Edmonds is pushing to make school zone speed cameras run 24/7 year-round to keep kids safer, after data shows a 50% drop in speeding since 2023 — and over 19,000 violations this summer, mostly near Chase Lake Elementary and Edmonds Woodway High. Shockingly, 76% of those drivers weren’t even from Edmonds. The city’s new plan includes tiered fines: $200 for 6–10 mph over during school hours, $290 for 11+ mph over, and $144 for 7+ mph over outside school hours.
