Latest / Sri Aurobindo Studies / The Soul's Aspiration for Adherence to the Divine Will in Manifestation
Transcript
- 0:01The most direct way to align oneself with the divine will is
- 0:05to treat the soul, the psychic being, as the standpoint from
- 0:10which the being takes its stance.
- 0:13This is not a mental analysis, a desire of the vital, or a
- 0:18physical need or impulsion. Rather, it takes the form of an
- 0:23aspiration, a prayer, a consecration which recognizes
- 0:29the Divine as the focus, driver and director of all one's
- 0:34actions. The Mother observes quote Every
- 0:40morning my aspiration rises ardently to Thee, and in the
- 0:45silence of my satisfied heart I ask that Thy law of love be may
- 0:50be expressed, that Thy will may manifest.
- 0:56And in anticipation I adhere with joy and serenity to those
- 1:01circumstances which will express this law and this will.
- 1:07Oh, why be restless and want that for oneself things should
- 1:12turn out in one way and not another?
- 1:15Why decide that a particular set of circumstances will be the
- 1:19expression of the best possibilities, and then launch
- 1:24into a bitter struggle so that these possibilities may be
- 1:28realized? Why not use all one's energy
- 1:32solely to will, in the calm of inner confidence that thy law
- 1:38may triumph everywhere and always over all difficulties,
- 1:44all darkness, all egoism. How the horizon widens as soon
- 1:51as one learns to take this attitude.
- 1:54How all anxiety vanishes, giving place to a constant
- 2:00illumination, to the omnipotence of disinterestedness to will.
- 2:07What Thou willest, O Lord, is to live constantly in communion
- 2:12with Thee, to be delivered from all contingencies, to escape all
- 2:17narrowness, to fill one's lungs with pure and wholesome air, to
- 2:23get rid of all useless weariness, be relieved of all
- 2:28cumbrous loads, so as to run briskly towards the only goal
- 2:32worth attaining the triumph of Thy Divine Law.
- 2:39O Lord, with what joy and trust I greet Thee this morning.
