- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31So we're talking today about an analogy that I find to be very
- 0:35helpful. So let's say that you are
- 0:37holding a cup of coffee. Somebody comes along and bumps
- 0:41you, bangs into you, hits your arm, and you spill the coffee
- 0:45everywhere. Why did you spill the coffee?
- 0:49Obviously, you're going to probably think to yourself,
- 0:51well, because someone bumped into me.
- 0:54Yes, that's true on one level, but it's not the level we're
- 0:58going for, the deeper level. Why did you spill the coffee?
- 1:01You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in the cup you
- 1:04were holding. There was coffee in your cup.
- 1:08If there had been something else in the cup, like orange juice or
- 1:11water or tea or whatever, that's what would have spilled out.
- 1:15So this metaphor for life says, and that's really what we're
- 1:19going for with this metaphor for life says, whatever happens to
- 1:22be inside that cup will spill out when something comes along
- 1:26and shakes you. And if it really hits you hard,
- 1:32it might spill everything that you have in your cup, and it
- 1:35might make you feel terrible because therefore you feel like
- 1:38you lost it all. But the point of it is whatever
- 1:42is inside of you will come out when you get rattled.
- 1:45So we have to ask ourselves what's inside that cup so that
- 1:49when I get rattled, am I going back to the principles of the
- 1:53things that I know are important to me to be on point with?
- 1:57And if it's not what you like, if you don't like the answer,
- 2:01then you have to come back and say to yourself, OK, I need to
- 2:06change what's in my cup. Because you're always going to
- 2:08get hit, you're always going to get banged.
- 2:10You're always going to have those little things where
- 2:11someone bumps into you, but our important thing is to keep
- 2:14filling the cup with the stuff that matters, the good stuff,
- 2:18the joy, the the positivity, the resilience.
- 2:22And I'm not talking about somebody said to me the other
- 2:24day with how do you feel about toxic positivity?
- 2:27And I think that's just bull. It's just being, it's using the
- 2:31words in the wrong way. What that's manipulation.
- 2:34That's manipulation. Know the difference.
- 2:36I'm talking genuine positivity. We don't need to have more
- 2:39metaphors and other things out there for labels of bad things
- 2:43that are happening. What we need to do is pay
- 2:46attention to core, core ideas, core principles, core emotions,
- 2:51core feelings. But talking to yourself and
- 2:54figuring out am I spilling something in that, you know,
- 2:58situation When I get shaken, we all are going to spill a little
- 3:02something. Let me be very clear, Even
- 3:04myself, when I get rattled by something, Yeah, you want to see
- 3:08me get rattled, My friends watch it when something kills a
- 3:10chicken and watch me get myself upset.
- 3:14What comes out of me then is just that sheer sadness for
- 3:18something that happened in such a way that was so sad to me.
- 3:22So I I am definitely a person that will cry at the death of an
- 3:29animal on this farm. There is no way I won't cry.
- 3:33It happens every single time. That's what's in my cup.
- 3:36That's what's in my passion for these animals and I, I know
- 3:40heart of hearts. I know heart of hearts.
- 3:43I'm OK with that. So in those situations, it's,
- 3:47it's more than what I could ever.
- 3:50I couldn't change it because it's just how my heart is.
- 3:53I'm very empathetic, especially the things that don't have a
- 3:56voice, the way we have a voice, they have a different voice.
- 3:58You have to learn their language and I have no problem with that.
- 4:02But there are other times when I get something hits me, I get
- 4:07into a disagreement with my husband and something comes out
- 4:10of me and I'm like, I don't like that.
- 4:11I don't like that at all. So how do I show up?
- 4:15I don't want to be that way. I have to regroup.
- 4:17I have to come back around and say if that just came out,
- 4:19that's not who I am. I choose not to have that
- 4:22happen. I choose to look at something in
- 4:24a different way. And that's what I'm talking
- 4:27about. You have to decide what you want
- 4:30to have in that way. You have to decide how you want
- 4:33to fix that. And then then when something
- 4:36bangs into you, something rattles you, something shakes
- 4:38you, you're not going to have such a hard time because it's
- 4:42important to remember what's in that cup and make sure you keep
- 4:46on it because if you don't, it will always sneak up on you.
- 4:50All right, my friends, I hope you have a very blessed day and
- 4:54I will see you all tomorrow. Bye.
