- 0:34SPEAKER_02: If you haven't listened to it yet, make sure you go and take a listen.
- 0:38SPEAKER_02: It was my interview with Aiden Tachuk.
- 0:40SPEAKER_02: And we really do appreciate all those support, and we're excited to keep this thing rolling throughout the season.
- 0:46SPEAKER_02: And speaking of rolling, how about the start of the can more Eagles?
- 0:52SPEAKER_02: Three games.
- 0:53SPEAKER_02: Three wins.
- 0:55SPEAKER_02: The Eagles are 3-0 to begin the season, and the defending Interpipeline Cup champions have picked up right where they left off.
- 1:04SPEAKER_02: Big week ahead, though.
- 1:06SPEAKER_02: We'll get into that a little bit later on.
- 1:09SPEAKER_02: We got lots to get into on episode two, including a conversation with 20-year-old Eagles forward Cohen Dows.
- 1:16SPEAKER_02: Very good interview there.
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: Make sure you tune in for that one.
- 1:20SPEAKER_02: And we'll talk about his journey throughout his junior hockey, how his game has developed during this time in Canmore.
- 1:26SPEAKER_02: What was it like winning a championship, playing alongside his younger brother Brody?
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: And we get to know Cohen a little bit away from the rank as well.
- 1:35SPEAKER_02: But before we get to Cohen, let's take a look back last week, especially on Friday night, as the Eagles hit the road for the first time this season in Drumheller to take on the Dragons in their home opener.
- 1:48SPEAKER_02: The two rivals duking it out literally.
- 1:51SPEAKER_02: And anytime Cam War and Drum Heller get together, you know there's going to be a little bit of fireworks.
- 1:58SPEAKER_02: And the Eagles absolutely wasted no time getting started in this game.
- 2:03SPEAKER_02: Let's tune in for some of the highlights.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: Here comes Cohen Dows on the backhand.
- 2:12SPEAKER_02: Dows stopped by Williams.
- 2:14SPEAKER_02: Rebound, he scores! Cohen Dows! 30 seconds in! He scores on a wraparound! His first of the season! What a play by Douster! And just like that, quieting this hometown crowd is Cohen Doused! And it's one to nothing, Camor! Find Int Singer, Int Singer with a step, drive a wide on you, Int Singer with a shot, he scores! Snipe City Bryson Intzinger! Z Eagles high glove on Williams! And it's two to nothing early with 18-12 left to go in the second.
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: Here comes Master Eddie tried to skate away from Pete.
- 2:52SPEAKER_02: Master Rennie on the backhand.
- 2:54SPEAKER_02: He score! Oh, and Master Rennie on the Brickley! And it's three to nothing for the Eagles! 17-31 left to go! Fight's gonna happen.
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: Here comes McClennan and Nixon Jansky.
- 3:08SPEAKER_02: First fight in the season for the Cambour Eagles! Jansky and McClellan! Jansky definitely has the high-reachment.
- 3:15SPEAKER_02: He gives him a couple of right hands.
- 3:17SPEAKER_02: McClennan ties him up.
- 3:19SPEAKER_02: Takes Chansky down as he gets a healthy roar for the crowd.
- 3:23SPEAKER_02: Both of their knights are done as a couple of extra shots on the pile between Jansky and McClennon.
- 3:29SPEAKER_02: Tries Bruno taken away by Moran.
- 3:31SPEAKER_02: Here comes Mason Moran with a shot! He scores! Mason Moran's first makes it four to nothing with 455 left to go! What a play by Mason Moran! Jonathan Gomez from Laguda Beach, California will play it over to Insinger.
- 3:47SPEAKER_02: He gets dumped by Kazeki, who will grab the puck back to Gomez, can't get it out.
- 3:51SPEAKER_02: Four to Keeler.
- 3:52SPEAKER_02: Walks right to Keeler with a shot.
- 3:53SPEAKER_02: He scores! Power play goal! Quentin Keeler! And it's 5-0 with 112 left to go.
- 4:02SPEAKER_02: Puck battle in the corner.
- 4:03SPEAKER_02: Tatruck will dig it out.
- 4:04SPEAKER_02: Has Scott as an option.
- 4:05SPEAKER_02: He'll cross-cross with Dust.
- 4:07SPEAKER_02: Turner curling drag.
- 4:08SPEAKER_02: He scores! What a goal! The mayor of Snipe City! Cohen Dows goes shelf! And it's now six to nothing with 533 left to go.
- 4:19SPEAKER_02: In front, Bruno with a shot, but that will do it.
- 4:22SPEAKER_02: And the Camor Eagles take care of business here in Drum Heller.
- 4:26SPEAKER_02: Final score, 6-2.
- 4:28SPEAKER_02: Hudson Sido was outstanding once again.
- 4:31SPEAKER_02: His third straight start this season, stopping 31 of 33 shots, picking up the win.
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: And it wouldn't be an Eagles-Dragons game without a little bit of bad blood.
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: The two teams combined for 104 penalty minutes, including a couple fights, as you heard, in a game that certainly showed there's still no love lost between these two rivals.
- 4:53SPEAKER_02: There's always something a little sweeter about beating Drum Heller, but to do it in their home opener in front of their packed house crowd to pick up your first road win of the season on a bad Friday night in the heart of the Badlands.
- 5:08SPEAKER_02: And one of the players right in the middle of that win last week was our guest for the interview, Cohen Doust.
- 5:14SPEAKER_02: If you watch the Eagles over the last few seasons, you've seen Cohen develop into one of the most dangerous offensive players on this team and in the league.
- 5:22SPEAKER_02: There's a lot more to Cohen than what you see on the score sheet.
- 5:27SPEAKER_02: We'll get into the interview here, is brought to you by Patty Shaq Burger Barr, of course, our fine sponsor of this podcast.
- 5:35SPEAKER_02: Thank you so much for being part of it, Patty Shaq.
- 5:38SPEAKER_02: And enjoy the interview.
- 5:42SPEAKER_02: Hey, welcome back to the interview portion of Eagles Weekly, sponsored by Patty Shaq Burger Bar here in Camor.
- 5:50SPEAKER_02: And I'm sitting down this week with the player of the game last week against Drum.
- 5:54SPEAKER_02: Two goals.
- 5:55SPEAKER_02: Cohen Dells.
- 5:56SPEAKER_02: Cohen, how's it going today?
- 5:57SPEAKER_02: It's going pretty good.
- 5:58SPEAKER_03: As good as a Tuesday in Catalan could go.
- 6:00SPEAKER_02: Well, talk about quickly that that game of drum.
- 6:03SPEAKER_02: You finally got off Schneid, your your first two goals of the season.
- 6:06SPEAKER_02: You you're pretty fired up, pretty animated.
- 6:09SPEAKER_02: How did it feel to get two goals, especially against that team, uh against your rivals?
- 6:13SPEAKER_03: Oh, it's it's always a fun game against Drum Haller.
- 6:15SPEAKER_03: But my whole junior career, just we've had a history, whether we beat, we lost to them in seven or swept them last year, just a rivalry and hate playing against them, but always a fun game and gets the juices going.
- 6:26SPEAKER_02: Well, speaking of your junior career, you're from St.
- 6:29SPEAKER_02: Albert, uh up north there, and you spent most your entire junior career here in Canw or take me back when you first joined the Eagles, and what was the biggest challenges you faced?
- 6:39SPEAKER_02: And uh, how different were you a player back then compared to a player today?
- 6:44SPEAKER_03: Um, well, when I first got here, just like came in as a 17-year-old and playing against men, and I just felt not as strong, like I wasn't strong enough, and I had to really work on my skating because what worked in U18 was not it not able to work at the junior level.
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: And in your first season, you recorded you know just three goals in 40 games.
- 7:05SPEAKER_02: Last season you led the team with 31 goals, 70 uh 75 points.
- 7:10SPEAKER_02: What changed in your game that uh allowed you to become one of the league's top offensive players?
- 7:15SPEAKER_03: Probably just the hockey gods and bounces, not kin.
- 7:18SPEAKER_03: But uh lots of hard work over the summer and lots of training with like our staff, whether it was with um Andrew Milne, which skills, or even Arnie, who's not here anymore, but he's still live.
- 7:31SPEAKER_03: But uh and Arrington Chapman and working with Jay, like and then building up my confidence and just getting stronger, better skater, and just improving my game.
- 7:40SPEAKER_02: Shout out to Arnie, who, as you mentioned, is still with us.
- 7:43SPEAKER_02: He's just with the academy, he's at the Prairie Academy as well.
- 7:47SPEAKER_02: Um, and then obviously with that kind of success, you weren't selected in the dub draft, but you're in an opportunity with the Calgary Hitman.
- 7:55SPEAKER_02: Uh, was going on draft as something that kind of motivate you uh going forward?
- 8:00SPEAKER_02: Did you ever feel like you had something to prove?
- 8:02SPEAKER_03: Well, honestly, well, it was my draft year was really weird.
- 8:05SPEAKER_03: It was COVID year, so it wasn't really too much hockey, and I was just can't let that affect you.
- 8:11SPEAKER_03: You just gotta focus on yourself and just keep working at it.
- 8:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 8:15SPEAKER_02: Take me back to that covert COVID year.
- 8:17SPEAKER_02: Like, what was that like a little bit world win?
- 8:20SPEAKER_02: Were you still in St.
- 8:21SPEAKER_02: Albert there or were you with the Eagles?
- 8:23SPEAKER_03: I was I was still in St.
- 8:24SPEAKER_03: Albert.
- 8:25SPEAKER_03: I actually first game of the year, like set broke my collarbone, and we played like four games all year, but I missed it because I had a broken collarbone.
- 8:32SPEAKER_02: Was it a hit or did you get it?
- 8:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but still a weird hit.
- 8:34SPEAKER_02: Weird hit.
- 8:35SPEAKER_02: Who is it against?
- 8:36SPEAKER_02: Uh I cannot I want to say Grand Prairie.
- 8:39SPEAKER_02: Grand Prairie, right?
- 8:40SPEAKER_02: Be Grand Prairie.
- 8:44SPEAKER_02: Just kidding.
- 8:45SPEAKER_02: So you spent three weeks with the uh with the Hitman last season before returning to Canmore.
- 8:49SPEAKER_02: Just talk about that experience.
- 8:51SPEAKER_02: Uh obviously, you probably want to stay up with the Hitman, but you came back to Canmore.
- 8:56SPEAKER_02: Just what did you learn and just in that short time with the Hitman?
- 8:59SPEAKER_02: And uh what went into your decision to come back to the Eagles?
- 9:02SPEAKER_03: Honestly, I I just I didn't want to stay up there.
- 9:05SPEAKER_03: I just loved what we had in Canmore so much.
- 9:08SPEAKER_03: And I knew we had a great group, and I wanted to like I just loved the relationships I have back here and all the friends and everything that we've built over the last two and a half, three years at that time.
- 9:18SPEAKER_03: And I thought we could finally bring a championship home and just stuff with the hitman wasn't working out too much, I wasn't enjoying my time, just wasn't the right fit for me.
- 9:28SPEAKER_03: So I just decided to come back to Canmore and I was our team was rewarded like great year, best year of my life.
- 9:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, obviously, let's talk a little bit about that championship season when the clocks hit zero in white court.
- 9:41SPEAKER_02: What was the feeling?
- 9:42SPEAKER_02: Did you was it kind of like a blackout moment that you didn't know what was going on?
- 9:46SPEAKER_02: Uh, but what was that feeling just you know, seeing celebrating with your team?
- 9:50SPEAKER_03: Just the feeling of like throwing your gloves and stick as high as you can, and then going and hugging your teammates.
- 9:56SPEAKER_03: Like that whole playoff, it was what two months, and our team just went to war in and out every single second.
- 10:02SPEAKER_03: And it was honestly just thinking back of every small moment, whether it was like the smelling salts pregame with Evan Markel just hyping the boys up, Will Ludic giving everyone pound dogs, just all the small stuff that went into it.
- 10:14SPEAKER_03: Everyone played um a part in that championship team, and it was just awesome to see that it came through and also looking forward to going to summer side with the boys.
- 10:23SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 10:24SPEAKER_02: And then let's let's let's talk about.
- 10:26SPEAKER_02: I asked this question question to Chuck last week, too.
- 10:29SPEAKER_02: What was it who was a teammate last year that just doesn't get enough recognition, you know, wasn't the leading the the team in points, or you know, was just a positive present around the ring.
- 10:40SPEAKER_02: What was a a teammate last year that just doesn't get him enough credit, but should be well deserved?
- 10:46SPEAKER_03: It has to be Haruki Morikawa.
- 10:49SPEAKER_03: He I mean he still played 26 a night.
- 10:51SPEAKER_03: He wasn't gonna be getting a score sheet, but you put it on the ice, you're not getting scored on.
- 10:55SPEAKER_03: He moved the puck up to the forwards, he kept the puck in, played awesome defense.
- 11:00SPEAKER_03: He was unreal on the penalty kill, and just in the locker room, if he had a bad chip, made a mistake, he he was already up, and you just wanted to die for him.
- 11:08SPEAKER_03: And he was one of the best teammates I've ever played with.
- 11:11SPEAKER_02: So this season, your younger brother brother, Brody, you know, just joined the uh the team.
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: He was around the championship season.
- 11:19SPEAKER_02: What is it like sharing the ice with him, you know, at a junior level now?
- 11:22SPEAKER_02: You're both on the same team.
- 11:24SPEAKER_02: And what's something about your relationship growing up that fans might find surprising?
- 11:28SPEAKER_02: Keep it PG, of course.
- 11:31SPEAKER_03: Um, yeah, it's awesome to play with Brody.
- 11:33SPEAKER_03: I mean, never played with him before.
- 11:34SPEAKER_03: Like I've had summer skates with him, but I've just never been like the age correspondent, whatever.
- 11:39SPEAKER_03: I don't think I use that word right.
- 11:40SPEAKER_02: But yeah, whenever you got it, yeah you got it.
- 11:43SPEAKER_03: But uh yeah, I've just never played with him, and it's awesome to share dice with them.
- 11:46SPEAKER_03: Something that's surprised.
- 11:48SPEAKER_03: Oh, my parents are probably awesome too.
- 11:49SPEAKER_03: It's get to see both of us play, but um, yeah, I need sick, and I was trying to think like the I'm the better-looking brother.
- 11:59SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 12:00SPEAKER_03: Something like that.
- 12:01SPEAKER_02: We're gonna have to allow Brody to come back on that one there.
- 12:05SPEAKER_02: But growing up, what were like I I grew up with a sister, and we had some battles out on the rink.
- 12:10SPEAKER_02: What was like growing up with a brother just a couple years younger than you?
- 12:15SPEAKER_02: Was there some battles that you could talk about?
- 12:17SPEAKER_02: Whether it was ODR or mini sticks or out in the backyard.
- 12:21SPEAKER_02: Uh, who usually came out on top of those battles too?
- 12:24SPEAKER_03: Well, obviously the older brother comes out, but then having him snitch, you know, doesn't end up working out for me.
- 12:30SPEAKER_03: But yeah, we played it was awesome growing up with him, whether it was the mini sticks, the ODR.
- 12:35SPEAKER_03: Like, I feel like we're super close compared to most brothers.
- 12:39SPEAKER_03: I do everything with him, and he's one of my best friends, and so yeah, I'm glad he's here.
- 12:44SPEAKER_02: So let's talk about your family here.
- 12:46SPEAKER_02: Who's had the biggest influence in your hockey career?
- 12:50SPEAKER_02: Whether you know, somebody in your family, a coach, um, or somebody within your close circle that most people wouldn't know about.
- 12:59SPEAKER_03: Well, it it it's my mom and dad, they've sacr I can't it's hard not to say them because with how much they've sacrificed for me.
- 13:05SPEAKER_03: And like my dad just putting a hockey stick in my hands when I was one or two.
- 13:09SPEAKER_03: He actually played in the AJ for the Fort Saskatchewan.
- 13:11SPEAKER_03: Oh, wow, okay.
- 13:12SPEAKER_03: He lost in the AJL championship back in to St.
- 13:16SPEAKER_03: Albert Saints.
- 13:17SPEAKER_03: But yeah, my parents, they I owe everything to them, whether it's driving me to practice, like back when I was, I want to say U13.
- 13:24SPEAKER_03: I played on a team in Emmerstown from St.
- 13:26SPEAKER_03: Albert.
- 13:26SPEAKER_03: We had two morning practices at a rink 35 minutes away from my house at like 6 30 in the morning, and they were always up with a smile on their face, playing music, just trying to get me energetic for hours skating.
- 13:40SPEAKER_03: So, yeah, but yeah, I owe everything to them.
- 13:42SPEAKER_03: So I'm gonna I gotta say them.
- 13:43SPEAKER_03: And yeah, you know what?
- 13:44SPEAKER_03: I'm also gonna shout out my uh my Baba.
- 13:46SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, my Baba.
- 13:47SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 13:48SPEAKER_02: Grandparents are I remember my grandparents just taking me to the games and stuff too.
- 13:52SPEAKER_02: That's it's awesome playing.
- 13:53SPEAKER_02: Um, do your parents make it to a lot of games?
- 13:55SPEAKER_03: Oh, they try and come to every game they can.
- 13:57SPEAKER_03: They are super fans.
- 13:58SPEAKER_03: They came to Summerside actually last year.
- 14:00SPEAKER_03: I think they came to like they I think they came to every single playoff game last year.
- 14:04SPEAKER_02: So talk about like winning that championship and being able to celebrate with your family, as you mentioned, just the early mornings, the long drives, just being able to celebrate that success with your family.
- 14:17SPEAKER_02: What did that mean to you?
- 14:18SPEAKER_03: Oh, it was just awesome.
- 14:19SPEAKER_03: Just giving them a hug.
- 14:20SPEAKER_03: They're so proud, and just they know everything that I put in and everything the teams put in and spent three, three years here.
- 14:27SPEAKER_03: And to finally get it done, it just meant everything, and to get a party after it was it was one of the best nights.
- 14:33SPEAKER_02: So you've seen this organization, obviously, you've been with the the organization three years, you guys.
- 14:37SPEAKER_02: If it come close, yeah, you're running into drum hell or you know, and a couple playoff um playoff meetings, but then you've seen this organization grow into a championship team.
- 14:47SPEAKER_02: What's something that changed in those three years?
- 14:50SPEAKER_02: Was it the players just buying in?
- 14:52SPEAKER_02: Obviously, with head coach Andrew Mill and all aka skills, the the culture that he's developed here is uh you know has lasted for year to year, year.
- 15:01SPEAKER_02: But what changed just in that championship season that'll finally get you guys over the hump?
- 15:05SPEAKER_03: Well, skills would say something like work ethic system skill, but yeah, that plays a huge part.
- 15:11SPEAKER_03: But um, I don't know.
- 15:13SPEAKER_03: I think it just everyone coming in, just but buying in, and just keep we got better and better and better, and even like the fan attendance for my first year or third year, like I think this is the best barn to play in in junior hockey, and it's so fun.
- 15:27SPEAKER_03: Every single game you're just up, and yeah, we just kept kept getting better and better and better.
- 15:32SPEAKER_03: And yeah, I don't know.
- 15:34SPEAKER_02: Those Aussies bring it.
- 15:36SPEAKER_02: Like they're bringing it.
- 15:37SPEAKER_02: Talk about the first time in that celebration.
- 15:40SPEAKER_02: If you've never seen a Camor Eagles home win celebration, they go to opposite ends of the rink and slam into the boards, especially in Aussie Corner.
- 15:49SPEAKER_02: We're kind of looking at it right now.
- 15:50SPEAKER_02: Just talk about that first time, just like going down there, slamming into the boards, being the first to get down there and slam into the beer, all the beer cans that are lined up.
- 15:59SPEAKER_02: Just it's a different, unique uh experience.
- 16:02SPEAKER_03: Just talk about what this fan base means to the get us going.
- 16:07SPEAKER_03: Like it's just like a Tuesday game, and you're maybe it's hard to get the juices going.
- 16:11SPEAKER_03: Aussie corners just has a beard tower, and you're like, hey, you got you.
- 16:15SPEAKER_03: I I gotta talk one.
- 16:16SPEAKER_03: I need to talk one.
- 16:16SPEAKER_03: But yeah, it's awesome.
- 16:17SPEAKER_03: And even during playoffs last year, we kind of became tradition that we were getting so many Eagles fans at away games that we would do the board hop, and we did it in like Drum Hell or Wake or Calgary.
- 16:27SPEAKER_03: We were doing that there, like yeah, the Eagles fans, best fans in the AJ, and they travel well too.
- 16:32SPEAKER_02: I can see why some rival teams might have a little bit of a bullseye, especially if you're celebrating on their home ice like that.
- 16:40SPEAKER_02: Um, so speaking about this community coming from St.
- 16:44SPEAKER_02: Albert, northern, by Hamilton, now you're in a mountain community of Canmore.
- 16:48SPEAKER_02: What's something about living here that has completely changed your perspective on the compute on the community?
- 16:55SPEAKER_02: How has it been living in Can essentially during your AJ career?
- 16:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's the it's awesome.
- 17:00SPEAKER_03: It's the most beautiful community pro it's in the world.
- 17:03SPEAKER_03: It's arguably out there, but it's awesome.
- 17:05SPEAKER_03: The people are very nice, everyone's so welcoming and like working with like minor hockey and working with the community has been awesome.
- 17:13SPEAKER_03: Just helping people out.
- 17:14SPEAKER_03: They come to support us.
- 17:15SPEAKER_03: Why not support them?
- 17:17SPEAKER_03: So, yeah, it's just been awesome working with the community.
- 17:19SPEAKER_02: So, having been around this organization for several seasons, you've had players come in and out, you're wearing a letter right now.
- 17:27SPEAKER_02: What's uh what's your kind of leadership style?
- 17:29SPEAKER_02: Obviously, you're you're a little bit of a mouthpiece out there on the bench in the room.
- 17:34SPEAKER_02: Um, what is your leadership style and who really did you learn to be an effective leader?
- 17:39SPEAKER_02: Uh to wear a letter for this team.
- 17:41SPEAKER_02: Who did I learn from?
- 17:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm gonna shout out uh Jaron Brinson, captain, my second year, he was and Emmanuel too, my first year.
- 17:49SPEAKER_03: They are just two awesome guys.
- 17:51SPEAKER_03: But I just feel like I'm like loose, like I like just talking, keeping, like I don't want too serious of a vibe.
- 17:57SPEAKER_03: Like just go out there, you gotta have fun with it.
- 18:00SPEAKER_03: I feel like when you're having fun, that's when you play the best, and I'll help critique the team like when stuff's not going right.
- 18:06SPEAKER_03: But I'll do whatever they do and just try and help the boys win.
- 18:10SPEAKER_03: Just you gotta sacrifice and do whatever it takes to win.
- 18:13SPEAKER_02: So obviously, you're in your 20-year-old year.
- 18:16SPEAKER_02: This will be your last year with the Eagle, right?
- 18:18SPEAKER_02: Hopefully, to go going out on top this year with the Centennial Cup win this time.
- 18:22SPEAKER_02: That's the goal.
- 18:23SPEAKER_02: What are you kind of trying to instill on all the rookies that you guys have?
- 18:27SPEAKER_02: You know, you do have a little bit more of a veteran team, but you have a couple rookies and Isaac Reap, uh, Mason Moran, a lot of rookies on that back end with Chansky, your brother, uh Sully Kaflick.
- 18:38SPEAKER_02: What kind of uh are some things that you're trying to instill, but maybe both on the ice and in the community that you know you you could leave knowing that this uh this team will, you know, effectively be the same for years to come.
- 18:52SPEAKER_03: Well, I just feel like since I've been here, I've just learned how to become a better human.
- 18:56SPEAKER_03: I feel like that's the number one thing.
- 18:57SPEAKER_03: Like I want everyone that comes here just to become a better person and help out with tons of people, whether we do a food drive every year, just like the small things and all those stuff, like just helping.
- 19:08SPEAKER_03: But also just like I want to win with these guys.
- 19:11SPEAKER_03: So like I want I'm still learning too.
- 19:13SPEAKER_03: Like I've only won once, but you got I gotta win again.
- 19:17SPEAKER_03: So I want to learn with these boys, learn about each other and win, and hopefully I want to instill legacy that just keeps on making like Canmore being one of the just in and out and winning, hopefully.
- 19:28SPEAKER_03: But that's the goal.
- 19:29SPEAKER_02: Well, in your last year, a couple more questions for here there, Dowser really appreciated.
- 19:34SPEAKER_02: If I asked your teammates to describe Cohen Dows away from the rink, what would they say?
- 19:40SPEAKER_02: And second part, what would they probably roast you for?
- 19:44SPEAKER_03: They'd roast me about my jokes, but then at the same time, they'd say I'm probably the funniest guy on the team.
- 19:49SPEAKER_03: So I I don't know, it contradicts itself.
- 19:51SPEAKER_03: But yeah, I'm just I feel like I'm a fun guy.
- 19:54SPEAKER_03: Like it's like to joke around and have fun with whoever I'm with.
- 19:57SPEAKER_03: And yeah, have a fun time watching the Oilers, LA Rams.
- 20:01SPEAKER_03: I'm a huge sports guy outside of hockey.
- 20:04SPEAKER_03: Um, got back into reading.
- 20:06SPEAKER_03: So I'll reading.
- 20:09SPEAKER_03: Um, signal and the noise.
- 20:10SPEAKER_03: It's a statistic book.
- 20:11SPEAKER_03: No, so a lot of people are more bored other than mine.
- 20:14SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's all right.
- 20:15SPEAKER_03: Uh yeah, you know, I'm just trying to get 1% better every day.
- 20:18SPEAKER_02: You should read the the money ball book.
- 20:20SPEAKER_02: I watched the movie.
- 20:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, the movie, the book is pretty good too.
- 20:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 20:23SPEAKER_02: You like that statistics stuff?
- 20:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 20:24SPEAKER_03: That's the book to feel that's kind of what this book's actually.
- 20:27SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: One last question, then we're going to do a little bit of a fun game here.
- 20:32SPEAKER_02: You've gone from young player trying to establish shell establish himself, excuse me, in junior hockey to a league leading scorer, AGAR champion.
- 20:42SPEAKER_02: When you eventually look back at your time in Canmore, what do you think will mean the most to you beyond the hockey accomplishments?
- 20:50SPEAKER_03: Definitely the friendships I've made.
- 20:52SPEAKER_03: I've made so many friendships, whether it's uh my boy 1-4, Josh Cleary.
- 20:57SPEAKER_03: But yeah, just the friendships I've made, the post-game meals, the lunches, like that's the stuff that's gonna mean the most to me at the end of this.
- 21:04SPEAKER_03: Okay, just the friendships made so many ones that I people met so many people that I never would have met in my life.
- 21:10SPEAKER_02: And obviously your camel fight.
- 21:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 21:13SPEAKER_02: Obviously, your personality helps with that too.
- 21:15SPEAKER_02: You're just a guy that everybody wants to gravitate to in the room, right?
- 21:19SPEAKER_02: Thanks, Chris.
- 21:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no worries, no worries.
- 21:21SPEAKER_02: Okay, so we're going to do a rapid fire question here just to get to know you a little bit.
- 21:25SPEAKER_02: So, first thing that just comes to your mind, say it.
- 21:27SPEAKER_02: All right, you're gonna have 30 second stance.
- 21:30SPEAKER_02: All right, yeah, okay.
- 21:31SPEAKER_02: So, this is getting to know the shot clock with the Camor Eagles.
- 21:35SPEAKER_02: What's your go-to pregame meal?
- 21:37SPEAKER_03: Chicken and rice.
- 21:38SPEAKER_02: Who's your favorite NHL player of all time?
- 21:40SPEAKER_03: Leandro I said or Evan Bouchard.
- 21:42SPEAKER_02: What's the one song you're embarrassed to admit is on your playlist?
- 21:45SPEAKER_03: I'm not embarrassed to admit any songs on my playlist.
- 21:47SPEAKER_03: I got a mix of genres, whether I got some Taylor Swift on there, I got Morgan Wallen, got Pitbull, I got everyone.
- 21:54SPEAKER_03: Flo Ryder.
- 21:55SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 21:56SPEAKER_02: Uh, if you were playing hockey, what sport would you be playing?
- 22:02SPEAKER_03: Um I mean I love golf, but I probably wouldn't be playing that I'm horrible at golf.
- 22:07SPEAKER_03: I would say maybe like baseball or something like that.
- 22:13SPEAKER_03: Mean it at all.
- 22:14SPEAKER_02: Mean me and you both.
- 22:16SPEAKER_02: Other than you, who's the funniest guy in the uh Eagles dressing room?
- 22:19SPEAKER_03: Miller Cormaneski.
- 22:21SPEAKER_02: What's your biggest pet peeve?
- 22:24SPEAKER_03: Too many to just give me one.
- 22:26SPEAKER_03: I can't think on my head, uh I actually can't even think.
- 22:30SPEAKER_02: That's alright, that's alright.
- 22:31SPEAKER_02: If you could eat at one restaurant in Canamore for the rest of the season, where would you go?
- 22:36SPEAKER_02: Hell yeah, that's a good one.
- 22:38SPEAKER_02: Who takes longer to get ready, you or your brother?
- 22:41SPEAKER_03: Oh, my brother, whatever.
- 22:43SPEAKER_02: What's one thing you're surprisingly good at outside of hockey?
- 22:48SPEAKER_03: Um, artificial intelligence.
- 22:50SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, no, I know I know how to use AI.
- 22:52SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 22:53SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 22:54SPEAKER_02: And if you could trade lives with any celebrity for 24 hours, who would it be?
- 22:59SPEAKER_03: Any celebrity.
- 23:00SPEAKER_03: Um, let's go Leandre satellite.
- 23:03SPEAKER_03: Come on.
- 23:04SPEAKER_02: Absolutely go talk three against the plane.
- 23:06SPEAKER_03: Playing on McDavid's wing.
- 23:08SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 23:08SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 23:09SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 23:09SPEAKER_02: Well, Deuster, thank you so much for joining us here.
- 23:12SPEAKER_02: Uh of course, that this interview is brought to you by Patty Shack Burger Bar.
- 23:16SPEAKER_02: Make sure you go see them for some good burgers and some crispy fries.
- 23:20SPEAKER_02: Douster, thanks, and uh good luck this weekend.
- 23:22SPEAKER_02: First road trip of the of the year.
- 23:24SPEAKER_03: It's gonna be fun, but uh before this ends, I just wanted to shout out JT.
- 23:28SPEAKER_03: You know who you are.
- 23:29SPEAKER_02: Alrighty.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: Warning.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: The following message may cause extreme hunger.
- 23:39SPEAKER_00: We're talking juicy burgers, crispy fries, and flavor that'll have you coming back for more at Patty Shack Burger Bar in Canmore, where they are serving up the kind of burgers that make you forget about everything else.
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: So when the burger craving hits, you know where to go.
- 23:55SPEAKER_00: Patty Shack Burger Bar in Canmore.
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: Come hungry, leave happy.
- 23:59SPEAKER_00: A proud supporter of your Canmore Eagles.
- 24:02SPEAKER_02: That was Eagles forward Cohen Dust.
- 24:04SPEAKER_02: And I think what comes across when you spend time talking to Cohen is just how much he's grown during his time in this organization.
- 24:12SPEAKER_02: We obviously know what you could do offensively.
- 24:15SPEAKER_02: He's creative, he can finish, but he's become a player this team can rely on in big situations.
- 24:23SPEAKER_02: And you can hear just how much his time in Canmore has meant to him.
- 24:26SPEAKER_02: You hear it in his voice.
- 24:28SPEAKER_02: He's experienced the ups and the downs of junior hockey.
- 24:31SPEAKER_02: He's developed his game here, got the chance to play alongside his brother, and ultimately helped bring the first AJHL championship to Canmore.
- 24:40SPEAKER_02: And now is one of the veterans of this team.
- 24:42SPEAKER_02: He's part of the group trying to build on what the Eagles accomplished last season.
- 24:46SPEAKER_02: A little bit of unfinished business going for that centennial cup this year, not just settling on the AJHL Championship.
- 24:56SPEAKER_02: And looking ahead as we head to the other segment, the final segment of our podcast.
- 25:02SPEAKER_02: There won't be much time for the Eagles to enjoy the 3-0 start.
- 25:05SPEAKER_02: It's a busy week ahead with Camor hitting the road for three games in three nights.
- 25:10SPEAKER_02: It starts Friday afternoon in Grand Prairie.
- 25:14SPEAKER_02: This will be a good test.
- 25:15SPEAKER_02: Grand Prairie currently first place in the North Division is currently ranked nationally with the Camor Eagles.
- 25:22SPEAKER_02: They're ranked ninth.
- 25:24SPEAKER_02: Camor is ranked fifth in the nation.
- 25:27SPEAKER_02: Then after Grand Prairie, they head to Whitecourt to play a rematch for the AJHL Championship last year's.
- 25:37SPEAKER_02: They take on the Wolverine in Whitecourt.
- 25:39SPEAKER_02: That puck drops at 7 o'clock.
- 25:41SPEAKER_02: That's going to be a good one Saturday night.
- 25:43SPEAKER_02: And then on Sunday, they travel to Devon to take on the Devon Extreme.
- 25:49SPEAKER_02: That one puck dropped 2 o'clock.
- 25:51SPEAKER_02: So two afternoon games for the Eagles on this road swing.
- 25:54SPEAKER_02: Of course, you can catch all that action on Flow Hockey.
- 25:57SPEAKER_02: I will be on the call.
- 25:58SPEAKER_02: So if you're getting sick of my voice already, well, we got a long season ahead, ladies and gentlemen.
- 26:04SPEAKER_02: So buckle up, and that will do it for our second episode of Eagles Weekly.
- 26:09SPEAKER_02: Thank you so much once again for the support.
- 26:11SPEAKER_02: Make sure you tune in next week for the third episode.
- 26:14SPEAKER_02: We will be back to highlight all that happened, especially on that road trip that's coming up starting on Friday.
- 26:23SPEAKER_02: Of course, thank you so much to our sponsors, the Patty Shack Burger Bar, for continuing to sponsor this podcast.
- 26:29SPEAKER_02: And until next week, I'm Chris Klein, and we will catch you down the road.
