- 0:01Speaker 1: It hits in access to Mark by setting a pre
- 0:04Speaker 1: set in the iHeartRadio app for his live show and
- 0:07Speaker 1: his podcast. Now back to the Mark Simone show on
- 0:11Speaker 1: wor Hey, let's take some calls. Let's go to Sarah
- 0:15Speaker 1: in Manhattan. Sarah, how you doing?
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hi there, good morning. No one ever talks about where
- 0:22Speaker 2: Epstein got all this money from, Like where did he
- 0:25Speaker 2: get it?
- 0:25Speaker 1: Well, it's a little boring, but he was a big
- 0:28Speaker 1: financial Wall Street guy. He worked at bear Stearns for years.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Then he worked at Goldman Sachs for years. He met
- 0:34Speaker 1: all the big financial gurus. They mentored him, and then
- 0:38Speaker 1: he started his own fund. Because he knew all the
- 0:41Speaker 1: big investors, he got them to put money, and he
- 0:44Speaker 1: was a former mathematician. He was pretty good. He figured
- 0:46Speaker 1: out a lot of systems to grow your money, and
- 0:49Speaker 1: he was particularly good at doing it in a way
- 0:51Speaker 1: that would avoid taxes. So and more and more people
- 0:55Speaker 1: invested with him now that he was involved in beginning
- 1:00Speaker 1: years when he first went on his own with some
- 1:02Speaker 1: shady characters, there were some Bernie madeoff sort of schemes
- 1:05Speaker 1: that he was involved in. But then it was a
- 1:07Speaker 1: real fund. He had a wealth management fund and others.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Does that answer it?
- 1:12Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you. You just you seem to have a
- 1:15Speaker 2: lot to dole out.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Oh yeah, No, he got himself up to about five
- 1:18Speaker 1: six hundred million. You got to give him credit for that,
- 1:22Speaker 1: and thanks for calling Sarah. He then had what is
- 1:24Speaker 1: known as Check's appeal. Starts giving big money to everybody,
- 1:28Speaker 1: to politicians, to museums, to the symphony, all that sort
- 1:33Speaker 1: of stuff. And there's certain things that are very very
- 1:36Speaker 1: prestigious to give you a lot of clout, a lot
- 1:39Speaker 1: of cachet, like the Rockefeller Foundation. He started making big
- 1:42Speaker 1: donations to the Rockefeller Foundation, so they got friendly with him.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Next thing, you know, he got himself on the board
- 1:48Speaker 1: of the Rockefeller Foundation and they were having some money troubles.
- 1:52Speaker 1: You know, a lot of these charities they're not good
- 1:54Speaker 1: at investing their money, so that's one reason they put
- 1:57Speaker 1: them on the board. He could show them how to
- 1:58Speaker 1: better invest their their money. And then he got himself
- 2:02Speaker 1: on the board of the Carlisle Group. So this this
- 2:05Speaker 1: gave him a lot of cachet with with the big
- 2:08Speaker 1: money guys and the politicians. And I mean he was
- 2:11Speaker 1: clever the way he climbed the ladder. Let's go to
- 2:15Speaker 1: Chris in Manhattan. Chris, how you doing?
- 2:17Speaker 2: Oh good?
- 2:17Speaker 1: Thanks Mark, I hope you're doing well too.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Listen, I'm one hundred percent behind what Trump.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Chris Well explain. Chris's there's always a big butt coming
- 2:27Speaker 1: and he's the biggest what they call panickins. He panics
- 2:29Speaker 1: at everything. Go ahead.
- 2:32Speaker 2: You are absolutely my can't miss show, no matter how
- 2:34Speaker 2: you treat me.
- 2:35Speaker 1: I always love you. I love you. But you're the
- 2:38Speaker 1: poster boy for the they call him the Pannikins. Whatever
- 2:41Speaker 1: Trump does this is going.
- 2:42Speaker 2: To be a disaster. I'm not panicking about it. But
- 2:45Speaker 2: in reality, everything he's doing is going to make everything
- 2:48Speaker 2: go up in price, which is fine, okay, but he's
- 2:51Speaker 2: doing the right thing.
- 2:53Speaker 1: But it's still my Italy goes up in price very
- 2:55Speaker 1: a few weeks and then it goes way down in
- 2:57Speaker 1: price because we free up a massive amount of oil.
- 3:00Speaker 1: So you don't think this will this will hurt his
- 3:02Speaker 1: the mid terms because if they if they win them,
- 3:04Speaker 1: every election, everything, you'll check the record every election. You
- 3:08Speaker 1: got something that's going to kill a Remember it was
- 3:10Speaker 1: abortion when he ran for a president.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, abortion. Well, I'm still surprised about that.
- 3:14Speaker 2: I was sure.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Don't check that. You never checked it. You never checked
- 3:18Speaker 1: the actual data. It was not an issue in the campaign.
- 3:20Speaker 1: President has nothing to do with abortion anymore. It's a
- 3:23Speaker 1: state issue, federal government. I live in Manhattan when they
- 3:26Speaker 1: were running around voting a Hall of fame because he
- 3:28Speaker 1: should have been Yeah, uh well, anyway, don't what happened
- 3:32Speaker 1: to Did we lose them? Are there?
- 3:34Speaker 2: Chris?
- 3:35Speaker 1: All right, let's switch to another call. I don't know
- 3:38Speaker 1: what happened. That's that's very strange. Uh sorry about that, Chris,
- 3:42Speaker 1: But yeah, the Pannicans will tell you. Now, when you
- 3:45Speaker 1: go to war, the stock market is going to crash.
- 3:47Speaker 1: The price of oil is going to go away up.
- 3:49Speaker 1: But once it's over, a stock market starts soaring again,
- 3:52Speaker 1: price of oil comes crashing down because you're going to
- 3:54Speaker 1: free up a much, much bigger supply. Do you remember
- 3:57Speaker 1: when he started the tariffs, the stock market plunged eighty
- 4:00Speaker 1: billion points in one second, and that was it. The
- 4:02Speaker 1: whole economy was wiped out. And then that lasted a
- 4:05Speaker 1: couple of weeks. Then next thing you know, the stock
- 4:07Speaker 1: market went up on the biggest run you ever saw
- 4:09Speaker 1: and hit fifty thousand. Let's go to Adam in New Jersey. Adam,
- 4:14Speaker 1: how you doing, Hi, Mark, would you agree with me
- 4:18Speaker 1: that the president has just started the greatest peace movement
- 4:21Speaker 1: in the history of our country. Well, yeah, it's a
- 4:25Speaker 1: little hyperbolic, but okay, he's gotten rid of the biggest
- 4:28Speaker 1: terrorists of the world A K.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Vietnam.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Well, let's just say he got rid of the biggest
- 4:33Speaker 1: terrorists on Earth right now. And Democrats are very upset
- 4:36Speaker 1: because he eliminated the biggest threat to Israel at the
- 4:39Speaker 1: same time, and it'll make the Middle East certainly a
- 4:43Speaker 1: much more peaceful place. Let's go to Robert in Westchester. Robert,
- 4:46Speaker 1: how you doing, Good.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Morning, Mark, and thank you for taking my call. So Mark,
- 4:51Speaker 2: for all those Democratic talking heads that say Obama made
- 4:54Speaker 2: an agreement, they had a lock solid agreement. Well, the
- 4:57Speaker 2: last time we had an agreement with a democ private
- 5:00Speaker 2: administration under Bill Clinton was North Korea and how well
- 5:04Speaker 2: did that turn out? Well, the President Trump.
- 5:07Speaker 1: What they do is they come up with these phony agreements.
- 5:09Speaker 1: You know, they make up these phony There was an
- 5:10Speaker 1: agreement to for Iran not to have a nuclear weapon,
- 5:13Speaker 1: and the part of the agreement was they would self
- 5:15Speaker 1: inspect and let us know if they found it was
- 5:19Speaker 1: the dumbest agree. Remember they had that border bill when
- 5:22Speaker 1: the border was wide open and millions were crossing and
- 5:25Speaker 1: coming into the country, and the Democrats said, well, if
- 5:29Speaker 1: only you had passed the border bill. Well, if you
- 5:31Speaker 1: read the border bill, there was absolutely nothing in there
- 5:33Speaker 1: that would have done anything to help. In fact, the
- 5:36Speaker 1: border bill made the current situation permanent. It was the
- 5:40Speaker 1: worst thing. They make up these fake bills and try
- 5:43Speaker 1: to commit you. If only you had done that, if only
- 5:45Speaker 1: had followed the Obama Iran agreement. There was nothing in
- 5:50Speaker 1: that agreement that was going to do any good. Let's
- 5:52Speaker 1: go to David in Connecticut. David, how you doing good?
- 5:56Speaker 2: Mark, Hey, it's good talking to you. Why wasn't Neil
- 5:58Speaker 2: Sedaka never inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
- 6:02Speaker 1: Very good point. That was the problem with that's rock
- 6:05Speaker 1: and roll Hall of Fame. It's got better leadership now
- 6:07Speaker 1: in the last year or two, but for years the
- 6:09Speaker 1: leadership was horrible, and there was just a bunch of
- 6:11Speaker 1: guys picking who they liked and they didn't like. They
- 6:15Speaker 1: didn't like the sixties early sixties kind of oldiest kind
- 6:17Speaker 1: of sound. But you're right, and somebody should do something
- 6:20Speaker 1: about that. Neil Sedaka should be in the Rock and
- 6:24Speaker 1: Roll Hall of Fame. Good point, Thanks for Colin. You
- 6:26Speaker 1: know again, there's good leadership now running the Rock and
- 6:31Speaker 1: Roll Hall of Fame, so hopefully it'll change. But for
- 6:33Speaker 1: years it was Jan Winner and his friends, and you
- 6:36Speaker 1: know these guys. If you weren't a you know, scruffy looking,
- 6:41Speaker 1: a woodstock type with a big electric guitar, they didn't
- 6:43Speaker 1: want you in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
- 6:45Speaker 1: If you were cute Neil Sedaka with the duop kind
- 6:47Speaker 1: of they didn't want you in the Rock and Roll
- 6:48Speaker 1: Hall of Fame. But you're right, it's a glaring, glaring omission. Hey,
- 6:54Speaker 1: we'll take a break, rob Astarena. We'll talk to him
- 6:56Speaker 1: in just a moment.
