- 0:28Hey, everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:30coop. So this is our last day on
- 0:33recovery week and I want to talk to you about hobbies.
- 0:38Any of my listeners that are here for any period of time know
- 0:41that I am a huge hobby fan. I think that hobbies are
- 0:45something that are not overrated.
- 0:47I think that we need them and I think that they they cause us to
- 0:53just be better people because. We have these activities that
- 0:57have no other intent except to make us feel good.
- 1:01That's the intent of a hobby. Just to make you feel good
- 1:04doesn't please anybody else, just makes us feel good and
- 1:08think about that, you know, this chicken coop started off as a
- 1:11hobby for me. Just being able to say, hey, you
- 1:15know what, I wanted them my whole life again.
- 1:18And I'm going to come out here and I'm going to enjoy them.
- 1:20And then in the process of me doing this, I recognized that.
- 1:24This has become such a mindful spot and such a learning
- 1:32laboratory for me to teach everybody about that.
- 1:36You know, I have to share this with everybody, but they started
- 1:40off as a hobby for me. They started off as earlier in
- 1:43my life. And this is something that while
- 1:46it's not for everybody, I understand that.
- 1:49They are such a a joyous activity in my heart, just like
- 1:55painting, just like growing flowers, just like vegetables.
- 1:59All of these things are I would consider and I would put them
- 2:02under that mindful category of this is.
- 2:07I don't do this for anybody else, I do this for me.
- 2:11Even if I didn't shoot this podcast out here every single
- 2:14day to share with all of you, I would still be out here.
- 2:18In the world of, you know, my chickens doing this because they
- 2:23bring me joy. They bring me just my heart is
- 2:26just full. And as I'm out here right now
- 2:29and I'm, you know, walking around them and they just heard
- 2:32a hawk scream. So they got real quiet and all
- 2:36the bunnies are running back in everybody's.
- 2:38Everybody got freaked out when they heard the hawk.
- 2:41So the point is. If you have something that you
- 2:45enjoy, if you have something that fills you up, that is a go
- 2:49to place to de stress you. That is a go to thing to give
- 2:53your life purpose and and make it matter.
- 2:56And when you have something that gives your life purpose, when
- 2:59you have something that you you know it makes it matter, all of
- 3:04a sudden you feel better. Because if you're just
- 3:07constantly on the train of I've got to work, I've got to grind,
- 3:11I've got to work, I've got to grind, I just got to take care
- 3:13of all these things. And then I can if you're always
- 3:16in the and then I can mode that, that is just physically
- 3:21draining. It's emotionally draining it.
- 3:24It breaks you down little by little.
- 3:26And I promise you it will make your heart miserable over time.
- 3:30Because it doesn't work. It just doesn't work.
- 3:33We're not here to just grind all the time.
- 3:36So as you go into this last thought before we.
- 3:41You know, move to the next set of holidays.
- 3:43Whatever we're celebrating, make sure you are taking care of
- 3:47yourself. Do a hobby.
- 3:49If you don't have a hobby, I sincerely suggest that you start
- 3:54to find one. Some people have asked me over
- 3:57the years what was reading a hobby.
- 3:58Sure, reading can be a hobby. Absolutely.
- 4:01I mean, I have clients that say, oh, well, I won't read anything
- 4:04except trashy books that are like, you know, bubble gum.
- 4:07That's OK. If that's your hobby, that's OK.
- 4:10It doesn't matter. It matters that it makes you
- 4:14feel that moment of like you're you're doing it just for
- 4:17yourself. So couldn't can you consider it
- 4:19selfish? Yes, if that's what you need to
- 4:21do. Yes, it's selfish.
- 4:23And it's putting you in a place where you just absolutely have
- 4:26you. You have this total control over
- 4:29your beliefs. You have this total control over
- 4:31what you're thinking. You have the total control over
- 4:33how much you enjoy it. It's yours.
- 4:35Totally. So find that, find that one
- 4:38thing that makes such a big difference to you.
- 4:41Find that one thing that makes you feel so incredibly good
- 4:44about doing it that you know, it's just like, oh, you can't
- 4:48wait to do it. And I don't care.
- 4:49I mean, it can be something grand or it can be something
- 4:53simple like I have play DoH, I play with regularly.
- 4:56You know, it is what I say. It's a complete hobby, no, but
- 4:59it's definitely under the art category of hobby.
- 5:02So there you go. You can chalk it up however you
- 5:05want. It's those little tiny things
- 5:07that matter. So if it's bringing you little
- 5:09moments of joy and it's making you feel like you're putting
- 5:12yourself first, then do it. All right.
- 5:14My friends, I hope you have a very blessed day and I will see
- 5:18you tomorrow. Bye.
