Speaker 1: That was going on. This wrote me.
• 0:01
Speaker 2: Oh, we talked a little bit about kids playing outside,
• 0:04
Speaker 2: some of the things you did, the crazy things, the
• 0:06
Speaker 2: games you played with other neighborhood kids when it was summertime. Also,
• 0:09
Speaker 2: nice strangers. There's still a lot of nice people out there.
• 0:12
Speaker 2: So what is some of the nicest things that a
• 0:14
Speaker 2: stranger has done for you, or maybe you've done for
• 0:15
Speaker 2: a stranger. Let's say, Okay, just I'm gonna tell you
• 0:22
Speaker 2: guys a little etiquette. I think most of you guys
• 0:25
Speaker 2: know it, but one of my friends does not, okay,
• 0:32
Speaker 2: and so I had to explain it to him yesterday
• 0:35
Speaker 2: and he got a little pissed off.
• 0:36
  Speaker 1: He's actually a neighbor and a friend. But so I'm
• 0:41
  Speaker 1: in the.
• 0:41
Speaker 2: Garage yesterday about must have been about eleven, little after eleven.
• 0:45
Speaker 2: I had just gotten off, got to the house, to
• 0:48
Speaker 2: the shower, went out to the garage, and I was
• 0:51
Speaker 2: cleaning up my golf clubs, you know. So I was
• 0:53
Speaker 2: in the garage, cleaning my clubs, drinking a beer, not
• 0:57
Speaker 2: bothering nobody, listening to some music, doing nothing right in
• 1:01
Speaker 2: my own little world. Okay, one of my neighbors is
• 1:07
Speaker 2: coming back from the mailbox, see he's be in the garage,
• 1:09
Speaker 2: decides to stop, you know, actually came into the garage.
• 1:15
Speaker 2: She's doing wrong, cleaning my clubs? Having a beer? Let
• 1:19
  Speaker 2: me get you one. Oh No, I can't. I can't
• 1:24
Speaker 2: have a beer right now. You know it's too early.
• 1:26
  Speaker 2: I can't. I can't. It's eleven o'clock. I can't have
• 1:28
Speaker 2: a beer right now. I'm like, what are you working?
• 1:30
Speaker 1: What are you doing? Nothing? Guy's not doing nothing? Right?
• 1:34
Speaker 2: How rude is it for you to go to somebody's house,
• 1:38
Speaker 2: disturb what they're doing, and not have a beer.
• 1:43
Speaker 1: I mean he could have just as.
• 1:44
Speaker 2: Easily waved what I'm wrong, waved as he walked by
• 1:48
Speaker 2: with his mail. No, he had to go out of
• 1:50
Speaker 2: his way to come in my garage and not have
• 1:55
Speaker 2: a beer. I'm gonna tell you right now, that is
• 2:01
Speaker 2: about the rudest I even told him. I said, Bro,
• 2:03
Speaker 2: that's kind of rude. You're not gonna have a beer
• 2:05
Speaker 2: with me? Or when you walked into the garage. You
• 2:07
Speaker 2: see how I'm sitting here with a cold one, just
• 2:10
Speaker 2: wasting my you know, my morning. What you're not gonna
• 2:15
Speaker 2: sit and have a beer with me? No, I can't
• 2:16
Speaker 2: have a beer right now I got you know, it's
• 2:18
Speaker 2: one beer. You know I didn't offer you a line
• 2:22
Speaker 2: of coke. I offered you a beer in June in Bakersfield.
• 2:26
  Speaker 2: It's beautiful outside right now. I couldn't believe it. I
• 2:33
Speaker 2: had to tell him to leave, come back, come back
• 2:36
  Speaker 2: when you're ready.
• 2:37
Speaker 1: Just I can't with you right now. I mean, how
• 2:40
Speaker 1: rude is that If you go to somebody's house.
• 2:45
Speaker 2: For any reason, especially unannounced, and they offer you a beer,
• 2:50
Speaker 2: you better drink a beer with them?
• 2:52
Speaker 1: What is wrong with you? People? Already?
• 2:57
Speaker 2: Fourteen five four seven to seven. To be fair, though,
• 3:00
Speaker 2: he did come back later with a case of beer. So,
• 3:04
Speaker 2: but you can't do that, rah, if you going by
• 3:09
Speaker 2: somebody's house and you see that I was really what
• 3:13
Speaker 2: I was doing was listening to music, drinking beer, acting
• 3:15
Speaker 2: like I was doing something with my golf clubs. And
• 3:17
Speaker 2: then all of a sudden, if you're gonna come over
• 3:20
Speaker 2: and stop, you better have a beer. I don't care
• 3:23
Speaker 2: what you're doing. I don't care if you stopping buying
• 3:25
Speaker 2: your lunch break. I don't care if you stopping by
• 3:28
Speaker 2: because you're in the neighborhood doing something else you need.
• 3:31
Speaker 2: If you're gonna stop by and I offer you a beer,
• 3:35
Speaker 2: You better drink a damn beer. Alrighty four two, five,
• 3:39
Speaker 2: four or seven to seven, that's just rude. One of
• 3:43
Speaker 2: my buddies who's also a neighbor. I was in the
• 3:46
Speaker 2: garage having a beer. It's about eleven am. I was
• 3:49
Speaker 2: having a beer, listening to some music, cleaning my golf clubs.
• 3:52
Speaker 2: And he's coming back from the mailbox and he walks
• 3:55
  Speaker 2: into the garage.
• 3:55
Speaker 1: What's up, Row, What you doing? I said, I'm just
• 3:57
Speaker 1: sitting there having a beer. Let me grab you one.
• 3:59
Speaker 2: Oh no, no, no, no no. He says, it's too early.
• 4:02
Speaker 2: I told him to leave my house. You need to
• 4:04
Speaker 2: just go. You might as well sleep with my wife
• 4:07
Speaker 2: and kick my dog. If you go to turn down
• 4:10
Speaker 2: a beer in a garage anytime, that just means we're
• 4:13
Speaker 2: not friends anymore. Already four two five, four, seven to seven?

• 6:54
Speaker 1: just being a little baby.
• 6:56
Speaker 6: Oh man, come on if you know for sure he
• 6:59
Speaker 6: likes that beer. He was being a little weani.
• 7:00
Speaker 1: It's been my neighbor for ten years.
• 7:02
Speaker 3: I know what he likes.
• 7:03
Speaker 2: My God, to be perfectly honest with you, unless it's Corona,
• 7:09
Speaker 2: you should drink whatever beer they got, whatever beer you're offered.
• 7:13
Speaker 6: Yeah, that's true, because I turned down any beer offered
• 7:17
Speaker 6: that I don't like, and then I'll just go get
• 7:20
  Speaker 6: what I like.
• 7:21
Speaker 4: You know what I mean.
• 7:21
Speaker 2: No, it doesn't matter if you turn down a beer.
• 7:25
Speaker 2: That's just telling me that we're not friends anymore and
• 7:27
Speaker 2: you don't really like me.
• 7:28

Speaker 1: I when you turn down a beer for me, damn man.
• 7:34
Speaker 6: All right, well that reminds me never to turn down
• 7:37

• 7:41
Speaker 2: all these years. Yeah, I don't care, that's what that means.
• 7:47
Speaker 2: The worst thing you can do to your buddy who
• 7:50
Speaker 2: offers you a beer in a garage.
• 7:54
Speaker 1: Is tell him, no, we are not friends no more. Sorry,

• 8:37
Speaker 2: the rudest thing you could do. By the way, Big
• 8:40
Speaker 2: Boy said, he ain't never turning down the beer. I
• 8:41
Speaker 2: ain't never known Big Boy to turn down a beer. Yo.

Speaker 1: That must have been a white neighbor. Uh No, he's
• 8:46
  Speaker 1: a Mexican dude. He's a Mexican dude.
• 8:49
Speaker 2: Already four two, five, four or seven seventh, Good morning, Room.
• 8:52
Speaker 2: I would have had two beers with you. Apparently he
• 8:54
Speaker 2: was just being nosy.
• 8:55
Speaker 1: Yeah, I get that. But if you're gonna be nosy,
• 8:59
  Speaker 1: have a beer.
• 9:00
Speaker 2: That's about the rudest thing you can do to your friend,
• 9:03
Speaker 2: is turned down a beer, other than sleeping with his wife,
• 9:07
Speaker 2: who we're nofice going on?
• 9:09

Speaker 8: Yeah, they my day.
• 9:11
Speaker 14: I ain't been drinking since about the twelve, so my
• 9:13
Speaker 14: partners known me. So I turned down a beer just
• 9:16
Speaker 14: the other day, even with my nephews and him and
• 9:18
Speaker 14: I turned down certain drink and they actually respect it,
• 9:21
Speaker 14: even though everybody in my truck will do it because
• 9:23
Speaker 14: they know I don't need that because I've been making
• 9:25
Speaker 14: problems lady like got him with the zail like DUIs
• 9:28
Speaker 14: and all that. You feel me, so you gotta turn
• 9:31
  Speaker 14: it down?
• 9:32
Speaker 4: No, no, no, why I'm not.
• 9:35
Speaker 2: Saying you didn't have to turn it. What I'm saying
• 9:38
Speaker 2: is you shouldn't be showing up. Then, that's what I'm saying.
• 9:41
Speaker 1: If you like this, will you could have just waved
• 9:44
  Speaker 1: and said hi.
• 9:46
Speaker 2: You didn't need to come in my garage and say hi,
• 9:49
Speaker 2: because now you now you're in the middle of it.
• 9:51
Speaker 1: Now you're in the mix, okay.
• 9:54
Speaker 14: Is if he used to drink and he normally drink,
• 9:56
Speaker 14: he pulled up, So why you're gonna stop just all
• 9:58
Speaker 14: of a sudden because he don't drin you feel cool
• 10:01
  Speaker 14: with you?
• 10:01
  Speaker 4: Yeah?
• 10:02
Speaker 5: No me respectfully turn it down, explain it.
• 10:05
Speaker 1: Either no no, no, you're wrong, then you don't need
• 10:10
Speaker 1: to go. If we all drinking you don't need to.
• 10:11
Speaker 12: Show up, all right, I guess, so that's crazy.
• 10:16
Speaker 1: In actually, what I.
• 10:19
Speaker 2: Actually, what I'm saying is if you decide to see
• 10:21
Speaker 2: a rub because you can't handle it, and you're gonna
• 10:23
Speaker 2: be around a bunch of people, I get it. But
• 10:25
Speaker 2: if you're gonna come in my garage and I offer
• 10:27
Speaker 2: you a beer and you better take it or we
• 10:30
  Speaker 2: ain't friends, That's what I'm saying.
• 10:32
Speaker 1: This is a very unique situation.
• 10:34
Speaker 2: If I roll through you, if I roll through your
• 10:35
Speaker 2: house and you offer me something and I say no,
• 10:37
Speaker 2: like a beer or something like that.
• 10:39
Speaker 1: I mean I wasn't offering them, you know, tequila and coke.
• 10:42
Speaker 1: I just have a beer with me. I know we
• 10:44
Speaker 1: drinks because we drink together.
• 10:46
Speaker 14: I got to pull up with a nasty ass.
• 10:48
Speaker 8: But why is the zero zero?
• 10:52
  Speaker 12: Then I'm buying.
• 10:56
Speaker 2: If you drink zero, then you're really not invited, all right?
• 11:03
Speaker 2: Epoort two five, four or seven seven. I'm just saying
• 11:06
Speaker 2: we ain't friends no more.
• 11:07
  Speaker 13: All right.
• 11:07
Speaker 2: I'm just gonna tell you, as a friend, if you
• 11:10
Speaker 2: have good friends and they offer you a beer, you
• 11:13
  Speaker 2: better drink it.
• 11:14
Speaker 1: You better take it.
• 11:15
Speaker 2: Yesterday, my one of my neighbors, he was getting his
• 11:18
Speaker 2: mail right, And I'm sitting in the garage with says
• 11:20
Speaker 2: some music, drinking a beer two about eleven am, you know,
• 11:23
Speaker 2: cleaning my golf clubs, and this fool comes by walks
• 11:26
Speaker 2: in the garage. What you doing once you once you
• 11:29
Speaker 2: crossed that threshold into my garage, you're committed.
• 11:33
Speaker 1: Brouh, you're in. You're part of the fiasco at eleven am.
• 11:38
Speaker 2: Let me grab you a beer. Oh no, it's too early,
• 11:40
Speaker 2: you knowlah blah blah blah blah. Then get your ass
• 11:43
Speaker 2: out keep on walking, because that's about the rudest thing
• 11:48
Speaker 2: you can do is turn down a beer when you
• 11:49
Speaker 2: came in to what is beer drinking arenas on a
• 11:56
Speaker 2: beautiful day in Bakersfield? All right, e four two five
• 11:59
Speaker 2: four seven, Good morning?
• 12:00
Speaker 1: How what's going on?
• 12:01
Speaker 7: You're not wrong at all, Romeo. People feel that they
• 12:05
Speaker 7: don't understand it. It's the same thing as if somebody
• 12:09
Speaker 7: calls me and says, what are you up to it?
• 12:10
Speaker 7: I'm like, well, we're here at the bar having a
• 12:12
Speaker 7: couple of beers. I'm gonna stop buy. They stopped buy,
• 12:14
Speaker 7: and you're like you want a beer and they're like, no,
• 12:16
Speaker 7: what the hell you come by.
• 12:17
Speaker 1: The way, exact right.
• 12:21
Speaker 6: It's the same thing when people say what are you doing?
• 12:23
Speaker 7: I'm gonna thinking about going getting a bike or gooting
• 12:25
Speaker 7: some wings. Do you show up, You're like, oh, just
• 12:27
Speaker 7: have something to drink.
• 12:28
Speaker 9: I don't want to have no wings?
• 12:29
Speaker 11: And why to help you come.
• 12:33
  Speaker 4: Home?
• 12:33
Speaker 1: You should know your role. You have a responsibility as a.
• 12:38
Speaker 7: Why you're not hello dudes, that you're at home?
• 12:41
Speaker 13: You don't want to dream?
• 12:42
  Speaker 12: Right, that's it.
• 12:45
Speaker 1: That's exactly what you're saying. Bro, all right, exactly what
• 12:47
Speaker 1: you're saying. All right, man, thanks for calling a brother.
• 12:50
Speaker 1: All right, letter, That's what I'm saying.
• 12:52
Speaker 2: I mean, know your role as a friend, Okay, Like
• 12:56
Speaker 2: I have a friend that ninety nine zero point nine
• 13:00
Speaker 2: percent of the time if he's calling, I know what
• 13:04
Speaker 2: we get involved in, okay, And there's always gonna be
• 13:09
Speaker 2: a beer involved and I gotta be ready for that,
• 13:11
Speaker 2: or don't answer the phone, or don't go buy his house,
• 13:15
  Speaker 2: you know.
• 13:16
Speaker 1: Alrighty four two five to four seven seven yo. Romeo.
• 13:21
Speaker 2: Me and my wife are retired and sometimes we'll just
• 13:25
Speaker 2: sit out on the front porch.
• 13:26
  Speaker 1: She'll have a margarita, I'll have a beer.
• 13:29
Speaker 2: Our neighbors know not to come to the porch, or
• 13:32
Speaker 2: they're gonna be sitting there with us drinking, so you know,
• 13:36
Speaker 2: when they're ready to do they'll come and say hi
• 13:38
Speaker 2: on the porch, or they don't want to drink, they'll
• 13:41
Speaker 2: just walk by and wave and say hi from the sidewalk.
• 13:45
Speaker 2: That's what I'm talking about. My boy could have just
• 13:49
Speaker 2: kept rolling, he could have threw a hey roam, kept
• 13:52
Speaker 2: on walking, but he came into the garage and then
• 13:56
Speaker 2: turned down a beer. Now you're just being root to
• 14:00
Speaker 2: my face. This was kind of funny. Yesterday I was
• 14:04
Speaker 2: I was in the kitchen and I was doing some
• 14:05
Speaker 2: stuff and I heard some noise out in the front yard.
• 14:09
Speaker 1: So I walk over to the window.
• 14:10
Speaker 2: Now I have some trees in my front yard, and
• 14:12
Speaker 2: I look out there and there's a couple of kids
• 14:16
Speaker 2: hiding behind the trees in my front yard.
• 14:18
Speaker 1: And I couldn't figure. I'm like, what are these damn
• 14:20
  Speaker 1: kids doing?
• 14:21
Speaker 2: And then all of a sudden, here comes some kid
• 14:23
Speaker 2: on a bike hitting them with water boons.
• 14:26
Speaker 1: Drive by, water balloon, drive by.
• 14:27
Speaker 2: I was looking at going and then these two kids
• 14:30
Speaker 2: they jump out and they start throwing water balloons at
• 14:33
Speaker 2: these kids on bikes. And I thought, man, these kids
• 14:35
Speaker 2: are having a water balloon fight. Now, it's been a
• 14:38
Speaker 2: long time since I've seen one of those. It's been
• 14:40
Speaker 2: a long time since I've been involved in one of those.
• 14:43
Speaker 2: But I thought it was pretty impressive that these kids
• 14:47
Speaker 2: were out doing stuff together. Now, everybody plays video games
• 14:50
Speaker 2: and you're on your iPads and you're on TVs. And
• 14:53
Speaker 2: it was a hundred I think it was one hundred
• 14:54
Speaker 2: degrees yesterday, so kids are at their pools or you know,
• 14:58
Speaker 2: staying inside with the AC. But I thought, man, these
• 15:01
Speaker 2: kids are out there. They were just having a great time.
• 15:04
Speaker 2: And they must have been running around the whole neighborhood
• 15:08
Speaker 2: hiding everywhere because they were on bikes and they were
• 15:10
Speaker 2: on scooters and they were running around. But they were
• 15:13
Speaker 2: having a big old water balloon fight in the neighborhood.
• 15:16
Speaker 2: And I thought, wow, that's pretty cool. Because do you remember,
• 15:20
Speaker 2: I mean, long before there were even when you had AC,
• 15:25
Speaker 2: long before moms and dads used to kick you out
• 15:27
Speaker 2: the house. They would tell you to go leave because
• 15:29
Speaker 2: they didn't want you eating all their food. They didn't
• 15:30
Speaker 2: want you running up the electricity or the AC or
• 15:33
Speaker 2: whatever it may be. Or you just had nothing to
• 15:37
Speaker 2: do when you were at a home by yourself during summer,
• 15:41
Speaker 2: so you had to figure out what to do. So
• 15:42
Speaker 2: what you would do is you would go outside with
• 15:44
Speaker 2: the other kids in your neighborhood and you would play games.
• 15:47
Speaker 2: You would just you'd figure something out. I mean, to
• 15:50
Speaker 2: be honest with you, kids are fairly resilient. I mean,
• 15:54
Speaker 2: they will figure out what to do with each other
• 15:57
  Speaker 2: when they're bored.
• 15:59
  Speaker 1: They just will.
• 16:00
Speaker 2: Even if you took away all the iPads today in
• 16:03
Speaker 2: a neighborhood, take away all the iPads, all the iPhones,
• 16:06
Speaker 2: most I would I would venture to bet that these kids,
• 16:10
Speaker 2: they will be upset for about five minutes until they
• 16:13
Speaker 2: all realize that they need to figure out what to do,
• 16:16
Speaker 2: and they'll figure out something to do, good or bad.
• 16:20
Speaker 1: Hey, these kids rapping the water bill and fight. It
• 16:21
Speaker 1: was great. You remember you remember back in your hood.
• 16:24
Speaker 2: You remember the hood games you used to play eight
• 16:27
Speaker 2: four two five four or seven to seven.
• 16:28
Speaker 1: You'd always come up with something, all.
• 16:30
Speaker 2: Right, So we're talking about stupid tricks you did as
• 16:32
Speaker 2: a kid, or neighborhood games. You got together with your
• 16:35
Speaker 2: buddies and you would always, you know, you would do
• 16:38
Speaker 2: something dumb. You would either or you'd play some sort
• 16:41
Speaker 2: of neighborhood game to entertain yourself. Eight four two five
• 16:43
Speaker 2: four seven to seven, good morning.
• 16:45
Speaker 1: Not what's going on?
• 16:46
Speaker 4: And what I mean?
• 16:48
Speaker 11: So I remember back in the day, me and my
• 16:51
Speaker 11: idtle cousins and all the little homies.
• 16:53
  Speaker 5: On the block.
• 16:54
Speaker 7: We would we're on to ww F when wrestling was real.
• 16:57
Speaker 1: Yeah, it was real, okay, And.
• 17:02
Speaker 15: We used to play poop matches, so whenever a dog
• 17:05
Speaker 15: was poop in the grass, first one it lost.
• 17:10
  Speaker 16: Yeah.
• 17:10
Speaker 15: That was horrible, man, it was horrible.
• 17:13
  Speaker 17: It was.
• 17:14
  Speaker 7: It was.
• 17:15
Speaker 5: Yeah, there was knockouts outing.
• 17:17
Speaker 17: Just so whoever whoever that it was out, that's best growth.
• 17:22
Speaker 1: That's that's the alright, man, thanks for calling.
• 17:26
Speaker 2: Like I said, man, kids will do anything to entertain themselves.
• 17:30
Speaker 1: When you know, it was just you had to go outside.
• 17:33
Speaker 2: You had to find other kids to play within your neighborhood,
• 17:37
Speaker 2: and kids would just come up with the stupidest games
• 17:40
Speaker 2: and do the dumbest tricks. Just you know, how do
• 17:45
Speaker 2: you think, you know, how do you think a lot
• 17:49
Speaker 2: of these kids get hurt? A lot of these scars
• 17:51
Speaker 2: came from entertainment. That's what we had to do to
• 17:54
Speaker 2: entertain ourselves. Already four two, five, four or seven to seven?
• 17:57
Speaker 1: What kind of tricks? What kind of neighborhood games did
• 17:59
Speaker 1: you got? Ice play?
• 18:01
Speaker 2: And when I say neighborhood games, like what the guy
• 18:04
  Speaker 2: just said, they played w w F with Pooh. I
• 18:08
Speaker 2: never heard of that before. But that was a neighborhood game.
• 18:11
Speaker 2: You're talking about games, neighborhood games you played when you
• 18:14
  Speaker 2: were a kid?
• 18:14
Speaker 1: What help? What's up?
• 18:16
  Speaker 17: WHOA?
• 18:17
  Speaker 7: What?
• 18:17
  Speaker 6: I brother?
• 18:19
Speaker 12: Neighborhood game we had we called it was football. What
• 18:23
Speaker 12: we called it sideline bash. As long as you ran
• 18:27
Speaker 12: down the middle of a two hand touch, you ran
• 18:30
Speaker 12: to the to the sidewalk or whatever, you got hit,
• 18:33
Speaker 12: whatever you did whatever.
• 18:42
  Speaker 1: WHOA sure, d.
• 18:50
  Speaker 11: Man?
• 18:51
Speaker 1: Thanks for calling Lordy? That was going on?
• 18:56
Speaker 11: Hey, romany talking about the childhood game?
• 18:58
  Speaker 6: Yeah?
• 18:58
  Speaker 1: Whatever, man.
• 19:00
Speaker 11: So there used to be like ten of us.
• 19:02
Speaker 4: We all lived like two blocks from each other.
• 19:04
Speaker 11: We had the old you know, the power wheels, little
• 19:07
Speaker 11: four four wheel cars or whatever. Okay, dude, there'd be
• 19:11
Speaker 11: like six of us. We're all probably six or seven
• 19:14
Speaker 11: years old. You team up with your friend, he'd push
• 19:17
Speaker 11: you around. We had a little derby going on, sah it.
• 19:21
Speaker 15: We'd smash into each other.
• 19:22
Speaker 11: Bro We did it until our cars broke.
• 19:26
  Speaker 8: Man.
• 19:26
Speaker 11: We had these little beat up cars and have no
• 19:28
Speaker 11: batteries in them, and we just all got together.
• 19:32
Speaker 4: We just smashed into each other.
• 19:33
Speaker 11: You know, somebody pushed to you and you took turns.
• 19:36
  Speaker 17: Just like that.
• 19:37
Speaker 1: Oh man, that's great, man, that's.
• 19:39
Speaker 13: Great, dude. I never see those kids do that again
• 19:42
  Speaker 13: these days.
• 19:42
Speaker 1: Yeah, you vote all all right, man later.
• 19:46
Speaker 2: I mean, let's be honest when we talk about this stuff. Though,
• 19:49
Speaker 2: kids today will never do that stuff because they don't
• 19:51
Speaker 2: have to. I mean, back in the day before the internet,
• 19:56
Speaker 2: before the app laptop, our iPads and computer and all
• 20:00
Speaker 2: this stuff iPhones, before all of that, you.
• 20:03
Speaker 1: Had to entertain yourself.
• 20:05
Speaker 2: So you went and found a bunch of other kids
• 20:07
Speaker 2: in your neighborhood that had nothing else to do.
• 20:09
Speaker 1: And that's how you became friends. He became you think
• 20:13
  Speaker 1: about it.
• 20:14
Speaker 2: All the friends you have, for the most part now
• 20:17
Speaker 2: are because you were looking for other people, other kids
• 20:20
Speaker 2: that had nothing else to do, just like you, right
• 20:23
Speaker 2: you would. You might not be friends with them today
• 20:26
Speaker 2: because you know, you didn't have you. That's all we
• 20:29
Speaker 2: were doing is kids running around looking for other kids
• 20:31
Speaker 2: that had nothing else to do. So we could do
• 20:34
Speaker 2: nothing together or make up silly games to play already
• 20:37
Speaker 2: four two, five four or seven to seven?
• 20:40
Speaker 13: Romeo, how are you this morning, great brother?
• 20:42
Speaker 4: What's up well? Growing up?
• 20:45
  Speaker 12: Man?
• 20:45
Speaker 4: A lot of childhood games that I grew up playing
• 20:48
Speaker 4: with a few friends that I had until this.
• 20:51
Speaker 13: Day are still part of my life. One of them,
• 20:54
Speaker 13: we didn't have a lot of money. So one of them,
• 20:55
Speaker 13: what we used to do is we used to roll
• 20:57
Speaker 13: up a piece of paper, you know, you in order
• 20:59
Speaker 13: goone me and turn it into a dart. And what
• 21:02
Speaker 13: we would do is you grab you grab dirt, and
• 21:05
Speaker 13: you'd throw it inside and make it heavy.
• 21:07
Speaker 4: Right, and then you grab a paper tick that you
• 21:10
  Speaker 4: put at.
• 21:10
Speaker 13: The very tip right before you put the dirt so
• 21:13
Speaker 13: that it doesn't fall out, and you grab a rubber band,
• 21:15
Speaker 13: the sickest, hardest rubber band you can find, and you
• 21:19
Speaker 13: launch it in the air, and everybody stands in the circle,
• 21:23
  Speaker 13: head down, and.
• 21:24
Speaker 4: See whoever it hits. Mind you, it's people with dirt.
• 21:28
Speaker 13: It's not really going to hurt. It hit the back
• 21:30
Speaker 13: of your head until already uh decided to look up
• 21:33
Speaker 13: and we're like we're down. You know. It's one of
• 21:36
Speaker 13: those things if you're growing up in these Baker's fields,
• 21:38
Speaker 13: and you hear the words you're not down, oh my gosh,
• 21:41
Speaker 13: or double dog dare you you're gonna have to do it?
• 21:44
Speaker 4: So we all decide to look up. Well, it's already
• 21:47
Speaker 4: square in the eye O God.
• 21:49
Speaker 13: That to this day we call them bullseye already, or
• 21:52
Speaker 13: sometimes we'll call them pty.
• 21:56
  Speaker 6: Oh.
• 21:56
Speaker 1: That's hilarious to do all sorts of stuff.
• 22:00
Speaker 13: Man, if I can tell you real. Last one, we
• 22:02
Speaker 13: used to skate downhill. There's a street called Camino Brimaveda,
• 22:06
Speaker 13: and these bakers films. Uh, they dared me to ski
• 22:09
Speaker 13: a rollerblade downhill. I never rollerblade in my life. I
• 22:12
Speaker 13: didn't know how to stop. So as I'm going down,
• 22:16
Speaker 13: I'm about to reach College, which is a very busy street,
• 22:20
Speaker 13: I'm thinking the best thing for me to do, since
• 22:23
Speaker 13: I don't know how to stop on rollerblades, is to
• 22:25
Speaker 13: throw myself on one.
• 22:26
  Speaker 4: Of the lawns.
• 22:28
  Speaker 6: Well.
• 22:28
Speaker 4: Newton's law of physics is that a body emotion tends
• 22:32
  Speaker 4: to say emotion.
• 22:33
Speaker 13: Unless I could have found a greater force equals greater force.
• 22:35
  Speaker 15: We'll guess what.
• 22:37
Speaker 4: When I threw myself midair into the grass, I completely
• 22:42
Speaker 4: kept going mid air and missed the entiregrass area, landed
• 22:46
Speaker 4: on the driveway, and the pavement rolled a few times.
• 22:50
Speaker 13: Old man I was washing his lawn there just looked
• 22:54
Speaker 13: at me and he goes, man, you completely missed that high.
• 22:57
Speaker 1: Area we're talking about.
• 23:00
Speaker 2: As a kid, man before all this electronics, before video games,
• 23:05
Speaker 2: before anything that kept you in a house, everything you
• 23:09
Speaker 2: had to do was outside the house, which means you
• 23:11
Speaker 2: had to go out and find other kids like you
• 23:14
Speaker 2: who had nothing to do. And then that's how you
• 23:16
Speaker 2: made your friends in the neighborhood. And then after a
• 23:19
Speaker 2: while you'd start making up dumb neighborhood games, or you'd
• 23:23
  Speaker 2: make up.
• 23:23
Speaker 1: Stupid tricks to do.
• 23:24
Speaker 2: You know, everybody, lay down, Let's see how many how
• 23:28
Speaker 2: many kids we can jump over on our bikes?
• 23:30
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, have you done that already?
• 23:32
  Speaker 10: Four?
• 23:32
Speaker 1: Two, five, four, seven to seven? Hes going on? Put
• 23:39
  Speaker 1: up djo Hey.
• 23:40
Speaker 7: When I was little used to play this game, hine
• 23:45
Speaker 7: go gig heard No, what is it?
• 23:49
Speaker 3: A bunch of us girls and boys get together and
• 23:51
Speaker 3: play and we'd be crushing on each other, say we go.
• 23:55
Speaker 7: High and when they.
• 23:59
Speaker 1: Get it, I fat, Oh my god, what is wrong with.
• 24:08
  Speaker 15: That's great?
• 24:11
Speaker 1: Thanks? Alright, what suld play that game as adults?
• 24:18
Speaker 2: All right, hey, room, We used to play a game
• 24:20
Speaker 2: called the Black Widow where we where we would turn
• 24:24
Speaker 2: all the lights off in the room and just start
• 24:26
Speaker 2: fighting everyone in the dark, free for all rumbles in
• 24:30
  Speaker 2: the dark.
• 24:30
Speaker 1: Nice nice kids are so stupid? Oh my god?
• 24:36
Speaker 2: How did we survive? Eight four two, five four seven
• 24:39
Speaker 2: to seven? Kind of dumb neighborhood games? Did you play
• 24:41
Speaker 2: with your friends in the neighborhood? A? Stupid tricks you
• 24:43
  Speaker 2: would do?
• 24:43
Speaker 1: Good morning? How what's going on?
• 24:44
  Speaker 17: Hey?
• 24:45
  Speaker 6: Yeah?
• 24:46
  Speaker 3: About doorknob?
• 24:47
Speaker 11: Have you ever heard of doorknobs?
• 24:49
  Speaker 7: Dor?
• 24:49
  Speaker 4: No?
• 24:51
Speaker 7: So well you're right there with your with your friends
• 24:53
Speaker 7: or family members and you part they rush it would
• 24:57
Speaker 7: start beating you up until you set the doorknobs. We
• 24:59
Speaker 7: did that all the time.
• 25:08
Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what we do, man, So let's someone come
• 25:11
  Speaker 4: on rush them.
• 25:13
Speaker 1: That can be the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
• 25:17
  Speaker 7: Hell, all right.
• 25:19
Speaker 1: Man, thanks for calling. All right, door knob, let's play
• 25:23
Speaker 1: door knob? All right, Gordon, what's going on?
• 25:28
  Speaker 11: Hey?
• 25:28
  Speaker 8: What's up?
• 25:29
Speaker 15: Romeohy are you talking about the games we used to play?
• 25:32
  Speaker 5: Dumbest kids?
• 25:33
Speaker 15: Yeah, me and my home plays had a game we
• 25:35
Speaker 15: used to play. It's called B B bridges, So that
• 25:39
Speaker 15: means all of us to be together. And we're trying
• 25:42
Speaker 15: to use words without using the letter B. And then
• 25:45
Speaker 15: if you use the word beat, everybody just gets a
• 25:47
Speaker 15: punch on you until you say B B bridges.
• 25:55
Speaker 1: That might be the second and stupidest thing I've heard.
• 25:58
Speaker 15: If you said anything being and you forgot that we
• 26:02
Speaker 15: were playing baby, but everybody just wrap.
• 26:06
Speaker 2: Body all right, man, you guys are crazy. Man, thanks
• 26:13
Speaker 2: for college. And like slug bug, we used to play
• 26:16
Speaker 2: slug bug in the car, right. I don't think they
• 26:19
Speaker 2: play slug bug no more?
• 26:21
Speaker 9: Hey room, you remember the parachute little army man and
• 26:24
Speaker 9: he wrapped up and throw.
• 26:26
Speaker 18: Them in the err.
• 26:26
Speaker 9: And so we had a great idea to get our
• 26:30
Speaker 9: killing get up on top of the house. And then
• 26:36
Speaker 9: we wonder why our legs are all for it.
• 26:43
  Speaker 3: That's all herd.
• 26:45
Speaker 15: We went one, two, three, Boom, damn.
• 26:53
  Speaker 12: Un curry.
• 26:54
  Speaker 1: Wow, that's funny.
• 26:56
Speaker 9: Joe, try to jump the canal with my sister's buying.
• 27:00
Speaker 9: That didn't work out?
• 27:01
  Speaker 12: Well?
• 27:01
  Speaker 4: What canal.
• 27:03
Speaker 9: Over here by Panama and White Lane, there's a dirt canal,
• 27:08
Speaker 9: you know, and these kids had you know, back then,
• 27:10
Speaker 9: we would cut off the sisty bar and make it uh.
• 27:13
Speaker 9: And we had the knobby. There was a BMX bike,
• 27:16
Speaker 9: so you cut that off and did uh. These dudes
• 27:19
Speaker 9: were jumping it right, and they talk me into it.
• 27:21
Speaker 9: And I had my sister's bike. You know, dude, I
• 27:24
Speaker 9: landed the front. You know, they had the bars, would
• 27:27
  Speaker 9: flip for it.
• 27:28
Speaker 1: Oh dude, it was bad.
• 27:31
Speaker 9: I got the wind knocked out.
• 27:34
Speaker 2: I got to tell you, this show nothing stupider than
• 27:37
Speaker 2: when we lived on the reservation.
• 27:39
Speaker 1: We lived my house was on the bottom of a
• 27:42
  Speaker 1: hill and.
• 27:44
Speaker 2: It made a one at my house, it made a
• 27:46
Speaker 2: one eighty degree turn to go back down the hill.
• 27:49
Speaker 1: So you'd come you come down the hill, which was
• 27:51
Speaker 1: a steep, steamed incline right.
• 27:53
Speaker 2: Maybe about a quarter of a mile down, and it
• 27:57
Speaker 2: would you take that one and eighty degree turn to
• 28:00
Speaker 2: go and we would fund. We would come down that
• 28:02
Speaker 2: on our big wheels, on our green machines, on our skateboards,
• 28:06
Speaker 2: on our bikes, with no thought that there would be
• 28:09
Speaker 2: a car coming just to take us out.
• 28:10
Speaker 1: O my god, if you can come up, But if
• 28:18
Speaker 1: you could come up with some stupider than that, or
• 28:20
Speaker 1: more dangerous than that. I'd love to hear it all
• 28:26
Speaker 1: right later, man. And what made it worse? You got it?
• 28:31
Speaker 2: It was just a two lane road and when you'd
• 28:34
Speaker 2: come around that curve, when you'd come around that you
• 28:36
Speaker 2: know that you it was a if you fell off
• 28:41
Speaker 2: the road, it was a probably about a twenty foot drop,
• 28:47
Speaker 2: that's how high the road was before you drop down
• 28:50
Speaker 2: onto the ground. Uh, in front of my well side
• 28:53
Speaker 2: of my house. So yeah, it would be like for
• 28:56
Speaker 2: those of you that don't know, it would be like
• 28:58
Speaker 2: coming down I'm trying to think what the steepest, the
• 29:03
Speaker 2: steepest thing you guys can relate to. I don't There's
• 29:06
Speaker 2: not really anything too steep in Bakersfield. Maybe over there
• 29:09
Speaker 2: by the gun range at Heart Park, maybe that little trail.
• 29:13
Speaker 2: Maybe something steeper than that, but a lot longer. But yeah,
• 29:17
Speaker 2: I'm surprised none of us got killed. I can't believe
• 29:20
Speaker 2: we haven't died, that we didn't die coming down them
• 29:23
Speaker 2: coming down that road. All right, So what are we
• 29:25
Speaker 2: talking about here? In games we used to play, you know,
• 29:28
Speaker 2: as kids, stupid things we used to do at summertime.
• 29:31
Speaker 2: So it's a great time to do hood games.
• 29:34
Speaker 1: What do we got here? Let's see yo.
• 29:37
Speaker 2: Rome, when I was little had a prepaid phone, so
• 29:40
Speaker 2: when my mom would call us to go home, we
• 29:43
Speaker 2: had three minutes to hurry our butts home.
• 29:46
Speaker 1: That's the scariest game we used to play back then.
• 29:51
Speaker 1: That's pretty funny. That's kind of cool though.
• 29:54
Speaker 2: Rome, my street started a war with our neighbor streets
• 29:58
Speaker 2: using BB guns. They lasted all summer. I'm kind of
• 30:02
Speaker 2: surprised we didn't shoot an eye out. Wow, already four.
• 30:08
Speaker 1: Two boos, seven to seven? Uh, door knob was?
• 30:14
  Speaker 13: What is it?
• 30:15
  Speaker 3: Oh?
• 30:15
  Speaker 7: What?
• 30:15
Speaker 1: I don't know what door knob is? I never heard
• 30:17
Speaker 1: of that. You go ring the doorbell or I don't
• 30:20
Speaker 1: know what that is. I never heard of that.
• 30:22
Speaker 2: You know, when you were kids, man, especially the summertime
• 30:24
Speaker 2: before iPads and computers and iPhones, you used to have
• 30:28
Speaker 2: to go out and play. What kind of stupid things
• 30:30
Speaker 2: did you do? Or what kind of games did you play? Hey, room,
• 30:33
Speaker 2: this is seahawk, Lou, I remember when I was a kid.
• 30:36
Speaker 2: Uh word worlds play? Open chest is when their chest
• 30:42
Speaker 2: is not covered, they only have a shirt on, and
• 30:46
Speaker 2: you punch them in the chest and say open chest.
• 30:52
Speaker 1: Sounds like something stupid. They do in watco, doesn't it already?
• 30:56
Speaker 2: Four two bos seven to seven a roam. We used
• 30:59
Speaker 2: to play play play racers boxer. We get the kids
• 31:05
Speaker 2: in the block and we all race. Race the two
• 31:08
Speaker 2: that will last. Okay, you guys got to really read
• 31:12
Speaker 2: your text messages. Okay, on the block, we will race.
• 31:17
Speaker 1: The two that was last. Oh, the two that was last.
• 31:20
Speaker 2: We'll have to box with boxing gloves and whoever loses
• 31:24
Speaker 2: the match will be eliminated. Then when the match was over,
• 31:28
Speaker 2: we will race again until it's down to the last two.
• 31:33
Speaker 2: Sometimes I will lose on purpose just to box. Then
• 31:37
Speaker 2: we start racing with other blocks and we made tournaments
• 31:40
Speaker 2: of it. We had about four to five blocks where
• 31:44
Speaker 2: the kids anywhere from thirty to forty kids sometimes out
• 31:48
Speaker 2: there racing. Sometimes we will have the cops called on us,
• 31:52
Speaker 2: but they didn't do anything long as we had the
• 31:54
Speaker 2: boxing gloves on. Sometimes they would stay and watch. We
• 32:00
Speaker 2: got plenty of exercise and we learned.
• 32:02
Speaker 1: How to fight. Great.
• 32:05
Speaker 2: It sounds like a great game, So we're talking about
• 32:09
Speaker 2: some of those games used to play back in the day.
• 32:11
Speaker 1: The neighborhood kids. You guys would all get together.
• 32:13
Speaker 2: And try to entertain yourselves before you know technology came around.
• 32:18
Speaker 1: A four two or seven to seven yar roam.
• 32:21
Speaker 2: To keep it classic in Delano, we would like play basketball, football, boxing,
• 32:26
Speaker 2: all the classics till about ten to eleven at night
• 32:28
Speaker 2: in the street Heights. It was the best and when
• 32:32
Speaker 2: one parent would call the first kid inside, they would
• 32:35
Speaker 2: get clowned. But for custom games, we would play bike dodgeball.
• 32:42
Speaker 2: Have a few friends riding bikes in the street with
• 32:45
Speaker 2: other kids on each side of the sidewalk, two footballs
• 32:49
Speaker 2: hitting of the people on the bikes.
• 32:52
Speaker 1: Whoever, whoever hits the rider is now the rider. Fun times. Wow. Yeah, yeah, kids.
• 33:00
Speaker 2: Played some dangerous games, man, It was kind of funny.
• 33:03
Speaker 2: The kids would play some things where you can really
• 33:05
Speaker 2: get hurt Back in the day. Talking about the games
• 33:07
Speaker 2: we played when we were kids, man, we had to entertain,
• 33:10
Speaker 2: especially summer you were home all day.
• 33:12
  Speaker 1: Rome.
• 33:13
Speaker 2: I remember we play a game called suicide at the
• 33:15
Speaker 2: handball courts. For the life of me, I can't remember
• 33:18
Speaker 2: exactly how it went, but I remember it would be
• 33:21
Speaker 2: a group of us and the last person would end
• 33:23
Speaker 2: up getting jumped by everyone else, something to that effect.
• 33:28
Speaker 2: At least kids these days are all iPad babies. Well,
• 33:33
Speaker 2: why don't you take the iPads away from them? And
• 33:36
Speaker 2: then they have to figure out something else to do.
• 33:38
Speaker 2: So yesterday, when's the last time you had a stranger
• 33:42
Speaker 2: help you? Or maybe you'll help somebody. I was over
• 33:46
Speaker 2: in going by a store and I was coming out
• 33:50
Speaker 2: of the store and got in the car, and the
• 33:52
Speaker 2: sport girl, it looks like she was coming out of
• 33:54
Speaker 2: work one of the businesses that was in the shopping
• 33:56
Speaker 2: center I was at. And she's sitting there looking under
• 33:59
  Speaker 2: a hood, and I was thinking, I wonder what's wrong
• 34:01
Speaker 2: with that? And I'm not, by any means, no mechanic,
• 34:05
Speaker 2: by any means. I know very little about cars when
• 34:09
Speaker 2: it comes to fixing them or how to know what's
• 34:11
  Speaker 2: wrong with them.
• 34:12
Speaker 1: But nobody's helping her. It's one hundred degrees outside.
• 34:15
Speaker 2: This poor girl, her, she has her work uniform on
• 34:18
Speaker 2: and she's, you know, on her phone, I'm sure, trying
• 34:21
Speaker 2: to call somebody to help her. Doesn't know what's going on.
• 34:24
Speaker 2: So I thought, well, let me go see, let me
• 34:25
Speaker 2: just see. Maybe it's maybe I'll get lucky and it's
• 34:28
Speaker 2: just the battery. Because I do carry jumper cables with me,
• 34:31
Speaker 2: you know, And I thought, well, let me just drive
• 34:34
Speaker 2: by see if she wants some help.
• 34:36
  Speaker 1: Real nice lady.
• 34:37
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I think I think she thinks it's the
• 34:39
Speaker 2: battery goes at the battery, and that I was just guessing.
• 34:42
Speaker 2: So I pull out the jumper cables, get her going.
• 34:45
Speaker 1: She's on her way.
• 34:47
Speaker 2: Can't believe nobody helped her though all these big trucks,
• 34:50
Speaker 2: these work trucks, these guys and these uh you know,
• 34:53
Speaker 2: you could tell they were.
• 34:54
Speaker 1: All driving work trucks. I was at a at a bar.
• 34:57
Speaker 2: Restaurant, so the you could tell all the guys with
• 35:00
Speaker 2: for lunch. One of these guys tried to help this
• 35:02
Speaker 2: poor girl, right, I did.
• 35:04
  Speaker 1: Luckily.
• 35:05
Speaker 2: Luckily it was something simple, you know, just as hey,
• 35:09
Speaker 2: she needed to jump her battery was dead. At least
• 35:12
Speaker 2: get her on her way, get her home, get it
• 35:14
Speaker 2: taken care of. But what the hell's wrong with you?
• 35:16
  Speaker 1: Deeper man?
• 35:18
Speaker 2: When's the last time somebody actually helped you, or you
• 35:20
Speaker 2: actually help somebody just out of the kindness of your heart,
• 35:24
Speaker 2: you know, because it's.
• 35:26
Speaker 1: One hundred degrees outside.
• 35:28
Speaker 2: My God, nobody likes breaking down, or nobody likes being
• 35:31
Speaker 2: stranded or stuck, or it's just it's an awful feeling
• 35:35
Speaker 2: already four, two, five four or seven to seven.
• 35:37
Speaker 1: All right, I want to talk about strangers now.
• 35:39
Speaker 2: I want to talk about strangers and how strangers have
• 35:41
Speaker 2: done something good for you.
• 35:43
Speaker 1: Back in the day.
• 35:44
Speaker 2: Well, first of all, do strangers even do nice things
• 35:47
Speaker 2: for anybody anymore? People that you don't know do they
• 35:49
Speaker 2: do nice things for you? Do you do nice things
• 35:52
Speaker 2: for people that you don't know? Does that even happen anymore?
• 35:55
Speaker 2: With the world we live in? Right back in the day,
• 35:59
Speaker 2: I'm gonna tell you this because I'll never forget it.
• 36:01
Speaker 2: I was probably twelve, and we're going to Disneyland. Now,
• 36:04
Speaker 2: we're coming from Humboldt County from an Indian reservation. So
• 36:07
Speaker 2: we're driving from as close as you can to the
• 36:11
Speaker 2: tip of California to the bottom of California, right and
• 36:16
Speaker 2: we're coming down and we break down on the ninety nine.
• 36:18
Speaker 2: We break down right there by Wasco on the ninety nine.
• 36:23
Speaker 2: So tow truck comes, picks us up, takes us to Wasco.
• 36:26
Speaker 2: There's a mechanic takes us to a mechanic shop. The
• 36:28
Speaker 2: little old guy comes out says, you know what, I
• 36:31
Speaker 2: don't got the part to fix your car. Where you
• 36:33
Speaker 2: guys headed, We're heading to LA. Don't worry about it.
• 36:36
Speaker 1: He rigs it up. I can fix this.
• 36:38
Speaker 2: I can put this uses a you know, a toothpick,
• 36:40
Speaker 2: a bottle cap, and you know, a tin can. He
• 36:43
Speaker 2: puts it all together, fixes it force. They say, this
• 36:45
Speaker 2: will get you to La, okay, But when you get
• 36:47
Speaker 2: to LA, you're gonna have to get this part fixed right,
• 36:50
Speaker 2: And we're on our way. He didn't charge us any
• 36:53
Speaker 2: he didn't charge us for his time. He didn't charge
• 36:55
  Speaker 2: us for anything.
• 36:57
Speaker 1: He just fixed it.
• 36:59
Speaker 2: See that's a stranger doing something nice for a family,
• 37:01
Speaker 2: just trying to get to Disneyland.
• 37:04
  Speaker 17: Now.
• 37:04
Speaker 1: I don't know if people do that anymore, do they already?
• 37:07
  Speaker 7: Four?
• 37:07
Speaker 2: Two, five, four, seven or Seven's the last time? What's
• 37:10
Speaker 2: a nice thing of stranger's ever done? Or you've ever
• 37:12
Speaker 2: done for a stranger?
• 37:13
  Speaker 7: Hey?
• 37:14
  Speaker 6: What's up?
• 37:15
  Speaker 1: What's going on?
• 37:15
  Speaker 13: Man?
• 37:16
  Speaker 6: Hey?
• 37:16
Speaker 12: You know my cellphones?
• 37:17
Speaker 9: A lot of times I always used to get new
• 37:20
Speaker 9: ones because the chargers doesn't want to charge.
• 37:22
Speaker 5: You got to wiggle the wire.
• 37:23
Speaker 8: You gotta set something under the wire, you twist it.
• 37:26
Speaker 12: You get it to hold the charge. Well, I stopped
• 37:29
Speaker 12: right there at the Alberton shopping center, right there by
• 37:30
  Speaker 12: the house.
• 37:31
Speaker 8: And uh, there's a cell phone repair guy and I
• 37:34
Speaker 8: and I just happened.
• 37:35
Speaker 10: I just told hey, dude, like my phone doesn't want
• 37:37
Speaker 10: to charge it or something.
• 37:38
Speaker 8: He go, hey, let me hold let me get it
• 37:39
Speaker 8: real quick. Romie walks behind the wall and they take
• 37:41
Speaker 8: them about two minutes. Came back and he says, here
• 37:44
Speaker 8: they showed me that he charged it everything. And he goes,
• 37:46
Speaker 8: if it ever happens again, just come back by. I go,
• 37:49
Speaker 8: how much I owe you?
• 37:49
Speaker 17: He goes, you don't know me not to do?
• 37:52
Speaker 6: Oh man, So he saved me from having nobody you know,
• 37:54
Speaker 6: you know how many pulled that bones wrong?
• 37:56
  Speaker 4: That's nice.
• 37:57
Speaker 1: Another one that's awfully nice.
• 38:00
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 38:00
Speaker 12: So I hooked them up with a few things and
• 38:02
  Speaker 12: it's under.
• 38:02
Speaker 6: The watermelons are ready room.
• 38:04
Speaker 8: I'm gonna just throw by it, hook them up too,
• 38:06
Speaker 8: you know, because you know appreciate that.
• 38:08
Speaker 13: You know what I mean.
• 38:08
Speaker 8: It's not very many people in the droves anymore that
• 38:10
Speaker 8: want to do something just to do it from their heart.
• 38:12
Speaker 8: Everybody wants to book you.
• 38:14
Speaker 2: Yeah, everybody wants something or they want to post it
• 38:16
Speaker 2: on YouTube or or or social media to show how
• 38:20
  Speaker 2: nice they are.
• 38:20
Speaker 1: You're absolutely right about that.
• 38:23
Speaker 8: From their heart and whip away.
• 38:25
Speaker 5: They have to have some kind of show how of
• 38:27
Speaker 5: what they did to get there.
• 38:28
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, a bunch of clowns. Yeah, you're right, all.
• 38:33
  Speaker 11: Yeah.
• 38:34
Speaker 1: I mean that's that's how pathetic you are as a society.
• 38:36
Speaker 2: To be honest with you.
• 38:38
Speaker 1: I mean, you guys, you want credit for helping somebody,
• 38:40
  Speaker 1: for being nice?
• 38:42
  Speaker 4: You know?
• 38:43
  Speaker 1: All right?
• 38:44
  Speaker 7: Hey?
• 38:44
Speaker 2: Four two, five, four or seven to seven. When's the
• 38:46
Speaker 2: last time you help somebody or a stranger helps you?
• 38:50
Speaker 12: Rob here, I want to rob it's up, brother.
• 38:53
  Speaker 7: Hey.
• 38:53
Speaker 5: Just the other day, I was out and Kneba and.
• 38:56
Speaker 3: I was out there doing a job and I've seen his.
• 38:59
Speaker 5: Old man, you know, on the side of the road.
• 39:01
Speaker 3: Well, I was going down that street, so I pulled
• 39:02
Speaker 3: over and asked hy he was going on, because, oh,
• 39:05
Speaker 3: for some reason, my battery died and I said, oh, okay.
• 39:08
Speaker 5: So I went over there and.
• 39:08
Speaker 3: Looked at it, and the positive table was completely loose
• 39:12
Speaker 3: and corroated. So, you know, I banged it on the
• 39:13
Speaker 3: battery a couple of times and cleaned on the corrosion
• 39:15
Speaker 3: under it, put it back on their tankage, and I
• 39:18
Speaker 3: gave him a jump right. And at the time I'm
• 39:20
Speaker 3: looking Okay, I gets thro ready lunch time. So I said,
• 39:22
Speaker 3: all right, certainly you go, and he goes, oh yeah,
• 39:23
Speaker 3: I go, you're good man, have a good day.
• 39:25
  Speaker 7: Broke.
• 39:25
Speaker 5: So I got my truck.
• 39:26
Speaker 3: I drove down the street about twenty five feet, went
• 39:28
Speaker 3: to this top place, sit down and bordered. And then
• 39:31
Speaker 3: next you know, he comes in there and he he goes,
• 39:34
Speaker 3: he told the lady that got right there. He goes,
• 39:36
Speaker 3: whatever you want, I'm paying for it.
• 39:38
  Speaker 2: About it.
• 39:38
Speaker 12: Bless you like you bless me?
• 39:39
Speaker 3: And I think, oh, definitely surtsday. Yeah, I mean half
• 39:42
Speaker 3: to go, tie man, you showed that good faith brother
• 39:45
Speaker 3: a lot of people.
• 39:46
  Speaker 13: You know.
• 39:47
Speaker 1: Well, I'm gonna tell you guys.
• 39:48
  Speaker 13: I'll start.
• 39:49
Speaker 2: I'm gonna tell you guys something crazy. So last month
• 39:53
Speaker 2: I was, uh, I was driving down the street and
• 39:56
Speaker 2: there was a truck for sale, and I was thinking,
• 39:58
Speaker 2: you know, with us some pretty good looking truck. Let
• 39:59
Speaker 2: me all this guy see how what he.
• 40:01
  Speaker 1: Wants for it?
• 40:02
Speaker 2: And uh, the guy goes, uh, he calls me back
• 40:07
Speaker 2: and he goes, he tells me what he wants for it.
• 40:09
Speaker 1: He goes, well, come by and check it out. He goes.
• 40:11
Speaker 2: Me and the wife were just bar and he was
• 40:12
Speaker 2: an older guy, probably in his late sixties, maybe early seventies.
• 40:17
Speaker 1: And he's an older guy, and he goes, me and
• 40:18
Speaker 1: the wife were just barbecuing in the back. He goes,
• 40:20
Speaker 1: just come on back, we'll have some burgers. You check
• 40:23
Speaker 1: out the truck. We'll have some burgers. Said this guy was,
• 40:28
Speaker 1: you don't run into people like that anymore at all.
• 40:31
Speaker 1: You just don't run into people.
• 40:33
Speaker 3: It was funny they did.
• 40:39
Speaker 1: I couldn't afford the truck, but yeah, it was.
• 40:43
  Speaker 13: All right, Ralph.
• 40:44
Speaker 2: But you just you don't run into people like that anymore, right,
• 40:47
Speaker 2: I was just the guy calls me back. Me and
• 40:49
Speaker 2: the wife are barbecue. Just come by, look at the truck.
• 40:51
Speaker 2: We'll take up her spin.
• 40:52
Speaker 1: You can have a burger.
• 40:53
Speaker 2: Hang out for a minute, which is in the backyard.
• 40:55
Speaker 2: It was a beautiful day, so I did. I mean,
• 40:58
Speaker 2: the truck was a little more than I could afford.
• 40:59
Speaker 2: But he ended up selling him probably the next day
• 41:02
Speaker 2: or two hours later after I left.
• 41:04
Speaker 1: He went and he didn't have it very long.
• 41:05
Speaker 2: It was one of those you know sometimes for those
• 41:07
Speaker 2: of you that don't know, there are cars out there
• 41:09
  Speaker 2: that'll go immediately.
• 41:10
Speaker 1: People want them already. Four two five four seven to seven.
• 41:14
Speaker 2: But just a stranger being nice man stranger. Actually, Bakersfield
• 41:18
  Speaker 2: has got.
• 41:19
Speaker 1: A lot of nice people in it, a lot of
• 41:21
Speaker 1: nice people, all right.
• 41:22
Speaker 2: So I helped somebody out yesterday, just jumped their car,
• 41:26
Speaker 2: jump their their batteryom was dead, so I had to
• 41:28
Speaker 2: jumper cables in my truck.
• 41:29
Speaker 1: So I helped them out. But when's the last time
• 41:33
Speaker 1: you helped the stranger or was nice?
• 41:34
Speaker 2: When's the last time a stranger has done something nice
• 41:37
Speaker 2: or helped or maybe you're that person. You'd be surprised
• 41:41
Speaker 2: how many nice people there still are in this world.
• 41:44
Speaker 2: You just they met him yet already four two five,
• 41:46
Speaker 2: four seven to seven.
• 41:47
  Speaker 1: Good Morning Rome.
• 41:48
Speaker 2: During Christmas on a different radio station, they do cares
• 41:52
Speaker 2: for kids, or where you adopt the family and buy
• 41:55
Speaker 2: gifts for less fortunate. I adopted one and I didn't
• 41:58
Speaker 2: tell anybody I did it. I didn't do it for
• 42:02
Speaker 2: the praise. I did it because it makes me feel
• 42:04
Speaker 2: good and help people.
• 42:06
Speaker 1: Well, that's good. You should do that.
• 42:07
  Speaker 2: I mean, that's a great everybody. I mean, that's one
• 42:11
Speaker 2: of the other things. Everybody wants some sort of praise.
• 42:14
Speaker 1: For what they did.
• 42:15
Speaker 2: Maybe if you were just a good person and can
• 42:17
Speaker 2: look yourself in the mirror at the middle of the
• 42:18
Speaker 2: night and know you did it. You've done right by everybody.
• 42:22
Speaker 2: You wouldn't need some redemption on social media. That's the
• 42:25
Speaker 2: stupidity of you people who think that you think you
• 42:28
Speaker 2: do it for the right reasons, and then you put
• 42:30
Speaker 2: it on social media and you're just a moron.
• 42:32
Speaker 1: It's really all you are.
• 42:33
Speaker 2: Because you're doing it for yourself at that point, not
• 42:36
Speaker 2: for helping somebody else out.
• 42:38
Speaker 1: Already for two pop four seven seven, So what happened?
• 42:42
Speaker 2: When's the last time something you just did nice, something
• 42:44
Speaker 2: nice for somebody you know, or somebody's done something nice
• 42:48
Speaker 2: for you, you help somebody out?
• 42:50
Speaker 1: I mean already four two fop four or seven to seven?
• 42:54
Speaker 4: What's the wrong with glue? Man?
• 42:55
  Speaker 1: Put blue?
• 42:57
Speaker 6: Hey, so I did a nice thing yesterday.
• 42:59
  Speaker 4: Okay.
• 43:01
Speaker 7: It was a hot day, man, and I was walking
• 43:03
Speaker 7: over to the vending machine to.
• 43:05
Speaker 9: Buy a cold water for a dollar.
• 43:07
  Speaker 13: Right.
• 43:08
Speaker 7: Wait, what it was a hot day and I was
• 43:11
Speaker 7: walking over to the vending machine to.
• 43:13
Speaker 9: Buy a cold water for one dollar.
• 43:15
Speaker 4: Okay, And before I got to the vending machine, it's
• 43:19
Speaker 4: okay to ramp ast me and beat me to it.
• 43:23
Speaker 3: And he pulled out a bunch of change like quarters
• 43:26
Speaker 3: and dimes, okay, and.
• 43:29
Speaker 6: He was he was trying to get a gatorade for
• 43:31
  Speaker 6: two dollars.
• 43:32
  Speaker 1: Okay.
• 43:33
Speaker 6: I guess he only had one dollar and he didn't
• 43:36
Speaker 6: know what to do. And I looked at my wallet. Man,
• 43:40
Speaker 6: I only had one dollar cash, and.
• 43:42
Speaker 9: I gave it to the kids I could get a gatorade.
• 43:45
Speaker 4: And I suffered, and you suffered.
• 43:47
Speaker 1: You didn't get your water.
• 43:48
  Speaker 6: I didn't get my water for a dollar roll. I
• 43:52
Speaker 6: was going to be one of the nicest things in
• 43:54
  Speaker 6: the Vegas yesterday.
• 43:56
Speaker 1: What to sacrifice? Look at how nice?
• 44:02
Speaker 2: The how glue is huh? Already four two, seven and seven.
• 44:10
Speaker 2: It's the last time you did something nice for a stranger.
• 44:13
Speaker 2: And maybe somebody said something nice to you or for you.
• 44:16
Speaker 2: So we're talking about doing nice things for strangers. There's
• 44:18
Speaker 2: somebody doing something nice for you, helping you out, just
• 44:21
Speaker 2: out of the kindness of their heart.
• 44:22
  Speaker 1: Hey, roam.
• 44:23
Speaker 2: I work out in the oil fields and finished working
• 44:25
Speaker 2: a twelve hour day and was headed home back to Bakersfield.
• 44:28
Speaker 2: On Tapped Highway. I see an older man and a
• 44:30
Speaker 2: woman on the side of the road with a flat tire.
• 44:33
Speaker 2: Maybe you turn, maybe you turn it. Came back to
• 44:36
Speaker 2: see if they needed any help. Come to find out
• 44:39
Speaker 2: their car did not have a floor jack what I
• 44:42
Speaker 2: happened to have one, went ahead and changed the tire
• 44:46
Speaker 2: for them. The older man wanted to pay me, but
• 44:48
Speaker 2: I told him, no, just pay it forward.
• 44:50
Speaker 1: Well, I mean, nuts, what does that come to.
• 44:54
Speaker 2: But that's what life's come to, right, That's awfully nice
• 44:56
Speaker 2: of you to do that for somebody, because the world's
• 45:00
Speaker 2: to well, if I'm gonna help you, you gonna help me,
• 45:02
Speaker 2: or I'm gonna put it on social media, get some
• 45:04
Speaker 2: she gets some like, so people will I can get paid?
• 45:07
  Speaker 1: Yeah, nobody.
• 45:10
Speaker 2: But the bad part about it is what you see
• 45:14
Speaker 2: in the world is not the real world. I know
• 45:17
Speaker 2: so many nice people in Bakersfield that will do things
• 45:20
Speaker 2: for people just out of the kindness, just out of kindness.
• 45:25
Speaker 2: There are so many people here that I know that
• 45:27
Speaker 2: will help you out just because they're like that, you know.
• 45:31
Speaker 2: And it's funny because uh, Rubin and Ruben and Raider
• 45:35
Speaker 2: Rob always are there, even Raider Dave. These guys, these
• 45:37
Speaker 2: cats will all argue on the radio with each other.
• 45:40
Speaker 2: But man, the things they'll do for people just because
• 45:42
Speaker 2: they're good guys. Yeah for saying that, but just I've
• 45:47
Speaker 2: seen it happen with all of them, you know. But
• 45:49
Speaker 2: they'll all fight with each other all day long on
• 45:51
Speaker 2: the radio. They just they just don't like each other. Hey, Roan,
• 45:54
Speaker 2: what about stranger danger. I'm not asking kids to walk
• 45:57
Speaker 2: up to strangers. I'm talking about as a all, somebody
• 46:00
Speaker 2: helped you out that. You don't know, what's the nicest
• 46:03
Speaker 2: thing a stranger has done for you?
• 46:05
Speaker 1: Yeah, what's going on? What up? Man?
• 46:09
  Speaker 8: Hey?
• 46:09
Speaker 10: So yesterday I was at seven eleven and for some reason,
• 46:13
Speaker 10: my car didn't want to go through. I tried a
• 46:15
Speaker 10: couple of cards and their machine wasn't working right, So
• 46:17
Speaker 10: I had to leave a couple of breakfast talk with
• 46:19
Speaker 10: Minnesota Anyway. On my way out, some dude's like, hey,
• 46:23
Speaker 10: I'll pay for you, and I was like, are you sure.
• 46:25
Speaker 10: He's like yeah, some big, heavy set dude. His name
• 46:28
Speaker 10: was Leo, So Leo, if you're listening, thank you.
• 46:31
  Speaker 14: Anyway.
• 46:32
Speaker 10: Yeah, he paid for me, asked me what I did,
• 46:34
Speaker 10: And now I'm a school bus shop. We're dropping food
• 46:36
Speaker 10: off to the special needs kids. So they show me
• 46:38
Speaker 10: all my in my uniform though, he said Christmas came early.
• 46:42
Speaker 2: That's just karma right there. Yeah, hey, because I know
• 46:45
Speaker 2: a big dude named Leo. Did he look like he
• 46:50
Speaker 2: could be a bouncer at a club.
• 46:53
Speaker 10: Yeah, right, picker on the back of his on the
• 46:58
Speaker 10: back of his stuv sol here you go.
• 47:01
  Speaker 17: You know.
• 47:01
Speaker 2: You know what's funny is I'll pay for somebody's stuff
• 47:04
Speaker 2: in front of me. Just all the hurry up, guys,
• 47:07
Speaker 2: they're taking too long.
• 47:09
Speaker 4: Dude, put it on my pap.
• 47:10
Speaker 17: We could hurry up.
• 47:11
Speaker 2: Exactly, get out of because that'll be fumbling and for
• 47:13
Speaker 2: a couple of coffee.
• 47:14
Speaker 1: I'll be like, I got it, bro, Just move out
• 47:16
  Speaker 1: of my way.
• 47:16
Speaker 13: I gotta do some.
• 47:19
Speaker 1: All right, man, thanks for calling. That's what I'm saying.
• 47:22
Speaker 2: Do strangers still do things for do nice things to
• 47:25
Speaker 2: other for for other people? I guess they do already.
• 47:29
Speaker 2: Four two, five, four or seven seven? Like I said,
• 47:31
Speaker 2: what's the nicest thing the stranger's ever done for you?
• 47:34
Speaker 2: Or maybe you've done it? People still help out other
• 47:36
Speaker 2: people when they don't know them, Strangers helping strangers.
• 47:39
Speaker 1: What's the nicest thing anyone's done for you? Good morning? Helps?
• 47:44
  Speaker 1: What's going on?
• 47:45
Speaker 17: I heard the radio for like a nice stranger? To
• 47:48
Speaker 17: do for you guys.
• 47:49
  Speaker 1: Yeah, what's up?
• 47:50
Speaker 17: Nice stranger for me?
• 47:52
  Speaker 6: They did.
• 47:52
Speaker 17: They bought me a for my I lost a loved
• 47:55
Speaker 17: one before they they pay for my cross and for
• 47:58
Speaker 17: the last thir things came. I mean, I have a
• 48:01
Speaker 17: homeless smith for things giving, and I gave him a
• 48:04
Speaker 17: play for food and like he was homeless, and he
• 48:07
Speaker 17: was like asking for food, like I gave it to him,
• 48:11
Speaker 17: like like homeless food for him.
• 48:14
Speaker 11: Like for things giving, you gave him food.
• 48:16
Speaker 2: You gave him food. You didn't give him homeless food.
• 48:18
Speaker 2: You gave him food because he was homeless. Okay, all right,
• 48:20
Speaker 2: Well thanks for going.
• 48:21
  Speaker 1: Appreciate it.
• 48:22
  Speaker 13: Thank you.
• 48:23
Speaker 2: See it's nice to see that people are still doing
• 48:25
Speaker 2: stuff for people that don't.
• 48:26
Speaker 1: Know what's going on.
• 48:30
Speaker 19: So I have something that a stranger did for me
• 48:32
Speaker 19: that I was incredibly nice.
• 48:34
Speaker 2: Hold on, first of all, you're probably a hot chick,
• 48:36
Speaker 2: so guys do stuff for you all the time.
• 48:39
Speaker 18: No, this was I was on my way into Bakersfield
• 48:42
Speaker 18: and I don't know it very well, and my daughter
• 48:46
  Speaker 18: had a doctor's appointment at a hospital, and I got
• 48:50
Speaker 18: to what I thought was like the nearest area, and
• 48:52
Speaker 18: I rolled down my window and a couple next to
• 48:55
Speaker 18: me in the h at the stoplight, I said, hey,
• 48:59
Speaker 18: do you guys know where hospitals at a big favor
• 49:02
Speaker 18: and guide me there?
• 49:03
Speaker 19: And they say, yeah, no problems. So they got in
• 49:05
Speaker 19: front of me and they took these five or six
• 49:07
Speaker 19: miles and I ended up getting to her appointment on time.
• 49:10
Speaker 19: And I was incredibly grateful. I didn't know them and
• 49:13
Speaker 19: they were super sweet to help me out.
• 49:15
Speaker 2: That is nice because sometimes people's time. People are more
• 49:18
Speaker 2: stingy with their time than they are with money or
• 49:22
Speaker 2: you know things like that. That actually is extremely nice.
• 49:25
Speaker 19: Yeah, and I was so grateful. I was like, man,
• 49:27
Speaker 19: I wish I would have gotten her names or something, but.
• 49:30
Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, well thanks for calling. I appreciate it.
• 49:33
Speaker 6: Yeah, thanks all right?
• 49:34
Speaker 1: Four two five, four seven to seven. Yeah.
• 49:36
Speaker 2: So what's the nicest thing stranger's ever done for you?
• 49:39
Speaker 2: And I know that that that the couple leading her
• 49:42
Speaker 2: to the hospital seems a little silly, but a lot
• 49:44
Speaker 2: of people are very stingy with their time.
• 49:46
  Speaker 6: Man.
• 49:47
Speaker 1: They won't even give you good directions. They won't even
• 49:49
Speaker 1: take the time to give you directions, let alone drive
• 49:51
  Speaker 1: you there.
• 49:55
Speaker 5: I had a story when I was smaller and my
• 49:58
Speaker 5: brother was working in school and and I wanted to
• 50:02
  Speaker 5: look like a gay. I don't know what I want.
• 50:04
Speaker 5: I think I wanted the eating and uh he said, no,
• 50:07
Speaker 5: he's stingy. And uh, there was a person behind us.
• 50:12
Speaker 5: He was sharing the whole conversation like I really wanted
• 50:14
  Speaker 5: a deva.
• 50:14
Speaker 12: It was hi and everything.
• 50:16
Speaker 5: So my brother he said no, so I will row
• 50:19
Speaker 5: into the car. We did in the car and uh
• 50:23
Speaker 5: when from the other guy came out the when that
• 50:26
Speaker 5: was behind us, you want to bother me, my data age.
• 50:31
Speaker 5: He looked at my brother, you know, like he's like
• 50:35
Speaker 5: he didn't say nothing by like, but he's looking like, oh,
• 50:38
Speaker 5: you got to be stingy, you know, you just want
• 50:39
Speaker 5: the gathering. But walked on and I'm like, oh damn,
• 50:44
Speaker 5: that was like the nicest thing. Yeah, because that was
• 50:47
Speaker 5: a long time ago, all that and everything.
• 50:50
Speaker 2: I don't know if people still do nice things for
• 50:51
Speaker 2: everything anymore, just out of the kindness of the hardware.
• 50:54
Speaker 2: I think they do. I think they do.
• 50:55
Speaker 5: Yeah, I think they do.
• 50:57
  Speaker 4: I do.
• 50:57
Speaker 5: Sometimes I want to say a homeless person, I'm like,
• 51:00
Speaker 5: you know what, I don't want get them cash, but
• 51:01
Speaker 5: like I'll buy you something. Sometimes I'm just give it
• 51:05
Speaker 5: a cash and I'll buy myself.
• 51:07
Speaker 2: Speaking of home, Speaking of homeless, I was walking down
• 51:10
Speaker 2: of the gas station the other day and about three
• 51:13
Speaker 2: a SPEC's have been about three thirty in the morning
• 51:15
  Speaker 2: right over here.
• 51:16
Speaker 1: And the homeless guy asked me by a change for
• 51:18
  Speaker 1: a hundred What I said, No, I don't.
• 51:23
Speaker 2: I had to ask you to borrow money, all remember one,
• 51:28
Speaker 2: alrighty bot seven to seven. The problem is this when
• 51:33
Speaker 2: it comes to people doing nice things just because they're nice.
• 51:37
Speaker 1: People is nice. People don't want credit for it.
• 51:41
Speaker 2: Nice people don't put it on social media so you
• 51:43
Speaker 2: can see how nice they are. Only insecure losers do that,
• 51:47
Speaker 2: you know, And that's just why. Yeah, So that's why
• 51:52
Speaker 2: you don't think there's as many nice people in this
• 51:54
Speaker 2: world as there are.
• 51:54
Speaker 1: And there really are. There's a lot of great people
• 51:56
  Speaker 1: in Bakersfield that.
• 51:57
Speaker 2: You never know how nice they are, all right, because
• 52:00
Speaker 2: they're not filming it already four four or seven and seven,
• 52:04
Speaker 2: I would say. They guy remind me of a story
• 52:05
Speaker 2: about ten years ago. I was in was around Christmas time.
• 52:08
Speaker 2: About ten years ago, I was at a No, it
• 52:11
Speaker 2: had to be longer that Whe's the last time toys
• 52:13
Speaker 2: r rust existed. It was at a Toys r Rust
• 52:16
Speaker 2: so it must have been longer than ten years ago.
• 52:19
Speaker 2: You know, you get gift cards. This little girl had
• 52:21
Speaker 2: a twenty dollars gift card. And I'm standing in Toys
• 52:25
Speaker 2: r US and the little girl grabs his doll and
• 52:28
Speaker 2: it was like a Barbie or something. Nineteen ninety nine.
• 52:32
Speaker 2: Little girl's got a twenty dollars gift card. Mom tells her, well, no,
• 52:37
  Speaker 2: you don't.
• 52:37
  Speaker 1: Have enough tax.
• 52:38
Speaker 2: You gotta have enough for tax. It's gonna be more
• 52:40
Speaker 2: than twenty dollars. You gotta get something else. I thought
• 52:42
Speaker 2: to myself, you know what.
• 52:43
Speaker 1: So I was just standing there.
• 52:45
Speaker 2: I said, here, here's five bucks. I get the girl
• 52:47
Speaker 2: five bucks so she'd have enough to and the mom
• 52:50
  Speaker 2: lost her mind.
• 52:51
Speaker 1: Was so upset. No, she needs to learn. I'm like,
• 52:54
  Speaker 1: she's eight.
• 52:55
Speaker 2: She needs to learn about four dollars or three dollars
• 52:58
Speaker 2: whatever tax is. On nineteen ninety nine, however long ago,
• 53:03
Speaker 2: you know, I never had that conversation with you guys
• 53:06
Speaker 2: if it was right or wrong to do that.
• 53:08
Speaker 1: But screw that, Mom, be a better parent.
• 53:11
Speaker 2: But we were talking about doing nice things for people
• 53:13
Speaker 2: this morning, and one of the things I did a
• 53:16
Speaker 2: few years ago when Toys Arrest was open. A little girl,
• 53:18
Speaker 2: she could have been more than seven or eight. She
• 53:20
Speaker 2: had little twenty dollars gift cards she got for Christmas, right,
• 53:23
Speaker 2: and her mom was telling her, well, you can't buy
• 53:24
Speaker 2: that Barbie doll because that Barbie doll is nineteen ninety
• 53:26
Speaker 2: nine and there's going to be taxed. So I gave
• 53:28
Speaker 2: her five bucks, and the mom got pissed at me
• 53:30
Speaker 2: for doing that, and I thought, why are you being
• 53:32
Speaker 2: a jackass. She's just a little girl trying to spend
• 53:35
Speaker 2: her gift card. I mean, you can't cover the three
• 53:37
Speaker 2: dollars for the tax because you're her mom, And then
• 53:40
Speaker 2: you're gonna get mad at me for trying to be nice.
• 53:42
Speaker 1: Yeah, what's going on, Romeo?
• 53:44
Speaker 18: So you're talking about the lady.
• 53:46
Speaker 19: You know you wanted to little enough with girl her
• 53:49
Speaker 19: the five you know, the extra.
• 53:51
Speaker 7: Tax selling, Okay, So I think I think it's you're right,
• 53:55
Speaker 7: and also the mom's right.
• 53:57
Speaker 10: I mean, the little girl needs.
• 53:58
Speaker 1: To learn that there is no hold on slow down, mom,
• 54:01
  Speaker 1: not at eight.
• 54:03
Speaker 7: Well yeah, yes, but I also agree that you're in
• 54:06
  Speaker 7: the right.
• 54:07
Speaker 19: You need to know there are is kind people that
• 54:09
Speaker 19: you know out there soeteen, Ki's important because you know,
• 54:12
Speaker 19: money doesn't grow on street.
• 54:13
Speaker 17: They need to know those things too.
• 54:15
Speaker 1: Yeah, but not at eight years old. That the little
• 54:18
Speaker 1: girl couldn't have been more than seven or eight.
• 54:19
Speaker 18: What's that I thought my kids about tax dollars?
• 54:23
  Speaker 17: Like?

• 54:41
Speaker 2: and be oblivious to a bunch of nonsense in the world,
• 54:44
Speaker 2: and taxes is one of them.
• 54:46
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 54:46
  Speaker 19: I think that's a petty subject.
• 54:47
  Speaker 17: But maybe I don't know.
• 54:50
Speaker 19: All right, you talk my kids that and nothing's free.
• 54:53

• 55:02
Speaker 7: we don't want to put pressure on them.
• 55:03
Speaker 14: For the basic necessities.
• 55:06
Speaker 1: Yeah, you're a bad mom, all right, get out of here. Yeah, no,
• 55:12
Speaker 1: she sounds like a good mom. I'm just kidding with you.
• 55:15
  Speaker 1: But until about.
• 55:19
Speaker 2: A kid should be a kid and not worry about
• 55:22
Speaker 2: anything until about maybe fourteen fifteen maybe a yeah, that's
• 55:28
Speaker 2: maybe when you used to start teaching them about that
• 55:30
Speaker 2: life isn't free, but you don't do it at seven
• 55:32
Speaker 2: or eight. So years ago, there was a little girl

• 55:42
Speaker 2: The mom was, no, you can't buy that, you don't
• 55:45
Speaker 2: have enough money for the tax So I handed. I
• 55:47
Speaker 2: would just standing there hand to the girl five bucks.
• 55:49
Speaker 1: Mom got mad. I was just trying to be nice
• 55:51
Speaker 1: to the little girl. She could have been more than
• 55:53
Speaker 1: seven or eight, but I thought the mom was being
• 55:55
Speaker 1: a jackass. Good morning.
• 55:56
Speaker 9: I was going on, Hi, how are you doing.
• 56:03
Speaker 3: I'm doing good, I'm doing good, so long time listener.
• 56:07
Speaker 5: But I was gonna say, it was nice for you
• 56:12
Speaker 5: to give the girl the extra money for the taxes.
• 56:14
Speaker 7: But I'm just gonna let you know there's little.
• 56:17
Speaker 5: Kids out there like my daughter who.
• 56:19
Speaker 3: Knows she doesn't have enough money, and I'll try to buy.
• 56:22
Speaker 16: Stuff over what you have and tries to make me
• 56:25
Speaker 16: pay the red I'll sit there.
• 56:28
Speaker 5: And argue with her.
• 56:28
Speaker 17: And if somebody else comes in and says, hey.
• 56:30
Speaker 7: I'll give her the rest of the money.
• 56:32
Speaker 10: I'll let them wait.
• 56:33
  Speaker 4: How old?
• 56:34
Speaker 1: How old is your daughter?
• 56:35
  Speaker 7: She's eleven.
• 56:37
  Speaker 1: You're raised a straight hustler.
• 56:39
Speaker 11: Boy, she is a hustler.
• 56:42
Speaker 3: She's like, I'm gonna make sure my uncles never have
• 56:44
Speaker 3: kids so they can give me all their money.
• 56:50
Speaker 1: You got a little gold digger in the mess.
• 56:54
Speaker 3: It's just like her, mama.
• 57:00
Speaker 8: What's up from you?
• 57:01
  Speaker 7: What?
• 57:02
Speaker 3: I don't know if this counts, but what do you
• 57:04
  Speaker 3: call it?
• 57:06
Speaker 20: I had to stop at a gas station.
• 57:08
Speaker 16: And I went inside to go get, you know, get
• 57:10
Speaker 16: some stuff. And when I was walking in, I seen
• 57:13
Speaker 16: this guy. Man, this homeless guy was acting like all
• 57:15
Speaker 16: I whacked down and everything. So I went inside and
• 57:18
Speaker 16: when I was coming out, all of a sudden, this
• 57:21
Speaker 16: homelely guy started walks up to me and started acting
• 57:24
  Speaker 16: all crazy.
• 57:24
Speaker 20: I wanted to get into.
• 57:25
Speaker 4: A fight with me and everything.
• 57:27
  Speaker 5: One I don't know.
• 57:29
Speaker 20: And all of a sudden, these these two guys, big
• 57:33
Speaker 20: old guys come out of the store and they're like, hey, man,
• 57:36
Speaker 20: go ahead, homie, we got you. Yeah, And I'm like,
• 57:40
Speaker 20: all right, mass okank for me. I consider that somebody
• 57:45
Speaker 20: and I didn't even know these guys go to big guys.
• 57:51
  Speaker 1: That's funny, man, that's really funny. That's really good. That's
• 57:55
Speaker 1: really good. That was nice. That was nice of the
• 57:57
Speaker 1: guys to not let you get beat up by a
• 57:59
  Speaker 1: homeless guy.
• 58:00
Speaker 5: Yeah, this guy looked like out of his mind.
• 58:02
Speaker 1: And oh, that's awesome, man, thanks for calling. All right,
• 58:07
Speaker 1: man already four seven to seven.
• 58:13
Speaker 2: Oh what was I going to tell you about? I
• 58:16
Speaker 2: was thinking about a gas station story, and I just
• 58:18
Speaker 2: I just lost my train of thought.
• 58:19
  Speaker 1: Room.
• 58:20
Speaker 2: I was at the shell station on Stockdale and bought
• 58:23
Speaker 2: a homeless guy some snacks. M oh, you know what, um,
• 58:29
Speaker 2: And when he left, the cashier tells me he just
• 58:32
Speaker 2: got out of prison for trying to kill his mom,
• 58:34
  Speaker 2: his own mom.
• 58:35
Speaker 1: Oh my god, I gotta.
• 58:39
Speaker 2: Tell you a funny thing, another story. You guys can
• 58:41
Speaker 2: tell me if I'm wrong or not. I was at
• 58:44
Speaker 2: the gas station right here, grabbing a cup of coffee
• 58:47
Speaker 2: the other day. This could have been last week, or
• 58:50
Speaker 2: I mean, it could have been last month, but the
• 58:51
  Speaker 2: other day, and I grabbed a I grabbed a They
• 58:55
Speaker 2: sell the chicken strips, right, so I grabbed the I said,
• 58:58
Speaker 2: let me get a couple of chicken strips. I was hungry, right,
• 59:01
Speaker 2: So as I was leaving, another guy was walking in
• 59:07
Speaker 2: with the homeless guy who was standing in the front,
• 59:10
Speaker 2: and the guy was being real nice. He goes, man,
• 59:13
Speaker 2: you want a cup of coffee, get something to drink,
• 59:15
Speaker 2: you know, some water whatever, right, And as I was
• 59:18
Speaker 2: walking by, I just handed the homeless guy my food.
• 59:22
Speaker 2: I sit here, here's some food to go along with it.
• 59:24
Speaker 1: And I walked out.
• 59:25
Speaker 2: And then as I got in the car coming back
• 59:27
Speaker 2: to the station, I was thinking, did I just take that?
• 59:31
Speaker 2: Did I just steal that guy's niceness because he had
• 59:34
Speaker 2: already offered the homeless guy, you know, drinks. It didn't
• 59:37
Speaker 2: even occur to me. I just thought I was getting
• 59:39
Speaker 2: the guy drinks. Let me give him my food. I
• 59:41
Speaker 2: really didn't need the food. It was probably worked out
• 59:43
Speaker 2: better for me. But I mean I just thought that.
• 59:45
Speaker 2: I thought, did I just steal that guy's thunder by
• 59:48
Speaker 2: handing the homeless guy?
• 59:50
Speaker 1: I mean, I maybe I did. Hey, good morning Rome.
• 59:53
Speaker 1: I had a sweet experience at the grocery store.
• 59:55
Speaker 2: An elderly woman shopping with her caregiver, didn't have money,
• 59:59
Speaker 2: didn't have enough money for all her fruits and vegetables.
• 1:00:02
Speaker 1: She wanted, so she had to leave some behind.
• 1:00:05
Speaker 2: While she was bagging her groceries, I asked the cashier
• 1:00:08
Speaker 2: to go to add those items to my purchase. She
• 1:00:12
Speaker 2: was so grateful and I told her no thanks. I
• 1:00:14
Speaker 2: told her no thanks were needed, just enjoy them. See, yeah, yeah,
• 1:00:20
Speaker 2: that was nice of you.
• 1:00:21
  Speaker 1: Hey, Romeo.
• 1:00:22
Speaker 2: While the woman always got to try to defend each other,
• 1:00:26
Speaker 2: you was right to give that too young.
• 1:00:30
  Speaker 17: You was right.
• 1:00:30
Speaker 1: They're too young to learn about taxes.
• 1:00:32
Speaker 2: They didn't defend the lady with the bikini swimsuit from
• 1:00:36
Speaker 2: that out day, Oh yeah, from the other day. They
• 1:00:39
Speaker 2: defend each other, but at the same time hate on
• 1:00:42
Speaker 2: each other. Only in America. Laught, Well, that's just women
• 1:00:45
Speaker 2: in general. Women are gonna you know, that's just women
• 1:00:48
Speaker 2: in general. I know I was right.
• 1:00:50
Speaker 1: I know exactly how I'm right.
• 1:00:53
Speaker 2: A kid does not need to really to learn about
• 1:00:57
Speaker 2: the real real world until.
• 1:01:00
Speaker 1: Fourteen, maybe thirteen fourteen.
• 1:01:03
Speaker 2: Once they get into high school, you could start teaching,
• 1:01:06
Speaker 2: and I would even say about fifteen sixteen, that's when
• 1:01:08
Speaker 2: you start teaching about taxes and what life is really about.
• 1:01:12
Speaker 2: Kids do not need to talk politics because they're too
• 1:01:14
Speaker 2: stupid to understand. Hell ninety nine percent of you idiots
• 1:01:17
Speaker 2: shouldn't be talking politics because you're too uneducated to understand
• 1:01:20
Speaker 2: what's going on. They shouldn't be talking about I mean,
• 1:01:23
Speaker 2: they shouldn't be learning about taxes and things that you know,
• 1:01:26
Speaker 2: moms and dads are supposed to take care of in
• 1:01:29
  Speaker 2: the real world.
• 1:01:30
Speaker 1: Okay, so that's just and I know I'm right about that,
• 1:01:35
Speaker 1: but I appreciate you backing me up on that one. Hey,
• 1:01:37
Speaker 1: good morning, Rome. No right, you should have drop kicked
• 1:01:41
  Speaker 1: them all.
• 1:01:41
Speaker 2: What's wrong with these people trying to teach their child
• 1:01:45
  Speaker 2: about finances?
• 1:01:46
Speaker 1: A lot of people shouldn't have kids kids.
• 1:01:50
Speaker 2: A kid's responsibility should be do good in school and
• 1:01:53
Speaker 2: have fun. What else are they trying to teach your
• 1:01:56
Speaker 2: kids about the stock market, global politics? Shaking my head,
• 1:01:59
Speaker 2: you're right, lying, especially at seven or eight. I mean,
• 1:02:02
Speaker 2: you can start teaching your kids some of that stuff
• 1:02:04
Speaker 2: in their teen years, but not.
• 1:02:07
Speaker 1: Shit they under ten. Nah, man, you gotta they don't
• 1:02:11
Speaker 1: need to worry about that stuff.
• 1:02:13
Speaker 2: Hey, Rome, one morning, I was going to pump some
• 1:02:16
Speaker 2: gas at a MPM on Wheat Patch, and as I
• 1:02:18
Speaker 2: was about to pay at the pump, I seen the
• 1:02:21
Speaker 2: screen set select fuel, so I pumped and I got
• 1:02:24
Speaker 2: me a full tank.
• 1:02:26
Speaker 1: Thanks to hever did that was a blessing, well
• 1:02:31
  Speaker 17: Every morning morning,
