- 0:26Speaker 1: To f of B. Hey, y'all welcome this week's show.
- 1:02As promise, we are going to get started on the
- 1:06book The End of this Present World and the Mysteries
- 1:09of the Life to come. You're going to find this
- 1:11absolutely fascinating. Before we do, we'll do a little bit
- 1:16from radio replies, picking up where we left off. But
- 1:19I did want to make mention of one thing. A
- 1:21listener got in touch with me and said, this book
- 1:24has been reprinted and you can buy it through Sophia
- 1:27Institute Press, which is fantastic because a few years ago
- 1:31when I was looking for it, I could not find
- 1:32it on their site. I'm not saying it wasn't there.
- 1:34I'm just saying I didn't find it on their site.
- 1:36I didn't find it on Amazon. I didn't find it
- 1:39in what Abe Books or eBay or any of the
- 1:43used book sources. Couldn't find it on Tan Books, couldn't
- 1:46find it anywhere, and I'd found a copy on Archive,
- 1:50which is the one I'm using. What this means is
- 1:54you can buy a copy of it, and you can
- 1:55buy it from Sophia Institute Press, which is particularly special
- 1:58to me because they just published my new book Herbs
- 2:02that Heill Catholic homb Remedies, the book that Steve Cunningham
- 2:05and I co authored. So go get this book from
- 2:08Sophia and buy my book while you're there. And this
- 2:12is I'm really pleased by this. So each one of
- 2:16these shows, I'm going to be giving a little promo
- 2:19for go buy the book from Sophia Press. Because it's
- 2:23a controversial book. They took a risk in republishing this book,
- 2:27and I think we need to show them appreciation without
- 2:29a doubt. And they published my book, which I'm very
- 2:32happy about. It's a beautiful book. They sent me some
- 2:35author copies just a well sometime last week, and I've
- 2:42been handing them out to people, you know, and it's
- 2:44just flip through the book like this is a gorgeous book.
- 2:46It really is. They did a fantastic job. But anyway,
- 2:50let's get started with the questioner asks the priests, or
- 2:55actually states and then it's interesting where this person put it.
- 2:59He says, these seven sacraments of the Catholic Church are
- 3:02to assist us in the sanctification of our souls and
- 3:04to prepare us for happy eternity. Very true, they says,
- 3:08but will you maintain that You're Catholic. Dogmas concerning the
- 3:11future state in no way violate reason, and they said, yes,
- 3:16I am quite prepared to maintain that. The person says,
- 3:19no one on earth knows anything about life beyond, and
- 3:22they answer, you are very dogmatic. However, I prefer to
- 3:25accept the authority of the God who made me, and
- 3:28who must certainly know what is awaiting me. It is
- 3:31your word against the word of God, and I prefer
- 3:33the latter. He asks, will the future differ from this life?
- 3:38And they answer yes. This life is adapted more to
- 3:42our material nature, the soul conforming its sectivities to the
- 3:46body it animates, and the next life, the body will
- 3:49be adapted rather to our spiritual nature, the soul dominating.
- 3:53Whether the new conditions will be pleasant or unpleasant depends
- 3:57upon our conduct here on earth. Person says, you're pleasant
- 4:02or unpleasant conditions? Suppose the dogmas of heaven and hell
- 4:05dogma which reason cannot accept. And the answer the dogmas
- 4:08of heaven and hell are guarantee the dogmas of heaven
- 4:12and hell guarantee the conditions? Or is there anything in
- 4:15those dogmas which conflicts with the same reason person says,
- 4:19is a man definitely judged to death. In the answer, yes,
- 4:22it is a point of once and the men to die,
- 4:24and after that, after this the judgment Hebrews nine twenty seven.
- 4:30Retribution follows immediately after death, soldier judged individually at once,
- 4:35so that probation comes to an end with this life.
- 4:38Person says, I believe that all men will get a
- 4:41second chance. Christ said, Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be
- 4:43done on earth as is in heaven. At some future
- 4:46time on earth there will be a kingdom in which
- 4:48God's will must prevail. And the priest's answer, the Kingdom
- 4:52of Christ is already in this world. They're not of it.
- 4:55That kingdom is twofold, perfect in heaven, imperfect on earth.
- 4:59We pray that God's cand Kingdom of grace may be
- 5:01extended to the souls of men, and that they may
- 5:04so fulfill the will of God that they may attain
- 5:06that final happiness of the Kingdom of heaven. But the
- 5:09words you quote in no way refer to another temporary
- 5:12state or to any second chance. When Christ comes again, well,
- 5:18I should say. The person then asked, when Christ comes again,
- 5:21will he not teach and rule us? And they answer,
- 5:24when Christ comes again, it would be a judge mankind
- 5:27not to teach and rule us in this world. He
- 5:29has put his church on earth to do the teaching,
- 5:32and if men will not listen to it, it's their
- 5:34own fault. Now is the time of our probation, when
- 5:37we must make good use of this present life instead
- 5:40of relying upon future opportunities and preparation. Well, what better
- 5:45or intro could we have to our topic today from
- 5:47the end of this present world and the mysteries of
- 5:50the life to come. Let's get started, gonna We're really
- 5:57gonna dive in the deep end here. There's no other
- 6:00way to put it. This is just such a really
- 6:03interesting book. And like I said, you need to bookmark
- 6:07this one, you need to download it if you can
- 6:09share it on social media. There is so much confusion
- 6:14about the so called end times, the end of the world, armageddon, eschatology,
- 6:19whatever you want to say. The Catholic teaching is so
- 6:23very different, so very very different than the Protestant teaching
- 6:28which dominates the media. I mean, like the Left Behind
- 6:32series and all these movies and all kinds of stuff
- 6:35that they've made are so heretical and so off base.
- 6:40The Catholic teaching is by no means less terrifying. Actually,
- 6:45in many ways it's more so. But it's also valid
- 6:48because it's revealed to us, excuse me, through the Church
- 6:52that God gave to which God gave his authority to
- 6:56whom I guess I should say, because we refer to
- 6:58the church as a she or a you know, so
- 7:01to whom God gave his authority. The Holy Apostles were
- 7:08given all authority by Jesus to speak in his name,
- 7:12teach his name, the powers to bind and loose, and
- 7:15the power of apostolic succession to choose priests and bishops
- 7:19who would continue in their stead. There is no other
- 7:21authority on earth that has any right to claim that, certainly,
- 7:25no Protestant, no other religion. We have a revealed religion.
- 7:29It's very different than most religions, all right. So father Armagnong,
- 7:34starting with his first chapter, the End of the World,
- 7:39the signs which were seed, and the circumstances which will
- 7:42accompany it. Well, he starts with Latin, but I think okay,
- 7:47then gives a verse in English. But the day of
- 7:51the Lord shall come as a thief, in which the
- 7:53heaven shall pass away with great violence Verse Peter three. Ten.
- 7:58Saint Paul teaches us that the present war world is
- 8:00an immense laboratory where all nature is inferment and labor,
- 8:04until the day, when freed from all bondage and corruption,
- 8:09it will blossom out into a radiant and renewed order.
- 8:12Man himself, in his course here below, is no more
- 8:15than a traveler sailing across the fluctuating, tempestuous sea of
- 8:20time and the earth which bears him as but the
- 8:23boat destined to guide him towards the land of immortal
- 8:26and unending life. Nations, too, like individuals, are destined one
- 8:30day to disappear. The story of mankind would be no
- 8:34more than an inexplicable drama, a series of confused, aimless,
- 8:39isolated facts. If sooner or later it not have It's
- 8:43a point in time and climax. In the present natural order,
- 8:46everything with the beginning is destined to end. A continuous
- 8:51chain must have a link at both ends, not just one.
- 8:54This present world, precisely because it was created, necessarily tends
- 8:58toward its conclusion and end. How will the great transformation
- 9:02be affected? What will be the conditions and the new
- 9:05form of our earth when after it has been destroyed
- 9:08and completely transfigured by fire, it will no longer be
- 9:11watered by the sweat of man, and has ceased to
- 9:14be the troubled, bloodstained arena of our strife and passion.
- 9:20We shall speak of this presently in this first talk,
- 9:23and remember this book came from a series of lectures
- 9:25he prepared to actually transcript for those lectures, he says,
- 9:28in this first talk, our aim will be to recall
- 9:31the testimony of the Holy Spirit, and particularly that of
- 9:33Today's Gospel, which assures us that after a longish period
- 9:38of centuries, the visible order of things on earth will
- 9:40give way to a new and permanent order, and the
- 9:43changing era of time will be replaced by the era
- 9:46of stability and repose. As we broach this delicate and
- 9:50difficult subject, one of the most important that can be
- 9:53treated in Christian preaching, since it touches upon the present
- 9:57and the future circumstances of our country and our destinies,
- 10:00it seems right to us to point out that we
- 10:03shall steer clear of every perilous opinion, relying neither upon
- 10:07dubious revelations nor apocryphal prophecies, and making no assertion which
- 10:14is not justified by the doctrine of sacred books or
- 10:18permitted by the authentic teaching of the followers and a tradition.
- 10:21In the first four conferences, we shall recall in turn, first,
- 10:25what the premonitory signs and indications of the end times
- 10:29are to be. Secondly, what will be the marks and
- 10:32nature of the prosecute of the persecutions? The persecutions by
- 10:38this man of sin finished that sentence, Yes, the Antichrist,
- 10:42the man of sin, announced by the apostles, as the
- 10:46precursor of the final coming of the Son of God. Thirdly,
- 10:51that will be the circumstances of the resurrection? What will
- 10:56be the circumstances of the resurrection and judgment? And finally,
- 10:59what will be the place of immortal life the state
- 11:03of the world after the resurrection. Today, in our commentary
- 11:07on Sacred Scripture, and particularly on the twenty fourth chapter
- 11:10of Saint Matthew, we shall seek to resolve these three
- 11:13fundamental questions. First, is the doctrine of the end of
- 11:17times an indubitable doctrine founded on reason and harmony with
- 11:23the facts of the present day science. Secondly, may we
- 11:26deduce from the words of Christ whether the end of
- 11:28times is near or remote? And thirdly, by what means
- 11:33will this final cataclysm, this great crowning change come about?
- 11:39In the face of these formidable problems in which defy
- 11:43the light and grasp of human understanding. Our voice is
- 11:47hesitant and can only stammer. May your blessing, my Lord Bishop,
- 11:51strengthen it. May the Spirit of God enlighten our mind
- 11:54and place on our lips words of truth, strength, wisdom,
- 11:57and discretion on. The materialistic, atheistic science of our century,
- 12:04the sort which is propagated in magazines, taught from most
- 12:07official rostrums, and given credence by the mainstream of present
- 12:11day anti Christian opinion, persists in regarding the order of
- 12:15perfection of the universe merely as a result of chance.
- 12:19It affirms that matter is eternal, denying creation. It could
- 12:24not logically admit that the world can have an end.
- 12:27According to this false science, the present universe will always subsist, or,
- 12:33if it becomes progressively better, will be solely through the
- 12:36effects of man's genius, the increasing impulse given to the
- 12:40arts and industrial achievements, the very combination and plays of
- 12:43fluids and elements, decomposing and reconstituting themselves to give birth
- 12:48to new forms. In short by the application and activation
- 12:52of the innumerable and still unknown forces which nature conceals
- 12:56in her bosom, forces which themselves are capable of surging
- 13:01forward into limitless and indefinite growth. And just as the
- 13:05warm and pect perfecting itself turned into a quadruped from
- 13:10quadruped to two footed creature, from two footed creature to man,
- 13:13in the same way, man with aid of science will
- 13:17one day attain the pinnacle of his sovereignty. Yes, is
- 13:21that true to this day? That's the promise of transhumanism.
- 13:25Very little has changed since the eighteen nineties when father
- 13:27Armagnon wrote this, Very little except the horrors of the
- 13:32twentieth century. Two hundred million people slaughtered by their own
- 13:36nations run by atheistic socialist communists, people who said science
- 13:42is the new religion. We have a much better argument
- 13:46now than they actually did, and then before they knew
- 13:48what was going to come of modernism, of modernity. All right,
- 13:53So he will conquer time and space, make himself wings
- 13:56in order to propel himself toward the stars. And this
- 14:00long before space travel, by the way, and explore the
- 14:03wonders of the constellations. In the eyes of atheistic science,
- 14:07paradise and eternal life as conceived by Christians are an
- 14:11allegory and a myth. Progress is the last end at
- 14:15the law and foundation of the life of man, the
- 14:18final point and aim where all his thoughts and aspirations
- 14:21suit converge. Let man courageously cast aside the bonds of darkness,
- 14:25of superstition, and of oppressive, outdated beliefs. Let him have
- 14:29faith in himself alone, and in a more or less
- 14:32approximate future he will be invested with an unlimited, understrained
- 14:37kingship over the elements in creation. Yes, this is the
- 14:40eighteen nineties. This is really very much leading up to
- 14:45Hitler and eugenics and all that and everything we're still
- 14:49dealing with today. Nature completely subdued. It was the brave
- 14:54New World. Look about as Huxley's Brave New World. His
- 14:57brother was a eugenicist. He's a little bit of an
- 15:00He's an interesting guy anyway. Nature, completely subdued by his genius,
- 15:05will then open like the horn of plenty upon a
- 15:08new humanity, pouring forth the fullness of desirable goods. And
- 15:12if this present generation fail to attain this ideal of bliss,
- 15:16they may take comfort for the prospect that it would
- 15:18be the attribute of some more distant descendants, and all
- 15:21the more glorious for these, and that they will have
- 15:23acquired them independently, without the assistance of God, and will
- 15:27be solely the result of their own perseverance, efforts and ingenuity.
- 15:31Another reason I like Father Armagnon. He wrote like William Faulkner,
- 15:36and being Southern. You know, the man was not big
- 15:39on short sentences. Yeah, he was. I guess a Frenchman
- 15:45that wrote like a Southerner. Very interesting to me, very different.
- 15:49You know, we've been going through Father Sparaco's explanation for
- 15:52the Catechism. That's your Germanic terse short sentences. These are
- 15:58much more poetical. Need excuse me, it's sip water here,
- 16:07all right. Need I say that these fantasies, these crass,
- 16:12nonsensical theories, are contradicted by reason and the commons assent
- 16:16of all nation. They are contradicted by Christian reason. If,
- 16:20in fact, as our Christian faith and conviction tells us,
- 16:23temporal life had its principle at the beginning in God,
- 16:27it must also have in God its consummation and destiny.
- 16:31Man was created to know love and serve God, and
- 16:34if he did not succeed one day in possessing him
- 16:37and being irrevocably united with him, the Creator's plan, devoid
- 16:41of any rational en, would be no more than a
- 16:44strange aberration. Mankind toward it, in its love, its tendencies
- 16:49and aspirations, would become like another Sisyphus or sort of
- 16:52Roulette ball, dancing in the air, and condemned to spend
- 16:56forever on a will of fate's blind necessity. What place
- 16:59would they be for justice, morality, the security of families,
- 17:02and the public authority in a system where everything was
- 17:05in a state of disorder and contradiction, where the ideal
- 17:09never became reality, good was never separated from evil, and
- 17:13no standard existed by which to decide the importance of
- 17:16moral living and true sanctification, true sanction of human acts. History,
- 17:21a skeptical author of our times, has said, is a
- 17:24judge of people, and her judgment, which continues throughout the ages,
- 17:28renders the last judgment pointless and superfluous. Our reply would
- 17:32be that the judgment of history is not a public judgment,
- 17:35whereas the evil is public and rises up with an arrogance,
- 17:39which is the scandal to men and constant outrage against God.
- 17:43The judgment of history remains incomplete because every good or
- 17:46bad act is the mainspring of good or evil, a
- 17:49seed of life or death, all the fruits and results
- 17:52of which its author could neither feel nor foresee. That
- 17:56is why, if the Universal Judgment had not been foretold
- 17:58to us, it would be our duty to demand it,
- 18:01to insist upon it as a necessary consequence, as the
- 18:05final exact, the final enactment of that divine providence which
- 18:09guides the movement of history throughout the ages, and as
- 18:12a final measure to complete his work and place his
- 18:15seal on it. This Universal Judgment is but the last
- 18:19scene of the universal drama, the general fulfillment of all
- 18:23the partial judgments emanating from God's justice. It is only
- 18:27on this understanding that history becomes clear and comprehensible, that
- 18:31we shall see it, not as the confused mind and
- 18:34eyes of a man imagined to be, but as it
- 18:36really is, like a book open to every eye. A
- 18:39great orator of our time is said, history is not over.
- 18:42It will begin in the valley of josephat j O
- 18:47s A p h a t not jehasaphat Josephat anyway,
- 18:53Christian reason and common assent of all nations thus bear
- 18:56witness that the world must end and that there will
- 18:59be a new order. This truth is also in conformity
- 19:03with the science and observed facts. It is a recognizable
- 19:07principle in general law of nature that everything which is
- 19:09subject to movement or decomposition, everything consumed by time or
- 19:13limited in extent, is liable to wear out as an age,
- 19:18and in the end disappears imperisis. Science teaches that there
- 19:21is no vital force or creative agent that has the
- 19:24power to deploy its energy beyond a limited duration, and that,
- 19:28by virtue of the creative law, the field of its
- 19:30activity is restricted within a given sphere, the boundary of
- 19:33which cannot be crossed. The most perfect and soundly built
- 19:37organism could not be made to function definitely indefinitely. Not
- 19:42only living beings such as animals and plants, but even minerals,
- 19:46are subject to opposing forces of affinity or repulsion, and
- 19:49tend continuously to separate in order to form new groupings. Thus,
- 19:53the hardest rocks and granite undergo corrosion and weathering, which
- 19:56sooner or later will bring them tumbling down. Stars are
- 19:59seeing to extinguish and vanish in the firmament. Every movement,
- 20:03even that of the heavens, tends to become slower. Imminent
- 20:06astronomers have detected in the sun and in the stars
- 20:09losses of heat and light, admittedly imperceptible, which nevertheless will
- 20:13not fail, after the passage of many centuries, to have
- 20:16a disastrous effect on our climate and seasons. Be that
- 20:19as it may, it is certain that our earth no
- 20:22longer possesses the same fecondy, fertility, or vegetative strength with
- 20:29which it had in the first ages of the human race.
- 20:32Just as the world had its youth, so there will
- 20:34become a time when the world will have its twilight,
- 20:37when it will hasten towards its evening and decline. Yes,
- 20:40the sun will eventually go out, and life would be
- 20:43impossible on Earth. It would be sub zero. I mean,
- 20:47it's impossible, There'll be nothing living. Thus, these truths are
- 20:51observation and common sense, which reason grasps easily. But Christianity
- 20:56alone has succeeded in demonstrating their certainty and their excellence.
- 21:00It is in this respect a Protestant thinker said the
- 21:03Christian doctrine is quite distinct from philosophical doctrines. It affirms
- 21:07that a new existence awaits man after this life. An
- 21:11absolute requirement for the fulfillment of that existence is the nature.
- 21:15Is that nature, which has become obscure and impenetrable to man,
- 21:18should be explained and clarified in some future state, which
- 21:22will prove the harmony between visible and invisible things, the
- 21:25transient and everlasting matter and spirit. Only in that future.
- 21:31Only with such an end human existence can the consequence
- 21:34of man fine repose. For this hope, we are indebted
- 21:37to Christ, whose promise permits us to expect, after the
- 21:40final crisis, a new Earth and new heavens. So the
- 21:43world will have an end. But the is this end
- 21:46remote or near? That is a serious exciting question, no
- 21:50less worthy of reflection by Christian souls. Holy scripture on
- 21:54this point does not leave us completely in the dark. Certainly,
- 21:57speaking of the exact date, Jesus Christ said, but of
- 22:00that day and hour no one knoweth, no, not the
- 22:03angels of heaven, but the Father alone. On the other hand,
- 22:06he consented to give definite signs and indications intended to
- 22:11let us know that the fulfillment of the prophecies is close,
- 22:13and that the world is nearing its end. Jesus Christ
- 22:17has proceeded in respect of mankind considered as a whole,
- 22:20in the same way as with individuals. Thus our death
- 22:24is certain, but the hour is unknown to us. None
- 22:27can say whether we will be living a week or
- 22:30a day from now, And I, who am speaking to you,
- 22:33do not know whether I shall complete this talk which
- 22:35I have begun. But if we can be taken by
- 22:38surprise at any time, there are nevertheless signs which attests
- 22:41for our final hour. That our final hour is imminent,
- 22:45and that we should be laboring under Crass's illusion if
- 22:48we imagine that we had a long stretch of life
- 22:50still awaited. Here below, our Lord tells us from the
- 22:53fig tree, learn the parable. When the branch thereof is
- 22:56now tender, and the leaves come forth, you shall know
- 22:59that summer is not so you also, when you shall
- 23:02see these things worse famines, earthquakes, know ye that it
- 23:05is nigh even at the doors. As a matter of fact,
- 23:09these public calamities and disturbances, and the alterations and the elements,
- 23:13and in the normal course of the seasons, which will
- 23:15mark the final coming of the Son of God are
- 23:17vague in definite signs. They have appeared with greater or
- 23:21lesser intensity in every ill fated period of human history,
- 23:24and in all periods of crisis and religious disorder. At
- 23:28the time of Maccabees, signs were already seen in the sky.
- 23:32For forty days, the whole city of Jerusalem observed men
- 23:35on horseback in the air, clad in gold brocade and
- 23:38armed with lances like calvary units. The horses, drawn up
- 23:41in squadrons, charged one another. The men seen to be
- 23:44armed with javelins and drawn swords. Their weapons were made
- 23:47of gold, and their helmets and breastplates were dazzling the terrorI.
- 23:51Stricken people prayed fervently to God in order that these
- 23:55omens might turn to their deliverance and not to their
- 23:57confusion or Ruin siege of Jerusalem or Titus, the holy
- 24:02holies and the Temple were shaken by mysterious movements. Strange
- 24:06noises were heard coming from them, and voices from invisible
- 24:11beings cried out, let us depart, hints, let us depart, hints.
- 24:15A grand Rabbi, dumbfounded by these terrifying supernatural manifestations, exclaimed
- 24:19Old temple. Why are you troubled? And why are you
- 24:22why do you frighten yourself? Accordingly? In order not to
- 24:25give rise to a misunderstanding or a false interpretation, Christ
- 24:28tells us that the afflictions and prodigies of nature which
- 24:33will mark the latter the latter ages of mankind are
- 24:36only the prelude, the prelude and beginning of still greater sorrows.
- 24:42Hank autumn Omnia initiat de laurum. You know what, My
- 24:47Latin is not good enough to translate. Just off the
- 24:49top of my head. This, uh, yes, uh is the
- 24:56well initia beginning of the sorrow. So there you go.
- 25:02Omnia would be all sorrows anyway. I'm not going to
- 25:04try to translate as I go. Yeah, I might say
- 25:08something wrong, and I'm afraid to say something wrong in
- 25:10the book of this magnitude. So if you want to
- 25:14take that, Heke autumn Omnia initius so dolorum I believe
- 25:18I said it right. If you want to run it
- 25:19through Google or something and your own definition, go for it. Thus,
- 25:24no firm conclusion can be drawn from present disasters and revolutions,
- 25:28or great religious or social cataclysms, of which Europe and
- 25:32the world are currently the scene regarding the end of times.
- 25:36The signs today are the same science which occurred in
- 25:38ancient times, and the experience shows that they are insufficient
- 25:43to prove the proximity of the judgment. Nevertheless, it is
- 25:47worth bearing in mind that Christ and his prophecy Matthew
- 25:49twenty four mingles together in a single scene the signs
- 25:53related to the end of the world and those relating
- 25:55to the structure Jerusalem. He does so first because of
- 25:58the analogy between to events. Second because in God there
- 26:03is no distinction or succession of time. The impending events
- 26:06and those more remote are clearly present to his mind,
- 26:11and he sees them as if they occurred at the
- 26:14same moment. Moreover, our Lord Jesus Christ knew that the Apostles,
- 26:19before they were enlightened by the Holy Ghosts, were imbued
- 26:22with illusions, and were imbued with illusions and all the
- 26:28Jewish prejudices. In their eyes, Jerusalem was the whole universe,
- 26:32and it's ruin meant for them the collapse of the world.
- 26:35As a result of this narrow, exaggerated patriotism which dominated them,
- 26:39the Apostles continued in their vigilant and unceasing anticipation until
- 26:44the ruin of Jerusalem. Such were the dispositions which Christ
- 26:49endeavored to arouse, seeking to instruct them and lead them
- 26:53away from gross earthly hopes, rather than excite their curiosity
- 26:57by disclosing to them hidden secrets to the future. Hence,
- 27:01in his prophecy he shows them as it were, two
- 27:04perspectives and two horizons, having analogous features and alike in relief,
- 27:09pattern and coloring. In Saint Matthew and Saint Mark, the
- 27:12two events, the destruction of Jerusalem the end of the world,
- 27:14seem rather to be merged. In Saint Luke, two occurrences
- 27:18are very clearly distinguished. They are features which refer solely
- 27:22to the end of the world, such as ease, and
- 27:24there shall be stars, and there should be signs in
- 27:28the sun and the moon, and in the stars, and
- 27:30upon the earth, distress of nations by reasons of confusion,
- 27:34and of the roaring of the sea and of waves,
- 27:37men withering away for fear and expectation of what shall
- 27:40come upon the whole world, for the powers of Heaven
- 27:43should be moved, and when they shall see the Son
- 27:46of Man coming in a cloud with great power and Majesty,
- 27:50will the world? Will the world last another one hundred years?
- 27:53Will it end with our present millennium? Will mankind and
- 27:57the Christian law of grace go through a span of
- 27:59years responding to the period pastor in the law of
- 28:03nature or the Mosaic law? These questions upon which no
- 28:07hypothesis or conjecture may be ventured. All the calculations and
- 28:12inquiries in which learned interpreters have indulged or idle guesses,
- 28:17lacking any purpose other than the satisfaction of vain curiosity,
- 28:21Providence has ordained that this day should not be known,
- 28:24and that nobody shall succeed in discovering it until it
- 28:27actually arrives. No, and let no one object that if
- 28:32we cannot assign the day, we can at least determine
- 28:34the period of the year or the year. No. For
- 28:37Saint Augustine remarks that the word day in Holy Scripture
- 28:40is to be understood in the same sense of any
- 28:42length of time. The testimony of the Holy Doctor concurs
- 28:45with that of the prophet Malachi. Let's see, well, he
- 28:53gets a long passage in Latin. So I've already said
- 28:55I'm not going to do the Latin Okay, have to
- 28:57look it up if you want to do that. Because
- 28:58I'm a fram am Ms now something, I'm afraid I'm
- 29:00going to do something that could cause error in someone's mind,
- 29:03so I'm going to stick with the English parts. The
- 29:06reason is that the end of the world will not
- 29:08simply be the effect of some natural calls, but it
- 29:10depends a puff above all, in the will of God
- 29:13which has not been revealed to us. It is of
- 29:16faith that human destinies will be brought to a close
- 29:20when the measure of saints shall have been filled up
- 29:23and the number of the elect consummated. Now, no man,
- 29:26whether from reasons which are certain, or even on the
- 29:28strength of a probable conjecture, can know the number of
- 29:31the predestinates, still less the time which will elapse before
- 29:34this number is complete. Who, for example, would dare assert
- 29:38whether more or fewer men will be saved in the
- 29:40centuries to come than we're saved in the preceding centuries.
- 29:43And irrespective of whether the number of future saints is
- 29:46greater or less than the number of past saints, how
- 29:49is it possible to predict the length of time in
- 29:51which their number will be consummated? Is it not an
- 29:54established fact in the life of the Church, that there
- 29:57are periods of sterility where saints rare, and periods of
- 30:02there's that word again, facundity, in which they abound. That
- 30:06is why, considering the original cause of the world, which
- 30:09is none other than a hidden mystery of predestination, no
- 30:13one can conclude whether the end of the world is
- 30:15near or distant. However, if Christ teaches us that this
- 30:21final great day is a secret which God himself and
- 30:25the designs of his sovereignty, has kept to himself, and
- 30:28which will defy all our calculation till the very hour
- 30:32of its fulfillment. Nevertheless, in order to fore arm us
- 30:35against negligence and a fault sense of security, he unceasingly
- 30:39reminds men first that the end of the world is certain.
- 30:42Secondly that this relative proc that it is relatively proximate
- 30:47soon to come relatively Thirdly, that it will not occur
- 30:50until until they have come to pass. Not ordinary habitual signs,
- 30:55such as have happened at all times, but the particular
- 30:58distinctive signs which He has clearly indicated us. These signs
- 31:02are not just calamities and revolutions in the stars, but
- 31:06events of a public character pertaining to both the religious
- 31:09and social order, which mankind cannot fail to perceive. All right, there,
- 31:15we will will stop there. That was the beginning of
- 31:17section one, Chapter one. The book's only going to pick
- 31:22up momentum from here, and it is really profound, amazing.
- 31:27Like I said, you're gonna want to share this one.
- 31:30You're going to want to listen to it a few times.
- 31:32Get the book, take notes, be sure to spread it
- 31:36on social media. Downloaded, save copies. Because there's a lot
- 31:40of opposition to this book. As I've said before, I
- 31:46believe the Masonic Order, the Freemasons are very much against
- 31:49this book. There are some so called Zionists and such
- 31:54that are also against this book, even though it's not
- 31:57anti Jewish in anyway. That's that's a myth. It's going
- 32:01to get just really intense. So y'all have a great week,
- 32:07and remember those who persevere until the end shall be saved.
- 32:11That's so, what are the promise our Lord gave us,
- 32:13And that's an individual's choice for each of us. We
- 32:17have to persevere in charity, faith and virtue until the
- 32:22end and then we don't have to worry about anything else. Okay,
- 32:25So it's really that simple. See y'all have a going
- 32:27I'll talk to you next time.
