- 0:00Authoritarian states throughout history have understood
- 0:04intuitively the power of collective vibration and
- 0:08suggestion. Nazi Germany created a
- 0:11propaganda ministry that had as its goal continuously repeating
- 0:16certain key phrases to raise up specific emotions and sentiments
- 0:22and then to enforce them through the implicit bullying impact of
- 0:26their control. Both of the levers of power, the
- 0:30police power, the ability to spy and the ability to control one's
- 0:35livelihood, as well as through the street level bullying that
- 0:39occurred through aligned individuals and groups who use
- 0:43brute force, if not to obtain outright support for what they
- 0:48wanted to do, at least to suppress any objections out of
- 0:53fear of repercussions. The experience of Nazi Germany
- 0:57was however not unique and similar tactics have been used
- 1:02to harness the power of a collectivity to either modify or
- 1:05coerce the actions of individuals since true
- 1:09individuality, true independence from the collectivity and the
- 1:14society and environment is actually something of an
- 1:18illusory concept. In his book 1984, the author
- 1:23George Orwell described a ritual used to inculcate certain
- 1:27responses and reactions into the body of the citizenry through
- 1:32the use of the two-minute hate. Even mild mannered, thoughtful
- 1:38and considerate individuals found themselves caught up in
- 1:42the intensity of the moment and would react with rage and hatred
- 1:47on cue. In today's world, we see people
- 1:52being manipulated in this way through political discourse and
- 1:56social media. Some groups of individuals,
- 2:00generally a minority lacking strong political power, is
- 2:04chosen as the object of hatred, and they are then demonized,
- 2:09dehumanized, and made into objects of scorn and hatred,
- 2:14with a resultant uprising of rage and hate crimes that begin
- 2:18to tear apart the very fabric of society.
- 2:22This tends to break people into camps and opposing interests,
- 2:27and anyone who tries to either remain neutral or who tries to
- 2:31bring people together in a more reasonable manner is castigated
- 2:36and ostracized. Fear of losing their friends,
- 2:40their jobs, their involvement in their community.
- 2:43Many remain quiet and simply try to weather the storm, while
- 2:49some, more ambitious perhaps than others, choose one side or
- 2:53the other and engage in the battle.
- 2:58Underlying all of this is the fact that we are not separate
- 3:01islands of consciousness, but are receivers of vibrations and
- 3:06transmitters of vibrations, and we are thus subject to
- 3:10responding to intense vibratory patterns or even less intense
- 3:15but more persistent patterns that continually come to us in
- 3:20one form or another. In most instances, we may not
- 3:24even be consciously aware that we are absorbing and responding
- 3:28to certain vibrations. This lack of awareness is also
- 3:33an element used by those actively attempting to
- 3:36manipulate masses of people without anyone identifying the
- 3:40source of the manipulation. Suddenly it arises all around,
- 3:45on many sides, with many different voices and
- 3:49inflections, and we begin to slowly respond, to, adopt and
- 3:55then disseminate the vibrations that have infected us.
- 4:00It is the rare individual who can stand against this
- 4:03bombardment and hold to a different set of values and
- 4:06ideas in a society consumed with the need to conform to widely
- 4:12held beliefs and emotions in any societal grouping.
- 4:18Of course, not all such vibrational pattern developments
- 4:22are negative. That is why sages and spiritual
- 4:26leaders counsel the benefit of Satsang, the coming together of
- 4:30devotees to share the energy and experience of their spiritual
- 4:34development and thereby strengthen the aspiration, the
- 4:39consecration and the spiritual receptivity of all.
- 4:45While we may be able to identify these forces relatively easily
- 4:49when they are writ large in extreme ways in the society, we
- 4:54do not generally recognize that in fact, this is the normal
- 4:58process that makes up on a day in and day out basis the general
- 5:04way we develop our ideas, opinions, emotions and patterns,
- 5:11the Mother observes. Quote You must understand that
- 5:17you are not separate individualities, that life is a
- 5:21constant exchange of forces, of consciousnesses, of vibrations,
- 5:27of movements of all kinds. It is as in a crowd.
- 5:31You see, when everyone pushes, all go forward, and when all
- 5:35recede, everyone recedes. It is the same thing in the
- 5:39inner world. In your consciousness there are
- 5:42all the time forces and influences acting and reacting
- 5:46upon you. It is like a gas in the
- 5:49atmosphere and unless you are quite awake, these things enter
- 5:54into you. And it is only when they have
- 5:56gone well in and come out as if they came from you that you
- 6:01become aware of them. How many times people meet those
- 6:05who are nervous, angry, in a bad mood and themselves become
- 6:11nervous, angry, Moody, just like that, without quite knowing why?
- 6:19Why is it that when you play against certain people, you play
- 6:22very well, but when you play against others you cannot play?
- 6:27And those very quiet people, not at all wicked, who suddenly
- 6:32become furious when they are in a furious crowd and no one knows
- 6:37who has started it. It is something that went past
- 6:40and swept off the consciousness. There are people who can let out
- 6:45vibrations like this, and others respond without knowing why.
- 6:50Everything is like that, from the smallest to the biggest
- 6:55things. End Quote.
