- 0:01We utilize speech to communicate with other people.
- 0:05Speech, however, is a translation into vibrational
- 0:08patterns of specific thought content developed with a
- 0:12particular pattern of electrical impulses.
- 0:16When it is effective, the hearer receives the vibrational energy
- 0:20of the speech he has heard and converts that speech into
- 0:25corresponding electrical impulses in the brain,
- 0:28triggering understanding of the content of the speech.
- 0:32So if we break this down to the elements involved here, first
- 0:38the speaker needs to formulate a thought, idea, concept, image in
- 0:43his mind. There are people who cannot
- 0:46speak, but who nevertheless can formulate clear ideas and
- 0:51thought formations. Modern researchers have begun to
- 0:55pick up those brain impulses, and they can then convert them
- 0:59into synthesized speech to communicate the thought that
- 1:03validates the underlying vibrational pattern that is
- 1:07intended to be communicated through the speaking process.
- 1:12The second part is the conversion of these impulses
- 1:15into speech, whether through the use of the vocal capabilities of
- 1:20the individual or, as noted above, through synthesized
- 1:24speech created from the electrical impulses of the
- 1:27brain. The more clear and focus the
- 1:31thought content, the more clearly the speech process can
- 1:35communicate that thought. In mechanical terms this is
- 1:41increasing the ratio of signal in the form of the clear thought
- 1:45being communicated to noise in the form of any vague or not
- 1:50clearly defined elements that are being transmitted.
- 1:55The higher the signal to noise ratio, the more precisely,
- 1:59clearly and directly the speech is able to translate and
- 2:04communicate the essence of the thought form to the hearer.
- 2:08To the extent the speaker is unclear in his own
- 2:11understanding, he will necessarily have more noise in
- 2:15his communication than signal, leading to non understanding and
- 2:20confusion for the listener. The third element then is the
- 2:25receptivity and ability to convert the speech back into
- 2:29electrical vibrational patterns in his brain, thereby capturing
- 2:35the thought form and imagery that the sender is
- 2:37communicating. The receiver must be able to
- 2:42attend to the communication or he will miss the sense or he'll
- 2:48garble it. One element to this is to
- 2:51understand the specific language being used to transmit the
- 2:54content. For instance, a physicist may
- 2:58communicate information about quantum mechanics to a
- 3:02layperson. If it is done using the jargon
- 3:06and special language of physics, there will be far less
- 3:10communication than if the language translating the
- 3:13thoughts is modulated to the language and background of the
- 3:17hearer. However, it must be noted that
- 3:21understanding of a particular language is not absolutely
- 3:26necessary in all cases, particularly if the speaker has
- 3:30a very clear signal and can create images that are
- 3:34powerfully formed in his mind. In that instance, the receiving
- 3:39party may not understand the specific words, but may get the
- 3:44sense and understanding of what is being communicated, the
- 3:49mother writes. Quote.
- 3:52The ideal condition, which has already been partially realized
- 3:57by some people, is to transmit the essential idea, and even
- 4:01something that is higher than the idea, the state, the state
- 4:05of consciousness, of knowledge, of perception, directly through
- 4:10the vibration. When you think, the mental
- 4:14substance vibrates in a certain way in accordance with the form
- 4:18your consciousness gives to your thought, and it is this
- 4:22vibration which should be perceived by the other mind if
- 4:26it is well attuned. Indeed, words serve only to draw
- 4:31the attention of the other consciousness or the other
- 4:34centre of consciousness, so that it may be attentive to the
- 4:38vibration and receive it. But if it is not attentive and
- 4:44doesn't have the capacity to receive in comparative silence,
- 4:49you may pour out miles of words without making yourself
- 4:53understood in the least. And there comes a time when the
- 4:57brain which is very active in emanating certain vibrations,
- 5:02can only receive vibrations which are clear and precise.
- 5:06Otherwise it is a kind of vague mixture of something confused,
- 5:12imprecise, which gives the impression of a cloudy woolly
- 5:16mass and doesn't evoke any idea. So one speaks, the sound is
- 5:23clearly heard, but it conveys nothing.
- 5:27It is not a question of sound. It is a matter of precision in
- 5:32the vibrations. If you can emanate your thought
- 5:36in a very precise way, if it is something living and conscious
- 5:41emanating from your consciousness and going to meet
- 5:45the other consciousness, if, so to speak, you know what you want
- 5:50to say, then it arrives with the same precision.
- 5:54It awakens the corresponding vibration, and with the
- 5:58corresponding vibration comes the corresponding thought or
- 6:02idea or state of consciousness, and you understand each other.
- 6:08But if what is emanated is woolly imprecise, if you do not
- 6:13know very well what you want to say, if you yourself are trying
- 6:18to understand what you want to say, and if, on the other hand,
- 6:23the attention of the hearer is not alert enough, or he is busy
- 6:27and active somewhere else, well, then you may talk to each other
- 6:32for hours. You will not understand each
- 6:35other at all. And in fact, this is what
- 6:38happens most often when you are able to see in the consciousness
- 6:43of others the result of what you have tried to communicate.
- 6:47It always gives you the feeling of you know what distorting
- 6:51mirrors are. Have you never seen distorting
- 6:54mirrors? Mirrors which make you look
- 6:56taller or fatter, which enlarge one part and reduce another?
- 7:02You are faced with a grotesque caricature of yourself.
- 7:06Well, this is exactly what happens in the other person's
- 7:10consciousness. You have an altogether grotesque
- 7:13character of what you have said, and people imagine that they
- 7:18have understood each other because they have heard the
- 7:21sound of words, but they haven't communicated.
