2:30
Speaker 3: to try to get into this a little bit later on.
2:32
Speaker 3: I'd hope to have Chris or Jeff on the show today,
2:34
Speaker 3: but apparently that's not gonna happen. But there was news
2:38
Speaker 3: out of Putnam County that a county commissioner there has resigned.
2:42
Speaker 3: We've got the story posted about it on WCCHS network
2:45
Speaker 3: dot com. Steve Dewese, former sheriff, has announced his resignation. Again,
2:49
Speaker 3: we do have the story about that posted on WCCHS
2:52
Speaker 3: network dot com. Time allows, we'll get into that a
2:54
Speaker 3: little bit more later on the show. Do you want
2:56
Speaker 3: to welcome in though our good friend Millie Snyder from
2:59
Speaker 3: the Shape Shop. Millie, good morning, how are you.
3:00
Speaker 5: I'm wonderful, thank you. How are you Dad?
3:02
Speaker 3: I'm doing fine, thank you very much, and happy early Thanksgiving.
3:05
Speaker 5: Thank you. It's just the next Thursday, which means I
3:09
Speaker 5: have to go to work and get stuff done because
3:12
Speaker 5: there's going to be in addition to some friends joining,
3:15
Speaker 5: my daughter is going to be with us, and my
3:17
Speaker 5: three grandsons are going to be with me as well,
3:20
Speaker 5: so they all have great appetites.
3:22
Speaker 6: Well.
3:22
Speaker 3: Speaking of going to work, yes, you kind of shocked
3:25
Speaker 3: some people.
3:26
Speaker 5: I did with myself, shocked the world.
3:29
Speaker 3: As Muhammad Ali once said, you and Mhammad Ali have
3:32
Speaker 3: a lot in common. Okay, so you made the announcement
3:35
Speaker 3: that you're closing the Shape Shop, I know, do you
3:38
Speaker 3: know that?
3:39
Speaker 5: But I know, I know, I know that, and I
3:41
Speaker 5: must tell you that it's bittersweet because I love, I
3:45
Speaker 5: have loved what I have done for the fifty nine
3:48
Speaker 5: years that I've been part of Charleston, and I thank
3:51
Speaker 5: everyone because the outpoor, the outpouring of support for me.
3:56
Speaker 5: I mean yesterday in the shop, are dining room was
4:00
Speaker 5: packed with members and several former employees who used to
4:05
Speaker 5: work for Weight Watchers and talk about pulling on my heartstrings.
4:09
Speaker 5: All of them certainly made that happen, and I thank
4:12
Speaker 5: everyone from the bottom of my heart.
4:15
Speaker 3: So why the decision to close it up?
4:17
Speaker 5: Well, because I know I don't look at and no
4:19
Speaker 5: one believes it. But I'm eighty two and I want
4:23
Speaker 5: to find out what else there is. Now. I'm going
4:26
Speaker 5: to do some things here because I'm going to been
4:28
Speaker 5: talking with the colonel, Colonel Ron Hughes that Colonel, Yes,
4:35
Speaker 5: we're going to do podcasting. I have wonderful stories to tell.
4:38
Speaker 5: I'm also going to keep doing my Mediterranean group, but
4:42
Speaker 5: I'm also going to spend some time taking care of myself,
4:46
Speaker 5: going to a trainer, also going to Lagree and things
4:50
Speaker 5: that I've never I rarely have time to do. Plus
4:54
Speaker 5: maybe sleep till seven instead of five. That would be
4:58
Speaker 5: nice to do some travel. Someone said, are you moving
5:01
Speaker 5: to Florida? No, because West Virginia is my home, my
5:05
Speaker 5: adopted home.
5:06
Speaker 3: You're adopted at home, and I love then. I hear
5:08
Speaker 3: those stories. And I used to have a good friend
5:10
Speaker 3: of mine who used to make the comment. He would say,
5:12
Speaker 3: I'm not from West Virginia. But I got here as
5:14
Speaker 3: quickly as I could, and I love that term.
5:16
Speaker 5: And that's good. And to many people, when you know,
5:20
Speaker 5: they tell me they were born here, I apologize for
5:23
Speaker 5: not being born here because this is such a wonderful place.
5:26
Speaker 5: West Virginia and Charleston in particular, is where I grew up.
5:31
Speaker 5: I got here when I was twenty seven years old,
5:34
Speaker 5: and may I tell you I knew absolutely nothing except
5:38
Speaker 5: the fact that I brought weight watchers to West Virginia
5:41
Speaker 5: and I helped a lot of people improve the quality
5:44
Speaker 5: of their life. And that's been an ongoing drive for me.
5:49
Speaker 3: So what's going to happen to the Shape Shop? I mean,
5:51
Speaker 3: is it just closing?
5:52
Speaker 5: The shop is closing? Our last day of business is
5:55
Speaker 5: on Friday. Okay, Someone is going to continue making the
5:59
Speaker 5: muffin what I am looking for. And I hope there
6:02
Speaker 5: is a entrepreneurial person listening, or maybe somebody knows of
6:06
Speaker 5: one to resurrect and keep Dippy Doos alive because they
6:11
Speaker 5: have a wonderful future. And Dippy Doos are delicious, as
6:16
Speaker 5: many people know, and we can make them up to
6:18
Speaker 5: thirty five flavors. But that's a little ridiculous. We do
6:21
Speaker 5: make them right now in twenty flavors, and they'll be
6:25
Speaker 5: buying the ice cream machines and everything that goes with
6:29
Speaker 5: making Dippy Doo's. The only thing they need is a freezer.
6:33
Speaker 3: Okay, So what do people do if they're interested in
6:35
Speaker 3: h should contact me? Okay?
6:37
Speaker 5: Just my number is three four five four one six
6:41
Speaker 5: one four.
6:41
Speaker 3: Six Before we move on to anything else. Though again,
6:43
Speaker 3: that news was kind of shocking. I want to give
6:45
Speaker 3: you an opportunity, you know, take thirty seconds or so
6:49
Speaker 3: just to thank people that have patronized Shape Shop over
6:53
Speaker 3: the years.
6:54
Speaker 5: And it's been so overwhelming and so heart wrenching because
7:00
Speaker 5: I've heard from literally everyone seemingly who I've touched since
7:07
Speaker 5: arriving here. As I said, I think I said fifty nine,
7:11
Speaker 5: I meant to say fifty six years ago. And when
7:14
Speaker 5: I told my family I was moving to Charleston, West Virginia,
7:17
Speaker 5: they couldn't believe it because they never heard of it,
7:20
Speaker 5: and they thought I said the planet Mars.
7:21
Speaker 3: Did they give you that? Is it close to Richmond
7:23
Speaker 3: or And to this.
7:25
Speaker 5: Very day, somebody says to me, I have a cousin
7:28
Speaker 5: in Richmond, and my response is I'm happy for you.
7:30
Speaker 3: That's awesome, but it has absolutely nothing to do with
7:33
Speaker 3: Charles Virginia.
7:35
Speaker 5: And I mean, if any if it's possible to love
7:39
Speaker 5: a place as much as I love Charleston, then I
7:43
Speaker 5: want to take ownership of those words because it comes
7:45
Speaker 5: from my heart. And people here have been wonderful to me,
7:50
Speaker 5: and I thank every one of you. If you're listening,
7:54
Speaker 5: you have my sincere thanks. And if you're going to
7:57
Speaker 5: tell somebody else that you heard Melly say this, please
8:01
Speaker 5: know that it is a genuine expression of my love
8:04
Speaker 5: for you.
8:05
Speaker 3: And you're going to be launching this podcast. You and
8:07
Speaker 3: Colonel Ron are working on that and we'll give you
8:09
Speaker 3: more information on that. What about the classes, where will
8:11
Speaker 3: the classes be heaving?
8:12
Speaker 5: Well, we're looking for a new location.
8:14
Speaker 7: Okay.
8:14
Speaker 5: You know, I'm donating my building to West Virginia Health
8:17
Speaker 5: Right from the front on the back door, and I
8:20
Speaker 5: am very pleased that I'm in a position to do that.
8:23
Speaker 5: But they are such an awesome group and they help
8:27
Speaker 5: people regardless of where they are in life, whether they
8:31
Speaker 5: have a little insurance or no insurance. They do not
8:33
Speaker 5: go without medical attention. And all the people who work
8:38
Speaker 5: at Health Right are all professionals and their time is volunteered.
8:43
Speaker 5: That's amazing. So I'm adding to that, and it will
8:48
Speaker 5: certainly enhance the West Side more so than what we
8:52
Speaker 5: were able to do by having shape Shop there since
8:55
Speaker 5: well I've been I've been on the West Side since.
8:58
Speaker 5: So we had the weight Watcher office there. We bought
9:01
Speaker 5: the building in nineteen eighty five and used it and
9:04
Speaker 5: used it and used it and used it, and then
9:06
Speaker 5: we converted it to the Shape Shop in twenty twenty.
9:09
Speaker 3: Well, Charleston is certainly losing a great, great business. What
9:12
Speaker 3: about the food truck.
9:12
Speaker 5: Are you gonna well the food truck if someone else
9:14
Speaker 5: is buying that, okay, and they're gonna take it out
9:17
Speaker 5: on the road and find u.
9:18
Speaker 3: Will it still have shape Shop type stuff at it?
9:20
Speaker 8: Not?
9:21
Speaker 3: Well, I don't mean shape Shop specifically, but will it
9:24
Speaker 3: you will it be healthier options or is it just
9:25
Speaker 3: going to be don't.
9:26
Speaker 5: Know what they're going to do, okay, feeling that they're
9:29
Speaker 5: not going to do healthy okay, But I hope maybe
9:32
Speaker 5: I'll be surprised. I hope. So they have to get
9:34
Speaker 5: it rewrapped, okay, because we talk about low calorie, never processed.
9:39
Speaker 5: I hope people will continue to pay attention to that
9:41
Speaker 5: because process food is not good for you. It is
9:44
Speaker 5: not all right, so to become educated.
9:46
Speaker 3: All right, So next week is Thanksgiving, and I know
9:49
Speaker 3: you have a what's become a tradition on this show.
9:51
Speaker 3: You have a little thing that you like to read
9:53
Speaker 3: about Thanksgiving. But before we get to that, portion control
9:57
Speaker 3: is what it's all about on Thanksgiving? Right, are you
9:58
Speaker 3: going to say that?
9:59
Speaker 9: Just?
10:00
Speaker 6: I mean?
10:00
Speaker 3: And when I saying don't have you know what you enjoy,
10:03
Speaker 3: just don't have as much of it.
10:04
Speaker 5: And on that day, have breakfast, have lunch, so that
10:07
Speaker 5: when you sit down to Thanksgiving you are not acting
10:11
Speaker 5: like you haven't eaten in three weeks.
10:14
Speaker 3: I got it. And everybody says put on your fat pants.
10:17
Speaker 3: Don't put on your fat put on your regular pants.
10:19
Speaker 3: So that way, maybe you'll feel a little bit uncomfortable.
10:21
Speaker 5: Exactly right. And then after people stuff themselves and they
10:24
Speaker 5: cannot move and they swear they are never going to
10:27
Speaker 5: eat again from the kitchen, they hear this word deserve, deserves,
10:31
Speaker 5: and suddenly they find room in those tight pants.
10:35
Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, so you got something you want to
10:37
Speaker 3: read for us? This has become a tradition yes on
10:41
Speaker 3: your final visit before Thanksgiving. So we want you to
10:44
Speaker 3: go ahead. And Matt Guitar Murphy is our producer day Matt,
10:47
Speaker 3: I don't know if you've ever had the opportunity to
10:49
Speaker 3: hear this or not, but oh, it's one you definitely
10:51
Speaker 3: want to pay attention to, sir.
10:52
Speaker 5: And I also, this is not my last visit. No,
10:54
Speaker 5: I'm I'm not leaving. I'm here. I'm just telling you.
10:59
Speaker 3: Okay, you're here in the new year. Okay, Oh, absolutely good.
11:02
Speaker 5: So are you ready? It's called black go ahead, Black November.
11:08
Speaker 5: When I was a young Turkey new to the coop,
11:10
Speaker 5: my big brother Mike took me out on the stoop.
11:13
Speaker 5: Then he sat me down and he spoke real slow,
11:15
Speaker 5: and he told me there was something that I had
11:17
Speaker 5: to know. His look, in his tone, I will always
11:19
Speaker 5: remember when he told me of the horrors of Black November.
11:23
Speaker 5: Come about August. Now, listen to me. Each day you'll
11:26
Speaker 5: get six meals instead of just three. And soon you'll
11:29
Speaker 5: be thick where once you were thin, and you'll grow
11:31
Speaker 5: a big rubbery thing under your chin. And then one morning,
11:34
Speaker 5: when you're warm in your bed, it'll burst. The farmer's
11:37
Speaker 5: wife and hack off your head. Then she'll pluck out
11:39
Speaker 5: your feathers so you're bald and pink, and scoop out
11:42
Speaker 5: your insides and leave you lying in the sink. And
11:45
Speaker 5: then comes the worst party, said, not bluffing, she'll spread
11:48
Speaker 5: your cheeks and pack your rear with stuffing. Well, the
11:50
Speaker 5: rest of his words were too grim to repeat. I
11:53
Speaker 5: sat on the stoop like a winged be some meat
11:56
Speaker 5: and decided on the spot that to avoid being cooked,
11:59
Speaker 5: I'd have to lay low and remain overlooked. I began
12:02
Speaker 5: a new diet of nuts and granola, high ruffedged salads,
12:05
Speaker 5: juice and diet cola, And as they ate pastries, chocolate
12:09
Speaker 5: and crapes, I stayed in my room doing Jane Fonda tapes.
12:13
Speaker 5: I maintained my weight of two pounds and a half
12:15
Speaker 5: and tried not to notice when the bigger birds laughed.
12:18
Speaker 5: But twas I who was laughing under my breath as
12:21
Speaker 5: they chomped and they chewed ever closer to death. And
12:24
Speaker 5: sure enough, when Black November rolled around, I was the
12:28
Speaker 5: last turkey left in the entire compound. So now I'm
12:32
Speaker 5: a pet in the farmer's wife's lap. I haven't a worry,
12:36
Speaker 5: so I eat and I nap. She held me today
12:39
Speaker 5: while sewing and humming. She smiled at me and said,
12:43
Speaker 5: Christmas is coming.
12:46
Speaker 3: This is what could be the fourth year. I think
12:48
Speaker 3: that you have probably read this on the show.
12:49
Speaker 5: Loved this story. I used to tell it at weight
12:52
Speaker 5: Watchers and at my Mediterranean group, and now to you.
12:56
Speaker 5: Every four years, I've been doing this all right, Thank you, Dave.
13:00
Speaker 3: I appreciate you being here, Milly.
13:01
Speaker 5: That's my joy, and thank you for all the time
13:04
Speaker 5: we've spend together. And you're making me.
13:08
Speaker 3: Well, you're not going anywhere, You're coming back. You're coming
13:10
Speaker 3: back next I know.
13:12
Speaker 5: But I'm still getting a little cheerio.
13:14
Speaker 6: I know.
13:14
Speaker 3: And well you're an icon here in Charleston. When they
13:18
Speaker 3: do the Mount Rushmore of Charleston, I think you should
13:21
Speaker 3: be up there.
13:22
Speaker 5: I think.
13:22
Speaker 3: So we'll put you right.
13:23
Speaker 5: Up there, and maybe, if they're really kind, they won't
13:25
Speaker 5: do it with gray hair.
13:26
Speaker 3: Okay, we'll let you pick the image that Millie Snyder
13:30
Speaker 3: of the Shape Shop. And the last day in business
13:32
Speaker 3: is on Friday, twenty seconds, all right, So if you
13:36
Speaker 3: get an opportunity, folks, swing by the Shape Shop and

Speaker 3: give us the address again one final time.

17:05
Speaker 3: night Light the Night continues over at Gomart Ballpark. Started
17:08
Speaker 3: last Friday. It's going to run through the New Year's
17:10
Speaker 3: Night every night except for Christmas. I at Rod black
17:14
Speaker 3: Snow Toastmaster is here. Do you do holiday toast?
17:17
Speaker 8: Rod?
17:17
Speaker 3: I mean, is there something like the Christmas theme that
17:18
Speaker 3: you can do for toast?
17:20
Speaker 13: Usually that's just the hot chocolate that has something in
17:22
Speaker 13: it that I'll raise it last with, Hey guys, a
17:25
Speaker 13: mug for it. But yeah, no, no official toasting, no
17:27
Speaker 13: official We're not throwing toast around the ballpark.
17:29
Speaker 3: Okay, all right, all right. Also, like the champagne toast,
17:32
Speaker 3: thank you.
17:33
Speaker 10: That could work.
17:34
Speaker 3: Yeah, we could do a totally different time type post.
17:37
Speaker 13: H So an eggnog with Ameretto over at the ballpark
17:40
Speaker 13: during the Light to Night too, with the rowdy shock.
17:42
Speaker 3: Just so you know, just so you know, that other
17:44
Speaker 3: voice you hear is Gailey Miller from AARP. Gayleen, good morning,
17:47
Speaker 3: Welcome to the show.
17:48
Speaker 5: Good morning.
17:49
Speaker 3: All right, So the slangolo Light to Night started last
17:52
Speaker 3: Friday night. From what I understand, it's been absolutely fantastic.
17:56
Speaker 3: But one of the things that I've talked about this
17:58
Speaker 3: because you know, the Dirty Bird sponsored the show, so
18:00
Speaker 3: every day I can come in here every day and say, well,
18:02
Speaker 3: here's what tonight is and here's what tomorrow night is
18:05
Speaker 3: over at the ballpark for Life to Night. But I
18:07
Speaker 3: think it's easier just to kind of direct people to
18:09
Speaker 3: the social media or to the website or so on
18:11
Speaker 3: and so forth. But I did want to have you
18:13
Speaker 3: guys in because there's something really really special though that's
18:16
Speaker 3: going on with AARP. Talk about that either one of
18:19
Speaker 3: you just jumping there.
18:20
Speaker 14: So last year, we recognize that people with mobility issues
18:26
Speaker 14: may have not been able to enjoy the festivities at
18:29
Speaker 14: the ballpark, and so after the holidays, we sat down,
18:34
Speaker 14: we started talking about it, and so we've come up
18:36
Speaker 14: with a solution. We think so folks who may have
18:39
Speaker 14: some difficulty getting around seeing the two and a half
18:43
Speaker 14: million lights.
18:44
Speaker 13: Two and a half million lights, Yeah, Virginia.
18:46
Speaker 14: They'll be able to enjoy them this year, even though
18:50
Speaker 14: they have some mobility issues.
18:51
Speaker 3: Okay, so what are we doing.
18:53
Speaker 13: Here, Well, we have two golf carts that we're going
18:56
Speaker 13: to have that are going to run cycles from from
19:01
Speaker 13: every edge of the concourse all the way out to
19:03
Speaker 13: left field, around to center field, and then down the ramp,
19:07
Speaker 13: the center field ramp onto the field and then maybe
19:10
Speaker 13: out to the train station. That's the plan, and have
19:12
Speaker 13: two golf carts during the course of the evening that
19:15
Speaker 13: we'll be running those opportunities and be able to take
19:20
Speaker 13: up to three passengers at each time to be able
19:23
Speaker 13: to get folks around and maybe get them get folks
19:26
Speaker 13: down to the train which is on the field. The
19:28
Speaker 13: train is on the field this year, sort of running
19:31
Speaker 13: along the outside for the most part, but sometimes going
19:34
Speaker 13: through it. That was another issue that came up last year.
19:36
Speaker 13: And actually this came up when ARP was at the
19:40
Speaker 13: ballpark last year for a volunteer dinner party, a celebration,
19:45
Speaker 13: a holiday celebration, and we kind of noticed and I'd
19:48
Speaker 13: heard about it also as I was taking tickets last year,
19:51
Speaker 13: and Andy Shay had gotten that feedback too. It is
19:54
Speaker 13: handicap officially handicap accessible. To get into the ballpark, it
19:58
Speaker 13: is not so much to get down to the field.
20:00
Speaker 13: It is possible, and people can take the elevator. If
20:04
Speaker 13: they're in wheelchairs, they can take the elevator down inside
20:07
Speaker 13: the building, down and out through by the clubhouses, or
20:11
Speaker 13: they can walk around or wheel around a center field
20:14
Speaker 13: and go down that ramp, which is not officially an
20:16
Speaker 13: ADA ramp. It's a ramp so you can have access
20:19
Speaker 13: to the field. It wasn't built as an ADA ramp,
20:21
Speaker 13: so that was one of the observations it was made.
20:24
Speaker 13: If you're in a wheelchair, it's kind of hard to
20:27
Speaker 13: go down that ramp, so it's not easy to get there,
20:30
Speaker 13: but so we were trying to make it easier. We've
20:34
Speaker 13: got some help from Nicola Roue at the University of Charleston.
20:37
Speaker 13: She's with the Occupational Therapy graduate program, and she's got
20:42
Speaker 13: some students that are going to help us out and
20:43
Speaker 13: maybe be guideposts for people to say, hey, here's if
20:47
Speaker 13: you want to do this yourself, here's how I can
20:48
Speaker 13: get down to the field. And then the golf carts
20:50
Speaker 13: are a key thing, and we're also going to have
20:53
Speaker 13: we have a bench in the middle of the walkway itself,
20:58
Speaker 13: so for people who are ambulatory but Mike get tired
21:02
Speaker 13: out walking through that may through the amaze and everything
21:05
Speaker 13: else that's there, then they can sit down and take
21:07
Speaker 13: a rest. There's one there and then one out by
21:09
Speaker 13: the play zone and left field. And it all came
21:11
Speaker 13: up because aarp was there and thinking, you know, we
21:15
Speaker 13: need to make this even more accessible and more mobile friendly.
21:19
Speaker 14: Yeah, and it's not just about folks who might be
21:22
Speaker 14: in a wheelchair. You know, we have I have creaky
21:26
Speaker 14: knees and so that can cause me some trouble in
21:30
Speaker 14: terms of how I get around. And I think there
21:32
Speaker 14: are a lot of folks that have those kinds of
21:35
Speaker 14: mobility issues and.
21:36
Speaker 3: It's not always things that you see on the surface, is.
21:38
Speaker 14: What you're trying to say, right, that's correct, and we're
21:41
Speaker 14: super excited to have you see as a partner in this.
21:44
Speaker 14: These graduate students are excited about putting their skills to
21:47
Speaker 14: work that they've learned, and even though the semester might
21:51
Speaker 14: end sooner than the event, does I think they're going
21:54
Speaker 14: to be willing to come back and help us again.
21:57
Speaker 13: Yeah, And so this is sort of a pilot project
22:00
Speaker 13: because it came up and we're thinking, all right, how
22:02
Speaker 13: can we demonstrate that, how can we make this more friendly,
22:07
Speaker 13: user friendly for people? And so we're taking a look
22:10
Speaker 13: at it, focusing a lot of issues, a lot of
22:12
Speaker 13: attention for tomorrow night, and then once we do that,
22:15
Speaker 13: we'll see how it goes. Now, there is snow in
22:17
Speaker 13: the forecast. That complicates a little bit. On one hand,
22:21
Speaker 13: we only had snow one time all the last few years.
22:24
Speaker 3: Well, but this is not going to be the great
22:25
Speaker 3: snowstorm Rod. There's just just in the air mainly as
22:29
Speaker 3: opposed to sticking at least in this area.
22:31
Speaker 14: Right, we are totally at the mercy of mother nature.
22:34
Speaker 13: Sure, and it will be more picturesque than any other night.
22:37
Speaker 13: That's one of the things I noticed we were talking
22:38
Speaker 13: about that earlier, that the one time at snowed last year,
22:41
Speaker 13: when the snow happened, you saw a little bit of
22:43
Speaker 13: a surge of activities. People thought, Hey, this is the
22:46
Speaker 13: chance to get that picture or those pictures.
22:48
Speaker 3: Yes, I told when I actually last week when I
22:50
Speaker 3: had Andy Sheay and I had Ben Selango on the show,
22:52
Speaker 3: we were talking about that about I said, now, mark
22:55
Speaker 3: my words, if you get snow, even if it's just
22:57
Speaker 3: a couple of flurries in the air, so it's or
22:59
Speaker 3: maybe just a little bit on the on the on
23:01
Speaker 3: the infield turf, always say infield grass, but on the
23:03
Speaker 3: infield turf or whatever that you're gonna have more people
23:06
Speaker 3: probably come out because it just kind of adds to
23:08
Speaker 3: the ads, to the whole ambiance.
23:10
Speaker 13: Absolutely, it's it's a visual thing to begin with, so
23:12
Speaker 13: the snow makes it that much more visual for the holidays.
23:14
Speaker 13: But I gotta thank AARP is a great community partnership.
23:17
Speaker 3: Yeah.
23:18
Speaker 14: Well, not to be a Debbie downer, but the snow
23:20
Speaker 14: could deter some folks who have mobility, is yes, Okay, Well,
23:24
Speaker 14: but we hope they come out, they hope, we hope
23:27
Speaker 14: they'll try, and.
23:28
Speaker 13: They'll make it as easy as possible for them under
23:30
Speaker 13: every circumstance.
23:31
Speaker 3: Absolutely, talking again with Gayleen Miller from AARP and Rod
23:34
Speaker 3: Blackstone about light the Night the AARP, that may just
23:38
Speaker 3: make it a little bit more accessible for those of
23:39
Speaker 3: wan who enjoy the Lights over at Go ball Park
23:41
Speaker 3: is part of the Selango Law Light the Night the
23:43
Speaker 3: Dave Island showing five Any Live broad to part by
23:45
Speaker 3: Generations Physical Therapy offering concussion care, pre and post operative rehab,
23:49
Speaker 3: fall prevention, water therapy, women's health workers comp and more.
23:53
Speaker 3: And they are the experts in treating back and neck pain.
23:55
Speaker 3: For an appointment three zero four, seven, six zero fifty
23:57
Speaker 3: six to sixty or visit Generations p TA. So let's
24:01
Speaker 3: talk about you know, I thought about this earlier because
24:04
Speaker 3: I was someone to talk to Solango and Shay last week,
24:06
Speaker 3: which you know, sounds like like a maybe a detective
24:10
Speaker 3: agency or something. When I talked to Selango and Shay
24:12
Speaker 3: last week, we were talking about the groups that come in,
24:15
Speaker 3: you know, and I would think that by making these
24:18
Speaker 3: somewhat these modifications, if you will, Rod and Gayleen, that
24:22
Speaker 3: that may encourage more of the elder care facilities to
24:25
Speaker 3: come in, or church groups or things of that nature.
24:28
Speaker 13: No, I think that's very true because especially if you're
24:32
Speaker 13: looking at being able to reach out to some place
24:34
Speaker 13: like Edgewood Summit or any of the any of the
24:37
Speaker 13: nursing homes or long term care homes that are around here.
24:39
Speaker 13: I think that's that does help make it better. And
24:43
Speaker 13: I think last year, as we were trying to get
24:45
Speaker 13: everything together sort of not quite flying blind, but pretty close,
24:50
Speaker 13: it was harder to be able to address the specific
24:52
Speaker 13: things and the specific needs that came up. And that's
24:54
Speaker 13: why this is a great community partnership with the ARP.
24:57
Speaker 13: Gayleen that night was saying, you know, there are some
25:00
Speaker 13: things that we might want to try to do better
25:03
Speaker 13: to help people get around and using the train to
25:06
Speaker 13: help people get around at that point, and so that's
25:09
Speaker 13: that's how it became sort of the vision is now
25:11
Speaker 13: becoming a reality. But you're you're absolutely right, and I
25:13
Speaker 13: think that's one of the things gives me an idea
25:16
Speaker 13: that we need to coordinate that when we set other
25:18
Speaker 13: dates for additional mobility friendly nights, then I think we'll
25:23
Speaker 13: try to target some of those folks too. And I
25:25
Speaker 13: thought it was a happy coincidence the read that you
25:27
Speaker 13: just made for another sponsor that's dealing with occupational physical therapy.
25:31
Speaker 13: It'd sponsored the show Generation's Physical Therapy General. We might
25:35
Speaker 13: be able to get them to go partnership in the future.
25:37
Speaker 3: Well, there you go.
25:39
Speaker 14: Rod's always thinking, always.
25:40
Speaker 3: Think, always looking for partnership, always thinking man, always thinking,
25:44
Speaker 3: how's everything gone so far? I had, as I said
25:47
Speaker 3: on opening night, I had the folks on last week,
25:49
Speaker 3: but overall Rod has thing's been going over to light
25:51
Speaker 3: the night.
25:52
Speaker 2: So far, so good.
25:52
Speaker 13: The weekend was pretty strong and it was a lot
25:55
Speaker 13: of people coming out and it was pretty nice weather
25:57
Speaker 13: last night was a little rain is what really is
26:00
Speaker 13: or the thing that is a DeBie downer, Yeah, because
26:03
Speaker 13: the Roses called that cold, that cold November rain, you know, yeah,
26:06
Speaker 13: and it was. It wasn't too cold, but it was rainy.
26:09
Speaker 13: And that's I noticed that last year a lot of
26:11
Speaker 13: times whenever it rained, the crowd was a little bit depressed.
26:14
Speaker 13: But still we had one hundred and twenty thousand people
26:16
Speaker 13: even with a few rain showers last year, and last
26:20
Speaker 13: night a few hundred that came out still and that figured,
26:24
Speaker 13: you know, this is a good time to see it,
26:26
Speaker 13: and went and and weather the rain. So rain can
26:30
Speaker 13: can depress the crowd a little bit, but it's still
26:33
Speaker 13: a great place to be and it's amazing visually. I
26:35
Speaker 13: mean I noticed that last week when I did my
26:37
Speaker 13: first walk through. You can tell the difference that the
26:41
Speaker 13: extra five hundred thousand lights.
26:43
Speaker 3: Just the extra few, you know, yeah, an extra few,
26:46
Speaker 3: five hundred thousand lives that they've added this year. Well,
26:48
Speaker 3: you know, I know, and especially as we get after
26:50
Speaker 3: Thanksgiving and next week is a lot when you have
26:52
Speaker 3: it's the busiest travel day of the year, they say
26:54
Speaker 3: on Wednesday, So a lot of people that may live
26:56
Speaker 3: out of state are going to be coming in and
26:58
Speaker 3: everybody's going to gorge themselves on turkey, and they're gonna
27:01
Speaker 3: watch football on Thanksgiving Day. But after by Friday, they're
27:05
Speaker 3: gonna be sick of their family and they want to
27:07
Speaker 3: get out of the house.
27:07
Speaker 8: Yeah.
27:08
Speaker 13: And you'll also have the sort of tag teaming with
27:10
Speaker 13: the City and Holly Jolly Brawley and Capital Market going on.
27:14
Speaker 3: Yeah, and you got that going. I mean, it's just
27:15
Speaker 3: so many things. And I mentioned somebody the other day
27:17
Speaker 3: before we let you guys go. December the fifth, you
27:20
Speaker 3: got the Trans Siberian Orchestra show over at the Cottle's
27:24
Speaker 3: Seeming Convention Center. You got the Charleston Christmas Parade, you
27:27
Speaker 3: got Holly Jolly Brawley. You've got Light the Night, which
27:30
Speaker 3: is continuing. If there's one single night to be in Charleston.
27:35
Speaker 3: It may be December the fifth, because that's when everything
27:37
Speaker 3: is going to be going on in Charleston related to Christmas.
27:39
Speaker 13: We'll have five hundred thousand people in the city.
27:42
Speaker 3: That's that's what we're hoping for. Hey, Galen, hats off
27:44
Speaker 3: to AARP for seeing this need and helping some of
27:47
Speaker 3: our folks to be able to enjoy the lights as well.
27:49
Speaker 3: And Rod you always you and the folks that the
27:51
Speaker 3: Dirty Birds always do a great job, great community partners.
27:53
Speaker 3: Big shout out to the folks at the University of
27:55
Speaker 3: Charleston too for because none of this happens, none of
27:58
Speaker 3: these things with light, the Knight, Holly, Jolly Brawley, whatever
28:01
Speaker 3: is going on, none of it happens without buying from
28:03
Speaker 3: the community. And we get the best people in the
28:05
Speaker 3: world here in the Kenawa Valley.
28:06
Speaker 13: And ARP made the UC connection too.
28:08

Speaker 3: we finally got to figured it out. High school sports
31:30
Speaker 3: and high school playoffs in West Virginia. They games are
31:32
Speaker 3: gonna start Friday run through the weekend. Fred and I
31:35
Speaker 3: will talk about that a little bit later on. Only
31:37
Speaker 3: the first name on the door will change is Chris
31:40
Speaker 3: Warner will be taking over for brother Mac as the
31:42
Speaker 3: Secretary of State of West Virginia, the voters making that
31:44
Speaker 3: decision a couple of weeks ago. Chris Warner joins us. Now,
31:47
Speaker 3: good morning, sir, welcome to the show.
31:48
Speaker 6: Hey, thanks David, it's always great to see you here
31:51
Speaker 6: in studio.
31:51
Speaker 3: And congratulations on the win. Thank you very much, sir.
31:55
Speaker 3: It was a resounding victory for you. What do you
31:58
Speaker 3: think it was, sir, about your message really that the
32:02
Speaker 3: voter's picked up on, Dave.
32:05
Speaker 6: I think, first of all, you know, continuing the progress
32:07
Speaker 6: that Mac has started, that the staff you were a
32:11
Speaker 6: part of that at one point, working with county clerks
32:14
Speaker 6: and working with the legislature. I carried that message out,
32:19
Speaker 6: making sure that it was clear that I was going
32:22
Speaker 6: to follow the letter of the law as laid out
32:24
Speaker 6: by the West Virginia Legislature. But I think it was
32:27
Speaker 6: a matter of consistency and continuation of the excellent work
32:32
Speaker 6: that's already been started by current Secretary of State Mac Warner.
32:36
Speaker 6: I think the voters were pretty loud and clear about
32:38
Speaker 6: who they thought would be best to finish that job.
32:42
Speaker 3: So I want to because you're kind of in a
32:44
Speaker 3: unique position here, Chris, because you're a past party chair
32:47
Speaker 3: of the Republican Party in state of West Virginia. I
32:49
Speaker 3: want to get away from the office just for a
32:51
Speaker 3: moment and talk about the Republican Party in West Virginia.
32:53
Speaker 3: And I've talked about this.
32:54
Speaker 6: I had JB.
32:54
Speaker 3: McCuskey on the show yesterday talking about it. I've talked
32:56
Speaker 3: about with others as well. It is a pretty good
33:01
Speaker 3: time to be a Republican right now in West Virginia.
33:05
Speaker 3: And when you look I think that they are going
33:08
Speaker 3: to study this. I think that the next or the
33:11
Speaker 3: two or three generations from now, when they look at
33:14
Speaker 3: the history, even not only in West Virginia, but also
33:17
Speaker 3: across the country, when they look at political history, they're
33:20
Speaker 3: going to look back on this as a remarkable time
33:22
Speaker 3: and a transformation after eighty three years of democratic rule
33:27
Speaker 3: into a super I've got to come up with another
33:30
Speaker 3: names super majority, super duper Now it's super duper duper majority. Yeah,
33:35
Speaker 3: you know, Dave, I started back, you know, right before
33:40
Speaker 3: the turn of the century. Sounds weird to say that, No,
33:43
Speaker 3: it does makes me feel really old.
33:46
Speaker 6: But you know, the one thing that one of the
33:48
Speaker 6: things I would point to that you know that I
33:50
Speaker 6: got to be a part of is not only a
33:53
Speaker 6: county chairman, but then as the state Republican Party chairman,
33:57
Speaker 6: was realizing that we needed to challenge every single race
34:01
Speaker 6: in the legislature. When I came on board, we were
34:03
Speaker 6: not challenging every single race in the legislature, and there
34:06
Speaker 6: were folks like Senator Capito that you know, then needed help,
34:11
Speaker 6: and so we made sure that we challenged every seat
34:14
Speaker 6: in the legislature and things really started to turn at
34:18
Speaker 6: that point. I know everybody has a different view on
34:21
Speaker 6: what it took to build the party that we now see,
34:24
Speaker 6: but that was one of the biggest things. That and
34:26
Speaker 6: raising money to make sure that they had enough money
34:29
Speaker 6: to compete. Before that, you know, you would have a
34:33
Speaker 6: really good candidate, but if there weren't challengers in the
34:36
Speaker 6: districts around that candidate, the Democrats would team up and
34:40
Speaker 6: beat up on a very good Republican and we couldn't
34:43
Speaker 6: elect anyone. So challenging every one of those one hundred
34:46
Speaker 6: House seats, every one of the seventeen state Senate seats
34:49
Speaker 6: that comes up every four years, was key in building
34:53
Speaker 6: the party that we now have and what we get
34:55
Speaker 6: to enjoy.
34:56
Speaker 3: Talking with Chris Warner again, who is the Secretary of
34:58
Speaker 3: stateed elect for the City of West Virginia. Okay, let's
35:00
Speaker 3: get back to the office. What are you plans, what
35:02
Speaker 3: do you got going on?
35:03
Speaker 6: You know, I'm anxious to work with the professional staff.
35:06
Speaker 6: I've already started transition meetings. But they just have an
35:11
Speaker 6: unbelievable staff at the Secretary of State's office, you know,
35:15
Speaker 6: whether it's Brittany and her team and elections, Delilah and
35:19
Speaker 6: her work at HR Sarah in the business division. But
35:23
Speaker 6: I'm anxious to go to work with those folks. But
35:25
Speaker 6: also in the very first thirty days of being in office,
35:30
Speaker 6: the very next day, I'm going to be out on
35:31
Speaker 6: the road visiting with all fifty five county clerks in
35:35
Speaker 6: each one of their counties, basically a listening tour, listening
35:39
Speaker 6: to them, seeing what's on their mind, asking questions about
35:42
Speaker 6: things that we've all read about in the newspapers or
35:45
Speaker 6: heard on the radio about happened, you know, what happened
35:48
Speaker 6: in this last election. I need to listen, learn, and
35:52
Speaker 6: then be back in town for when the legislature comes
35:54
Speaker 6: in at in session and quite frankly, be an advocate
35:58
Speaker 6: for those county clerks with the West Virginia Legislature on
36:02
Speaker 6: election issues.
36:03
Speaker 3: And I think sometimes and the listeners have heard me
36:05
Speaker 3: say this numerous times, Chris, and as I said, full disclosure,
36:09
Speaker 3: I was a former employee the secretary of State's office.
36:12
Speaker 3: You don't maybe the average person doesn't realize everything, but
36:16
Speaker 3: the Secretary of State's office does. I don't know that
36:18
Speaker 3: there is an office in that capital that affects people's
36:22
Speaker 3: daily lives as much as the Secretary of State's office does.
36:25
Speaker 3: And you sit in there thinking, well, what is he
36:27
Speaker 3: talking about. If you are involved in any sort of
36:31
Speaker 3: a charitable organization, it comes to the Secretary of State's office.
36:35
Speaker 3: If you are obviously you know your voter that's what
36:37
Speaker 3: everybody thinks of as voter registration and things of that nature.
36:40
Speaker 3: It runs through the secretary of State's office. Your business
36:43
Speaker 3: you're licensing, all comes through the Secretary of State's office.
36:46
Speaker 3: There's a whole lot of stuff that gets done. Elections
36:49
Speaker 3: gets all of the attention. That's actually one of the smaller,
36:54
Speaker 3: smaller roles of the Secretary of State.
36:56
Speaker 6: Yeah, I think only six of the fifty onemployees are
37:00
Speaker 6: focused on elections, and quite Frankly, one of the things.
37:03
Speaker 6: I mean my business background, you know, is in building
37:07
Speaker 6: business and enterprise centers in Morgantown, Philippi and Kaiser, and
37:12
Speaker 6: I'm very anxious to work with Sarah and her team
37:15
Speaker 6: in the Business division to figure out how we can
37:18
Speaker 6: help new businesses be more than just the chief business registrar,
37:24
Speaker 6: but to help them have early successes. And many times
37:28
Speaker 6: that's just connecting them with other people that will help
37:30
Speaker 6: that business succeed. Other times it's a matter of connecting
37:34
Speaker 6: them with financial resources. And I want to bring what
37:38
Speaker 6: I've done at USDA Rural Development under President Trump and
37:42
Speaker 6: now under the leadership of Governor Justice at the Economic
37:46
Speaker 6: Development Authority to every new business it's registering. If they
37:51
Speaker 6: want the help, we're going to be there to help them.
37:53
Speaker 3: Talking again to you, sigatory your state. Like Chris one

38:19
Speaker 3: mentioned your work with the legislature, because that's something that
38:22
Speaker 3: every January, all the offices, constitutional office holders, they have
38:25
Speaker 3: to get in there and they have to talk to
38:26
Speaker 3: a new legislature. But you're kind of hitting the ground
38:29
Speaker 3: running here, sir, because there's going to be a bunch
38:31
Speaker 3: of new legislators in but there's also going to be
38:33
Speaker 3: a new governor, and these offices, whether it's you or
38:36
Speaker 3: Attorney General or whatever, you have to work hand in hand,
38:39
Speaker 3: or at least you should with the with the governor's office.
38:42
Speaker 3: Talk about working with the new governor, Patrick Morrissey.
38:45
Speaker 6: You know, my older brother Mike was a candidate in
38:47
Speaker 6: that race. But I made it very clear the day
38:49
Speaker 6: after the election that we are one hundred percent behind
38:52
Speaker 6: Governor Morrissey. Governor elect Morrissey of seeing him out several
38:57
Speaker 6: times since the election, and and made it clear everywhere
39:01
Speaker 6: I go that I want to be a part of
39:02
Speaker 6: that team. Anxious to go to work with the governor
39:07
Speaker 6: elect and with the legislature. You mentioned that, you know,
39:10
Speaker 6: when I came on board at EDA, there was a
39:14
Speaker 6: severe need for additional funding for the projects that we've
39:17
Speaker 6: been involved with, you know, the Berkshire Hathaway time at
39:22
Speaker 6: you know, Mountaintop Beverage and now Prime sixth with the
39:25
Speaker 6: announcement coming up on Friday. But that all took work
39:28
Speaker 6: with the legislature to tell them, let them know how
39:31
Speaker 6: important it was that we needed funding to help these
39:36
Speaker 6: new businesses locating in the state. In fact, I met
39:40
Speaker 6: with sixty six legislators one on one as soon as
39:44
Speaker 6: I came on board at DA. I know we have
39:46
Speaker 6: quite a bit of a changeover many times you'll see
39:48
Speaker 6: twenty to thirty percent changeover in each election. I've got
39:52
Speaker 6: new legislators I need to meet and work with, but
39:55
Speaker 6: I'm anxious to do that.
39:56
Speaker 3: I want to give you the opportunity, sir, to throw
39:59
Speaker 3: out some things voters, family, whatever the time is yours, sir. Well,
40:04
Speaker 3: First of all, Dave, I would say there were over
40:06
Speaker 3: half a million voters that voted for me. I greatly
40:09
Speaker 3: appreciate that. I will do everything I can not to
40:13
Speaker 3: let those voters down. I'm very appreciative for the Secretary
40:17
Speaker 3: of State Staff. You know, when my wife and I
40:20
Speaker 3: ran this campaign, we ran a lean and mean campaign. Joyce,
40:24
Speaker 3: who's a public school teacher here in Kanah County, was
40:27
Speaker 3: my treasure. Every time we had a question, we would call.
40:31
Speaker 3: Never gave the last name, just gave the first name
40:33
Speaker 3: and said we need we need help. They were unbelievable.
40:36
Speaker 6: So I want to thank the Secretary of State Staff
40:40
Speaker 6: for helping us get through a statewide campaign. Had never
40:43
Speaker 6: been a candidate at the state wide level before. I
40:47
Speaker 6: also want to thank you here in the Kanaal Valley.
40:49

40:57

41:00
Speaker 6: the very beginning, you know, when I needed to find
41:02
Speaker 6: people that would believe that we could do this raise
41:05
Speaker 6: the money we needed to. So those are the folks
41:07
Speaker 6: I'd like to thank publicly. Dave and I appreciate that
41:10

Speaker 7: school football goes. The thing I feel bad about they didn't.
46:08
Speaker 7: It didn't come down to like four thirty four yesterday well,
46:12
Speaker 7: Saint Mary's and Tulsa were supposed to play at Herbert
46:15
Speaker 7: Hoover last night at seven, Saint Mary's was already there.
46:18
Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll just say they're at least on their way.
46:20
Speaker 7: If they don't play, don't play, don't play, go back,
46:22
Speaker 7: go back about it.
46:23
Speaker 3: Just kidding.
46:23
Speaker 7: At least we're playing high school football. And hey, yeah,
46:27
Speaker 7: I'm sure the hot Dogs are close to being ready,
46:29
Speaker 7: would you.
46:30
Speaker 3: I would think so.
46:31
Speaker 7: Think they do well there without a So, yeah, it's
46:33
Speaker 7: finally over, thank the good Lord, and we can get
46:36
Speaker 7: back to playing football. And we do have thirty two
46:38
Speaker 7: games this weekend. You mentioned snow. I know that in
46:42
Speaker 7: Beckley there's supposed to get four to eight inches. But
46:45
Speaker 7: again Beckley, now if the bus can leave, Beckley's playing
46:48
Speaker 7: in Morgantown, so they'll be fine. Elkins they're playing in Elki,
46:52
Speaker 7: so they'd be fine if they can get out of there.
46:54
Speaker 7: There's a couple of games in the area where snow
46:57
Speaker 7: is expected. That's in single A and we'll see what
47:00
Speaker 7: happens there with morefield. But I think the one thing
47:05
Speaker 7: they've got fixed tomorrow night, I now this is Wednesday
47:08
Speaker 7: on Friday night, is there was already a game scheduled
47:11
Speaker 7: at Mitchell Stadium in Bluefield, Graham, Virginia. Graham and Bluefield
47:16
Speaker 7: share that stadium and Graham's in the playoffs, and they
47:19
Speaker 7: have already had a playoff game scheduled for Friday night.
47:22
Speaker 7: Now that they said they were going to try and
47:24
Speaker 7: work it out, I don't know what that means. I mean,
47:27
Speaker 7: you can't have two games at the same time. Maybe
47:29
Speaker 7: they can play a game early and may make it
47:31
Speaker 7: a doubleheader and make a lot of money.
47:33
Speaker 3: Well, one plays in the parking lot, Yeah.
47:36
Speaker 7: There you go, that would work. Well, you got Bowen
47:37
Speaker 7: Field right up the street there, just go ahead and
47:39
Speaker 7: play there. But I don't know what they'll do there.
47:40
Speaker 7: But that's a game scheduled for Friday night involving blue Field,
47:44
Speaker 7: so we'll see how that goes as well. But again,
47:46
Speaker 7: we have i think nineteen games right now scheduled for
47:50
Speaker 7: Friday night and then thirteen game scheduled Saturday.
47:52
Speaker 3: And I'm presuming because I haven't seen the email go out,
47:54
Speaker 3: but maybe it has. I've been doing radio for the
47:56
Speaker 3: last hour and a half. We are going to have
47:58
Speaker 3: coverage here on our.
47:59
Speaker 7: Statue on WCCHS Friday night. It'll be Herbert Hoover against
48:05
Speaker 7: who they're playing. They are playing George Washington. And then
48:08
Speaker 7: Saturday on CHS as well, they'll move the WVU coverage
48:12
Speaker 7: over to fourteen ninety for a while and they will
48:14
Speaker 7: do the Nitro game and the Nitro Wildcats are playing
48:17
Speaker 7: the Shady Spring Tigers at one o'clock, so we're gonna
48:20
Speaker 7: pick up the Nitrouk games in both games on CHS.
48:23
Speaker 3: All right, well, Fred, you and Joe and Travis and
48:26
Speaker 3: the whole team have done a whole lot of work.
48:28
Speaker 3: But you said you would have the information before anybody did,
48:30
Speaker 3: and you did yesterday.
48:32
Speaker 7: It was good.
48:33
Speaker 2: It was good.
48:33
Speaker 7: And I called Dave and boom, he got it right on.
48:36
Speaker 7: And that's the way you're supposed to do live radio.
48:38
Speaker 7: That's what local live radio is about, exactly.
48:40
Speaker 3: Rad I appreciated me. I'm gonna leave you alone for
48:42
Speaker 3: a couple days. Mean, I don't get to come back. Now,
48:43
Speaker 3: you can come back anytime you want, but I think
48:45
Speaker 3: I'm going to leave you alone for a couple of days,
48:47
Speaker 3: and of course you will go back to having a
48:49
Speaker 3: game night. I didn't miss I was supposed gonna say,
48:52
Speaker 3: but you'll go back to having any regular more regular.
48:54
Speaker 7: Playofflab game wors Friday night. Then we'll have our show
48:57
Speaker 7: Sunday night, second hour.
48:58
Speaker 3: High school sports line.
48:59
Speaker 7: Yeah, night tonight, Yes, tonight, I've got I'm been looking
49:02
Speaker 7: forward tonight. Justin Koeger from West Side. His team is
49:06
Speaker 7: back in. They were out the other back in.
49:08
Speaker 3: He's going to join us.
49:09
Speaker 7: Noevella Tomby the headquarter, the headquarter, the quarterback of Hurricane
49:14
Speaker 7: will join us. Then David Price called him yesterday evening
49:17
Speaker 7: about five thirty. Hey, Frick, can I come on your
49:19
Speaker 7: show to them to night? I really want to talk
49:21
Speaker 7: has a sure, David? What time you want to be here?
49:23
Speaker 14: Yeah?
49:23
Speaker 7: So he's going to joinus at seven fifty and I
49:24
Speaker 7: haven't seen the second hour myself.
49:26
Speaker 3: Okay, well it'll be a surprise to you and everybody else.
49:28
Speaker 6: Fred.
49:29
Speaker 3: I appreciate you being here man. Thanks a lotting, all right.
49:31
Speaker 3: I had a text here. Since a text Dave, I'm
49:34
Speaker 3: an independent voter, and I think things have gotten worse
49:37
Speaker 3: than Republicans. My utilities have gone up one hundred and
49:40
Speaker 3: fifty percent thanks to Biden and his green jobs has
49:42
Speaker 3: coming to our state, like New Course Steel Electric bus plant,
49:45
Speaker 3: the battery plant states will will be broken one year. Okay,
49:50
Speaker 3: this says a texture coming up on tomorrow show mentioned
49:52
Speaker 3: this earlier. It's our annual turkey drop out here on
49:54
Speaker 3: our parking lot eleven eleven Virginia Street's and Charleston will
49:57
Speaker 3: be outstanding in the rain or snow or whatever happens,
50:00
Speaker 3: starting at seven am tomorrow morning, wrapping up about six
50:02
Speaker 3: pm tomorrow night. You can drop us off a frozen
50:05
Speaker 3: turkey or a cash donation of any kind. We'll take it.
50:08
Speaker 3: A big shout out to Mountain Mission and Cosmetic Express
50:11
Speaker 3: for helping us out with the second event. All of
50:14
Speaker 3: our stations personalities are gonna be out there. You're gonna
50:17
Speaker 3: be hearing from several of them on the show tomorrow.
50:19
Speaker 3: As a matter of fact, I know Rob Real from
50:21
Speaker 3: ninety six to one KWS, this was kind of his
50:24
Speaker 3: baby to begin with. Robin's going to stop by the
50:25
Speaker 3: studio tomorrow. Rob is just happy he didn't have to
50:27
Speaker 3: work any or at a walk anywhere, So just out
50:30
Speaker 3: to the parking lot. So Rob will be stopping by.
50:33
Speaker 3: I know Logan from V one hundred is going to
50:34
Speaker 3: be stopping by the studio. Tomorrrew to talk about that
50:36
Speaker 3: and speaking of Logan and the folks across the hall
50:39
Speaker 3: from US at V one hundred, they've got this Thanksgiving
50:42
Speaker 3: recipe thing going on and they've got details available on
50:46
Speaker 3: the V one hundred social media about that. I'm gonna
50:48
Speaker 3: bring Logan in to talk about that tomorrow, Plus doctor
50:51
Speaker 3: Casey Sackevibridge Valley will be on the show tomorrow as well.
50:55
Speaker 3: Older adults should protect themselves against severe respiratory disease. Talk
50:58
Speaker 3: to your doctor about flu, COVID nineteen and RISV vaccines
51:01
Speaker 3: risk Less do more gets started at vaccines dot gov.
51:04
Speaker 3: That's vaccines dot gov, paid for by the US Department
51:06
Speaker 3: of Health and Human Services. I did want to throw
51:10
Speaker 3: this out here as well, and I don't know, I
51:12
Speaker 3: always hate doing things at the end of the show,
51:14
Speaker 3: but I am going to get into this a whole
51:15
Speaker 3: lot over the next couple of days and in the
51:17
Speaker 3: next week. Charleston City Council is going to be tackling,
51:21
Speaker 3: or at least they want to panhandling in the city.
51:24
Speaker 3: It's a definite problem and it's also a major safety issue.
51:28
Speaker 3: During Monday nights council meeting, the Ordinance and Rules Committee
51:31
Speaker 3: drafted up a bill similar to one recently passing wheeling
51:35
Speaker 3: and under the bill, interactions. Under this bill, interactions between
51:39
Speaker 3: cars and pedestrians would be outlawed on many streets in
51:42
Speaker 3: the city. Now we're talking roads with speed limits greater
51:45
Speaker 3: than twenty five miles an hour, medians or roads that
51:49
Speaker 3: are less than ten feet wide, roads with poor no lighting,
51:51
Speaker 3: to night roads during inclement weather. You get the idea.
51:55
Speaker 3: It's going to be controversial to say the lease because
51:58
Speaker 3: like it or not, and like it or not, I'm
51:59
Speaker 3: going to go on record saying I'm one hundred percent
52:01
Speaker 3: behind this, but similar bills across the country have been
52:05
Speaker 3: struck down on first amendments laws. So I'm gonna get
52:08
Speaker 3: into this a whole lot over the next couple of
52:10
Speaker 3: days as we head into next week as well. My
52:12
Speaker 3: producer was Mac Guitar Murphy. Thank you so much. Thanks
52:15
Speaker 3: to the Toastmaster. Rod like Stone and Gayleen Miller stopped
52:18
Speaker 3: by today and also Millie Snyder and Secretary of State
52:21
Speaker 3: of Chris Horner and Fred Pursinger. Tomorrow's second annual Turkey Drop,
52:25
Speaker 3: Doctor Casey Sacksonbridge Valley, and Logan Scott for free one
52:28
Speaker 3: hundred on the show tomorrow I'll be coming up a
52:30
Speaker 3: ten oh six Metro News talk line. Download the all
52:32
Speaker 3: new Metro News TV app at the WVRC Media app too.
52:35
Speaker 3: For my producer Mac Guitar Murphy, thank you so much.
52:38
Speaker 3: I will see you tomorrow. Till that have fun. I
52:41
Speaker 3: love somebody,
