- 2:58Ferguson Jackett is the pitcher.
- 3:03And here is our nice line.
- 3:32Probably like his teammates.
- 3:35And he's done a good job.
- 3:42Hum another warm-up rush here for Lek Mir.
- 3:45So he got another turn here.
- 3:48Digby at part three.
- 3:55Nobody's going to play here.
- 3:59enschmidt going to play here.
- 4:31We put 20 people here at all things our national act.
- 4:36Juan Marichal will have something new going for him today.
- 4:41You've undoubtedly heard of Medics Alert over in Sherlock, California.
- 4:46Juan has joined the group.
- 4:48Joe Gilhodge is, for instance, wearing the medallion, telling him that he has had a heart attack and how to treat him.
- 4:55Juan has a very identification that says under no circumstances should he ever be subjected to penicillin in any form.
- 5:09And we hope that that will be a good omen for Juan today.
- 5:13He's worked hard, probably the hardest working athlete of the league, in trying to get himself in condition.
- 5:20But up until now, he has been in a weakened condition and unable to really hop with the fastballs.
- 5:31Marv Rexford of 8th and 12th, 81th out of lead on Radwood City, sends us a note.
- 5:37Tell all the switchwood in San Francisco and the Southern Pacific not to fear Rex this year.
- 5:46And we vote.
- 5:48Bobby Taylor to lead off against Ferguson, who has not had a phenomenal year, but there's a lot of this year left, something like four months.
- 6:01We hope to become a 20-game winner.
- 6:04He delivers to Bobby Taylor, who takes outside.
- 6:16Two grand on the line today.
- 6:19The next delivery to Taylor is low and outside.
- 6:22Westrom is coaching at first.
- 6:24Ozzie Hurchel over at first.
- 6:33Big power for right-handed Ferguson Jenkins.
- 6:38Goes again. Bobby Taylor takes the strike. Six to 0.
- 6:46First-timer at second, Billy Williams at third.
- 6:51The 2-1 delivery.
- 6:53Taylor pops the crowd out of play on the count of what was the 2-2.
- 6:58Ladies stay here also, expecting big crowds over the weekend, and Chicago has been promised good weather.
- 7:13Jenkins fires. Taylor taps it right back to Ferguson Jenkins.
- 7:23Round one will be the giant fat.
- 7:50As you heard that in the background, the official Chicago temperature at this time is 70 degrees.
- 7:56The picture on hot is out of the way.
- 8:09Taylor was batting 263.
- 8:12But is up with an average of 287.
- 8:18Babs who have been opposing the Giants several times this year.
- 8:22Dance behind the plate. We're in number 21.
- 8:30The 0-1 delivery. Hunt takes it low at the ball for a one-on-one.
- 8:39Ball and a strike.
- 8:44Jenkins delivers again.
- 8:46Untake Lullet inside, Wall 2.
- 9:03Here's the pitch, Brontae Lowe for Wall 3.
- 9:07Jack can pass the record on 4 and 7, as we all know, his usual performance, he's far better than that.
- 9:213-1 delivery, Hunt is on there, Wall 3.
- 9:24And F3, 10 out of these, now in all Chevrolet gasoline, 3.30 in cost, and a good clean model, a significant step towards the end.
- 9:37Willie Mays at 2.72 has scored 1,859 runs, the pitch, inside of this right-handed batter for Ball 1, Willie McCovey will follow.
- 9:52Mel Ott has 1,859 runs ahead in his career, Mays not only, and passed Mel Ott today, he can also, he drives one in the right center field, James is skating over 4, and he's 4th in the game.
- 10:11Mays is staring down also on the 3,000 hit line.
- 10:15The battle will be Willie McCovey at 2.38, 48 watts, 16 on the potential, 44 runs, side of it.
- 10:27The Cubs are giving McCovey all of the 3rd base line on the infield, but Willie Williams does not shift in left.
- 10:46Jenkins ready, throws, McCovey takes low for Ball 1.
- 10:56One Ball and no strikes, the next delivery, McCovey attempts to put it down the 3rd base line and fouls it off.
- 11:12They may try it again because Kenny Henderson has been hitting.
- 11:26Jenkins throws, McCovey sends the high drive to deep left, playable for Willie Williams, the left-hander makes the pass and the batter is down.
- 11:41No runs, no hits, no errors, one runner is left on, he goes to the bottom of the first inning, with the Chicago Cubs coming to bat and there is no sore.
- 11:56It will be Don Kessinger, Glenn Beckard and Billy Williams, one at Chicago Cubs, and the Johns have hooked at 3rd, Pipe at shortstop for one eighth of a second, McCovey at 1st.
- 12:14One of the fellows that just goes on day in and day out playing super baseball is the shortstop Don Kessinger.
- 12:39Kessinger is hitting an overall 3-10, 3-14 left-handed, 2-86 right-handed, and his double play partner Glenn Beckard batting 2-95 and they represent a lot of runs.
- 12:57Ernie Bannick's frozen locker will not appear in this series, he has a foot in me.
- 13:02Jim Hickman is taking up the slack and is playing great first base.
- 13:22Here's the windup of Marischal and the pitch to Beckard, or rather to Kessinger, is inside for ball one. T-shirt day, June 13th at Channel Six Park, all youngsters 14 and under.
- 13:36T-shirt with the giant emblem on them. Marischal delivers again, Kessinger clocks it up and it's not playable and fouls back into the seat.
- 14:06Steve Flirkin behind the plate and Juan Marischal facing the switch hitting, Don Kessinger is into the windup and throws again.
- 14:16A blind and a left-hander for a great pitch. Bobby Taylor up with it, fires it back to the infield and the batter will be Glenn Beckard.
- 14:38Beckard with a batting average of 2-95. Very fine hitter on man and Kessinger conceals.
- 14:58Here's the stretch from Marischal. They deliver to Beckard, low and inside for one.
- 15:23Now on to the set position. There goes Kessinger, the ball is hit and shot, he will beat it up.
- 15:36They got Heiss going the wrong way to go over and cover second base and Heiss had to retreat to deep short, stopped the ball, kept it from going through.
- 15:46But Beckard beats it out and that's what makes the cut so tough is this hit and run combination. Here's Kessinger.
- 16:02Williams at 2-98 is having his best home run here for this stage of the campaign. 15 runs in the home run, 47 runs by the day.
- 16:14A left-handed hitter with Jim Hickman to follow. The lead at second base and at first. The guy at south figure Billy Williams is up here to sack the ball.
- 16:26Very little breeze going. Marischal comes to the set position. He delivers to Williams, the slow curve high enough side, ball wide.
- 16:40Oh that is a Heiss in double play position.
- 16:50He's not allowing it because you know where I started at first base. Joyamato Connell.
- 17:10Now the stretch, the delivery to Williams, there's a strike over the outside of the base.
- 17:31Ball and a strike.
- 17:42Maybe it's a straight away and deep in center field. Henderson deep and right. Marischal looks and throws to Billy Williams, the slow curve, but he's out now down the right field line.
- 17:57So the count is one and two.
- 18:13To get the idea that we're yelling at you, we almost are because of the acoustics here in Wrigley Field with all of these wonderful fans here. They make a lot of noise and we try to get above them.
- 18:27Marischal falls to Williams and misses inside. It's ball two and strike two. That's the pitch that he wanted for the strikeout there.
- 18:35They try to pitch Williams inside a lot, which right seems strange to do to a left-handed power hitter, but Billy likes the ball away from him.
- 18:45Out towards the middle of the plate or towards the outside corner. It's to all fields. Marischal throws. Williams swings at the line, back foul down the left field line.
- 19:07Becker is on at first. Henson is on at second. Nobody down. The jam does not get a hit in the first setting.
- 19:21Now the count's two and two. Nick Colosi takes time out and walks out and dusts off the plate.
- 19:51Kassinger and Becker both lead. Marischal looks them over, delivers to Billy Williams, swings and grounds it to McCubby.
- 19:59It's a ball appeared to hit high right in the glove, but we will leave it up to the official score to call it. There has to be an error or something.
- 20:29They give the error to William McCubby, no run by the net. And if you'd like to hear any substance of this and often call a number, call your local telephone person or phone.
- 20:40Contact your service representative for a free copy of the personal directions.
- 20:45The ball hit high right in the glove, that seems a stretch, but they've given the error to McCubby.
- 20:49And here is Jim Heckman, who has been the big surprise of the year with his big pass. McCubby defies the right hand of hitting first baseman.
- 20:59That was a long high drive to D. Mike Henson's back to the fence. Jim got the pass to the fence. They picked up one run score. Billy Williams comes around the third.
- 21:10And it's a double off the right field fence for Jim Heckman and DiGabbo leads to the next.
- 21:15Heckman hits the first pitch. A high fast ball to the outside and roaded off the right center field wall.
- 21:33Henderson bumped the wall, but he was not running into it, but he is shaken up a bit. And Trader Al Wilder will come out to check the condition of Jim Henson.
- 21:48By heck, when they're for real, there's a fellow that's bounced around for a long time until he got a job. And boy, what a job he's doing. That's his 31st run out of there.
- 22:03It's a nice double. And the batter will be right fielder Johnny Callison with runners at second and third. And Mike Leiberger throwing in the giant full fence.
- 22:17John Sano will follow as Johnny Callison stands in.
- 22:39Callison has six more runs, 27 runs counted in. Billy Williams came to third. Hickman is on at second.
- 22:53And here's the windup from the pitch for Marischal, a high curve outside for ball one.
- 23:10Made to the target. Now Marischal throws again. Callison bounced its foul over into the giant sucker.
- 23:36The official scorer has said now that they're going to check and see if Bobby Heiss or Willem McCovey gets the error. And that'll take a little while to do some checking on that.
- 23:50Ball of a strike to the left-handed batting John Callison, the giant to the left side of the infield end, the right side back.
- 23:58Callison has stand out for so many years with a Philadelphia fill. A one-on-one deliver to Callison.
- 24:07Set high in the air as it's done left field. And Bobby Taylor is coming in as Billy Williams tags. And Taylor fired right into the plate.
- 24:16And no chance for Williams to advance and Sano will be the batter.
- 24:26Bobby Taylor threw correctly to the cutoff man, Willem McCovey.
- 24:32Now they will. Now let's see. Are they going to put Sano on to get it tag high?
- 24:40Apparently they will, Fischer on Sano.
- 24:49That's a 237. 27 runs battered in. And 237 and 27 runs battered in.
- 24:58For Sano represents a bad year. He's usually around the 300 line.
- 25:05They deliver it. Sano takes outside for ball one.
- 25:17Williams is at third. Hickman is at second. McCovey 2-0.
- 25:24Marischal trying to reach back and get it. Wines and delivers to Rod. That's low for ball two and it comes out to two at all.
- 25:44Maybe they're walking Sano intentionally without making it the four wide ones.
- 25:52Rehberger throws to the bullpen. Marischal Wines. He delivers to Sano. Ron takes the foul strike.
- 25:59Williams at third. Hickman at second.
- 26:17The wind up Marischal. The next delivery to Sano. One on foul is foul. That's third base on the count of two and two.
- 26:37Sano the eminent tycoon of the pizza market here in Chicago.
- 26:52Marischal studies a long time and on his knees. Wines and throws to Sano. Inside for ball three and the count goes to three and two.
- 27:11Sano has four home runs, nine doubles, two trumps.
- 27:23Billy Williams walking down the line at third. Marischal pitching very carefully. Only one out.
- 27:30He delivers to Sano. The pitch is thrown on and founded to the right side for the right-hand pass.
- 27:35Rows him out. Billy Williams scores and Jack Hyatt will be the batter as the Cubs lead three to nothing.
- 27:52Hyatt have batted 269 overall. Only 180 with the Chicago Cubs. Total of 11 runs batted in.
- 28:09Hickman number 23 leading down the line at third base. Marischal pours it in. Hyatt tries to butt it. Lays it down perfectly.
- 28:26A perfect cut after third base line.
- 28:43Leo James with a batting average of 145. More or less the Cubs regular center fielder is the batter. Jack Hyatt batting in a run with a well-placed front on. Two outs.
- 29:00Marischal ready to pitch to James. Looks at first, throws to the plate. James slips under the left field for a great hit.
- 29:12Picked up by Bobby Taylor. Hyatt stops at second. The ninth batter up will be Ferguson Jenkins.
- 29:34Jenkins with two for 28. Runners at first and second.
- 29:53And Marischal down four to nothing. Faces his ninth man. The Cubs have five hits. The delivery. A curve ball hit down to Ron Hunt who flips to the one-eighth at second. James is fourth and the side is retired.
- 30:08What a nightmare for a great pitcher like Ron Marischal when he hasn't got his pitch set up. Four runs, five hits, one giant error, two left odds. At the end of one inning the Cubs lead point and other.
- 30:28Kenny Henderson will face Ferguson Jenkins followed by 16 and Tito for what is the Pogs for station identification. This is the Golden West Radio Network.
- 30:42Hi, I'm Terry McGutton and you can hear me every morning from 6 to 9 o'clock right here on KSF All.
- 30:57Slightly earlier start tomorrow. We'll be on the air specific day-light time at 10.55. Henderson, the giant right fielder today, ready to face Ferguson Jenkins.
- 31:19Those interweaves wind up to Jenkins and Henderson takes outside and high from all one.
- 31:32The next pitch. Henderson checks the ball hits the bat and fouls to the backstop and it's one and one.
- 31:47Now the one and one delivery. Kenny takes low and inside, ball two.
- 31:59Two one pitch. Viking pitch, a lot of back to foul.
- 32:16Ready for the two and two delivery, the pitch to Henderson. Low and outside, ball three. Change of the scoring in the first inning. Give the error to Bob Hite.
- 32:30Give William McCovey an assist. Three two pitch to Henderson and hit deep to center field, far back goes James. And you can tell that was five five baby.
- 32:40Kenny Henderson reaching for low and inside pitch and shoots it into the center field way through 400 feet away. And the Giants are on the scoreboard.
- 32:53Number nine for Ken Henderson. Six feet will be the bat. Play lower large home run for the money this week and everything.
- 33:02Get your entry in by Friday for drawings beginning on the following Friday and remember you can enter as often as you like.
- 33:16Now Dick Deets will be the batter. Check and throw to Dick. Low and inside for ball one.
- 33:37He throws again. Deets takes the strike. Nobody up, nobody up. Four to one McCovey.
- 33:51One and one pitch, a check swing and a foul back. Jack Hyatt runs out the top of the first inning.
- 34:06Deets with an average of 3.46.
- 34:30And ready for the one and two delivery. Low and inside.
- 34:37Down to two and two. Henderson home run his ninth. The Giants 65th.
- 34:48Henderson has 39 runs batted in. Two balls, two strikes for the Giants catcher. Dick Deets with Keto for one. These two follow.
- 35:03Here's the pitch by Berkley. Deets with a good eye takes low for ball three. Giants one to three and two on Henderson.
- 35:21Here's the three two delivery. Deets swings, line drive base hit in the right center field. He might try for two. He's on his way to second base and he is in with a stand up double.
- 35:36Deets tenth double, his 57th hit and Keto for one is will be the batter.
- 35:53Moetti batting 244. And the stretch, the pitch. Keto swings on a breaking pitch, strike one.
- 36:12Four to one becomes lead. Deets with his late at second. Moetti should try to move him over. Here's the delivery. Outside it presses for a ball.
- 36:24All Jenkins is disturbed. So is catcher Jack Hyatt. One ball and one strike to count. Now the one and one pitch.
- 36:48Keto checks the ball hits the batter and fouls over against the top of the stand.
- 36:54Waters has 16 runs about it. Here's the pitch. One is trying to go to right field, fouls it off. Callison is playing in very shallow right.
- 37:24Billy Williams playing well back and left. Leo James in straight away center.
- 37:37Now Fergie throws. There's a fling and a foul at the plate.
- 37:49One ball, two strikes to number 29 Moetti. Deets in harvesting position at second. Fergie ready to throw. Keto's fling may hit the left field and that may go through for two.
- 38:04Here comes Deets to score. Moetti holds with a long single and a four to two ball. Moetti down, Bob Hite will be the match.
- 38:18Three consecutive hits off Ferguson Jackson at the jazz mountain five in the ball game. 17th run batted in for Moetti. And it will be a medium activity in the Cubs full pass.
- 38:40Bob Hite hits the plate with an average of 236. Jackins throws to Hite, flings and sends a high drive to left field. Billy Williams near the wall is ready and makes the pass.
- 39:00Hite hit that ball a long way. One very shot will be the Giants batter. The Giants down by two is four to two.
- 39:17Archie Reynolds is going in the bullpen.
- 39:36There's the lead at first. The pitch to Marischal. Hit towards center field. Backhand is a backhand to center field. Beautiful shot. That Marischal almost hit one through for a base hit.
- 39:52Almost touched him Kelly off the middle with Glenn Beckert and Kessinger. I don't believe Kessinger realized he had the double play possibility at first. He was concentrating on getting the out at second. But he didn't throw the first all over. From here it appeared he could have had Marischal.
- 40:09Bobby Taylor who bounced out his first time will be the Giants batter.
- 40:22Left handed hitter against the right handed pitcher. The delivery. Taylor takes the foul skype. Well there's one place you can't hide and that's out in the middle of that time. Here's the delivery.
- 40:41Taylor takes low. When you don't have it. When you don't have the extra stuff. These big league hitters will find it out and find it out of a hurry.
- 40:51Accounts a ball of a strike to number 31 Bobby Taylor. Marischal with his jack up leads this first. Taylor hits a slow hopper to Sato. Ron takes the time for it to first Taylor's lead. And score the drive. With two runs on three hits no errors.
- 41:11And one run or less and we go to the bottom of inning number two. Top of the batting order coming up. And the score of the ball game 42 Chicago.
- 41:21Now the top of the order. We have checked with the official score and only one of the cut runs. And the first inning was an iron run. But they're really on that slow board just the same.
- 41:51Cash and cheer will be the batter.
- 42:03Cash and cheer singled hard to left field this first time. A left handed batter who can really shoot those line drives to left field.
- 42:28The pitch for Marischal a fast ball is low bow.
- 42:44Number 11 Cash and cheer. Marischal's next delivery. Cash and cheer hits a long drive to deep right. Debra Henderson is back. He has it for round number one. The wind is blowing in just enough.
- 43:00And I believe that it kept Hickman's ball from going into the deep and it kept that ball from hitting the wall. There's a 13 mile an hour wind which is a mirror breeze in Chicago.
- 43:17That doesn't appear to be a 13 mile an hour breeze but that's what they've announced. The pitch defector blow from ball one. We just checked. Roughly 12.9. 12.9. Just shut your mic and sit over there.
- 43:40Now the 1-0 delivery as Marischal touch it loose for the plate. Beckard hits a fly ball to right field routine style. Henderson has that for round number two. And Billy Williams will be the batter.
- 44:10A left handed hitter, Billy Williams.
- 44:24And the stretch for Marischal, the pitch. A let up for a foul strike. 4-2 Chicago lead.
- 44:48Now the 0-1 delivery. Billy Williams sends a routine fly ball to center field. Well he may circle out there and the starter makes the catch for the batter's side.
- 45:00No runs, no hits, no errors, nobody left on. We've gone too innings. At Wrigley Field in Chicago with the score of the ball game. The Cubs score the Giants two.
- 45:11Next weekend the Giants will be home against the St. Louis Cardinals. Mark Sillis will report the actions for inning number three.
- 45:24Ron Huddle leads off. I'm interested enough, but I didn't know something that's going to make such an interesting story here. I believe that whatever happens is going to be interesting.
- 45:40Home run story of a neighbor's city today. Very exciting. Ron Huddle appears, grounds it right back to Jenkins, knocks it down and throws the first.
- 45:55Looks like he's holding up, leaving the play. He's been coming for the first base.
- 46:05He's been trying to be hitting any first aid and the Giants dug out though. Looking to see if he can get through.
- 46:15Now Willie Mays up here, picks in fast for ball one, also hunts around half of the first half.
- 46:21From the top of the third, four to two the catch plays. Mays drives to center, hits first round after,
- 46:27and will around to the left for Willie. Here is Mr. Spiken, one more. Falling the strike to Mays. Four to two the Cubs and the Bucks.
- 46:38And Jenkins works rapidly, swinging a foul on the plate. One and two. Mays, wanting to get the double A's, is on the fast half pass.
- 46:47One and two pass to Willie. And Jenkins delivers one and two.
- 46:58On the shortstop, Cantor has it on an easy hop. Throws the first and Mays is on number two.
- 47:04I'll bring on Willie McCutty. McCutty, flies to left his first half and they put the chips on again.
- 47:21McCutty, in the third, is the only in dribble to the left of the second.
- 47:34Tied up by Jenkins, the pitch to McCutty is a strike. All at once. Jenkins, zero one set.
- 47:50Two turns and the yellows will take the lead. All two counts. Two down, face the draftee. Siam, batting on the top of the third thread and is up four to two.
- 48:05Jenkins, no two fifths. Follow the way, look out on the lower speed. Carries it on to McCutty.
- 48:15What a great day in Chicago. Beautiful weather. No two-pitch low from all one and two.
- 48:26Godfield, flying McCutty about straight away.
- 48:34Because they've seen McCutty at some point on the left field, but he did his lift on him.
- 48:38He's been hit against the seat to the left side. Infield, average, full low around to the right three. Infield is still right in second base.
- 48:48So one and two counts from McCutty. Jenkins, one-two pitch.
- 48:52Carries it on to McCutty. There goes the Jenkins. Getting the grind from the high end.
- 49:10Right, Andrew, into the line. That's the pitch to McCutty. Come on, it keeps the thread and you can tell it's a five.
- 49:17That's behind and over the blaster.
- 49:25He did it over the blaster in the right center field. McCutty gets his fifth.
- 49:34That's a four to three roll again. That's how I like the McCutty.
- 49:43That's a shot out of here on high drive over the right center field late.
- 49:50Four to three and Kenny Henderson, who homered his first time at the batter, is a bit of a Kenny.
- 49:56He relents the butt-take high for a ball one and oh.
- 50:06And Jenkins next pitch is a strike one-one.
- 50:13James in center field just sat around watching the flight of that ball.
- 50:17They knew there was a running back for it. Strike two, Leonard.
- 50:22And Henderson is upskis.
- 50:25The net ball is one and two.
- 50:30Kenny batting left-handed against the right-ended.
- 50:32That's got four under the first just getting back to two in the second half.
- 50:36One on the third outside of the curve and it's still two.
- 50:40Again, Archie Reynolds slows the bulls down four as it comes to the right hander.
- 50:55Jenkins two-two pitch.
- 50:56Lamont pops up in the center field. James with the glass cap coming in under this on the center fielder is there to make sure that's in the side of the far.
- 51:06And the third, a run on one end. No air, no one left on.
- 51:11We go to the bottom of the third to complete this last score of four to three.
- 51:16The X-minus double is first time.
- 51:26Will be up there.
- 51:29Russ passed along and knows that the two are on their head off.
- 51:33Jenkins today, going to the fill of 18.
- 51:41He won't get much as ever day from the Giants.
- 51:47They're too fast for the X-minus to go on.
- 51:50Eklund, double off the right center field wall.
- 51:54Right hand batter, Matt Jell gives him a curve that strikes on one.
- 51:58Watt, he had a four on in the first inning, only one through the burn.
- 52:03Here at second base, opening the gate. Matt Jell over the top of the fence wall is low and it's one-one.
- 52:20Ball of the strike.
- 52:22On field plays to the left for Hickman.
- 52:25Even though his drive, his first time out was in the right finish.
- 52:30Curve all fouls for the Cubs dugout.
- 52:34Fouls after third base on my ability with him.
- 52:37One-two, Matt Jell and puff, on the right hand side, eight-and-six.
- 52:43Next one will be followed by Callison and Maddow.
- 52:47Watt taking more time than he ordinarily does.
- 52:55He has been working very slowly, as you'll see.
- 53:00Eight-side off Hickman, a foul on the plate, as days one and two.
- 53:08First-side off Hickman, Watt on the throw of the deck, a ball of two strikes.
- 53:16First-side for Jell and Hickman on the batter.
- 53:19Matt Jell getting the sign for 60.
- 53:31On into the windup he goes.
- 53:33Side out meets the gap.
- 53:35Dumped out drive for a ball of two and two.
- 53:38The Cubs leading the East Individuan Baskery against one of the Mets.
- 53:42One of just four teams over 500 in the National League.
- 53:49That's the only one in the East Individuans has the Mets even 500.
- 53:54Chris and Maddie at Atlanta, McDonough's the only teams over 500 in the West Individuans.
- 53:59Matt Jell's two-two try-out on pitch, fouls at the third base, backhand at my front, long throw, and he's getting there.
- 54:08He's got the hand of the wrist, goes into the dunking hook, and Hickman with his second base.
- 54:14Backhand is that ball after the bag. His throw was in the dirt.
- 54:23They're going to give Hickman a base hit, and it's under there on the throw.
- 54:31So Hickman's his second.
- 54:33John came up with a good play to backhand the ball, and then came up with a bad throw.
- 54:39So a throw on Tiger would have had it on his first base.
- 54:43That's probably what startled Hickman. He came up with a ball on that backhand play.
- 54:51Hickman has second.
- 54:53Taliesin the batter, fly to left his first time.
- 54:56How about that batter, Ed?
- 54:58Hickman looks at second. Comes up with a curve, drives to right side, 20-20.
- 55:03Close to first. Hickman moves to third. So Taliesin drowns out.
- 55:08Hickman has moved up in the scoring move.
- 55:11A little closer to Blake.
- 55:13And he takes a base into third base.
- 55:16Now Brown is his second, his first time up.
- 55:20He got an RBI.
- 55:23He's scoring Williams from third base.
- 55:30Now he has Hickman at third. The drive to the right side of the infield end,
- 55:36part way to the left side is backed up.
- 55:39Barrett-Dell looks in his batto at third base.
- 55:44And here's Vaughn pitch to Barrett-Dell.
- 55:47Hickman is back to third, slow to first.
- 55:53And Sano is retired.
- 55:55Hickman holding his third and will ball for station identification.
- 55:58This is the Golden West Radio Network.
- 56:00This is Dan Sorkin.
- 56:02I have the daily horoscope at 9.45 a.m. and my night of news show on.
- 56:06Dan Sorkin, Dan Sorkin, Dan Sorkin.
- 56:13Jack Hyatt's the batter, Hyatt, what is it?
- 56:15Four of eight, fifth to drive and a run in his first time.
- 56:19Played a perfect bunch on the third base drive.
- 56:23Now Barrett-Dell looking in at him as Hickman.
- 56:26Played back third.
- 56:28Here's Vaughn's fifth, a strike, going one.
- 56:34Two down.
- 56:36Hickman on a third, the Cubs lead four to three.
- 56:41Four runs on Vaughn on the first inning.
- 56:42And the Giants came back with two in the second and one in the third.
- 56:45All run for the tie-up.
- 56:47Henderson and McCutty.
- 56:51Barrett-Dell over the top, that's ball outside.
- 56:54Ball one on one.
- 57:06Barrett-Dell pointing up to Hyatt's fifth.
- 57:07Hyatt's fifth, a dugout.
- 57:11Launches attention now, into playing a little different spot.
- 57:19Got him a ball and a strike.
- 57:21Played back a little deeper against Hyatt, give him more range because Jack is not at speed going down the first base line.
- 57:28Here's the one-one pitch, a five, ball two.
- 57:31Going one count to Jack's final.
- 57:40Hyatt backs away now.
- 57:43Takes a look at, see it's flowering.
- 57:45Barrett-Dell with a long look at the sign by Deek.
- 57:54Now into the windup, Hickman moves down the line up third.
- 57:58A curve ball is going Barrett-Dell, turns in this gut.
- 58:03And is wandering around out of my fishing mouth.
- 58:06I just three ball one strike count.
- 58:14That's a really steaming hole with that one.
- 58:16A three and one through Jack Hyatt.
- 58:38Barrett-Dell works three and one to the right hand batter over the top of the pit, the middle of the ball for him.
- 58:46Hyatt-Dell gives up his first base on balls and steals James, who is single-elected for a time.
- 58:52I'll tell you a little bit about it.
- 58:54Right hand to Hyatt at first and Hickman at third.
- 59:04Two down.
- 59:05Down, trailing four to three.
- 59:07We're in the bottom of the third.
- 59:09Barrett-Dell will work his way down better.
- 59:15Nice plays even with the bag at third.
- 59:19McCubby standing out first base with Hyatt for the base runner there.
- 59:24Barrett-Dell fishing from a spread.
- 59:25Fits to James.
- 59:26They take the lead three.
- 59:28And the end of the third, Hickman going to second.
- 59:33There's Hyatt.
- 59:34So, with James with that two swings and has two base hits off him.
- 59:39And now five to three, I believe, as Ferguson Jenkins will be the batter.
- 1:00:00Barrett-Dell looking in for the sign, Jenkins the right hand batter, the fish to him outside for a ball one-oh.
- 1:00:14Looks like Barrett-Dell might be able to get out of an entry and stand a bound to ball back there.
- 1:00:20So, he walks Hyatt, gives up a single loop.
- 1:00:23James has run as a first and second for the run in and two out.
- 1:00:26Jenkins swings and has a three-centus one-on-one.
- 1:00:36Hyatt-Dell is now giving up a seven-hit, two and two-thirds innings.
- 1:00:49A curve ball all the way back on the screen.
- 1:00:53One and two to Jenkins.
- 1:01:08Five to three.
- 1:01:11The club's in front.
- 1:01:12James is first.
- 1:01:13Hyatt is second.
- 1:01:14Ferguson Jenkins facing Juan Roussell.
- 1:01:17Juan goes into the stretch.
- 1:01:20Hick comes to the plate.
- 1:01:22Two and two.
- 1:01:41Roussell, excited to work two and two to Jenkins.
- 1:01:44The runner's leading.
- 1:01:46Ball three.
- 1:01:49The runner's where they're going here on the three-two-fifths to Jenkins.
- 1:02:01Hyatt is second.
- 1:02:02James is first.
- 1:02:05Five to three.
- 1:02:06The club's in front.
- 1:02:09Jenkins, a thick pass about the inning.
- 1:02:13Vaughn takes the stretch.
- 1:02:16Still looking.
- 1:02:18The runners go.
- 1:02:19The pitch is one-on-one.
- 1:02:20Hyatt and Deeson Center may just get to this one.
- 1:02:23He is there.
- 1:02:25Moving into Rack Center to make the pass from the side and retire.
- 1:02:29So it's one run on two hits, one error, and two runners left on.
- 1:02:37At the end of three, the club's five and the Giants three.
- 1:02:44The Giants double their first time, and they are going to be batting for Frank K.
- 1:02:51And I'm going to take a run at this.
- 1:02:54The chase section, 160 Cedar Street, San Carlos, California.
- 1:03:00I'm going to give the name of that unit, but not Cedar.
- 1:03:04Two grand on the line.
- 1:03:05Hickney, here he is.
- 1:03:08Bob Heisen, the first three.
- 1:03:14The kid down there, Cedar, was standing in the on-dick circle, and the seats are very close to the on-dick circle.
- 1:03:20And the kid came down and demanded that Cedar give him his autograph.
- 1:03:22But now Cedar said he couldn't do it.
- 1:03:24The game was off.
- 1:03:25It's a way of the program.
- 1:03:27Cedar liked it a lot.
- 1:03:29So he needs it.
- 1:03:33And then the Chicago fans came up with a great remark to Jack Sanford here one day.
- 1:03:38Sanford, yeah, Sanford, if you'd autograph for him, here's Jinkits pitch to D.
- 1:03:42One on a miss, one on a curve.
- 1:03:45But Sanford said, no, he wouldn't want it to get to the fire.
- 1:03:49They're sending him down the bottom.
- 1:03:56One strike pitch.
- 1:03:58Strike two, slider good, oh and two.
- 1:04:01Five to three, the Cubs in front.
- 1:04:10The O2 pitch, a five for a ball, one and two.
- 1:04:18Now field deep into the left for deep.
- 1:04:22That's fair to the best two runs, top of the fourth.
- 1:04:27Sanford gets in Jinkits, delivers to deep, he swings and this is the second up.
- 1:04:34Now going on Keto, Flay's and Keto will swing the $2,000 home run for the money.
- 1:04:38That's for Vincenzo Savio, 3454 Idaho Avenue and Santa Rosa, California.
- 1:04:53To deliver to plays, pounding ball to third, that'll have it, it's low, in by, two are down.
- 1:05:01And it's in Savoni Heights right now, where they send $2,000 away.
- 1:05:06John will pass it over to H.D. Halmas, 2404 Apache's, the lane in Modesto, California.
- 1:05:18Now Heist, the bat against Jinkits, with two down, plays is empty.
- 1:05:28There's the pitch to box, a strike, one and one.
- 1:05:39No one counts the Heist, right hand batter, right hand pitcher, curve low, both all one and one.
- 1:05:51And Jenkins works one and one to it.
- 1:05:54Fly ball hits the short left, coming in at Williams and makes the catch, a five-inch foul.
- 1:06:01The ball's in the air, the ball holds $2,100 on the line, air in the fourth, no runs, no hits, no errors, no one left off.
- 1:06:10We go to the bottom of the fourth, the score, they cut five to drive three.
- 1:06:21John Maragel loosening up, will pitch to the top of the category.
- 1:06:26Kessinger, Beckers and Williams, third time that Kessinger's led off in the game. He led off with a single in the first,
- 1:06:31a couple of under score four runs. He's wide out in the second. Maragel retires the side in order, isn't that it?
- 1:06:42Deeks is thrown to second base and Kessinger will come up here to battle it out.
- 1:07:01Kessinger getting himself set for that. A single to left, a fly to right.
- 1:07:11Deeks, number five, not playing up close to third.
- 1:07:18It takes Kessinger, one on and foul back, second one.
- 1:07:24One count to a couple short stops. The guy's turned on his shoulders or he's getting a slight muscle bowl but he's all right.
- 1:07:42He's right down. He shifts up a couple of inches on the bat. Wait, take the breaking pitch low for a ball.
- 1:07:55One on one, a ball and a strike to John Kessinger.
- 1:08:03One, five, jazz three. We're on the bottom of the fourth. Beckers and Williams are following up.
- 1:08:12One, six, five, comes away with a fat ball and hits in the area to left center field.
- 1:08:16Taylor coming over to make the catch and makes catch.
- 1:08:20Mays was there standing alongside out number one and Gwen Beckers will be the batter.
- 1:08:28Did I miss the first stop on a hit and run and fly to right?
- 1:08:39Right hand batter against Marisell with one down, base is empty.
- 1:08:48Outfield plays to the left for Beckers. Close stance right left.
- 1:08:52He takes low for a ball one-nose. Marisell, a lifetime record of 17 straight seconds to go.
- 1:09:07One-one pitch, strike, fat ball good. One throw a little harder today than we've seen before this season.
- 1:09:19He's probably getting some of his strength back. He's only gained back about four of the pounds that he lost.
- 1:09:25He's got 12. One-one pitch, foul back, 22.
- 1:09:35He's got strength to do Beckers.
- 1:09:49Getting the sign now from deep for one-two-fifth.
- 1:09:54Into the wind up he goes over the top half-bottom, pops up in the center of Mays, can't bring it under this one.
- 1:10:00He's there to make the catch and does for out number two.
- 1:10:04Beckers pops out and with two down Billy Williams will be the batter.
- 1:10:16Down bottom McCovey is the first.
- 1:10:18McCovey's throw second was dropped by a height for an error.
- 1:10:25Eventually he's over the 300 and runs for the cut.
- 1:10:30Then Williams slide out of his second shot so he's over two but has four to run.
- 1:10:38Runs over the top with a slow curve of five for a ball.
- 1:10:41That's all sudden Williams out with a slow curve each time he's come up here.
- 1:10:48They miss for that one.
- 1:10:50That's Dan's batter.
- 1:10:57That's all hit high in the air to short center of Mays.
- 1:11:02Jogging in trying to locate this one in the front.
- 1:11:04He's got it and makes the catch on the side and retires.
- 1:11:07So again as he did in the second inning.
- 1:11:10Maratel retires the first three and it's on five-oh.
- 1:11:13No runs, no errors, no one left on.
- 1:11:17After four innings, four, the Giants five and the Cubs.
- 1:11:24The Cubs five and the Giants three.
- 1:11:28Inning number five rolls around and with us the Dolphins homes of the Bucks.
- 1:11:34Water edge from the full lead from the left again today.
- 1:11:43Got a white cap running today.
- 1:11:49Here's Maratel the lead off followed by Bobby Taylor and Ron Hunt.
- 1:11:54Jogs down by two.
- 1:11:57Dickens runs and throws.
- 1:11:58Maratel takes low on a curve ball.
- 1:12:02Neither pitcher is exited enough to say that they'll be around at the finish today.
- 1:12:09Here's the delivery.
- 1:12:10Yellow inside for ball two, errors to bring Maratel.
- 1:12:19Giants have had a fair of home runs.
- 1:12:22And Jackins passes the next play into Maratel.
- 1:12:25Strike five on the inside corner.
- 1:12:34Here's the 2-1 delivery.
- 1:12:36Brown swings, Browns at wide of third, good for Saddle.
- 1:12:40Browns will first, that's two hits.
- 1:12:42And Bobby Taylor is up for play.
- 1:12:47Bobby does not have the ball out there.
- 1:13:05Maratel here, right-handed pitcher, five to three Chicago leading.
- 1:13:09Here's the next delivery.
- 1:13:11Taylor takes the call straight.
- 1:13:21And the right-hander winds and throws.
- 1:13:23Taylor swings and misses, one for an outside fastball that might have been out of the strike zone.
- 1:13:32Bobby Pons will not play for several days, even to badly sprain April.
- 1:13:37Taylor goes down swinging on a fastball.
- 1:13:39Jackins has started to bring in wind with him now.
- 1:13:42Struck out Deeks on a fastball also, so they're two outs.
- 1:13:46And Ron Huss will be the Giants' pass.
- 1:13:52It was really made for Bobby.
- 1:14:10The pitch to number 33, Ron Huss, low ball one.
- 1:14:32Next delivery, 12 strikes on the inside corner, one and one to count.
- 1:14:48And the un-pitch hunt skies it.
- 1:14:50Now, Sato and Jackins toward home plate.
- 1:15:04Moving to the bottom of the fifth inning, they score the ball game.
- 1:15:07They have five to three to go.
- 1:15:12Jim Hecklin will lead off, followed by Johnny Callahan and Ron Sato.
- 1:15:21Dixon with 2-4-2, a double high off the right center field fence, and a scratch at the infield.
- 1:15:30And Jim has scored two left.
- 1:15:35At one time, a roommate was Ron Huss on the New York Mets.
- 1:15:46Hecklin, another fellow that likes to ball out of lay from him.
- 1:15:53A bare shell into the wide one, delivering, too low for ball one.
- 1:16:05Down ball, low strike.
- 1:16:17The pitch, full curve on the inside corner, it's a strike and it's one and one.
- 1:16:26This is the only day-craft test.
- 1:16:33And we're ready for the one and one delivery.
- 1:16:37The ball shall go. Hickman takes outside, ball two.
- 1:16:51Doing well to number 28, Jim Hickman.
- 1:16:59Bare shell into the wide, up for delivery.
- 1:17:02Dixon got a left-field line at the far wall.
- 1:17:07And they had to wait for Billy Williams, the third base umpire, to make that call.
- 1:17:11Now the count two and two, the bare shell goes.
- 1:17:38Hickman changes the line to base at the left field.
- 1:17:42He's got space for three.
- 1:17:44He's a high-flying base ball at the present time.
- 1:17:47And he's feeling him for the injured Ernie Banks.
- 1:17:51Well, that's going to keep Banks on the bench for quite a while.
- 1:17:54The matter now is John Callison.
- 1:17:57There was a giant activity and the Cubs now have a hip-top one there.
- 1:18:03And the three-burner will get up the throw.
- 1:18:14Callison has tried to lift and grounded the second.
- 1:18:18The bare shell looks at Hickman and throws to Callison.
- 1:18:20The swing's unbound there.
- 1:18:22Back to the right field.
- 1:18:24Hickman on his way to third.
- 1:18:25Hickman finishes the call.
- 1:18:27And it's into the dugout.
- 1:18:30And it goes to one plate and Callison's on the way to third.
- 1:18:39And the Cubs lead six to third.
- 1:18:44They lift and enter on Kenny Hickman.
- 1:18:52And the Cubs lead six to third.
- 1:19:02And now it will be Ron Freddo.
- 1:19:17Ron Freddo will be the one.
- 1:19:22Edison's throw was into the runner and Ron Hutt did not see it.
- 1:19:26At third and it just pops right on into the dugout.
- 1:19:32Here's the catch on the way to settle.
- 1:19:33Ron takes outside from well up.
- 1:19:42Six to three in favor of Chicago.
- 1:19:44A runner at third in scoring position.
- 1:19:52Out of line at the middle of the field with Hickman to settle.
- 1:19:55There's the strike from the other end coming up.
- 1:20:08Out of the strike, nobody down.
- 1:20:09A runner at third.
- 1:20:14Ray Burger throwing in the bullpen.
- 1:20:17And Marischal delivers to the plate.
- 1:20:41He was one site.
- 1:20:47And now Marischal delivers a very determined Ron Freddo.
- 1:20:50Plans and both at the high to Ray Callison.
- 1:20:54Ron's the fill of the first base.
- 1:20:55It looks like the short guard.
- 1:20:58Now it's your turn.
- 1:20:59The batter will be Jack Niles.
- 1:21:08The tail of the run, South Marischal, has been unearned.
- 1:21:18Mayan have singled and drawn a base on thought.
- 1:21:22Lalea James will follow.
- 1:21:26Mayan beat on a bunch for a big finish last night.
- 1:21:29The pitch to Jack is high.
- 1:21:46Callison comes down the line at third.
- 1:21:49Marischal delivers to Jack Hyatt the pitch.
- 1:21:52Half-tall, a plane in a mess, but it's a ball of a strike.
- 1:21:59Alerting our network announcers.
- 1:22:02The base to break, follow with high-ups with taps at the plate.
- 1:22:22Marischal most of the time on the mound.
- 1:22:24Now in the lead lineup.
- 1:22:26Now it's the highest.
- 1:22:402-1 to number 21 Jack Hyatt, who will have a lot of work with this ball club.
- 1:22:45BMJC-Mark will divide Captain Julius until Randy Hummly.
- 1:23:00Now the lineup of one Marischal.
- 1:23:02The batter of fastball is low.
- 1:23:05The ball's pretty in the count of three and one.
- 1:23:11One has rocked only one, and it's at no strike.
- 1:23:16That's what indicates he's far from being at his top form.
- 1:23:26Marischal's playing one to Hyatt, the pitch, a plane in a mess, playing two.
- 1:23:45Very well, two strikes to number 21 Jack Hyatt.
- 1:23:54A 3-2 pitch.
- 1:23:57Hyatt, he walked high at a very low ball station tonight.
- 1:24:02It's the Golden West Randy on that.
- 1:24:04This is Jack Hyatt with important statistics.
- 1:24:06Three out of five barbershops in the greater Bay Area at Radio, West Radio, and the two of them.
- 1:24:20Leo James, who has single-quites, will be the batter.
- 1:24:25These things have two pitches, and this is from both the players.
- 1:24:30Ferguson Jenkins will follow. Hyatt is on at first, Callison at third.
- 1:24:35Not too much speed on the bases.
- 1:24:41And here's Marischal ready to face James, he throws.
- 1:24:45He takes a breaking pitch outside for ball one.
- 1:24:56One ball and no strike.
- 1:25:01Jackson plays Chicago.
- 1:25:10Marischal comes inside on, the ball is popped up and attempts a sweet play.
- 1:25:16Hyatt, though, deep grabs it, does not realize Callison has come in and does not throw the third.
- 1:25:32Ferguson Jenkins will be the batter.
- 1:25:40And Jenkins, the win.
- 1:25:51Hyatt leading it first.
- 1:25:54Callison standing on third at the first of time. Jenkins, they're getting to a fair play.
- 1:25:59And the batter decides to set her feet. Marischal throws, Tony's change,
- 1:26:03bounce up the ice, Hyatt is avoided, he's down the status of the pack.
- 1:26:09And the run will more than likely be scored as an underhand run.
- 1:26:15One run on two hits, one chance over.
- 1:26:22And it's a game that's by seven and six, Harry. They've spent a lot of games.
- 1:26:29It's a great Chicago game.
- 1:26:31Well, the drafts are quite in that dip today, but they're still very much in the band.
- 1:26:35Inbound by three.
- 1:26:37And here is Fred Thompson who seems to be the commit.
- 1:26:45Two fair and fives after the dogs and the top of the stage.
- 1:26:48And up there is other man, first base and wheel together, and that's Eric and Henderson.
- 1:26:53Man is open for jostle by the center of the first, John Deschamp, the third.
- 1:26:59Ferguson Jenkins, bounce it away.
- 1:27:01It's coming up to the second base for Hyatt.
- 1:27:06Mellor's probably would not be playing. It might be bond room over there.
- 1:27:20And then Rich calls back to the back, and he's in front of Mellor and Drew.
- 1:27:34And it's a second pass to the player, and they can pitch the crowd.
- 1:27:37This is our pass for day one.
- 1:27:43A run to the catch.
- 1:27:46And Rich just got charged with their booze.
- 1:27:51Jenkins and Mayer's are even at two and two.
- 1:28:02Jenkins and Mayer's are stepping past the foul string type, the upper net.
- 1:28:12Now, here's what they're doing, too.
- 1:28:21They're taking a big swing at the bottom.
- 1:28:24They're trying to steer the UFM with their in touch. Two to six. In fouls about 12.3.
- 1:28:34That's their turn. Mayer's 3-0 to 6.
- 1:28:39Nobody around company on 5 or 6.
- 1:28:41That's lead 6-3. Second pitch, bounce it.
- 1:28:45The UFM, 11-10, the businessmen coming down the line in first base.
- 1:28:49That's about 30 feet off the hand line.
- 1:28:53Drop number one.
- 1:28:58Ray McFadden, lines are up in the first base.
- 1:29:01And it'll remain this time around McFadden forever, the right-hander feels blue-shirt.
- 1:29:12That's the three-in-2s on the right side.
- 1:29:14The lines get on the left side, trying to come out of a normal shirt-cut position. This is foul number three, the franchise.
- 1:29:23The foul-back field, not as over-shifted as the infield.
- 1:29:27That rim's pretty much straightaway left field.
- 1:29:32James at the fairway in center.
- 1:29:34Ball is outside.
- 1:29:41Now moving a bit, target good second base now.
- 1:29:45Jenkins delivers.
- 1:29:47That's Braden, all the time, too.
- 1:29:54Kessinger, backer in the first base, connects from all the playing on the grass.
- 1:29:59For McFadden, that's the outfield back.
- 1:30:02Breaking fifth-pitch.
- 1:30:05Jenkins changed that backfield back.
- 1:30:07That's 11 yards left of the plate.
- 1:30:10That's a good move to get on McFadden.
- 1:30:14Jenkins back to the base.
- 1:30:15That's Braden, high up that first, just barely down.
- 1:30:28That's a good move to get on McFadden.
- 1:30:40Jenkins clearing ahead on that first line.
- 1:30:43Ball wide, the two-pitch, the one up.
- 1:30:45Clear that side for ball three.
- 1:30:51Jenkins, what's her fourth down on there, who's getting the foul back now, comes to cut out for McFadden.
- 1:30:57That's a good move to get on the three-pitch.
- 1:30:59Foul back to the screen.
- 1:31:07That remains at three and two.
- 1:31:23That's a good move to get on with it all.
- 1:31:27That's a foul, the three-two-pitch.
- 1:31:29Off step.
- 1:31:31The jerk center fielder, James coming in.
- 1:31:33Kessinger goes out.
- 1:31:34James, the center fielder, crawls and makes the cut.
- 1:31:36That's foul number three.
- 1:31:42That is two-hats from the base of the first base.
- 1:31:44The dodge is right over.
- 1:31:45That's Kenny Anderson.
- 1:31:47That's a good move in the second inning for the center fielder, who's going to fly to the center in the third.
- 1:31:54A-five, cutting left-handed against the right-hander Jenkins.
- 1:31:58Time's up, six to three in the top of the sixth.
- 1:32:00That was four-hundred and rest.
- 1:32:04Second, here is his line, dodge the ball wide.
- 1:32:11Down on the cut.
- 1:32:13Comes back to a normal defense foul with Henderson at the plate.
- 1:32:17Fairer with about nine-foot-well two.
- 1:32:23Jenkins stops behind on Henderson, two balls, mugs right.
- 1:32:33The DL six.
- 1:32:35Crawls, strike.
- 1:32:39The inside part of the plate.
- 1:32:42Jenkins is on the count of two and one.
- 1:32:49Out of two-one-six.
- 1:32:50One-on, left first-side field.
- 1:33:05Jenkins, saving a lot more time.
- 1:33:08Out of two-two-first to Henderson.
- 1:33:10If I am here, the short right center fielder coming over his pallets and putting up in the sun makes it back to the down-and-thrash.
- 1:33:20So Jenkins, that is the gas order in the sixth.
- 1:33:23No runs.
- 1:33:24Oh yes, no come here.
- 1:33:25No runners left behind.
- 1:33:26You end up five-and-a-half.
- 1:33:28That's six, half a-dance three.
- 1:33:35One minute down after this, the bottom of the sixth.
- 1:33:45The base, the top of the K-border.
- 1:33:47Starts back down, doesn't do, thinking about some runs back in left to the ability wins.
- 1:34:06Two-one-six, left in the fourth.
- 1:34:18One for three and a quarter run.
- 1:34:26Double-brill activity for the tenth left field full-time.
- 1:34:33That's our first set.
- 1:34:36Breaking ball with equal in there.
- 1:34:37Taylor on the right.
- 1:34:38She's like, please don't touch it.
- 1:34:40Don't be dragged off the wall.
- 1:34:42Guess you're digging around second or hole with a double.
- 1:34:45Maze backing up the play for agenda third.
- 1:34:49Taylor, let's get back to the ball.
- 1:34:53Left center field, about to get the tip of the drum on it.
- 1:34:57She gets off the drum and on it against the base.
- 1:34:59One off. Maze the back up the play, backing up the play.
- 1:35:04Those gestures, back in with a shovel.
- 1:35:08And a good batter will be the second baseman, Graham Baker.
- 1:35:11But an infield hit in the first inning.
- 1:35:13Drive to right in the second, drive to center in the fourth.
- 1:35:17James Allen, Dan Henson, the ball in.
- 1:35:23The batter now goes four, a step speed on the floorboard, six to three.
- 1:35:29And gesture is the second base with nobody out.
- 1:35:30Three-burger, sourcing in for the dash in the bullpen.
- 1:35:40Jim Dunnigan and Joe Decker, a fair of right-handers, going for the touch in the bullpen.
- 1:35:56Maris Al, looking into deep for a tie, and the gesture leads away from the second.
- 1:36:02Pitch to Decker, around the front, takes him, sides the ball on.
- 1:36:14Decker, one of the residents of the building, was losing runner to law.
- 1:36:18Extremely difficult to strike at.
- 1:36:24Jokes up on the back, closed and just interleaved striking.
- 1:36:29Again, Decker ran the first base by a fast shot, kicked it, runs in to Decker.
- 1:36:36Now picks up the ball in foul territory.
- 1:36:40Well was turned on the first base by a fast shot, still over.
- 1:36:42Decker that, and kicked it.
- 1:36:44As he was re-comparisoned with his front, he just kicked it out with his front.
- 1:36:47The road of the foul is over.
- 1:36:48He and Decker collided.
- 1:36:52Johnny Fox back to both ends, and Decker ran in to Maris Al.
- 1:36:57Attempting to feel the ball, did not appear to be that way, however.
- 1:37:03Fox hardly was on us a mile.
- 1:37:06But what he's still talking to, that's our...
- 1:37:12Frank Rehberger will be showing up.
- 1:37:22They give Decker the base hit of the ball.
- 1:37:27We'll make no further comments.
- 1:37:36So Maris Al will be fired for missing five plus innings.
- 1:37:40Nobody out here in this station.
- 1:37:42He's given out six reps, only two of which are hurt.
- 1:37:48And 11 hits. Maris Al's got nobody.
- 1:37:52Watch two.
- 1:37:57The one most loose I got, Frank Rehberger takes over.
- 1:38:09Rehberger.
- 1:38:12Not exactly the ball of fire he's lost a couple of times out.
- 1:38:19Frank, he's going to be coming around, turning in three or four impressive outings in a row.
- 1:38:26And a fifth break in five minutes.
- 1:38:30Not at all.
- 1:38:32Doing the job for Johnny Fox.
- 1:38:36Rehberger in his 20th appearance of the year.
- 1:38:39and a practice work.
- 1:38:45One down, one out, three.
- 1:38:5138 innings set, so he'll have 3,200 reps.
- 1:38:58Rehberger's average is 7.58. Frank has two sets.
- 1:39:21That's what's going to happen.
- 1:39:48And a third break in five minutes.
- 1:40:16Down for a one big hop to McKelvey.
- 1:40:44He's got a single left field in the set, Nick, and he scores three of the top six runs.
- 1:41:13Rehberger now working on the wide up with W.J. Rehberger.
- 1:41:42And a fifth break in five minutes.
- 1:42:11Two and one count on Jim Nixon.
- 1:42:40A fifth.
- 1:43:09And a sixth.
- 1:43:38Three.
- 1:44:07And a third.
- 1:44:36Rehberger's a margin.
- 1:45:05One arm.
- 1:45:34And a fourth.
- 1:46:03And a fourth.
- 1:46:32And a fourth.
- 1:47:01And a fourth.
- 1:47:30And a fifth.
- 1:47:43And a sixth.
- 1:48:12And a sixth.
- 1:48:39And a sixth.
- 1:49:09And a third.
- 1:49:29And a fourth.
- 1:49:50Rehberger in front of style on Jim.
- 1:50:07Rehberger looks to second, comes to the plate with a breaking ball outside for ball one.
- 1:50:13One ball and two strikes.
- 1:50:23Rehberger taking his time.
- 1:50:30Okay, it's the time of day now. And a one, two, three. Right up the curve and pops out on the way to the upper deck.
- 1:50:54Rehberger really touring at it, dude.
- 1:51:00Seems like it has to be changed.
- 1:51:02And right to deep left field.
- 1:51:04We're getting all of that out.
- 1:51:06And a three over the back side.
- 1:51:14Time's kind of up here.
- 1:51:16The two at Homer.
- 1:51:17The base lead Jim to three.
- 1:51:19These guys for a day-tide obligation.
- 1:51:21This is the Golden West Radio Network.
- 1:51:23I am Chairman of the Governor and you can hear me every morning from 6 until 9 o'clock right here on.
- 1:51:35This country's Jack Hyatt. He takes a fastball strike.
- 1:51:39Hyatt, he had a first inning to drive on a run.
- 1:51:44He's watching the third, watching again the fifth. Rehberger at the other side. He's as high up as Hyatt's head, but he hits the bat.
- 1:51:55The road's on fair course, right? Rehberger picks it up, throws the first base and Hyatt.
- 1:52:00He throws it out. Hyatt was behind on his back. He was thrown out the first base. He was down under his head.
- 1:52:14And Jack's trying to get out of the way, going down the road. The man rolled out the card to play.
- 1:52:19Rehberger picked it up. He's had a high touch. He must have re-bergered the throw at the first base, but he finally did.
- 1:52:24Hyatt's retired. Sorry to come to mind before they come up with four runs on four hits.
- 1:52:31Look out here, there's no letters left on.
- 1:52:35It ends a second, a couple of years, by a score of 10 to 3.
- 1:52:43This is landing number seven. Jack Hyatt was dipped and not re-odied by his former teammates, and he's just got one here.
- 1:52:55Dick Deets must be lost and thought as he comes to the plate, because I imagine that Dick is probably thinking,
- 1:53:03with Rehberger, he's probably not going to pass, but Dick is probably thinking he may get undressed with one here.
- 1:53:11He's doubled and stuck out.
- 1:53:19Here is Jenkins delivering. Strike home one.
- 1:53:23Everybody that's lifted the bat is only saying, let it be him.
- 1:53:30Getting a report on 20 May, is that better?
- 1:53:34Here's a one-side pitch. It's deep to left field down the line.
- 1:53:38Williams going into the corner and it's a bow-dart.
- 1:53:53That's a two-track top to deep. I couldn't spend much time looking down left field. It's there on there.
- 1:54:00Jack is a slightly bruised knee in a very small last duration.
- 1:54:04On the little finger of his right hand, I'm not sure he should be able to play tomorrow.
- 1:54:09Oh, two-cab to deep. Jenkins delivers just outside for a ball, one and two.
- 1:54:18Ten for the Cubs and three for the Giants.
- 1:54:25This is low for a ball, two and two.
- 1:54:32Two-side cap to deep.
- 1:54:38Deep to fifth. One on him. That's his second out.
- 1:54:44Jenkins gets his first. The second time is stuck out deep.
- 1:54:48And Pito 20, who has singled and ground it out, will be the batter.
- 1:54:52The Giants came back in the second and third inning.
- 1:54:54Got three runs up to the Cubs and scored four in the first inning.
- 1:54:58The Giants moving within a run, but then the Cubs kept going and now leads ten to three.
- 1:55:0326 to low for a ball, one and all.
- 1:55:06On the top of the seventh, up ten, Giants, three.
- 1:55:13In five, four balls, two and all.
- 1:55:22Jenkins behind the right-hand batting point.
- 1:55:24Two-oh misses a strike. Two and one.
- 1:55:29That's the only daytime action in the major.
- 1:55:37Jenkins has five ways in a two-and-two.
- 1:55:40I guess he's probably just a bit grounded out of his highest mitts.
- 1:55:44A few balls, two strikes down. Ron Bryant.
- 1:55:58Two-two pitch. Found his fouls out third.
- 1:56:05John McMahon is also throwing out third.
- 1:56:08John comes back on the active left side.
- 1:56:12He needs to get some work to stick his fouls in for him to get in.
- 1:56:16What is up one high behind the side of the high-hat is a mixed call.
- 1:56:22And two-mutter down.
- 1:56:24Now, if you reach the wrong number from your dialing, Ron, just draw the upper and explain what happens.
- 1:56:29You'll see you're not charged for the call.
- 1:56:40Two-mutter down.
- 1:56:48Tom Heist up there. Makes a strike all-up.
- 1:56:52Bob Burdick comes out in the on-deck circle. He'll bat for reaper group.
- 1:56:55Heist can get on.
- 1:56:58Jenkins next pitch is one-a-half of a Detroit south catcher as it is.
- 1:57:03So it's a first-to-side-to-side.
- 1:57:08And Jenkins is retired 15 in a row. Now, no one, no hit, no air, no one left.
- 1:57:14And as they go to the bottom of the seventh, it's a south catch, a diapthru.
- 1:57:27Leo James, a leadoff batter, has two hits and three trips.
- 1:57:31He'll be facing reaper group. Ben Ferguson Jenkins and Bob Heist.
- 1:57:38Bob and the sevens, 10 to 3, the captain's run.
- 1:57:58The guys out of the batter's box, the kids are hanging out over their wall.
- 1:58:09The high-and-low-and-flank Nick Pelosi holds up,
- 1:58:12but in till they get back inside of the stands.
- 1:58:18Right-hand Matting James against Ray Burger, who delivers the first pitch of strike.
- 1:58:23Now they come on the count.
- 1:58:31Ryan Raver, who backs away from the pitching rubber, now steps up on them.
- 1:58:36Right-hander deals off the one-strike pitch.
- 1:58:39Kurt followed away by James in a stolen boot.
- 1:58:50Mike Davidson is up throwing in the sand both right now,
- 1:58:53or left-hander just brought up from Phoenix.
- 1:59:00Wind up by Raver, which is left outside for a boil on a one-and-two.
- 1:59:16Ray Burger getting the target from Dixie as one-two pitch.
- 1:59:21Curve hits James, and he goes the first pitch.
- 1:59:27Oh, he's hit by the pitch that was a breaking pitch.
- 1:59:33Turned his back and was hitting the shoulder with him.
- 1:59:36He's at first, and Burgers and Jenkins will do about it.
- 1:59:51Jenkins, both side probably be attempting to factor-fight.
- 1:59:57James is usually at first.
- 1:59:59Jenkins turns to backstake the strike all at once.
- 2:00:04Ten runs on 13 hits to the coach, three runs on four hits for the Giants.
- 2:00:17Time flies up close to certain,
- 2:00:19McHenry ready to break from first base to throw over to first, and James gets back in.
- 2:00:25Giants have cut-fighted again tomorrow.
- 2:00:31Big lead by James as Jenkins busts them all out and strikes two.
- 2:00:40Can't find too much to love about this ballgame with the Giants behind 10-3,
- 2:00:45but you can't fault the weather.
- 2:00:50They're going to get deep into the night's weather to get season.
- 2:00:56On to it, Jenkins.
- 2:01:00James leaves it first.
- 2:01:07River comes to the plate, hits his low, draw a ball.
- 2:01:12Jenkins is firm to try to bounce with two strikes on him to fix the pitch low of the ball one.
- 2:01:24Now the ball is two strikes.
- 2:01:30McHenry leading it first.
- 2:01:33One-two pitch, high on him side with a breaking pitch, and it's two and two.
- 2:01:43Jenkins now wants to be as low as he is.
- 2:01:48James is supposed to try to bounce on this pitch.
- 2:01:57That's the end of it.
- 2:01:59He turns the bat and runs it back and on.
- 2:02:01Re-rider halfway second and sent Goeke to first.
- 2:02:05And the tackle by a fourth of a re-rider wanting to make sure what is covered at first base.
- 2:02:13Now, Charlie Fox is coming up with a passenger to do up here.
- 2:02:22Let's see what Charlie plans for this situation.
- 2:02:31He's going to call in Mike Davidson.
- 2:02:36The re-rider is excused from action.
- 2:02:40Charlie wants the left-hander, Davidson, to come in here and turn the passenger around,
- 2:02:45making that right-hander.
- 2:02:51But Davidson walks away, getting his first action.
- 2:03:11The left-hander, that player in the third, was on the verge of coming to the majors when he had to go into the fifth.
- 2:03:26That player there had difficulty hurting his arm when he got out.
- 2:03:31And now, back with the sound of that car, Michael Winn-Davidson, D-A-B-I-X-O-N.
- 2:03:48That player in the last two is sad because there's too many.
- 2:04:03And Davidson, deep and hot, standing on the mountain talking about crimes and threats and polosies, goes out to speed him up.
- 2:04:15Right-hands, new court, and true, the fighting game, how fun for the money.
- 2:04:19No one has a better chance of winning $1,000 or more than you, but too much better.
- 2:04:30Davidson, he has come up with a sinker ball.
- 2:04:35Frank Rinty taught him since he's gone to the bullpen.
- 2:04:45He fits a very well-bound opinion.
- 2:04:54And oil D, 25 years old, is actually in only one complete year.
- 2:05:11And, in the face, while I was last year, DAS was amazing. I was head for organization one time because I was last year at Amarillo in 22 games.
- 2:05:313.27, I learned, and I was in one three and lost five.
- 2:05:36I was recovering from a bad odds. He will pitch here to Don Kessinger, shortstop turning around to back right-hands.
- 2:05:50Davidson, 6'1", number at 85.
- 2:05:57James is the second for the one off.
- 2:05:59Pitch to Kessinger low for a ball-1-0.
- 2:06:05Davidson, getting his feet wet here, and this one is kind of just Charlie Fox wanting to get started so he can see how things are going in.
- 2:06:19This is a strike over the outside one-on-one.
- 2:06:22Charlie is desperate for a releaper who can come in and be a stopper. In fact, he's almost desperate for a starter who can come in and be a stopper.
- 2:06:36Out of one-on-one, the one-on-fitch curve ball loops into left field, coming out of Taylor, and lets another one of them float in and bounce away from it. James comes in to score, capture, and goes to center.
- 2:06:52And it's really just a few days in. That's better than a damn good, no way really to play that.
- 2:07:11Well, it should have been caught. It wasn't, and it goes to double. So Kessinger is the second, and Davidson will now work his run-decker. Another run-in. The run tries to re-burn it.
- 2:07:24It's an off-line drive. Taylor didn't play it very well. This is a back-of-the-flab over the center. Henderson comes in under this one, makes the catch, catches your fags, and Henderson throws the ball into third base, and Kessinger holds the step-in.
- 2:07:53Two-maner down. And Becker flies to short center. Davidson is a good day out of the inning right now. He's going to have a couple of soft-fly balls.
- 2:08:07And third base, Billy Williams, however. William Kettles today, as Davidson takes her step. Kessinger leads the second to pitch one on him, hits right on him. That one's a sinker ball.
- 2:08:31And a one-count. Davidson grabs the back of Kessinger again. Third blow, throw-ball, one-one. The Cubs have 11, and the Giants have three.
- 2:08:53Kessinger moves away from the second base, hits Williams, hangs up inside, and deep stuff. She got the inside far. Nick Pelosi said no. Two-one counts.
- 2:09:07Two-and-one, left-hander against left-hander. Mike Davidson working to Billy Williams. Mike blasts his back at second to pitch. What are you going to miss in a racing game, then? Two-and-two.
- 2:09:29There's the knee-wind on the count. Two-ball, two strikes to Billy Williams. Kessinger wanders away from second. Two-two, pitch. Found his foul into the Giants.
- 2:09:45That's a scatter from the Cubs. There's the two-and-two. 11 and three. The Cubs are in front of the Giants. We're in the bottom of the seventh base.
- 2:10:03I feel that's up for William. Into the playing base. Davidson's pitch. Found his foul again over the Giants. I got six-on-two. Right field.
- 2:10:17Let's say the two-balls, two strikes. Billy Williams facing Mike Davidson. Eight has a sign in her pocket for Mike who delivers third loop foul.
- 2:10:36They're off to fifths over into the count, doesn't it? Look at how it goes on here.
- 2:10:48I've not seen much with a four-11 to three on how good Davidson does, but it certainly is going to be interesting for Charlie Fox.
- 2:10:59I'm hoping to get a good effort out of Mike. I forget what the story is here. I'm hoping to have somebody to rely on in the future.
- 2:11:08The third ball, grab into second base. One is bad, but that was the first and the crowd is retarded. Good pitch. One run on one hit. No errors. And the runners are gone.
- 2:11:32Four innings have gone by. We'll have a chance in the outfield to help to change the part from the dash. I'll tell you about it here.
- 2:11:40Jim Hall goes in to play left field in place of Billy Williams. And Bob Burda will bet for Teddy Davis or Mike Davidson.
- 2:11:54He's got a four-point shot for the 11 to 10. The cup's leading 11 to three. And Jenkins goes to play with Burda takes the foul's site.
- 2:12:18And the lead, Burda takes low and inside. Four-one, strike one.
- 2:12:30Another one-one pitch. Burda takes a slow curve for a foul strike. Jenkins was right for the taking early in the ball game, but he is straight back.
- 2:12:41And he delivers one and two to Burda who pops it up foul out of place. Jenkins has retired 13 and 25.
- 2:13:07And a one and two windup. Burda hits it all one-half to Beckard at second base who goes to first or out number one.
- 2:13:19Bobby Taylor, who has not distinguished himself as the back or in the field today, that will be the jam batter.
- 2:13:28Shubram gasoline with F3 sense for cleaner air, better mileage. Taylor takes the call strike and it's one and one.
- 2:13:42One and one pitch. Back to Nehi on the inside corner who calls strike.
- 2:13:53Another one and two delivery. Taylor pops the foul, getting an inside pitch and fouling to left side.
- 2:13:59And already putting one and two delivery.
- 2:14:03Here's Bob Taylor and here's the pitch. Mounted wide at third base to Kessinger's truck. Just the wheel that landed the half-pitch at the first base in time.
- 2:14:26And one hut will be the jam batter.
- 2:14:43The pitch to hut is strike one fouled on the inside corner. Mike Johnson will follow.
- 2:14:56Top of the eighth inning. The pitch, track two foul on the inside. It's done leading 11 to 3.
- 2:15:13Not slated for nothing. Track three. And the crowd is prepared. 16 in a row per second. No runs, no hits, no errors, nobody left on. We go to the bottom of the eighth inning with a score of 11 to 3 in favor of the jam batter.
- 2:15:34Jim Hickman standing in.
- 2:15:42Jim Hickman winds and throws and Hickman takes high for ball one.
- 2:15:50It was a good place to look at Mike Davidson. It's also a good place for McMahon to break back into the wars. He throws high and inside for ball two.
- 2:16:05He's got the count. McMahon delivers to Hickman. There's a swing and a line drive to left field.
- 2:16:15Four bounce to top the left field at bat. Four body left. The ball was hit right at him, cat's eye, and he fell down. Just the double for Hickman. Even the time for promise, they have great teams tomorrow.
- 2:16:36They're taking up that baseball out of their systems today. Four hits for Jim Hickman. The batter will be Johnny Callis.
- 2:16:49The batter hitter. The pitch to Callis and high for ball one.
- 2:17:10Jim throws again. Callis is clean and helps it pass deep to right field.
- 2:17:30One and one to count. Callis and pitch. Callis and swings on a breaking pitch that was low outside.
- 2:17:40He makes the strike at one and two. Don McBurn ready. Now throws Callis and pitch high and away for ball two.
- 2:18:05Got a two-two delivery. High and away for a break.
- 2:18:21One-five-one-eleven to drive three. John was behind 40-nuggets the first time. Made it four to three before errors and cut-chips.
- 2:18:35Four smirnoffs shot out of the game. Great two-pitch to Callis and swung on top-up high. Playable, I believe, down the right field line and it dripped back into the seat. So, when it's grabbed it out of the seat, he receives help from the fans down there who didn't interfere with him.
- 2:18:57Callis made a fine catch and through the third page, the whole difference in the second and last battle will be there.
- 2:19:11One-two-one-one. In the sixth inning, a free-murderer, who's only just fifth of the year, may owe him a lot of money.
- 2:19:29Down, one on the eighth. McMahon delivers. That'll have swings. Now it's the right side.
- 2:19:55And McMahon throws. High outside for the ball, one-on-one.
- 2:20:13And the one-on-one stretch, the first. Saddle bounce at the hunt. Deep at third. He throws lower first, stays first.
- 2:20:29Error on Ron Hunt. The Giants' fourth error. There have been a couple that the generous Rambo Cubs scorer had
- 2:20:49caused. They sit with the Cubs. That could have been a ball the other way. Saddle is first pick but a third jack high up the ladder.
- 2:21:01McMahon delivers a high on a curve for a false strike. The O-one delivers a high outside and it's the ball for one-on-one.
- 2:21:23Now the pitch for the high up the ladder. One-round score. Saddle goes to third.
- 2:21:51Everybody's doing it. 12-3 Chicago. Leo James will be the batter.
- 2:22:15The Cubs now with 16 hits equaling their high for the year. Leo James the batter with runners at first and third.
- 2:22:31The plan ready. Throw it to James. Mike fouls. Rate of attendance 21,961. With the ladies in the house, the total is 29,125.
- 2:22:47A plan with a count of strike one. Throw. James Flakes slaps it foul. That's the third base. Diagon on down and the high field walk.
- 2:23:17Here's McMahon ready to throw. He delivers high for a ball. One ball and two strikes.
- 2:23:37The fans yelling, we want a hit. The delivery. Going outside. Ball two and strikes.
- 2:23:54Jerry Jobson throwing in the bullpen. Now the two and two deliver to Leo James. Flung on. Down and the varieties to high for one.
- 2:24:07Back to first double play. That is required. One run for Chicago on two hits. One giant error. One left on.
- 2:24:21And going to the top of the ninth inning to score the ball game is Paul Dutry Chicago.
- 2:24:37Leo DeRosha throwing in some of his shot troops. The all-around utility great ball player Paul Popovich will play shortstop Bill Gagliano of Guaranteed Cardinals.
- 2:24:51And again a wonderful Willie Smith as it hurts. The Giants will send up Frank Johnson, Willie McTavie and Ken Henn.
- 2:25:08I have put them all down to second base. Frank Johnson will back for his first time today.
- 2:25:36Here's the pitch. There's a ball strike.
- 2:25:47The next delivery. Johnson backs away from the Hummer Inn side. Jenkins has retired. 16th and second. These throws Johnson tops it up high and playable and high at looking for near the stands.
- 2:26:16And Willie McTavie will be the Giants batter.
- 2:26:27McTavie is the last thing to get a hit off Jenkins. There's a take for a foul stack. McTavie is left in the front.
- 2:26:39Here's the next delivery. McTavie swings, tops it high foul, not playable.
- 2:26:57That is two strikes. And Vic Ferguson Jackson looking in at McTavie delivers to the plate. High and outside for a ball.
- 2:27:11Here's the face. You're caught. Jenkins pours in the next delivery. McTavie checks swings and fouls it off.
- 2:27:39The next foul is going to be inspected by McTavie.
- 2:27:55Ferguson Jackson's under the wind. Up the pitch. McTavie takes high on a wave. All two in strikes.
- 2:28:08Two and two to count the delivery. McTavie checks on ball three outside.
- 2:28:24The three and two delivery. McTavie golfs and fouls back to the stands.
- 2:28:41Jackson winds and throws. McTavie walks and he becomes the first base runner since the Giants third. The battle will be Kenny Hennig.
- 2:28:56The Giants have only four hits and comes out 16. Here's the pitch. All strikes.
- 2:29:15Now, Jenkins had retired 17 on her own until McTavie got the baseball ball. The next delivery to Henderson is a roll for a ball on a count of one and one.
- 2:29:2916 will follow. Now, one and one pitch to Henderson. Roll it out of the nine ball, too.
- 2:29:55Two and one to count. To the delivery, Henderson takes ball three. Three and one.
- 2:30:16Three one stretch. The pitch. Ball four high. The Giants are runners at first and second and Deets will be the batter.
- 2:30:26Deets have doubled and struck out 20 flanks.
- 2:30:42Right-handed hitter Deets. The Tito boy is to follow.
- 2:30:52And seeing that maybe Jenkins is getting tired and not wanting to hurt his pitcher, Leo DeRosier has pulled that activity. The pitch is high for ball one.
- 2:31:14McTavie and second. Henderson at first. And the stretch, the delivery. Inside, indeed, for ball two.
- 2:31:37Coburn is throwing in the bullpen. The two old men to meet. Right side on the inside.
- 2:31:49What a great to see so many people after a ball game. We should have big crowds tomorrow and Sunday also.
- 2:31:58Sounds bigger than today, paid admission spots. The pitch. Deets checks it low for ball three.
- 2:32:15Three balls and a strike. Ferguson, Jack, and Strode to Deets. High. Ball four. Deets holding the base. And the winnings will be the batter.
- 2:32:28McTavie cuts to third. Henderson notes a second. Deets is on his first.
- 2:32:50And Paul C. rubs up on you baseball and delivers it to Ferguson, Jack. He's the out of there. He's going to run out for this big double lead of nine runs.
- 2:33:05The second run is a three-man-long one run. Six-five for ball one. One man down. Gonna have to find a ball around it here.
- 2:33:26And the ball. Low for ball two.
- 2:33:40Doing all the count. And here's the pitch. Strike by.
- 2:33:58The one is Lutonazi for a show coaching at third. Bob Hikes will be up next. Davenport has picked a bad. Now the pitch. Deedon Swing winds a foul into the left-field corner.
- 2:34:11Two balls and three strikes. Even up at two of two.
- 2:34:30Juggie Jenkins on the mound. Now the right-hander delivers two balls. There's a slow pass to Sato. The goal's the first base. And the winnings, I believe, beat it out.
- 2:34:45Trying to get the foul. David first bases. The base is going against the single. It's now four for four. And Bob Hikes will be the left.
- 2:35:01And the bases remain open.
- 2:35:26Henderson is at third. McCovey scores. The base is at second. The one is at first. And Bob Hikes, who is not against today, will be the batter.
- 2:35:45Jenkins delivers to Hikes. Ball one. Going out of bounds. Leonor Roush is not noted for his patience. He's played a long time with Jenkins. Even women ain't run lead.
- 2:36:01Here's the lineup that's pitched to Bob Hikes. Low for ball two.
- 2:36:16New and all. Now they two on the left. There's a strike line.
- 2:36:31Two on pitch to Hikes. One on. Bounded into off the ground of Schuyl. All hands are safe. Henderson scores. It's now 12 to 5. And that's what they pitched.
- 2:36:48Jimmy Davenport will be the fence hitter. Pitching coach Joe Fecker goes after the mound.
- 2:37:08And back in plays the ball. Here's the number one.
- 2:37:22Joe Fecker, a Covert from Santa Paula, California, is only in his third year of professional baseball. He's supposed to be one of the vital clogs in the Tacoma Cubs championship team in the Pacific Coast League.
- 2:37:43He was the top pitcher in the Coast League with an average of 228. He was a winning pitcher for Tacoma in the Nassadi game with a late playoff.
- 2:37:53He played in Capri-Gerrata's town Lodi in 1967, San Antonio in Lodi in 1968, and Tacoma in 1969 where he won eight and lost seven. At one appearance, one win and no losses with the Cubs.
- 2:38:15With an earned run average of three even. And now what has he done this year?
- 2:38:29He has two and all in Chicago. He's scored 24 in his third inning. Has an earned run average of 1.87. He will face Jimmy Davenport.
- 2:38:42He's batting for Don McMahon. He'll score 12 to 5. Deets that third for one of his seconds.
- 2:38:51Tito has given him two runs today.
- 2:38:55Heist it first. The pitch to Davenport. Linsen him out of there. Ball one.
- 2:39:06Davenport on 258. The next delivery. Strike call.
- 2:39:21Now, Gary is throwing in the ball in the bullpen along with Decker. Decker, rather. Excuse me. Davenport lines the base hitter. Nice feed. Two runs come into the score. Heist goes to third.
- 2:39:36The longest 12-game he's ever seen. It's now 12 to what? Is it not 12 to 7? No, 12 to 6. Two runs were in before. 12 to 7.
- 2:39:57He's not giving the Giants enough runs for the other. They've got four. Bobby Taylor will be the batter.
- 2:40:14Here's the stretch by Colburn. The pitch to Taylor. A 12-stretch. Taylor and Colburn undoubtedly faced each other last year in the post league. Now Phil Riggin is up throwing in the bullpen.
- 2:40:27One down. Runners at first at third. The stretch, the pitch. Dribble foul down the third base line for strike two.
- 2:40:47Four runs in, 12 to 7 Chicago. One out. Bobby Taylor the hitter. Davenport at first. Bob Heist at third.
- 2:40:58Another pitch to Taylor. Swung on and sliced foul to the left side.
- 2:41:23Two strikes to this left-handed batter. Colburn delivers. Taylor takes low for a ball. Account one and two.
- 2:41:37It comes back in double play position. Davenport leads. Colburn throws to Taylor. There's a swing and a bounce for short second base. Picked up by Gagley and it's over for Colburn.
- 2:41:53That almost went through the center field. Davenport safe at second. Heist scores. The Giants fifth run. And it's now 12 to 8 in favor of Chicago with Ron Huckabay.
- 2:42:09Colburn deflects it with just another. For Gagley I'm going to make the play. Ron Huck will be in for play. And Frank Johnson will follow.
- 2:42:31Colburn throws to Huck. Strike two. Frank Johnson will follow. Giants play about four. The stretch, the pitch. Huck swings, bounce at the channel.
- 2:42:53It should be the ball, Dave. And it is. Colburn's out at first base and the final score is 12 to 8. Chicago. The Giants eight runs. Seven hits, four errors.
- 2:43:08And the Chicago Cubs 12 runs. 16 hits. And no more. Chicago wins at 12 to 8. Marischal is the losing, but Sir Ferguson Jackins is the winner.
- 2:43:22And that is Ross Hodges, Ron Simmons and Bill Thompson reminding you to stay tuned for the Giants clubhouse which follows.
- 2:43:31And inviting you to be back with us tomorrow for the Giants club game from Chicago.
- 2:43:36The Giants play at 10.55 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time. Our engineers, Rick Lomali and Walt Wade. And the final score, 12 to 8 in favor of Chicago.
- 2:44:06The Giants win.
