- 1:21Speaker 1: stuff and he's like, why would you get it on
- 1:24Speaker 1: a towel, and I was like, I just like walked
- 1:28Speaker 1: away from the conversation. I was like, because people use
- 1:31Speaker 1: towels like we do in our house, and why not
- 1:34Speaker 1: make it cute. Look at the dish towel collection at

- 2:22Speaker 2: our lives right now. Wendy and I just look at
- 2:24Speaker 2: each other once in a while, go and then about
- 2:28Speaker 2: sums it up. We are going to talk about this
- 2:32Speaker 2: Noma's go on, and we're gonna kick it off.
- 2:34Speaker 1: With a synopsis. Isaiah, a former Broadway actor struggling to
- 2:38Speaker 1: make a comeback, escapes to Upstate New York for the holidays,
- 2:42Speaker 1: only to get roped into directing his nieces nearly canceled
- 2:45Speaker 1: high school Christmas musical. Hoping to impress a powerful Broadway producer,
- 2:50Speaker 1: he casts himself in the show, but instead discovers unexpected romance,
- 2:55Speaker 1: renewed purpose, and the kind of holiday magic that reshapes
- 2:57Speaker 1: his priorities. This Snow Must Go On was directed by
- 3:01Speaker 1: Jeff Beasley, which marks his fortieth directing credit. He's behind
- 3:05Speaker 1: several Hallmark favorites like Following Yonder Star, A Carol for Two,
- 3:09Speaker 1: Haunted Wedding, and The Santa Summit. The screenplay was written
- 3:12Speaker 1: by Scott Damien and Heather Provost. Scott Damien has seven
- 3:16Speaker 1: writing credits, including Hallmark's Season for Love from twenty eighteen
- 3:20Speaker 1: and A Joyous Christmas from twenty seventeen. Heather Provost has
- 3:26Speaker 1: five writing credits and shares those same Hallmark titles. Heather
- 3:30Speaker 1: Heven stars as Lillianne. She has thirty one acting credits.
- 3:33Speaker 1: We last saw her in Christmas under the Lights, and
- 3:35Speaker 1: she's well known from the Groomsman trilogy. You know, I
- 3:38Speaker 1: was looking back at her IMDb resume. She hasn't been
- 3:43Speaker 1: on Hallmark that long. No, kind of surprised by that,
- 3:47Speaker 1: to be honest, I feel.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Like she's a state one of their leading ladies.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Yeah, sure, yeah. Corey Cott plays Isaiah, a Broadway guy
- 3:56Speaker 1: through and through, having starred in Newz's Gigi and Bam Stand.
- 4:00Speaker 1: He has twenty one acting credits and past Hallmark roles
- 4:04Speaker 1: include seasons Greetings from Cherry Lane and Butler's In Love.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Kaylen Youwn McCrae appears as Aurora. She has four acting
- 4:12Speaker 2: credits with Hallmark appearances in Kiss Before Christmas and A
- 4:15Speaker 2: New Year's Resolution. Samantha Kendrick plays Sister Jess with twenty
- 4:20Speaker 2: six acting credits. She's appeared in Hallmark's Never Been Christ
- 4:23Speaker 2: and Francesca Quinn pi. Emily the Young plays Marana. This
- 4:28Speaker 2: is her fourth acting credit. She previously appeared in A
- 4:30Speaker 2: Big Fat Family Christmas in twenty twenty two.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Stephanie sistars as Cindy. This is Stephanie's seventy first acting credit.
- 4:38Speaker 1: She was recently on Hallmark. And a Carol for Two
- 4:40Speaker 1: and The Magic of Lemon Drops.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Rodrigo Bellyflis plays Noah. This is his thirteenth acting credit
- 4:46Speaker 2: and you may remember him from The Santa Summit. Mariam
- 4:49Speaker 2: Bernstein plays Sandra. Mariam's past Hallmark projects include The Magic
- 4:52Speaker 2: of Lemon Drops, Hanka on Rye, and a Christmas Cookie Catastrophe.
- 4:57Speaker 2: We're going to take a quick break and come right
- 4:59Speaker 2: back with our first impressions. Hey, Wendy, what was your
- 5:10Speaker 2: first impression of the Snow Must Go On? The minute
- 5:13Speaker 2: those kids started belting and fully committing to the show,
- 5:18Speaker 2: I thought, Oh, Megan is absolutely having any spiritual experience
- 5:22Speaker 2: watching this right now. My first impression is people are
- 5:25Speaker 2: either gonna love this movie or turn it off immediately.
- 5:27Speaker 2: And I am all in on the extreme campiness of
- 5:30Speaker 2: it all.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I think it's because you're like a theater kid, mom
- 5:34Speaker 1: one hundred in this world. Yeah.
- 5:37Speaker 2: I think if you are a theater kid, a theater
- 5:40Speaker 2: parent in the theater world, this movie spoke to you.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Let's talk what we liked. I am none of those things,
- 5:47Speaker 1: but I really like this movie. Yeah. There's something about
- 5:52Speaker 1: a story that has to do with like high school
- 5:56Speaker 1: set in high school. Okay, but I really enjoy okay,
- 6:00Speaker 1: and this was one of them. Uh huh. I liked it.
- 6:03Speaker 1: But let me tell you, Jeff Beasley knows how to
- 6:06Speaker 1: direct a Hallmark musical. Yes, I want to give him
- 6:09Speaker 1: his flowers here. This isn't the first time he's done
- 6:12Speaker 1: a Hallmark meets Broadway type movie. He did it with
- 6:15Speaker 1: a Carol fourtwo, which was on last year's count on
- 6:18Speaker 1: a Christmas It's not talked about enough. It was so good. Yeah,
- 6:22Speaker 1: I feel like it was very skipped over last year,
- 6:25Speaker 1: very skipped over, and it was good. I loved it.
- 6:29Speaker 1: He also did Just One Kiss from several years ago.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Do you remember that movie A little bit.
- 6:34Speaker 2: They sing in that? Isn't that where they sing that
- 6:38Speaker 2: iconic song?
- 6:40Speaker 1: You know that one?
- 6:43Speaker 2: This is where our brain can envision it. Hold on,
- 6:46Speaker 2: I'll google it because I know people will be bothered.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Fley to the Moon and something Stupid by Santino Fontana
- 6:53Speaker 2: and Krista Rodriguez.
- 6:55Speaker 1: I love Santino Fontana. Ugh. Yeah, Jeff Beasley's great. He
- 7:02Speaker 1: I don't know he somehow is able to translate that
- 7:08Speaker 1: broad Way energy into a cozy Hallmark movie. Yes, that's
- 7:13Speaker 1: what I liked.
- 7:14Speaker 2: If I may quote Steve from our Facebook group, he said,
- 7:16Speaker 2: The Snow Must go On is in contention for the
- 7:18Speaker 2: sleeper of the Christmas season. The performance of the male
- 7:21Speaker 2: lead was incredible. The child actors also delivered. Director Jeff
- 7:26Speaker 2: Beasley created a funny, touching film that really says all
- 7:31Speaker 2: of my thoughts.
- 7:32Speaker 1: He sums it up. Yes, ye, yes, you're listening. Guys.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Join our Facebook group where people are just doing our
- 7:40Speaker 1: job of I mean, look, Steve, you're hired. The male lead,
- 7:44Speaker 1: Corey Coott, is a damn delight. I agree.
- 7:47Speaker 2: He made me smile. He carries this movie on his back.
- 7:51Speaker 2: His energy is high, his singing is delightful, his smile
- 7:55Speaker 2: is electric. I didn't really have any thoughts about this
- 7:58Speaker 2: movie going in. I just did not have any idea
- 8:00Speaker 2: what I was going to get. You know, I will
- 8:02Speaker 2: tell you it.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Was probably low on my list because I was like,
- 8:06Speaker 1: I'm not familiar with Corey Coott. Heather hymns is fine.
- 8:10Speaker 1: I knew it was a Jeff Beasley movie, but I
- 8:12Speaker 1: was like, the Snow Must go On. I'm gonna talk
- 8:15Speaker 1: about it in my wishes. But I was so delighted
- 8:20Speaker 1: by all of that especially Corey Coott. He was. He
- 8:24Speaker 1: just brought me so much joy. I was like, I
- 8:27Speaker 1: don't know if I texted you or you texted me.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I was like, I'm really into this movie. Yeah. Yeah.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I loved how much singing we got from him too.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Oh he was so good. It is this beautiful, clear Broadway voice.
- 8:41Speaker 1: I'm in a real Broadway place. I went to New
- 8:43Speaker 1: York two weeks ago.
- 8:44Speaker 2: I'm like, give me all the Broadway, give me the performances,
- 8:47Speaker 2: and I want you to know, from one theater parent
- 8:52Speaker 2: to the world, this is how theater people are. They
- 8:54Speaker 2: will just break into song. That ending scene where he's like,
- 8:57Speaker 2: I perform the Christmas Story every year, Like theater.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Kids are like that. Yeah, like they're silly, they're fun.
- 9:04Speaker 1: There is a line it made me laugh out loud.
- 9:07Speaker 1: I can't remember exactly what it was, but it he
- 9:10Speaker 1: was like taking the temperature on if kids were feeling stress,
- 9:14Speaker 1: and he's like, let's break out it, or let's sing
- 9:15Speaker 1: a song or something that I was like, well, that
- 9:17Speaker 1: would be the last thing I would want to do.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Sure, yeah, I do the same. I don't want to
- 9:22Speaker 2: sing something about Christmas, like, don't make me do that like.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Present like you know, oh my gosh, yeah, when you
- 9:30Speaker 1: had a like that's like an icebreaker.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't want to do that. But I'm not
- 9:34Speaker 2: a theater kid. I'm just a theater nerd and theater parent.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I'm in the world, okay, if I may, You know,
- 9:42Speaker 1: I liked the classic return Home to Save the Holiday
- 9:46Speaker 1: show trope. This is not the first time we've seen
- 9:48Speaker 1: this on Hallmark, but I liked it. It was pretty predictable, right, yes,
- 9:54Speaker 1: but it worked. I just there are parts of me
- 9:57Speaker 1: that I was like Winter high school public schools. Oh wait,
- 10:01Speaker 1: wasn't a public high school, was it? Oh? You're right,
- 10:03Speaker 1: I don't think so. It doesn't Does it matter? No,
- 10:05Speaker 1: it doesn't matter because, like you know, there's a lot
- 10:08Speaker 1: of a lot of people are doing like a Christmas show.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and like this movie could have been like
- 10:14Speaker 1: it could have totally been made outside of Christmas too,
- 10:17Speaker 1: I think, yeah, regardless, none of that matters. But I
- 10:22Speaker 1: do like this trope of like, you know, save the
- 10:24Speaker 1: you gotta save the Christmas pageant energy.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Speaking of tropes and predictability, I did enjoy the metaphor
- 10:32Speaker 2: of figuring out your second act.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I said, did I are we there
- 10:37Speaker 1: is that? Why? Yes, hey, there's the metaphor.
- 10:42Speaker 2: And then of course Isaiah does make that connection. He's like,
- 10:45Speaker 2: I need to figure out what my own second act is.
- 10:48Speaker 1: To piggyback off. Facebook member Steve, I really loved the
- 10:53Speaker 1: kids in this movie. Yeah. First you got your trouble
- 10:56Speaker 1: kid turned into your lead. I know. I was like,
- 11:01Speaker 1: love that. I love that. We have Aurora, who his niece,
- 11:07Speaker 1: who is so mature beyond her age. I love that.
- 11:12Speaker 1: And then we have Miranda, who is this shy lead
- 11:18Speaker 1: basically like the girl can sing and perform. Can I
- 11:22Speaker 1: tell you?
- 11:22Speaker 2: My daughter, who's a theater kid the other day says
- 11:24Speaker 2: to me while I'm doing her hair, she goes, you know,
- 11:27Speaker 2: one of these days, I'm gonna overcome my fear of
- 11:29Speaker 2: singing in front of people, and I'm gonna be unstoppable.
- 11:32Speaker 1: And I was like, did you cry? What do we
- 11:35Speaker 1: do to get you with it? I love that. Anyway,
- 11:38Speaker 1: she should watch this movie. I know she should watch
- 11:42Speaker 1: this movie. I will say I did enjoy Heather hymns
- 11:47Speaker 1: as Lily, and she is level headed and warm and
- 11:51Speaker 1: she can sing. I really love that we got to
- 11:53Speaker 1: see this moment of Heather him and singing in the movie.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I thought that was great. She does keep it. I'm
- 12:00Speaker 1: going off the rails because Corey's character Isaiah is a
- 12:05Speaker 1: little bit unhinged. I'm going to talk about him and
- 12:07Speaker 1: my wishes, But she keeps it everything like she's very
- 12:10Speaker 1: even unmeasured.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Yes, yes, Like you talked about the stereotypes of the kids,
- 12:15Speaker 2: and I think the kids, many of them are straight
- 12:17Speaker 2: up stereotypes, but I do think they're all recognizable stereotypes.
- 12:21Speaker 2: They serve a purpose. You know, you can either laugh
- 12:24Speaker 2: with them or connect with them. You've got the theatre
- 12:27Speaker 2: diva overly obsessed with her phone. I also, in terms
- 12:31Speaker 2: of the production, I was impressed with the production value
- 12:35Speaker 2: of the final show, the costuming, the makeup, the sets.
- 12:38Speaker 2: It was well done for a Hallmark high school production.
- 12:43Speaker 2: I thought it was nice. And I have two quick
- 12:47Speaker 2: little humorous likes to wrap mine up. I loved the
- 12:51Speaker 2: line it's like Hamilton but Christmas and I. In the
- 12:55Speaker 2: beginning of the movie, we see the old drama teacher
- 12:58Speaker 2: walking out in a blaze of glory and she throws
- 13:00Speaker 2: her papers and as my husband, who is disillusioned with
- 13:03Speaker 2: the profession of teaching.
- 13:05Speaker 1: He just was like like he just loved that moment.
- 13:09Speaker 1: He's like, that's the dream man. Just in the middle
- 13:12Speaker 1: of the day.
- 13:12Speaker 2: You're done, so don't worry. He wouldn't do it to
- 13:17Speaker 2: his students, but made him love.
- 13:20Speaker 1: I think everybody has that dream of like going out
- 13:22Speaker 1: in a blaze of glory like that.
- 13:24Speaker 2: If they like the Jerry Maguire, Yeah, who's with me?
- 13:28Speaker 1: Yep, yeap for sure? Are you ready to talk wishes?
- 13:31Speaker 1: I am? I mentioned it briefly, Isaiah, you're doing too
- 13:37Speaker 1: much and not always in a good way. You cast
- 13:41Speaker 1: yourself in as the lead. I'd like to talk about it.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Let's talk about it.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Look, as mentioned eight hundred times, I'm a theater parent.
- 13:48Speaker 2: I've seen some crazy you.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Know what, including nepotism like you wouldn't believe. But the
- 13:54Speaker 1: director casting himself an adult in the lead role of
- 13:58Speaker 1: a high school presentation was beyond too much.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Right, Let the kids be kids. Look, this is my argument.
- 14:05Speaker 2: In elementary school, my kids. Elementary school does a very
- 14:09Speaker 2: nice theater program, but they would bring in high school
- 14:13Speaker 2: students to be pit singers, which means they're like off
- 14:16Speaker 2: stage singing to boost the sound of the Okay, it's
- 14:20Speaker 2: an elementary school production. Let it be elementary school kids.
- 14:23Speaker 2: We don't need let the kid's voices shine.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
- 14:28Speaker 2: They rewrote one of the parts in Mary Poppins because
- 14:31Speaker 2: the mister Banks character's voice wasn't strong enough to sing
- 14:34Speaker 2: let's go fly a kite at the end, so they
- 14:35Speaker 2: gave it to missus Banks. It doesn't even make sense.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Stuff like this is like, what are we doing here?
- 14:42Speaker 2: What's the point? And so I felt like you have
- 14:46Speaker 2: missed the mark.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Completely, like because I thought when he first did that,
- 14:52Speaker 1: I was like, he's just doing that so that Aurora
- 14:55Speaker 1: can play the role. But that wasn't his goal. That
- 14:58Speaker 1: only happened accidentally. The let like the end, right, And
- 15:02Speaker 1: I was like, come on, man, open your eyes. Not cool, bro, Yeah,
- 15:07Speaker 1: who wants to go see you're the drama teacher, No
- 15:11Speaker 1: play the lead? No, you want to see your own kid? Right?
- 15:15Speaker 1: High school production? Yeah yeah, I'm going to get why
- 15:19Speaker 1: they had to do it. I get why the story
- 15:22Speaker 1: makes sense. Yes, I U too, But I.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Also feel like casting Aurora in the lead role also
- 15:30Speaker 2: gets the attention of her mother in a way where
- 15:34Speaker 2: she might be then willing.
- 15:35Speaker 1: To offer him the audition he's looking for. Yeah, because
- 15:39Speaker 1: I feel like it would have had the opposite effect
- 15:41Speaker 1: if he had gone on stage and performed. She would
- 15:43Speaker 1: be like, what the heck is this guy doing? He's
- 15:46Speaker 1: taking away for real, Yeah, from the student's opportunity. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 15:51Speaker 1: My next wish is Stephanie's Saie is criminally underused.
- 15:56Speaker 2: It's my biggest wish. Justice for Stephanie SSI in all caps.
- 16:00Speaker 1: She is a Broadway star. Yeah, give her more to do? Okay,
- 16:06Speaker 1: no shade to Heather hymns. But what if Stephanie Saie
- 16:08Speaker 1: was in this lead role? I know, what is Hallmark
- 16:10Speaker 1: afraid of putting Stephanie Saiye in the lead. I don't
- 16:14Speaker 1: get it. It might have been too much like Broadway energy.
- 16:18Speaker 1: But we're already there, I know. I know. Justice for
- 16:24Speaker 1: Stephanie Saie. Also, I mentioned it earlier. I hate the
- 16:27Speaker 1: title of this movie. I hate the pun. I wish
- 16:30Speaker 1: it was just the show must go on and make
- 16:34Speaker 1: the poster Christmas y. Yeah, I think I don't.
- 16:37Speaker 2: I think Hallmark is like, can't do it, can't do it.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Gotta have it in there, gotta have something wintry, something Christmas.
- 16:46Speaker 1: I mean I know there was a tie in with
- 16:48Speaker 1: the snow machine, but it wasn't that. And they even
- 16:50Speaker 1: say character like yeah, yes, like don't hit me over
- 16:56Speaker 1: the head bottle.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, that's it though for my wishes, let's talk dude,
- 17:02Speaker 2: you see that.
- 17:04Speaker 1: I just have a few. I loved Isaiah's sweatsuit that
- 17:09Speaker 1: with the candy cane. Oh yeah. I mean it's like
- 17:12Speaker 1: clip art fantasy come true. But it was funny and
- 17:16Speaker 1: it was a bold move that he just like shows
- 17:18Speaker 1: up to the high school, like when you mean this? Like,
- 17:21Speaker 1: I you know, I thought it was funny. I thought
- 17:23Speaker 1: it was funny. My other did you see that? I
- 17:29Speaker 1: have two more the opening scene, I was like, what
- 17:34Speaker 1: am I getting here? Like, you know, because they show
- 17:36Speaker 1: him in this like on his One man show or whatever.
- 17:40Speaker 1: I was like, wait, I thought this was about high
- 17:43Speaker 1: school Christmas musical, So I like that. It kind of
- 17:47Speaker 1: threw me off a little bit. Well, my husband, he's like,
- 17:50Speaker 1: what's happening. This is terrible. I'm like, it's intentionally bad.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Like it's intentionally bad, that's the point.
- 17:56Speaker 2: And he was like he couldn't understand, and like the
- 17:59Speaker 2: point is he's trying to do this one man show.
- 18:01Speaker 1: He's clearly talented. His show sucks. Nobody's there like but
- 18:04Speaker 1: my husband was like also thrown anyway. My last did
- 18:09Speaker 1: you see that was there were some great lines in
- 18:13Speaker 1: this You've already mentioned them, but the one where they're
- 18:18Speaker 1: talking about the script and Lily Ango's concepts of a
- 18:22Speaker 1: script and I there were a lot of little like
- 18:25Speaker 1: political easter eggs really liked. Yep, yep, I have two
- 18:32Speaker 1: more digitsu. That's I did love the concepts of a
- 18:34Speaker 1: plan throwback. In the beginning of the movie, when the
- 18:38Speaker 1: sister and the daughter, the sister and the knees, it
- 18:41Speaker 1: was unclear to me their relationship to him and each other. Yeah,
- 18:45Speaker 1: and I thought it was his sister and her girlfriend.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Oh and then we cut and they were like going
- 18:52Speaker 2: through a divorce and then this kid comes out.
- 18:54Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, that's the knees up. Didn't understand that,
- 18:57Speaker 1: didn't understand that at all. Is this Cassie of a
- 19:01Speaker 1: for the teenagers? Maybe too old.
- 19:05Speaker 2: I'm not a good judge of age, but to me,
- 19:07Speaker 2: the sister also looked very young in that opening scene.
- 19:11Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 19:11Speaker 2: I just thought that's his sister and that's her girlfriend
- 19:14Speaker 2: because he talks about her and she's like she is
- 19:16Speaker 2: very talented, and she like touches her arm like it
- 19:18Speaker 2: was sweet. I was like, yeah, anyway also, and then
- 19:24Speaker 2: I paused it when I realized that that was the daughter,
- 19:26Speaker 2: And I said, did you think it was the sister
- 19:28Speaker 2: and the girlfriend? He said no, I thought it was
- 19:29Speaker 2: his sister and her friend coming to his show.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Oh the only other Did you see that? This is
- 19:34Speaker 1: such a reach.
- 19:35Speaker 2: When he goes through, he's like, I got an app
- 19:37Speaker 2: to do the lighting, and he like goes through. At
- 19:41Speaker 2: that commercial break, there was a commercial for app lights,
- 19:45Speaker 2: which is like a lighting app. Yeah, and I went
- 19:49Speaker 2: back and rewatched to see if they had like flashed
- 19:52Speaker 2: to his app.
- 19:53Speaker 1: They don't. Oh so it's just a very weird coincidence.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Yeah, because app lights it's more about holiday lighting and
- 19:58Speaker 2: this is more about stage life. I don't know if
- 20:01Speaker 2: there was any tie in, but it was coincidental. Hmm.
- 20:05Speaker 1: What did you rate the Snow Must Go On? I
- 20:07Speaker 1: gave it three point seventy five. Owe me to exactly.
