- 0:00Speaker 1: This podcast is recorded on Gadigal land. Always was, always
- 0:04Speaker 1: will be Aboriginal land.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Hey chicks, I'm Sal.
- 0:11Speaker 1: I'm Hal.
- 0:12Speaker 3: And this is Two Broke Chicks, a show that shares
- 0:14Speaker 3: life lessons and tips to help make you rich in life.
- 0:16Speaker 2: And welcome back to another episode of What's the Tea?
- 0:19Speaker 2: And today we are joined by our good friend, Lena Tuck.
- 0:22Speaker 4: Hi!
- 0:25Speaker 1: Hi! Hi everyone!
- 0:27Speaker 4: Thank you! Best friend!
- 0:29Speaker 1: Friend of the show. What's the Tea is always just like.
- 0:32Speaker 3: One of our mates.
- 0:33Speaker 2: He's like, can we.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Have like good solid banter?
- 0:36Speaker 2: Yeah, good banter.
- 0:37Speaker 3: But yeah, we've been friends with Lena for many years,
- 0:40Speaker 3: but you chickies might know her as the three martini lunch. Connoisseur,
- 0:44Speaker 3: Pickle Advocate, breaking into Pool Girl, and also now at
- 0:50Speaker 3: the bottom of the list of those priorities, but also
- 0:52Speaker 3: one of the co-hosts of the Slot Podcast.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Did you not get the memo that people are supposed
- 0:58Speaker 1: to be known for one thing?
- 1:00Speaker 4: I'm multifaceted, multidimensional. I love that.
- 1:03Speaker 2: I know. All the advice is niche down and you're like,
- 1:06Speaker 2: I'm going to niche up.
- 1:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm going to just try, fuck around and find out,
- 1:09Speaker 4: and that is my big motto in life, to fuck
- 1:11Speaker 4: around and find out.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Did you see that video of the chick online? She
- 1:13Speaker 1: was like, so I've been fucking around and here's what
- 1:15Speaker 1: I found out.
- 1:16Speaker 4: I love that. 10 out of 10.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 1:20Speaker 4: That is my absolute shtick on TikTok. I just feel
- 1:24Speaker 4: like I leap all over the place and I'm like,
- 1:25Speaker 4: you know what? This month I'm going to try singing
- 1:27Speaker 4: in the pools.
- 1:27Speaker 1: I feel like that's just you in general and that's
- 1:30Speaker 1: why you're literally the funnest person to be around.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Undiagnosed ADHD potentially undisclosed. Yeah.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Why do you think we get along this deep?
- 1:38Speaker 1: They say we all gravitate to another.
- 1:40Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Sparkly minds unite.
- 1:43Speaker 2: And we don't usually do life lessons on What's The Tea?
- 1:46Speaker 1: But Lena has expressed that she very much wants to
- 1:49Speaker 1: share her life lesson of the week.
- 1:51Speaker 2: So we don't have one necessarily. But Lena, take it away.
- 1:54Speaker 4: What's your life lesson?
- 1:54Speaker 2: It's your show now.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:57Speaker 4: My life lesson is it's always going to be a no,
- 1:59Speaker 4: unless you ask for what you want. Tea. Yeah. And
- 2:03Speaker 4: I feel like my whole bit was going to be
- 2:05Speaker 4: like my whole career in media was just founded on
- 2:07Speaker 4: the fact that I cold pitched to someone that I
- 2:10Speaker 4: wanted to make TikToks for them, um, for pedestrian TV.
- 2:13Speaker 4: And then they were like, yeah, okay. Eventually after like
- 2:16Speaker 4: six months of me emailing them, they were like, okay,
- 2:18Speaker 4: let's just give it the TikTok, whatever.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Um, anyway, I just think that's an important distinction.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Um, is that you didn't also take the first no
- 2:25Speaker 3: as the final answer.
- 2:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:27Speaker 2: If they didn't reply, like, you just keep going.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Because I think that some people are like, oh, well,
- 2:31Speaker 2: I'll ask once and then I hear a no.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Totally.
- 2:33Speaker 2: And it's like, oh, okay.
- 2:33Speaker 4: Or you don't hear anything and then you're like, okay.
- 2:36Speaker 4: And I just remember their– because this is, like, 2021
- 2:39Speaker 4: when their TikTok was just, like, not– they had, like,
- 2:41Speaker 4: a thousand followers. And I was like, let me in,
- 2:43Speaker 4: let me in.
- 2:44Speaker 2: You're like, I have ideas.
- 2:46Speaker 4: Exactly. And, yeah, I just think, like, consistency and persistence is, like,
- 2:50Speaker 4: the key to getting what you want.
- 2:52Speaker 1: 1,000 cents. If you don't ask, it's always a no.
- 2:54Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 2:55Speaker 5: Love that.
- 2:55Speaker 4: Yeah, and that's my life lesson.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Thank you. Thank you for sharing that.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Thanks, guys.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Okay, let's get into our conspiracies.
- 3:03Speaker 4: Let's do it.
- 3:03Speaker 2: I know.
- 3:04Speaker 4: Big brain, wrinkly brain, or smooth brain. I'm sure.
- 3:07Speaker 2: All of the above.
- 3:07Speaker 4: They're both.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 3:09Speaker 4: A combo.
- 3:10Speaker 3: So we've each got a different conspiracy theory that we're
- 3:12Speaker 3: going to dive into.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Shall I kick us off?
- 3:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Okay.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Okay.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Do you want to ask me what's the tea?
- 3:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Sal?
- 3:19Speaker 4: What's the tea? I love that you joined in now.
- 3:22Speaker 1: No one ever joins in.
- 3:25Speaker 4: It's the best.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Okay.
- 3:27Speaker 3: So my conspiracy theory is that birds are government spies.
- 3:31Speaker 1: I'm so invested.
- 3:32Speaker 4: Yeah. Okay.
- 3:33Speaker 1: I don't trust birds.
- 3:36Speaker 3: So this like checks out.
- 3:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:39Speaker 2: There's something about them.
- 3:40Speaker 1: I can't think of that many birds that I.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Like, wait, what about pigeons? I like them. See, I'm
- 3:47Speaker 4: a bird apologist. I'm a bird apologist too.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Like I'm that really fucking annoying person that you're walking with.
- 3:53Speaker 1: And when the pigeon kind of flies at you, they're.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Like, no, I do that too. I do that too.
- 3:57Speaker 4: Cause it's like, it's just, it's like, I'm like, fuck off.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Or like when a seagull and you like, kind of like,
- 4:03Speaker 1: gesture towards it to get it away and it doesn't
- 4:05Speaker 1: flinch i'm like.
- 4:05Speaker 4: Fuck you no but i think seagulls specifically definitely surveillance
- 4:09Speaker 4: but pigeons we're just mistreating them i.
- 4:13Speaker 1: I'm not putting them all in one i do feel
- 4:15Speaker 1: bad for pigeons yeah we all.
- 4:16Speaker 4: Know the story of pigeons and how like they were
- 4:19Speaker 4: actually pets at one point and we um domesticize.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Them yeah domesticated.
- 4:23Speaker 4: Domestic there we go Domesticated them. And now they're just
- 4:28Speaker 4: roaming free and they're like, hi.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:30Speaker 2: We'll be friends. Like somebody play When Somebody Loved Me
- 4:33Speaker 2: from Toy Story 2.
- 4:34Speaker 4: Exactly. Don't stop.
- 4:35Speaker 2: I'm going to get some. It's true. And we've just
- 4:38Speaker 2: neglected them.
- 4:39Speaker 4: But anyway.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I had an ex that like my nickname was Pigeon.
- 4:43Speaker 4: That's right.
- 4:44Speaker 1: And I think that's probably where some of my distrust
- 4:47Speaker 1: comes from.
- 4:47Speaker 4: Yeah, hang on. Yeah, you would call me a skanky pigeon.
- 4:50Speaker 4: There's law here. There's law.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Literally.
- 4:52Speaker 4: So why do you think they're surveillance machines?
- 4:55Speaker 3: So this is a machine sent from the government. It's
- 4:59Speaker 3: a pretty popular conspiracy theory with the premise that birds
- 5:02Speaker 3: aren't real.
- 5:03Speaker 2: They're actually government spies.
- 5:06Speaker 3: So the theory uses the tagline, if it flies, it spies,
- 5:10Speaker 3: which I love that. They've got like a marketing slogan.
- 5:13Speaker 3: That's the kind of conspiracy theory that I'm here for.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Like get some marketing in the mix. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:17Speaker 2: And then others say that bird watching goes both ways.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Yes.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Very sinister.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Yep.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Very sinister. I don't like that.
- 5:24Speaker 3: So some of the top claims from this conspiracy are
- 5:27Speaker 3: that all birds have been replaced by surveillance drones.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Pigeons are the most advanced model. Yeah. Birds charge themselves
- 5:35Speaker 2: on power lines.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Oh.
- 5:37Speaker 4: Do you know what?
- 5:39Speaker 1: I'm the worst person to do this episode with because
- 5:42Speaker 1: I drink the Kool-Aid any chance I can get.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Yeah, honestly.
- 5:44Speaker 4: Like, I just want to be involved.
- 5:46Speaker 2: And then one of my favourite ones, bird poop is
- 5:49Speaker 2: a tracking mechanism. Oh, I believe that.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Have you guys ever been shit on? Of course.
- 5:54Speaker 2: It's good luck.
- 5:55Speaker 4: It's good luck. Yeah.
- 5:56Speaker 2: I love that that's what we tell ourselves. It's like
- 5:58Speaker 2: the most fucking embarrassing thing.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Ever and I'm like, lucky.
- 6:01Speaker 1: I love, and then there's some FBI agent being like,
- 6:03Speaker 1: locked in, sir.
- 6:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Target acquired. Target acquired. Eagle has landed.
- 6:07Speaker 1: The bird has shit.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:10Speaker 4: What else are they doing roaming around?
- 6:12Speaker 2: Yeah, so true.
- 6:13Speaker 3: So, yeah, by that theory, when birds shit, they're actually
- 6:17Speaker 3: recharging tracking fluid on your car, which sends your location
- 6:20Speaker 3: to the government.
- 6:21Speaker 1: People have too much time on their hands.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Right. So this is basically an entire satirical conspiracy group
- 6:27Speaker 3: online that has started the theory. It started in 2017
- 6:31Speaker 3: after a college student named Peter McIndoe came up with it.
- 6:35Speaker 3: So he was visiting a friend in Nashville. As a
- 6:38Speaker 3: response to the unease caused by protesters, Peter wrote birds
- 6:42Speaker 3: aren't real as a nonsensical joke on a piece of
- 6:44Speaker 3: cardboard and joined the march.
- 6:47Speaker 4: But Peter McGindo, he was being interviewed and he was like, yeah,
- 6:51Speaker 4: I just wanted to suss this all out and just
- 6:53Speaker 4: make something up and just kind of.
- 6:55Speaker 2: And see how we carry on.
- 6:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:57Speaker 3: But yeah, it's so interesting because, yeah, this guy literally
- 7:00Speaker 3: just went to these marches.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:02Speaker 3: To write whatever he wanted on a sign and then
- 7:05Speaker 3: see how that can take off.
- 7:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:07Speaker 2: I wonder if he really expected it to take off
- 7:09Speaker 2: in the way that it did.
- 7:11Speaker 4: I think that he, because I looked at an interview
- 7:14Speaker 4: and he was saying that he is from Nashville or
- 7:17Speaker 4: like he grew up homeschooled and like he was around
- 7:19Speaker 4: a lot of these like conspiracy theorist people. Yeah. And
- 7:21Speaker 4: they were very much just like would believe anything that
- 7:24Speaker 4: he read or anything, any random bit of tidbit, which
- 7:27Speaker 4: I feel like is kind of similar to how we've
- 7:31Speaker 4: all just kind of grown up with the news and
- 7:33Speaker 4: just like taken sides and how the algorithms kind of
- 7:36Speaker 4: Not to shit talk the algorithm.
- 7:38Speaker 1: No, we can shit talk the algorithm here.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, great. Love to shit talk the algorithm. Yeah,
- 7:43Speaker 4: and how it's kind of split people and divided people
- 7:45Speaker 4: just based off like what your interests are.
- 7:47Speaker 3: It becomes like an echo chamber of like you say
- 7:51Speaker 3: one thing and then you get fed more things on
- 7:53Speaker 3: that topic.
- 7:53Speaker 4: I mean, let's talk.
- 7:54Speaker 1: About how many celebrity deaths that haven't happened. Like the
- 7:56Speaker 1: algorithm literally like rewards people. Totally.
- 8:00Speaker 4: A lot.
- 8:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I love this video of Kiki Palmer, friend of the show.
- 8:04Speaker 1: We talk about her, like, way too much.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Every episode.
- 8:06Speaker 1: It's actually not well. Yeah. Parasocial relationship core. And she's, like,
- 8:11Speaker 1: doing an interview. She's like, I remember the first time
- 8:13Speaker 1: the internet killed me.
- 8:15Speaker 4: Yeah. Yes, exactly. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, it's actually whack. And, like,
- 8:19Speaker 4: the guy bought a van and would just, like, talk
- 8:21Speaker 4: to these random strangers and people who would, like, be
- 8:24Speaker 4: interested and open to the birds aren't real movement. And
- 8:26Speaker 4: then they'd be like, well, yeah, I– I'm going to
- 8:29Speaker 4: prove it to you that the birds aren't real. And
- 8:30Speaker 4: then it would take like five minutes and people are like, yeah, wait,
- 8:34Speaker 4: you raised a really good point.
- 8:34Speaker 2: It's wild. I think it's the critical thinking skills.
- 8:39Speaker 3: I think that a lot of us lack on the internet,
- 8:42Speaker 3: which is why so many of these things take off.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Because also it's like somebody's told me something, so I'll
- 8:49Speaker 3: just believe that instead of actually believing But then also
- 8:51Speaker 3: then people are like, I did my own.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Research on something.
- 8:54Speaker 2: And I'm like, where are you getting the research from?
- 8:56Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Like I think it can go both ways.
- 8:59Speaker 3: But I think it is really interesting, especially in this
- 9:01Speaker 3: current time, because I think people also want a sense
- 9:04Speaker 3: of like control and also that they maybe have like
- 9:08Speaker 3: the inside scoop on something that's going on. And so
- 9:11Speaker 3: that's why people gravitate towards conspiracy theories.
- 9:15Speaker 1: What do you guys think is the most untrustworthy bird?
- 9:18Speaker 4: LAUGHTER Seagulls, for sure.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:23Speaker 1: I just think they're assholes.
- 9:24Speaker 4: I think they're like little frat boys.
- 9:25Speaker 2: I think we're missing the most obvious one here. Magpies.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Oh.
- 9:31Speaker 5: No, I like magpies.
- 9:32Speaker 4: They can be really loyal.
- 9:33Speaker 1: We had like a pet magpie growing up. Maggie.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Very unique name. Love that.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Yeah, she would, like, come and get her brekkie every morning.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, fair.
- 9:41Speaker 1: I just think they're just a bit zesty.
- 9:43Speaker 2: They're just like, yeah, well, she is.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Yeah, true.
- 9:45Speaker 2: And then they go and sleep with someone.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Yeah, 100%.
- 9:47Speaker 2: And they've got a reason for it, actually.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:49Speaker 4: They do it.
- 9:50Speaker 2: There's a time and a place.
- 9:50Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 9:51Speaker 2: And they're like, it's our time. You left the house. Like,
- 9:54Speaker 2: this is actually your fault.
- 9:55Speaker 4: Well, seagulls always have their own best interest at the
- 9:59Speaker 4: forefront of their mind. They're never doing anything for anyone else.
- 10:02Speaker 4: And it's always chips and it's always like a sushi roll.
- 10:05Speaker 4: Like I've had a seagull like yank it from my
- 10:07Speaker 4: hand and take it off. Yeah, yeah. There's no way
- 10:10Speaker 4: they can be trusted.
- 10:11Speaker 2: No, that's true. Those seagulls down at Circular Cay, they'll
- 10:13Speaker 2: get you.
- 10:14Speaker 1: The ones in America as well.
- 10:16Speaker 4: Oh, they're huge.
- 10:17Speaker 2: They're dogs. That's not a bird. That's a dog. I know.
- 10:20Speaker 3: They're always going on about us and, like, our spiders
- 10:23Speaker 3: and snakes and sharks and shit.
- 10:24Speaker 2: And I'm like, you.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Guys have flying devils.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Yeah, Pegasus.
- 10:28Speaker 4: Seriously. Have you seen the dogs that they employ at
- 10:31Speaker 4: the Sydney Opera House to, like, ward away seagulls?
- 10:35Speaker 1: You know, I just, like, pat them, though, and I'm.
- 10:36Speaker 4: Like, give me a dog.
- 10:38Speaker 1: I know.
- 10:39Speaker 4: I interviewed them once and I interviewed the dogs. I know.
- 10:42Speaker 2: I was like, what did they say?
- 10:44Speaker 4: They were like, yeah, yeah, yeah. So we get paid well.
- 10:46Speaker 4: We get fed treats. But they do actually get trained
- 10:50Speaker 4: to like ward off seagulls and get rid of them. Yeah.
- 10:53Speaker 2: It's actually very cute. That's such like Australian core. I know.
- 10:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 10:57Speaker 3: But yeah, I thought it was really interesting to start
- 11:00Speaker 3: off with that one because it's an example of– a
- 11:02Speaker 3: conspiracy that is just, in my opinion, so completely absurd.
- 11:07Speaker 3: And started from one person showing up to.
- 11:10Speaker 2: A rally with a sign.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Fucking around and finding out. And he found out that
- 11:14Speaker 1: people will believe whatever you tell them.
- 11:16Speaker 4: Well, there's people that still believe that. There's like, when
- 11:18Speaker 4: I was looking through the YouTube comments, people were like,
- 11:20Speaker 4: the government got to a man.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:22Speaker 4: When he was revealing that it was fake.
- 11:24Speaker 2: That it was all a joke.
- 11:25Speaker 4: And like that now I'm like, well, maybe it is fake.
- 11:29Speaker 4: Maybe it isn't fake.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Oh.
- 11:30Speaker 2: No, Lena.
- 11:32Speaker 4: The bird's a non-government spy. They got to you, Lena.
- 11:35Speaker 4: The bird got to.
- 11:36Speaker 1: It pooed on her this morning and they've been tracking her.
- 11:39Speaker 2: I just think that like... The government has plenty of
- 11:42Speaker 2: ways to track people. They don't need to. And they
- 11:44Speaker 2: probably don't need. They've got all that information on hand.
- 11:46Speaker 3: It would be a very expensive exercise for them to
- 11:48Speaker 3: replace every bird.
- 11:50Speaker 4: There's enough security cameras around in the world that we
- 11:52Speaker 4: are getting tracked at all times. Yeah. We don't need
- 11:54Speaker 4: birds to do it.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Imagine if we were wrong.
- 11:56Speaker 4: And they really were. I know.
- 11:59Speaker 2: We have to come out and, like, release an apology.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Yeah, being, like, sorry to the pigeons.
- 12:03Speaker 4: You never know.
- 12:03Speaker 1: The pigeons just deserve an apology in general. Moving on.
- 12:13Speaker 4: Lena. Yes.
- 12:14Speaker 2: What's the tea?
- 12:15Speaker 4: Okay, my conspiracy is that pickles are rage bait. They're
- 12:21Speaker 4: like the rage bait food of the internet right now.
- 12:23Speaker 4: I would almost argue maybe they're like the 2010s like
- 12:27Speaker 4: pizza movement. Remember how everyone was like, I love pizza.
- 12:29Speaker 4: And it was really divisive at the time. Everyone's like,
- 12:33Speaker 4: oh my God, shut up about pizza.
- 12:34Speaker 1: The OG rage bait is like pineapple on pizza.
- 12:37Speaker 4: Well, that's true. And how do you feel about that?
- 12:39Speaker 1: I like pineapple on pizza.
- 12:40Speaker 4: I like pineapple on pizza too. I don't.
- 12:42Speaker 2: I don't judge.
- 12:44Speaker 3: You know.
- 12:44Speaker 4: You do you. The amount of dudes that have that
- 12:46Speaker 4: on their hinge still is crazy. Oh, don't.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Move on, bro.
- 12:49Speaker 4: That was so 20, that was so 10 years ago.
- 12:51Speaker 2: You're doing the boots on the ground journalism here.
- 12:54Speaker 4: Like, it's still happening. Pickles now, I would say, are, like,
- 12:57Speaker 4: the biggest rage bait for you because it's such a device. And, like,
- 12:59Speaker 4: as a self-confessed pickle lover, I am a pickle lover.
- 13:02Speaker 4: I'll just... Let everyone know that. But I would say
- 13:05Speaker 4: that it's because it's, like, so people either really, really
- 13:07Speaker 4: love it or they really, really hate it. And so
- 13:09Speaker 4: when a company brings out, like, a viral, like, pickle thing,
- 13:12Speaker 4: people are so quick to be like, oh, my God,
- 13:14Speaker 4: it's the best. And then all the people who hate
- 13:17Speaker 4: pickles are like, why would you do that? That's so stupid.
- 13:20Speaker 4: It becomes like.
- 13:21Speaker 1: A bandwagon thing a little bit as well. Because, like,
- 13:24Speaker 1: we even have started seeing, like, pickles in, like, the
- 13:27Speaker 1: beauty space.
- 13:28Speaker 4: Like, I think it was.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Elf or Nyx, like, one of them. Yeah, it's like
- 13:33Speaker 1: they brought out, like, a pickle collection of, like, lip glosses.
- 13:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 13:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:38Speaker 1: You know?
- 13:38Speaker 4: Yeah, what's going on with that?
- 13:39Speaker 1: Which, like, why?
- 13:40Speaker 4: And, like, what does that even taste like? Vinegar? Yeah.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:43Speaker 4: Because I think, like, when you get pickles right, it's, like,
- 13:46Speaker 4: a good sour vinegary taste, which is yum, and we
- 13:49Speaker 4: all love it.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:49Speaker 4: And, like, I do love a pickle thing, but I
- 13:51Speaker 4: think when it's, like, just... Can I name names?
- 13:54Speaker 2: Yeah, of course.
- 13:56Speaker 4: The KFC pickle core menu was not good and, like,
- 13:59Speaker 4: it just felt like such a, like, bandwagon item where
- 14:02Speaker 4: they were just like, yeah, I'm going to bring out
- 14:04Speaker 4: this little pickle thing. And the pickles were just, like,
- 14:07Speaker 4: weird dehydrated little flaky things.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Yeah, why?
- 14:09Speaker 1: I asked you to stop calling me that.
- 14:13Speaker 4: And like if they knew the essence of a pickle lover,
- 14:16Speaker 4: they would know that they needed to incorporate vinegar or
- 14:19Speaker 4: like make it sour.
- 14:20Speaker 2: And the crunch.
- 14:21Speaker 1: You're not mad that they made a pickle collection. You're
- 14:23Speaker 1: mad they didn't make a pickle collection right.
- 14:25Speaker 4: Yes, exactly. Because it felt like. If you're going to
- 14:30Speaker 4: do it, do it well. You know what I mean?
- 14:32Speaker 2: Yeah, well, it's like are you really doing it for
- 14:34Speaker 2: the pickle lover?
- 14:35Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Because you're not doing it in a way.
- 14:37Speaker 4: You're clearly not.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Yeah, you're not doing it in a way that the
- 14:39Speaker 2: average pickle lover would enjoy it.
- 14:41Speaker 4: And then because obviously everyone's jumping on the bandwagon of
- 14:43Speaker 4: the viral videos and they're like, oh, my God, I've
- 14:45Speaker 4: got to try the viral meal, got to try the
- 14:48Speaker 4: viral thing. And then the people were like, obviously it's
- 14:51Speaker 4: a lot of paid influencers or gifted influencers. And they're like, oh,
- 14:54Speaker 4: my God, it's so good. And then I was just like,
- 14:57Speaker 4: what the hell is this?
- 15:00Speaker 1: Did you try the pickle Pepsi?
- 15:02Speaker 4: Yes. I actually really like the pickle Pepsi.
- 15:04Speaker 1: No, that's a bit fast.
- 15:04Speaker 2: I want to try it.
- 15:05Speaker 4: No, it's good. I actually– It's endorsed by Dua Lipa. Yeah. Oh, okay. Well,
- 15:10Speaker 4: I like it.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Yeah, she was the one who made it popular.
- 15:12Speaker 1: My conspiracy is I like anything that Dua Lipa likes.
- 15:14Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 15:15Speaker 3: Honestly.
- 15:16Speaker 4: Well, she also listens to The Slop, apparently.
- 15:18Speaker 2: She has good taste.
- 15:19Speaker 4: Shameless slug.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Exactly. She has good taste. No, I am completely into that.
- 15:23Speaker 3: But I do think, yeah, it's an interesting kind of
- 15:26Speaker 3: trend that we're seeing because, like you said, these brands–
- 15:30Speaker 3: It's like are pickles an industry plant?
- 15:33Speaker 4: Yes.
- 15:33Speaker 2: At this stage.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Food can be an industry plant.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Because we have like trending food items.
- 15:39Speaker 1: My rant last year was that it was pistachio.
- 15:42Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely. And like I was like when?
- 15:45Speaker 1: And it was like overnight. Pistachio was everywhere.
- 15:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:50Speaker 1: 100%. And I don't like pistachio because the world revolves
- 15:53Speaker 1: around me. I wasn't quite pleased about it.
- 15:56Speaker 2: I was like, can we?
- 15:57Speaker 5: No.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Then hot honey.
- 15:59Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm a fan of that.
- 16:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Like that was another one.
- 16:02Speaker 4: My take is hot honey is gentrified sweet chili. No.
- 16:07Speaker 4: It's like the 2025 sweet chili.
- 16:10Speaker 2: It's more spicy than sweet chili.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Sweet chili has barely no spice to it.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Yeah. Really.
- 16:17Speaker 4: I really love it. You're a hot honey defender and
- 16:19Speaker 4: I get that.
- 16:20Speaker 2: She really loves hot honey. But I do love it.
- 16:22Speaker 2: But I completely agree. Like we've seen that with pistachio,
- 16:25Speaker 2: with Biscoff.
- 16:26Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 16:27Speaker 1: And also not that crack hot on Biscoff.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:30Speaker 4: Me neither. I think that was– that's five years too late.
- 16:33Speaker 4: We're all over it now.
- 16:34Speaker 1: I feel like we get as well like food is
- 16:36Speaker 1: becoming like a marketing tool.
- 16:38Speaker 4: Yes.
- 16:39Speaker 1: So it'll be like cinnamon girl brunette and then like–
- 16:43Speaker 1: hot honey copper no 100 i think it's also happening
- 16:47Speaker 1: with the girl makeup.
- 16:49Speaker 4: I think it's happening with the martini as well at
- 16:51Speaker 4: the moment too like people are loving the martinis they're
- 16:54Speaker 4: jumping on the like a lot of um bars and
- 16:56Speaker 4: things have reached out and been like you did the
- 16:58Speaker 4: three martini lunch we're gonna like incorporate it into our
- 17:00Speaker 4: bar blah blah and just like i'm just noticing a
- 17:03Speaker 4: huge trend with the martini and like 18 year old
- 17:06Speaker 4: girls would be like i'd fucking hate like if martini's
- 17:08Speaker 4: disgusting why would i taste a martini yeah yeah i
- 17:11Speaker 4: love you they are they are but that's another thing
- 17:15Speaker 4: it's like really divisive it's like really like you either
- 17:17Speaker 4: love a martini or you hate a martini and i'm.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Also just a basic bitch i think aperol spritz is
- 17:21Speaker 1: disgusting whoa i don't like martinis.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Wow that's a hot take is it though I feel
- 17:28Speaker 3: like Aperol's people are becoming more brave to admit that
- 17:31Speaker 3: they don't like that.
- 17:31Speaker 4: Yes.
- 17:32Speaker 3: I think for so long people tried to convince themselves
- 17:34Speaker 3: that it was good and I'm sure some people genuinely.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Like it out there.
- 17:38Speaker 1: I want to crawl through their ear holes and forehead
- 17:41Speaker 1: kiss anyone who genuinely, really likes Aperol spritzers and I apologise.
- 17:44Speaker 4: No, you can probably kiss me right now.
- 17:45Speaker 1: But I also think, we'll do that later. Not now,
- 17:48Speaker 1: kids and whiskers.
- 17:50Speaker 4: Daddy, wait. We must talk to you later. I genuinely.
- 17:55Speaker 1: I think anyone who says Aperol Spritz, the first time
- 17:57Speaker 1: anyone has an Aperol Spritz and they go, that's yum,
- 17:59Speaker 1: I think they're lying.
- 18:00Speaker 2: I think you have to.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Train yourself to like it. Anyone that likes Aperol Spritzes
- 18:05Speaker 1: has fallen to the propaganda.
- 18:07Speaker 4: You hit a certain age. I think it's like 30,
- 18:08Speaker 4: 31 and you're like, tastes kind of good. Same with martinis. Yeah.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Okay. I have an immature taste palette. Yeah, that's what
- 18:16Speaker 2: it is.
- 18:17Speaker 4: I will say to the industry food plant thing, I
- 18:20Speaker 4: also think like we're seeing a rise of like just
- 18:22Speaker 4: really grotesque plates, like olives or girls eating like, I
- 18:27Speaker 4: saw a girl put like sliced red onion and like
- 18:30Speaker 4: feta and olive oil and then just like munch on it.
- 18:32Speaker 1: No, mate, that sounds delicious.
- 18:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:34Speaker 3: Okay well we are seeing the savory girl dinner like
- 18:37Speaker 3: have you seen kayla jade's videos recently.
- 18:41Speaker 4: Look yeah so good yeah they.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Do look good i literally want to cry.
- 18:45Speaker 4: But then the comments are like oh so you're a
- 18:46Speaker 4: sewer rat or like oh you love uh yeah people
- 18:50Speaker 4: are like so you like to eat garbage like people
- 18:52Speaker 4: like go through the comments they are delicious i agree
- 18:56Speaker 4: i'm a snack plate defender as well but people will
- 18:58Speaker 4: look at that and be like that's.
- 19:01Speaker 1: See, those snack plates to me are more appealing than
- 19:05Speaker 1: like one pizza.
- 19:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Because I'm like I get to eat like 17 different.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm a raccoon. That is just like yum.
- 19:15Speaker 4: Same.
- 19:15Speaker 1: That's probably just because we need the dopamine of like
- 19:17Speaker 1: trying different things.
- 19:18Speaker 4: I think it is.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Yeah, all the different flavors.
- 19:20Speaker 3: But, yeah, I would even be interested to know what
- 19:22Speaker 3: her strategy is.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Is with that. Like did she know that it was
- 19:25Speaker 2: going to kind of be divisive?
- 19:27Speaker 4: Totally.
- 19:27Speaker 3: As well, and that's why she's picked such like an
- 19:29Speaker 3: interesting combination of foods as well on the snack plates.
- 19:33Speaker 2: But she's a martini girl as well.
- 19:34Speaker 1: I think those plates are so creative.
- 19:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:38Speaker 1: Like I think they're so– like I'm too big of
- 19:41Speaker 1: a fan of this.
- 19:42Speaker 4: No, the savoury girl, like you probably would have got
- 19:45Speaker 4: her content too, right? She was like just this girl
- 19:47Speaker 4: in the States and she would always make these like
- 19:49Speaker 4: crazy pickles. onion, crazy concoctions, like a boiled onion and
- 19:55Speaker 4: then put like pickle juice over it. She was, like, heavy,
- 19:58Speaker 4: heavy in the Savory Girl.
- 19:59Speaker 3: Wow.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Come for your gig.
- 20:00Speaker 4: She was kind of cancelled, but anyway.
- 20:02Speaker 3: Oh, shit.
- 20:03Speaker 1: But, like, I also think it's strange how food is
- 20:06Speaker 1: kind of getting, like, the fashion treatment that it has, like, trends.
- 20:11Speaker 4: Yeah, totally, totally.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Like, food has, like, food will be trending. Like, even
- 20:16Speaker 1: if we, like, rewind to last year with the cucumber thing,
- 20:20Speaker 1: with like that guy that everyone was shaking cucumbers in
- 20:23Speaker 1: a jar.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Cucumber salad.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Cucumber salad. It was delicious as well. I don't mind it.
- 20:28Speaker 1: But I also think we're even getting like the fast
- 20:30Speaker 1: fashion-esque of food now with like limited edition flavours and
- 20:36Speaker 1: things like that that I'm like is it yummy or
- 20:39Speaker 1: is this just propaganda?
- 20:41Speaker 4: Seriously.
- 20:41Speaker 3: And like the release of food items or limited edition
- 20:45Speaker 3: food food ranges that you like you said it's almost
- 20:49Speaker 3: like is it just rage bait yeah like was this
- 20:52Speaker 3: meal design yeah is food rage bait now like is
- 20:56Speaker 3: it designed genuinely for people to enjoy or is it
- 20:59Speaker 3: designed for people to try and review and share online.
- 21:04Speaker 4: Oh absolutely yeah no so much of it now is
- 21:07Speaker 4: just like clickbait food Okay, Alex?
- 21:15Speaker 1: For our final conspiracy theory, I would like to bring
- 21:19Speaker 1: to the table is that mermaids are real.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Subscribed.
- 21:23Speaker 4: Thank you. I am subscribed.
- 21:24Speaker 1: This is obviously very on brand.
- 21:25Speaker 4: No, actually, I'm dubious. I want to hear about it. Okay.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Do you believe, before I begin, do you believe that
- 21:33Speaker 1: mermaids are or have ever been real?
- 21:38Speaker 4: You know what? Maybe, yeah, at one point.
- 21:40Speaker 1: That was such a fence-sitting answer, but I'll let you
- 21:43Speaker 1: have it.
- 21:44Speaker 4: Yes.
- 21:45Speaker 2: And I want it to be.
- 21:47Speaker 4: Real so bad. Yeah, I think I want it to
- 21:48Speaker 4: be real, but I need evidence. Okay.
- 21:50Speaker 2: I don't. Hit me.
- 21:52Speaker 1: So the idea of mermaids goes back thousands of years.
- 21:54Speaker 1: They were first mentioned more than 3,000 years ago. So
- 21:58Speaker 1: stories of mermaids have been present in multiple cultures, which
- 22:04Speaker 1: is why I think this actually supports a conspiracy because,
- 22:08Speaker 1: There was no internet.
- 22:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:10Speaker 1: But, you know, symbolism of mermaids has been found through
- 22:14Speaker 1: in ancient Egypt, you know, in Southeast Asian cultures, over
- 22:20Speaker 1: in Italy, like mermaids have been around, right?
- 22:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:24Speaker 1: And so I'm like, how are we all getting the
- 22:25Speaker 1: same picture if no one's texting?
- 22:27Speaker 3: So true.
- 22:28Speaker 2: You can't send a rock, you know?
- 22:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:31Speaker 4: Message in a bottle.
- 22:32Speaker 1: How's that happening, you know? And then we've started seeing, like,
- 22:36Speaker 1: different interpretations of mermaids through pop culture. Obviously, we have
- 22:40Speaker 1: like Disney, Harry Potter, H2O, Aquamarine, the ancient.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Text, if you will. Yes.
- 22:46Speaker 1: But according to mythology, they are creatures with the top
- 22:49Speaker 1: half of a woman and the bottom half of a fish.
- 22:52Speaker 2: But there are also some.
- 22:54Speaker 1: That have it the other way as well in mythology too. Yeah,
- 22:57Speaker 1: that the top's the fish and the bottom's... What? Yes.
- 23:00Speaker 4: Whoa.
- 23:01Speaker 1: But the most prominent is obviously the one that we know.
- 23:04Speaker 1: the top half of a woman and the bottom half
- 23:06Speaker 1: of a fish. And it means that they can swim
- 23:10Speaker 1: and breathe underwater but also spend time on land. And, like,
- 23:13Speaker 1: if you go into the mythology of it, which I love, but, like,
- 23:17Speaker 1: there's different things that they have, like, been a purpose. Some,
- 23:21Speaker 1: you know, have saved sailors and, you know, they support
- 23:25Speaker 1: them and then you have the stories of, like, sirens
- 23:27Speaker 1: who are so fuckable.
- 23:31Speaker 4: Like, siren, hot. Smash, absolutely. Smash, yeah.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Who lure the fishermen to their death.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Yeah, like you know that scene in The Odyssey where
- 23:38Speaker 1: it was like the guy who like rips.
- 23:40Speaker 4: Out his earplugs and he like. Spoiler, but also 4,000-year-old text.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Yeah, literally.
- 23:45Speaker 1: It's not going to break your mind, but they all
- 23:47Speaker 1: like put earwax in their ears so they can't hear
- 23:49Speaker 1: the siren song and then one guy like pulls it
- 23:51Speaker 1: out and he jumps overboard and he's like, take.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Me, that's me.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:54Speaker 2: And what a great way to go, honestly.
- 23:56Speaker 3: But also, just as a little side note, I felt
- 23:58Speaker 3: so gypped that they didn't show the sirens.
- 24:01Speaker 4: Oh, don't even stop me.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Oh, really?
- 24:02Speaker 2: Don't even stop me. It's like you can kind of
- 24:04Speaker 2: see the silhouettes of them on the rock. And I
- 24:06Speaker 2: was like, for fuck's sake.
- 24:07Speaker 4: You've said so much on this production of this film.
- 24:09Speaker 4: You may as well show it.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Show me the sexy sirens.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Anyway.
- 24:14Speaker 4: But I also think a lot of those sailors would
- 24:16Speaker 4: have been so drunk. Yeah, that too.
- 24:19Speaker 2: So I feel like.
- 24:20Speaker 4: They must have like hallucinated some sort of saucy fish lady.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Well, that's a Friday night.
- 24:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 24:26Speaker 1: That is part of the conspiracy that where they try
- 24:29Speaker 1: to debunk it is that they first believed what people
- 24:33Speaker 1: believed to be mermaids were actually dugongs. Which, like.
- 24:38Speaker 4: Maybe.
- 24:38Speaker 1: I can see that.
- 24:39Speaker 4: That's plausible. Yeah. No hinge was around. There's no dating apps.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Like, you've got the drunk goggles on. You're like, wow,
- 24:46Speaker 1: this is the most beautiful thing ever. And the dugong's like,
- 24:48Speaker 1: you okay?
- 24:50Speaker 2: You all right, mate?
- 24:51Speaker 1: So, sightings of mermaids have been documented throughout history, including...
- 24:55Speaker 1: Famous names in history like Christopher Columbus. He claimed to
- 24:57Speaker 1: have seen three mermaids while travelling through the Caribbean islands.
- 25:01Speaker 1: He describes their faces as masculine, but today historians believe
- 25:05Speaker 1: they might have spotted manatees.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Their little moustaches.
- 25:09Speaker 4: Yes.
- 25:09Speaker 1: I can see that. Those hadn't actually been discovered or
- 25:12Speaker 1: documented yet.
- 25:13Speaker 2: So were they.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Just seeing things that they didn't know what they were?
- 25:17Speaker 1: And he was like, mermaid. You know, English pirate Blackbeard
- 25:21Speaker 1: also recorded seeing mermaids across the West Indies in the
- 25:24Speaker 1: 18th century. Wow. But apparently... He avoided areas that he
- 25:28Speaker 1: believed to be regular spots of merpeople.
- 25:31Speaker 5: Too horny.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Scaredy cat. Too horny. Too horny.
- 25:34Speaker 4: I can't deal with this right now. I've got to focus.
- 25:36Speaker 1: He's like, oh, my God, I've really got to focus on, like,
- 25:38Speaker 1: plundering and, like, you're too hot. Yeah.
- 25:40Speaker 2: I've got to go.
- 25:42Speaker 4: Wow, interesting.
- 25:43Speaker 1: But, yeah, and even, like, now we have in 1967,
- 25:46Speaker 1: tourists in Canada claim they saw a blonde mermaid sitting
- 25:49Speaker 1: topless on the beach. They said she was eating salmon,
- 25:52Speaker 1: had dimples, and had the lower half of a porpoise.
- 25:55Speaker 1: And in 2012, workers in Zimbabwe blamed mermaids for driving
- 25:58Speaker 1: them away from their work onto reservoirs.
- 26:01Speaker 2: I may too. I may make it.
- 26:04Speaker 1: That you don't.
- 26:05Speaker 2: It reminds me of the thing with the Simpsons, Wendy.
- 26:07Speaker 2: A wizard did it. A wizard did it.
- 26:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:09Speaker 2: A mermaid told me to stop working.
- 26:10Speaker 4: Once you clock off, you're like, that was a mermaid.
- 26:12Speaker 2: I'm going to use that.
- 26:13Speaker 4: I'm going to use that.
- 26:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:16Speaker 1: But I think what's interesting in this is like similar
- 26:19Speaker 1: to mythology that we can kind of see across all
- 26:23Speaker 1: the ways that women have been depicted such as, you know,
- 26:26Speaker 1: witches and then we have mermaids. is that it's very
- 26:30Speaker 1: much that women are this kind of mysterious, somewhat conniving.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Temptress.
- 26:35Speaker 4: Temptress.
- 26:37Speaker 1: And has, you know, the way that history has been written, because,
- 26:41Speaker 1: you know, history is written by the people who write
- 26:43Speaker 1: it and that's predominantly been men, is that a representation
- 26:46Speaker 1: of what mermaids actually were? Or, like, is this just...
- 26:52Speaker 1: A woman being written by a man once again.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. Yeah, like a representation of how men see women.
- 26:58Speaker 4: Yeah, what the hell?
- 27:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:00Speaker 4: We're either witches or, like, yeah, evil temptress or... Bring
- 27:03Speaker 4: it on.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Honestly. Yeah.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Yeah. And whatever you heard, double it and I'll make
- 27:09Speaker 1: it worse.
- 27:10Speaker 4: You know? Yeah, exactly. I guess because, I mean... Well,
- 27:14Speaker 4: where's women's history? What are women saying about men? Yeah.
- 27:17Speaker 4: What are the mermaids saying about those crusty old men
- 27:20Speaker 4: on the ship?
- 27:20Speaker 1: If I was a mermaid, yeah, she's like, ew, no,
- 27:23Speaker 1: I don't want to kiss you.
- 27:24Speaker 2: I'll drown you instead.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Like if I was a mermaid, I wouldn't want humans
- 27:29Speaker 1: to know about me.
- 27:30Speaker 2: No, they ruin everything.
- 27:32Speaker 1: And then there's also the whole, like, I could talk
- 27:34Speaker 1: about this for like two hours. Yeah. There's also, you know,
- 27:37Speaker 1: the story of like Atlantis, like the lost city.
- 27:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Love that.
- 27:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 27:41Speaker 2: Great movie, by the way.
- 27:43Speaker 4: Yes.
- 27:43Speaker 1: So good. Completely factually incorrect, but great movie.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Let's not. Don't deep it too much.
- 27:50Speaker 1: I think Mermaid's real.
- 27:52Speaker 2: I want to believe that they're real.
- 27:53Speaker 1: I truly believe there is so much of the ocean.
- 27:55Speaker 1: We only know 10% of what is in the ocean.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:58Speaker 1: So to think that in the full history there couldn't
- 28:01Speaker 1: be some evolution. And also humans, trust me, bro, don't
- 28:05Speaker 1: fact check this. Like humans came from mammals that I
- 28:10Speaker 1: think like evolution has come also from the water.
- 28:14Speaker 4: Yes.
- 28:15Speaker 3: Isn't it true that like human embryos go through a
- 28:17Speaker 3: stage of development where they have slits and arches in
- 28:20Speaker 3: their neck that are kind of similar to gills? Like
- 28:23Speaker 3: the gill arches found in fish.
- 28:24Speaker 2: So like maybe.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Some people can hold their breath really long.
- 28:29Speaker 4: Elle, you've actually convinced me. I actually, I think I'm sold.
- 28:32Speaker 1: I think the fact that we have no idea what's
- 28:34Speaker 1: in the ocean. I also think like potentially they could
- 28:37Speaker 1: be aliens. Like maybe mermaids are just a version of aliens.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:40Speaker 4: I've seen some freaky like old school viral videos of
- 28:43Speaker 4: octopus and weird things that look similar. Yeah.
- 28:48Speaker 1: I don't think mermaids genuinely look like you cut a
- 28:51Speaker 1: human in half and you cut a fish in half
- 28:53Speaker 1: and you stuck them together.
- 28:54Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Like I think they would be very like scaly and
- 28:57Speaker 1: like gills and like pointy ears and I've read too
- 28:59Speaker 1: many fantasy books.
- 29:01Speaker 4: Have you? Because there was a girl on TikTok that
- 29:03Speaker 4: went viral maybe like four years ago and she found
- 29:06Speaker 4: all these viral videos of mermaids existence of mermaids yeah
- 29:10Speaker 4: whether they were like cgi.
- 29:11Speaker 3: Or see that's what pisses me off now because i'm
- 29:14Speaker 3: like everything's i know i'm never gonna be able to
- 29:16Speaker 3: trust anything but.
- 29:17Speaker 1: That's what you see in all the movies that they
- 29:20Speaker 1: go that that's how they get away with it when
- 29:23Speaker 1: a video does hit this is the conspiracy side talking
- 29:25Speaker 1: it's giving big it's giving like that they're like no
- 29:27Speaker 1: the government like the government just say it's a deep
- 29:29Speaker 1: fake like.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Just say like just.
- 29:31Speaker 1: Say it's ai just say it's fake like And that's
- 29:34Speaker 1: what he will believe because it's so hard to believe
- 29:36Speaker 1: that moments would be real. I think.
- 29:38Speaker 4: But I think to your point before about. how did
- 29:41Speaker 4: people from separate areas all configure the same– Thank you.
- 29:46Speaker 4: So what's going on? That's how I.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Feel about like dragons as well.
- 29:50Speaker 4: And vampires.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Well, dragons were dinosaurs.
- 29:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Okay, here's my other theory. Here's my other conspiracy. Yeah.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Like dragons were dinosaurs and I think vampires were real.
- 30:00Speaker 1: I think mermaids were real because they've all existed thousands
- 30:05Speaker 1: and thousands of years ago in like ancient texts of
- 30:08Speaker 1: countries that and places and cultures that never could have
- 30:11Speaker 1: talked to each other. So how are they all fucking out?
- 30:14Speaker 4: Exactly. Okay, who's the leak? Who's the leak? Edward Cullens. What,
- 30:18Speaker 4: there's like one kind of person running around every.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Single culture being like, guys.
- 30:21Speaker 4: Yeah, going, this is the skin of the killer, Bella. Yeah.
- 30:23Speaker 4: Did you hear about mermaids? It's crazy.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Who said that? Yeah, totally. Yeah, I do also love
- 30:29Speaker 1: the idea that it was just like a bunch of
- 30:31Speaker 1: drunk guys.
- 30:31Speaker 4: And they're like, she's so beautiful, bro. Can you see her?
- 30:35Speaker 3: Smash.
- 30:36Speaker 1: And it's just this fucking like manatee or dugong that's like, Smooth.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Trying to eat some kelp and beans. And they're so
- 30:43Speaker 1: cute with their little shovel.
- 30:44Speaker 2: They are very beautiful.
- 30:45Speaker 4: Being like, okay. No, those men would have been blotto.
- 30:49Speaker 4: Like absolutely drunk.
- 30:51Speaker 1: All they've been eating is like potatoes.
- 30:54Speaker 2: They've all got scurvy.
- 30:55Speaker 4: Yeah, they've all got scurvy. They're all kind of going insane.
- 30:58Speaker 4: And they're horny as fuck.
- 30:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 31:00Speaker 4: Which like, ew. But I do think mermaids are real
- 31:03Speaker 4: for sure. Mermaids are real. And then they saw probably
- 31:06Speaker 4: a dugong. Like mermaids are doing their own thing. They're
- 31:08Speaker 4: off over there. Then there's the shipment.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Yeah, in 2012 in Zimbabwe.
- 31:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 31:15Speaker 2: They probably saw.
- 31:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 31:16Speaker 3: They might have been like they had a hard day's work.
- 31:19Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 31:19Speaker 4: I want to look up.
- 31:21Speaker 1: If there's ever been a study of how many people
- 31:23Speaker 1: think Mermaid's real.
- 31:25Speaker 4: Yes.
- 31:25Speaker 2: Surely.
- 31:27Speaker 4: You should also look at the, I'll send it to you,
- 31:29Speaker 4: the video from like 2021 of this girl and this
- 31:32Speaker 4: guy interacting with a mermaid. Stop.
- 31:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:36Speaker 4: I'll have to send it to you. But it was
- 31:38Speaker 4: like this old school, old school viral video and he
- 31:41Speaker 4: throws a crab out and then she flings it back.
- 31:45Speaker 4: I'm going to throw up.
- 31:47Speaker 1: That's amazing.
- 31:47Speaker 4: Oh, my God.
- 31:48Speaker 2: See, I'm so impressionable. I just want it to be real.
- 31:51Speaker 2: So I'm like, it must be. It's like it could
- 31:53Speaker 2: just be a friend who's under the water. Throw it back.
- 31:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:56Speaker 1: And as someone who is obsessed with the idea of
- 31:59Speaker 1: mermaids but is like, terrified of the ocean yeah.
- 32:03Speaker 4: I'm okay maybe it's your friends it's fine because we're
- 32:05Speaker 4: all women and they'll.
- 32:07Speaker 5: Be like girl let me tell you i was like
- 32:10Speaker 5: i've got some stories yeah you.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Should see what they're getting up to on.
- 32:13Speaker 5: Land yeah exactly but yeah i would love to know
- 32:18Speaker 5: for the chicks vote in a in the poll down
- 32:21Speaker 5: below do you think mermaids are real yeah and i
- 32:25Speaker 5: want the number Let us know.
- 32:27Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll do our own research.
- 32:28Speaker 1: If it's like 99% think they're not real, I'm going
- 32:29Speaker 1: to be so sad.
- 32:30Speaker 2: Me too.
- 32:31Speaker 1: I feel like I need like a 60-40.
- 32:32Speaker 4: Everyone just say they're real and we can all just
- 32:35Speaker 4: like live in this conspiracy world.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Exactly. Yeah.
- 32:40Speaker 4: Who's it hurting? No one.
- 32:41Speaker 1: Yeah, fuck birds. Mermaids all the way. Yeah.
- 32:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
