- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, Pittsburgh, it's Pat from Tarpsoft Radio. Viewer discretion is advised,
- 0:05Speaker 1: and thanks for tuning in.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Here we go.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Sometimes we're drunk.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Sometimes we're stoned.
- 0:37Speaker 1: We're your Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 0:41Speaker 3: And it's time to take your tarps off, Pittsburgh. It's
- 0:46Speaker 3: your formerly Tuesday, now Wednesday morning, 8 a.m. spot on
- 0:49Speaker 3: Tarps Off Radio. I'm your host, McGinji. Beside me is
- 0:52Speaker 3: your co-host, Pat, intern producer Doobie behind the boards for us.
- 0:55Speaker 3: The Howard Aller showdown leads to the Steelers getting shut
- 0:58Speaker 3: out for the first time in 10 years. JPJ still
- 1:02Speaker 3: isn't signed nor practicing, and we quickly have another Thursday
- 1:05Speaker 3: night game ahead of us for the third weekday game
- 1:08Speaker 3: of the preseason. Pat, how are we feeling after that
- 1:11Speaker 3: L this week?
- 1:12Speaker 1: McJingy, my dick is as soft as a cashmere onesie
- 1:17Speaker 1: right now. All the blood is gone. It's bourbon night
- 1:21Speaker 1: at Pat's house, and I got a big old double
- 1:24Speaker 1: poured up.
- 1:25Speaker 3: You ever worn a cashmere onesie?
- 1:28Speaker 4: No.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Even a light breeze will make your dick hard wearing
- 1:31Speaker 3: something like that, Pat.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Yeah, well, that's how pissed. If this was a regular
- 1:36Speaker 1: season game, you'd be going for a wellness check. You'd
- 1:41Speaker 1: be asking the neighbors to stop by and knock on
- 1:43Speaker 1: my door.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Do you know when the last time we were shut
- 1:46Speaker 3: out in a regular season game was?
- 1:48Speaker 1: A regular season game? It's been a while. 2006.
- 1:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:53Speaker 3: It's been 20 years since we've been shut out in
- 1:55Speaker 3: a regular season game. Last time in a preseason game
- 1:59Speaker 3: was 2016. That 10 years ago, I was in college.
- 2:04Speaker 3: You were still, you know, in high school. It's been
- 2:07Speaker 3: a long time.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Yeah, you're making me feel old there, McJingy.
- 2:13Speaker 5: Wow.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Holy shit.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Good news, though, Pat. We have some shit to talk
- 2:22Speaker 3: on the Cleveland Browns because as bad as the Steelers
- 2:25Speaker 3: could have been this week, the Cleveland Browns are even worse.
- 2:29Speaker 3: And it's not really anything involving the on-field play. They
- 2:33Speaker 3: have that quarterback battle going on there between Deshaun and Shador.
- 2:37Speaker 3: They have officially announced Deshaun Watson as the week one
- 2:41Speaker 3: starter over Shador Sanders. Both terrible, terrible quarterbacks. But it's
- 2:47Speaker 3: really surprising coming after the Clips game. of Deshaun's post-game
- 2:51Speaker 3: presser the other week. Did you see those?
- 2:53Speaker 1: Yeah, dude. It's like, who are they going to go
- 2:55Speaker 1: with in Cleveland? The shit or the poop?
- 2:57Speaker 3: Here's Deshaun Watson's reaction to being booed by Cleveland fans
- 3:00Speaker 3: this week.
- 3:01Speaker 5: I think the whole world knows it has nothing to
- 3:04Speaker 5: do about the performance. It's a little bit personal than that,
- 3:08Speaker 5: so I think that's... It's a disrespectful thing. So, yeah,
- 3:13Speaker 5: I mean, I'm going to keep whatever I feel with
- 3:15Speaker 5: me and my family internally on how I feel about that.
- 3:19Speaker 1: And, yeah, just move on.
- 3:20Speaker 5: But don't you think, Deshaun, that winning and playing better
- 3:25Speaker 5: would eliminate.
- 3:27Speaker 4: Some of that bullying?
- 3:29Speaker 5: Last time I played on this field, I took my Achilles.
- 3:32Speaker 5: And that same fan base, they cheered.
- 3:34Speaker 1: When I got hurt.
- 3:37Speaker 2: So..
- 3:38Speaker 5: Does that have to do with anything about performance? When
- 3:43Speaker 5: a person gets hurt, especially for your own city, and
- 3:46Speaker 5: they cheer.
- 3:47Speaker 4: Does any of that make you regret coming here?
- 3:52Speaker 1: No, I don't regret anything in my life. That's a
- 3:57Speaker 1: bold statement.
- 3:59Speaker 3: That was the best clip, man. I was watching that
- 4:01Speaker 3: on TV as Amber walks in the room and she's
- 4:05Speaker 3: getting ready, putting her shoes on, whatever, and she hears...
- 4:08Speaker 3: I don't regret anything in my life. Her head turned
- 4:10Speaker 3: so fucking fast. She snapped, dude.
- 4:16Speaker 4: Not one regret.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Not one regret, Deshaun. I can think of 24 of them. Yeah, 26, 27. Oh,
- 4:27Speaker 3: my God. Right after that, he was named week one starter,
- 4:31Speaker 3: and then he came out after the fact with an
- 4:34Speaker 3: apology to the fans.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Let's hear how that went.
- 4:37Speaker 5: I want to address the comments from Saturday after the game.
- 4:41Speaker 1: You know, I.
- 4:44Speaker 5: Think just, you know, human nature, just myself being very emotional,
- 4:48Speaker 5: putting a lot of time these last two years to,
- 4:51Speaker 5: you know, get back and, you know, spend time in
- 4:54Speaker 5: this facility, in the city, meeting a lot of different
- 4:57Speaker 5: people in the community. I thought I was going to
- 5:02Speaker 5: get a little different response, but.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I think my emotions got the best of me.
- 5:10Speaker 5: My comments wasn't intending to go at any of the
- 5:13Speaker 5: fans around in the city. Because there's been a lot
- 5:17Speaker 5: of great fans that have been supporting me. And I
- 5:19Speaker 5: know the frustration this organization have put, you know, a
- 5:23Speaker 5: lot of investment in coming, you know, to get me
- 5:26Speaker 5: back in 22.
- 5:28Speaker 1: And things haven't been going the right direction that we
- 5:31Speaker 1: thought it was.
- 5:31Speaker 5: You know, a lot of injuries, a lot of time off,
- 5:34Speaker 5: and not putting the best football in my foot forward. So, again, just...
- 5:40Speaker 5: I understand the frustration. I understand everything that kind of
- 5:43Speaker 5: goes into that. And moving forward, I just want to
- 5:46Speaker 5: focus on football, making sure that I'm putting the best
- 5:49Speaker 5: product out there, having the best ability. Because I thrive
- 5:52Speaker 5: off the energy. I thrive off the energy of the fans.
- 5:54Speaker 5: I thrive off the energy of the community. I thrive
- 5:57Speaker 5: off all that stuff. I think looking back in my
- 6:00Speaker 5: history at Clemson and previous at the Houston organization, I
- 6:05Speaker 5: was a big fan. community guy, big city guy, big
- 6:08Speaker 5: fan guy, you know, during the game. So, you know, again,
- 6:12Speaker 5: my emotions got the best of me.
- 6:13Speaker 4: I'm human.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I take full responsibility of that.
- 6:17Speaker 5: And, you know, just moving forward, I want to make
- 6:19Speaker 5: sure that I put the best part up for the team,
- 6:20Speaker 5: for the organization, and for the city so we can
- 6:22Speaker 5: put a lot of wins and make sure that I
- 6:24Speaker 5: celebrate and put Cleveland on the map. You know, and
- 6:27Speaker 5: that's why I put the helmet on my head and
- 6:30Speaker 5: I put the uniform on my body is to go
- 6:32Speaker 5: out there and make sure I put my best foot forward.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Jeez, I mean, could it sound like any more bullshit?
- 6:39Speaker 3: After hearing that, Pat, I believe the victims.
- 6:43Speaker 1: I'll say that.
- 6:45Speaker 6: I've come around on the victims.
- 6:48Speaker 1: I believe women. I believe everything women say.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Women never lie, Pat.
- 6:53Speaker 1: No, no.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Absolutely not. A couple of things he said there that
- 6:57Speaker 3: really stuck out to me. One was in the first part,
- 7:00Speaker 3: he said, I'm going to keep everything I said in
- 7:04Speaker 3: between myself and my family and then immediately came out
- 7:08Speaker 3: and talked about how it pissed him off that they
- 7:10Speaker 3: booed him. And then the no regrets thing is just
- 7:13Speaker 3: absolutely hilarious when, you know, two days later you're apologizing.
- 7:18Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 7:18Speaker 1: I'm glad he finally found something to regret.
- 7:23Speaker 3: If I mean, did anyone really think that they were
- 7:26Speaker 3: going to start Shador this year?
- 7:29Speaker 1: You know, it's funny. I, first off, Instagram and Twitter
- 7:34Speaker 1: and all that, they got my algorithms all fucked up
- 7:37Speaker 1: because I hate watch so much Browns content that they
- 7:41Speaker 1: start putting pro Browns content on my feet thinking I'm
- 7:45Speaker 1: a fan.
- 7:45Speaker 3: What does that look like, Pat?
- 7:47Speaker 1: Because I interact with so much negative Browns content, right?
- 7:51Speaker 1: And it's so funny, dude. You're not going to start
- 7:55Speaker 1: a fifth round draft pick who was a pro bowler
- 8:00Speaker 1: in his rookie year because to Sean Watson, you gave
- 8:03Speaker 1: him all this guaranteed money. It's like, yeah, dude, he
- 8:06Speaker 1: was a pro bowler. Sure. That's like me, you know,
- 8:10Speaker 1: paying for sex and coming back from Vegas and, you know, bragging,
- 8:14Speaker 1: telling everybody how wet my dick got with leaving that
- 8:17Speaker 1: caveat out.
- 8:18Speaker 3: If you thought they would start Shador Sanders, I have
- 8:22Speaker 3: a cisgender straight white male bar in Lawrenceville to sell
- 8:27Speaker 3: to you.
- 8:29Speaker 1: I don't know what that means, but I like it.
- 8:31Speaker 3: There's a bunch of, yeah, I had to Google, I
- 8:35Speaker 3: had to Google liberal, dumb liberal words, dumb liberal adjectives.
- 8:39Speaker 1: I had to Google cause I don't know any.
- 8:43Speaker 6: I don't even know how.
- 8:44Speaker 3: To spell cisgender. I mean, realistically they should have kept
- 8:50Speaker 3: Kenny Pickett. He's a better quarterback than both Shadur and Deshaun. I, a.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Video came up to remember when, uh, This was one
- 9:02Speaker 1: of the last times he was on the field. There
- 9:05Speaker 1: was a fourth down. It was like fourth and like
- 9:07Speaker 1: three or something. And it looked like everybody on the
- 9:10Speaker 1: team was ready to go for it. Even Stefanski was
- 9:13Speaker 1: on the sideline looking at his play sheet. And Deshaun
- 9:16Speaker 1: just walked off the field. You remember that play? I
- 9:18Speaker 1: remember that. And Stefanski looks up, takes his headset off.
- 9:21Speaker 1: He's like, what the fuck are you doing? And even
- 9:23Speaker 1: the announcers were like.
- 9:24Speaker 6: Yeah, they might have gone for it if.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson hadn't walked off the field on that one.
- 9:32Speaker 3: That sounds like something Collinsworth would say.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Yes!
- 9:35Speaker 6: I know one quarterback in Kansas City who never would
- 9:41Speaker 6: have walked off on that one.
- 9:45Speaker 3: Deshaun Watson in his time as a Brown is 9-10,
- 9:48Speaker 3: 19 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. That's pretty good by Brown's standards.
- 9:56Speaker 3: That's really good by Brown's standards. I mean, no wonder
- 9:59Speaker 3: why they won. him as QB one up there. What
- 10:03Speaker 3: did Scherzer have last year? Just out of curiosity. I mean,
- 10:06Speaker 3: he was a pro bowler, so surely he could have,
- 10:09Speaker 3: he should have had numbers better than that, right?
- 10:12Speaker 1: Well, if he was a pro bowler, I mean, I
- 10:14Speaker 1: respect the pro bowl as much as anybody.
- 10:16Speaker 3: There's nothing like the pro bowl. I mean, that's really
- 10:19Speaker 3: where you get the best NFL talent at.
- 10:21Speaker 1: He had 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns, 10 interceptions, a 56%
- 10:28Speaker 1: completion percentage, and a 68.1 rating.
- 10:33Speaker 3: It is absolutely disgusting that they're benching this guy.
- 10:36Speaker 1: It's racist, really.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Man, you hit the hammer on the head.
- 10:41Speaker 6: That's what I do.
- 10:43Speaker 1: I fucking hit heads with hammers.
- 10:47Speaker 4: Oh, man.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Deshaun, I think his opinion on Cleveland changed a little
- 10:52Speaker 3: bit once he found out that they were doing $ 150
- 10:54Speaker 3: rubbing tugs about an hour south.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Yeah, dude. He didn't show up to practice yesterday.
- 11:02Speaker 3: You want to start with that story?
- 11:03Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaking of that, congrats to Jim Leahy of the
- 11:08Speaker 1: Sunnyvale Trailer Park on his first post-mortem arrest of a
- 11:15Speaker 1: powerful figure in 49ers– Owner, what's his name? Jason... Jed,
- 11:22Speaker 1: I think. It's something dumb. Yeah, yeah, Jed York. Let's
- 11:27Speaker 1: look at his net worth.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Yeah, you look at his net worth. $ 150 in a
- 11:32Speaker 3: trailer park.
- 11:35Speaker 6: In Ohio?
- 11:36Speaker 1: In East Palestine, Ohio?
- 11:38Speaker 6: What was he even doing there?
- 11:39Speaker 1: He was probably trying to make sure his fucking billionaire
- 11:43Speaker 1: buddies got through with their fucking..
- 11:46Speaker 3: Pollution they're poisoning do you think he flew in on
- 11:49Speaker 3: his private jet to like an airstrip around eight and
- 11:54Speaker 3: a half billion.
- 11:55Speaker 1: This is what happens when jeffrey epstein kills himself this
- 11:58Speaker 1: is what these billionaires have to do it's a fucking
- 12:01Speaker 1: shame they used to just be able to fly to
- 12:03Speaker 1: paradise get a quick hand job and go home they
- 12:07Speaker 1: have no idea how to pick up prostitutes now that
- 12:09Speaker 1: jeff epstein's dead.
- 12:11Speaker 3: They're resorting to trailer park trash they don't know what
- 12:13Speaker 3: to do they have no idea That's crazy. And we're
- 12:17Speaker 3: not going to say..
- 12:18Speaker 6: Someone's got to step up.
- 12:20Speaker 3: We're not going to say what kind of religion this
- 12:23Speaker 3: Jeb guy is. Yeah, we're not going to say.
- 12:30Speaker 1: You thought we were going to say. We're not going
- 12:32Speaker 1: to say.
- 12:36Speaker 3: I know Dub is fuming behind the boards back there.
- 12:39Speaker 4: Because I won't go in today.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Oh, man. Last thing on the docket before we move
- 12:51Speaker 3: on to actual Steeler talk is Joey Porter Jr.
- 12:54Speaker 1: And his contract.
- 12:56Speaker 3: He might not be a Steeler much longer. What do
- 12:58Speaker 3: you think, Pat?
- 12:59Speaker 6: Yeah, okay.
- 13:01Speaker 1: This whole thing's pissing me off, dude. This shit happens
- 13:04Speaker 1: every year with somebody. You know, they can't work out
- 13:07Speaker 1: a deal. Somebody's agent says something to somebody. Some fucking
- 13:11Speaker 1: douchebag Steeler insider somewhere. Teams are exploring options about it.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Joey Porter Jr. is going to get paid. He's going
- 13:19Speaker 1: to be a Steeler. I don't even feel like fucking
- 13:21Speaker 1: talking about it, dude.
- 13:23Speaker 3: No, I think it's only relevant now because now you
- 13:26Speaker 3: have Jalen. Well, before Jalen Ramsey had to speak up.
- 13:29Speaker 3: In defense for him, like he did last year for
- 13:32Speaker 3: Cam Hayward and his deal. Yeah. Which Cam got a
- 13:35Speaker 3: deal done about a.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Week before the season started. And it happened to TJ, too,
- 13:38Speaker 1: a few years ago as well. Jalen wasn't on the team,
- 13:41Speaker 1: but other players, you know, stepped up.
- 13:43Speaker 7: Yep.
- 13:44Speaker 3: But you clearly have the agents working as hard as
- 13:47Speaker 3: they possibly can. Putting out rumors like, you know, people
- 13:52Speaker 3: are calling in asking about Joey Porter Jr., putting out
- 13:56Speaker 3: rumors that saying he's allegedly going to be the highest
- 13:59Speaker 3: paid cornerback in the NFL. When that deal gets done,
- 14:03Speaker 3: I think this is really just Joey Porter senior coming
- 14:06Speaker 3: for the Steelers money and just trying to get every
- 14:09Speaker 3: last dime he can take from this organization.
- 14:12Speaker 1: A lot of it's going to be guaranteed money. I mean,
- 14:14Speaker 1: that's almost always the holdup. The Steelers don't like giving
- 14:18Speaker 1: guaranteed money pass, you know, first or second year contracts.
- 14:22Speaker 1: TJ Watt was a notable exception to that. And, That's
- 14:26Speaker 1: not really looking great right now, that deal with all
- 14:29Speaker 1: the guaranteed money. So, yeah, I think Joey Porter Jr.
- 14:32Speaker 3: I don't.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Think he's expecting to break the cornerback market per se. But,
- 14:40Speaker 1: you know, if they raise his salary and his total comp,
- 14:43Speaker 1: they're going to have to lower the guaranteed money. And
- 14:46Speaker 1: that's obviously something Joey Porter doesn't want to happen. I mean,
- 14:49Speaker 1: no NFL player wants that to happen. Well, allegedly, Pat.
- 14:53Speaker 3: And this is all agents.
- 14:54Speaker 1: This is all alleged.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Yeah, this is all the agents putting everything out. Allegedly,
- 15:01Speaker 3: the Steelers haven't even offered him a deal yet. Yeah,
- 15:04Speaker 3: I've heard that allegedly too. What a load of shit
- 15:07Speaker 3: that is, dude. You gotta sift through the bullshit on
- 15:11Speaker 3: the internet nowadays. And if you're too stupid to do that,
- 15:14Speaker 3: we can do it for you. Come to us. We're
- 15:17Speaker 3: the best shit shifters in the world.
- 15:20Speaker 1: I did find it funny that... I mean, nobody thought
- 15:25Speaker 1: Joey Porter Jr. was actually injured, but they asked him
- 15:28Speaker 1: a question. I think it was Monday, right, about Joey
- 15:32Speaker 1: Porter Jr. when he'll be back in the field. Mike
- 15:34Speaker 1: McCarthy didn't even address an injury. He went straight to
- 15:37Speaker 1: contract talk. It was like, yeah, I understand, you know,
- 15:40Speaker 1: the business side of football. Everybody's got to talk about
- 15:43Speaker 1: their contracts, this, that. It's like, isn't this guy technically
- 15:47Speaker 1: on paper having a back injury right now? Like, did
- 15:49Speaker 1: you forget that?
- 15:51Speaker 3: And I think as a Steeler fan, we've seen a lot.
- 15:54Speaker 3: We've seen more than our fair share of holdouts, hold-ins
- 15:58Speaker 3: over the last 10 years. I mean, going back to
- 16:00Speaker 3: Le'Veon Bell and, you know, how he took a full
- 16:04Speaker 3: year off. T.J. Watt, you know, back-to-back hold-ins from him
- 16:09Speaker 3: with contracts. And now JPJ.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Which one does this?
- 16:13Speaker 3: This one, let me answer my question with an answer
- 16:18Speaker 3: from myself. this one feels a lot more like the
- 16:22Speaker 3: TJ one, but I don't, I don't think it's as
- 16:26Speaker 3: clear cut and dry as the TJ one. Like to me,
- 16:29Speaker 3: I thought TJ was always going to sign. I thought
- 16:32Speaker 3: TJ had, you know, the one uniform guy in him,
- 16:37Speaker 3: a JPJ. He hasn't come out and said anything like
- 16:41Speaker 3: when TJ was going through his contract, he was constantly
- 16:44Speaker 3: talking about how he wants to be a one uniform guy,
- 16:47Speaker 3: how he's, you know, holding in, he's going to get
- 16:50Speaker 3: a deal done.
- 16:51Speaker 1: It's, it's kind of.
- 16:52Speaker 3: Been more towards the Le'Veon side from JPJ himself. I
- 17:01Speaker 3: still think a deal gets done. I don't think it
- 17:02Speaker 3: ends up like Le'Veon, but it doesn't seem as cushy
- 17:06Speaker 3: and as comfortable as the TJ Watt hold in was.
- 17:11Speaker 1: This is, it's not like the Cam Hayward conversation because the,
- 17:18Speaker 1: I mean, Cam was so vocal and it was so very,
- 17:20Speaker 1: you know, I got to feed my family or whatever
- 17:22Speaker 1: he said.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:23Speaker 3: I don't even think that was a real, like Cam
- 17:26Speaker 3: was getting paid or he was going to play, you know,
- 17:29Speaker 3: and we didn't even give much up for him.
- 17:31Speaker 1: It was more of a restructure issue.
- 17:34Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 17:34Speaker 1: And I'm looking at the timelines now. I mean, TJ
- 17:38Speaker 1: signed his last deal. Looks like it was in July
- 17:42Speaker 1: of 25. And prior to that, he signed one in,
- 17:45Speaker 1: early September of 21. So that's the hold.
- 17:50Speaker 3: In I'm talking about the, the one in 21.
- 17:53Speaker 1: These things can, can linger. I'd expect it to come
- 17:56Speaker 1: before the start of the season. So, I mean, yeah, listen,
- 18:00Speaker 1: I'm not worried about it. I think he'll get paid.
- 18:02Speaker 1: What do you think, what do you think is a
- 18:04Speaker 1: fair number for him in terms of like meeting in
- 18:07Speaker 1: the middle and just kind of where his value is?
- 18:11Speaker 3: Well, I don't honestly, I, I, I, It's a great
- 18:15Speaker 3: question because I flip between two sides of a coin.
- 18:18Speaker 3: One side says the cap is fake. Pay him whatever
- 18:21Speaker 3: he's asking. I don't care what the cap is, yada, yada, yada.
- 18:25Speaker 3: And the other side is I don't want him paid
- 18:31Speaker 3: as the top cornerback in the NFL. We already have
- 18:35Speaker 3: one of the highest paid players in the NFL on
- 18:37Speaker 3: this defense in TJY. I don't think we can afford
- 18:40Speaker 3: to make another mistake. but I probably lean more towards the,
- 18:47Speaker 3: you know, give them 30 million, call it a day.
- 18:49Speaker 3: Let's get this defense on the field, complete our cornerback
- 18:53Speaker 3: room and go from there.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, like I said, guaranteed money's really the
- 18:59Speaker 1: big question mark and that'll affect the cap in the
- 19:02Speaker 1: future more than anything. But throwing that out the window
- 19:06Speaker 1: and talking about average annual value I, I think 28
- 19:11Speaker 1: is a great number. I wouldn't, hate 30, especially where
- 19:16Speaker 1: the market's kind of headed now.
- 19:19Speaker 3: What's the difference between 28 and 30 then, Pat?
- 19:23Speaker 1: Pride? Literally nothing. You're asking me a good value, and
- 19:29Speaker 1: I think 28 is where I'd say.
- 19:31Speaker 3: I'm not saying from a JPJ perspective. I'm saying from
- 19:34Speaker 3: the Steelers' perspective, what is an extra $ 2 million?
- 19:38Speaker 1: Sure. They have to be farther off than that. Christian
- 19:41Speaker 1: Gonzalez still needs to sign his deal, and this was
- 19:45Speaker 1: back when, you know, earlier in the offseason. him and
- 19:51Speaker 1: Robert Kraft, I heard a conversation reported that Robert Kraft
- 19:55Speaker 1: was like expected to make him the highest paid cornerback
- 19:58Speaker 1: in the league. And then who was it? Witherspoon just
- 20:00Speaker 1: signed like a week or two ago. So, you know,
- 20:04Speaker 1: with that, with that record breaking contract. So, I mean,
- 20:07Speaker 1: the market's, Moving up, I don't see Joey Porter Jr.
- 20:11Speaker 1: even eclipsing, you know, 31, 32 million. I think 30
- 20:15Speaker 1: is about as high as the Steelers should be comfortable going.
- 20:19Speaker 1: But yeah, at the same time, those are just things
- 20:22Speaker 1: to consider. I mean, we still, let's get this deal
- 20:24Speaker 1: done now before we, you know, have some other quarterback
- 20:28Speaker 1: sign that could fuck the market up even further.
- 20:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 20:31Speaker 3: And a lot of people, all the boo birds for
- 20:33Speaker 3: Omar are, relevant online at this point saying how are
- 20:37Speaker 3: you giving backups you know 200 million dollars and letting
- 20:41Speaker 3: your number one corner not get a deal is that
- 20:45Speaker 3: a fair.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Criticism no no i don't think so at.
- 20:49Speaker 3: All okay i think it'll be a fair criticism if
- 20:52Speaker 3: a deal doesn't get done i mean we're talking about.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Nick herbig i mean the most valuable position on the
- 20:59Speaker 1: defense and a stud that's young that you want to
- 21:02Speaker 1: keep around when TJ Watt goes. We're talking about Keanu
- 21:05Speaker 1: Benton on the D line, who you're expected to help
- 21:09Speaker 1: replace Cam Hayward, who's, you know, has a very max
- 21:14Speaker 1: one year left this year, next year at the most. So, yeah,
- 21:17Speaker 1: I mean, you could say it's paying a backup, but
- 21:19Speaker 1: when those contracts are up in, you know, three, four years, it's,
- 21:23Speaker 1: it's not going to be the same.
- 21:24Speaker 3: So those guys aren't going to have the same time.
- 21:27Speaker 3: None of those guys are more valuable than JPJ.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Sure.
- 21:32Speaker 3: Whether they're a backup or not.
- 21:34Speaker 1: I think we've kind of beat this one to death.
- 21:36Speaker 1: I mean, it's going to get done. He's going to
- 21:38Speaker 1: get paid. You know, I don't want to waste any
- 21:39Speaker 1: more time talking about this, to be honest.
- 21:42Speaker 3: Moving on to the Jets. Jets 17, Steelers nothing. Like
- 21:47Speaker 3: we said earlier, first shutout in the preseason since 2016,
- 21:50Speaker 3: where we lost 17 to nothing to the Jets. Touchdowns
- 21:54Speaker 3: by Jelani Woods on a 13-yard pass from Geno Smith
- 21:58Speaker 3: on the opening drive.
- 21:59Speaker 1: And then 14 points in the fourth quarter.
- 22:01Speaker 3: We lose the fourth quarter 14 to nothing. Or, I'm sorry,
- 22:05Speaker 3: 10 to nothing. Quincy Skinner on a 31-yard pass from
- 22:09Speaker 3: Brady Cook late. And then a field goal also with
- 22:12Speaker 3: about seven minutes to go. What an absolutely brutal, brutal game, Pat.
- 22:18Speaker 3: I mean, we thought we were going into this one,
- 22:20Speaker 3: you know, Will Howard versus Drew Aller. Who's going to
- 22:22Speaker 3: be the better? Who's going to light up the scoreboard
- 22:25Speaker 3: a little bit more?
- 22:26Speaker 1: High hopes.
- 22:27Speaker 3: Both of them in the fucking toilet, Pat.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely. Excuse me. We have a studs and stiffs
- 22:38Speaker 1: to talk about kind of individual player performances, and we
- 22:41Speaker 1: can get in a quarterback play there. But just the
- 22:44Speaker 1: game in general, there really wasn't a lot of positives
- 22:48Speaker 1: to take away. It felt like we are riding high
- 22:51Speaker 1: on that first week of the preseason and everything kind
- 22:54Speaker 1: of came crashing down against the shitty Jets team. Yeah.
- 22:57Speaker 3: I think it was a nice gentle reminder that the
- 23:00Speaker 3: season's a roller coaster and not to get too highs
- 23:03Speaker 3: on the high, not to get too lows in the low.
- 23:05Speaker 1: However, this was, this.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Was, you know, one of the worst offensive performances I've
- 23:11Speaker 3: seen out of that Steeler team in all my years.
- 23:15Speaker 1: You were pretty pissed off about that first drive to right.
- 23:19Speaker 1: And letting Gino Smith march down the field. But, At
- 23:22Speaker 1: the same time, I mean, they essentially had their full offense.
- 23:26Speaker 1: They didn't have, was it Kenyon Sadiq, right, the tight end?
- 23:30Speaker 1: Doobie told us he was hurt, he wasn't playing, but
- 23:33Speaker 1: apart from that, they had pretty much their full-strength offense.
- 23:35Speaker 1: I think Brees Hall was out.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Too, right?
- 23:38Speaker 1: I think he had a minor injury, but the Steelers
- 23:41Speaker 1: were without, like, what, five players on their defense? They
- 23:44Speaker 1: didn't have TJ, Cam, obviously Joey Porter Jr. They didn't
- 23:49Speaker 1: have Jalen Ramsey, so I mean, there was plenty of talent,
- 23:53Speaker 1: really the top of the whole team, sitting on the
- 23:56Speaker 1: bench for that opening drive for the Jets.
- 23:58Speaker 3: Yeah, and Geno Smith, seven for seven. That was his
- 24:02Speaker 3: only drive. Not pressured. It just looked as calm, cool,
- 24:06Speaker 3: collected as it could be. Absolutely infuriating. Pat Graham actually
- 24:11Speaker 3: apologized after the game, saying that it's on him for
- 24:15Speaker 3: not having his team ready to play during the opening drive.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Yeah, sure, sure.
- 24:20Speaker 3: That was good to hear.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely.
- 24:23Speaker 3: Not like it makes a difference, but fuck, at least
- 24:25Speaker 3: someone's taking accountability.
- 24:28Speaker 1: I agree.
- 24:30Speaker 3: It's so weird judging this preseason, Pat. I mean, I
- 24:35Speaker 3: feel like I'm lingering on what they're saying too much,
- 24:40Speaker 3: and I'm not focusing enough on the results. But then
- 24:43Speaker 3: the results are like, it's only preseason, so how can
- 24:46Speaker 3: you judge them based on that? realistically, we're going to
- 24:49Speaker 3: have to get this ball rolling on the season here
- 24:51Speaker 3: before we know what type of.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Team we got. Yeah, and I would hope that the
- 24:55Speaker 1: majority of starters, I mean, guys like TJ and Cam
- 24:58Speaker 1: and Rodgers, I don't expect to play and I don't
- 25:02Speaker 1: want to play against the Bills, but we should be
- 25:04Speaker 1: given every starter that's suiting up a half, really, I think,
- 25:08Speaker 1: in this game against the Bills. Just treat that first
- 25:12Speaker 1: half as if it's an actual regular season game and
- 25:15Speaker 1: kind of go from there.
- 25:17Speaker 3: I hope they beat the fuck out of the Bills, too.
- 25:20Speaker 3: The last time we played Buffalo, if you don't remember, 70,000
- 25:24Speaker 3: people booed Renegade.
- 25:26Speaker 1: I remember.
- 25:27Speaker 3: And I know it's a preseason game, but my God.
- 25:30Speaker 1: My God.
- 25:33Speaker 3: I'm getting angry over here, Pat. I'm getting angry.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Well, let's get into our studs and stiffs, because I
- 25:38Speaker 1: think this will generate a. A lot of conversation here.
- 25:41Speaker 1: I was a little more liberal. Liberal, liberal, liberal with
- 25:45Speaker 1: my studs. Not that I had a lot to begin with.
- 25:49Speaker 1: But I think an obvious one, the only kind of
- 25:51Speaker 1: big diamond in the rough here, can Johnston look good?
- 25:56Speaker 3: Not only does he look good in the stat sheet, Pat,
- 25:59Speaker 3: but that ball flew off his foot. And the hang
- 26:01Speaker 3: time on that thing looked like a Russell Wilson moon ball, dude.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, we saw him a little bit too much.
- 26:08Speaker 1: He had six punts. Averaged 50 and a half yards.
- 26:11Speaker 1: I think he had one within the 10, right? I'll
- 26:15Speaker 1: have to look back at that.
- 26:16Speaker 7: Oh, yeah.
- 26:17Speaker 1: I should look stuff up before I just say stuff, huh?
- 26:21Speaker 3: No, it's okay. We don't speculate here.
- 26:24Speaker 1: No, we never have.
- 26:26Speaker 3: Never will. And let's remember, Corliss Waitman in 2024 set
- 26:32Speaker 3: the Steelers single season record for net punting average. Do
- 26:37Speaker 3: you remember what that number was, Pat?
- 26:39Speaker 1: Is it like 48 and a half?
- 26:41Speaker 6: 41.
- 26:43Speaker 3: 41.9 net yards per punt in 2024.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:49Speaker 3: So if Cam Johnston is any indicator of, if the
- 26:53Speaker 3: preseason is any indicator of what Cam Johnston can do,
- 26:56Speaker 3: look for a record-breaking year out of it. Yeah, I
- 27:00Speaker 3: had a.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Couple of other folks that I wanted to give a
- 27:03Speaker 1: stud designation to. I didn't have anyone, so take it away.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Jack Sawyer played a good game. He had a sack.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Just really showing that someone we drafted to be more
- 27:16Speaker 1: of a run stopper on the edge has been working
- 27:18Speaker 1: on his pass rush ability. So it's good to... These
- 27:21Speaker 1: are the things you look for in the preseason, McGingy,
- 27:23Speaker 1: is guys kind of getting out of their comfort zone
- 27:26Speaker 1: and picking up what they've kind of learned in the
- 27:28Speaker 1: offseason and putting it into practice. So that's why my studs...
- 27:32Speaker 1: If this is a regular season game, I probably wouldn't
- 27:34Speaker 1: have any studs. I certainly wouldn't have a horse stick, but...
- 27:37Speaker 1: these uh preseason games it's good to see stuff like
- 27:39Speaker 1: this yeah yeah why don't you give us the next
- 27:44Speaker 1: one yeah carson bruner as well he had a sack
- 27:47Speaker 1: he you know just seeing him do anything outside of
- 27:50Speaker 1: special teams is is a good look we know he's
- 27:52Speaker 1: a great special teamer um had a sack there so
- 27:55Speaker 1: i wanted to give him some flowers but uh one
- 27:58Speaker 1: horse dick.
- 28:00Speaker 3: Eight and a half inch dick you mean like a
- 28:02Speaker 3: horsey boner.
- 28:06Speaker 1: And I know you didn't agree with this. I know Doobie,
- 28:08Speaker 1: intern Doobie, wouldn't agree with this. He fucking hates this
- 28:11Speaker 1: guy for some reason.
- 28:12Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 28:13Speaker 1: I don't know what his motivation behind this is. Maybe
- 28:15Speaker 1: he can chime in. But Landon Roberts had a great drive.
- 28:20Speaker 1: It was that drive where he stopped the fourth down.
- 28:24Speaker 1: It was like fourth and three or fourth and five.
- 28:27Speaker 1: It was a short pass. And it looked like a
- 28:29Speaker 1: first down. Like I was up in the stands thinking, motherfucker.
- 28:33Speaker 1: And Alandon Roberts, boom, laid the boom. And McJunji, I know,
- 28:38Speaker 1: one drive, one play in the regular season won't make
- 28:41Speaker 1: a horse dick. But seeing him come back, wear the
- 28:44Speaker 1: black and gold, make a play down at Heinz Field,
- 28:47Speaker 1: it got me hard, McJunji. I'm not going to tell
- 28:49Speaker 1: you it didn't get me a little hard.
- 28:51Speaker 3: I'm glad it did, Pat, because I have nothing nice
- 28:53Speaker 3: to say about this team right now. So I'm glad
- 28:55Speaker 3: that you could muster up some courage and speak some
- 28:59Speaker 3: sense into my head.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Go ahead, InternTube. Tell us why you don't like Landon Roberts.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Listen, I just think he's not a modern linebacker. He's slow.
- 29:09Speaker 2: He can sometimes get a good tackle in the run game,
- 29:13Speaker 2: but he's getting burned every time in the pass game.
- 29:15Speaker 3: What did he bang your girl or something? Jesus Christ.
- 29:21Speaker 3: Let's not start talking shit on Landon Roberts, dude. He's
- 29:24Speaker 3: in the game for one reason, and it's to hit.
- 29:28Speaker 7: To fuck people up!
- 29:30Speaker 6: It's to fuck.
- 29:31Speaker 4: People in the ass!
- 29:34Speaker 2: If that's your thing, McGingy.
- 29:37Speaker 3: That's probably why you don't like them, you homophobe.
- 29:45Speaker 4: Oh, man.
- 29:46Speaker 3: Can we move on to the stiffs?
- 29:48Speaker 1: We got a lot of stiffs. I got a lot
- 29:49Speaker 1: of stiffs.
- 29:49Speaker 3: Ryan and Rick was handing out samples down at Ironsfield
- 29:53Speaker 3: on the bench.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Why don't we start.
- 29:55Speaker 3: With the O-line? Why don't we start with the O-line?
- 29:57Speaker 3: Why don't we start with the O-line that I've been
- 30:00Speaker 3: gaslit for the last three years into people telling me
- 30:03Speaker 3: that this is a quality and it's a good O-line.
- 30:06Speaker 1: It's not.
- 30:07Speaker 3: It's not. And I'm thinking the same way with Roman
- 30:10Speaker 3: Wilson that I'm thinking about the O-line now until I
- 30:13Speaker 3: see something. Until I see something, I'm not letting anyone
- 30:17Speaker 3: tell me that this is a quality offensive line. It's
- 30:19Speaker 3: been three years now. You, Aircraft, every other jabroni in
- 30:24Speaker 3: the world saying that the Steelers have a good O-line.
- 30:26Speaker 3: Steelers have a good O-line. The Steelers don't have a
- 30:29Speaker 3: good O-line. And it's been two preseason games now where.
- 30:32Speaker 4: They've been abysmal. Abysmal. Unplayable.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Absolutely unplayable.
- 30:40Speaker 1: What do you think I think about the O-line? What
- 30:43Speaker 1: do you, like, What do you think my thoughts are?
- 30:46Speaker 3: If you want me to dig up some clips from
- 30:48Speaker 3: last year's show.
- 30:50Speaker 1: We can go there. Oh, my gosh. Pats. Pats. Pats.
- 30:57Speaker 8: Are we still sucking off Dylan Cook? Are we still
- 30:59Speaker 8: sucking off Dylan Cook?
- 31:00Speaker 6: Let's have this discussion.
- 31:01Speaker 3: Are we still sucking off Spencer Anderson?
- 31:04Speaker 4: I don't. I'm not.
- 31:05Speaker 1: What are you talking about? You're gaslighting me.
- 31:07Speaker 8: Are we still sucking off McCormick? Are we still sucking
- 31:11Speaker 8: off McCormick? Are we still sucking off Fontanou?
- 31:14Speaker 1: You don't even know who you're talking to right now, McGinji.
- 31:17Speaker 4: Listen.
- 31:18Speaker 6: You want me to talk?
- 31:19Speaker 4: I'll talk.
- 31:19Speaker 1: Shut your fucking fat pie hole for a minute.
- 31:22Speaker 3: Keep defending this O-line.
- 31:23Speaker 1: This O-line, and I've been this offseason, I've been consistent
- 31:28Speaker 1: with this take, is going to get a lot worse
- 31:31Speaker 1: before it gets a lot better, and it's going to
- 31:33Speaker 1: have to. I mean, you drafted, first off, you drafted
- 31:38Speaker 1: a guy in Max Ahonacher who shows a lot of promise.
- 31:41Speaker 3: He's going to be the best offensive lineman.
- 31:43Speaker 1: No, he's not.
- 31:44Speaker 3: Yes, he will.
- 31:45Speaker 1: No, he's not.
- 31:46Speaker 3: He's a week one starter.
- 31:47Speaker 1: He should be. He's not. All right. You're being ridiculous.
- 31:52Speaker 1: Let me finish, though. Back when I was young, you know,
- 31:56Speaker 1: I'd clean my room. My parents would always say, sometimes
- 31:59Speaker 1: it's got to get worse before it gets better. You know,
- 32:01Speaker 1: we throw a bunch of shit in this corner, throw
- 32:04Speaker 1: a bunch of shit in that corner. After 10, 15 minutes,
- 32:06Speaker 1: you're like, this looks fucking worse than we started. But
- 32:09Speaker 1: sometimes to get better, to make improvements, McGinji, you got
- 32:13Speaker 1: to get a little messy first, okay? We have Troy
- 32:15Speaker 1: Faltano switching sides. You know, we expected to be a
- 32:19Speaker 1: little smoother of a transition. Turns out it hasn't been
- 32:22Speaker 1: perfect yet. We have a guard in McCormick, fourth-round pick,
- 32:27Speaker 1: switching sides. We have Spencer Anderson, who has never really
- 32:31Speaker 1: been a starter in his career, moving in. We have
- 32:34Speaker 1: Dylan Cook, who's switching sides. We're expecting somebody that came
- 32:37Speaker 1: from Iowa– And I think the hopes for our Iowa
- 32:41Speaker 1: boy were a little too high in Jennings Stonker. I
- 32:43Speaker 1: know mine were. I didn't think he'd be a start
- 32:45Speaker 1: out of the gate, but I figured maybe towards the
- 32:47Speaker 1: end of the season we could put him in the lineup.
- 32:49Speaker 1: I don't know if that's going to happen now, but
- 32:51Speaker 1: that's okay. He's coming from a run-heavy college offense to
- 32:54Speaker 1: a pass-heavy NFL offense. And, yeah, Broderick Jones barely even
- 32:59Speaker 1: made it back on the field. He looked like absolute
- 33:01Speaker 1: dog shit. What I'm trying to say is we have
- 33:04Speaker 1: a young offensive line. We had to make some moves.
- 33:07Speaker 1: We had to move some people around this year. And
- 33:10Speaker 1: it's going to get worse before it gets better. This
- 33:12Speaker 1: is going to be a worse offensive line week one
- 33:16Speaker 1: than it was in that playoff game that we.
- 33:18Speaker 3: Saw against the Texans last year. But I think by
- 33:21Speaker 3: the end of this season, McGinji will be in a
- 33:24Speaker 3: better spot than we were at the end of last season.
- 33:27Speaker 3: Interesting take. I have one for you. If Dylan Cook
- 33:33Speaker 3: is the starter week one, this team is fucking doomed.
- 33:37Speaker 4: Doomed.
- 33:38Speaker 6: He's terrible.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Who else is going to start?
- 33:40Speaker 7: Max.
- 33:41Speaker 1: He's not ready, McG.
- 33:42Speaker 4: He's back.
- 33:43Speaker 1: He's back. He's had two padded practices, McG. You're delusional.
- 33:48Speaker 3: I'm not putting an undrafted stiff out there just because
- 33:52Speaker 3: our first round pick hasn't practiced as much.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Who's an undrafted stiff?
- 33:56Speaker 3: Dylan Cook.
- 33:57Speaker 1: The guy who came in last season and was one
- 34:00Speaker 1: of the better tackles in the league.
- 34:02Speaker 3: That's what we hear.
- 34:03Speaker 8: That's exactly what I'm talking about, Pat. That great offensive line.
- 34:07Speaker 8: He was serviceable from the left side.
- 34:10Speaker 6: He was good.
- 34:11Speaker 3: He was serviceable from the left side.
- 34:13Speaker 1: You're the guy who wants to fucking play Dungeons and
- 34:16Speaker 1: Dragons football and fucking move everyone around on the line
- 34:19Speaker 1: like it's no big fucking deal.
- 34:21Speaker 7: Oh, yeah.
- 34:22Speaker 3: I just want to play players where they played in college.
- 34:24Speaker 3: That's really no big deal at all, huh? That's really
- 34:27Speaker 3: Dungeons and Dragons football, asking a player to play a
- 34:30Speaker 3: position he played for four years in college.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Left tackle in college for a left-handed quarterback is right
- 34:34Speaker 1: tackle for a right-handed quarterback.
- 34:36Speaker 3: That means nothing, dude. The footwork is the same whether
- 34:39Speaker 3: your quarterback is left-handed or right-handed. Yeah, but your handedness
- 34:43Speaker 3: as a quarterback changes nothing. Changes nothing about the instructional part.
- 34:49Speaker 4: Of the game.
- 34:51Speaker 1: The actual footwork, yes, that doesn't change. But what you're
- 34:54Speaker 1: being asked to do when you're on a quarterback's blind
- 34:57Speaker 1: side is being different than when you're a right tackle
- 35:00Speaker 1: for a right-handed quarterback and you're expected to be a
- 35:03Speaker 1: downhill blocker, a run blocker versus a heavy pass blocker,
- 35:08Speaker 1: making sure the quarterback's blind side is protected. Those are
- 35:10Speaker 1: two different assignments.
- 35:12Speaker 6: Here's an assignment block. Do your job.
- 35:17Speaker 1: It's not hard. I'm not hard right now, Mick Gingy.
- 35:21Speaker 1: I'm trying to get hard. I think by the end
- 35:23Speaker 1: of the year, I will be hard. I'm not hard.
- 35:26Speaker 1: Speaking of not being hard, tell me about another stiff
- 35:31Speaker 1: that I think you know who I'm talking about.
- 35:34Speaker 3: Roman Wilson. Yeah, Roman Wilson. I was out on him
- 35:38Speaker 3: last week, officially, before all this, before the two passes
- 35:43Speaker 3: by Will Howard that he drifted on the route on
- 35:46Speaker 3: for an interception.
- 35:47Speaker 1: I was out on him.
- 35:49Speaker 3: Before Fabi, before Uncle Andy call in and talk about
- 35:54Speaker 3: Roman Wilson, before Geronimo Mills calls in and says that
- 35:57Speaker 3: we need to bet Roman Wilson touchdown every game like
- 36:00Speaker 3: the third world stooge he is, Roman Wilson is done, dude.
- 36:05Speaker 3: I'm out. Out on him. It's time to stop believing
- 36:11Speaker 3: the hype from a guy who has never done anything
- 36:14Speaker 3: in between the lines when the whistle is blown.
- 36:17Speaker 4: I agree.
- 36:19Speaker 1: I was fooled for about three, four weeks because he
- 36:22Speaker 1: was getting so much work in training camp and all
- 36:25Speaker 1: the reports were glowing. And, you know, from the nerds,
- 36:29Speaker 1: from the nerds. And I realized like a back of
- 36:32Speaker 1: my original take when we drafted him, I said he
- 36:35Speaker 1: was he was too small. I said he he was,
- 36:40Speaker 1: you know, his attention to detail wasn't there. His only
- 36:43Speaker 1: real assets are his speed, and in college it was
- 36:46Speaker 1: his route running. He's not a great route runner now.
- 36:48Speaker 1: In fact, he's a bad route runner. He obviously still
- 36:51Speaker 1: has his speed, but he's got basically no physical measurables. And, yeah,
- 36:56Speaker 1: I mean, I'm kind of– I let the Stooges fool me.
- 37:00Speaker 1: I feel like an idiot, but I'm back on my
- 37:03Speaker 1: original take here.
- 37:04Speaker 3: Never change your take, Pat. That's lesson one in having takes.
- 37:10Speaker 3: Take your take to the grave. Nope.
- 37:12Speaker 1: Not me. I'm fluid, as Mike Tonley would say. I
- 37:15Speaker 1: am fluid. Call me the cum king of takes.
- 37:17Speaker 3: Gender fluid, Pat. Congrats.
- 37:20Speaker 1: Why don't you tell us about your boy in the
- 37:22Speaker 1: stiff category, Swift or Wet Jet?
- 37:27Speaker 3: Another fumble.
- 37:29Speaker 1: I'm sure it hurts.
- 37:31Speaker 3: Another fumble. It's tough to see.
- 37:33Speaker 1: It's the preseason, Pat. Let's not overreact. You got to
- 37:36Speaker 1: stick to your take. I respect it. You just lectured me,
- 37:39Speaker 1: so now you have to stick to your take. I'm sticking.
- 37:41Speaker 4: I mean..
- 37:42Speaker 3: Am I about to judge this guy off of two
- 37:47Speaker 3: preseason games early in his career? No.
- 37:50Speaker 1: No, I'm not.
- 37:51Speaker 3: Swiffer's got a long career as a Pittsburgh Steeler ahead
- 37:55Speaker 3: of him. And maybe if he could get some quality
- 37:58Speaker 3: special teamers ahead of him, he wouldn't.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Have guys hitting him at the 10-yard line.
- 38:03Speaker 6: I mean, come on.
- 38:05Speaker 1: That's true. If that guy was blocked, he never would
- 38:07Speaker 1: have caused a fumble out of bounds that– That Pat
- 38:10Speaker 1: was all over in the stands, by the way.
- 38:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, he's got a good family. You know,
- 38:15Speaker 3: we've met his family two games now.
- 38:17Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Met is a strong word.
- 38:20Speaker 3: What do you mean?
- 38:21Speaker 1: I mean, you yelled at him walking past in the
- 38:25Speaker 1: stands twice, and they turned around and looked at you
- 38:27Speaker 1: and waved. Yeah, dude.
- 38:29Speaker 4: That's the class.
- 38:30Speaker 6: You didn't have dinner with him. You didn't shake his
- 38:32Speaker 6: dad's hand.
- 38:34Speaker 3: Do you want me to go shake his dad's hand?
- 38:37Speaker 3: Do I have to?
- 38:38Speaker 6: No, I don't.
- 38:39Speaker 1: In fact, please don't.
- 38:42Speaker 3: Swiffer. I just had to let them know that that's
- 38:45Speaker 3: my guy.
- 38:46Speaker 7: All right.
- 38:46Speaker 3: And I had to let them feel welcome in the city.
- 38:50Speaker 3: And that the whole city is behind this guy. And
- 38:53Speaker 3: if he returns that opening kick, we week one, I
- 38:56Speaker 3: am a rich man. I might bet on Swiffer wet
- 39:00Speaker 3: jet to have the first touchdown of the the one
- 39:04Speaker 3: o'clock Sunday slate opening week.
- 39:07Speaker 1: Do you feel, put your feelings aside. Do you feel
- 39:12Speaker 1: if he has another performance like he did the first
- 39:15Speaker 1: two weeks on special teams, is he a roster bubble candidate?
- 39:19Speaker 1: Is his job in jeopardy?
- 39:20Speaker 4: No, no, no.
- 39:21Speaker 3: Are you going to have returning kicks, Pat? You want
- 39:23Speaker 3: to call quarter L Patterson up? Give him one last go.
- 39:27Speaker 1: I just, uh i don't put a lot of as
- 39:30Speaker 1: you can tell i don't put a lot of value
- 39:31Speaker 1: in kick returners i think each team you take away
- 39:35Speaker 1: their top kick returner there's two three guys on their
- 39:38Speaker 1: team somewhere you know wide receivers running backs defensive backs
- 39:42Speaker 1: that can return kicks so.
- 39:44Speaker 3: Yeah no kick returning i've seen enough at a bag
- 39:47Speaker 3: or kick returners out of the last two years We
- 39:50Speaker 3: don't need any more bad kick returners returning kicks for
- 39:52Speaker 3: this team.
- 39:54Speaker 1: Here's an obvious stiff. No longer on the team. Laith Marjan,
- 40:00Speaker 1: the kicker that has the arm sleeve that Doobie thought
- 40:03Speaker 1: was an African-American gentleman, which, hey, it's OK. You know,
- 40:08Speaker 1: I get it.
- 40:08Speaker 3: Just like Beaver football back in the day, huh?
- 40:13Speaker 2: You guys did too in two-wheel. I'm the one who
- 40:16Speaker 2: realized it was an arm sleeve.
- 40:18Speaker 6: What are you talking about?
- 40:20Speaker 4: I know who he is, dude.
- 40:21Speaker 1: I told you he was white.
- 40:23Speaker 2: That's not how it happened.
- 40:24Speaker 3: I was on another planet the whole game, dude. I
- 40:27Speaker 3: had some little kid just banging me in the head
- 40:29Speaker 3: for three quarters.
- 40:32Speaker 6: When a kid's banging you.
- 40:34Speaker 3: I couldn't even think straight.
- 40:39Speaker 2: Yeah, that was funny.
- 40:40Speaker 1: No, here's what I wanted to say about him. Just
- 40:43Speaker 1: real quick because he's not on the team anymore. I
- 40:45Speaker 1: felt bad for him when I went to.
- 40:47Speaker 3: That training camp practice when they had Boz out there.
- 40:51Speaker 3: And I talked about this on the pod, but usually
- 40:56Speaker 3: most of the practices I would go to, the kicker
- 40:59Speaker 3: would kind of be off to the side or he'd
- 41:01Speaker 3: sneak into the first field and just.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Kick a couple balls. But it was never high-intensity practice.
- 41:07Speaker 1: There usually wasn't, like, blockers on either side coming after him.
- 41:10Speaker 1: So it was basically, like, you know, just dicking around,
- 41:13Speaker 1: kicking the ball. But when I was there, they put
- 41:16Speaker 1: him on, like, the 30. And they backed both kickers.
- 41:21Speaker 1: They backed them both up. So Boswell, 30, 35, 40, 45.
- 41:25Speaker 1: Boswell went like seven for nine and made a field
- 41:29Speaker 1: goal that would have been good from like 70, 75 yards.
- 41:32Speaker 1: I swear to God, it was a fucking boot. Everyone
- 41:35Speaker 1: was cheering. And then they bring Leith Marjan in and
- 41:39Speaker 1: he fucking missed like a 45 yard or short. And
- 41:43Speaker 1: I was like, oh my God, that's a rough, that's
- 41:46Speaker 1: a tough look, you know? So hopefully he, you know,
- 41:50Speaker 1: lands on his feet, but not much, not much to
- 41:54Speaker 1: say about Leith Marjan.
- 41:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't even know how to spell his first
- 42:00Speaker 3: or his last name.
- 42:01Speaker 1: Laith. Yeah, you can say it.
- 42:04Speaker 3: I still don't know how to spell it.
- 42:05Speaker 1: What nationality is that? Not African-American, right, dude? I mean,
- 42:09Speaker 1: that sounds French, huh?
- 42:11Speaker 3: African-American's not a nationality, buddy.
- 42:14Speaker 7: You're right.
- 42:15Speaker 1: We're all American.
- 42:18Speaker 3: I mean, he might be African-American, dude. I'm kind of
- 42:22Speaker 3: looking at a picture of him right now.
- 42:24Speaker 1: I think he's... It's an Arabic name.
- 42:29Speaker 3: Marjan?
- 42:31Speaker 4: Laith.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Let's see. Arab.
- 42:35Speaker 3: His father's from Kuwait.
- 42:37Speaker 1: Oh, hell yeah.
- 42:40Speaker 3: Yeah, you like Kuwait?
- 42:41Speaker 1: I knew a guy from Kuwait. He was a good time.
- 42:44Speaker 1: You ended up on a list, buddy. He was on
- 42:47Speaker 1: a lot of lists. Good guy.
- 42:52Speaker 9: Boy.
- 42:53Speaker 3: You got the other stiff this week?
- 42:56Speaker 1: Yeah, Will Howard.
- 42:58Speaker 3: Boy.
- 42:59Speaker 1: What did you think about those two interceptions?
- 43:04Speaker 3: If we're playing the blame game here, I'm going 60-40
- 43:08Speaker 3: Roman Wilson.
- 43:09Speaker 4: Okay.
- 43:10Speaker 1: I like that. Because people are putting it all on Roman.
- 43:14Speaker 1: That first interception. I mean, listen, if you run the
- 43:17Speaker 1: wrong routes or get lazy and throw off on a route,
- 43:20Speaker 1: he's not running sharp routes. And if Rodgers was in there,
- 43:23Speaker 1: Rodgers just wouldn't have thrown him the ball.
- 43:25Speaker 3: Right because rogers he's rogers is telling mike to get him.
- 43:29Speaker 1: Off the field yeah exactly he wouldn't have thrown the
- 43:32Speaker 1: ball and then he would have chewed him out on
- 43:33Speaker 1: the sideline that one that first interception i kind of
- 43:38Speaker 1: saw and he ran the wrong route he should have
- 43:40Speaker 1: done that but i kind of saw why he did
- 43:42Speaker 1: what he did if if howard would have thrown the
- 43:45Speaker 1: ball to the back right corner of the end zone
- 43:47Speaker 1: that would have been a touchdown right he saw an
- 43:49Speaker 1: opening back there and that's what he did in michigan
- 43:51Speaker 1: he'd beat people in manner. He'd find little parts in
- 43:54Speaker 1: the zone. He'd pick it apart and just kind of
- 43:56Speaker 1: rest in the pocket. I don't know how well he
- 43:59Speaker 1: was coached at Michigan. Obviously, a run first team. Roman Wilson. Michigan. Anyway.
- 44:09Speaker 6: Yeah, shut up, intern.
- 44:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I have another joint, Ray.
- 44:18Speaker 6: Stupid intern.
- 44:21Speaker 1: But obviously, Michigan, not a school that, you know, quarterbacks
- 44:26Speaker 1: and receivers. It's offensive line, running backs, defensive tackles. Anyway,
- 44:33Speaker 1: he could get away with that in college, right? And
- 44:35Speaker 1: clearly they kind of game plan around that in college.
- 44:37Speaker 1: And that's a habit he's got to break. I mean,
- 44:39Speaker 1: he can't be ad-libbing routes in the NFL and expecting
- 44:43Speaker 1: plays to go right, especially with Rodgers in there.
- 44:46Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 44:47Speaker 3: Absolutely oh do do message and said i thought pat
- 44:50Speaker 3: was talking about will howard so okay fair enough deep
- 44:53Speaker 3: sorry you're good i don't know why you did it
- 44:59Speaker 3: i don't know who you thought he.
- 45:01Speaker 1: Was talking about of course he was talking about will
- 45:03Speaker 1: howard i'm talking about roman wilson i know pat i
- 45:08Speaker 1: know jesus doobies fucking stupidity is contagious it's fucking rubbing
- 45:12Speaker 1: off on me.
- 45:15Speaker 3: Yeah, Will Howard, not a clean game, but as Mike
- 45:17Speaker 3: McCarthy said post-game, not clean plays.
- 45:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I liked how he handled that. Yeah.
- 45:30Speaker 3: You have a play of the game, Pat?
- 45:32Speaker 1: It was at a Landon Roberts fourth down stop. It
- 45:34Speaker 1: was a great play. You were yapping to the dude
- 45:37Speaker 1: behind you, and dude was yapping to someone.
- 45:40Speaker 3: I fucking..
- 45:41Speaker 1: I'm looking at both you guys like, Hey, look, look, look, look.
- 45:43Speaker 1: And neither of you guys are watching the fucking game. Wow.
- 45:53Speaker 3: My play of the game is the drew Aller rollout,
- 45:56Speaker 3: throw down the sideline to Lake McCree for 38 yards.
- 46:01Speaker 1: Tate McCray.
- 46:02Speaker 3: Yeah. Tate McCray.
- 46:04Speaker 4: Yup.
- 46:04Speaker 3: Catching it on the sideline. That was a beautiful ball.
- 46:07Speaker 3: One of the better balls I've seen thrown in that stadium.
- 46:10Speaker 3: I was, That single throw alone made me a believer
- 46:14Speaker 3: in Drew Aller. Dude, let's move this panic meter segment up,
- 46:20Speaker 3: I think.
- 46:21Speaker 1: Let's do it right now. What do you say? You
- 46:22Speaker 1: want to kick that off for us?
- 46:25Speaker 2: Let's go.
- 46:25Speaker 4: All right.
- 46:26Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 46:27Speaker 2: So, I mean, obviously we've been talking about the O-line.
- 46:31Speaker 2: You know, they've already let up a total of seven sacks.
- 46:34Speaker 2: Roderick Jones lit up three of them. That's the most
- 46:37Speaker 2: in the NFL through the preseason. What are we giving
- 46:41Speaker 2: the panic meter on the O line?
- 46:43Speaker 3: What's the scale here?
- 46:44Speaker 2: One through ten.
- 46:46Speaker 3: One through ten.
- 46:47Speaker 1: One being not afraid. Ten being they're launching the nukes.
- 46:52Speaker 1: Grab the baked beans and your family and get to
- 46:54Speaker 1: the shelter.
- 46:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 46:58Speaker 7: Okay.
- 46:58Speaker 3: Go ahead, Pat.
- 47:01Speaker 1: I mean, I'm at like a. A three, just because
- 47:04Speaker 1: I saw this coming. Like, this isn't a surprise to me.
- 47:06Speaker 4: Uh-huh.
- 47:07Speaker 3: Yeah, you saw it coming, huh? I did.
- 47:11Speaker 1: It's going to get worse before it gets better.
- 47:13Speaker 3: And this has been bad. I mean, I'm not surprised
- 47:16Speaker 3: at all. Yeah, I'm going to go with an eight.
- 47:19Speaker 3: And if Max plays week one, it'll be at a zero.
- 47:26Speaker 3: We need that guy in there bad. What else you
- 47:31Speaker 3: got for us, Doobie?
- 47:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, with the O-line comes, you know, the
- 47:36Speaker 2: run game. We're on the average in 3.1 yards per
- 47:39Speaker 2: carry so far through the preseason. What are you guys
- 47:43Speaker 2: thinking about the running back room?
- 47:47Speaker 1: I'm on a 9 out of 10, McGingey. Not the
- 47:49Speaker 1: running backs specifically, but the running game as a whole.
- 47:54Speaker 1: I'm not kidding when I say they have barely touched
- 47:56Speaker 1: this in training camp and practices. McCarthy's been so focused.
- 48:02Speaker 1: on the quarterback play in the passing game, especially with
- 48:06Speaker 1: such a young O-line and inexperienced in their positions, not
- 48:09Speaker 1: working on this in training camp, introducing some new backs
- 48:12Speaker 1: in the room. I mean, it's going to be a disaster, McG.
- 48:15Speaker 1: I don't think enough people are talking about it. Pat
- 48:18Speaker 1: is sounding the alarm. Get the canned food ready and
- 48:22Speaker 1: tell your family one more fucking DEFCON and we're all
- 48:25Speaker 1: saying our fucking prayers.
- 48:28Speaker 3: Yeah, what'd you say? You're at an eight?
- 48:29Speaker 1: I don't know if I said eight. I'm at a nine.
- 48:33Speaker 3: Okay.
- 48:33Speaker 4: Nine?
- 48:34Speaker 1: Nine out of ten. I'm terrified.
- 48:37Speaker 3: Oh, man.
- 48:38Speaker 1: Terrified.
- 48:40Speaker 3: 26 carries for 98 yards just isn't cutting it last week.
- 48:44Speaker 3: We had 26 rushing attempts, 38 passing attempts. I'm probably
- 48:50Speaker 3: right around that number, too. I'm going to go eight.
- 48:53Speaker 3: And I would be at a ten, but we gave
- 48:56Speaker 3: ten carries to Caleb Johnson. You spread those carries out
- 49:00Speaker 3: between Rico and Jalen, and I think it looks a
- 49:02Speaker 3: lot better. Caleb Johnson is clearly not that guy. He's
- 49:06Speaker 3: worked his way out of a roster spot at this point.
- 49:09Speaker 3: 10 carries with the longest carry being five yards. He's
- 49:13Speaker 3: just slow, not agile, not as strong as we thought
- 49:17Speaker 3: he was going to be. Clearly did not make the
- 49:19Speaker 3: jump to the nfl um like we thought he could
- 49:22Speaker 3: have well.
- 49:23Speaker 1: Let's talk about because this is what i mentioned when
- 49:26Speaker 1: we evaluate preseason games right mcginge is like is adding
- 49:33Speaker 1: warren and dowdle going to drastically improve this run game
- 49:38Speaker 1: it Is adding Werner Doudo going to make holes open
- 49:41Speaker 1: up in the offensive line?
- 49:42Speaker 3: Is it going to increase reps in practice, make sure
- 49:45Speaker 3: guys are ready?
- 49:46Speaker 1: I don't see adding. Obviously, they're better than Caleb Johnson
- 49:50Speaker 1: and the rest of the guys below them there, but
- 49:54Speaker 1: it doesn't seem like it's been a running back issue.
- 49:57Speaker 1: It seems like it's been an offensive line issue, an
- 49:59Speaker 1: execution issue, a lack of attention to detail issue, and
- 50:03Speaker 1: I don't see it getting any better.
- 50:06Speaker 3: Here's one thing that I will sound the alarms on.
- 50:10Speaker 3: And I said this when we signed Rico Dottle, and
- 50:13Speaker 3: I've said it on the show a few times. Rico
- 50:16Speaker 3: Dottle is a terrible pass blocker. He is terrible in
- 50:21Speaker 3: pass protection. With Jalen back there, I think not only
- 50:26Speaker 3: does the running game get better, but the offensive line
- 50:29Speaker 3: play looks a little bit better as well.
- 50:33Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, fair enough. But I am concerned. What
- 50:37Speaker 1: else you got for us, dude?
- 50:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you guys make some good points about
- 50:41Speaker 2: the run game. But on to, you know, secondary again.
- 50:48Speaker 2: You know, you guys have already talked enough about JPJ.
- 50:51Speaker 2: But how about Jamel Dean, who, you know, is kind
- 50:53Speaker 2: of filling in for him right now. Hasn't really done
- 50:56Speaker 2: anything except one solo tackle the whole preseason.
- 51:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm at a 6 out of 10. For those
- 51:04Speaker 1: math geniuses and the math wizards, that is one above five, right?
- 51:09Speaker 1: So I'm leaning towards more pessimistic than optimistic here, and
- 51:15Speaker 1: that's solely because nothing against Jamel Deeney played great last year,
- 51:19Speaker 1: but like you said with the offensive line, McGingey, until
- 51:23Speaker 1: I see it, I'm not going to believe it. And
- 51:25Speaker 1: I say that because we have had some awful, awful
- 51:29Speaker 1: free agent and trades with cornerbacks the past few years,
- 51:32Speaker 1: especially guys not necessarily in the prime of their career. Now,
- 51:36Speaker 1: Jamel Dean's a little younger than, obviously, Darius Slay and
- 51:40Speaker 1: a couple of the guys we've signed in the past,
- 51:42Speaker 1: but this team has just had an unprecedented spin of
- 51:47Speaker 1: bad luck with hoping guys can repeat the season that
- 51:51Speaker 1: they had the year prior when they joined the Steelers.
- 51:54Speaker 3: Yeah, and I think for that reason, I mean, I
- 51:56Speaker 3: would— If the bias of the last few free agent
- 52:01Speaker 3: corners we've signed didn't exist, I'd be at a one.
- 52:05Speaker 3: Because I haven't seen anything out of Jamel Dean that
- 52:12Speaker 3: has caused for concern. Obviously, he hasn't looked the greatest
- 52:16Speaker 3: in the preseason, but I'm willing to overlook that unless
- 52:20Speaker 3: the regular season starts and he looks exactly the same.
- 52:23Speaker 3: But I'm probably going to go with a three. just
- 52:25Speaker 3: because I am scorned by the past free agent signings. And,
- 52:29Speaker 3: you know, he could be another name on a list.
- 52:32Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 52:32Speaker 1: Let's go through just real quickly here. Some of the
- 52:37Speaker 1: recent free agency kind of acquisitions here. Sante Samuel Jr. Excellence.
- 52:43Speaker 1: Darius Slay. Horrible. Didn't even finish.
- 52:47Speaker 3: Inside sleeper agent for the Eagles and the Israelis.
- 52:51Speaker 1: Patrick Peterson fell off. He wasn't the same player. Cam Sutton,
- 52:56Speaker 1: on his return, obviously was unplayable. Dante Jackson had a
- 53:01Speaker 1: lot of interceptions. He had, what, six, seven interceptions? He
- 53:05Speaker 1: had a lot of interceptions. I believe he led the team,
- 53:09Speaker 1: but just not, you know, a lot of holes within
- 53:14Speaker 1: Dante Jackson. So, you know, just doesn't inspire confidence when
- 53:17Speaker 1: you look at the history of the folks they've brought
- 53:19Speaker 1: in at the position.
- 53:21Speaker 3: No, and I do know someone who was working on
- 53:23Speaker 3: Cam Sutton's house. So if anyone wants to get that
- 53:26Speaker 3: terrorist a message, let me know and I can pass
- 53:28Speaker 3: it along.
- 53:28Speaker 1: Yeah, we're not going to do that. Go ahead. Who
- 53:31Speaker 1: else you got for us, Doob? You're on mute, Doob.
- 53:40Speaker 2: Good points there.
- 53:46Speaker 3: Working out the kinks.
- 53:48Speaker 2: So what about special teams?
- 53:50Speaker 4: I mean..
- 53:51Speaker 2: I know we've said that Johnston's been punting really well.
- 53:56Speaker 2: There's been a little bit of mixed reviews with Wet
- 53:58Speaker 2: Jet from you guys. But one thing I've noticed is
- 54:02Speaker 2: kind of penalties. We had seven flags just in the
- 54:05Speaker 2: preseason opener. How are you guys feeling about new special
- 54:09Speaker 2: teams coach and, you know, overall vibes?
- 54:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think there was any penalties in the
- 54:19Speaker 1: first half. of this past preseason game. There were four total.
- 54:23Speaker 1: They were all in the second half. So I don't know,
- 54:25Speaker 1: maybe something to possibly potentially be optimistic about. Penalties do
- 54:29Speaker 1: concern me on special teams for sure. We know that
- 54:33Speaker 1: whenever we lost, and we talked about this last week,
- 54:36Speaker 1: so won't go too far in depth here, but whenever
- 54:38Speaker 1: we lost Danny Smith, we lost one of the best
- 54:41Speaker 1: kind of defensive special teamers, one of the best coverage
- 54:46Speaker 1: special team players or coaches possible. with the hope that
- 54:50Speaker 1: Crossman can bring in some of the returning ability. We
- 54:53Speaker 1: spent a fourth-round pick on a returner who, I'll save
- 54:57Speaker 1: my judgment until the regular season, McG. I'll play ball
- 55:00Speaker 1: with you, but has looked pretty mediocre thus far. I'd
- 55:03Speaker 1: put my level of concern at a 7 on special teams.
- 55:08Speaker 4: You know what?
- 55:09Speaker 1: Special teams as a whole, I'll move it down to
- 55:11Speaker 1: a 5, because Boz is the man, and I like
- 55:14Speaker 1: Cam Johnston. But in terms of punt coverage and punt
- 55:18Speaker 1: returns and kick coverage and kick returns. If it was
- 55:21Speaker 1: just based on that, I'd be at like a seven
- 55:23Speaker 1: or eight.
- 55:26Speaker 3: I'm out of two. They get one for each fumble
- 55:28Speaker 3: they've had so far.
- 55:29Speaker 6: That's crazy.
- 55:33Speaker 3: Let's, let's take a look at the numbers here. Swiffer
- 55:35Speaker 3: wet jet average 17.7 yards per punt return four touchdowns
- 55:41Speaker 3: in the three years at Iowa.
- 55:42Speaker 1: Oh, we're talking. Okay.
- 55:44Speaker 2: Okay.
- 55:44Speaker 3: On the kickoff, he's got 27 and a half yard
- 55:47Speaker 3: return average, two return touchdowns. He's got 2,500 total return yards.
- 55:53Speaker 3: I'm giving this guy as much slack as my line
- 55:57Speaker 3: can handle. He is someone I've been asking for the
- 56:00Speaker 3: Steelers to get for the last, I mean, since we
- 56:03Speaker 3: got rid of AB. AB was the last good returner
- 56:06Speaker 3: we've had. We've been terrible at the return game since.
- 56:09Speaker 3: He's adjusting to the NFL kick return style, which is
- 56:12Speaker 3: notoriously different than in college. He's had nothing but borderline
- 56:18Speaker 3: roster players in front of him, not our normal special
- 56:21Speaker 3: teams guys out there. I'm giving him some slack.
- 56:24Speaker 1: I'm at a two. Okay, well, take his dick out
- 56:27Speaker 1: of your mouth for a second. How do you feel
- 56:31Speaker 1: about the rest of the special teams unit around him?
- 56:35Speaker 3: Cam Johnston, I think, is a stud. I mean, this is,
- 56:39Speaker 3: you know, essentially his third stint with the Steelers now.
- 56:42Speaker 3: I've been jizzing my pants for three years thinking about
- 56:45Speaker 3: Cam Johnston. And Chris Boswell's the GOAT. He's the best Steeler.
- 56:48Speaker 7: Oh, man.
- 56:50Speaker 3: He was our best Steeler last year.
- 56:53Speaker 1: Well, okay. Apart from three players, Mitch and G. Cam Johnston,
- 57:00Speaker 1: Chris Boswell, and Swiffer Wetjet. Acknowledging there's a lot of
- 57:04Speaker 1: people on special teams.
- 57:06Speaker 3: You know who I like, Pat?
- 57:08Speaker 1: Carson Bruner.
- 57:10Speaker 3: Yes, I like Carson Bruner.
- 57:12Speaker 1: Benny Scrooge. No, come on. You're missing.
- 57:17Speaker 3: Mount Washington's finest, Christian Kuntz. Christian Kuntz, the long snapper.
- 57:22Speaker 3: He's a hell of a long snapper. He needs to
- 57:24Speaker 3: be a pro bowler this year. This guy does everything right.
- 57:27Speaker 3: He's moving into his age 32 season. He's getting up there.
- 57:31Speaker 3: They didn't know if he was going to be back
- 57:33Speaker 3: this year. And let's not forget, Pittsburgh's finest went to
- 57:37Speaker 3: Chartier's Valley and played for the Duquesne Dukes. Played for
- 57:40Speaker 3: the Duquesne Dukes. Played for the Duquesne Dukes. This guy
- 57:42Speaker 3: is the answer.
- 57:43Speaker 2: I saw him taking kids shopping for school today.
- 57:46Speaker 3: Did you?
- 57:47Speaker 1: Hell yeah.
- 57:47Speaker 2: On LinkedIn, but yeah.
- 57:49Speaker 6: Oh, no.
- 57:53Speaker 3: You didn't see him while you were getting your clothes
- 57:55Speaker 3: at the Baby Gap?
- 57:56Speaker 2: No. I saw him on LinkedIn. He was taking kids
- 58:00Speaker 2: shopping for school.
- 58:01Speaker 3: So, you know, see Pat, there's a bright spot in
- 58:04Speaker 3: the special teams right there.
- 58:09Speaker 2: I did want to back up Pat with a little
- 58:12Speaker 2: wet jet stat that I know you brought up, you know,
- 58:15Speaker 2: that the kickoff returns in the NFL are a little
- 58:17Speaker 2: bit different, which I'll, so I'll give them some slack
- 58:20Speaker 2: for averaging only 20.8 yards per kick return this year, but,
- 58:26Speaker 2: punt returns aren't different in the NFL and he's only
- 58:29Speaker 2: averaging six and a half yards per return. So that
- 58:32Speaker 2: is a little bit, you know, alarming.
- 58:35Speaker 3: It's not quite 17.7, but once he breaks one, that
- 58:38Speaker 3: number's going to jump.
- 58:41Speaker 2: Let's hope.
- 58:42Speaker 3: That's how averages typically, uh, once he breaks that 80 artery,
- 58:46Speaker 3: you won't have to worry about them averages.
- 58:49Speaker 1: That's yeah. I mean, that's the thing about dry. And
- 58:52Speaker 1: I've been very vocal about this is, uh, He's going
- 58:56Speaker 1: to have to be one of the best returners in
- 58:58Speaker 1: football right out of the gate for us to get
- 59:02Speaker 1: a good return on a fourth-round pick from him. Absolutely not, Pat.
- 59:06Speaker 1: If that's all we're expecting him to do is return
- 59:08Speaker 1: the football to play. five snaps a game, returning kicks.
- 59:13Speaker 3: Oh, my God. Are we for real? That's what we're
- 59:16Speaker 3: doing now, Pat?
- 59:18Speaker 1: That's how I've always felt. Come on, Pat.
- 59:21Speaker 2: It's kind of like drafting the kicker, McGingey. I mean,
- 59:24Speaker 2: you're not going to use a fourth-round pick on a kicker,
- 59:26Speaker 2: I don't think.
- 59:27Speaker 3: It is nothing like drafting a kicker. This Roman Wilson
- 59:32Speaker 3: is going to be off the roster. This guy's going
- 59:34Speaker 3: to slot right in. There's our fourth wide receiver uses
- 59:37Speaker 3: speed uses breakaway speed. We're going to be good. He's
- 59:41Speaker 3: going to be, he's going to be solid.
- 59:43Speaker 1: And for those of you listeners at home, I could
- 59:45Speaker 1: hear aircrafts heads spinning who say, Oh, it's a day
- 59:48Speaker 1: three pick. Oh, fourth round. Who cares? Day three pick.
- 59:51Speaker 1: Let's go through some former quote day three picks and
- 59:55Speaker 1: former fourth round, fourth rounders, Jack Sawyer, Mason McCormick.
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: Fourth string edge rusher.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: Mason McCormick. Starting guard.
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: Are you saying he's good? I haven't seen anything good
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: out of the offensive line.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: Starting guard, Mason McCormick.
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: Nick Herbig.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: Stud.
- 1:00:13Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Prior to that, Calvin Johnson.
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: Nick Herbig was also a backup.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: You know who else was a fourth round pick? Kevin Dotson.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: One of the best guards in the league.
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: Calvin Austin was a fourth-round pick.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: Calvin Austin.
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: Terrible.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: I wouldn't say terrible. Terrible. And, you know, knee injury.
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: Looks pretty brutal. Got carted off at practice for the Giants.
- 1:00:37Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: Prayers up for Calvin Austin III.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: All I'm saying is this team's been able to find
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: a lot of value in the fourth rounds. So, in
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: order for Wet Jet to be in line with some
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: of the fourth-round picks we've had even recently... He's going
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: to have to be one of the best returners in
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: football the next few years.
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: I disagree, Pat.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: I think we'll be all right.
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: Okay. Good, I'm glad.
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: I think that's it from the panic meter.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: I need to refill my bourbon. Can we go to commercial?
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: Yeah, let's take a break for some station identification. And
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: when we get back, we're going to have the Bills
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: preview for you. McJingy's hot lead at the end of
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: the week and some trivia. Stay tuned. Beer!
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: Cigarettes!
- 1:01:24Speaker 6: Football! High fructose corn syrup!
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: Big trucks!
- 1:01:30Speaker 6: Firework shows!
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: Heavy machinery!
- 1:01:32Speaker 6: Big game hunting!
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: Farmer's tans!
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: First responders!
- 1:01:36Speaker 6: Cuban cigars! High cholesterol! More beer! $ 10 blackjack hands!
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: 50 cent wings!
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: Truck nuts!
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: And tarps off radio!
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: Here.
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: We. Go.
- 1:01:52Speaker 9: Rick the Rhino is back!
- 1:01:58Speaker 10: And he's got one goal to suplex erectile dysfunction. I've
- 1:02:05Speaker 10: searched this earth far and wide to find you the
- 1:02:10Speaker 10: best cure for erectile dysfunction.
- 1:02:14Speaker 7: I've traversed the desolate plains of the Serengeti.
- 1:02:18Speaker 12: I've climbed the highest mountains of the Karakom. I've spoken
- 1:02:23Speaker 12: to ancient monks, and I've mastered the art of penile voodoo.
- 1:02:27Speaker 12: I even bartered my own soul to a merchant in
- 1:02:31Speaker 12: the Moroccan bazaar. I once spent three weeks floating.
- 1:02:35Speaker 7: In a cybernetic sensory deprivation chamber, marinating in my own
- 1:02:40Speaker 7: feces and ejaculate.
- 1:02:42Speaker 4: And what I found..
- 1:02:44Speaker 9: Is the world's first 100% placebo-based, complete and utter cure.
- 1:02:50Speaker 4: For erectile dysfunction.
- 1:02:53Speaker 9: Rhino Ricks Extreme Rhino Thrust! If you have any problems
- 1:03:02Speaker 9: with Rick the Rhino's cure, give me a call on
- 1:03:05Speaker 9: my personal line, and I promise you, my wife Sheila
- 1:03:09Speaker 9: will come down to your home, will come down to
- 1:03:11Speaker 9: your office, will sit in the back of your seat
- 1:03:14Speaker 9: of your car, and jerk you.
- 1:03:16Speaker 6: Off until ejaculation.
- 1:03:18Speaker 11: That's how confident Rick Dorino is that his pills will
- 1:03:22Speaker 11: make you harder than fuck.
- 1:03:24Speaker 6: None of these claims have been evaluated by doctors, because
- 1:03:28Speaker 6: doctors are fucking pussies too.
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: So if you're.
- 1:03:31Speaker 11: Tired of being a spineless, dickless, no-come-got-fucked piece of shit buzzer,
- 1:03:38Speaker 11: Thanks for sticking with us, Tarps Off listeners. Steelers at
- 1:03:44Speaker 11: Buffalo in the new Highmark Stadium up there Thursday night,
- 1:03:49Speaker 11: 7 p.m.
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: Another weekday preseason game. I'm fucking sick of it, Pat. Luckily,
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: we don't have any Thursday home games, and the only
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: weekday game we have this year is the Denver Broncos
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: on Black Friday, which we have off of work, unless
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: you work for a scumbag corporation company like Pat and Doobie.
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: Do you guys have off work that day? Of course.
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: I don't know, but I will be not working.
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: Of course I have off work that day.
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: Great company. Great companies you boys work for.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: I'm going underwater here.
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: Nice.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: Everyone listen.
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: Now we know why you love the offensive line so much.
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: I was fucking going underwater.
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: Bills minus three. 88% of the bets and the money
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: are on Bills minus three. Over under set at 35
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: and a half. Maybe just sit this one out, McJingy.
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: Let's relax.
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: Let's relax.
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: The under has 83% of the bets, but only 42%
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: of the money, meaning the public is on the under,
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: but all the sharp money is on the over.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I love it.
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: And do with that information what you will. I'm leaving
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: both of them out of McGingy's hot lead. I'll save
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: that surprise play for you guys a little bit later
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: in the episode. What to look out for for the
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: Bills this week. They got obviously new head coach Joe Brady,
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: who's been the former Bills OC the past few years.
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: One thing, a little tidbit on their offense, is their
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: play action. They've run an astronomical amount of play action
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: so far this preseason. Five out of nine of Josh
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: Allen's attempts have come on play action. 32% of attempts
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: for Kyle Allen and over 50% of attempts for the
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: other backup, Shane Bukili.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: Bukaki? Shane Bukaki?
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: Shane Bukaki. They got new defensive coordinator Jim Leonard. He's
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: a first-time NFL DC that did two stints as a
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: player with the Bills in the 2000s, and he spent
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: some time as the Wisconsin defensive coordinator. 2017 to 2022,
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: where he coached Keanu Benton and Nick Herbig. Their biggest
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: defensive focus this preseason has been to stop the run
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: and tackle better. Last year, they averaged 8.8 missed tackles
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: a game, simply unacceptable in their eyes. And over the
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: two preseason games so far, they're at five and a half,
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: seven the first week and four missed tackles against the
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: Browns last week.
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: Cool. Cool. Did you, uh, Talk about whether or not
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: Josh Allen's going to play. It doesn't look like he is.
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: It doesn't look like he is.
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: However, I wouldn't put it past him. He's a stat pattern,
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: that guy. He's going to want to get every touchdown,
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: every single yard.
- 1:07:01Speaker 7: He can't.
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: Anything in particular you're looking for in this game, McGingey?
- 1:07:09Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: What I'm looking for, like, from the Bills.
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: From the Steelers' perspective, McGingey, fuck the Bills.
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: Well, the Stewart's perspective, yeah, I got a couple things
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: written down here, specifically two. One, I'm looking for better
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: O-line play, specifically for Max to take the job. I
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: think this is the week that Max shines, puts Dylan
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: Cook in the fucking dirt.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: I hope he plays. I mean, it's possible. He's practiced
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: in full. He's had some contact practices, which is always
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: a great sign. He's not just you know, in the
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: corner of the end zone, doing some stretches and rolling
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: dice with the other injured guys. I mean, he's getting
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: after it. So would really love to see him in
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: the preseason. That's my first point as well. Apart from
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: Max Ahanich or just who's in, who's out, you know,
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: who's starting, where are they at? I think it's pretty
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: much set in stone right now. But I just, you know,
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: want some confirmation after watching them, the first offensive drive.
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: And the public is confused. They got a nickname for
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: him and it's a pretty cool nickname, but I'm not
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: using it. I got my own nickname for Max. The
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: public is calling him I Max, which cool name, right?
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: Last name starts with an I first name, Max. I'm
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: just calling him the anchor, Max, the anchor, I hand
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: it short. Cause I, I think that's how you pronounce
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: his last name, right?
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: On a chore.
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: It looks like anchor to me and he's going to
- 1:08:35Speaker 3: anchor this offensive line.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: Future.
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: This guy is the anchor of this offensive line. In
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: two years, he's going to be the best player on
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: this offensive line. And like I said, Pat, I'm standing
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: by this take, and I will be buried with this take.
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: This guy is going to be a stud. And it
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: was a phenomenal first-round pick.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: I'll tell you what I'm looking for as well. I
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: had two things I highlighted. Just Will Howard. I mean,
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: we know the two quarterbacks that are definitely going to
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: be on the roster. Aller and Rodgers. And I think
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: whether or not Will Howard is even on the roster
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: is going to come down to this final game.
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: I mean, what is your..
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: Quarterback prediction for this team, Mick Gingy, as of right now?
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: Well, so on the flip side, my second thing I'm
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: looking for is continued confidence, ability to make good decisions
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: from Drew Aller. I think that Aller is clearly the future.
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: At this point, I really don't care what happens to
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: Will Howard. I don't really care what happens to Mason Rudolph.
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: I would like to see Drew Aller just continue to
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: take steps forward and And I'm now excited to watch
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: Drew Allard play football. Yeah.
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: I'm kind of the opposite because I know he's obviously not,
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: I mean, I want to see him do well, you know, clearly,
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: but I know that his position, he could go out
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: and throw three interceptions and take four sacks and look horrible.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: His position on this team for this upcoming year is
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: really not going to change. It's set in stone, but
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: really what's going to come down to, you know, the
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: number two spot is going to be Will Howard and,
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: whether he can, you know, look like an actual serviceable
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: backup or at least close enough to it. And, you know,
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: what you're going to do with, with Mason Rudolph, you know,
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: at that point. So that's why I'm going to keep
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: my eyes on, on Will Howard in particular.
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: And I think that's everything you just said. Oh, that's
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: why I'm keeping my eyes on Aller. Well, if, if
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: Howard and realistically, I don't know why Rudolph's not playing.
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: Like it, Rudolph must be a lock on this roster.
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: if he's not playing because otherwise you have him play
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: and you, you try to showcase what he's got in
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: the hopes that you can move on from him.
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: And McCarthy said, you know, basically I'm paraphrasing, but he said,
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: you know, we've seen all that we need to see
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: from Mason Rudolph. And it, it doesn't sound like that
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: means we're cutting Mason Rudolph, right? It sounds like they
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: think he's been pretty damn impressive in practice and in
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: the preseason and, And, you know, they've seen it all.
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: If somebody is competing for a job, then you're not
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: going to say we've seen all we need to see.
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: We're not playing him. And the only other two options
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: are he's been so ass that we want him gone
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: or he's cemented a spot on this roster. So I
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: really think it's more positive than negative, obviously.
- 1:11:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: And I think Mike McCarthy, as we've said, is going
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: to help Rudolph. Let me ask you this, Pat. Mason
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: Rudolph or Byron Leftwich?
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: Fuck Byron Leftwich, dude. I ran into him at a
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: teachers versus Steelers basketball game back in high school. I
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: was a little lad. I was probably, you know, third,
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: fourth grade at that point. And he was like walking
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: into the locker room, signing autographs. I mean, you could
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: feel the confidence. The confidence is, from this guy radiated
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: off of him. You would get burned if you stood
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: within five feet of this guy. That's how fucking intense
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: his confidence was. And he was walking into the locker room,
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: got done signing like 10 autographs. And I was next
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: in line. I said, excuse me, can you sign this?
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: And he just like looked right over me. Didn't look
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: at me. Just walked away. Didn't sign it. Never got
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: his autograph. Fucking burned me from day one. He can
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: go fuck himself.
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: Superbowl winner as a player and a coach.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: Can he pick it?
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: Although as a coach, impressive.
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: Let me ask you this. Mason Rudolph or Charlie Batch?
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: Charlie Batch. Yeah. This is an important question. I wanted
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: to get to this at some point in the podcast.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: And I was thinking about making a whole segment out
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: of it, but I don't think it applies to a
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: lot of players. It definitely applies to Will Howard. What
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: is your level of confidence that if the Steelers don't
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: put him in the active roster, what is your level
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: of confidence he'll make the practice squad versus– getting scooped
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: up by another team.
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: Mason Rudolph?
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: Will Howard.
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: Sorry, I saw the idiots. There was a certain stooge
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: for 93.7 The Fan that said they should put aside
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: a deal with Mason Rudolph where they put him on
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: the practice squad, but if Rodgers gets hurt, they elevate
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: him and they start him. It's like, yeah, it was
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. Like, yeah,
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: Mason's just going to go from $ 200, 000 a week down
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: to $ 20, 000 a week just because he promised him. 93-7
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: the Stooges earning the credibility there. But Will Howard?
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: I don't know, Pat.
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: That's a good question.
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: It's a great question.
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: And I think it all boils down to is Mike
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: McCarthy willing to risk losing him? And I think the
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: answer to that question is likely yes.
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: What also it boils down to, McGingy, is when you
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: look at it from another– you know, common knowledge, I'd say,
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: but for those who don't know, if you're put on
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: the practice squad, another team has the opportunity to assign
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: you to their active roster, right? You're not really going
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: from practice squad to practice squad, but if somebody comes
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: calling with a contract for the quarterback two or quarterback three,
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: if they want to keep you active on game day,
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: then you're essentially going to that other team. So is
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: Will Howard, like, is there any team out there And
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: injuries can still happen in the preseason, right? Quarterback can
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: go down, you've got to fill up some depth. But
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: is there a team out there that thinks Will Howard
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: can come in after not being with them at all
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: in the preseason or the offseason and be the second
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: or third best quarterback on their team? Like, are we
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: confident that if he doesn't make the roster, he's not
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: going to make the practice squad? I mean, I'm like 60-40.
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: 60 that he makes the practice squad, 40 he gets
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: scooped up. There is a team that he led to
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: a national title, or I guess a state that he
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: led to a national title, that is struggling at quarterback
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: right now. And luckily, I think they're too stupid to
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: even think about picking up Will Howard. But Will Howard,
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: as a Cleveland Brown, probably be a little bit better
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: than Shador and Deshaun.
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: And we know they'd keep fucking... 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: 8 quarterbacks on their roster.
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: They keep doing Gabriel. Maybe they get Flacco another year.
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: 8 quarterbacks at trading.
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: Camp last year. Oh my gosh. Should we just go
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: through the list of Browns quarterbacks to start since 2000?
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: No, I don't think we have enough time for that.
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: Yeah, you're right, dude. You forgot the injury report.
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I did. I went scuba diving I was underwater
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: for a minute so lack of oxygen to the brain
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: has been affecting me I'll just go through the whole
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: list here Sebastian Castro was wearing what's wrong with him
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: he got hurt with an ankle injury it doesn't look
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: too serious he was in a walking boots I think
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: it was two weeks ago but it's not looking too
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: serious he is expected to miss the preseason game but
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: I wouldn't expect him to miss too much time in
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: the regular season Jalen Ramsey activated..
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: What's wrong with him?
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: He had an ankle injury. Oh, I see what you're doing.
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: I would scoot it out of it. Sorry. Jalen Ramsey
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: activated from the pup list yesterday, actually. Well, Monday, after
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: dealing with some knee issues. Joey Porter Jr. Nothing?
- 1:16:49Speaker 4: What's wrong with him?
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: Nothing. Nothing's wrong with him.
- 1:16:54Speaker 10: He is..
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: Having some contract-related injuries. Jaquan Brisker and Sebastian Joseph Day.
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: What's wrong with them?
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: They're back in pads, so we might see some action
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: for them. They're off to the side working with trainers, though.
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman.
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: What's wrong with them?
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: Yeah, they should be fine. I wouldn't expect them to
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: suit up for the Bills, though, but they returned to
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: padded work, and it's looking good for The season starter,
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: first week, Jesus Christ, season start, but nothing shocking there.
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: Dante Kent.
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: What's wrong with him?
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: He's on the pup list, McGingy, with a knee injury.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: And Brandon Echols.
- 1:17:37Speaker 3: What's wrong with him?
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: Well, he's been dealing with an ankle injury, McGingy.
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: That's a short list. That's a short list.
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, knock on wood, it's a very short
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: list for this time of year. Nice. Just a bunch
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: of fake injuries, really. I mean, there's more fake injuries
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: than real injuries right now.
- 1:17:57Speaker 4: Aircraft.
- 1:17:59Speaker 3: Sorry, I forgot the introduction. Everyone's favorite segment, things to
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: watch from aircraft's eye in the sky.
- 1:18:04Speaker 7: Flight attendants, prepare for takeoff, please.
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: Aircraft just wants to remind everyone to evaluate the player
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: and not get too highs and the high and lows
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: and the lows.
- 1:18:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: And he's very excited about his week. One things to
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: watch from aircraft's eye in the sky. So in, in
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: three weeks, he's going to have a banger for us.
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: He says, absolutely.
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: I heard he's actually been flying over some practices, right. For, uh,
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: the Steelers and some other teams in our division and
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: doing some spy work. I probably shouldn't be saying that
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: on air.
- 1:18:55Speaker 3: Yeah, let's not out our guy, Pat.
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: But I went scuba diving, so sorry. Lack of oxygen
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: to the brain. Yeah, makes sense. But he knows his stuff.
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: He's got his sources.
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: What is the plan for the game? You know, I
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: hope everyone's got some good food set aside. You know,
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: they get off of work early, maybe on Thursday, hit
- 1:19:17Speaker 3: a happy hour, go to a crib to watch. I'm
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: looking forward to sitting on my couch for this one, Pat.
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: Oh, it sounded like you were inviting yourself over to
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: my place for a minute. I thought that's where this
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: was going.
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: Did you finally finish cleaning your place?
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: My place is clean, brother.
- 1:19:37Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: Is it like, you know, clean? Like would a girl
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: approve it?
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: I am a bachelor in my late twenties, but Gigi,
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: this is as clean as it gets.
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: There's probably a recliner in the middle of the living room.
- 1:19:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: And I have two TVs and one is in front
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: of the other, like not even like one is three
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: inches in front of the other one.
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: How does that work?
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: The one behind it is not being used right now.
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: it's been like that for like a.
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: Month how about we hang one of them up pat
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: one of.
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: Well the big one big it's it's like 55 maybe
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: 60 inches not huge but that one's great but uh
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: it's got a lag it's got an input lag on
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: my video games so i brought the tv up from
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: downstairs it's a little smaller but it's no input lag
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: and i'm like i was drunk maybe a little high
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: and i was like fuck it dude i'm just putting
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: it right here just right i'll deal with the other
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: one later And that was like a month, month and
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: a half ago. Yeah.
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: You don't really have too many women come over, huh?
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: The broads?
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:20:46Speaker 7: No.
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: That's tough.
- 1:20:50Speaker 3: You know, someone asked me the other day, someone who
- 1:20:55Speaker 3: doesn't know you guys too well and was like, are
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: you going to have to be the one to carry
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: on your family name?
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: How would you answer that question, Pat? I don't know, dude.
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: Am I going to be the one in charge of
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: carrying on the family name?
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: Are you having a kid?
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: No, not now.
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: At some point? Yeah, I'll be having kids. Well, there's
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: your fucking answer, McGingy. Why are you fucking busting my balls?
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: What if I don't have kids? Is it all up
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: to me? Is it all the responsibilities on my back?
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: Well, you said you're having kids, so it's a moot point,
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: isn't it?
- 1:21:33Speaker 3: Well, heaven forbid, you know, heaven forbid my dick don't work.
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: Well, I got the guy for you if your dick
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: don't work.
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: Well, then it's not my kid.
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: No, I mean this guy.
- 1:21:43Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 1:21:44Speaker 6: He's a theoretical guy.
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: Former Allegheny County bare-knuckle boxing champion. Rick the Rhino. I
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: heard on the street people were saying he is in
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: the process of suplexing.
- 1:22:01Speaker 3: Yes, but he makes dicks hard. What does he do
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: for the sperms?
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: That's a good question. We should ask him that. We
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: should ask him that.
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: Maybe he has a product for that.
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe he does. Maybe, hypothetically, he could just inseminate.
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: I'm sure his sperm are fine.
- 1:22:27Speaker 3: We did have a suggestion. So in our fantasy football league,
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: there was a suggestion this year that the loser of
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: the league, there's a loser's punishment, right? Someone suggested the
- 1:22:37Speaker 3: loser had to let their significant other get impregnated by
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: the winner.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: Sounds like everyone's a loser in that situation.
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: Yeah, that would be crazy.
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: I don't know who the winner is there.
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: The child. The child would grow up with winning sperms.
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: Yeah, one fantasy football championship.
- 1:23:11Speaker 3: From before he was born. That's more than you got.
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: It's really not. I got at least half of one.
- 1:23:17Speaker 3: Yeah, so one is more than half, Pat.
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: No, it's not.
- 1:23:21Speaker 3: Oh, please. You got an asterisk that comes with that championship.
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I'm still coming. Maybe not buckets, cops right now.
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: Just cops right now. We'll get up to buckets eventually.
- 1:23:35Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: Anything else you're looking for for this game?
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: What game?
- 1:23:46Speaker 3: Moving on to McGingy's hot lead. You're going to hate
- 1:23:50Speaker 3: this one. Everyone's going to hate this one.
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: I hate this one.
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: I hate this one a lot. This is one of
- 1:23:59Speaker 3: those bets, you know, it's a preseason bet. But we
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: need to start getting comfortable placing bets that you don't like. Because,
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: I mean, realistically, if you like every bet you place,
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: you're not winning any money. This bet, the opposite side,
- 1:24:17Speaker 3: I don't even want to tell you. The spread's two
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: and a half, okay? We're going with the underdog on this.
- 1:24:23Speaker 3: The minus two and a half favorite. 97% of all
- 1:24:29Speaker 3: bets placed have been on the minus two and a
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: half favorite. And virtually 100% of the money. Virtually, it's
- 1:24:37Speaker 3: like 99.99 something. Virtually 100% of the money is placed
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: on the minus two and a half favorites. So we're
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: going with the underdog.
- 1:24:45Speaker 4: Who is it?
- 1:24:46Speaker 3: We're going with the Cleveland Browns plus two and a
- 1:24:51Speaker 3: half against the New England Patriots.
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Depending on the Browns.
- 1:24:57Speaker 3: It's hideous. It is disgusting. And it makes me want
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: to puke. But yes, I am betting on the Browns
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: this week.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: How great would it be if Deshaun and Shador play?
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: Deshaun has like two interceptions and like 30 yards. And
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: Shador has like three touchdowns and 120 yards or something.
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: It would be great, Pat. And, you know, honestly, if
- 1:25:22Speaker 3: the Browns lose, like I really can't be that upset.
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: So we're going Browns plus two and a half.
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: If they lose, they lose.
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: A little reminder, McGingey's hot lead is now one and
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: two on the year. We're three seasons with a phenomenal
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: positive track record. So let's remind ourselves that it is
- 1:25:40Speaker 3: a season-long adventure and we're here for the long haul.
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: How do you feel in general, gambling question, about the
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: two and a half as opposed to the money line?
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: I'm not betting on the Browns to win.
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: I mean, that's a strange... blind to draw on the same.
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: In an ideal world, the Browns lose by two. So
- 1:26:02Speaker 3: the Browns lose and I win.
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: Well, let's take the Browns out of the equation. This
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: is just a general question. You see two teams. You're
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: very neutral towards, and the line is two and a
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: half or one and a half one way or the other.
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: Would you just prefer to bet money line at that point?
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: If you're betting on the underdog, it's a great question, Pat.
- 1:26:23Speaker 3: And I think the public answer is yes. And I
- 1:26:27Speaker 3: think the sharp answer is stick to the spreads.
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: Okay. I can live with that.
- 1:26:36Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: Fade the public. I think that's what we need to
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: know here. Do you have the answer of the week
- 1:26:41Speaker 3: for us?
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I do.
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: And I'm excited about this one. I'm not going to
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: give you any suspense here. Rick Seaback, 73 years old
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: from Bethel Park.
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: Is that his real name?
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: Legend. Rick Seaback. I've never asked myself that question.
- 1:26:58Speaker 11: Okay.
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: Pittsburgh legend, the voice of Pittsburgh for Pittsburgh. I used
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: to think growing up that Rick Seaback was like this
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: big national celebrity.
- 1:27:07Speaker 3: I know this guy.
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:27:10Speaker 6: You know Rick Seaback? He's a fucking man.
- 1:27:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I know this guy. Okay.
- 1:27:15Speaker 6: I used to think he was.
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: Like a big deal. Like I thought he was like,
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: you know, bigger than Al Roker when I was younger.
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: But he just loves Pittsburgh, man. He did that Kennywood.
- 1:27:25Speaker 3: Documentary thing, right?
- 1:27:26Speaker 10: Yes.
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: Yep, that's why I'm bringing it up. I watched some
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: clips of old Kennywood, my answer of the week, and
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: maybe we'll throw him an honorable mention. It was Joe
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: Williams from Bloomfield, who was the real-life Noah of Noah's Ark.
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: He maintained Noah's Ark for years, over 50 years, painted
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: the fucking shit by hand. He was the guy, right?
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: And Rick Seback came and did that Kennywood documentary. Oh,
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: Noah's Ark at Kennywood.
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: That's right.
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: Really highlighted him in his little documentary there. Yeah, Rick Seback,
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: his documentary is about eating hot dogs in Pittsburgh, sandwiches
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: in Pittsburgh, ice cream in Pittsburgh, Kennywood. He's just a
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: guy who loves life and loves Pittsburgh.
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: So this Kennywood one with the guy who painted the
- 1:28:19Speaker 3: Noah's Ark, how old is this?
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: It came out in 2003, but it's got clips older
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: than 2003.
- 1:28:27Speaker 3: Okay, because they did repaint Noah's Ark within the last
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: couple years.
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: Oh, this, yeah.
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: The guy, last I looked, this was a year or
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: two ago. He was still alive. Joe Williams from Bloomfield.
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: He was like 85. Let's see if Google's got anything
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: on Joe Williams. Joe Williams.
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: Kenny Wood.
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: Oh, dude.
- 1:28:58Speaker 4: He's passed.
- 1:28:59Speaker 7: Oh, no.
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: Fuck. Did he?
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: No, this is different, Joe Williams.
- 1:29:07Speaker 4: Oh, you fucking asshole.
- 1:29:08Speaker 3: This Joe Williams is from Carnegie. Worked for the railroads.
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: I mean, that sounds like a great Yenzer in and
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: of himself. July 5th, 2024. Joe Williams of Bloomfield, former
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: manager of Noah's Ark, 85 years old, retired. So two
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: years ago, he was still kickin'.
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: So, yeah, he probably helped in the repaint.
- 1:29:32Speaker 4: I'm telling you, he did.
- 1:29:34Speaker 3: Yeah, okay.
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: Yeah, okay.
- 1:29:36Speaker 6: He painted the whale, Mick Gingy, the whale.
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: No, no, no, but they repainted it is what I'm saying.
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: I don't know if he was involved in that job recently.
- 1:29:47Speaker 3: This is interesting because I'm looking at an obituary. This
- 1:29:52Speaker 3: is not the same guy. Okay, nice.
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: So, Joe Williams, Rick Seaback. Would be one of the
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: first results on Google. Oh, Joseph John Joe Williams, 70
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: of Carnegie. Yep, I see what you saw.
- 1:30:05Speaker 3: Yeah, that guy.
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: Rest in peace.
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: Yeah, this other guy does not have a last name Williams.
- 1:30:11Speaker 3: It's Joe Sacramento.
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: What? Yeah, so not the same guy. Obviously. Obviously, Pat.
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: Come on. Stick with it here. Italians.
- 1:30:23Speaker 3: If any of you know this Joe Williams guy, or...
- 1:30:27Speaker 3: Or if you know Rick Seaback, personally.
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: I don't know if we'll get Rick Seaback. That would
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: be so cool, man. He's a little too wholesome for
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: our program, too, I'd say.
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: Yeah, a little too loved.
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: We're kind of like... We wouldn't want to ruin his..
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: We're like Pittsburgh Runts. At the age of 75, ruin
- 1:30:43Speaker 3: his reputation. So, Rick, talk about the best pussy you've
- 1:30:47Speaker 3: ever made. Where's the finest Pittsburgh snatch in town? So
- 1:30:56Speaker 3: I've seen amusement parks. I've seen hot dogs. I've seen
- 1:30:59Speaker 3: ice cream stands. Tell me what titty bars I'm supposed
- 1:31:02Speaker 3: to go to, Rick. Where's the titty bar expose? Not
- 1:31:10Speaker 3: Club 412. Rest in peace, erotica, dude.
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: Amen.
- 1:31:16Speaker 3: Doobie, trivia question.
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: Alright. Hell of an episode, boys.
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: Alright.
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: Last week, we asked you what was the first musical
- 1:31:31Speaker 2: performance in Heinz Field? This was a question from Pat.
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: The answer is NSYNC.
- 1:31:37Speaker 10: 2001.
- 1:31:37Speaker 4: This week, we got a preseason.
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: Just another game for two.
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: Which Steelers running back earned the nickname preseason Bettis after
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: leading the entire NFL in preseason rushing yards in 2010,
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: but then finished the regular season with only 18 yards?
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: That's a good question.
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: That's a great question. I'm going to fire a guess
- 1:32:11Speaker 3: off now, and don't tell me if I'm right or wrong,
- 1:32:15Speaker 3: but I'm going to go Isaac Redmond. Don't tell me
- 1:32:19Speaker 3: if I'm right or wrong.
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: That's a good guess. Thank you. Do you have a thought?
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: Did this guy stick around for a little bit, McGingy?
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:32:29Speaker 2: I remember him being on the team.
- 1:32:30Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: That's all I needed to know. That's all I needed
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: to know. If it wasn't just like preseason and then,
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: you know, kind of see you later.
- 1:32:39Speaker 3: Probably a bigger dude, too.
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: To get a name like that? Yeah, probably. Absolutely.
- 1:32:46Speaker 3: Preseason bettis.
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: That doesn't.
- 1:32:47Speaker 3: It doesn't come lightly.
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: Oh, thanks, Doobie.
- 1:32:51Speaker 3: Great question.
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: Who was around the Mendenhall era? 2010. It was, yep.
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: It was Mendenhall era.
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: That was, yeah, the Super Bowl season against..
- 1:33:03Speaker 3: Now known terrorist, Rashard Mendenhall.
- 1:33:06Speaker 7: Yep.
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: I mean, he fumbled that one away.
- 1:33:11Speaker 3: He fumbled a post, an acting career away, too. You
- 1:33:16Speaker 3: know what he's... You remember what he said, right?
- 1:33:20Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:33:23Speaker 3: What a scumbag, dude. This guy said we shouldn't be
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: happy about Osama Bin Laden dying.
- 1:33:28Speaker 10: Yep.
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: What a piece of shit, dude.
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: He's a person, just like you and me. So is
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson. We shouldn't cheer Deshaun Watson getting hurt, just
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: like we shouldn't cheer Osama Bin Laden getting killed.
- 1:33:40Speaker 4: Oh, please, dude. Oh, please, dude.
- 1:33:45Speaker 6: Lock them up.
- 1:33:48Speaker 3: Lock them up.
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: Scumbags.
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: If you guys tweet us the correct answer, we will
- 1:33:57Speaker 3: send you a koozie. Keep an eye out for the
- 1:34:00Speaker 3: voicemail callers for next week. We got a special question
- 1:34:04Speaker 3: for all of our voicemail callers next week, as well
- 1:34:06Speaker 3: as an exciting guest coming on the show.
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: So stay tuned.
- 1:34:10Speaker 3: Go Steelers. Fuck the Bills. Pat, take us away.
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: I fucking love you guys. I'm going to kill myself
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: if you guys still listen. I don't know if you
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: can say that, Pat.
- 1:34:25Speaker 4: And can I get Pat from tarps off to the stage?
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: Pat from tarps off to the stage, please.
- 1:34:33Speaker 4: All right, Tequila Cowboy! How do you stand? I'm going
- 1:34:40Speaker 4: to sing a song about the Stellars. Turn it up, DJ.
- 1:34:46Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: Digins here, we're facing a problem.
- 1:34:52Speaker 4: We lost our head coach, Michael Tomlin.
- 1:34:56Speaker 3: I know it was time for him.
- 1:35:00Speaker 6: To go, but it still hurts.
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: When he tells me we'll find another, I'll tell you
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: what's the real onion cutter.
- 1:35:13Speaker 4: I'll miss Danny Smith and his.
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: Bubble gum, but who's the one? So I drink, and
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: I stink, and I pray.
- 1:35:26Speaker 4: Mike McCarty! It's Mike McCarty! Greenfield! Greenfield! He's from down Greenfield!
- 1:35:35Speaker 4: Mike McCarty! His name's Mike McCarty! From any sandwich! Double
- 1:35:41Speaker 4: meat and egg, please!
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: So I drink, and I smeg, Donna Dale's Mike McCarthy.
- 1:35:54Speaker 4: It's Mike McCarthy.
- 1:35:56Speaker 3: Greenville, Greenville.
- 1:35:58Speaker 4: From over there in Greenville.
- 1:36:01Speaker 3: I didn't care about anything but kids.
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: Lately I can't help but to ponder How long.
- 1:36:14Speaker 4: Must we wait here for Rogers?
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: I thought him and Big Mike were tight as hell Like.
- 1:36:23Speaker 4: Mikey's belt Rogers, Mason, Howard, I don't care. I want
- 1:36:32Speaker 4: a long party while Cam's here.
- 1:36:35Speaker 3: If Mike gets TJ a ring, I'll get on my.
- 1:36:39Speaker 6: Knees if that's his thing.
- 1:36:42Speaker 4: So I drank.
- 1:36:44Speaker 6: And I snick and I brained.
- 1:36:48Speaker 4: Mike McCartney! It's Mike McCartney! Greenfield! Greenfield! He's from Donnie Greenfield!
- 1:36:56Speaker 10: Mike McCartney!
- 1:36:58Speaker 4: His name's Mike McCartney! My man, he's sandwiched! Double meat
- 1:37:04Speaker 4: and eggs, please!
- 1:37:06Speaker 3: So I drink, and I smoke, Donnie Jagoffs! Mike McCartney.
- 1:37:15Speaker 4: It's Mike McCartney. Greenville, Greenville. That day from that Greenville.
- 1:37:22Speaker 9: I didn't care about anything but a Super Bowl.
- 1:37:45Speaker 6: You can't take me out of the scene. I've got
- 1:37:48Speaker 6: the spellers. They leave their address.
- 1:37:50Speaker 11: I can tell it.
- 1:37:51Speaker 6: Get your fucking hands off me. I did my fucking job.
- 1:37:54Speaker 4: I don't care. I don't care.
