Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville, Jaguar's fans.
- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome into Duval, daily presented by Jinjag.com and fueled by brass, tax, coffee right now.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: We are talking Jaguars and Broncos.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: What else would we be talking about?
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguars, 1-0.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: going into Denver, Mile High, taking on the Owen 1 Broncos.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: The Broncos will be heavily motivated for this game.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: They're trying to avoid starting going to.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: They're trying to get revenge for the game.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars put on them last December in Denver, 34 to 21 for the Jaguars.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: We've got matchups to watch.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really excited to talk about this game.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: Look, when two good football teams and yes, as much as we can.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: Talk about what the Broncos put on display in week one.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: The Broncos are a good football team and they are playing at home in front of what will be a Rockus crowd in their season home opener It's fun.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: It's fun to talk about these types of matchups.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited to get into it really appreciate y'all being here If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe You can also hit that high button.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: So getting it kicked off here with these matchups I've got a bunch of them to talk about but how about basal tootin?
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: first the Jaguar, first the Broncos, tacklers, first the Broncos defense.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: The Denver Broncos got run all over in week one by the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_00]: They missed 24 tackles as a defense against the Chiefs.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think they will be a lot more locked up, a lot more locked in.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they will miss that many tackles against the jackwars, but until they prove that they are ready to tackle, why not attack them with bashed two and who among running backs in the NFL was second, I believe, and Miss tackles forced in week one.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: He was running all over the Browns, making people miss, shifty, physical.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: Explosive jump cuts.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_00]: He has a lot of similarities to Kenneth Walker.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: Now, Kenneth Walker is much more experienced.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: He obviously is maybe a little bit more explosive and powerful in a short area where I think toton, even though they're the same size, I think toton has a little bit more long speed, but there's some similarities to their games.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, basal toton versus this Broncos defense, I think, is get your popcorn ready.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: That could be a lot of fun to watch.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: And I know the Broncos
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: will be motivated to come out and put on a better performance than they did.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: But Basel Tutan is not going to make it easy for them.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: And neither is the Jaguars offensive line and their tight ends as well.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: But Basel Tutan, the Jaguars lead back against the Broncos.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think is going to be very, very exciting to see how that plays out.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: Sticking on the offensive side of the ball for the Jaguars, how about Parker Washington vs everyone, not name Patrick Surtan?
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: Why do I say that?
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: Because
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars are going to try to dictate matchups.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to move Parker Washington around the field.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: He's not going to be lined up against Pat Sartan all that much.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: So he's going to get lineback.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: The Broncos will play more man coverage than the Jaguars saw last week.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: That is for sure.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to get more linebackers.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to get more safeties.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to get to Con McMillian in the slot.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to get Riley Moss.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguars are going to move him around and attack and hunt against matchups.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: Last week, Parker Washington was in the slot about 50% at wide about 44% which leaves, you know, a couple like inline type formations when the Jaguars are just in like these bunch tight formations, but he's gonna be moving around the field of tongue.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: And Parker Washington roasted the Broncos last year.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: He had like almost 150 yards in a touchdown.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think,
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to be a problem for the Broncos.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: He's a problem for everybody they face right now.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: He's an incredible player playing at a very, very high level.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just, I think, if you have a player that is your best receiver, right, but they're pretty much like a static X, that does not play into your hands against the Broncos whose best defender may their best player, Patrick Sertin.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_00]: If you have a player like Parker Washington, who moves all around the formation all the time, I think that is a much better situation for you against the Broncos than if you just had a guy that was like a static ex going up against Pratsurtan on the outside all the time.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully, Pratsurtan is on the outside, just guarding BTJ, a lot of the game.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: That's what happened last time.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: The Broncos probably would like to try to make adjustments, but it's not like, Sertan is a corner back that usually moves all around the formation.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they try a little bit of that in this one.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: But I think Parker Washington's going to have a big day.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: Jalen Waddle versus the Jaguars slot defenders.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think is also very interesting because Jalen Waddle, he's been a super productive player throughout his career.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: Like, there's no doubt about it.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: He is explosive, he's fast, he's got good hands.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: He's just a player that I think can,
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: truly shift the dynamics of a game.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: He did not do that last week.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_00]: He was targeted only three times.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: He only had one catch for two yards.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: The chiefs were incredibly physical against the Broncos receivers.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: Can the Jaguars do anything to replicate, to match that physicality that the chiefs brought?
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: to Denver last week.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: If they can, Jalen Waddle's gonna have another tough day, but I highly expect.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: Sean Payton, Davis Webb, Bonix, the entire Broncos offensive ecosystem to be trying to get Jalen Waddle going in this game.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: There's just no reason for you to spend the amount of capital that they did to acquire a Jalen Waddle and then only target him three times and not get him going.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that they're gonna try to get him going in a big way and this one early and often.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: Switching, well actually, same side of the ball, excuse me, defense, Jaguar's defense, Trevon Walker.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: Versus the entire Broncos offensive line.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: Trevon Walker last year had five pressures, three quarter back hits, and that was all while playing through injury against the Broncos and Denver last year.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: He was a game record for the Jaguars against the Broncos.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think he is in line to do that again.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: Last week he had seven pressures against the Browns and he lined up all over the defensive line.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: He lined up at defensive right tackle seven times at left-end twice, at left-out side linebacker.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_00]: 10 times, actually 19 times, at right-end twice, at right-out side linebacker, four times.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: He was all over the formation.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: His,
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: most utilized position is basically your left edge, right, going up against the right tackle.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: But they're gonna move him around, especially on past rush downs, can the Broncos match his physicality, his athleticism, Trayvon Walker and ascending player, had a sack in a half last week, along with seven pressures, was all over the place.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think Trayvon Walker versus this Broncos offensive line is fascinating.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: And then a more specific matchup, Josh Heinz Allen,
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: versus Garrett Bulls.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_00]: That is good on good.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Heinz Allen, I believe, had six pressures against the Broncos last year.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: He was doing a really good job getting into the backfield creating pressure on Bo next, making it difficult for him to find any sort of consistency and success against the Jaguars defense.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: That's really good on good.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Garrett Bulls is one of the best in the business, so his trade-in-wall walker.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, so his Josh Heinz Allen, trade-in-wall walkers up there too.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: That's just a really good on good matchup that it's just like fun to watch throughout a game.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: Switching back to the offensive side of the ball for the Jaguars, Trevor Lawrence and Liam Cohen against Vance Joseph.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: So if you're not super familiar with the Broncos, they will blitz a lot.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: They will play a lot more man coverage than what we saw last week against the Browns.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: It's a different challenge.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: They're also a more talented defense.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: The Browns have talent on defense.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: I think that the Broncos overall are a more talented defense.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: And guys that are really good at blitzing, Singleton, their linebacker, Talonohu Fonga, safety.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: You also have McMillian who can be brought on blitzers from the slot.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: Like there's a lot of different, you don't know where it's coming from.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: for the Broncos when it comes to the pressures.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: And so that makes it critical for the quarterback to understand where those guys are coming from and how do attack, right?
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: How do attack the blitzes?
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: Like if you throw into the vacated area where the blitzes coming from, a lot of times that's good, but of course the Denver Broncos know that they're gonna be trying to
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: bait you into doing that at times and trying to pick the ball off and make plays on the football.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: So it's just a fun chess match there with Trevor Lawrence and Liam Cohen vs. Vance Joseph.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, the Jack Wars offensive line versus these blitzes and versus these games that the Broncos are going to play is also absolutely critical.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: The offensive line, you have guys now, Anton Harrison was right tackle his old career in Jacksonville, prior to switching to left tackle this year.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: Cole Van Lannan was left tackle last year, switching to right tackle.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: You have Emmanuel Pregnant, a rookie.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: You have Robert Hainesy still at center, which is good, some stabilizing force there, but as your Cleveland switches over from left guard to right guard.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: So you've had musical chairs, do they have the communication, the understanding of their offensive line rules, and the chemistry to handle this blitzes effectively, right?
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: That's a big question for me.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited to see how it goes, but the Jaguars are two and a half point road dogs against the Broncos.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: I love that line.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: I love that for the Jags.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: The Jags, they beat the Broncos and Denver 34 to 20 last year.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: They beat the Browns last week, 34 to 10.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: The Broncos got obliterated by the Chiefs.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: The Jags are one nine straight regular season games when an average score of 33.6 to 14.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: I love that over at my book.

- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: How about the Jaguar's offense versus crowd noise?
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: Last week, in Jacksonville, crowd noise played to the Jaguar's advantage.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: Even though there was only 42, 45,000, whatever it was, the Jaguar's stadium was rocking on defense when the Jaguar's were out there.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: The Denver Broncos Stadium is going to be packed to the house, the home opener for the Broncos and it's going to be loud.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: There's going to be altitude.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar's offense has to keep their composure.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: Pre-snap, post-snap.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_00]: Communication is going to be difficult.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars are preparing for that.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: They prepared for it last year.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like this is the first time they've ever done it.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: But it's the first time they've done it this season.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to have to go and handle that crowd noise and that raucous environment and a Broncos football team that is highly motivated for multiple reasons.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, that's going to be a big test.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: How about Britain's strange versus the spine of the defense for the Broncos?
- 11:56[SPEAKER_00]: I mentioned Pat Sertan is the Broncos best player.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: You're not getting matched up with Britain's strange, very much.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: Britain's strange should be able to win some matchups.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: And for my money, Britain's strange should be the second most targeted receiver on the Jaguar's roster.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_00]: When the Jaguar's target Britain's strange, good things happen.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: When the Jaguar's target Parker Washington, good things happen.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_00]: Jacobi Myers is a nice player as well, right?
- 12:22[SPEAKER_00]: Like he's a good football player.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_00]: BTJ, we obviously know his vertical skill set.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: But I think the most efficient and most consistent players for the Jaguar in the receiving game are Parker Washington and Britain's strange.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'd love to see Britain's strange to get even more involved, obviously.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: He had a huge touchdown catch, which is awesome.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_00]: And the Jaguar's were just spreading the wealth last week.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_00]: that were spreading it all around.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: But I think in a close game, which this could be a closer game, right?
- 12:48[SPEAKER_00]: Then what you saw last week definitely should be closer than what you saw last week.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: Britain's strange could be even more critical for the Jaguars.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he can have some match-up advantages against the spine of the Broncos defense, which is like the linebackers, safety, etc.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: In this one.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm definitely keeping an eye on Britain's strange.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'm also keeping an eye on his tight-end room mates, Nate Borgerture and Quentin Morris versus those Broncos edge players and linebackers.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: And when I say edge, I'm not just talking about the defensive end outside linebacker types.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm talking about they'll have guys crowded up in the box.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_00]: They'll have their nickel on the edge.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_00]: They're out of the safety on the edge, linebackers on the edge.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: Can they do the job that they did last week in blocking for the Jaguars run game and blocking for the Jaguars screen game?
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: That's another critical point here in matchups.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_00]: Like, the Jaguar's got their screen game going both.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_00]: The running back screen game and the YGC screen game last week.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_00]: They struggle with that in 2025.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_00]: neighborhood culture, Quentin Morris, they're a big piece to that, but so are the receivers who are blocking their butt off last week against the Cleveland Browns.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_00]: If you can bring your auxiliary blockers, which is again, your tight ends and receivers, if they can do a really good job blocking, that is going to make offense a lot easier for the Jaguars.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_00]: It is going to make Trevor Lawrence's life a lot easier, and so that's a big time match up right there.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_00]: And my final one here.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_00]: How about Emmanuel Pregnant versus Zach Allen?
- 14:25[SPEAKER_00]: Zach Allen is one of the most productive, you know.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_00]: five to three tech type players, three to five, I should probably say he's inside a little bit more than he is outside, but he's gonna be lined up against Emmanuel Pregnant a lot.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_00]: He primarily plays on the defensive right side, offensive left side, Emmanuel Pregnant, a rookie left guard who is as physical as all get out and had a really good first game, especially in past protection for the Jaguars, but Zach Allen's one of the most productive interior rushers in football from that spot.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you just look at,
- 14:59[SPEAKER_00]: Look at what he has done throughout his career.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's been incredible.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_00]: He had 83 pressures last year, 81 pressures a year before that.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_00]: 60 pressures a year before that.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_00]: Since he joined the Broncos, he's been a very dynamic interior past Russia, a guy who racks up pressures, who racks up sacks, racks up quarterback hits.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar did a good job against him last year, but last year, obviously, he was not going up against a rookie and a manual pregnant.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_00]: I have a lot of confidence in pregnant on.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_00]: but that's a big, big test for him in week two against Zach Allen.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_00]: So that's going to be one.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_00]: I'm very excited to watch and that'll do it here.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_00]: For matchups to watch, really appreciate you all tuning in.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_00]: You can also hit that hype button.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all have a great one.
