- 0:00Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 0:04yeah yeah Yo. What's up? Just however a Hero on my new
- 0:26album, Bound for Glory. It's so awesome. Let's rock and roll man,
- 0:32yeaudiful brother, thanks for joining us today. Thank you brother, thanks
- 0:36for having me. Why are you so harrd to Hero? I'm releasing you
- 0:39album Bound for Glory on September fifteen, So how do you feel about it?
- 0:44Oh? I'm excited, man. I can't wait to put it out
- 0:47then to the world. Everybody take it in, you know what I'm saying,
- 0:51put their thoughts and I love it. Man. It's a great feeling
- 0:54to make some music and then have it put out to the world. This.
- 0:58Yeah, tell us me more about the album for musical point of view
- 1:00and what are you going forward it? Oh? Man, Basically, it's
- 1:03just a look into you know, my career, my life out of the
- 1:07road. You know. That's why I say Bound for Glory, because you
- 1:11know, you take your steps and you know and you're feel in your heart
- 1:14like I'm bound to get to the successful spot that I feel in my head,
- 1:19and I'm gonna take those steps and work hard and get there. So
- 1:22I just wanted the listener to come in and let them know. I'm on
- 1:25the same path as you. Let's just go off these ropes together to get
- 1:27to where we want to be. Yeah, I loves you say about a
- 1:32lot. The press really says that the twelve twelve songs encompass your journey to
- 1:36achieving success in music. So what is some of I guess what are some
- 1:40of the obstacles being in the path on the way to success? Oh?
- 1:44Man, you know, it's the ups and downs of the industry set and
- 1:47the changes and music, the changes of what's school, the changes in technology,
- 1:53and it's trying to fix yourself into it. You know, things like
- 1:56the pandemics thowing you downs. She took away tools, you know, when
- 2:00you think you're getting somewhere, and as it's a roller coaster ride of emotions,
- 2:06man, and I really wanted to kind of put that into the album,
- 2:10you know, especially with Boundful Glories the single is the type and head
- 2:15Underwater stuff like that. Those songs just take you into the mind frame and
- 2:20the feeling because I captured really of how I feel and a lot of those
- 2:23songs. Yeah. Cool, And You've got a great list of guest artists,
- 2:27including David Draymond, There's Brandon Seller, Spencer shot Us, Dan Sugarman,
- 2:30Chad Gray, j Chader and more like what did they all actually bring
- 2:35to the album? Oh? Man, they amazing talents man, and you
- 2:39know the energy they have because they were so excited to be a part of
- 2:44it, or nothing better than somebody excited to be a part of something.
- 2:46So yeah, so they've brung that energy to it. You get what I'm
- 2:51saying. There's more than just hey be on my song or some business stuff.
- 2:55Is they actually, hey man, I want to be a part of
- 2:58this and let's do this. So that's that's an amazing, incredible feeling.
- 3:01So that energy is within those tracks when you hear it, you know they
- 3:05gave it their heart. That was it difficult to get them old, old
- 3:08and involved the Lucky said where they all just in Oh it was uh yeah.
- 3:15Now everything happened so naturally, you know when you had it when you
- 3:19you coming from heat and coming from good music. And I built up so
- 3:22much respect over the years, you know when the thoughts for those features and
- 3:28things happened, everything just came together. The so cohesive and so natural.
- 3:31And also during the pandemic, people who are home, so it was.
- 3:37But man, so how was that luck? Did you wrote the songs and
- 3:42sent it to them and they put their bits so everywal or did you wrote
- 3:44the songs together? Or oh no, we made I made those songs from
- 3:49the producer Matt Good a few years ago to a lot of the songs,
- 3:53and just over time those songs got sent out and you know, just talking
- 3:55people and so it just built upon, you know, like we believe.
- 4:00I made that so a long time ago, and I sent it to David
- 4:05Draymond and he's like a voice no singing on and I was like, oh
- 4:09my god, this is awesome. And then I thought he would, you
- 4:14know, take me off singing, and he sings, but he sang with
- 4:17me. So I'm like, oh, I'm singing with David Draymond. I
- 4:19can't sing. And you both say coming to bust. The rhyming song WHA
- 4:27got you all in check? Like what's your particular song? Oh? Man?
- 4:31That was just me and Matt sitting back like thinking what the world we
- 4:35could do, and he just started Oh. I was like, oh my
- 4:38god, that's so cool man. They have metal version of that would be
- 4:42so insane, and yeah, that's what we did. Man, we was
- 4:45like and it was just so cool to sit down and record it because he
- 4:48realized how much talent somebody bust, like busting rhymes, hands like wrapping those
- 4:54verses into the microphone. It's not as simple as you just singing along to
- 4:58the song. He really put some you know, like a movements and the
- 5:02way he did it, Oh, it was. That was a tough song
- 5:05to record. And how hard was it? Like, how hard was it
- 5:10taking a rap song and making a metal life was it? Did you have
- 5:14to pull the whole thing apart and start again or did you just added the
- 5:16touch with you? And then dude, So he had his idea because he
- 5:20produced the music, and then me, I just tried to match the same
- 5:26energy he had and also mixing my style, you know, especially my voice
- 5:30a little high and things like that. And then buzz the rhymes were so
- 5:34metal with it. Anyways, it you know, I just I just up
- 5:39the energy up some for you know. Yeah, that's gonna make it so
- 5:43cool. Yeah, I know. Your flirtation with metal has been there since
- 5:47your twenty eleven debut album Bird School, Working Death, and he had some
- 5:51songs produced by Ross Robinson. You featured. Oh you know, don't you
- 5:55know. I was just for him at the driving on guitar, like has
- 5:58that always yeah music, having that that high rock, that metal element truck
- 6:02Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. I always wanted to mix it. You
- 6:05know. I started with sampling, like the heavy breakdowns of songs I heard
- 6:11on the radio, my first mixtapes when I was young, you know,
- 6:14in high school and everything. And then it just literally, you know,
- 6:18transformed into making heavy, hairy music and really taking the aspects of what's cool.
- 6:25You know. Chino from the Deaf Tones got me involvement Blood Brothers and
- 6:30those guys and stuff like that to create such a cool album. And that
- 6:32album is what really got me a lot of respect amongst artists and things like
- 6:36that. So yeah, it just was a natural progression, you know.
- 6:40I was just a dude in Houston and others and the Tupac and from DJ
- 6:45Screw and Pempse and all this stuff, and I decided to taste the station
- 6:48and I found out in the world, you know, And how about is
- 6:53it to blend those souls yet a like wraps in one world and medals in
- 6:57another world? Like you brought them together, like it could copy an easy
- 7:00thing to do. Oh, I don't know everything like everything happened natural with
- 7:05me. But just the hard part is making it sound cool, because sometimes,
- 7:10you know, you could do some rapping rock together and it sounds it
- 7:13sounds corny and and so like I think maxing the electronic elements sometimes and this
- 7:19day and age of the bead and the base and transforming that into a big
- 7:24heavy chorus. I think creating that you know, that blend is the hard
- 7:30part for me that makes it sound so awesome. But so when you do
- 7:32that perfectly, that's the cool part. Right. Did you ever try to
- 7:36do it and just have to give up for this guy's fucket? That's that's
- 7:40not gonna work. Nah, Nah, it's just the song. If the
- 7:46song sucks, it sucks. It doesn't matter if it's robbing sucks and sucks.
- 7:54I would say, anyone that you haven't collaborated yet, did you want
- 7:57to collaborate with? Oh man, somehow I don't just so many cool collaborations.
- 8:03I just like how everything just flows on its own. And I'd say,
- 8:09oh, one of these cool new young dnzy artists, I think,
- 8:13was how cool on one of these you know, like I saw a Little
- 8:15Ouzy put out some rock stuff, you know, and you know he try
- 8:18to do the rock thing, like I let me show you how to tell
- 8:22me on my track, and I show him and he'll be like, oh
- 8:26my god, this is how we should do this, you know. So
- 8:28I said a Little Ouzy somebody like that would be ever play Boy party,
- 8:33bringing them into the metal world the right way, you know. Yeah,
- 8:37So I went six for hart here, like the album comes out on September
- 8:39fift eight foot you gonna played after that? Oh man, I'm going on
- 8:43tour with nothing more in America. That's gonna be so amazing. So being
- 8:48cool to push that in rock. I ain't toured in like three years,
- 8:52so this is my first tour back. I'm gonna go crazy man to your
- 8:56energy. Haven't got any playing Somebody hit your old straya underneath you chack man,
- 9:01I hope. So. I love Australia. Man. Last time I
- 9:03was out there, I was in a sound Way festival back in the days,
- 9:07and I when I'm talking with death Tones back then two that was so
- 9:11awesome and let live. So it was a long time and man, I
- 9:16gotta get back out there. I'm planning, uh, some scept for next
- 9:20year, so hopefully everything goes through. And I wanted to be back out
- 9:22in Australia rocking man it has Brother, When you make it over, we'll
- 9:26catch up and have a beer. Rob. But in the meantime, your
