- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:08Speaker 1: covering One Piece episodes seven sixty eight through seven seventy
- 0:16Speaker 1: the third one Riizoh of the Mist, the Ninja appears
- 0:21Speaker 1: a red stone, a guide to the One Piece and
- 0:25Speaker 1: the secret of the Land of Wano, the Kozuki family
- 0:29Speaker 1: and the Pona Glyphs. In these episodes, we are taking
- 0:35Speaker 1: a step closer to finding what will make Lufy the
- 0:40Speaker 1: King of the Pirates. I still don't know if I
- 0:43Speaker 1: believe this will ever happen, but we'll see. Welcome to
- 0:50Speaker 1: spoil Me. Welcome to the show. Everyone. I am Natasha, and.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Hello, I'm Floria.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Yay, Florian is back baby, all right, thank you for
- 1:20Speaker 1: having me. Of course. All right, so you have to
- 1:25Speaker 1: tell me what made you choose these episodes. I can
- 1:28Speaker 1: suspect why, but every time I know why, but I
- 1:32Speaker 1: want you to.
- 1:35Speaker 2: You already like call it out. It is truly like
- 1:40Speaker 2: maybe the biggest step that we ever have taken, expect
- 1:44Speaker 2: getting to the Grand Line, maybe that was like the
- 1:46Speaker 2: first huge step, but you get to the One Piece,
- 1:50Speaker 2: this feels like more con and more concrete goal in
- 1:55Speaker 2: a way, like it feels closer. It just fits closer. Yeah, yeah,
- 2:01Speaker 2: I liked it a lot. And to me, this is
- 2:05Speaker 2: even though, like you have still one hundred episodes in
- 2:09Speaker 2: front of you and it's still going bad. And to
- 2:13Speaker 2: me this feels like the beginning of the end in
- 2:16Speaker 2: a weird way, like it is set what we have
- 2:22Speaker 2: to do next. Basically.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I was not expecting honestly, the whole like
- 2:32Speaker 1: I want to find the one piece thing has never
- 2:35Speaker 1: really felt that important to me because I just understand
- 2:39Speaker 1: that this is going to be the just the driving
- 2:43Speaker 1: force for a lot of other things to happen, and
- 2:46Speaker 1: I had no problem with that, like that's fine. But
- 2:52Speaker 1: finding out that there actually is like a series of
- 2:56Speaker 1: things to collect, a series of mcguffins that we have
- 2:59Speaker 1: got to go after, I like, granted, it's probably going
- 3:08Speaker 1: to take a long time to get each of these
- 3:11Speaker 1: four things, so you've still got plenty of room to
- 3:15Speaker 1: continue doing what we've been doing, which is just the
- 3:17Speaker 1: adventures along the way, you know, But I kind of
- 3:23Speaker 1: expected for the for the progress on that front to
- 3:28Speaker 1: take even longer, which I think is just because there
- 3:31Speaker 1: are so many episodes.
- 3:33Speaker 3: You know.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Question, remind me what the name of the island is?
- 3:40Speaker 1: That the one piece is on because they say it
- 3:42Speaker 1: a few times, but I didn't have the subtitles on
- 3:44Speaker 1: and so I couldn't see how it was spelled. And
- 3:47Speaker 1: every time somebody says it, I feel like I'm mishearing it.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Rathtel tell, Yeah, excell rath Tel. So it reminds me
- 3:59Speaker 2: of raft like it's called on the water, you know.
- 4:04Speaker 1: But when did we find out that that was the
- 4:07Speaker 1: name of the island, because I remember that we found
- 4:10Speaker 1: this out, but I don't recall when it.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Was mm hmm. I think it was actually in the
- 4:17Speaker 2: beginning when we went into the grand line, there was
- 4:20Speaker 2: Laboom the whale, and there was like this old man
- 4:25Speaker 2: with him, like Crocus is his name, and he had
- 4:27Speaker 2: like a flower head kind of thing going on. I
- 4:31Speaker 2: don't know if you Ray.
- 4:32Speaker 1: I remember him. Yeah, he lived inside Lagoon.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Yeah, basically he was the one who told them that
- 4:40Speaker 2: the last island is Raftel and the gold Watcher and
- 4:45Speaker 2: was the one who went there. That's the first time
- 4:49Speaker 2: that we hear about it. Maybe later with Raleigh as well,
- 4:53Speaker 2: but yeah.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, because like I had, there's a new intro
- 5:03Speaker 1: now with the change in the arc, where our guys
- 5:09Speaker 1: telling us like the island raftel, and he says it
- 5:14Speaker 1: in such a way that it feels like you guys
- 5:16Speaker 1: know all about this already, right, And it's surprising. It
- 5:19Speaker 1: always it's always weird to me with this show. How
- 5:23Speaker 1: sometimes it will over explain a thing that I very
- 5:27Speaker 1: clearly remember and you don't have to do this, And
- 5:29Speaker 1: then there are going to be times where I'm like,
- 5:32Speaker 1: you should probably expound on that a little bit more
- 5:35Speaker 1: because I don't even remember this happening at all. And
- 5:37Speaker 1: this was one of the times where I was like
- 5:39Speaker 1: I could have stood for you to go a little
- 5:41Speaker 1: bit more in detail here on this because yeah, I
- 5:43Speaker 1: didn't remember anything.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, no completely. I feel like I don't know
- 5:53Speaker 2: why they don't include it more. But maybe they expected
- 5:57Speaker 2: to know it because it has been like we streamed,
- 6:02Speaker 2: but we streamed. They just expected to reread it the story. Maybe,
- 6:08Speaker 2: but it's they.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Always explain everything anyway, even though they know everybody rewatches
- 6:16Speaker 1: it so many times or reread you know what I mean. Like,
- 6:19Speaker 1: it's just weird. How there then there are times where
- 6:22Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, here is when I could excuse you
- 6:25Speaker 1: kind of having a whole episode dedicated to reminding us
- 6:28Speaker 1: this and you didn't do it, which just it always
- 6:31Speaker 1: surprises me. So okay, let's start from the beginning. The
- 6:39Speaker 1: third one. I don't know why, but it's just been
- 6:43Speaker 1: called the third one. It's very disrespectful, you know. It
- 6:50Speaker 1: goes on to say like rise of the miss But
- 6:52Speaker 1: at first it's just like, yeah, you know, we got
- 6:54Speaker 1: a collection of samuraiz here, this is the third one.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Whatever in trusting was kind of special and now he's like, eh.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Yeah, very much.
- 7:06Speaker 2: So right, So.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Is uh not what anybody was expecting? Honestly, no, he
- 7:18Speaker 1: was pretty much what I was expecting because like the
- 7:23Speaker 1: other samurai are such weirdos contraroau. That man is a freak.
- 7:29Speaker 1: That man is a real strange guy, like all most
- 7:35Speaker 1: feeling like a drag queen in his overall look you
- 7:41Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. And so yeah, I just kind
- 7:45Speaker 1: of figure that, like this we're meeting in Ninja, and
- 7:50Speaker 1: probably this Ninja is going.
- 7:52Speaker 3: To be.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Just as much as are of a freak. Like now,
- 7:58Speaker 1: he the way in which he was a freak was different,
- 8:01Speaker 1: Like I didn't know what to expect on that front.
- 8:04Speaker 1: But when we see like the imagination of what everybody
- 8:09Speaker 1: is preparing for I. I was watching it for a
- 8:15Speaker 1: moment thinking that was him, and I was genuinely surprised.
- 8:20Speaker 1: I was like, oh, wow, he just looks like a ninja.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Oh does he really this is I didn't expect him
- 8:27Speaker 1: to just be this guy. And then it smash cuts
- 8:31Speaker 1: to what he really looks like, and I was like, oh, okay,
- 8:34Speaker 1: now we're back unfamiliar. Yes see, Okay, that's this is
- 8:37Speaker 1: what I was expecting.
- 8:39Speaker 2: This is my one piece. Yeah, okay. I I already
- 8:45Speaker 2: kind of could say maybe about the whole Ninja thing,
- 8:50Speaker 2: like how many tropes of ninjas do you know? Do
- 8:54Speaker 2: you know any?
- 8:56Speaker 3: Well?
- 8:57Speaker 1: They recite some here that I knew meditate under a waterfall,
- 9:03Speaker 1: disappear into the shadows, or some something else. I think
- 9:08Speaker 1: they mentioned, like balancing on something. The one thing I
- 9:14Speaker 1: didn't ever hear of was saying, Ni ni, I, what
- 9:20Speaker 1: is this?
- 9:21Speaker 3: Is this like real?
- 9:23Speaker 1: Or is this the show?
- 9:25Speaker 2: I now? I kind of I feel like it's more
- 9:28Speaker 2: like a children thing, Like not they really said it,
- 9:33Speaker 2: but it kind of become a trope in outer anime,
- 9:37Speaker 2: and like just illustrations that that's what ninja's do. So
- 9:44Speaker 2: that's why, like they believe it.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Basically, Okay, okay.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Kids nowadays also believe.
- 9:51Speaker 1: It's so like I just never heard that before. And
- 9:58Speaker 1: they go so hard on this a little bit later
- 10:01Speaker 1: with him, you know, getting loofy basically is like riding
- 10:06Speaker 1: on his shoulders and just like smacking him and telling him,
- 10:09Speaker 1: like do another thing, and they keep saying me me,
- 10:11Speaker 1: And I was like, all I can think about was
- 10:14Speaker 1: Monte Python and the Holy Grail. We are the knights
- 10:17Speaker 1: who say me yeah, And so I kind of was like,
- 10:21Speaker 1: is that the joke?
- 10:22Speaker 2: Is it? Like?
- 10:23Speaker 1: Is he referencing that? But otherwise yeah, I have never
- 10:28Speaker 1: heard of this. What were your knowledge of ninja stereotypes?
- 10:36Speaker 2: Well, that's the thing, like one Piece is now you
- 10:41Speaker 2: get some animeal or one Piece was or is still
- 10:46Speaker 2: considered one of the so called Big three. The Big
- 10:50Speaker 2: three were like in the early two thousands, like the
- 10:53Speaker 2: biggest selling mangas, and one of them was One Piece,
- 10:58Speaker 2: who had Pirates. Then you had Bleach, which had Samurai
- 11:03Speaker 2: and what's kind of more edgy and darker I've heard, yeah,
- 11:09Speaker 2: and the third one is Naruto and that one has
- 11:13Speaker 2: ninjas in there, like it's all about ninjas and a
- 11:18Speaker 2: lot of these things that come up in this episode
- 11:21Speaker 2: or like with this character I know kind of from Naruto.
- 11:25Speaker 2: So I'm kind of like, I'm not sure if Oda
- 11:29Speaker 2: is referencing Naruto or Ninjas. I feel like there are
- 11:36Speaker 2: a lot of references to like this other big manga
- 11:40Speaker 2: and he's kind of like, you know, winking over there
- 11:43Speaker 2: to the other off or like a.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Is Naruto related to Dragon Ball?
- 11:53Speaker 2: Separate thing?
- 11:54Speaker 1: Okay?
- 11:55Speaker 2: It is a separate thing?
- 11:57Speaker 1: Is that the one? Because the one thing that happened
- 12:01Speaker 1: in this where I pointed the screen like Leonardo DiCaprio was,
- 12:08Speaker 1: he makes copies of himself and Lufy ketches one and
- 12:10Speaker 1: it turns into a log. And I have not seen this,
- 12:16Speaker 1: but my husband was telling me about the log thing.
- 12:20Speaker 1: I feel like he was talking about it in Dragon
- 12:23Speaker 1: Ball Z context. Does that happen in dragon Ball Z
- 12:26Speaker 1: as well? This thing where it's like, oh, you think
- 12:28Speaker 1: this is a person, but it's really a log.
- 12:32Speaker 2: It could be. I honestly, I my knowledge of Dragon
- 12:36Speaker 2: Ball Z is smaller because it has been longer for
- 12:40Speaker 2: me since I watched that. Okay, so but it could
- 12:44Speaker 2: be in there as well. I would not put past
- 12:46Speaker 2: it to be there.
- 12:49Speaker 1: I Uh, yeah, I just really he was explaining this
- 12:54Speaker 1: to me. It was not like I was not watching
- 12:58Speaker 1: the show or anything. I think that I meant something
- 13:01Speaker 1: that was happening in one piece and this crazy power
- 13:03Speaker 1: that somebody had. And he started telling me about an
- 13:07Speaker 1: infuriating thing where a person could make a log look
- 13:11Speaker 1: like them and that there was some big storyline that
- 13:14Speaker 1: got dragged out forever and then it basically resolves by
- 13:20Speaker 1: somebody turning out to have been a log the whole time,
- 13:22Speaker 1: and how it was just one of the biggest like
- 13:25Speaker 1: ripoff kind of plot lines that he had ever encountered,
- 13:28Speaker 1: and how he's still mad about it. So that embedded
- 13:31Speaker 1: itself into my mind about the log thing, and so
- 13:34Speaker 1: when it happened here, yeah, I was definitely very much like,
- 13:37Speaker 1: oh my god, it's the thing. So I'm going to
- 13:39Speaker 1: be telling him about it later that I finally encountered that.
- 13:44Speaker 1: But yeah, this is uh the We're getting ahead of
- 13:50Speaker 1: ourselves a little bit here, But yeah, I feel like
- 13:54Speaker 1: when we start this episode, the very first thing that
- 13:58Speaker 1: we see is the pirate Jack finding out that he
- 14:05Speaker 1: has been declared dead in the newspapers and getting really
- 14:08Speaker 1: mad about it, and he actually says this is bullshit.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Has how they use the word shit before? I feel
- 14:22Speaker 1: like this is the first time.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Not sure again, I feel like you have been astounded
- 14:30Speaker 2: by the language before. I remember that, but I don't
- 14:33Speaker 2: remember each What words were you used to say.
- 14:36Speaker 1: When when I very first started, when somebody was called
- 14:40Speaker 1: a bastard, I was like, oh, oh, okay, and then
- 14:44Speaker 1: somebody says son of a bitch and blah blah blah.
- 14:46Speaker 1: So it's not shocking language in and of itself, but
- 14:49Speaker 1: I was expecting this to be very much like super
- 14:52Speaker 1: PG kid friendly, you know, and so for there to
- 14:56Speaker 1: be any salts to the language at all was shocking.
- 14:59Speaker 1: But there has never been just a swear before. You know,
- 15:05Speaker 1: I guess you could call bitch a swear. I suppose.
- 15:11Speaker 2: I think me as a teacher, yes, that would be
- 15:14Speaker 2: a swear in my classroom. You have to be pretty
- 15:19Speaker 2: strict about it, even though I use it canso baby.
- 15:25Speaker 1: That's the way. So yeah, he is really mad about this,
- 15:33Speaker 1: and UH is just basically demanding of his men. I
- 15:37Speaker 1: look alive, don't I? And later on there is a
- 15:43Speaker 1: whole encounter between these ships his He has I think
- 15:48Speaker 1: five ships altogether plus the uh he winds up against
- 15:54Speaker 1: some Marines, and it was that counter is really confusing
- 16:02Speaker 1: to me because it looks like initially everybody is in
- 16:06Speaker 1: the midst of like a storm while they're firing on
- 16:11Speaker 1: each other, and then all of a sudden, the other
- 16:13Speaker 1: ship is gone and the storm is gone. And I
- 16:17Speaker 1: was like, did I misinterpret what I was watching or
- 16:19Speaker 1: is that actually what happened? And I'm supposed to be
- 16:23Speaker 1: puzzled by it?
- 16:26Speaker 2: Yeah, no, this is a flashback. Like basically, he the
- 16:31Speaker 2: timeline goes as follows. He leaves, so no do Flamingo
- 16:37Speaker 2: gets captured. He hears of it and then leaves. So
- 16:41Speaker 2: meanwhile straw heads come to sew everything happens. What happens then?
- 16:46Speaker 2: Right then we see this fight scene of him against
- 16:51Speaker 2: the Marines. And now this very first scene of the
- 16:55Speaker 2: first episode is his way back or like he's way
- 16:59Speaker 2: on the scene and he has a traumatic flashback to
- 17:04Speaker 2: I don't know, like the night before or like when
- 17:06Speaker 2: he faced off against him.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Oh okay, I was not getting that that was a flashback.
- 17:11Speaker 1: The way that was edited was different than I feel
- 17:14Speaker 1: like they usually do with a flashback. Okay, that makes.
- 17:23Speaker 2: So, yeah, we watch him yeah, we don't see a
- 17:29Speaker 2: lot of do you expect him to pop up back
- 17:32Speaker 2: up or like.
- 17:34Speaker 1: I expect him to But I've got to say I
- 17:38Speaker 1: don't find him that interesting. So not really that excited
- 17:43Speaker 1: about seeing him again. Like him turning into a mammoth
- 17:46Speaker 1: is dope, but it's almost like the the he's not
- 17:54Speaker 1: You're not dextrous. When you're a mammoth, you just can
- 17:58Speaker 1: create wholesale destruction in the way that he's like a
- 18:01Speaker 1: wrecking ball, you know. But it's not really like super
- 18:07Speaker 1: exciting to watch. And his personality is just like very basic, angry,
- 18:15Speaker 1: egotistical bad man. So yeah, I think we'll probably see
- 18:21Speaker 1: him again, but I don't care if we do. That's
- 18:25Speaker 1: where I stand with him.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Absolutely he's a bastard.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Yeah, there you go. This is this guy is definitely
- 18:32Speaker 1: a bastard. So this is when we go back to
- 18:37Speaker 1: so and we have the moment where everybody is reacting
- 18:41Speaker 1: to the fact that our friends the Samurai are actually
- 18:49Speaker 1: you know, buddies with the Minx and that there's nothing
- 18:53Speaker 1: to worry about. And it very quickly, like at first
- 18:59Speaker 1: it's really quickly like everybody's friends here, we're all on
- 19:03Speaker 1: the same side, and we were all fighting to defend
- 19:06Speaker 1: your friend. And then Dogstorm and cat Viper turn on
- 19:11Speaker 1: each other just because Dogstorm is like he was talking
- 19:15Speaker 1: to me, not you, and that's all it takes. And
- 19:19Speaker 1: these two are already preparing to beat the shit out
- 19:23Speaker 1: of each other. You both are missing limbs. Can you stop? Well,
- 19:29Speaker 1: you know, like everybody just ate a breath.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean you had, like pets get home from
- 19:36Speaker 2: the vet and you're like, you need to be still,
- 19:39Speaker 2: and they never are.
- 19:41Speaker 1: I'm dealing with that right now. Pippen has a broken
- 19:44Speaker 1: toe and he just wants to fight with his sister
- 19:48Speaker 1: and roll around on the floor with her, and he
- 19:51Speaker 1: can't do that right now, and it is, Yeah, it's
- 19:54Speaker 1: really hard these two. So this is when, first of all,
- 20:04Speaker 1: Kenamon shows his tattoo, which is the same tattoo that
- 20:11Speaker 1: the rest of the Kazuki clan has. We've seen it
- 20:16Speaker 1: upon our kings and Rhizo as well, and I cannot
- 20:20Speaker 1: help but laugh. It's a very like we zero in
- 20:24Speaker 1: on this tattoo and then it sort of fades out
- 20:27Speaker 1: to his face on the other side, and he looks
- 20:31Speaker 1: so pissed at having to show this, and I was
- 20:34Speaker 1: just like nobody made you. It's fine. I feel like
- 20:38Speaker 1: everybody pretty much believed you. But okay, Like he just
- 20:41Speaker 1: looks really angry throughout this.
- 20:45Speaker 3: And the.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Information that we find out eventually here because Dogstorm and
- 20:55Speaker 1: cat Viper are fighting like this, Momo gets up and
- 21:02Speaker 1: he yells at both of them to knock it off,
- 21:07Speaker 1: because what do you think my father would say if
- 21:10Speaker 1: he could see the two of you behaving like this?
- 21:14Speaker 1: And I had the exact reaction that I think usapas
- 21:18Speaker 1: where it's like, but your dad's right there, And it
- 21:24Speaker 1: turns out that's not as dead Kennebu lied, Yeah, they
- 21:32Speaker 1: why did you lie? You didn't need to. We could
- 21:35Speaker 1: have just rescued this little boy. It's fine, you didn't
- 21:38Speaker 1: have to go do all that.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Yeah, but he wasn't sure if you can trust him.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I guess.
- 21:47Speaker 2: So, you know, he's he's kind of like the he's
- 21:53Speaker 2: not the grins. As it turns out, he's kind of
- 21:56Speaker 2: like the I mean, by the way they use I
- 22:00Speaker 2: think daimyo and I don't like those are all fudi
- 22:07Speaker 2: still japan like old Japanese terms, or like feudalist feudalists. Yeah,
- 22:15Speaker 2: like from the old like I don't know. We maybe
- 22:18Speaker 2: would have like a count or something and they would
- 22:21Speaker 2: have made things like that. So but basically what translated
- 22:26Speaker 2: what they're saying, he his dad was the prince. So
- 22:31Speaker 2: that's like the relation that's going on there, right.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Yeah, because he says they say something at one point
- 22:38Speaker 1: about like the king is under him, and I'm like,
- 22:40Speaker 1: but he's just a lord. And then I realized, oh,
- 22:42Speaker 1: I don't even know how this structure works. I would
- 22:47Speaker 1: think that a king would be above a lord because
- 22:49Speaker 1: of the way it works in like Europe, but that's
- 22:53Speaker 1: not necessarily how it goes here, and I.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Mean it, it is a little bit more complicated than
- 22:59Speaker 2: I just summed it up, so I'm not an expert,
- 23:03Speaker 2: but just to get a reference on what hierarchy they're
- 23:09Speaker 2: in or he is basically.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I really like enjoy this twist because he's,
- 23:18Speaker 1: you know, nothing against you, momonosque momenosk is How am
- 23:23Speaker 1: I saying that?
- 23:24Speaker 2: Right? Yeah?
- 23:32Speaker 1: He's fine as a character, but I haven't really liked
- 23:39Speaker 1: him that much because one, he hasn't done all that
- 23:44Speaker 1: much except like get cranky about stuff, and then when
- 23:48Speaker 1: he's not doing that, he's burying his face in Nami's boobs,
- 23:51Speaker 1: but she does quite a bit in this section also,
- 23:55Speaker 1: so frankly, I could take her leave this kid, but
- 23:58Speaker 1: I like that there's like an additional plot point of interest,
- 24:02Speaker 1: making him a bit more important because he needed something, you.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Know what I mean?
- 24:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean in general, the summarize needed something because
- 24:14Speaker 2: it was kind of like we helped you and basically like,
- 24:18Speaker 2: all of so, what's kind of what are you really
- 24:21Speaker 2: doing here? Of course they kinemon safe conjurer, but it
- 24:27Speaker 2: is still kind of like what are you doing here? Basically? Yeah, definitely,
- 24:33Speaker 2: and now we finally get to the meat and potatoes.
- 24:37Speaker 1: It seems like, yeah, so this uh this reveal. It
- 24:45Speaker 1: takes a little while, as things so often do in this,
- 24:49Speaker 1: but it results in maybe my favorite ongoing feud that
- 24:56Speaker 1: we're gonna get now, which is that Loofy cannot take
- 24:59Speaker 1: this little kid throwing his weight around and just keeps
- 25:03Speaker 1: getting pissed at him telling people what to do, and
- 25:06Speaker 1: this little kid yelling at Louviy to like bow down
- 25:09Speaker 1: before him, And I love this. I love this. This
- 25:14Speaker 1: is such a weird look. Loofy gets mad at so
- 25:20Speaker 1: few things, you know, Yeah, nothing tends to phase him.
- 25:25Speaker 1: So when we find something that really gets under his
- 25:28Speaker 1: skin like this, I just think it's very fun. He's
- 25:32Speaker 1: so angry and he's so like what's the word I
- 25:37Speaker 1: want here? He just feels bitter in a way that
- 25:43Speaker 1: I don't sense from him almost ever. And since I
- 25:47Speaker 1: didn't really like this kid that much, it's sort of
- 25:50Speaker 1: giving like a little outlet for me as a viewer
- 25:53Speaker 1: of like, yeah, kick is ass loofy good, thank you,
- 25:56Speaker 1: this little brat, you know.
- 26:00Speaker 3: It?
- 26:01Speaker 2: I see, how do you feel about this? I am?
- 26:08Speaker 2: You know, up to this point, as I said before,
- 26:11Speaker 2: to me, there were kind of like not nothing characters.
- 26:15Speaker 2: We had way worse in the past, but it was
- 26:21Speaker 2: just not that invested yet. This made me inval like
- 26:26Speaker 2: when this arose, I was like, there it is, you know,
- 26:29Speaker 2: like it was kind of like waiting for it. Yea
- 26:32Speaker 2: and and Momlezuke in particular, I first like it did
- 26:38Speaker 2: not quite like him because of the whole boop swing
- 26:42Speaker 2: which happens here. But Nami is kind of like, so
- 26:45Speaker 2: you're a prince you yeah, nown.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Me feels like she's at least got a little bit
- 26:50Speaker 1: more agency and understanding of it, and she's like using it.
- 26:54Speaker 1: So I feel different about it this time.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Yeah, but you know, he's kind of a little rascaled.
- 27:01Speaker 2: But then again, he is a kid, you know, so
- 27:08Speaker 2: and when I compare him to outer kids in auto shows,
- 27:12Speaker 2: I'm kind of like, Okay, we could have way worse.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Look, this is it's an unfair metric though, to just
- 27:21Speaker 1: be like in comparison to other kid characters, I mean,
- 27:24Speaker 1: you're not wrong, but also, kid characters don't have to
- 27:28Speaker 1: suck everybody, you know, Like, we don't have to live
- 27:32Speaker 1: like this, but we just sort of phone it in.
- 27:36Speaker 1: It seems like it's weird because like what often happens
- 27:42Speaker 1: not necessarily here, but like in general, and I'll say
- 27:46Speaker 1: it mostly I would say that this is true in television.
- 27:51Speaker 1: It happens in books some, but I don't find it
- 27:53Speaker 1: quite as frustrating in books because you aren't relying on
- 27:56Speaker 1: some little child to act, So you can make your
- 28:00Speaker 1: kid in your book cuter much more easily then you
- 28:04Speaker 1: can make an actor on screen charm you, you know.
- 28:09Speaker 1: But I feel like what's so weird is that oftentimes
- 28:13Speaker 1: when they add a kid into the situation, they're trying
- 28:15Speaker 1: to up the stakes and they're trying to make it
- 28:18Speaker 1: like Oh, well, now there's a child that might get hurt,
- 28:22Speaker 1: and don't you care more because they're an innocent And
- 28:27Speaker 1: it's like, no, I already cared because there were people
- 28:32Speaker 1: here that I liked, and you've thrown in a factor
- 28:37Speaker 1: that's actively annoying actually, and a part of me kind
- 28:40Speaker 1: of wants him to die just so that I don't
- 28:42Speaker 1: have to deal with him anymore because I don't like him.
- 28:45Speaker 1: So it winds up sort of backfiring sometimes where they're like,
- 28:48Speaker 1: you're supposed to be rooting for them to save that
- 28:51Speaker 1: little boy, and I'm like, fuck that kid whatever. He's
- 28:54Speaker 1: been dragging this whole series down ever since you brought
- 28:57Speaker 1: him in, Like, let's take care of him. It's fine.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Like I said, I'm not saying.
- 29:02Speaker 2: That but Walking Dead, but maybe I'm just speculating me.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Let's move on.
- 29:15Speaker 1: For those who aren't watching this in real time, I
- 29:18Speaker 1: got a very called out expression on my face because
- 29:21Speaker 1: Walking Dead was literally what I was thinking of.
- 29:24Speaker 2: But we won't. We won't talk.
- 29:25Speaker 1: About that now, yes, but but good catch there, Florian.
- 29:29Speaker 2: You were not wrong, Thank you, Thank you. The cat
- 29:33Speaker 2: at the dog they make up basically, or like they
- 29:37Speaker 2: at least agree to stop fighting. That's what we can.
- 29:42Speaker 1: They're basically just like shaved into it, like, ah, he's right,
- 29:46Speaker 1: his dad would be.
- 29:47Speaker 2: So pissed, And I find it like really cute. But
- 29:51Speaker 2: also this I like. I like Cat Viper a lot,
- 29:55Speaker 2: and dog Storm I also like him, but Cat Viper
- 29:58Speaker 2: is just awesome. But this, when I saw, like how
- 30:02Speaker 2: the townspeople are so happy, I'm just like, you two
- 30:07Speaker 2: are assholes, Like, yeah, you see how everybody is happy
- 30:10Speaker 2: about this? You could have done these years ago. I mean,
- 30:16Speaker 2: it's it's real. It's a great moment, but it's bitter
- 30:20Speaker 2: in a way, like we're like, hmm, that's very.
- 30:23Speaker 1: I didn't really think of it that way. But you're right,
- 30:26Speaker 1: like they've been dealing with this for what how long?
- 30:29Speaker 1: Years and years right at this point.
- 30:32Speaker 2: I don't know that. I don't know the exact timeline,
- 30:34Speaker 2: but years.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, so yeah, you're right. They're like you, guys,
- 30:40Speaker 1: all you had to do was be yelled at by
- 30:42Speaker 1: the right person and you just set all of this aside.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Really yeah, it's I guess that is how it can
- 30:52Speaker 1: be sometimes, where if the right person says it to
- 30:54Speaker 1: you and they phrase it the right way, you can
- 30:57Speaker 1: suddenly realize what a dick you're being in a way
- 31:00Speaker 1: that nobody else was quite able to get through to you.
- 31:03Speaker 1: So I suppose it's just hard for me because, like,
- 31:06Speaker 1: I think, part of the disconnect here is what almost
- 31:11Speaker 1: dad means to them, and I don't fully understand that
- 31:15Speaker 1: that relationship yet, you know, I don't really get like
- 31:19Speaker 1: totally what's happening here yet. So it definitely was sort
- 31:23Speaker 1: of like, is it supposed to be just that a
- 31:27Speaker 1: little kid has pointed out that you're being childish and
- 31:31Speaker 1: that's a bridge too far, which would have been fine,
- 31:35Speaker 1: but what it winds up being, I feel like invoking
- 31:39Speaker 1: his father's memory I guess makes more sense. But yeah,
- 31:43Speaker 1: it's just like you've made everybody miserable with your fucking
- 31:47Speaker 1: attitudes this entire time and splitting things up the way
- 31:51Speaker 1: that you have, and it didn't have to be this way,
- 31:53Speaker 1: and you could have just shut the fuck up and
- 31:56Speaker 1: sucked it up, Like wow, way to waste everyone's time. Thanks.
- 32:01Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I realized rewatching it yesterday. I was
- 32:07Speaker 2: kind of like, oh, yeah, I also have to mention
- 32:12Speaker 2: that Almo's face when he yells at them is really funny.
- 32:16Speaker 1: He gets this like this, the frown is so extreme,
- 32:22Speaker 1: and he's got that thing that they do when somebody's
- 32:24Speaker 1: really mad where it's just a shadow where their eyes
- 32:27Speaker 1: should be and you can't even see the whites of
- 32:29Speaker 1: their eyes or anything. And yeah, so this is when
- 32:34Speaker 1: we get the reveal that he is the Air and
- 32:39Speaker 1: everybody is very surprised. Nami is interested in how much
- 32:45Speaker 1: money he may have access to, and and let's see
- 32:50Speaker 1: what happens after this, because like eventually they make up,
- 32:54Speaker 1: and is that like almost the end of the episode,
- 32:56Speaker 1: we just have them then going to the tree in
- 33:01Speaker 1: the center of everything, is it? No, they're going. They
- 33:06Speaker 1: then encounter Riso, who is chained up because they didn't
- 33:13Speaker 1: want him to go out there and try and face
- 33:17Speaker 1: the pirates who were searching for him.
- 33:19Speaker 2: Right yeah, yeah, because they wanted to keep him hidden,
- 33:24Speaker 2: but he of course wouldn't, like as we find out
- 33:29Speaker 2: last episode, they're like great friends and he's like, no,
- 33:32Speaker 2: when you're fighting, I want to fight, and they're like no, no, no, no,
- 33:35Speaker 2: Like basically they had to do what they sometimes need
- 33:39Speaker 2: to do with Loofy or should do with Louvie and
- 33:41Speaker 2: be like hmm, no fighting, right, yeah.
- 33:46Speaker 1: I feel like maybe our friends should like get some
- 33:49Speaker 1: sa prism stone handcuffs just to have around to manage him,
- 33:54Speaker 1: because just trying to be like, hey, loofy, stay here,
- 33:57Speaker 1: don't do you know, it's obviously not working. Kids. If
- 34:02Speaker 1: you really want to keep him in place, you're gonna
- 34:04Speaker 1: have to take some drastic measures. So yeah, and yeah,
- 34:11Speaker 1: we sorry.
- 34:12Speaker 2: Go ahead, you know, I mean, did you did you
- 34:15Speaker 2: clock that it was rap or did you clock in
- 34:19Speaker 2: general that this was a pond lip? And did you
- 34:21Speaker 2: clock that it was red pondly?
- 34:26Speaker 1: Not at all? Not even a little bit. Like eventually,
- 34:30Speaker 1: when it's revealed, I was confused and I was like, wait,
- 34:33Speaker 1: they chained him to that, that's what it was. It
- 34:36Speaker 1: was just sort of a like, I'm not mad at it.
- 34:39Speaker 1: It's very practical to do that, you know, but I
- 34:42Speaker 1: definitely was sort of these have been treated with such
- 34:45Speaker 1: reference to just behave like it's just a pillar in
- 34:48Speaker 1: a building. Felt very odd to me.
- 34:52Speaker 2: It's fair, and.
- 34:54Speaker 1: It's it's also like a very striking background for him,
- 34:58Speaker 1: because it's like, I the Ponic glyphs are so few
- 35:03Speaker 1: and far between, and I've never seen The whole point
- 35:07Speaker 1: is we've never seen a red one. So I was
- 35:11Speaker 1: just taking it as like a decorative wall in this
- 35:15Speaker 1: certain area or something, you know what I mean, I wasn't.
- 35:18Speaker 1: I don't think that in a vacuum, if it's a
- 35:22Speaker 1: totally different color, that I would ever think it was
- 35:25Speaker 1: a ponent glyph, the like the same kind of thing,
- 35:28Speaker 1: you know. So yeah, it's uh, it was definitely a surprise.
- 35:36Speaker 1: He's so weird looking, guys, it's very funny. So he's
- 35:43Speaker 1: got I don't even know what to you, guys, know,
- 35:48Speaker 1: I tend to like try and describe. I don't even know.
- 35:53Speaker 1: He's got sort of six fingers of hair that sticks
- 35:58Speaker 1: stick out from his head. I don't they don't even
- 36:00Speaker 1: look like dreadlocks like that's not I think they're meant
- 36:04Speaker 1: to be. But they don't sit like dreadlocks would sit.
- 36:08Speaker 1: He's got a crescent moon in his forehead that I
- 36:10Speaker 1: don't know if that's like part of a costume or
- 36:12Speaker 1: if that's just supposed to be part of his body.
- 36:16Speaker 1: His sleeves flare out above his shoulders.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Was that I think it's a scar like the moon thing,
- 36:25Speaker 2: but I'm quite certain about it.
- 36:28Speaker 1: It's yellow.
- 36:32Speaker 2: I mean, he can maybe he painted it or put
- 36:36Speaker 2: some tatoo artists to work. I don't know.
- 36:41Speaker 3: That.
- 36:42Speaker 1: I will not accept that if that's it, And everybody,
- 36:46Speaker 1: I want you to know right now, if that turns
- 36:48Speaker 1: out to be what it is, No, I don't think
- 36:52Speaker 1: so that's that. Better be jewelry or I don't know what,
- 36:57Speaker 1: but oh my god, it better not be Florian. I'm
- 37:01Speaker 1: so mad right now. He's got these like kind of
- 37:07Speaker 1: puffy purple trim that like comes out up above his
- 37:11Speaker 1: shoulders and then also down his front. He is, you know,
- 37:16Speaker 1: all of that. Plus he's got the really big, square,
- 37:22Speaker 1: extreme jawline plus extremely sticky out cheekbones that remind me
- 37:30Speaker 1: of what's his name, the the drag queen. Oh my god,
- 37:39Speaker 1: thank you. But yeah, he looks like there's his body
- 37:48Speaker 1: is out of proportion to his head in a way
- 37:52Speaker 1: that doesn't happen too often in this show. We do
- 37:54Speaker 1: have characters occasionally that this will happen, but it's Ivankov
- 38:00Speaker 1: is the one that it's the most extreme. For sure.
- 38:04Speaker 1: I feel like and I think I would put him
- 38:06Speaker 1: in maybe second place because his head is almost the
- 38:10Speaker 1: size of his torso it's certainly not like he resembles
- 38:15Speaker 1: the other the I keep saying the other two because
- 38:18Speaker 1: they call this the third one. But he's not a samurai.
- 38:23Speaker 1: He's a ninja, right, so he's not really the third one.
- 38:29Speaker 2: Mm hmm it is yeah, no, no, he's a ninja.
- 38:34Speaker 2: But sometimes they do refer like if they refer to
- 38:39Speaker 2: them as a group, then there are the Samurais, you know,
- 38:44Speaker 2: so he gets kind of like crusted into them because
- 38:47Speaker 2: they're the Samurais and the ninja. They're just like the Samurais.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Okay, that's what I was doing too, and I couldn't
- 38:54Speaker 1: remember if like, is that acceptable or not? Okay, Yeah,
- 38:59Speaker 1: it's just such a weird Uh. The whole look of
- 39:03Speaker 1: him is such a departure, and like, you know, I
- 39:09Speaker 1: get what we're doing thematically with condureau he looks crazy,
- 39:17Speaker 1: but I get that there's like a theme there, but uh,
- 39:20Speaker 1: this guy, I don't see a theme. There's nothing that
- 39:23Speaker 1: I'm detecting. Really. That's like tying it all together because
- 39:27Speaker 1: he's also got like an orange and blue polka dot thing,
- 39:30Speaker 1: and then there's like an undershirt sort of part that
- 39:33Speaker 1: almost looks like fish scales. So I have no idea
- 39:38Speaker 1: what the inspiration for this outfit is.
- 39:42Speaker 2: I think just Oda had like a really good trip.
- 39:45Speaker 3: And.
- 39:48Speaker 1: Honestly, that feels like so much of this series Oda
- 39:54Speaker 1: was tripping, or Oda had a bad dream, or you
- 39:58Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Like, yeah, so he is delighted
- 40:07Speaker 1: to see them. They release him, and we have this
- 40:11Speaker 1: moment where Robin is clocking that this is a ponent glyph.
- 40:16Speaker 1: But first what we need to do is deal with
- 40:19Speaker 1: how much everybody wants to see him do Ninja stuff.
- 40:25Speaker 2: Yeah, and every boy loves Ninja's.
- 40:30Speaker 1: I feel like this is true, right.
- 40:34Speaker 2: I would Yeah, I mean, I would subscribe to that
- 40:40Speaker 2: because I feel like it has interesting in love. I
- 40:45Speaker 2: was thinking, like I was a gay kid. I'm still
- 40:47Speaker 2: a gay kid, hi in my heart, I mean, And yeah, no,
- 40:54Speaker 2: Ninja's I feel like he can be enjoyed. You know,
- 40:57Speaker 2: like you have like this stealthy, sleek kind of mm
- 41:00Speaker 2: hmm you know which, and you also have like the
- 41:02Speaker 2: killing power for the streets, right right right.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Yeah, you gotta have the macho aspects.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Yeah, but no, if you like it works, it works
- 41:14Speaker 2: for a lot of boys, I would say.
- 41:15Speaker 3: So.
- 41:17Speaker 1: I uh, personally, as a kid, was never super into Ninja's,
- 41:23Speaker 1: but I think it was just the type of content
- 41:27Speaker 1: that I consumed. I think that if I had been
- 41:30Speaker 1: somebody that was introduced to enough stuff when I was younger,
- 41:34Speaker 1: that would have caught my fancy. And I'm trying to
- 41:39Speaker 1: think if there was anything like sort of superhero ish
- 41:42Speaker 1: or superpower ish or just you know, and I can't
- 41:45Speaker 1: think of anything like that, and I'm sure I'm missing something,
- 41:49Speaker 1: but yeah, no, Ninjas just really on my radar too much.
- 41:56Speaker 1: I the only you know what, the one exception being
- 42:00Speaker 1: the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I was pretty into the
- 42:03Speaker 1: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I was a big fan of
- 42:08Speaker 1: whichever one is the orange one, who's funny? Who I
- 42:11Speaker 1: think is Michelangelo, but I can't remember if I'm right
- 42:13Speaker 1: about that, but he is. I'm always like a sucker
- 42:16Speaker 1: for the class clown and he's the funny one. So
- 42:18Speaker 1: I was always just like, what's up.
- 42:21Speaker 2: Yeah, no, they're great, but I cannot tell you which
- 42:24Speaker 2: one is which I know, yeah, after artists, but after that.
- 42:30Speaker 1: I remember that the red one is Raphael. I'm pretty
- 42:33Speaker 1: sure the blue one is Donna Tello. Maybe they were'te
- 42:37Speaker 1: one well, I don't remember anyway, does not matter. Sorry, everybody, yeah,
- 42:45Speaker 1: and he tries to be like, this isn't a party trick.
- 42:49Speaker 1: I'm not going to perform for you. And it is
- 42:52Speaker 1: so funny how easy it is to peer pressure him,
- 42:57Speaker 1: because everybody comes up with it like a thing that
- 43:01Speaker 1: they want to see from him. Specifically, even Law and
- 43:06Speaker 1: Zorro get in on this moment where they're just like, well,
- 43:09Speaker 1: can you do this thing? I didn't expect them to
- 43:12Speaker 1: be participating at all, and I enjoyed that they were
- 43:16Speaker 1: all included when we have the slow pan to everybody's
- 43:20Speaker 1: very disappointed faces because they also apparently like got their
- 43:24Speaker 1: hopes up about it too.
- 43:27Speaker 2: That is the funniest shit to me, Like sometimes when
- 43:29Speaker 2: it's just when sorrow is included in a joke like this,
- 43:34Speaker 2: it's always so funny sometimes even growing like you know,
- 43:37Speaker 2: even where I occasion robbing will be included and then
- 43:39Speaker 2: I will lose my shit. I will Yeah, No, it
- 43:46Speaker 2: is I find it funny, like he does us all
- 43:50Speaker 2: his tricks, or like even in the beginning he says
- 43:52Speaker 2: something like invisible to the ladies and invincible in battle,
- 43:57Speaker 2: and that line got me hollering, I don't know.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Oh my god, I didn't even catch that. That is
- 44:03Speaker 1: so that is wild invisible to the ladies. Yes, wow,
- 44:11Speaker 1: how dude, damn? Oh yeah, I think that's because like
- 44:17Speaker 1: he says something about how his physique doesn't do him
- 44:21Speaker 1: any favors or something. Okay, yeah, that I'm remembering this now.
- 44:26Speaker 1: And yeah, so, like he starts off with the whole like,
- 44:29Speaker 1: don't you thrust your ninja stereotypes on me? And then
- 44:33Speaker 1: he sees how the reft they all are at the
- 44:38Speaker 1: fact that he is just refusing to participate in this,
- 44:41Speaker 1: and finally it's like, okay, fine, and he does a
- 44:46Speaker 1: bunch of stuff. He does like a smoke bomb, disappear
- 44:50Speaker 1: and reappear, he multiplies himself using logs. I'm sure there's
- 44:58Speaker 1: like a couple other things on missing those are the
- 45:00Speaker 1: two that really stand out to me.
- 45:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it does a lot. He puts on the show, and.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Later on USAP makes fun of him for that and
- 45:10Speaker 1: he's mad about it, but like he's right though, dude,
- 45:14Speaker 1: it's fine.
- 45:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:19Speaker 1: So after this is when we start to get a
- 45:23Speaker 1: little bit more into the Pony glyph and what it means,
- 45:29Speaker 1: and we get the drop of the major bombshell at
- 45:34Speaker 1: the end of the second episode that this will tell
- 45:38Speaker 1: you how to get to the island, and he doesn't
- 45:43Speaker 1: explain right away that this is one of four. He
- 45:47Speaker 1: tells them that first and then starts to explain there's
- 45:51Speaker 1: four more, and of course Lufy assumes this means that
- 45:54Speaker 1: there's four islands and therefore four to one pieces.
- 46:00Speaker 2: Of courts.
- 46:01Speaker 1: Lffy tune in, baby, where are you? Where'd you go?
- 46:06Speaker 2: That was he just heard one piece and was out
- 46:10Speaker 2: of the immagination land. Yah know, I find this like really,
- 46:19Speaker 2: I mean, it's Pirates, it is x Marx the spot,
- 46:22Speaker 2: and I just love it that we have it like
- 46:26Speaker 2: so traditional but at the same time so kind of
- 46:29Speaker 2: like interesting. Still in my opinion, I liked it. I
- 46:33Speaker 2: liked it a lot.
- 46:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm look, I am always. I know that mcguffin's
- 46:41Speaker 1: get made fun of a lot, and like rightfully, so
- 46:44Speaker 1: they can definitely be something that is leaned on a
- 46:47Speaker 1: little bit too much. I won't talk about Rise of
- 46:50Speaker 1: Skywalker again, but you guys know that's an example of like,
- 46:56Speaker 1: you have an entire universe that you could have played
- 46:58Speaker 1: with well loved characters, and you decided to go with
- 47:01Speaker 1: a mcguffin story for this, really, like you could have
- 47:03Speaker 1: done anything that's different. This is a long running series
- 47:09Speaker 1: where we know we're not heading straight for the thing.
- 47:13Speaker 1: We know that it's going to be a process, and
- 47:16Speaker 1: that's the point of it, you know. So it feels
- 47:20Speaker 1: very different here. And I am a sucker for this
- 47:25Speaker 1: kind of thing, especially when there's like puzzles that you
- 47:27Speaker 1: need to solve, or you know, when you get somewhere
- 47:32Speaker 1: that you thought it was going to be and it
- 47:33Speaker 1: turns out somebody else got it first and then you
- 47:36Speaker 1: have to find out where they went with it. I
- 47:39Speaker 1: love that kind of thing. I don't think that's necessarily
- 47:41Speaker 1: going to be an issue because, as it's pointed out later,
- 47:44Speaker 1: these bitches are very big, so it's not like you
- 47:48Speaker 1: could just pick it up and put it in your pocket.
- 47:50Speaker 1: They the advice that they are given is to do
- 47:54Speaker 1: a rubbing of the the side of the pony glyph
- 47:58Speaker 1: so that they can get a copy of it, which
- 48:04Speaker 1: eventually us up comes up with a plan of just
- 48:08Speaker 1: like we'll sneak in there and get the rubbing and
- 48:10Speaker 1: then we don't have to deal with anybody, And Lufy
- 48:16Speaker 1: is so bummed out at this idea. It is very funny.
- 48:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I like that a lot.
- 48:23Speaker 1: Yeah, it is agreed.
- 48:24Speaker 2: The height of those two characters against blondy Eachella. Of course.
- 48:31Speaker 1: This, yeah, this is like the the whole vibe of
- 48:43Speaker 1: us up wanting to do. I talked about this in
- 48:46Speaker 1: the episode I recorded before this, I recorded on Dungeon
- 48:51Speaker 1: Crawler Carl. Have you read any of that, Florian.
- 48:55Speaker 2: No, But I am intrigued by the title alone, honestly.
- 49:00Speaker 1: Yeah, Dungeon Crawler Carl is the premise is our world
- 49:06Speaker 1: is flattened and turned into a reality TV show for aliens,
- 49:13Speaker 1: and we are all forced to play through these dungeons
- 49:17Speaker 1: as if we were in a video game. And but
- 49:21Speaker 1: it's like real stakes, it's real life, you know. So
- 49:27Speaker 1: the the say that I was bringing up in that
- 49:31Speaker 1: is how I have often when I'm playing video games,
- 49:36Speaker 1: I've wanted to play the stealth character, but I don't.
- 49:43Speaker 1: I have such anxiety that it's almost better for me
- 49:48Speaker 1: to play the tank characters, even though I don't like combat.
- 49:53Speaker 1: It bothers me in games sometimes because I get so
- 49:56Speaker 1: freaked out. At least I can go in, I can
- 50:00Speaker 1: fucking smash my buttons and then like power through it.
- 50:04Speaker 1: Whereas stealth it's like this, it's very anxious. It's slow.
- 50:09Speaker 1: There's like this agonizing sort of sense to it, you know.
- 50:13Speaker 1: So a part of me understood where usup was coming from,
- 50:17Speaker 1: and another part of me was like, us up, I
- 50:19Speaker 1: feel like you are going to have so many opportunities
- 50:22Speaker 1: to have a complete meltdown if we do it your way,
- 50:25Speaker 1: Because anybody takes a step in the wrong direction, or
- 50:29Speaker 1: anything that you thought was gonna happen a certain way
- 50:32Speaker 1: doesn't happen that way. You were going to lose your shit, dude,
- 50:35Speaker 1: because he loses it instantly over anything. Just let Loofy
- 50:41Speaker 1: punch his way through to the Pono glyph. Just let
- 50:44Speaker 1: him go, let him do it, you know.
- 50:47Speaker 2: Yeah, send him in with a couple other days. Yeah right,
- 50:51Speaker 2: well yeah yeah, But but it was still I mean,
- 50:56Speaker 2: as we learn, like what inspired this whole talk is therefore,
- 51:01Speaker 2: and one of them is with Kaido and the other
- 51:06Speaker 2: one is with Big momm and so they talk about this, Okay,
- 51:11Speaker 2: we want to get to Sanji, and we also now
- 51:14Speaker 2: have this other goal of getting to this to this
- 51:17Speaker 2: pondic glyph, and yeah, that's why it is like, let's
- 51:23Speaker 2: sneak in. But of course he is not a fan
- 51:26Speaker 2: of that. It is to me, I find it okay,
- 51:33Speaker 2: just mathematically speaking, because I like math. Hello, yeah, I
- 51:39Speaker 2: love how like you got defensive immediately.
- 51:42Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I know that's weird. I don't want to hear.
- 51:44Speaker 2: It, I know, but actually it is true. When you
- 51:48Speaker 2: have a map and you only have three points, you
- 51:51Speaker 2: need all four points to make a cross like like
- 51:54Speaker 2: two because depending on where the fourth point is, it
- 51:59Speaker 2: is possible. And I had once to do like the
- 52:04Speaker 2: mathematical what's it called like thing related to that. So
- 52:07Speaker 2: that's why I know that, and I know I'm I
- 52:13Speaker 2: want to hear like your theory. Do you think like
- 52:15Speaker 2: the middle of this cross? Do you have an idea
- 52:19Speaker 2: where that could land? Oh god, it just the end
- 52:22Speaker 2: of at the end of the Grand line. Will it
- 52:25Speaker 2: be an island that we have been to? Will it
- 52:27Speaker 2: be something completely new?
- 52:32Speaker 1: It never even occurred to me at someplace that we've
- 52:34Speaker 1: been already. If it is, I'll be kind of mad
- 52:37Speaker 1: about it. I want it to be a new place.
- 52:39Speaker 1: I want it to be Like you know, I would
- 52:42Speaker 1: sort of prefer that it not be the end of
- 52:44Speaker 1: the Grand Line, because it feels so if it's just
- 52:50Speaker 1: about getting to the end and it's at the end
- 52:53Speaker 1: of the you know, it feels very like simplistic. I
- 53:01Speaker 1: you know what I would kind of like, and it
- 53:02Speaker 1: wouldn't work because this doesn't make sense with like the
- 53:04Speaker 1: way that these pony glyphs are supposed to function, but
- 53:07Speaker 1: the fact that, like we have an island that's literally
- 53:10Speaker 1: an elephant walking around. I wouldn't be mad if the
- 53:15Speaker 1: One Piece were on an island that moves around, you know,
- 53:19Speaker 1: I think that would be kind of fun. But I
- 53:27Speaker 1: I'm trying to think, like, Okay, so here's what I
- 53:32Speaker 1: would want if I were gonna get exactly. What I
- 53:34Speaker 1: would like is for the One Piece to be on
- 53:37Speaker 1: an island we've never been to before that is not
- 53:41Speaker 1: at just at the end of the grand line. It's
- 53:43Speaker 1: like out there in the mix, and it's a whole
- 53:45Speaker 1: thing to get there. And I would like for that
- 53:49Speaker 1: island to be an Indiana Jones style setup of like
- 53:54Speaker 1: traps and obstacle course style, like you know what I'm saying.
- 54:02Speaker 1: And I would wit for there to be an obstacle
- 54:05Speaker 1: that specifically speaks to the skill set of each of
- 54:10Speaker 1: our friends for them to work their way through.
- 54:14Speaker 2: You know, I love that. That sounds awesome.
- 54:17Speaker 1: Maybe I'm trying to think because like Oosoup's whole thing
- 54:20Speaker 1: is being the sniper king. So yeah, we can have
- 54:23Speaker 1: something where you have to shoot something from afar and
- 54:25Speaker 1: it triggers something. Obviously, Zoral will just fight with a blade.
- 54:30Speaker 1: We don't have Sanji right now. I hope we get
- 54:32Speaker 1: him back and then he can kick something, not me.
- 54:36Speaker 1: Maybe we need water to activate something, and so she
- 54:39Speaker 1: has to summon you know, the clouds or I don't know. Uh,
- 54:45Speaker 1: it has to be harder than I'm making it sound.
- 54:48Speaker 1: It doesn't like you know.
- 54:50Speaker 2: But we get the base idea, you know. I mean
- 54:55Speaker 2: robbing of course will be the guide and like reading
- 54:57Speaker 2: the ruins and be like, oh hey we have to
- 54:59Speaker 2: go left now right, and you know she can do that.
- 55:03Speaker 2: Frankie can maybe build something for us, like a bridge,
- 55:07Speaker 2: I don't yeah, music puzzle for Brooke, like we can
- 55:11Speaker 2: get it all in there.
- 55:12Speaker 1: I'm trying to think what we would do with Chopper,
- 55:14Speaker 1: because I love my baby, but he doesn't have the
- 55:17Speaker 1: best skill set for like something like this.
- 55:22Speaker 2: I don't know, like it could be. I mean, if
- 55:25Speaker 2: we go full fantasy, it could be like mixing a
- 55:29Speaker 2: potion or something, you know.
- 55:32Speaker 1: Okay, I like that idea, or.
- 55:36Speaker 2: Like, there's like this weird plant that poisons people and
- 55:39Speaker 2: he figures out how to get through them without them dying,
- 55:42Speaker 2: basically something something like that.
- 55:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I like that idea. There's or maybe there's like
- 55:48Speaker 1: you know, these poisoned darts, but I figured out the
- 55:50Speaker 1: antidote so the poison won't harm you, and we can
- 55:53Speaker 1: walk through and get hit and it doesn't matter. It's
- 55:56Speaker 1: so funny because you went to this idea and the
- 55:58Speaker 1: first idea that I had in my head was that
- 56:03Speaker 1: game operation where you have to take the bones out
- 56:06Speaker 1: of the patient without touching the sides.
- 56:11Speaker 2: I mean, they would also be great. I would also
- 56:13Speaker 2: be down for that. It would be super hard than Highlights.
- 56:17Speaker 1: Or maybe that doesn't exactly take medical skill, but perhaps
- 56:20Speaker 1: it could be reassembling a skeleton and he, you know,
- 56:23Speaker 1: he has the knowledge of biology where he would be
- 56:26Speaker 1: able to do that somehow. But yeah, we could get
- 56:31Speaker 1: the whole gang involved. I think that would be fun.
- 56:33Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I hear you, and I'm down for that.
- 56:39Speaker 2: That sounds like a lot of fun. I'm also like
- 56:45Speaker 2: The Last Island. I still like it that there is
- 56:49Speaker 2: like this mystery around it. We get to hear like
- 56:52Speaker 2: the jumping too far ahead, but basically also hear that
- 56:56Speaker 2: momost that also ended up on the island at the
- 56:59Speaker 2: very end and of the third episode, think that he
- 57:03Speaker 2: was with Roger, and which makes Momo even more interesting,
- 57:09Speaker 2: like did you gonna tell you anything? Like spill the beans?
- 57:13Speaker 3: Boys?
- 57:13Speaker 2: Spill the beans?
- 57:15Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely the whole the fact that they are still around,
- 57:23Speaker 1: but like, because I expected whoever had been responsible for
- 57:28Speaker 1: the creation of these things to be extinct, and finding
- 57:34Speaker 1: out that they are not extinct. But the one kid
- 57:39Speaker 1: that we have contact with like seems to not know anything.
- 57:42Speaker 1: It doesn't feel they guarded their legacy super well, so
- 57:47Speaker 1: I wonder about that. It just feels sort of like, ouch,
- 57:52Speaker 1: you guys really just like dropped the ball on this.
- 57:54Speaker 2: I don't know, it's fits like it, but yeah, that's true.
- 58:00Speaker 2: We find out that that he is like that he
- 58:04Speaker 2: his family made though made the pornicglyphs. And by the way,
- 58:08Speaker 2: I just maybe a segue or like pond glyphs. A
- 58:15Speaker 2: lot of people like them, like defend them, likes them
- 58:18Speaker 2: a lot, and I this was the moment where I
- 58:22Speaker 2: started to care about them more and even like going
- 58:26Speaker 2: back because they have been around, but I was never like,
- 58:29Speaker 2: oh my god, what is this that I was interested?
- 58:32Speaker 2: But now I'm like, oh, now I'm like they're related
- 58:36Speaker 2: to the one piece. Now I'm really interested in them
- 58:39Speaker 2: even more.
- 58:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I definitely agree with.
- 58:42Speaker 2: That, and to me, I mean, it makes the Rewatchers
- 58:47Speaker 2: even more exciting and I just want to we have
- 58:51Speaker 2: not talked about her take a moment to talk about Robin,
- 58:55Speaker 2: because I feel like she is kind of like the
- 58:57Speaker 2: center point of this episode mm hmmmm. And I find
- 59:02Speaker 2: it really cute in these episodes. Like one moment that
- 59:04Speaker 2: I liked a lot is when she sees the pornoglyph.
- 59:09Speaker 2: She basically waits for permission before she goes to read it,
- 59:13Speaker 2: because like Dogstorm is like do you want to read it?
- 59:16Speaker 2: You seem interested in it. Then she's like if you're
- 59:19Speaker 2: allowing you know that?
- 59:21Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 59:22Speaker 2: It is It is like really cute, you know, like
- 59:25Speaker 2: that she has the respect of the culture and to
- 59:29Speaker 2: wait for getting permission in this way. I like that moment.
- 59:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I definitely agree. I think that this is This
- 59:40Speaker 1: is something that I struggle with with this show a
- 59:43Speaker 1: little bit, is the fact that like there is obviously
- 59:47Speaker 1: an expectation that you are going to consume and reconsume,
- 59:52Speaker 1: so that certain things wind up taking on more context
- 59:55Speaker 1: for you as you go through it time and time again.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: And it's like kind of a danger in the way
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: that I'm watching things because the pony Glyphs feel so
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: unconnected to anything that I didn't give a shit about
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: them at all. It felt like something that was probably
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: going to wind up being important but absolutely wasn't at
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: the moment. And so the fact that like, there is
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: such a big deal made about what's going on with
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: Robin learning to be able to read them and them
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: trying to stop her from reading them, and you know
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: that whole thing. I understood that this is like a
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: you know, there's likely going to be a bigger plot
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: point behind this, but because he waits so long to
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: let us know what the point is, when I'm watching
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: it for the first time, I feel like, why couldn't
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: you have given me a little taste earlier so that
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: I would have engaged more in cared more. And that's
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: what I run up against with the show a lot
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: is like if you had just let me know any
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: of that sooner than you did, instead of treating it
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: like it's its own reveal. It's not just a separate
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: its own reveal. It's related to a lot of stuff
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: that already happened. And this is how I felt about,
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: like finally finding out what happened to Robin. You guys
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: know that I just didn't connect with Robin. And we
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: finally get her life story, like so far into things,
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: and we know about her caring about the ponent glyphs
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: and history and what not to begin with, but we
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: don't know why, we don't know how important it is
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: to her, and it's just telling things in a way
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: that to me feels a little backward. You know, it's
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: him trying to like give us breadcrumbs and be like, oh,
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: you'll find out eventually. I'll keep you guessing. But in
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: my opinion, everything would have had more weight and more
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: interest if you reversed it. And there are a lot
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: of things in this series where I feel like that's true,
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: and this is one for me where I'm like, I'm
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: kind of on the fence. A part of me feels
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: like I would have liked to know the significance of
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: the ponoglyphs in this context sooner. Another part of me
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: kind of likes the fact that the ponent glyphs being
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: key to the one piece is a big reveal, But
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: I feel like we could have split the difference where
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: there's like a legend about the ponent glyphs being connected
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: to some you know eventually, like they can help you
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: achieve wisdom or that you can find your heart's desire
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: or some you know something that like if you read
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: them all you get something, and then eventually we find
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: out the one piece is the thing. Maybe that's like
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: part of the connection the thing is. I don't know
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: if the ponoglyphs leading to the one piece is circumstantial.
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: The ponoglyphs might lead to the island, and the island
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: has a whole other thing going on, and gold Roger
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: just buried the one piece there for different reasons, So
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: the ponoglyphs may not originally have pointed to the one piece.
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: They may have pointed just to the island. So I
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: don't know. The island feels like it must be significant somehow,
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: you know.
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: I like your thoughts here, and I kind of do
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: feel you on that. But a lot what you just
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: said is actually what was a big thing in the fandom,
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: because there was a big partial portion of the fandom
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: who was like, no ponoglyph will lead us to the
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: one piece, like before this real happened. And so what
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: you're saying is like you would have cared more knowing that,
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: but people cared because there was like a lot of
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: people believing that that was like a connection there and
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: it turned out to be true. So and maybe those
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: people like it more that they could like theorize along
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: the way and enjoy that. But I can definitely see
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: what you mean. And I was I'm somebody who just
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: consumes things and let it wash over me. Honestly, I'm
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: just like the kind of consumers though for me it
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: was fine this way, But I get what you mean.
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: Yeah, it's the fact that, like people were theorizing and
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: everything is part of the whole. We are going to
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: rewatch this many many times. There's going to be like
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: a fandom community built up around it because it takes
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: so long for the story to be told that this
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: is part of the experience of it, you know, And
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: I think that I'm just not used to stories being
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: told with that as part of the understanding that I'm
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: going to take it for granted. You're going to rewatch
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: this you're going to reread this, you are going to
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: be in spaces where people talk about this NonStop, and
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: that it's going to take literal years for us to
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: get to the point of any of this. You know,
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: I'm just not used to stories that do things that way.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: So for me, it's just like, I'm sorry, Seraphim has
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: left so many comments and I have not been able
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: to talk about them. Sorry Saraphim. But one thing that
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: they they commented, it's one piece assume everything has far
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: more meaning than you first assume. And that's the thing
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: like I do. I do assume that, but that doesn't
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: mean I give a shit it may. It actually kind
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: of causes me to dis engauge because once I see
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: a thing, I'm like, Okay, that's probably gonna be something,
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: but it probably won't be anything for like one hundred
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: and fifty episodes, so I don't even need to think
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: about it. And I wouldn't mind being given a hint
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: that it's something that I can sort of, you know,
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: feel some connection to before one hundred and fifty episodes
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: pass and it's finally brought up again by somebody, I
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: would I would be down for a little bit more
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: of a hint ahead of time. But again, yeah, I'm
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: not consuming this the way that it seems like most.
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: Of the world consumed it.
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: Yeah, so I'm gonna have a real different like takeaway here.
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: I totally get that. I hope just in the general
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: things it is still enjoyable. I actually i'm listening right
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: now to your Courage of Lost Metal. I feel like
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: it is and with Miles and you kind of ran
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: into a thing where Randall Anderson we need to talk
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: about like they're all the different kind of universes and
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: and this is not completely the same. But I at
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: least feel like Woe Piece still works even if you
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: don't remember every everything like you don't, you don't need to,
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: but for the people who really enjoy it, it is there.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: I definitely think it still works. It's it's just that
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: I feel like I'm missing out on a part of
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: the enjoyment by not getting to care about things more.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: But again, that's like part of that enjoyment is that
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: like a way of consuming this that I don't. And
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: so maybe there's just no way from you you really
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: ever get that, like understand that sort of process.
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: I get it, because I mean, at the end I
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: feel like this enjoyment is the fandom that we're talking
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: about at large, if I'm if I'm catching what you're throwing. Yeah,
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: it feels like that the fandom of One Piece, I
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: at least feel like it's like really engaging and really great.
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: And I mean, due to the show and in general,
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: you cannot really engage with the fandom, but I yeah,
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: I feel like that that's maybe the part that is musing.
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: Of course, like over like the stories that we have
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: told and like the theories like they're like I mean,
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: they are like crazy theories about out there about One Piece,
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: and we have a fandom just like know them and
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: things that have been disproven and things that have been proven.
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: And I can see that that uss unspoiled, as Natasha
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: for when spoiled, I cannot enjoy that, and I'm sorry.
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's sort of nice in a way because
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: it's like, even though I feel sad that I'm not
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: getting the full experience of it due to in not
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: engaging in that way because of spoilers and all of that,
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: there is sort of and I think that I'm experiencing
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: a little bit what Rashaun experienced when we covered Harry
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: Potter where she knows that there's this massive fandom out
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: there that is just waiting for her to finally be
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: spoiled so that she can engage in all the stuff.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: So even though I do feel frustrated by the way
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: the story is told sometimes, I also know that by
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: the time I catch up, if that ever does happen,
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: I am going to have a lot of spaces that
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: I can like go in and join in, and there
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: will be some wild stuff, and I'll also be able
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: to like go back and watch through with like not
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: just the context of what I know now, but also
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: the filler episodes. I'll be able to go through as
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: well and probably have some strong feelings on some of them.
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: And I'm sure the fandom also has strong feelings on
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: a lot of them. So yeah, So I there's like
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: a big part of me that's sort of like enjoying that.
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: And I think I just have like this sort this
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: envy of how well versed folks are that have gone
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: through this so many times, and I feel like I
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: often am just scrambling to keep track of stuff, you know,
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: and it's not like there's nothing to be done about it.
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: There's no way to approach this and give like you
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: guys helping me out in the comments or in the discord.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: That's pretty much the only thing that you can do
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: is to like remind me of things through that or
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: for the show to remind me of stuff. There's just
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: because I do things this way, for spoil me in
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: a vacuum all alone, I've done this to myself. I
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: have nobody to blame but myself.
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: You know, well maybe we have a handy do as well.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: But I'm not trying to lay blame. He said it,
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: he said it on me.
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: It's our fault. It's me. I started it all. But yeah, no, no,
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: And of course nobody expects you to rewatch it like
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: you have so many, so many other shows going on,
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: like and of course it is kind of interesting. I
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: mean I find it interesting to do to watch it
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: through dead lens as well to kind of see you
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: work through this all, like the whole story and now
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: kind of back to the story. If that's fine with you,
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: let's do that. I just wanted to talk a little
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: bit more about Robin, and I forgot what I wanted
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: to say, Like, there is this really cute scene where
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: kat Wiper is oh no, before that, the fandom again
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: with Robin, I just wanted to close it off if
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: we don't A reason why maybe Robin doesn't connect so
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: much with you is that outside in the fandom, she
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: has that role of she is arguably the most important
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: character in one place because she can read the pornic glyphs,
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: she can read the ponnit live she is.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess that's true. I mean, that's what like
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: it winds up coming down to later is and being
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: like they're gonna want to kidnap her, so watch out
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: for that's wild thing to just like say.
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: But but it is true. And I feel like, like
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: I personally like Robin, but a lot of the fandom
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: like really loves her, which I not think is raw.
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: But I feel like the connection with her to the
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: overarching story gives her like an extra boost, which again
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: is not unfair, Like I can definitely see it because
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: she is important. She's really important to this story. And yeah,
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: but I like that the moment where all of the
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: straw heads are like, no, we will protect her, like
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: she says, like I have strong friends and they're like
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: all blushing. It's so cute.
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: That was another look we have a few moments in
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: these episodes where we see like an emotion from Lufy
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: that we do not often see one of them being
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: real ticked off at Momo who just thinks he's cooler
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: than he should, and then him getting genuinely bashful, can like,
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: I'm sure there is an episode out there, guys that
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: this has happened, but I I thought about it after
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: this moment because it caught me so off guard. We
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: have never seen him react this way that I can remember.
- 1:14:25Speaker 4: He blushes, he gets little like like little hearts, you know,
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: like it's a moment and I just never expected.
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: Him to.
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: It's so it's it's a perfect reaction from him because
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: all he cares about is fighting and his friends. Like
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: so of course his friend saying, I have no doubt
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: that he will be up for it. Of course this
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: is going to be the thing, right, Yeah, but it
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: didn't occur to me, and we've just never seen it
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: laid out like this, So for him to just be
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: so precious and touched about it. And then we have everybody,
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: like each of the fighters going around and being bashful
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: in turn about you know, her, assuming that they will
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: have her back. But Loufy like We've seen them all
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: sort of have this moment except for Loofy, so it
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: was cute for all of them, but really it's about him.
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: He's the one that I was the most tickled by
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: for sure with this. Ah yeah, So I'm trying to
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: get to because we have I'm like scrolling through the
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: third episode to make sure that we haven't missed anything.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: Oh my god, I'm sorry. Louvi's face when us up
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: SHA's his plan to not have to fight is so
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: fucking funny, you guys. If I did, there's like a
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: block on taking screenshots. If it weren't so difficult to
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: take screenshots on this, I would definitely try and use
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: this as like the image photo for this episode. But
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: just this is like the sort of thing that I
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: would like to keep in my phone as a reaction
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: photo too. Just leaven comment sections in places, just this
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: incredibly sad and frustrated face, exactly exactly.
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: Maybe one thing we have not talked about it is
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: they go outside quickly, and it is basically the Samurai
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: crying over the city and seeing the destruction that was
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: the episode before, in the second one. But I just
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: saw that and it is just a short I mean,
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: it's kind of drawn out, but it is a short
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: moment of just to show how much they appreciate the
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: sacrifice the min's made. You know, it is not they
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: realize it. It's not like, oh yeah, thanks for saving
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: our friends and now everything is okay or like they
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: know and that came at the cost, at a huge cash,
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: and I like to see that portrait.
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: I definitely like this was this was a time where
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: I didn't mind it being drawn out because this whole
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: thing has been fought over this one guy and we
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: only just found out he's even still that he was here,
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: so and you guys know, like last time, when it's
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: revealed that he was here, I was just floored at
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: like what it would be like to be the person
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: that was the subject of all of this sacrifice, and
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: how how incredibly sad I would be that, Like they
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: wind up coming out of it okay in terms of
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: loss of life, but like there's so much destruction that
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: how do you get over that and live with yourself?
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: It's not your fault, but you can't help but feel
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: like it's your fault. I mean I would, and that
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: is definitely something that he is coping with. Is just
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: knowing that they were out there going through this this
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: whole time, that he was powerless to help them, and
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: that this city that has like he actually got to
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: see it before the destruction, so he knows what a
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: difference this is versus our friends coming in only having
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: seen it destroyed and not really having the context for
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: what it was like before. So it's a really different Yeah.
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: I actually really liked this moment, and I was glad
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: that he has this like weight that he's carrying, and
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: he says that he will avenge them for what they
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: had to sacrifice for him, and I like that because
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: I would just that would eat me up, you know, I.
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: Think that is I don't know, I don't know what
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: it would feel I would feel. Even if I would
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: personally go out and kill Jack, it does not feel
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: like enough, you know. Yeah. Right, It's the kind of
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: deal where it's like, oh my god.
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: Yeah, it's yeah, it's like killing him, great, thanks, he
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: was already gone, He's already not doing anything to us anymore,
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: and our city is still ruined.
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: I do think that I would feel like they need
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: to do it just because I want to do something,
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: But I I just am glad that it gets addressed. Though,
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: because these guys have such honor surrounding their friends and
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: and their role as usually being the protectors, I'm assuming
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: that probably being protected instead of the protector really got
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: under his skin.
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: Absolutely, And I feel like we're kind of getting at
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: the end, but I mean the end of the third episode,
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: and I want to after that ask you about some predictions,
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: but we can kind of the drop that, yeah, we
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: get his name, Nomo Son. I'm not sure did we
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: get his name? Do you remember that?
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: I don't remember? Who is this.
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: Like Momentezuka's son, Like they ask at the end, like
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: like he gets revealed that the Stonemasons are from his
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: clam and then they're like, yeah, but his father could
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: not pass down to Momentezuka how to read the pornent list,
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: like so and apparently he was killed and as you
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: know tells this story, he's like really upset. He's like
- 1:21:29Speaker 2: hitting his knee and.
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I was like on board with it, but also,
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: my god, they just have this go on for such
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: a long time every time.
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: Yeah, and MoMA is crying like really full out sobbing,
- 1:21:47Speaker 2: and yeah, that's that's also when when they dropped that
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: that he was on the on gold Rocher shape right,
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: his father was, And I don't know, Like I just
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: wanted to ask you in general, maybe some predictions because
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: we have kind a lot of things in the air.
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: We also have to hold Sanji thing going on, and
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: I just would like to hear what you think we're
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: going next, or like, what's it about to happen?
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the question, because like I am so bad
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: at predicting this. A lot of the time, the show
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: will really duke left when I thought for sure we
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: were going right, And you know, it's like sometimes I'll
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: be glad because I'm like, oh, I thought this was
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: going to take longer, And then sometimes I'll just be like,
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: I don't care about this other thing? What are you doing?
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: And honestly, as much as like I'm into finding the
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: phonyglyphs and finding the one piece I've I have very
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: little expectation of ever actually finding it, It's fine for
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: me to totally back burner that for now. I want
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: to deal with soanjy please, I really want to figure
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: out what the hell's going on there Soanji. This bru
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: is a disaster, Like how we're gonna have to deal
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: with big Ma. I don't know what this woman that
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: he's allegedly supposed to marry is going to be like.
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: But I have to imagine it's like we're gonna make
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: her purposely terrible. It's so up in the air for me.
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: It could be either we're going to make her this hideous,
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: horrible monster that he can't even look at and it's
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: too awful a fate to imagine. Or she's gorgeous and
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: nobody wants him to marry her because it's gonna cause
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: him to leave the straw hats. But and he's like,
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: of course I won't marry her. I don't want to
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: leave the straw hats. And then as soon as she
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: walks in, he's like, fuh, I'm gonna marry this shit
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: out of that woman. So oh, it could really go
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: either way. I feel like the second one feels more
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: Soani Like it feels like if we're when we're with Oda,
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: what we're doing is as much nosebleed material as possible
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: with Soanji, you know, so that like, I probably want
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: to go that way, and I would prefer it to
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: like the inevitable. Oh isn't she fat and ugly? Because
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: you know, but yeah, who knows.
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: It would be more difficult to get him back, wouldn't it.
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: Mm hmm?
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: I mean, or we get like what's it called, a
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: new crewmember like his wife and replace him.
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: Oh my god, Oh my god, I didn't even think.
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: You thought, like replacing me, not like.
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: I thought replacing him, which I I love, but like,
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: oh my god, I hate it the idea of.
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: I don't.
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: I don't know why I hate it so much, Like
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: it's not having a new crew member isn't necessarily a
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: bad thing. We've had people added, and sometimes they've been
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: added and it hasn't fucking mattered, Like where's JIMBEI if
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: there was a whole thing with him being a crew
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: member and this fucking guy we haven't seen.
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: And you know, so yeah, I don't know.
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: It could be that sort of thing. Yeah, we get
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: a new crew member technically and then we fucking never
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: see her again. You know, it might be nothing, but
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: and she might be cool. She might be cool, and
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: I'll be like, oh, yeah, Adder is a crew member.
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: She's read, you know, like he just doesn't have a
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: great track record with writing women characters that I like.
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: It doesn't happen that often you know, yeah, it's not impossible, but.
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: Mm hmm h yeah, no, that's I mean, your next
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: course is sany in that case, like like you're wishing
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: your prediction or like, yeah it is Sangie at the moment,
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: and I totally understand that.
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I really just I want to find out more
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: about how he wound up where he is because I
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: wonder that from the start, whose child is this? And
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: so that is the part that's really like at the
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: moment on my mind. And yeah, I don't know, man,
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: I I just don't. I don't care about treasure. The
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: friends are the treasure. We lost a friend, you know,
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: that's true.
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: No, hey, I totally see that. Was there anything else
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: I wanted to ask? Well, in general, did you enjoy
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: these episodes? I think I didn't even ask the beginning,
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: so I'm asking now that's.
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: Funny, Yeah I did. I I just like, because you
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: know how this is where every time I cover with
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: a co host, I know, okay, these episodes are going
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: to be significant. So I started off thinking that it
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: was going to be Riiso that was the significant part.
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: Rights is that the name of the ninja? Yeah, Riiso.
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: I thought that was going to be it that it
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: was like, we're getting introduced to this character and so
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: he's the thing, you know, and I was sort of like, huh, okay,
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: he's not what I would think would be a big deal,
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: but let's wait and see, you know, And then the
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: ponyglyph reveal, I was like, oh, this makes more sense. Okay, good.
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: So it wasn't that it was not You're right. I
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: wasn't like not enjoying it to begin with, but I
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: was genuinely sort of like confused about it, and then
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: it all became clear.
- 1:28:22Speaker 2: Yeah, Okay, I'm excited for like the next episodes as well.
- 1:28:26Speaker 2: And yeah, I'm really excited to see where and I
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: know where the journey will take us, but like your
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: your takes of the journey, I'm exciting what you have
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: to say for the future arts that are coming. Yeah.
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm really really curious because this has gone in
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: a direction that I wasn't expecting in terms of like
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: the crew getting separated from just one person. This doesn't
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: happen very often. You know, we have like everybody sort
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: of has their moment, I guess, but I'm trying to
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: think because like you know, we have Nami and she
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: gets separated from the crew right at the beginning because
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: it turns out she was lying about who she was.
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: And we have oos Up who separates because he decides
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: he doesn't want to be part of things anymore, and
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: then reconsiders, and we have Robin separating because she, you know,
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: thinks that she shouldn't be with them and brings harm
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: on everybody around her. So a lot of them, they
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: have their their moments of like going off on their own,
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: and I'm curious about if every single one of them
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: is going to get this or not. I don't mind it.
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: I do think it's like it. It's just interesting because
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: the dynamic of the of the group changes when one
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: of them is gone. So it's just sort of.
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like it's long. It kind of makes
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: say for the characters and for the story, Like this
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: really feels like Sanchi did not really get kidnapped. I
- 1:30:08Speaker 2: mean he got, but you know, like there is like
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: a whole different layer to it where it kind of
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: seems like that he went on his own accord, you know.
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: And yeah, and yeah, they're like layers or like different
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: layers to each character. And like for example, Usups was
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: like deeply layered with like he's self low wing, you know, like, yeah,
- 1:30:30Speaker 2: it was so much strong packed. So yeah, photo us
- 1:30:35Speaker 2: that from time to time, and I feel like every
- 1:30:37Speaker 2: time he pulls it off, and oftentimes some of the
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: best words comes out of that.
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: Everybody, Yeah, I agree with that in particular, was like
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: that one got to me real bad. It got to
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: me because I like felt so bad, and then it
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: got to me because Zoro being like that bitch was
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: an asshole. You can't just let him come back, And
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: I was like what and then oh shit, he's right.
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: So that one I really really like. That's like maybe
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: my favorite. All right, all right, we have to wrap
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: this up. But yes, thank you so much for joining me.
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: I really really appreciate it.
- 1:31:17Speaker 2: Thank you for having me. I enjoyed my time here,
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: and I'm always I don't know, I think I already
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: have booked another one, honestly, I'm not sure, somewhere in
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: November maybe, but I am always enjoying my time being here.
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: And I hope people are not sick of me.
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: No, nobody's sick of you. I'm sure every time people
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: are like, oh thank god, she's got a co host
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: this time, it's not just her droning on alone. Do
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: you want to plug anything before you go?
- 1:31:47Speaker 2: Not at the moment. I'm deep in my master's right now,
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: so that's all my time goes into that at the moment,
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: So I don't know. Wish me luck for that, guys,
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: and wish me luck for the next leg six months.
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: We're just at the beginning of my friends, Good luck,
- 1:32:06Speaker 2: good luck.
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: I hope that I can help by being in the
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: background when you're doing stuff.
- 1:32:13Speaker 2: Thank you you are you awful are and it helps.
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: All right, guys, Thank you all again for listening. Hope
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: you're enjoying the coverage, and until next time to balloon motherfuckers.
- 1:32:24Speaker 3: Bye.
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: That was an unspoiled Network podcast.
