- 0:02Welcome to Impact Ready, a show dedicated to helping you elevate
- 0:06your impact in the world. I'm Steph Safra, your host.
- 0:09Let's explore the power of showing up with intention and
- 0:12energy each day. This is for those who seek to
- 0:15make life truly meaningful. Get ready for impact.
- 0:21Hello team, hope you are having a great week.
- 0:23Welcome to the show today. This is going to be a quick one,
- 0:27but it's going to be very important, very powerful.
- 0:30Today in this episode, we're going to talk about one of the
- 0:32skills that you can build that will help you create more
- 0:37success, more peace, more joy and more distinction.
- 0:40As a leader, almost immediately you want to stand out and be in
- 0:45the top percentage of high performing people.
- 0:49Here's the skill Practice your quick reset.
- 0:54Get so skilled at the art of self regulation, meaning you
- 0:59choose the thoughts, feelings and energy that you want to
- 1:03bring to your day. You are in charge and in control
- 1:07of how you are feeling and acting and behaving.
- 1:11And if something throws you off course, which it absolutely will
- 1:15on any given day, get lightning fast at resetting to that higher
- 1:19frequency of energy that you want.
- 1:23If you have a bad morning, don't let it infect your other 15
- 1:27hours that day. Reset and do it as quickly as
- 1:31possible. If you had a tough evening, just
- 1:34get good quality sleep and don't bring that energy into your next
- 1:38day. You know, it's all too common
- 1:41that people today let life's curve balls throw them off their
- 1:46game for a whole day or multiple days on a Friday.
- 1:49They'll complain that they're having a bad week because of
- 1:51something that happened on Monday.
- 1:53I hear this all the time these days.
- 1:55People will let one challenging or bummer of a circumstance
- 2:01affect their whole damn month. Are you kidding me?
- 2:05This happened so often. I'm sure that you've seen this
- 2:08in friends or colleagues, even family members.
- 2:13One of the common things that people will say is that they
- 2:17can't get over things quickly. No Sir, you just haven't been in
- 2:22the practice of self regulation. Whether it's a tough e-mail or a
- 2:27spilled coffee going into work, or bad traffic or a conflict
- 2:32with your Co worker, maybe you dropped the ball on something
- 2:34important. Those things, they're not going
- 2:38to tank your life, So stop acting like they're going to
- 2:41tank your life. Getting in a fight with your
- 2:44kids or your spouse, waking up with your lower back flared up,
- 2:49Having to juggle 10 different meetings that day, maybe hearing
- 2:52some bad news or having to be the one who delivers bad news.
- 2:56That stuff's going to happen. Get used to it and get skilled
- 3:02at navigating it. Practice staying regulated.
- 3:06Practice being more buoyant, like a cork that gets pushed
- 3:09under the water and then it pops back up to the surface.
- 3:12Practice your resilience. Get better at being the captain
- 3:16of your own ship and not just getting tossed in the ways of
- 3:19life all the time. This is kind of a hard thing to
- 3:22say to people. Sometimes it can feel a little
- 3:25bit aggressive as a topic, but we're all intelligent humans
- 3:29here, and we can tell the difference and understand that,
- 3:32yeah, there are some moments in life that are hard to get over.
- 3:35There are. There's some really heavy things
- 3:37that can happen. We've all experienced these
- 3:40things where grief or disappointment or sadness takes
- 3:45some time to process and move through.
- 3:47None of us are strangers to that type of hardship.
- 3:50But that's not what we're talking about in this episode.
- 3:52For the purpose of this conversation, what we're talking
- 3:55about is the everyday stuff that people let run their world and
- 4:00ruin their thoughts and dictate their feelings for that day or
- 4:05that week. That kind of response, it's
- 4:08tough to say it, but it isn't about not being able to process
- 4:13something. That kind of response is about
- 4:16emotional immaturity. It is and lack of skills around
- 4:21emotional regulation. So often I would see this in
- 4:25real time during a day at the clinic when I was seeing 20
- 4:27patients a day. You would have interaction after
- 4:30interaction with people that would show you the different
- 4:33types of emotional regulation that folks were capable of.
- 4:37One patient would come in annoyed, pissed off, bitter
- 4:40about the world because of something like traffic on the
- 4:43way to their appointment or an e-mail that they open right
- 4:47before they walked into the treatment room that had them all
- 4:49upset. And then I would have a patient
- 4:52come in right after that person that would be describing A
- 4:55horrendous divorce that they were navigating or the loss of a
- 4:58parent who they've been caretaking for the last five
- 5:02years. And those people were 10 times
- 5:05more self regulated and not displaying anger and bitterness
- 5:09and negativity. It's so vividly painted the
- 5:14picture of the spectrum of emotional maturity and the
- 5:18ability to self regulate during times of challenge.
- 5:22It was a daily reminder that this was a skill that could be
- 5:26practiced and built up like just like working a muscle.
- 5:33Let me pause here for a second. If you're listening and thinking
- 5:36I'm capable of more or this is the level I want to operate at,
- 5:41this is for you. I work privately with a small
- 5:44number of high performing leaders who are ready to elevate
- 5:47how they show up in their business and in their lives.
- 5:50This isn't motivational coaching, it's precision work.
- 5:53We refine your energy, strengthen your ownership, and
- 5:56eliminate inconsistency so your impact becomes undeniable.
- 6:01If you're ready for that level of growth, book a private call
- 6:04through the link in the show notes.
- 6:06We'll see if it's a fit. All right, back to the episode.
- 6:14So again, if you want to become somebody who stands out from the
- 6:18crowd, somebody who is seen as high functioning, reliable,
- 6:22consistent, highly impactful, maybe somebody who's higher
- 6:27performing, more able to lead, do this one thing, become great
- 6:34at the quick reset. Do it at lightning speed.
- 6:38Remember you had a bad morning. Try to reset by noon.
- 6:41If you had a bad afternoon, reset by the evening.
- 6:44You had a bad evening? Get good sleep and don't bring
- 6:48that energy with you into the next day.
- 6:50Not only will you be better for the people around you, but you
- 6:54will feel better in your own body.
- 6:56You will have a greater sense of internal peace and there's no
- 6:59better gift than that. So I hope this served you today.
- 7:03It is a reminder for myself as well as a reminder for you and
- 7:07all who are listening to become great at a quick reset.
- 7:12I hope this helps. Have a wonderful rest of your
- 7:14week and thank you for being ready to impact.
