- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Today, we are going to talk about the New Year our goals.
- 0:36And what the hell are you waiting for, okay?
- 0:41Oftentimes, at this time of year, I go through this ritual
- 0:44with my clients about, you know, obviously everybody wants to
- 0:47talk about what their plan is for next year.
- 0:49And I'm very succinct with this and tell them.
- 0:51Listen, you really have to focus and I do this for myself to, you
- 0:55have to focus first on, what didn't work this year, doing a
- 0:58little debrief of what didn't work this year?
- 1:00So and what did work. So, you know, you know where
- 1:03you're starting from. Otherwise if you don't do that
- 1:06exercise, you really just layering more things to do on
- 1:11top of things that didn't get finished.
- 1:12So it's the perp vegetable to-do list hanging around and then we
- 1:18go to. Okay, let's talk about getting
- 1:21ready for the next year. But a big part of this process
- 1:24is getting psychologically ready for it.
- 1:26Because so often what happens when you're you know, setting
- 1:30goals Goals and your, that driven person is you will
- 1:34endlessly be creating and adding and growing and moving.
- 1:38I mean, that's just part of what the dynamic is.
- 1:40When you're that kind of person, everything is as it is.
- 1:44The human experience has taught. All of us.
- 1:48Everything is about the growth and the even if you're just
- 1:54growing in your emotional state, there's always growth happening.
- 1:57Nothing in nature stays And when it does, does that sound like a
- 2:03word? You really want to entertain
- 2:05stagnant? Like, listen, we won't drink
- 2:06stagnant water, will it? Oh God.
- 2:08No, that's disgusting. We don't want to have stagnant
- 2:12finances. We don't want to have stagnant
- 2:14Health. We always want to be on a path
- 2:16of stretching moving and growing because that's where health
- 2:20comes in and that's where abundance comes in.
- 2:24And that's where all the good stuff starts to show up is when
- 2:27you're on the path of growth. And when you get things out of
- 2:30your way, Way. You know, I always try to find
- 2:34out here on the farm lessons that my husband and I learn to
- 2:37bring to you guys. I'll tell you one of the
- 2:39interesting things about this is trees.
- 2:42So we had a very, very wooded lot 5 Acres, five plus acres,
- 2:48and we had some really, really beautiful trees hidden among all
- 2:53of the trees that were secondary, so to speak scrub
- 2:57trees, and my husband always has this.
- 3:00Jin. He can look at a tree and he can
- 3:02say this tree is going to be a magnificent.
- 3:04If we just give it the space, if we take out what's impeding, its
- 3:08progress which are other trees to close, and just give it some
- 3:13space and let let them grow. And one of these particular
- 3:16things are Live, Oaks live, oak trees are amazing and they're
- 3:20phototropic, which means that when they grow, they grow
- 3:23outward and they grow where the sun grow goes on them.
- 3:27So they will stretch out in all these different directions.
- 3:30So he's taste work diligently as one of his goals, last year was
- 3:35to take out all the trees around the Live Oaks and give them
- 3:39space and see what happens because he's never a rush to cut
- 3:43a tree down. Neither of us, are we are super,
- 3:46super, super into nature animals caring for nature and he just
- 3:51won't cut a tree randomly. So he goes and he cuts out a
- 3:54bunch of these pine trees that are in the way of these Grand
- 3:58Old Oaks. And all of a sudden The whole
- 4:01landscape of our property changes because the trees look
- 4:04different and they're spreading different.
- 4:06And when you walk, when you come down, our driveway, when you
- 4:08walk down the driveway, you're like, wow, that tree looks all
- 4:12of a sudden. Unbelievable, well, it's like
- 4:15that in life with goals. And if you don't take away all
- 4:19the crap that impedes you from getting where you're going and
- 4:24and see where it's holding. You back, you will never stretch
- 4:28out grow. You will always be in the option
- 4:30of being stuck and stagnant. So the lesson of the Grand Oaks
- 4:34and the lesson of the trees helps you to remember, I've got
- 4:37to take the things out of my way that are in my way before I
- 4:42decide to stretch for the growth because if I don't I'm just
- 4:44going to be stretching around obstacles so as you start to do
- 4:48your goal setting and you start thinking about this that that
- 4:51little piece of the puzzle about going back and saying have I
- 4:57removed the known obstacles? Before I sit down and even work
- 5:03on goal, setting, why is this important?
- 5:06Because if you're just going to say, I'm going to dump my goals
- 5:09on a piece of paper for the year and I don't do the cleanup ACT
- 5:12first or I don't understand what I could, potentially run into
- 5:16your screwed from the get-go because it will happen because
- 5:19it has to happen to teach you the lesson of what not to do.
- 5:23So, while this may seem daunting, believe me, I know I
- 5:27have to go through this myself. I've set myself.
- 5:30Up already in putting myself into a program this year that is
- 5:34going to be a huge stretch for me and I know that sounds weird
- 5:38coming from the person who's out there teaching everybody but if
- 5:41I'm not always learning then I'm a hypocrite.
- 5:44I have to teach you guys exactly what I'm doing.
- 5:46I have to say, Hey listen, I can't tell you guys to push
- 5:50yourselves if I'm not willing to push myself and I'm about to
- 5:52jump into a Vortex of really pushing myself for the next six
- 5:56months, and I am so excited about it and I'm scared
- 5:59shitless. And I'm, you know, elated that I
- 6:04was able to get into this and I'm, you know, fearful of what
- 6:10I'm going to find out and what I'm going to know.
- 6:11But on the other side of it I'm like wow this is exactly where I
- 6:16need to be the exact stretch. I had to remove obstacles in my
- 6:21way to get there. I had to say, okay, if I've got
- 6:24to be more rigid with my calendar, about the hours, I
- 6:27work, I'm willing to do it. If I've got to be more
- 6:30responsive, Rigid about the time that I spend doing other
- 6:33activities for six months, maybe I have to give up all the
- 6:37painting that I've been, you know, planning on doing, maybe I
- 6:41have to give that up so I can work on the homework, okay?
- 6:44For six months, I'm willing to do it.
- 6:46So when you do this ahead of time and you do it before, you
- 6:49actually put the goals down on paper and, you know, the things
- 6:53that are going to get in your way or even if you have the
- 6:55goals on paper and you stop and you say, all right, what could,
- 6:58what could get in my way? What are these things and you
- 7:00debrief? If you do it that way, you have
- 7:03a much higher chance of success, and that's what I want you guys
- 7:07to have. So learn the lesson from the
- 7:09trees, go out there. And before the end of the year
- 7:13push yourself to figure out what gets in your way, what worked,
- 7:16what didn't work and make sure that before you do anything with
- 7:21yourself, you really are honest with yourself about all of it.
- 7:26Okay? My friends.
- 7:26I will look forward to seeing you tomorrow and I hope you have
- 7:29a very blessed day. Bye.
