- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: Join me.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: Dolphins lose 2431 to Cincinnati.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: They fall to Owen 5.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: First, Owen 5 starts since 2019, and Jeff Hathley is not happy.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: No, some of this was expected, like most people were predicting one-four at the very least, so that they couldn't grab one against the Raiders, that's really the difference.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: Other than that, they've actually played well in some of these games, they just have some lingering issues that don't make you too happy about what's happened the first five weeks,
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, I think it's hard to be any more excited than you can be right now for an oil and fighting.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: Like, there's a lot of good on this team going forward, especially considering what they're going to add in the offseason.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: We don't know what the offseason would definitely look like, but we've been saying a couple of stuff on our discord, which by the way, he should join if you didn't hear it at the beginning and at the top of the show.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think the headline numbers are my, like, my means.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: passing offense in defense and rushing offense in defense.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's a complete flip of this way, OK?
- 2:54[SPEAKER_01]: Jet-Fathlete's passing defense is giving up almost 82% completion percentage.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: That's been one of the highest rates since 2010.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_01]: OK?
- 3:02[SPEAKER_01]: Within top three highest completion percentage rate within 2010.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: Miami's offense ranks 31st in passing.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: They're not even the worst.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: They're not even the worst in terms of EPA and success rate.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: They're like 31st.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: Still pretty much towards the bottom of the barrel.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the rushing offense, middle of the pack.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: just not bad considering that the passing offense is not necessarily doing anything in terms of your arts precarious stuff, but they are a top 10 rushing offense in terms of advanced analytics in terms of EPA and success rate as well the Dolphins defense top 5 and run defense in the EPA and success rate.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_01]: So they got the run down for sure which we kind of knew at least on offense on defense.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't really expect
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, in the, in the preseason, we kind of talked about that this team would be pretty good running the football and had a good chance to stop the run, but it's been different things that has done that for them, you know, when we thought they were going to run the ball well, remember we were assuming divine HM was going to be around.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: other Gordon has emerged but when we thought that they were going to stop the run we thought we're going to have the full complement of defensive tackles that can scrap one improve and really hasn't been the case they've just they've actually been pretty good since week one week one was the only time where they had breakdowns on fits
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, since week one, I think they've been pretty damn good on fifths, uh, execution, and like when partner set on on his own Twitter account earlier today, it's easy to see which unit is better coached on this team.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: because the defense I think for the most part even though that they are giving up this huge completion percentage and that is eventually a problem.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: Although half of these defense kind of induces some throws and they're playing really good quarterbacks, they played Mahomes, they played Barrow, okay.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: So they played party.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: They played critical chains.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: Who's actually played pretty good this year.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: The worst quarterback they've played against was Calamary.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_00]: So the play against some really good quarterbacks and in my estimation probably.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I don't know of Joe Burrows and MVP candidate, but at least two MVP candidates in my homes and party, right?
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: So.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to induce throws.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: Those guys are not going to miss.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: Those guys are going to make you pay, you know, if you don't have as much talent as you should have with and those are all of my sort of effects, and those are all better in the quarterbacks.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: They know what to do.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so they have individual pieces that I played well and there's good and bad news on both.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: I talked about this on my Twitter account this week.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: I love how Jason Marshall and Judy Branson playing.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: but there's problems to both.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: Like if you break down Jason Marshall, is he started quality well in a pinch, right?
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: In a pinch, I think he could come in and play two, three games for you.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: I think as of right now, Jason Marshall Jr. is probably high-end depth, which is a good thing to have.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: You didn't know if you were even gonna have that.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: You didn't know if you had an NFL player period.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: Now you know that next year if you replace him and he's second on the debit chart, you're actually in pretty decent shape at the position, right?
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: Jesuit brands is absolutely starter quality.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: The problem with Jesuit brands is he's a free agent at the end of the year.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: You don't know what he's going to command and more importantly, his injury history might just make it to the point where
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: John Erick Sullivan's going to say, you know, to I really want to pay this guy to 12 million dollars a year, 14 million dollars a year.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: You know, maybe maybe on a, on a two year prove it deal, but I don't think so.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: I think due to Brent's at that point of his career, where he's going to shop himself for, for a good dollar amount.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: on a longer term deal with a higher guarantee.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: So good news and bad news on that end.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: The safety's, we still don't know, jury's still out, you know, we kind of like trader, we kind of like taff, but you kind of wanna inject a little bit more talent into that room as well.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, it's unsettled on the passing end, you know.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm pretty sure we're gonna get into the passing offense here.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: But on the defense, like you could see the light at the end of the tunnel, right?
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you don't feel like you're that hopelessly out of it.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: You don't feel like you're that far off on the defensive end.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my, when it comes to the offensive end, in terms of the passing game, there's a mirror.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_01]: absolute, merriot of problems.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_01]: And I posted this up on my Twitter.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: So if you remember the play where Malik Willis was scrambling and tried to find Chris Bellatore's assignment, it absolutely moved shot at the ball.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: There's a couple of factors that led to that play.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: That was a micro column of the issues and the dolphins passing in.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: Okay?
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: And I'll get right into it right now.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: So the first thing is, and I've said it all season long, a pocket awareness by Malik Wolves, okay?
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's not good.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: He's trying to scramble in the pocket as if he's trying to run, but he's not running.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: He should be stepping up until the pocket, he should be shifting left, he should be shifting right, and
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: Don't know if, I mean, I felt like that was an emphasis, but I don't know if it was coach properly my quarterback's coach was found on, or maybe it's just something they didn't think that they needed to emphasize on, but I mean, they said that they emphasized pocket pass.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: Right?
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: He's reverting back to his old days at Liberty and that Tennessee, like his pocket death is at minimum on average, eight to 10 yards, like you think a pocket death would be between five to six yards, you can step up nearby the line and strip it, you move left, you move a little bit, right?
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: but it's like eight to ten yards consistently on some of these play action and some of these dropbacks and look he's holding the ball for a very long time yes but he's scrambling but it's straining Austin Jackson and Patrick Paul.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: If you saw some of the pressure numbers that's coming from
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: Not normal.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: And the reason is because of the pocket death, even Patrick Paul, like 10 yards down the field, you can't hold in sustain your blocks that much.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_01]: Not even Toronto and arms that could do that.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_01]: Not even like great offensive tackles and future Hall of Fame tackles.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: Can even do that, right?
- 10:01[SPEAKER_01]: The second thing is when it comes to the second and long plays and by the way, it might be as in second and long.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_01]: all the time.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: Their first-end offense is a huge, huge problem.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like they rank bottom of the barrel in EP and success rate.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_01]: Like if I take a look at my data metrics just on first down itself in terms of EPA, 100 to a place on first down, less than 30% success rate.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: That's not good.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_01]: You need five yards and you're telling me you're only getting five yards, less than 30% of the time.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: Not good at all, even in the run in the pants.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so that's where we are right there and turn over the passing offense The thing is when Malik is scrambling and he has a lane to run He doesn't I had a league source pretty much tell me that Bobby slow he needs to break out the 2001 2004 Michael Vic play before him Okay, he's not as fast as Michael Vic.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: He's not as fast or has the same amount of legs as Lamar Jackson, but
- 11:01[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe Bobby Sloak should sprinkle in maybe like five or six plays, you know, maybe they could have done something in the off season where they saw those food actions, they have those play action things in there, but
- 11:12[SPEAKER_01]: get design run somehow, get the defense off balance and you saw, towards the second half where Malik was running and the defense had to be in his heels, they're not doing that in the first half again.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_01]: Why not?
- 11:26[SPEAKER_01]: I get that you have your game script but throw them off in the first half.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's something which you should be doing and that's on Bobby Slug.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: As much as it is on Malik, it's also on Bobby Slug as well.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I'm not going to shy away from that.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_01]: Thirdly on that play, just some of the route combinations.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_01]: They're leaning into way too many condensed formations in 21 personnel.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_01]: They need to get 11 men.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_01]: They don't have any good receiving titles.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_01]: They need to go to 11 personnel.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: They need to go to unbalanced three by once.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: You can go to balance two by two, but they're playing inside the hashes a lot, man.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_01]: You have 10 guys inside the hashes.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_01]: There is no outside leverage for you guys.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_01]: Addle, if you had receiving tight ends, that would make sense, but they don't.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: And they're trying to get numbers in the run game, which makes sense.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_01]: You're trying to see the run pass options, but we saw it on the Monday Night Football broadcast, right?
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: We know when
- 12:25[SPEAKER_01]: a team is going to run.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_01]: We know when a team is going to pass.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's all over the team already within five weeks.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_01]: They need unbalanced three by one formations on passing concepts.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: That play was a cover six.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_01]: Ideally up against a cover six like that, you want a flood concept or a seal concept.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes maybe you have a smash.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_01]: And cover six is pretty easy.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_01]: You play two, two, the weekside and you play four to the strong
- 12:55[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Louis had a room will call that play perfectly.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: And somehow Bobby Slough gets a three-man combo post in and it flat, a couple of the check-down players fall.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: But DJ Herman got back up and he was wide open.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_01]: What does Malik Willas do?
- 13:09[SPEAKER_01]: He goes up to the line of scrimmage, goes in balance, throws a moon shot to Chris Bell.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_01]: And meanwhile, Chris Bell is trying to find this ramble drill.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_01]: He hesitates for a second and is not in place.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, Lou, Lou, I'm a rumor was in an inapolis.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I'm so sorry.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: It's not, he got fired from Cincinnati.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's not the way, I'm so sorry.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I'll tell you this.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_00]: I believe that was the play where Chris Bowdoin, right?
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: How old is the defense?
- 13:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'll go for you.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: I'll go for you.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he got in a fear with Chris Bulk got in a fear with and that's the one that he looked at the referee like, you know, when are you going to throw the flag?
- 13:46[SPEAKER_00]: They have depth as far as how they they run their routes at what depth they run their routes.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: There's a reason why it's called offensive coordinator like you're supposed to coordinate most of the offense.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_00]: You're supposed to marry the route combinations with the drop by the quarterback.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_00]: That's off.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_00]: The route depths are off.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_00]: Guys don't know their side adjustments.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_00]: They don't implement scrambled drills all that well.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_00]: The passing offense is essentially a mess.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_00]: And it's almost as if they have in practice.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_00]: And it's understandable in one sense, because they only had 18 practices in training camp.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_00]: and like I said, they're all rookies.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_00]: These are not vets.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_00]: That's why you watch the 49ers this past Sunday, and I don't understand that they're undefeated.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_00]: But the three wide receivers at one point were Mike Evans, Debo Samuel, and Brandon Cook.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_00]: Those guys have collectively like what?
- 14:46[SPEAKER_00]: 50 years experience in the NFL.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_00]: So those guys know where to be.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_00]: Dolphins have a bunch of rookies and you could tell these guys our under practice.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_00]: But that's what I think it's a good thing that they're actually going to practice this week, you know, because they need it.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_01]: The other thing is though, all those barriers and excuses we keep bringing up because they're rookies or they haven't practiced that much.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_01]: That's also on coaching.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_01]: And let me tell you something, those two coaches come up to Louis and Bobby Slily.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_01]: The reasons why
- 15:22[SPEAKER_01]: you explain why they're doing bad is the reason why both of them got fired from their coordinator roles in Houston or Philadelphia.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_01]: We'll talk a little bit more about the coaching staff a little bit more what Jeff halfway said, but first a word from our sponsors.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_01]: Alright.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: We're back.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of narrative talk.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, as we head into the by-week.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_01]: I think the stupidest one, number one, is definitely Malik Will is patting the ball.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, God.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_01]: If you haven't played quarterback, you know, you freakin' pat the ball, even if it's not football hell, literally.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_01]: If you pat the football and throw it, even in college it's done and it felt it's done as well.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: Jeff Halfley was asked about
- 16:09[SPEAKER_01]: Starting Kyle McCord against the jets.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know who asked that question.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_01]: Pretty ballsy question to ask you Jeff Haffley.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_01]: And I know a lot of dolphins for like, okay, let's see what Kyle McCord has.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I want to see what Kyle McCord has, as well, Malik Willis is the quarterback, right?
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: Malik needs to be better, definitely.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_01]: And then he goes, that's not the headline.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_01]: Headline is, we all need to be better.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: All equal order and I guess needs to be better.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_01]: Michael Taffy needs to be better.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_01]: Chris Johnson showed her needs to be better.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: Kenneth Grant definitely needs to be better.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_01]: The offensive line in a way, I don't know if they need to be better.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_01]: I think they just need to be consistent.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_00]: Well, there's one guy in particular in the offensive line that, man, if you isolate him for real.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's in pressure percentage.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_01]: His pressure percentage is...
- 17:07[SPEAKER_00]: He's either injured or done or both.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_00]: Because...
- 17:13[SPEAKER_00]: Austin Jackson is a liability as at this point and I think you're sneakily just waiting for the deadline and just trying to get anything you can for him because he just has that look of a guy who's absolutely done and like where can he play?
- 17:29[SPEAKER_00]: He can only play with with a quarterback like Tua that's gonna aid him or an offense that's gonna be heavy, heavy, heavy run action.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_00]: The teams that that are heavy
- 17:41[SPEAKER_00]: They have right tackles.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's the 49ers.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's the Rams.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_00]: The bills are kind of heavy run action.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: Look, Texan.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe that would be too.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, maybe the bills, because the bills just took a bad injury to Spencer Brown.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's Spencer Brown is up for the season.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe we get lucky.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Brendan being, you know, is not the sharpest tool in the shed.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_00]: So who knows, maybe the bills will give us a pick for Frost and Jackson.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_00]: That'd be a great idea.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: They've even like a fifth or six-room pick for Austin.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_01]: I take it.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_01]: His contract is not even that bad to be on this.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_00]: No, we already paid him on the money.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, the money's off the table already with Austin Jackson.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_00]: So this is not a money thing either.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, he's been absolutely awful.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_00]: Look, guy that actually came in, it's odd that you watch a game when you see Jared Kingston.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of people didn't know who the hell Jared Kingston was.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_00]: I just knew he was on the roster.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_00]: okay because they picked them up recently he played better than Austin Jackson in that game against the pickle that that's a shame i think it also speaks volumes that DJ Campbell is not ready either
- 18:48[SPEAKER_00]: no.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's obvious that they trust a gyric King's thing because he's much more versatile.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he's played several positions before DJ Campbell.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_00]: They kind of only really like him on one side as a guard, not as a tackle.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_00]: So when it's an active game day roster, that's what they're going to do.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, you know.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: And look, it's players
- 19:14[SPEAKER_01]: in coaching, right?
- 19:15[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about the passing off.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's already with Bobby Slovakian committee.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: Then we got to talk about the execution side.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_01]: Three sacs up against the Cincinnati Bainlow's on second down, mainly from the right side.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_01]: Join us via Nile, leaving with the left ankle injury.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: There's no time table for that.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_01]: Just yet, then fumbling the ball, Malik Willis on that is just inexcusable, right?
- 19:37[SPEAKER_01]: Red zone issues.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my goodness.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_01]: Red zone issues.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I can't wait to just call the simple mesh concepts in the red zone right simple mesh concepts a little bit of sales if you try to go deep a little bit of flood.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_01]: I mean whatever happened to our peel action why the hell are we not seeing right like where is that passing orders and then on the defensive side right.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know who told Jeff Hathley this if they're listening to the podcast or something like that, but we won.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_01]: We've really hammered home the idea of color six right.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_01]: The dolphins are running cover six at almost 22% of a clip this season, which is the third highs in the end of all.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, cover six is a tool used a lot by Vic Fangio.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_01]: We saw it a lot in Miami in 2023.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: Now with cover six, right, Miami on defense, if we take a look at it, you know, through all weeks, the last five weeks, cover six on all downs, 50% success, right, which is
- 20:42[SPEAKER_01]: the least amount of success rate they give in up to offenses, right?
- 20:46[SPEAKER_01]: They're giving up 8.8 yards per passing play and giving up 266 yards.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_01]: But that's because they've done it 30 times.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you take a look at color four, right?
- 20:58[SPEAKER_01]: They're giving up a much positive EMP on that, 0.36 compared to color six, which is 0.11, which is also the best EMP they have on color six.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_01]: I think they have just accepted, you know, the little dive by paper cuts rather than the big explosive place.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, if you took away that Jamar Chase 40 yard catch, you're looking at T Higgins and Jamar Chase having 66 yards.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_00]: not even that because they ended up ended up on eight for 14 targets for 99 yards so you take away the 45 yard completion they would have had they would have finished with 54 yards get off it and we know the dolphins linebackers are not the silly
- 21:41[SPEAKER_01]: the best cover guys.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_01]: We saw Jacob Rodriguez get targeted on two touchdowns as well.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_01]: That's where a lot of the talent with the safeties will help as well.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_01]: If they do want to play more single show, which I don't think they need to.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_01]: They either need one more additional coverage linebacker, or guys like Traymore and Kylu is who should be coming back from injury either this week or potentially after the bioregamer for the bioregamer, which will significantly improve the defense especially in coverage.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I completely agree like they're undermaned like it's obvious that they're undermaned But again, you could tell which unit is actually pretty damn well coached and I haven't think that this this this defensive unit is getting looking better and better by the week Only the radar game and I understand that they got smoked against the giant I mean that against the the 49ers Go watch that game again
- 22:42[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, they were in place, they were just, they were just beat by the play call.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, Shanahan was really in his bag and that's a really good team that the 49ers have.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, the Raiders is really the only game where they made, they made coverage mistakes.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_00]: Other than that, they actually, you know, they're, they're on their, they're piecing cues.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_00]: I think that they've actually been pretty good this year.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_00]: Now that they've been good, you know, overall as their performance, but as far as not blowing assignments,
- 23:11[SPEAKER_00]: you could tell that they're well-coached on the defensive side of the ball.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_00]: Offense again, it's just a completely different story.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, now right now the dolphins have a top five pick in the 2027 and a full draft, okay?
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: And when we talk about the schedule, they got the jets, patriots, the lions, in Indianapolis, in Buffalo,
- 23:36[SPEAKER_01]: Jets at home on the 29th.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_01]: Then the possible tank ball up against the Los Angeles Chargers, which could be the Jeremiah Smith game between the two teams, right?
- 23:47[SPEAKER_01]: The Jets hold three first run picks in 2027.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: So, I mean, the game after the buy also holds draft or implications, right?
- 24:02[SPEAKER_01]: the cult's pick and someone else's pick as well, which I'm forgetting.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_00]: Eagles, I believe.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: Eagles.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we don't really play the Eagles.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care boys.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_00]: They got the Cowboys, they got their own.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the Cowboys.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_01]: Well, they don't play the Cowboys this season, but if they lose to the Jets twice, and they lose to Indianapolis,
- 24:22[SPEAKER_01]: that puts the jets a little bit back in the draft order and Miami ahead and it gives the implication of the jets where if they really really like a guy, maybe they got a give up one of their first wrong picks together.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the jets, if that win that they got against the Browns, remember, that's also a head to head win against a team that could be up there.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_00]: That win against the Browns was pretty bad.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_00]: If you're a jet fan and you're thinking about, you know, the tankathon.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_00]: That was a pretty bad one because I think that one puts you out of the Jeremiah Smith race.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_00]: And if you want to quarterback, you are looking to package at least two of those first rompicks to move up.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_00]: Plus probably another first rompick down the line.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_00]: So if you're Miami and you end up in the top two,
- 25:18[SPEAKER_00]: you kind of want one of these quarterbacks to emerge if you don't really want them want them yourself, right?
- 25:24[SPEAKER_01]: When you view it like that, right?
- 25:26[SPEAKER_01]: Neither of our expanding or daunting or have, you know,
- 25:32[SPEAKER_01]: put themselves out as a quote on quote, really, really good prospect.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_01]: And we don't even know if Manning will declare, right?
- 25:40[SPEAKER_01]: We don't know if Drew Mestmater will declare.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_01]: We know Trinidad Chamblus is available.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: And then Austin Simmons, we don't know if he'll declare as well.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, La Nore sellers play like a top five quarterback paper, that was one game out of the season.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_01]: We don't even know what he looks like, right?
- 25:57[SPEAKER_01]: So it's like,
- 25:59[SPEAKER_01]: Jeremiah Smith, or Leonard Moore, or Colin Simmons, which we've already covered in our who-sams hot shop, right?
- 26:08[SPEAKER_00]: We talked about what doesn't store, that could be the other story.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know about his background, that's a little bit murky.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if it depends, because if it's a top five talent and then, you know, I don't think they want problems in the locker.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_01]: as it right now.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_01]: But that's a discussion for the draft room.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: We don't even know what they're having right now.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_01]: We know that they've got holes at safety outside corner edge offensive line.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_01]: But we talked about maybe adding an additional receiver that can work within the system.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_01]: Or a coverage hybrid linebacker.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_01]: The first guy I got on my list is
- 26:47[SPEAKER_01]: do Alexander out of wool mist, right?
- 26:50[SPEAKER_01]: UCM has jail in water.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_01]: I see him as a jail in water, James and William.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_01]: William's type of hydrant, okay?
- 26:58[SPEAKER_01]: He's got six foot, 180, 32 catches, 503 yards, five touchdowns, went five from 159 and two touchdowns against Louisville.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_01]: Against LSU, seven catches, 60 yards of touchdown,
- 27:17[SPEAKER_00]: Last year if we care if we care if we care about how players have played this year I remember in the preseason it was almost consensus that came Coleman was why receiver 2 That has changed that has changed as every week goes by that has changed even more I'm beginning to look at do-seller Xander as why receiver 2 and you know
- 27:43[SPEAKER_00]: Now, what I'll take them high, probably not, because we have a lot of fish to fry on this tank, you know?
- 27:50[SPEAKER_00]: So, if I'm left, like, if they put together some winds, and I think that they will, okay?
- 27:55[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're gonna put together, they're gonna surprise somebody, okay?
- 27:59[SPEAKER_00]: Somewhere.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_00]: And they're gonna put together a couple of winds that's probably gonna get them out out of the top two, which is where you can safely be to get Jeremiah Smith.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's not going to be an enticing pick in this draft considering that somebody's going to give you more draft ammo for 2028 including more draft ammo in 2027.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_00]: So you're going to get somebody's first somebody's second and a first maybe the following year for your top five pick if you're not convinced that you know because like when I never like I never like with a high pick I don't like taking the second
- 28:43[SPEAKER_00]: in any draft that I don't especially the contract you got to give them right yeah I don't want to take the second best edge I don't want to take that's why receiver the second best quarterback none of that maybe the second best quarterback that's part of the only position that will do it second best tackle I don't want to do it
- 29:00[SPEAKER_00]: either.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, that's going to be interesting.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be interesting going for it.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, two salad centers is a great shout that's as of right now.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_00]: And we're only at midseason as of right now.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_00]: He's why we're silver to in my estimation.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_01]: The other thing I'm going to talk about a hybrid linebacker.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_01]: Chris Cole out of Georgia and he talked about it.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_01]: If the dolphins have one of the top five picks and they're out of Jeremiah, you know, Smith sweepstakes, they can trade back and get a leak first and pick up this guy, right?
- 29:31[SPEAKER_01]: Five star recruit from Virginia, Kirby Smart says that, you know, there's not a player of higher character on our team than him.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_01]: He had what two formal recoveries up against Georgia and his coverage skills is the headliner.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_01]: Six, three, 235 pounds, 21 pressures in 14 games in 2025, by the way, what was it?
- 29:56[SPEAKER_01]: He can match up in man and zone, runs with tight ends, which has always been a crunch for the dolphins, right?
- 30:03[SPEAKER_01]: Can run with the running backs, and he has the range to reach the side, I mean, you get a lineback to core of Jordan Brooks and Jacob Rodriguez.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_01]: Traymore, maybe, and Chris Cool.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_01]: Holy shit, Jeff Hath is going to be in freaking love, right?
- 30:20[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, and that came against, against Killing Russell, like there weren't many opportunities where Killing Russell escaped to his side.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_00]: If he was escaping, he was escaping away from Chris Cool.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_00]: And Chris Cool is actually chasing a lot of those plays from from the weekside.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 30:39[SPEAKER_00]: I like them a lot and I thought he played a spectacular game against Alabama and that was a really good test and like that game alone is going to be one where you're going to have to watch.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_00]: because a lot of prospects showed up and showed out in that game.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I feel like if they do take him, if they do get, you know, another pick in the first round, they trade back.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's more so of a luxury pick, but that's sort of solidifies your defense a little bit more.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_01]: Man, like that's what Jeff Haffley wants in his defense.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_00]: He likes 4-3-3-4 being multiple.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_00]: He can rush the passer.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_01]: He can cover, like put him alongside Brooks,
- 31:20[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you can move up a Jordan Brooks too.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it works, it works a time.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_01]: All right, stick with us here on Scouting the Finns part of the Threat Mercary podcast feed, all support of the Five Ruz and Sports Network.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_01]: Dolphins are on a buy and stick with us here as always.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_01]: Fins up.
