- 0:04Speaker 1: Been a while since we have spoken to our buddy
- 0:06Speaker 1: Danny parkins here. First thing first from five to six
- 0:09Speaker 1: pm on FS one, and Danny joins us right now.
- 0:13Speaker 1: We were having a conversation round before we started here
- 0:16Speaker 1: about how he chose grew up in Chicago Opening day
- 0:21Speaker 1: is today, but went to school somehow he chose a
- 0:25Speaker 1: colder climate than Chicago and chose to go to Syracuse.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Syracuse is miserable, man. Uh, you know it is. If
- 0:34Speaker 2: you you think one hundred plus inches of snow and
- 0:38Speaker 2: just ray all the time, you to find that as miserable.
- 0:41Speaker 2: I mean, yes, I do.
- 0:43Speaker 1: I went to school in Winstern, Massachusetts, so I know, yeah,
- 0:46Speaker 1: you know.
- 0:46Speaker 2: I was just like I was always like, hey, you
- 0:48Speaker 2: know football, you watch it indoors. Who cares what the
- 0:51Speaker 2: weather is outside? But I didn't fully appreciate how terrible
- 0:58Speaker 2: it would be shoveling next to eighteen inches of snow
- 1:01Speaker 2: off my car every day every day. Right.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Chicago's a different kind of of cold. It doesn't snow
- 1:08Speaker 1: as much, but when that wind kicks in, it bites you.
- 1:11Speaker 1: It literally bites you if you're walking against the wind.
- 1:14Speaker 2: It's the worst type of cold.
- 1:15Speaker 1: But Syracuse is just endless snow and endless shoveling.
- 1:19Speaker 2: You're right, yeah, it's yeah. Chicago is colder. Syracuse is
- 1:23Speaker 2: way less convenient, Like just like getting anywhere in Syracuse.
- 1:29Speaker 2: It's like I have to go pick up Chipotle and
- 1:32Speaker 2: it's like I don't know, right, right, might never I
- 1:37Speaker 2: might never eat again, right Chicago, Grim and Barrett, you will,
- 1:40Speaker 2: But Syracuse it's just so terrible. It's like, oh, we're
- 1:46Speaker 2: gonna go to the bar, all right, put your boots on.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Can we cross country ski to the bar? Like it
- 1:52Speaker 2: was just it was ridiculous, but you would drink yourself warm.
- 1:55Speaker 2: It was a fun place to go to drink yourself warm.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Danny, did you ever imagine we'd arrive in a place
- 2:00Speaker 1: where I guess in a week span, the Syracuse head
- 2:03Speaker 1: coaching job was available, Jerry McNamara was hire.
- 2:07Speaker 2: We'll get your thoughts done that.
- 2:08Speaker 1: But now you have Carolina and potentially Kansas with job
- 2:12Speaker 1: openings in college basketball.
- 2:14Speaker 2: It's crazy, man, it is crazy. And as much as
- 2:17Speaker 2: I would love to talk about the Big three right there,
- 2:20Speaker 2: there's clearly the Big two and Syracuse. Yeah, but once
- 2:26Speaker 2: upon a time, I mean, come on, you know what,
- 2:28Speaker 2: Once upon a time, But like, I actually think this
- 2:30Speaker 2: is a pretty interesting thing. Like the schools. If you
- 2:35Speaker 2: don't have eight, ten, twelve, fifteen, twenty million bucks to
- 2:42Speaker 2: spend on your roster, yes every year, who cares? If
- 2:48Speaker 2: you won the national title in two thousand and three,
- 2:52Speaker 2: you're not recruiting off of like history and tradition anymore.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Like kids are playing for two, three, four teams in
- 3:00Speaker 2: there four years of college now, like it's they're going
- 3:03Speaker 2: through the biggest paycheck, which I know you respect, of course, yeah,
- 3:07Speaker 2: who doesn't, right, But like Syracuse wanted to hire the
- 3:11Speaker 2: dude who got the Providence job, and Providence had more
- 3:14Speaker 2: money for him, right you know, So like Syracuse has
- 3:18Speaker 2: not stepped up in an nil world to spend that
- 3:22Speaker 2: kind of money. Now North Carolina does, and Kansas seems too,
- 3:27Speaker 2: and so you know theyre but like so does Texas Tech.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Like Texas Tech basketball is a better job than Syracuse basketball.
- 3:34Speaker 2: That's unbelievable.
- 3:35Speaker 1: It really, it's it's it's it's stunning to be honest
- 3:38Speaker 1: with you, Yes.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Yeah, but but it's objectively true. Like like in the incause,
- 3:43Speaker 2: who cares, Like, oh, you can play in front of
- 3:45Speaker 2: thirty thousand people in the Carrier Dome to watch a
- 3:48Speaker 2: fifteen win team, Like you know, it just it doesn't
- 3:52Speaker 2: it doesn't matter anymore. And like I don't say this
- 3:55Speaker 2: with like joy, but until my alma mater figures out
- 4:00Speaker 2: a way to compete monetarily in an NIL world, Like
- 4:06Speaker 2: they're not a powerhouse program anymore. It's it's sad, but
- 4:10Speaker 2: it's it's just the it's the new world order BYU
- 4:15Speaker 2: seems to spend more money, yes NIL basketball than Syracuse
- 4:18Speaker 2: does right now.
- 4:19Speaker 1: So it's just it's not a big job. No, you
- 4:21Speaker 1: have me a providence. I mean, like, so people are like, are.
- 4:26Speaker 2: You excited about Jerry McNamara, It's like, well, like yeah,
- 4:30Speaker 2: in a vacuum for nostalgia, right, he hit six threes
- 4:34Speaker 2: in the first half of the final game against Kansas
- 4:37Speaker 2: with mellow. Then he had that biggiesst Tournament run his
- 4:40Speaker 2: senior year where he hit the game winners, and like
- 4:42Speaker 2: that was my freshman year. So like, I love Gmac,
- 4:45Speaker 2: Like I've interviewed him a bunch, Like we've interacted a
- 4:47Speaker 2: few times when I worked there. Like, yeah, it's great,
- 4:51Speaker 2: but nostalgia's only gonna get you so far if you
- 4:54Speaker 2: have millions of dollars to spend on players, and I
- 4:58Speaker 2: don't think that he does.
- 5:00Speaker 1: It's interesting because kids are no longer looking at Syracuse
- 5:04Speaker 1: and thinking Jim Beheim, thinking the Carrier Dome, thinking oh,
- 5:07Speaker 1: Derek Coleman played there, Oh, Billy Owen's played there. Oh
- 5:10Speaker 1: Carmelo Anthony played there. It's just where and who is
- 5:14Speaker 1: going to pay me the most money? And by the way,
- 5:16Speaker 1: and I had this conversation with an uber driver last night,
- 5:18Speaker 1: because you know, that's what you do when you're in
- 5:20Speaker 1: an uber at eleven thirty headed the Chapel Hill, North Carolina,
- 5:23Speaker 1: boots on the ground to get to the bottom of
- 5:25Speaker 1: what's going on with Youubert Davis, and this uber driver
- 5:28Speaker 1: is blessed in all these eighteen, nineteen twenty year old
- 5:31Speaker 1: kids for just going from.
- 5:33Speaker 2: School to school. School hopping is.
- 5:35Speaker 1: What he called it, school hopping because they want the money.
- 5:38Speaker 2: And I said, hey, imagine if.
- 5:40Speaker 1: You were eighteen and you could grab that kind of money,
- 5:43Speaker 1: money that could change your life, and you're not certain
- 5:47Speaker 1: you're going to make it to the NBA, to the
- 5:48Speaker 1: next level, you would grab all that money. And the
- 5:51Speaker 1: uber driver hit his brakes and he turned around to
- 5:54Speaker 1: me and he said, you know what, You're right. If
- 5:57Speaker 1: I were eighteen, I would grab all that money. How
- 5:59Speaker 1: about that Danny.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Reach one Teach one. You changed one person's opinion and
- 6:07Speaker 2: you were like, imagine it was you, And they're like,
- 6:10Speaker 2: oh my god, I had never considered illuminating. Right, It's
- 6:14Speaker 2: like a light went off. Yeah, like the most basic
- 6:17Speaker 2: form of persuasion, put yourself in someone else's shoes. I
- 6:20Speaker 2: never fucked you do that. But you know Uber drives.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Uber drivers have conviction.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I mean they're driving around, They're thinking about this ship
- 6:29Speaker 1: all day, They're talking about it with every customer. It
- 6:31Speaker 1: is hard to change an Uber driver's mind.
- 6:35Speaker 2: No, you did a public service, you absolutely did. Yeah,
- 6:41Speaker 2: And like I do think that there is an argument
- 6:45Speaker 2: of like is it like it's obviously in their best
- 6:49Speaker 2: interest monetarily, but would it be better to for just
- 6:55Speaker 2: like the friends you make in college, right, like the
- 6:59Speaker 2: college experience. Yes, who have the same coach, the same teammates,
- 7:05Speaker 2: the same friends, the same people, you know what I mean?
- 7:07Speaker 2: Like that is something that these kids are getting robbed of. Right,
- 7:10Speaker 2: go to Florida Atlantic and then you have a final
- 7:14Speaker 2: four run and you were making seventy five grand, and
- 7:17Speaker 2: then Michigan calls like, we want to pay you seven
- 7:20Speaker 2: hundred and fifty grand, but you can FaceTime your old teammates,
- 7:24Speaker 2: you know what I mean? Yes, you're ain't gonna miss
- 7:30Speaker 2: them that much. Right, you had to miss them that much?
- 7:32Speaker 2: How good a friends could you possibly? It's been in
- 7:36Speaker 2: one year, Like you're gonna You're gonna figure it out.
- 7:38Speaker 2: You could buy a nice coach if you have to
- 7:40Speaker 2: Florida Like it's it's it's the money's crazy. It is crazy.
- 7:44Speaker 1: But coaches have been able to do that for years,
- 7:46Speaker 1: and now the players could do it, So I'm good
- 7:47Speaker 1: with that.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it's right. Yeah, where do you come out on
- 7:51Speaker 2: the unintended consequence of Like we like Texas is the
- 7:55Speaker 2: lowest seed remaining in the tournaments. We can't call them Cinderella.
- 8:00Speaker 2: I won't call them Cinderella. Absolutely not No mean either,
- 8:03Speaker 2: Like it's the richest athletic department in the country. You
- 8:07Speaker 2: don't get to be Cinderella like Iowa, Iowa, unbelievably like
- 8:11Speaker 2: cool human interest story the dude who hits the game
- 8:14Speaker 2: winning shot to beat Florida from Spane. His father passed away.
- 8:18Speaker 2: He runs into his mom's arms. She hadn't seen him
- 8:20Speaker 2: play in the US and years classic March Madness story. Yes,
- 8:25Speaker 2: but that's not Cinderella. You come from the Big ten.
- 8:27Speaker 2: You're no you know, And so I do think like
- 8:31Speaker 2: the wealth inequality gap in America is growing, like the
- 8:35Speaker 2: wealth inequality gap in college sports is growing. Where like
- 8:38Speaker 2: Thursday and Friday the tournament, these games were just twenty thirty,
- 8:42Speaker 2: forty point blowouts. Cinderella has no shot anymore. Because the
- 8:48Speaker 2: way that Cinderella would work was, Oh, I'm gonna stay
- 8:51Speaker 2: at Loyola or Florida Atlantic or George Mason for three
- 8:55Speaker 2: or four years, great chemistry, and then we'll snipe off
- 9:00Speaker 2: a team of one and done's who are eighteen or
- 9:02Speaker 2: nineteen years old. Like I honestly think it's done. Like
- 9:06Speaker 2: I don't see a world where mid major double digit
- 9:11Speaker 2: seed can win again. I really don't.
- 9:13Speaker 1: I totally agree with you. You brought up Loyola, Hank Gathers,
- 9:17Speaker 1: Bo Kimball. They come to mind. If they existed today,
- 9:19Speaker 1: Loyola cannot exist today. This is a team that I
- 9:22Speaker 1: think went on a run to the Elite eight, maybe
- 9:23Speaker 1: the Final four, I'm not sure, but they cannot exist
- 9:27Speaker 1: today because Hank Gathers ends up at North Carolina or Kansas,
- 9:30Speaker 1: you know, yeah.
- 9:31Speaker 2: And like immediately, it's not even after freshman year, yes, yeah,
- 9:36Speaker 2: after his freshman year. Because these programs not only do
- 9:40Speaker 2: they have coaches, they have general managers, right, They literally
- 9:43Speaker 2: have people whose job it is is to scout other
- 9:46Speaker 2: teams and know how much money these kids are making
- 9:49Speaker 2: and be like, oh, we can make them an offer
- 9:51Speaker 2: we can't refuse. So you're not even gonna get two
- 9:54Speaker 2: years at these schools. Like the second you pop, you're
- 9:57Speaker 2: gonna get plucked with undeniable money, which, like I am
- 10:01Speaker 2: four players getting paid, right, This is a what I
- 10:05Speaker 2: would say, unintended consequence. Some people would say it was
- 10:08Speaker 2: intended and they knew it was coming, but like, it's
- 10:10Speaker 2: just a thing that we have to change, Like March
- 10:12Speaker 2: Madness is going to be fundamentally different for forever.
- 10:15Speaker 1: So I'm kind of okay with that from the standpoint
- 10:17Speaker 1: of I love Cinderellos.
- 10:18Speaker 2: I love the upsets.
- 10:19Speaker 1: The first you know, the first two days, four days
- 10:22Speaker 1: of the tournament, you had a couple with VCU over
- 10:24Speaker 1: in North Carolina, but you didn't have a lot. I'm
- 10:27Speaker 1: okay with that, because I like Cinderella's right up until
- 10:30Speaker 1: they interrupt my final four, Like I want big brands
- 10:34Speaker 1: in the final four, and so I'm kind of okay
- 10:36Speaker 1: where with where college basketball is headed from that regard.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Yeah, they these games just need to deliver, yes, you know,
- 10:43Speaker 2: like if we're going to get a ton of blowouts
- 10:46Speaker 2: early and then we get Hurley v. Is A Patino v. Shire,
- 10:51Speaker 2: you know, Darius Acuff and Calipari going to get a
- 10:55Speaker 2: chance to go through you know, Arizona, Like that's great,
- 10:59Speaker 2: and like the storylines for this Houston Illinois should be
- 11:03Speaker 2: an incredible game, Like the storylines for the Sweet sixteen
- 11:07Speaker 2: and Elite eight are amazing and instead of David v. Glyth,
- 11:11Speaker 2: you get Goliath v. Glithe and like I'm here for it, right,
- 11:14Speaker 2: But now the games need to deliver, yes, you know,
- 11:17Speaker 2: like we because I do think like the best part
- 11:20Speaker 2: of the tournament was sixty four going down to sixteen
- 11:24Speaker 2: over four days, Yes, right, like forty eight single elimination
- 11:28Speaker 2: games in four days. Now sixteen to four right, Yeah,
- 11:32Speaker 2: it's just a small number of games, yes, standalone. So
- 11:36Speaker 2: like like if there's a blowout in the noon window
- 11:40Speaker 2: on Thursday, there's three other games going on. Yes, now,
- 11:44Speaker 2: when we're in like single television windows of games, if
- 11:47Speaker 2: there's a blowout, it is going to impact how much
- 11:50Speaker 2: people like stay locked into the product. So like these
- 11:53Speaker 2: games just need to deliver.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Yes, Dany, is it strange that Duke being the number
- 11:58Speaker 3: one overall seed seems to be the one seed remaining
- 12:01Speaker 3: that people should trust the least.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, Uh, it's they were a down double
- 12:09Speaker 2: digits to Siena in the second half. They were tied
- 12:11Speaker 2: with TCU with fourteen minutes left in the second half
- 12:15Speaker 2: of their round of thirty two game. You know, they
- 12:17Speaker 2: got the one guy back from an injury, they got
- 12:18Speaker 2: another guy out. Uh, it's definitely, it's definitely. They definitely
- 12:22Speaker 2: have looked the most vulnerable of the one seeds except
- 12:26Speaker 2: for Florida who lost. You know, they were like number
- 12:28Speaker 2: one overall and now you'd say maybe their third overall
- 12:31Speaker 2: because Michigan and Arizona won more comfortably. But they're also
- 12:34Speaker 2: more injured than Michigan or Arizona. So you know, we
- 12:39Speaker 2: will forget very quickly about Duke having some turbulence in
- 12:45Speaker 2: their opening weekend. If they just like Blitz Patina, Like
- 12:49Speaker 2: they could blitz the two big East teams, right, Like
- 12:52Speaker 2: if they just go if they go through Patino and
- 12:53Speaker 2: Hurley Saint Johnson, n No one's gonna remember that. Jerry McNamara,
- 12:58Speaker 2: Syracuse coach, gave him a run in the round four.
- 13:03Speaker 1: That bracket, the East bracket, the Sweet sixteen, Elite eight.
- 13:06Speaker 2: That feels like a final four. Man, that is some
- 13:09Speaker 2: good stuff right there. Yes, yeah, yeah, it's great. We
- 13:11Speaker 2: we did it on the show before the tournament. There
- 13:13Speaker 2: were more final fours among the coaches in the East region.
- 13:18Speaker 2: I think it was twenty one than final fours of
- 13:21Speaker 2: the other three. Reasons about like it was crazy crazy, Yes,
- 13:26Speaker 2: yes it was not. And I mean what about Saint John's,
- 13:29Speaker 2: Like because Saint John's got Kansas in the round of
- 13:32Speaker 2: thirty two, they could go Kansas Duke, Yes, Michigan State
- 13:38Speaker 2: or Yukon get to the final four.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Two games away from a national championship, right yeah.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Yeah, Like having to go through self, Shier and either
- 13:48Speaker 2: Izzo or Hurley to then make the final four is
- 13:52Speaker 2: a ridiculous path.
- 13:54Speaker 3: For Saint john It is Danny, where are you at
- 13:57Speaker 3: with Rick Pattino? Because I've maintained that he's won me over.
- 14:02Speaker 3: I can listen to Rick Patina hold court all day
- 14:04Speaker 3: and Stu has kind of been on the other side
- 14:06Speaker 3: of that, holding strong of he still doesn't like Rick Patina.
- 14:09Speaker 1: No, listen, I want Saint John's to have success. I
- 14:12Speaker 1: grew up during that time where it was Luke carnosecond
- 14:15Speaker 1: Mully and Walter Berry and Willie Glass and Weddington and
- 14:18Speaker 1: they went to the Final four and those were great teams,
- 14:21Speaker 1: and I want Saint John's to get back to that.
- 14:23Speaker 1: I would just prefer they do it without Rick Patino.
- 14:25Speaker 1: But we are saddled with Rick Patino. And I keep
- 14:28Speaker 1: hearing this from guys like Taylor Danny. They don't realize
- 14:30Speaker 1: just how polarizing a guy Rick Patino has been his
- 14:34Speaker 1: entire career, and now he is everyone's favorite. Everyone wants
- 14:39Speaker 1: Patino coaching at their school.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Well, yeah, wait, when you get into your seventies and
- 14:46Speaker 2: say anything and it becomes a little charming instead of
- 14:50Speaker 2: like back in the day it was like, yeah, it's squeezy.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Like he's gone from sleezy to old man charming and
- 14:57Speaker 2: it's a thing that we can all hope for in
- 15:00Speaker 2: our old age. And so yeah, like you know, there's
- 15:02Speaker 2: there's NBA Patino, There's Italian restaurant Patino, there's Kentucky Patino,
- 15:07Speaker 2: like there's all the things that we like, those of
- 15:09Speaker 2: us who have followed it closely. No, but guy could
- 15:14Speaker 2: coach man. Oh, he can coach Jesus Christ. Yes, like
- 15:18Speaker 2: like that stupid internet like of like, uh oh is
- 15:23Speaker 2: this like when there's a video of him yelling at
- 15:25Speaker 2: the player or whatever on the bench and they're like,
- 15:27Speaker 2: is this really the best way to coach? It's like
- 15:29Speaker 2: I think it is for him, Like I'm pretty dead forever, right, Yeah,
- 15:37Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure. Uh but he could be the first
- 15:41Speaker 2: coach ever to take four programs to a final four.
- 15:45Speaker 2: I think how he's doing is working Bob Night, I
- 15:48Speaker 2: mean he'd be crushing it tonight. Yeah yeah, like would
- 15:52Speaker 2: I would? I love it for my kid Like no,
- 15:56Speaker 2: of course not. But like you know, a little elling
- 16:00Speaker 2: never heard anybody like he's not putting his hand on kids,
- 16:03Speaker 2: like Bob, you know, just a little verbal abuse, Yes, yes,
- 16:06Speaker 2: just a little bit.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Jerry McNamara, is he enough to get the Syracuse fan
- 16:12Speaker 1: base excited? Is he enough to get more money into
- 16:15Speaker 1: that program? There a nick right, contract away. I mean,
- 16:18Speaker 1: come on, let's tell Nick to start kicking in some cash.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Let's go. Yeah, he would say he donates to the
- 16:23Speaker 2: student radio station, and I would say that doesn't have
- 16:26Speaker 2: the same pizazz as a point guard. Yeah, and I
- 16:27Speaker 2: would tell him to prove it, right, Yeah, Oh yeah,
- 16:30Speaker 2: I've seen that. I can. I can vouch for the
- 16:34Speaker 2: Nick Wright studios that exist a w A R. He
- 16:37Speaker 2: wrote the check, but I but yeah, man, it's listen.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Nick is crushing it, and so he could. They would
- 16:43Speaker 2: definitely be thrilled to have him. But I think that
- 16:46Speaker 2: the gap between Syracuse and North Carolina is more than
- 16:52Speaker 2: a Nick right check. They need to spend a lot
- 16:56Speaker 2: of money because I got you know, I don't. I honestly,
- 16:59Speaker 2: I don't really donate money to buy Alma Matera. Like
- 17:02Speaker 2: you guys have billions of dollars in your endowment, Like
- 17:04Speaker 2: there's there are better causes than the Northeast Liberal Arts
- 17:08Speaker 2: School that you know that I spent like a couple
- 17:11Speaker 2: hundred grand from my journalism degree, Like you know, I
- 17:16Speaker 2: think there are better uses of my philanthropic budget. But
- 17:19Speaker 2: like Jerry McNamara did send an email to everybody for
- 17:22Speaker 2: like the forgiving Tuesday or whatever, and I was like,
- 17:25Speaker 2: it was a good email. I didn't donate a dime,
- 17:27Speaker 2: but it was. But it was a good email, so
- 17:30Speaker 2: some people will donate. I'm sure he did sell you, Danny.
- 17:33Speaker 2: I mean, listen, I gotta be honest, like I like,
- 17:39Speaker 2: you gotta have serious f you money to be able
- 17:44Speaker 2: to think of a number of things, like like you know,
- 17:47Speaker 2: world hunger, Like can't cancer research is being cut at
- 17:53Speaker 2: a federal level. Yes, you know, I would. You know,
- 17:57Speaker 2: I take five percent of my money that I made whatever,
- 17:59Speaker 2: And it's like that's why film oropic budget for the year.
- 18:01Speaker 2: My number one philanthropic cause is we got to get
- 18:04Speaker 2: a six to nine wings. We haven't had one since
- 18:07Speaker 2: the Key Warwick. Like, I don't know, man, I just
- 18:10Speaker 2: I can't. I can't someone else's problem, someone else's problem.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Like you got to have billions and then you got
- 18:16Speaker 2: to show me that you donated to a bunch of
- 18:18Speaker 2: other causes before I could be like, yeah, that was
- 18:20Speaker 2: worth your money. I just don't care that much, Danny.
- 18:23Speaker 3: According to a report from the Chicago Sun Times, there's
- 18:26Speaker 3: growing momentum that Bulls coach Billy Donovan could step away
- 18:29Speaker 3: from the job when this season concludes. Do you think
- 18:33Speaker 3: there could be smoked there with the unc opening.
- 18:36Speaker 2: So I think, listen, there's two things here. I don't
- 18:41Speaker 2: think people fully understand how poorly the Bulls are run.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Like they're run so poorly, like this is a historic
- 18:50Speaker 2: draft class. Everyone has known this is going to be
- 18:52Speaker 2: a historic draft class. It is seemingly better than everyone before.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Teams are outwardly tanking and flaunting the tanking rules, and
- 18:59Speaker 2: the Bulls were terrible. Everyone knew they were going to
- 19:02Speaker 2: be terrible, and then they waited until the trade deadline.
- 19:05Speaker 2: W'd be like, you know what, maybe we should tank,
- 19:07Speaker 2: and so they're just like tanking too late and they're
- 19:09Speaker 2: going to set up with the ninth pick or something.
- 19:11Speaker 2: So they're run remarkably poorly. But I would still say
- 19:16Speaker 2: they make so much money. They're number one in attendance
- 19:19Speaker 2: every year. It's such a global brandy. They did literally
- 19:25Speaker 2: this is not hyperple They did three different Derek Rose
- 19:28Speaker 2: bobblehead nights because they just sell nostalgia and they know
- 19:31Speaker 2: that it will pack the arena and be an above.
- 19:34Speaker 4: Face value ticket to coach the Bulls and make high
- 19:40Speaker 4: seven figures and live in Chicago with no real pressure
- 19:47Speaker 4: from ownership to win because there's no real expectations as
- 19:50Speaker 4: long as they make money.
- 19:52Speaker 2: The Kentucky job was opened. The Kentucky job was open
- 19:55Speaker 2: two years ago, and Billy Donovan took his name out
- 19:57Speaker 2: of Punning almost immediately, Yes, because he was like, I
- 20:00Speaker 2: want to coach in the NBA. Like the NBA lifestyle
- 20:03Speaker 2: is just so much better that I'll be surprised if
- 20:07Speaker 2: he goes to North Carolina, but I definitely if he does.
- 20:11Speaker 2: I don't think it's like the North Carolina job is
- 20:14Speaker 2: so great. I think it's like the Bulls job has
- 20:16Speaker 2: gotten so hopeless.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's a cushy job. As you mentioned, he
- 20:19Speaker 1: could sit there forever and still get paid.
- 20:22Speaker 2: But I think at some.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Point the competitor in Billy Donovan's like, hey, I want
- 20:26Speaker 1: to win. And if going back to where I had
- 20:28Speaker 1: the most success was in college, went back.
- 20:30Speaker 2: To back national championships.
- 20:31Speaker 1: The appeal of Carolina is still a very strong appeal
- 20:34Speaker 1: to a coach.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Yeah, listen, I would I would think so also, But
- 20:39Speaker 2: he was he has way more ties to Kentucky than
- 20:43Speaker 2: he does Carolina, and here he didn't bite. Now again
- 20:46Speaker 2: two years have past, so maybe like he's more despondent
- 20:50Speaker 2: on the state of the Bulls over the last two years.
- 20:53Speaker 2: But if he didn't, if he didn't jump at Kentucky,
- 20:57Speaker 2: I don't know why I would predict that he jumps
- 21:00Speaker 2: at Carolina. And I don't you know, I've talked to
- 21:02Speaker 2: Billy Donovan in a couple of times, but I wouldn't
- 21:04Speaker 2: claim to know him. But I do wonder he didn't
- 21:08Speaker 2: want to stay in Oklahoma City because he hated the
- 21:11Speaker 2: idea of a rebuild and he leaves Oklahoma's Now he
- 21:15Speaker 2: gets a big city upgrade obviously, going from Oklahoma City
- 21:18Speaker 2: to Chicago. So like, great city to make eight million
- 21:21Speaker 2: bucks and I don't know what he makes whatever, make
- 21:23Speaker 2: a ton of money, unlike you who downgraded his city.
- 21:25Speaker 2: But go ahead, yeah, thank you. But like, but like
- 21:30Speaker 2: the idea I got to I got to pay raise,
- 21:35Speaker 2: Yeah I did. I did the nil thing. Of course, Yes,
- 21:38Speaker 2: I don't, yes, but but yeah it is. I wonder
- 21:42Speaker 2: if he watches the thunder and is just sick to
- 21:44Speaker 2: his stomach. It's the most well run organization in sports.
- 21:50Speaker 2: It's just the best organization. They tank for a couple
- 21:53Speaker 2: of years, like got Shay got Chet kind of like
- 21:58Speaker 2: perfect tank and right back to the like just best
- 22:01Speaker 2: GM awesome fans on the verge of a dynasty. But
- 22:06Speaker 2: he's got the bulls, He's got Matus Bozellis. It's not grave.
- 22:12Speaker 2: He picked the perfect name. Thank you well, because people
- 22:16Speaker 2: in Chicago people are like, we got Connor Bedard for
- 22:19Speaker 2: the Blackhawks, and Pete Crow Armstrong for the Cubs and
- 22:22Speaker 2: Caleb Williams for the for the Bears, like and we've
- 22:25Speaker 2: got and it's like it's like a big three, like
- 22:26Speaker 2: all guys who could be m vps and like faces
- 22:29Speaker 2: of the league. And then sometimes people are like and
- 22:31Speaker 2: Matus Buzzellis and I'm.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Like, no, no, which one doesn't fit?
- 22:36Speaker 2: Right? Yeah? Mont nice player, young upside seems like a
- 22:41Speaker 2: lovely kid. But no, but no, he doesn't get to
- 22:46Speaker 2: be Pete Crow Armstrong and Caleb Williams is wing man.
- 22:49Speaker 1: I refuse so good, all right, we have a keep
- 22:52Speaker 1: three cut five.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Mikey's gonna take us through it here, Danny and I again,
- 22:57Speaker 2: I have no idea what the topic is, even though
- 22:59Speaker 2: I sent it to him, So I don't believe you
- 23:01Speaker 2: for a second. I don't remember what I said, I
- 23:03Speaker 2: gotta be honest. I'll figure it out. Let's play it again.
- 23:06Speaker 5: Okay, all right, your category is sports media members who
- 23:12Speaker 5: went to Syracuse.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Oh wow, Wow.
- 23:16Speaker 1: There's a lot I get to I get to keep three,
- 23:19Speaker 1: so media and tailor time we need to arrive at consensus.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Okay, but I have to cut them before. I know.
- 23:26Speaker 1: He'll give us the first name. But you're not going
- 23:28Speaker 1: to know the next seven names on there.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Okay, so there could be better names. Yeah, blind rankings, dandy, yes, okay, well, okay.
- 23:35Speaker 6: I will tell you he's stressed out about it.
- 23:38Speaker 2: He really is, Like, I know what you guys are doing.
- 23:40Speaker 2: You're gonna send me up like were I gonna cut
- 23:43Speaker 2: Nick right? Like, no, listen, we're in this together. It's me,
- 23:48Speaker 2: you and Taylor. That's it.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Okay, you don't still sign on your own here, So well,
- 23:52Speaker 1: we'll let you have finals, say, meaning, if there's a five,
- 23:57Speaker 1: let's do it.
- 23:58Speaker 6: I will tell you that I did not know that
- 24:03Speaker 6: Syracuse ran like that.
- 24:04Speaker 5: I mean, I always knew that he ran, But me
- 24:07Speaker 5: trying to whittle this list down to eight what was
- 24:13Speaker 5: really hard to do.
- 24:14Speaker 2: I mean, Syracuse to media is what Indiana is.
- 24:16Speaker 1: The football I mean, what do you and Mikey.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Just to be clear, this is not a top eight.
- 24:22Speaker 3: This is just a ram is.
- 24:23Speaker 6: Not a top eight.
- 24:24Speaker 5: I can't even because I mean I'm getting this information
- 24:27Speaker 5: from Wikipedia.
- 24:28Speaker 6: I can't even confirm whether they.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Went four years. I would expect nothing less.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Listen, Syracuse is the New York the Yankees of sports media. Okay,
- 24:38Speaker 1: that's what it is, the Yankees of sports media. It's
- 24:41Speaker 1: them in Northwestern and that's it.
- 24:43Speaker 2: There is no Frank Frankly for broadcasting.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Were the Yankees or it's a unnecessary shot at wilbond Man.
- 24:52Speaker 2: To modernize it. Were the Dodgers? I mean, Dave Revsen
- 24:56Speaker 2: is going to be pissed. Yeah, yeah, Candy, all right?
- 25:00Speaker 6: Are we ready?
- 25:01Speaker 2: Go ahead?
- 25:02Speaker 6: All right? First name up, Sean McDonough.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Oh my god, yeah, I mean Voice of the Red Sox.
- 25:12Speaker 2: I mean, the best college football play by play guy going.
- 25:16Speaker 2: I think you're right right at the show.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Yeah, friends of the Show, No doubt, I'm keeping him.
- 25:20Speaker 2: I mean, that's no brainer for me. See, I'm so
- 25:25Speaker 2: I would cut him up to Jesus Sean mcdona.
- 25:33Speaker 6: It goes to Taylor.
- 25:34Speaker 2: You got seven names to go, man, Yeah, he's great.
- 25:38Speaker 2: He's great, he's great. Wait, if I were to ask you,
- 25:41Speaker 2: just give me the top.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Three sports media members that graduated from Syracuse, would be
- 25:45Speaker 1: done to be on that list?
- 25:46Speaker 2: No, no, Jesus Christ. They are deep. Oh my god.
- 25:51Speaker 2: And I'm not even gonna go all time like I'm
- 25:54Speaker 2: gonna just do like currently working like I'm removing Marv
- 25:57Speaker 2: Albert from this. I forget about Marv. Dude.
- 26:01Speaker 6: Yeah, I say this. I say this knowing.
- 26:05Speaker 5: Usually I have a little trick up my sleep when
- 26:08Speaker 5: I do this, because I know what I know tricks.
- 26:11Speaker 5: I have no tricks. I have no idea who I'm
- 26:13Speaker 5: leaving out.
- 26:14Speaker 2: That's no idea. There is a right, yeah, because there's
- 26:17Speaker 2: there's a name that has to be in here that
- 26:19Speaker 2: I'm wondering if it made your top eight. But I'll
- 26:21Speaker 2: say that maybe this is like saying no to Pippin.
- 26:23Speaker 2: But later on you get Jordan.
- 26:25Speaker 1: I mean hopefully that's what I'm That's what I'm holding
- 26:27Speaker 1: on home Again.
- 26:27Speaker 2: I I don't say it lightly. I said he's the
- 26:31Speaker 2: best college football broadcaster going, and I'm saying no because
- 26:33Speaker 2: I know how deep the roster is. Do you want
- 26:35Speaker 2: to vote?
- 26:36Speaker 3: So I'm going to side with Danny here, and I'm
- 26:38Speaker 3: going to vote to cut unfortunately.
- 26:40Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, for the record, let it be down
- 26:43Speaker 1: to show on that I voted him in.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Okay, but you're just playing friends of the show.
- 26:48Speaker 5: Yes, okay, thank you did, speaking of a friend of
- 26:52Speaker 5: the show.
- 26:52Speaker 6: Uh. Second name up? Iron Eagle.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Wow, Oh my god, he's joining us later today, I think.
- 26:59Speaker 7: Jum so, I want to hear you cut him before
- 27:03Speaker 7: we have him on in.
- 27:04Speaker 6: A little while.
- 27:05Speaker 1: I want to play this game with Iron and see
- 27:06Speaker 1: we arrived at the same Yeah.
- 27:11Speaker 2: I mean, listen, man, Iron Eagle is He's incredible. He's
- 27:16Speaker 2: but he's gonna cut him. But in my head, I
- 27:19Speaker 2: have a top three. The Bird. I listen, listen the
- 27:23Speaker 2: he makes everyone better. He's awesome at the two biggest
- 27:27Speaker 2: sports that matter, Basketball and football. He's hilarious. He has
- 27:32Speaker 2: a sports radio background with w f A n so,
- 27:34Speaker 2: he's an incredible storyteller. He doesn't take himself too seriously.
- 27:38Speaker 2: I like Iron Eagle personally a lot. I think i'd
- 27:42Speaker 2: have to cut him.
- 27:43Speaker 3: Oh my, Danny, can you help me out here for
- 27:45Speaker 3: a second. Who are the three that you're you're trying
- 27:48Speaker 3: to keep.
- 27:49Speaker 6: I'm not going to change my list change list. I
- 27:55Speaker 6: will not I have Yeah.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Listen, Bob Costas is the greatest sportscaster ever, so he
- 28:04Speaker 2: Costas is number one. Uh.
- 28:07Speaker 6: He went to.
- 28:12Speaker 2: If Stu is going to be biased to friends of
- 28:13Speaker 2: the show, I will be biased to my best friend.
- 28:16Speaker 2: I was the best man in his wedding. Nick, Right,
- 28:18Speaker 2: I believe he's the number one sports media personality going
- 28:23Speaker 2: right now in the commentary space. I think he would
- 28:28Speaker 2: be the number one pick for smarts and entertainment.
- 28:32Speaker 1: He's wonderful. He's great, he really is, And I agree
- 28:34Speaker 1: with everything you just said. I would cut him though.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's totally fair. That's totally fair. So Nick.
- 28:40Speaker 2: And then this is where it's really tough.
- 28:45Speaker 5: To me.
- 28:45Speaker 2: The next two names are Mike Turco and Jason Bemetti
- 28:49Speaker 2: And to Rico, listen to Tarico, is is him going
- 28:57Speaker 2: from super Bowl to hosting Olympics to NBA play by play?
- 29:01Speaker 3: Like?
- 29:02Speaker 2: But to me, Bennette's just like the younger version.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Yes, now, de Rico is finally getting the praise that
- 29:07Speaker 1: he's deserved for a long ball time.
- 29:08Speaker 2: He's a great broadcaster, He's an incredible broadcaster, and the
- 29:12Speaker 2: ability to do studio hosting and play by play. Yes,
- 29:16Speaker 2: is just it's a very difficult thing. Like to me,
- 29:18Speaker 2: Bennetti is the most versatile play by play guy right now.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Like Bennetti filled in for Brian Anderson when he got SICKA.
- 29:26Speaker 2: Tournament TV. Great job does NCAA Tournament Radio does NFL TV?
- 29:32Speaker 2: Does College Basketball TV? Voice of Baseball on NBC Now,
- 29:36Speaker 2: Voice of Baseball on NBC, Voice of the Tigers man Benetti.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Benetti probably does more games than anybody like he, like
- 29:45Speaker 2: Kim Kenny Albert like, he probably does two hundred and
- 29:49Speaker 2: twenty sporting events a year, I would guess yea. And
- 29:53Speaker 2: his personal story is obviously amazing. He is a mention
- 29:57Speaker 2: of a human being and a close personal friend. Uh
- 30:01Speaker 2: so I would be biased, and I would say Bennetti.
- 30:05Speaker 2: But Tarico, Tarico calling the Super Bowl and hosting the
- 30:08Speaker 2: Olympics within twenty four hours not bad, A pretty indisputable case. Yes, yeah,
- 30:14Speaker 2: So so apologies to Tarico. I'm gonna go, I'm gonna
- 30:18Speaker 2: go buy, I'm gonna go Bennetti, Nick and Costas for
- 30:21Speaker 2: my big three.
- 30:22Speaker 6: But yeah, but but it's Taylor's vote right now.
- 30:25Speaker 2: All right, So I am keeping Iron Eagle. Danny is
- 30:28Speaker 2: cutting him.
- 30:28Speaker 6: We have cut him.
- 30:29Speaker 2: He's done an Iron Eagle, Taylor, go ahead.
- 30:32Speaker 5: So Taylor, if this makes your decision any harder, I
- 30:35Speaker 5: promise you all the names he said are not on
- 30:37Speaker 5: my list.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Oh wow, wow, so Bennetti did Bennetti didn't make your cut? Disrespectful?
- 30:43Speaker 6: Perfect, right, you're not. I'm not one hundred percent sure
- 30:46Speaker 6: that's the right name that hasn't made the list.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Oh okay, wow.
- 30:50Speaker 3: I am going to well by An Eagle.
- 30:54Speaker 2: He's so good, he's so underrated, he's so good.
- 30:57Speaker 6: Cut him two hours before we have him on cut.
- 31:00Speaker 2: No, it's fine, So we're fine. He doesn't care if
- 31:02Speaker 2: Taylor cut him.
- 31:03Speaker 3: I mean, I'm gonna I'm gonna unfortunately cut Iron Eagle.
- 31:06Speaker 6: Oh my god.
- 31:13Speaker 2: But I don't have to talk to Iron in two hours. Yeah,
- 31:16Speaker 2: I just I read. Danny knows I'm gonna play this
- 31:18Speaker 2: back for him.
- 31:19Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 31:19Speaker 2: No, Iron, I love you. You know that I love you.
- 31:22Speaker 2: But like it's a it's the top three is a
- 31:25Speaker 2: tough list.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Get out it is all right, especially what you're right
- 31:28Speaker 1: when you have yeah, six more names to go, all right?
- 31:31Speaker 2: Go ahead?
- 31:33Speaker 5: Oh man, So you cut Sean McDonough. You cut Iron Eagle,
- 31:36Speaker 5: next name up. He's in our homes every Sunday.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Scott Hansen, Oh cut, I mean I love him. Keith
- 31:45Speaker 1: Taylor now wants.
- 31:45Speaker 2: To keep No. No, I cut cut, We're cutting? Can
- 31:49Speaker 2: I say? Can I say one real quick thing about that? Sure?
- 31:51Speaker 6: Of course.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Andrew, the better Red Zone host, also went to Syracuse.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Oh yes he did, and he's a he's a good
- 32:00Speaker 1: friend of mine and I agree with you.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Say it hands hands. The red Zone is a great product.
- 32:04Speaker 2: But that's how deep Syracuse runs. We hosted both Red
- 32:07Speaker 2: Zones show off.
- 32:12Speaker 6: Would you have kept Andrew Siciliano?
- 32:14Speaker 2: No, I gave you my But I'm just saying like that.
- 32:18Speaker 2: It's again Scott's great, but like if you're the second
- 32:21Speaker 2: red Zone host in my mind, and you.
- 32:24Speaker 3: Know so, Mikey, we have five names left and we
- 32:28Speaker 3: have to keep three.
- 32:29Speaker 6: Yeah, you have to keep three of these names.
- 32:31Speaker 2: Go ahead, he's going.
- 32:32Speaker 6: To dangerous game. Dangerous game.
- 32:36Speaker 2: I mean that's who we're gonna get.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Carton, Go ahead, Mike Turrico, keep keep keep easy.
- 32:46Speaker 2: Wow, good census. We should be the first come on
- 32:50Speaker 2: the guy they get. He's he's a perfect broadcaster. That's
- 32:53Speaker 2: an easy one. Yeah, easy, yeah, give us, come on,
- 32:57Speaker 2: give us passing great one.
- 33:00Speaker 6: Next name is up?
- 33:01Speaker 1: Holy ship you did, yeah.
- 33:06Speaker 6: Marv Albert.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Oh we're going all we're not even going currently working.
- 33:11Speaker 6: I don't remember.
- 33:12Speaker 2: I don't saying full time. Oh man, I'll be listen.
- 33:17Speaker 1: How he might be the greatest, he might be the
- 33:19Speaker 1: greatest caller of games we've ever had, well, Ben Scully.
- 33:23Speaker 5: But after this, after Marv, you have three more names.
- 33:27Speaker 5: You have to keep one of them. Right, So we've
- 33:29Speaker 5: kept ta Rico. We have three more names after this
- 33:32Speaker 5: we have We've only kept Tourrico. Right, Yeah, it's only
- 33:35Speaker 5: ta Rico. Yeah, only we.
- 33:37Speaker 2: Have three names. We have to keep two. But Marv
- 33:39Speaker 2: is on the list four four names, including it's a
- 33:45Speaker 2: tough one. Man, that is a tough one. Kenny could
- 33:49Speaker 2: be on there. Costas has to be though, right, Oh yeah,
- 33:53Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know.
- 33:55Speaker 1: I mean, you guys are fucking so deep, it's it's annoying.
- 33:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I'm I'm rolling the dice here and
- 34:03Speaker 2: saying cut because you're holding out hope for Costas because
- 34:07Speaker 2: I'm holding I think I don't know how you don't
- 34:09Speaker 2: put cost with me coming. I'm playing the man here.
- 34:12Speaker 2: I'm looking at Mike, I'm looking at his soul, and
- 34:14Speaker 2: I'm thinking, you're a good enough producer. You knew that
- 34:17Speaker 2: you're probably gonna put Nick last because you wanted me
- 34:20Speaker 2: to have to cut up. Uh, and so you know
- 34:23Speaker 2: I'm holding out that Costas and Nick are on your list.
- 34:26Speaker 2: So I'm cutting Marv Albert. He's insane, insane.
- 34:31Speaker 3: Don't know, Danny, if I know, Mike Y A. Matthew
- 34:37Speaker 3: Berry is somewhere on these last three Matthew Berry.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Oh my god. He went to, if I have to
- 34:43Speaker 2: put Matthew Berry on this list over Marv Albert, I'm
- 34:45Speaker 2: never coming on the show again. Same, same, I'm not coming.
- 34:48Speaker 2: I'll start with you and I will start our own show.
- 34:50Speaker 2: Get the hell out of Yeah, you know I.
- 34:52Speaker 6: Will say this. I will say this.
- 34:54Speaker 5: We've played this game probably ten times. Yeah, Danny's the
- 34:58Speaker 5: first person that gets the show.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Yeah, he gets the game. Yes, I have a long
- 35:05Speaker 2: radio buddy. I know you're right.
- 35:07Speaker 1: He's taking it seriously. Most people just go through the motions.
- 35:09Speaker 1: They're confused by it. They have no idea what the
- 35:11Speaker 1: hell is going on? All right, give us the next day.
- 35:12Speaker 6: We just cut more you Albert, cut Marv Albert.
- 35:17Speaker 7: Okay, so you've cut Sean McDonald, you've cut I an Eagle,
- 35:20Speaker 7: you've cut Scott Hansen, you've cut Marv Albert, You've kept
- 35:24Speaker 7: Mike Tarrico.
- 35:25Speaker 6: Next name up. You have to keep two of the
- 35:27Speaker 6: last three.
- 35:28Speaker 5: Next name up, Nick right, keeping them Taylor.
- 35:36Speaker 3: This is again, I'm gonna side with Danny here and
- 35:38Speaker 3: keep Nick right.
- 35:40Speaker 5: My man, Mike, for yourself, yourself, you've only followed Danny.
- 35:46Speaker 1: What he wanted to do, what Mikey wanted to do.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Danny pointed out, Mike exactly, producer. What Mikey was expecting
- 35:53Speaker 1: from you. There was a big fat note and leaving
- 35:55Speaker 1: it up to me.
- 35:56Speaker 2: That's what he wants.
- 35:57Speaker 6: Thank you, Stu.
- 35:58Speaker 1: Thank you Stu, because he knows what my answer would
- 36:01Speaker 1: have been, and Nick Wright would not be on this list.
- 36:05Speaker 6: Wrong.
- 36:06Speaker 2: Yeah, hell yeah, Okay, all right, So now we have
- 36:09Speaker 2: my to.
- 36:10Speaker 5: Rico and Nick Wright, Mike Turrico and Nick Wright, Sean McDonough,
- 36:14Speaker 5: I and Eagles, Scott Hanson and Marv Albert all cut.
- 36:17Speaker 6: Nick Wright and Mike Urico are kept.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Next name up, Jesus, Jeff passing blasphemy.
- 36:24Speaker 2: I mean seriously that there's a list that.
- 36:26Speaker 1: I mean, I An Eagle was cut, Sean McDonough was
- 36:28Speaker 1: fucking cut.
- 36:29Speaker 2: Nick Wright is on there. This is unbelievable. I admit
- 36:32Speaker 2: my biases. Okay, I admit, I admit everyone has biases.
- 36:38Speaker 2: The people you can the ones who admit understood. Yes,
- 36:41Speaker 2: Now here's the thing, right. Passing and I are also
- 36:45Speaker 2: very good friends the same. Yeah, yeah, I love Passing.
- 36:49Speaker 1: I love him, I really do. He's one of my
- 36:51Speaker 1: favorite people. Forget about fucking announcers, media members, He's just
- 36:54Speaker 1: one of my favorite people.
- 36:56Speaker 2: Completely agree with you, and I will say, in the
- 37:01Speaker 2: world of modern media, where like you have to be
- 37:04Speaker 2: a writer and a reporter and a broadcaster and an opinionist,
- 37:08Speaker 2: like yes, as good as it gets, as.
- 37:11Speaker 6: Good as it gets you guys are cutting him?
- 37:13Speaker 2: No, like they maybe the best, like you know what
- 37:17Speaker 2: I mean, Like chefter, great reporter, he doesn't have like
- 37:21Speaker 2: scathing commentaries like you know what I mean, Like like
- 37:24Speaker 2: Pat Passing will still take people to the woodshed Elmo
- 37:28Speaker 2: voice on your show and then break up story like
- 37:31Speaker 2: you know what I mean, Like like his versatility is insane,
- 37:34Speaker 2: but like what if this is the last guy.
- 37:38Speaker 5: That's the what if Matthew Berry is the last guy?
- 37:44Speaker 2: What if PreK Carton is the last guy? I mean, my.
- 37:49Speaker 3: Thought process here is I could live with myself if
- 37:53Speaker 3: we keep Jeff passing. If we cut Jeff pass in
- 37:57Speaker 3: and the last name is a name we don't want,
- 38:00Speaker 3: that's gonna be tough to swallow.
- 38:02Speaker 2: But we can't cut Costas. I'll never be allowed back
- 38:05Speaker 2: on campus. That's right, He's right, you can't do it,
- 38:12Speaker 2: Bob Costas. It'd be like, hey, name your all time
- 38:15Speaker 2: five Chicago Bulls. It's like, I don't know. I don't
- 38:18Speaker 2: think we have room for Michael Jordan. Leave Jordan off
- 38:21Speaker 2: your all time Bulls team? Yeah? For Jimmy, Like like,
- 38:25Speaker 2: you can't do it. So he was also a good
- 38:28Speaker 2: scoring wing, Like, no, you can't.
- 38:30Speaker 1: What if what if if the last name is Damon
- 38:34Speaker 1: A Mendo Laura Da?
- 38:36Speaker 2: What if the last name? Oh my god, I love Da?
- 38:39Speaker 1: But wait, who who's on Mad Dog Radio after Da? Shine?
- 38:45Speaker 6: On Sports on sports?
- 38:48Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 38:49Speaker 1: Now, Shine love Syracuse so much he sent his kid
- 38:51Speaker 1: to Northwestern?
- 38:52Speaker 2: How about that? Yeah, that's that's a great, great scant
- 38:58Speaker 2: you're creating there. Good job, that's a great that's a
- 39:01Speaker 2: great needle. His name's on all that.
- 39:05Speaker 6: Hey, guys, I need an answer on Jeff Passing here.
- 39:10Speaker 2: All right, I'm a gambler in Passing, knows it. I'm
- 39:12Speaker 2: gambling on cutting Passing for Costas.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Wow, Taylor, I'm keeping Jeff Passen. I mean, yeah, this
- 39:22Speaker 1: is what you should have done to me. That's what
- 39:24Speaker 1: you should have done, because Nick right wouldn't be on
- 39:26Speaker 1: here and you'd be keeping Jeff Passing.
- 39:28Speaker 6: This is one where I have to so in. I
- 39:31Speaker 6: am promising. I am not changing my list.
- 39:34Speaker 3: I know in this scenario, I gotta keep Jeff Passing.
- 39:38Speaker 3: Jeff Passon's gonna move on in our keep three, and
- 39:41Speaker 3: Danny can now live with himself because at least he
- 39:43Speaker 3: could say he tried to get to the last name.
- 39:46Speaker 2: I tried to get to Costas.
- 39:48Speaker 1: He tried, right, Well, that's not exactly the way I'm
- 39:51Speaker 1: In fact, I'm gonna have Bob on and tell him
- 39:53Speaker 1: that Danny cut him go. Costas allows me to have
- 40:00Speaker 1: them all once a year.
- 40:01Speaker 2: I'm gonna use my once a year pass.
- 40:03Speaker 1: On Bob Costas, just to tell them that you've cut
- 40:06Speaker 1: them from the list.
- 40:07Speaker 2: That'd be that'd be helpful. Thank you that's anything I can.
- 40:12Speaker 5: I feel like Bob cost would be like, no, that's
- 40:13Speaker 5: do it's a great list. No, it's okay, Danny, And
- 40:16Speaker 5: then like you go to use your alumni card and
- 40:18Speaker 5: it wouldn't scan, and like you wouldn't be invited to anything,
- 40:22Speaker 5: like yeah, I can say terrible.
- 40:24Speaker 2: Yeah, Taylor was crossing his fingers. All right, today's give
- 40:29Speaker 2: it to us. Give me Craig Corton.
- 40:31Speaker 7: You've cut Sean mcdonney, you've cut Eyron Eagle, you've cut
- 40:34Speaker 7: Scott Hansen, you've cut Marv Albert, you've kept Mike Turrico,
- 40:37Speaker 7: you've kept Nick Right, you've kept Jeff Passing, and you
- 40:43Speaker 7: cut Bob Costas.
- 40:46Speaker 6: I told you.
- 40:49Speaker 2: This is game theory. Folks play the man.
- 40:53Speaker 5: He played the man so well. Upset I was upset.
- 40:58Speaker 5: I was like, damn, he sees right through me. Am
- 41:00Speaker 5: I sharing my screen.
- 41:01Speaker 2: Playing the You gotta play the man.
- 41:05Speaker 3: The problem is this game. I walked hand in hand
- 41:09Speaker 3: with Danny until the final thing.
- 41:14Speaker 2: Yes, you really watched it. It's amazing.
- 41:17Speaker 1: I think the guys we kept off Bob Costas, Iron
- 41:19Speaker 1: Eagle and Sean McDonough are better than the guys we.
- 41:21Speaker 2: Kept it's arguable. And that's the that's the depth of Syracuse.
- 41:28Speaker 2: W A. I upset of a little upt and that
- 41:36Speaker 2: because now that's also the worst the most worlds like
- 41:37Speaker 2: we didn't even win the game in terms of doing
- 41:39Speaker 2: it correctly with costas and I'm for sure going to
- 41:42Speaker 2: hear about it from passing.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Yeah, but Nick Wright will be happy. So yeah, yeah, right, Yeah,
- 41:49Speaker 1: can't please everyone.
- 41:50Speaker 2: Danny can't please, can't please everyone? Yeah, when your roster
- 41:53Speaker 2: is that deep? How about how about the Benetty should
- 41:56Speaker 2: be offended? He's not even in the eighth doubt Listen,
- 41:59Speaker 2: he'd be offended.
- 42:01Speaker 5: He was the first o l I I'm not like
- 42:03Speaker 5: he was one that I deleted. And but I'll tell
- 42:05Speaker 5: you Taylor knows me well. Had I seen Matthew Berry
- 42:08Speaker 5: went to Syracuse, he would have been.
- 42:09Speaker 2: He would have been on the list, right, Did I
- 42:11Speaker 2: see it? Did Kenny? Did Kenny Albert? He just called
- 42:14Speaker 2: the biggest hockey game in the history of the sport
- 42:16Speaker 2: after the Rifles. Yeah, we run deep, Yes, run deep.
- 42:21Speaker 2: He didn't even make the list, didn't even make the list.
- 42:23Speaker 1: It's not a top eight list.
- 42:26Speaker 2: No, you're right, how plenty? Yeah, well clear? How if
- 42:31Speaker 2: it was a top list, how deep would it have
- 42:33Speaker 2: to go for me to be on it? Seventy five,
- 42:37Speaker 2: one hundred double digits?
- 42:39Speaker 6: Double digits, man, double digits.
- 42:41Speaker 1: Listen, I have you at number forty nine, I mean
- 42:44Speaker 1: I at Honestly, it's pretty good.
- 42:49Speaker 2: It's pretty good. Don't be so hard on yourself, man,
- 42:52Speaker 2: Thank you. You got a long career in front of me. Yes,
- 42:54Speaker 2: you do first things first five to six pm on fsival.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Check him out right there with his buddy Nick right
- 43:00Speaker 1: who only lets him off for an hour.
- 43:02Speaker 2: It's true, unless he's on vacation, then I got to
- 43:05Speaker 2: do the whole thing. You're way more loyal to him
- 43:08Speaker 2: than he is to you. My man, Hey, I get it, Roddy,
- 43:13Speaker 2: his coattails has got me this far.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Yes, he's a talented man. He's very good at a job.
- 43:18Speaker 1: So are you, Danny. We appreciate this. This was fun.
- 43:20Speaker 2: Thank you for doing it, man, Yeah, guys, thank you.
- 43:22Speaker 2: It was fun.
