- 0:00Happy Friday morning everybody. Well, looky here.
- 0:06The herminator finally slept in. Got up, looked over nine O 4.
- 0:14Whoa, doggy. Felt like a kid again.
- 0:20I think the reason I slept in is 'cause I worked pretty hard
- 0:23yesterday. I loaded Kim's trike,
- 0:28Harley-Davidson trike. I loaded it up in the front of
- 0:31the race car trailer and then I loaded my race car up behind it.
- 0:36Middle of March, Kim and I are going to drive everything down
- 0:41to North Carolina, going to unload the race car at Nick
- 0:44Hoffman's, going to get that baby freshened up, get it ready
- 0:48for the year. And then the trike is going to
- 0:53get dropped off at Uncle Rusty's shop so Steven can go over it
- 0:58one more time before we take it to Tilly Harley-Davidson.
- 1:02And that is where the Kyle Petty charity ride.
- 1:05That's where they're going to load up all the bikes and take
- 1:08the motorcycles all the way over to San Francisco right there at
- 1:13at Sonoma. That's what I call it at the
- 1:16road course because that's where the 30th annual Kyle Petty
- 1:20Cherry Ride is going to take off and we're going to go all the
- 1:24way across the United States and we're going to end up at the
- 1:29Charlotte Motor Speedway. Morgan Petty, Kyle Petty,
- 1:34wonderful people, Richard Bostic, everybody involved in
- 1:37that. Kim and I have found this in our
- 1:40life and we love it. We help them raise about
- 1:44anywhere from 1.5 to $2,000,000 per year and Kyle and Morgan
- 1:50take that money and it goes to the Victory Junction Gang camp.
- 1:54But no, I don't feel like riding the trike all the way out there
- 1:59From ride the trike from Saint Louis all the way to Sonoma,
- 2:02then come right back by here. Well then you're not a
- 2:06motorcycle guy. Well, guess what?
- 2:07I guess I'm not. Kim and I do our share of
- 2:11riding. We put in three 4000 miles last
- 2:15year on the Kyle Petty Charity ride, so we really enjoy it.
- 2:23OK, a little heavy on the monologue today, 2 minutes and
- 2:2730 seconds got some we, we have so much news today that look at
- 2:33this, so much news today that, that I had to make notes.
- 2:39So let's get going right away. We got lots of tidbit
- 2:43information here and it's all really good stuff.
- 2:46So here we go. Did you know I just found out
- 2:51late last night that great basketball player Brad
- 2:55Daugherty, he was a NASCAR Cup owner when Ricky Stenhouse won
- 3:01the Daytona 500. So that means Brad Daugherty has
- 3:05won the Daytona 500 with driver Ricky Stenhouse.
- 3:09Well, guess who Brad Daugherty's teammate was at North Carolina
- 3:14in college basketball? That's right, Michael Jordan.
- 3:18And guess who just won the Daytona 500?
- 3:21That's right, Michael Jordan with driver Tyler Reddick.
- 3:25So 2 college basketball players at North Carolina.
- 3:30There they were, both of them standing next to each other in
- 3:32those powder blue uniforms. Brad Doherty and Michael Jordan
- 3:38have both won Daytona 5 hundreds.
- 3:40Can you believe that? I thought that was pretty
- 3:42awesome. That was just some fun info.
- 3:47Just something to get us going. OK, switching subjects, the
- 3:53Daytona 500 peaked at 9.2 million viewers, settled in
- 4:01around over like 7.4 million people watching.
- 4:06Like I said about the trucks, that's a lot of people.
- 4:11Now, there'll be some of the negative Nellies out there.
- 4:14They'll they'll say things like this.
- 4:16Herm, sorry to tell you. Too bad we had higher ratings
- 4:20years ago. There they are.
- 4:24There they are in all their glory, the negative Nellies, the
- 4:28mean people. Herman, I'm just telling you the
- 4:31way it was. And then, then they use the
- 4:33little emoji. It goes like this.
- 4:37Oh, I'd hate to be them. I'd hate to be them.
- 4:41Finding the negativity in everything.
- 4:44All right, here's my comment on that. 9.2 million peak for the
- 4:49Daytona 500. That's way better than the last
- 4:52two years. So we're gaining and we're
- 4:55looking good. That's the way it goes.
- 5:01We're better than we have been. OK, changing subjects, This
- 5:07one's going to be a long 1. Dale Junior comes out on Bless
- 5:15Your Heart with a his wife Amy. And Dale Junior says, well, are
- 5:19we going to address the elephant in the room?
- 5:22And Amy said, Yep, I had a moment.
- 5:25I don't know what I was thinking.
- 5:27Dale Junior will not drive the Daytona 500.
- 5:31Now, to me, that's not the story.
- 5:35The story is what he said later. He said I want to explain and he
- 5:39got very serious and I and I thought the reason we'll bring
- 5:42this up today because it takes a good look in the new, the new
- 5:47lifestyle of the NASCAR Cup driver.
- 5:52Very hard to do 1 offs now. In other words, very hard for
- 5:56somebody to go. I just want to run 1 Cup race
- 5:59and here's why. Here's what Dale Junior said.
- 6:03When you drive these cup cars, now all the teams that you drive
- 6:07for the big ones, the ones that now you might be able to get on
- 6:10a smaller cup team, but Dale Junior says I can't put the time
- 6:15in it that's required. I got to spend time in the SIM,
- 6:20he said. I got to spend every inch of
- 6:22that car learning all the switches.
- 6:25I got to work for all the sponsors.
- 6:28I got to do all the hospitality in the fire suits and the photo
- 6:33shoots. And he said it's not worth it.
- 6:36I I cannot do it. I thought, wow, I've never
- 6:43looked at it from that point of view.
- 6:45So to be a NASCAR Cup driver today, you just if you want to
- 6:48have a good run, you know, now you look at you look at somebody
- 6:52like a Justin Allgar. He's already in the SIM 4.
- 6:56You know, Hendrick. So he is a runner.
- 7:01In other words, Justin Allgrow. That's what he does.
- 7:04He he runs the Xfinity car for a living.
- 7:06But over here he also gets paid to do SIM and well, there's
- 7:10Louis the legend. Where the hell you been, Louis?
- 7:13Your fans been looking for you there he is, race fans.
- 7:16The king lives. So Dale Junior's right to be a
- 7:24competitive cup driver nowadays and to do it right, it's it's
- 7:29too much work. So, hey, I tried for y'all
- 7:33because he's the one. He's the one that brought her
- 7:35up. And it was national news.
- 7:37It went all over. OK, last but not least, this
- 7:43one's juicy. This one's juicy.
- 7:46I want to thank Denny Hamlin for using a meme of me.
- 7:50Yes, Denny Hamlin uses a meme of me.
- 7:54So late last night, Denny Hamlin did not know that his own team,
- 7:59Joe Gibbs Racing, is suing Chris Gebhardt.
- 8:04Chris Gebhardt worked for Joe Gibbs Racing for quite a long
- 8:07time and he was in charge. He was the competition director,
- 8:10meaning he was in charge of all competition at Joe Gibbs.
- 8:15Oh, he quit. So anyway, it says Joe Gibbs
- 8:20Racing files lawsuit against Chris Gaybhart and and Denny
- 8:24uses a meme of me like this. I got these glasses or something
- 8:29like this. Check it out.
- 8:34Go to Denny Hamlin's X social media site.
- 8:38It's funny. And I said Denny Hamlin for the
- 8:41win. Thank you, Danny for thinking of
- 8:44me and using me as a meme. It's awesome.
- 8:49So here's my opinion on that. Go to Jordan Bianchi over there
- 8:55Dirty MO Media. He's got a he he he breaks it
- 8:57down. So Jordan Bianchi is where I'm
- 9:00getting all this information from.
- 9:02Jordan explains the story. Basically I'm going to wrap it
- 9:05up in a nutshell since we're at 9 minutes, Chris Gay Bart goes
- 9:09to Joe Gibbs and says I want total control.
- 9:12Joe Gibbs and teams say no, Gay Bart says I'm leaving.
- 9:18So Joe Gibbs Racing feels he feel they, they feel allegedly,
- 9:25you know, that's that new word allegedly that way that gets me
- 9:28out of trouble. So Joe Gibbs Racing is suing
- 9:35Chris Gaybard because they feel like Chris Gaybard allegedly
- 9:40stole all their chassis setups. Allegedly.
- 9:46Good. Now, I'm not in trouble because
- 9:48I said allegedly a lot. So we'll see how this plays out.
- 9:52But I will tell you this, This is big.
- 9:56It's bigger than big and it's loud.
- 9:58It's a loud one. It's a loud lawsuit.
- 10:02And this will set a precedence. This will change crew chiefs and
- 10:07competition directors for the rest of their lives.
- 10:11Now everything see when you go to work for these teams, you,
- 10:16you sign all this, you sign non compete.
- 10:20I won't take any of this information when I leave.
- 10:23So when when you go to Joe Gibbs Racing or any of these high
- 10:26teams, they give you the computer here.
- 10:29This is the team computer. You're not allowed to take that
- 10:33information with you because it was learned with that team and
- 10:37that team was paying Chris, Chris, you know, you know how
- 10:40much money they were paying Chris Gabehart, $1 million a
- 10:44year. Damn, that's good money.
- 10:49So here's my opinion. I just gave it to you, but I
- 10:53don't think you heard me. This will set a precedence.
- 10:57Crew chiefs, competition directors.
- 11:00You better start writing that stuff down at home.
- 11:04Start writing it down at home because you can't take it with
- 11:06you digitally. I will see you all at Echo Park
- 11:12Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway.
- 11:14I'll see you there Sunday for Trackside live.
- 11:18Have a great Friday, everybody.
