- 0:02Speaker 1: And there's Dan Lanning out there because no one can
- 0:04Speaker 1: yell at him. There is Lanning out on the field,
- 0:06Speaker 1: not focused on the opponent, not focused on his team,
- 0:09Speaker 1: not focused on the game. He is focused on making
- 0:12Speaker 1: Pat McAfee laugh.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Enough.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Terrible.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Terrible job by Lanning.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Dan Lanning is the Nick Saban of Mike Norvell's.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Who the hell is Dan Lanning?
- 0:23Speaker 3: Could at least give us Ben Johnson might be the
- 0:25Speaker 3: greatest coach ever.
- 0:27Speaker 4: Uh, no.
- 0:28Speaker 3: It's knock if you agree with me.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Give me the frozen tundra.
- 0:32Speaker 3: I know we're doing overreaction Mondays.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Right.
- 0:34Speaker 3: I would still be surprised. And it's Tuesday.
- 0:36Speaker 1: You got nothing right there.
- 0:38Speaker 3: It's time to get your pint.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Tomato, tomato.
- 0:41Speaker 3: There is no worse surprise than surprise Gouda.
- 0:44Speaker 1: I felt so bad for Arch Manning playing so poorly.
- 0:47Speaker 1: I was saying to myself, he doesn't have it. He's
- 0:49Speaker 1: not a Manny.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Everyone is a fraud.
- 0:51Speaker 2: This is Steve Spurrier, former Gator head ball coach, and
- 0:55Speaker 2: you've been listening to Stugatz and Company. Everyone is a fraud.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Surprise Gouda.
- 1:05Speaker 1: I'm sorry. Surprise Gouda is going to make me laugh
- 1:07Speaker 1: every time. I got to tell you, we did not
- 1:09Speaker 1: give Steve Spurrier, the old ball coach, I wish we
- 1:11Speaker 1: had that in the open. We did not give him
- 1:15Speaker 1: enough credit for landing a 14 parlay.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a 14 parlay plus 277. Good hit
- 1:22Speaker 3: by the old ball coach.
- 1:22Speaker 1: A great hit. We're going to have T-Bob here in
- 1:25Speaker 1: just a minute. We're going to have Bomani Jones at
- 1:27Speaker 1: set number two. We have an update on Mikey's bowling team.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Taylor softball season has started again. Again, T Bob going
- 1:34Speaker 1: to join us. We'll talk LSU, Mississippi. He played at LSU.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I can't wait to speak to T Bob. What happened
- 1:40Speaker 1: with your softball league? What's going on? It started again.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Basically what happened with our softball team, Stu.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:45Speaker 3: We got rid of all of the bad players on
- 1:47Speaker 3: our softball team. And we kept all the good ones.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Really?
- 1:50Speaker 3: So we've dropped Izzy Gutierrez from our softball team.
- 1:53Speaker 1: That's too bad. And by the way, I want to
- 1:55Speaker 1: remind the audience or tell the audience that Israel Gutierrez
- 1:57Speaker 1: will be back with us on Friday. Anyway, keep going here.
- 2:00Speaker 1: You dropped Izzy. Poor you.
- 2:01Speaker 3: We dropped Izzy.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Poor Izzy.
- 2:03Speaker 1: What am I talking about?
- 2:04Speaker 3: We dropped Izzy and we kept all of Izzy's friends.
- 2:07Speaker 3: So I do feel a little bit bad because I
- 2:09Speaker 3: don't think Izzy would have played.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Yep.
- 2:11Speaker 3: But we almost didn't even give him the option of
- 2:12Speaker 3: joining the softball team.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Yes.
- 2:14Speaker 3: And now me and my former roommate Ian are some
- 2:17Speaker 3: of the worst players on the team.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:18Speaker 3: And when me and Ian are some of the worst
- 2:20Speaker 3: players on the team, boy, can that team compete? And
- 2:23Speaker 3: we've run ruled this team.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I think Izzy's probably pretty happy that you guys didn't
- 2:27Speaker 1: call him. Just a guess, you know?
- 2:29Speaker 3: Yeah, but there's a little bit of left out feeling
- 2:32Speaker 3: when he sees the team's roster.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Right.
- 2:34Speaker 3: And it's all of his friends.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Yes, but his friends are good at softball and he's not.
- 2:38Speaker 1: And now he'll remain hitless for the remainder of time.
- 2:42Speaker 4: Izzy just wants to meet you guys afterwards for drinks.
- 2:44Speaker 1: That's it.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Something you would never do, Taylor. And he got so
- 2:47Speaker 4: upset about it.
- 2:48Speaker 3: So also the softball league is on Monday nights, Mikey.
- 2:51Speaker 3: And when I signed up for it, it sounded good
- 2:53Speaker 3: at the time. Signing up for Monday night football softball.
- 2:59Speaker 3: It is a disaster because I'm like DVR in the game.
- 3:01Speaker 3: But then the second the game ends, somebody's like, Hey,
- 3:03Speaker 3: did you see the chiefs are tied seven, seven and
- 3:06Speaker 3: Patrick Holmes at a rushing touchdown? I'm like, okay, well,
- 3:08Speaker 3: I don't need to go back and watch what I
- 3:10Speaker 3: just DVR.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Right.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Had you known it was Monday night, would you have
- 3:13Speaker 1: still agreed to be in the league?
- 3:14Speaker 3: If I remembered that it was Monday night football?
- 3:16Speaker 2: Yes.
- 3:16Speaker 3: Probably not. I probably would have looked for like a
- 3:18Speaker 3: Tuesday or a Wednesday league. I could give up Mac football.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I don't know. Can you? I mean, imagine.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Well, that way, if I DVR a Mac game, nobody's
- 3:27Speaker 3: spoiling that Mac game when I'm walking off the softball field.
- 3:30Speaker 3: But when you're leaving a Monday night. Everybody wants to
- 3:33Speaker 3: talk Chiefs and Broncos.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Yes.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Congratulations to Israel Gutierrez for being left off the roster.
- 3:38Speaker 1: He wants nothing to do with that dreadful softball team.
- 3:41Speaker 1: As Mikey said, just wants to meet you for wings
- 3:43Speaker 1: and a couple of beers after the game to watch
- 3:46Speaker 1: Monday Night Football. Mikey is in a bowling league, and
- 3:49Speaker 1: we discussed this a couple of weeks ago. He has
- 3:52Speaker 1: one of those guys in his bowling league, a guy
- 3:54Speaker 1: that is so good-looking that he just steals the room.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Every room he walks into, the room has been stolen
- 4:01Speaker 1: by his looks.
- 4:02Speaker 4: And so that was my room. Yeah.
- 4:04Speaker 1: And so the bowling alley was Mikey's room. And Mikey
- 4:09Speaker 1: started a bowling league, a bowling team. And one of
- 4:12Speaker 1: the guys on his team is so good looking, not
- 4:14Speaker 1: good at bowling, just good looking that he steals the
- 4:18Speaker 1: show every time. If he leaves like a 7-10 split,
- 4:21Speaker 1: everyone cheers for him. Mikey's rolling strikes and no one
- 4:23Speaker 1: says a word.
- 4:25Speaker 4: So two quick updates on that.
- 4:28Speaker 5: You said he wasn't that good at bowling. Stu, I
- 4:31Speaker 5: throw an odd ball when I bowl. I have an
- 4:35Speaker 5: odd thing I do. I don't use the thumb. I
- 4:39Speaker 5: flip it out there.
- 4:40Speaker 4: It gets this big hook. It's a whole thing, right?
- 4:42Speaker 4: It's my thing, right?
- 4:44Speaker 1: Yes.
- 4:45Speaker 5: This guy watched me last week, came in this week,
- 4:48Speaker 5: picked up a house ball, threw it exactly like I do.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Yep.
- 4:53Speaker 4: And he turned into one of the best bowlers I've
- 4:55Speaker 4: ever seen in my life.
- 4:57Speaker 1: So now he has a good bowling game to go
- 5:00Speaker 1: along with his great looks.
- 5:03Speaker 5: Not just a good bowling game.
- 5:05Speaker 4: Like, he took the unique thing.
- 5:06Speaker 5: It'd be like somebody watching Dontrell Willis' wind-up back in
- 5:10Speaker 5: the day and be like, oh, I could do that.
- 5:12Speaker 5: And then just doing it without practicing, just dropping curveballs
- 5:18Speaker 5: and 100-mile-an-hour fastballs on the black.
- 5:21Speaker 1: I gotta see what this guy looks like all right
- 5:22Speaker 1: so do i get him on the show i would like.
- 5:24Speaker 5: To close your eyes and picture the most handsome older
- 5:27Speaker 5: gentleman you've ever seen in your life that's the other
- 5:30Speaker 5: thing i thought he was like my age nope apparently
- 5:33Speaker 5: he's closer to stew gots his age but here's the
- 5:36Speaker 5: thing taylor here's the thing that like it just so
- 5:38Speaker 5: i'm i'm like hey he's on your team let's let's
- 5:41Speaker 5: try and let's try and make friends here let's try
- 5:43Speaker 5: and be Be nice to him.
- 5:46Speaker 4: So I'm talking. So, yeah. How's how's this? You know, oh,
- 5:49Speaker 4: do you have kids? Oh, you do.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Cool.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:51Speaker 4: He's like, yeah, yeah.
- 5:52Speaker 5: I got into the DEA thing after I was a
- 5:54Speaker 5: cop and that was after I left.
- 5:56Speaker 4: The minor leagues.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Oh, geez.
- 5:58Speaker 4: I'm like, what?
- 5:59Speaker 5: He was like, oh, yeah, I was a minor league player.
- 6:00Speaker 5: If I didn't hurt my back, I probably would have
- 6:02Speaker 5: made the majors. His friend pulls up his baseball card.
- 6:06Speaker 5: He's got a freaking baseball card. He was some big prospect.
- 6:12Speaker 1: He's so upset.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Mikey, can you– the next time you have bowling, can
- 6:18Speaker 3: you ask this guy for a team photo just so
- 6:20Speaker 3: we can– so you don't have to ask him awkwardly
- 6:23Speaker 3: trying to sneak a photo. You say, hey, we're getting
- 6:25Speaker 3: a team photo, and then that's just your avenue to
- 6:27Speaker 3: take a photo to then show us what he looks like.
- 6:30Speaker 4: I don't want to. I don't want to because.
- 6:32Speaker 1: No, but we need you to.
- 6:34Speaker 4: We need context.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Mikey, if I promise he won't replace you, can we
- 6:38Speaker 1: have him on the show?
- 6:41Speaker 4: You can't make that promise.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Why?
- 6:44Speaker 4: I believe you can try and make that promise right now.
- 6:47Speaker 4: I believe when you see him, I don't believe you
- 6:50Speaker 4: can make that promise.
- 6:50Speaker 1: He's irresistible.
- 6:51Speaker 2: I mean.
- 6:54Speaker 3: On the topic of good looking, have you guys seen
- 6:56Speaker 3: the Mets prospect, Mitch Voigt, who's gone viral because he
- 7:00Speaker 3: looks like an AI human being?
- 7:03Speaker 1: What?
- 7:03Speaker 4: I have not.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Google right now, Mets prospect, Mitch Voigt.
- 7:08Speaker 4: Okay.
- 7:09Speaker 3: He literally looks like you typed into AI. what does
- 7:13Speaker 3: a futuristic baseball player look like? And the best comparison
- 7:17Speaker 3: that I could come up with is it looks like
- 7:19Speaker 3: if Hallmark was doing a movie about Alex Rodriguez.
- 7:22Speaker 1: He's not real. I'm looking at him right now.
- 7:25Speaker 4: No, that's not real.
- 7:26Speaker 3: If Hallmark was doing a movie about Alex Rodriguez, this
- 7:30Speaker 3: is who they would cast as young A-Rod.
- 7:33Speaker 4: Love on the diamond.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Yes.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Not the place I thought we'd go with the Mets today,
- 7:37Speaker 1: but we'll get to that later. T-Bob is going to
- 7:41Speaker 1: join us from Barstool next. College football fans, it's time

- 9:19Speaker 2: T-Bob is with us.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Wake up Barstool. Check it out wherever you get your
- 9:23Speaker 1: podcast and every day, of course, on FS1. T-Bob joins
- 9:27Speaker 1: us right now. I was talking to you last night for,
- 9:30Speaker 1: I don't know, five to ten seconds. You were headed
- 9:32Speaker 1: to soccer practice with the kids. And I never heard back.
- 9:35Speaker 1: How'd soccer practice go?
- 9:36Speaker 2: It's a disaster. Second practice. First game was on Sunday.
- 9:43Speaker 2: My three-year-old son is just... He's just a disaster.
- 9:46Speaker 1: He's three!
- 9:47Speaker 2: He doesn't listen to coaches. He's subbing himself out the game.
- 9:52Speaker 2: On Sunday, he subbed himself out the game, just walked
- 9:55Speaker 2: off the field, turned his back to the coach so
- 9:58Speaker 2: he could throw his own ball against the wall and
- 10:00Speaker 2: catch it. He's a huge me guy, not nearly enough
- 10:04Speaker 2: of a we guy. It's pathetic. And I'm fighting everything
- 10:10Speaker 2: I have. Not to yell at him in the stands.
- 10:13Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sitting there, Bobby, get the ball. Get
- 10:15Speaker 2: the ball. Go. Go play. Listen to your coach. My
- 10:18Speaker 2: wife the whole time is like, relax, relax. You're embarrassing me.
- 10:20Speaker 2: You're embarrassing me. So I had to kind of keep it.
- 10:23Speaker 2: I had to chill out a little bit. I had to.
- 10:26Speaker 2: He's only three years old. Right, guys?
- 10:28Speaker 4: He's only three.
- 10:29Speaker 1: He's got to figure it out.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Right.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Give him time.
- 10:32Speaker 2: No. No. No. The bottom line is. Well, the problem
- 10:36Speaker 2: is he's spoiled. He doesn't listen to me in life. Right.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Like he doesn't listen to me or his mother. He's
- 10:41Speaker 2: that classic last kid. He gets everything. It's a sleep
- 10:45Speaker 2: in our bed every night. He's just he kicks me.
- 10:48Speaker 2: He comes in our bed.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:50Speaker 2: And he makes me sleep at the foot of the
- 10:52Speaker 2: bed like a dog.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Yes.
- 10:53Speaker 2: He kicks me in the back until I go down
- 10:56Speaker 2: to the foot and then he assumes my spot. Yeah.
- 10:58Speaker 2: He told me the other day when we were going
- 11:01Speaker 2: to sleep, he said, you know what? I'm the dad.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Now I'm going to play with mom. I'm going to
- 11:07Speaker 2: drink coffee. I'm going to drive and you have to
- 11:10Speaker 2: sit in the car seat.
- 11:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:11Speaker 2: He's just way too big for his britches. And he
- 11:13Speaker 2: just got into britches. He was wearing diapers like four
- 11:16Speaker 2: months ago. Right.
- 11:18Speaker 1: I got to be honest. I love this kid.
- 11:20Speaker 2: I really do. Can we get him on to break
- 11:23Speaker 2: down Ole Miss LSU?
- 11:26Speaker 1: He'll do it with confidence.
- 11:28Speaker 2: He doesn't even know his ABCs. He refuses to count
- 11:33Speaker 2: to five. And yet he thinks he knows more than
- 11:35Speaker 2: the coach. Yes. Get the hell out of here.
- 11:38Speaker 1: It's why I opted for coaching actually, because I was
- 11:40Speaker 1: away from my wife and coaching gives you a license
- 11:43Speaker 1: to yell at all the kids.
- 11:44Speaker 2: You know, I know, I know I coached my daughter's soccer.
- 11:47Speaker 2: I mean, to be honest now, I've got three seasons
- 11:50Speaker 2: under my belt as an assistant soccer, little league coach assistant,
- 11:55Speaker 2: but you know, the pink pandas back in Baton Rouge,
- 11:57Speaker 2: we took from the worst team in the league to
- 11:59Speaker 2: a championship threat and Um, my, my daughter's team last year,
- 12:03Speaker 2: we rolled through everybody. I'm hands off for now, but
- 12:08Speaker 2: I may, I may have to, we'll see. Yeah. See
- 12:10Speaker 2: where this season goes. We got a lot to work on.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Uh, enjoy the kid though. Wanting to sleep in the
- 12:16Speaker 1: bed with you and mom. Enjoy that because I'm telling
- 12:18Speaker 1: you in 15 years, that kid is not going to
- 12:20Speaker 1: want you in the house at all.
- 12:21Speaker 4: Period.
- 12:21Speaker 1: He'll be embarrassed. Yes.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Right.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Yes.
- 12:24Speaker 2: So it's funny because that's how he gets away with
- 12:26Speaker 2: it is because he's our last. Cause I got fixed.
- 12:28Speaker 2: So we know there's nothing else coming down the pipeline.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Cause nothing's coming out of the pipes. I, um, like,
- 12:35Speaker 2: like with the olders too, we were really adamant when
- 12:38Speaker 2: they would come in bed, like maybe every now and
- 12:39Speaker 2: then I'd bring it back all the time. But you know,
- 12:41Speaker 2: they share a room too, which I think helps. And
- 12:44Speaker 2: so like, he's alone. And, and to your point, Stu, yeah,
- 12:47Speaker 2: he's my last kid. Right. And you know what? This
- 12:50Speaker 2: whole idea of kids sleeping seven from the parents for
- 12:53Speaker 2: thousands of years, that was crazy. Like humans all, we
- 12:57Speaker 2: all slept together as a family unit on the ground
- 12:59Speaker 2: all together, cuddled up. So like. Sure, whatever. Who am
- 13:03Speaker 2: I to tell him that he can't abide by his
- 13:07Speaker 2: natural genetic inclinations, giving thousands of years of human evolution?
- 13:12Speaker 2: I'm fine with him sleeping between us. It makes me happy.
- 13:15Speaker 2: All right.
- 13:15Speaker 1: I'm glad we worked that out. We talked it out there, T-Bob. Listen,
- 13:18Speaker 1: is this the most excited you've been for a college
- 13:21Speaker 1: football game that you have not played in?
- 13:22Speaker 2: Oh, that's tough.
- 13:27Speaker 4: Yeah, it's tough.
- 13:28Speaker 1: I know.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Because there's been some big ones, you know.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Right.
- 13:30Speaker 2: There's been some big ones. 2019 had a bunch. Like
- 13:35Speaker 2: the 2019 Texas game to start the year. The 2019
- 13:38Speaker 2: Alabama game in Tuscaloosa is a core memory. I remember
- 13:43Speaker 2: watching that with the neighborhood dads in a backyard. Crawfish
- 13:46Speaker 2: boil going on. Everybody going crazy. That was an unreal day.
- 13:52Speaker 2: There's even like 24 Ole Miss. So it is... It's
- 13:58Speaker 2: not number one with a bullet, but like all things
- 14:01Speaker 2: in life, I tend to funnel things into tiers. Right. Right.
- 14:05Speaker 2: It's kind of an excuse to not have to like
- 14:07Speaker 2: choose number ones. Sure. And this is a tier one
- 14:12Speaker 2: fan college football.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Game without a doubt. All right. You're headed to the game.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Yes. No, I'm not actually. Oh, really? My in-laws are
- 14:19Speaker 2: coming to town.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Wow.
- 14:20Speaker 2: I know. Wow. I know.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Wow.
- 14:21Speaker 2: So I am going to be hanging out at the
- 14:24Speaker 2: house on Saturday. I love watching football with my father-in-law.
- 14:28Speaker 2: We'll probably be drinking some Johnny Walker Black Label. I'll
- 14:32Speaker 2: hopefully pick up some heaters for some late night either
- 14:35Speaker 2: celebration or– desecration. But no, I'll be consuming all the
- 14:41Speaker 2: football remotely on Saturday.
- 14:44Speaker 3: T-Bob, what is LSU walking into on Saturday in Oxford?
- 14:47Speaker 3: Do we have any idea what that scene is going
- 14:48Speaker 3: to be like?
- 14:49Speaker 1: Well, Lane does. He coached there.
- 14:53Speaker 2: I think that, so we've seen this. The Athletic had
- 14:56Speaker 2: a great piece yesterday where they looked at times in
- 14:59Speaker 2: college football where coaches have left for rival's. and then
- 15:02Speaker 2: had to come to homecomings. And it's a lot of
- 15:05Speaker 2: legendary games. I mean, it's the old pine box game
- 15:08Speaker 2: with Tuberville where, you know, he's at Ole Miss. He says,
- 15:10Speaker 2: I'm not leaving for Auburn. Shit, you're going to have
- 15:13Speaker 2: to carry me out of here in a pine box, right?
- 15:16Speaker 2: And then he leaves within the week. And then he
- 15:19Speaker 2: comes back that next year, record crowd, and Tuberville ends
- 15:22Speaker 2: up winning. And that's a theme that you saw in
- 15:25Speaker 2: that article was– When the guy comes back, it's a
- 15:29Speaker 2: record crowd. There's stuff thrown on the field. But in
- 15:34Speaker 2: all seven examples they cited, the coach making the return
- 15:39Speaker 2: ended up winning the game. But it's always in a
- 15:41Speaker 2: crazy environment. And what I would say is, like the
- 15:44Speaker 2: Japanese in World War II, the Japanese are like all
- 15:48Speaker 2: of us, only more so. This return is like the others,
- 15:52Speaker 2: only more so. So you ask me, what are they
- 15:54Speaker 2: walking into? I don't entirely know. Because we've never seen
- 15:58Speaker 2: a situation like this. I do feel confident saying that
- 16:01Speaker 2: the players will never enter a more hostile environment in
- 16:05Speaker 2: their entire career. I don't care if it's college, NFL.
- 16:08Speaker 2: There will be bigger stages. There will be bigger stakes.
- 16:12Speaker 2: And there will be bigger stakes personally, where maybe a
- 16:14Speaker 2: guy's trying to make a team in a preseason. That
- 16:17Speaker 2: will mean more to him. But you will never walk
- 16:19Speaker 2: into a fire with as much hatred and animus as
- 16:24Speaker 2: what is going to be in Oxford come this weekend.
- 16:27Speaker 5: Can you try and explain, you're a player on LSU,
- 16:31Speaker 5: you went there out of high school, you're like, hey,
- 16:33Speaker 5: this is just where I want to be. And now
- 16:35Speaker 5: you're walking into this and it's like, well, I didn't
- 16:37Speaker 5: do anything.
- 16:38Speaker 4: I didn't leave Ole Miss. What does that feel like?
- 16:42Speaker 2: Mikey, I said I wasn't going to curse.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:45Speaker 4: But you're pissing me off. You did once already.
- 16:47Speaker 2: But you're pissing me off. I'm going to have to
- 16:49Speaker 2: ask you to drop your nuts. You're a player in
- 16:52Speaker 2: LSU and I didn't ask for this? What, are you
- 16:56Speaker 2: kidding me? If I heard somebody utter those words, I
- 17:00Speaker 2: would throw them out the second story of the football loft.
- 17:03Speaker 2: You didn't ask for this. Get the hell out of here.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Because this is why you came here. To be on
- 17:09Speaker 2: this stage. You committed to LSU because you hate Ole Miss.
- 17:13Speaker 2: You want 15 million watching. And you want them to
- 17:18Speaker 2: watch you dominate your rival. You want to take LSU.
- 17:22Speaker 2: everything that is precious to Ole Miss, everything they pray
- 17:25Speaker 2: for when they lay their head down at night and
- 17:27Speaker 2: they talk to their creator, you want to take all
- 17:29Speaker 2: of that and you want to melt it in front
- 17:31Speaker 2: of their faces and pour it back down their throat
- 17:34Speaker 2: and execute them. I want to suck from the cup
- 17:37Speaker 2: of their tears. I want to watch their women and
- 17:40Speaker 2: children writhing on the ground in just a ball of
- 17:44Speaker 2: weeping and gnashing of teeth.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Get the hell out of here.
- 17:48Speaker 2: I'm ready to kick some ass if I'm walking into
- 17:51Speaker 2: that stadium Saturday.
- 17:52Speaker 1: That's right. You tell them to you, Bob.
- 17:54Speaker 4: Taylor. You're welcome.
- 17:56Speaker 3: You can't sign up to play for Lane Kiffin and
- 17:59Speaker 3: be like, whoa, why does everybody hate us all.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Of a sudden?
- 18:03Speaker 2: And to be clear, LSU is leaning into this. I mean,
- 18:05Speaker 2: Lane said, if you want to accomplish great things, you
- 18:09Speaker 2: have to become the villain in somebody else's stories. They
- 18:12Speaker 2: are leaning into this us against the world motivational technique.
- 18:16Speaker 2: And it is a very powerful technique. And I think,
- 18:20Speaker 2: I mean, I'd be interested to see what y'all think.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Because much has been made about Lane saying all the
- 18:24Speaker 2: pressure is on Ole Miss. And obviously you can just
- 18:27Speaker 2: say that I'm biased. So let me know if I'm
- 18:29Speaker 2: wrong here.
- 18:29Speaker 1: No, but I love that he did that.
- 18:30Speaker 2: I agree with Lane.
- 18:31Speaker 1: No, I love that he did that. He's saying, hey,
- 18:33Speaker 1: that team over there that I used to coach, they're really,
- 18:35Speaker 1: really talented. And now I have this new team that's
- 18:37Speaker 1: not as talented and I'm still going to beat them.
- 18:43Speaker 2: I mean, it is true, though, because the Lane move
- 18:46Speaker 2: is a move that if you're a fan of Ole
- 18:48Speaker 2: Miss has threatened your– your very identity. It's threatened your self-worth.
- 18:55Speaker 2: It's threatened your ego. Lane Kiffin came to your school
- 18:58Speaker 2: and he brought you to heights that you had never
- 19:01Speaker 2: occupied before. Everybody in college football wants to get to
- 19:05Speaker 2: the college football playoff. It is the end-all be-all. Ole Miss,
- 19:08Speaker 2: for the vast majority of its history, did not look
- 19:11Speaker 2: like a team capable of making it to that stage.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Lane got you there. And then at the time of
- 19:17Speaker 2: greatest triumph, when the relationship should have been the strongest
- 19:20Speaker 2: and the love the most secure, he left you in
- 19:23Speaker 2: the lurch. He left you for this guy who objectively
- 19:27Speaker 2: is better looking than you, but he's got drug problems,
- 19:30Speaker 2: you know? He's fumbling around. He's not showing up for
- 19:33Speaker 2: work on time. He's winning seven games. He's kind of
- 19:36Speaker 2: a hot disaster. And you're secure. You're doing well. You've
- 19:40Speaker 2: been working out. The GLPs have kicked in. You're in
- 19:43Speaker 2: the playoff. And he left you. For a 7-16. So
- 19:47Speaker 2: right there, he tells you, you are not good enough.
- 19:50Speaker 2: At your best, you will never be good enough. You
- 19:53Speaker 2: can strive, you can claw, you can do everything you want,
- 19:56Speaker 2: but you will never be good enough. That's what he
- 20:00Speaker 2: told Ole Miss and their fans, and that's what's on
- 20:03Speaker 2: the line come Saturday night. If they were to lose
- 20:06Speaker 2: this game immediately, When they have Trinidad Chambliss, Kiwan Lacey,
- 20:12Speaker 2: Pete Golding. And then they go and hire Pete Golding.
- 20:15Speaker 2: It's the ultimate nice guy fallback. Like, no, no, you
- 20:18Speaker 2: know what? The asshole, he's– oh, damn. There it goes again.
- 20:21Speaker 2: The a-hole, he's a bad guy anyway. We're going to
- 20:25Speaker 2: go with the good guy.
- 20:25Speaker 1: It's going to work.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Well, you better hope. Yes. Because if Lane wins already
- 20:30Speaker 2: here in year one, then what hope do you have
- 20:33Speaker 2: for the future? None. None.
- 20:35Speaker 3: T-Bob, did Texas win or did Ohio State lose?
- 20:37Speaker 1: Great question.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Oh, Texas won.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Texas won.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Okay. But I should be clear. I have a few
- 20:46Speaker 2: golden rules in how I interpret football, one of which,
- 20:53Speaker 2: bit of a side journey here, one of my biggest
- 20:56Speaker 2: pet peeves in sports media is we get so obsessed
- 21:01Speaker 2: with our takes, with our own predictions, that then when
- 21:06Speaker 2: we talk about games, instead of talking about the games themselves,
- 21:10Speaker 2: all we end up doing is filtering it through our
- 21:13Speaker 2: own ego, right? Was I right? Was I wrong? If
- 21:17Speaker 2: I was wrong about this team, I'm just going to
- 21:19Speaker 2: lambast them because they made me feel foolish. If I
- 21:22Speaker 2: was right about this team and said, again, them credit,
- 21:24Speaker 2: I'm going to champion with I told you so. So
- 21:26Speaker 2: that's one of my golden rules. I absolutely hate that.
- 21:29Speaker 2: I want to talk about the football itself. Yeah, I
- 21:31Speaker 2: picked Oregon to win the night. I don't care. Oklahoma
- 21:33Speaker 2: State was awesome. Oklahoma State deserves to be celebrated. And
- 21:36Speaker 2: that's the second golden rule, which is I almost always
- 21:41Speaker 2: give credit to the people that created the moment versus
- 21:46Speaker 2: those who maybe lost it. Now, you can have true
- 21:49Speaker 2: choke jobs. Like, you can have situations and opportunities where
- 21:53Speaker 2: there was just an objective, inexcusable mistake that cost you
- 21:57Speaker 2: the game. I think about, like, crystal ball in Miami
- 22:00Speaker 2: in that Georgia Tech game a couple of years back. Like,
- 22:03Speaker 2: there's no defending that. But if you look at Saturday,
- 22:06Speaker 2: how can you not give credit to Texas? I mean,
- 22:09Speaker 2: in what world was that ever going to happen down
- 22:12Speaker 2: 23-3 with how the game flow had gone up to
- 22:14Speaker 2: that point? As we enter this new... AI age where
- 22:19Speaker 2: robots and algorithms rule our existence and everything can be
- 22:23Speaker 2: mapped out. There is no code out there, no machine
- 22:27Speaker 2: learning system that could have ever taken the data we
- 22:30Speaker 2: had through three quarters and said that Texas was going
- 22:33Speaker 2: to win that football game. You know how they did
- 22:35Speaker 2: the human element.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Okay.
- 22:37Speaker 2: The ability to say, I don't give up. I'm going
- 22:39Speaker 2: to choose to believe data be damned and I'm going
- 22:42Speaker 2: to find a way. And that's what Texas did, man.
- 22:44Speaker 2: And I redove into that film. during the Monday Night
- 22:47Speaker 2: Football game because that got so boring, I dove in
- 22:50Speaker 2: for an.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Hour to relive that fourth quarter.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Wanted to learn exactly what happened. Arch Manning was fantastic.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Yes.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Those, and granted, Ohio State, They didn't. They were not
- 23:02Speaker 2: rushing him. They'd rush three. They'd rush four. They'd drop
- 23:05Speaker 2: back in zone. They were very clearly saying, we're not
- 23:08Speaker 2: going to allow you the big play. Our lead is
- 23:11Speaker 2: such that if we force you to play underneath us,
- 23:13Speaker 2: we should enforce you to execute multiple long play drives
- 23:18Speaker 2: at a high level, like no margin of error. Eventually,
- 23:21Speaker 2: you're going to mess up and you will lose the game.
- 23:23Speaker 2: And they were close.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Yes.
- 23:24Speaker 2: I mean, without either fourth down conversion, Ohio State wins
- 23:28Speaker 2: that game. So it's not a bad strategy. But Arch
- 23:32Speaker 2: rolling out, pass rush in his face, fourth and nine,
- 23:35Speaker 2: throws the opposite direction of his momentum to hit his
- 23:39Speaker 2: tight end. Yeah, there was no defender there because the
- 23:41Speaker 2: throw shouldn't have worked. It shouldn't have been possible. They
- 23:44Speaker 2: get the first down. You have the other fourth down. Again,
- 23:47Speaker 2: hand in his face. He finds it. They get the
- 23:48Speaker 2: first down. And you saw an Ohio State team get
- 23:51Speaker 2: completely exhausted. by a mixture of the Texas heat, the
- 23:56Speaker 2: pressure being applied, and then credit to that Texas defense.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Jeremiah Smith looked like Achilles for much of that game.
- 24:03Speaker 2: More demigod than man. Just slaughtering any who stood before
- 24:07Speaker 2: him left and right. But when you had to have it,
- 24:09Speaker 2: that Texas defense found ways. to make the plays, to
- 24:13Speaker 2: stop him, give the ball back to the offense, and
- 24:16Speaker 2: my God, the Ohio State defense was dead tired by
- 24:20Speaker 2: the end of that game. And the fourth down conversions
- 24:22Speaker 2: are like that. They're like body shots. It was like
- 24:24Speaker 2: a punch-drunk boxer. They had no legs by the end
- 24:27Speaker 2: of that game.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Since that defense was so tired, how do you feel
- 24:31Speaker 1: about this from a player standpoint? If Ryan Day goes
- 24:33Speaker 1: up to his defense and says, hey, momentum has shifted here.
- 24:37Speaker 1: We need to leave time on the clock to come
- 24:38Speaker 1: back and drive the ball down the field. I want
- 24:40Speaker 1: you to let him score. How do the players in
- 24:43Speaker 1: that huddle respond to Ryan Day, if indeed he says that?
- 24:46Speaker 2: You know, I don't know. I don't think it would
- 24:48Speaker 2: be the worst response because it is a strategy that
- 24:51Speaker 2: we've seen at the highest level. Yes. And with the
- 24:55Speaker 2: flow of the game, to your point, like, Ohio State's
- 24:58Speaker 2: legs were so dead that on those last couple of drives,
- 25:02Speaker 2: Arch might as well have been playing seven on seven.
- 25:05Speaker 2: And you wonder why the running game was hitting so
- 25:07Speaker 2: much because they just couldn't move anymore. Like the O-line
- 25:09Speaker 2: had clearly established superiority. And so, yeah, it would have
- 25:13Speaker 2: been a completely viable strategy to let them score there.
- 25:16Speaker 2: It would have come with critique.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Of course.
- 25:18Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Yes. Right? Because we'd be like, oh, that's crazy. You're
- 25:21Speaker 2: giving up. You could have stopped. You could have done this.
- 25:22Speaker 2: You could have done that. And to be fair, they
- 25:24Speaker 2: got him to third and goal, right? So, again, maybe
- 25:28Speaker 2: they were right to do this. But, like, I remember
- 25:30Speaker 2: as a kid, it didn't work out. But my first
- 25:33Speaker 2: example of seeing this was the first Packers– I say first,
- 25:37Speaker 2: but it was the Packers-Broncos Super Bowl with Elway versus Favre,
- 25:40Speaker 2: Packers heavy favorites. They let Terrell Davis and the Broncos
- 25:45Speaker 2: score at the end of that game to give Favre
- 25:47Speaker 2: time on the clock. But the defense is strong. It
- 25:49Speaker 2: didn't end up working out. But, like, yeah, if Mike Holmgren–
- 25:53Speaker 2: in his prime is going to make that decision.
- 25:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:55Speaker 2: I would have had no problem with Ryan day being
- 25:59Speaker 2: ballsy enough to, to take such a, um, kind of
- 26:02Speaker 2: high risk strategy.
- 26:04Speaker 1: What'd you make of, uh, Archer's apology there about the
- 26:07Speaker 1: Holly row video he saw, uh, on AI.
- 26:10Speaker 2: I mean, look, I, I'm glad that I'm glad that all,
- 26:14Speaker 2: all sides have come to a, uh, to a, to
- 26:18Speaker 2: a good conclusion here. You know, you, uh, You get
- 26:22Speaker 2: what you ask for in this life. And you got
- 26:25Speaker 2: to sleep in the bed you make.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:28Speaker 2: And we have created a world in which AI slop
- 26:34Speaker 2: and fixer algorithms. Our brains are mush. They're rotting away,
- 26:39Speaker 2: especially if you're younger. It's quite literally getting worse every
- 26:44Speaker 2: single day. Yeah. What you saw out of Arch is
- 26:47Speaker 2: a direct result of the society we've created.
- 26:50Speaker 4: So yeah, get mad at him.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Good learning lesson for him. Seemingly crazy from somebody our
- 26:55Speaker 2: age to do what he did.
- 26:57Speaker 1: It'd be like that video was really funny. You're a man.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Again, it all seems insane, but he's young. He's a
- 27:05Speaker 2: child of the brain rot generation. It seems like him
- 27:08Speaker 2: and Holly have talked it out and that's gone over positively.
- 27:10Speaker 2: So yeah. just keep it moving.
- 27:13Speaker 1: This is what the robots do right before they kill you.
- 27:15Speaker 1: They rot your brain, and then they kill you. You know?
- 27:18Speaker 1: I'm afraid. I know you're afraid. I know. You're terrified.
- 27:20Speaker 2: I mean, no, trust me, dude. We could go multiple
- 27:22Speaker 2: hours on our....
- 27:25Speaker 1: AI Doom.
- 27:27Speaker 2: They just let it... They better let me play WoW
- 27:29Speaker 2: forever November 4th before we die. Like, give me a
- 27:32Speaker 2: couple years on WoW Forever, World of Warcraft. It's finally
- 27:35Speaker 2: coming out. I've been waiting for years for it. Give
- 27:37Speaker 2: me a couple years there. Let me see my kids
- 27:39Speaker 2: get a little bit older. Let me get Bobby to
- 27:41Speaker 2: respect his coaches, and then you can kill me.
- 27:44Speaker 1: I think if they came today and killed all of us,
- 27:46Speaker 1: Mikey would be happy as a Jet fan. It's never
- 27:49Speaker 1: been better for us, right?
- 27:50Speaker 2: Want to know?
- 27:51Speaker 1: Take them today.
- 27:53Speaker 4: Life has never been better.
- 27:54Speaker 1: A couple of questions will get you out of here. Oregon,
- 27:56Speaker 1: Ohio State. Which team is in the most danger of
- 27:59Speaker 1: missing the playoff?
- 28:01Speaker 2: Oh, it's Oregon. It's Oregon with a bullet. It's Oregon
- 28:03Speaker 2: with a bullet. Yeah, I mean, Ohio State was damn
- 28:07Speaker 2: good against a very good Texas football team on the
- 28:11Speaker 2: road for three quarters. They dominated that game. Like, I
- 28:14Speaker 2: know what happened in the fourth, but Ohio State is
- 28:17Speaker 2: more the team that you saw in those first three
- 28:20Speaker 2: quarters than they are what you saw in the fourth.
- 28:22Speaker 2: They will not play in that heat again for the
- 28:25Speaker 2: rest of the season. They will be prepared to in
- 28:30Speaker 2: future situations going against an elite team about, you know,
- 28:35Speaker 2: the dangers of getting comfortable and getting complacent with a
- 28:39Speaker 2: game that you feel in hand. This is a great
- 28:41Speaker 2: learning lesson for Ohio State. And for the vast majority
- 28:43Speaker 2: of the game, I'm thinking, I already knew this Ohio
- 28:45Speaker 2: State offense was championship good. They're definitely looked apart. Jeremiah Smith, incredible.
- 28:49Speaker 2: But the defense, man, that defense looks so damn good.
- 28:53Speaker 2: To have 15 guys go to the NFL over the
- 28:55Speaker 2: last couple of years is, and yet Matt Patricia, who
- 28:58Speaker 2: I think probably his NFL experience works in their favor
- 29:01Speaker 2: in terms of turning over rosters and getting guys ready
- 29:04Speaker 2: to go. Matt Patricia's awesome. They're completely fine. Oregon, the
- 29:09Speaker 2: one question mark we had about Oregon entering the year
- 29:12Speaker 2: were the coordinator switches. Tasha Poi going to be head
- 29:15Speaker 2: coach at Cal, and maybe more importantly, Will Stein going
- 29:17Speaker 2: to be head coach at Kentucky. And I kind of
- 29:20Speaker 2: hand-waved them away thinking like, okay, but Oregon's talent is
- 29:24Speaker 2: so overwhelming that it will not matter. But now we
- 29:27Speaker 2: got Dante Moore tipping plays. The offense looking completely discombobulated.
- 29:31Speaker 2: They didn't look great against Boise. And then Oklahoma State
- 29:34Speaker 2: lose Tulsa. They turn around and they didn't just beat Oregon.
- 29:36Speaker 2: They kicked their butts. I mean, you look, dude. Oregon
- 29:41Speaker 2: basically had two defensive touchdowns and yet they still lost
- 29:45Speaker 2: by a score. They, they got out gay. They got
- 29:48Speaker 2: doubled up in the yardage two to one. They couldn't
- 29:50Speaker 2: run it. They couldn't throw it. And I don't know
- 29:52Speaker 2: if there are two more disappointing position groups in the
- 29:55Speaker 2: country right now than the Oregon defensive line. and the
- 29:59Speaker 2: Oregon offensive line. And so, yeah, I got... And last
- 30:03Speaker 2: thing here on this question. Every year, there's a handful
- 30:10Speaker 2: of can't-miss teams. And every year, about half of them miss.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Bill Connolly, he has an excellent S & P Plus system, right? Well,
- 30:20Speaker 2: he's simmed the season a million times. There were seven
- 30:23Speaker 2: teams that had a 35% chance or better of making
- 30:26Speaker 2: the playoffs. Only four of them on average end up
- 30:29Speaker 2: making it, meaning three surefire things have to fail. It
- 30:33Speaker 2: looks like Oregon's the first one of those three.
- 30:36Speaker 3: T-Bob, I think one of the most impressive results of
- 30:38Speaker 3: the weekend that nobody's really talking about is Alabama winning
- 30:42Speaker 3: at Kentucky where they outscored Kentucky 32-0 in the second half.
- 30:47Speaker 3: One of the things about this Alabama team, Ryan Coleman
- 30:50Speaker 3: Williams feels like he leaves a lot to be desired
- 30:52Speaker 3: when after his freshman year, the talks was him and
- 30:55Speaker 3: Jeremiah Smith. Is Ryan Coleman Williams just going to finish
- 30:58Speaker 3: his Alabama career as like a one-moment Hall of Fame
- 31:01Speaker 3: guy from that Georgia game?
- 31:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, he kind of looks like it now, right?
- 31:05Speaker 2: I mean, he's not wearing gloves anymore, so it appears
- 31:07Speaker 2: that he's probably still in his head about the drops
- 31:11Speaker 2: and everything. The one thing you can't have as a
- 31:13Speaker 2: receiver is drops. It gets worse when It starts to
- 31:16Speaker 2: resemble yips. But that said, I think your first point
- 31:21Speaker 2: is the more important one. Regardless of what happens to
- 31:24Speaker 2: Ryan Coleman Williams, don't lose sight of Alabama. Because that
- 31:29Speaker 2: was a really tough environment at Kroger Field. Those fans
- 31:32Speaker 2: were pumped up. Kentucky landed a few huge haymakers early.
- 31:37Speaker 2: It's 17-16 in the third, and you're like, okay, dude,
- 31:40Speaker 2: we'll stye. Like, this is all changing. And it's at
- 31:43Speaker 2: that moment when things seem the worst. that all of
- 31:45Speaker 2: a sudden Alabama comes out and they completely flip the script.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Like that's a huge credit to them. That is a
- 31:51Speaker 2: damn good football team. And their schedule is such that
- 31:55Speaker 2: while it is very tough, it's a staircase of toughness,
- 31:59Speaker 2: meaning they will have increasingly harder tests that will allow
- 32:03Speaker 2: them to round into form, to be at their best
- 32:05Speaker 2: when they need to be a team similar to that,
- 32:08Speaker 2: that had a similar weekend, Texas A & M. I'm
- 32:11Speaker 2: guilty of not paying attention to Arizona state last year,
- 32:14Speaker 2: you know, After they kind of fell out the gates,
- 32:16Speaker 2: they lose Mississippi State. Okay, Dillingham, it was fun for
- 32:18Speaker 2: one year. It's over. Arizona State looked good. They were
- 32:22Speaker 2: flying around defensively, offensively. Dillingham proving why he was once
- 32:27Speaker 2: that wunderkind at Oregon. Cutter Boley looked fantastic. They're going
- 32:32Speaker 2: toe-to-toe with A & M. But A & M says
- 32:35Speaker 2: not so fast. They end up taking over that game,
- 32:38Speaker 2: create turnovers, end up dominating the final score. So, like,
- 32:42Speaker 2: it's a weird thing. Where in both those games last week,
- 32:46Speaker 2: I emerged feeling very good about Kentucky and very good
- 32:48Speaker 2: about Arizona State and the direction they're going. But to
- 32:51Speaker 2: build on that, I'm even more impressed with what I
- 32:55Speaker 2: saw in Alabama and A & M taking what felt
- 32:58Speaker 2: to be close games and completely dominating them by the end.
- 33:01Speaker 1: You're a big Saints fan. Your dad played quarterback for
- 33:04Speaker 1: the Saints. Can you share any of the text exchange
- 33:06Speaker 1: between you and your father towards the end of that
- 33:09Speaker 1: game and into overtime?
- 33:11Speaker 2: Oh, he doesn't talk to me.
- 33:11Speaker 1: He doesn't talk to me on game day.
- 33:14Speaker 2: He's working. He's working. He does local Saints radio.
- 33:16Speaker 1: No, I know he does.
- 33:17Speaker 2: Yes. Yeah, no, that's what I'm saying. And he locks
- 33:20Speaker 2: in to the point where, like, he won't answer text,
- 33:23Speaker 2: won't answer phone. So he didn't talk to me. I
- 33:26Speaker 2: was actually a bit surprised, I guess, because he's living
- 33:29Speaker 2: in it so much. He was pretty pissed off about it.
- 33:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 33:33Speaker 2: But, like, I emerged out of that game, and my God, dude,
- 33:36Speaker 2: Tyler Shuck. Yes. I mean, have you seen the throws
- 33:39Speaker 2: that Tyler Shuck made on Sunday, dude?
- 33:42Speaker 1: Incredible.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Six big-time throws. Second in the NFL from Sunday, Josh
- 33:48Speaker 2: Allen with three. Like, the Saints— Have a franchise quarterback,
- 33:53Speaker 2: a true franchise quarterback. There's a lot to clean up,
- 33:56Speaker 2: but to go on the road, be down 21-0, force OT,
- 34:00Speaker 2: answer the Tud in overtime with the touchdown of your own. Yeah,
- 34:04Speaker 2: the two-point conversion didn't work, but I emerged feeling way
- 34:07Speaker 2: more bullish. about the New Orleans Saints in an NFC
- 34:10Speaker 2: South that features not one, not two, not three, but
- 34:14Speaker 2: four 0-1 teams after week one.
- 34:17Speaker 1: It's perfect, yes. Hell yeah.
- 34:19Speaker 3: T-Bob, when it comes to the Heisman in college football,
- 34:21Speaker 3: right now Darian Mensah is the favorite, and then you
- 34:23Speaker 3: have Jeremiah Smith and Arch Manning. Very quietly, though, in Starkville, Mississippi,
- 34:29Speaker 3: could you start to make a case for Kamario Taylor
- 34:32Speaker 3: winning the Heisman?
- 34:34Speaker 2: I mean, unfortunately... It would have to come down to wins, right?
- 34:39Speaker 2: Or I would say this. It's a mixture of two things.
- 34:41Speaker 2: A small school guy like that can win if there
- 34:46Speaker 2: is a vacuum at the top combined with them winning
- 34:51Speaker 2: more games than they should, right? Like Robert Griffin at Baylor,
- 34:54Speaker 2: I think they were like 9-3 that year maybe. But
- 34:57Speaker 2: his stats were so overwhelming that you could not go
- 35:00Speaker 2: another direction.
- 35:01Speaker 1: Right.
- 35:04Speaker 2: Lamar Jackson at Louisville. I think they might have been
- 35:06Speaker 2: like 9-3 as well. But his stats were so overwhelming
- 35:09Speaker 2: that you couldn't go any other direction. So in both cases,
- 35:12Speaker 2: they won more than they should, but not championships. But
- 35:15Speaker 2: their stats were like an outlier. Unfortunately, I don't see
- 35:18Speaker 2: those elements at play for Mississippi State. Now, they could win.
- 35:22Speaker 2: I think the first part, they'll win way more games
- 35:25Speaker 2: than we thought we would entering the season. He makes
- 35:27Speaker 2: them immediately competitive in any game. But I don't think
- 35:29Speaker 2: you're going to have a power vacuum at the top.
- 35:32Speaker 2: You already saw the Arch moment. As you alluded to,
- 35:35Speaker 2: Darian Mintz's statistics are outliers in and of themselves as
- 35:39Speaker 2: an ACC. Give credit to the ACC. Three wins over
- 35:43Speaker 2: the Big Ten last weekend. But still, I don't see
- 35:45Speaker 2: the ACC slowing Darian Mintz down with what we've seen
- 35:48Speaker 2: from him. So I could see Camario getting to New York.
- 35:51Speaker 2: I don't know that I see him lifting the trophy,
- 35:53Speaker 2: but who cares? Because Camario Taylor is awesome. And if
- 35:56Speaker 2: you haven't seen him play, you should because there's nothing
- 35:59Speaker 2: he can't do. He's massive and in short-yarded situations can
- 36:03Speaker 2: fall forward for first downs. In open field situations, he
- 36:06Speaker 2: sprints like a deer. He can outrun you. And my God,
- 36:09Speaker 2: does he put the ball on a frozen rope, dude.
- 36:12Speaker 2: It is a sight to behold.
- 36:13Speaker 1: 8 to 10 a.m. Eastern every single day. Wake up
- 36:17Speaker 1: Barstool on FS1, wherever you get your podcasts as well.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Final question. You do that show from Chicago. You're in Chicago.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Is Caleb Williams the biggest star in Chicago right now?
- 36:25Speaker 2: Yeah, without a doubt. Now he's rocking the mustache. What's
- 36:28Speaker 2: more Chicago than a sick mustache? And for all the
- 36:33Speaker 2: talk in the offseason of being, you know, can Caleb ascend?
- 36:38Speaker 2: Can he do the fundamental things right? And there was
- 36:41Speaker 2: hype growing, like through the local radio chatter, through Ben
- 36:44Speaker 2: Johnson being like, he's really taking the next step. If anything,
- 36:47Speaker 2: he's having to reel him in at times. But the
- 36:49Speaker 2: one stat that everybody focused on was completion percentage. Rightfully so.
- 36:53Speaker 2: I think it was like 60% last year, maybe 58.
- 36:55Speaker 2: He had all the spectacular plays. What would he do
- 36:57Speaker 2: with the fundamentals? Well, look at Sunday, 72% completion percentage. Now, granted,
- 37:03Speaker 2: when you run the ball like the Bears did on Sunday,
- 37:06Speaker 2: it's going to make any quarterback's life infinitely easier. But
- 37:09Speaker 2: that said, I don't know how you could still be
- 37:12Speaker 2: doubting Caleb Williams, Ben Johnson, and that Bears offense. The
- 37:16Speaker 2: defense may be a bit of a disaster. The absolute
- 37:20Speaker 2: limiting factor. But offensively, there's a reason why Ben Johnson
- 37:25Speaker 2: felt confident enough before the year to be like, yeah,
- 37:28Speaker 2: we want to set the NFL record. We want to
- 37:30Speaker 2: average 38 points a game.
- 37:31Speaker 3: T-Bob, I think you can make the argument that if
- 37:33Speaker 3: you needed three sports stars from three different sports in
- 37:37Speaker 3: one city, Chicago might be up there with just about
- 37:40Speaker 3: any city.
- 37:41Speaker 1: I think they have it, yes.
- 37:42Speaker 3: PCA in baseball, Conor Bedard in hockey.
- 37:45Speaker 2: Yep.
- 37:46Speaker 3: And Caleb Williams in the NFL. And the best part
- 37:49Speaker 3: about Chicago, they kind of all hang out with each other.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Right.
- 37:53Speaker 3: They're going to each other's games, and they're all supporting
- 37:55Speaker 3: each other.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Yes, but the Bears are going to be in Indiana soon. Yeah, Hammond, dude.
- 38:00Speaker 1: I know. It's going to be Caleb and Cignetti.
- 38:04Speaker 2: Again, I get all the cope. I understand the business
- 38:08Speaker 2: reasons why. I understand that Hammond is in Chicagoland, and
- 38:12Speaker 2: it's the same. I understand it all. It's lame as hell.
- 38:16Speaker 2: It is an awful sign of corporate dystopia that we
- 38:22Speaker 2: are going to end up with the pride and joy
- 38:24Speaker 2: of Illinois playing in Hammond, Indiana. That said, PCA, Caleb Williams,
- 38:33Speaker 2: cool as hell. I think Conor Bedard needs to do
- 38:36Speaker 2: a little bit more. to uh to break into because
- 38:39Speaker 2: I mean with PCA and Caleb you're talking about true
- 38:41Speaker 2: I mean PCA is going to win MVP oh yeah
- 38:43Speaker 2: and Caleb Williams could win MVP he will like you're
- 38:47Speaker 2: talking about probably the most powerful single city duo in
- 38:50Speaker 2: the entire country.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Yeah uh T-Bob we appreciate it man we love you
- 38:54Speaker 1: uh enjoy the game this weekend the in-laws are coming
- 38:56Speaker 1: over I'm assuming they're taking care of the they're watching
- 38:58Speaker 1: the kids you watch the game right.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Yeah we're gonna be we're gonna be I mean I
- 39:03Speaker 2: They're not the bastards taking care of the kids-in-law, but
- 39:07Speaker 2: that's fine.
- 39:08Speaker 1: I just got to say that out of the side
- 39:09Speaker 1: of your mouth.
- 39:10Speaker 3: If you say that out of the side of your mouth, T-Bob,
- 39:12Speaker 3: it doesn't count.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Yeah, it doesn't count. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:14Speaker 2: Well, look, we've been here before.
- 39:16Speaker 4: We know how to.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Handle this, okay?
- 39:18Speaker 2: Prior preparation prevents poor performance. And your boy is prepared
- 39:23Speaker 2: and locked in for Saturday night to sup from the
- 39:27Speaker 2: cup of rebel misery.
- 39:29Speaker 1: His tongue, he's sticking his tongue. Wake up Barstool, 8
- 39:33Speaker 1: to 10 a.m. Eastern on FS1 and wherever you get
- 39:37Speaker 1: your podcast.
- 39:37Speaker 2: D-Bob, we love you.
- 39:38Speaker 1: Thank you, dude.
- 39:39Speaker 2: I love you, boys.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Take it easy, guys.
