- 4:27Speaker 1: What was the name of that that school? Kayles, Mississippi
- 4:32Speaker 1: University for women has been they were playing men. Okay,
- 4:40Speaker 1: that was their lone victory, and man have they gotten
- 4:44Speaker 1: lit up in every other game they played.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Except for Manhattan, and we saw how good they were.
- 4:50Speaker 1: They only lost to nine or so to Manhattan, so
- 4:54Speaker 1: you huh seven?
- 4:56Speaker 3: Wow, that's really good.
- 5:00Speaker 1: So what else do we have in SEC hoops? Ooh,
- 5:05Speaker 1: Tennessee and Houston or play?
- 5:08Speaker 6: I like that.
- 5:09Speaker 1: The Cougars barely escaped against Syracuse in Vegas yesterday, Auburn
- 5:14Speaker 1: and Michigan. That's part of that Las Vegas deal. Alabama
- 5:20Speaker 1: and you NLV, by the way, UNLV knocked off Maryland
- 5:27Speaker 1: last night.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Nice you're going why are you talking about Maryland?
- 5:32Speaker 1: Buzz Williams? Is there South Carolina State at Missouri.
- 5:37Speaker 6: Maryland? One?
- 5:39Speaker 5: Oh?
- 5:39Speaker 1: I guess they get to play win or lose. Huh,
- 5:41Speaker 1: Maryland beat UNLV What was the score? Well, I'm glad
- 5:45Speaker 1: you looked that up. That would have been bad. Congratulations Buzz.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Remember A and M was part of that tournament until
- 5:55Speaker 1: Buzz left and took it with him. But the Aggies
- 5:59Speaker 1: are going to be back next year. Maui Invitational Texas
- 6:05Speaker 1: and Shamanad.
- 6:06Speaker 6: Oh.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Ever, since Shamanad beat number one Virginia, that's been like,
- 6:12Speaker 1: I don't know, it's been about one hundred years ago,
- 6:14Speaker 1: but still whenever you hear Shamanad in Hawaii.
- 6:17Speaker 3: It's like, yeah, you better be careful.
- 6:20Speaker 1: That's the old Maui Invitational. So you got that going
- 6:24Speaker 1: for you, which is nice.
- 6:28Speaker 5: Oh.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Let's see North Carolina State, Boise State, Saint John's and Baylor.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Right now they're playing now John's. The Johnny's are leading
- 6:39Speaker 1: the Bears by nine right now. Poise really in c
- 6:46Speaker 1: State I knew, or they're undefeated now they got beat
- 6:52Speaker 1: by Saint Like upset by Saint Bonovich or somebody like that.
- 6:56Speaker 1: They got beat by Seaton Hall, thank you. Let's see
- 7:02Speaker 1: I mentioned Auburn of Michigan, I mentioned Maryland and Gonzaga.
- 7:06Speaker 3: I'll tell you what Gonzaga's pretty good. I watched them
- 7:09Speaker 3: last night.
- 7:09Speaker 6: Who were they.
- 7:10Speaker 3: Playing last night? Somebody really good? Who'd they beat last night?
- 7:14Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 7:15Speaker 1: Alabama? Alabama's really good. What was the final score because
- 7:20Speaker 1: I turned it off as too late. Yeah, a lot
- 7:23Speaker 1: of defense, ninety five to eighty five.
- 7:25Speaker 3: But I'm telling you the Zags.
- 7:28Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know why we should be surprised,
- 7:31Speaker 1: but they can play.
- 7:33Speaker 3: They're pretty good.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Boston Red Sox have acquired veteran right handers Sonny Gray
- 7:39Speaker 1: in a trade with the Saint Louis Cardinals. Saint Louis
- 7:43Speaker 1: gets left handed prospect Brandon Clark right hander Richard fitz
- 7:48Speaker 1: Boston will also get twenty million dollars and Pro Football
- 7:54Speaker 1: Hall of Fame Modern Era semi finalists in their first year.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Drew Brees, Philip Rivers, Frank Gore, Larry Fitzgerald, Yes, Jason Witten, Yeah,
- 8:06Speaker 1: probably so, Philip Rivers, I don't think so.
- 8:08Speaker 3: I'm sorry. Eli Manning is on.
- 8:13Speaker 1: The list, Tory Holtz on the list. I'm not gonna
- 8:18Speaker 1: read everybody out of Vinitarry, he was pretty good kicker.
- 8:21Speaker 1: I think Richmond Webb, Yes, yes, Richmond Webb should be
- 8:28Speaker 1: in the Hall of fame. So anyway, got that going
- 8:32Speaker 1: on for us, We're gonna take a break. We're gonna
- 8:34Speaker 1: hear from the anim athletic director after the final light.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Brought to you by Chad Jones Law.
- 8:43Speaker 7: I'm Chad Jones. We know sports injuries hurt, and so
- 8:46Speaker 7: do injuries from car rex. But you didn't sign up
- 8:49Speaker 7: to being a car wreck with someone who wasn't paying attention.
- 8:51Speaker 7: It was their fault and now you're left to deal
- 8:53Speaker 7: with the consequences. You need to see a doctor and
- 8:56Speaker 7: you're missing work. Chad Jones Law can help. We've been
- 8:58Speaker 7: helping our neighbors from more than two decades stop getting
- 9:01Speaker 7: frustrated with the other side's foot dragging.
- 9:04Speaker 8: Remember, don't get mad. Get Chad.
- 9:06Speaker 7: Call Chad Jones Law at ninety seven nine five to
- 9:08Speaker 7: nine five five thousand, or go on line to Chad
- 9:11Speaker 7: Jones Wall dot com.
- 9:15Speaker 9: Joey Logano is on and he's talking tires, specifically the
- 9:19Speaker 9: red option tires that we saw this past weekend at
- 9:21Speaker 9: Phoenix for.
- 9:22Speaker 5: The better of the sport.
- 9:24Speaker 10: I think this what we've been doing with the tires
- 9:25Speaker 10: has been a really big game lately, right whether I
- 9:28Speaker 10: mean last week, you've seen a lot of fall off there.
- 9:30Speaker 10: It was just great and the way we're introducing it
- 9:33Speaker 10: is a pretty you know, safe way to do it.
- 9:36Speaker 10: And you know, we did this at Richmond and I
- 9:38Speaker 10: think it's cool. I kind of like the option thing.
- 9:40Speaker 10: I know it's kind of hit or miss for competitors
- 9:43Speaker 10: and maybe even fans, whether they like it or not.
- 9:46Speaker 10: I think some people see it as possibly gimmicky, but
- 9:49Speaker 10: I don't see it that way at all. I see
- 9:51Speaker 10: if everyone has the same amount of tires, and how
- 9:53Speaker 10: do you want to call the race? I do think
- 9:55Speaker 10: it's better for the sport to have. You know, if
- 9:57Speaker 10: this tire does work, are able to implement more places
- 10:01Speaker 10: and keep doing.
- 10:02Speaker 9: This and his thoughts on Austin Cindric's penalty from CODA.
- 10:06Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean I think all of us just go
- 10:08Speaker 10: and look back and say, Okay, what is acceptable and
- 10:11Speaker 10: what is not? And how is things called right?
- 10:14Speaker 5: Because it's case by case right. It's just what they say.
- 10:17Speaker 10: So yeah, now we know what that means. And that's
- 10:22Speaker 10: how I when it interprets the rules is you know,
- 10:24Speaker 10: it's one thing to be written in the rule book
- 10:26Speaker 10: and sometimes it's a lot of it's really hard to
- 10:28Speaker 10: understand it because it's a lot of legal mumbo jumbo
- 10:30Speaker 10: in there. But when they make a call on something
- 10:32Speaker 10: and it's this way, you expect, Okay, next time you
- 10:35Speaker 10: should look like that if it's a similar scenario. Right,
- 10:38Speaker 10: So it's a I guess it's case by case.
- 10:40Speaker 9: This is the final app.
- 10:44Speaker 11: Are you like everybody else in the world who has
- 10:46Speaker 11: no idea what to get everyone for the holidays? Like

- 12:18Speaker 13: down with the CNI dog and he sat down and
- 12:21Speaker 13: we sat down.
- 12:23Speaker 4: Obi looked at the CNI dog.
- 12:26Speaker 8: Alice's restaurant.
- 12:27Speaker 1: It is the quintessential Thanksgiving theme song. Thanks for being
- 12:33Speaker 1: with us Tomorrow tomorrow. We're full up as well. Kurt
- 12:37Speaker 1: Bowles will join us, Tony Catalina will join us. We'll

- 12:50Speaker 1: called Iron in the Blood. It is the history of
- 12:53Speaker 1: the Alabama Auburn rivalry. We'll visit with Jake Busby tomorrow
- 12:57Speaker 1: on the show. Yesterday, of Albert's answered some questions from
- 13:02Speaker 1: some media types.
- 13:03Speaker 3: Here's part of what he had to say.
- 13:05Speaker 14: Really, how proud I am to have the pleasure to
- 13:08Speaker 14: get to serve with an amazing athletic department and coaches.
- 13:12Speaker 14: Obviously you just heard from coach Elco and the job
- 13:15Speaker 14: that he and his staff.
- 13:16Speaker 5: Are doing with our football program is pretty remarkable.
- 13:18Speaker 14: But across the board, it's been really fun to watch
- 13:21Speaker 14: the game tonight for volleyball and coach Morrison that was
- 13:25Speaker 14: referenced is going to be really awesome.
- 13:26Speaker 5: So to see that all of our programs work really hard.
- 13:30Speaker 14: In supporting young people and achieving at a high level
- 13:32Speaker 14: has really been a great fall so far. We got
- 13:34Speaker 14: to keep it going, keep working doing all the right things.
- 13:36Speaker 14: But proud of each of our program and all of
- 13:39Speaker 14: our student athletes with.
- 13:41Speaker 15: That, we'll start their row on the right side with
- 13:43Speaker 15: David Jeff.
- 13:44Speaker 16: Can you take us through the timeline how this so
- 13:46Speaker 16: al kind of unfolded with the timing with coach Elco
- 13:48Speaker 16: getting his and yours kind of similar win did the
- 13:50Speaker 16: talks kind of begin and take us through that.
- 13:52Speaker 5: Yeah, sure, happy to do that. And I'm not.
- 13:54Speaker 14: Going to give you actually specific dates because I'll probably misspeak,
- 13:57Speaker 14: but you know, a lot of these things kind of
- 13:59Speaker 14: sort of happened organically. I think, as Mike has always
- 14:03Speaker 14: talked about, partnerships are important. You know, you know, at
- 14:07Speaker 14: the end of the day, you're sort of just spending
- 14:09Speaker 14: some time trying to understand, you know, where is the relationship,
- 14:13Speaker 14: you know, how do you feel things are going? Mike
- 14:15Speaker 14: and I talk all the time, but I think in
- 14:17Speaker 14: about early October, you know, you start seeing and some
- 14:21Speaker 14: of the affirmation of things that we thought was happening.
- 14:24Speaker 14: You know, you could see the cultural change, you could
- 14:27Speaker 14: see a team that was responding in a way that
- 14:29Speaker 14: perhaps maybe hadn't done before. And you saw the team
- 14:32Speaker 14: and I, you know, I watched the very small nuances
- 14:36Speaker 14: of things like what does springball look like?
- 14:38Speaker 5: What is fallbook?
- 14:39Speaker 14: Like, you know, what is the physicality going to look like,
- 14:42Speaker 14: what's the togetherness of the team going to be Because
- 14:45Speaker 14: during the course of a football season, every team is
- 14:47Speaker 14: going to go through a whole lot of adversity, and
- 14:49Speaker 14: sometimes it happens in the middle of a game. Football
- 14:52Speaker 14: is all about momentum, and so when you see our
- 14:55Speaker 14: team be able to respond in the moment to some
- 14:58Speaker 14: of that type of adversity and the momentum challenge, I
- 15:01Speaker 14: think it's an affirmation of the culture. And so initially
- 15:05Speaker 14: it's just, you know, an easy conversation between two families
- 15:09Speaker 14: that kind of talk about a You know, are you
- 15:11Speaker 14: still seeing the same things that Angela and I saw
- 15:14Speaker 14: when we were looking at Texas A and M. You
- 15:16Speaker 14: see the opportunity. You see a place given the realities
- 15:19Speaker 14: of the changes in college athletics and where this thing
- 15:21Speaker 14: is going.
- 15:22Speaker 5: You know, being an athletic.
- 15:24Speaker 14: Director at a place like Texas A and M, who
- 15:27Speaker 14: has always been an incredible honor, right but in the
- 15:30Speaker 14: change and the modernization that's happening, it's probably an even
- 15:34Speaker 14: different job. And I mean that in a positive way.
- 15:37Speaker 14: Same thing for the football coach. So we started in
- 15:39Speaker 14: early October just talking philosophically. You know, at the end
- 15:42Speaker 14: of the day, these jobs are hard, and so if
- 15:45Speaker 14: there is an alignment between the athletic director and the
- 15:48Speaker 14: head football coach, it's hard.
- 15:49Speaker 5: And we continue to see things the same way.
- 15:51Speaker 14: And so we kind of started there, and ultimately, as
- 15:55Speaker 14: we continue talking, Mike and I have enough of relationship.
- 15:58Speaker 14: It's not one of those deals where it's like, k
- 16:00Speaker 14: go talk to my agent, come talk to me later.
- 16:02Speaker 14: I mean, Mike and I philosophically had a general idea
- 16:06Speaker 14: and you know, the market's sort of the market. That's
- 16:08Speaker 14: really an easy thing for me to figure out. And
- 16:10Speaker 14: then ultimately, I think there was a couple of conversations
- 16:14Speaker 14: with Mike and then I sat down with Mike's agent.
- 16:16Speaker 5: It took about an hour.
- 16:18Speaker 14: I mean, generally, when things are meant to be, they're
- 16:21Speaker 14: not really hard to get done, right. It just happens
- 16:24Speaker 14: sort of organically, and simply Mike wants to be here. Again,
- 16:28Speaker 14: not speaking for Mike, but I think, you know, sees
- 16:32Speaker 14: the opportunity. We're really fortunate to have him leading our
- 16:35Speaker 14: football program. But yeah, I think early October and then
- 16:38Speaker 14: as it kind of materially moves forward, it just felt
- 16:42Speaker 14: right and was obvious that that we needed to get
- 16:44Speaker 14: this done right now. Well, yeah, similar deal, you know.
- 16:49Speaker 14: But at the end of the day again, right, like
- 16:51Speaker 14: you want to make sure and not just a football coach,
- 16:54Speaker 14: but all of your coaches, look all of us in
- 16:56Speaker 14: these positions like I'm perfectly imperfect.
- 16:58Speaker 5: Right.
- 17:00Speaker 14: Some people may love working with you, some people might not.
- 17:02Speaker 14: But at the end of the day, you're looking for
- 17:03Speaker 14: cultural fit. You're looking for to make sure that you know,
- 17:06Speaker 14: are we doing the things that you all as coaches
- 17:09Speaker 14: need to be successful. I've always believed that, you know,
- 17:13Speaker 14: at the end of the day, it's you know, you
- 17:14Speaker 14: have to have a servant leadership perspective in these types
- 17:17Speaker 14: of jobs. And you know, because we're not going to
- 17:20Speaker 14: win every game, right David, as you know we're you know,
- 17:23Speaker 14: there's gonna be times where so we've really worked hard
- 17:26Speaker 14: as a department coach.
- 17:27Speaker 5: Alco has been a leader, but.
- 17:28Speaker 14: All of our coach has been leaders about this idea
- 17:31Speaker 14: of unity of purpose and being a family and being together.
- 17:34Speaker 14: And it's really easy right now, right when people are winning,
- 17:37Speaker 14: to feel good about each other and be part of
- 17:40Speaker 14: a family.
- 17:41Speaker 5: But there's going to come a time when it's not always.
- 17:42Speaker 14: So easy, and you're ultimately you know that that cultural
- 17:47Speaker 14: piece that a lot of our coaches are trying to
- 17:49Speaker 14: create within our own teams, we need to have as
- 17:51Speaker 14: an entire department and have each other's backs, and so,
- 17:56Speaker 14: you know, for us, it was it was never a doubt.
- 17:58Speaker 14: I mean, the place has always spend and has affirmed
- 18:01Speaker 14: what we thought it could be and is a remarkable,
- 18:04Speaker 14: remarkable place with a remarkable trajectory. But really what makes
- 18:08Speaker 14: this place different is the people. Kyle Field's incredible, right,
- 18:14Speaker 14: but it's the people. And you know, past leadership here
- 18:17Speaker 14: deserves a lot of credit for the type of people
- 18:19Speaker 14: that have been brought into this university and I just
- 18:21Speaker 14: get the privilege of getting to work with them.
- 18:24Speaker 15: We'll go front row on the right side to Travis
- 18:25Speaker 15: and then try there's.
- 18:26Speaker 5: A really long answer to a very simple question.
- 18:28Speaker 17: Sorry, it drove with I know a lot of talk
- 18:32Speaker 17: about alignment between all the leadership with a new chancellor
- 18:36Speaker 17: and interim president. Was there any more challenges in getting
- 18:39Speaker 17: any of this done or was it seemingly in line?
- 18:42Speaker 5: Well, there really was, in Travis, it's a great question.
- 18:44Speaker 5: I'm glad you brought that up.
- 18:46Speaker 14: I do really want to thank the Board of Regions.
- 18:49Speaker 14: You know, there's a there's a whole group of people
- 18:52Speaker 14: that are working really, really hard, and it's not just
- 18:55Speaker 14: for Texas, A and M, it's the entire system. They
- 18:58Speaker 14: don't get it paid a lot of money to be
- 18:59Speaker 14: read by the way, In fact it's zero. So Chairman
- 19:03Speaker 14: Bob all Britton and Vice Cha Jay Graham really led
- 19:06Speaker 14: the way. But all of the regions were just wonderful.
- 19:09Speaker 14: We need that type of leadership. We need those folks
- 19:12Speaker 14: working together, being unified, which they were and I got
- 19:16Speaker 14: to engage with them very early on. Chancellor Heger has
- 19:19Speaker 14: been fantastic and very supportive. Interim President Williams in his
- 19:23Speaker 14: short time, has been at a head coaches meeting, He's
- 19:26Speaker 14: been at the all staff meeting, He's met individually with
- 19:29Speaker 14: some of our coaches. So we've had the necessary support
- 19:32Speaker 14: from leadership and it's really really mattered.
- 19:35Speaker 5: So I'm glad you brought that up.
- 19:36Speaker 14: At the end of the day, if you don't have
- 19:38Speaker 14: that type of support, that dialogue and that sort of
- 19:41Speaker 14: just everybody all in, especially with what's happening as you
- 19:45Speaker 14: know in college athletics, now is not the time to
- 19:47Speaker 14: be sitting in silos. Now is the time where everybody
- 19:51Speaker 14: is grinding together and putting our very best the middle
- 19:54Speaker 14: of the table to say what do we do long
- 19:56Speaker 14: term for what's in the best.
- 19:58Speaker 5: Interest of Texas A and M.
- 19:59Speaker 14: And that's exactly what happened in this process and it
- 20:02Speaker 14: made me feel again. It even affirmed more that this
- 20:06Speaker 14: is the right place for the future. This place can
- 20:09Speaker 14: become whatever it wants to become, and that's pretty exciting
- 20:13Speaker 14: to be.
- 20:13Speaker 5: A part of that.
- 20:14Speaker 17: Of course, there's reports out there that Elko would have
- 20:16Speaker 17: been on some wish lists of some different schools, where
- 20:18Speaker 17: you ever approached by any of their schools to talk
- 20:20Speaker 17: to him? And how much did any of that play
- 20:22Speaker 17: into trying to make sure this got done.
- 20:23Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 20:24Speaker 5: No, I was never approached by anybody.
- 20:25Speaker 14: And this was not a reflection of us doing an
- 20:29Speaker 14: extension with Mike Elko to try to play defense from
- 20:32Speaker 14: other folks trying to hire our coach. This is a
- 20:34Speaker 14: reflection that it didn't take us very long to watch
- 20:37Speaker 14: what Mike has done for the program to recognize that
- 20:41Speaker 14: this is exactly the leader that Texas A and M
- 20:45Speaker 14: needs to take this program to place as it's never
- 20:48Speaker 14: been okay, And so when I look at a lot
- 20:50Speaker 14: of different things, First of all, he really wants to
- 20:53Speaker 14: be here, and that may not seem like much, but
- 20:56Speaker 14: that's really really important. Nobody's a hostage here, right Like,
- 21:00Speaker 14: he really wants to be here. So all of the
- 21:02Speaker 14: things that makes Texas a and m unique he embraces,
- 21:06Speaker 14: which I think is wonderful, he and Michelle and their
- 21:08Speaker 14: entire family.
- 21:09Speaker 5: But it's the other pieces. And so what I think
- 21:13Speaker 5: a lot.
- 21:13Speaker 14: About is and I've said this maybe a little bit before,
- 21:16Speaker 14: but you know, I really believe the job of a
- 21:19Speaker 14: head football coach at this level in college is just
- 21:22Speaker 14: way different than it was fifteen to twenty years ago.
- 21:25Speaker 14: So the profile of a coach that perhaps would have
- 21:27Speaker 14: been very successful, you know yesteryear, may struggle today.
- 21:32Speaker 5: And I believe that Mike has a skill set today.
- 21:36Speaker 5: You guys, you talked to you today about the margins.
- 21:38Speaker 5: He's very slim margins.
- 21:40Speaker 14: And I think it takes a special person who understands
- 21:44Speaker 14: things like complementary football, time of possession, like flipping the field,
- 21:49Speaker 14: all those little hidden yardages within the course of a game,
- 21:52Speaker 14: and the culture and all those things.
- 21:53Speaker 5: And a lot of coaches have that.
- 21:54Speaker 14: I'm not saying that Mike's the only one, but Mike
- 21:56Speaker 14: has it in space, and so I think, you know,
- 22:00Speaker 14: for me, it was this is the right coach. This
- 22:04Speaker 14: is the person that we need leading this program for
- 22:06Speaker 14: a long time, and we need stability and but but yeah.
- 22:09Speaker 5: I mean it's it's not lost on me.
- 22:11Speaker 14: This is about as wild of a coaching carousel as
- 22:14Speaker 14: I think we've ever had in college athletics. And now
- 22:17Speaker 14: I think Cal has an opening as well. Right, so
- 22:19Speaker 14: when you think about the number of jobs, I would
- 22:22Speaker 14: just tell you I'm not sure that there's enough coaches
- 22:24Speaker 14: to fill all these jobs, right, And so we have
- 22:27Speaker 14: an awesome coach.
- 22:28Speaker 5: We have a coach that.
- 22:29Speaker 14: Fits our culture spectacularly, and we're just privileged that he
- 22:34Speaker 14: and Michelle decided to make this home for a long time.
- 22:37Speaker 15: We'll stay on the front road of Carter Treuv.
- 22:40Speaker 18: What did you make of what Elko wanted for his
- 22:43Speaker 18: assistance and what do you think that will do for
- 22:45Speaker 18: the program? Just kind of the resources, not just for him,
- 22:48Speaker 18: but for everyone else too.
- 22:49Speaker 5: Well.
- 22:49Speaker 14: I think it says a lot about his character. I
- 22:51Speaker 14: think about it says a lot about who he is
- 22:53Speaker 14: as a person. You know, Mike's not about Mike. Mike
- 22:58Speaker 14: is about Texas A and M in Texas A and
- 23:00Speaker 14: M football. That's a really important thing. And I really
- 23:03Speaker 14: appreciate that about Mike. Travis to your earlier question, you know,
- 23:07Speaker 14: in light of this scenario, we had a lot of drama, right,
- 23:12Speaker 14: the thing I said a lot about Mike and who
- 23:14Speaker 14: he is as a man that we didn't engage in that, and.
- 23:17Speaker 5: I really respect him for that.
- 23:19Speaker 14: So, look, he cares deeply about the people that touches
- 23:23Speaker 14: the football program, and I think it says a lot.
- 23:28Speaker 14: Like you know, I think about this a lot, but
- 23:30Speaker 14: the price of success will always be less than the
- 23:32Speaker 14: price of failure, right, And so if you believe you
- 23:35Speaker 14: have the right people to lead, then you surround them
- 23:40Speaker 14: with as much support and care as you possibly can.
- 23:43Speaker 14: And I think Mike has that same philosophy. Again, it
- 23:45Speaker 14: feels like I'm speaking for me. I'm not trying to
- 23:46Speaker 14: speak for Mike, but just from my perspective and watching
- 23:50Speaker 14: I think that sort of action sort of displays the
- 23:53Speaker 14: same type of thinking, right, And so.
- 23:55Speaker 5: We got the right coaches.
- 23:56Speaker 14: The point now is let's make sure that they have
- 23:59Speaker 14: what they need to win at a level that's demanded
- 24:02Speaker 14: by the twelfth Man, and that's the effort.
- 24:05Speaker 18: Do you think with maybe the buy out put in
- 24:07Speaker 18: place and everything else, that it'll maybe keep future programs
- 24:11Speaker 18: from you know, wanting to poach them or being able
- 24:14Speaker 18: to poach them.
- 24:15Speaker 14: Well, you know who knows. Again, like I said earlier,
- 24:18Speaker 14: you only want people who want to be here. Obviously,
- 24:22Speaker 14: buyouts are part of that, right, Like we're making a
- 24:24Speaker 14: significant investment into a head football coach.
- 24:27Speaker 5: We do that with all of our coaches.
- 24:28Speaker 14: They do the same thing with me, and so when
- 24:30Speaker 14: you have that type of investment, there has to be
- 24:32Speaker 14: some sort of protection on that. But again, at the
- 24:34Speaker 14: end of the day, I think what's really important is
- 24:37Speaker 14: this is a unique place. Every place is unique, and
- 24:39Speaker 14: you want people that really want to be here, and
- 24:42Speaker 14: Mike wants to be here, and we're grateful for it.
- 24:45Speaker 14: We're really blessed and fortunate to Mike elco Is our
- 24:47Speaker 14: football coach.
- 24:48Speaker 15: We'll go second row on the right side to Brian.
- 24:51Speaker 15: Try it first.
- 24:51Speaker 19: An easy one is any part of the negotiations did
- 24:54Speaker 19: you commit more money to the nil pool for football.
- 24:57Speaker 14: No, we really never talked about I've read a lot
- 25:00Speaker 14: of reports about commitments to nil and a lot of
- 25:04Speaker 14: the reports that I've read, I'm not sure.
- 25:06Speaker 5: I'm not sure that that's legal or at least the
- 25:09Speaker 5: way it lays out.
- 25:10Speaker 14: The point is only this all Mike and I talk
- 25:12Speaker 14: about is he and I am, and we are is
- 25:16Speaker 14: Texas A and m committed to making sure that we're
- 25:19Speaker 14: doing everything we can to have the resources necessary to
- 25:21Speaker 14: compete at the highest level. Of course, that's our commitment.
- 25:25Speaker 14: I understand the importance of football here. I understand that
- 25:28Speaker 14: football drives all of the athletic department in terms of
- 25:31Speaker 14: our economic future and.
- 25:32Speaker 5: All of that.
- 25:33Speaker 14: So we will make whatever is necessary in terms of
- 25:37Speaker 14: investment with football to ensure that Mike Elco has the
- 25:40Speaker 14: tools he needs and his staff to be successful.
- 25:43Speaker 5: And then kind of a bigger picture question.
- 25:45Speaker 19: I mean, when you were at Nebraska, I mean, that's
- 25:47Speaker 19: the only show in town, right, It's the only game going, right.
- 25:50Speaker 19: You come here, and you know, for many, many years
- 25:53Speaker 19: there was an obsession with, well, what's happening in Austin.
- 25:57Speaker 19: We got to match that or do that or whatever.
- 25:59Speaker 19: And it's sort of feels like that that has gone away,
- 26:02Speaker 19: you know, Mike driving that Mike doesn't really talk about
- 26:05Speaker 19: Texas and all that, and do you feel like that
- 26:07Speaker 19: from administration, from hager On down, there's finally a feeling
- 26:12Speaker 19: of how to become the best version of Texas A
- 26:15Speaker 19: and M and not worry about what anybody else is doing.
- 26:17Speaker 5: Yeah, well, I'm glad you brought that up too.
- 26:19Speaker 14: Look, I have a tremendous amount of respect for Chris
- 26:22Speaker 14: del Conte, my colleague at.
- 26:23Speaker 5: Texas, and they've done an outstanding job.
- 26:26Speaker 14: I had the privilege of getting to compete in some
- 26:28Speaker 14: of these rivalries, right, I mean, we played Oklahoma every
- 26:30Speaker 14: year and for us that was a really big rivalry.
- 26:33Speaker 14: And I think the thing you learn is if you
- 26:35Speaker 14: spend all of your time there's that famous thing on
- 26:38Speaker 14: X now.
- 26:38Speaker 5: I think it's Michael Phelps and his.
- 26:40Speaker 14: Chief competitor, where Michael Phelps is swimming straight ahead and
- 26:44Speaker 14: the competitor's looking at him, and winners focus on winners,
- 26:46Speaker 14: Losers focus on winners. Right, that's a caption. At the
- 26:49Speaker 14: end of the day, our job is no, not worry
- 26:51Speaker 14: about anybody else. Our job is to become the best
- 26:53Speaker 14: Texas A and then that we can and by the way,
- 26:55Speaker 14: we have plenty of hard work to do to become
- 26:58Speaker 14: great at Texas A and M. We don't have to
- 26:59Speaker 14: worry about anybody else. So these rivalries are awesome for
- 27:03Speaker 14: college athletics. What makes college athletics. We have a tremendous
- 27:07Speaker 14: amount of respect for all that they've done. But yeah,
- 27:09Speaker 14: we're really not focused on anybody but ourselves.
- 27:12Speaker 15: We'll go second row on the left side to Alex.
- 27:14Speaker 17: A little bit of a different note, just curious how
- 27:16Speaker 17: your soccer coach search is going and just kind of
- 27:18Speaker 17: what you're looking for.
- 27:19Speaker 5: I saw you applied, and I appreciate you applying.
- 27:23Speaker 14: You're down on the list right now, but we're going
- 27:24Speaker 14: to keep knowing it's going well. Obviously, you're right, you
- 27:28Speaker 14: have a job to do in spite of all the
- 27:29Speaker 14: other things. And so I'm really fortunate again to have
- 27:33Speaker 14: a great team around me, and so we're working through
- 27:36Speaker 14: that process. Obviously the soccer season still going, but we're
- 27:39Speaker 14: very confident we're going to be able to hire a really,
- 27:42Speaker 14: really great soccer coach to take over for coach G
- 27:44Speaker 14: And I should say, and I know many of you
- 27:46Speaker 14: have a relationship with him, and what he invested here
- 27:49Speaker 14: and what he accomplished here is pretty remarkable. So We're
- 27:52Speaker 14: grateful for him, and he has left this soccer program
- 27:55Speaker 14: here at Texas A and M in great shape, and
- 27:58Speaker 14: so we're gonna have an opportunity, I believe, great, great interest,
- 28:01Speaker 14: and we'll hire a great.
- 28:02Speaker 3: Coach, that's Trev Alberts. If we have time.
- 28:04Speaker 1: We'll hear a little bit more from him tomorrow on
- 28:08Speaker 1: the program coming up. Armajorie Adams spoke with reporters today.
- 28:14Speaker 3: We'll hear some of that. We're going to hear from
- 28:17Speaker 3: Chris Young.
- 28:18Speaker 1: The president of baseball operations of the Texas Rangers, on
- 28:23Speaker 1: his decision to trade Marcus Simeon to the Mets for
- 28:28Speaker 1: Brandon Neimo. Brandon Nimmo, the outfielder, a beloved player for
- 28:35Speaker 1: the Mets, by the way, and we'll hear the process
- 28:40Speaker 1: on that, the process of getting rid of Adulis, Garcia,
- 28:44Speaker 1: Joonah Him, Josh Bores. It is going to be a
- 28:48Speaker 1: new team, not necessarily bad, we'll see, but there's plenty
- 28:56Speaker 1: of holes to fill them, plenty of things for Chris
- 29:00Speaker 1: Young to be occupied during this off season. And we're
- 29:05Speaker 1: gonna hear from Sark in the second hour sep Check
- 29:10Speaker 1: Service Center. I talked to Pat this afternoon and here's

- 32:16Speaker 1: We do not have a high school report today due
- 32:20Speaker 1: to Sports Talk failure, but we will have one on
- 32:25Speaker 1: next Tuesday. In the meantime, we're going to hear from
- 32:28Speaker 1: Rangers President of Baseball Operations Chris Young.
- 32:34Speaker 23: Hey, Chris, I guess you just walk us through kind
- 32:38Speaker 23: of how this trade materialized. I know, what's the GM
- 32:40Speaker 23: meetings you mentioned. You know, it wasn't your goal to
- 32:43Speaker 23: come into this offseason.
- 32:44Speaker 5: And and move you.
- 32:46Speaker 23: Know, one of your bigger contracts, one of your your
- 32:48Speaker 23: bigger players. Kind of how did this happen and what
- 32:51Speaker 23: made you know this trade a specific fit for you guys?
- 32:56Speaker 24: Yeah, Sean, the trade sort of developed over the last
- 33:00Speaker 24: couple of weeks as we had our normal check ins
- 33:04Speaker 24: really with every club about our off season priorities and goals,
- 33:09Speaker 24: and you know, hearing from the Mets what they were
- 33:11Speaker 24: looking to accomplish, and then kind of brainstorming and talking
- 33:15Speaker 24: through concepts that may work for both sides. And as
- 33:18Speaker 24: we you know, talk through this conceptually over the last
- 33:22Speaker 24: several weeks, I think it started to make sense for
- 33:26Speaker 24: both parties, and then we had to find common ground
- 33:28Speaker 24: in terms of, you know, what the value of the
- 33:31Speaker 24: deal is and and UH. In the end, we were
- 33:33Speaker 24: able to to land on a spot that we felt
- 33:36Speaker 24: like was fair and and good for both sides and UH.
- 33:40Speaker 24: And so that's how it materialized in terms of why
- 33:43Speaker 24: we felt it was necessary. Obviously, you know, the last
- 33:46Speaker 24: couple of years, our offensive performance has not been where
- 33:50Speaker 24: we needed it to be. We we made a decision
- 33:53Speaker 24: a few days ago on Adolas Garcia, uh, in terms
- 33:56Speaker 24: of non tendering him, and we felt like part of
- 33:59Speaker 24: our all season objectives is to get back to being
- 34:02Speaker 24: a team that really has one through nine very high
- 34:07Speaker 24: quality at bats, and Brandon Neimo offers that Brandon Nemo
- 34:11Speaker 24: is a very very tough at bat. He's a grinder.
- 34:15Speaker 24: He is a very smart, intelligent player, well prepared, knows
- 34:20Speaker 24: how to work in it bat, work in opposing pitcher,
- 34:22Speaker 24: and we feel like fits the profile of player that
- 34:24Speaker 24: is going to be very very good for our lineup.
- 34:26Speaker 24: And so, you know, it was a tough decision to
- 34:29Speaker 24: move on from Marcus. Obviously, we're giving up something in
- 34:31Speaker 24: second base, but we felt like we could backfill that
- 34:34Speaker 24: internally or potentially externally if the right opportunity is there.
- 34:38Speaker 24: But adding Nemo to our lineup in our outfield, we
- 34:41Speaker 24: felt like gives us one of the better outfields in
- 34:44Speaker 24: the big leagues with Wyatt, Langford, Evan Carter and Brandon Nemo.
- 34:48Speaker 25: Thank Chris, Jeff Wilson, hik, Chris, So, Brandon Nemo is
- 34:56Speaker 25: now your right fielder.
- 34:58Speaker 5: Is that correct?
- 34:59Speaker 24: Yeah, Jeff, we're not one hundred percent committed to that.
- 35:01Speaker 24: I think it's likely where he'll play, but that's conversations
- 35:04Speaker 24: that we'll have with Brandon, with Skip, with Wyatt and
- 35:07Speaker 24: and really making sure that we understand all aspects of
- 35:11Speaker 24: this and where they're most comfortable. And but but I
- 35:14Speaker 24: do think we have three very good, talented, very talented outfielders,
- 35:18Speaker 24: you know, at the outset. I think it's likely Brandon plays, right,
- 35:21Speaker 24: But I think that's a further conversation.
- 35:23Speaker 5: Okay.
- 35:24Speaker 25: And and then you mentioned the internal guys. Do you
- 35:28Speaker 25: have a pecking order for or is it a mixture
- 35:33Speaker 25: of Josh Smith, Cody Freeman, Zekial duran or maybe somebody
- 35:37Speaker 25: else I'm leaving out.
- 35:38Speaker 24: Yeah, I think that I think there's actually beyond that, Jeff,
- 35:40Speaker 24: And and no, there is no pecking order. This is
- 35:42Speaker 24: a right now. It stands as a competition. I think
- 35:45Speaker 24: competition for the roster is a wonderful thing. And uh,
- 35:48Speaker 24: you know, Josh Smith, Zeke Durant, Cody Freeman, Sam Haggerty,
- 35:53Speaker 24: Michael Hellman all can play second base, all can play
- 35:56Speaker 24: the infield. And so you know we're looking at right now.
- 35:59Speaker 24: I think certainly you know it's wide open, and these
- 36:04Speaker 24: guys all have opportunities to come into camp hungry and
- 36:08Speaker 24: to win a job.
- 36:10Speaker 5: Yeah. And then.
- 36:13Speaker 25: I mean, in the last four days, you guys have
- 36:16Speaker 25: parted with two guys who were three guys who are
- 36:19Speaker 25: four guys who are instrumental in the World Series. I know,
- 36:22Speaker 25: it's a business. Is how difficult were these decisions though,
- 36:27Speaker 25: based on the memories that they helped create.
- 36:32Speaker 5: Yeah, Jeff, it's extremely difficult.
- 36:34Speaker 24: And I don't want that to get lost in this
- 36:36Speaker 24: because these are really really tough decisions. And Ross and
- 36:40Speaker 24: I and other members of the front office have had
- 36:42Speaker 24: you know, really sleepless nights over the last you know,
- 36:45Speaker 24: week to ten days as we've contemplated these decisions, and
- 36:48Speaker 24: ultimately we're tasked with doing things that we feel like
- 36:52Speaker 24: are in the best interest of the organization moving forward
- 36:54Speaker 24: and putting a winning team together, and a winning team
- 36:56Speaker 24: that fits a style of play that is necessary for
- 36:59Speaker 24: us to win with our manager, with our personnel that
- 37:03Speaker 24: we have, and in a ballpark that you know, has
- 37:05Speaker 24: played a little bit differently. And so you know, it's
- 37:08Speaker 24: not lost on us what these players accomplished and their
- 37:11Speaker 24: connection to our fans, and it's it's really really hard
- 37:14Speaker 24: to make these calls knowing that we're going to upset people.
- 37:17Speaker 24: And I hate that because our fans, you know, matter
- 37:20Speaker 24: immensely to us. I've said it before, my connection to
- 37:23Speaker 24: this community in this fan base, and so I don't
- 37:26Speaker 24: take that lightly, but I do think that we are
- 37:29Speaker 24: focused on winning moving forward. The last two years have
- 37:32Speaker 24: been very difficult as we feel like we have not
- 37:34Speaker 24: lived up to our expectations. And when you don't need expectations,
- 37:38Speaker 24: you have to make tough calls and that's part of this.
- 37:41Speaker 25: Thank you, Chris Kennedy.
- 37:45Speaker 15: Jeff asks all my questions.
- 37:50Speaker 25: Okay, Steven, I just want to ask.
- 37:53Speaker 26: I mean, we all are were aware what Marcus said
- 37:56Speaker 26: late in the season kind of raised some eyebrows and
- 37:58Speaker 26: he said he kind of knew what kind of team
- 38:00Speaker 26: he wanted to play for, and it raised question to some.
- 38:01Speaker 6: People on what he met. Did you ever talk to
- 38:03Speaker 6: him about that and get you get an idea of
- 38:06Speaker 6: what he really meant.
- 38:07Speaker 24: Yeah, and look, when Marcus said that, I don't think
- 38:09Speaker 24: the full context was really considered Marcus. Marcus has a
- 38:13Speaker 24: tremendous heart and Marcus wants to win. And sometimes when
- 38:17Speaker 24: you know sound bites are said, they can be misinterpreted.
- 38:22Speaker 24: I you know, we did get clarity from Marcus what
- 38:24Speaker 24: he meant by that, and it had nothing to do
- 38:26Speaker 24: with not wanting to be here and not believing in
- 38:28Speaker 24: the Texas Rangers, and that had no bearing whatsoever in
- 38:31Speaker 24: our decision. This was a straight baseball decision. Marcus Simians
- 38:35Speaker 24: a champion player, and like I said, we'll always be
- 38:39Speaker 24: grateful for what he's achieved and accomplished.

- 41:18Speaker 30: Head coach Timiko Ryan spoke on this week's episode of
- 41:21Speaker 30: Texans All Access about what makes this Colts team so tough.
- 41:24Speaker 12: Their offense is is operated very efficiently. They've been very
- 41:28Speaker 12: explosive Pierce. I don't think he talks about enough like
- 41:31Speaker 12: he's the down the field, targets, the deep shots.
- 41:35Speaker 6: Then you have the.
- 41:35Speaker 12: Running game Withhijnothan Taylor. He's always been one of the
- 41:39Speaker 12: top backs in our league just for his explosiveness his
- 41:42Speaker 12: home run playmaking ability, and I think Daniel Jones is
- 41:46Speaker 12: playing the best that he's played like in his career.
- 41:48Speaker 30: The Indianapolis Colts boasts the top scoring offense in the NFL,
- 41:51Speaker 30: averaging thirty one points per game, while the Texans had
- 41:54Speaker 30: the second best scoring defense in the NFL, allowing fewer
- 41:57Speaker 30: than seventeen points per game. A huge measuring stick game

- 43:51Speaker 13: the snow.
- 43:52Speaker 4: But that's not what I came to tell you about.
- 43:59Speaker 4: In the top about the draft. You got a building
- 44:04Speaker 4: down New York City.
- 44:05Speaker 13: It's called Whitehall Street where you walk in and you
- 44:08Speaker 13: get injected, inspected, detaxed, infected, and neglected and see lected.
- 44:17Speaker 13: I went down and got my physical examination one day,
- 44:20Speaker 13: and I walked in and sat down, got good and drunk,
- 44:23Speaker 13: and afterfore so I looked and felt my best when
- 44:26Speaker 13: I went in that morning, because I wanted to look
- 44:29Speaker 13: like the all American kid from New York City.
- 44:31Speaker 4: Man, I wanted.
- 44:32Speaker 13: I wanted to feel like all I wanted to be
- 44:35Speaker 13: the all American kid from New York. And I walked in,
- 44:38Speaker 13: sat down, I was hung down, brung down.
- 44:40Speaker 4: Hung up, and all towns of mean, nasty, ugly.
- 44:43Speaker 3: Things lucome back. Thanks for being with us.
- 44:48Speaker 1: I don't think we play this song enough foreign. You know,
- 44:52Speaker 1: sometimes there are like winter songs, are Christmas music, songs
- 44:56Speaker 1: that aren't necessarily Christmas carols that that we say we
- 44:58Speaker 1: should play.
- 44:59Speaker 3: That all your life on.
- 45:00Speaker 1: That's the one probably we should play all year long,
- 45:03Speaker 1: for sure, all Right, we're gonna hear from our march
- 45:07Speaker 1: Reid Adams he is, uh getting ready to take on
- 45:13Speaker 1: the Longhorns on Friday night in Austin.
- 45:18Speaker 10: For itself this week, just how does it feel to
- 45:19Speaker 10: be here and just see the emotion going into a
- 45:22Speaker 10: rivaly again like this with what's at stake?
- 45:24Speaker 6: It feels good.
- 45:25Speaker 26: You know, it's the big it's the biggest game of
- 45:27Speaker 26: the season because it's the next game of the season.
- 45:29Speaker 6: So we're gonna do every day that we've been doing.
- 45:32Speaker 26: Shame you know, there's no added pressure to us, for real.
- 45:35Speaker 26: It's just it's a robbery game. So it's a little
- 45:38Speaker 26: bit more hatred, a little bit more emotion, and a
- 45:40Speaker 26: little bit more attitude. So we just gonna try to
- 45:42Speaker 26: control that, stay in the greenhouse and you know, do
- 45:45Speaker 26: what we're supposed to do, because that's all that matters.
- 45:47Speaker 32: How do y'all run effectively against the team like Texas
- 45:49Speaker 32: that's at least statistically pretty.
- 45:52Speaker 26: Good on one defense, Yeah, statistically they are, So just
- 45:56Speaker 26: challenge them, uh uh, you know, try to single out
- 46:00Speaker 26: a few players and you know, take our matchups with
- 46:02Speaker 26: where we can and and then just honestly winning.
- 46:05Speaker 6: I went on ones.
- 46:06Speaker 26: Uh, that's the little main goal of our UH group
- 46:08Speaker 26: to UH this week. Because they do a lot of stuff,
- 46:11Speaker 26: they'll isolate a lot of players.
- 46:12Speaker 6: So just winning I want on ones.
- 46:14Speaker 4: So or if you've ask you this before in the
- 46:16Speaker 4: pastor where did where did the chair come from?
- 46:18Speaker 6: And what?
- 46:18Speaker 13: What?
- 46:18Speaker 1: Uh?
- 46:18Speaker 17: How? How how you are you in the UH interested?
- 46:25Speaker 4: Is it that how as much is taken on.
- 46:29Speaker 26: The chair came from just uh something that MafA used
- 46:33Speaker 26: to help us UH get hyped for upcoming game.
- 46:36Speaker 6: First of appointed that.
- 46:37Speaker 26: We had that week and uh it's just a mentality
- 46:41Speaker 26: that we had that whole week after he did it.
- 46:43Speaker 6: So UH some just.
- 46:44Speaker 26: Told me, uh run out with the chair and then
- 46:47Speaker 26: we started winning and added stickers to it, so it
- 46:48Speaker 26: can't go away the.
- 46:50Speaker 25: Chairs running out of room for stick ers. Ya got
- 46:51Speaker 25: y'all got room for one more.
- 46:53Speaker 26: Uh definitely got a room for fomo.
- 46:56Speaker 33: What do you think at Oco smash it up?
- 46:58Speaker 6: Yeah? That was a that was a crazy moment, right, Yeah.
- 47:00Speaker 26: I mean it's just cultivation of our UH y you know,
- 47:03Speaker 26: everything we do, our UH community here, our UH teammates
- 47:06Speaker 26: and our coaches. We all in the line. So it's
- 47:09Speaker 26: pretty cool to see one you know join in on
- 47:10Speaker 26: the train.
- 47:11Speaker 32: Do you think all the guys who are from out
- 47:12Speaker 32: of state and even have the country on the team
- 47:15Speaker 32: understand what uh this rivalry means to maybe some of
- 47:19Speaker 32: the I if not some of the players would takes.
- 47:21Speaker 26: But you know the fans here, of course, you know,
- 47:24Speaker 26: they come in to this program understanding everything that we
- 47:28Speaker 26: trying to accomplish. It's not just just because we from
- 47:32Speaker 26: here we understand it. It's because we in this program.
- 47:34Speaker 26: We understand it because we have a great culture here
- 47:37Speaker 26: and a great unit, great unity. So uh yeah, I'm
- 47:40Speaker 26: pretty sure they understand what's the state here?
- 47:42Speaker 6: You guys talk about the mantra was finished this year,
- 47:44Speaker 6: you're eleven to zero heading until the final week.
- 47:45Speaker 1: How vindicating is it to say, like, hey, everything we
- 47:48Speaker 1: said we could do, we did it.
- 47:49Speaker 26: Well, the job's not done yet. We ain't did everything
- 47:52Speaker 26: we said we can do yet, So job's not done.
- 47:54Speaker 5: Everybody talks about the culture here, especially this season.
- 47:57Speaker 4: How much do you feel like that's it's different from
- 47:59Speaker 4: your prime.
- 48:00Speaker 26: Another teams, your family It's different here because uh, it
- 48:04Speaker 26: just means more, Uh everything, every detail, every month, my
- 48:08Speaker 26: new thing, it just means more here. And we got
- 48:10Speaker 26: the ability to accomplish everything that everybody in the comfi
- 48:14Speaker 26: uh country want to accomplish.
- 48:15Speaker 6: So it just give us a little bit of extra
- 48:16Speaker 6: motivation as.
- 48:18Speaker 25: One of the vocal leaders on this team.
- 48:19Speaker 24: How do you how do you channel emotions correctly in
- 48:21Speaker 24: a rivalry league game like this where you don't necessarily
- 48:23Speaker 24: play emotional out on the field.
- 48:25Speaker 26: Uh huh uh it starts with a build a relationship
- 48:27Speaker 26: with your teammates and know and what get them going
- 48:29Speaker 26: and what calms them down. But a lot of these
- 48:31Speaker 26: guys here are built for uh wars, built for these
- 48:34Speaker 26: type of games. So like I already know, like, uh,
- 48:38Speaker 26: we might have to calm people down instead of pick
- 48:40Speaker 26: people up this week, but uh just doing a good
- 48:42Speaker 26: job of m uh reminding people, you know, don't get
- 48:44Speaker 26: too how it get too don't get too low, stay
- 48:46Speaker 26: level headed until uh it's our zeros.
- 48:48Speaker 6: On the clock and we up by a hundred you.
- 48:50Speaker 33: Uh it said earlier, uh before the year, like you
- 48:53Speaker 33: guys wanted to be the Joe Moore Award winners and
- 48:56Speaker 33: Yard City finalists probably gonna be finalists. I think, why
- 49:00Speaker 33: should this team be the uh early sool ligne dealer
- 49:03Speaker 33: that you're more work or.
- 49:04Speaker 26: Winner, uh for starters, you know, for for office alignment,
- 49:08Speaker 26: physicality is a uh one of the highest things on board.
- 49:12Speaker 26: And I feel like we the most physical and most
- 49:14Speaker 26: dominant offensive line unit in the country, not just uh
- 49:17Speaker 26: each position, but as a unit, we do it better
- 49:20Speaker 26: than everybody else. And then our attentions to detail the
- 49:24Speaker 26: schemes we run, we good and we can run any
- 49:26Speaker 26: type of scheme zone gap, uh downhill, and we pass
- 49:30Speaker 26: p take so.
- 49:32Speaker 6: N we don't give up sacks.
- 49:33Speaker 26: So like everything you want from a elite office a line,
- 49:36Speaker 26: we check off the list.
- 49:37Speaker 6: Now we just gotta check off to Joe more.
- 49:39Speaker 18: You don't have guys have been so deep playing eight
- 49:42Speaker 18: sometimes either nine alignment.
- 49:44Speaker 5: Uh what benefits for you?
- 49:46Speaker 33: Cause you you'll come off for entire drives, Like what
- 49:49Speaker 33: benefits you feel like it gives the whole group and
- 49:51Speaker 33: then also for you.
- 49:52Speaker 26: They give us confidence to know that, uh, this next
- 49:55Speaker 26: guy up and then we can't still do whatever we
- 49:58Speaker 26: needs to do no matter who we onna fiel it.
- 50:00Speaker 26: Just I command everybody in their room, cause I know
- 50:03Speaker 26: that's not what everybody wanna do, and but we gets
- 50:06Speaker 26: the job doing so UH keep us fresh and keep
- 50:08Speaker 26: us going, and it keep us uh paying attention to
- 50:11Speaker 26: the details cause we know that the next guy behind
- 50:13Speaker 26: us can play at any at school in SEC.
- 50:17Speaker 33: To make you feel fresher than maybe your previous seasons
- 50:20Speaker 33: in Kansas where you probably playing every play the.
- 50:22Speaker 26: Game, Yeah, I I I it don't phaze me pretty much.
- 50:26Speaker 26: I've been doing this a lot, but yeah, I I
- 50:28Speaker 26: can see just few things on my body after the
- 50:31Speaker 26: end of the games, being a little fresher.
- 50:33Speaker 13: Do you practice it's one of your first memories of
- 50:36Speaker 13: this pride Over year.
- 50:37Speaker 15: Did you happen me early on memory?
- 50:39Speaker 6: Uh? Yeah, uh? Uh.
- 50:41Speaker 26: He was my on line coach at the point of time,
- 50:43Speaker 26: Coach Grohm's he was a uh offensive line here, offensive
- 50:46Speaker 26: lineman here just to photo the iconic photo of him
- 50:49Speaker 26: standing in front of the Texas player and just yelling
- 50:51Speaker 26: and cussing, and uh I always uh j talked and
- 50:55Speaker 26: joke to him about it, and we talked about this
- 50:57Speaker 26: game before it just uh that was one of my
- 50:59Speaker 26: f his memory and then that awful kick.
- 51:03Speaker 32: If I have a lot of things to play for,
- 51:05Speaker 32: uh obviously try to get to the SEC championship game
- 51:08Speaker 32: and to robbery you know, the the the the the playoffs,
- 51:11Speaker 32: stuff like that. But I also wonder do y'all ever
- 51:14Speaker 32: hear among yourself have much conversation about you know, Marcel
- 51:17Speaker 32: and this heis and raise and things like that, and
- 51:19Speaker 32: then if you do, what kind of discussion is it?
- 51:22Speaker 26: Oh yeah, in the office aligning room is Uh, we
- 51:24Speaker 26: got on a mission project get Morselle to Heisman.
- 51:27Speaker 6: So just like if we just do our job and
- 51:30Speaker 6: keep him clean, he gonna do it hisself.
- 51:31Speaker 26: So it it ain't no real conversation, cause we already know,
- 51:33Speaker 26: like if we out there on the field and Marcel
- 51:36Speaker 26: out there, he got a chance to win every award
- 51:37Speaker 26: in the country.
- 51:38Speaker 4: This game means a lot to a lot of you.
- 51:40Speaker 15: But what does it mean to train?
- 51:43Speaker 26: It means a lot to trade. You know, he's been
- 51:45Speaker 26: the starting tackle, uh, you know, the pillar at this
- 51:48Speaker 26: offense for a long time. And uh, just having this
- 51:50Speaker 26: conversation with the tray a minute ago, just telling him
- 51:52Speaker 26: how much I appreciate him, how much he does for
- 51:55Speaker 26: us and me personally. Uh just allow me to uh
- 51:58Speaker 26: have a voice in here, cause he being the leader
- 52:00Speaker 26: here for uh since he got here. So it's it
- 52:03Speaker 26: means a lot to trade. Uh just being able to
- 52:06Speaker 26: fill up that ring box.
- 52:07Speaker 4: You know, if you still got that upside down long
- 52:09Speaker 4: corner in his room.
- 52:10Speaker 6: I'm pretty sure he does. I'm pretty sure he does.
- 52:12Speaker 4: Yeah, it's been a while.
- 52:13Speaker 19: Some team that's been to a conference type of people
- 52:14Speaker 19: what it mean to be a part of the.
- 52:16Speaker 12: Team that that got them back there.
- 52:17Speaker 26: I mean it's al I mean it's a lot, But
- 52:19Speaker 26: we don't really talk about what A and them have
- 52:21Speaker 26: it done, cause like we wasn't here or alive when
- 52:24Speaker 26: they were doing it, So, uh, we don't really ocur.
- 52:26Speaker 6: It's just this team this season and what we got ahead.
- 52:29Speaker 32: Uh.
- 52:29Speaker 26: I feel like we can be the first team just
- 52:32Speaker 26: because we the first people to be on this team.
- 52:34Speaker 6: It's at this time.
- 52:35Speaker 33: So is there anything from the game last season that's
- 52:37Speaker 33: stuck with you from a revenge standpoint?
- 52:40Speaker 6: Maybe that you guys were able to.
- 52:42Speaker 26: Do or uh few things, but we gonna get a handled.
- 52:47Speaker 26: I don't wanna t speak on nobody.
- 52:49Speaker 5: You have happened to the more uh uh players stomping
- 52:52Speaker 5: on the field.
- 52:53Speaker 6: After the game. Yeah, I I you know, cowvich do
- 52:56Speaker 6: what cows do?
- 52:58Speaker 17: How Go said he didn't have to tell you gots
- 53:00Speaker 17: too much this week to get up.
- 53:01Speaker 6: But what was his message?
- 53:03Speaker 26: You got nothing? He just put uh Texas A and
- 53:05Speaker 26: M versus Texas. That's how he put on a s board.
- 53:08Speaker 26: It's we we twelve, That's how he had to put
- 53:10Speaker 26: on the board cause we got everything in front of us.
- 53:13Speaker 26: You know, we playing for the championships, We playing for rings,
- 53:16Speaker 26: So he coulda put anybody on the board and we
- 53:18Speaker 26: woulda been.
- 53:19Speaker 6: Up for it.
- 53:20Speaker 25: What gives you the most confidence that you guys can
- 53:22Speaker 25: add that last sticker to the chair this week.
- 53:24Speaker 26: Our preparation, our attention to detail, our ends and out
- 53:29Speaker 26: and it's starting from uh not foul camp. But since
- 53:32Speaker 26: we lost the uh the game and uh vegas like
- 53:36Speaker 26: every step of the way, we been uh really hitting
- 53:39Speaker 26: it hard and uh paying attention to every detail and
- 53:42Speaker 26: trying to check everything out the list and we done
- 53:44Speaker 26: it so far, so just keep going.
- 53:46Speaker 4: How coho was this for your mom? Looking then aff.
- 53:49Speaker 6: An the like pretty cool?
- 53:50Speaker 26: You know the uh we kind of recreated a f
- 53:53Speaker 26: picture that uh they took when they was kids.
- 53:56Speaker 6: Uh so pretty cool. On senior day we got to
- 53:59Speaker 6: do that. It means a lot.
- 54:02Speaker 26: It kind of made me always dream of being here,
- 54:05Speaker 26: so when I got here, She's just been off.
- 54:08Speaker 33: The Whiles episode of how did people talk about this rivalry?
- 54:14Speaker 33: Growing up and being from Dallas being in the state.
- 54:18Speaker 33: Did you watch it every Thanksgiving?
- 54:20Speaker 6: Did you watch it?
- 54:21Speaker 5: I mean how important was it to you personally?
- 54:24Speaker 26: I think the last time I watched it was when
- 54:26Speaker 26: Justin Tucker made that kick. But yeah, so my office
- 54:32Speaker 26: line coach in high school was coach about Coach Gronds,
- 54:36Speaker 26: So I always had that connection with Day and them.
- 54:39Speaker 26: I always been looking at the school just any game.
- 54:43Speaker 1: I Tellbots read Adams, and we talked about this yesterday
