- 0:15Speaker 3: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota dot Com.
- 0:21Speaker 2: What's going on with you?
- 0:22Speaker 4: Alex horsing myself back here?
- 0:26Speaker 1: I think I hit the cycle this weekend. For a
- 0:28Speaker 1: Cape weekend.
- 0:28Speaker 5: I think I pretty much hit every single thing I
- 0:30Speaker 5: need to accomplish.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I ate a lobster role.
- 0:32Speaker 5: I swam in the ocean, I flew a kite. Flying
- 0:35Speaker 5: a kite was on your let's use miracle grower.
- 0:37Speaker 4: Now all organic.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Brady and Chris Sims paths cross here. I don't know
- 0:42Speaker 2: what he did.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Did he like his butets? I just root for the fans.
- 0:45Speaker 5: You want to keep like good players around and have
- 0:47Speaker 5: your stars in town, and.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Unlike Paul, you root for the fans. He wants the
- 0:51Speaker 2: world to be forever in neutrals, Do you're.
- 0:53Speaker 4: Worried to show people like you home?
- 0:55Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 0:55Speaker 1: Kind of, that's the dungeon we don't go down.
- 0:57Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 0:58Speaker 2: That Tony chop Choppy did this, saying to a guy
- 1:00Speaker 2: cut his legs and arms off to him in the ocean.
- 1:02Speaker 2: They called him mob.
- 1:04Speaker 5: This is Patriot's Unfiltered, presented by Toyota dot Com.
- 1:10Speaker 1: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:12Speaker 2: It is Thursday here at Jillette, or should I say
- 1:16Speaker 2: Mars by the look of our atmosphere with all that
- 1:18Speaker 2: smoke coming down from Canada, Thanks Canada, Blame Canada. Isn't
- 1:24Speaker 2: that a song by South Park Seth McFarlane, Oh no,
- 1:29Speaker 2: that's Trey Parker Parker. Yeah, yeah, okay, not that Maily gag. Yeah,
- 1:35Speaker 2: all right, well listen, it's Alex, it's me, it's Deuce,
- 1:39Speaker 2: It's Matt and Nabooth. Evan and Paul are still on VACA.
- 1:42Speaker 5: This is it, though, this is from now, not the
- 1:44Speaker 5: last show of the off season, but kind of.
- 1:47Speaker 1: The weird show.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Yeah. Next week we're in training camp mode.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Get ready, get focused, get locked in.
- 1:54Speaker 2: So this is it. If you got anything weird you
- 1:56Speaker 2: want to talk about, this is your last day.
- 1:59Speaker 1: What I mean World Cup too.
- 2:00Speaker 5: I mean there's a great game yesterday and our final
- 2:03Speaker 5: on Sunday.
- 2:04Speaker 2: I'm not necessarily rooting for Spain, but I think Spain's
- 2:08Speaker 2: gonna win. Yeah, yeah, I'm just rooting for a good game.
- 2:11Speaker 5: I don't want to spoil anything, and Alex is wonderful
- 2:13Speaker 5: newsletter this week, but I've had the We watched the
- 2:17Speaker 5: first Argentina come back against Egypt here and then I
- 2:20Speaker 5: watched that game yesterday with another comeback, and it just
- 2:22Speaker 5: reminds me so much of the Patriots of you know,
- 2:24Speaker 5: the old champs, and like you think you got it,
- 2:27Speaker 5: but you don't got them, and you know to get
- 2:29Speaker 5: to And I know Messi is obviously thirty nine years old.
- 2:32Speaker 5: He's not the talented player he once was. He's still
- 2:35Speaker 5: very talented, but just to experience his greatness firsthand, I
- 2:38Speaker 5: think it's it's.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I know there are a lot of people out there.
- 2:40Speaker 5: I know, you know, Tom Shaw Miller's big listener here
- 2:43Speaker 5: from England, like, oh god, I hate I hate Argentina
- 2:46Speaker 5: so much. I know a lot of our listeners probably
- 2:47Speaker 5: hate Argentina, so I feel bad. But it was interesting
- 2:51Speaker 5: and fun to just appreciate how great they are as
- 2:54Speaker 5: a as a country in soccer.
- 2:55Speaker 4: I just set the stage for such a cool final too.
- 2:58Speaker 4: I am rooting for Spain and I think they'll win.
- 3:00Speaker 4: I think they've been underrated defensively, but it'll be cool
- 3:04Speaker 4: to see like Messy this legend on his way out,
- 3:08Speaker 4: the young Spanish star, you know, coming in nineteen years
- 3:11Speaker 4: old passing the torch. Maybe not, it's gonna be a
- 3:15Speaker 4: lot of drama.
- 3:16Speaker 5: Yep, you got to lead Spain, finish it off, because man,
- 3:20Speaker 5: these guys, it's just like Brady, you gotta.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Put them down and then you got to put them
- 3:24Speaker 2: down again.
- 3:25Speaker 5: That's right until the clock hits zero, well, sorry, until
- 3:28Speaker 5: the clock hits somewhere in the late nineties, right until
- 3:31Speaker 5: the ref says it's over.
- 3:33Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, yesterday was because I mean it's like
- 3:38Speaker 8: they scored that second goal and extra time and then
- 3:41Speaker 8: so now you know, more time is added, so again
- 3:43Speaker 8: it's like.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Isn't going to get one more chance? You know, you
- 3:46Speaker 1: don't know exactly when.
- 3:47Speaker 4: It's going to end, so it's just that, but you
- 3:48Speaker 4: feel the momentum and right.
- 3:51Speaker 1: It's a strange, unique tension in soccer time.
- 3:54Speaker 4: So it's appreciated.
- 3:55Speaker 1: No, I've come to appreciate a little bit. I mean,
- 3:58Speaker 1: you got to appreciate the weirdness of a little bit.
- 4:00Speaker 4: But we've come so far, like a month and a half.
- 4:03Speaker 2: The high level, I mean, I had I saw a
- 4:05Speaker 2: real Madrid play Juventus here in July. It was a
- 4:08Speaker 2: friendly but it was like, so I've always had appreciation
- 4:12Speaker 2: for when I met Pele when I was a kid,
- 4:14Speaker 2: But I think what I gained here was the appreciation
- 4:18Speaker 2: for the World Cup, for the event, and you know,
- 4:21Speaker 2: like I was, I came. I saw Italy play Nigeria
- 4:25Speaker 2: in ninety four when the World Cup was at Foxboro.
- 4:28Speaker 2: So it's not my first time, but I think the
- 4:31Speaker 2: World Cup has grown in terms of its sleekness and
- 4:35Speaker 2: professionalism and everything, and I got a new appreciation for
- 4:40Speaker 2: the event itself.
- 4:41Speaker 4: What does it rank for you guys within pro sports,
- 4:44Speaker 4: the World Cup?
- 4:45Speaker 2: Well, I think.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Someone asked this earlier if it was better than the
- 4:48Speaker 4: Olympics for you, But for me it is. For me,
- 4:50Speaker 4: it's the kind of the pinnacle, not the Winter Olympics.
- 4:52Speaker 2: It might be the Summer Olympics for me. It depends
- 4:54Speaker 2: on what that given Olympics stories are, because every Olympic
- 5:00Speaker 2: stories emerge. Some I'm interested, some I'm not. Like that
- 5:03Speaker 2: year with Tanya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan. I mean everyone
- 5:07Speaker 2: was glued to the Olympics, you know. And that's the
- 5:09Speaker 2: thing about the Olympics is things like that happen those
- 5:12Speaker 2: kind of stories emerge because it's all different sports in
- 5:16Speaker 2: addition to the different countries, men and women, you know,
- 5:20Speaker 2: different age, you know, so it's ripe for those types
- 5:24Speaker 2: of things to happen. Yeah, I think just if everything's
- 5:30Speaker 2: even I like World Cup better, but the Olympics, you know,
- 5:34Speaker 2: I think when things happen like everybody has to watch.
- 5:38Speaker 5: I think when you see how much this means to
- 5:40Speaker 5: the players and the countries participating.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that to.
- 5:43Speaker 5: Me always, like you know, even like high school state
- 5:45Speaker 5: finals in just about any sport, Like when you know
- 5:48Speaker 5: that the athletes are playing for the pinnacle of where
- 5:50Speaker 5: they're at right now, and certainly this is pinnacle pinnacle
- 5:53Speaker 5: for these guys, it just adds that whole extra energy
- 5:56Speaker 5: that it's like the super Bowl, you know, this is like,
- 5:58Speaker 5: you know, all these players have dreamed about this moment forever,
- 6:01Speaker 5: and you know when when they tied it up yesterday,
- 6:04Speaker 5: I mean, just the reaction of the fan base and
- 6:06Speaker 5: the building, I mean crazy.
- 6:10Speaker 4: While after the second goal, just crying, screaming.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Well, that's the thing. And it's you know, we make
- 6:15Speaker 1: fun of not there not being a lot of scoring in.
- 6:17Speaker 5: Soccer, but when there are goals especially in that kind
- 6:20Speaker 5: of situation, you realize, like it's it's hard to find
- 6:23Speaker 5: something that matters more in a sport than in that moment.
- 6:26Speaker 2: I say, for me, super Bowl still won. I'd say
- 6:29Speaker 2: number two is tennis Grand Slam events like Wimbledon, US Open, uh,
- 6:36Speaker 2: and then like everything else is kind of a tie
- 6:39Speaker 2: because like NBA Finals, World Series and all that, if
- 6:42Speaker 2: the Red Sox aren't in it, or the Celtics aren't
- 6:44Speaker 2: in it, I don't really care that much, you know,
- 6:48Speaker 2: So I would say World Cup might actually be more
- 6:51Speaker 2: interesting to me because it's countries playing countries and it's
- 6:55Speaker 2: each country's best and that's cool.
- 6:58Speaker 5: I think the thing I really enjoyed about it too,
- 7:01Speaker 5: is just to see the level of sportsmanship and the
- 7:03Speaker 5: level of you know, just the respect that these teams.
- 7:06Speaker 5: I mean, certainly yesterday early on it was feisty. I
- 7:09Speaker 5: mean they are not you know, there's no love loss.
- 7:11Speaker 5: But I think it also has been a great demonstration
- 7:14Speaker 5: of what's so great about sports without you know, a
- 7:17Speaker 5: lot of the controversies and all that kind of stuff,
- 7:20Speaker 5: but just really cool environment.
- 7:22Speaker 2: I think that's been the biggest thing.
- 7:23Speaker 5: It's just you know, putting it on the TV and
- 7:25Speaker 5: listening to the crowd and hearing because we watch sports,
- 7:28Speaker 5: you know, for a living, and we know what.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Good crowds sound like. And these crowds are my god.
- 7:32Speaker 1: I mean, I can't imagine what it was like in
- 7:35Speaker 1: that stadium.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Like nothing else, you know, just the tradition of the
- 7:39Speaker 4: different fan bases and like almost like the pageantry of
- 7:43Speaker 4: it too. It's just so fun.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, good times.
- 7:46Speaker 5: Speig Final Sunday, though, I'm gonna have to watch that one, yep.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Okay. So we've got emails coming in at podcasts at
- 7:55Speaker 2: Patriots dot com. The way to call us is eight
- 7:58Speaker 2: five to five Pats five hundred. Barton Poland, frequent emailer
- 8:04Speaker 2: and lover of soccer, says ionistly couldn't have asked for
- 8:10Speaker 2: a better final. Spain is the perfect counter argument to
- 8:13Speaker 2: the whole if only your best athletes chose soccer narrative.
- 8:17Speaker 2: France was loaded with physically superior players, bigger, faster, stronger,
- 8:21Speaker 2: yet they barely influenced the game because Spain completely controlled
- 8:25Speaker 2: it with technique, composure, positioning, and intelligence. It was domination
- 8:30Speaker 2: in every sense of the world word. For anyone who
- 8:34Speaker 2: didn't watch the twenty twenty two World Cup final. This
- 8:36Speaker 2: game looked remarkably similar until around the eightieth minute. France
- 8:40Speaker 2: was completely outplayed then as well. If not for Outomende's
- 8:46Speaker 2: unnecessary foul, the entire and Boppy scored a hat trick
- 8:50Speaker 2: in a World Cup final. Legend might never have existed
- 8:53Speaker 2: because that penalty was what brought France back into the match,
- 8:57Speaker 2: and England's semifinal was another perfect example of an old
- 9:00Speaker 2: football cliche that NFL fans know well. Prevent defense only
- 9:04Speaker 2: prevents you from winning the moment you stop trying to
- 9:07Speaker 2: play and start trying not to lose. You invite pressure
- 9:11Speaker 2: and give your opponent hope. I agree, but it seems
- 9:14Speaker 2: all teams do that at the end, and I wonder why.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I wonder, like when a decent team does push forward
- 9:23Speaker 2: like that, you know, being trying to counter that risks
- 9:28Speaker 2: too much, Like you really leave yourself open so you can't.
- 9:33Speaker 2: I don't know. I'd love to have somebody like a
- 9:35Speaker 2: Brad Felman or somebody like that school me on why England,
- 9:41Speaker 2: you know, didn't even try to go on offense.
- 9:45Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, you need like an evident to tell
- 9:47Speaker 5: you schematically did they change something?
- 9:49Speaker 1: I'm not smart enough in the ways they did.
- 9:51Speaker 4: They summed out a midfielder for another defender and started
- 9:55Speaker 4: playing a heavier back set. And it's also a mental
- 9:58Speaker 4: thing too, you know, like so they change their technique.
- 10:02Speaker 4: But also it's so frantic you have Argentina, Like it's
- 10:05Speaker 4: like how Atlanta. I remember that those clips from the
- 10:08Speaker 4: Super Bowl where someone like they're kind of celebrating and
- 10:11Speaker 4: so I forget which player and goes, that's Tom Brady
- 10:13Speaker 4: over there, that's Leonel Messi over there exactly.
- 10:16Speaker 2: So like the way I'm thinking is that, you know,
- 10:19Speaker 2: if you're playing a bad team, okay, you get a lead,
- 10:22Speaker 2: just you know, just make sure you don't lose it.
- 10:24Speaker 2: But when you're playing a team with talent like Argentina,
- 10:27Speaker 2: it just seems to me, if you have the ball,
- 10:30Speaker 2: if if you know, if England had the ball like
- 10:33Speaker 2: even thirty percent of the time, that's thirty percent of
- 10:36Speaker 2: the time that Argentina can't score. As it was, they
- 10:39Speaker 2: basically had the ball one hundred percent of the time
- 10:42Speaker 2: for half an hour, of course they're going to score.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:45Speaker 2: I don't care how tall Burns is or what stones
- 10:49Speaker 2: back there or whatever. You know, it was just inevitable
- 10:53Speaker 2: that they were going to score.
- 10:54Speaker 5: All those I mean, you had like two saves that
- 10:56Speaker 5: were just like, right, oh my god, you know, crazy saves,
- 11:00Speaker 5: and so you knew it was just it felt like
- 11:02Speaker 5: a matter of time to me, and that's what.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I think was exciting.
- 11:04Speaker 5: I didn't watch as much of the France game the
- 11:07Speaker 5: day before, so I but I feel.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Like I've threaded the needle with some really good matches
- 11:12Speaker 1: this year. Did I just call it a match? I did?
- 11:14Speaker 2: Wow? Thehea well. As I said in the last show,
- 11:19Speaker 2: a lot of people wanted to educate Paul for his
- 11:22Speaker 2: take that you know, soccer has to change everything. Well,
- 11:26Speaker 2: actually soccer was first. So it's really America that changed
- 11:31Speaker 2: everything with soccer, you know, which is a fair point
- 11:34Speaker 2: and an accurate one.
- 11:36Speaker 5: Now I've enjoyed it, and especially with the timing, with
- 11:38Speaker 5: the sports lull in professional sports right now in North Maydia,
- 11:41Speaker 5: you know, it's a great, great timing. You've got captive audience.
- 11:44Speaker 5: Nothing really else.
- 11:46Speaker 4: You guys watched the Euro in two years?
- 11:49Speaker 5: No, probably not, but I did say I will. I
- 11:51Speaker 5: will be more interested next time the World Cup comes around.
- 11:54Speaker 5: I just feel a little bit more knowledge of it.
- 11:56Speaker 5: I mean, Holland will probably still be around. I'm sure
- 11:59Speaker 5: he's young enough for that, and to me he was
- 12:01Speaker 5: such a a standout.
- 12:03Speaker 2: To the Olympics also has their brand of the World Cup. Right,
- 12:06Speaker 2: do the same players, like do the best of the
- 12:09Speaker 2: best play on.
- 12:09Speaker 4: The their country?
- 12:10Speaker 7: Do they?
- 12:11Speaker 2: Or do they kind of opt out? Yeah?
- 12:13Speaker 4: They often do sometimes, well.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Sometimes or all the time.
- 12:17Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 12:17Speaker 1: No, it's not as big as a deal the World
- 12:19Speaker 1: Cup though.
- 12:19Speaker 2: That's no, it's not as big. But it's supposedly the
- 12:25Speaker 2: best of each country playing each other in a soccer tournament, right.
- 12:29Speaker 4: I never really thought about I guess the difference. But
- 12:32Speaker 4: it's kind of funny tying it back to the conversation
- 12:34Speaker 4: we just had about the biggest sporting event that there is,
- 12:37Speaker 4: Like it really is the World Cup, even over the Olympics.
- 12:40Speaker 4: It feels like to a lot of the world, Oh.
- 12:42Speaker 2: No, doubt, Yeah, yeah, I mean doubt.
- 12:44Speaker 5: To me, it's it's you know, getting to know the
- 12:46Speaker 5: stars a little bit more. And we all know MESSI,
- 12:47Speaker 5: even the most casual, casual fans, but you know, the
- 12:50Speaker 5: more of these guys that you become familiar with, and
- 12:52Speaker 5: then you know, even for a casual like myself.
- 12:55Speaker 2: To turn on a World Cup.
- 12:57Speaker 5: Game and Holland just jumps off the field. I mean
- 12:59Speaker 5: it's like, who is this guy? I mean, you don't
- 13:02Speaker 5: need to be a soccer expert to know that that
- 13:04Speaker 5: that guy is really talented. Same thing with MESSI when
- 13:06Speaker 5: I remember first seeing him being like, this guy's unreal the.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Way the ball sticks to his feet.
- 13:10Speaker 5: So the more of those kind of guys that they
- 13:12Speaker 5: can put in front of people who are like me
- 13:14Speaker 5: or casuals, I think that that's great for the game.
- 13:16Speaker 4: And this year it felt like more than ever Fiva
- 13:19Speaker 4: was throwing it stars at you, like online on social media,
- 13:22Speaker 4: the team's accounts, the national team accounts themselves are really
- 13:25Speaker 4: building up their stars and making fun content with them.
- 13:28Speaker 4: So it's cool to see how the media side of
- 13:31Speaker 4: it really evolves as the sport becomes more popular here.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Now there are some sports getting back to that Olympic
- 13:38Speaker 2: discussion where the Olympics are the biggest thing, Like I
- 13:41Speaker 2: would say gymnastics, Like there's the World Championships of Gymnastics.
- 13:46Speaker 2: They have that, but I think it's not.
- 13:48Speaker 4: As big as winning.
- 13:49Speaker 2: A goal in the Olympics.
- 13:50Speaker 4: Yeah, a lot of the individual sports I would say,
- 13:53Speaker 4: save for like maybe golf, yeah, a lot of the tennis,
- 13:57Speaker 4: but a lot of a lot of other individual sports,
- 13:59Speaker 4: the niche ones.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, but all those sports have their own
- 14:02Speaker 2: World championship of course, but the Olympics is more prestigious
- 14:06Speaker 2: to win. And then the team.
- 14:07Speaker 4: About just playing for your country instead of just like
- 14:11Speaker 4: so you still are at worlds.
- 14:13Speaker 1: I mean, the team sports is weird.
- 14:15Speaker 4: I guess it's the medal is the is it the.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Olympics medal and just the fact that you know, it's
- 14:20Speaker 2: on all the networks and more people are watching, you know,
- 14:24Speaker 2: like I don't even know when the World Championship downhill
- 14:27Speaker 2: skiing event is, but in the Olympics obviously more people
- 14:32Speaker 2: are watching.
- 14:33Speaker 5: Then the team sports have like these weird things where
- 14:36Speaker 5: now professional athletes can play them and it's not the
- 14:39Speaker 5: Stanley Cup or the NBA Championship, but they want to
- 14:42Speaker 5: play for their country. And I still think I kind
- 14:45Speaker 5: of prefer the amateurs. And maybe not in basketball because
- 14:49Speaker 5: I'm not a huge basketball fan, but I like the
- 14:50Speaker 5: hockey better when it was you know, young amateur kids
- 14:53Speaker 5: and find you know, that next level of guys and
- 14:56Speaker 5: you know that to me, the pros just feels like
- 14:58Speaker 5: it's kind of a weird all star game.
- 15:00Speaker 1: And I know that they, you know, are competitive.
- 15:03Speaker 5: About it, but it just doesn't have the same choice
- 15:05Speaker 5: to me as the championship of the NBA, the championship
- 15:08Speaker 5: of the NFL, or you know those kind of things.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Yep.
- 15:11Speaker 4: But then it's interesting because what about like the women's
- 15:14Speaker 4: Olympic soccer team and stuff, Like you do see those
- 15:17Speaker 4: stars in the Olympics and that's probably their pace, and
- 15:21Speaker 4: like how do you change it where you say, like
- 15:23Speaker 4: the NHL just send your amateurs, but like we're going
- 15:26Speaker 4: to send our best women's soccer team or we're going
- 15:29Speaker 4: to send our NBA team, Like how from sport to sport?
- 15:32Speaker 4: How do you decipher?
- 15:33Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know, it's it's I like, I mean,
- 15:37Speaker 5: there's just like the eighty Olympic team is always like
- 15:39Speaker 5: the standard of you know, but it's really complicated now
- 15:41Speaker 5: and even college kids are getting paid, so what you know,
- 15:44Speaker 5: what isn't isn't amateur anymore. But you know, for women's
- 15:49Speaker 5: hockey and for women's soccer, like those are a little
- 15:52Speaker 5: bit you know, bigger deal I think on the national
- 15:54Speaker 5: stage for it because I remember, you know when the
- 15:56Speaker 5: women's soccer team and it's I mean, it's always what
- 15:58Speaker 5: them and China always but.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Those, you know, those ones, maybe those can continue to grow.
- 16:03Speaker 2: It yep, so little known fact. But back in the day,
- 16:09Speaker 2: I was still working here. But uh, guy that also
- 16:13Speaker 2: worked with me, Trent Adams, we started a company called
- 16:16Speaker 2: Binary Pro and the idea was we were going to
- 16:20Speaker 2: help sports teams stream live events. And so we were
- 16:25Speaker 2: the first people to stream a live sporting event on
- 16:31Speaker 2: the Internet that was actually going to be used for
- 16:33Speaker 2: broadcast later. In other words, back then, this is the
- 16:36Speaker 2: early days in their late nineties, things were on TV
- 16:40Speaker 2: first and then you put them on the internet. This
- 16:42Speaker 2: was on the internet first. And so we had the
- 16:44Speaker 2: World Championship short Track speed skating event and it was
- 16:48Speaker 2: right down the street here at the Arena Pyoria Arena,
- 16:52Speaker 2: and you know, we got the gig to stream that
- 16:55Speaker 2: live and we had people all over the world in
- 16:58Speaker 2: their chat and while they're watching this little thing, and
- 17:01Speaker 2: you know, it was rude ement. You know, it was
- 17:04Speaker 2: like Caveman compared to what streaming is like now. But
- 17:08Speaker 2: we were the first to do that.
- 17:10Speaker 4: How long in the world, How long were you running that.
- 17:13Speaker 2: A couple of years, never really took off. You know,
- 17:16Speaker 2: we had this job too, but we did actually did
- 17:20Speaker 2: something for the Dolphins. We went down there and and.
- 17:22Speaker 4: So you weren't just targeting niche sports.
- 17:24Speaker 2: We produced a it was like a I don't know
- 17:27Speaker 2: if it was some type of dinner that they were having,
- 17:30Speaker 2: some awards night thing and we did that live for them.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Division rival video on the internet.
- 17:35Speaker 2: It's a future we did. We did, uh. You know,
- 17:40Speaker 2: we did our Cheerleader Audition pay per view event. We
- 17:45Speaker 2: were like Victoria's Secret was I think the first to
- 17:48Speaker 2: do it, but we came right after them and did
- 17:50Speaker 2: a cheerleader audition pay per view event.
- 17:54Speaker 4: Honestly, really smart.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Honey, what's this bill on the.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Yeah? So that that was pretty I forgot until we
- 18:02Speaker 2: had this discussion. I forget all about the short Track
- 18:05Speaker 2: World Championships that we did.
- 18:06Speaker 5: It stressed me out though, because I've been in that
- 18:08Speaker 5: rink and I know that it is a black hole
- 18:10Speaker 5: for signals.
- 18:12Speaker 2: How we had a mac room with all our set up.
- 18:17Speaker 2: We had Eric Flame. Eric Flame was part of our company, uh,
- 18:22Speaker 2: and he was like the commentator doing it, uh. And
- 18:27Speaker 2: we went out the three of us. Trent, myself and
- 18:30Speaker 2: Eric Flame and Rob Kramer went out to uh Colorado Springs.
- 18:35Speaker 2: We met with all the national governing bodies of the
- 18:37Speaker 2: Olympic teams that were out there, because what we were
- 18:39Speaker 2: trying to do is get all of them to be
- 18:42Speaker 2: on board with us and then we would get all
- 18:45Speaker 2: the n GB things. You know, we couldn't get that
- 18:48Speaker 2: deal done. It's like hurting cats out there.
- 18:51Speaker 4: But you might have been a little ahead of your
- 18:53Speaker 4: time with them.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely ahead of our time.
- 18:56Speaker 4: I mean, what was your because now that's the private
- 18:59Speaker 4: equity model right now with some of those companies where
- 19:02Speaker 4: they're not letting parents even film at their own kids
- 19:05Speaker 4: games because they're streaming the content.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Yeah, oh my dad would have thought somebody about that.
- 19:10Speaker 4: But that's how that's how like some legislature came about
- 19:14Speaker 4: because they told like a senator or a congressman that
- 19:16Speaker 4: they he couldn't film at his son's hockey game. So
- 19:19Speaker 4: he's like, I'm going to make what you're doing illegal.
- 19:21Speaker 7: So funny.
- 19:22Speaker 5: I mean, when did it first hit you, fad the
- 19:23Speaker 5: video would come to the internet. I mean I always
- 19:25Speaker 5: just I always think of my first experience with the internet,
- 19:28Speaker 5: with somebody hooking me and well, I can tell sports
- 19:30Speaker 5: scores immediately, But like.
- 19:31Speaker 1: How quick did you realize video would be?
- 19:32Speaker 2: I mean, I kind of knew, but I'll tell you
- 19:34Speaker 2: Jonathan Kraft, it was probably nineteen in the nineteen ninety six,
- 19:39Speaker 2: maybe sitting at home. It's eleven o'clock at night. He's
- 19:43Speaker 2: on his treadmill. He's like, I want to do live video.
- 19:48Speaker 2: And I'm like, you know, and I'm like, okay, I
- 19:52Speaker 2: don't know how to do it. It was this, I mean,
- 19:54Speaker 2: we were we were doing live audio press conferences, but
- 19:57Speaker 2: we were nobody was doing video. Yeah, so you know
- 20:01Speaker 2: this is an old story. You guys might have heard this.
- 20:03Speaker 2: I got on the phone and started calling around and
- 20:06Speaker 2: I called this one company called audio Net out of Dallas.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Mark Mark Cuban picks up the phone and me and
- 20:14Speaker 2: I'm talking to Mark Cuban and I'm explaining what we
- 20:17Speaker 2: want to do in and it's like, well, yeah, we
- 20:19Speaker 2: do audio. I'm like, no, we want to do we
- 20:21Speaker 2: want to do video. He sent people up to meet
- 20:24Speaker 2: with us to understand exactly what we wanted to do.
- 20:27Speaker 2: In the meantime, I found this company out of Cambridge.
- 20:31Speaker 2: It was an offshoot of MIT and they were they
- 20:35Speaker 2: were doing it. They were kind of doing it, and
- 20:38Speaker 2: we hired them that first year to help us do it,
- 20:40Speaker 2: and then I ended up hiring the guy that really
- 20:44Speaker 2: was the brains behind it. We stole him from them.
- 20:46Speaker 2: They weren't happy, Trent, and he came to work with
- 20:50Speaker 2: us full time and the rest is history. But we
- 20:53Speaker 2: you know, we were the first ones to do a
- 20:56Speaker 2: nightly made for the Internet video show called Cyber Sideline
- 20:59Speaker 2: Patriots Side with Sideline. We were the first team to
- 21:02Speaker 2: do a live postgame show. We did it under the
- 21:04Speaker 2: bleachers at Mile High Stadium after a Monday night football game.
- 21:09Speaker 2: You know, so we did a lot of those things first.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:11Speaker 2: Yeah, Jonathan Krab he he you know, like if your
- 21:14Speaker 2: owner doesn't want to do this stuff or doesn't get it,
- 21:17Speaker 2: it's hard to get it going. He knew that this
- 21:20Speaker 2: was going to be big. So if you have your
- 21:23Speaker 2: owners backing, it's easy.
- 21:25Speaker 4: And if the owner is willing to hire like a
- 21:28Speaker 4: really good team around him, not just yes men like
- 21:30Speaker 4: you and like this Trent guy, you know, like that's
- 21:33Speaker 4: a big part of it.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean Trent was a freak, I mean literally
- 21:37Speaker 2: an astrophysicist Mit. Yeah, well he didn't go to MIT.
- 21:42Speaker 4: But he was working there.
- 21:43Speaker 2: No, he was working for the company that was from
- 21:45Speaker 2: MI I T. Yeah, but he and his brother are
- 21:48Speaker 2: just like freaking geniuses. He was also had a small
- 21:53Speaker 2: role in a Star Wars movie. Yeah, how about that? Yeah,
- 21:58Speaker 2: which is even more impressive.
- 21:59Speaker 1: I'd be to me cool.
- 22:02Speaker 5: It's funny how it comes full circle that I just saw, right,
- 22:06Speaker 5: that's right, just the video podcast edition.
- 22:08Speaker 2: I saw something on on LinkedIn.
- 22:09Speaker 5: Where they were it was a CIA posted it CA
- 22:13Speaker 5: sports just saying how critical it is if you have
- 22:15Speaker 5: a podcast to have a video presence, and you know something,
- 22:18Speaker 5: we've gone transition, We've gone through through the past five
- 22:20Speaker 5: years or so, you know, just saying how easy it
- 22:23Speaker 5: is to clip things off. It's easily transferable to the
- 22:25Speaker 5: different social media sources.
- 22:27Speaker 1: So you know, now here.
- 22:28Speaker 4: We are the days of us doing a show where
- 22:30Speaker 4: only Thursday was on video. I remember that that was
- 22:33Speaker 4: only like three years ago, three four years.
- 22:36Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, and now look at us hello YouTube barely
- 22:40Speaker 5: remember that?
- 22:41Speaker 2: All right. So there's a little uh history, little history there.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Fun yeah, and if you want more of that, go
- 22:48Speaker 2: watch my new UH podcast.
- 22:50Speaker 4: It's going to becoming We're gonna be talking about that
- 22:52Speaker 4: stuff too. You're you're trailblazing and digital media.
- 22:55Speaker 2: I'm talking about that kind of that's kind of stuff,
- 22:57Speaker 2: you know. So Brett writes in he wants more of
- 23:02Speaker 2: the story of me. He spells my name ka A
- 23:05Speaker 2: R S C H. Yeah. We know that some the
- 23:09Speaker 2: sometime in New Jersey, sometime on the cave. Then there's
- 23:12Speaker 2: stories of Fred at Emerson and living in Boston during
- 23:14Speaker 2: the college years. We know about Richie Campanella and other
- 23:18Speaker 2: resorted characters, and the sports magazine he proposed or wrote.
- 23:22Speaker 2: And we know there was time spent in Saint Thomas
- 23:25Speaker 2: and I believe Water Island. That's right, hopefully no time
- 23:27Speaker 2: on little Saint James Island. Where's that? Is that a
- 23:30Speaker 2: bad place? I don't know. Oh that's Epstein Island. Yeah no,
- 23:35Speaker 2: But we don't know the timeframe of all of this.
- 23:37Speaker 2: I know the US virgin Island was after college. Was
- 23:40Speaker 2: New Jersey the start? Or did you move from Master
- 23:42Speaker 2: to New Jersey first? Give us the breakdown. I'd rather
- 23:45Speaker 2: your biography than more soccer, basketball, tennis, or baseball.
- 23:49Speaker 4: I agree. I love hearing that stuff about you and
- 23:52Speaker 4: Jonathan kind of like creating a website in like I
- 23:56Speaker 4: don't know, figuring it out. You guys are really innovative elevator.
- 24:00Speaker 2: I miss that. I do. I feel like, not just us,
- 24:03Speaker 2: but like kind of that thing it has plateau. There's
- 24:09Speaker 2: not really a lot of cool new things. Well AI
- 24:13Speaker 2: could be how we'll see what happens with AI. But
- 24:17Speaker 2: the things that are coming out now that are new
- 24:20Speaker 2: are really commercial stuff, like you know, all the Netflix
- 24:24Speaker 2: and the huluah and all that stuff, and that's newish,
- 24:28Speaker 2: but it's.
- 24:29Speaker 4: Just it's not I love virtual it's.
- 24:32Speaker 2: More innovative in terms of just making money. You know.
- 24:35Speaker 4: I thought virtual reality might take off a little bit
- 24:38Speaker 4: with like sports and sports consumption, maybe more so than
- 24:41Speaker 4: it has already. But it kind of feels like that
- 24:44Speaker 4: wave hit and it was big, but then the AI
- 24:47Speaker 4: wave hit.
- 24:48Speaker 3: And kind of, yeah, we'll come back once they have
- 24:51Speaker 3: goggles out our glass.
- 24:53Speaker 2: That's a good point because I was always bullish on
- 24:55Speaker 2: wearables in terms of like you know, when Google Glass
- 24:58Speaker 2: first came out. Google came here, and we were ready
- 25:01Speaker 2: to go. We had content ready for the Google glasses,
- 25:06Speaker 2: but the price point and everything they never caught on
- 25:11Speaker 2: and you know, I have a pair of metal glasses now,
- 25:13Speaker 2: but there's no heads up display. Well, the new version does,
- 25:17Speaker 2: but it's very rudimentary if somebody gets that right in
- 25:21Speaker 2: terms of it's got to be weatherproof, you've got to
- 25:23Speaker 2: be able to have prescription lenses in it, and the
- 25:25Speaker 2: battery life has to be good. I think that's a
- 25:28Speaker 2: perfect thing to wear at a sporting event, you know,
- 25:31Speaker 2: where you can be hands free and you can be
- 25:34Speaker 2: watching the event and you know, with voice commands say
- 25:37Speaker 2: give me this guy's stat or who just came in
- 25:40Speaker 2: the game, or you know whatever, like you're able to
- 25:43Speaker 2: get additive information to what you're watching without having to
- 25:48Speaker 2: look down. I can still be watching the game and
- 25:51Speaker 2: still get stuff.
- 25:52Speaker 4: And also imagine being able to then sit down in
- 25:55Speaker 4: your living room or really anywhere in the world. But oh,
- 25:59Speaker 4: the Super Bowls go going on. I want to pay
- 26:01Speaker 4: for a package that lets me sit at the fifty
- 26:03Speaker 4: yard line in the first row and make me feel
- 26:06Speaker 4: like I'm there and immersed in that exce They have that,
- 26:09Speaker 4: but it's like, who's yeah.
- 26:11Speaker 2: You know, I've met with many companies that we're doing that.
- 26:16Speaker 2: It's particularly at NBA games and you know, they'd have
- 26:19Speaker 2: a space where they'd have this. There's different form factors,
- 26:22Speaker 2: but one was like a ball that had all these
- 26:25Speaker 2: lenses around it, and each lens had its own card slot,
- 26:29Speaker 2: and so yes, you know you'd have somebody controlling it,
- 26:32Speaker 2: and you know you could you could log onto that
- 26:37Speaker 2: and catch it live and then after the event they
- 26:40Speaker 2: would take all the cards out and then create this
- 26:42Speaker 2: really cool thing. But again it just didn't catch on.
- 26:46Speaker 2: There's not enough people that want to do that. It's
- 26:49Speaker 2: going to be funny to go from.
- 26:50Speaker 5: And it's really starting to bug me now, like I'm
- 26:52Speaker 5: really becoming I don't know if it's just I'm becoming
- 26:54Speaker 5: an old man or what. But like if I'm in
- 26:55Speaker 5: a room and I look around and everyone is like this, yeah,
- 26:59Speaker 5: I like I don't even feel this revulsion of just
- 27:01Speaker 5: like I'm going to just sit here and.
- 27:03Speaker 2: Not look at my phone.
- 27:04Speaker 5: Yeah, But then you get to that point where it's like,
- 27:06Speaker 5: you know, you're having a conversation with someone you think
- 27:08Speaker 5: they're paying attention to, you know, they're like watching a
- 27:10Speaker 5: movie through their classes.
- 27:11Speaker 1: You know, sorry, it was just on Wikipedia looking at
- 27:14Speaker 1: what did you say?
- 27:14Speaker 5: You know, like, I don't know, I there's a certain
- 27:17Speaker 5: level of me that's like getting to like, I'm so
- 27:20Speaker 5: I just can't handle it anymore when everybody's just all
- 27:23Speaker 5: on their phones and I and I try to like
- 27:25Speaker 5: compare it to like back in like you know, olden
- 27:27Speaker 5: times where people are sitting around like at night, like
- 27:29Speaker 5: reading books. So is it the same thing as that,
- 27:31Speaker 5: like if we're all sitting here in the quiet, and
- 27:33Speaker 5: you know, you can take Pano lessons and as you know,
- 27:36Speaker 5: when you're reading your book, like it's I guess it's
- 27:38Speaker 5: the same thing, but yeah, I don't know.
- 27:40Speaker 4: It's just feels the same impact on your.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Reading requires you to create imagery and it makes you use,
- 27:50Speaker 2: i think, more of your brain.
- 27:51Speaker 4: You measured your brain waves when you were reading a
- 27:53Speaker 4: book compared to when you were doom scrolling, doom scrolling
- 27:56Speaker 4: would look like you were Yeah, no.
- 27:58Speaker 1: It's fair.
- 27:58Speaker 5: I mean, I just like the actual physical placement and
- 28:01Speaker 5: everybody it's kind of the same.
- 28:02Speaker 1: We're all just sitting there looking down into our hand.
- 28:04Speaker 2: But I don't know, man, It's.
- 28:05Speaker 4: Just I love a second screen when I'm watching sports.
- 28:09Speaker 4: But I love a second nothing else, nothing else.
- 28:13Speaker 5: I'm just I'm like, I'm barely paying attention to the TV,
- 28:17Speaker 5: like I'm just into my phone and you know, I
- 28:20Speaker 5: don't know.
- 28:20Speaker 1: It's it's getting worse.
- 28:22Speaker 2: There's a great photo it's out of England and I
- 28:25Speaker 2: think you know the it's a parade and I think
- 28:27Speaker 2: you know the Queen is this is back when the
- 28:29Speaker 2: Queen was alive and she's going by and it shows
- 28:33Speaker 2: everybody lined up and everybody's either on their phone or
- 28:36Speaker 2: you know, or recording it. For one old lady, she's
- 28:40Speaker 2: the only one paying in the moment.
- 28:41Speaker 4: I'm like, yes, I saw that, exactly what you're talking about.
- 28:45Speaker 4: That's like why, like the Masters, you can't bring your phone.
- 28:50Speaker 4: All the photos of those actually look like timeless photos,
- 28:53Speaker 4: you know, because not everyone's just the whole gallery has
- 28:57Speaker 4: like an iPhone, you know.
- 28:59Speaker 2: Yeah, And you might say, well, I'm still watching, I'm
- 29:01Speaker 2: just taking. You're not You're not in the moment like
- 29:05Speaker 2: you would. Yeah, if it was just you and the event,
- 29:09Speaker 2: Like there's this thing in between you and the event
- 29:11Speaker 2: that you are looking through. It's not the same.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Do you actually go.
- 29:15Speaker 5: Back and watch the videos you take from events like
- 29:17Speaker 5: I don't. As an example, like the NOA Kahn concert,
- 29:19Speaker 5: Like somebody there like, oh, this was a great song.
- 29:22Speaker 5: I'm gonna watch the full three minutes of that song
- 29:25Speaker 5: that he played at Fenway from my phone and I
- 29:27Speaker 5: recorded the like, I don't.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Go back to that.
- 29:29Speaker 2: I'm convinced that the people who do that, they don't
- 29:31Speaker 2: do it for themselves. They do it to show other people. Yeah,
- 29:33Speaker 2: well look at what I have for sure.
- 29:35Speaker 4: I've gone back to videos of like a John Mayer
- 29:38Speaker 4: concert where he's kind of just riffing, you know, and yeah, exactly,
- 29:43Speaker 4: he's doing John stuff, And like, I've definitely gone back
- 29:45Speaker 4: to stuff like that. I remember getting David Ortiz Grand
- 29:50Speaker 4: Slam in his final season, like from the brand stand on.
- 29:54Speaker 4: I've watched that back. But like, other than that, not right,
- 29:57Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 29:58Speaker 9: I do watch Conscience back, so I must be a loser.
- 30:00Speaker 9: I'd like Nelly at Super Bowl. I se videos a
- 30:03Speaker 9: couple of times.
- 30:04Speaker 4: Something I've watched post Malone once back too.
- 30:08Speaker 3: But olymp Biscuit concerts, eminem, I watched all these videos again.
- 30:11Speaker 4: That reminds me that the PGA Tour did a pretty
- 30:13Speaker 4: cool piece of content years ago. I was still in college,
- 30:15Speaker 4: but I was part of it because I went to
- 30:17Speaker 4: the Travelers and Jordan Speith won the tournament by holing
- 30:22Speaker 4: out in like a playoff, and I had a really
- 30:25Speaker 4: sick video. It went viral. The PGA Tour used it
- 30:28Speaker 4: and then they invited me to go back to Cromwell
- 30:30Speaker 4: to TPC River Highlands to shoot a feature. They were
- 30:33Speaker 4: doing really on that shot from the perspective of all
- 30:36Speaker 4: the fans that had viral videos all the way because
- 30:39Speaker 4: the eighteenth green there is kind of like a fish bowl.
- 30:42Speaker 4: There's stands. It's a great, great tournament. I love the
- 30:44Speaker 4: Travelers Championship, but it was a cool piece of content
- 30:47Speaker 4: because they did the feature on Jordan and it was
- 30:50Speaker 4: like encapsulating all the perspectives and views from all around
- 30:54Speaker 4: the shot, all the people that caught it, everyone's own
- 30:57Speaker 4: personal attachment to that tournament and the way it's like
- 31:00Speaker 4: evolved over the years. So it's really cool.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Makes you wonder what would happen to the JFK. Not
- 31:04Speaker 1: to bring it to.
- 31:05Speaker 7: But the.
- 31:09Speaker 4: Season show. So we've got any films.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Would there have been like there would have been God,
- 31:13Speaker 1: would be really hard to.
- 31:14Speaker 5: Suppress if it was, you know, if it wasn't inside Job,
- 31:17Speaker 5: I don't that would that.
- 31:18Speaker 2: Have been unbelievable or even.
- 31:21Speaker 5: Jack One, you know, Abraham Lincoln, like you know, like.
- 31:27Speaker 4: How many people they was the theater, right, so everyone
- 31:30Speaker 4: would have been recording at the theater.
- 31:32Speaker 5: That should be like a thing where they remake like
- 31:35Speaker 5: past events. That would have been so funny if everyone
- 31:38Speaker 5: had a phone. It's Stone Wilkes Booth crashes to the
- 31:43Speaker 5: stage and you know it's the moon land instead of
- 31:46Speaker 5: a golf clubs the American flag.
- 31:51Speaker 2: He's got the earth background.
- 31:54Speaker 1: How they do right?
- 31:56Speaker 5: They hold it up doing like the little leg kick thing,
- 31:58Speaker 5: you know, like everybody does when they pose and outfit
- 32:01Speaker 5: like right.
- 32:02Speaker 4: Fit check, coming me to the moon, Get ready with
- 32:07Speaker 4: me to go to the moon, Get ready.
- 32:10Speaker 2: To go with you?
- 32:11Speaker 1: I love a wizard name.
- 32:12Speaker 5: Eliza Sassenger does a lot of those videos where she
- 32:14Speaker 5: makes fun of influencers where yeah, you know compilation, yeah
- 32:18Speaker 5: at Costco and I'm gonna get my theater. They do
- 32:20Speaker 5: that narration of like all the influencer things are gonna
- 32:22Speaker 5: get there. Pretty funny.
- 32:23Speaker 1: But it's becoming a whole new like genre.
- 32:26Speaker 5: And you know vertical video now, which is completely outside
- 32:30Speaker 5: the realm of anything that you know, I mean, it
- 32:32Speaker 5: used to always be like a widescreen and you know
- 32:35Speaker 5: it's standard definition, and now you have probably a full
- 32:38Speaker 5: movies shot.
- 32:39Speaker 1: You know, vertical you know vertical videos.
- 32:42Speaker 2: It's crazy change, John says in Louisiana, Freddie, you being
- 32:47Speaker 2: serious about this new podcast you're gonna do? If so,
- 32:50Speaker 2: what's your Twitter handle? I'll give you a follow so
- 32:52Speaker 2: I can be updated. Also, should I lie about not
- 32:54Speaker 2: getting my Patriots unfiltered? Sure to get a new one
- 32:57Speaker 2: like the other callers do. Oh oh, we think there's
- 33:01Speaker 2: a little fraud going on, do we think? So your
- 33:07Speaker 2: shirt size and take your chance.
- 33:09Speaker 4: People are getting on ozembic and they need new sizes
- 33:11Speaker 4: or something.
- 33:12Speaker 2: But I'm not lying about the podcast. We're filming our
- 33:16Speaker 2: first episode on Sunday.
- 33:18Speaker 5: So are you gonna do like social media like like
- 33:20Speaker 5: if I was starting right now.
- 33:24Speaker 2: No, it's gonna be on YouTube, just YouTube YouTube. I mean,
- 33:27Speaker 2: I'll promote it on Twitter with your Twitter. Yeah, I
- 33:30Speaker 2: think I don't spread underscore curseh is my handle? Yeah yeah,
- 33:38Speaker 2: so no, I'll promote it there and hopefully we're going
- 33:41Speaker 2: to have one a week, but we'll see. But just
- 33:44Speaker 2: just so you know, it's not exactly like this show.
- 33:47Speaker 2: We're not gonna be talking Patriots and not really a
- 33:52Speaker 2: lot of sports. Uh, it's a lot of like owning
- 33:55Speaker 2: a home, do it yourself, you know, gear reviews, tool reviews,
- 34:01Speaker 2: how to do stuff, how not to do stuff, you know,
- 34:04Speaker 2: things that we've failed at. But then we'll also talk
- 34:06Speaker 2: about the UFOs and conspiracy theories and and all that stuff.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Do a show just it's two guys who know each other,
- 34:14Speaker 2: and you know, I think you.
- 34:17Speaker 5: Know each other as you know a homeowner not too
- 34:19Speaker 5: long ago about house, but you need like these are
- 34:22Speaker 5: the core group of tools you need for a house, right,
- 34:24Speaker 5: core group you know, like these are the you have set, Yeah,
- 34:27Speaker 5: the hammers that you know, just all the little things
- 34:29Speaker 5: because there's a lot of things that I've acquired over there,
- 34:31Speaker 5: like this is great, Like I have one of those
- 34:32Speaker 5: extenders where you pull the cord to cut limbs and stuff,
- 34:34Speaker 5: like it's invaluable to me, you know, but it's never
- 34:37Speaker 5: id like, oh this exists, like.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Everyone has trees. Right, No, that's so fair.
- 34:41Speaker 1: It wouldn't be in the court.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Your top ten have to be like everybody needs this,
- 34:45Speaker 2: and then you get into Okay, if you have a
- 34:47Speaker 2: big lawn, you need this. If you have trees. You
- 34:50Speaker 2: need this, you know. But then there's that there's those
- 34:52Speaker 2: top ten tools that every homeowner must have. Yeah yeah,
- 34:57Speaker 2: I mean, so we'll do stuff like that. I love
- 34:59Speaker 2: it it.
- 35:00Speaker 1: I could have used it.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Yeah anyway, anyway, all right, yeah.
- 35:06Speaker 5: You want to give you guys some Patriots stuff. I mean,
- 35:08Speaker 5: I know that the fans probably like it. And I
- 35:10Speaker 5: today was the day where I kind of I look
- 35:12Speaker 5: ahead to my twenty twenty seven depth chart on my
- 35:15Speaker 5: nerd thing, but spreadsheets, just some thoughts that I had
- 35:18Speaker 5: as I put in, you know what guys are gonna
- 35:20Speaker 5: be up for, you know, contracts next year, and it
- 35:23Speaker 5: just made me think, you know, this year, they didn't
- 35:25Speaker 5: have a lot of holes to fill. I thought it
- 35:27Speaker 5: was a pretty easy off season for them. But you know,
- 35:29Speaker 5: just taking a quick glance forward as we get ready there,
- 35:32Speaker 5: you know they're gonna have starter holes next year. Right
- 35:36Speaker 5: guard on one use up, tight end Hunter Henry's up,
- 35:38Speaker 5: linebacker Ellis is up, safety Buyer is up, nose tackle
- 35:41Speaker 5: probably Corey Durton he's up, and punter Bryce Bearinger. So
- 35:45Speaker 5: I just you know, I look at those handful of
- 35:46Speaker 5: positions and I was like, you know, those to me
- 35:48Speaker 5: going into this year be outstanding. If you could get
- 35:51Speaker 5: an unexpected contribution from one of those spots, you know,
- 35:55Speaker 5: if somebody were to step up and you know, be
- 35:57Speaker 5: able to say and this is probably pieing this, oh,
- 36:01Speaker 5: John Darius Morgan on draft the free agent Paul Paul
- 36:04Speaker 5: would you know he steps up and he looks like
- 36:06Speaker 5: he can play, like like on when who did?
- 36:08Speaker 1: And maybe he can be the guy. They could always
- 36:10Speaker 1: resign some of these guys and it's you know, not crazy.
- 36:12Speaker 2: You could bring Hunter Henry back.
- 36:13Speaker 1: You can be buired back. But I just think you know, guard,
- 36:16Speaker 1: tight end, linebacker, safety.
- 36:17Speaker 2: But it's it's not a it's not a a list
- 36:21Speaker 2: that like what are we gonna do? No, No, it's
- 36:24Speaker 2: it's manageable.
- 36:25Speaker 5: But this is But I think it's more of a
- 36:27Speaker 5: standard of offseason. I think this offseason was pretty basically
- 36:30Speaker 5: they brought back. You know, they had everybody pretty much
- 36:32Speaker 5: coming back. There were a couple of decisions they had
- 36:34Speaker 5: to make. But just as we get ready for camp
- 36:36Speaker 5: and I'm excited to see some of these depth guys,
- 36:39Speaker 5: That's where I think the most interesting storylines.
- 36:41Speaker 1: Are happening in this training camp is who can step up?
- 36:44Speaker 2: And kind of come out of nowhere.
- 36:45Speaker 1: You know who the main dudes are probably gonna be,
- 36:48Speaker 1: and you're just hoping they stay healthy.
- 36:49Speaker 5: But you know, can you get some depth not only
- 36:51Speaker 5: from those spots, even cornerback, you know some of the
- 36:53Speaker 5: spots you're getting a little bit older. But I really
- 36:56Speaker 5: look at you know, at linebacker as a spot where
- 36:58Speaker 5: Ellis is up next year, the depth guys behind him,
- 37:01Speaker 5: Britt and Chad Muma are up, you know, and we
- 37:05Speaker 5: saw so it's just and they got a lot of
- 37:09Speaker 5: guys on the roster going into camp. So those are
- 37:11Speaker 5: just a few spots I think.
- 37:12Speaker 2: Yeah, you know how many more seasons is byered have? Yeah?
- 37:15Speaker 1: You know, yeah, I mean a pro last year.
- 37:18Speaker 5: But another spot where right behind it, I have safety
- 37:21Speaker 5: three because if Mike Brown ends up being that thirst,
- 37:23Speaker 5: say he's up next year too, so you know, you
- 37:26Speaker 5: might lose two of your top three safeties again. So
- 37:29Speaker 5: I just I like to like take inventory before you
- 37:31Speaker 5: get into training camp, just to see, you know, who
- 37:33Speaker 5: might be up for for an extension. I mean a
- 37:35Speaker 5: lot of these are you know, older players that you're
- 37:37Speaker 5: mean bired Henry, I'm one, you not so much, but
- 37:41Speaker 5: guys that you're hoping to maybe squeeze a little bit
- 37:43Speaker 5: more out of or find a younger person who can
- 37:46Speaker 5: replace them. No obvious replacements as we go into camp.
- 37:49Speaker 5: So just a little, just a little there on the
- 37:52Speaker 5: depth chat, a little football for.
- 37:53Speaker 2: The football fan. I don't like looking ahead to the
- 37:55Speaker 2: next season. Let's can we start this season first?
- 37:59Speaker 4: Just a brief lance, this is what we have to
- 38:02Speaker 4: be stressed about in the future.
- 38:04Speaker 2: Jeff in Canada on ESPN dot com.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Barnwell, Yeah, you know that.
- 38:10Speaker 2: Writer Bill bill bar did a list of all players
- 38:13Speaker 2: who he considers to be worth at least one first
- 38:16Speaker 2: round pick in trade value, which is an innovative way
- 38:20Speaker 2: of considering your team's talent level. Five Patriots made the list,
- 38:25Speaker 2: and Alyx, can you guess them.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Worth a first round pick on the roster?
- 38:29Speaker 10: Well?
- 38:29Speaker 5: I think the easy ones are A. J. Brown, who
- 38:31Speaker 5: just went for a first rounder, Drake May.
- 38:34Speaker 2: Dallas Dallas Gonzales.
- 38:36Speaker 1: All right, now we're going to start to get interesting.
- 38:40Speaker 2: First round picks. Only two more that made the list, yeah.
- 38:45Speaker 1: Barmore, Nope, No, Milton Williams.
- 38:47Speaker 2: Milton will Williams sorry, and then one more and this
- 38:50Speaker 2: one I don't necessarily agree with but I can understand
- 38:53Speaker 2: why he has the person on the list.
- 38:57Speaker 4: What phase of the game. Huh, what phase of the game,
- 39:00Speaker 4: phase of the game, offense, tribu.
- 39:06Speaker 2: Them Nope, Will Campbell, Will Campbell. Yeah, I mean you know,
- 39:11Speaker 2: I mean he was the fourth.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I get it, I get it.
- 39:15Speaker 5: I just I mean sometimes we talk about him as
- 39:18Speaker 5: a player who you kind of needed to take at
- 39:21Speaker 5: that spot, and I mean I don't know if the
- 39:23Speaker 5: league views him as a tradable first round or at
- 39:26Speaker 5: this point, but I mean if he ends up being
- 39:28Speaker 5: that that caliber player, great, we saw.
- 39:31Speaker 1: Some of though the rankings continue to come out.
- 39:33Speaker 5: Saw Peter Skornsky was a similar short arm tackle at
- 39:36Speaker 5: Northwestern that they moved to Garden now is one of
- 39:38Speaker 5: the top guards. So, you know, not not will up
- 39:41Speaker 5: for that, but I think he's got a, you know,
- 39:43Speaker 5: a bright future no matter where where he ends up.
- 39:45Speaker 1: But big year for him, big year for sure.
- 39:47Speaker 2: Matt and Cali a k a u f L fan. Okay,
- 39:52Speaker 2: I'm loving this lineup On the podcast. Alex and Duce
- 39:55Speaker 2: are always low key funny with subtle jokes. How on
- 39:58Speaker 2: earth is Evan a Dak lover? Dak is up for
- 40:01Speaker 2: a down year, and I believe Dallas is on par
- 40:04Speaker 2: with Arizona and will be competing for a top five
- 40:06Speaker 2: pick next draft.
- 40:08Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, yeah Dallas. I mean running it back. I
- 40:12Speaker 5: mean they got a good, good talented offense. We made
- 40:14Speaker 5: their defense. I don't know, I've just never been a
- 40:17Speaker 5: huge fan of Dak and not just his his cadence.
- 40:19Speaker 2: They always underachieve. Huh. I love it.
- 40:21Speaker 1: That's the thing.
- 40:22Speaker 2: I love it. Always Are either of you paying attention
- 40:26Speaker 2: to the NFL Top one hundred lists.
- 40:29Speaker 1: A little bit? A little bit?
- 40:31Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 40:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I like to see some of the.
- 40:33Speaker 2: Because I know I'm not little ones.
- 40:35Speaker 5: Yeah, I kind of lose it, Like it's just at
- 40:38Speaker 5: this time of year, it just feels like.
- 40:40Speaker 4: The filler dog days of summer content.
- 40:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:43Speaker 4: I mean, I will say it's cool that we have
- 40:45Speaker 4: way more players being recognized on it than last offseason.
- 40:49Speaker 4: So the talent, that's what happened to You go to
- 40:51Speaker 4: a super Bowl?
- 40:52Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, I don't know.
- 40:54Speaker 1: We'll see where we're drakens up. That's what I'm I'm
- 40:56Speaker 1: interested in.
- 40:56Speaker 5: I mean, I like hearing I think what I like
- 40:58Speaker 5: best about that is hearing other players talk about going
- 41:02Speaker 5: against your guys and you know, there was a little
- 41:05Speaker 5: bit that a little bit of that in Jeremy Fowler's
- 41:08Speaker 5: ESPN rankings of the cornerbacks where Gonzales, you know, was
- 41:11Speaker 5: number three, and you know, I think it was another
- 41:13Speaker 5: opponent GM or something said, you know, he just he
- 41:16Speaker 5: does everything for them and they I just like hearing.
- 41:19Speaker 1: What the perspectives are on other players.
- 41:21Speaker 5: I mean, even Aj Brown ending up ninth in the
- 41:23Speaker 5: wide receiver rankings based on Jeremy Fowler's thing that is
- 41:27Speaker 5: all NFL executives and stuff.
- 41:29Speaker 1: I mean, it shows leaks the league still views.
- 41:31Speaker 5: Him as a top ten receiver, which you know, I
- 41:34Speaker 5: think we got caught up a little bit in the
- 41:35Speaker 5: age and the knees and all that kind of stuff.
- 41:37Speaker 5: But we saw him out there on that field. Man,
- 41:40Speaker 5: that guy he looks he looks legit. So yeah, those
- 41:44Speaker 5: are the that's the part I like about it. But otherwise,
- 41:46Speaker 5: you know, I don't get worked up about who was
- 41:48Speaker 5: where or why. I mean, we were in the locker
- 41:50Speaker 5: room when they hand out the list. I mean, I
- 41:52Speaker 5: think he just picked ten guys, you really do.
- 41:53Speaker 4: It's like a girl comes down from I forget where
- 41:56Speaker 4: it is MLPA, where she comes from but it's just
- 42:00Speaker 4: she has like it's literally paper pens handing him out.
- 42:04Speaker 4: She collects them all and.
- 42:05Speaker 5: Whend you just kind of do your friends, like how
- 42:07Speaker 5: I played with this guy in College's just you know,
- 42:09Speaker 5: a couple who were like, oh, this guy was a beast.
- 42:11Speaker 2: You know, I have to put him on. But I
- 42:14Speaker 2: don't know.
- 42:14Speaker 4: It seems like if you're going to like really do
- 42:16Speaker 4: it the right way, they would need a lot of time.
- 42:18Speaker 4: I think I would need a lot of time to
- 42:20Speaker 4: think about that.
- 42:21Speaker 1: Oh I know on the spot, who's who the ten
- 42:23Speaker 1: best players are?
- 42:25Speaker 2: Patriots? Patriots. Jack is coming to us from Barcelona. Barcelona,
- 42:31Speaker 2: he says, after weeks and weeks of you guys talking
- 42:33Speaker 2: about soccer, he's got that in quotes. At least someone
- 42:37Speaker 2: said the key word about this sport. Corruption has got
- 42:41Speaker 2: it in caps. I no longer can follow this sport.
- 42:44Speaker 2: And it's because the reason I switched to less corrupt
- 42:46Speaker 2: sports like American football, less corrupt, not not free of it.
- 42:51Speaker 2: That would have been. I think soccer is the best
- 42:54Speaker 2: sport for the kids because it's easy to play everywhere
- 42:56Speaker 2: in the world. You don't need much stuff, and it's
- 42:58Speaker 2: easy to understand. But in the elite level. I hate it.
- 43:02Speaker 2: Think about it. It's not only because FIFA and uf
- 43:06Speaker 2: U e f A are the most corrupt organizations in
- 43:09Speaker 2: the world, but because the players as well. Christiano Ronaldo
- 43:14Speaker 2: is considered one of the biggest stars in the history
- 43:16Speaker 2: of the sport and one of the biggest floppers in
- 43:18Speaker 2: the world. Well, listen, flopping isn't corruption. Hey, come on,
- 43:22Speaker 2: flopping that's doing business. This business is being done. Player
- 43:26Speaker 2: corrupt because he's flopping.
- 43:29Speaker 5: My favorite flop part is like when they flop and
- 43:32Speaker 5: there's no call coming and the play still going and
- 43:34Speaker 5: the guy has to wrap up the dramatics, right, Yeah,
- 43:38Speaker 5: like when they actually call the foul or they're presenting
- 43:41Speaker 5: car like it drowns on a little bit.
- 43:43Speaker 1: And then there's always that.
- 43:44Speaker 2: Moment where like he might actually be hurt game where
- 43:48Speaker 2: the guy got late in the game, he got knocked
- 43:51Speaker 2: down top of the box and the play went on
- 43:54Speaker 2: and he just realized, no one's fucking.
- 43:56Speaker 1: At me, rush back.
- 44:02Speaker 2: I love it.
- 44:02Speaker 5: I mean, I guess now I've watched enough that you
- 44:04Speaker 5: just realize it's kind of how it goes, and you know,
- 44:06Speaker 5: you just kind of that's that's what they do.
- 44:08Speaker 4: And if you play tough, you're not going to get
- 44:11Speaker 4: the call because if you don't go down, or you don't,
- 44:13Speaker 4: I don't know, get beat off the ball too badly,
- 44:16Speaker 4: you know, even when you deserve it.
- 44:18Speaker 1: No embellishment calls in soccer.
- 44:20Speaker 2: Sure, Reno right saying I was the one who we
- 44:23Speaker 2: email last week about real fans don't have more than
- 44:26Speaker 2: one team per league. Hell yeah, the response to Paul's comments.
- 44:30Speaker 2: You can cheer on other teams to do well, but
- 44:34Speaker 2: you shouldn't be a fanatic, which is what fan is
- 44:37Speaker 2: shortened from. Also, no, I don't cheer on other teams
- 44:41Speaker 2: when my Patriots get knocked out in the playoffs. I
- 44:45Speaker 2: hate cheer that a specific, specific team loses. Also, nothing
- 44:49Speaker 2: wrong with liking players from another team. That doesn't mean
- 44:52Speaker 2: you need to like the whole team, hate the stealers,
- 44:55Speaker 2: but absolutely love Troy Polamalo.
- 44:58Speaker 5: I like I like that tape from Reno because I
- 45:02Speaker 5: feel the same way. I feel like once the Patriots
- 45:05Speaker 5: are out of it, then I probably it's not who
- 45:08Speaker 5: I want to win, so I don't want to win.
- 45:11Speaker 1: But I also, especially doing this.
- 45:14Speaker 11: Job where you watch a lot of it, you get
- 45:16Speaker 11: to really appreciate other talented players, and like how fun
- 45:20Speaker 11: it is to watch a schedule this year where there's
- 45:23Speaker 11: gonna be a lot of talented players going against the Patriots.
- 45:26Speaker 1: That I appreciate that more.
- 45:27Speaker 5: And you know, you see, especially getting to see these
- 45:29Speaker 5: guys in person, that's what's exciting. When you see the
- 45:32Speaker 5: talent of Stefan Diggs jump off the field, you see
- 45:35Speaker 5: Aj Brown get here, and just you can immediately see
- 45:39Speaker 5: why he is a special athlete without anybody having to
- 45:43Speaker 5: point anything out here or say, oh, you know he
- 45:45Speaker 5: does this well, like you can just tell.
- 45:47Speaker 1: But yeah, I know, I agree, I agree, I do.
- 45:50Speaker 2: Uh yeah, I don't know.
- 45:51Speaker 1: I just I don't feel it in my heart with
- 45:53Speaker 1: any other teams.
- 45:53Speaker 2: Like I like to hate one.
- 45:54Speaker 4: It's yeah, I hate watch and I like to root
- 45:56Speaker 4: for a good storyline. Yeah, but you're right, like you
- 45:59Speaker 4: never ask invested, You'll never be as invested as with
- 46:02Speaker 4: your team.
- 46:03Speaker 5: No, I mean, the Patriots affect my heart, The Bruins
- 46:06Speaker 5: affect my heart. When the Red Sox and Celtis get
- 46:08Speaker 5: into the playoffs and I kind of get into it,
- 46:09Speaker 5: then I start to kind of feel it a little bit,
- 46:12Speaker 5: you know, day to day average Wednesday night I turn
- 46:14Speaker 5: on the Red Sox were losing.
- 46:15Speaker 1: Not a big deal to me. Yeah, you know, the
- 46:18Speaker 1: Bruins maybe a little little less. So I do get
- 46:20Speaker 1: a little wrapped up, and I'm very angry with them
- 46:22Speaker 1: a lot.
- 46:23Speaker 2: But yeah I have. When I watched the Red Sox,
- 46:25Speaker 2: I yell at it.
- 46:26Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 46:27Speaker 2: Why, he says, you know they can't hear you. I'm like, no,
- 46:29Speaker 2: they can. There are pipes that go all the way
- 46:32Speaker 2: to Fenway and they can hear me. Right, pipes come
- 46:35Speaker 2: out if you install those. When you got the nineteen
- 46:37Speaker 2: nineteen team, they're.
- 46:38Speaker 1: Their official what was it the metals or what they
- 46:40Speaker 1: What did you.
- 46:40Speaker 5: Get the keychainops which you got to replace your battery
- 46:45Speaker 5: on the fog?
- 46:46Speaker 4: Yeah that's so funny. Right, we talked about that on Tuesday, right.
- 46:51Speaker 4: I got in my car on Tuesday, right when the show.
- 46:54Speaker 2: Oh I saw your tweet.
- 46:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I had a little time to kill before Nick's
- 46:57Speaker 4: going away thing. And yeah, so I get in my car.
- 47:02Speaker 4: I'm about to go to CBS and get some lunch.
- 47:04Speaker 4: In my key battery like it had been dying for
- 47:07Speaker 4: over a year. It was like change your key battery soon,
- 47:11Speaker 4: and I didn't.
- 47:12Speaker 2: And then I couldn't get in your car.
- 47:14Speaker 4: Yeah, well I was able to get in, but I
- 47:16Speaker 4: had to You have to pull.
- 47:17Speaker 1: It apart a little circle bat.
- 47:20Speaker 4: But the old fashioned way. It's a little circle battery.
- 47:23Speaker 4: So I a CBS are there. I haven't even tried
- 47:26Speaker 4: yet because it's still it was working now that I
- 47:29Speaker 4: tore it apart. I got a battery, but I couldn't
- 47:31Speaker 4: get the little tiny circle battery out. And I was like,
- 47:33Speaker 4: I'm not breaking a nail for this. I'll find a
- 47:35Speaker 4: man or screwdriver to help me with this. And I
- 47:39Speaker 4: put the key back together it started working again.
- 47:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:43Speaker 4: So I was carrying on batteries just in case I
- 47:45Speaker 4: need my mont.
- 47:46Speaker 1: Get it back, take it from a fob expert, or
- 47:48Speaker 1: you need another.
- 47:49Speaker 4: Bad don't let those die?
- 47:52Speaker 2: Well, do they tell you the dealing? You know, don't
- 47:53Speaker 2: lose the fob because you know they're like a thousand
- 47:56Speaker 2: dollars reasons.
- 47:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it's another thing that we just made way to analog.
- 48:03Speaker 4: Give me my analog life back.
- 48:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that's why my car is so old.
- 48:08Speaker 2: It doesn't have all the beats and whistles and everything.
- 48:10Speaker 2: So are you old enough to remember crank down windows?
- 48:13Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 48:14Speaker 1: Oh yeah, my first car had a crankdown.
- 48:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't like the new cars. It's like everything
- 48:20Speaker 1: you do, it's like no, no, no, no, wait, you know
- 48:23Speaker 1: about the steering wheel starts.
- 48:24Speaker 4: To ring through.
- 48:27Speaker 1: I figure out, I know you.
- 48:29Speaker 2: Don't have anything. First car I had, my feet had
- 48:32Speaker 2: to start up on the ground like Wilmar.
- 48:38Speaker 4: Me just want like a ninety seven for runner.
- 48:42Speaker 5: I thought you're gonna say like Pontiac Firebirder, but I
- 48:48Speaker 5: think I need an suv.
- 48:49Speaker 2: Yeah. When you drive, when you wrop the classic cars
- 48:53Speaker 2: on the highway and they're like in mint condition, it's
- 48:55Speaker 2: like that's really I heard it. But then you think
- 48:57Speaker 2: about it. I couldn't bu those really were and like
- 49:00Speaker 2: AM FM radio and that's all it has. And you
- 49:03Speaker 2: know I like the new cars.
- 49:05Speaker 4: Yeah, well you can get like the there's those companies
- 49:07Speaker 4: that specialize in like the restored vintage Broncos and stuff
- 49:12Speaker 4: like everyone and their mother has one on the Vineyard
- 49:14Speaker 4: or Nantucket and they're all painted like this beautiful red
- 49:17Speaker 4: or baby blue, and those are kind of cool, but
- 49:21Speaker 4: they're modern, like you get the modern conveniences.
- 49:24Speaker 2: So inside it's modern.
- 49:26Speaker 4: Well the upholstery, yeah, and I think a lot of
- 49:29Speaker 4: it's classic, but it's just elevated and nicer.
- 49:32Speaker 2: And I like my entertainment features and all that serious radio.
- 49:37Speaker 1: And yeah, the map, I love the map.
- 49:39Speaker 4: I love I love Apple Car play. Apple Car plays great.
- 49:43Speaker 1: I don't have it in my car. But when I drive.
- 49:46Speaker 4: About the truck, the truck on your truck, I know,
- 49:50Speaker 4: I don't know if you've made that announcement.
- 49:52Speaker 2: You got a truck.
- 49:53Speaker 4: He's a truck guy.
- 49:55Speaker 1: Well we kind of well, we have to get it
- 49:56Speaker 1: all registered and everything.
- 49:57Speaker 2: So yeah, so nice.
- 50:01Speaker 5: Wow, technically my wife's car, so hopefully I'll get to
- 50:04Speaker 5: drive a little bit.
- 50:05Speaker 1: But I'm trying to decide that a car.
- 50:08Speaker 2: Yeah, she likes a big truck.
- 50:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:10Speaker 5: Well, I'm just trying to decide what to do with
- 50:11Speaker 5: my piece of crap because it's got one hundred and
- 50:14Speaker 5: forty thousand miles.
- 50:15Speaker 2: Give it to Paul.
- 50:16Speaker 5: That's but it runs fine, and that the car kids hard.
- 50:21Speaker 1: And we have a kid who's fourteen.
- 50:23Speaker 4: Yeah, you have to see it.
- 50:24Speaker 1: And I'm like, if you sell the third car for
- 50:27Speaker 1: like one thousand dollars, I don't. I mean, it's got rest.
- 50:29Speaker 5: I mean, and like I said, I did the breaks
- 50:31Speaker 5: and the tires a year or so ago, so you
- 50:32Speaker 5: don't have anything pending.
- 50:34Speaker 2: So I don't know.
- 50:35Speaker 5: I don't really want to ditch my my Pathfinder I've
- 50:37Speaker 5: had for ten years.
- 50:38Speaker 2: But yeah, we'll see, all right, eight five five past
- 50:42Speaker 2: five hundred. Let's see what Christian has to say today.
- 50:45Speaker 2: What's up Christian in La?
- 50:48Speaker 12: Hey you guys, Hey, you guys, you guys. Good summer
- 50:50Speaker 12: day to you. So just on what you guys are
- 50:53Speaker 12: just saying. I drive it's a test Ex's like the
- 50:57Speaker 12: top of the line car.
- 50:58Speaker 2: Of course you do it.
- 51:00Speaker 4: Tesla plaid, yes, the Tesla plat.
- 51:06Speaker 7: Well that's just to go a little faster.
- 51:08Speaker 12: But anyway, the stupidest thing about the car is that
- 51:11Speaker 12: you have to have this credit.
- 51:13Speaker 7: Card sized car, which is like so easy to lose.
- 51:16Speaker 7: All you have to have it connected to.
- 51:18Speaker 12: Your phone app. And right, so I'm out and I
- 51:20Speaker 12: don't have the credit card thing because again it's very
- 51:22Speaker 12: easy to loose, and I'm monitoring my phone because the
- 51:25Speaker 12: battery is getting low, right, and so before I make
- 51:28Speaker 12: it back to my car, the battery of my phone dies,
- 51:31Speaker 12: and so this means I cannot get into.
- 51:33Speaker 7: The car at all.
- 51:34Speaker 12: You have no access in the fact that you touch
- 51:36Speaker 12: the car, right, it's just a century alarm that someone's
- 51:38Speaker 12: trying to break.
- 51:39Speaker 7: Into your car.
- 51:40Speaker 12: And so I'm walking around, I'm asking people, can I
- 51:43Speaker 12: can I use your car to charge my phone? And
- 51:46Speaker 12: unless people think of some sort of new kind of scam, right,
- 51:49Speaker 12: and like an hour and a half someone, so let
- 51:53Speaker 12: me charge my phone to one so I can open
- 51:56Speaker 12: the damn car door. So great car, But there are
- 51:59Speaker 12: some things that you wish were analog in some way.
- 52:02Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I would imagine that. You know, you got
- 52:05Speaker 2: to think of a backup for that power. Yeah, yeah, right.
- 52:11Speaker 12: I put it a backup unless you're carrying an external
- 52:13Speaker 12: battery in your pocket when.
- 52:14Speaker 7: You go out. Right.
- 52:16Speaker 4: Yeah. I put a deposit down on a Tesla like
- 52:18Speaker 4: two years ago. I don't know if I told you
- 52:19Speaker 4: guys about that, and I had a panic and I
- 52:21Speaker 4: canceled it for literally like reasons like that.
- 52:25Speaker 2: There's a and the car.
- 52:27Speaker 12: Okay, So the other crazy thing about the car Whege
- 52:30Speaker 12: thinks analog is as you walk up to the car
- 52:32Speaker 12: from the back, the front door opens for you, which
- 52:34Speaker 12: it seems like, hey, it's a great feature, But when
- 52:36Speaker 12: you walked up to the car from the front. The
- 52:38Speaker 12: front door opens, but not as much so. If you
- 52:41Speaker 12: come to the car from the front and you walk
- 52:43Speaker 12: around your door which is kind of three courly opened,
- 52:46Speaker 12: and you go to get in your car, the car
- 52:49Speaker 12: starts to close the door on you because it.
- 52:52Speaker 7: Has an automatic door club.
- 52:53Speaker 12: When you sit in the car, you can press the
- 52:54Speaker 12: brake and it closes the door for you to close
- 52:56Speaker 12: your front door. But it's kind of a walky technology
- 52:59Speaker 12: because if you're with it from the front and get in,
- 53:01Speaker 12: it senses that that you're getting in the car from
- 53:04Speaker 12: another direction and it starts to close the door on you.
- 53:07Speaker 4: There's there's you.
- 53:12Speaker 12: Would think so, but there's no saying in fact, and
- 53:14Speaker 12: I'll move on to football. It caused an accident with
- 53:17Speaker 12: the other car that I have, which is another Tesla,
- 53:19Speaker 12: but I parked it the opposite way right, so I
- 53:22Speaker 12: nosing with one car and then I back in with
- 53:25Speaker 12: the other car. And because you have to have the
- 53:28Speaker 12: key on your app to your to the phone, and
- 53:30Speaker 12: the phone, you know, the car door opens when you
- 53:32Speaker 12: get closed. I start to adjust and pull out with
- 53:36Speaker 12: one car, and the other car door senses my phone
- 53:38Speaker 12: key near it and it opens the car door and
- 53:41Speaker 12: both car doors clash into each other, and I have
- 53:45Speaker 12: to to, you know, to basically stew Tesla to cover
- 53:48Speaker 12: it because they were trying to stay with my my fault.
- 53:51Speaker 12: I'm like, nor do open myself because.
- 53:54Speaker 7: That's stupid, you know.
- 53:55Speaker 12: But anyway, design error is like you think it, but
- 54:00Speaker 12: you're not thinking. So what the what the Olympic thing
- 54:05Speaker 12: versus versus the World Cup? It seems like the Olympics
- 54:08Speaker 12: are bigger only because it encompasses more sports that we
- 54:12Speaker 12: watch at the same time. Like you get the basketball,
- 54:15Speaker 12: you know, best of basketball from every country. You get
- 54:18Speaker 12: the best in baseball from the country, and you get
- 54:19Speaker 12: the best in soccer from the country, the best and sprinting,
- 54:22Speaker 12: and so if you like, there's a lot more for
- 54:25Speaker 12: you to say, Oh I like this event, and everybody
- 54:27Speaker 12: in the world still is watching. So I don't know,
- 54:29Speaker 12: he's a little a little bigger than me.
- 54:30Speaker 7: But I thought of this.
- 54:33Speaker 12: Why isn't there like a World Soccer organization where every
- 54:36Speaker 12: five years it's the best of each continent. Maybe Oceania
- 54:40Speaker 12: has to kind of get some contingencies.
- 54:42Speaker 7: But you put together a you know.
- 54:44Speaker 12: All star team from each continent and you look them
- 54:45Speaker 12: play around Robins the tournament to see who's the best,
- 54:49Speaker 12: you know, what's the best continent in soccer. So that
- 54:52Speaker 12: was that was one of my crazy fantasies I had
- 54:54Speaker 12: during soccer. But my football thing was Last Time Tuesday.
- 54:59Speaker 12: I talked about these super teams that come together and
- 55:01Speaker 12: how they usually failed. But I also thought about it.
- 55:04Speaker 12: I didn't a chance to ask the second part of
- 55:05Speaker 12: the question was what are.
- 55:07Speaker 7: The teams that you guys feel were like broken up
- 55:10Speaker 7: too soon? Like an example would be to me was
- 55:13Speaker 7: like the.
- 55:13Speaker 12: Baker Mayfield, Jarvis Landry, Odell Beckham and Kareem Hunt and
- 55:18Speaker 12: Miles Garrett Brown, like that team really did they fell
- 55:21Speaker 12: and for some reason, like one year, they broke that
- 55:24Speaker 12: team up. And I thought, well, that's an example of
- 55:26Speaker 12: the team that was broken up too soon. I thought,
- 55:29Speaker 12: was one if you guys had any example of the
- 55:30Speaker 12: team that teams that.
- 55:31Speaker 7: You felt were broken up too soon?
- 55:33Speaker 2: Thank you guys, listen, all right, thanks christ I off
- 55:36Speaker 2: the top of my head, I could think of teams
- 55:38Speaker 2: that should have been broken up sooner. But I can't
- 55:42Speaker 2: think of what.
- 55:42Speaker 5: About like one of the Sam Donald teams, you know,
- 55:44Speaker 5: like it's did they I mean, it's not a team.
- 55:46Speaker 5: It's kind of a guy. But he's another example like
- 55:48Speaker 5: Baker Mayfield. I thought that was a good example from
- 55:50Speaker 5: Christian The Browns did have some talent.
- 55:52Speaker 2: Never came together, but I mean Donald Chody can play.
- 55:55Speaker 7: You know.
- 55:56Speaker 1: Did the Jets move on too quickly from him?
- 55:58Speaker 2: Yeah? I don't know.
- 55:59Speaker 5: I wanted I Patriots wise, I would have liked to
- 56:02Speaker 5: see Dion Branch and that connection stick.
- 56:04Speaker 2: Around for a little while on N six.
- 56:07Speaker 1: But I don't know. Nothing's coming to the.
- 56:09Speaker 5: Top of mind immediately about I always wondered that about
- 56:14Speaker 5: the rest of the AFC East when Brady and Belichick
- 56:16Speaker 5: were here and just kept laying the hurt on him,
- 56:18Speaker 5: And you know, were there any of those teams? And
- 56:21Speaker 5: Rex Ryan and Mark Sanchez probably came the closest, but
- 56:24Speaker 5: were any of those teams? Just the biggest problem was
- 56:28Speaker 5: they couldn't be bet Brady Belichick, but they would have
- 56:30Speaker 5: been a good team, and they just stuck with a formula.
- 56:32Speaker 1: I don't think there's really an example.
- 56:33Speaker 5: Of that, but I did think a little bit about
- 56:35Speaker 5: that when the Jets were okay and kind of pushed
- 56:37Speaker 5: them two thousand and nine, ten, they got a couple wins.
- 56:40Speaker 5: They got a playoff win here, not saying that I'm
- 56:43Speaker 5: advocating for Mark Sanchez to.
- 56:45Speaker 1: Stick around post twenty twelve and the buff fumble and
- 56:47Speaker 1: all that stuff, but they caught lightning in a bottle.
- 56:50Speaker 2: For a minute. Ben writs in he's in the truck.
- 56:55Speaker 2: For Olympic soccer, the women play their best players, but
- 56:58Speaker 2: the men's tournament is limited to the under twenty three teams,
- 57:01Speaker 2: with three spots for overage players per team. Oh, I
- 57:04Speaker 2: didn't know that. It is also in the same summer
- 57:07Speaker 2: as the Euros in the copor America, so the European
- 57:10Speaker 2: and South American teams are focused on those tournaments.
- 57:13Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, that makes sense.
- 57:15Speaker 4: That makes sense to be switched.
- 57:17Speaker 1: Yeah, somehow, I.
- 57:18Speaker 4: Don't know if there's a way to do.
- 57:19Speaker 1: It, but.
- 57:21Speaker 5: I mean it's like I kind of like it in
- 57:24Speaker 5: a way that it means a little bit more to
- 57:26Speaker 5: the women that you know.
- 57:27Speaker 1: I mean, is there a women's World Cup?
- 57:28Speaker 2: I don't even know.
- 57:29Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 57:29Speaker 1: Yeah, does that get a.
- 57:30Speaker 4: Lot of juice for me?
- 57:32Speaker 1: Really?
- 57:33Speaker 2: Yeah? The problem with women's soccer right now, it's only
- 57:38Speaker 2: like five good teams. Yeah, really, there really aren't true.
- 57:41Speaker 4: It's true, you know.
- 57:42Speaker 2: They need more countries to invest in. Yeah, in women's sports.
- 57:47Speaker 1: Is it still just US and China?
- 57:48Speaker 2: The probably I?
- 57:49Speaker 4: England has good teams, Brazil has great teams, the Australians,
- 57:54Speaker 4: stuff like that.
- 57:55Speaker 2: One of those teams out there, Sweden maybe, or one
- 57:57Speaker 2: of those out there, those Icelandic Curve Skandinavian teams. I
- 58:04Speaker 2: think one of them are really good.
- 58:06Speaker 9: FIFA's Women's World Cup is twenty twenty seven.
- 58:08Speaker 1: Okay, so they're like a year where is it? A
- 58:09Speaker 1: year off?
- 58:12Speaker 2: A boss Brazili? What's you in Brazil next year? That's tough.
- 58:17Speaker 2: I don't know. Fred I was thinking an extra home
- 58:18Speaker 2: game next year at Brazil.
- 58:20Speaker 1: I feel like there's going to be a Brazil trip.

- 1:00:37Speaker 5: The Crown is yours gambling problem called twenty hundred and
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: twenty one plus.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: Agent eligibility varies by jurisdiction.
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: Caleb, so excuse me after Will Campbell last year, just
- 1:00:57Speaker 5: to set the table guys, a little bit of shuffling
- 1:00:59Speaker 5: going on. Garrett Bradbury has moved on. They've slid Jared
- 1:01:02Speaker 5: Wilson over to center. They brought in Elijah Vera Tucker,
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: really promising guy who's just battled some injuries. Michael, when
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: you back Morgan Moses, so we'll see how he holds
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: up for another year.
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: Caleb B. Loomo enters that mix.
- 1:01:14Speaker 5: So it's another position group where I feel like you
- 1:01:16Speaker 5: got seven guys you really feel good about, but maybe
- 1:01:18Speaker 5: some questions Paul about the death in the middle.
- 1:01:21Speaker 15: Yeah, And to me, there's two keys to the whole thing.
- 1:01:23Speaker 15: On paper, everything looks to be improved from last year.
- 1:01:28Speaker 15: The two things that will be key to me is
- 1:01:29Speaker 15: the improvement for the two second year guys, Campbell and Wilson,
- 1:01:33Speaker 15: as well as the health of the left guard in ABT.
- 1:01:36Speaker 15: So we know that, you know, Vera Tucker is really talented.
- 1:01:41Speaker 15: He's one of the best guards in football when he's healthy.
- 1:01:43Speaker 15: He hasn't been healthy often enough. I like the sort
- 1:01:47Speaker 15: of plan that they had for him during the spring,
- 1:01:49Speaker 15: you know, read some stuff about him sort of feeling
- 1:01:51Speaker 15: more and more comfortable and asking for more reps. As
- 1:01:55Speaker 15: those spring practices went along. We got to see him
- 1:01:57Speaker 15: a little bit in eleven on elevens at the end
- 1:01:59Speaker 15: of minie camp.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: So I think all signs are positive right now.
- 1:02:04Speaker 15: That group, if healthy, is better than the group that
- 1:02:06Speaker 15: played last year in my opinion, But a lot of
- 1:02:09Speaker 15: that's going to depend on the health of the left
- 1:02:11Speaker 15: guard and the progress of the two second year guys,
- 1:02:13Speaker 15: Campbell and Wilson.
- 1:02:14Speaker 16: Yeah, I'm a happy camper.
- 1:02:16Speaker 17: I mean, you know, I'm the offensive line dork and
- 1:02:18Speaker 17: I'll wear that badge of honor. And They've just had
- 1:02:21Speaker 17: a lot of talent to this room and just looking
- 1:02:24Speaker 17: to where they were Drake May's rookie season and the
- 1:02:27Speaker 17: progress that they've made both, you know, kind of.
- 1:02:29Speaker 16: Building that entire group.
- 1:02:32Speaker 17: They have tackle debt for the first time in years,
- 1:02:35Speaker 17: like maybe even going all the way back to Brady
- 1:02:37Speaker 17: and Belichick tackle depth. I think they have enough interior
- 1:02:41Speaker 17: depth as well with Ben Brown, and I think Lomu
- 1:02:44Speaker 17: is going to be able to flex inside if they
- 1:02:46Speaker 17: want him to as well. If Avt does get hurt,
- 1:02:50Speaker 17: I'm optimistic that putting Avt in between Wilson and Campbell's
- 1:02:55Speaker 17: going to make all three of those guys those spots better.
- 1:02:58Speaker 16: Yeah, So I think there's a lot I really like
- 1:03:00Speaker 16: about this.
- 1:03:00Speaker 17: And then on the right side, you still have the
- 1:03:02Speaker 17: two Wiley vets with on Whennu and Moses on that
- 1:03:05Speaker 17: side of the line, So they got depth, especially at tackle,
- 1:03:08Speaker 17: they have upside ceiling. You know, last year they were
- 1:03:12Speaker 17: a middle of the pack offensive line. You know, most
- 1:03:14Speaker 17: metrics put them twelve thirteen in the regular season. In
- 1:03:18Speaker 17: the playoffs, we saw some wartz, we saw some growing
- 1:03:20Speaker 17: pains with that group that they still maybe had a
- 1:03:23Speaker 17: way a little bit ways to go.
- 1:03:24Speaker 16: But I think they've improved.
- 1:03:26Speaker 17: And like I said, I'm optimistic that just putting Veritucker
- 1:03:30Speaker 17: in between those two rookies and a second year guys
- 1:03:33Speaker 17: now and kind of spacing that out a little bit
- 1:03:35Speaker 17: better and putting Wilson back at his natural position at center,
- 1:03:39Speaker 17: I think that's going to help everybody and you know,
- 1:03:41Speaker 17: kind of raise all tides. So this is as good
- 1:03:43Speaker 17: of a group as they've had on the offensive line
- 1:03:45Speaker 17: in a while. And so you know, it all starts
- 1:03:48Speaker 17: in the trenches, and I really think that they're going
- 1:03:49Speaker 17: to be able to, you know, be productive in that
- 1:03:52Speaker 17: area of the team.
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: Yeah, Morgan Moses is interesting.
- 1:03:54Speaker 5: He's thirty five now, so they managed him really well
- 1:03:57Speaker 5: last year training camp, you know, pulling them off, let
- 1:03:59Speaker 5: him come late, that kind of thing. Looked like he
- 1:04:01Speaker 5: got a little dinged up in OTAs present an opportunity
- 1:04:03Speaker 5: for not just Caleb Lomu, but you know, I feel
- 1:04:05Speaker 5: like Marcus Bryant, second year guy, just noticed him in
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: the mix a little bit more. Some of it's you know,
- 1:04:10Speaker 5: we're in training, we're in mini camp. That's you know,
- 1:04:12Speaker 5: guys aren't here. You got to step up. But you know,
- 1:04:14Speaker 5: I just I wonder what kind of depth they're building
- 1:04:16Speaker 5: with crown Over that they drafted and Marcus Bryant. Are
- 1:04:19Speaker 5: those guys, you know, going to find a role or
- 1:04:21Speaker 5: are they kind of push to the background.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: But it's a good problem to have.
- 1:04:25Speaker 5: You've got some at least some bodies to put out
- 1:04:26Speaker 5: there that you're developing and that you're putting, you know,
- 1:04:28Speaker 5: into your system.
- 1:04:29Speaker 15: Yeah, and they also added a veteran in James Hudson,
- 1:04:32Speaker 15: you know, so you know, you look at a guy
- 1:04:34Speaker 15: like Vederian Lowe last year, he did the job when
- 1:04:36Speaker 15: he was called upon in those games. That that Will
- 1:04:39Speaker 15: Campbell had to miss toward the end of the season.
- 1:04:42Speaker 15: Can a veteran like like Hudson, you know, fill in
- 1:04:44Speaker 15: if you know, Lomo was already playing. As an example,
- 1:04:48Speaker 15: because Eavan's right, you have a third tackle drafted in
- 1:04:51Speaker 15: the first round now, so your your depth is, you know,
- 1:04:54Speaker 15: on the outside has increased exponentially from last year. Was
- 1:04:57Speaker 15: still a little bit curious as to what happened on
- 1:04:59Speaker 15: the side those three interior spots. You know, Ben Brown
- 1:05:03Speaker 15: is a veteran that comes back. He played well when
- 1:05:06Speaker 15: called upon last year in place of Jared Wilson. Beyond Brown, though,
- 1:05:09Speaker 15: I think there are some questions.
- 1:05:11Speaker 17: Yeah, I just what I like about the two young
- 1:05:13Speaker 17: tackles you mentioned is is that they're both huge. So like,
- 1:05:16Speaker 17: at least if you're developing traits at the end of
- 1:05:18Speaker 17: the draft, like that's what you want. You two guys
- 1:05:21Speaker 17: that are massive and crownovers wingspin and arm length is
- 1:05:25Speaker 17: like ridiculously massive. He had thirty five plus inch arms
- 1:05:28Speaker 17: at the combine, which is insane. So you know, both
- 1:05:31Speaker 17: those guys that are raw and they have a long
- 1:05:33Speaker 17: way to go, but at least you're betting on traits
- 1:05:36Speaker 17: and upside and size and just things you can't teach.
- 1:05:38Speaker 16: So great projects for.
- 1:05:40Speaker 17: Doug Moron and Jason Haddling and those guys to just
- 1:05:44Speaker 17: sink their teeth into and work on, and then you
- 1:05:46Speaker 17: don't have to play them right away. They don't have
- 1:05:48Speaker 17: to be pressed into roles where they have to play
- 1:05:50Speaker 17: significant snaps. So fun group at tackle now with the
- 1:05:54Speaker 17: two first round picks obviously being the big guys, but
- 1:05:57Speaker 17: even those you know, depth guys too, I think have
- 1:05:59Speaker 17: some up side and some ability. So the interior, I
- 1:06:02Speaker 17: think you guys are right in terms of what's behind
- 1:06:05Speaker 17: Ben Brown.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: But I think Ben Brown's.
- 1:06:07Speaker 17: A pretty solid, you know, super sub, you know, guy
- 1:06:09Speaker 17: that can play all three of those positions. And I
- 1:06:11Speaker 17: wouldn't roll out Lomu playing guard if they have to,
- 1:06:15Speaker 17: you know, if AVT has another long injury, you know,
- 1:06:17Speaker 17: then I would assume that Lomu's going to have a
- 1:06:20Speaker 17: chance to play at left guard.
- 1:06:22Speaker 5: Well, one of the more thing I want to bring
- 1:06:23Speaker 5: up before we wrap up, I just want to put
- 1:06:24Speaker 5: Will Campbell onto the spotlight for a second, just to
- 1:06:26Speaker 5: use such a lightning rod last year, you know, first
- 1:06:28Speaker 5: overall pay if you talk about armlenk All that stuff
- 1:06:31Speaker 5: has a solid you know, regular season, gets hurt, comes
- 1:06:33Speaker 5: back was obviously the target, especially in the Seattle Seahawks
- 1:06:37Speaker 5: Super Bowl game plan to get after you know, Paul,
- 1:06:39Speaker 5: what's just your feeling here?
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: As we get with Will Campbell year two?
- 1:06:42Speaker 16: What you what are you looking for me?
- 1:06:43Speaker 15: Well, that's why I mentioned at the top that one
- 1:06:46Speaker 15: of the big keys for me is the year two
- 1:06:48Speaker 15: jump for both Campbell and Wilson, because I think both
- 1:06:51Speaker 15: of them will have to be a lot better than
- 1:06:52Speaker 15: they were last year.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: Certainly at the end of last year.
- 1:06:55Speaker 15: I mean, I think they both had their moments during
- 1:06:57Speaker 15: the course of the season, but down the stretcher wasn't
- 1:06:59Speaker 15: good enough.
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: So how much better are they in year two?
- 1:07:02Speaker 7: Now?
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: They both should be a lot better.
- 1:07:04Speaker 15: I Mean, that's what you're looking for out of young players,
- 1:07:06Speaker 15: is that, you know, you get a little stronger, you
- 1:07:08Speaker 15: get a little experience, you get a little bit more
- 1:07:11Speaker 15: savvy in terms of knowing what to expect from some
- 1:07:14Speaker 15: of these really talented guys. And let's face it, when
- 1:07:16Speaker 15: they got to the playoffs, the level of competition really
- 1:07:20Speaker 15: really rose, especially for those guys, especially for Campbell. He's
- 1:07:24Speaker 15: based some really good edge rushers and maybe he wasn't
- 1:07:27Speaker 15: healthy enough. He looks healthy now, so I expect him
- 1:07:30Speaker 15: to be that much better in year two.
- 1:07:32Speaker 16: Yeah, if his.
- 1:07:32Speaker 17: Floor is pre injury rookie season, Will Campbell, I don't
- 1:07:37Speaker 17: know if it was the fourth overall pickworthy, but I
- 1:07:39Speaker 17: think you did okay, you know, and you got a
- 1:07:42Speaker 17: guy that's going to start on the offensive line for
- 1:07:45Speaker 17: a while. The question is is, you know, can he
- 1:07:47Speaker 17: improve on that and can he be even better than that?
- 1:07:49Speaker 17: You know, we can get into some of the technical things.
- 1:07:52Speaker 17: I think that's the biggest thing to me, other than
- 1:07:53Speaker 17: just adding play strength and getting stronger and maturing physically.
- 1:07:58Speaker 17: For Will Campbell, I think some of us forget you know,
- 1:08:00Speaker 17: he's twenty two years old. You know, he's just a baby.
- 1:08:02Speaker 17: You know, he's a kid. So hopefully physically he gets
- 1:08:06Speaker 17: a little bit more mature and that will help him
- 1:08:08Speaker 17: in that way. But technically, you know, I just thought
- 1:08:11Speaker 17: that last year he didn't do himself a ton of
- 1:08:13Speaker 17: favors in the playoffs with the way that he was setting,
- 1:08:16Speaker 17: vertical setting into the backfield, inviting those bull rushes. I
- 1:08:19Speaker 17: think there's ways that savvier, more experienced guys can kind
- 1:08:23Speaker 17: of teach him and coach him to improve on those things,
- 1:08:26Speaker 17: to maybe change it up a little bit more and
- 1:08:28Speaker 17: be a little bit less predictable in the way that
- 1:08:31Speaker 17: he sets against, you know, in traditional drop back setting.
- 1:08:34Speaker 17: So I think that there's things like that, and you know,
- 1:08:36Speaker 17: he's going to have to be able to do that.
- 1:08:37Speaker 17: I think we've talked about that in the past. Because
- 1:08:40Speaker 17: he doesn't have ideal length at that position. He's going
- 1:08:43Speaker 17: to have to be a technician. He's going to have
- 1:08:45Speaker 17: to win with his feet and win with his brain
- 1:08:48Speaker 17: and win with his technique and that sort of thing.
- 1:08:50Speaker 17: So that's what comes with experience. That's what you hope
- 1:08:53Speaker 17: at least.
- 1:08:54Speaker 5: All right, Well, that's going to wrap up the offensive
- 1:08:56Speaker 5: line where if they can develop and just stay healthy,
- 1:08:58Speaker 5: this might be one of the best groups in the
- 1:08:59Speaker 5: nf fell and now great moments in.
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: History.
- 1:09:06Speaker 10: I watched the post game, you know a little bit
- 1:09:09Speaker 10: I thought they thought the network struggled, yes, in that regard.
- 1:09:12Speaker 4: Yeah, the trophy presentation left a little bit to be desired.
- 1:09:15Speaker 10: Yeah, which unfortunately I watched some of that, and then
- 1:09:20Speaker 10: you know, some of the interviews, you know, all the players,
- 1:09:22Speaker 10: I kind of heard from each of the you know,
- 1:09:25Speaker 10: the the six main players. And then I was like, okay,
- 1:09:28Speaker 10: I sorry enough, and these two were up on Twitter.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: Well get it out.
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: I'll tell you something a little embarrassing.
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: I had on more than that.
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: Yes, I promise it's worse. I had on like a
- 1:09:39Speaker 4: clay face mask, you know, doing your skincare at night.
- 1:09:43Speaker 4: You know it's a girl thing. But I started tearing
- 1:09:47Speaker 4: up a little bit with the Douce stuff, like as
- 1:09:49Speaker 4: the little moment, little little Douce Tatum, I don't know,
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: just like and then hearing people talk about like Tommy,
- 1:09:57Speaker 4: I don't know, I'm emotional. It might be that time
- 1:09:59Speaker 4: of a month.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: But whatever, that's another great moment.
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: All right back here and Patriot's unfiltered. It's Alex, it's me,
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: it's Deuce, it's Matt and Nabooth, Evan and Paul are
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: on vacation. The last hurrah. Yeah, you know who else
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: is back?
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: The turf out there, Yeah, the green turf just like that.
- 1:10:20Speaker 5: If you want to know why they have turf instead
- 1:10:22Speaker 5: of grass, it's because it took about what a week
- 1:10:24Speaker 5: ago was the last game, and they already got turf
- 1:10:26Speaker 5: back in there, so.
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: It's easy to put in and easy to use, a lot.
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: Easy to drink, easy to enjoy. Bud Light, the official
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: sponsor of the New England Patriot.
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: Walk right into that one.
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: Darius and Louisville says, I'm so ready for the season
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: to begin. It's crazy, but I was wondering, what is
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: one game you're looking forward to this year? I have
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: a couple that I can't wait to watch. It's got
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: three actually, the Bills, both of them, the Chargers and
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: the Lions. I think those games will be really real
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: measuring sticks. And also that shirt looking real spiffy. Fred
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: I wish I had one.
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: I kind of want a second. That's my favorite T shirt.
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: I don't think we have anymore. I think they sold
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: out in the pro shop. We should get some more
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: orders pro shop.
- 1:11:16Speaker 9: I will find that out.
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: Okay, you should probably get some more, maybe an updated
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: one for this year.
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: Yeah, season two.
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: Do you ever get complimented on it in public?
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: No, because I don't wear it that often.
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: I have once, and it's like, listen, if you know
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: you know shirt like, I'll stop and talk to that
- 1:11:30Speaker 4: fan and chat.
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: Like the PU T shirts, I'll go, I'll pick a
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: different one.
- 1:11:35Speaker 5: I'm gonna say Monday Night football against the Chiefs at Arrowhead.
- 1:11:39Speaker 5: That's the final wraps up the final four games, you know,
- 1:11:43Speaker 5: begins the final four game set. I just think it's
- 1:11:47Speaker 5: where's Mahomes and the Chiefs? Are they back to what
- 1:11:49Speaker 5: they are? Are the Patriots? You know, where do they stand?
- 1:11:52Speaker 5: It's an opportunity to go into I mean, you guys
- 1:11:54Speaker 5: rave about that environment and how hard it is to
- 1:11:56Speaker 5: play there in December when it's cold. I think it's
- 1:11:59Speaker 5: that's to me is just a huge test to really
- 1:12:01Speaker 5: you know, measuring.
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: Stick of where the Patriots are are at that point.
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: So nobody is mentioning Wednesday night.
- 1:12:09Speaker 5: I mean, I mean it's also the opener though, Like
- 1:12:12Speaker 5: I'm super excited for that one.
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: I think it's a great test. That's such a high
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: drama of a rematch. Sorry, Fred, does this count as
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: a rematch?
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: No, it's not a Super Bowl rematch. It actually kind
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: of is a rematch, Like it's so close, yeah, yeah,
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: same everything, So I would excuse someone calling it a rematch.
- 1:12:34Speaker 5: I don't know how much that game is really gonna
- 1:12:36Speaker 5: affect the twenty twenty six season. Like I as a rule,
- 1:12:39Speaker 5: I don't overreact to anything that happens in September. I
- 1:12:41Speaker 5: think you're trying to figure it out.
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: It's a really tough, sweet winy right, ah, right, I
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: mean that would be amazing.
- 1:12:47Speaker 5: You know, Paul makes the point many times if that's
- 1:12:50Speaker 5: a hard game. I mean, you guys saw plenty of
- 1:12:52Speaker 5: times the Patriots raised the banner and then you know,
- 1:12:54Speaker 5: didn't quite play off the snuff. I mean a couple
- 1:12:56Speaker 5: of times they did too, the famous one they did
- 1:12:58Speaker 5: in twenty seventeen against.
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: The Chiefs when they got run over by Kareem Hunt.
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: But uh no, that's a huge game. I just I
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: don't I don't.
- 1:13:05Speaker 5: Think it's gonna it's I think it's gonna be more
- 1:13:07Speaker 5: connected to last year than this year, if that makes sense.
- 1:13:09Speaker 4: I think I'm just mostly excited about the Bills because
- 1:13:12Speaker 4: I think it's just going to turn into such a
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: great rivalry over the next couple of years. And last year,
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: that first Bills win felt like such a pivotal moment.
- 1:13:19Speaker 4: It really set the whole season on course for what
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: it became. So hopefully those become more tone setting games
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: in the future.
- 1:13:27Speaker 5: Yeah, but there's a lot of really you know, fun games.
- 1:13:30Speaker 5: I mean, it's like these ones I think all stand out.
- 1:13:32Speaker 5: But you know, even playing the Bears on Thursday night
- 1:13:35Speaker 5: football can Williams and that offense and you know what
- 1:13:37Speaker 5: they've been doing, you know the Lions he mentioned, I
- 1:13:41Speaker 5: mean in Munich like a weird you know, yeah, playing.
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: Off the beaten path over there.
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: Listen, the beauty of the NFL is that it's once
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: a week. Every game is an event. You know, it's
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: not one of one sixty two or one of one
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: of eighty two, it's one of seventeen. And so every
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: game is huge and you can think of a reason
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: to get up for any game. Like I'm like Jets Week.
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: I'll be excited about Jetsweek as I am for the
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: season opener, or as I am for Munich. You know,
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: every every week to me is like it's a build up.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: Sees it's a build up.
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: But it's so different than last year.
- 1:14:21Speaker 5: And that's like, I mean, the Patriots team got a
- 1:14:23Speaker 5: lot of crap about them playing an easy schedule, but
- 1:14:26Speaker 5: like it also was not you know, it's harder to
- 1:14:28Speaker 5: get up for those games against you know, Tennessee and
- 1:14:31Speaker 5: the rookie quarterback or you know Cleveland.
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: We don't even know who's playing quarterback for them.
- 1:14:36Speaker 5: But even the Broncos game, the second and last game,
- 1:14:39Speaker 5: reading that long Wickersham article about the Broncos and everything
- 1:14:43Speaker 5: that was going on behind the scenes and how much
- 1:14:46Speaker 5: they felt Bonnicks could have helped them against the Patriots. Now,
- 1:14:48Speaker 5: what the Broncos and Patriots look like the second last
- 1:14:50Speaker 5: week in the season, I don't know.
- 1:14:51Speaker 4: You know, the Broncos will probably have a lot of.
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: Broncos, probably have a circle.
- 1:14:54Speaker 5: Maybe by that point, though you're a new team, you're
- 1:14:56Speaker 5: not quite as connected.
- 1:14:57Speaker 4: I guess it depends what the playoff implications are.
- 1:14:59Speaker 5: Look at that point, you know that and that AFC
- 1:15:02Speaker 5: West is just is just a really competitive division with
- 1:15:05Speaker 5: some uncertainy this year, and the Patriots are going to have,
- 1:15:08Speaker 5: you know, a big say and how that all plays out.
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: So I don't know if this is true. But Chris
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: writes in as much as you have talked about Forge
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: in Foxborough, I'm surprised that you haven't mentioned that the
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: season two episode two dropped a day early. Watched before
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: the show today and found it excellent as with the
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: others did Is that true? Can I get someone to
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: let me know whether or not this dropped? I thought
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: we weren't releasing it until tomorrow. I know it's pretty
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: much done, not on YouTube.
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: I'm referring to the one minute.
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: I think, Chris, you might be thinking of just episode
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: right one seasons.
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: Is a people are having a collective heart attack that
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: it accidentally.
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: I mean, that's great if everyone thought it was ready
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: to go, but I don't think that.
- 1:16:00Speaker 5: Yeah, now it's not on there. The episode one is up,
- 1:16:03Speaker 5: of course.
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: Yeah, episode one, Season two is up, but not episode two. Yeah,
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: don't scare us like that. Oh somebody uh text me
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: or something that from upstairs that we might know it looks.
- 1:16:15Speaker 5: I mean, I've looked at YouTube and Patriots dot Com
- 1:16:17Speaker 5: and both just look like episode one.
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: So don't worry for in a rogue published.
- 1:16:23Speaker 4: Yeah, publishers on the schedule.
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: Oops, let's see Bill in Norfolk, May, Virginia. I don't
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: know which is better, Christian having a decent call where
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: he isn't a heel or him being locked out of
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: his car like an idiot.
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:16:39Speaker 5: I thought I thought that the fans of would have
- 1:16:41Speaker 5: some fun with Christian's story about not being able to
- 1:16:45Speaker 5: get into his tesla, speaking of like Wi Fi and
- 1:16:51Speaker 5: all that. So we're talking about cars, and I have
- 1:16:54Speaker 5: an electric car and I put in a charger which
- 1:16:58Speaker 5: is at the end of the walkway's probably about, I
- 1:17:00Speaker 5: don't know, fifteen yards from the front of my house.
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: And when I first put it in, like I put
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: it in February or March, like the Wi Fi reached
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: out there, so like I can connect that charge of
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: to the Wi Fi and I can control it and
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: all that stuff, which which is great. But all of
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: a sudden, like the Wi Fi, I can't connect anymore.
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: So I bought one of those Infinity Wi Fi extenders.
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: Doesn't work. Oh so I spent all that last night
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: on the phone with them God because I was getting
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: a weak signal. I'm standing three feet away from it.
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: And they called me today going through things again, so
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: they're gonna have to call on a technician. But I
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: watch my freaking work.
- 1:17:42Speaker 4: I used to work.
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: It used to work, you know, so frustrating.
- 1:17:46Speaker 5: I mean, that's the worst, right, you know, it can
- 1:17:49Speaker 5: do it and then it's just like does the equipment
- 1:17:51Speaker 5: start to go back or yeah.
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: So frustrated. Podcast like it just remin reminds me like
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: technology can be good, but it also be a pain
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: in the ass.
- 1:18:01Speaker 7: Right.
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: You know. Now you have an electric car, you kind
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: of have to be connected to it.
- 1:18:06Speaker 5: And I'm sure there's somebody listening right now and be
- 1:18:08Speaker 5: like Fred, you're doing it all wrong. You can't go
- 1:18:10Speaker 5: through the companies for the Wi Fi. You got to
- 1:18:11Speaker 5: do your own thing and get your own little satellite,
- 1:18:14Speaker 5: you know, and then it'll work fine.
- 1:18:17Speaker 9: For your neighbors aren't stealing any of your WiFi.
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: Copilot is Actually that's one of the suggestions for copilot
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: right now.
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: What is? What's that?
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: It's a new neighbors might be using Wi Fi network and.
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: That degrades it.
- 1:18:31Speaker 9: Yeah, what vacation, New furniture the signal.
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: I don't think so, because the house is fine. Inside
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: the house, throughout the house is fine. So no, I
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: don't And there's a lot of space between houses where
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: I am, so I don't think that's the problem.
- 1:18:51Speaker 9: It gave a bunch of other reasons.
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: New furniture, Yeah, new construction could weaken signals that.
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: Yeah, uh so, I don't know. We'll see. We'll try
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: to get Exfinity out there. That'll be fun.
- 1:19:07Speaker 5: Yeah, sometime there between tomorrow and October.
- 1:19:14Speaker 4: Be home.
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: Yeah, right, we'll be there between eight in the morning
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: and in nine at night maybe yeah, I mean talking
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: about crappy.
- 1:19:24Speaker 5: I gotta go to the R and V tomorrow and
- 1:19:26Speaker 5: I'm not looking forward to that one at all and
- 1:19:28Speaker 5: be like eight am, line up, what do you have
- 1:19:31Speaker 5: to go there for the registrar. I got to reregister
- 1:19:33Speaker 5: my car too, because this is the thing. My car is,
- 1:19:36Speaker 5: you know, old, but I needed to get the insurance
- 1:19:39Speaker 5: stamp again, like it's been insured. But now the guy
- 1:19:41Speaker 5: told me today, he's like, oh, they started doing this
- 1:19:43Speaker 5: again after COVID that you can't just renew online without
- 1:19:47Speaker 5: getting another insurance staff. I just he said, he said,
- 1:19:51Speaker 5: this is one of the first ones I've seen where
- 1:19:53Speaker 5: you had to do it.
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: So I guess this is coming.
- 1:19:54Speaker 4: How many years this?
- 1:19:57Speaker 5: I mean I've had this car for for eight years,
- 1:19:59Speaker 5: I mean since I moved back here. So it's just
- 1:20:01Speaker 5: another reason. I'm like, why are they trying to put
- 1:20:03Speaker 5: more people into the d m V. You know you've
- 1:20:05Speaker 5: heard all heard that ad on TV, like you can't.
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: I can't stamp it like I got it, you.
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: Know about the woman who sings the.
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's exactly what they sound.
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: Like reference But it's funny Nonetheless.
- 1:20:20Speaker 5: I can't register your cay if you don't have a
- 1:20:22Speaker 5: stamp from your insurance.
- 1:20:25Speaker 4: You got it, like the light bulb went off.
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a song at the end where she sings
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: and she's got this like voice, like I can't even
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: describe it. It's it's so weird, Ye writes in Happy Thursday, Fred.
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: It's a penalty kick Todd game. You need one goal
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: for the lead. But it has to be a member
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: from p U. Who are you picking and it can't
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: be Alex Ah. I probably go with me, probably do
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: the skating long. I have strong ankles.
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: I mean, Paul blew out his achilles. Yeah, so we
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: got to be careful with him.
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: And I don't know Evan.
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: Evan would probably have all the angy be like you
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: can kind of get it. It's seventy five degrees.
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: Yeah, but Evan will only get you that far, will
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: do all this analysis, and then I'll approach the ball
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: and stubb his foot in the ground and like not
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: even get the kickoff. So yeah, I think it would
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: have to be deuced. Yeah, yeah, I work out, you know.
- 1:21:26Speaker 4: Yeah, that's how he's the only one. Evan's not still
- 1:21:29Speaker 4: working out.
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: I was pitching.
- 1:21:30Speaker 4: I mean, Evan never did work out.
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: No, I don't even know if I'd have Paul pitch.
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: Have you ever seen him?
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: He's like throws the wrong hand.
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: It's like all slurve and really yeah, like was he
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: junk fifty miles an hour? Yeah, I don't know if
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: you weren't here, obviously, but we had the Baseball Challenge.
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: So we were doing a show and we were making
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: fun of Paul, and he said, you know, Andy was
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: on the show at the time, and it was me
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: and some He said, none of you would be evil
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: able to even get the ball out of the infield
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: if I was pitching. So I said, all right, that's it,
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: We're going to do it. So we went down to
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: a high school. We had balls, and we had catchers,
- 1:22:11Speaker 2: equipment and bats and everything, and we all brought and uh,
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: I forget who was filming it. We filmed it, of course,
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: and uh you know, first pitch, Andy hit one out
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: of the infield. It was a it was a high
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: pop up to probably shallow center, but he got it out.
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: He got it out. He wouldn't throw me a strike
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: like that. It was way outside. I finally hit a
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: solid ground ball up the middle. But technically you can
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: make the case that wasn't out you know, travel that far,
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: but it wasn't out of the infield in the air,
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: so I never made really good contact with him, but
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: he wouldn't throw a strike.
- 1:22:46Speaker 4: This footage, when did you do it?
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: Fowere you get me to that before the newslet our
- 1:22:53Speaker 3: it department was down here getting me access to old
- 1:22:56Speaker 3: footage so I can find it.
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: Yeah, Bob Doyle probably knows where it is is. But
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: it was fun. We had fun.
- 1:23:03Speaker 4: I need that for the news.
- 1:23:04Speaker 5: One of these random sports challenges popped up in the past.
- 1:23:06Speaker 5: They don't They don't really anymore, you.
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: Know, Yeah, the push up contest, and then you get yeah, yeah,
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: it's probably.
- 1:23:16Speaker 5: Because you guys at that version of the show was
- 1:23:19Speaker 5: a lot more like yelling and so they probably.
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: Push up you no problem, but you know, there's a
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: lot it seems like a lot of that energy going on.
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: You would hit it out of the infield. I love
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: father on the gauntlet down like none.
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: Of you would even get it out of the infield.
- 1:23:36Speaker 4: Did you get like dressed up for it? Did you
- 1:23:38Speaker 4: know it was andy there? What did you wear?
- 1:23:42Speaker 2: Just shorts?
- 1:23:42Speaker 4: What didn't go like hardo.
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: Let's see Jay are what's that Jay in Minnesota? Hearing
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: you guys talk about how much sports and the big
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: game or match mean to people, it got me thinking
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: of out some controversial calls or events in sports, and
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: I want to know what you'd think the biggest controversial
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: calls or play in sports to you in your lifetime.
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: I remember watching the des Brian catch slash no catch
- 1:24:13Speaker 2: as a team as a team and thinking that the
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: Cowboys got robbed. Let me know what you guys think.
- 1:24:22Speaker 5: There's a couple, a couple, I mean Gronk and Luke
- 1:24:25Speaker 5: Keigley in the end zone against the Panthers.
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: That was that one when he got He's just like I.
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: Was right there so mad at that one. That was
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: one though. The Olympic Russia VERSUS America basketball game when
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: Russia basically had three violations at the end of the
- 1:24:40Speaker 2: game ended up winning. Remember when Russia beat the USA
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: and Olympic basket that was huge controverse seventies something like that. Yeah,
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: I remember that one. So that was one. Uh what
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: was it the Red Sox in the in the reds
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: or the I think it was Red Sox in the
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: reds Uh, arm Brister, the ref, the umpire calling him
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: either safer, I forget which one is. His back was
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: to the play and he's making the safe motion at Armbrister.
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: I think that was a huge one for me. That
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: was ridiculous. What a controversial games for you.
- 1:25:22Speaker 5: The pail Mary that one back back in twenty twelve
- 1:25:27Speaker 5: against the Packers and Seahawks.
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: You remember that one? Yeah at the end, Yeah, I don't.
- 1:25:32Speaker 5: I feel like Paul would have to be good at
- 1:25:33Speaker 5: this one because he yeah, his friend one things, Yeah,
- 1:25:36Speaker 5: when rests, when refs went wrong.
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: Yeah, he's got he's got to steal.
- 1:25:40Speaker 5: The hockey one said, you know, uh no, I don't
- 1:25:46Speaker 5: know nothing.
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: There's probably some I just in the moment, I'm struggling
- 1:25:50Speaker 2: to come up with. Yeah.
- 1:25:52Speaker 5: But I also as somebody who doesn't really like I
- 1:25:54Speaker 5: just look at the refs as like life, like sometimes
- 1:25:58Speaker 5: life gives you a break and sometimes life a crappy
- 1:26:00Speaker 5: turn for you, And so I don't get too.
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: Caught up in that.
- 1:26:03Speaker 5: Like and for the most part, I feel like things
- 1:26:05Speaker 5: generally even themselves out.
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: But I don't. I don't hold grudges against it.
- 1:26:11Speaker 4: Does Bryant One did feel like it was just all
- 1:26:14Speaker 4: of Twitter universally like what that's where the what is
- 1:26:17Speaker 4: a catch came from? You know, that was kind of
- 1:26:19Speaker 4: a pivotal one.
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: But yeah, I mean it's it's obviously so different now
- 1:26:23Speaker 5: with social media, and you know, if a call.
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: Happened in the days of newspapers, what are you going
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: to do? Writeing a letter to the editor about you
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: didn't like it?
- 1:26:31Speaker 7: You know.
- 1:26:31Speaker 5: So it's a lot more people being vocal and fan
- 1:26:33Speaker 5: bases having a platform to express their dissatisfaction.
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: So I think we're probably a little bit more familiar
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: with recent ones.
- 1:26:40Speaker 4: But there's got to be fans have the ability to
- 1:26:44Speaker 4: frame and um, you know.
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: I hate that too.
- 1:26:47Speaker 5: I mean that's just you know, human error can be
- 1:26:49Speaker 5: part of the part of the sport too.
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: I mean there's that famous play I think it's a
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: USC the band is on the field end up, Like
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: how did that play not get whistled dead? I mean
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: there's like people running all over there.
- 1:27:01Speaker 5: I know, I know, you know, yeah, yeah, yeah, I
- 1:27:06Speaker 5: try to forget him. Yeah, somebody's gonna call it and
- 1:27:09Speaker 5: be like you idiots, yeah this one.
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: And I was like, oh right, I feel like there's.
- 1:27:12Speaker 4: A really recent either NFC or AFC Championship where there's
- 1:27:16Speaker 4: something controversial towards the end. But I don't remember. I've
- 1:27:19Speaker 4: just I forget more than I remember these days. Well,
- 1:27:22Speaker 4: so much content.
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: Twenty eleven, Oh no, no, no, which is would be
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: the Ravens Openers. No, the super Bowl? One of the
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: super Bowls that we lost. There were a couple calls again.
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: In the grass I mean two thousand and seven in
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: the grass Eli Manning.
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: Yeah one, but that wasn't so much. I forget which one.
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: It was like back of the end zone.
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, Oh okay, so that's the Eagle
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: Super Bowl.
- 1:27:47Speaker 5: I think you're talking about where they Super Bowl where
- 1:27:49Speaker 5: they like he didn't really get didn't have control and
- 1:27:52Speaker 5: two feet but the NFL said good touchdown and it
- 1:27:55Speaker 5: didn't look like it should have been a touch you.
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: Know, then all the zapproval film stills come out and everything.
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: That's one we.
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: Probably should have thought of that thoughts on.
- 1:28:02Speaker 5: That definitely was one that was a little like, you know, yeah,
- 1:28:05Speaker 5: everybody's scoring left and right in that game anyway.
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean there's so much that happened that it
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: kind of gets lost a little.
- 1:28:10Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, the the Philly Special I mean that wasn't Yeah, no,
- 1:28:15Speaker 5: that was that was that was illegal play there too.
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: I think some people say that with that, really I
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: think so.
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: Yeah again, Yeah, so I'm sure there's a lot we're missing.
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: So if you have him right in or calling, Laurie
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: wants a Forge in Foxboro shirt. So we gotta we
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: gotta see about ordering more of these.
- 1:28:34Speaker 9: Email Matisi's just out of the office today.
- 1:28:36Speaker 2: Yeah, Sora morning. We should get the design too, so
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: we should probably redesign it a little bit so it's
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: a little bit different. Yeah.
- 1:28:45Speaker 5: There was significant discussion whether the Eagles were in an
- 1:28:48Speaker 5: illegal formation. The NFL rules states at least even players
- 1:28:51Speaker 5: need to be on line of scrimmage the time of
- 1:28:52Speaker 5: the snap. Critics, including former NFL officiating had Mike Perera,
- 1:28:56Speaker 5: argued that wide receiver al Seon Jeffrey was not properly
- 1:28:58Speaker 5: alignely Eagles only had six players on the line.
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: Well, go to the biggest sports controversies in history, all right,
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: you know, I'm sure you know there's a way to
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: look that up nowadays.
- 1:29:10Speaker 4: Well, that'll give you controversies, not necessarily controversial calls.
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: Is that what the email was? In particular? Controversial?
- 1:29:18Speaker 4: Calls, Yeah, this is more controversies.
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: You're right.
- 1:29:22Speaker 5: I read the seventy two of Olympic men's basketball final
- 1:29:24Speaker 5: us Verst Soviet Union guy comes in at number four. Oh,
- 1:29:27Speaker 5: I was so mad the Lance Armstrong doping scandal.
- 1:29:32Speaker 2: You know what. It's all so Paul and Andy will
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: know this. I was probably the last person on earth
- 1:29:37Speaker 2: who was defending Lance Strong. I'm like, how could he
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: be doping? Get the rubbers on risk all that stuff
- 1:29:45Speaker 2: for cancer? He would never do that, right up to
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: the end, And I was devast well not devastated, but
- 1:29:51Speaker 2: I was really disappointed that, you two, the.
- 1:29:55Speaker 4: Doping felt like the least disappointing part about all he did.
- 1:29:58Speaker 4: Like he tried to ruin people's lives to cover up
- 1:30:01Speaker 4: what he was doing, you know, and like successfully did.
- 1:30:04Speaker 5: And it was such like an interesting journey for lancear
- 1:30:06Speaker 5: because he was an amazing cycler and.
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: Then Cheryl crow right, and then like he gets cancer.
- 1:30:11Speaker 5: I mean he was like everywhere in his body, right,
- 1:30:13Speaker 5: and then he beats it and he comes back and
- 1:30:15Speaker 5: he's even better, and it's like, what an amazing story,
- 1:30:17Speaker 5: and he was like on top of the world.
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: And then all for not Yep, it all just fell apart.
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: They said, well, yeah, we.
- 1:30:23Speaker 3: Got Microsoft coat pilot has the Hand of God by
- 1:30:27Speaker 3: Diego Maradona in the nineteen eighty six as the number
- 1:30:29Speaker 3: one world.
- 1:30:30Speaker 2: They mentioned that in a couple of the World Cup Games,
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: the Hand of God play.
- 1:30:34Speaker 9: Yeah, he scored a goal in the quarterfinals with his hand.
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: Yeah. The nineteen nineteen Black SOXCA scandal.
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, your Red.
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: Sox fop thing is on here though it's not there.
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: Yeah, that gave me five here with the I think
- 1:30:53Speaker 2: it was seventy five.
- 1:30:54Speaker 5: Is anyone familiar with the Paralympic Spanish basketball scandal?
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: No, okay, no, they had a guy in a wheelchair.
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: It wasn't disabled.
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: Oh my god, oh jeez, Oh my god.
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: It's worse.
- 1:31:05Speaker 5: The Spanish team won gold in the Sydney Paralympics, but
- 1:31:08Speaker 5: it was real later that ten of the twelve players.
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: Were not mentally disabled to having pretended.
- 1:31:13Speaker 4: To pretended to have mental health.
- 1:31:15Speaker 9: Is Spain was stripped at that movie with Johnny Knoxville.
- 1:31:18Speaker 5: That's a comedy movie the ringer, Right, Yeah, yeah, wow?
- 1:31:25Speaker 4: What about when those was it BC basketball players got
- 1:31:28Speaker 4: tied up with the mob. There's a thirty for thirty
- 1:31:30Speaker 4: about it playing for the Mob. Was that a big
- 1:31:33Speaker 4: deal at the time or did it feel like it?
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: I don't know that one.
- 1:31:35Speaker 4: Yeah, no, maybe not.
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: Then wow, well there was yeah, what about Yeah the thirty.
- 1:31:41Speaker 4: Playing for the Mob, right, that's what it's called. Maybe
- 1:31:43Speaker 4: maybe not?
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: That was the cartel? Yeah, yeah, I saw that. That
- 1:31:47Speaker 2: was a good thirty for thirty. Yeah, yeah, mob. I'm
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: not familiar cartel. Cartel, cartel, Oh yeah, soccer cartel.
- 1:31:57Speaker 4: Well the one I'm talking about. Oh, you're talking about
- 1:32:01Speaker 4: the two Escobars best thirty for thirty. There is right
- 1:32:05Speaker 4: right right where they kill the soccer player and.
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: It's all right. It was that their own goal, but
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: he was their star and.
- 1:32:14Speaker 2: They killed him. God not good.
- 1:32:17Speaker 4: Crazy though Matt Wright sin as someone who recently moved
- 1:32:22Speaker 4: out for the first time, I'm looking forward to Fred's
- 1:32:24Speaker 4: new podcast.
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: I have a mobile home with my partner and three dogs.
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: Will this include gardening and possibly even renovating outdated sheds?
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: Gardening to the point of flowers and stuff. I don't
- 1:32:37Speaker 2: do vegetables like ala, but the guy that I'm doing
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: it with in his backyard he has apple trees and
- 1:32:46Speaker 2: all that, so I'm sure we'll get into that.
- 1:32:48Speaker 4: Does he also have a historic home on the Cape.
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: No, he has more of a modern home. His backyard
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: like won an award. Really yeah, it's got like, you know,
- 1:32:57Speaker 2: a pool and everything. It's really nice. Spent forth of
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: July there.
- 1:33:01Speaker 4: Yeah nice.
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:33:02Speaker 4: Has it been like featured in like Boston magazine or something.
- 1:33:05Speaker 2: Maybe Cape Cod magazine? Okay, yeah, yeah, but it's it's
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: really well done.
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: Yea, his backyard. He like just retire at like forty
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: or something, and like he just no no, no, he.
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: Works, yuh works at home remotely. But yeah, it's yeah,
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: we'll have it on the podcast.
- 1:33:26Speaker 4: You'll have the old home stuff, he'll have the new
- 1:33:28Speaker 4: like smart home.
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: How many hydranges does he have? Yeah, not a lot
- 1:33:32Speaker 2: of hydrangers I have.
- 1:33:34Speaker 4: I have a lot.
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you're on the Cape and you got a garden,
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: you better have something.
- 1:33:38Speaker 2: Yeah, you gotta have the hydranges. Uh. So we'll get
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: into that. Mahen, I hope you'm pronouncing your first name right.
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:33:51Speaker 2: Do you think a Booty and Digs reunion can happen
- 1:33:54Speaker 2: in d C?
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: Sure?
- 1:33:59Speaker 5: Yeah, I could see that. I mean, you know, I
- 1:34:01Speaker 5: think Terry mclaurin's getting a little up there. I mean,
- 1:34:04Speaker 5: I think they they could use a little I mean
- 1:34:06Speaker 5: they're another team. I think they're kind of running it
- 1:34:08Speaker 5: back with their offense for the most part and hoping
- 1:34:10Speaker 5: they stay healthy.
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: Sure I could see that.
- 1:34:13Speaker 5: I mean, I tund like Burke Breer had a little
- 1:34:14Speaker 5: report on Booty the pager is trying to do right
- 1:34:17Speaker 5: by him.
- 1:34:17Speaker 2: Well I heard he deleted all his patriots.
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: Yeah, stuff is yeah the other day. Well it's uh,
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: I think mean next week's going to be interesting.
- 1:34:27Speaker 5: I think because you might get some movement, you'll probably
- 1:34:29Speaker 5: get the you'll get the pup guys curious who's on that, uh,
- 1:34:34Speaker 5: and and maybe they will try.
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: To do I don't know if we talked about it,
- 1:34:37Speaker 2: but Diggs posted recently, uh, you know, kind of frustrated
- 1:34:41Speaker 2: with what's going on, like, you know, saying, in essence,
- 1:34:45Speaker 2: you can't tell me that I'm not better than a
- 1:34:47Speaker 2: lot of the number two receivers in this league, and
- 1:34:50Speaker 2: like you can't use me on your roster. Yeah, I
- 1:34:53Speaker 2: mean he's getting a little frustrated that no one's you know,
- 1:34:57Speaker 2: I wonder with the timing of the offield stuff with him,
- 1:35:00Speaker 2: and I know you know that all got squared away
- 1:35:02Speaker 2: for him.
- 1:35:02Speaker 5: But if that didn't really coincide with free agency, and
- 1:35:05Speaker 5: that led teams to say, you know what, let's just
- 1:35:07Speaker 5: wait till we get to camp, see what we got,
- 1:35:09Speaker 5: see how it's coming together, see who gets hurt, and
- 1:35:11Speaker 5: you know, if we have to make a move, let's
- 1:35:13Speaker 5: do it.
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: But I go back to Kansas City with him.
- 1:35:15Speaker 5: I just think, you know, that's another one where they
- 1:35:18Speaker 5: need some help with around Patrick Mahomes.
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: I think he can still do it. You know, he
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: was a great, great citizen here.
- 1:35:25Speaker 5: I mean, I'm surprised that a team wouldn't jump at
- 1:35:28Speaker 5: him after he turned in a thousand yard season off
- 1:35:30Speaker 5: and a torn acl You.
- 1:35:33Speaker 4: Said you saw something that Kaishaan cleared his socials of Patriots.
- 1:35:37Speaker 2: Yeff, yeah, booty, Uh huh.
- 1:35:39Speaker 7: No.
- 1:35:39Speaker 4: He is in Franklin, mass right now, and he's going
- 1:35:43Speaker 4: to play basketball at King Street Memorial brack and thirty
- 1:35:46Speaker 4: according to his Instagram story. So he's inviting people to
- 1:35:49Speaker 4: play basketball with him, and his bio says wide receiver
- 1:35:53Speaker 4: at Patriots with a blue heart. Okay, and there's still
- 1:35:56Speaker 4: pictures of him in uniform.
- 1:35:57Speaker 2: All right, I got bad info.
- 1:35:59Speaker 4: He did some pictures. It seems like because he only
- 1:36:02Speaker 4: has five now either team stuff and then him in
- 1:36:07Speaker 4: front of a g wagon.
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: What do you do?
- 1:36:10Speaker 5: I mean if they if they are like we got
- 1:36:12Speaker 5: to move on, we gotta get you know, but you don't.
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: Really have a taker and stupid to just release him
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: right like?
- 1:36:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I listen, everybody knows I love Booty. You know
- 1:36:22Speaker 2: I think I don't think he's got a big upside.
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: Let's see, uh what I was thinking?
- 1:36:32Speaker 4: Upside? Backside? Yeah, he's good downside jokes in my head.
- 1:36:36Speaker 2: Who's this? Doesn't say who he is or her? I
- 1:36:39Speaker 2: just want to compliment the team. Many have talked about
- 1:36:43Speaker 2: Alex as being super informative, bringing a great vibe to
- 1:36:46Speaker 2: the show, and she is also beautiful. Why have people
- 1:36:50Speaker 2: not commented on her humor? She is hilarious To be honest,
- 1:36:55Speaker 2: I have almost lost bladder control during the Bridesmaid speech off.
- 1:37:01Speaker 4: People love that a little bit.
- 1:37:04Speaker 2: Yeah, love Deuce too. I really enjoy all his voices, accents,
- 1:37:08Speaker 2: special effects that he can just do. Evan is great
- 1:37:12Speaker 2: as the ball knower with X and O's breakdown. I
- 1:37:15Speaker 2: love Paul's accent and Devil's advocate attitude. It's just so Massachusetts,
- 1:37:20Speaker 2: New England to me, I no longer live there, so
- 1:37:22Speaker 2: it makes me feel at home. And of course Fred
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: the ringleader making sure that uh all on the panel
- 1:37:29Speaker 2: get their chance to speak with no one person dominating.
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: I don't know about that one.
- 1:37:33Speaker 4: It really is a great caricature for a New England man.
- 1:37:36Speaker 2: But I don't think he's an accent.
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: Though he doesn't, he can charm it up. Oh yeah,
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: we all cannot. His is so.
- 1:37:45Speaker 4: Subtle and we're so used to it because we know
- 1:37:47Speaker 4: so many people with accents that are so subtle. But
- 1:37:50Speaker 4: if you put him anywhere else, I think people would
- 1:37:52Speaker 4: pick up on it.
- 1:37:53Speaker 5: I think especially you have a couple of drinks with him,
- 1:37:55Speaker 5: then you can start you are start to go.
- 1:37:58Speaker 2: Another person wanting at Forge and Fox Spurrow shirt.
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: We don't do the.
- 1:38:02Speaker 4: I know that's your actual team here.
- 1:38:04Speaker 2: We've got to get a to.
- 1:38:06Speaker 4: Be like a special prize. You can't just be giving
- 1:38:09Speaker 4: those away like the PU T shirt.
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: This is nice. They're really good, Yeah, really soft.
- 1:38:13Speaker 4: I think forty seven brand. They're so soft, they're perfect.
- 1:38:16Speaker 4: Heather Gray, it's a perfect T.
- 1:38:17Speaker 2: Shirt Gray it yeap. Let's see Tyler has a would
- 1:38:22Speaker 2: you rather Tyler from Ludlow. Someone kept so would you
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: rather someone captures a video of you picking your nose
- 1:38:31Speaker 2: and eating it? Oh, and it becomes a viral video,
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: or all of your arguments with your partner are transcribed
- 1:38:38Speaker 2: and sent to their parents. Oh god, oh I do
- 1:38:41Speaker 2: the second one. Yeah, me too, Because I'm always right right,
- 1:38:45Speaker 2: I'd be.
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: Like, wow, you're taking this so well?
- 1:38:47Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, I don't know you're you think next parents
- 1:38:54Speaker 2: would be like, you're a little irrational here, Alex on
- 1:38:56Speaker 2: this argument, I don't know what you're doing.
- 1:38:58Speaker 4: Here sometimes because not being Franks like I can be
- 1:39:02Speaker 4: very irrational laws and also like I think the first one,
- 1:39:05Speaker 4: I could make it look cute, like a hot mugshot
- 1:39:07Speaker 4: or something like you might be able to.
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: I think most in laws or whatever they two seconds
- 1:39:14Speaker 2: of it. They'd be like, I don't want to watch it.
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: I know, I know, I want everything to be bliss
- 1:39:20Speaker 2: to you. I don't want to even acknowledge that their mind.
- 1:39:23Speaker 4: That's how yeah right? Exactly?
- 1:39:25Speaker 5: Do you guys encounter a lot of couples who bicker
- 1:39:27Speaker 5: like around you, like you know, oh.
- 1:39:29Speaker 4: You know not anymore. But growing up, my friends in
- 1:39:33Speaker 4: their early twenties dating pieces of work, like to put
- 1:39:36Speaker 4: it mildly, Yeah.
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: Like older couples who are like you guys have been
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: at this for a while.
- 1:39:42Speaker 4: And like my grandparents, Oh my god, fifty years how
- 1:39:47Speaker 4: how I don't know how my mom and uncle lived
- 1:39:49Speaker 4: in that house. God bless my grandfather soul.
- 1:39:52Speaker 2: Would you rather receive free dinner in the North End
- 1:39:55Speaker 2: for life? But you have to brag the entire dinner
- 1:39:59Speaker 2: about how it's the best Italian food? Or free Duncan
- 1:40:03Speaker 2: for life? But you talk in the thickest Boston accent
- 1:40:05Speaker 2: whenever you're holding a coffee.
- 1:40:07Speaker 5: Oh God, Duncan, duncan, Yeah, oh yeah, because you can
- 1:40:10Speaker 5: get it anywhere.
- 1:40:11Speaker 2: I think if I ate too much Italian food like that,
- 1:40:13Speaker 2: I would get a lot of heartburn.
- 1:40:15Speaker 4: I look at Brendan game. Five pounds plus the.
- 1:40:18Speaker 9: Fact you don't have to drive into the North End?
- 1:40:20Speaker 2: Right? Would you rather for the next one hundred days,
- 1:40:25Speaker 2: you're going to wake up and relive the same day
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: over and over groundhog days style?
- 1:40:30Speaker 4: What day is it?
- 1:40:32Speaker 2: Would you rather repeat your first day of high school
- 1:40:35Speaker 2: or your first day of your official W two job? Which?
- 1:40:40Speaker 2: Which is which? I don't know.
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: It seems like three choices iconic first.
- 1:40:45Speaker 2: Okay, so the first one is wake up and do
- 1:40:48Speaker 2: the groundhog day.
- 1:40:49Speaker 4: For one hundred day, so that's like a.
- 1:40:51Speaker 2: Third of a year.
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: It depends on what day.
- 1:40:54Speaker 5: Is it one of the best days of my life
- 1:40:55Speaker 5: or worst days of my life, or just for the
- 1:40:57Speaker 5: next it's just the same day and it's starting.
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: To yeah, or would you rather repeat your first day
- 1:41:04Speaker 2: of high school or your first day of your first
- 1:41:06Speaker 2: official W two job you ever had? I, Alex, please
- 1:41:11Speaker 2: tell the story about your epic first day of high school.
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: I didn't quite catch what you said.
- 1:41:14Speaker 2: Did you say you kissed someone in study?
- 1:41:16Speaker 7: No?
- 1:41:16Speaker 4: I didn't. I just like I saw my high school
- 1:41:19Speaker 4: crush for the first time. We had a study hall together,
- 1:41:22Speaker 4: and then I met my English teacher too, who became
- 1:41:25Speaker 4: like a great crush, just a great dude. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:41:30Speaker 4: I know I had a good I crushed high school guys.
- 1:41:33Speaker 4: I don't know to tell you I didn't.
- 1:41:35Speaker 2: High school was good. I can't complain about high school
- 1:41:38Speaker 2: like I feel bad for the kids where high school
- 1:41:40Speaker 2: was freaking hell, torture and hate, Like, I genuinely feel
- 1:41:45Speaker 2: bad for them, because that's the years of your life.
- 1:41:50Speaker 5: Yeah, it's pretty cool. My son is in eighth grade.
- 1:41:52Speaker 5: He'll be a freshman, you know, in the next month
- 1:41:54Speaker 5: or so. And he's a lacrosse player and they do
- 1:41:56Speaker 5: just tennis ball lacrosse with the varsity team behind one
- 1:41:58Speaker 5: of the elementary schools, and so he's been going to it.
- 1:42:01Speaker 5: And you know, I don't didn't watch her anything, but
- 1:42:02Speaker 5: when I go to pick him up, and I'm like,
- 1:42:03Speaker 5: this is so cool, you know, just talking about starting
- 1:42:06Speaker 5: high school and the seniors, you know, calling them little
- 1:42:08Speaker 5: funny nicknames. You know, it's just that's such a cool
- 1:42:11Speaker 5: time when you're the young kid and you're looking I mean,
- 1:42:13Speaker 5: remember how old all the seniors seem when you were
- 1:42:15Speaker 5: like a freshman.
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: They are, like they still look old to me, Like
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: I see pictures of the kids that you know, they
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: like sixteen.
- 1:42:20Speaker 4: No, I say that all the time. Like I got
- 1:42:21Speaker 4: to high school and I was like, oh, these are
- 1:42:22Speaker 4: like men.
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: Yeah, you know that's the problem.
- 1:42:26Speaker 2: Act. Hey, what's up. So did you date older guys
- 1:42:30Speaker 2: when you were in high school?
- 1:42:32Speaker 4: No? No, my boyfriend, one of them, my high school
- 1:42:35Speaker 4: boyfriend was in my class. I had a flirtation with
- 1:42:37Speaker 4: a senior as a freshman.
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: Though you had a flair or was he she was
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: marked for death as he's.
- 1:42:43Speaker 2: Like, But but it just seemed to me like, at
- 1:42:45Speaker 2: least in my high school, like all the good looking
- 1:42:48Speaker 2: young freshmen would all date the older guys.
- 1:42:51Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah I didn't, but also like that flirtation was
- 1:42:56Speaker 4: hardly put down when the senior in question brought me
- 1:43:01Speaker 4: to school in his car because we had a half day,
- 1:43:03Speaker 4: so we went out to breakfast. And then my best
- 1:43:05Speaker 4: friend's older brother, who was his friend and hockey teammates,
- 1:43:08Speaker 4: saw me get out of his car that morning for
- 1:43:11Speaker 4: school and like there are friends and had like a
- 1:43:13Speaker 4: little bit of an altercate, not like a physical or anything.
- 1:43:16Speaker 2: But was it a Camaro.
- 1:43:18Speaker 4: No, it was a Honda Civic, like a ninety nine
- 1:43:21Speaker 4: blue Honda Civic. And yeah, my Joey Roberts, my best
- 1:43:26Speaker 4: friend's older brother, who looked at me like a little
- 1:43:29Speaker 4: sonor it was like hell no, But there was always
- 1:43:31Speaker 4: not happening.
- 1:43:32Speaker 5: There was always the you know, yeah, the girls, girls
- 1:43:34Speaker 5: mature faster than boys. So you get to be a
- 1:43:36Speaker 5: freshman and then you know, but then by the time
- 1:43:38Speaker 5: you get the senior, all of a sudden, you the
- 1:43:40Speaker 5: girls are like, oh, now you actually look like you
- 1:43:43Speaker 5: know one of those guys, the seniors. Now you know
- 1:43:45Speaker 5: then there were more relationships, but I totally that was
- 1:43:47Speaker 5: I mean, I remember playing football and you know, being
- 1:43:50Speaker 5: a freshman, and like the senior guys are talking about
- 1:43:52Speaker 5: girls in Migrate and I'm like, what.
- 1:43:57Speaker 2: You guys. Okay, let's get back to the phones. Eldred
- 1:44:06Speaker 2: is in North Carolina. What's up? Eldred?
- 1:44:09Speaker 18: Hey, Alex Bred Mike. I would pull the horn, but
- 1:44:12Speaker 18: I'm getting loaded, so I can't start right. I wish
- 1:44:19Speaker 18: it was Hennessy and Coat right now, I'm getting loaded
- 1:44:22Speaker 18: with with them with some bedding. I'm getting loaded with incredible. Yeah.
- 1:44:28Speaker 19: But uh, I got a question for I know everybody's
- 1:44:31Speaker 19: dog Day's football question is, well, let me see the
- 1:44:34Speaker 19: worst thing call is that two thousand and seven when
- 1:44:38Speaker 19: Eli should have been in the grass and I think
- 1:44:41Speaker 19: they wanted us to lose anyway to get them Dolphins
- 1:44:43Speaker 19: and Electric stay on defeated team.
- 1:44:46Speaker 18: That's what I think. I think it was the product
- 1:44:48Speaker 18: from the Ganda whatever we wanna call it. But question
- 1:44:51Speaker 18: for you, I don't like Red Bdard that much because
- 1:44:56Speaker 18: he's saying he wouldn't pay Christian Gonzales. He's just give
- 1:45:00Speaker 18: him a little bit, little bit of a bump, and
- 1:45:02Speaker 18: two years down the line, you know you're going to
- 1:45:04Speaker 18: you know, because May's coming up next year. Two years
- 1:45:07Speaker 18: down the line, you can trade them off. You might
- 1:45:09Speaker 18: get two twos or two to onees or whatever. But
- 1:45:13Speaker 18: but like I think Evan brought up with Evan, he said,
- 1:45:17Speaker 18: you could pay them both, but they both would come
- 1:45:19Speaker 18: due to the twenty eighth and by that time, the
- 1:45:21Speaker 18: older guys, the older free agents and stuff we've got,
- 1:45:23Speaker 18: the big magic contracts would be coming off. So what
- 1:45:28Speaker 18: would y'all think? And do you agree with Evan or
- 1:45:31Speaker 18: do you think Grey Bernard got a point? And now
- 1:45:33Speaker 18: I take it off the.
- 1:45:34Speaker 2: Air, Yeah, thank you, Okay, I mean, I didn't hear
- 1:45:38Speaker 2: what Greg said.
- 1:45:39Speaker 5: I think his report was just that that he was
- 1:45:41Speaker 5: hearing that people in organization wanted Gonzalez to be a
- 1:45:44Speaker 5: little bit more physical, I mean, and Gonzalez.
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: Clap back on social media.
- 1:45:50Speaker 5: My perspective is, you don't know what kind of talent's
- 1:45:52Speaker 5: coming down the road. You have a talented guy in house,
- 1:45:55Speaker 5: he's a cornerback, he's an elite athlete. I don't need
- 1:45:59Speaker 5: him to be all that physical. In a perfect world.
- 1:46:01Speaker 5: If he was the perfect player, might he be a
- 1:46:03Speaker 5: little bit more physical maybe, but he can run with anybody.
- 1:46:07Speaker 5: And I think that to me is like, you know,
- 1:46:09Speaker 5: it's was the old like run cell thing, like you
- 1:46:12Speaker 5: fight the you fight the war with the army you have,
- 1:46:13Speaker 5: you don't fight it with the army you want, and like, yeah,
- 1:46:15Speaker 5: you would love to have him be the perfect player,
- 1:46:18Speaker 5: but that's not how it works. And I mean, he's
- 1:46:20Speaker 5: clearly an elite athlete and elite cornerback smooth, Like.
- 1:46:24Speaker 4: How much would a lot of physicality take away from that?
- 1:46:26Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:46:27Speaker 5: So you know parm was somebody like Carlon Davis who
- 1:46:29Speaker 5: was a little more physical and let him roam your backfield,
- 1:46:32Speaker 5: So I I, well.
- 1:46:33Speaker 2: That's the That's the other thing is I know that
- 1:46:36Speaker 2: there was something that Rabel was looking for from Gonzalez
- 1:46:39Speaker 2: early last year that he was lacking that eventually Gonzales
- 1:46:43Speaker 2: did and Rabel you know, didn't specify exactly what that was,
- 1:46:47Speaker 2: but you could tell he was a lot more pleased
- 1:46:50Speaker 2: with Gonzalez as the year went by. I don't know
- 1:46:53Speaker 2: if that's physicality. So I don't know if Bagard's report
- 1:46:57Speaker 2: is accurate, but it just seem like they he ended
- 1:47:01Speaker 2: the season on Rabel's good list.
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: Yeah for sure, sure, definitely in the And I.
- 1:47:06Speaker 2: Agree, like it's an elite position, tough to get an
- 1:47:11Speaker 2: elite player. You drafted this guy, he came up through
- 1:47:15Speaker 2: your system. It's a good sign to sign a guy
- 1:47:19Speaker 2: like that. And the price isn't going to get any less.
- 1:47:22Speaker 2: Know if you wait now, I guess you know.
- 1:47:25Speaker 4: Down the road you might have to pay someone more
- 1:47:27Speaker 4: for it.
- 1:47:27Speaker 2: If you think you can get two first round picks
- 1:47:29Speaker 2: two years from now, maybe that's a strategy, but you
- 1:47:32Speaker 2: could also blow out his knee. And this is season
- 1:47:36Speaker 2: and now you're back to square one with him, so
- 1:47:38Speaker 2: there's risk doing that too. You've got the bird in
- 1:47:41Speaker 2: the hand, right, You've got the bird in the hands,
- 1:47:43Speaker 2: So why not just seal up that that position for
- 1:47:47Speaker 2: the next five six years?
- 1:47:48Speaker 5: And who else are you worried about past drake that
- 1:47:50Speaker 5: you're not going to be able to retain? Like, there
- 1:47:52Speaker 5: ain't really anybody right now. I mean maybe Craig Woodson
- 1:47:55Speaker 5: gets to that point, but like you know, they paid
- 1:47:57Speaker 5: Mount Williams, I mean they paid Christian Barmore. Know, they
- 1:48:00Speaker 5: don't have like a line of guys.
- 1:48:02Speaker 2: It's almost like the.
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: Patriots Hall of Fame where you're just like, we gotta
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: row guys. They're all gonna get in.
- 1:48:07Speaker 2: Well, eventually you're gonna have to pay if let's say
- 1:48:09Speaker 2: Campbell does sure, you're gonna have to pay.
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: Your left having, you know, and then that's a decision
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: to make.
- 1:48:14Speaker 5: But to have to pay him that he's gonna play great,
- 1:48:17Speaker 5: especially if he plays great as a left tackle, and
- 1:48:19Speaker 5: that price tag gets really big, you know.
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: So that's a good problem to have.
- 1:48:23Speaker 5: So I look, paying Drake is certainly something they're gonna
- 1:48:26Speaker 5: have to figure out.
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: But it's not hard for me to see.
- 1:48:28Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: You get into twenty twenty.
- 1:48:30Speaker 5: Eight that Drake and Gonzalez are the big money guys,
- 1:48:33Speaker 5: and you know, at that point, Williams's contract is evened
- 1:48:36Speaker 5: out and maybe they got to give him a little sweetener.
- 1:48:37Speaker 5: But you know, to me, it just goes back to
- 1:48:40Speaker 5: Pagan Zalez and you gotta keep drafting, well, you gotta
- 1:48:43Speaker 5: keep drafting, well, you've got to find the players.
- 1:48:45Speaker 4: He represents everything they're trying to do, you know, And
- 1:48:49Speaker 4: it's kind of not a miracle, but it's a blessing
- 1:48:52Speaker 4: that he was there for them to take so it's
- 1:48:54Speaker 4: like not trying to retain him. It's like spitting in
- 1:48:56Speaker 4: the face of the football gods.
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: To me, I think I think it gets done.
- 1:48:59Speaker 5: I just I mean, based on what I've seen specifically
- 1:49:02Speaker 5: from Elliot Wolf and the way he's managed things the
- 1:49:04Speaker 5: last couple of years, they seem to understand and value talent.
- 1:49:07Speaker 5: And you know, maybe I'm foolish, like because I you know,
- 1:49:10Speaker 5: I didn't feel this way with Bill. Like with Bill,
- 1:49:13Speaker 5: I was worried every time somebody was gonna come up.
- 1:49:16Speaker 5: I mean when we talk about all the time that
- 1:49:17Speaker 5: Collins and High Tower thing of like who are they
- 1:49:19Speaker 5: going to keep? You know, like those like you know
- 1:49:21Speaker 5: when you were so worried because you felt like he
- 1:49:24Speaker 5: was going to draw a line in the sand and
- 1:49:25Speaker 5: say anything more than that, you go go find what's
- 1:49:28Speaker 5: good and listen.
- 1:49:29Speaker 2: You know, whether it was Tom Brady getting his first
- 1:49:32Speaker 2: big contract, people were worried about that. There's risk and everything,
- 1:49:37Speaker 2: but it's not debilitating, Like okay, so what if Gonzales
- 1:49:41Speaker 2: doesn't work out and he gets his money and you know,
- 1:49:44Speaker 2: becomes content or has you know, God forbid a bad injury.
- 1:49:49Speaker 2: You can recover from that. Every team can if they
- 1:49:52Speaker 2: want to. It's not like your your franchise is ruined
- 1:49:55Speaker 2: if you have that, if you pay somebody a lot
- 1:49:58Speaker 2: and it doesn't work out, you can you can come
- 1:50:00Speaker 2: back from that.
- 1:50:01Speaker 5: And he's an elite athlete, Like there's no doubt that
- 1:50:03Speaker 5: nobody is disagreeing that he is as good as he is.
- 1:50:07Speaker 5: Does he have you know, would you like the personality
- 1:50:10Speaker 5: of his play to be maybe slightly more you know,
- 1:50:13Speaker 5: got that dog in him kind of thing. And I'm
- 1:50:14Speaker 5: looking at you know, the picture of ty Law, who
- 1:50:16Speaker 5: you know would come up and and but I don't
- 1:50:18Speaker 5: think it's like he's so unphysical that it's a detriment
- 1:50:22Speaker 5: to when he plays or anything like that.
- 1:50:24Speaker 2: I know Paul scot but I saw him come up
- 1:50:26Speaker 2: and run support and make some pretty good open field
- 1:50:29Speaker 2: tackles last year, cutting the legs, going to Yeah, he's
- 1:50:35Speaker 2: not Dick buckets, but like you can take a guy
- 1:50:38Speaker 2: down in the open field, run around.
- 1:50:40Speaker 4: Just look what he didn't catch the ball. That's all
- 1:50:43Speaker 4: I needed to see super Bowl.
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: It's so hard to be close special athlete.
- 1:50:47Speaker 4: How do you find, like what other position other than
- 1:50:49Speaker 4: quarterback can like really impact your game like that and
- 1:50:53Speaker 4: totally take out a top receiver you know.
- 1:50:56Speaker 2: Right well, you know you can like if you have
- 1:50:59Speaker 2: if you have elite pass rusher, that person can can
- 1:51:04Speaker 2: ruin a game for another team.
- 1:51:05Speaker 5: Yeah, but those are I mean, those are the two
- 1:51:06Speaker 5: pieces on defense that you talk about. A shut down corner,
- 1:51:09Speaker 5: an elite pass rusher, and those two pieces. If you
- 1:51:12Speaker 5: have both of them at the same time, which I
- 1:51:13Speaker 5: think you know a team like the Rams right now
- 1:51:15Speaker 5: feel like they probably do, it can change how you
- 1:51:18Speaker 5: do things and make life really hard hard on offenses
- 1:51:21Speaker 5: when not only do you have to you know, pay
- 1:51:23Speaker 5: attention to the edge rusher, You've got to figure out
- 1:51:26Speaker 5: a way to get.
- 1:51:26Speaker 2: Your top You know, when you have those guys, whether
- 1:51:28Speaker 2: it's the elite pass rush of the corner, they make
- 1:51:31Speaker 2: everybody else better. They make the pass rush, the cornerback
- 1:51:35Speaker 2: makes the pass rush better, the elite pass rusher makes
- 1:51:38Speaker 2: the coverage better. You know, they're complimentary. So when you
- 1:51:42Speaker 2: have those guys that make the rest of your team better,
- 1:51:45Speaker 2: you know, right all, you know, rising tide raises all
- 1:51:48Speaker 2: boats kind of guy, you got to keep them.
- 1:51:51Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I've got to keep them. I think
- 1:51:53Speaker 5: Bill had a little evolution with Brievs here. I mean,
- 1:51:55Speaker 5: I don't think he was always a fan of like
- 1:51:57Speaker 5: our top guy on their top guy.
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: You like, like our top guy on their number two.
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: We're going to double their number one.
- 1:52:01Speaker 5: But Revis's ability when he was here to just shut
- 1:52:04Speaker 5: down a side of the field, and it's like, Okay,
- 1:52:07Speaker 5: we don't have to worry about that guy today. Right
- 1:52:09Speaker 5: now we can focus the rest of our ten guys.
- 1:52:11Speaker 5: When you already have a numbers advantage on defense and now.
- 1:52:14Speaker 2: It's a trickle down, it makes everything easier for everybody. Yep, yep.
- 1:52:18Speaker 2: All right, Well we're going to wrap it up for
- 1:52:20Speaker 2: this Thursday show. We'll be back next week on Tuesday.
- 1:52:25Speaker 2: First training camp is a week from this Saturday, first
- 1:52:28Speaker 2: open training camp for the public. So we're getting there.
- 1:52:31Speaker 2: So next week the focus will be on football. Paul
- 1:52:35Speaker 2: will be back, I think right, Evan will be bad. Yeah,
- 1:52:39Speaker 2: So we'll have the full crew and a lot of
- 1:52:41Speaker 2: football to talk about next week. All right, we'll see
- 1:52:44Speaker 2: you next Tuesday.
- 1:52:47Speaker 5: Hey, this is Duce. Thanks for tuning into the show.
