- 2:38Speaker 4: in the lab. We had this Catney fill over to
- 2:41Speaker 4: help with some audio. I don't know, Mitch, what did
- 2:43Speaker 4: he help us do?
- 2:46Speaker 5: He got he got this whole ship back here, got
- 2:48Speaker 5: it going right, and like, I don't know, he did
- 2:51Speaker 5: a whole bunch of stuff.
- 2:55Speaker 3: I don't know what he was doing. That's like me.
- 2:57Speaker 5: He was like changing some some chords that that Blasi
- 3:01Speaker 5: had all set up, and he's gonna make it sound good.
- 3:06Speaker 3: I guess all right, Yeah, sir, where is this dude
- 3:08Speaker 3: from London?
- 3:10Speaker 4: He's got a sick accent too, he says, gnarly and ship.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought he was from fucking up a couple of.
- 3:18Speaker 4: Wires for us. So everybody firing off on mitching the comments.
- 3:20Speaker 4: Let us know how the audio sounds.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Yo.
- 3:23Speaker 4: Hey, I got a question for you guys, is my
- 3:26Speaker 4: uh is my hairline falling back?
- 3:30Speaker 3: I mean, who said that?
- 3:31Speaker 4: I'm sitting here trying to have a good Monday, and
- 3:33Speaker 4: I put out the video of promoting our spring tour.
- 3:37Speaker 4: That's out right now, and dude said, I love you, man,
- 3:40Speaker 4: but we got to have a chat about the hairline.
- 3:41Speaker 6: Get hitting you with the three step drop out of nowhere?
- 3:44Speaker 3: Nh, I mean it's uh. I mean, I'm not gonna lie.
- 3:50Speaker 4: When I was looking at my hair this morning, I'm
- 3:53Speaker 4: thinking like, man, this neutrifoild neutrafil.
- 3:55Speaker 6: I feel like it's starting to help.
- 3:57Speaker 4: So I thought the top, like at the top, because yually,
- 4:00Speaker 4: I'm a little dustier in the corners. Yeah, I've been
- 4:03Speaker 4: keeping it's usually like dusty in the corners. I feel
- 4:05Speaker 4: like it's feeling a little bit more. But maybe maybe
- 4:07Speaker 4: I think that's what he's saying. I'm not reading the
- 4:09Speaker 4: field correctly. JP, you had the mike. You feel like
- 4:12Speaker 4: my airline's getting pushed back a little bit.
- 4:13Speaker 7: No, I feel like it looks similar to when I
- 4:15Speaker 7: first started, which is good. Three years holding strong. And
- 4:19Speaker 7: I even set you a video of a mini golf clip.
- 4:22Speaker 7: I was like, Hey, the cut looks nice, right, So
- 4:25Speaker 7: I appreciate that.
- 4:26Speaker 4: Man, what's your dad hairline looking gone? It's gonna happen
- 4:31Speaker 4: non existence. It's gonna happen.
- 4:33Speaker 8: It skips generation like baulting and receding. It's usually like
- 4:36Speaker 8: on your mom's side, her dad is usually how you
- 4:39Speaker 8: take after in your jenettch Oh.
- 4:42Speaker 3: So I barely remember him.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Yeah, my dad's just gone like that thirty rack of
- 4:48Speaker 4: bush light he at the house over the weekend.
- 4:50Speaker 9: Yeah, I can't really tell. I don't look at you
- 4:51Speaker 9: like that, So I don't know if it's pushed back
- 4:53Speaker 9: or not. I mean it's you got the Ronald McDonald
- 4:56Speaker 9: but other than that.
- 4:57Speaker 4: Man in year one Ronald McDonald's.
- 5:06Speaker 3: But he look good. You look at my ship? Is
- 5:09Speaker 3: that airline is good?
- 5:11Speaker 7: Delaney got the X axis.
- 5:13Speaker 3: My hairline is straight? Why you got them grades? Coming there?
- 5:16Speaker 3: I'm great. Up.
- 5:17Speaker 4: That's from stress though, from what stress? Daily stress? The
- 5:23Speaker 4: funk out right here man. Also in the comments, I
- 5:27Speaker 4: was asking d Lane before he came on, but he
- 5:28Speaker 4: wasn't familiar with the intro songs. Fire off about these
- 5:31Speaker 4: intro songs, and you know you see comments now like oh,
- 5:34Speaker 4: they don't even talk about they won't even address it.
- 5:37Speaker 4: It's getting loud. Yeah, people, the majority wants the old intro,
- 5:41Speaker 4: the old intro back.
- 5:43Speaker 9: You're gonna have to play it for me. I gotta here,
- 5:45Speaker 9: I gotta hear with what we.
- 5:47Speaker 6: Wasn't gonna change it, but he wanted to switch it up.
- 5:50Speaker 3: Play both, Play both, though, I want to hear both.
- 5:52Speaker 3: I gotta hear.
- 5:53Speaker 5: Where they called They call it the Intro.
- 5:57Speaker 6: Yeah, the Ernest made us intro and it is a banger.
- 6:01Speaker 3: It's an awesome Hey.
- 6:02Speaker 7: I know we switch up the interest songs, but there
- 6:04Speaker 7: is one thing we don't switch up, and that's the
- 6:07Speaker 7: Chevy trucks.
- 6:08Speaker 4: And that's the Chevy Soilarado. That's what The Boys is
- 6:11Speaker 4: presented by Chevy. This is a Chevy truck podcast. Just
- 6:15Speaker 4: like JP said, gritty and determined, dependable, Just like JP
- 6:19Speaker 4: reminded me that we have this sattery with Chevy trucks.
- 6:21Speaker 4: Chevy trucks are the greatest trucks ever built. Our good
- 6:24Speaker 4: friends at Chevrolet have been a big part of the
- 6:26Speaker 4: bust and family and even in our personal lives.
- 6:29Speaker 6: As you know, your boy rocks. The sleek black z
- 6:32Speaker 6: R two Chevy.
- 6:33Speaker 4: Silverado longtime also partner of the show, a truck with
- 6:36Speaker 4: commanding and unstoppable grit, legendary capability and dependability as well.
- 6:41Speaker 4: So find out for yourself like so many of our
- 6:43Speaker 4: boys said to Chevy dot com, check out all this
- 6:45Speaker 4: Chevy truck grit, build your own Silverado, and check out
- 6:48Speaker 4: what current offers are out there during Chevy truck season
- 6:51Speaker 4: for do it yourself projects, to off road trips, off
- 6:55Speaker 4: road adventures, tailgates, whatever your thing is, it all starts
- 6:59Speaker 4: with a Chevy truck. All right, Yeah, so this we
- 7:04Speaker 4: had Ernest he hit this little rift for us or
- 7:07Speaker 4: just off the top freestyle. It played it for us,
- 7:11Speaker 4: recorded on the phone, rocked it. It's a great song. Yeah, here,
- 7:15Speaker 4: put your put your headphones on so you can hear it.
- 7:21Speaker 4: I don't think I can hear me neither.
- 7:24Speaker 8: I don't think it's gonna come through your headphones.
- 7:27Speaker 6: It's not gonna come thro our headphones.
- 7:29Speaker 3: I hear something though. Yeah he turned up. There we
- 7:39Speaker 3: go betting on the game. No woman's gonna tell what.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Not.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Be just drinking, be.
- 8:03Speaker 6: Blessing with the boys.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Bro that you is on the record. Let me hear
- 8:12Speaker 3: the new one? Now what's it? By laughing about?
- 8:18Speaker 6: I've seen how the UFC is today.
- 8:20Speaker 3: If you got to get out fighters, if you were
- 8:22Speaker 3: in your private again, when did we did? When did
- 8:24Speaker 3: y'all switch it like a month ago, did drink plus
- 8:39Speaker 3: taking that head what my opinion will be. The first
- 8:59Speaker 3: one is more person and older than me.
- 9:00Speaker 9: I feel like it's like the boys more authentic to
- 9:04Speaker 9: more authentic.
- 9:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:05Speaker 9: Then the second one is like we grown, we are,
- 9:09Speaker 9: we're doing tour. It's like, you know what I'm saying,
- 9:10Speaker 9: we moving around like it just feel more hyped up,
- 9:14Speaker 9: like more lively, you know what I'm saying. I kind
- 9:17Speaker 9: of you want to just add both of them, Man,
- 9:18Speaker 9: keep the original one in the front, and then on
- 9:20Speaker 9: y'all end out play the new one.
- 9:23Speaker 4: Thought process behind the newer one is you heard that
- 9:26Speaker 4: undertone on the like the beginning or clip like that,
- 9:29Speaker 4: you talk about something that's you know, he was talking
- 9:32Speaker 4: about a barfighter whatever bisbeeing right there, was talking about
- 9:34Speaker 4: you kind of have that undertone song, like an earned song.
- 9:38Speaker 3: You can't find.
- 9:39Speaker 4: Like an undertone that's kind of like, okay, this is
- 9:41Speaker 4: It could either be serious, it could be emotional, it
- 9:43Speaker 4: could be funny, whatever the case is. So the thought
- 9:46Speaker 4: was to have the undertone song and then it rides
- 9:48Speaker 4: into the can intro where that song is playing and
- 9:51Speaker 4: that band Quaker City Nighthawk shout out the Boys.
- 9:54Speaker 3: We used that.
- 9:56Speaker 4: One some of Adam's Blues, right, and then we use
- 9:59Speaker 4: their song cold Blo. That was for the people who
- 10:02Speaker 4: listen to the Delaney Walker very first ever episode, those
- 10:06Speaker 4: first songs.
- 10:07Speaker 6: The intro song was Cold Blues by Quaker City Nighthawks.
- 10:10Speaker 4: So when we when we pulled this some of Adam's Blues,
- 10:13Speaker 4: it was like pulling from Quaker City Nighthawks, the band
- 10:15Speaker 4: we use initially, and we kind of switched it up
- 10:18Speaker 4: because I was winning like a cliffhanger clip at the beginning, versus.
- 10:21Speaker 6: You just start off with the intro song.
- 10:23Speaker 4: Yeah, but everybody being so loud in the comments, You're
- 10:26Speaker 4: kind of thinking you got to bring back you know.
- 10:27Speaker 3: I'm hitting up earning.
- 10:28Speaker 4: I'm like, hey, we might need a clean version this
- 10:32Speaker 4: and then just just drop it in.
- 10:34Speaker 9: I mean, yeah, I think they may be right because
- 10:37Speaker 9: I'm a Power fan, right, And we watched I watch
- 10:40Speaker 9: a Lot of Power and they changed the intro song
- 10:44Speaker 9: and people went ape shit, And they changed it back
- 10:47Speaker 9: the next week, like because it was like a big
- 10:50Speaker 9: key factor, like the song was similar but not similar,
- 10:53Speaker 9: and people did not like it. So I can understand
- 10:55Speaker 9: why people are throwing a fit. On y'all changing the
- 10:58Speaker 9: song like there'll.
- 10:59Speaker 4: Be people coming in, be like, oh, sign it in
- 11:02Speaker 4: just for the old intro group for the old intro.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Yeah, hey, I mean I would throw it back.
- 11:06Speaker 9: Just have them do a cleaner version where you feel
- 11:09Speaker 9: like that's that can play right out for everything, or
- 11:12Speaker 9: just use both shit fuck it.
- 11:13Speaker 3: Oh, hang on a second. We gotta, oh see if
- 11:20Speaker 3: we canna use this.
- 11:26Speaker 4: Morey more and more people to Wo Taylor, more people.
- 11:30Speaker 3: Drop it out. When is it June twenty fourth or
- 11:33Speaker 3: twenty fifth.
- 11:34Speaker 9: I think I'm gonna be there. I gotta I know.
- 11:36Speaker 9: I'll report sometime in July, so.
- 11:40Speaker 3: It ain't gonna It's gonna be during the downtime.
- 11:41Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, I'm I'm shit. I'm
- 11:47Speaker 9: gonna find someone. If I gotta find a cat off
- 11:49Speaker 9: the Las Vegas Strip.
- 11:51Speaker 3: I'll do it. You know what I'm saying. Go find
- 11:54Speaker 3: the best chugger around come around this thing. Yeah.
- 11:59Speaker 6: I'm gutted, bro, I'm gutting.
- 12:05Speaker 3: That would have been man. That's that hurt. Though.
- 12:08Speaker 4: That hurt because we wanted to build you know, did
- 12:11Speaker 4: actually up and uh we met with Jason out in
- 12:15Speaker 4: out in Vegas in the super Bowl to kind of
- 12:17Speaker 4: like talk through, Hey, how can we logistically pull this off?
- 12:19Speaker 6: Because we like to do it around the collap with
- 12:21Speaker 6: you guys, because they had.
- 12:22Speaker 4: Like a beer or something you out in Philly and
- 12:28Speaker 4: it would have been biblical.
- 12:30Speaker 6: But fuck, we moved around. We we we were hitting
- 12:34Speaker 6: them up. We hit them up a couple of times
- 12:36Speaker 6: last week, and we didn't hear nothing back.
- 12:39Speaker 4: I was telling Taylor, I was like, man, I don't
- 12:40Speaker 4: got a good feeling, bro, we didn't have a good
- 12:43Speaker 4: feeling about it.
- 12:44Speaker 3: I do appreciate him calling.
- 12:45Speaker 9: Oh yeah, that's real status, sending a text. That's some
- 12:48Speaker 9: real homie ship right there. Oh that's though, bro, what
- 12:53Speaker 9: about any no hockey players? You can't get no hockey
- 12:56Speaker 9: players people? We just we wanted like, I know what
- 12:58Speaker 9: you wanted. I get I know, yeah, I know what
- 13:01Speaker 9: you You ain't even got to say it. Let's get
- 13:07Speaker 9: back right, Yeah, yeah, man, get it. Get back here
- 13:10Speaker 9: the show man, get out your feeling.
- 13:11Speaker 3: Slap.
- 13:14Speaker 7: Delane's favorite character is Tarik No fuck he he I
- 13:19Speaker 7: don't like so you watch Power. I stopped watching after
- 13:23Speaker 7: season three.
- 13:24Speaker 3: Yeah, the New Book of Tyreek and shits trash.
- 13:27Speaker 7: But as I saw his characters start to get bigger.
- 13:29Speaker 7: I'm like, man, what are we doing?
- 13:31Speaker 3: I knew it.
- 13:31Speaker 9: I'm like, he gonna kill Ghosts because ghost Ghost and
- 13:34Speaker 9: Tommy really my favorite characters period. I mean, Ghosts dead
- 13:38Speaker 9: now and Tommy's still wilding like a mother a crazy
- 13:41Speaker 9: white boy.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Yeah he doesn't.
- 13:44Speaker 6: He doesn't because he doesn't want to. Yeah, you don't
- 13:47Speaker 6: want to.
- 13:48Speaker 4: Basically, here's what happened. Everybody will listen because we got
- 13:51Speaker 4: to cut the phone call. Travis Kelsey just called to
- 13:55Speaker 4: let us know that he can't do beer Olympics.
- 14:03Speaker 3: That hurts.
- 14:04Speaker 4: That hurts, but hey, onward and upward, onward and upwards.
- 14:13Speaker 4: We lost a good soldier. Yeah, two good soldiers.
- 14:18Speaker 7: It's not about what happens to you, will, it's about
- 14:20Speaker 7: how you respond.
- 14:21Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, that was a brutal phone call.
- 14:28Speaker 4: I bet he was sitting there kind of moment was
- 14:30Speaker 4: like I don't want to do that. Maybe he had
- 14:32Speaker 4: a text written up and it's like I got.
- 14:34Speaker 3: A call now.
- 14:35Speaker 9: He probably is like sitting there like damn, I gotta
- 14:37Speaker 9: call him because I'm sure they I'm sure something.
- 14:40Speaker 3: They came through and gave him a schedule like this.
- 14:42Speaker 9: The only time you can probably do this, do that,
- 14:44Speaker 9: and he was like, fuck, you gotta go before training camp.
- 14:48Speaker 3: He's a busy cat.
- 14:49Speaker 4: He is very busy and with the Dayton Taylor like,
- 14:52Speaker 4: I'm sure it's probably hard to align everything.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it going on because I'm sure sh it
- 14:57Speaker 3: just pops up and you know what I mean.
- 15:00Speaker 6: You just know the feeling like it's the worst feeling
- 15:02Speaker 6: knowing you're about to let the boys down.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Yeah. Man, it's especially when you know you had that calendar.
- 15:10Speaker 6: Yeah, when you're when you're like, yeah, we're doing it.
- 15:13Speaker 3: Yeah, that should be tough when twofold.
- 15:16Speaker 9: Now, it almost gives you that sick feeling in your
- 15:19Speaker 9: stomach when you got a dodo make those calls like ah,
- 15:22Speaker 9: I can't do it.
- 15:24Speaker 6: I know, bro.
- 15:24Speaker 3: He's like, whatever you need, I might have to call him.
- 15:26Speaker 6: Like if it's like a game to get into the
- 15:29Speaker 6: playoffs or the Chiefs and I need you to blow it.
- 15:32Speaker 9: Noah, we need some Taylor Swift tickets, man backstage. Taylor
- 15:35Speaker 9: Swift tickets backstage. Introduce us.

- 16:38Speaker 3: It's a good point. Sorry, just jotting down a list
- 16:42Speaker 3: of what how Travis could pay us.

- 17:34Speaker 9: you too. I guarantee, so you cannot play golf.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Look at you, I'm black, That's what he was about,
- 17:41Speaker 3: the same guy. Look at me. Yeah, I am a
- 17:45Speaker 3: fucking athlete. You can't move.
- 17:47Speaker 6: I just watched you if they everybody saw the clip.
- 17:51Speaker 6: Everybody saw the clip. All I'm saying.
- 17:57Speaker 3: A little tight now I get Yeah, you're right, I am.
- 17:59Speaker 1: I am eight.
- 18:00Speaker 3: But the swing is not a full swing.
- 18:02Speaker 9: And I still will out drive you, outplay you, out
- 18:06Speaker 9: club you whatever you want.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Bro, we can go. This is like I've been telling
- 18:11Speaker 3: my man, let's go play golf. You can't swing an iron?
- 18:14Speaker 3: Who can? That's where I'm better at, bro. My iron
- 18:17Speaker 3: game is unstoppable. So you can't putt put game? Great,
- 18:23Speaker 3: you can't drive, drive game is working on working on that.
- 18:27Speaker 10: The video of will swing that was a.
- 18:30Speaker 4: Terrible and we knew all my low back was hurt
- 18:33Speaker 4: for sure. All low back problems now tap tap tap
- 18:37Speaker 4: tapes out there. I said, you and Taylor both you
- 18:42Speaker 4: saith one. I just gashed the ground. The ball just
- 18:44Speaker 4: falls back on the team. Nobody wants to play after you.
- 18:47Speaker 4: You didn't ripped up the whole the tea box. Come on, gee,
- 18:52Speaker 4: I fucked that up.
- 18:53Speaker 3: But you what are their divots?
- 18:55Speaker 9: You can fix them? Yeah, you can fix them. You
- 18:58Speaker 9: can fix it, DVID. But we definitely need to get
- 19:01Speaker 9: on the course.
- 19:02Speaker 6: Do you have a golfer that you root for in
- 19:04Speaker 6: the Masters? You just casually watch your cash.
- 19:06Speaker 4: I'm just a casual watcher knowing I'm a casual too, Like, oh,
- 19:10Speaker 4: you just straight you're a casual watch, you know, shout
- 19:14Speaker 4: out of Scotty.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Yeah, Scotty Shuffler didn't go crazy.
- 19:19Speaker 4: He won by four strokes one two out of the
- 19:22Speaker 4: last three. He's quote afterwards, what was Jack? You can
- 19:26Speaker 4: you can throw that quote up.
- 19:27Speaker 10: There, Scotty future father, future father to get him a hat.
- 19:35Speaker 3: He's been playing well, though, girl been playing well.
- 19:40Speaker 10: He had six wins coming into the mass.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. He's been playing well.
- 19:45Speaker 10: Great.
- 19:47Speaker 4: Yeah, he talks about his He's a special feeling to
- 19:50Speaker 4: know that I'm secure forever and it doesn't matter if
- 19:52Speaker 4: I win this terminal or lose this term in my identity.
- 19:54Speaker 4: My identity is secure forever. He also said something along
- 19:57Speaker 4: the lines of like an un fulfilling career. Was it unfulfilling?
- 20:02Speaker 3: Is that was that the word he used. I think
- 20:05Speaker 3: that golf is a very unfulfilling career.
- 20:06Speaker 4: Like right now, I'm sitting in front of you guys,
- 20:08Speaker 4: like i don't care about this green jacket. All I'm
- 20:10Speaker 4: thinking about is getting home right now.
- 20:12Speaker 10: Yeah, with the fam shit about to have his firstborn. Yeah, yeah,
- 20:15Speaker 10: prodigal son.
- 20:16Speaker 4: I feel like it plays into his mentality on the course,
- 20:19Speaker 4: like if you're not fully investing, like thinking like I
- 20:23Speaker 4: have to, you know, win this sermon, or I have
- 20:25Speaker 4: to make this putter, I have to make the shot.
- 20:26Speaker 4: He kind of like, I don't know, he didn't take
- 20:29Speaker 4: it too serious.
- 20:29Speaker 3: I think that's the best way to do it.
- 20:31Speaker 9: I kind of almost played a game, Like when I played,
- 20:35Speaker 9: I didn't take it too serious. That's why, like after
- 20:37Speaker 9: games I never seen like I was mad upset. I
- 20:40Speaker 9: didn't cry because it's when you take it too serious,
- 20:43Speaker 9: you try too hard. Sometimes when you try too hard,
- 20:45Speaker 9: that's when you make the mistake.
- 20:47Speaker 10: I think he also knows that there's always gonna be
- 20:51Speaker 10: another round. Always, there's always another shot. Like like we
- 20:53Speaker 10: were talking earlier, he makes a bogie on a hole,
- 20:56Speaker 10: He's the best at getting that that stroke back immediately
- 20:59Speaker 10: comes again, it back right. I think that his mentality
- 21:02Speaker 10: is like like you're saying, my identity secure, like this
- 21:05Speaker 10: doesn't make or break. I'm gonna play again tomorrow next time.
- 21:10Speaker 6: And he's twenty seven, haven't that wisdom young? Like that
- 21:12Speaker 6: is crucial, bro.
- 21:15Speaker 7: Yeah, that's what was gonna say. Because he talked about
- 21:18Speaker 7: Saturday night. He was sitting with all his friends that
- 21:21Speaker 7: were there in Augusta with him, and he was telling
- 21:23Speaker 7: them like, man, I want to win so bad. I'm like,
- 21:26Speaker 7: I don't know if he said he was nervous, but
- 21:27Speaker 7: he was. You know, he's a competitor. All he wants
- 21:30Speaker 7: to do is win. And they reminded him the same
- 21:32Speaker 7: thing we're saying, like, hey, man, like say worst case scenario,
- 21:37Speaker 7: like you've already won you're good, like the result does
- 21:41Speaker 7: not define you at all, and to it just shows
- 21:43Speaker 7: the importance for like all athletes, the importance of your
- 21:45Speaker 7: circle around you. You got guys saying that you're gonna
- 21:49Speaker 7: be out there so much more loose like right, so.
- 21:52Speaker 3: But it's true, he already won.
- 21:54Speaker 9: He's in the Masters, like all his group friend groups
- 21:57Speaker 9: around him probably grew up playing golflin them wanting to
- 22:01Speaker 9: be on this day, on this stage, the biggest stage
- 22:05Speaker 9: you can be in. And they mind, they like you
- 22:07Speaker 9: won already, bro, like put too much pressure. You're here, yeah,
- 22:11Speaker 9: and you will always come back here, like because you've
- 22:15Speaker 9: been here. So I understand that when you do have
- 22:17Speaker 9: friends like that to make you kind of settle down,
- 22:20Speaker 9: because you need that settle down. Sometimes it's great to
- 22:23Speaker 9: have because you know your friend group they all want
- 22:25Speaker 9: to be where you at.
- 22:27Speaker 3: You know, in they mind, you made it to the
- 22:29Speaker 3: ultimate point. What more can you do? You know what
- 22:32Speaker 3: I mean? Take what you got and.
- 22:34Speaker 4: It's like even you care so much and then say
- 22:37Speaker 4: you do get it like JP you were talking about earlier,
- 22:40Speaker 4: Like you just end up chasing like you're chasing the
- 22:42Speaker 4: next thing.
- 22:43Speaker 6: That doesn't mean like don't go after and win everything
- 22:45Speaker 6: and all that.
- 22:45Speaker 3: But he was, uh.
- 22:47Speaker 6: JP was referencing Tom Brady after his third Super Bowl?
- 22:50Speaker 6: Would you say that?
- 22:51Speaker 3: Tom? Said?
- 22:52Speaker 7: He said, after he won that third super Bowl, he
- 22:56Speaker 7: kind of like a few days later he sat back
- 22:58Speaker 7: and was like, is this really all there is to
- 23:02Speaker 7: kind of like.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Toe to my life?
- 23:03Speaker 7: Like, because this is not what It's not fulfilling at
- 23:06Speaker 7: all like that, that's the feeling's already.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Gone after winning it the first time, it was gone, right, But.
- 23:13Speaker 7: It's like he wins the three and he's like, man,
- 23:15Speaker 7: there has to be more to life than this, right.
- 23:18Speaker 6: It's like you keep chasing, you'll never catch whatever it
- 23:20Speaker 6: is that you.
- 23:20Speaker 4: Yeah, and you win three and it's like, Okay, all
- 23:24Speaker 4: you now think about is how do you get the
- 23:25Speaker 4: fourth one?
- 23:26Speaker 6: Where you're not even realizing how far you've come?
- 23:30Speaker 4: Well, because it's kind of oh, it doesn't matter what
- 23:31Speaker 4: what's what's your favorite ring?
- 23:33Speaker 3: The next one? Yeah? I mean Giselle was the next one.
- 23:38Speaker 9: If we want to put it out, he said, Damn,
- 23:40Speaker 9: I've been winning super Bowls?
- 23:42Speaker 3: What else can I get?
- 23:43Speaker 4: You get the baddest chick in the world at that time,
- 23:47Speaker 4: you know, oh fuck, I ain't mad at him.
- 23:52Speaker 10: Oh you got something, g I was just gonna say
- 23:55Speaker 10: the boy Max, I know that's all. Yeah, he had
- 23:58Speaker 10: a good weekend, just some tough battles.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Like a lot of people were pulling from him.
- 24:02Speaker 10: Oh yeah, he's like the people's chant, like just most
- 24:06Speaker 10: relatable because he is out there just kind of like
- 24:09Speaker 10: cutting up and you know, him and his caddie old
- 24:12Speaker 10: talks ship to each other. He told us on the
- 24:14Speaker 10: when he came on. But just he just seems like
- 24:17Speaker 10: a real dude. But he uh, he had some good
- 24:19Speaker 10: quotes too.
- 24:20Speaker 6: Yeah, he had that banger quote going into that final round.
- 24:23Speaker 6: He's like, yeah, what did he say?
- 24:24Speaker 4: He's like, uh, I just got to remind myself that
- 24:26Speaker 4: I'm a dog and I'm ready for this moment before
- 24:28Speaker 4: the final round, which was sick.
- 24:31Speaker 3: Yeah, what else was happening? Oh U S three hundred?
- 24:35Speaker 6: Do you happen to catch UFC three hundred?
- 24:36Speaker 11: Bro?
- 24:39Speaker 4: Justin Gaichee Max Holloway for the Baddest Motherfucker Belt? Justin
- 24:44Speaker 4: Gaichee's was the title holder of the Baddest Motherfucker Belt
- 24:47Speaker 4: BMF belt and him and Max fucking throwing five rounds straight.
- 24:53Speaker 4: Max is up five rounds and nothing. Like basically Gage
- 24:56Speaker 4: needs he needs a knockout, just like to win the fight.
- 24:59Speaker 4: He's got no out unless he knocks him out. Anywhere
- 25:01Speaker 4: they're battle. You see, my man Gate was bleeding. He
- 25:04Speaker 4: caught a heel at the very end of the first
- 25:06Speaker 4: round called the heel to the nose was bleeding. Was
- 25:08Speaker 4: kind of like gunshy a little bit. Max are going
- 25:11Speaker 4: in there in the final round and again Max has
- 25:13Speaker 4: secured the win. I got three hundred, six hundred thousand
- 25:16Speaker 4: dollars bonus, all this stuff.
- 25:18Speaker 6: Five to nothing. He's gonna win unanimous, five nothing.
- 25:21Speaker 4: On the rounds they hit the for the last ten seconds,
- 25:25Speaker 4: Max goes to the middle and points just at the
- 25:27Speaker 4: ground and says, come on, come on, and they just
- 25:30Speaker 4: start swinging.
- 25:31Speaker 3: Watch this. I saw that. He was like, get to
- 25:33Speaker 3: the middle, let's go, ye yea. They just start. He'll
- 25:37Speaker 3: belliing d y.
- 25:39Speaker 9: That's something that's right. That's raw dog right there. Raw
- 25:42Speaker 9: dogged them one second left.
- 25:45Speaker 3: Bro got him. He hey, oh buddy, oh buddy, win
- 25:49Speaker 3: the middle.
- 25:50Speaker 4: He had nothing to little he's thinking, but he's thinking
- 25:53Speaker 4: like maybe I catch him, I know, but oh buddy.
- 25:55Speaker 3: Had nothing to lose. He was already down in the cards.
- 25:58Speaker 3: He had he man, but he was up. Oh he
- 26:02Speaker 3: was Oh I thought, oh, I thought the other dude
- 26:04Speaker 3: was up five. No, there was no reason for him
- 26:06Speaker 3: to say come to the middle, let's swing. Yeah he
- 26:09Speaker 3: he he got He went in there and dogged him.
- 26:11Speaker 6: Hell, that ship was crazy.
- 26:14Speaker 3: That's crazy. Now. I didn't get to catch all of that. Man,
- 26:19Speaker 3: I saw that, just the knockout, he got it.
- 26:21Speaker 11: You gotta see Pereira's yeah, yeah, show him showing Pereira
- 26:29Speaker 11: who is the cat that he fought Peira Jamal Hill,
- 26:32Speaker 11: Jamal Hill, who was coming back from an Achilles. He
- 26:35Speaker 11: was like the champ before he towards Achilles, like the
- 26:37Speaker 11: day before a fight or something.
- 26:39Speaker 3: So he's coming back into the ring and prayer to him.
- 26:42Speaker 6: They're going toes and you gotta see Peira.
- 26:44Speaker 3: Bro.
- 26:44Speaker 6: The rep tries to step in because he'll.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Like they did the meme on him. Yeah yeah, then
- 26:52Speaker 3: wasn't the black dude for the African. But Hill had
- 26:57Speaker 3: kind of hit him.
- 26:58Speaker 4: I don't know if it was awkward, but the ref
- 27:00Speaker 4: was about to step in and back them up and say, hey,
- 27:03Speaker 4: you know that's a warning or whatever it is. But
- 27:05Speaker 4: as the ref was stepping in prayer or who's the
- 27:07Speaker 4: one who got hit? He told the ref he said, no,
- 27:10Speaker 4: stay back, and.
- 27:11Speaker 3: Then it drops.
- 27:12Speaker 7: The next punch dropped him.
- 27:14Speaker 4: You could probably go to JP's Twitter as well. You
- 27:17Speaker 4: go to JP's twitter one of his recent tweets, he
- 27:19Speaker 4: kind of posted it. But it's badass, bro. I mean,
- 27:24Speaker 4: it was a hell of a card. You got al Joe,
- 27:26Speaker 4: who's literally can have a title fight at any moment,
- 27:31Speaker 4: who's on the prelimbs, who's not even on the main card. Crazy,
- 27:35Speaker 4: these are two Chinese chicks. There's fucking swinging the whole time.
- 27:39Speaker 4: I mean, the women's belt Chandler Chandler McGregor gets announced
- 27:44Speaker 4: for three or three So McGregor and Chandler now set
- 27:48Speaker 4: for June twenty ninth week.
- 27:50Speaker 6: Hey, that's the.
- 27:51Speaker 3: Whole Beer Olympics.
- 27:52Speaker 4: We're setting up Beer Olympics and we stay and then
- 27:56Speaker 4: hit the fight on Saturday.
- 27:59Speaker 3: Because that ship is going to be nuts insane. Watches
- 28:05Speaker 3: kicked him in Nah, watch y'all. He's like, no, nah,
- 28:07Speaker 3: watch y'all.
- 28:08Speaker 11: That was.
- 28:10Speaker 9: Ban They didn't hit him with the mean bro, how
- 28:15Speaker 9: you gonna disrespect him like that?
- 28:19Speaker 7: This is what y'all brought me. Yeah, yeah, I don't
- 28:22Speaker 7: know who he's gonna fight next. Maybe I think the
- 28:25Speaker 7: people should start campaigning for John Jones to come back
- 28:28Speaker 7: down to two.
- 28:28Speaker 3: A five one more time. He may do that. He
- 28:32Speaker 3: could do. Pereira might go up.
- 28:33Speaker 7: Pereira is insane, Bro, he'd be izzy the first time
- 28:36Speaker 7: at one eighty five. Now he's fighting at two o five.
- 28:40Speaker 7: This man weighed in at two o five and he
- 28:42Speaker 7: weighed two thirty seven right before the fight. Man Pereira, Yes,
- 28:49Speaker 7: how did he ever get down to one eighty five?
- 28:51Speaker 3: They man, they got ways ozempic.
- 28:54Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 28:55Speaker 3: I was just about to say that, bro, that stopping
- 28:59Speaker 3: from Eden.
- 29:00Speaker 4: You got the you got like I mean, there's peptides
- 29:02Speaker 4: out there that can get in and out of your
- 29:03Speaker 4: system within.
- 29:03Speaker 3: Like eight hours. Yeah yeah, but I mean you can't
- 29:06Speaker 3: use the zimpics. Is that cheating? I have no clue
- 29:09Speaker 3: that's cheating. You think it's cheating, I don't know.
- 29:14Speaker 6: Yeah, rejecting in your body something like suppresses like.
- 29:20Speaker 12: He can't he can be he can have diabetes. I mean, yeah, right,
- 29:26Speaker 12: you know what I mean. Zimpic is legal.
- 29:34Speaker 3: It's so new right now. I feel like.
- 29:39Speaker 7: Wasn't there a big article on it that like it's
- 29:41Speaker 7: there's stuff coming out that it's like bad for you.
- 29:44Speaker 3: It is killed.
- 29:45Speaker 4: It's like shutting down your kidneys. All of that trust
- 29:49Speaker 4: man is really bad. There's like some lawsuits. Yeah, people
- 29:52Speaker 4: are getting it. That's like the Hollywood drug. Yeah, everyone
- 29:55Speaker 4: is doing actor. Yes, everybody in a lie. And then
- 30:00Speaker 4: until people be like Joe's I didn't say, I'm telling
- 30:03Speaker 4: you you it ain't.
- 30:05Speaker 9: It's gonna start getting put in soon because they it's
- 30:08Speaker 9: so new and they think athletes won't take it because
- 30:11Speaker 9: it does make you drop weight so fast.
- 30:13Speaker 3: I feel like it should make you we I would
- 30:15Speaker 3: assume that it's on the SHATA thinks. I mean all
- 30:19Speaker 3: the things that are on there.
- 30:20Speaker 4: You're thinking Ozimpic isn't on that band substance list, especially
- 30:24Speaker 4: in like the UFC where you gotta make weight.
- 30:26Speaker 9: Maybe UFC. I just don't think that's the thing. In
- 30:28Speaker 9: the NFL, It's like who who want to take a
- 30:31Speaker 9: drug and lose fucking weight?
- 30:33Speaker 11: Right?
- 30:34Speaker 6: Like, what's that gonna help you necessarily, unless like you
- 30:37Speaker 6: got something in your contract.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, there you go. There you go like a
- 30:42Speaker 3: old pot roast. Yeah, I was like paycheck different.
- 30:47Speaker 11: He was like what.
- 30:48Speaker 3: I was like, no, tell me his story.
- 30:51Speaker 4: I told the d lineman like, hey, don't let t
- 30:54Speaker 4: Night and Terrence Knight and tell you get on you
- 30:56Speaker 4: at all about making your weight. This man would not
- 30:58Speaker 4: step on the scale all his fines because he's like, oh,
- 31:02Speaker 4: my budget's different.
- 31:03Speaker 6: Now y'all are about to find me pounds over.
- 31:07Speaker 3: So y'all want me to weigh in after you got
- 31:08Speaker 3: this good ass food.
- 31:09Speaker 4: And I was just like U in my in my head,
- 31:13Speaker 4: that means that the pounds he was over, that per
- 31:16Speaker 4: pound that he would have to pay, it was more
- 31:18Speaker 4: than the fine he just takes for not weighing in.
- 31:21Speaker 9: Probably you know what I mean. No, I mean to
- 31:23Speaker 9: fine what it was, only what it's like. I think
- 31:25Speaker 9: it was like five hundred a pounds or something like that,
- 31:28Speaker 9: or a thousand pounds.
- 31:29Speaker 3: All depends who you were. It depends on how you
- 31:31Speaker 3: negotiate that up. All right.

- 34:13Speaker 6: last week.
- 34:13Speaker 3: I did, Man, I did? Yeah, Yeah, I am A'm
- 34:17Speaker 3: probably the best, right, I'm just saying.
- 34:22Speaker 4: They got a little mini indoor mini golf course.
- 34:26Speaker 3: Out here in Nashville.
- 34:27Speaker 6: It was bawling now. The course fairly simple. You saw everybody.
- 34:30Speaker 4: They were very simple, at least minus thirty throughout the
- 34:33Speaker 4: sample bro all four rounds.
- 34:35Speaker 6: But your boy won a pretty massive side bet.
- 34:39Speaker 3: What round did you go?
- 34:40Speaker 1: Man?
- 34:40Speaker 3: Well, I mean what place did you.
- 34:41Speaker 6: I think I like tied for twelve something low?
- 34:44Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I mean I'm not.
- 34:46Speaker 6: I played with the boys, like you know, you been
- 34:48Speaker 6: seed your guys expectations.
- 34:51Speaker 7: I expected you to do right around what you did.
- 34:54Speaker 3: Okay, y'all been to that new one the.
- 34:56Speaker 6: Year before in Arizona. Remember, I was like it was terrible,
- 35:00Speaker 6: like what plus six had a lot going on? Plus eight.
- 35:05Speaker 7: He was trying to get a pass for it from
- 35:07Speaker 7: the ambassador.
- 35:08Speaker 3: Oh, that's right.
- 35:09Speaker 6: Yeah, that's right. Trying to go to Mexico and not
- 35:11Speaker 6: to mention Dave talking to me like I'm a little kid. Bro.
- 35:14Speaker 6: That was come on, Willie, Yeah, hey, don't talk during
- 35:16Speaker 6: his swing.
- 35:16Speaker 3: Come on, Willie, you can do this. You can do this.
- 35:19Speaker 3: You was that terrible, Bro.
- 35:20Speaker 6: I was bad.
- 35:21Speaker 4: I think I was like plus eight throughout the tournament,
- 35:24Speaker 4: like I was like, I think last, and so knowing
- 35:27Speaker 4: that I made the cut to go to the final
- 35:29Speaker 4: two rounds was your boy?
- 35:31Speaker 3: Was hype.
- 35:31Speaker 4: But I had a side beck going on with the
- 35:32Speaker 4: four Play guys. There was a little a little dust
- 35:36Speaker 4: up back in uh what August something like that. Last
- 35:40Speaker 4: year we kind of went back and forth with Riggs,
- 35:43Speaker 4: who's the head guy for the four Play pod because
- 35:46Speaker 4: of something that I think Frankie was talking about on
- 35:48Speaker 4: a podcast.
- 35:48Speaker 6: I think it was not the rundown Barstool Radio, Yeah, Barstool.
- 35:52Speaker 4: Radio of the merch, right, I had one of my
- 35:54Speaker 4: you know, pantry talks, and so that was kind of
- 35:59Speaker 4: we were kind of argue in about I mean, it
- 36:02Speaker 4: was stupid, but four Play promoing merch, them promoing our
- 36:06Speaker 4: busting golf merch.
- 36:07Speaker 6: There was like there was a dust. Yeah, there was
- 36:10Speaker 6: a dust, and so playing with him, I go up.
- 36:13Speaker 4: I was like, hey, boys, you know, I would hate
- 36:15Speaker 4: for us to all go to the ground today and
- 36:17Speaker 4: you know, be disrespectful to the tournament.
- 36:19Speaker 6: We kind of like chuckled about it.
- 36:20Speaker 4: But I'll say, hey, I gotta bet if all three
- 36:23Speaker 4: of you, because they're all golf guys, all three of
- 36:25Speaker 4: you beat me, I will, I will monkey dance, I'll do.
- 36:29Speaker 4: I am at your mercy for any content you want
- 36:32Speaker 4: to make for me to promo your guys' golf merch.
- 36:35Speaker 4: Since that's what everything was over. I was like, but
- 36:37Speaker 4: if I beat any one of you three, then it's
- 36:41Speaker 4: vice versa. It's flipped. I get to do the same
- 36:43Speaker 4: with y'all. And they were they Riggs, he was confident.
- 36:46Speaker 4: I was kind of nervous how confident he was. I
- 36:49Speaker 4: felt like it was trimp but I didn't know. And
- 36:51Speaker 4: Rigs and Frankie crushed it. They were like in the
- 36:53Speaker 4: top five, like they were battling up. There was the
- 36:56Speaker 4: final group. It was down to like the last two holes.
- 36:59Speaker 4: Frankie Riggs were in that group and it was me
- 37:02Speaker 4: and Trent in like the last place group into the
- 37:04Speaker 4: like final round and I was up six strokes on
- 37:07Speaker 4: Trent and that's all who I had to beat. But
- 37:10Speaker 4: I bogied the very first hole, and they kind of,
- 37:13Speaker 4: you know, I was legitimately nervous, like in my head,
- 37:15Speaker 4: like fuck, I can't lose this lead.
- 37:17Speaker 3: I can't lose this lead. I can't lose this lead.
- 37:19Speaker 6: And sure enough, the first three holes I bogey all
- 37:22Speaker 6: three of them.
- 37:22Speaker 4: He gets three strokes on me right out of the gate,
- 37:25Speaker 4: and I'm thinking the uh yeah, I'm in my fucking head, like, oh,
- 37:29Speaker 4: they hear his footsteps.
- 37:30Speaker 3: The here his footsteps.
- 37:32Speaker 6: And there's this dude wife's hole in the fourth hole
- 37:35Speaker 6: where you hit it up.
- 37:36Speaker 4: When you hit it up the ramp, it goes into
- 37:37Speaker 4: this toilet the dude wipe frilet no free shot outs.
- 37:39Speaker 3: To dude wives.
- 37:40Speaker 4: And then usually you get a hole in one, it'll
- 37:42Speaker 4: like drop down and be right around the hole, but
- 37:44Speaker 4: it's a par three, so you can make.
- 37:45Speaker 3: Up a couple of strokes.
- 37:47Speaker 4: He fucking hits it out of bounce, shits down his
- 37:49Speaker 4: leg and four four puts that hole.
- 37:53Speaker 6: So he loses those three strokes a gon on me.
- 37:55Speaker 4: He lost right there, and that's kind of I was
- 37:57Speaker 4: able to maintain that same lead throughout the rest of.
- 37:59Speaker 3: The How did he hit it out of bounce when
- 38:01Speaker 3: he went up the ramp? Did it fly to the
- 38:03Speaker 3: ramp so you got to give it?
- 38:05Speaker 4: So they went to the left of the ramp and
- 38:07Speaker 4: then skipped up off something and went out of bound,
- 38:10Speaker 4: so then he had to drop.
- 38:11Speaker 6: He hit it close to the hole, missed the hole,
- 38:14Speaker 6: and then he had to.
- 38:14Speaker 4: Hit an extra putt. But fortunately I maintained the lead.
- 38:18Speaker 4: But your boy, yeahs always hanging on because I was like, man.
- 38:22Speaker 6: This would be huge. You know, we gotta get this.
- 38:24Speaker 3: They did have a lot of clips of you shooting,
- 38:26Speaker 3: so I gotta watch the whole thing.
- 38:28Speaker 4: I only you gotta waste your time watching all that
- 38:31Speaker 4: your boy, your boy put on for the squad.
- 38:33Speaker 3: I beat who I needed to be.
- 38:34Speaker 7: You set up you set up a match.
- 38:36Speaker 3: Set up a match with Garrett.
- 38:37Speaker 4: Because Riggs was sitting next to me and he was like, hey,
- 38:40Speaker 4: your boy Garrett, how is he at golf? I was like,
- 38:42Speaker 4: he's pretty good at golf. That's why I texted you
- 38:44Speaker 4: what you're He's like, what's his handicap?
- 38:45Speaker 3: I was like I don't know.
- 38:47Speaker 4: I was like, let me text him though, because Garrett
- 38:49Speaker 4: had sent out a tweet for play is doing this
- 38:53Speaker 4: segment to where they take people who are like haters
- 38:55Speaker 4: who have been chripping Rigs forever, like on the internet,
- 38:58Speaker 4: who are like the golfers of them, and they try
- 39:01Speaker 4: to pay for everything and fly him out or whatever
- 39:04Speaker 4: dow I want to put words, like.
- 39:05Speaker 3: They put them up in a five star hotel.
- 39:07Speaker 4: Just start saying first class, black car service. But they
- 39:13Speaker 4: take care of him coming out to play one on
- 39:15Speaker 4: one against Rigs, like it's Riggs versus Hater, and he says,
- 39:19Speaker 4: it's actually way harder than they thought it'd be because
- 39:21Speaker 4: guys are like back out last.
- 39:23Speaker 3: Minute or like sailor hater.
- 39:24Speaker 4: You know, then they don't want to but they had
- 39:26Speaker 4: a really good one to where it ended up being
- 39:29Speaker 4: a big benefit, and you know then obviously they make
- 39:32Speaker 4: amends and the cats like, all right, yeah, you're not
- 39:34Speaker 4: that bad and it was a.
- 39:35Speaker 3: Good golf match.
- 39:36Speaker 4: But anyway, Garrett comments to him and says, hey, I'm
- 39:39Speaker 4: a low key hater and writes to tweet the Riggs.
- 39:42Speaker 4: Rigs sees it and he's sitting next to me in
- 39:44Speaker 4: the gambling cave and he's like, hey, your boy Garrett's
- 39:46Speaker 4: He like, like, he's good at golf. The cat that
- 39:48Speaker 4: I was telling you when we were doing our thing
- 39:50Speaker 4: back and forth. I was like, listen, I can't play
- 39:52Speaker 4: you in golf and settle it like on the golf course.
- 39:55Speaker 4: But one of our producers could. I was like, this
- 39:58Speaker 4: is the cat I was talking about, and he's like,
- 40:00Speaker 4: all right, let's set that up. So I think it's
- 40:02Speaker 4: right now. It's tentatively in early September when they're out
- 40:05Speaker 4: here for the Barstool Invitational class. So we're gonna, yeah,
- 40:09Speaker 4: the classic, we're gonna get Garrett Garrett versus Rigs.
- 40:15Speaker 3: It is eighteen. It will be eighteen.
- 40:17Speaker 10: They do eighteen because.
- 40:19Speaker 4: Garret your handicaps like what five six? Yeah, because Riggs
- 40:23Speaker 4: was like, oh that's perfect. I'm around the exact same.
- 40:26Speaker 3: No, he's not. You know what.
- 40:28Speaker 10: Things though, I've watched the one with the Haters when
- 40:31Speaker 10: it came out, and the guy's.
- 40:33Speaker 3: Whole the hater was up on him. He said he
- 40:35Speaker 3: said he was on the hater won did he? Yeah?
- 40:39Speaker 10: The whole like thing is people just ship on Rigs.
- 40:43Speaker 10: Like he's not wrong. People ship on him. They consume
- 40:46Speaker 10: their content enough. But the merch thing was enough for
- 40:49Speaker 10: me to be like.
- 40:50Speaker 4: I'll play you, yeah, and like it's not enough to
- 40:53Speaker 4: where you're in the comments like everybody else.
- 40:55Speaker 10: But I think I've come three times. Yeah, but this
- 40:58Speaker 10: guy that they have an episode out with has commented
- 41:01Speaker 10: like eighty times, like DMed him a ton, and so
- 41:06Speaker 10: Ridge was like, all right, like let's just do this.
- 41:08Speaker 10: But the guy ended up beating Rigs and they're both like,
- 41:12Speaker 10: I mean, I can imagine nerves are flying. I was
- 41:14Speaker 10: nervous when we when I hit at the spit and chicken. Yeah,
- 41:18Speaker 10: but I mean, yeah, it's it's gotta be tough to
- 41:22Speaker 10: get shipped on and then have to try and back
- 41:24Speaker 10: it up and then it not go your way.
- 41:26Speaker 4: Yeah, he said the cat was pretty good and it
- 41:28Speaker 4: ended up being like a kind of an emotional deal
- 41:30Speaker 4: at the end.
- 41:31Speaker 3: Yeah. The guy there was like a benefit.
- 41:34Speaker 6: From like something.
- 41:35Speaker 10: I think Riggs like originally was like all right, yeah,
- 41:37Speaker 10: I'll do this one because the guy was like, uh,
- 41:40Speaker 10: winter to donate. It's a thousand dollars to a charity
- 41:43Speaker 10: of choice, right, and then the guy ended up having
- 41:44Speaker 10: his own charity because they had lost their child and
- 41:48Speaker 10: so it like went to something that they were doing
- 41:51Speaker 10: for that and it kind of caught Rigs off guard
- 41:53Speaker 10: and at the end and so yeah, they're closing it out,
- 41:56Speaker 10: guys like I'm gonna donate this regard list, like thanks
- 42:00Speaker 10: for doing this because I know people will see this,
- 42:03Speaker 10: and so there was a good like benefit from it.
- 42:06Speaker 10: My benefit, I mean, I don't really have one.
- 42:09Speaker 3: But it'll be good. It'll be a nice little, nice
- 42:12Speaker 3: little grudge match.
- 42:13Speaker 9: Sometimes I just feel like with podcasts, even though they
- 42:17Speaker 9: say they haters, they really not haters.
- 42:19Speaker 3: They like fans, you know what I'm saying.
- 42:21Speaker 4: But that segment is like a hater segment from that
- 42:24Speaker 4: when they announced it. He's like, it's hard to fill
- 42:26Speaker 4: throughout who's actually a hater because when they announce it,
- 42:30Speaker 4: people are just now hating just to hate me. They
- 42:32Speaker 4: want to hit a golf trip. You're a massive brand.
- 42:36Speaker 3: There you go.
- 42:37Speaker 4: And he's like, so we gotta like it's like you
- 42:39Speaker 4: find people who you might have and then you got
- 42:41Speaker 4: to go back in time and.
- 42:42Speaker 6: See if they've been an actual hater.
- 42:44Speaker 9: Yeah, you gotta be like on some back in the day,
- 42:46Speaker 9: like if I see you home, kill your now you
- 42:49Speaker 9: got to you gotta be straight hated like, you get
- 42:53Speaker 9: this by he'll be good.
- 42:54Speaker 10: That's why my original thing was over the merch thing, right,
- 42:59Speaker 10: and so that that's where the whole thing is.
- 43:01Speaker 3: It'll be perfect, It'll be perfect. We had a good time.
- 43:03Speaker 3: It was a good time hanging Ye where they gonna
- 43:04Speaker 3: play at I don't know where.
- 43:06Speaker 10: They where they do here and it's at Hermitage.
- 43:10Speaker 3: Oh, Hermitage. Yeah, I was out with h.
- 43:15Speaker 6: There's our home course.
- 43:18Speaker 4: See, Garrett's got to show up man, Like he said,
- 43:21Speaker 4: we can't let him get in his head. We need
- 43:22Speaker 4: one good hold to where we can all talk shit
- 43:24Speaker 4: forward Garrett and then it's like that.
- 43:25Speaker 10: That's be the funnest part is like having both squads.
- 43:29Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, chirping each other. You having fun. That
- 43:31Speaker 3: will be fun. Yeah. We just do something like on
- 43:33Speaker 3: every hole to.
- 43:34Speaker 10: The one that they did with this guy, Like it
- 43:37Speaker 10: did get kind of tense because it's just the two
- 43:39Speaker 10: of them and like the camera guys, so there's not like.
- 43:41Speaker 3: Everybody's kind of boys talking.
- 43:44Speaker 10: Yeah, so that I feel like it'd be a good time.
- 43:47Speaker 3: Both nights we had a little little cocktail crew.
- 43:49Speaker 4: It was myself, Ryan Whitney, Francis and Frankie and dude
- 43:54Speaker 4: hearing some of Frankie's old stories, like being in the
- 43:56Speaker 4: trenches because he was like Dave's first guy getting paid
- 44:00Speaker 4: like forty forty five grand when it first started. He
- 44:02Speaker 4: was like, you know, hey, Frankie, were outside the pizza
- 44:04Speaker 4: bot blah blah blah blah blah. And hearing some of
- 44:07Speaker 4: those old school stories from Frankie just how everything came
- 44:11Speaker 4: to be. It was insane because he's like a fiery dude,
- 44:15Speaker 4: very passionate, Like when he makes a shot, he just
- 44:17Speaker 4: has like fucking he just loses it. He was like
- 44:20Speaker 4: all out loves it, and but listening to his stories, man,
- 44:25Speaker 4: he's like yoday, like he's like, just be sitting on
- 44:27Speaker 4: my computer if they didn't feel like I was working,
- 44:29Speaker 4: But hey, what are you looking at?
- 44:30Speaker 6: Turn your computer around and show me, and you know
- 44:32Speaker 6: you're just like on edge, he shouted out.
- 44:35Speaker 4: Nate, he like bought him a sub before he went
- 44:38Speaker 4: up for his interview because he was wearing like a
- 44:41Speaker 4: nice fit to go up, but then he caught win
- 44:43Speaker 4: that he was chirping everybody that was dressed nice, so
- 44:45Speaker 4: he felt dumb going up there, like look having a
- 44:48Speaker 4: gidda up on and they was like, hey, so what's
- 44:50Speaker 4: your pitch gonna be? And he kind of said something
- 44:51Speaker 4: He's like, no, Dave doesn't give a fuck about any
- 44:53Speaker 4: of that stuff. He's like, you need to have X,
- 44:55Speaker 4: Y and Z and he said it like helped him
- 44:57Speaker 4: be in an interview. And then how Dave found Austin.
- 45:00Speaker 4: Austin was kind of like through Frankie because Austin he
- 45:02Speaker 4: would send he would send the pizza videos because he knew.
- 45:06Speaker 3: That was his baby, yeah, and he would send.
- 45:09Speaker 4: He would like outsource him to Austin to work for free.
- 45:11Speaker 4: Basically like hey, if you do this right, I can
- 45:13Speaker 4: get you, I can tech you.
- 45:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:15Speaker 4: That way, when Frankie left to go do four play
- 45:17Speaker 4: pod and make other content, do things that he thought
- 45:20Speaker 4: he could bring more value to, He's like he just
- 45:22Speaker 4: had this plug and play guy with Austin because he's like,
- 45:25Speaker 4: well can he do he can't edit my pizza videos.
- 45:27Speaker 4: He's like, oh, he's been doing it for X amount
- 45:29Speaker 4: of months and so I got him in filtered him in.
- 45:32Speaker 4: That's how Austin got linked up and got the gig
- 45:35Speaker 4: with Dave. Because Dave, that's like a twenty four to
- 45:37Speaker 4: seven you're like all in around Dave. Sure, but it
- 45:40Speaker 4: was sick hearing some of those old stories shout out
- 45:43Speaker 4: the crew man, I think, what is it he named
- 45:47Speaker 4: our group Chad.
- 45:48Speaker 10: Shout out with for whooping everyone's ass.
- 45:51Speaker 6: Yeah. Bro, it was like he's going through the final round.
- 45:53Speaker 4: It's like a sweet putt with like you're fucking beating
- 45:56Speaker 4: everybody by ten strokes. Wit is so funny. He's so
- 46:00Speaker 4: fun to be around. He's got this that northern accent. Yeah,
- 46:05Speaker 4: kind of always sees everything like talk speaks from like
- 46:08Speaker 4: the negative light of it. And he's just his mannerisms
- 46:10Speaker 4: are so funny. But let's do our Let's hit our
- 46:13Speaker 4: twisted question. Hit our twisted question. Bit just gonna set
- 46:18Speaker 4: this one up. Let's see here, let me go ahead, Well,

- 46:51Speaker 5: This twisted question comes from the same guys last week.
- 46:55Speaker 5: It's on the same picture. Would you rather have every
- 46:59Speaker 5: hair on your body plucked off? One by one? We
- 47:02Speaker 5: have all of your toe nails ripped off.
- 47:08Speaker 3: That's a lot of hair that you gotta plug off.
- 47:13Speaker 3: We're answering how we want to be tortured. This dude is, uh,
- 47:18Speaker 3: what do you do?
- 47:19Speaker 6: Needs to be writing for the Saw movies? Yeah, like
- 47:22Speaker 6: what do you do for I don't I don't know.
- 47:24Speaker 4: I got pb hair hair plucked off, but then again
- 47:29Speaker 4: the nails go fast.
- 47:31Speaker 3: Yeah, but that's hurt deep. I know that'll take forever.
- 47:37Speaker 3: Like that's what everybody, every hair on your body.
- 47:42Speaker 6: Buttole we're getting ripped off from the sack bro just
- 47:48Speaker 6: laying there.
- 47:51Speaker 9: I mean, that's the easy one. I mean, I don't
- 47:53Speaker 9: feel like that's gonna hurt much. So I'm I'm gonna
- 47:56Speaker 9: do the hair.
- 47:59Speaker 6: I think I'm going else here.
- 48:03Speaker 3: I think you just gotta get him.
- 48:06Speaker 9: I just I just don't feel like your big it
- 48:09Speaker 9: probably would come right out. I'm dead serious. So they
- 48:18Speaker 9: didn't even feel it. You see what I'm saying.
- 48:23Speaker 3: Hey, the couple came out like I don't even have
- 48:26Speaker 3: no pubic hair. I feel I didn't feel it, my shi.
- 48:38Speaker 3: It is like falling out but growing at the same time.
- 48:41Speaker 3: You feel kind of pulling from you go for the leg.
- 48:44Speaker 4: Bro huh, I feel it. That didn't That ain't ship
- 48:55Speaker 4: and you plucked that bitch out. I I rather do
- 49:00Speaker 4: the hair, all right, Maybe it's hair. We'll got a
- 49:03Speaker 4: lot of hair.
- 49:08Speaker 3: You know, we're pulling like a bitch. I don't feel that.
- 49:14Speaker 3: I feel that. See, and you can't just do one
- 49:17Speaker 3: at the time. You, Hey, let me get one of
- 49:19Speaker 3: your eyebrow. Hell just one? No, no, hell no, you're
- 49:23Speaker 3: gonna make me look like I put a fucking line
- 49:25Speaker 3: in my ship.
- 49:26Speaker 4: You only gotta three hair, you know you want, and
- 49:29Speaker 4: you're not gonna be able to get what you're gonna yanke,
- 49:31Speaker 4: and it's just one.
- 49:33Speaker 3: You're gonna take three here, go for it, man, you go.
- 49:53Speaker 3: I felt that. I feel like that Tom never heard
- 49:58Speaker 3: a little I still gonna take that one. That pain
- 50:05Speaker 3: is quick. No, no, I know that you don't hurt.
- 50:08Speaker 3: He said, it's toenails. Give me suppliers.
- 50:14Speaker 6: I'm gonna say toenails.
- 50:17Speaker 4: I'm gonna do hair. That pain ain't it's quick. It's
- 50:20Speaker 4: like somebody, it's gonna be quick. Think about your toenails
- 50:25Speaker 4: when they's I can just imagine all the nerves.
- 50:30Speaker 3: I have my toenails on and pain painful.
- 50:34Speaker 4: You couldn't even touch it, like put your shoe on,
- 50:39Speaker 4: I can your sock made gets stuck to the meat.
- 50:42Speaker 3: Eger Oh Jesus Christ. Yeah, okay, what y'all doing? I'm
- 50:50Speaker 3: doing hair?
- 50:51Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm probably here if you if there's like a
- 50:54Speaker 8: repercussion thing like you, it's like, wait, totails take like.
- 50:57Speaker 10: Eight months ago back.
- 50:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 51:00Speaker 8: But also hair, you're gonna be fully bald everywhere for
- 51:03Speaker 8: like at least three or.
- 51:04Speaker 6: Four months, looking like Josh Dobbs.
- 51:08Speaker 3: I know I didn't that look. It's kind of clean though, Yeah,
- 51:17Speaker 3: I probably do hair. Shu hurt though.
- 51:21Speaker 4: Yeah, that top lip is right in his crevices though.
- 51:28Speaker 4: I felt that hair for sure for me.
- 51:31Speaker 3: Yeah, easy, I gotta worry about Like, come on, now, you.
- 51:39Speaker 4: Want I feel like you want your hair. Hair to
- 51:41Speaker 4: be as long as possible on that part, yes, everywhere, yes, yes,
- 51:45Speaker 4: because the shorter. Oh, they're gonna have to get it. Yeah,
- 51:49Speaker 4: they're gonna be yanking your skin out micro cuts and
- 51:53Speaker 4: ship it's it.
- 51:54Speaker 6: Uh some positivity. You got any you got you got
- 51:57Speaker 6: any dad tips.
- 52:00Speaker 3: Tips right now? Man? I have one, go ahead, bro.
- 52:05Speaker 3: So we celebrated yeah, so birthday.
- 52:13Speaker 6: Yeah, Rue had her second birthday. It was like it
- 52:15Speaker 6: was April third.
- 52:16Speaker 4: But anyway, we had our families in town. The reason
- 52:20Speaker 4: get the families together. We had a little pizza party.
- 52:22Speaker 4: But dad tip, my dad tip would be to have
- 52:27Speaker 4: kids they're not gonna remember their second no at all.
- 52:29Speaker 4: Have those birthday parties that spots you enjoy eating at
- 52:35Speaker 4: so DICE's pizza, No free shots of Dices, love their pizza.
- 52:38Speaker 4: Nice little outdoor environment so the kids can run around
- 52:40Speaker 4: and play and all that stuff. But my dad tip
- 52:42Speaker 4: would be to build the birthday party around a place you.
- 52:45Speaker 3: Like to go.
- 52:47Speaker 9: It's funny you say that is a great tip because
- 52:49Speaker 9: my daughter birthday or eight year old, both her eight
- 52:51Speaker 9: year old, eight year birthday, we went to a actually
- 52:58Speaker 9: a place that may like a brewery, but it was
- 53:03Speaker 9: like an outdoor area for kids too though, so like
- 53:06Speaker 9: all the adults because if you no, I'm saying, if you.
- 53:10Speaker 3: Want to have your birthday party at a brewery, but.
- 53:12Speaker 9: It was it was split. It was like a kids
- 53:15Speaker 9: thing and a brewer, so all the parents will come.
- 53:17Speaker 9: That's how you get the parents to come to bring
- 53:19Speaker 9: all the kids. So we had more kids than we
- 53:22Speaker 9: thought we would have because the parents wanted to come
- 53:25Speaker 9: because it was like, oh, we get to drink cider
- 53:29Speaker 9: and watch our kids have fun in this area that's secure.
- 53:32Speaker 9: It was gated off, it had a back area, but
- 53:34Speaker 9: it was they so sighter, and I'm like, oh, this
- 53:38Speaker 9: was a great idea because all the kids came. My
- 53:41Speaker 9: daughter had the best birthday she ever had because everyone
- 53:44Speaker 9: brought their kids. Because if the parents, the parents want
- 53:48Speaker 9: to go, If the parents don't want to go, your
- 53:50Speaker 9: party gonna be light. But if the parents do want
- 53:52Speaker 9: to go, you're going to have a pack party. And
- 53:55Speaker 9: so I take that, like what you said, Yeah you
- 53:58Speaker 9: gotta take that.
- 53:59Speaker 4: Yeah know that that seems to play get the kids
- 54:01Speaker 4: like flights of juice, different juices.
- 54:04Speaker 7: That would be hype.
- 54:07Speaker 4: About them breweries and you get like a flight, right
- 54:10Speaker 4: they think they yeah, they want something right right.
- 54:14Speaker 3: No, they kind of did something like that too. They
- 54:18Speaker 3: gotta did something I wasn't in I wasn't in control
- 54:20Speaker 3: of that situation.
- 54:21Speaker 4: But what uh shout out for shot? You boys got shoutouts?
- 54:26Speaker 4: That's gonna be my my shoutout for shot. It is
- 54:28Speaker 4: gonna be my dad tip.
- 54:31Speaker 7: No, I'm not gonna let that slide.
- 54:34Speaker 3: At all. I know you have one to speak up.
- 54:39Speaker 3: I got one.
- 54:40Speaker 9: Uh, I got a shout out, no free shout out.
- 54:44Speaker 9: And I know y'all gonna be like this boy on
- 54:46Speaker 9: heavy equipment right now. But it's scared stare. Bro, I
- 54:50Speaker 9: got a two ninety scared stare. And I'm gonna be
- 54:54Speaker 9: honest with you. Your boy is country as hell. All
- 54:57Speaker 9: of a sudden, I'm out here, I'm making trails. I
- 55:01Speaker 9: just made a shooting.
- 55:02Speaker 3: Range with this thing. I mean, I am clearing land. Bro.
- 55:06Speaker 9: Never thought something I'll be doing something like that, especially
- 55:08Speaker 9: me being black from the hood and now I live
- 55:11Speaker 9: in the Contornia.
- 55:12Speaker 3: From California to concrete jungle. You feel me?
- 55:16Speaker 9: We don't have grass turns you out? Yeah, I'll say
- 55:19Speaker 9: that Tennessee more like Tennessee. More like turn me out,
- 55:22Speaker 9: so no shout out, no free shout out. Two nine
- 55:25Speaker 9: nine d skared staring from Caterpillar Baby, I'll at you boy.
- 55:31Speaker 3: We love a piece of a court, but I'll love
- 55:33Speaker 3: another one to give me a shout out. It'll be
- 55:38Speaker 3: our boy mom hats. Our boy mom hats dropped. Oh,
- 55:42Speaker 3: just drop, they're dropping. When do they drop?
- 55:44Speaker 4: Officially Wednesday? So if you're listening right now, these boy
- 55:48Speaker 4: mom hats dropped tomorrow. I think this is awesome.
- 55:52Speaker 3: Because I'm gonna give me one of those with the
- 55:54Speaker 3: Boys Podcast.
- 55:54Speaker 4: All the boys out there, I'm sure you have a
- 55:57Speaker 4: stunned mother that's been behind the scenes for your entire life,
- 56:00Speaker 4: get them hook them up with one of those for
- 56:02Speaker 4: Mother's Day. Or if your wife. If you guys are
- 56:06Speaker 4: expecting a boy, what a great gift to get your wife.
- 56:09Speaker 4: If you have a son, I know people are like,
- 56:11Speaker 4: oh when her dad boys stuff dropping. We're not trying
- 56:13Speaker 4: to couck the son of a boy dad fellas out there,
- 56:16Speaker 4: but we got some boy mom hats that are dropping
- 56:19Speaker 4: that I think it's gonna be those are gonna be sick.
- 56:21Speaker 4: And number one, there barsol doubts that those pulls show
- 56:25Speaker 4: a lot because we can only do two colors. So
- 56:27Speaker 4: once we prove this model, I think there's only only
- 56:30Speaker 4: gonna be like one hundred, one hundred and fifty in stock.
- 56:32Speaker 4: So once we move those then we'll get more color waves.
- 56:36Speaker 4: Right now, we got the natural look. I pulled around
- 56:40Speaker 4: a couple couple of the ladies in my life. They
- 56:41Speaker 4: said natural and they said navy. So we got natural
- 56:44Speaker 4: color and we got navy coming out first. So once
- 56:46Speaker 4: we sell those out, I'm sure we can do more stuff.
- 56:48Speaker 4: But a sick, a sick Mother's Day gift, a gift
- 56:54Speaker 4: for a boy mom out there. We got them a natural,
- 56:59Speaker 4: natural and navy.
- 57:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll be getting minds on Wednesday. Mate, put that on.
- 57:04Speaker 3: I don't want to mess up my hair right now.
- 57:06Speaker 3: I gotta go through it. It ain't moving, but it
- 57:12Speaker 3: will flat that ship there.
- 57:14Speaker 6: You look funny and a little like a flimsy Dad
- 57:17Speaker 6: had to.
- 57:18Speaker 9: Me, Yeah, I know they don't fit me really well.
- 57:21Speaker 9: I need like a straight band like card Brown. Snap
- 57:25Speaker 9: back them flimsy ones. My head is just your way too,
- 57:30Speaker 9: like a musclehead.
- 57:31Speaker 3: Sure, I mean, is are you not? No white face?
- 57:37Speaker 9: That's a football stack that's just for playing football. That's
- 57:40Speaker 9: for playing football. If I didn't play football, probably be
- 57:43Speaker 9: skinny for sure.
- 57:44Speaker 6: You're not skinny now you don't play I've been playing
- 57:49Speaker 6: all this time.
- 57:50Speaker 3: My body is just like Taylor. Yeah I don't.
- 57:54Speaker 9: Yeah, Taylor only exempics for sure. If I took that out,
- 58:00Speaker 9: be skinny as hell. Now I'll just mess with you, tailor.
- 58:06Speaker 3: For real.
- 58:07Speaker 4: But for real, All right, let's get into the UH.
- 58:12Speaker 4: We'll get into the Coach Rule episode.
- 58:14Speaker 7: Hang on, I think it would be wrong of us
- 58:16Speaker 7: not to shout out a big fight that's happened in
- 58:19Speaker 7: June twenty ninth.
- 58:20Speaker 4: Oh fuck yeah yeah UFC. Yeah, you know we had
- 58:25Speaker 4: our UFC three hundred talk. Another big thing that happens
- 58:27Speaker 4: in the UH presser afterwards. UH Dana announcing June twenty ninth,
- 58:31Speaker 4: it is official. Connor McGregor versus Michael Chandler the boy.
- 58:35Speaker 4: It's time to burn the fucking boats, dude. We're finally
- 58:37Speaker 4: getting that fight. We Mike's finally getting that fight. We

- 59:57Speaker 3: I know he's been waiting a minute.
- 59:59Speaker 4: It's been kind of geting worked on behind the scenes,
- 1:00:01Speaker 4: so he hasn't been able to talk about it a
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: whole lot. And then it's like getting fleshed out to
- 1:00:04Speaker 4: where it's like it's this quite even gonna happen. You
- 1:00:06Speaker 4: see Connor out there pushing roadhouse. You're looking a little
- 1:00:10Speaker 4: banged up on some of these interviews, and have you
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: been seeing it?
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: I mean, he just he just he you know, it
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: looked like he fucked up.
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: Yeah, but uh, I can't wait for the build up,
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: see them going back and forth, Seeknda McGregor kind of get,
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: you know, start talking some shit.
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: I mean, that's around the corner. Is he gonna be
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: like ready for that? Hopefully not. He might end this
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: one in the first round because even doing his movie thing,
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: you know what I mean.
- 1:00:38Speaker 6: So, but uh, we'll get into the Coach Rule episode.
- 1:00:42Speaker 4: The Coach Rule episode, we sit down with Coach when
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: we talked to him about, you know, not making a
- 1:00:46Speaker 4: bowl game, getting so close starting off to see what
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: will we five and three, and then we just drop
- 1:00:52Speaker 4: the next four to not make a bowl game, which
- 1:00:55Speaker 4: was unfortunate. The origin story if we Die, we Die,
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: We sat with a couple of players.
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: We sat with Coach.
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: There's some rumors going around whether it's before the Michigan game,
- 1:01:03Speaker 4: whether it's before the Northern Illinois game. We talked to
- 1:01:05Speaker 4: him about the if we die, we die speech. Uh
- 1:01:08Speaker 4: landing a top recruiting class and being aligned with the
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: new AD. Obviously, when coach rule got brought on, you
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: a coach, the president, President Carter, and you had the
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: Athletic Director Trev Alberts, who were pivotal.
- 1:01:19Speaker 6: In getting coach Rule to Lincoln.
- 1:01:21Speaker 4: And as everybody knows, with like the way that world works,
- 1:01:25Speaker 4: if it you know, an ad moves on, gets fired president,
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: whatever the case is, or usually the next guy that
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: comes in wants to bring in their own guys. So
- 1:01:33Speaker 4: how implemental coach rule was in this process with hiring
- 1:01:36Speaker 4: the new AD. We talked to him about that. But
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: it's an awesome episode. We had an incredible time out Lincoln, Nebraska.
- 1:01:41Speaker 4: The hospitalities out there is insane. They treat us very well.
- 1:01:45Speaker 4: You're gonna listen to the Coach Rule episode and then
- 1:01:46Speaker 4: The Dyan Rayl episode will be dropping later this morning
- 1:01:49Speaker 4: as you're if you're consuming this early right out of bed,
- 1:01:53Speaker 4: I think this is dropping like six am. Ll be
- 1:01:56Speaker 4: around lunchtime at some point. But again, awesome interviews, awesome
- 1:02:00Speaker 4: sit down with Coach Rule.
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: He's one of the best. He has.
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: I didn't know if he had pink eye, so I
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: didn't really allude to it. Then he hit me at
- 1:02:06Speaker 4: the live show. He's like, Hey, I saw you staring
- 1:02:07Speaker 4: at my eye and I was like, I didn't know
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: if I wanted to hit you with the joke. Did
- 1:02:10Speaker 4: your wife fought her on your pillow? I didn't know
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: where I could.
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: Go with that, said she was there, but don you know.
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: If you're in the comments, try not to say this
- 1:02:19Speaker 4: coach Will ask if Coach Will has pink guy in
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: the comments all love this episode again, Thank you guys
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: for listening. Make sure you subscribed on audio all video platforms.
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: Big hugs, tiny cases, shot at you guys for the support.
- 1:02:31Speaker 4: Enjoy this episode of Coach. I mean.
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: I won't have to lose with that.
- 1:02:40Speaker 6: Welcome to another episode of Busting with the Boys.
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: First question, Coach, what game? What game? Was there? If
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: we die? We die speech.
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: That was a that was Illinois, I believe. Yeah, No, No,
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: it wasn't Michigan.
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: That was Michigan. Does your players seem to think it
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: was Michigan.
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: You have to show it to me.
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: What y'all saying. What y'all saying out there?
- 1:03:14Speaker 10: That dies, that die?
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: It was that not you?
- 1:03:17Speaker 11: No?
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: Is that not you?
- 1:03:18Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, Oh we're bringing the banger.
- 1:03:22Speaker 6: If we died, we died, if we would have lost
- 1:03:26Speaker 6: the game, I would have died.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, strategy, Yeah, Michigan, Michigan. Michigan probably was more
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: like the halftime speech. And then the next day the
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: next day we went out. Next day we went out
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: and said, allright, you'll want to play on Saturdays. We're
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: gonn play on Sundays. Now, that's before we knew they
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: had our signal. I'm not saying that's what we lost,
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: but like before we knew all the kind of controversy
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: around the games. Man, we went out there Sunday night,
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: we had a Friday game Sunday night. There, my boy
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: Jay Let over there, he's got he's got like canned
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: footage of like I mean, it was I'm talking about
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: how long how long we go for it and a half,
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: like full play, like guys out there defense talking trash
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: of the offense, like like literally twenty four hours after
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: we just played Michigan. And I said, right, if you
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: don't play on Saturdays, if you know, we get down,
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: we're gonna just kind of roll over. Then we'll play
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: on Sundays. And we played, and then we went Friday
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: night to Illinois and we beat Illinois.
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: Yeah, so what did the players know that they were
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: going to practice on a Sunday.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: Oh, the coaches didn't know.
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: No one knew, No one knew.
- 1:04:25Speaker 12: No.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: I literally spent the whole day kind of going back
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: because you know, you don't want to overreact, right, But
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: we had had the Colorado game. The Colorado game was
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: our second game of the year, tough loss, first game
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: against Minnesota, the second game of the year, thirteen to
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: seven with like seven minutes left and we lose thirty
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: six thirteen. Kind of got away from this and I'm like,
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: all right, I'm trying to teach them come back. We
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: beatn Nord, Illinois, beat LA Tech, play Michigan, get down
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: twenty eight to nothing, and it's like darn it, and
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: just I'm not here to have guys. You know, I
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: love these guys too much to let them say ah
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: darn it. So I went back and forth all day
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: and then finally I was like, you know, what would
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: you have done back at Temple before all the before
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: all the stuff right before, you know, everyone's watching what
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: you're doing back at Temple, and we had the Hassan
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: Reddicks and the Dion Dawkins and all those like real dudes.
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: I was like, what we've done back then, we'd have
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: gone out and practiced. And so we went out there
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: and what I saw was these guys come to life.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: And that's why you know, we went out. We beat Illinois,
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: we beat Northwestern, we beat Purdue. We went a little
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: three game three or four game win streak, three game
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: win streak.
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: So.
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: We got some winners here. I just but literally it
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: was just like me and my heart back and forth,
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: what should I do? Because as a coach, you have
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: to get up there and present like you know what
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: you're doing. But sometimes you're like, man, I don't know
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: what to do right now, because you you don't want
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: someone to get hurt, you don't do the wrong thing,
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: but you also want them to know that you expect
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: more from them other than just if we're gonna lose,
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: we're gonna lose, but we're not gonna We're not gonna
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: lay down.
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: Yeah, how was that Throughout the year? Obviously you're not
- 1:05:52Speaker 4: feeling the expectation of Nebraska and the fan base and
- 1:05:55Speaker 4: everything else and falling short of like being boeligible, especially
- 1:05:59Speaker 4: when you had a couple of games there at the
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: end to do just that.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean we were five and three. You know,
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: it's five and three to finish five and seven, and
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: it's like anything else. Man, it's a double edged sword.
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: My heart really hurt for the older guys, right, like
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: they had been through so much, and some of them
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: came back just to help us get to be ball eligible,
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: to be the team that brought us back. I'm out.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: I'd walk downtown students and say, coach, I came back
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: for another year because I want to go to a
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: bowl game. So I felt that not for me, not expectation,
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: even just how much the players would put into it,
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: and to lose twenty to seventeen, and then to lose
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: thirteen to ten, and then to lose in overtime, and
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: then to lose thirteen ten on the last play to
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: walk off field goals. My heart hurt for those guys
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: cause I really really really appreciated those guys. With that
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: being said, sometimes you can go six and six. You
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: can go to a bowl game and go play in
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: a nice bowl game, be the team you should be
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: finished seven and six. Everybody's walk around smiling like we
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: have like an intensity about us. We have an urgency
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: about us that we might not have had have we
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: have we gone and gotten a little boat, the PlayStation
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: from the bowl game, a nice little job and suit.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: So I think we I think there's some positives, but
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: we didn't get it done.
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: That shows though, you can tell because y'all going five
- 1:07:17Speaker 4: and seven and still being one of the top, having
- 1:07:20Speaker 4: one of the top recruiting classes.
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: Talk a little bit about that.
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I think you as you see this place,
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: like you know, and again, facilities don't. What do facilities do?
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: They tell you that football is important here. Our fan
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: base tells people that football is important here, and so
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: we work our tails off. We work hard in recruiting
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: and just to get people here because I think once
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: you get here, like you walk around Lincoln, you go downtown,
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: you see the campus you're like, oh, snap, like this
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: is a really really cool place, and so you know
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: the highlights.
- 1:07:53Speaker 12: Lights.
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: But you know what, I honestly like, I think the
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: big thing is all along players could see like, hey,
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: my history at Temple, you know, being two and ten,
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: then being six and six, and then back to back
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: you know, top twenty five teams, go back to back
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: conference champions. You know, the top twenty five at different
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: times of the year. Uh, going to Baylor being one
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: and eleven, then being seven and six, then playing in
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: the Sugar Bowl. I think people realize, hey, this is
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: like a coach will try to build it the right way,
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: so to be five and seven, maybe outperform. So I
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: think a lot of young players are like, all right,
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: I see it. I see what they're trying to do.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: I see how they're doing it, and I think we're
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: gonna just gonna continue. We're gonna continue to crew.
- 1:08:34Speaker 4: Well, what do you feel like you've learned the first
- 1:08:35Speaker 4: year coaching being the head coach at University of Nebraska.
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: That you know, when I took this job, I was
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: very uncertain, you know, I was very like, nah, you know,
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: you just get fired. You're a little scarred, you know,
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: and I don't really know. I'm a Northeast guy. I
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: was very uncertain, like you know, not in a bad way,
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: just like in h and my wife was like, that's
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: the job. That's the job.
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: Go to Nebraska.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: That's the job. Go to Nebraska. So like two weeks in,
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: you know, cause I was living downtown, my family, my
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: kids were finishing school, I called her. I was like,
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: as usual, you were right, like this is a great place.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: Like I didn't know how good the people were. I
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: didn't know. I mean, this is a place and you
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: know this, but this is a place where like sixteen
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: minutes before the game, everybody's in the stands watching warm
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: ups like they oh, they love the player so much
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: that they want to watch even the guys who aren't
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: going to play, they want to watch them warm up.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: This is a place that like after the game, winner lose,
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: is going to stand up a cheer for you, probably
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: cheer for the opponent. So it's football done right. And
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: you know, I love the game of football, and this
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: is a place that loves football. So it's like the
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: perfect match for me, a perfect match for my family.
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: And I think that I think that we can be
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: what we're expecting to be gentlemen. I interrupt this episode
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: to bring you a brand near and dear to my heart,
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: and that brand is True Classic. I cannot stress how
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: much i love the way these teas listen. I've been
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: rocking True Classic for almost a year now. Nfortunately, the
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: boys have now came on board to collab with the
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: Fellas on promoting their brand because their shit is so comfortable. Look,
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: Deon Sanders.
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: Says the best.

- 1:10:12Speaker 6: play good.
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: You play good, they pay good.
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: I've been the guy looking for tea's where they snug
- 1:10:17Speaker 4: your arms just right. I am the guy that has
- 1:10:20Speaker 4: a little bit of flub. Did you get that, Mitch?
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: You get the flub, A little bit of flub.
- 1:10:25Speaker 6: That sits on my waistline.

- 1:10:35Speaker 4: that gives a little bit on your chest to give
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: you a little flowy sensation, to make it seem like
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: you look way more athletic than you actually are. I
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: am that guy, and I'm telling you True Classic, whether

- 1:10:57Speaker 3: I can put, I can load my spine.
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: With probably not that heavy, probably one five or two
- 1:11:03Speaker 4: twenty five, because my back's a little my back's a
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: little run down these days. But I could put, I
- 1:11:08Speaker 4: could Barbell Back Squad with a set of their genes
- 1:11:11Speaker 4: on because they are that flexible, their performance is that superior,
- 1:11:15Speaker 4: and they are that durable. Can this has True Classic
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: has the Willy guarantee on it. True Classic also has

- 1:11:24Speaker 4: can send it back for free. They have a spring collection.
- 1:11:27Speaker 4: I don't want to butcher the colors. I don't want
- 1:11:29Speaker 4: to butcher the colors, but they got a spring collection
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: with ten fresh colors that are vibrant and the crew neck,
- 1:11:35Speaker 4: v neck and polo styles from the serene tones of

- 1:11:41Speaker 4: what your mood is, they have a hue for you.
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: Shop True Classic, Shop with the Boys, True Classic.
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: The Men's Tea. Back to the episode.
- 1:11:53Speaker 9: So you think that's what made your decision easier to
- 1:11:56Speaker 9: leave the NFL and then come back to Nebraska.
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: Well, they made the decision for me when they told
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: me to get my ass your your key card will
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: not be working anymore.
- 1:12:09Speaker 7: No.
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: But but in all seriousness, you know, I I had
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: I had a chance to go be an assistant coach
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: in the in the NFL, the New York Giants, and
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: had an amazing experience, you know, worked with the old line,
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: the guys like you know, Chris Sneed, Dave Deal, David Boss,
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: like all these great dudes. And I was a young
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: assistant coach. Being a head coach in the NFL. Probably
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: was it really for me. Like I love players, and
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: you're caught there sometimes in like you're the guy, you're
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: cutting guys. You're the guy, and some guys probably can
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: do it way better than me, some guys, you know,
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: maybe like a Verable or someone who's played. I struggled
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: with coaching you, coaching you and then cutting you.
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: I you know, I struggled with my family not being
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: a part of it. Like last night, if you'd have
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: been here, the whole team, we have dinner in the
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: Hawks indoor players tell them invite their families, invite their girlfriends, coaches,
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: invite everybody. You know, my daughters are walking around. My
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: wife knows, not just our players, they're rolfriends, their families.
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: Like it's college and it's just a little bit more
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: how I'm wired, it's a little bit more relationship built. So,
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: you know, when when when Carolina didn't work out, it
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: was like, you know what, Hey, I I took a
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: shot at this. It was a great experience. But I
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: really love college football and this is a place that
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: I believe does college football right. You know, we're not
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: we're not using players. We're not we're not bringing them
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: in if they're not good enough, throwing them out. You know,
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: this is a place that really wants to develop guys,
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: and so that kind of matches who I am.
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: So did you did you always feel like you was
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: going to be a coach?
- 1:13:31Speaker 9: I know, playing linebacker at Penn State and then being
- 1:13:34Speaker 9: a GA at Penn State right after, did you feel
- 1:13:37Speaker 9: like this was your calling to be a coach, being
- 1:13:39Speaker 9: around young men, developing them, developing them and giving them
- 1:13:42Speaker 9: the opportunity to be players in the NFL.
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, from the time I was from the time,
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: I was like, I don't know, five, six, seven, eight
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: years old, I want to be a college football coach.
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: It's my wife sometimes she'll say to me, like, man,
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: you're so lucky, Like you know what you want to
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: do your whole life. You know, my dad, My dad's
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: a minister, and he's also but he's also a high
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: school teacher and coach. My uncle's in the pennsylvani high
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: school coach is all the fame. Like my whole life,
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: I always wanted to coach and coach college football.
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: I never want to coach high school, never really wanted
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: to coach the pros. I wanted to be a college
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: football coach. And I you know, being at Penn State,
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: being around Joe Paternal I wanted to do that. And
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: so being here now, you know, through the through the
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: journey of Temple to Baylor to Carolina here, you know,
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: being at a place that when I walk in every day,
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: I watched walk by five national championship trophies. That's That's
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: something When I was eight years old, I couldn't have
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: even comprehended.
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: Talk about the spring league that you've introduced this year,
- 1:14:32Speaker 4: it's been a talk of a couple of my group
- 1:14:34Speaker 4: chats really positive negative positive. A couple like all this
- 1:14:38Speaker 4: is interesting. But dudes talking like, you know, it's something
- 1:14:41Speaker 4: that it's something that changes it up during the spring time.
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: You know, spring can be there. Yeah, you know, I
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: tell you what it is. You know, I just I
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: was sitting there one day and I kept thinking about,
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: you know, the history of Nebraska, Tom milesborn. You know,
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: multiple drills going on, multiple fields going on. So we've
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: always tried to do that. You know, in basketball, like
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: you know, you can go play some league, right, you
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: can go play au when you're not in season. Baseball
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: you can go play Wooden bad league. And football you
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: basically just lift, you know, So how do you get
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: better at footballer than playing football? And so you know,
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: we have three quarterbacks. We have Heinrich, who won the
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: starting job halfway through the year. Unbelievable young man, gonna
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: get better and better and better. We have Danny Kalin,
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: the lead eleven quarterback for forty five minutes down the road,
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: Dylan Real let's just you know, on the top recruch
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: in the country. So we have three guys that want
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: to be the quarterback. And I started thinking about, like reps,
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: and I was like, no, we have enough aligneman, we
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: have enough of this, We have enough of that. What
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: if we just divided the team up into thirds and
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: we just played football, Because you know, when when I
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: was growing up, when you guys were growing up, like, yeah,
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: we had video games, you know, but like you guys
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: probably had phones. I didn't, but like we still went
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: out and played a lot. A lot of my guys
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: like that.
- 1:15:47Speaker 7: They don't.
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: They don't really grow up playing They might have played
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: little basketball, they play a lot of football. And so
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: let's play, let's put the ball down, let's let's have officials,
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: let's let let's just play the game and not just
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: do drills. And so that with a create, the staff
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: turned into the bug Eaters, turned into the Rattlesnake Boys,
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: turning the old gold Knights, taking the old team names,
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: and like it's crazy, like you're trying to tell your
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: guys to be leaders, and guys like nah, I try
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: to keep to myself, and then all a sudden I
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: name someone a GM. Hey you're the GM of this team,
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: and that team doesn't perform, He's like, hey, you're getting
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: cut tomorrow. Bro, Like, hey, if you don't know your like,
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: all of a sudden, you see, let this level of
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: competitiveness come out of our guys. So it's been unbelievably fun.
- 1:16:24Speaker 9: And we heard like you involved the injured guys as
- 1:16:27Speaker 9: being the GMS to keep everybody interacted with with the team.
- 1:16:31Speaker 9: And I think that's great, like to do something like that,
- 1:16:33Speaker 9: because let alone, sometimes when you injured, it almost felt
- 1:16:36Speaker 9: like the coaches never talked to you.
- 1:16:38Speaker 3: Not so I think that goes a long way too.
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: So I was watching a couple of a couple of
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: highlights back there, I saw you come on, make that tackle.
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: I okay, I want to I don't want to jump
- 1:16:53Speaker 4: around asking you about this, but a big reason why
- 1:16:55Speaker 4: you came here with Trev Alberts.
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: What was it like the day you got the phone
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: call that he was gonna be moving on to A
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: and M.
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, Trev had been really cool with me
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: and kind of talking to me about it beforehand, like hey,
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: this is out there, this could happen you know, for me,
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: for me. So what it was, I was in Scotland,
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: I was playing, I was playing. I took my son
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: on like a little golf trip. My son's a golfer
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: and you know, was graduating high school. He stayed behind
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: in Charlotte so that I could take this job. He
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: was like, hey, so I took me and him father's
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: son trip and I was coming down thirteen and my
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: phone rang and it was Trev and I picked it
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: up and I was like, oh, dang, all right, well, hey,
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: i'll call you later. I appreciate it. Then I went on,
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: I had to go ahead, go ahead and knock that
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: that little bar in something. But in my world, you
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: know of coaching, like people come and go right, like
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: people move on, doesn't we love them? Like I've had
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: different coordinators, I've had different coaches, Like players come, they graduate,
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: players come, their free agents, they move on. And I
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: think the biggest thing is always just to make the
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: most of your time when you're with somebody. So you know,
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: when I got hired, there was a present and there
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: was a ad that hired me.
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: That are both gone.
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: But I since I've been here, like this is home,
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: Like I love it here, Like my wife opened up
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: a business down in Lincoln. My kids are in school,
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: they're doing well. My son's coming to be a freshman here,
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: like this is where we want to live. So you know,
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: thankfully we hired Troy Dannon, who I've known since way
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: back at Temple. I mean he's a rock star, but
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: uh yeah, it was kind of a little bit of
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: a shock to be honest with you.
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: How do the decisions like that like affect your affect you?
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: Well, I think the biggest thing is, like, you know,
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: you want to have an A D two things. You
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: want to have an AD who wants you to be
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: the coach. You know what I'm saying, Like, you don't
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: want somebody who's like, yeah, he's the coach. But but
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: things get dicey, I'm moving on and hire my own guy,
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: right Like you want to feel like, hey, this is
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: my guy. Because the one thing I've learned in this job,
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: you can't do this job well if you don't have
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: like a great, great partner and you have to have
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: an AD or a GM or you know whatever who's
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: a great partner with you. And so Trevor is a
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: great partner.
- 1:18:58Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: When I was a Temple, you know, we want ton
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: of against. Pat Craft is now the AD at Penn
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: State was like like my right hand guy, Like we
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: battled through everything together as a Baylor. Mac Rose was
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: like my right hand guy. So Trev I picked coming
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: here partially because he was gonna be my right hand
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: guy when we lost him. Obviously it's frustrating, but I've
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: known Troy, and so when Troy came in the mix,
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: I was like, all right, that's someone that I really
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: believe in. You know, when you win at Tulane, like
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: you know how to get things done to win. And
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: we were sitting up in have a looc at one
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: of the bars and havevloc last year watching Tulane play
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: USC and watching Tulane beat USC and whatever bowl game.
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: It was like, that's mind blowing. So to have that
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: ad here with us, with these resources, I was like,
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: all right, we'll be all right.
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: Yeah, how much were you involved with that decision? With
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: getting him here?
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: With Troy, they asked me for some feedback. They asked
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: me for some names. I gave him three names, and
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: he was one of those names, you know. And obviously,
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: I mean I didn't pick it. You know, Chris Koborick
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: was in and President did all the work on it.
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: But I appreciated them saying like, hey, who would you know?
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: Who would you want? I said, hey, there's probably a
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: lot of guys here's a couple guys. I know, we
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: had just gotten to Washington, obviously getting to Washington, going
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: to the National Championship Game, and then leaving to come here.
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: That that's hard and it'll be hard for him. I
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: think it says a lot about Nebraska though, that someone
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: would be at a place like Washington and want to
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: come here. So they were really good to be through
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: that process, you know, asking me. I'm sure they asked
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: Fred some others, you know, hey, what do you think?
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: But that I knew that Troy was the type of
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: guy that would come here. And the whole thing is
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: always they just put this place on steroids, like we
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: got the best.
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: Of the best.
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: But like what we do need to do is like
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: we need to like have an urgency, Like we can't
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: just we can't be five and seven. We can't be
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: just an average team in the country. This is the
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: University of Nebraska. Like we're supposed to be here, and
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: we're here right now, and so it's not my fault
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: we're here, it's not anybody's fault we're here. We're just here.
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: But we got to get if it's if we're here
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: in three or four years, then that it is my fault.
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: So having Troy involved makes me feel really good about that.
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: Looking for an assistant with your credit card but can't
- 1:20:52Speaker 4: get a hold of anyone. Luckily, with twenty four to
- 1:20:54Speaker 4: seven US based live customer service from Discover, everyone has
- 1:20:58Speaker 4: the option to talk to a real person anytime, day
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: or night. Yes, you heard that right. You can talk
- 1:21:04Speaker 4: to a real human and customer service anytime. Sounds like
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: a real game changer if you ask the boys, make
- 1:21:10Speaker 4: the right call and get the service you deserve with Discover,
- 1:21:13Speaker 4: limitations apply see terms that discovered, dot com, slash credit card.
- 1:21:19Speaker 4: With what Troy getting involved too and the stuff that
- 1:21:21Speaker 4: you got to build with Trev, what do you what
- 1:21:24Speaker 4: areas do you feel like because you got these beautiful facilities?
- 1:21:28Speaker 4: What areas would you say could have been lacking to
- 1:21:32Speaker 4: where it's now? You guys are growing and getting a
- 1:21:34Speaker 4: lot better in those set areas.
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I think what Trev allowed me to do was
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: was go out and hire a big time strength staff
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: with the right amount of people, hire a big time
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: nutrition staff with you know, with the right amount of people.
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: And that that's nothing about aybody that was share before
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: they were they were great coach I'm saying, hiring my people.
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: And you know, I first started, like you know, we
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: had one strength coach and one assist in a temple,
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: and then it was like one strange coach and four assistants.
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: And now we live in a world where like, you
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: better have sports science people, and you better have interns,
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: and you better have you know, you better have a
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: pet and a director of rehab and a director of
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: return to play, And I mean, this is a whole
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: different world now. And so how do you keep players
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: from going into the portal and leaving. They know that
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: they're getting developed, they know they're getting better. I know
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: there was gonna say nil, Yeah, that's part of it obviously,
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: But if you're at a place where you're like, man,
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: I'm getting bigger, I'm getting stronger, my mind's getting better,
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: I'm learning the game of football. If you know you're
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: getting developed, then you're probably gonna stick around, and so
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: putting money and infrastructure into that. We have the best
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: I'm telling you, we're the best nutritionist in the country.
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: She's here, her and her team, they're here. They have
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: two full time chefs just for football who were also dieticians.
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: Like they know every person's food allergy, every person's want.
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: We have five guys doing Ramadan like they're here at
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: they're here at four point thirty four to forty five
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: making food for those guys so they can eat before
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: first prayer. They're giving them food at night like they
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: are the they are the best nutrition staff country. That's
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: not cheap, that's not easy.
- 1:23:02Speaker 3: Way to go.
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: Hire them from the SEC and bring them here so
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: travel out us to do all that stuff. The key
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: to me is putting the right people in this building.
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: And if you have the right people in this building,
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: that will track and retain really good players.
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: Yeah. I was just kind of like, hell, yeah, no,
- 1:23:19Speaker 3: that was that's real.
- 1:23:20Speaker 9: Like you gotta surround your You gott to surround your
- 1:23:23Speaker 9: athletes with the right people. That's the only way you
- 1:23:25Speaker 9: can make the program better. And I feel that I
- 1:23:27Speaker 9: wish I'll play for Nebraska.
- 1:23:30Speaker 6: They get you juiced stuff right.
- 1:23:34Speaker 4: Talk So like did you bring so you talked about
- 1:23:39Speaker 4: the n I n I L deal being from going
- 1:23:41Speaker 4: to the temple temple not having that and now having that,
- 1:23:44Speaker 4: How does that change your coaching your recruit Like how
- 1:23:48Speaker 4: is it because you old school now to this new
- 1:23:50Speaker 4: school where it's crazy and it's not really police.
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: So it's it's I think it's one of the good
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: things for me that I was in the NFL and
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: I up with the whole free agent process, right. Like
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: my whole thing in that time was like, hey, when
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: it gets to the end of the season, like you
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: handle your money like you handle you, you handle you.
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: Once you agree to your contract or you're with us,
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: then you're with us. And like that was always my thing.
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: So when a player was like, hey, you know, I'm
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: going to do this for my contract, I understood it
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: because I was like, you know, I've I've had probably
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: seven or eight different contracts. I've been head coached four
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: different times with you know, renegotiations. I probably had seven
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: eight contracts. Like, when it comes time for that, it's
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: time for that. So coming into the world of NIL,
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: when a player is seeking to get what's theirs, I
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: have no fundamental issue with that. If it starts to
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: bleed over into well, if I don't get this, I'm
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: not doing that. That's not how you It's not how
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: you do things in the NFL, other than you know,
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: if you're holding out, which is different. But I'm saying
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: like you know, you have to have your business side
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: and you have to have your other side. And so
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: we're preparing our guys for life, and we're preparing for
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: the National Football League and so everything they do, from
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: how they recover to taking notes and meetings to their
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: mindset to now how you handle the business part of
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: it is something that I want to be the best at.
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: So yeah, it's definitely different what I did see when
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: I was in the NFL when we draft to sit
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: young players, I saw some guys with a lot of
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: talent who at a couple of schools. I was like, man,
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: they really didn't coach you very hard today because they
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: were so afraid that maybe that person was going to
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: end up in the portal. And you know what, like,
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: I'm sorry, if you want to be great, you got
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: to get coached hard. If you want to be great,
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: you need to be coached hard. And what I mean
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: by that is when it's right, it's right, When it's
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: wrong it's wrong. When you do it right, MAYB, we're
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: going to celebrate when you do it wrong. We're not
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: going to celebrate when.
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: You do it wrong.
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: Again, We're going really we're going to talk about it.
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: And when I'm wrong, and I think that's one of
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: the things I do best as a head coach. When
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: I'm wrong, then I'm gonna talk about it too. I'm
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: gonna stand up front team, like I messed this up, guys.
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: And so being in a program that doesn't push guys
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: like that, they become fifth round draft picks instead of
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: first round draft picks. And we're trying to produce first
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: round draft picks. And you know, when I talked to
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: Dion Dawkins, when I talked to some of those guys
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: that I coached in college, they're still telling funny stories.
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: I don't even remember, Like you remember the time you
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: did this, Remember the time you do that. I probably
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: did do that, Like you're doing a coach poll anyone
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: I'm watching you.
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: But but but they need to be pushed, they need
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: to be developed. And so think about everything I've talked about.
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: You give them the best facilities, You put the best
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: people around them that are helping them and protecting them.
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: But then you have a high standard form. They gotta
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: want those things. And then at the same time, when
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: you have an opportunity, you know, if NIL can help
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: take care of them, then we take care of them,
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: and you know, that's why I believe. That's why I
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: believe they we're always going to be successful. And what
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: we've seen in two years is not many guys want
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: to leave, you know, they want to be here. There's
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: a difference between someone who's like, hey, coach, I'm not playing,
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: I'd love to go play at this way. We've helped
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: more guys do that. We love those guys, but no
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: one's saying, hey, I want to go leave because you
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: know I'm up said about this or that.
- 1:26:48Speaker 4: Do you feel like do you feel like Nebraska and
- 1:26:51Speaker 4: everybody around the state understands the importance of nil So
- 1:26:53Speaker 4: I know last year there were a couple of clips
- 1:26:55Speaker 4: going around, not of you pushing that note of you
- 1:26:58Speaker 4: pushing saying people don't but people having the expectation of
- 1:27:00Speaker 4: quarterback play. Hey, starting quarterback, it costs, it costs that
- 1:27:04Speaker 4: or you need the you need the level of support
- 1:27:06Speaker 4: out there to match the level of expection of expectation.
- 1:27:09Speaker 3: Do you feel like that's happening here?
- 1:27:10Speaker 11: Yeah?
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: I got I had some coaches. I had some coaches.
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: I had some coaches across the country hit me up like,
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: hey man, how do you go put.
- 1:27:16Speaker 3: That out there.
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: But I was like, it's the reality, right, Like, that's
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: that's the that's the problem in my mind. That's the
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: problem with NILS. It's not transparent like in the NFL,
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: as you guys know, if an agent would have called
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: us and been like, hey, you know what for Will Compton?
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: You know, I've got I've already got three years, you know,
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: eight million a year? You know, could you guys do
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: eight point five? And then we're like, now we can't
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: pull the trigger on that. And all of a sudden
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: we see he signs three years for four million a year,
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: and we know that agent lied to us. Then we're
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: never doing business with him again, you know. So so
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: the NFL is so transparent because you see the contracts afterwards.
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: In the NIL world, it's all kind of hidden. So yeah,
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: I I forget what you just asked me.
- 1:27:55Speaker 3: Bro the uh yeah, Nebraska.
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:27:59Speaker 4: The support of the level of support matching the expectations.
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: So my point has always been like, hey, let's let's
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: keep it all out there, let's make it, let's put
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: it all out there and say, you know, like there's
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: teams that we that we're going to face that spend
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: twenty million dollars on their football team twenty to twenty
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: five million dollars in the football team. So you know
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: a lot of people will tell me like I don't
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: believe in ANIL, and I'm like, well, it's it's not
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: something to believe in or not.
- 1:28:22Speaker 3: It's real.
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: It's here, like, it's it's what it is. So I'm
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: always like, hey, if you want us to finish first,
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: then then let's put first, like first first, and everything first,
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: coaching staff for salary pool, first, facilities first, ANIL. There's
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: a reason why in the NFL to have parody they
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: have a salary cap, and there is really no salary
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: cap in college right now. So I think we're heading
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: in the right direction. I think it's hard for some
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: people to sometimes understand, like, you know, what are we
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: doing here? To me, investing in young people's never wrong,
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: Like everyone has this thing of like, wow, kids are
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: gonna wait. You know what, I'm only where I'm at
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: in my life because people have invested in me and
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: given me opportunities. So if we can help young people
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: on our team have opportunities for name, image and lightness,
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: then I'm one hundred percent for it.
- 1:29:06Speaker 3: And if we want to win.
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: We better do it at a really high level.
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: Do you got anything else? Go ahead, No, I'm solid.
- 1:29:13Speaker 3: I wanted to talk about this.
- 1:29:15Speaker 4: I know in Temple you was what the first coach
- 1:29:18Speaker 4: to have two consecutive ten game wins since nineteen seventy nine,
- 1:29:23Speaker 4: and you talked about some of them players like and
- 1:29:27Speaker 4: are you trying to bring that mentality here to Nebraska?
- 1:29:30Speaker 3: Correct, Like that's that's what you're looking for.
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: Yeah, you know the way we played football at Temple.
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: I mean, I love Temple. I love Temple University, Temples
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: in Temples in North Philadelphia. That's a real neighborhood with
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: great people that you go to Temple. You're a tough person.
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: You grew up in a tough place. You put your
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: feet on concrete every day, you know. So we had
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: to play football that way, so like we were going
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: to hit you, we were going to strike you. We
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: kept track of like the amount of times a team
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: we played lost the next week, Like we always kept
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: track of that score. We're trying to beat you on
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: Saturday and then have you lose again next Saturday. And
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: so we played football that way and what that allows
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: us to do because we practiced that way and lifted
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: that way. You know what, we had a lot of
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: guys come in with one star recruits, no star recruits
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: who went on to play pro football, played in Canada,
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: played in the NFL because they got they got trained.
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: And when you have a team like Temple and you
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: beat Vanderbilt at Vanderbilt, you know, coming off a seven
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: win season, when you beat Penn State for the first
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: time in seventy four years, it's only because your players
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: have put put the work in. And we went to Baylor.
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: Baylor was a little different. We were a little more spread.
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: We still played good defense. When we came here, we
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: were like, where can we go that we can? But
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: people love defense, people will love special teams, people will
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: love practice. People won't think that working hard is you know,
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: is a is a punishment? You know, like like there's
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: people that paid money to go cross fit. They call
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: it CrossFit, right they do, like, this isn't punishment, this
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: is we're investing in you. Where can we go? And
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: Nebraska seemed like that. You know, they believe in the
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: run game, they believe in being physical, they believe in defense.
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: So I believe that this is like the way we
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: were at Temple, but just with way more resources and way,
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: way way more opportunities, and so that's what made this job.
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: So that's why my wife kept saying, like you need
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: to go there, like like where else are you gonna
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: go that? That's gonna play football the way you really
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: want to play it deep down inside, because deep down inside,
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: I want to play football that way. I want I
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: want the game to be nine on seven, you know.
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: So you know I love having great quarterbacks. You know
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: you've met a couple of them. I want to throw
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: the ball around and be fun, but at the end
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: of the day, I want to win the physical battle.
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: And that's why I loved my time at Temple, and
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: that's what I believe Nebraska will let us do.
- 1:31:37Speaker 4: We interrupt this episode to bring you Sam's Selects. Emmy

- 1:32:43Speaker 4: Back to the episode, I.
- 1:32:45Speaker 9: One more question. You've been from New York. How is
- 1:32:50Speaker 9: Nebraska band from New York? Like the different?
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: Yeah, no, no doubt. You know, before I took this job,
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: I wanted to come out and see it. And I
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: think it's the number one thing that happens in recruiting,
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: Like you first hear I will recruit a kid from Miami,
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: recruit kid from anywhere. And you're here in Nebraska and
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: you think, honestly, you did like Cornfield on a campus, right,
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: And remember when I was in the I was in
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: the Big twelve. You know, you go to Oklahoma State
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: and it was like a little downtown and then a
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: big stadium. So I thought it was gonna be that.
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: And my wife and I were like, I don't know
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: about that. We came here and we went down, we
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: drove around the Haymarket, we drove down O Street, and
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: I was like, this is like a city. I mean,
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: it's not a big city, but this is like a
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: big town or a small city. I was like, if
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: I can't recruit here, you know where can I recruit?
- 1:33:36Speaker 3: You know?
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: We started driving around looking at you know, the town overall.
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: I mean it's man, it's like eight or nine public
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: high schools right here in Lincoln. And then you know,
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: you drive forty minutes, forty five minutes to Omaha, and
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: Omaha is one of the coolest cities that people don't
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: know about, one of the coolest cities in the Midwest.
- 1:33:50Speaker 3: Like you come back here.
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: I don't know if you ever went to the College
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: World Series. The College World Series, I thought I was
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: in like it's like a mixture of like the NCAA
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: Final Four Marty Gras all in one. I'm like, this
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: is unbelievable and great concerts and great so so. Yeah,
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: it's not New York City, but the people here love football.
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: It's safe.
- 1:34:10Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: There's not a place in town where I'm like, my mom,
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: there's not a place here in Lincoln. I'm like, hey, guys,
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: don't go there, don't go here. It's a it's the
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: people here care about the team, they care about people.
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: It's safe, it's close to everything.
- 1:34:21Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: We're in the big ten now that goes from east
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: coast to west coast, but we only have a two
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: and a half hour flight here, a two and a
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: half hour. Other guys are gonna be swinging five six
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: hours west coast to east coast, East coast to west coast,
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: like we're in the center part of the country. A
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: quick flight to Chicago, two hour drive to Kansas City.
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: I came here and I was like, you know, Lincoln,
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: Lincoln's Lincoln's what I was kind of looking for. A
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: big city, not just a college town. It's a state
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: capitol and omahas fire. I don't care what people say.
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: It's got a great restaurants. Seen so I've really really
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: really enjoyed it. I still like going back to New
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: York City. Everyone's while getting on the subway and you know,
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: I need a little fixing. But but but I've loved
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: I've loved being able to be here and be out
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: in the in the on a farm and then be
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: downtown at a nice restaurant, you know, twenty minute difference.
- 1:35:03Speaker 4: Yeah, Dylan was talking about the Matt drills and talking
- 1:35:09Speaker 4: how serious those were. Some coaches do away with the
- 1:35:11Speaker 4: Matt drills, yep, especially in this day and age. Yeah,
- 1:35:14Speaker 4: but you got them alivea you got them alive.
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: And well, you know what's really cool for me is
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: there was like a Twitter thread and it was players
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: you know, Jarreed works for me over here, but that
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: played for us at Western Carolina, I don't know, twenty
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: years ago, and players from Temple and players from Baylor
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: and the players from here, and they were all they
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: were all making basically making fun of me, you know,
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: because I run the mat drill like it ain't like
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: I'm like and like I show up, I sit in
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: the Matt drill, I'm the first row. Like I run
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: the Matt drill. And sat who's my OC? Who has
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: been with me at Western End Temple. He's the next guy.
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: And then who did the mat drels as a player,
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: he's one of the guys. So like, if you're coaching
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: the Matt drill, if you're on the mat, like you
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: either went through it or you're you know, you're kind
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: of ou from way back when. So yeah, but to me,
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: it's a rite of passage. And we have a player
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: at m J. Sherman here. You know, he came from
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: the University of Georgia, won national championships, you know, and
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: at first was like kind of like why are we
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: doing this? Coach in a very respectful way, but struggled
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: with it, and he had an interview the other day
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: and he was like, you know what, I would ever
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: want to go through the Matt drills again, but a
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: Matt dreel mixed men will make a man out of you.
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: And yeah, you can go out there and you can
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: do you football drills only and you can run around
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: bags and all that. But like all the research, I
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: don't care if you listen to David Goggins, Jock o'
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: willink you read all the research says that our brains
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: get better, they get stronger when we do things we
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: don't want to do. We have to.
- 1:36:39Speaker 3: We have to.
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: We can't get saturated with dopamine where everything's at our
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: fingertips and you have to earn and do hard things
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: every single day, not as punishment but actually as a
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: reward for yourself. So the Matt drills, man, they're just
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: eight times the standards unbelievably high. If you don't do it,
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: we're doing it again the next morning. And when they
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: graduate and come through that, the goal is some day
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: someday we take the field and our guys look at
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: the other team and they were like, you know what,
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: there's no way you paid the same price we played.
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: There's no way you're out there for three hours in
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: the spring wak like we are. There's no way you
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: have six am meetings. There's no way you do Matt
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: drills and then do position work afterwards.
- 1:37:14Speaker 3: There's just no way.
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: And if you do, then let's have a good game.
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: And so that's we're not there yet, but we're pushing
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: it towards that. And look at dyling, five star recruit,
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: you know, quarterback, you know, should he lay out and
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: dive in the Matt drills, he gets out there he's
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: doing it. You know, he's doing it, and they will
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: eventually have a brotherhood where they all like, hey, we
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: all did it.
- 1:37:33Speaker 3: I love that. Oh how do how Nash to dominate?
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: Huh yeah, you don't want to go with the mid ball.
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: You know, and and and and In fairness, this year,
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: you know, we didn't have Nash to do anything but that.
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: You know, hey, you know it's funny with that.
- 1:37:53Speaker 3: He he he uh he uh.
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: And the one Chasing three we did that little we
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: do those little episodes, a little document and he saw
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: about wrestling and he was like his dad said yeah,
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: like he was excited to finally get back to that
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: type of training where you really push yourself. And I
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: was like, oh, so he was trying to say wrestling
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: is harder than football. He was like no, no, no,
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: but he told me he's like, coach is just And
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: our defensive staff went over and watched wrestling and they
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: came back and they were like, you know, all right,
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: we got it. Whatever, he's doing enough, And I God
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: blessed him. Like he showed up every day to match
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: chees with his cleats on, his shirt on, and I'd
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: be like standing on the side and he'd watch, but
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: he was there for his brothers, you know, Like, but
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: what he was going through was it was tough, man Like,
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: oh yeah, what he was going through was tough. You know,
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: he was losing weight and still lifting and training with
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: us and then going out and fighting for the wrestling team.
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: I mean, you know, we have three guys running track.
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: We have one guy running, one guy did wrestling. I mean,
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: we we kind of got some.
- 1:38:47Speaker 3: Multi sport afftime dunk contest fire.
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: That was I got dunk. Emitt went up to dunk
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: and he hit me in the back of the head.
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: But I was out there for him, you know. So
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: But you know what, I think that's so cool for
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: our guys, right, Like it's one thing to get a
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: bunch of publicity, like for like, you know, for your name.
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: It's anoh thing. Can you get publicity for like what
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: you do? And those guys, whether whether they're giving you
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: back to the community or they're dunking a basketball halftime, Like,
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: it's way different dunking a basketball in at the Intramural
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: Center than in front of like fifteen thousand people in
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: your heartreach jumping out of your you know.
- 1:39:19Speaker 3: But you know they look good.
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: It was they were throwing it down. Yes, FERDONI was,
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: you know, FERDONI coming off two way cls. I mean
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: that went from the foul line, you know what I mean.
- 1:39:28Speaker 3: It was.
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: It was really fun to see those guys go out
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: there and get that done.
- 1:39:31Speaker 9: Bro.
- 1:39:32Speaker 4: Well, coach O, we appreciate your time. I don't feel
- 1:39:34Speaker 4: like I had one other thing. Oh well, uh Heinrich.
- 1:39:39Speaker 4: We get a pet peeve. We asked him what he
- 1:39:41Speaker 4: loves about coaching a pet peeve about it's pet peeve?
- 1:39:45Speaker 4: Is uh what was this pet peeve?
- 1:39:47Speaker 6: Basically, you get started on something, you're like, hey, it's
- 1:39:49Speaker 6: gonna be guys, just.
- 1:39:50Speaker 4: A quick little message, quickly, two minute message. It turns
- 1:39:52Speaker 4: into like fifteen minutes and then you get the rambling
- 1:39:55Speaker 4: about some story.
- 1:39:56Speaker 3: Because you say you got to go to class. I'm
- 1:39:58Speaker 3: trying to get the class and running.
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: Text N tell them to see him the office. No,
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: it's funny because like they I can see the guys
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: imitate me, and it's like, I don't realize I do
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: some of the things I do. But like the guys
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: that bailor would imitate me. They'd be like, we're gonna
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: go here, and then I see these guys doing the
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: same invitation. I'm like, I must really do that. I
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: guess I really do that.
- 1:40:18Speaker 3: Well, Coach.
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: We appreciate your time, Nah, I appreciate you guys being
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: here though. That means a lot that you guys are.
- 1:40:22Speaker 3: Here, so so I for lett you down in Memphis,
- 1:40:25Speaker 3: you know what.
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: The fact that you're here and the fact that we
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: got the live show tonight, like that's gonna be wear
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: in the jersey.
- 1:40:32Speaker 3: If I can fit into it, you can fit in.
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: I mean, I know they had to stretch it back
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: in the day.
- 1:40:35Speaker 6: You know that would have been a different story.
- 1:40:39Speaker 3: But appreciate you
