- 0:00Speaker 1: There's a debate going on with Kyle and her friends,
- 0:01Speaker 1: but this is a perfect segue. Jess, who is the
- 0:06Speaker 1: executive director of Love Pop and Love Up, and she's
- 0:08Speaker 1: also a marathon runner and Olympic person.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Superstar.
- 0:13Speaker 1: And going to be in the world trials and represent us.
- 0:15Speaker 2: She's amazing, right?
- 0:16Speaker 3: One of our best humans.
- 0:17Speaker 1: She just texted me something, and I said, you've got
- 0:19Speaker 1: to jump on there with us. She just texted me
- 0:20Speaker 1: because we were talking. Well, Jess, good morning.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Hi, Jess.
- 0:24Speaker 4: Hello. Hi. How are you guys?
- 0:26Speaker 2: Great.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Hey, can you just explain to Peyton, Rich, and Kyle
- 0:30Speaker 1: what you just texted me, please?
- 0:32Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 0:33Speaker 4: So my high school friends were a good time. We're
- 0:37Speaker 4: all super fun, but had the great idea of, because
- 0:40Speaker 4: we realized like none of us knew what each other
- 0:43Speaker 4: did for work. We'd all be like, oh yeah, like Haley. Actually,
- 0:46Speaker 4: I don't know what Haley does. And Lauren's a physical therapist,
- 0:49Speaker 4: I think. So we all got together. It was like
- 0:52Speaker 4: probably 15 of us and we put like five to
- 0:55Speaker 4: eight power slips like PowerPoint slides together each and presented
- 0:58Speaker 4: our jobs to each other. It was like a happy hour.
- 1:00Speaker 4: So it was super fun.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Here's what I do. That's what, that's what your PowerPoint was.
- 1:04Speaker 1: I love that.
- 1:05Speaker 5: That's so funny.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:06Speaker 6: Because there are three of my friends and I don't
- 1:08Speaker 6: know what they do.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Right. Oh yeah.
- 1:10Speaker 4: Like three of my friends are like, Had just like crazy,
- 1:13Speaker 4: you know, I won't say badass on air, but like
- 1:15Speaker 4: crazy awesome jobs. And we were like, oh my God,
- 1:18Speaker 4: I had no idea you worked for like the Department
- 1:20Speaker 4: of Agriculture. It was super fun. So you're talking.
- 1:23Speaker 1: About because I was talking about this person didn't know
- 1:26Speaker 1: what their friend did for a living and she got
- 1:27Speaker 1: all upset. And so I was like, yeah. is this
- 1:30Speaker 1: relatable and absolutely 15 friends and you know what they do.
- 1:33Speaker 2: How would we do that? Here's what we do for
- 1:34Speaker 2: a living. Do a radio show. Yeah.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Host a morning radio show. It's like morning announcements.
- 1:39Speaker 5: In high school.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Explain to us what you do for a living. What?
- 1:42Speaker 2: Explain to us what you do for a living.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Well, I mean, I guess I'm two things.
- 1:47Speaker 4: I'm, the executive director of a few nonprofits. And I
- 1:58Speaker 4: also am a professional runner, but sometimes a professional running
- 2:01Speaker 4: is a little weirder to explain. So, um, but yeah,
- 2:07Speaker 4: you fun. Am I on air right now?
- 2:08Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Oh my God.
- 2:11Speaker 3: That's what we do for a living. Jess, we do
- 2:14Speaker 3: a radio show, which you are, you are intimately familiar with.
- 2:18Speaker 2: I would think.
- 2:20Speaker 5: Oh my gosh.
- 2:21Speaker 1: But yes, I, so I.
- 2:22Speaker 4: Help with both the love up and love putt foundations,
- 2:25Speaker 4: which is the best job ever. We have family fast
- 2:27Speaker 4: coming up. So I get to wear like multiple hats with,
- 2:30Speaker 4: you know, event planning and business development and sponsorship relations and, um,
- 2:37Speaker 4: just the best job ever. And then, yeah, when I'm
- 2:39Speaker 4: not doing that, I'm running in circles all over town professionally.
- 2:44Speaker 3: We have not done yet. And I've pitched this so
- 2:45Speaker 3: many times. Like I think because Jess is a professional
- 2:49Speaker 3: runner and, And she also represents Love Pup. We should
- 2:52Speaker 3: have a race like a schnauzer.
- 2:54Speaker 2: See who wins. She would beat the schnauzer.
- 2:55Speaker 3: She would win. No way could she beat a schnauzer.
- 2:58Speaker 1: So Jess just brought up Love Pup Family Fest. We'll
- 3:00Speaker 1: give the details. Family Fest is November 7th. Vitrucio Farms
- 3:04Speaker 1: in Mesa starts at 4 p.m. A free show with
- 3:07Speaker 1: Gavin DeGraw live in concert. Also, Gino Plager from America's
- 3:11Speaker 1: Got Talent, ASU student magician, is going to be performing.
- 3:14Speaker 1: The Rich Bear Band, the biggest dog rescue adoption event
- 3:16Speaker 1: in the Valley with over 20-plus dog rescues on site.
- 3:19Speaker 1: bring your furry friend, find a new one to take home.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Admission is free with, with a dog donation, with a donation,
- 3:24Speaker 1: like leashes, puppy pads, whatever. So it's a, it's coming
- 3:27Speaker 1: up November 7th.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Thanks, Jess.
- 3:29Speaker 5: Thanks guys.
- 3:30Speaker 4: You know, I was actually live, but one more thing.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Have you already run this morning?
- 3:36Speaker 4: I just got done with 14 miles. So now I'm
- 3:39Speaker 4: responding to some emails. Got to blow up John Jay's
- 3:42Speaker 4: computer here in a minute.
- 3:43Speaker 2: All right, Jess, have a great day. Thanks for jumping
- 3:46Speaker 2: on the air with us.
- 3:47Speaker 5: Bye, you guys.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Speaking of friends. Yeah, I feel like I'm in the
- 3:52Speaker 2: middle of a.
- 3:53Speaker 6: a debate and you guys know me, like when it
- 3:54Speaker 6: comes to arguments, I like to see like devil's advocate.
- 3:56Speaker 6: I like to see both sides of the coin. And
- 3:59Speaker 6: now I'm like literally in the middle. So a couple
- 4:01Speaker 6: of my girlfriends went to dinner. It was like a
- 4:03Speaker 6: $ 65 dinner and they, I wasn't there, but one, one
- 4:07Speaker 6: of them paid for dinner and was told the other friend, Hey,
- 4:10Speaker 6: don't worry about it.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Okay.
- 4:12Speaker 6: So Here's where things get sticky. So the other friend
- 4:16Speaker 6: didn't worry about it. And then the original friend who
- 4:19Speaker 6: paid is now going, how rude. I'm actually really mad
- 4:23Speaker 6: at them for not even offering to pay me back.
- 4:25Speaker 2: It was like at the time, don't worry about it.
- 4:27Speaker 6: I got it, but you should still pay me back.
- 4:30Speaker 7: Well, for me, I'm kind of siding with the other
- 4:33Speaker 7: friend because if you're telling me, like, Kyle, if you
- 4:35Speaker 7: and I went to dinner and you were like, oh,
- 4:37Speaker 7: I got it.
- 4:38Speaker 3: I'd be like, all right, cool. She's got it.
- 4:39Speaker 7: I got it next time. Right.
- 4:41Speaker 3: And then I would leave it at that.
- 4:42Speaker 6: And here's where I can see both sides in it. Like,
- 4:44Speaker 6: I definitely understand that point of view. But then also,
- 4:48Speaker 6: if it were me and you paid for my dinner,
- 4:51Speaker 6: I would feel like, okay, well, then I have to
- 4:52Speaker 6: pay her back in some way. Like, maybe next time
- 4:54Speaker 6: I'll get it or something like that. But apparently that
- 4:57Speaker 6: hasn't happened.
- 4:58Speaker 2: I think for me. What was the exact phrase? She said,
- 5:02Speaker 2: don't worry about it. I got it. Okay. So you say,
- 5:04Speaker 2: don't worry about it. I got it. I think the
- 5:06Speaker 2: person's got it. I'm good. But maybe they need a
- 5:08Speaker 2: little bit. Don't worry. If you expect to get paid back,
- 5:11Speaker 2: don't worry. I got it. Get me later. Something like that.
- 5:15Speaker 2: She needed that.
- 5:15Speaker 3: You get the next one or I'll get the next one.
- 5:18Speaker 3: What about you? So it almost sounds like to me,
- 5:21Speaker 3: if I'm trying to see both sides, the only reason
- 5:24Speaker 3: the other friend would be mad is if maybe there
- 5:26Speaker 3: was some discussion about, The other one asked them to
- 5:29Speaker 3: dinner and maybe they didn't have their money handy. So
- 5:32Speaker 3: it's like, don't worry about it. So that means don't
- 5:34Speaker 3: stress about it, but pay me back when you can,
- 5:37Speaker 3: is what that means. So I would assume there was
- 5:39Speaker 3: a little further conversation.
- 5:40Speaker 2: You don't think we know everything.
- 5:43Speaker 7: Like we're not getting the full story.
- 5:44Speaker 2: I don't think we are. Don't worry about it. They say,
- 5:46Speaker 2: don't worry about it. I think that means don't worry
- 5:48Speaker 2: about it. I asked you out to dinner.
- 5:49Speaker 3: I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I forgot. Like, don't worry about
- 5:52Speaker 3: it kind of means like, don't stress about it. But
- 5:53Speaker 3: if you're going to pay me back, pay me back.
- 5:55Speaker 6: So I feel like advice wise, I have to be like-
- 5:57Speaker 6: You said don't worry about it. If you wanted to
- 5:59Speaker 6: get paid back, you should have said like what you said,
- 6:02Speaker 6: John Jay. Maybe just get me next time or get
- 6:04Speaker 6: me later or whenever you have the cash.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Isn't that kind of the dude rules? Like, I got it.
- 6:09Speaker 3: You can get the next one. Isn't that kind of
- 6:11Speaker 3: like what we do?
- 6:11Speaker 7: I feel like a lot of friends kind of move
- 6:13Speaker 7: and operate like that.
- 6:14Speaker 3: It's easier to put one card. down and then get
- 6:16Speaker 3: your girl later.
- 6:17Speaker 6: The problem is, is this one friend is like, like
- 6:20Speaker 6: she's like a penny pincher.
- 6:22Speaker 2: So it.
- 6:25Speaker 6: Might've been a risk to accept the don't worry about it.
- 6:28Speaker 7: Also, I feel like if you know that about your
- 6:30Speaker 7: friends and you should know your friend's a penny pincher
- 6:32Speaker 7: and you should probably just Venmo her hat anyways.
- 6:34Speaker 3: When you get home.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Like we've got more friends. Let's take one step ahead.
- 6:38Speaker 1: You say don't worry about it. Then you're making the
- 6:42Speaker 1: person worry about it because you're expecting to get paid back.
- 6:44Speaker 3: It's almost like you go, I got it. It's my treat.
- 6:46Speaker 3: And then everything's handled.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Right?
- 6:49Speaker 2: I got you. It's my treat.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Then you don't need to expect to be paid back.
- 6:52Speaker 3: But don't worry about it means like I'm covering for
- 6:54Speaker 3: you because you don't have your cash. Pay me later.
- 6:56Speaker 2: But you're saying to you, you pay them back.
- 7:00Speaker 3: It sounds like that's what she's saying when she's saying,
- 7:02Speaker 3: don't worry about it. That means for right this moment,
- 7:04Speaker 3: but pay me back when you can.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Don't worry about it to me means don't worry about it.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Right for this moment. You're saying, don't worry about it.
- 7:11Speaker 2: I say, Hey, don't worry about it for this moment.
- 7:13Speaker 2: There should have been an asterisk. Otherwise she's a liar.
- 7:16Speaker 2: You are supposed to worry about it. Anyway. Yeah.
- 7:20Speaker 3: I think if you're your friend's snug with a buck,
- 7:22Speaker 3: she's looking to get, get paid back. Yeah.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Remember the other day, speaking of friends, And neighbors, I
- 7:28Speaker 1: was talking about, and we did this all in the air,
- 7:30Speaker 1: the phone number neighbor. Yeah. Right, where you call a
- 7:33Speaker 1: number off of your phone number, and that's your phone
- 7:35Speaker 1: number neighbor. It was really fun, and my wife, she heard,
- 7:39Speaker 1: she listened to the whole thing, and she thought it
- 7:40Speaker 1: was the greatest thing we've ever done.
- 7:42Speaker 6: It was really fun because it was really exciting to see,
- 7:45Speaker 6: were they going to be good neighbors or not?
- 7:46Speaker 2: Amy, you have a number neighbor story?
- 7:50Speaker 5: Hi, yes, I do, from years ago.
- 7:52Speaker 2: What happened?
- 7:54Speaker 5: OK, so I wanted to remember something. So I text
- 7:59Speaker 5: myself so that I would remember to go back to it.
- 8:02Speaker 5: I can't remember exactly what it was, but it it
- 8:05Speaker 5: didn't really make sense because it was just kind of
- 8:07Speaker 5: a quick reminder for me. And I was in the
- 8:09Speaker 5: middle of doing something. And then I got a text back,
- 8:13Speaker 5: which I didn't see right away. And it was like,
- 8:15Speaker 5: who is this? So now maybe it's an hour or
- 8:17Speaker 5: so later, I respond, and I'm like, oh, I'm so sorry.
- 8:20Speaker 5: I was texting myself something to remind myself, and I
- 8:25Speaker 5: must have just pushed one number wrong. And the person
- 8:28Speaker 5: texts back and was like, oh, well, I know you're so-and-so.
- 8:34Speaker 5: Your address is so-and-so, you.
- 8:35Speaker 4: Know, is this.
- 8:37Speaker 5: And then, like, texts one other thing, and I'm like, oh,
- 8:39Speaker 5: my God. And it was right. It was my name.
- 8:41Speaker 5: It was my address. And I was like, oh, my God,
- 8:43Speaker 5: who is this? And he said, I'm a private investigator.
- 8:47Speaker 5: And when you text me and it was kind of weird,
- 8:50Speaker 5: like I'm really funny about, you know, who calls my
- 8:53Speaker 5: phone because of my job. And so I looked you
- 8:55Speaker 5: up and you really need to do better about making
- 8:58Speaker 5: yourself private.
- 8:59Speaker 2: I don't like that.
- 8:59Speaker 3: I don't like that at all. I mean, if that
- 9:02Speaker 3: was a decent person, they would be like, hey, you
- 9:05Speaker 3: missed text. I'm one number off. But explaining all that,
- 9:09Speaker 3: I do not like that at all.
- 9:10Speaker 7: Like, he kind of, like, got you scared for a
- 9:12Speaker 7: little bit.
- 9:12Speaker 3: It was a little threatening. Don't you feel like that's
- 9:14Speaker 3: what it turned out?
- 9:15Speaker 2: Is there more?
- 9:17Speaker 4: No.
- 9:18Speaker 5: So, basically, I was like, oh, my God. So, apparently,
- 9:21Speaker 5: he gets pretty weird about people texting his phone because.
- 9:24Speaker 4: Of his job. So.
- 9:25Speaker 5: When I didn't respond right away, he looked me up.
- 9:30Speaker 5: But I was like, oh my God, what can I do?
- 9:33Speaker 5: And so he did give me tips on, I think
- 9:36Speaker 5: I just had Facebook at the time, but about making
- 9:39Speaker 5: myself private and removing certain things. So I did all
- 9:43Speaker 5: of that so that I wouldn't be so, I don't know,
- 9:46Speaker 5: open online. But after that, he was nice. I did
- 9:50Speaker 5: save his number just in case I needed a private investigator,
- 9:53Speaker 5: which I never did. And then I got a new
- 9:55Speaker 5: phone and I don't know which number neighbor he was.
- 9:58Speaker 5: So I don't know now, but... yeah, he freaked me out.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Do you wish you had his number still? Do you
- 10:04Speaker 2: wish that you could, you just had him on the
- 10:05Speaker 2: back burner? Wow.
- 10:08Speaker 4: Yes.
- 10:08Speaker 5: I had it for years. Just like, I don't know.
- 10:11Speaker 5: He just seems so knowledgeable. So I'm like, maybe I
- 10:13Speaker 5: can just be like, Hey, remember me? I have this question,
- 10:16Speaker 5: but I never ended up meeting him. So I wish
- 10:19Speaker 5: I had it though.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Very cool.
- 10:20Speaker 1: I'm glad you called, Amy. That's a cool number in
- 10:22Speaker 1: every story. Thank you so much. Have a great day.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Thanks for listening.
- 10:25Speaker 5: Thanks for taking my call. Bye, guys.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Bye.
