- 7:13Speaker 1: soccer schedule. But been over to Kurt Healy's a couple
- 7:20Speaker 1: of times. Barry Chiroperactic done something to the back. I
- 7:24Speaker 1: don't know, should I have been on my dirt bike
- 7:28Speaker 1: last night? Did that help? Also, speaking of Washington County
- 7:36Speaker 1: Mental Health, the next Child, Youth and Family Steering Committee
- 7:40Speaker 1: Family Gathering is happening this coming Thursday at the well

- 7:58Speaker 1: on the one coming up on tomorrow. It is IEP
- 8:02Speaker 1: and five oh four basics. How to get started learning
- 8:06Speaker 1: the language, how to navigate this stuff, how to give
- 8:09Speaker 1: support to your child or your student, and share information
- 8:13Speaker 1: with others. It is free, it is so important. Dinner
- 8:16Speaker 1: is provided again. Five o'clock is when it starts right
- 8:21Speaker 1: at the Whale Space Building in Barry. I love leading
- 8:25Speaker 1: off with the good things going on in our community.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I just do it. We've got some packed stuff going
- 8:32Speaker 1: on in October. Fridays in October are going to be
- 8:35Speaker 1: real busy. We want to give you a heads up
- 8:36Speaker 1: right now on that it's going to be slammed Saturdays too.
- 8:41Speaker 1: We got the Vermont Granite Museum Granite Festival coming up
- 8:44Speaker 1: on the twentieth that's this Saturday. Yeah, the calendar's just jammed.
- 8:56Speaker 1: The Veterans Place ride next weekend at the Masonic Lodge
- 9:02Speaker 1: in Williamstown. There's just so much going on, so much happening.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Don't forget this coming Sunday. Top Soccer Capital Region opportunity
- 9:13Speaker 1: for folks with diverse abilities to play soccer. They do
- 9:16Speaker 1: it every Sunday in September. Burytown, Reckfield's Facebook Top Soccer
- 9:22Speaker 1: Capital Region, Vermont, part of the What's the National Program?
- 9:28Speaker 1: Part of the US Youth's Soccer Outreach program for soccer.
- 9:36Speaker 1: And it's just wonderful how many Sundays aren't there in
- 9:40Speaker 1: September four, So try not to pass this up. Wow,
- 9:46Speaker 1: do we have a lot to talk about this morning,
- 9:52Speaker 1: last night, yesterday, late afternoon, after Lily's soccer game, as
- 10:00Speaker 1: I just said, swung a leg onto my dirt bike
- 10:08Speaker 1: and asked Lily if she wanted to join me, and
- 10:13Speaker 1: we did. And as I just said, a little while ago,
- 10:19Speaker 1: I've been to the chiropractice to Kurt Healey several times
- 10:25Speaker 1: over the last week and a half or so because
- 10:31Speaker 1: of a bad back. Something done, I've done something, something slipped,
- 10:37Speaker 1: I don't know what, but make a little bit of
- 10:42Speaker 1: progress and then it's it's been kind of one step forward,
- 10:48Speaker 1: two steps back. But I got on my dirt bike
- 10:56Speaker 1: with Lily and we we had a fantastic time and
- 11:02Speaker 1: we rode until it was dark. And although my back
- 11:11Speaker 1: was communicating with me during this going over all of
- 11:19Speaker 1: the bumps, I was reminded that what I was doing
- 11:29Speaker 1: was something for myself, something for Lily, and that I
- 11:36Speaker 1: needed this time to just be present in a moment
- 11:44Speaker 1: away from TV, away from my phone, away from social media,
- 11:50Speaker 1: and to just live that moment on that dirt bike
- 11:54Speaker 1: with my daughter last night, despite my back, and just
- 12:02Speaker 1: get dirty, have some fun. And it's so important to
- 12:06Speaker 1: do that. On the line with me this morning is
- 12:10Speaker 1: doctor Matt Chalmers. This gentleman really gets it. A healthy
- 12:20Speaker 1: living expert who focuses on the mind, the body, and
- 12:26Speaker 1: the spirit to all work together to heal ourselves. Good morning, sir,
- 12:33Speaker 1: it is such a pleasure to have you with me.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Good morning, good to be here.
- 12:37Speaker 1: You are the author of a book titled Pillars of Wellness.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Achieve and uphold holistic health, vitality and lunchevity. Grab it
- 12:46Speaker 1: where you get your books or your audio books. Hop
- 12:48Speaker 1: on Pillars of Wellness dot com. The website is right
- 12:53Speaker 1: there on the monitor in front of us this morning.
- 12:55Speaker 1: I want to I want to drop a blanket statement.
- 12:58Speaker 1: It seems the average America is more consumed now than
- 13:02Speaker 1: ever before in the see called social media. What do
- 13:10Speaker 1: you think about that?
- 13:13Speaker 2: It has its good sides and bad sides.
- 13:15Speaker 3: The one of the things I think that we all
- 13:16Speaker 3: need to recognize about social media, especially the way the
- 13:20Speaker 3: algorithm works, is that the things that you look at you.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Get more of.
- 13:25Speaker 3: And so what that does is it creates an echo chamber.
- 13:28Speaker 3: And what ends up happening is that so if we
- 13:31Speaker 3: all started in the middle, and then the people who
- 13:33Speaker 3: were pro Trumps spent more time with the pro Trump
- 13:37Speaker 3: stuff and the anti Democrat stuff stuff up, the feed
- 13:42Speaker 3: sends you more of that. And so what ends up
- 13:44Speaker 3: happening is you start thinking that everyone agrees with you
- 13:48Speaker 3: because you see, you know, posts of a post, a
- 13:51Speaker 3: post from different people all agreeing with the same side.
- 13:54Speaker 3: The problem we're running into at this is that this
- 13:56Speaker 3: creates extreme tribalism. And it also, as we've been pointing out,
- 14:01Speaker 3: once you've been telling people a narrative that a group
- 14:04Speaker 3: is like Hitler or like Nazis, and they're horrible and terrible.
- 14:07Speaker 3: They're altering democracy, and they're an existential threat.
- 14:11Speaker 2: If you start.
- 14:12Speaker 3: Seeing nothing but that in your feed, it creates, you know,
- 14:16Speaker 3: it reinstills that idea, and so we need to be
- 14:18Speaker 3: very careful of the things we're allowing ourselves to see
- 14:21Speaker 3: repeatedly on a daily basis.
- 14:23Speaker 1: I mean everywhere right now. And you know this. If
- 14:27Speaker 1: you're listening this morning and you have a phone, all
- 14:31Speaker 1: you have to do is turn it on and there
- 14:35Speaker 1: is something about Charlie Kirk on it. It's literally saturated.
- 14:47Speaker 1: It's everywhere.
- 14:50Speaker 3: And I think that's a fantastic thing, you know, because
- 14:53Speaker 3: that is one of the things that you know, they
- 14:55Speaker 3: talked about how Charler Kirk had one point four million
- 14:58Speaker 3: followers the day of his murder and he now has
- 15:01Speaker 3: ten million. And so the great thing about this is
- 15:04Speaker 3: that we're, you know, you're getting exposed to different ideas.
- 15:07Speaker 3: And I think one of the great things about this
- 15:09Speaker 3: kind of breaks that mold. And the reason I talk
- 15:11Speaker 3: about that is because a lot of people started seeing
- 15:14Speaker 3: these things and they thought, oh.
- 15:15Speaker 2: My gosh, what a horrible, terrible person. I'm going to
- 15:17Speaker 2: go listen to what he said.
- 15:19Speaker 3: So I can say I've had things about him and
- 15:20Speaker 3: they started watching his stuff and I'm like, he's not
- 15:22Speaker 3: a bad guy, Like this is not what they were
- 15:25Speaker 3: told at all. Yeah, And I think that that is
- 15:27Speaker 3: starting to help people kind of wake up to the
- 15:28Speaker 3: idea that maybe what we're all being told on both
- 15:32Speaker 3: sides might not be one hundred percent accurate and we
- 15:35Speaker 3: should do a little bit more investigating ourselves.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Aha, that' shit right there, instead of the having the
- 15:40Speaker 1: stamp of an R or a D on your forehead, correct,
- 15:49Speaker 1: you know. I have, First of all, I again, I
- 15:52Speaker 1: appreciate your time so much this morning hopping on with us.
- 15:55Speaker 1: I have a friend, a good friend, who has a
- 16:00Speaker 1: cell phone that is only used for calls. He does
- 16:08Speaker 1: some texting on it, but very rarely, and it's usually
- 16:15Speaker 1: only to his wife about you know, soccer, pick up,
- 16:20Speaker 1: drop off whatever, pick up a gallon of milk on
- 16:23Speaker 1: the way home. But that's about the extent of it.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Other than that, he uses his phone mostly for just
- 16:32Speaker 1: making phone calls. And even then he's just not on
- 16:37Speaker 1: the phone a lot. When I'm with him, When I
- 16:42Speaker 1: say to him, oh my god, did you hear about
- 16:44Speaker 1: this year? About that? What's going on on it, what's
- 16:47Speaker 1: happening with Romania and Russia, and look at this, and
- 16:51Speaker 1: he's disconnected admittedly and wants to be. He's happy that way.
- 17:00Speaker 1: There's something to be said about that. There's there's pros
- 17:03Speaker 1: and cons to that. I'm guessing, what say you about
- 17:06Speaker 1: my friend?
- 17:08Speaker 3: So there's a giant amount like when we work with
- 17:11Speaker 3: stress and we work with you know, the things they're
- 17:14Speaker 3: pressing on us. There's a lot of things that you
- 17:17Speaker 3: and everybody's heard this, like you can't alter it, let
- 17:20Speaker 3: it go.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Well, if you're not gonna be able to help the
- 17:24Speaker 2: the issues.
- 17:24Speaker 3: That are going on in Russia or in Ukraine or whatever,
- 17:27Speaker 3: it is a very significant idea of we don't need
- 17:31Speaker 3: to know about those things because if I can't help
- 17:34Speaker 3: in a positive manner, and all it's going to do
- 17:36Speaker 3: is add negativity into my life, that is then going
- 17:38Speaker 3: to program me into a more negative function. I would
- 17:41Speaker 3: prefer not to have that influence over my life. And
- 17:45Speaker 3: I think that there's a lot to that, and I think,
- 17:47Speaker 3: like you said, he's much happier than a lot of
- 17:50Speaker 3: the people who know what's going on in Russia or
- 17:52Speaker 3: know what's going on in the Sudan or whatever. So
- 17:55Speaker 3: there is a lot too that the idea of let
- 17:58Speaker 3: me fix the things I can fix and the things
- 18:00Speaker 3: I can't fix, let me not worry about.
- 18:03Speaker 1: And that many of us, and I think you would
- 18:08Speaker 1: maybe agree with me, maybe maybe most of us are
- 18:11Speaker 1: not able to do that in a real way, say, look,
- 18:18Speaker 1: I can't fix it. There's nothing I'm going to be
- 18:20Speaker 1: able to do about it, So I got to let
- 18:22Speaker 1: it go. A lot of us carry, even subconsciously, the
- 18:27Speaker 1: weight of what's going on in the world that we
- 18:31Speaker 1: don't have any control over. It gets under our skin
- 18:37Speaker 1: and it sticks to our bones. I mean it. Our
- 18:43Speaker 1: phones in social media have and I also know someone
- 18:49Speaker 1: as I know we all do, where our phones have
- 18:53Speaker 1: become more than a habit. Frankly, we're addicted to them.
- 18:59Speaker 1: And I know people as I know I'm sure you do,
- 19:03Speaker 1: who just can't stop scrolling, no matter where they are,
- 19:07Speaker 1: what they're doing, who they're with, how late at night
- 19:10Speaker 1: it is, whether they're out on a date with their
- 19:12Speaker 1: husband or wife, whether they're at a restaurant, whether they're
- 19:16Speaker 1: at church, it doesn't matter. We can barely shut it off,
- 19:20Speaker 1: to close our eyes and go to sleep. At night.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Sometimes there's a lot of research into the neurology of
- 19:29Speaker 3: the light that hits your eyes and the dope mean
- 19:31Speaker 3: hit that we're getting. And so the explanation or the
- 19:35Speaker 3: description of being addicted to the phone because of the
- 19:38Speaker 3: dope mein hit is a fairly albeit maybe loose, a
- 19:42Speaker 3: fairly accurate description of what's going on. The other problem
- 19:46Speaker 3: that we get into is it's hyper emotional. And so
- 19:49Speaker 3: when you see these massive emotional hit after emotional hit,
- 19:53Speaker 3: it takes it spools the brain up on them. Now,
- 19:56Speaker 3: the other thing that it will do is and this
- 19:59Speaker 3: is one of the problems, is if you see nothing
- 20:01Speaker 3: but negativity in the world and no one's being able
- 20:04Speaker 3: to fix it, what it oftentimes does is it numbs
- 20:07Speaker 3: you to that, and so you do not make the
- 20:10Speaker 3: effort that is needed in your local community, in your family,
- 20:13Speaker 3: or your household to change the things that are there.
- 20:16Speaker 3: So if we focus more again, if we turn off
- 20:19Speaker 3: the outside world and we focus more on what is
- 20:21Speaker 3: right in front of us, I think that we would
- 20:23Speaker 3: start to see a significant change in our community and
- 20:26Speaker 3: then in and around us. And so that's the other
- 20:28Speaker 3: issue that we need to kind of focus in on.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Yeah, we've become desensitized to some of us and you know,
- 20:37Speaker 1: often what we see on our phones before our eyes
- 20:43Speaker 1: closed at night is something that is either bad news
- 20:47Speaker 1: or not great news. I mean, it wouldn't it be
- 20:54Speaker 1: wonderful if our phones if we got into the self
- 21:01Speaker 1: discipline of shutting our phones off and disconnecting from everything,
- 21:05Speaker 1: maybe even TV for at least an hour before we
- 21:09Speaker 1: go to bed, just to be quiet, just to reflect
- 21:13Speaker 1: and find something positive, to think about, something maybe that
- 21:19Speaker 1: was good during the day, and wrap our minds around
- 21:23Speaker 1: that and carry that with us to the moment that
- 21:27Speaker 1: we hit the pillow.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Well, So taking phones and taking artificial light away from
- 21:34Speaker 3: your eyes is a very very very common part of sleep,
- 21:38Speaker 3: etiquate and sleep, you know, rehabilitation. So when I work
- 21:41Speaker 3: with people who are having trouble sleeping, this is one
- 21:43Speaker 3: of the things that we do. And we're like, no
- 21:45Speaker 3: electronics because of the light frequencies.
- 21:46Speaker 2: To activate your brain and still you up.
- 21:48Speaker 3: But the other thing that we will do is we
- 21:50Speaker 3: start working on things like gratitudes.
- 21:52Speaker 2: This is one of the many things we do.
- 21:54Speaker 3: Exactly what you're saying is before you know, as soon
- 21:56Speaker 3: as you wake up and before you go to bed,
- 21:58Speaker 3: you focus on things truly grateful for. And if you
- 22:02Speaker 3: start focusing on the things you're truly grateful for, what
- 22:04Speaker 3: ends up happening is you start seeing them in more places.
- 22:07Speaker 3: And so what ends up happening not only your dreams,
- 22:09Speaker 3: you start recognizing the things that make you happy during
- 22:12Speaker 3: the day. And so we can make substantial changes to
- 22:16Speaker 3: health by allowing ourselves to sleep better, by taking the
- 22:20Speaker 3: light pollution away from us from our eyes. And if
- 22:22Speaker 3: we start working on our psychology and our spirituality of
- 22:25Speaker 3: what good things.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Happen to me today, what do I need to be
- 22:29Speaker 2: happy about?
- 22:30Speaker 3: Find the things to be happy about, we can radically
- 22:33Speaker 3: change our lives, both health and both physical and spiritual
- 22:36Speaker 3: psychological health. So what you're promoting is one hundred percent
- 22:39Speaker 3: something that we do, and I highly recommend everyone starting corporating.
- 22:44Speaker 1: I wish more doctors were thinking this way, that there
- 22:50Speaker 1: are some real things that we can do as physicians
- 22:54Speaker 1: to repair the damage. We're programming our minds with new
- 22:59Speaker 1: algorithms you as you stated, we're even altering our belief systems.
- 23:04Speaker 1: We're allowing you to affect our moods, which therefore create
- 23:09Speaker 1: new personalities and opinions that we didn't even know that
- 23:12Speaker 1: we had, let alone behaviors. This is really something that
- 23:17Speaker 1: you know, and with a ten year old daughter who
- 23:21Speaker 1: loves her tablet, I've got to remind myself that I
- 23:29Speaker 1: want to make sure that she is not tethered to
- 23:32Speaker 1: a device, that it is not literally in her hands
- 23:37Speaker 1: every minute of the day that she's not at school.
- 23:40Speaker 1: I mean, most of us are are swimming in this sea,
- 23:44Speaker 1: and more and more of us it seem like we're
- 23:46Speaker 1: drowning in.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Well, that's kind of one.
- 23:50Speaker 3: Of the things I was trying to tell people is,
- 23:51Speaker 3: you know, if you look at the way we do
- 23:54Speaker 3: what we do in this country, we call it healthcare.
- 23:57Speaker 2: I disagree. I think that if you're looking for someone
- 23:59Speaker 2: to help.
- 23:59Speaker 3: With healthcare a health care provider, that provider is going
- 24:02Speaker 3: to help improve your health. So we're looking at sleep,
- 24:05Speaker 3: We're looking at hormones, we're looking at diet, nutrition, supplementation,
- 24:08Speaker 3: we're looking at the psychological function of how everything goes.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Those things are so.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Hypercritical to the way we were designed to function that
- 24:17Speaker 3: when we stray away from them, we have problems. And
- 24:20Speaker 3: a lot of our psychological function is metabolic and we've
- 24:23Speaker 3: all seen it, because you've ever seen someone who's been
- 24:25Speaker 3: angry where they didn't eat, so their metabolic needs were
- 24:28Speaker 3: not met, their psychological emotional needs collapse into basically depression.
- 24:33Speaker 3: They're angry, they're grumpy, they're sad, they don't want to
- 24:35Speaker 3: do things, and they disconnect. You feed that person, all
- 24:38Speaker 3: those things get fixed. So we need to start recognizing
- 24:42Speaker 3: that the foods and the drugs we're putting in our
- 24:43Speaker 3: bodies have a significant effect on the way we feel
- 24:46Speaker 3: and act.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Wow, that is so true. Is so true? And you
- 24:52Speaker 1: have a you have a great book and we're going
- 24:57Speaker 1: to talk about that in a second here, but you
- 24:58Speaker 1: have you also have a face book group where you're
- 25:01Speaker 1: promoting I think pretty much exactly what you just said.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I do.
- 25:07Speaker 3: I do like a ten or fifteen minute podcast every morning,
- 25:09Speaker 3: just trying to get the information out. We have been
- 25:12Speaker 3: lied to for so long about the body in an
- 25:16Speaker 3: effort to then capitalize on that and make money off
- 25:19Speaker 3: of people's sickness and illness. That I was just like,
- 25:22Speaker 3: how do I get how do I help people the most?
- 25:24Speaker 3: And it's like, if I can just tell you how
- 25:26Speaker 3: the body actually works, maybe you guys could come out
- 25:28Speaker 3: and figure out how to fix yourselves or get the
- 25:31Speaker 3: information to kind of push back against what's going on now.
- 25:34Speaker 3: So that's kind of the best way that I've found
- 25:37Speaker 3: to help everybody. Just give the information.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Yeah, boy, I mean, this is a lot to unpack,
- 25:45Speaker 1: but I know it is. It's just a segment of
- 25:51Speaker 1: the full holistic mindset that you have for wellness as
- 25:57Speaker 1: a giant umbrella. But you know, you can eat well,
- 26:01Speaker 1: you can drink the right amount of water, but just
- 26:07Speaker 1: be super conscious of how much time you spending connected
- 26:13Speaker 1: to the world digitally set some boundaries it is, so
- 26:19Speaker 1: you know, I mean everything in moderation, we all say,
- 26:24Speaker 1: but it can be so difficult to look away from
- 26:29Speaker 1: what we're seeing. The other point that I wanted to
- 26:32Speaker 1: make this morning is that you know, more often than not,
- 26:40Speaker 1: we should we should really put this out there, that
- 26:44Speaker 1: social media can provide something that's really good for our
- 26:49Speaker 1: mental state. It connects us with others, especially if we
- 26:53Speaker 1: if we live alone or a little bit isolated, or
- 26:56Speaker 1: if we have family and friends who are far away.
- 27:01Speaker 1: But it can also give us a sense of belonging
- 27:05Speaker 1: in our community or in a group with people with
- 27:10Speaker 1: common interests, and it can also just make us laugh.
- 27:15Speaker 1: My wife every night needs that time to sit on
- 27:21Speaker 1: the couch and just have a little bit of mindless scrolling,
- 27:29Speaker 1: and she'll find some funny reels and funny memes that
- 27:34Speaker 1: she loves to share with me. And some of some
- 27:41Speaker 1: of the times that she has laughed have been really intense.
- 27:47Speaker 1: I mean, she has really found some great enjoyment and
- 27:52Speaker 1: laughter from things that you're just maybe not necessarily going
- 27:57Speaker 1: to find on TV. But knowing what time it is,
- 28:03Speaker 1: maybe it's time for dinner, maybe it's time that we
- 28:06Speaker 1: need to go for a walk, Maybe it's time that
- 28:08Speaker 1: we need to start unplugging and decompressing and getting ready
- 28:11Speaker 1: for bed. Being aware of that, I mean, we could
- 28:15Speaker 1: all sit there and eat a whole gallon of ice
- 28:19Speaker 1: cream if it's still in front of us, but know
- 28:21Speaker 1: one when to put the lid on and put it away.
- 28:23Speaker 1: That can be difficult, That can be challenging for many
- 28:26Speaker 1: of us.
- 28:30Speaker 3: It is, and so setting boundaries is a great thing
- 28:33Speaker 3: to sit down and kind of decide on hire to
- 28:35Speaker 3: do it. The other thing that we all need to recognize,
- 28:37Speaker 3: and this is very difficult for people who haven't gone
- 28:41Speaker 3: through this properly, but we are all programmed. We run programs,
- 28:47Speaker 3: and so we get programming from our environment. And so
- 28:51Speaker 3: if we're not very cautious with what we watch and
- 28:54Speaker 3: what we see, the things we digest, listen to read,
- 28:57Speaker 3: that type of thing, it will start to program us
- 29:00Speaker 3: into a way of thinking that may or may not
- 29:02Speaker 3: be beneficial to us. So one of the things that
- 29:05Speaker 3: we always try to do is help people find their
- 29:07Speaker 3: purpose and help people find what it is that they're
- 29:10Speaker 3: the reason they're here type of thing. But it also
- 29:12Speaker 3: kind of helps them kind of solidify.
- 29:15Speaker 2: What they believe.
- 29:16Speaker 3: And what's really really great is that once you understand
- 29:18Speaker 3: what it is you actually believe, you can then contrast
- 29:22Speaker 3: the world against your beliefs because you actually hold these beliefs.
- 29:25Speaker 3: Once you start getting that anchor point for people, you
- 29:29Speaker 3: start to see them change the way that they view
- 29:31Speaker 3: the world. So one of the things that if we
- 29:33Speaker 3: can start, like I said, recognize what's out there is
- 29:36Speaker 3: trying to change the way we think and change that
- 29:38Speaker 3: we act and program us, we have to have something
- 29:41Speaker 3: solid to anchor against that. So that's one of those
- 29:44Speaker 3: things that we need to kind of, like I said,
- 29:45Speaker 3: factor into our daily lives.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Sure, yeah, I mean, this is this is tough stuff
- 29:52Speaker 1: to do, especially when the beast nest gets hit with
- 29:59Speaker 1: with something that emotionally charges so many of us and
- 30:07Speaker 1: our phones. The news everything is just saturated with some
- 30:12Speaker 1: event that has happened, whether it was the murder in
- 30:18Speaker 1: North Carolina or Charlie Kirk's murder, whatever it may be,
- 30:22Speaker 1: and it just awakens us to enormous sensitivity and we
- 30:27Speaker 1: forget to see what's right in front of us, and
- 30:33Speaker 1: stuff starts slipping through the cracks if we're paying too
- 30:36Speaker 1: much attention to what's going on. It's happened to me.
- 30:39Speaker 1: I'm sure it's happened to you. Doctor.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Oh absolutely.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Your book. Tell us about your book and your website,
- 30:50Speaker 1: Pillars of Wellness dot com.
- 30:54Speaker 3: Yeah, so the book was trying to illustrate the way
- 30:58Speaker 3: that we get back to health again.
- 31:00Speaker 2: It's how is the body designed and how do we
- 31:03Speaker 2: stray away from that?
- 31:03Speaker 3: And how do we get back to that original design,
- 31:07Speaker 3: taking the chemicals out.
- 31:08Speaker 2: That we need out, putting the chemicals in that we
- 31:10Speaker 2: need in.
- 31:11Speaker 3: And I wanted to kind of go through and kind
- 31:13Speaker 3: of explain some of this why some of the things
- 31:16Speaker 3: we've been told are completely inaccurate for instance, testosterone is
- 31:19Speaker 3: not a drug.
- 31:19Speaker 2: Man didn't make it. God made it.
- 31:22Speaker 3: It's extremely critical to function of your body for health, regeneration,
- 31:26Speaker 3: and healing, but we are told that it is terrible
- 31:28Speaker 3: and we shouldn't use it.
- 31:29Speaker 2: So there's a lot.
- 31:30Speaker 3: Of things in the book that's like, here's some information
- 31:34Speaker 3: that is contrary to what you have been told, and
- 31:36Speaker 3: here's the research on it. And here's why it's important
- 31:38Speaker 3: that we recognize these facts. Because we have seen depression, PTSD,
- 31:45Speaker 3: you know, celiac, you know, gird, like all kinds of issues,
- 31:48Speaker 3: type two diabetes. We fix a lot. We can fix
- 31:51Speaker 3: these things. We don't have to rely on allowing them
- 31:54Speaker 3: to damage the body. But the whole purpose of the
- 31:56Speaker 3: book was this is how physiology is set up, this
- 31:59Speaker 3: is how we're designed. And every single time when someoney
- 32:03Speaker 3: gets closer to the original design of the physiology, the
- 32:05Speaker 3: way the machine was designed to function the machine doesn't
- 32:08Speaker 3: function is much better. And so that was just kind
- 32:11Speaker 3: of that's the empathus of the book of you know,
- 32:13Speaker 3: here's all the things where we're supposed to be. As
- 32:16Speaker 3: we get closer to it, you've all seen that we
- 32:17Speaker 3: get better. Let's just walk down this road to where
- 32:20Speaker 3: it ends, and we will all be healthier than we
- 32:22Speaker 3: were when we start it.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Wow.
- 32:27Speaker 1: One book for now.
- 32:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm going to start working on one for the
- 32:32Speaker 3: psychological part, because what I've found in working with us
- 32:35Speaker 3: for twenty years is that the biochemical piece is very
- 32:38Speaker 3: important and it needs to be the beginning. But most
- 32:41Speaker 3: people in the first six to ten weeks can get
- 32:43Speaker 3: that piece down. The rest of it takes the rest
- 32:47Speaker 3: of your life to sort through and design your life
- 32:51Speaker 3: and file follow your purpose. What we need is and
- 32:54Speaker 3: this is one of the things that we do, is
- 32:55Speaker 3: we start showing people how to break that down, how
- 32:59Speaker 3: to define what it is for.
- 33:01Speaker 2: You that you need to do. And that's the other
- 33:04Speaker 2: piece of it.
- 33:04Speaker 3: Once we get the psychology piece put together and you
- 33:07Speaker 3: can figure out or get the general direction of your purpose,
- 33:11Speaker 3: then you can live in joy because joy is doing
- 33:14Speaker 3: the thing that we were designed to do and doing
- 33:16Speaker 3: it every day to its fullest.
- 33:18Speaker 2: So that's kind of the way that we help people
- 33:20Speaker 2: move not.
- 33:21Speaker 3: Only through the biochemical piece, but into the psychological and
- 33:24Speaker 3: the spiritual piece.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Wow, so much there, There is so much there. I
- 33:30Speaker 1: know I'm listening to and I'm thinking if some of
- 33:34Speaker 1: us could just find a way to devote a little
- 33:39Speaker 1: bit of our day or maybe a little bit of
- 33:41Speaker 1: our week. Maybe it's just thirty minutes on a Sunday
- 33:45Speaker 1: to just flip through some pages of your book or
- 33:50Speaker 1: just listen to your podcast, that it could really add
- 33:58Speaker 1: up and make a big, big difference. Pillars of Wellness
- 34:02Speaker 1: dot Com an Yeah.
- 34:09Speaker 2: I I you know, and that's that's the whole reason
- 34:11Speaker 2: I do it.
- 34:12Speaker 3: And you know, it's one of those things where it's
- 34:14Speaker 3: you know, I've had people call and be like, hey,
- 34:16Speaker 3: so my favorite thing is I had a patient come
- 34:18Speaker 3: in and he uh, he was here because his wife
- 34:20Speaker 3: made him, because he was being polite, and his doctor
- 34:24Speaker 3: had told him his entire life that everything.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Was fine, his heart was great.
- 34:27Speaker 3: We did a ct angiogram on him and we found
- 34:29Speaker 3: out that four of the arteries to his heart were
- 34:31Speaker 3: significantly blocked. This is the type of thing that is
- 34:36Speaker 3: important if people understand what actually causes urtel or plaquing
- 34:40Speaker 3: and how to prevent it. This can save lives and
- 34:43Speaker 3: I talk about it all the time. And so this
- 34:46Speaker 3: is the type of thing that if we start to
- 34:48Speaker 3: understand how the machine works, we will end up being healthier.
- 34:52Speaker 3: So you know, I want people to vet everything I say,
- 34:55Speaker 3: and I want you to look at everything else.
- 34:56Speaker 2: But this isn't type of idea.
- 34:58Speaker 3: This is a type of healing that you haven't been
- 35:01Speaker 3: that people are not getting from this system that was
- 35:04Speaker 3: created by our government to keep everybody thinking and acting
- 35:08Speaker 3: in one way. So that's the that's the genesis of
- 35:11Speaker 3: why we do what I do what I do.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Wow. Meanwhile, you know, I'm sure there's many out there
- 35:20Speaker 1: that are doing the same thing. I'm just flipping through
- 35:22Speaker 1: my aarp uh a little magazine here, but maybe we
- 35:32Speaker 1: should look at pillarsof Wellness dot com. It's good stuff.
- 35:36Speaker 1: This is great stuff.
- 35:38Speaker 2: Thank you. I hope it helps people.
- 35:41Speaker 1: I really appreciate your time, doctor Chalmers so much. We're
- 35:45Speaker 1: going to put a photo of your book up here
- 35:48Speaker 1: in just a little bit and make sure that people
- 35:50Speaker 1: have a link to it, and thank you ever so
- 35:52Speaker 1: much for your time. We appreciate it so so much.
- 35:55Speaker 2: Anytime, sir, good to talk to you.
- 35:57Speaker 1: Talk to you soon, we hope. What a great guy
- 36:00Speaker 1: and someone who has has been on aired out in
- 36:03Speaker 1: the past, just amazing love it. Physicians are working so
- 36:11Speaker 1: hard in so many ways to help us. But we
- 36:16Speaker 1: have to find a way to also help ourselves, which
- 36:22Speaker 1: will do nothing more than help a physician help you.
- 36:28Speaker 1: So do your part, do your due diligence, and start
- 36:32Speaker 1: maybe creating some new habits, some new regiments in your
- 36:36Speaker 1: life that will allow you to move forward in a
- 36:40Speaker 1: healthier way by mind, by body, by spirit, and take time,
- 36:49Speaker 1: you know, don't rush with this. We all need to
- 36:55Speaker 1: do a better job, including yours. Truly, when it comes
- 36:59Speaker 1: to stuff like that, it is so easy to get
- 37:01Speaker 1: caught up in what's going on. For me, it's fomo,
- 37:07Speaker 1: the acronym for fear of missing out. I got I
- 37:11Speaker 1: want to know what's going on. I want to know
- 37:13Speaker 1: what's happening. Oh yes, that craft fair, this and that
- 37:16Speaker 1: and this is going on this weekend and I just
- 37:21Speaker 1: I don't know. We need to put our phone down,
- 37:27Speaker 1: We need to tap the brakes, We need to figuratively
- 37:38Speaker 1: stop all things and swing that leg over the motorcycle
- 37:45Speaker 1: and just ride for the sake of just riding, no
- 37:55Speaker 1: matter what that is. Maybe it's shutting off everything, literally
- 38:02Speaker 1: powering off your phone and reading for fifteen minutes every
- 38:07Speaker 1: day or half an hour. It's okay, phone's not going anywhere.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Neither is the news. It's always going to be there. Now, listen.
- 38:20Speaker 1: When it comes to mental health, fair to say that
- 38:29Speaker 1: all of us have, in some way or another been
- 38:37Speaker 1: affected by some kind of stress. Whether it's something that
- 38:44Speaker 1: we've created ourselves, whether it's an external factor out of
- 38:49Speaker 1: our control, whatever it may be, We've all experienced a
- 38:55Speaker 1: stress hit. Some of you have taking a stress hit
- 39:03Speaker 1: this morning, and some of you will later today, and
- 39:09Speaker 1: you don't even know it if you, like so many others,
- 39:16Speaker 1: are having a tough time carrying this weight, And just
- 39:25Speaker 1: like so many of us, I'm I'm I'm no different.
- 39:31Speaker 1: There's there's times I'm walking around carrying an ungodly amount
- 39:38Speaker 1: of weight that I myself don't show that I am
- 39:44Speaker 1: not transparent with things that are weighing on my mind,
- 39:51Speaker 1: things that are bugging me, things that I need to
- 39:57Speaker 1: get off my chest. Things I'm worried. If you are
- 40:06Speaker 1: having a hard time pushing through, faking it to make
- 40:12Speaker 1: it getting through the day, I'm going to give you
- 40:17Speaker 1: a phone number here, and I'm going to tell you
- 40:21Speaker 1: who it is and why they're waiting for you on
- 40:27Speaker 1: the other end of the line. Before I even give
- 40:30Speaker 1: you this phone number. I want to tell you that
- 40:33Speaker 1: whoever picks up the line is going to keep you
- 40:39Speaker 1: and your information completely private. You will be anonymous. I
- 40:50Speaker 1: don't even think you need to give them your name
- 40:54Speaker 1: because there's nothing on file. You will not be considered
- 41:00Speaker 1: a patient. You will, however, be speaking with a real
- 41:06Speaker 1: human being on the other end of the line who
- 41:08Speaker 1: most likely will be able to relate to anything that
- 41:13Speaker 1: you are feeling or going through. So grab a pencil,
- 41:21Speaker 1: pull over if you need to. This is one of
- 41:28Speaker 1: the outstanding counselors who can field any question you have,
- 41:40Speaker 1: or any comments you have, or anything that you're going through.
- 41:45Speaker 1: They're trained, they're professional, and they're waiting for you right now.
- 41:50Speaker 1: At Washington County Mental Health. There is no wait list,
- 41:57Speaker 1: and again, your name is thought of It no files,
- 42:01Speaker 1: no records, no medical history here, it's just someone that
- 42:06Speaker 1: you can speak with. And it doesn't have to be
- 42:12Speaker 1: anything massive. I mean it can be. But even if
- 42:17Speaker 1: it's something that seemingly to you anyway you might think
- 42:22Speaker 1: is kind of trivial, or that you are embarrassed about,
- 42:30Speaker 1: or you think that someone's not going to understand you
- 42:33Speaker 1: or relate to what you're feeling, try them. You get
- 42:41Speaker 1: three to five sessions at no cost to you, three
- 42:47Speaker 1: to five, and if you decide you need more, they're
- 42:52Speaker 1: going to steer you in the right direction and get
- 42:54Speaker 1: you lined up with someone who can help you out.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Here's the phone number. It's right here, Washington County Mental Health,
- 43:07Speaker 1: right here in central from on eight oh two two
- 43:10Speaker 1: two nine oh five nine one. I'm gonna put that
- 43:14Speaker 1: in the comments here so that y'all have it. Eight
- 43:16Speaker 1: oh two two two nine five nine one. And literally
- 43:31Speaker 1: there's a councilor that's on the other end of that
- 43:33Speaker 1: line that can help you out. Maybe it's some advice
- 43:41Speaker 1: that you need or don't even realize that you need,
- 43:45Speaker 1: or maybe you just need to be pointed in the
- 43:47Speaker 1: right direction, or maybe you just need to hear another
- 43:51Speaker 1: human being say I get it, I I understand, or
- 43:59Speaker 1: I know people who will understand. Relatability is, in my opinion,
- 44:10Speaker 1: is probably the driving force behind the message that I
- 44:15Speaker 1: try to push on this podcast more than anything else.
- 44:22Speaker 1: And relatability can be something that is very funny and
- 44:31Speaker 1: something that we all can laugh at because we've been there,
- 44:37Speaker 1: done that, or it can be something quite serious, whether
- 44:45Speaker 1: it's loss, whether it's worry. Relatability is the driving force.
- 44:56Speaker 1: It is the number one thing that I hang my
- 45:00Speaker 1: hat on every single morning. With whatever it is that
- 45:06Speaker 1: I bring to these microphones, remember that be good to
- 45:14Speaker 1: one another. Take a deep breath for yourself and for others,
- 45:24Speaker 1: because they will see the difference. Your husband and your wife,
- 45:28Speaker 1: your boyfriend, girlfriend, partner, whatever, We'll see the difference in
- 45:38Speaker 1: this afternoon, regardless of the back pain. I'm gonna swing
- 45:45Speaker 1: that leg over the mic, over the over the motorcycle
- 45:48Speaker 1: again with Lily, and we're going to get our helmets
- 45:53Speaker 1: on and we're going to go out and we're gonna
- 45:56Speaker 1: have a great time, and we're gonna forget about everything
- 46:04Speaker 1: that's going on, and we're going to just simply be
- 46:08Speaker 1: present in the moment and be happy in it. Have
- 46:16Speaker 1: a great day, everybody. God bless
