- 0:00Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Thanks to Craveworthy Street Food.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Freshly made with Reburger.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Welcome to the Hauraki Big Show.
- 0:12Speaker 3: With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy.
- 0:17Speaker 4: Oh, g'day, you mad bars. It's great to have your
- 0:20Speaker 4: company on this glorious Friday afternoon. It is the 11th
- 0:24Speaker 4: of September, 2026, and you, my friends, as always, listening
- 0:28Speaker 4: to the Big Show, brought to you by Reberg here.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Crave-worthy street food, freshly made with Reberg here.
- 0:36Speaker 5: Reberg.
- 0:39Speaker 4: Mogi, mogi, mogi. You must be pretty excited for the
- 0:43Speaker 4: upcoming weekend. You're wearing your Waz scarf there and a
- 0:48Speaker 4: puffer jacket. God, you're looking good. How's life?
- 0:51Speaker 3: Going pretty grousey, you mad dog, you sick son of
- 0:54Speaker 3: a bee. Look, let me be the first to say
- 0:57Speaker 3: it to you today, Jase. Up the Waz.
- 1:01Speaker 4: Yeah, man.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Up the Waz. Big game tomorrow. The nation is feeling it.
- 1:06Speaker 3: They're excited. We've got Wear It For The Whas going
- 1:08Speaker 3: on today. Everybody's dressed up like we're members of the team. Yeah, man.
- 1:13Speaker 3: You're about to run on the field and do a haka.
- 1:16Speaker 4: I went out especially and got my whas top to
- 1:20Speaker 4: be with the fellas. United for the city.
- 1:24Speaker 3: You've got a real Wade Egan vibe, Jase. And by
- 1:27Speaker 3: that I mean you strike me as someone who would
- 1:29Speaker 3: be easily concussed.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Totally.
- 1:33Speaker 3: How are you going, Keezy?
- 1:35Speaker 1: Yeah, good as gold, man. Pretty fizzed up for tomorrow.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Of course, I'll be going along to the home final.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Cannot wait. 24 hours time, I will be at the
- 1:43Speaker 1: game already.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Yeah, man.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Warming up on the sidelines. Getting ready to get stuck in.
- 1:47Speaker 1: But before then, mate, we've got a huge show.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Massive.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Massive show.
- 1:51Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Very Waz-focused, of course. A lot of freebies. A lot
- 1:54Speaker 1: of great chat as well, eh, Jase?
- 1:55Speaker 4: Yeah, for sure, man. Thank you, thank you.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Yeah, great.
- 1:58Speaker 4: Yeah, 24 hours from now, I'll be pacing in my
- 2:01Speaker 4: apartment going, come on, fellas, come on, you can do this.
- 2:04Speaker 4: Getting all fired up, maybe getting a few snacks ready,
- 2:07Speaker 4: things like that. Who are they playing? Pardon? Oh, the Dolphins? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 2:13Speaker 4: They're going to get a dedution.
- 2:15Speaker 1: I hope so.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Hey, Mogi, what's coming up on the show? What's happening
- 2:20Speaker 4: on The Big Show with Old Mogi?
- 2:23Speaker 3: Well, you know it, fellas. We had a little bit
- 2:26Speaker 3: of an incident earlier in the week with Charlie Gubb.
- 2:28Speaker 3: He couldn't make it to give his feelings, could he?
- 2:31Speaker 5: No.
- 2:32Speaker 3: On last week's game, but he'll be with us today
- 2:33Speaker 3: to preview the Dolphins. We've also got the throbber because
- 2:36Speaker 3: it's Friday. Yes. We do the throbber every Friday. That's
- 2:39Speaker 3: one of the rules. We haven't got many rules around here,
- 2:41Speaker 3: but that's one of them.
- 2:42Speaker 4: Coming up next.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Got a hell of a new storyline that will be
- 2:47Speaker 3: running through the show. I can't quite believe it's happening,
- 2:49Speaker 3: but it's happening.
- 2:50Speaker 1: It's definitely happening.
- 2:51Speaker 3: Keezy and Hoity J are going to play a season
- 2:54Speaker 3: of rugby next year.
- 2:55Speaker 4: Yeah, look, I have my concerns.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Nah, you'll be sweet as, man. We'll get into that next.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Huge.
- 3:02Speaker 4: In the meantime, here's the red hot chilli peppers.
- 3:07Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 3:11Speaker 4: Oasis there on the Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon.
- 3:15Speaker 4: The time is 14 minutes past 4 o'clock.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Fellas, pretty exciting news. Pretty exciting stuff that's developed on
- 3:21Speaker 1: the big show the last couple of days. Me and
- 3:23Speaker 1: Jase have been throwing the old footy ball around in
- 3:25Speaker 1: the studio here. Had a lot of fun. Jase has
- 3:28Speaker 1: got a bullet pass on him.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I do. That's true.
- 3:31Speaker 3: I do.
- 3:31Speaker 1: And the thing is, with Jase being.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Straight in the gullet.
- 3:35Speaker 3: And Keezy always shells it.
- 3:37Speaker 4: Yeah, he does.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I always shell it, yeah.
- 3:39Speaker 4: Knock on.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Yeah, true.
- 3:41Speaker 1: See, and Jason, he knows all the terminology. He's 39.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Ma'anonu's 44.
- 3:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:45Speaker 1: He's still out there playing.
- 3:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:48Speaker 3: I'd love to join you in this, fellas, but I'm
- 3:49Speaker 3: too old.
- 3:50Speaker 1: I'm pushing 50.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Yeah, well, Moge's too old.
- 3:51Speaker 1: You're pushing 50, mate.
- 3:52Speaker 4: I would worry about you, Moge.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Yeah, whereas Jason's still 39. So, and the thing is,
- 3:58Speaker 1: the way you deliver that nut, Yeah, man.
- 4:01Speaker 4: That cherry.
- 4:02Speaker 1: That straight into the old bread basket. You have got
- 4:05Speaker 1: at least one more season of good footy left, I think.
- 4:09Speaker 1: At least one season. And it's exciting because I've been
- 4:12Speaker 1: thinking about playing again as well. I haven't played properly
- 4:14Speaker 1: since I left high school.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Well, ever.
- 4:16Speaker 4: I was going to say ever, Keezy.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, true, true, yeah. But the good news is, Jase,
- 4:21Speaker 1: we're going to change that, aren't we?
- 4:22Speaker 4: Are we?
- 4:23Speaker 1: Yes, because you and I, we were throwing the old
- 4:25Speaker 1: pigskin around and we've decided we're going to play a
- 4:28Speaker 1: season of footy next season. So what we need now
- 4:32Speaker 1: on 3483, every text in the draw for 50 bucks, Reburger. Suggestions,
- 4:36Speaker 1: if you know a good club that we could play for.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Now we're talking. Now we're getting down to the nitty gritty.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Straight up. We've got to sign up. We've got to
- 4:43Speaker 1: get a coach on. We've got to talk about off-season training.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Because when was the last time you did contact training?
- 4:48Speaker 4: Yeah, well, that's the thing, Keezy. I have concerns.
- 4:52Speaker 3: What about?
- 4:53Speaker 4: And I don't want to think this.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Yes.
- 4:57Speaker 4: But I can't help but think it.
- 4:58Speaker 5: Yes.
- 4:59Speaker 1: What's that, man? Big dog?
- 5:01Speaker 4: You're trying to get me killed.
- 5:03Speaker 1: What are you talking about?
- 5:05Speaker 4: Can I paint a picture with words, if I might?
- 5:09Speaker 5: Right?
- 5:09Speaker 4: We're playing a game of rugby. Keezy there at the
- 5:13Speaker 4: base of a rut, gets the ball, does one of
- 5:16Speaker 4: his big floaty.
- 5:17Speaker 1: No, no, no, you're the halfback.
- 5:18Speaker 3: You're the halfback.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Does a big floaty hospital pass to Hoity J standing
- 5:23Speaker 4: at first five.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Why would you be first five?
- 5:26Speaker 4: And the opposition, a 108kg blindside flanker at full pace...
- 5:35Speaker 4: nails Horty J in the midriff and or chest and
- 5:40Speaker 4: nails him into the ground. I'm not going to live through.
- 5:42Speaker 3: That, Keezy.
- 5:43Speaker 1: But you're describing it all wrong, Jase. First of all,
- 5:46Speaker 1: you're halfback. You've got that bullet pass. Sure, you can
- 5:49Speaker 1: only pass one way. You can't pass with your left hand,
- 5:51Speaker 1: but you'll be the one delivering it. So you can
- 5:53Speaker 1: be smart. You can just be selective. You don't have
- 5:55Speaker 1: to run unless you see a gap like Cam Roy got.
- 5:58Speaker 3: There's always going to be. I share your concerns, Jase.
- 6:02Speaker 3: but I've got to say I don't think it's going
- 6:04Speaker 3: to be your physical prowess or presence that's going to
- 6:07Speaker 3: be the problem here. I think it's going to be
- 6:10Speaker 3: Keezy's ineptitude.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Mm-hmm. What do you mean?
- 6:14Speaker 3: His unkness that's going to potentially put your life at risk.
- 6:18Speaker 3: Those great big lobbing passes.
- 6:19Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:20Speaker 3: When he comes into contact, just heaving it over his
- 6:22Speaker 3: head and hoping.
- 6:23Speaker 4: Somebody else will. Because he panics.
- 6:24Speaker 1: He panics.
- 6:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I panic. And that's what's great.
- 6:27Speaker 1: We're going to play rugby.
- 6:28Speaker 4: It's a big floating Keezy. 100%. Well, I'll tell you
- 6:31Speaker 4: another concern that I genuinely.
- 6:32Speaker 3: A big Keezy floater.
- 6:33Speaker 4: So we join a team. This is my other concern, Keezy.
- 6:37Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:38Speaker 4: We join a team together. The fellas? Yeah. Hootie Jay
- 6:43Speaker 4: at halfback. And old Keezy, week after week, riding the pine.
- 6:50Speaker 6: That's fine.
- 6:51Speaker 4: I just would feel terrible.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Jase, I would feel honoured watching you go to work, man.
- 6:56Speaker 3: But it's about you guys doing it together, I think.
- 6:58Speaker 4: Well, that's right.
- 6:59Speaker 1: We can find the right team.
- 7:00Speaker 3: And the other concern, of course, is the only time
- 7:01Speaker 3: that we've gone through any kind of– I don't know,
- 7:05Speaker 3: physical challenge. Keezy's pulled up lame.
- 7:07Speaker 4: I know.
- 7:07Speaker 3: You know, within 20 metres. And so what's going to happen?
- 7:10Speaker 3: You do all this off-season training.
- 7:12Speaker 5: Yeah, man.
- 7:13Speaker 3: And then old Hoiti J's left there to lead the
- 7:15Speaker 3: team on his own lonesome.
- 7:17Speaker 1: I'll still be there every game, man. I'll still be
- 7:19Speaker 1: there sidelined. I'll still be there supporting you.
- 7:21Speaker 4: But the asthma.
- 7:22Speaker 1: No, I've got that under control. I'll bring my Simbacor
- 7:24Speaker 1: and my Ventolin.
- 7:25Speaker 4: Because I also have a fear I can just see Keezy,
- 7:29Speaker 4: you know, we're 10 minutes into the game. He's on
- 7:31Speaker 4: all fours, you know, looking over his shoulder.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Just wheezing, you know what I mean? Over the ball,
- 7:36Speaker 1: protecting the ball. Jase, look, okay, you can picture all
- 7:40Speaker 1: these negative things all you want, man, but all I
- 7:42Speaker 1: see is me and you raising the trophy at the
- 7:44Speaker 1: end of the season.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Can I say, yeah, there are things that worry you,
- 7:48Speaker 3: but there is an opportunity at glory here. And what
- 7:51Speaker 3: a glory it would be.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Greatness, Jase. Have you ever heard of greatness? So 3483,
- 7:56Speaker 1: text us through. If you know of a club that
- 7:59Speaker 1: could use Hoity J and myself for next year.
- 8:01Speaker 4: Where are you playing, by the way? What's your position?
- 8:04Speaker 1: Every text in the draw for $ 50 worth of Reburger. Well,
- 8:07Speaker 1: as you say, I'm a big unco, so.
- 8:09Speaker 3: We'll get into that next as well, as well as
- 8:11Speaker 3: a few texts there.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Yeah, okay.
- 8:12Speaker 3: I'm loving it, man. It's going to be great, man.
- 8:14Speaker 3: This is really, really good.
- 8:16Speaker 1: And I can't wait to see you in action because
- 8:17Speaker 1: you've told me all about being a tough little bastard
- 8:19Speaker 1: and the captain of the first 15 and blah, blah, man.
- 8:22Speaker 1: It's going to be awesome.
- 8:23Speaker 4: Yeah, sounds good, man. Here's Foo Fighters.
- 8:27Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 8:31Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 8:33Speaker 4: Hole on the Big Show this Friday afternoon. The time
- 8:37Speaker 4: is 4.26.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Hey, huge news out of the Big Show if you've
- 8:41Speaker 1: just tuned in. Keezy and Hoity J are going to
- 8:43Speaker 1: play a season of footy together next year. We're talking
- 8:46Speaker 1: rugby union, right?
- 8:47Speaker 4: Union. Yeah, that's all I do, man.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:49Speaker 4: I don't do league.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Nah, I love league, but I never really played it,
- 8:52Speaker 1: so we'll go Union. And people are texting in on 3483.
- 8:55Speaker 4: I don't think you're hard enough for league, Keezy.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Totally, man, you're right. But the good news is we'll
- 8:59Speaker 1: find out if I'm hard enough for Union next year
- 9:01Speaker 1: when me and you play a season together.
- 9:02Speaker 4: Yeah, great.
- 9:03Speaker 1: So the texts are coming in, 3483, suggestions of clubs.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Every text, of course, in the draw for 50 bucks, Reburger.
- 9:09Speaker 1: The Oni Fero RFC Div 3, reasonable rugby, great bar.
- 9:15Speaker 1: You know, that sounds like us.
- 9:17Speaker 3: That sounds good.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Although, Jase, you strike me as more of a– like
- 9:20Speaker 1: Div 3 is probably too low for you, right?
- 9:21Speaker 4: Yeah, probs. I'd say– I'm thinking more Prems.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Well, that's the thing. We should aim for Prems.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Well, you've got to get along for the trolls then,
- 9:29Speaker 3: don't you?
- 9:29Speaker 1: 100%, which is– Well, I.
- 9:30Speaker 4: Mean, even if– you know, having me in the Prems,
- 9:33Speaker 4: I'll draw the crowds. Top radio DJ, comedic legend.
- 9:39Speaker 3: They'll get a few laughs, that's for sure.
- 9:41Speaker 4: Yeah, for sure.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Some of the funniest work you've ever done, man. Yeah.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Someone here is suggesting the Pakuranga Presidents. Once again, I
- 9:50Speaker 1: think we're talking Prem still. You're still in your prime.
- 9:53Speaker 4: I used to play for Packeranger, actually. Really? Back in
- 9:56Speaker 4: the day. Yeah, truly. When I went home in the
- 9:59Speaker 4: weekends from boarding school, I played for Packeranger.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Right, okay. So a while ago.
- 10:04Speaker 4: I'm on the board there, actually. You're on the board, right? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Honours board.
- 10:08Speaker 4: Yeah, right. Four. Oh, just for being awesome.
- 10:12Speaker 1: The Huntley Hobags looking for a couple of tidy rugby club.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Could do with the old Keezy Jizz combo. That's what
- 10:19Speaker 1: people are calling it.
- 10:20Speaker 3: The Keezy-Jizz combo. I could see you. No.
- 10:25Speaker 4: What?
- 10:25Speaker 3: Stop it.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Marist Albion Beacons down in Christchurch.
- 10:31Speaker 4: Yeah, a bit of a travel.
- 10:33Speaker 3: I think this one's the winner, Keezy. I don't know
- 10:35Speaker 3: if you've got your eye on this one here. But
- 10:36Speaker 3: this seems like hand and glove. Could I say that?
- 10:41Speaker 3: The Auckland Women's Correctional Facility Rugby Club is a mint idea,
- 10:46Speaker 3: according to this texter. Nice bunch and supportive atmosphere.
- 10:50Speaker 4: That sounds lovely.
- 10:51Speaker 1: But once again, Jase, you're so gun based on everything
- 10:55Speaker 1: you've told us. Yeah, but it's not about being the best.
- 10:57Speaker 3: Is it about that?
- 10:58Speaker 5: No, it's not.
- 10:58Speaker 4: It's about being part of a team, Keezy.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Is it about inspiring people? Yeah, I think so. Being
- 11:02Speaker 3: part of a community?
- 11:04Speaker 1: But, Mogi, Jase is.
- 11:05Speaker 4: 40 J, best in the world. A number one.
- 11:08Speaker 1: And so while he's 39 and still has a couple
- 11:10Speaker 1: of good years left, I want to see him at
- 11:12Speaker 1: the top. I want to see him at the pinnacle,
- 11:14Speaker 1: at the peak of his powers. And so you'll be halfback, right?
- 11:17Speaker 4: Well, I guess so, yeah. Where would you play? That's
- 11:20Speaker 4: what I want to know.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a good question. So obviously you couldn't play prop?
- 11:25Speaker 1: No.
- 11:26Speaker 4: Hooker?
- 11:26Speaker 1: No, I'm not a front row.
- 11:28Speaker 4: You've got the ass for a prop.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Thank you. You've got the booty.
- 11:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:32Speaker 1: I've got that booty. Yeah, you've got that big old.
- 11:34Speaker 1: I've got that cake.
- 11:35Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 11:36Speaker 1: But you can be a caked up second five, for example.
- 11:39Speaker 1: I think locks probably the thing that makes sense to me. Now,
- 11:42Speaker 1: I say I don't think flank is it because it
- 11:45Speaker 1: requires skill.
- 11:46Speaker 3: Thank you. Thank you.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Lock, did you say?
- 11:49Speaker 3: Whereas lock, you know, one of your drives, you've got
- 11:50Speaker 3: to pick somebody up. Well, I get picked up. That's
- 11:53Speaker 3: all right. Yeah. Or you get picked up.
- 11:55Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:56Speaker 3: You go right with that. Putting your head in between
- 11:58Speaker 3: a couple of big fellas there.
- 12:00Speaker 4: I can do that. Yeah, you could do that for sure.
- 12:02Speaker 4: The only issue I have with him being lock, you'd
- 12:04Speaker 4: only have one lock for your side because Keezy can't catch.
- 12:08Speaker 1: What do you mean? One option in the line-out? Yeah, yeah.
- 12:10Speaker 1: But that's okay, Jase. We can just have one option.
- 12:13Speaker 1: At the end of the day, that lock will pass
- 12:14Speaker 1: it straight down to Hoity J, who's going to spread
- 12:17Speaker 1: it wide.
- 12:17Speaker 4: I'm thinking more on the wing. Just get him away
- 12:21Speaker 4: from the majority of the game and just put him
- 12:24Speaker 4: there as a kind of physical block.
- 12:26Speaker 1: That's 100%. At the end of the day, it's mostly
- 12:29Speaker 1: about you.
- 12:32Speaker 3: I thought it was about the two of you playing together.
- 12:35Speaker 3: It feels like it's getting more and more away from
- 12:36Speaker 3: what you wanted to do because the big attraction for you, Jase,
- 12:39Speaker 3: is playing with Keezy. Sounds like Keezy only wants to
- 12:41Speaker 3: get you out on the field and then he's going
- 12:42Speaker 3: to abandon you.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Mo, you could not be more wrong. It is about
- 12:46Speaker 1: Jase and I playing a season of footy together. At
- 12:48Speaker 1: the end of the day, I'm not good enough, so
- 12:50Speaker 1: I might have to be out on the wing.
- 12:53Speaker 3: I think what has to happen is you have to
- 12:55Speaker 3: play for a team that is at a level where
- 12:58Speaker 3: you get to play with Jase. With Jase Kesey. And
- 13:00Speaker 3: Kesey is allowed to be on the field, Jase. Because
- 13:03Speaker 3: it's about you two playing together.
- 13:05Speaker 4: Like you're under 10s.
- 13:06Speaker 1: No, Jase, you're joking. I'm trying to take this seriously, Jase.
- 13:10Speaker 4: You're right.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Maybe a Div 2, Div 3 team where Jase will
- 13:12Speaker 1: be the best player.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Div 2, Div 3.
- 13:15Speaker 1: He'll be the best player, but it'll be hopefully a
- 13:17Speaker 1: grade that I can keep up.
- 13:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:19Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Imagine you're half back on
- 13:21Speaker 1: first five, man. How cool would that be?
- 13:23Speaker 4: Yeah, let's do it, Keezy.
- 13:24Speaker 6: Yeah, great.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Keep the text coming. 3483 if you've got any suggestions.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Every single text in the drawer for 50 bucks.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Reburg.
- 13:31Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 13:36Speaker 1: One simple question. One weekend of a lifetime. Would you rather....
- 13:42Speaker 4: Yes indeed was, or cars, you decide, New Zealand. Two
- 13:46Speaker 4: great prizes.
- 13:47Speaker 1: That's right, either the NRL Grand Final, three nights over
- 13:51Speaker 1: in Sydney there, the Randwick races on the Saturday, a
- 13:53Speaker 1: boat cruise to the Grand Final on the Sunday there,
- 13:56Speaker 1: or Bathurst with shuttle service to and from Mount Panorama,
- 14:00Speaker 1: both the Saturday and Sunday, flights, hotels, everything taken care of.
- 14:03Speaker 4: Yeah, beautiful.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Fellas, it's three weeks until the Grand Finals.
- 14:07Speaker 4: Yeah, man.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Three weeks and a couple of days there, fellas. That's
- 14:11Speaker 3: not far, is it?
- 14:12Speaker 4: It's not.
- 14:12Speaker 3: That's not long to wait at all. God.
- 14:16Speaker 1: I'm already freaking out about it.
- 14:17Speaker 3: I'm freaking out, man. I'm going to be so nervous.
- 14:19Speaker 3: I've got tickets.
- 14:20Speaker 5: Yeah, I know.
- 14:20Speaker 3: It's not going to be good. If they get into
- 14:23Speaker 3: the final and I go, I'm not going to enjoy
- 14:25Speaker 3: a single minute of it.
- 14:27Speaker 7: Right.
- 14:27Speaker 4: You'll be freaking out.
- 14:28Speaker 1: It'll be like the 2011 Rugby World Cup final.
- 14:31Speaker 4: Yes.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Like that was the last time I was just freaking
- 14:33Speaker 1: out and hated every second of it. But loved it.
- 14:36Speaker 4: You see, the only reason I don't go is because
- 14:39Speaker 4: I don't want what happened at Magic Round to occur.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 14:43Speaker 4: Which is where I'm really into the wars and just backbones,
- 14:47Speaker 4: constantly going back and forth, getting beersies the whole game. Yeah, exactly. Oh, sorry, mate.
- 14:52Speaker 4: Sorry about that.
- 14:53Speaker 6: Oh, they scored! Oh, I missed it.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Yeah, Keezy and Pugs are in the way again, getting
- 14:58Speaker 1: more beers.
- 14:58Speaker 4: Yeah, and hot dogs.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Responsibly. Let's go to the Lions, fellas.
- 15:03Speaker 4: G'day, Alan, you mad bastard. How's life?
- 15:05Speaker 3: Not too bad, mate.
- 15:07Speaker 4: Good on you. Bad, mate. What's your plan for your
- 15:09Speaker 4: Friday night there, Alan? I thought that was Alan saying that. Yeah, nice.
- 15:14Speaker 3: A couple of beers.
- 15:15Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Fair enough, Alan. Responsible beers?
- 15:18Speaker 6: Yeah, definitely.
- 15:19Speaker 3: A couple of hot dogs as well, maybe. Yeah, good
- 15:21Speaker 3: on you.
- 15:21Speaker 4: What do you do for a crust, by the way, Alan?
- 15:25Speaker 4: I'm a hairdresser.
- 15:26Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Bad, bad. Short back and sides, man. What's in style
- 15:31Speaker 3: at the moment for a young stud like Keezy?
- 15:34Speaker 6: Oh, yeah, short back and hard luck, I think.
- 15:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:38Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I– I feel like Alan's not actually
- 15:40Speaker 1: a hairdresser, but I'm not sure. Hey, Alan, Bathurst or
- 15:44Speaker 1: grand final, mate? Grand final, mate, for sure. Yeah, get
- 15:48Speaker 1: on you, mate.
- 15:48Speaker 4: You're in the draw. Say on the line, Pugs will
- 15:50Speaker 4: look after you. Thanks, mate. G'day, Sam, you mad bastard.
- 15:54Speaker 4: How's life?
- 15:55Speaker 3: Yeah, good, thanks.
- 15:56Speaker 1: How are you?
- 15:56Speaker 4: Yeah, very good, thank you, Sam. You got big plans
- 15:59Speaker 4: for the weekend?
- 16:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:02Speaker 4: Yeah, heading to Napier to watch the NPC.
- 16:03Speaker 7: It's my brother's 100th.
- 16:06Speaker 4: Oh, how good.
- 16:07Speaker 3: How good.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Who's your brother?
- 16:10Speaker 3: Jeff Cridge. He's a shocking bastard.
- 16:14Speaker 4: Terrible.
- 16:15Speaker 3: He's terrible.
- 16:16Speaker 4: What position does he play, Sam?
- 16:18Speaker 7: He's a lock.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Oh, like Keezy.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Yeah, like old Keezy.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Keezy will teach him a thing or two.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I could if you want. Does he have a
- 16:27Speaker 1: massive dump truck like I do? Oh, I don't know.
- 16:31Speaker 4: His arse. He's my brother. Yeah, I know.
- 16:36Speaker 3: It's not sexual. It's just like, has he got a massive.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Has he got a big old dump on him?
- 16:39Speaker 3: When you were sitting next to him on the couch
- 16:40Speaker 3: at home, was it always annoying because he was so big?
- 16:44Speaker 4: Yeah, probably.
- 16:44Speaker 3: There we go.
- 16:45Speaker 4: Yeah, good on you, Sam. What do you want, Sam?
- 16:47Speaker 4: Waz or cars? Waz, please. Yeah, good on you, mate.
- 16:50Speaker 4: Stay on the line and old Pug Sam will look
- 16:53Speaker 4: after you, all right?
- 16:53Speaker 3: Can I make an observation, man? What's up? We're getting
- 16:56Speaker 3: a lot of woman callers.
- 16:58Speaker 5: Yes.
- 16:58Speaker 3: Females, I call them. They can't wait to get involved with,
- 17:02Speaker 3: by and large, a little bit of footy.
- 17:04Speaker 4: A little bit of.
- 17:05Speaker 3: Bathurst as well. Yeah, but they're desperate to get involved
- 17:08Speaker 3: as well. It's good stuff, isn't it? It's across the divide.
- 17:11Speaker 3: It is.
- 17:11Speaker 4: Bloody oats.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Hey, all thanks to boystrip.co.nz. If you want to go
- 17:15Speaker 1: to Bathurst, there's still some packages available. If you want
- 17:17Speaker 1: to go to the grand final, you're shit out of luck.
- 17:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 17:19Speaker 4: Here's the strokes.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Sold out.
- 17:22Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 17:26Speaker 4: Living Colour there on the Hauraki Big Show this Friday afternoon.
- 17:29Speaker 4: The time is 10 minutes to 5. Fellas, let's talk TV.
- 17:35Speaker 4: What's on the telly with Mike Minogue. Yeah.
- 17:42Speaker 3: That's right. That was badly timed, that little cough. They
- 17:46Speaker 3: didn't watch anything last night, Phil. A little bit of work,
- 17:48Speaker 3: a little bit of work.
- 17:49Speaker 1: I thought you were going to have a bath and
- 17:51Speaker 1: read John Tugud's biography.
- 17:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I did. I worked. That's how you do it. Yeah.
- 17:58Speaker 3: That's how you do it.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Would you get up to taste something less miserable than that?
- 18:03Speaker 4: Well, I had a great night, actually, Keezy.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Well, you're saying I didn't. Is that what you're saying?
- 18:07Speaker 4: Yes, I was saying that.
- 18:10Speaker 1: What did you watch?
- 18:12Speaker 4: Well, nothing either, really, but had a very, very nice
- 18:16Speaker 4: romantic dinner with my wife.
- 18:18Speaker 3: What made it romantic? How do you keep the romance
- 18:20Speaker 3: alive after all these affairs?
- 18:24Speaker 4: It's interesting, isn't it, when you go out to dinner
- 18:26Speaker 4: with someone you've known for nigh on 30 years.
- 18:29Speaker 3: I mean, she's got nothing to tell you.
- 18:31Speaker 4: It's like, what do you talk about?
- 18:32Speaker 5: Nothing.
- 18:32Speaker 4: What do you talk about?
- 18:33Speaker 5: Nothing.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Talk about old Keezy and Mogi.
- 18:35Speaker 4: Well, we did mention your lovely wife because she bumped
- 18:38Speaker 4: into her in the supermarket. Oh, yeah, that's true.
- 18:41Speaker 3: How long did that chat last for?
- 18:42Speaker 4: Oh, about 10 seconds, and then we sort of awkwardly
- 18:46Speaker 4: shuffled the cutlery.
- 18:47Speaker 3: Can we do an improv where we.
- 18:51Speaker 3: It's your wife and you out for dinner last night,
- 18:53Speaker 3: and we do an improv of what the conversation was.
- 18:55Speaker 3: I'd love to do that.
- 18:57Speaker 4: Can we?
- 18:57Speaker 5: Sure.
- 18:58Speaker 3: So I ran into Keezy's Mrs. there last night.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Well, no, it was his wife talking.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Yeah, they've got the same voice.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Oh, she does too.
- 19:06Speaker 4: Yeah, she does, eh?
- 19:07Speaker 1: That's where you get it from. That's weird, because her
- 19:09Speaker 1: voice is slightly deeper than yours as well.
- 19:11Speaker 4: And then old Mogi. Yeah. What did you watch, Keezy?
- 19:17Speaker 1: My wife and I are absolutely loving... Season two of
- 19:21Speaker 1: Outrageous Fortune.
- 19:22Speaker 5: Yeah, man.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Once again, if you're unaware, I've never seen it, and
- 19:26Speaker 1: we've just watched season one. It's a great show. So good.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Jethro's just taken over Corky's practice. Corky, of course, played
- 19:34Speaker 1: by Hoity J.
- 19:35Speaker 3: You'd be in jail for the meth, wouldn't you?
- 19:36Speaker 4: Yeah, I think so.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Something like that, yeah, because last year you were addicted
- 19:39Speaker 1: to meth or something. So I'm excited for Corky to
- 19:42Speaker 1: make another appearance, because you do come back, right?
- 19:44Speaker 4: I do, but I've got bad news for you, Keezy,
- 19:47Speaker 4: from recollection, and I could be wrong.
- 19:49Speaker 1: All good news. season 3 season 3 ok but it's
- 19:52Speaker 1: just great they keep all the characters that they've established
- 19:55Speaker 1: just keep being interwoven Yes. Keeps being interwoven. And also,
- 19:59Speaker 1: Anthony Starr playing Van and Jethro. So good. Yeah.
- 20:03Speaker 4: He's a very talented fella.
- 20:05Speaker 1: He's amazing.
- 20:05Speaker 4: He's gone on to do quite extraordinary things.
- 20:07Speaker 3: I don't know if you've noticed.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Yeah, well, he's in The Boys, obviously, as Homelander. But
- 20:12Speaker 1: I think it was Pugs had a good point. Homelander
- 20:15Speaker 1: switches in and out of these two personality types at will,
- 20:17Speaker 1: and he's amazing. It's because he played Van and Jethro
- 20:20Speaker 1: for so long. Yes. It's such a good show.
- 20:23Speaker 4: He got exhausted by it in the end. He was like, enough, enough.
- 20:27Speaker 1: To be fair, Van seems to be almost the central
- 20:31Speaker 1: person to the plot. Yes. He's involved with everything. So
- 20:35Speaker 1: it would be very, very exhausting to me. I mean, Jase,
- 20:38Speaker 1: you're exhausted after doing... being like the 44th person on Brokenwood.
- 20:42Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 20:42Speaker 4: Yeah, in the background.
- 20:43Speaker 1: In the background.
- 20:44Speaker 4: It was him!
- 20:47Speaker 1: Watch it on TVNZ +. Every single episode is there.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Get stuck into it.
- 20:50Speaker 4: Here's Kings of Leon.
- 20:52Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 20:56Speaker 4: Yeah. Kings of Leon there. Wait for me on the
- 21:01Speaker 4: Radio Hodaki Big Show this Friday afternoon. The time, 4
- 21:04Speaker 4: minutes to 5 o'clock.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Fellas, ahead of tomorrow's huge home final for the Warriors,
- 21:09Speaker 1: Betcher have got old Keezy to host another pot. So
- 21:12Speaker 1: the pot, basically how it works is.
- 21:14Speaker 5: Idiots.
- 21:15Speaker 1: You download the Betcha app, go to BetSocial, type in backbone,
- 21:18Speaker 1: you join the pot, you give Keezy some money, I
- 21:21Speaker 1: then punt it, and then we all have the big
- 21:23Speaker 1: thumbs up and we all go home stoked because old
- 21:26Speaker 1: Keezy's onto it when it comes to it.
- 21:27Speaker 6: He's done it again.
- 21:28Speaker 1: He's done it again. So if you are keen to
- 21:30Speaker 1: get involved, as I say, go to the Betcha app, BetSocial,
- 21:33Speaker 1: type in backbone, all one word, join the pot, And
- 21:36Speaker 1: we'll crack into it tomorrow night for the Waz. R18,
- 21:39Speaker 1: of course, bet responsibly.
- 21:40Speaker 4: Yeah, good stuff, KC. Hey, heaps coming up after 5 o'clock.
- 21:43Speaker 4: We're going to be speaking to Charlie Gubb.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:46Speaker 4: About the Waz. He's going to be fired up, isn't he?
- 21:48Speaker 1: Fired up. And speaking of fired up for the Waz,
- 21:51Speaker 1: that's the theme of today's Throbber.
- 21:53Speaker 4: Yeah, man.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Throbber. Songs to fire up the Waz.
- 21:56Speaker 4: Yeah, boy. Oh, is that what it was?
- 21:58Speaker 1: Oh, Chase.
- 22:02Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 22:05Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 22:11Speaker 1: It's the Hauraki Big Show's Friday Throbber.
- 22:17Speaker 4: Doosh, doosh.
- 22:18Speaker 6: Look at Jase.
- 22:20Speaker 3: Jase is trying to act like he's forgetting to do
- 22:24Speaker 3: the doosh, doosh. That was good, man.
- 22:27Speaker 4: Yeah, thanks, mate.
- 22:28Speaker 1: So for those who don't know, for some reason we
- 22:30Speaker 1: always say doosh, doosh. Jase went through a phase of
- 22:33Speaker 1: forgetting to do it, and now he's trying to pretend
- 22:35Speaker 1: like he's going to forget and then do it anyway.
- 22:37Speaker 4: Because it gets Keezy excited. It does.
- 22:41Speaker 6: It's all fired up.
- 22:43Speaker 1: I'm not sure. It gets you excited. Because he's randomly
- 22:46Speaker 1: pretending to look at his phone and then quickly.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Back to the microphone.
- 22:49Speaker 4: Hey, Friday Throbber, we each pick a tune. You decide
- 22:54Speaker 4: which one you want to be the throbber. First to
- 22:57Speaker 4: two wins, fellas.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Yeah. It's a song designed to get you fired up
- 23:00Speaker 1: for the weekend. And for this weekend in particular, it's
- 23:02Speaker 1: a song to fire the wars up, man.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Up the wars.
- 23:05Speaker 4: Yeah, man.
- 23:05Speaker 1: So we're... Who wants to go first?
- 23:09Speaker 3: Look, I'll go first, fellas. I'll go first. And this
- 23:11Speaker 3: is a little tune that means a lot to me.
- 23:13Speaker 3: And I think it'll mean a lot to a lot
- 23:14Speaker 3: of people. You listen to this one with a beer
- 23:16Speaker 3: in your hand, mate. It's going off. It's going off.
- 23:27Speaker 7: Great stuff by Limp Bizkit.
- 23:37Speaker 3: That is a goddamn tune.
- 23:39Speaker 4: Good stuff, Mogey.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Do you reckon that's what the Waz would be into, man?
- 23:42Speaker 4: Yeah, Ty, I mean, break stuff up, Keezy. Smash them, bro.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Smash them.
- 23:47Speaker 5: Come on.
- 23:48Speaker 1: I'll go next. Tomorrow, the Warriors are going to make
- 23:53Speaker 1: the Dolphins cry.
- 23:55Speaker 6: Tomorrow. Love will lead us.
- 23:58Speaker 4: Warriors.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Love will lead us.
- 24:00Speaker 7: See when leaders.
- 24:01Speaker 4: Can you hear the Dolphins cry?
- 24:06Speaker 1: See the Warriors.
- 24:11Speaker 3: Absolutely 100% What?
- 24:15Speaker 6: Don't?
- 24:16Speaker 3: Spot on In terms of the theme Yeah it was
- 24:21Speaker 3: cracking tune Absolute all time heap of shit tune.
- 24:24Speaker 1: That's what I was going to say Pugs is thumbs
- 24:28Speaker 1: upping me out there But the thing is I don't
- 24:31Speaker 1: vote Keezy That's right I don't vote No but you
- 24:33Speaker 1: can influence the vote People are listening People are already
- 24:36Speaker 1: having an opinion about that song Yeah, that's true. And
- 24:38Speaker 1: the thing, the pug's thumbing something doesn't mean anything. You know, he's,
- 24:42Speaker 1: you know?
- 24:42Speaker 4: Pug's thumbing something? Yeah.
- 24:44Speaker 1: What did you choose, Jase?
- 24:46Speaker 4: Bit of Bubba O'Reilly.
- 25:03Speaker 1: The whys would have been negative 40 when that came out.
- 25:05Speaker 3: What is the theme?
- 25:08Speaker 1: To get the Warriors fired up.
- 25:09Speaker 5: Oh, right.
- 25:11Speaker 4: Being out in the field, breaking your back, burning your liver.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Oh, okay, good. That's good stuff. I like it.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Seriously?
- 25:17Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what it is.
- 25:18Speaker 3: Okay.
- 25:20Speaker 1: You didn't just pick a song and then just.
- 25:22Speaker 6: Go, oh, crap.
- 25:23Speaker 4: No, I promise you I didn't. I didn't.
- 25:26Speaker 3: You put a lot of work into that, Keezy.
- 25:27Speaker 4: There were some lyrics that really resonated with me. But
- 25:30Speaker 4: you decide, New Zealand. 0800 HODAK in the meantime. There's Sheehan.
- 25:36Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 25:39Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 25:44Speaker 4: It's the Hauraki Big Show's Friday Throbber.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Dej Dej.
- 25:51Speaker 3: That's good stuff. Yeah, man.
- 25:56Speaker 4: We're looking for a tune to inspire the Waz tomorrow, Phil.
- 26:00Speaker 3: That's right.
- 26:01Speaker 1: That's the theme of today's Friday Throbber. You, of course,
- 26:04Speaker 1: vote on 0800 HODUCKY. Mogi went first with some soggy biscuits.
- 26:10Speaker 3: What?
- 26:15Speaker 7: What?
- 26:16Speaker 5: What?
- 26:17Speaker 1: That's certainly getting them fired up. Sorry, that's Limp Bizkit.
- 26:25Speaker 4: I'd be pretty fired up if I had my skull
- 26:27Speaker 4: candies on.
- 26:28Speaker 5: Yeah, man.
- 26:28Speaker 4: Listening to that in the changing rooms, I'd be fizzing.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Well, that could be a reality next year, Jason, when
- 26:33Speaker 1: we play footy, man. I'm excited. I went for a
- 26:36Speaker 1: very literal song, Dolphins Cry, because that's what they're going
- 26:39Speaker 1: to be doing after we beat them.
- 26:42Speaker 5: Never leave us roaring.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Right on theme. Jase chose a song from 1971. Yeah, man.
- 26:59Speaker 4: What are you saying? That there wasn't good tunes in
- 27:02Speaker 4: the 70s, Keezy?
- 27:02Speaker 1: No, not at all. I'm just saying that the oldest
- 27:04Speaker 1: player on the Waz is probably how old? 33 or something?
- 27:07Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Kirk Catewell, maybe?
- 27:09Speaker 3: Oh, he loves this track.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Does he?
- 27:10Speaker 3: He does, man.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Bubba O'Reilly. Out here in the fields I fight for
- 27:18Speaker 1: my meals I get my back in.
- 27:27Speaker 3: It's about farming.
- 27:28Speaker 1: I love that song, to be fair. It was one
- 27:30Speaker 1: of my three goat choices.
- 27:32Speaker 3: Yeah, man.
- 27:33Speaker 4: Hey, let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Charlie, your man, Barson.
- 27:36Speaker 4: How's life?
- 27:38Speaker 3: Oh, g'day, Phil.
- 27:39Speaker 1: G'day, Phil.
- 27:40Speaker 4: Yeah, good on you, mate. Tell you, what are you
- 27:42Speaker 4: running with there, Charlie?
- 27:44Speaker 5: Oh, there's got to be only one option, eh?
- 27:46Speaker 3: That's you, Roy J.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Oh, boo.
- 27:49Speaker 6: Nice, Charlie.
- 27:50Speaker 1: How old are you, Charlie?
- 27:51Speaker 5: 26.
- 27:52Speaker 3: Good on you, mate.
- 27:53Speaker 4: See, man?
- 27:54Speaker 3: People know music from before they were born, man.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 27:57Speaker 3: Well, Keezy, you like Engelbert Humperdinck. Why are you shocked
- 28:01Speaker 3: that he likes... Exactly.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Let's not compare The Who to Engelbert Humperdinck, one of
- 28:07Speaker 1: the greatest performers.
- 28:09Speaker 3: That's a great point.
- 28:10Speaker 4: Let's go to Andrew. G'day, Andrew. You're back, Barnhouse Life.
- 28:14Speaker 3: G'day, Horty J.
- 28:15Speaker 6: Good, mate.
- 28:15Speaker 4: Good on you, mate. What are you running with there, Andrew?
- 28:18Speaker 3: Well, some great songs, some bangers today, and no offence,
- 28:21Speaker 3: Keezy's track as well, but I'm going to have to
- 28:24Speaker 3: go with the old mate, Mogi, today.
- 28:26Speaker 4: Yeah, mate.
- 28:27Speaker 3: Good on you, Andrew.
- 28:27Speaker 1: Good stuff, mate. You have a good Friday, Andrew.
- 28:30Speaker 5: Cheers, Keezy.
- 28:31Speaker 4: Good on you, mate. G'day, Ray, you mad bastard. How's life?
- 28:36Speaker 3: Hey, g'day, you sick son of a gun. This is
- 28:38Speaker 3: bloody magic.
- 28:39Speaker 4: Thank you. Excellent. What are you running with there, Ray? Oh, look.
- 28:45Speaker 3: Love a good game of Soggy Biscuit, so I have
- 28:47Speaker 3: to go with Old Mogi as well. Oh, yeah. I'll
- 28:51Speaker 3: join you any time, man. I'll be down in Wellies soon.
- 28:53Speaker 1: I'll do it. Have a good Friday, Ray. Thanks for
- 28:58Speaker 1: calling in.
- 28:58Speaker 5: Cheers, boys.
- 28:59Speaker 4: Thank you. Good on you, mates.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Right, so a bit of Limp Biscuit, man.
- 29:03Speaker 3: Get it in you, man.
- 29:04Speaker 4: Turn it up.
- 29:04Speaker 3: Crank it.
- 29:05Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 29:09Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 29:12Speaker 1: So come and get it.
- 29:13Speaker 4: Yes, just a little bit of... Limp Bizkit there.
- 29:16Speaker 6: Bizkit.
- 29:17Speaker 4: Hey, fellas, imagine listening to that in the changing rooms
- 29:20Speaker 4: and then getting the first pass and being the first
- 29:22Speaker 4: head up.
- 29:22Speaker 3: And getting absolutely flat.
- 29:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:26Speaker 1: That's right. The theme for today's Throbber, Mogi getting the
- 29:29Speaker 1: win there, was songs to fire up the Warriors, who
- 29:32Speaker 1: are playing tomorrow, of course. Just looking at the Throbber
- 29:35Speaker 1: scoreboard now, guys. Mogi, way out in front on 16 wins.
- 29:38Speaker 3: Thanks, man.
- 29:39Speaker 1: Amazing, man.
- 29:39Speaker 5: Well done.
- 29:40Speaker 3: I appreciate that, guys.
- 29:41Speaker 4: It's really great.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Keezy in second on 10 wins with one asterisk, the
- 29:45Speaker 1: asterisk being for playing two parts of a song. And
- 29:49Speaker 1: in third place, Jase on seven wins. I like to
- 29:54Speaker 1: think of it as 26 losses rather than seven wins,
- 29:56Speaker 1: but with two asterisks and a small D. Yeah.
- 30:01Speaker 4: What was my small D for? I forget.
- 30:03Speaker 1: I can't remember, man.
- 30:05Speaker 3: We normally make a note of them, but they're not
- 30:07Speaker 3: there for some reason.
- 30:07Speaker 1: You were disqualified for not even trying to follow a theme.
- 30:12Speaker 6: Similar to what he did tonight.
- 30:13Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's right. Disqualified. And that was the audience
- 30:16Speaker 3: disqualified you as well, not us. Did they? Yeah, that
- 30:18Speaker 3: was shocking. Shocking bastard.
- 30:20Speaker 2: That's terrible.
- 30:21Speaker 1: It is.
- 30:21Speaker 3: It's shocking bastard. You guys have got a couple of
- 30:23Speaker 3: weeks coming up, off as well coming up, so that's
- 30:26Speaker 3: good news for old Mogi. Yeah, it is.
- 30:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I think Mogi's got this in the bag unless
- 30:30Speaker 1: I stop picking tunes from live. I don't see that happening.
- 30:34Speaker 3: Well, that's the thing. It's a tricky one because that
- 30:36Speaker 3: was on theme, Keezy, but it was not a throbber.
- 30:38Speaker 1: The thing is, I had a throbber lined up, and
- 30:40Speaker 1: I was just like, when I thought about that pun,
- 30:42Speaker 1: I was like, oh, it's just right on the money.
- 30:44Speaker 3: It's too good. Will it win?
- 30:45Speaker 5: No.
- 30:45Speaker 4: It's just so good.
- 30:47Speaker 1: Because life sucks.
- 30:48Speaker 4: It just would have been so good had you. Hey,
- 30:51Speaker 4: now listen, big news. We've got Charlie Garber. Oh, yeah.
- 30:55Speaker 4: We're going to be speaking to him next.
- 30:56Speaker 3: I believe.
- 30:58Speaker 4: Well, very shortly.
- 31:00Speaker 1: He just looked at Pugs and Pugs shook his head.
- 31:02Speaker 4: He said 5.30, didn't he? It'll be nearly 5.30. Guys, guys.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Let's not fight about it now.
- 31:07Speaker 3: We'll speak to him soon, all right?
- 31:08Speaker 4: Well, I want to speak to him now!
- 31:10Speaker 6: Jase!
- 31:11Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 31:15Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 31:17Speaker 4: Yes indeed, Radiohead there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show
- 31:21Speaker 4: this Friday afternoon and fellas just one more sleep and
- 31:24Speaker 4: then it's all on. Da-doosh. Some rugby league action with
- 31:30Speaker 4: that in mind. I mean we had to, we had
- 31:32Speaker 4: to get rugby league legend.
- 31:34Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 31:35Speaker 4: Charlie Gubb on the line. Charlie you mad bastard, how's life?
- 31:40Speaker 5: Fellas, today life is good. The last few days, it's
- 31:44Speaker 5: been bad. I thought it was going to be over.
- 31:45Speaker 5: The flu got me, and I think if I was
- 31:48Speaker 5: made of any less stern of stuff than I'm made of,
- 31:51Speaker 5: maybe if I was cut from the same jib as you, Hoity,
- 31:53Speaker 5: I'd be gone. But I'm back, brother, so I'm a
- 31:57Speaker 5: Friday guy. I had to rise again.
- 31:59Speaker 1: How good, Charlie. Now, obviously, you got sick earlier this week,
- 32:02Speaker 1: which is why you went on the show. That sort
- 32:04Speaker 1: of came off the back of... And a Warriors old
- 32:07Speaker 1: boys weekend where you were up in Auckland rubbing shoulders
- 32:10Speaker 1: with some of your old mates. Do you think the
- 32:11Speaker 1: two were related at all?
- 32:14Speaker 5: I don't know. Can you get the flu from doing
- 32:17Speaker 5: two days of meth?
- 32:18Speaker 6: Don't know, actually.
- 32:21Speaker 4: Don't know.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 32:22Speaker 3: Were you sure in a pipe, man? I've told you
- 32:24Speaker 3: about that before.
- 32:26Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know. I think I might have picked
- 32:28Speaker 5: it up on a $ 50 bill.
- 32:29Speaker 3: Yeah, good stuff.
- 32:30Speaker 5: At the end of the day, you know, it's nighttime
- 32:33Speaker 5: and we're here, so let's just focus on the now.
- 32:35Speaker 4: Yeah, let's do it, man. Charlie, boy, oh, boy, it's
- 32:40Speaker 4: going to be a massive game tomorrow, obviously, against the Dolphins.
- 32:44Speaker 4: What's your feeling? Where do you think the boys are at?
- 32:47Speaker 4: How do you think it's going to go?
- 32:48Speaker 5: Honestly, while I was in my flu state, I was like, look,
- 32:54Speaker 5: kind of you read the media like, oh, our right edge, blah, blah, blah,
- 32:57Speaker 5: the Dolphins are good, we're blah, blah, blah. As I've
- 33:00Speaker 5: come out of it, I'm coming to Friday, I'm realizing
- 33:02Speaker 5: that we are the team and we're I think we're
- 33:06Speaker 5: just going to blow them off the park. Our forward
- 33:08Speaker 5: pack's too good. We've got seasoned veterans who we led
- 33:12Speaker 5: from a real winner in Fisher Harris. And I think
- 33:15Speaker 5: him and Barnett having forward back on the bench, Clark
- 33:19Speaker 5: through the middle, both our halves back, it's going to
- 33:23Speaker 5: be a massive performance and we'll win comfortably.
- 33:25Speaker 3: And my more nervy moments, Charlie, I think to myself,
- 33:29Speaker 3: is Herbie going to run through us? You know, is
- 33:33Speaker 3: their fullback going to destroy us? Is Cody Nicarima going
- 33:37Speaker 3: to have his way with us? But then I think
- 33:39Speaker 3: to myself, actually, I think we're going to absolutely pump them.
- 33:43Speaker 3: I think this is going to be like that Panthers game.
- 33:45Speaker 3: We are just going to be swarming and suffocating. I
- 33:48Speaker 3: hope so. That's my dream. That's my hope. But, jeez, man,
- 33:51Speaker 3: I don't think I've ever been this nervous going into
- 33:54Speaker 3: a final season. It's not like we get into a
- 33:56Speaker 3: lot of them. But when we've looked our best, 2002,
- 33:58Speaker 3: and I guess was it 11? Yeah. This time I'm
- 34:02Speaker 3: nervous because I think we can actually win the whole thing.
- 34:06Speaker 5: We can. We can. We can, Mogi. Start believing it.
- 34:09Speaker 5: We're going to win it. And we're going to be,
- 34:13Speaker 5: you know, we're going to be reviewing next week and
- 34:14Speaker 5: we'll be going into a bye. I think that obviously
- 34:19Speaker 5: dolphins are still super dangerous. But our scramble D is
- 34:23Speaker 5: really good too. If they make a line break, you know,
- 34:26Speaker 5: we've got Tane and Chance covering across. We've got, the
- 34:29Speaker 5: speed in, what's his name?
- 34:31Speaker 3: AKP. AKP, yeah.
- 34:32Speaker 5: AKP, yeah. Thank you, Keevy, for sticking around. How you been, man?
- 34:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Yeah, bloody good, Charlie. Better than you by the sounds
- 34:39Speaker 1: of it, mate. Sorry to hear you're a crook, man.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Are you going to be at the game tomorrow at all? No,
- 34:44Speaker 1: I won't be at the game.
- 34:45Speaker 5: I'll be at.
- 34:48Speaker 5: At home, and then possibly toss them over and sell
- 34:50Speaker 5: it after the game.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, fair enough, man. And obviously, we can't speak
- 34:55Speaker 1: to Charlie Gard without the great support of Porter King,
- 34:58Speaker 1: Wellington's premier portaloo company, which, of course, Charlie, you run, mate.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Does the business still function without you, with you sick
- 35:07Speaker 1: for the week?
- 35:09Speaker 5: Yeah, I still got on the truck and stuff like that,
- 35:12Speaker 5: and people were like, oh, you're not sick, are you?
- 35:15Speaker 5: I said, no, no, no.
- 35:17Speaker 4: Sweet as.
- 35:18Speaker 3: I'm good.
- 35:19Speaker 1: Hey, Charlie, thanks so much for having a yarn to us, mate.
- 35:22Speaker 1: Score prediction before we let you go?
- 35:23Speaker 4: 36-18.
- 35:29Speaker 3: Thanks, man. I was going 42-12. I like that.
- 35:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I hope so. I really do hope so.
- 35:34Speaker 4: The Dolphins?
- 35:35Speaker 6: What?
- 35:36Speaker 5: What?
- 35:37Speaker 3: What?
- 35:38Speaker 4: You mean the Dolphins, 32-18?
- 35:41Speaker 5: Nah, bro, you're going to get the common sharers knocking
- 35:43Speaker 5: on your door.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Thanks, Charlie, mate.
- 35:47Speaker 1: We'll chat to you after the game.
- 35:48Speaker 3: See you, bro.
- 35:49Speaker 4: Good on you, mate.
- 35:51Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 35:55Speaker 3: Oh, yes, indeed.
- 35:56Speaker 4: Stone Temple Pilots there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show.
- 35:59Speaker 4: This Friday evening, the time is 5.41.
- 36:01Speaker 3: Fellas, old Mogi's got a birthday coming up.
- 36:03Speaker 4: You sure do, man.
- 36:04Speaker 3: And it's a big one. It's a milestone one, fellas.
- 36:06Speaker 3: It's my 50th.
- 36:08Speaker 4: Wow. Mate, you don't look. Any older than 49.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Well put, Jase.
- 36:16Speaker 3: He's done me this.
- 36:17Speaker 1: I would say you look great. In fact, I'd say
- 36:19Speaker 1: you look younger than Jase, even though he's 39. It's weird,
- 36:22Speaker 1: isn't it?
- 36:23Speaker 3: It is crazy. But he's had a hell of a life,
- 36:25Speaker 3: old Jase.
- 36:26Speaker 1: Yeah, it's been pretty rough, Keezy.
- 36:29Speaker 3: And I'm wondering what it is that I should do
- 36:30Speaker 3: about it because I'm getting messages from my mates that
- 36:33Speaker 3: I grow up with. What are you doing for your 50th, man?
- 36:35Speaker 3: You've got to do something, man. There's not many of
- 36:37Speaker 3: these Molstein birthdays around, man. You've got to celebrate it.
- 36:40Speaker 3: You can't let it go past. We've got to get
- 36:41Speaker 3: on it. We've got to get on it.
- 36:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 36:44Speaker 3: I don't really want to.
- 36:45Speaker 1: Yes.
- 36:46Speaker 4: I'm busy.
- 36:46Speaker 3: I've got things on.
- 36:47Speaker 1: And that is like you do want to.
- 36:50Speaker 3: Absolutely I want to. Of course I want to. Every
- 36:53Speaker 3: day we want to. Every day I want to get on.
- 36:55Speaker 3: I'm sitting here thinking today, I'm thinking, God, I want
- 36:57Speaker 3: to get on it.
- 36:58Speaker 4: It's Friday night. I want to get on it. Yeah, yeah.
- 37:00Speaker 3: I can't get on it because all I'm thinking about
- 37:02Speaker 3: when I'm thinking about I want to get on it
- 37:04Speaker 3: is that tomorrow I've got to be awake.
- 37:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 37:06Speaker 3: And I've got to be active and I've got to
- 37:08Speaker 3: live my life and I can't do it hungover.
- 37:10Speaker 1: The other thing too is you can't do like a
- 37:11Speaker 1: radio show or a podcast or anything whilst on it.
- 37:14Speaker 1: You know, that would be.
- 37:16Speaker 3: I've never seen it happen before, that's for sure.
- 37:17Speaker 4: No, neither.
- 37:18Speaker 5: You know.
- 37:20Speaker 3: And then I've got, on the other side of it,
- 37:24Speaker 3: I've got my wife and my brother-in-law, actually. Why don't
- 37:27Speaker 3: we just go away for a nice weekend somewhere? That
- 37:29Speaker 3: sounds nice.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:30Speaker 3: That does sound nice. That sounds good. But then it's like, well,
- 37:34Speaker 3: who do you invite?
- 37:36Speaker 4: That's right.
- 37:36Speaker 3: Because it's us, but then I'd like some mates to
- 37:38Speaker 3: come as well, and then I'd start doing that. Well,
- 37:41Speaker 3: that mate's not available at that time, and that mate's
- 37:43Speaker 3: not available.
- 37:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:44Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 37:44Speaker 3: But I want that mate there.
- 37:45Speaker 4: I was going to say, you've got the complication, too,
- 37:47Speaker 4: of not just getting on it or not getting on it.
- 37:50Speaker 4: It's who do you invite?
- 37:51Speaker 3: Who do you invite?
- 37:52Speaker 4: Obviously, Keezy and I. Exactly right. We'd be first on
- 37:56Speaker 4: the list there, I imagine.
- 37:58Speaker 3: Well, then out the back of the conversation about who's
- 38:00Speaker 3: going to stay is, well, maybe we could have a lunch.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Yes.
- 38:03Speaker 3: And then we could invite more people, and those people
- 38:05Speaker 3: could come along. But then who do you bring to that?
- 38:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:07Speaker 3: There's a cap on that. There's only so many people
- 38:09Speaker 3: that come to that. Do you really want all those
- 38:11Speaker 3: people to come that think that they should be coming?
- 38:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:15Speaker 3: After all these years?
- 38:16Speaker 1: Well, I think if you– so obviously me and Hoiti J,
- 38:18Speaker 1: and then if you did extend it to like a
- 38:20Speaker 1: wider lunch, then that's when your pugs and the rest
- 38:23Speaker 1: of the Hauraki office would sort of filter in.
- 38:24Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 38:25Speaker 3: Well, I don't think we have to even worry about that.
- 38:29Speaker 3: But I've got to make a decision because I think
- 38:31Speaker 3: probably what's going to have to happen is I've got
- 38:32Speaker 3: to do something this year and then I've got to
- 38:33Speaker 3: do something bigger next year.
- 38:35Speaker 4: What you don't want to happen– Is to do what
- 38:39Speaker 4: Keezy did with his wedding.
- 38:40Speaker 3: Oh, I know.
- 38:41Speaker 4: And he still to this day goes, jeez.
- 38:44Speaker 1: What did I do with it?
- 38:45Speaker 4: I'm sorry, fellas, that I didn't.
- 38:47Speaker 3: When Keezy famously, you know, you remember this, Keezy, of course,
- 38:50Speaker 3: when you famously didn't invite your co-host, old hoody Joe
- 38:53Speaker 3: Mogie there. That's right, yeah. It wasn't my fault. You know,
- 38:56Speaker 3: and he had... We worked really hard on that speech,
- 38:59Speaker 3: and then to have him kick us in the teeth
- 39:01Speaker 3: like that and not even invite us was shocking. And
- 39:04Speaker 3: it's taken us years to get over it, if we
- 39:06Speaker 3: even are over it.
- 39:06Speaker 4: I don't think I am. No.
- 39:08Speaker 1: Right, okay.
- 39:09Speaker 3: So what are we talking about here? This is an
- 39:13Speaker 3: intervention keynote. You're a shocking bastard.
- 39:16Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:17Speaker 3: Fair enough. Hey, I'm sorry, fellas. Anyway, I've got to
- 39:19Speaker 3: make a decision. So maybe over the coming weeks we
- 39:21Speaker 3: can work towards what it's going to be for Old Mogan.
- 39:23Speaker 3: I'm happy to take any suggestions on your 3403.
- 39:25Speaker 1: Yeah, because it is a biggie. It's a biggie.
- 39:26Speaker 3: That's the thing. I've got a mate. I've got a
- 39:28Speaker 3: really good mate, and he let it go. by. He
- 39:31Speaker 3: let it go by. Now he's 52, and he hasn't
- 39:33Speaker 3: done it. And I don't think you can– I don't
- 39:35Speaker 3: think you can be 52 and have a 50th. I
- 39:37Speaker 3: think you've got to do it around the time. It's
- 39:39Speaker 3: like watching a game on replay instead of live. Yeah.
- 39:43Speaker 1: You know, it's actually a 51st birthday. It's not as exciting.
- 39:45Speaker 4: Well, I'll be honest with you. It's way off for
- 39:47Speaker 4: me at the moment.
- 39:48Speaker 5: Yeah, I know.
- 39:48Speaker 4: But I'm already planning it.
- 39:50Speaker 3: Well, hopefully you could learn from me, man. I mean,
- 39:51Speaker 3: I've got my 50th, and then after that I've got
- 39:53Speaker 3: my 60th, and then after that I've got my funeral.
- 39:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 39:56Speaker 3: So this is one of the last two big ones,
- 39:58Speaker 3: you know?
- 39:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 40:01Speaker 3: What are you guys going to get me, by the way?
- 40:02Speaker 3: Because it's a big one. You don't want to get
- 40:04Speaker 3: me nothing. Gotta get me something. I've got a few
- 40:06Speaker 3: things in mind, mate.
- 40:07Speaker 4: You don't worry about that, mate. Should we steal him
- 40:09Speaker 4: some chips? Yeah, I think so.
- 40:10Speaker 1: I'm getting some Reburger.
- 40:13Speaker 5: A voucher?
- 40:14Speaker 4: Yeah. Well, no, I'd rather.
- 40:15Speaker 3: Have that, but... Well, we could have a Backbone shirt, mate.
- 40:18Speaker 4: Yeah, Backbone, maybe one of those how-racky bottle openers.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Yeah, how-racky.
- 40:23Speaker 4: Actually, hey, listen, wait.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Mother of my phone, what?
- 40:25Speaker 4: A flavour puffer jacket.
- 40:27Speaker 5: Yeah, OK.
- 40:28Speaker 3: I'll agree with you.
- 40:29Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 40:33Speaker 4: The clash there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
- 40:36Speaker 4: Friday evening. The time is exactly five minutes to six o'clock.
- 40:40Speaker 1: Fellas, let's name a beer.
- 40:41Speaker 4: I think I'll have myself a beer.
- 40:48Speaker 1: We're looking for.
- 40:49Speaker 2: Sorry, mate.
- 40:52Speaker 1: We're looking for texts on.
- 40:53Speaker 4: You're just super excited, Keezy. That's understandable. Yeah, man.
- 40:56Speaker 1: We're looking for texts on 3483 naming our beer for
- 41:00Speaker 1: the Dunedin Beer Festival. Emerson's are... They're a massive supporter
- 41:04Speaker 1: of the Bear Festival. They've brought us down a few
- 41:06Speaker 1: times for the Bear Festival to do live shows. This
- 41:09Speaker 1: time they're making a tropical, hazy, pale ale to celebrate
- 41:11Speaker 1: the fact that the Bear Festival is happening once again.
- 41:14Speaker 1: If you want tickets, DunedinBearFestival.co.nz. It's happening November 27th and 28th.
- 41:18Speaker 1: That's Friday, Saturday at Forsyth Bar Stadium. So 3483, flick
- 41:23Speaker 1: any names through that you think would be a good
- 41:25Speaker 1: name for the big show bear. Here are a few
- 41:27Speaker 1: from earlier fellas. Taking care of jizzness. Taking care of jizzness.
- 41:33Speaker 4: I like that.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Would you order that at the bar? Yes.
- 41:39Speaker 4: Yes, I would. Yeah. Yes, I would.
- 41:41Speaker 1: I don't know if I would.
- 41:42Speaker 3: But I'd shorten it up. It'd end up with a nickname.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Jizzness.
- 41:45Speaker 3: Yeah. I think so.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Two and a half hazies instead of mogies.
- 41:51Speaker 3: One and a half mogies. It doesn't really make sense. No,
- 41:53Speaker 3: it's worth a shot, though.
- 41:55Speaker 4: Gave it a crack. Gave it a nudge, Keezy.
- 41:57Speaker 1: The crazy feel is hazy. crazy feel is hazy because
- 42:02Speaker 1: it's crazy it's hazy.
- 42:03Speaker 3: Yeah i see that those words rhyme get it man
- 42:06Speaker 3: yeah yeah yeah oh this one's terrible um.
- 42:09Speaker 1: Don't even want no i'm reading this one out keezy
- 42:11Speaker 1: on all bottle caps looking over his big butt with
- 42:13Speaker 1: me keezy yep well that's top two that's terrible.
- 42:18Speaker 3: That's top two there's something with three honkers number one
- 42:21Speaker 3: for me.
- 42:22Speaker 1: What about Jizzmeister?
- 42:24Speaker 3: The master of the jizz.
- 42:25Speaker 1: Jizzmeister, like Jägermeister, I guess.
- 42:28Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 42:29Speaker 1: What's in the can with me? Keezy.
- 42:33Speaker 3: That's good.
- 42:33Speaker 4: Yeah, not bad.
- 42:34Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 42:34Speaker 1: That would be very funny. Seeing that on a beer
- 42:36Speaker 1: would be amazing. The Hazy Areola Grande.
- 42:41Speaker 6: What?
- 42:44Speaker 1: I love that.
- 42:45Speaker 3: That makes no sense, so that's good.
- 42:47Speaker 1: That's good shit. Parker Pale Ale. The feel is brewski.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Donkey bitter. It's difficult, isn't it?
- 42:56Speaker 4: Yeah, it is.
- 42:57Speaker 3: It's a tricky thing. I like the play on words
- 43:00Speaker 3: of jizz, taking care of jizzness.
- 43:02Speaker 1: It's good stuff.
- 43:03Speaker 4: The donkey what?
- 43:04Speaker 3: It's jizzness time.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Donkey. Can't remember. Donkey bitter. Just donkey bitter.
- 43:12Speaker 3: Donkey.
- 43:13Speaker 1: No, donkey.
- 43:14Speaker 3: Yeah, donkey.
- 43:15Speaker 1: No, not my dad, Don.
- 43:16Speaker 3: Yeah, your dad.
- 43:16Speaker 1: No, no, no. Donkey bitter.
- 43:18Speaker 4: Donkey, actually donkey.
- 43:20Speaker 3: Otherwise, what's he doing?
- 43:22Speaker 1: Yeah, true.
- 43:22Speaker 3: What's it got to do with us? Exactly.
- 43:24Speaker 1: Keep the text coming. It's hard. And you can win
- 43:27Speaker 1: an Emerson's hoodie. In fact, Pugs is going to dish
- 43:30Speaker 1: out a couple right now, fellas.
- 43:31Speaker 4: Beautiful.
- 43:32Speaker 1: And don't forget DunedinBearFest.co.nz if you want tickets.
- 43:37Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 43:40Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 43:43Speaker 4: Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Friday's going off.
- 43:46Speaker 4: You're listening to The Big Show brought to you by Reburger.
- 43:50Speaker 1: Serving good times and good food. Dine in or take
- 43:53Speaker 1: away Reburger today.
- 43:55Speaker 4: Reburger.
- 43:58Speaker 1: Mogi just ate dinner, fellas.
- 44:00Speaker 3: Yeah. And it looked disgusting. Well, it's a snack. Was
- 44:03Speaker 3: that a snack? It was a snack, yeah. Tied me
- 44:05Speaker 3: over to get me over dinner. If I ate all
- 44:08Speaker 3: of it, it probably would have been dinner.
- 44:09Speaker 1: Picture this. A Tupperware container with rice in it.
- 44:12Speaker 3: Well, can I tell you what it is? Wait, can
- 44:13Speaker 3: I describe it first? Okay, sure.
- 44:15Speaker 1: Rice in it, some beans of some sort. They look
- 44:18Speaker 1: like coffee beans, sort of. Some tofu and some falafel
- 44:20Speaker 1: all mixed together. Is that what it is?
- 44:22Speaker 3: No.
- 44:23Speaker 1: What is it?
- 44:25Speaker 3: Coriander and lime rice. My wife's made this. That sounds
- 44:31Speaker 3: like it's out of a packet. With black beans, Keezy,
- 44:35Speaker 3: not coffee beans. Cajun tofu. And edamame smash.
- 44:43Speaker 1: Oh, so it's not falafel.
- 44:44Speaker 3: It's edamame. Now, I thought it was, I don't know
- 44:46Speaker 3: what it was. Now, my wife had texted me this
- 44:48Speaker 3: last night.
- 44:49Speaker 5: Right.
- 44:49Speaker 3: But we were too late to talk about it. So
- 44:52Speaker 3: I have it for leftovers the next day, you see.
- 44:54Speaker 3: So this is what I've had. Look, I don't think
- 44:58Speaker 3: we'll be keeping the recipes. Yeah, we haven't eaten all
- 45:00Speaker 3: of it, so I assume it's... Oh, I'm just full, eh?
- 45:03Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 45:03Speaker 3: Just real full.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Shame it looks yum.
- 45:06Speaker 3: You can have the rest of it.
- 45:07Speaker 7: Nah.
- 45:08Speaker 4: Go on, Keezy. You have it.
- 45:10Speaker 1: Nah, I don't want to ruin my appetite, man.
- 45:12Speaker 4: Hey, Keezy.
- 45:12Speaker 1: What's up?
- 45:13Speaker 3: I dare you.
- 45:15Speaker 4: What are you having then, Keezy?
- 45:17Speaker 1: Do you remember when I went to Waiheke Island a
- 45:18Speaker 1: few weeks ago?
- 45:19Speaker 4: Yes.
- 45:20Speaker 1: We had a couple of leftover patties. And so we
- 45:23Speaker 1: froze them again. You guys love your freezer, eh? Is
- 45:27Speaker 1: there anyone that rotates out of the freezer like you two?
- 45:29Speaker 4: No.
- 45:30Speaker 3: A couple of weapons.
- 45:31Speaker 1: I got my patties out earlier today and they're defrosting.
- 45:34Speaker 1: And then we'll go home after the show and eat those.
- 45:36Speaker 1: It's going to be yummy, haven't we?
- 45:38Speaker 4: Eat your own patties. That's gross.
- 45:41Speaker 5: Yeah, man.
- 45:41Speaker 1: What are you having, Jase?
- 45:43Speaker 4: Spare ribs. Duck fat roast potatoes.
- 45:47Speaker 3: Again.
- 45:47Speaker 5: Leftover?
- 45:49Speaker 4: No, I'm going to make them.
- 45:51Speaker 1: No leftover duck fat from the come dine with me?
- 45:53Speaker 4: Yes.
- 45:54Speaker 3: Just make sure your wife helps you with the packet,
- 45:56Speaker 3: closing it up. Yeah, because that's very confusing.
- 45:59Speaker 4: And a nice maybe leafy green salad with a bit
- 46:03Speaker 4: of avocado in there. Sounds terrible. I like to shave.
- 46:07Speaker 4: A little bit of parmesan cheese on my salads, too,
- 46:10Speaker 4: just as a little bit.
- 46:11Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. You know what you should mix in there, man?
- 46:13Speaker 1: Some coffee beans, like mogi.
- 46:15Speaker 3: Yeah, sounds yum.
- 46:16Speaker 4: Yum.
- 46:17Speaker 3: So good.
- 46:17Speaker 1: Hey, do you guys, like, rage against the machine?
- 46:19Speaker 3: I always do.
- 46:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 46:22Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 46:26Speaker 4: Blink-182 there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Friday evening.
- 46:30Speaker 3: Do you know that song there, Blink-182, I Miss You?
- 46:32Speaker 3: That was written by the band about someone that they missed.
- 46:36Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Oh, really? Yeah, yeah. Wow, that's amazing. What's on the
- 46:42Speaker 1: news with me? Fellas, huge news stories come across my
- 46:51Speaker 1: desk and I felt so compelled.
- 46:54Speaker 4: You don't have a desk.
- 46:55Speaker 1: I was thinking the same thing, Jase. Sorry, no, it's
- 46:58Speaker 1: just a turn of phrase. A huge news story has
- 47:00Speaker 1: been brought to my attention.
- 47:02Speaker 4: By who?
- 47:03Speaker 1: Well, by me looking at the news.
- 47:05Speaker 6: Yeah, right.
- 47:06Speaker 1: So there's a fella, an Australian lawyer, right?
- 47:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 47:10Speaker 3: It sounds like the start of a bad joke, but
- 47:12Speaker 3: instead it's the start of a bad news story. Is
- 47:14Speaker 3: that right?
- 47:15Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Well, no, give it a chance, man.
- 47:16Speaker 4: What kind of lawyer?
- 47:18Speaker 1: I don't know. It doesn't say, man. I think he
- 47:20Speaker 1: works for a big company because he was on a
- 47:22Speaker 1: big company-wide Zoom video chat.
- 47:24Speaker 3: Oh, God. Here we go. So this is sort of
- 47:26Speaker 3: one of those things that's passed off as news, but
- 47:29Speaker 3: really it's... Just a minor event in somebody's life. 100%.
- 47:33Speaker 1: So this guy, he was on a group Zoom with
- 47:36Speaker 1: the whole company there.
- 47:38Speaker 3: Steamer related?
- 47:39Speaker 1: And he didn't realise but his camera was still on
- 47:43Speaker 1: and he went into the toilet and he put the
- 47:45Speaker 1: laptop on the ground looking up at him and then
- 47:50Speaker 1: did a steamer.
- 47:51Speaker 3: How old is this story?
- 47:53Speaker 1: Four hours.
- 47:55Speaker 4: He did a steamer for four hours?
- 47:57Speaker 5: Yes.
- 48:01Speaker 1: No, it's how old the story is.
- 48:04Speaker 3: What's interesting about this story is this story has been
- 48:06Speaker 3: reported a billion times.
- 48:08Speaker 1: Yeah, but there's... What's happened?
- 48:10Speaker 3: Is it someone famous? Because this story, I'll be honest
- 48:14Speaker 3: with you, it needs something more because I've heard this
- 48:16Speaker 3: story before.
- 48:17Speaker 1: Yeah. Did I not mention George Clooney?
- 48:20Speaker 3: Was it the Cloon?
- 48:21Speaker 4: No, it was the Cloonster.
- 48:22Speaker 1: It was the Cloonster.
- 48:23Speaker 5: Right.
- 48:24Speaker 1: Well, it wasn't him. It was his lawyer because I
- 48:25Speaker 1: said it was a lawyer, didn't I? And he's an Aussie.
- 48:28Speaker 1: Filming a new film.
- 48:29Speaker 7: Right.
- 48:30Speaker 1: The Clunes dude.
- 48:30Speaker 3: So it's just some dude.
- 48:33Speaker 1: Doing poos.
- 48:33Speaker 3: With hundreds of people on his own.
- 48:35Speaker 1: It wasn't hundreds, Moe. You don't be ridiculous, man. It
- 48:37Speaker 1: was like 30. But the funny thing about it, guys, is.
- 48:40Speaker 4: I mean, if he had a hot pot.
- 48:42Speaker 3: Yeah, what have we got?
- 48:43Speaker 4: I mean, if he had. I don't know.
- 48:44Speaker 1: I haven't rifled through his leavings.
- 48:46Speaker 3: Well, I'm just sort of wondering what you're leaving on
- 48:47Speaker 3: the table in terms of what's in the story. Because
- 48:50Speaker 3: this cannot be it.
- 48:51Speaker 4: No.
- 48:51Speaker 3: It cannot be it.
- 48:52Speaker 1: He can be seen putting his laptop on the floor
- 48:54Speaker 1: before lifting the toilet seat, dropping his pants. um yeah
- 48:59Speaker 1: no it's just that is it you no i'm not
- 49:02Speaker 1: a lawyer so you don't think this is good news
- 49:05Speaker 1: i think this is great news this is right i.
- 49:08Speaker 3: Guess what's interesting about it and the only thing that's
- 49:10Speaker 3: interesting about it is how often it's happened and how
- 49:14Speaker 3: often it's been you know you've.
- 49:15Speaker 1: Heard this story before keezy this is not a unique
- 49:18Speaker 1: story oh it's the first time i've heard of anything
- 49:20Speaker 1: like this happening. What a wacky thing accidentally happening on
- 49:22Speaker 1: Zoom in a group meeting.
- 49:23Speaker 3: Although, to be fair, I've just found the same article
- 49:26Speaker 3: while I'm talking to you, and you can actually see
- 49:28Speaker 3: his downstairs hanging out.
- 49:29Speaker 4: Oh, so does he have his... Well, you see, that's interesting.
- 49:32Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 49:32Speaker 4: Because, I mean, I don't know about you guys. I
- 49:34Speaker 4: don't have my downstairs metesties hanging out when I'm doing
- 49:37Speaker 4: a steamer.
- 49:37Speaker 3: He exposes himself while apparently unaware his camera.
- 49:40Speaker 6: Is still on.
- 49:41Speaker 4: Oh, well, then it makes sense.
- 49:43Speaker 3: And can I say what's even more interesting about this
- 49:45Speaker 3: guy is that he's defecating... In the most relaxed style.
- 49:48Speaker 3: He's sitting back. He's not leaning forward with his elbows
- 49:52Speaker 3: on his knees. He's sitting back.
- 49:54Speaker 4: Just going, here we go.
- 49:55Speaker 3: In an erect style. We need to get into this. Jase,
- 49:58Speaker 3: you strike me as the kind of guy that sits back.
- 50:01Speaker 4: Does the lean back.
- 50:01Speaker 3: Are you a forward leaner or an erectus?
- 50:04Speaker 1: Are you the thinking man?
- 50:05Speaker 4: I've got to be honest with you. I'm a cramper.
- 50:08Speaker 3: What's that mean?
- 50:09Speaker 4: Well, it means I arch forward.
- 50:11Speaker 3: Yeah, so do I.
- 50:13Speaker 4: And I get low.
- 50:14Speaker 3: Yeah, same.
- 50:14Speaker 4: I get low.
- 50:15Speaker 1: I've never sat back like that. Pug strikes me as
- 50:18Speaker 1: treating it like a lazy boy.
- 50:20Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 50:21Speaker 3: This guy looks like he's waiting at a bus stop
- 50:25Speaker 3: or doing anything other.
- 50:28Speaker 1: See, he told you it's interesting.
- 50:29Speaker 4: Sitting out on the patio having a durry. And a bearzy.
- 50:34Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's what he looks like. See, I told
- 50:35Speaker 1: you this is a good news story, fellas.
- 50:36Speaker 3: You're welcome.
- 50:38Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 50:42Speaker 4: Space Hog there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this
- 50:45Speaker 4: Friday evening. And, fellas, and I know you're not going
- 50:48Speaker 4: to agree with me on this, but I'm beginning to
- 50:51Speaker 4: feel like I'm growing into a grumpy old man.
- 50:53Speaker 5: All right.
- 50:55Speaker 4: It's interesting because we were talking AI yesterday on the show,
- 50:59Speaker 4: you know, and technology and all that stuff. And, you know,
- 51:02Speaker 4: I guess it's probably common knowledge that people know that
- 51:05Speaker 4: I'm not a big fan of technology. It's not my friend.
- 51:09Speaker 4: Can I put it that way?
- 51:10Speaker 1: You're talking about, like, computers and stuff.
- 51:11Speaker 4: Computers, phones, all that kind of jazz. It just doesn't
- 51:16Speaker 4: do it for me. I wasn't designed for it. You
- 51:20Speaker 4: know what I'm saying?
- 51:21Speaker 1: Sure.
- 51:21Speaker 4: Now, I've got an acting job coming up, and this
- 51:23Speaker 4: is a case in point. And I had to fill
- 51:27Speaker 4: out all these forms, right? And you go on into
- 51:31Speaker 4: your email and it says, could you click on this
- 51:33Speaker 4: and fill it all out? And it's like, yes, I
- 51:38Speaker 4: guess so.
- 51:39Speaker 1: So like two minutes work?
- 51:40Speaker 4: No, it wasn't two minutes work.
- 51:42Speaker 3: But you didn't know that beforehand.
- 51:44Speaker 4: Did you? I didn't know it beforehand. And so you
- 51:46Speaker 4: click on it, and then it's like, password to access
- 51:50Speaker 4: this thing. I don't have a password!
- 51:53Speaker 1: Do you check your emails?
- 51:54Speaker 4: And this is the thing that I've discovered, is that
- 51:56Speaker 4: I have no patience. Immediately no patience.
- 51:58Speaker 3: I was just going to say, so you've gone zero
- 52:00Speaker 3: to a hundred there. Yes, immediately. You've got an email,
- 52:02Speaker 3: fill this form out, okay, where's your password?
- 52:05Speaker 4: What password? And that's exactly what I said. So I
- 52:10Speaker 4: went back to the email.
- 52:11Speaker 3: Which would have taken about... An eighth of a second.
- 52:14Speaker 4: You know, and it was, well, not in my house.
- 52:16Speaker 3: It was like, oh, now hang on. Where are my glasses?
- 52:19Speaker 4: I'll save that as a draft. Yeah, yes, where are
- 52:21Speaker 4: my glasses? And there's no password. And it's like, oh,
- 52:25Speaker 4: for God's sake. And so then you have to email
- 52:29Speaker 4: the people that sent you the email and go, sorry,
- 52:31Speaker 4: there doesn't seem to be a password for me to access.
- 52:35Speaker 4: And they said, actually, in fairness to me, oh, no, sorry,
- 52:39Speaker 4: we didn't send that. And so here's the password. Yeah.
- 52:42Speaker 4: And then you get the password and then it's, you know,
- 52:44Speaker 4: putting it in there.
- 52:45Speaker 1: Typing that in.
- 52:46Speaker 3: Copy and paste it, yeah.
- 52:47Speaker 4: Oh, I can't copy and paste.
- 52:48Speaker 3: That's the other thing.
- 52:49Speaker 4: Yeah, true.
- 52:49Speaker 1: Just copy and paste it. You wouldn't be able to
- 52:51Speaker 1: do that.
- 52:52Speaker 4: I can't do that. Why not?
- 52:54Speaker 6: And then it's like all.
- 52:56Speaker 4: These bloody questions.
- 52:57Speaker 3: Yeah, like what sort of things?
- 52:59Speaker 4: Name. You know, like where were you located in 1997?
- 53:02Speaker 1: Yeah, when mad cow disease was happening.
- 53:06Speaker 4: You know, just– and it's like– It drives me insane,
- 53:10Speaker 4: the amount of admin. Like back in the day when
- 53:12Speaker 4: I got an acting job, this is how it worked, right?
- 53:14Speaker 4: And this is not this particular company. It's just how
- 53:16Speaker 4: it is now. They'd go, okay, you go and do
- 53:20Speaker 4: your audition. They'd go, you got the part. You go,
- 53:21Speaker 4: thanks for that. That's great.
- 53:23Speaker 1: Did you ever have to fill out a form?
- 53:25Speaker 4: Well, you'd fill out a little, you know, hard copy
- 53:28Speaker 4: when you're doing the audition. All your details, no problem.
- 53:31Speaker 4: You get the part and they go, okay, here's the script.
- 53:33Speaker 4: Learn the lines. We want you here on this day.
- 53:35Speaker 4: See you then. Beautiful. Now it's like, do you do this?
- 53:39Speaker 4: What are your preferences for this? Where are you located now?
- 53:43Speaker 4: And it just goes. And then I had to click
- 53:45Speaker 4: into another one and sign up, you know, read the
- 53:48Speaker 4: contract and stuff. And I just went batshit crazy.
- 53:52Speaker 1: Far out.
- 53:53Speaker 3: Have you considered just sort of just hanging up your boots, man?
- 53:57Speaker 6: Yes.
- 53:58Speaker 3: Just take a walk into the ocean in the air.
- 54:00Speaker 4: Well, as I spoke to you about it today on
- 54:02Speaker 4: the podcast outro, I was so fired up. I immediately,
- 54:07Speaker 4: after I finished, started looking for rental properties in Russell.
- 54:10Speaker 4: And that is not a lie because I was so
- 54:13Speaker 4: stressed out about it. But it just feels like there's
- 54:16Speaker 4: so much unnecessary admin. Even when you go to a
- 54:18Speaker 4: restaurant now, it's like, oh, for God's sake.
- 54:21Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 54:22Speaker 4: You know, you've got to scan the menu and you've
- 54:24Speaker 4: got to do all this crap. It's just like, can
- 54:26Speaker 4: I just order it, please?
- 54:29Speaker 3: You've tapped into something there for me, Jase. I completely agree.
- 54:32Speaker 3: Why do you need my email address when all I
- 54:35Speaker 3: want is something to eat? Why do you need my
- 54:37Speaker 3: phone number?
- 54:38Speaker 1: Yes.
- 54:39Speaker 3: And then they come up with some bullshit, it's like,
- 54:42Speaker 3: mind your goddamn business.
- 54:44Speaker 1: Just give me the hot pot and leave me alone.
- 54:46Speaker 3: Thank you. Exactly.
- 54:48Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 55:04Speaker 4: Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's a big
- 55:06Speaker 4: show done and dusted for you Friday. Hope you enjoyed it.
- 55:09Speaker 4: In the disclaimer today, we talked about all sorts of stuff.
- 55:13Speaker 4: But what clip have you got for us, Keezy?
- 55:15Speaker 1: Yeah, today's disclaimer podcast, which is bonus content, comes out
- 55:18Speaker 1: at 7.30. We discussed Jace being stressed.
- 55:22Speaker 3: Get in, get in.
- 55:24Speaker 4: I was so f * * * ing fired up
- 55:26Speaker 4: today on the computer trying to sort shit out, right?
- 55:28Speaker 3: I wish I was there, man.
- 55:29Speaker 4: You know what I did? This is truly what I did.
- 55:33Speaker 4: I went online and went, rental property, Russell.
- 55:36Speaker 6: Boom.
- 55:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 55:42Speaker 1: That's interesting. I don't know what I do when I
- 55:43Speaker 1: get stressed. I don't have a thing that I do.
- 55:46Speaker 4: Well, I used to go and punch some darts, usually.
- 55:49Speaker 3: Yeah, well, now you've only got the.
- 55:50Speaker 4: The vape. And I can't be arsed going outside to vape.
- 55:54Speaker 4: So I'll just smash it inside. No, I don't. Hey, Mogi. Well,
- 56:01Speaker 4: I don't really need to ask what you're doing for
- 56:03Speaker 4: the weekend.
- 56:04Speaker 1: It's going to be rugby.
- 56:05Speaker 3: League all over. I'll be a bit of buck my
- 56:07Speaker 3: league tomorrow night. Absolutely got a bit of work to do.
- 56:11Speaker 4: What else?
- 56:12Speaker 3: What else? Look, I've got a real urge in me, man.
- 56:16Speaker 1: I'm worried that your life is just.
- 56:18Speaker 3: Keezy, I want you to know I love it, man.
- 56:20Speaker 1: You do?
- 56:20Speaker 3: I absolutely love it.
- 56:22Speaker 1: I hope so.
- 56:22Speaker 3: I really do. But, yeah, what else have we got?
- 56:26Speaker 3: I'm not sure if it's a sunny weekend. That game's
- 56:28Speaker 3: not until 6 o'clock. So, I don't know. Don't know.
- 56:31Speaker 3: We'll get something in around about 4 o'clock. Got to
- 56:33Speaker 3: maybe visit some mates.
- 56:34Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 56:35Speaker 3: Not a lot on, man, to be honest with you.
- 56:36Speaker 3: Just a nice, chill bar.
- 56:38Speaker 4: I think the weather's pretty good.
- 56:40Speaker 1: Oh, good.
- 56:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 56:41Speaker 1: Keezy? Minaya has booked a pub spot for us 2 p.m.
- 56:46Speaker 6: Tomorrow.
- 56:47Speaker 1: It's like a golf simulator pub thing.
- 56:49Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 56:49Speaker 1: Then we're going to go from there to Lily World
- 56:51Speaker 1: next to Mount Smart.
- 56:52Speaker 2: Yep.
- 56:53Speaker 1: 3 p.m., 4 p.m. Get loaded up responsibly. Watch the Waz.
- 56:58Speaker 1: Hopefully celebrate the win afterwards hungover on Sunday.
- 57:00Speaker 3: Oh, my God. And Monday.
- 57:01Speaker 1: Nah, it won't be one of those biggies.
- 57:03Speaker 3: Just, you know.
- 57:04Speaker 4: And Tuesday, Wednesday.
- 57:05Speaker 1: Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. Hey, what are you up to, Jase?
- 57:09Speaker 5: What?
- 57:09Speaker 4: Tonight or?
- 57:11Speaker 1: I don't know, man. I mean, you're just going to
- 57:12Speaker 1: say the same, you know, oh, I'm going to go home,
- 57:14Speaker 1: my wife, see what she's up to and.
- 57:18Speaker 4: I think, well, obviously, on the Saturday, you've got your wars.
- 57:25Speaker 4: But I'm not going to be like you, Backbones. I
- 57:26Speaker 4: think I'll just be cruising and not doing anything special.
- 57:30Speaker 4: Maybe tidying up a bit.
- 57:31Speaker 3: Do you think people listening to us over the last
- 57:32Speaker 3: couple of minutes are going to want to come back
- 57:34Speaker 3: on Monday?
- 57:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so, man. I don't think so. I
- 57:36Speaker 1: think they think these guys are so boring.
- 57:38Speaker 3: They're done, right? They're done.
- 57:39Speaker 4: And also, let's not forget the All Blacks.
- 57:42Speaker 5: Oh!
- 57:43Speaker 4: The decider on Sunday.
- 57:44Speaker 1: Yes, thank you.
- 57:45Speaker 4: So I probably won't.
