- 0:00Welcome back to a hamster with a blunt.
- 0:03Penknife questions and answers. The 80s part 2.
- 0:10What, what comes to mind when you think of the 80s?
- 0:13Are you talking to me? I'm talking to you, Colin
- 0:16Baker's costume and the Starfield.
- 0:20I was thinking sort of, in general.
- 0:21Not don't know. I was thinking like, Bonnie,
- 0:23Tyler Total Eclipse of the Heart, the sort of eighties top
- 0:29of the pops. Like what's that one
- 0:32doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo? Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo.
- 0:44The that yes this is the 80s part 2 back by popular demand
- 0:50because we had 500 questions and another 500 from frasor I doing
- 0:55today. Good.
- 0:56Yeah plenty of questions. Oh you know I'm sure you do.
- 1:00Don't you try and distract from the fact that it's your birthday
- 1:03today to congratulate, lovely? Yes.
- 1:17That's great food. Yes.
- 1:21Another celebration, right? It a lot of fuss, Jesus.
- 1:26I'm trying to work out what ones we asked last time.
- 1:29What we haven't Because all these threads on Twitter are
- 1:31very complicated. While say, Twitter went mad.
- 1:33After you dropped an F-bomb about Eric's awards every day.
- 1:36Let's start off, you read that? Yeah.
- 1:38Luke Malloy had a hard-on about you getting mad about Eric's
- 1:41award. Well, the first question in this
- 1:45section comes from Pete Lambert. Oh pale Amber.
- 1:49And I don't know, this might have been done after the last
- 1:52episode or not, I don't know, because he's pert will dr.
- 1:56You Twitter ever get over itself regarding the say, word years.
- 1:59And Stop treating it as an aberration, but it was one of
- 2:03the most popular errors of the series popular.
- 2:05What? Eras of the series that turned
- 2:07many of us into fans in the first place, or has the pendulum
- 2:10got stuck on this one. I don't think the reason why is
- 2:16unpopular in fandom is because it was it was cancelled once and
- 2:20then canceled for good. The second time the rating is
- 2:24took a dive and the show was considered a bit of a joke by
- 2:28the BBC that that would mean there wasn't some fantastic
- 2:31things coming out of the 80s doctor but you and I've already
- 2:34said in we it's very inconsistent.
- 2:36Yes. Compared to other errors Eros.
- 2:39Whereas fuck. Yeah.
- 2:41I mean, I'm not gonna go on about this, but I do think it
- 2:45was those scripts. What about Chris?
- 2:47Wragge bid me Dara and Andrew Coleman, alzira.
- 2:52Yeah, not so bad, not so bad and more consistent, they've got a
- 2:55ton about, isn't it season 18, a lot of the whole tone of that in
- 3:00the East, Bay's Trilogy and the lip the eye and going in from
- 3:03keep her truck. And the gospel is going through
- 3:04to Castro valve. Yeah.
- 3:06And then suddenly you hit for Tuesday, don't you at the sort
- 3:10of that Sansa nehru but towards the end of that season, tell
- 3:13them. That's when the script editor
- 3:14changes in their lie. Oh, we haven't really got any
- 3:16one, and then Eric's a wood comes in.
- 3:18What did you get something bold and bring it like Earth shall
- 3:20go? Which is a good script.
- 3:22I think it's a bit muddy, but it's exciting and then you get
- 3:25time fly. Then you go Arc of infinity.
- 3:28I bet you get snake dance. It's all over the bloody place.
- 3:31But so do you think then that fandom overreact a bit about the
- 3:3580s. Honor, think there's the stigma
- 3:37that there was now about the 80s.
- 3:39I think they look, no, not all quite not must know.
- 3:43I just feel like, can I have it - ask you to make a prediction
- 3:47please? After what you think Sarah to is
- 3:50going to think about the 80s as As you enter that era, I don't
- 3:53know. I've no idea, so difficult to
- 3:56tell it's difficult to tell, we all figured that she's gonna
- 3:59hate, you know, I'm getting factor and things like this and
- 4:02Chassis, bloody loves it. So it's very hard to tell with
- 4:05all Sarah. Yeah, very, very tricky.
- 4:08Next question from frasor. Okay.
- 4:11Come on, Fraser one. Yeah, so it's snug.
- 4:14Mary will cover in plasma tan juices, excuse me.
- 4:20I didn't write that you get From a plasmid home anyway, like
- 4:24massive white tubs. Well, it's not very covering
- 4:28plasmids. When juices should I do?
- 4:29What can I just say something? So very quickly before we go to
- 4:32this question when he first came on this thing, right?
- 4:35He was like fucking sister Wendy.
- 4:37I know she's the one that was a penis.
- 4:39He was like Mother Theresa saying oh stop it.
- 4:43Stop it. Stop bringing in six and now
- 4:45he's asking questions like this. How'd you get juice from a
- 4:48plasma totem and also, please go ahead and The three choices are
- 4:52Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy was that strong
- 4:56marry avoid. It's not marry covering plasmids
- 4:59hundred. He said, oh my God.
- 5:03Okay, so snoke pitocin is the prettiest of the three.
- 5:09I would marry Colin Baker because I think he's witty and
- 5:15erudite and I think he likes his food as well side of Y.
- 5:18So we have from, we cannot even gristick battles.
- 5:21With it. Ignore what talking with you is
- 5:24like having an argument with a thesaurus, derivative from the
- 5:27one doctor what he's arguing with.
- 5:29Christopher Biggins and are Jews all over Sylvester McCoy because
- 5:33he's always, I mean, you've taken that is, as Jesus just
- 5:36covering plasmids on Jesus. Well, just for the record
- 5:40Sylvester McCoy. I know you're on Twitter saying,
- 5:43how much Rihanna was your favorite.
- 5:46Oh my God. And then he's read it and thinks
- 5:58it's real so that he's done a video be like, or Rihanna.
- 6:09Just as you can take it, as written, all this case of mr.
- 6:14McCoy, the Seventh Doctor, I'd happily cheers.
- 6:17On you, with plasma tan juice, Okay.
- 6:24Next actually I'm just going to do another Fraser where I'm just
- 6:26on the same thing. This is snog, marry install.
- 6:29Best questions. So snug, Mario throw under the
- 6:32marker. What's that mean?
- 6:35Throw under the Merkur? Like what we hoped by the Mucca,
- 6:39know, you'll put your putting words into these things often
- 6:42grow up onto the market, it could just trample them.
- 6:44Okay, let's have sex with her. Imagine the merkava tanks of
- 6:48yeah. Okay, well is Tegan Perry or a
- 6:50case here, where would do Would you do Tegan Perry or Ace?
- 6:56Oh, no. I know.
- 6:57I've just said that by the Merkur rogering.
- 6:58One of them. Okay, well he's going to Roger
- 7:01but the Merkur can Roger Perry because she's just used to it?
- 7:04Now she's been obviously. Well, stuffing planet of fire
- 7:08about a stepfather. There's something sinister going
- 7:10on there, then she's got horrible, slugs, and mr.
- 7:13Joe Bell and shock, I lust and so the Merkur can trample Perry
- 7:19and she just scream her head off, whatever's Tegan.
- 7:22Snorkel. Mary.
- 7:23Yeah, fuck. Okay.
- 7:26I'll marry Tegan but taken now with a sense of humor and I'll
- 7:33snag a she's probably good for so long and she so rough Urban
- 7:37girl you know rough with and girl she's a lot tongue, ice
- 7:43last Mike Smith. Okay, next question is from
- 7:47Mikey and Janie. I'll Mikey Mikey from Mikey and
- 7:51Jane He is fabulous show. I've still got to the end of the
- 7:53colony in space, but honestly it was fabulous on that.
- 7:57I can muster get that sorted anyway.
- 7:59Mikey what do you have to say which to 80 stories would have
- 8:02been better with a the next and be the previous doctors that
- 8:09makes sense. So which to which story would
- 8:11have invested over the next 80? Stories are.
- 8:13So you've got a Peter Davison story which out what would it
- 8:17have been better with? I've got, I've got it, the next
- 8:19I've got it, you know, I was gonna get a serious answer.
- 8:22I think time and the Rani will be better with Colin Baker.
- 8:26Right. Because as far as I know, Matt
- 8:30Michael was saying that was originally to be Colin, Baker's,
- 8:33lastly, rotors, and Colin was like I'm not coming back to that
- 8:36that he was going to. He was going to be the one with
- 8:38the Bangles at the end, and explode, with the brain to stop
- 8:42the, you know, the Ronnie's brain from going back in time
- 8:44and find changes. Yeah, not the Bangles.
- 8:49Close your eyes. Give me your hand, darling.
- 8:54Do you feel my heart beat of? Sorry, do you know those
- 8:58bracelets the explosive braces? They go around.
- 9:01They probably Baker's going to get death death, by explosive
- 9:07bangle. I mean, his cams know that, but
- 9:10I do think he suits that story. I could see him, you know,
- 9:13tripping all over the set and he would do Tom.
- 9:17It's very colorful like Colin Baker's boxer.
- 9:21Yes, it is. Yeah, especially the bit.
- 9:23Where goes to the Ronnie mop. My brow magically make a saying
- 9:28that, and the sorry. I story with a previous doctor.
- 9:33Yeah, yeah, I'd like to see something like, I think on a
- 9:37Baker's, brilliant inventions lumbar us, but I think Peter
- 9:42Davison is Doctor, would give it a, it would be a bit gentler.
- 9:45It would be bit less in your face if you had a sort of
- 9:48morally, upright, doctor It beats.
- 9:51Dave's, yeah, true. That would work really well.
- 9:53But you couldn't really because people get him and Jason Connery
- 9:57mixed up because they both look the same, don't they?
- 9:59In a way they do, well, they take off PA Davidson's close.
- 10:04But the dress is gonna, I don't think anyone especially me and
- 10:07Lucy McCall will be complaining. That's a good question.
- 10:10Thanks, Mikey. It was a good one and the next
- 10:13one this is from mouth. Mm rope, three-dimensional
- 10:17stuff, he's back. Regarding the level of violence,
- 10:24it contained. Do you feel the violence had
- 10:26already increased in season 21? You've already asked this
- 10:29question. I asked that one, laughs.
- 10:30Yeah, okay. Well, from Rob, your question
- 10:32was very good, but the answer is, in the first part of this
- 10:36JoJo, one, two, three, Georgia. One, two, three, hello.
- 10:41What's that unit? No, I'm sorry.
- 10:43They've been cut due to lack of funding Eileen evasions.
- 10:46Well, when's the last time that happened?
- 10:48Sorry, God. And favorite Daleks We from the
- 10:5180s our rev, okay? My favorite, Dalek story of the
- 10:5780s is revelation of the Daleks, but it's not because it's a
- 11:02Dalek story because it's just a fucking brilliant story.
- 11:05My favorite story with Daleks in it of the 80s is remembrance of
- 11:10the Daleks. I think Marissa's, their best is
- 11:12their best outing, their back to sort of being the guy in charge
- 11:16again, aren't they? I'd ever also pops up for some
- 11:18rice pudding at the end, but it's been If it's not even
- 11:21divert all the way through. Yeah.
- 11:23Yeah. And those do you like the design
- 11:25of those Imperial Daleks? I mean, it's got the special
- 11:28weapons dialects in it, so it can take out 31, go.
- 11:32I know I'd say, I'd say, off all the alarms in London, at the
- 11:38same time, honestly, just bit like you in it.
- 11:43Okay, Jeff the wheezing Grandpa's, oh, that's that's
- 11:47lovely. Jeff got all do right?
- 11:48Okay, sorry. It's sometimes, I read people's
- 11:50names are sometimes of The ads. But I'm just saying Chef got
- 11:53uploaded fabulous. Pair of the doctor commentary
- 11:55will GNT ever get the credit he deserves for overseeing, a
- 12:00nearly full decade of Doctor Who and ensuring that he carried on
- 12:04Post 89 initially with like the years sets, like, kept the
- 12:08Legacy rather than being maligned for the shortcomings
- 12:11and lack of belief from the beep themselves.
- 12:14I think that's already happened. I think that book life is
- 12:18Godless times are drawn a from Turner that Documentary, that's
- 12:22on the season. 26, boxers or 26? The John nathan-turner one.
- 12:29I think he's getting some recognition now in a way that he
- 12:32wasn't, and if you go and listen to my planet of fire commentary,
- 12:35which is not out yet. So you can in the future, we
- 12:39actually talked about how he can put the money on the screen in a
- 12:42pretty spectacular way. And how his guest casting works
- 12:45and do you think that John nathan-turner does a lot of the
- 12:49same tricks that Rossi day? I said later, he brings him some
- 12:52sort of prestige guest actors. He tries to make it look as
- 12:56expensive as possible. It makes it fun and campy and
- 12:59accessible to children. I think Jets or Rusty.
- 13:03James Rusty. Doses are better producer and he
- 13:06understands television best at the Jonathan Turner.
- 13:09But if you had John nathan-turner with that mindset.
- 13:11Yeah, it's very much with the, on the merchandise and the whole
- 13:14branding, you know. Yeah.
- 13:17Regular costumes over yet. That old branding mind.
- 13:19We got it all. A fortune.
- 13:21Well, Roy's. The problem was Eric's or those
- 13:25some of those scripts, the things you get with Rusty Davis,
- 13:28is he's overseeing all of that amazing sort of dialogue in the
- 13:31story arcs, and all of the characterization.
- 13:35That's what John nathan-turner, didn't have.
- 13:36He didn't have somebody else doing that.
- 13:40It is wonderful in that Jay and him wasn't it, where he goes so.
- 13:44Well, I did my job, I got this, I got the Studio's booked, I got
- 13:48the actors in. I've got the budgets.
- 13:51I think all he had to do was sort out the fucking scripts.
- 13:55So, Eric's Awards, sorry. You know, Aris award was say,
- 13:57wouldn't you? What was all the fault?
- 13:59The producer, Jonathan Turner? Did you think he's getting
- 14:04recognition now? Jonathan Turner?
- 14:06I think so now, I think, yeah, I think people understand a lot
- 14:10more about what was going on and what he actually put up with and
- 14:14just get it on. Like we're lucky to have what we
- 14:17had. I think if we have you talked to
- 14:20fandom in In after season 18, his name would be lauded to the
- 14:24High Heavens after the ground Williams era.
- 14:26If you talk to him after season 20 in the five, doctors after
- 14:29the celebration thing at Langley, he was in the
- 14:33Zeitgeist, it's only after that. And then I think what killed his
- 14:37reputation was the show. Coming off the air.
- 14:39In a you knowing, I think that was the problem.
- 14:43And then after that, they were like, well, this is a guy that
- 14:44killed dr. Who I think anyone ever actually
- 14:46said that, but I think that was sort of the appealing that in
- 14:49the air. I mean, he wants to Papa What
- 14:51with all the signs and stuff? I mean fans we're Our Own Worst
- 14:56Enemy. Why do you say that?
- 14:59Because just usual criticized when he does.
- 15:02Oh yeah yeah. Yeah.
- 15:03If you don't you and never and never with a new episode comes
- 15:07out you just cannot win. Like everyone expects it always
- 15:10to be the best thing ever. We can imagine if I'm suspecting
- 15:13that then in 2011 started soon coming soon too serious.
- 15:21What we have 15, Sol thinking, whatever 45 minutes with
- 15:25gastropods on the ceiling in CGI.
- 15:27Amazing. Next question is from Chris
- 15:31Hogue burn. Hello Chris how are you doing?
- 15:35And he is asking which big monster should not have come
- 15:40back and watch classic monster. Could have been used instead in
- 15:45the 80s, the 80s. I think they, you know, I've
- 15:50been listening to Mission to Magnus this week, you may well
- 15:54roll your eyes, it's a lot of fun.
- 15:56You know, seals creating woolly jumpers for the people of
- 15:59Magnus. I think the ice Warriors could
- 16:03have been done pretty well in the 80s.
- 16:04Actually, they probably would have brought back the old
- 16:07costumes and give them a polisher, but think of the
- 16:09Daleks and the 80s and the Cybermen, they looked great.
- 16:12They did look really, really good.
- 16:13What wouldn't I brought back the silurians and the Sea Devils?
- 16:17Neither of them. There was no point.
- 16:19Really was the samurai. See Devils, especially the see
- 16:22that. I mean you could have had the
- 16:23silurians. Yeah, but what do this see
- 16:27Devils actually do? They're not, but it is weird
- 16:29when you bring back a monster and then you fundamentally sort
- 16:31of don't get what they're about in the first place.
- 16:35Like it originally, they looked a bit more organic and the eye
- 16:37thing was a weapon. Well, now the, I FN glows, every
- 16:41time they talk with an ass have real fannish criticism to make,
- 16:46but I feel like if you're going to the effort to bring something
- 16:49back, that was popular before. Or get it right?
- 16:53Is that fair? Yeah.
- 16:54Anybody looked back. And then, yeah, it was just
- 16:58doing it for the sake of doing it to please, the fans or to do
- 17:01like all this will get people interested in is like, well, no,
- 17:05do you think we would have had really shit zygons in the 80s?
- 17:08Oh, you know what? Probably probably good that we
- 17:11did, you know, like what the sontarans look like?
- 17:21Monsters in the last couple of years.
- 17:22The candy man is brilliant. Destroy that we said cause she
- 17:28people close by pussy but well it's more difficult to do
- 17:32further than latex. Probably it's are you?
- 17:36So that's really really scary with us.
- 17:49I feel that's what I didn't use them.
- 17:51So that was a problem officer, a few things about how I run, they
- 17:54do look like a butthole. Okay, would you have been
- 18:25excited if John nathan-turner? Had still been around?
- 18:28Yeah, oh my God. Excited to have had a script in
- 18:42Eccleston season by John nathan-turner and David Roden if
- 18:47it was called dimensions in time and yes, no, that was just in
- 18:50time. The sequel.
- 18:51It would have been amazing to have John nathan-turner, like
- 18:54opinion on the RTD. Come back.
- 18:59Imagine, did you say that? You reimagined two dimensions in
- 19:03time in the new series, will you it's very easy?
- 19:06What would you use? Hey, what's so bad?
- 19:09That you'd be exactly the same. Exactly what you do is.
- 19:11Send us again completely different and you like one of
- 19:17the reality shows I suppose so yeah, my Collins.
- 19:23The thing is Ronnie, right people.
- 19:26So take out Pat Butcher and put in Gemma Collins, you know, the
- 19:31way from are what you're saying? What?
- 19:32Combination lock you out though? Which I have Christopher
- 19:35Eccleston and Bill Paulson. Yeah, mix of all off and David
- 19:39Tennant. And Ryan are that would be the
- 19:41highest combination ever, but they were very different fields
- 19:48and homage to the Don't over that bear.
- 19:50I'm so sorry. Okay.
- 19:52Alright I you to set me right off.
- 19:53You do. Okay, next question from you
- 19:56just post that t over place you very much.
- 19:59It's from Robert Valentine. Oh Robert Valentine.
- 20:03You angel angel. You're so smart.
- 20:13He did a Storyteller. Come true.
- 20:15Will people know because I've heard it now that I such a small
- 20:18bloke. Anyway, cool.
- 20:19Broke got to say, would your feelings about the era?
- 20:24Yeah. Be the same or different if the
- 20:26show had intended in 89, I think so.
- 20:30Yeah. I think so.
- 20:31I think had it, had it gone on into the 90s with another
- 20:34producer, it will just be another era.
- 20:36Wouldn't it like the Williams era like the Hinchcliffe error?
- 20:40It wouldn't be sort of the tail end of classic Doctor Who it
- 20:45would just be another chapter in that story.
- 20:48So yeah, I I genuinely think people would look back on the
- 20:5180s with a lot more. What?
- 20:53They, they, as we've already discussed, they do, but I don't
- 20:56think it would have had its gutter reputation.
- 20:59Had it continued. I know, I know you keep going on
- 21:03about this but the 90s Doctor Who that we would deny it.
- 21:06Yeah, I always think of bugs series to, which you haven't
- 21:10seen yet, which is got an arc of the Cyber acts of Iris.
- 21:13I'm watching it. We've and I go into space and
- 21:15everything. Some of that it's basically
- 21:17Doctor Who and Ross, Henderson is the doctor and fellow has
- 21:22been cancelled from Neighbors, Krakow McLaughlin.
- 21:24And you probably right now I actually might be all right,
- 21:26Jesse Birdsall? Yeah.
- 21:27They're the companions Roth is definitely the Dockside.
- 21:30She is the best. Don't you think?
- 21:32Yeah. Can you please?
- 21:33They waste. I don't imagine though if they
- 21:35were going to go with Richard Griffiths as that 90s doctor I
- 21:39mean and Julia. Sawalha is the companion.
- 21:41I can see her. I'm not sure about him.
- 21:43All I remember him is and heated pie-in-the-sky around that time
- 21:46kind of Scar. Yeah.
- 21:49I can't imagine him as the doctor gave us a man that big
- 21:51Caribbean side where he was the, the vicar with the speech
- 21:54impediment. So he's doing like the
- 21:56christening speech and he sometimes goes like this, he's
- 22:03that pervy Uncle isn't he is an eye and I swear isn't he like
- 22:07the perfect teacher in The History Boys as well.
- 22:11I just imagined mr. Griffis, this was the perv.
- 22:13We can't let mr. McCoy.
- 22:14Basically played the the Seventh Doctor as a vehicle or less, if
- 22:18you listen to Jack, Doing it, or the greatest look, winky winky.
- 22:27How am I going here? Anyway, so any, what was
- 22:30questioned? Your feelings about the era but
- 22:33yeah. Oh yeah, Rob I think, I think
- 22:35so. And I think, I think it should
- 22:37have been cancelled. I think, under any, the fact
- 22:39that it was cancelled so, quietly as well.
- 22:41I thought they were clever stealth.
- 22:43Yeah, but it was in the newspapers.
- 22:50You don't want another record, do you?
- 22:52I think they just said it's not coming.
- 22:54My God. That's probably why they did it.
- 22:55They were like, kind of another Dutchman distress will just
- 22:59don't say it's cancel. Can I do it?
- 23:01Okay, go on. About ice Warriors the seven
- 23:10feet of doctor in the stress, I mention that in the 90s.
- 23:15So what you've been making me watch 90's, boy bands recently,
- 23:19imagine them doing doctor in distress, 911, take that and
- 23:23boyzone all coming together. He said to it be like this
- 23:26wouldn't, it would be a is shaking.
- 23:38Master manipulator. Souter describes cocoon.
- 23:45I want one thing and take that Lulu, Sylvester McCoy and Sophie
- 23:49aldred. Yeah, you know you make me.
- 23:59Shake my tits anyway, sorry. Sorry.
- 24:03Yes I did. Thank you for your question.
- 24:12Next question, from Mark dhadak Market article or how misjudged,
- 24:18if at all, was Eric's a words ambition, to release the
- 24:24handbrake on violence and portray the doctor as the less
- 24:27heroic figure capable of failure, and how differently do
- 24:31you think 80s, who would have panned out if his tenure as
- 24:34script editor had Been shorter. Sorry, my screen went off way
- 24:40through their well, we all know your house.
- 24:42I know, I know we've talked a lot about exciting but it is
- 24:44very telling that a lot of these questions are are it's a word
- 24:48Century. He does come up as a figure of
- 24:50the 80s, a controversial figure of 80s who.
- 24:53Yeah, but he did, he screw started five of nine Seasons.
- 24:56That's why do you think that the 80s will be better considered in
- 25:01varrock say? What hasn't stayed around so
- 25:03long. Well, yeah, I think so.
- 25:05Yeah, I agree. I agree without you know what,
- 25:08right? I think those Colin, Baker years
- 25:12and the latter, Peter Davison years, they are.
- 25:15It is too violent. It is a bit jumbled, but they're
- 25:19also really colorful stories and I find them quite funny.
- 25:25I like the Violet, I don't mind the violence, so I don't I it
- 25:29is, is if it wasn't there. It's a type of doctor who we
- 25:33never would have had. But did you need Chloe Astra
- 25:36being shot and resurrection of the?
- 25:37Daleks are the floella Benjamin. I would, I couldn't.
- 25:40Imagine that. Imagine, oh, let's what's what's
- 25:45inside this window? Malik know that the question
- 25:52about Colin Baker, being a more aggressive floor, doctor that
- 25:56whole mr. Darcy thing I think was a
- 25:58brilliant idea. So him coming in unlikable and
- 26:01then becoming likeable and that we get to know me.
- 26:04Overtime and and he's a bit alien and weird.
- 26:07So reacts Tom Baker was a bit like that time they could be a
- 26:10grumpy fucker in story is like seeds to do and horrifying Rock
- 26:14and people lap it up. Colin Baker's are grumpy fucker
- 26:17and people really don't like it and I think maybe because it's a
- 26:20bit more pantomimic, it's a bit less.
- 26:26Don't say such a lot of in Tom Baker.
- 26:28Software was punching. Bloody chauffeurs different in
- 26:31that in that Tom Baker's were grumpy performance.
- 26:33I do you mean but with Colin Baker's?
- 26:35No he's shouty in your face. Tom Baker was never like that.
- 26:39You love that they won't call it Bankers all shouting and you're
- 26:41not so much when Perry's like shy and going like you know like
- 26:47sort of screwing up my face trying to keep away from him.
- 26:49You know what, the worst part is sort of more.
- 26:51Like if I say this your alerts you're going to wince don't the
- 26:54worst Colin Baker example of being in your Face and try.
- 26:56So when he goes bad and then you think he's done and he goes like
- 27:04who is this supposed to be appealing to?
- 27:06Yeah, if Colin Baker played a bit more like Tom Baker in that
- 27:09way, where he Tom Baker's just a bit more sort of dismissive.
- 27:13Yeah. But and but not over-the-top
- 27:15where I don't think. Colin Baker.
- 27:16You know what you get, you know what, you get when Colin
- 27:19Baker's, are complete arse like that and then he plays against
- 27:23it. So you get that bit in attacking
- 27:25side where it's like, you know, I'm a Time Lord, a man of
- 27:27passion morally, screaming his head off and then he just turns
- 27:30to Perry and goes I won't hurt you.
- 27:32I promise touches are on the nose and it's really cute.
- 27:36I think. Colin Baker, found, those
- 27:38moments, I think it could have been made to work really, really
- 27:41well. Interesting.
- 27:42I don't think it did work because people turned off when
- 27:44Colin Baker was. Although someone did the numbers
- 27:47recently on Twitter. After we brought our part 1,
- 27:50Season 22, as an average got higher ratings by nearly 2
- 27:55million than Season 20 and 21. So it wasn't critically, it may
- 28:01have been unsuccessful. But certainly in terms of viewer
- 28:04numbers it was more successful than Davison's were second and
- 28:08third year, which is quite interesting.
- 28:13It wasn't there, but I don't think it was done well with
- 28:15Capaldi either. I really like asshole Capaldi,
- 28:18like I really like on a better but I think for the audience
- 28:21it's a bit like it puts a distance between the doctor in
- 28:25the audience. Make him be that sort of person
- 28:27that's going. You know, you wanna have a chat
- 28:29with that fellow, rude. I will use the top layer over
- 28:31there, go. So you can do little this, you
- 28:33know, for him to be that nasty Fraser Gregory's wife chipped
- 28:38out at that point. She stopped watching and she
- 28:40didn't watch again until the woman who fell to Earth because
- 28:42she was like, I don't like this guy so I think you can do it.
- 28:47But you've got a temper it and we've Tom Baker, those early Tom
- 28:50Baker's. You've got Sarah, Jane and Harry
- 28:52in that first year and he's really warm and Kind and lovely
- 28:57with them. I think that makes a difference,
- 29:00it. So you've got the two sides to
- 29:01him. He can be an arrogant asshole
- 29:04with authority figures and mercenaries.
- 29:06And all of this base still got his best friend.
- 29:09That is going around the universe and joking and laughing
- 29:11with. What was the question again?
- 29:15Did it would all was having him as a flawed character.
- 29:17Did it work? Yeah, I think it worked.
- 29:20I think, oh, he said does, should he get more plaudits for
- 29:23it? No.
- 29:24Because I think it could have been made to work and X will
- 29:26didn't make. It work was negative stuff going
- 29:31so far. We saw Jesus.
- 29:34And his two books for resurrection of the Daleks and
- 29:37revelation of the Daleks are absolutely turns Tegan into
- 29:43bionic woman. I don't understand that I did
- 29:45the resurrection die. So I hope it does explain why
- 29:48where she fell off that thing in power of the doctor, and we
- 29:51never saw her land. It does explain why she's still
- 29:53alive. You know, well then it should
- 29:55bionic woman was Just take on the side man.
- 29:57Imagine that you know, sort of Matrix style effects imagine
- 30:01Tegan's or ducking and Diving as the sidemen of shooting bolts.
- 30:04Her anyway. So I next question.
- 30:07Next question from David G, David G, hello.
- 30:11The 20th anniversary was one of the show's popularity Peaks but
- 30:16after that he went into something of a decline it's true
- 30:20is he just making a statement from a show getting a big 90
- 30:22minute special to the ax less than two years later walk went
- 30:26Wrong. Well, we've already asked that
- 30:28question. That we're not going to repeat
- 30:30it, so let's say it together. One, two, three, Eric's Awards.
- 30:35He do you think, do not think Conley Baker was to blame as
- 30:41well? I don't think know, Colin Baker
- 30:44at all. Never Colin Baker at a finer
- 30:48Ambassador for the show. You could not me.
- 30:52Another one from Fraser, of course is 80s.
- 30:54Who more or less Progressive than 70s?
- 30:57Who do we saw that last time? No Progressive and what you were
- 31:03that's very broad. Does he mean in terms of sexual
- 31:06politics regular politics in terms of Technology.
- 31:13I don't know, morality, I think in terms of sexual politics.
- 31:20So in sort of gender, triumphs the 70s does better than the 80s
- 31:26and I think, interestingly it's the late 70s is the grown
- 31:29Williams era, which you just gone through.
- 31:31Now, tell me how many fabulous women that you've seen in the
- 31:35ground Williams era. Not as many as like, the 60s
- 31:38all. Are you kidding me right now?
- 31:41Us women in the gray and William Sera.
- 31:43Okay, I'm going to make a start by saying one.
- 31:46The Ventura Min image of the fender.
- 31:47I'll hold on. No, she just what?
- 31:50She just glowed. A bit turned gold and didn't say
- 31:53a word. Rodin Ramana Lila.
- 31:56Okay. Ramona to the serried.
- 31:58Applause Emelia Rumford. Okay, there's a few.
- 32:02Hang on. I'm not done.
- 32:03Lady Ad Astra. She's not fabulous.
- 32:07Claire from Sharda. She is fabulous.
- 32:10She doesn't get much to do. She's on her own.
- 32:12Most of the time just tinkering in that cupboard.
- 32:14There are brilliant like really into women, what about Eileen
- 32:18way in, which from the pit doesn't do very much.
- 32:21Oh, you are too harsh. Do you think the 80s more
- 32:25Progressive? And in terms of women, not only
- 32:28the sixties is such as those characters that we had come on.
- 32:32They give me some examples for Rhea enemy.
- 32:35The world. Oh yeah.
- 32:36That's true. I'll actually there's loads and
- 32:38trout this time. Miss Kelly Miss Garrett can do
- 32:45from the dominators. Remember her.
- 32:46Maybe. Jennifer ya.
- 32:49Later. Jennifer.
- 32:50Yes. Yeah.
- 32:51Okay. Alright.
- 32:52Okay. So now we're saying the Neva the
- 32:5470s or the 80s, we're saying the 60s Fraser.
- 32:57Okay. Okay.
- 32:59Next question from Tom Keyhole, hello.
- 33:03Hello Tom keel. Sort of touched upon this last
- 33:07time but in a hypothetical world if any of the 1980s stories were
- 33:10missing from the archives which would have a greater reputation
- 33:15by dint of being missing and they necessarily otherwise
- 33:19deserve, whoever similar questions first, before that was
- 33:22swap out, one swapping missing one for thing.
- 33:24He was so what's he saying if a story was missing from the 80s
- 33:27which would have a better reputation as a soundtrack
- 33:30stories were missing from the archives which would have a
- 33:32greater reputation by be missing?
- 33:34Yeah than they already have. Yeah.
- 33:35So would their reputation be different if it was missing?
- 33:39See what I mean? But if we only had tele snaps
- 33:41other vervoids, would we be in the gym?
- 34:05Charles to speculate just what it was like inside the eye of
- 34:08the black hole of Tartarus. You've taken a peek in there a
- 34:12few times. And yeah, John gonna say well
- 34:17dragon fire because I think dragon fire as a script is quite
- 34:22witty and courage for what I think is a good performance
- 34:24piece, but boy, I look shit, doesn't it?
- 34:27It looks terrible. Imagine, if you could just
- 34:30imagine iOS world and this fabulous freezer sent out of
- 34:33this marvelous Cafe and sing In trees, Ice Gardens Glitz.
- 34:37You know, imagine imagine seeing that in your head with an
- 34:40enormous budget because the sound effects are all very you
- 34:44get all sorts of glistened glistening.
- 34:46The I sound effects and the and the music's really kind of Epic
- 34:49and cinematic. So I'm going to say dragon for
- 34:51what about you Well reputation, yeah.
- 34:57If it was missing stuff. Hmm.
- 35:01Dragonflies. We could shout maybe twin
- 35:07dilemma. You think, well, as a script as
- 35:10a sound drone in turning, some tell you here is one with us and
- 35:13we must going but yeah, I know where it is.
- 35:16A where we're going. It just wouldn't have to see any
- 35:18of the terrible acting but we're prisoners.
- 35:25Pick up your pins. No.
- 35:27Lucky Penny, if anything's missing it automatically has
- 35:29that extra level of something about it.
- 35:32It's all about even like Smugglers or something.
- 35:36That people might not be interested in listening to the
- 35:37soundtrack but it's cool that. Okay what if what if we have
- 35:42sixties is more sort of, well because of them because there
- 35:45are missing stories that people long to see.
- 35:47Do you imagine the 80s? Would be better considered if
- 35:49there was all these gaps. All we've just so used to seeing
- 35:53those ones like I do. I'm desperate to see the Kings
- 35:55Demers the soundtrack of that fabulous song.
- 36:12Imagine how big Perry's tits are from the very few from the very
- 36:18few images. Yeah you see that book Virginia.
- 36:37Yep. Get every stripe, man, that they
- 36:52don't have to about penknife, not many, as they Mark manners,
- 36:57Fraser Gregory. I bet that picture was formative
- 36:59for all of them. What does it mean?
- 37:01What do they take it with a knife or something?
- 37:04A shot of Nicola Bryant. What was your thought of
- 37:07formative, bloke? In Doctor Who mom was Dipper?
- 37:13Bit rough? Anyway, sorry, I'm asking the
- 37:15question they. All right, next question.
- 37:17Another one from frasor. I'll look a here we go.
- 37:20Just what is it? It do you think about Terminus
- 37:23that makes sigh heart? Love it.
- 37:24So what's very strange? Just why you know once you find
- 37:28it's like no he doesn't hate say okay but phrase has been going
- 37:31on about me and side doing a commentary on Terminus for
- 37:34bloody ages. He doesn't like it Fraser.
- 37:38The joke is old. That know, the joke will never
- 37:40be old. He doesn't like it though.
- 37:43You better move on or be rude. I've got another Fraser one
- 37:45actually as well. Just on the thread here.
- 37:48Just all phrase a question. This is a biggie.
- 37:51As sensible. Serious question, not knock Mary
- 37:54plasma. Torches takes a bit of
- 37:56concentration, okay, you ready? Yeah.
- 37:59You have seven stories. You can pick from all of 80s,
- 38:02Doctor Who, yeah, to build your ultimate 80s Doctor Who super
- 38:07season. I'll my God stories.
- 38:10And what order that may be the best question we've had yet,
- 38:15supers, okay, you've got to do this as well.
- 38:16Then open stories, that's quite a lot actually seven.
- 38:20Okay, I'm going to go. A bit nice.
- 38:21So I'm going to say no, no it could just be some stories.
- 38:26So I'm going to say Warriors gay this in the right order so
- 38:30that's your season. Opener Warriors game, if one
- 38:32Switched Off a coin flipping up a dreary than the beginning of
- 38:42the Leisure. I've, you know, kind of cross
- 38:44all those textures. No, I'm just choosing something
- 38:47stories. All right.
- 38:47I'm not building International season.
- 38:54Okay. Well, guess I'm uh stories.
- 38:55Okay. Warriors of us towards the date
- 38:58or is gay Guy. Yeah.
- 39:03Earth shock snake dance. From TS that's for already shit.
- 39:14Case managers on a we won't quite gritty.
- 39:17You can quite revelation of the Daleks and ghost-like Mal.
- 39:25What a season. There's not much light in there.
- 39:28They're quite waiting. That's the way to the zoo.
- 39:36A little bit of light. We're so glad she has to go.
- 39:41But where is she going gone. I don't know what job you're
- 39:46seven remembrance of the Daleks. Okay, that's your opener is me,
- 39:51open. I thank you, Paul.
- 39:55And then I go visitation. Okay, ghost Oracle, we do sorted
- 40:00in the series. Visitation, I do other
- 40:02visitation, it's very simple. Oh, she's a member of the Dalek
- 40:06story. Gave one in, then you go
- 40:08history, right around a forest. And now, let's go somewhere in
- 40:10the future. So, then Yeah, maybe Frontier
- 40:14such let me good one, then Frontiers and then we need to go
- 40:19sort of back to Earth again, somewhere.
- 40:21And that sort of that, that's your midseason sort of slump, or
- 40:24maybe I do Arc of Infinity coming back Battlefield.
- 40:39Very good, two more, two more. You're living up to your finale.
- 40:43Now, So sort of like you got building up then have curse of
- 40:49fenric. Yes.
- 40:50About telling about him in last night and then your big finale
- 40:53story would be something. Like, how's it going to finish?
- 41:01And we're gonna finish the season.
- 41:03Then the Daleks we come back revelation of the Daleks, oh, I
- 41:06can't do very quickly and alternative 7, because this is
- 41:09gonna be my Camp season, you ready?
- 41:12Yeah. So we're going to start with me.
- 41:13Laughs. Yeah, and then next up we're
- 41:16going to have four to Doomsday has by Zeus season so far.
- 41:22Yeah. All right.
- 41:23Why do you say? It's going to be great.
- 41:25We're going to follow that up. With what's really camping?
- 41:28Season 20. No, not really much as their
- 41:33Camp. Okay, we're going to go straight
- 41:35into time. Lash followed boy, top of the
- 41:39Ronnie follow boy. Dealt with abandonment.
- 41:46Followed by happiness Patrol and finally silver Nemesis amazing.
- 41:53Okay, that's a good question, Fraser, I didn't really
- 41:55structure mine into a season. You did better with a structure
- 41:58of the seasons and will do Darren lit roundels.
- 42:02Darren witch doctor would you choose to have an extra season
- 42:06and why Conley Baker? Yeah, for sure it's got to well
- 42:10that, you know, kind of make had as many stories as first McCoy.
- 42:13I just feel like it's first required, a better Innings,
- 42:15that's all. All.
- 42:16But yeah, they had they had exactly the same amount of
- 42:18individual stories. Yeah.
- 42:24Trying to find some other ways, you can call me back up.
- 42:27What? I've had more running time, you
- 42:28know, because he had more for partners.
- 42:33Yeah. 42 to 45 minutes, are we done?
- 42:40I'm just trying to see. There are some sort of duplicate
- 42:43your questions. I'm trying to keep people inside
- 42:45the bigger. They are the master and I can't
- 42:48line computer actually. Oh well then I'm going to ask
- 42:53you a few questions about the 80s if you don't mind.
- 42:57Sure. What is the finest comedy moment
- 42:59of the 80s comedy moment. Yeah, Yeah.
- 43:07And why is it Patrick pretending to fallen off his bike and look
- 43:10up Alice? I don't think he's come, buddy.
- 43:38Nothing in the Davison time. Really?
- 43:40Is it? It's all a bit.
- 43:42Yeah. And then always post, maybe
- 43:44revelation of the Daleks are some good comedy.
- 43:46As I suppose, if, in the terms of Bob dark comedy, I suppose,
- 43:50and they're always kissing, but not by you.
- 43:55I love a woman who plays hard to get.
- 43:57Well, then you'll love me to death who's supposed to react
- 43:59early eighties, then. G Alpha.
- 44:02Yeah, EZ G up has the worst. Well pennant Roberts did worries
- 44:08the deed and time lash. How did he determine what?
- 44:12I guess I would have got better. He went he did Black Orchid and
- 44:19then time flight an arc of infinity started real bad but
- 44:25then he did Frontier and Venison baras and mine warp.
- 44:29And so I think his Direction gets Better as it goes along.
- 44:32Peter morphe, although I don't want lose him.
- 44:34A call coming after me. She loves peeing with it.
- 44:37But then you know what? He's inoffensive.
- 44:39We say people fit. Do you like the two doctors?
- 44:42I like the two doctors. I like the five doctors.
- 44:44You like the visitation? Yeah.
- 44:47She like more than I did. Yeah, that's dumb.
- 44:50So, we like all of his stories and I just as dynamic as they
- 44:53could have, been, you know, who's the best villain of the
- 44:5680s and why is it Look at these microbes, they're evolving, even
- 45:04as I speak. Now that is another cherished.
- 45:07Jack is pretty good. Ultimate villain.
- 45:14You think our chefs? The question of the 80s, very
- 45:16good. Yeah, I so I'm going to say,
- 45:18what are you going to agree with me?
- 45:19Well, I've got to go somewhere where people know how to be
- 45:23happy where they know how to control themselves.
- 45:33Where there was no compassion where this control is great.
- 45:38The candy man? I love the candy, manly, Candy
- 45:40Kitchen but this thing loves. That's the one story that
- 45:47everyone loves your most out of sync with.
- 45:50Yeah. Okay.
- 45:53Well then I'm going to round this up with a little game.
- 45:58I like to call described in one word.
- 46:00It's okay, you ready? Mmm, okay, so I'm going to pick
- 46:03random stories from the 80s and then you've got a scratch the
- 46:07bottom where you can do that to me with characters and villains
- 46:12and things. All right, so the Leisure hive
- 46:16Boring. Okay.
- 46:19For trial could melka. Is that good?
- 46:24I thought it was his first word that came into my head.
- 46:26Fair enough. Okay?
- 46:28Castro. Valvo Tardis.
- 46:32Corridors you love them. Don't you in okay?
- 46:36- yeah. Violent, the king of demons.
- 46:45Chameleon. Hey, y'all comedian?
- 46:48I love comedian. I really do.
- 46:50Do you really wish you'd been in a bit more?
- 46:53Kill me. I eat always just sort of
- 46:55propped up against the Tardis console and he moved his head a
- 46:58little bit and said, a few lines the beginning and end of each
- 47:00story, I think that would have been great like a bit of a
- 47:03canine. The Awakening of what's her
- 47:08name? I'll probably James.
- 47:10What does she keep saying? Who's the guy that she keeps
- 47:12saying the name? Oh oh, come on, baby.
- 47:15Ben. Hey, ya been They wakening is
- 47:28when taken runs off upset. She has a bag, and she's puts on
- 47:31a fat, that's in. Someone's excited.
- 47:34So Gramps, I love the fact that we may have like a grandfather.
- 47:40I guess one lawyer today. Next time you drop by, give us a
- 47:44bit of Wounded Warrior. That's his whole thing wakening,
- 47:48actually, you like it. Lots of people, like, I think
- 47:51it's It's missing a lot from having no proper setup.
- 47:58I think and Charles search for the characters.
- 48:00It's just a lot of set pieces for the way you like it looks
- 48:03good though. Okay, one from Season 22.
- 48:07So I'm going to choose Mark of the Rani.
- 48:15I'm not a fan of that one much either.
- 48:17Do you ever see Luke walls package though?
- 48:19Do you always talk about that huge?
- 48:22Well, I didn't notice it till peel a point.
- 48:23Now, mindwarp complicated, as very cold.
- 48:31It's so this is. Here's an example.
- 48:33This is bad 80s, running, whoever it was producer, script
- 48:36editor director, you say, Ron Jones, why can anybody explain
- 48:40the script to Colin Baker about playing, what all they did, you
- 48:43know what I mean? You know where they did it?
- 48:44They do it when it was doing the carpentry years later with
- 48:47Philip, Martin filling, Martin explained know.
- 48:49The reason why you're acting out of character isn't because the
- 48:53Matrix is lying or the doctors pretending to be evil.
- 48:56Is neither one of those reasons is because the brain equipment
- 49:02that they put him in at the end of episode one, you know, where
- 49:04you're going around. Sort of girding on camera,
- 49:07that's just been on King. You can toss it leaves, a print
- 49:10of the previous brain. So he had a print of your
- 49:14Carlos's. Rain on top of his brain, which
- 49:16is why he's behaving sort of violently and out of character.
- 49:19Well, it see, why isn't because they won't exist.
- 49:24Example, though, in terms of everything else.
- 49:26John nathan-turner is great at doing all of that and it started
- 49:28to use job to explain the script to Colin Baker, really?
- 49:31Whoever it was someone's kept their eye off it.
- 49:35Yeah, this is where those details are really important
- 49:38because then you get that dislikable keratin what the
- 49:41audience supposed to think if they don't know what's going on,
- 49:44how Do we care about what's happening as a bit more than one
- 49:48word about my walk? But well you know, that's an
- 49:50example of sort of where the 80s went a little bit wrong around
- 49:53that time. I can't think of any other time
- 49:57and I 60s 70s, where you get things like that, where it's
- 50:00like well we didn't know it was you know again Terrance dicks or
- 50:02Barry Letts would never have been like well we don't know
- 50:05exactly know what's going on ask Barry let you know all those
- 50:08countries very that's can explain every little my new
- 50:11decision and detail and bit of the script and everything that
- 50:16went on why that's happening or why we did that very less is a
- 50:20man of great integrity as if I think it was some of those 80s
- 50:23production team. They'd be like Like well we just
- 50:25don't have enough time or it was just you know we're just up
- 50:28against them. We just did it anyway.
- 50:30You know I feel like it's a bit like that.
- 50:32I'm glad you weren't a fan in the 80s.
- 50:33You know, I know you imagine if I would happy if you are also
- 50:37saying that I like all of them to there's not anything I know
- 50:40so I just meant it might have been you in that production
- 50:43office with the Timeless script under the desk, you're very
- 50:46pretty when you were younger, you are by Gary Downey, siding
- 50:49up to you saying, hey, Fred tearing out, That sure that
- 50:55convention. Did I man from energetic?
- 51:06Oh. Yeah, silver nemesis.
- 51:15We surely do honey we surely do, I'm going to ask you some
- 51:21descriptive the corner okay I'm just going to quote you know
- 51:27that right well okay the valley add and if it does I shall ask
- 51:35this court to take your life is fabulous.
- 51:39I think Michael Jason is a very bizarre man with some very
- 51:42interesting views. Conventions.
- 51:45But boy, he gave a brilliant performance.
- 51:48He almost single-handedly lifted That season way higher than it
- 51:53has any right to be. I think he's brilliant, I think
- 51:56him Lynda, Bellingham and Colin Baker, in those courtroom
- 52:00scenes, I mean, they would be in fucking interminable if he
- 52:03wasn't there. The Watcher really interesting
- 52:08idea, really, and I think those sequences like where you see him
- 52:11on the bridge just as sort of Spector and Tom Baker looks
- 52:15Slightly haunted after being so in control for six years.
- 52:20Interesting really fascinating concept of a sort of in between.
- 52:24Is it a regeneration or is it just a portent of the future?
- 52:27Is it ever explained properly? I think I think that's part of
- 52:30the charm Terror, alert tools, the animatronics were good for
- 52:39the time, but the whole thing just looks really clunky.
- 52:42I don't think we really quite get under the skin of the terror
- 52:46lips also having their very successful.
- 52:49The Ronnie is care Amara of. It's just fucking Sublime that
- 52:54they are taking dimensions in time where she goes.
- 52:58Can you to be a little less Camp k?
- 52:59There's can't she just look straight to the camera and goes.
- 53:02What show am I working on? Like she's amazing and she's
- 53:06amazing when she's playing it straight in tire.
- 53:08Mark of the Rani and she's even more glorious and time with her
- 53:13on it where she's camping out Let's get some lunch with it's
- 53:17brilliant. I think there is some sort of
- 53:19garon over-the-top showman role, Jago that arise so well, Tony,
- 53:25Selby perfect casting he could have come back more.
- 53:28As far as I'm concerned, she's cd0, the friends signed Greg,
- 53:35but that Noble history lies behind me, but ahead, lies of
- 53:39it, which basically server isn't, she but surveillance
- 53:43fucking amazing. I'm so kind of my everything
- 53:46your name and you're making me think.
- 53:48The 80s was the best ERA if I keep going and droog.
- 53:54Oh yeah, to bring me back down to earth.
- 53:55Didn't you Josie that claymation thing of a Drake Landing on the
- 53:59earth and the dinosaurian him about the boy that time.
- 54:02Forgot the big finish audio where he's King of the crab
- 54:04people. So defensiveness sir.
- 54:06Did he didn't? He say that always like to and
- 54:09try to get her as a mom? I don't want no adric is a good
- 54:14idea. The idea of The Artful Dodger
- 54:16character, all it needed was a Charming decent actor.
- 54:20Unfortunately, we got a young Matthew Waterhouse before he
- 54:23knew has marked The Keeper of the Rockland.
- 54:28Oh, it's tennis. Carry is Professor crew?
- 54:30Notice literally a fly. Got in Honey.
- 54:35Yeah, give her chocolate. It's lovely.
- 54:38Lovely. So I can see what you like is so
- 54:39much booty bamburgh to quote someone else.
- 54:44We know Queen, she's amazing. She is amazed that she should
- 54:48have rebuttal. If it we were 90s, who the bad
- 54:51Berra was called seabird seabed one.
- 54:54See both one series. It just shows you how great she
- 54:56could have been The dragon in dragon fire.
- 55:02It's a brilliant idea. Again like, yeah, let's lose the
- 55:06visuals. It's such a great idea that this
- 55:09thing that's keeping him. There is the thing that's
- 55:11holding the thing that will say I'm free.
- 55:13It's a proper like, fairytale idea of But it does look.
- 55:19Terrible is top heavy, isn't it? So it looks absurd, social that
- 55:24cute little girls waving our hanky at it night today's gold.
- 55:32It's if you've finished
- 55:56We can't unlearn knowledge. Think of Galileo, it's fucking
- 56:00honor Blackman. She's amazing.
- 56:03Okay, we've got, we've got three minutes to just do one more mr.
- 56:06Bell, you've called me, I would rather run away with my mother
- 56:13and Nona fawning little creep like you.
- 56:16Oh, I mean you know what? Best one for me.
- 56:20Are you picking your nose? It's in terms of like core
- 56:24tasks. In that season, he's my most
- 56:26grotesque characters. Let's hope it's a shame that it
- 56:29wasn't made of rock know, it would take a mountain to crush
- 56:32an ego like yours. One more, one more for Marcy.
- 56:37No. Oh my God!
- 56:39There's two are the traitors your mentioned for Marcy.
- 56:47Well, It's nice that they're not made in cyberspace and that
- 56:51they're made out of lovely green Fabrics, but they do look a bit
- 56:53faked and I'm doing husband did say don't give him a close up,
- 56:56you know. Okay.
- 56:58Before we out, let's, let's have a little celebration of the 80s.
- 57:04What do you think is the best thing to come out of 80s Doctor
- 57:07Who I'm in the individual story? What's the best thing to come
- 57:09out of these Doctor? Who I think I've got a, I think
- 57:12I've got an answer. The best things in terms of
- 57:21characters, I want to say case and all of the stuff Andrew
- 57:25cartmel did the doctor in a Cyrus, just say something quite
- 57:30similar because I think it was the first time a companion was
- 57:33examined. Yeah.
- 57:34In that way. And it led on to see the new
- 57:36adventures doing it an extreme way better than the new series
- 57:39doing it in a really fantastic way.
- 57:42Yeah. And in for purely personal
- 57:44reasons, Place. But no, I mean, I'm being
- 57:49genuine now, for purely personal reasons, it's Colin, Baker's
- 57:52doctor because when I was growing up, I needed a bit of a
- 57:56hero figure and, you know, no look at me like that.
- 57:59But Colin, Baker, genuinely. I got that trial of a Time Lord
- 58:02box set at a very difficult time.
- 58:04When my dad was going to prison, my mom and dad were getting
- 58:07divorced. My sister was off the rails.
- 58:08I'll hide us whole season of Doctor Who to watch over and
- 58:11over again with this big bold, bright hero and He is still my
- 58:16favorite doctor of all the doctors because at that point I
- 58:20needed a hero in my life and it was one of Time Lord childhood I
- 58:23was supposed to say stuff. No, it's okay.
- 58:28I was absolutely obsessed with that.
- 58:30Season are still love that season.
- 58:32I can see all of its flaws, but it was sort of there for me a
- 58:35time when I needed it. So yeah, although I do genuinely
- 58:39think the best thing to come out of the 80s is the Latter-Day
- 58:41characterization and and okay, we've got a minute and a half.
- 58:46The best story of the 80s. Oh my god.
- 58:49Oh, I'm just gonna go five. Doctors, that's just because it
- 58:52was a great celebration and fun and just did everything that you
- 58:57want. It said we're going to do
- 58:58minute, just fail, going to be bold and say, I think the best
- 59:01story to come out of the 80s and Eric's award story.
- 59:05It's revelation of the Daleks. I mean, I do love that story.
- 59:08I mean, we've been so harsh on every say a word, but he had did
- 59:11write some good stuff as well. That is pushing the show in very
- 59:15Mature. Very dark, very calming if only
- 59:19all of iterations? Yeah, that I over if so harsh on
- 59:23him because actually he has done some really good stuff and you
- 59:26just wish it had been all like that.
- 59:28We lament the fact that he was sent off.
- 59:32You said, you know, you probably want a holiday instead of doing
- 59:34the scripts, but J and T when going on a day and right
- 59:36Revelation, a Daleks and look what happened, but I don't know
- 59:39if it was all like that. I mean, there are some people
- 59:41that don't like revelation of the Daleks don't like that tone.
- 59:44So, But I personally I do like that tone in.
- 59:49So we'll say Eric's award you're a bit shit but you could we do
- 59:52love him anyway.
