Idaho Fish and Game just shut down sturgeon fishing on CJ Strike Reservoir after finding sixteen massive, dead sturgeon—some up to nine feet long—blamed on dangerously low oxygen and scorching water temps. This isn’t the first time; a similar event hit four years ago, and with the Snake River’s second-largest sturgeon population already down 15%, officials say they can’t afford any more losses.
