down since start of the product all right another comp we had a chasing him in guys true gold nine five go for thirty three fifty seems high for what he's been doing this season
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: and the Jordan-Incert Market has been going absolutely bonkers to amazing sales and east-wester fractor with him and Kobe in a PSA-Nine did four-eight hundred private and a cut above PSA-Nine did over almost eighteen thousand dollars on eBay this weekend.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: Those are the comps of the week, peace.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_05]: Tell you, J.D.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_05]: I'm just been picking it up lately.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'm going to leave off.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_03]: I like that.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he had like seven hits I think.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_02]: He was like seven for seven in like a consecutive games room.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, he had a good subway series.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's crazy.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_02]: It's crazy though, like his gold nine five.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_02]: I think Matthew said it did thirty three hundred.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_02]: You know, his values are down certainly, but like his aura is still holding strong.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_05]: No, he's like hitting two in the two seventies now.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_04]: He's up.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_04]: He's a what you know what I learned from that market segment was that little Matt definitely knows the most about cards out of you three for sure.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_04]: That's what that's what I learned.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_04]: And the stuff he's buying, he knows a lot.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_04]: He's got a good versatility in the card game.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_04]: His real pop-up on my, you know, my feed.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm always watching what little Matt's doing just for the record.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_02]: Not a appreciate exactly.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_02]: He's on top of it, man.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, it's interesting when you look at like a J-dom, because we talked about that on the show last week with Arum, right?
- 8:03[SPEAKER_02]: About like value, because you look at Max Clark in a tin, doing forty-five and J-dom, doing thirty-three and nine-five.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_02]: Real quick, if you guys could pick one of those two cards at that value, which one would you take?
- 8:14[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, Dom.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_03]: Max Clark, Jay Dom and who?
- 8:17[SPEAKER_03]: No, just those two.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_03]: Jay Dom.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_03]: Jay Dom.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_04]: Jay Dom.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_04]: You know, I got to see the auto.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_04]: That's how I make that decision on the Clark.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_04]: But I would say, Jay Dom, just for the reason that at one point, that was almost a fifteen twenty grand card.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_03]: So you know, there's a lot of people.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_03]: Zach, what do you watch the Yankees?
- 8:31[SPEAKER_03]: You're a Yankees fan.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm just curious for our listeners here, because we talked about the Minga's last week with Arum.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_03]: And I mentioned to me as being a guy that target on the fall, because he has what you want as far as that, he's shown upside before.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_03]: So my question to you though was, do you believe the kid is going to be the real deal?
- 8:50[SPEAKER_03]: You watched him play, like, do you believe he's going to be one of those guys?
- 8:54[SPEAKER_03]: And either sometime this year it clicks or next year he comes back out and he's the real deal or do you think he's just going to be a league average or below?
- 9:00[SPEAKER_03]: The biggest adjustment
- 9:01[SPEAKER_04]: Open the year they moved him from center to left.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_04]: It was a disaster in spring.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_04]: He looks really solid defensive, which I know doesn't sell cards, but just to me, show that he is like the ability to make an adjustment and that he can improve, which I think is very important, especially your buying prospect cards, right?
- 9:17[SPEAKER_04]: So prospect cards go up is guys improve.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_04]: That's the whole point.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_04]: You're buying a stock.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_04]: You want to see growth.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_04]: It's not necessarily flat.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_04]: You can buy guys flat that you like sure, but the J-dom your buying is a prospect.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_04]: So I like that.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_04]: always come out of the plate the thing you like about the men gets to is he's pretty clutch he can get a big hit and when it hit you'd like to see him be a little better but he did miss like a year and a half in the majors and he's pretty young overall I'm not I'm not disconcerted with him I just think you you still expect to see a little more and I think that will calm the other side of him is he's not a you know it's not a jackson chario on the brewers it's not a
- 9:57[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I don't want to say one to Frank, but I guess I'm going wander franco in the rage when he was there.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_04]: He's in a loaded line up.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_02]: He's got the hell around him.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_04]: You know, it's like Ellie on the red.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_04]: He's got like what TJ for Dell.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_04]: He's a great player, but he's like seven home.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_04]: He's going to hit fifteen home runs and have twenty five steels and hit two nine.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_04]: Like he's not asked to carry this line.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_05]: He's not the guy.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_04]: We got, I mean, John Carlos stands there.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_04]: You got gold Schmidt.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_04]: You got a lot of guys.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_04]: So he's not
- 10:19[SPEAKER_04]: It's so hard to see that, right?
- 10:20[SPEAKER_04]: He's not asked to be in that role.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_04]: That's all I'm trying to say.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_03]: Well, you keep us up for our next segment here.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_03]: I've heard a rumor, and I don't know if you heard about this.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_03]: I am that these two Zach and Kern nailed down a giant deal last week in the hobby on a super factor.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_03]: I think I heard the name a second ago.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_03]: So I'll let you two touch on that.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_03]: I heard that there was a big card deal that happened.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_05]: There was a deal we've been working on for Hello and Zach.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_05]: Like, there have been talking about for like six plus months.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, we can after the last time I got on here.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it would be, if the card world had a, you know, ESPN bottom line, it would have, would have got the, do, do, do, do.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_04]: It would have, breaking news would have came down.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_05]: So I acquired from Zack in the trade, the Jackson Chariobome first super auto, the card that I've been wanting for a long time.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_05]: And we finally made it work.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_05]: There were a lot of different variations of the deal discussed, some cash, some cash trade, multiple versions of cash trade,
- 11:23[SPEAKER_05]: down to multiple versions of just a trade and we finally got it done all via trade straight straight trade old school straight trade deal whoa okay is it off the table of what was traded here like because we can go into it a little bit Gary we actually had it at deal in place probably a month earlier but Gary decided he was a murderer because he kills deals it was actually that's all right
- 11:52[SPEAKER_05]: There was a deal one of variations was a car that Gary and I went on together and so we ended up doing that deal separately was Zach.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_05]: We sold that card to Zach.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_05]: So and it's separately.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_05]: So we ended up being able to do our straight trade deal without, you know, well, for the most part without kind of Gary included.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_04]: We was a little bit.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_04]: It's like I saw that the Durant deal ends up being at seventeen trade.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_04]: NBA, they said they came down.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_04]: I got alert this weekend.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_04]: It was a record.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_04]: This ended up being if you think about this is a very it's kind of like a three, four team trade in a way.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_04]: We also there's a card in there that we split fifty fifty interest on that was part of the deal.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_04]: So current I have that together now.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_04]: I picked up a chariot wreck in the deal.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_04]: I got the Bazana super, which I've wanted for a long time.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_04]: I think I'm the only.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_05]: So it's one of those deals that think that I mean, I think you walked away happy, right?
- 12:53[SPEAKER_05]: And
- 12:54[SPEAKER_05]: I walked away feeling really good, too.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_05]: And I think that's truly, it sounds cliche, but that's the idea.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_05]: That's how you know it's a good deal.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_05]: Is that you both think you won the deal or you both feel happy about the deal?
- 13:06[SPEAKER_05]: And if you feel it's fair, and you know, of all the different variations that we discussed over the course of several months, I didn't really feel this way about any of those variations.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_05]: It was always something that I didn't like about it and vice versa, probably for Zack that he didn't like about it.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_05]: And we were finally able to
- 13:24[SPEAKER_05]: kind of make it work and to where we both walked away feeling good about it, it made sense for me, it made sense for Zach, given what I have in my current collection, what I want the to get rid of and what I and and same same goes for Zach, you know, like my my thought processes, you know, I do have conviction on Cheerio, you know, not having the season that I probably would like, right, but like I still believe in in Jack's Cheerio and
- 13:48[SPEAKER_05]: I now have this three best cards in existence, between the moment first, the debut patch and the top's chrome, which I ended up buying back from the owner that sold out to on auction.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_05]: So I could have all three.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_05]: And you know, in turn, I was able to, you know, I gave up the Cheerio red and my thought process was I can limit my exposure on Cheerio.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_05]: If I had that red still, the idea behind the bus I was, well, if I got the value that I was happy with from Zach on that,
- 14:18[SPEAKER_05]: which I did, I'd be fine letting that go.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_05]: There were some other cards, some wallcotts in the deal as well that, you know, I have, I mean, it's some good prices on and I have more than enough than I still believe in wallcot, but the fact that I'm not out of wallcot by any stretch of the imagination, I felt fine doing that.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_05]: And there were some other cards in there that, you know, the same type of deal I have, my, my reasonings as to why I felt comfortable giving a month.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, the key was we were, I'm sorry, men.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_04]: We were talking for a while.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_04]: We figured out what the deal breaker was.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_04]: We got creative and we just said, hey, how about we split this upside, make the values work and the deal was done.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_04]: And like Eric said, like I still have three red charios.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_04]: We're both heavy in the market.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_04]: So it's cool deal because we both want each other to succeed too.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_04]: So I thought that was pretty fun about it.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_04]: Pretty nice about it.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_04]: And we got to meet each other in person for the first time in Hangout, like two hours.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_04]: So that was awesome.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_03]: What's funny about this deal is it kind of reminds me of the major league baseball trade deadline that's coming.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_03]: This deal was definitely out of deadline.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_03]: Like y'all had been working on this so long that you see they're going to happen or not.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_05]: Zach was getting pissed at that day that day we finally agreed to it.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_05]: He was like, there was that one card that I did not want to give up and he's, you know, then he starts.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_05]: Zach's texting me.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_05]: He's like, you know what, I don't want this.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_05]: I don't want that.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_05]: I don't want any of these bullshit.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_05]: And then he's like, I'll call you in forty five minutes.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_05]: So he calls me and we finally we hash that over that.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_05]: It just proves what a phone call can do.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_05]: You know, we're sitting here.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_05]: We had one phone call or two before that over the course of the month, but like we're going back and forth and text message finally called me.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_05]: We got on the phone.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_05]: We hashed out in what thirty forty minutes and it was done deal.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_04]: We probably hashed it out in about thirty seconds, but the phone call was forty minutes because we were talking.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, sure.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_04]: You can try to remove remover mirror as me, and I don't like that.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_04]: I didn't like that.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_02]: I don't like that.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_02]: Here's what I like about this.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_02]: I love the fact that this is a great trade.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_02]: And you know that says to me, when you deal with straight trades, you're dealing with people who collect cards.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_02]: Because people who are just interested in like quick turn and stuff like that, like you can't trade anything in the market anymore.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_02]: It's so hard.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_02]: Like you go to card shows.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, hey, man, which being straight, no, you know, hey, which you ain't no.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_02]: There's so much is just a demand on cash deals.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_02]: Trade deals to me remind me like when I was a kid.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_02]: I was a character in your friend, a fan, my best friend was a Dale Murphy fan.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_02]: And every time I got a Dale Murphy, I knew I was going to get a carrot from him.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 16:39[SPEAKER_02]: Like, and that to me, it brings back a little bit of the innocence and like the childhood nature of the hobby.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_02]: Like this is of course a massive deal, but like I like that about hearing you guys talk about this.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_02]: It makes me go, yeah, that actually feels healthy and right in the hobby.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I mean, there was no catch exchange to we met up and we literally traded cards, you know, it was like a level of trust either like I needed was I didn't feel like a current was trying to screw me.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think he felt like I was trying to screw me either.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_04]: It was just like it was fun because yeah, but I was hanging for too long.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_04]: It was in my head that they call my we got to do this.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_04]: This today, or we're not doing it, I just got it.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_04]: It was hanging in the back of my mind, you know, but yeah, it was really fun.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_03]: For a level of secrecy, there's other cards that were involved here.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_03]: I was a three, it was a three way trade.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_03]: We're not going to talk about that just for the sake of keeping some of these cards private of who owns what, but there's been some big cards move in here.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_03]: There was a big three way trade.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_03]: So Dirtna Witzky was moved, but there was some other big players moved along this trade as well.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_03]: So I will keep that for another another show.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_04]: I don't want anyone to know what I paid for the other card or how I got it to.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_04]: It people will just make fun of it.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_03]: You're a secret.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_03]: Your secret is safe, man.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_03]: We're keeping it for that for another episode.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_02]: So guys, the congrats on the trade deal.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_02]: The earn congrats on the traffic.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_02]: That's a big deal for you.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_02]: You know, Zack, sort of like you picked up some monster, you know, prospects, whoopers in the deal.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_02]: And so it sounds like everybody, like you said, did well.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_02]: Good little, good little vibes going on.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_02]: Guys, you know, we want to just kind of open shop and just talk today about a variety of different things.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_02]: And I know one of the things we wanted to kind of kick off with, current, you want to kind of make that announcement and transition and just hot topics.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I mean, it's pretty fresh in my mind just because I guess the news kind of publicly broke this morning about eBay options in that there's going to be, I guess, a trial of extended dating with certain training cards.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_05]: And it's kind of fitting that we have Zach on here today.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_05]: plan for that reason.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_05]: But I think, you know, there's been a lot of reaction in the in hobby world on social mixed feelings, whether you're a buyer or a seller.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_05]: I think the feelings are, you know, going to go to differ here.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_05]: But I think the big sense to have an open discussion here on that, especially given Zach PC sports cards, you are PC and, you know, one of the biggest designers and sellers on eBay.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_05]: I'd love to hear your opinion and I'd love to hear Matt and Gary your opinions as well.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_05]: Because it's it's interesting.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_05]: Back what are your thoughts?
- 19:04[SPEAKER_04]: I obviously, right, we're in the business of selling people stuff at the best in fair prices, right, the most we can get.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_04]: So I obviously love the idea.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_04]: It's funny how this happened today and it's just kind of serendipity, but we have been working with eBay on developing them.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know if I'm going to want to say there legally or not, but we're involved in this program.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_04]: So we will be in the first pilot.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_04]: It would, did they say what day it was going to start?
- 19:29[SPEAKER_04]: Officially, there's been not that I've seen.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_04]: We are going to be involved in this first pilot program.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_04]: We love it.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_04]: It's basically to try to counteract snipers in a way, but not really because all the snipers will still go through.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_04]: It's just to kind of get with the times.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, look at all.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_04]: They do extend the bidding.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_04]: Look at PWCC.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_04]: They do extend the bidding.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_04]: Look at gold and they do it every auction house does extending bidding.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_04]: It's that the bidding.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_04]: There have been so many times as a designer where someone will message you about a high-end card of ours or look like, hey, I was trying to bid or I would have been higher.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_04]: I was going to bid a thousand dollars higher and sold here.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_04]: And the goal is to get those bits on your guys' cards and our cards and everyone's because you want to sell your cards for what you think they're worth.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_04]: When you sell a card,
- 20:14[SPEAKER_04]: You're trying to get the most you can get for it, correct?
- 20:16[SPEAKER_04]: You're not trying to sell it for less than you think you can.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, that's the question.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, and everyone, I even as a collector, we spoke about collecting before.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_04]: I love collecting cards.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_04]: I started in nineteen ninety two, Brian Taylor.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_04]: My dad got me this set.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_04]: I love numbers, the back of the cards.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_04]: One of the things I love about cards and maybe this, I don't think this makes me a bad guy is that I think they're going to be worth more.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_04]: If all these cards had no value in the market,
- 20:40[SPEAKER_04]: They wouldn't be in the same to me.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_04]: And that doesn't mean I have cards from nineteen ninety six in my collection still.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_04]: That's thirty years ago now, which makes me feel old.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_04]: But the point is, you want to see your cards go up in value, not down.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_04]: You want to see your cards sell for the most they can.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_04]: you want to see you want to you want to feel like the peace of mind that something wasn't handled correctly or something that everything was handled correctly I'm sorry and that money wasn't left in the table because you made some mistake right so eBay will probably knows that a lot of times the top like whatever your max bid on something is I bid five thousand but it ends at four or four hundred that there's a lot of juice left there that people are missing because
- 21:22[SPEAKER_04]: There's no chat.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_04]: You bid once, four, four, four, four, four, four, four, four, four, four, hundred.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_04]: I demands there's three seconds left.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, man, right after it ends is a buyer.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_04]: Let's look at it from the buyers perspective too.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_04]: I really wanted that card.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_04]: I wouldn't have been higher, but I would have gone higher.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_04]: I thought I was going to get a steal.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_04]: Well, this kind of should cancel all that out.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_04]: This decision take that uncertainty off the table.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_04]: To me, that's what this is doing.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what your guys are doing.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'll chime in.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_02]: So to me, this whole extended bidding thing, like it feels more refined to me, right?
- 21:54[SPEAKER_02]: And more of like a, if you have two guys that are interested, it lets the gentleman kind of go at the asset that they feel like they want rather than this last minute.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's more of a gentleman's game.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_02]: And it takes out a lot of the nonsense that happens with the shield bidding and stuff like that.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know if something I shouldn't talk about, but I'm going to talk about it because it happens.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_02]: You know, the mean people just throw and get sell the accounts to go out there and bid cards up to come out and protect your value.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_02]: Like, these kinds of things happen in the high.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, we all know it.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_02]: We might as well go ahead and say it.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_02]: And if we're able to put some kind of protocol in place, hopefully, you know, help deter some of that kind of thing.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_02]: I think that that is healthy.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 22:33[SPEAKER_02]: And so to me, it's a refined move to kind of elevate the the gentleman's not of the hobby.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, so I question for you.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_05]: So because I don't know exactly how it's going to work that extended bidding, right?
- 22:45[SPEAKER_05]: But like Matt to your point, I hear you.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_05]: What's to stop and again, playing devil's advocate here?
- 22:50[SPEAKER_05]: I don't.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_05]: Know what is the stop somebody that's was planning on shield bidding right from you know before that two minutes is up just putting in a max bid of say fifty five hundred dollars to get that number up right and then the letting two other people go at it or one other person put one extra bid on there like what's stopping them from before that two minutes to still put that number that high number
- 23:12[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I think the big thing they're doing there is the auto payment, right?
- 23:15[SPEAKER_04]: So people bid it up, you win, you're paying for it.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_05]: And if you're holding people to do that though, because I see it sometimes, but not always.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_04]: So it's a work in progress.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_04]: There's certain things that slow it down.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_04]: So when you have a deal with anyone who have like an agreement with you, Kenna can't say, I'm not trying to get in trouble.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_04]: But some people have combined shipping policies, which cause an issue, that's a big thing.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_04]: Actually, that's our biggest thing with it.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_04]: is making sure the combined shipping policies work.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_04]: It's auto pay pay right away.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_04]: Think about a lot of the cards we sell are five ten fifty bucks and then people getting charged five five seventy five shipping instead of fifty cent shipping for the additional item.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_04]: So trying to work work rounds on that.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_04]: I think also for the most part the auto pay is correct.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_04]: It's it's doing great.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_04]: But sometimes it will say it's autopay and I will get a alert that this failed the payment method failed and I don't really know.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_04]: But I guess there's ways around it that the idea is like serial like offenders and stuff will be kicked off eBay.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_03]: You got it.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_03]: Hey question question on this whole thing.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not I'm not really knowledgeable about what y'all are talking about being that it's coming out and it's new is this program that you're talking about the two minute extension you bid a card in the last two minutes it extends if you bid it again in the two minutes is it extend again or is it only a two minute extension totals it keep extending as bids or receive or what what is the plan there because that's what I'm not I'm not it'll be like golden or
- 24:45[SPEAKER_03]: They keep extending those two minutes of resets yeah and is it is it going to show up on that card and say
- 24:53[SPEAKER_03]: this specific card is one of those type of options.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_03]: How are you gonna know?
- 24:57[SPEAKER_03]: But for my standpoint, what this is gonna do is if you see this pop up, that says that it's an extended bidding card, what's gonna happen is people are gonna slow play the shit out of even more than they already are, right?
- 25:09[SPEAKER_03]: And so it's gonna be a slow play game.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_03]: And then when people get an extended, it's gonna be an absolute war zone.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_03]: Now, I think what this does is, though, in my opinion,
- 25:20[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's going to work very, very positively for people that are strategically selling cards at the right time of the day, in the right time of the week.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_03]: The people that run that program and run it at twelve o'clock on today on a Monday, those cards are going to sit back and not have gotten the same kind of bids going in, and the extending is not going to help them as much.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_03]: But I believe from your standpoint, I think, like you said, who is going to stop buying from eBay because of this?
- 25:51[SPEAKER_03]: Nobody, because that's where all the cards are.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_03]: I just saw somebody post the other day and I think it was, I think it was brilliant, actually.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_03]: Did y'all see that stat that he posted the other day?
- 26:01[SPEAKER_03]: The trading card sales per platform, where it showed the person like the millions of dollars of activity so far?
- 26:08[SPEAKER_03]: It was like fanatics was second for the first time I think ever and it was like seventeen million or whatever they did last month.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_03]: And eBay did like two hundred fifty million or something last month.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_03]: It's not even close because that's where the cards are.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_03]: So where are people going to continue to bid cards?
- 26:23[SPEAKER_03]: They're going to continue to buy at eBay.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_03]: All this does in my opinion, it helps the sellers.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_03]: And to me, when it helps the sellers, that's great because that helps the card market.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_03]: If cards are selling higher, people have more ROI.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_03]: Guess what?
- 26:38[SPEAKER_03]: people are happy.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't see how this is negative at all in my opinion.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_05]: Most of the, you know, I think most of the people have said about this that I've seen in the short period of time hours, so since it's come out is that people won't be able to snipe, right?
- 26:53[SPEAKER_05]: And won't be able to, you know, steal cards that she prizes.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_05]: From my perspective, like, yeah, you can find someone option that you get a good price, but the snipes come to me and somebody lists a bite in how card.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_05]: Best offer at a low price that doesn't know the market that it's not a com for and you're sniping it at buy it now You know, it's listed too low instead of making that offer you see for competing offers and you go boom you bit it like those are my snipes at least personally, you know I'm not saying that those don't exist on auction they do but I kind of like
- 27:22[SPEAKER_05]: I kind of like the extent of bidding to be honest with you, even as a buyer because I think it's going to take the bullshit out of the way of the people that are just bidding on cards because they have that same card or just like they're going to be held more accountable from what it's accessing at least like I want real bitters in there and I want people that
- 27:39[SPEAKER_05]: are genuinely beating on the card.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I couldn't agree with you more about the argument as far as options in the way it goes now.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_03]: The bottom line is if a player you've got, let's see, who's the hottest player right now that you can think of.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_03]: Let's say, let's go.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_03]: James Wood, Jacob Miserowski, guys like that.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_03]: Jacob Miserowski from the previous week, Chase Burns before that Paul schemes last year.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, there's all kinds of examples.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_03]: When those cars are up for sale, there are no bargains to be found, right?
- 28:11[SPEAKER_03]: And if it's a card that's in high demand or someone's someone's looking for, there's no bargain to be found.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_03]: Where the bargains are found on auction are the guys that have kind of been forgotten.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_03]: You might find a Jason Dominguez right now to deal.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_03]: So it's not going to matter that there was an extended auction anyway.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_03]: So I think where the extended auction really is going to play as these high demand cards, like a, for example, like Pania right now, for example, right?
- 28:37[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody wants Pania.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody wants McGonagul.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody wants Connor Griffin.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_03]: Those guys are already in high demand.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_03]: It's just going to make it even more demand.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_03]: And to me, that's positive for us and for the card space.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_05]: Also, as a buyer, there's been times as Zack suggested earlier in the podcast, I wish I went higher on a card at that last second, right?
- 28:59[SPEAKER_05]: Like, can I regret not doing so?
- 29:01[SPEAKER_05]: So I'll now have that opportunity.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, I don't get me wrong.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_05]: I see both sides, but that happens more often than not with me.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_05]: crap I tried to I tried to snip it right like it tried to steal it at the price that I wanted and how many times does that happen to you guys people out there like you want that extra opportunity maybe it's one more bid you have and that got backs out in the two minutes like it's an extra two minutes big deal so it maybe it's longer but yeah the mayor of super last year in eBay I was the second high bidder I was like oh I'm not gonna go above twenty five it's over twenty six I don't know if people know who got that down the road or if that was on the show I don't know but
- 29:37[SPEAKER_04]: Or I could say is, I would have been in a really great spot how I won that and won the next bid.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_04]: And if it was extended, I probably would have won it.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_04]: Because I would have, I think you would have to talk myself up and be like, hey, I want this.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_04]: Like, you know, sometimes when you're when you're swinging for the fences in life, you patch yourself and it's five hundred dollars or it's
- 29:56[SPEAKER_04]: or it's an extra hour of work or something.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_04]: You look at the mirror, you're like, fuck am I doing if I'm going for this, I'm going to pay a little bit extra.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_04]: If I hit, I'm hit, you know, I don't know.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_04]: That's how I think about it.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_05]: Exactly.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_05]: No, a hundred, a hundred percent Zack.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_05]: And I was I was actually thinking about this this weekend randomly thought in that somebody had asked me, you know, some advice on, you know, getting into the hobby and
- 30:20[SPEAKER_05]: you know, getting the cards that they want.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_05]: And one of the pieces of advice that I gave was, don't be afraid to set the highest comp if you have conviction in the player or if it's a card you really want.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_05]: Don't be afraid.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_05]: Somebody has to do it at some point.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_05]: Somebody has to set the, there's always somebody that's going to set the highest comp if the market's going to go up.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_05]: And if that player is training upwards, like, you might as well be it and get the card that you want.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_05]: Ultimately, eventually, the idea is that that won't be the highest comp.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_03]: I'll give you an example of that right now.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, and I'm going to put this out there and we can edit this if we want to edit this.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_03]: There's two James Wood Reds that are out there, right?
- 30:58[SPEAKER_03]: And you all know about them and we're just having a conversation right now that are out there.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_03]: And this is exactly that situation.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_03]: I've loved James Wood.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_03]: I've learned from the beginning, but the price is getting to a point where it's like a little math asked about it yesterday and James Wood.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, I want to buy a gold.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_03]: I can buy a gold PSA ten for eight point five.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_03]: Should I do it?
- 31:16[SPEAKER_03]: You're getting to that point with James Wood right now where there's one or two results, right?
- 31:21[SPEAKER_03]: You either hit and you hit big and you put your nuts on the table and you win or that you put it on the table and they get smashed because if you're buying a James Wood orange last night, so for thirteen thousand dollars last night, it was all for without a great autograph.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_03]: And so it's all for thirteen grand last night PSA ten and so now you're sitting here and going okay if James would and what's not even call them Aaron judge let's just call him any of that those type of place let's say he's in remotely in that category what is the PSA ten orange worth of Aaron judge today?
- 31:56[SPEAKER_04]: on a drain on a screen, meaning to a hundred twenty depending on all his autos are good, so probably a hundred plus.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_03]: So there's your upside right on a player like James Wood.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_03]: What is a Ronald Acunia?
- 32:06[SPEAKER_03]: So that's the question of James Wood at this point.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_03]: Is where does he go from here?
- 32:11[SPEAKER_03]: If you have that conviction on James Wood, you can take that right up with him, but there's also that risk.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_03]: where if you go in right now and he is not, he's just a flash in the pan, you're sitting back holding twenty percent of that value year from now and it that happens very quickly once a player gets to this point.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_03]: The rise either continues like PCA or you get smashed like and so that's it's a really interesting time for a player like him.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_03]: because everybody knows him now, right?
- 32:41[SPEAKER_03]: And like, where are the values going from here?
- 32:44[SPEAKER_03]: And I think, obviously, there's the chance of James Wood is what I think he's gonna be.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_03]: I'm gonna have a lot of FOMO that I didn't buy those two additional reds.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you know, you look at certain assets, right?
- 32:55[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I was having a conversation with a buddy of my name, David.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_02]: He's really smart guy.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_02]: And he talks a lot about assets.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_02]: And it's just about holding assets.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_02]: At some point in time, you have to look at cards as assets.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_02]: You know, a hundred years ago, when somebody had purchased that house, it, you know, the land that you're sitting in in South Hampton, Eric, you know, with somebody who purchased that land for whatever value, right?
- 33:14[SPEAKER_02]: Gary, you're the beach right now, the oceanfront property.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you look at owning an asset that is not, they don't make any more of them.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 33:22[SPEAKER_02]: And so at some point in time you talk about show, how you talk about judge, you talk about mental, you talk about somebody's crazy, high asset, you know, type cards.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_02]: It literally becomes about who cares what it's worth, you own that asset and nobody else does.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_02]: And so this type of bidding and this type of kind of refined asset holding store of value type conversation, that's where it makes it really interesting.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_02]: It's not about what it's worth today.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_02]: It's about owning the asset itself.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_02]: And that is totally a perceived value based on, you know, whatever market conditions or whatever.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_02]: So to me, when you're talking about cards like this, it gets, it moves into a separate realm when you've got a guy like showhayer judge.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's no longer about why I can buy his card and make this on it.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_02]: It's like I actually own an air in judge red.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_02]: There's five assets like this in the world.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_02]: It cannot be replicated.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_02]: He's likely gonna go down as one of the greatest baseball players in
- 34:18[SPEAKER_02]: our lifetime replace that asset.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_02]: Does it make sense like so?
- 34:20[SPEAKER_02]: I think that that's where the conversation goes on a lot of these high-end cards.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_02]: It's not about buying and selling and trading.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_02]: It's about actually holding a tangible asset that can't be replicated.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, a hundred percent that and but that the question always becomes when are they really an asset at the player you know like when is it when is it that like for example how many guys have we seen before that have gone out the first year to and then you look back in year three four five and you go damn man remember how good he was there for a year to give you an example look at look at the brazen Jared Kellenck
- 34:57[SPEAKER_03]: a Celtic had a huge year with the Mariners.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_03]: Oh man, Celtic was a first Trump pick.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_03]: He sucks.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_03]: He's in AAA.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he can't even be a bad boy for the Braves.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you know, and you look at some of these players and there's that risk and you've got at some point though in this game, you got to know how you play the game.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_03]: And I think we've talked about it every week, have a strategy of what you're trying to do and have percentages.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_03]: And for me, the way I'm playing the game now is I like to get them earlier.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_03]: And I like to sell them before they get to that asset level, but when it comes to a guy like wood where I have that much conviction.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_03]: I'll almost almost dip back in and say, you know what, I'm willing to have ten percent risk on him.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_03]: And if I go down with the ship, I go down because I believe in the asset.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_04]: The key to what Gary sang is you could also win at all those different levels.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_04]: Like I like to buy them really more when I think they're more asset at this point.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_04]: I don't want to do the deep level research.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_04]: I want to see a guy like and think, hey, this guy's going to have a market unto himself, right?
- 35:56[SPEAKER_04]: James Wood, we're trying to see James Wood or Aaron judge.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_04]: Robyn James Wood is just James Wood.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_04]: James Wood, sorry, I'm mixing the actor up there.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_04]: But, you know, he's James Wood.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_04]: We're not comparing them to anyone else.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_04]: That's where you're going for.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_04]: And I think like, as far as when Eric said before about like the cops and worrying about the cops, you know, if you, what you should buy is what you believe in.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_04]: And obviously, you always try to get the best deal possible, but don't get your head caught up on the best deal, because then you're going to end up missing what you needed.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_04]: You're going to miss the Jackson Merrill Super.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_04]: You're going to miss
- 36:26[SPEAKER_04]: Whatever, if you believe in something, that's what you should buy.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_05]: You know how many times, you know, and I'm sure Gary and Matt and Zack, you'll say the same thing.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_05]: You know how many times I bought a card specifically a super that I paid the price that I didn't feel comfortable at, that I thought it was more than it actually was valued at that day.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_05]: Like if I tried to pay the price that I thought it was worth or based on this formula that I go off of on a one or one, right?
- 36:56[SPEAKER_05]: I'd probably have zero in my hand.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_05]: You know, you have to pay up sometimes for that asset or for that specific card.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_05]: As far as I'm concerned, there's three safe assets in baseball right now.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_05]: And maybe I want to see what your guys thoughts are, but there's three safe assets as far as I'm concerned.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_05]: It's Aaron Judge.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_05]: It's Showhail Tony and it's Mike Trout.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_05]: Nobody else is safe right now.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_05]: Thoughts.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not saying you can't make money on any other guys, but safe
- 37:22[SPEAKER_05]: safe safe.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_04]: I would disagree a little I mean those are I mean there's still a lot of fluctuation and risk there I mean not that they're not gonna have value but oh it's on you're paying a lot of money to get it.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_04]: I think a guy like a coonio, you can't lose on at the current market.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_04]: He's not where he was.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_04]: I think like, you know, the thing is, Kershaw shares or they don't really have Bowman chrome stuff.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_04]: They do actually for a lender actually does, but some older guys like that, like, come on, Kershaw's not going down.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_04]: He's it.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_04]: He's my trout as a pitcher in a way.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_04]: Then you got
- 37:52[SPEAKER_04]: I like a coonia at his current values because they're like half of what they used to be in the guise of beast.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_04]: I'm that being said, you're probably not getting a deal right now in the meter.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_04]: They're probably jumping.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_05]: You can buy those right now at current market value and it's what I mean is like you're you're you're holding those cards, right?
- 38:08[SPEAKER_05]: Let's just say you're holding those cards and for five years.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_05]: Right.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_05]: Like you don't have to worry about the bottom dropping out from under you.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_05]: You don't have to worry about you could just put them away and they're going to either hold value or appreciate and value from those five years.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I mean?
- 38:26[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, exactly.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_05]: Like some people might include Bobby Witt.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_05]: I think it's I think he's the hell of a ball player.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_05]: I think it's too early to consider him in that level.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_05]: You know what I mean?
- 38:35[SPEAKER_04]: They might have been steal that the current price is he's awesome, but he's very hot.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_05]: They could.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_04]: What about that?
- 38:40[SPEAKER_05]: That's safe.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_05]: If it ends up.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, what about price?
- 38:42[SPEAKER_04]: Arthur.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_04]: I think that's a good one.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_04]: I think that's I don't see him going down really.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_02]: Well, the problem with Harper is, is like Harper, in my opinion, had so much hype early in his career with winning World Series and getting the MVP's.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_02]: And he's kind of like in this Twilight mode right now where he's still out there, but he's not really doing Bryce Harper things.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 39:04[SPEAKER_02]: What's interesting?
- 39:04[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I think his cards from trout though.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_04]: If you think about it, if we're putting them in that asset club.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't, I mean, I personally wouldn't put Harper in the same conversation with Trout personally.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_02]: I would, I would have him as like a tear down.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 39:20[SPEAKER_02]: Almost like a Freddie Freeman type.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_02]: Somebody like that.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, I love this conversation, guys, because I think ultimately, I think we look at this and you talk about a tonney, you talk about judge and I love both of those guys and what they've done, but their prices right now where they're going to go in the future, they're already super high, right?
- 39:40[SPEAKER_03]: So there's a lot of helium in those prices right now that could come out of those in the future.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_03]: Look at a guy, I like looking at the guys like to tell Marte, you know, could tell Marte might probably the best second base in baseball right now.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_03]: You can buy oranges of Kitell Marté for three and four hundred bucks.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_03]: Getting no respect.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_03]: You look at guys like Bryce Harper who you alluded to and you look at these other like mooky bets.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_03]: Guys that are going to be remembered in this generation is players that are hot.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_03]: These are Hall of Famers right when we talk about Harper and mooky bets and Freddie Freeman.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_03]: It's those guys to me that one day.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_03]: will I don't know that in in I think a tonion judge could be different obviously that's why their prices are where they are because they could be the Mickey Manals of an era right so you look back on a go there the next Mickey Manals you're more the gold but I think there's so much but there's so much value in guys like a tell marté and tell somebody explain that to me wild to tell marté still trading so low
- 40:36[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, can tell Marta is trading low.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, this is the way I was because nobody cares.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_04]: I don't have a better way of putting it necessarily nobody care.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_04]: Nobody gives a shit about could tell Marta.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_04]: And I know that's that's not a
- 40:48[SPEAKER_05]: I guess Gary's question is why does nobody give a shit.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_05]: I don't have the answer, right?
- 40:53[SPEAKER_04]: Diamondbacks, second baseman, the people care about Corbin Carroll age.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_04]: He wasn't he didn't have a lot of hype coming into it.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_04]: He was a good like he was a good hitting prospect.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_04]: Basically, twenty four.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I was buying those cards then he was a good hitter, but people didn't like
- 41:08[SPEAKER_04]: He didn't have like huge his red.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_04]: I remember someone sold his red for like eight hundred bucks.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_04]: Then that was like a big deal.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_04]: Also, they're fifteen years old.
- 41:16[SPEAKER_04]: They're from eleven years ago, so there aren't as many on the market for people to trade.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_04]: So right, you need to have.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_03]: Well, here's here's the other thing that this market.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_03]: We've it's a height market, right?
- 41:27[SPEAKER_03]: What's being pumped?
- 41:28[SPEAKER_03]: It's what's being hyped?
- 41:29[SPEAKER_03]: Get Albert Puhols.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_03]: Do you all remember at the end of his career?
- 41:33[SPEAKER_03]: Because I remember right before he retired, I was getting heavy back into cards again.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_03]: His card prices had plummeted.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, every day, because he wasn't playing well, do you all remember what happened with his card prices?
- 41:45[SPEAKER_03]: They kept going down and down and down.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_03]: When that dude retired, it was like, all of a sudden, his prices were up again.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_03]: Because he's going to be a Hall of Famer.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_04]: He started hitting the home runs two towards the end, like right before retired so they jumped then too.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_04]: Like right there was the race for seven hundred.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_03]: Well, you look at a guy like Tray Turner, who we've talked about.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_03]: Tray Turner's he's batten three hundred against this year.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_03]: He steals bases.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_03]: He's got a four year walk.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_02]: I've did the all star game again, by the way.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_03]: makes no sense.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and again, these are these are the kind of conversations to me that like if people are willing to have them and willing to be on like this is where you can find value but Zach to your point.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think what Kern saying is is like, you know, your harpers, your trouse, your judge, those guys, they are the gold standard in the sense that like they are the guys that people talk about when you talk about baseball.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 42:33[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, there's two conversations that I think we're both real having here.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_05]: There's opportunities to make money on guys that could be potential hallfamers whose markets are down in good entry points.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_05]: What I'm talking about if
- 42:47[SPEAKER_05]: I'm buying it forget price for this reason, right?
- 42:50[SPEAKER_05]: Gary, you talk about, uh, Brent's Pareto principle a time.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_05]: Well, cards are going to be worth something right now.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_05]: The safest cards in my opinion that I'm going to be worth something forget entry point right now in fifty hundred years from now, the three-safe, their three-safe guys, in my opinion, and it's my trout.
- 43:06[SPEAKER_05]: It's Shohail, Tony, and it's Aaron Judge.
- 43:09[SPEAKER_05]: But the scary thing is, that was my phone.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_05]: Do you really think Michael Drought still?
- 43:12[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, hands on to something there.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_04]: Hope you two in the Brown problem.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_04]: But the question I do think is trout still there and that's that's I think it makes it like interesting with what you're saying because if you were to say five years ago, trout's the only one, right?
- 43:25[SPEAKER_04]: I think and I think I get what you're saying.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_04]: I still think I put Harper in that class.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_04]: Gary said mookie Beth in that class, because those are cards really what I'm saying is I'm saying guys that I don't really see dropping.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_04]: I don't see Harper dropping below where he is.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_04]: I don't see mookie Beth dropping below where he is.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_04]: I don't see Clayton Kershra dropping below where he is.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_04]: Now, there is the higher asset class, you know, if you want to go Joe, Tony, those two might be the flagship.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_04]: They might be the mantle.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_04]: They might be the rules, but those other guys could still be Bob Gibson, they could still be Nolan Ryan, that's still, so I think they're in that same class, because I'm seeing when you say acid, I'm thinking more about stability and not losing your acid, but bottom fell out.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_04]: But that's where I'm looking at.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_03]: Well, it goes back to what, I mean, I want to make sure you mention something that is near and dear to my heart.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_03]: and what Brent mentions with the Pareto principle.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_03]: And to me, that's what my point is with Catel Marta.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_03]: That's what my point is with my point is with all these guys that and I can tell Marta is probably a bad example because he's not a future Hall of Famer at this point, but guys like Harper and other guys of this area, Jose Ramirez, you go after you look at their best cards, okay?
- 44:32[SPEAKER_03]: I'll challenge you to do this with
- 44:34[SPEAKER_03]: Mark McGuire, Barry Bonds, Frank Thomas, guys of previous generations.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_03]: And you look at their best cards, look at Chipper Jones.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_03]: I'm a brave guy.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_03]: Look at what their card values were trading for for twenty years ago.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_03]: Look at where they're trading today.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_03]: Because my point is not everybody can afford to go buy a big atony.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_03]: Not all of these atony cards are going to be worth anything.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_03]: Some of these rookie atony's that have nothing on them.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_03]: that are like late number to three thousand or unnumbered.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_03]: They're going to be, you're not going to wipe your ass with those.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I mean, it's finding good cards of guys of good players at a good price.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_05]: Zach, the reason I'm saying, I'm not including a guy like Harper in that.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_05]: If Bryce Harper were to retire right now, there is injury, you know, he had a career entering injury.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_05]: Guff bit.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_05]: He's not making a whole thing with a fifty two point three career war.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_05]: Mike Trout could retire tomorrow.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_05]: And he's the first ballot hole, Famer.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think Bryce Harper's a whole, a whole, Famer right now.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_05]: He retires.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_04]: I think he would get in crowd.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_04]: It's definitely a whole of Famer.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_04]: Or shows definitely a whole of Famer.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_04]: He bets.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_04]: Close.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_04]: He started.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_04]: He was a little older when he broke through because he sticks around pick.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_04]: No.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think I don't know that Harper statistics make the whole fam standards right now.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe I'm wrong.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_04]: But I'm talking with a career entering injury over tire, you know, how bands gets in so can you often's first ballot of that in that instance.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_04]: So I guess it's a different discussion, but
- 46:01[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I see where you're coming from.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_04]: I didn't trout's had a better career, but up to like three years ago.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_04]: Because I, well, the reason I'm challenging it is because like I always thought of trout the same exact way.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_04]: You know, and now his base autos BGS is like five six grand.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_04]: That was a one point.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_04]: That was like twenty five.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_04]: I paid twenty six thousand two hundred dollars for a BGS nine five ten mic trout two thousand nine.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_04]: true gem plus.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_04]: I paid that number granted look I've been trading the market a lot.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_04]: I still own that card because I've just I've never wanted to take a twenty thousand dollar bat.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, so we're talking safe active.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_04]: Was it was I playing in a fatty market or was it that the droughts went down?
- 46:40[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_04]: Do I think my trust first battle of
- 46:43[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just making a point there.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think what's, well, I think what's the thing about this, too, is like, I don't think we're going to understand the effect that the COVID and that era had on cards anyway.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I don't think it's going to take years for us to really gather how much like inflation was pumped into that market that was purely, purely hype.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 47:03[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I feel like we're kind of getting to a spot where there's some regularity, but there's still so much crazy inflation and hype pumped into this market.
- 47:12[SPEAKER_02]: And I think when you look at the vintage market, you look at older markets or whatever, like, nineties inserts, which is what we're into right now.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_02]: It becomes more about you actually hold a rare asset instead of, well, I just got a back if he was hot or whatever.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_02]: Like that to me is what drives that value long-term is the limited nature of the asset.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I know we've, we've hit on this a lot now.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_03]: And I think this brings up kind of the other topic we wanted to touch on today.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_03]: Because we can all agree to disagree on this topic.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_03]: We just talked about, but I think we can all agree on this right now.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_03]: This market right now is on frickin' fire.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_03]: And you look at how cool it is to me.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_03]: I saw the post the other day at the Hazes Modais Supercracker.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_03]: And you see that a chef, I think, got a California went into a shop, bought a pack or two, and pulled this card.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_03]: My question to y'all really is about number one, the Hazes Modais Supercracker.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_03]: Let's talk about the motto Superfactor.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_03]: What the value is, but also like, in general, and I'm just curious about this.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I've been holding my cards a little closer to the best recently in exiting cards that maybe I wouldn't have exit in the past, wondering that, are we too, Frothy?
- 48:21[SPEAKER_03]: But I mean, Zach, you live in this world.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, this is what you do for a living, like, where do you, I mean, but what the what fanatics is doing and what you all said, Matt, come and back from Fanatics Fest and
- 48:32[SPEAKER_03]: Where things are, it just seems like, man, where the market really is just starting to hit it strides.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_03]: So wanting to get you all's opinion on that, the body of superfactor.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_04]: The current market feels a lot better than it did in twenty twenty two, because we were coming up the coven years where people pain.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_04]: Zion based prison PSA tens were like a thousand dollars paid.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_04]: We were, we were PSA's biggest group submitters.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_04]: So at the time, we sold so many of those cards, seven hundred dollars, eight hundred dollars.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_04]: I remember buying like forty of them at like six hundred and then like he's got a hit in a thousand.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to be a genius.
- 49:04[SPEAKER_04]: And then they started going down.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_04]: I've submitted it.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_04]: But this feels a lot like people are paying these big numbers, but it feels like for the right cards, which to me makes me feel a lot more comfortable.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_04]: I want to, we would talk about the extended bidding.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_04]: There's one thing I want to say and we got to railed like
- 49:18[SPEAKER_04]: What Gary said, what everyone's saying is basically, it sounds like if you're selling through professional operation, it's gonna help you do great.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_04]: You're gonna be extended bit on eBay.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_04]: So plugging to myself, we are a great professional organization selling on eBay.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, so if you're selling cars at twelve thirty on a Monday, you're gonna get killed no matter when.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_04]: You use someone those who are doing part of the program.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_04]: look out for us.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_04]: Now back to what Gary's question was, I think it makes a lot more sense now and maybe I'm crazy.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, Gary's talking about these cards getting profit and sell them all.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_04]: It's not me just saying this to my business is horn or say that I believe in the market that I'm in.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_04]: A lot of those cards, Gary, things are frothy.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_04]: Some of them I bought, you know, so I'm putting my money where I'm math is I'm not buying these cards to say because I don't think it's real.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_04]: I wouldn't, I'm not, I'm like, hey, I need to
- 50:05[SPEAKER_04]: by a junior camera near a red, for example, I bought from Gary because I think the market's gonna like, it's bad.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's going up again.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_04]: I feel confident in that, but maybe I'm crazy.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_04]: Pern, do you have is the mod is the mod A?
- 50:19[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just gonna call me like eight thing mod A. It's the main super in Southampton.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_04]: That's what I want to know.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_04]: That's what I've been waiting for.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_05]: No, and it won't, and it won't be.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_05]: So I had a conversation before that whole top supposed to had a conversation with
- 50:33[SPEAKER_05]: with the guy who hit his names Eddie.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_05]: He happened to follow me and we struck off a conversation that congratulated him and I said obviously you know my next question and I had just figured clear I haven't been buying mod a not because I don't like mod as a player but I don't think his mark is over valued so I don't know
- 50:48[SPEAKER_05]: I don't own one money card, but that's a big card, and I had to inquire, and his response to me, Eddie, is that he's going to hold into a call-up, which is an interesting response to me.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_05]: He said, it's the biggest card he's owned, the card from, and he wants to capitalize.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_05]: And I respect that.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_05]: And you know, I said, okay, congratulations.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_05]: And then, you know, I kind of thought about it.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_05]: The only reason I offered it this up is because he had said, like, you know, he loves my collection.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_05]: And he, you know, follows me and whatnot.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_05]: I said, like, I was like, do you want my two cents like my opinion?
- 51:19[SPEAKER_05]: Um, or do you not care for it?
- 51:22[SPEAKER_05]: He's like, no, no, like, I want to hear this.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_05]: And I hope he doesn't mind me sharing this, but if he listens to the podcast, but I was like, you want my opinion, I was like, look, I'm not a buyer for the card.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_05]: I was like, so take this for what it's worth.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_05]: I was like,
- 51:34[SPEAKER_05]: You want to capitalize now sell the card now sell the card right this second is like my opinion is as market it's it's a huge gamble for you you're to gamble once an opening a box why gamble again right like selling a call up is especially specifically not necessarily the time like it could work out for me it could work out for him but
- 51:52[SPEAKER_05]: I bet you he gets a higher price right now.
- 51:54[SPEAKER_05]: If he sells it, then he will.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, he's going to get next years or two years from now's price.
- 52:00[SPEAKER_05]: He's going to get the up, so he can get the upside right now in my opinion, just to sell the card.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_05]: Like, that's my opinion.
- 52:06[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not a buyer for the card, so I'm not saying this to have you sell me the card.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not a buyer if you're moving it.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not a buyer.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_05]: You're going to get higher offer than I will be able to give you on this card.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_05]: It's like I appreciate it, you know, I'm in Bowman also, and I know the market, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_05]: I'm pretty firm on that.
- 52:23[SPEAKER_05]: I'm just gonna hold on to this card.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, great, good luck.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_05]: Like, Patrick, I don't know your situation, son of my business.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_05]: You know, so the card's not coming to me.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_05]: It doesn't seem like it's going anywhere, but I felt like I had to give my opinion in that if you, you know, given that he said I need to capitalize on this, I thought the way to capitalize was to sell the card right now where he didn't get the upside before waiting a year and a half.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_05]: Where that upside might not even exist anymore.
- 52:47[SPEAKER_05]: That was my opinion.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think I think kind of a theme or at least the fault that I have is that, you know, this market, this hobby is very interesting and it's ever changing.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_02]: And it's different now in twenty five than it was in twenty and he won when we were kids.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_02]: It's always changing.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_02]: The grading dynamic is changing.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 53:05[SPEAKER_02]: The prospecting game is changing.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_02]: When you have a Jackson holiday who has a tough day view, talk about this before, it hurts the prospecting game for people wanting to wait to call up.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_02]: And so there's an earlier delivery time on a guy in my opinion, that's what you're saying is when a guy is hype in the market.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_02]: But Gary, to your point that you've been playing, you've been playing this secondary tier game of guys you have conviction in after they've fallen once they get to a low than they can hit that secondary peak.
- 53:32[SPEAKER_02]: I think the beauty of this is, is for folks who educate themselves in the market and understand the changing dynamics.
- 53:38[SPEAKER_02]: This is where you capitalize.
- 53:40[SPEAKER_02]: This is where you take advantage of the market and you capitalize on knowledge of how it's shifting, how it's changing and you can be strategic and smart and come out well ahead.
- 53:49[SPEAKER_02]: But again, expecting things to be the way that they were and expecting things to turn out the way that they turned out the last three years like that's where you get burned.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_02]: You have to be ahead of the game and a lot of times gear in your point earlier.
- 54:02[SPEAKER_02]: Being ahead of the game is when you get your number, take it.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_03]: Well, and furthermore, for mod A, where he's in trouble on his value, is he's probably now the second best prospect in even its own class behind the spring.
- 54:15[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that puts him at a big disadvantage.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_03]: And when you've got a class like this class now, we talked about it last week with Arum where you've got McGonagul, absolutely tearing the cover off the ball.
- 54:27[SPEAKER_03]: You've got Quintero tearing the cover off the ball.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_03]: You got Zahir Hope killing it.
- 54:32[SPEAKER_03]: AJ Weatherhold killing it.
- 54:33[SPEAKER_03]: You've got all these guys killing it.
- 54:35[SPEAKER_03]: You got Connor Griffin killing it from the early release.
- 54:37[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know he's just going to be another guy really soon.
- 54:40[SPEAKER_03]: And to me, that's where the risk is there.
- 54:43[SPEAKER_03]: And so it was his name Eddie, as I just said the same ones.
- 54:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Eddie, sell a car buddy.
- 54:48[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's it's it's going to it.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm I may you may regret selling it in five years.
- 54:55[SPEAKER_03]: If my day becomes what he could become, but you're not in a regret in the next year.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_03]: Why how are you going to regret it?
- 55:01[SPEAKER_04]: How are you going to regret it?
- 55:02[SPEAKER_04]: Like he's going to get so much money if he sells it right now.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_04]: Her instead it best when he said it before.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_05]: What do you think he could get for that?
- 55:08[SPEAKER_04]: He already gambled once.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_04]: Why you gambling on top of the game?
- 55:12[SPEAKER_04]: You, you have no upside in that gamble, the second gamble.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_04]: It's going to go six figures right now.
- 55:16[SPEAKER_04]: If you, if you put it right there, I think it would go six figures because someone would be excited about it.
- 55:20[SPEAKER_04]: It is not a six figure card.
- 55:22[SPEAKER_04]: It's a fifty, sixty thousand dollar card.
- 55:23[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you're right.
- 55:24[SPEAKER_04]: You might go two hundred, two hundred, fifty thousand dollars.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_04]: You don't know.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_04]: Take the gamble.
- 55:28[SPEAKER_04]: If you want a gamble, like you're trying to set this upside, the option right now is the gamble for that upside.
- 55:32[SPEAKER_03]: Turn off me the other day.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_03]: He asked me, he said, what do you, what do you think the card is worth?
- 55:37[SPEAKER_03]: When we talked about it, I said, thirty five thousand dollars.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_03]: Max.
- 55:42[SPEAKER_04]: And in that part right now, it's worth fifty.
- 55:46[SPEAKER_03]: You got to pay a little extra for fifty or sixty.
- 55:49[SPEAKER_03]: It's a maybe it is worth maybe it is worth fifty, but you know what it's not worth a hundred.
- 55:54[SPEAKER_03]: And it's to go get a hundred.
- 55:56[SPEAKER_03]: He needs to get
- 55:57[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I would, I'd rather learn like I, I'll, I'll say I have Leo.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_04]: I'm happy I paid more for than that and it's this card will go for more than the Leo if he sold it right away.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_04]: He's not going to sell it right away.
- 56:09[SPEAKER_04]: So it's going to lose value.
- 56:11[SPEAKER_04]: And then when it does sell, it'll be forty thousand, it'll be twenty.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_04]: The thing is,
- 56:16[SPEAKER_04]: It's, it's what you say.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_04]: The best way to put it is you won the gamble already.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_04]: Why are you trying to lose it?
- 56:21[SPEAKER_04]: You won the gamble.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_04]: You literally won the best gamble.
- 56:24[SPEAKER_04]: You could hit his Luis Paine around the car.
- 56:26[SPEAKER_04]: And Marda is Kevin my ten and twenty seventeen everyone wanted Kevin my ten.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_04]: The guy that the GM got.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_04]: Man from baseball to sign.
- 56:33[SPEAKER_04]: Ronald a cool.
- 56:33[SPEAKER_04]: You was the second guy on that team.
- 56:35[SPEAKER_04]: Those were a hundred dollars.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_04]: He was thirty dollars for a base out of the up.
- 56:37[SPEAKER_04]: My ten was a hundred.
- 56:38[SPEAKER_04]: Everyone in my ten.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_04]: Red ten ten.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm picked fifteen thousand dollars for my ten that year.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_04]: You already nailed it.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_03]: Zach.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_03]: Zach Kevin my ten just waited my table the other day in Atlanta.
- 56:47[SPEAKER_03]: That's how far the fall is.
- 56:49[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he went from a hundred dollar boom in first.
- 56:52[SPEAKER_03]: That was just kidding.
- 56:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 56:54[SPEAKER_04]: That sounded good.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_04]: I think he made some money.
- 56:56[SPEAKER_04]: And I think what Ham said was also interesting, I forgot this conversation.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_04]: Like he was talking basically how there's all these different angles.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_04]: The interesting thing is, people get so set on doing it their way or has to be a certain way.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_04]: The thing is, you could make money at each of these different angles on a guy.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_04]: I really think that I have sold the most my trout, two thousand nine moments of my own that I've bought.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_04]: I just bought another refractive this week.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_04]: You're talking about trout.
- 57:19[SPEAKER_04]: I still have the one I paid twenty six thousand for.
- 57:21[SPEAKER_04]: That's the reminder.
- 57:22[SPEAKER_04]: That's why I haven't sold it.
- 57:23[SPEAKER_04]: Not the loss.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_04]: It's the reminder to not be greedy, but or not think that things are endless.
- 57:29[SPEAKER_04]: It's not going to go up forever.
- 57:30[SPEAKER_04]: You know, you sell selling at call up.
- 57:32[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just, this is my opinion.
- 57:33[SPEAKER_04]: Do so.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_04]: That is literally the worst fucking idea you could have.
- 57:36[SPEAKER_04]: And I hate to say this Eddie sounds like a nice guy.
- 57:38[SPEAKER_04]: The first of, what is call up?
- 57:40[SPEAKER_04]: Tell me when that is.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_04]: You know when a guy's getting called up?
- 57:42[SPEAKER_04]: Because you tell me when that is.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_04]: You can kind of perfectly.
- 57:44[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, he's going to get called up first.
- 57:45[SPEAKER_04]: We can tune.
- 57:45[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, what about this year?
- 57:47[SPEAKER_04]: This team doesn't like to call it guys up because they don't want to use it losing your eligibility.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_05]: And then they're might never be of call up.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_04]: That's the point.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_05]: They're like never be a call up.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_04]: They don't like to call a guy early.
- 58:00[SPEAKER_04]: They call him up three weeks early.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_04]: So this call came out of nowhere.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_04]: You got a mobilized.
- 58:04[SPEAKER_04]: This is not a car.
- 58:04[SPEAKER_04]: You're just listening on seven.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_04]: They are showing you bet.
- 58:06[SPEAKER_04]: You're going to send it to an auction house.
- 58:08[SPEAKER_04]: Because if you're going to call up and do this plan, this guy has, it's got to be perfect.
- 58:12[SPEAKER_04]: So you want it marketed.
- 58:13[SPEAKER_04]: You want to make sure it gets the extended bidding.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_04]: You want to make sure it reaches all the guys.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_04]: Now's the time.
- 58:17[SPEAKER_04]: You said sit straight up.
- 58:19[SPEAKER_03]: Well, thank you.
- 58:20[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you.
- 58:21[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you for watching the sports car CEO today, but this is not twenty twenty three and the call up is not where you make your money anymore.
- 58:29[SPEAKER_03]: We've said it all season long.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_03]: That's coming on, boys.
- 58:33[SPEAKER_04]: The what you make your money that the call up is you make your money once they've come up and they've hit you're on a clock went you're on a clock counting downward when the call up comes and it's taking pretty damn fast I like to buy guys I think are going to be top prospects they upcoming year so that's a lot of stuff I've purchased from you guys recently and others or I like to buy guys that are in the majors
- 58:55[SPEAKER_04]: a great time that you love a guy and he sucks the first two equities called up everyone's scared shitless because like your saying is called up the worst idea ever everyone's like oh I have something worth nothing now sell sell sell
- 59:06[SPEAKER_04]: by then two weeks later he gets hot.
- 59:08[SPEAKER_04]: They reach the old prices a month later.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_04]: They're higher than they were before.
- 59:11[SPEAKER_04]: So call up call of sucks.
- 59:13[SPEAKER_04]: That's the that's the point of the story leading up to call up is cash is beautiful.
- 59:17[SPEAKER_04]: All up is the worst love it.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_03]: And then if they go really good, but PCA, PCA, no one cared about him at call up.
- 59:25[SPEAKER_03]: You know Wilson, no one cared about him at call up.
- 59:28[SPEAKER_03]: That's like that song.
- 59:29[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 59:30[SPEAKER_03]: Now they love me.
- 59:31[SPEAKER_03]: Now they love me.
- 59:32[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know that song, but
- 59:34[SPEAKER_04]: The best example of this is someone that we've been talking about back and forth.
- 59:37[SPEAKER_04]: My crap sucks ass his first year.
- 59:39[SPEAKER_04]: He had one hundred.
- 59:41[SPEAKER_04]: Those base photos.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_04]: They were like hundred fifty bucks coming in with a craziest number back then.
- 59:44[SPEAKER_04]: It's two thousand those crazy number.
- 59:46[SPEAKER_04]: No one pays that they were ninety dollars the next year he's on fire.
- 59:50[SPEAKER_04]: I grade it three.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_04]: I got five hundred twenty five dollars each.
- 59:53[SPEAKER_04]: I was a graduate student at Michigan.
- 59:55[SPEAKER_04]: I pay like three fifty grade me back in.
- 59:56[SPEAKER_04]: I got like my first ever GMs.
- 59:58[SPEAKER_04]: I was so excited.
- 59:59[SPEAKER_04]: Five hundred bucks.
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_04]: But the point I'm trying to make is that was the best buy ever because he sucked and you thought it was good.
- 1:00:06[SPEAKER_04]: People think have this idea in their hat right when you're buying something that you're going to make money.
- 1:00:11[SPEAKER_04]: of buying something that's already proven and everyone's good.
- 1:00:14[SPEAKER_04]: No, the way to really make money is you buy something that you think is under value or the guy should turn around.
- 1:00:20[SPEAKER_04]: Like, you really, like, you can't have your cake and eat it, too, right?
- 1:00:23[SPEAKER_04]: You can't, like, you know, I want to get my top dollar for my stuff on eBay, but I don't like extended bidding because I can't get as many steals as before.
- 1:00:31[SPEAKER_04]: Like, oh, guess what?
- 1:00:32[SPEAKER_04]: That's not the way the world of fucking works.
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_04]: You know, you're not going to, I mean, it all goes back to the same principle, too.
- 1:00:37[SPEAKER_04]: Like, if you believe in something,
- 1:00:40[SPEAKER_04]: And you think it's going to go up big time.
- 1:00:42[SPEAKER_04]: Don't nickel and dime yourself out of it.
- 1:00:44[SPEAKER_04]: Don't worry about like, if you try to win everywhere, you win nowhere, that's how I will put.
- 1:00:48[SPEAKER_03]: Now that we've added two New Yorkers to this show, the, the ex motives have, I think, I think this is our highest ex motives show by about forty times.
- 1:00:58[SPEAKER_03]: We've added pull into it.
- 1:00:59[SPEAKER_03]: The newest top word is the F bomb.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we're gonna have to have like a explicit sun on our podcast now so that like not safe for its children.
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's gonna be like the M&M album.
