- 0:22Speaker 4: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 0:57Speaker 5: Well, that is a sucker punch to the gonads.
- 1:09Speaker 2: What's up?
- 1:10Speaker 6: Welcome to Movie Meltdown. I am Brian.
- 1:12Speaker 7: I'm Marlena.
- 1:13Speaker 6: We are currently in.
- 1:15Speaker 8: The car on the way to Indianapolis for the once
- 1:19Speaker 8: again much anticipated Whorehound Weekend.
- 1:22Speaker 6: So, we're supposedly going to rendezvous with Misty and Jay.
- 1:26Speaker 6: We'll see how that goes.
- 1:27Speaker 7: Oh, I forgot to text Jay back.
- 1:29Speaker 9: It wasn't because I wasn't... I was intentionally not texting
- 1:33Speaker 9: him back, but it was because I fell back asleep.
- 1:38Speaker 6: Alrighty, so... This is another road trip episode, so.
- 1:43Speaker 8: Lord knows what we'll get on this little journey, but
- 1:46Speaker 8: we'll have to see.
- 1:48Speaker 6: Yeah. So, do we want to kick off the geek week?
- 1:52Speaker 2: Me?
- 1:52Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 1:54Speaker 6: I can do mine if you want.
- 1:55Speaker 7: Sure, you go ahead, because I have to gather my thoughts.
- 1:57Speaker 6: Okay, well, that's the thing.
- 1:58Speaker 8: I've been trying to figure mine out, because I've watched
- 2:01Speaker 8: a ton of stuff, but it's all been stuff related to.
- 2:03Speaker 6: I always like checking back on movies with.
- 2:06Speaker 8: People I was talking to today, so most of those
- 2:08Speaker 8: we'll go into later, so I'm not even going to
- 2:11Speaker 8: delve into those.
- 2:11Speaker 6: I was trying to think of anything I've watched that
- 2:13Speaker 6: wasn't one.
- 2:14Speaker 8: Of those, and not the last one I can think
- 2:17Speaker 8: of is I did watch the remake of Day of
- 2:20Speaker 8: the Dead.
- 2:21Speaker 6: Which Misty had brought up a long time ago, I think. But, um,
- 2:24Speaker 6: have you seen that one? It's the one with Mira Sorvino.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 2:27Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 2:27Speaker 7: I can't remember.
- 2:29Speaker 6: It's got, uh.
- 2:31Speaker 8: It's... Ving Rhames is in it, but not as the
- 2:33Speaker 8: same character. Which, again, makes no sense to me.
- 2:36Speaker 2: I don't even know.
- 2:37Speaker 6: Yeah, it's... It's so bad. I mean, it's just.
- 2:41Speaker 8: I don't understand exactly why they went from, like, the, like,
- 2:46Speaker 8: super high-end... you know, theatrical version of, you know, granted,
- 2:51Speaker 8: it's a remake, but that's one of the more impressive
- 2:54Speaker 8: remakes ever, possibly, is the Donuted End remake, so you get,
- 2:58Speaker 8: you know, Zack Snyder directing, you get a huge theatrical release,
- 3:01Speaker 8: you get real.
- 3:02Speaker 6: Stars, and then, The next one, which if you.
- 3:06Speaker 8: I guess they're still pretending like it's part of that
- 3:08Speaker 8: same arc.
- 3:09Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 3:10Speaker 8: I mean, it's nobody making it is involved other than
- 3:12Speaker 8: Kirk Greengrim's back in there. But, like, I don't know
- 3:16Speaker 8: how you drop down to a, like, straight-to-DVD release level
- 3:21Speaker 8: with Mirror Sorvino as your major star.
- 3:24Speaker 6: And it's just... Yeah. It's just such a step down
- 3:27Speaker 6: from last time.
- 3:28Speaker 8: Again, if you even want to consider it in that
- 3:30Speaker 8: same arc. I don't know that I do anyway, really.
- 3:33Speaker 7: But.
- 3:35Speaker 8: On top of that it's just bad I mean it's
- 3:38Speaker 8: it's mildly entertaining if you're a horror geek and you
- 3:40Speaker 8: just want to kill like an hour and a half
- 3:43Speaker 8: but um yeah for the most part it's And this
- 3:47Speaker 8: is the weirdest part, is the fact that, once again,
- 3:49Speaker 8: they credit at the beginning, like, story by George Romero
- 3:53Speaker 8: or whatever, because if you're looking for an actual remake
- 3:56Speaker 8: of Day of the Dead, it has nothing to do
- 3:59Speaker 8: with that one. I mean, other than there's zombies, and
- 4:02Speaker 8: the military's.
- 4:03Speaker 6: Kind of involved, like, in the original Day of the Dead.
- 4:05Speaker 8: But other than that, nothing like it in any way, shape,
- 4:09Speaker 8: or form, really.
- 4:11Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't know, it's just....
- 4:14Speaker 8: The effects are bad. Most of the characters are just stupid, which, again, happens.
- 4:20Speaker 6: A lot in horror movies, but.
- 4:22Speaker 8: And, I mean, there's one or two little moments where
- 4:24Speaker 8: it's actually kind of an interesting setup, or, you know,
- 4:29Speaker 8: just like there's a whole scene in, like, a ductwork system,
- 4:34Speaker 8: and you've got a zombie chasing you through the ductwork.
- 4:36Speaker 6: That's actually kind of got a tense moment in there somewhere.
- 4:40Speaker 8: So, I mean, there's moments where it could have been
- 4:41Speaker 8: turned into.
- 4:43Speaker 6: A good movie, but, yeah, it just falls so flat,
- 4:46Speaker 6: it's not even funny.
- 4:47Speaker 10: I don't know.
- 4:51Speaker 6: That's... Do you need the heat up?
- 4:55Speaker 1: Huh?
- 4:55Speaker 6: It's really hot.
- 4:56Speaker 7: I had to turn the defroster on.
- 4:58Speaker 6: We're going to see.
- 5:01Speaker 9: Our love and desire to see Randy will get us
- 5:05Speaker 9: there even if our.
- 5:06Speaker 7: Windows are fogged up and can't see the road. We're coming!
- 5:11Speaker 7: We're coming!
- 5:12Speaker 2: Yep.
- 5:14Speaker 8: Oh, other than that, yeah, I mean, I went for
- 5:18Speaker 8: my major geek activity last night, but we'll get into
- 5:22Speaker 8: that later because I did go and see Sucker Punch.
- 5:26Speaker 6: So, we'll go full-fledged into that later. So that's pretty
- 5:30Speaker 6: much it. That and just prepping stuff to get ready
- 5:32Speaker 6: to head to the show this week. That's most of
- 5:35Speaker 6: what I've been doing.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Um, well.
- 5:39Speaker 9: And last week I watched May, which is maybe one
- 5:42Speaker 9: of my favorite horror movies of all time.
- 5:44Speaker 6: It is awesome.
- 5:45Speaker 7: It is quite awesome.
- 5:47Speaker 9: And as you all well know, I have a huge
- 5:50Speaker 9: crush on Jeremy Sisto, which Brian and Misty like to
- 5:53Speaker 9: call Suck and Blow.
- 5:54Speaker 6: Suck and Blow.
- 5:55Speaker 9: Because he was Suck and Blow in Clueless. Actually, his
- 5:57Speaker 9: name was like Elton or Elston or something like that.
- 5:59Speaker 6: Yeah, it is Elton, but for some reason Suck and
- 6:02Speaker 6: Blow was funnier.
- 6:02Speaker 7: Yeah, it is funny.
- 6:04Speaker 9: But, I mean, I just don't understand why Misty is
- 6:06Speaker 9: so grossed out by him. He's tall, and he's dark,
- 6:09Speaker 9: and he's handsome, and he has a deep voice. And, like,
- 6:11Speaker 9: what more.
- 6:11Speaker 7: Could you want?
- 6:13Speaker 6: Angela Bettis. That's what I want.
- 6:15Speaker 8: And she's just weird yeah but she's awesome weird she's
- 6:19Speaker 8: like cute weird.
- 6:20Speaker 9: It was very that was the thing about that movie
- 6:23Speaker 9: she's so fucking creepy I know but it's still cute
- 6:27Speaker 9: and charming it is I can see why he would've
- 6:29Speaker 9: like fallen for that a little bit and then immediately
- 6:34Speaker 9: been like whoa yeah I'm totally on his side in
- 6:38Speaker 9: that movie you know she's in that movie I definitely
- 6:41Speaker 9: did not feel sorry for her at all by the
- 6:43Speaker 9: end it's just like um Get better social skills. Not
- 6:47Speaker 9: really anyone's fault but your own.
- 6:50Speaker 6: Nice.
- 6:51Speaker 9: I mean, as a person who struggles with being social,
- 6:55Speaker 9: I can turn on the charm when needed.
- 6:57Speaker 7: I usually just feel no need to do so.
- 7:01Speaker 6: I don't know. I feel for it. I'm socially awkward
- 7:05Speaker 6: and I want to kill people. So, I mean, you know,
- 7:07Speaker 6: it happens.
- 7:10Speaker 7: Yeah, I guess so.
- 7:11Speaker 2: I mean.
- 7:13Speaker 9: And I also started watching this show, which I'm surprised
- 7:16Speaker 9: at how awesome it is. America's done a remake on Syfy,
- 7:22Speaker 9: as you will, Being Human.
- 7:25Speaker 6: Yeah, I've been watching that one.
- 7:26Speaker 7: Yeah, and the American one I've seen bits and pieces of,
- 7:31Speaker 7: and it's okay. The British one is amazing.
- 7:34Speaker 6: That's what I've heard.
- 7:35Speaker 7: It's hilarious, and it's just so well done.
- 7:38Speaker 9: It's not like there's amazing special effects or anything, but
- 7:40Speaker 9: just the stories are fantastic. Like, I've been super duper
- 7:44Speaker 9: into that, and I really like it. So, that's what
- 7:49Speaker 9: I've been doing.
- 7:50Speaker 8: Yeah, I have not watched the British one yet, but
- 7:53Speaker 8: well before there even was an American one, I had
- 7:55Speaker 8: people saying, oh, yeah, I've seen this show.
- 7:57Speaker 6: You know, it's actually really cool, and.
- 7:59Speaker 8: It's, you know, It's still such a funny idea if
- 8:02Speaker 8: you actually stop and break it down.
- 8:04Speaker 6: It is.
- 8:04Speaker 8: It's such a silly idea, but... Especially for the fact
- 8:08Speaker 8: that they almost take the show kind of seriously.
- 8:10Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 8:10Speaker 6: At least the American one now has become very, like,
- 8:12Speaker 6: melodrama or something.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Yeah, it is.
- 8:15Speaker 6: It's funny how.
- 8:17Speaker 8: What a silly idea it is in its essence.
- 8:19Speaker 6: And they turn it into a pretty serious tone of
- 8:22Speaker 6: a show.
- 8:22Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 8:23Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean, the British one has a pretty serious
- 8:26Speaker 9: tone as well, but it has a lot more humor
- 8:28Speaker 9: in it, I think.
- 8:29Speaker 7: Like, I haven't really noticed... There's a little bit of
- 8:31Speaker 7: humor in.
- 8:32Speaker 9: The American one, but I think I'm just really partial
- 8:36Speaker 9: to British humor.
- 8:36Speaker 7: A lot of people don't get it, but I'm one
- 8:38Speaker 7: of those people. It's exceedingly funny to me. I don't
- 8:42Speaker 7: know what it is.
- 8:43Speaker 6: I'm very hit and miss, and always have been.
- 8:45Speaker 8: There's ones I think are awesome, and I totally get,
- 8:49Speaker 8: and I'm right on board with, and there's other stuff
- 8:51Speaker 8: I'm like, yeah, I can see where you'd have a following,
- 8:53Speaker 8: but I just don't buy into it.
- 8:55Speaker 7: Yeah. I'm hit and miss with my British show.
- 8:59Speaker 9: I mean, I've pretty much loved every British show I've
- 9:02Speaker 9: sat down to watch.
- 9:03Speaker 7: All the comedies.
- 9:04Speaker 9: I've not really tried to watch any of the dramas
- 9:07Speaker 9: or anything like that. But, you know, it's like the
- 9:09Speaker 9: only one I can't really get into, which is probably
- 9:12Speaker 9: the biggest one of all, is Red Dwarf. And, I mean,
- 9:16Speaker 9: I've watched maybe one episode of it, so I feel
- 9:19Speaker 9: like that's not really an accurate.
- 9:21Speaker 8: I've seen a couple. It's been a long time, but
- 9:23Speaker 8: I've watched a couple. That was one of those I
- 9:26Speaker 8: probably could have watched a little more. Maybe I'm just
- 9:28Speaker 8: an hardcore geek, but I like the fact that they
- 9:33Speaker 8: were so self-aware of all the sci-fi shows.
- 9:35Speaker 6: They were making fun of.
- 9:36Speaker 8: They were just really smart about the way they were
- 9:39Speaker 8: making fun of it. They weren't going about it clumsily. Like,
- 9:42Speaker 8: everything was so plotted out and specific as to what
- 9:45Speaker 8: they were making fun of, and they were just, like,
- 9:47Speaker 8: really well-versed in their sci-fi geekery before they even started
- 9:51Speaker 8: that show. So, again, I haven't watched much of it,
- 9:54Speaker 8: but what I've seen, yeah, it was one of them
- 9:56Speaker 8: that I probably would have watched more than a lot
- 9:58Speaker 8: of other BBC shows.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:59Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 10:00Speaker 9: I mean that's that's how i feel but it's like
- 10:02Speaker 9: really popular and i think if i maybe sat down
- 10:04Speaker 9: and watched more of it i would get into it
- 10:06Speaker 9: but i kind of slipped through most of the one
- 10:10Speaker 9: or two episodes that i watched and i was just
- 10:12Speaker 9: like oh for.
- 10:12Speaker 7: The love of god can we watch something else.
- 10:16Speaker 9: I just kind of like, it's really strange because I
- 10:19Speaker 9: don't like tense or awkward situations. Not that I ever would,
- 10:23Speaker 9: but I can't watch Maury Povich. It's just like, oh,
- 10:26Speaker 9: it's too, it's a gut-wrenching tense. It's like, is it
- 10:29Speaker 9: going to be the father? Is this guy going to
- 10:31Speaker 9: be the father? Or is it going to be one
- 10:33Speaker 9: of these seven guys?
- 10:35Speaker 7: Oh, I can't stand not knowing.
- 10:37Speaker 9: And I just, I don't like situations where people are like,
- 10:41Speaker 9: arguing or like almost physical violence is way easier for
- 10:45Speaker 9: me to tolerate than like just like uncomfortable situations or
- 10:50Speaker 9: like Like, arguments that are, like, not loud yelling.
- 10:56Speaker 7: Just, like, little bickering. Those are just so hard for
- 10:59Speaker 7: me to watch.
- 10:59Speaker 10: I don't know.
- 11:00Speaker 8: I'm always impressed when somebody can recreate one of those
- 11:04Speaker 8: on screen.
- 11:05Speaker 6: Yeah. Like, I.
- 11:06Speaker 8: Again, if it's, like, mediocre done, I'm just like.
- 11:08Speaker 6: Eh, this is melodrama.
- 11:09Speaker 2: I don't like it.
- 11:10Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 11:10Speaker 8: But when there's, like, one that's convincingly good that I'm
- 11:12Speaker 8: just like... ow, that was painful to watch. I have
- 11:17Speaker 8: to give you credit. It may not be an enjoyable experience.
- 11:20Speaker 8: It may not be one I want to go back
- 11:21Speaker 8: right away and watch. But I'm way more impressed with
- 11:24Speaker 8: somebody who can convincingly recreate the tense and uncomfortable situation
- 11:30Speaker 8: that those kind of fights or arguments become.
- 11:33Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 11:35Speaker 9: I think I've referenced this before, but who's afraid of
- 11:39Speaker 9: Virginia Woolf?
- 11:40Speaker 7: I could not... watched that.
- 11:42Speaker 9: Movie it made me so uncomfortable worse than anything I've
- 11:45Speaker 9: ever watched in my life I don't know it was
- 11:48Speaker 9: just the tone of that movie I was just like
- 11:50Speaker 9: oh my god yeah but like that's a lot of
- 11:54Speaker 9: British shows so it's strange to me almost that I'm
- 11:56Speaker 9: so into them because like I mean like the British
- 12:00Speaker 9: office that's just pretty much what it was you know
- 12:03Speaker 9: but like.
- 12:04Speaker 7: They were all just so good at it it was
- 12:08Speaker 7: oh and off that subject I got around to watching
- 12:12Speaker 7: Winter's Bone.
- 12:14Speaker 6: Ah, there we go.
- 12:15Speaker 9: And, you know, at first I was like, this is
- 12:17Speaker 9: kind of a slow movie. I wasn't sure if I
- 12:18Speaker 9: would like it. By the end, I was like, oh,
- 12:21Speaker 9: my God.
- 12:22Speaker 4: Yep.
- 12:22Speaker 7: That movie was amazing. I mean, one of the best
- 12:25Speaker 7: movies I've seen in a long time.
- 12:26Speaker 8: That's what I'm saying.
- 12:27Speaker 6: I mean, it really is definitely, like, top five of
- 12:30Speaker 6: last year. And I haven't seen most of the movies
- 12:32Speaker 6: of last year.
- 12:32Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 12:33Speaker 7: I don't have to to know that, you know?
- 12:36Speaker 8: Yeah, anything I've ranked of the last year, I'm like.
- 12:38Speaker 6: Yeah, that's the best movie I've seen last year.
- 12:40Speaker 8: Because I didn't see that many movies of the new
- 12:42Speaker 8: variety last year.
- 12:43Speaker 6: So that's the best thing I've seen last year.
- 12:45Speaker 9: I mean, I was just blown away by everything in
- 12:49Speaker 9: that movie. It's like Jennifer Lawrence was amazing, of course.
- 12:52Speaker 9: She was nominated for an Oscar. But I don't know.
- 12:55Speaker 9: I never bothered to research it. I don't know if
- 12:58Speaker 9: it was actually filmed. in people's houses, or if they
- 13:02Speaker 9: had sets or something like that.
- 13:03Speaker 8: I think a lot of it is, because I know
- 13:05Speaker 8: they even brought in some of the other actors, like
- 13:07Speaker 8: the little kids, her sister. brother and sister are actual
- 13:10Speaker 8: like local kids from that area like I don't think
- 13:13Speaker 8: they were even professional actors I think they wanted authentic
- 13:16Speaker 8: to the point of getting real people involved yeah.
- 13:19Speaker 9: Cause I mean there was just it was so authentic
- 13:22Speaker 9: you know when I was watching I was like there's
- 13:24Speaker 9: no way that can be a set you know it's
- 13:25Speaker 9: just like down to the little detail of like how
- 13:29Speaker 9: many magnets they have on their fridge and all the
- 13:31Speaker 9: clutter on their countertop it's just like this is it
- 13:34Speaker 9: was just like real and that was what made the movie, like,
- 13:39Speaker 9: so hard to watch, you know?
- 13:40Speaker 6: Like, that.
- 13:42Speaker 9: Like, it was very real. And, like, there was no...
- 13:46Speaker 9: Did you notice that Patty the Daytime Hooker was in it?
- 13:48Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 13:49Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 13:50Speaker 7: And the people were just.
- 13:52Speaker 9: And, I mean, not that this is even an issue,
- 13:54Speaker 9: but this kind of, like, added to the film.
- 13:56Speaker 7: The people were just so fucking ugly. I mean, it was, like,
- 14:01Speaker 7: the worst meth-mouth hooker's... And that's what they needed for
- 14:05Speaker 7: the movie. That's what it was about. So it worked.
- 14:07Speaker 9: But it was just like, oh, my God, these people
- 14:09Speaker 9: are amazing. I totally believe that she's on meth.
- 14:13Speaker 8: It's frighteningly accurate. I mean, these are people you're going
- 14:16Speaker 8: to run into out there.
- 14:17Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Easily.
- 14:19Speaker 6: And ten times over. Yeah. Especially in those areas. You're
- 14:22Speaker 6: just going to see a lot of scary people out there.
- 14:25Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 14:25Speaker 9: And there's just, I don't know what it is, but
- 14:29Speaker 9: like certain movies, I think, it's not even that I
- 14:32Speaker 9: relate to it, but it's just like a certain movies
- 14:34Speaker 9: just like strike a chord in you. And just the part,
- 14:38Speaker 9: the part in that movie where she goes back to, uh,
- 14:43Speaker 9: I can't remember his name, but the old guy's house
- 14:47Speaker 9: and the woman comes out and like beats her in
- 14:50Speaker 9: the face with a coffee mug and throws hot coffee
- 14:52Speaker 9: on her and they drag her into a barn and
- 14:55Speaker 9: she wakes up and she's like, well, I guess you're
- 14:57Speaker 9: going to have to kill me. It's just like, That
- 15:00Speaker 9: was just almost, like, a painful scene to watch because you,
- 15:03Speaker 9: at that point, you realize, like, this is a girl
- 15:05Speaker 9: whose life is shit. You know, it's just like, sometimes
- 15:09Speaker 9: I might think I'm having a bad day. Sometimes I
- 15:10Speaker 9: might think my life sucks. But this girl's life is shit.
- 15:15Speaker 9: And she has nothing to lose. You know, it's just like,
- 15:18Speaker 9: I've got to do this or I can die.
- 15:21Speaker 6: Whatever.
- 15:21Speaker 7: You know, like.
- 15:22Speaker 6: At the same time, that's what I took from it.
- 15:24Speaker 8: It's like she's, you know, it kind of brings that universal.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:29Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 15:29Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 15:50Speaker 6: It all is kind of your own existence.
- 15:53Speaker 8: It's how you live your life. Even if you want
- 15:56Speaker 8: better out of it, you realize this is what you have.
- 15:58Speaker 8: This is what you have to deal with. That's what
- 16:01Speaker 8: I thought was really amazing is how much it kind
- 16:04Speaker 8: of gives that perspective that each person is dealing.
- 16:08Speaker 6: With their own little reality there and hers isn't. seems
- 16:11Speaker 6: scary and horrible but at the same.
- 16:14Speaker 8: Time she's fighting to keep it that's the best thing
- 16:16Speaker 8: she has is you know being able to have her
- 16:19Speaker 8: land and have her family and it's like that's all
- 16:22Speaker 8: she has in the world and they're trying to take
- 16:23Speaker 8: that away from.
- 16:25Speaker 9: Her you know at one point I was just like
- 16:26Speaker 9: why doesn't she just let them take that stupid fucking
- 16:29Speaker 9: house she could get welfare I was like she'd get
- 16:32Speaker 9: welfare she could get section 8 she'd have a pretty
- 16:34Speaker 9: sweet life you know like her mom would get disability
- 16:39Speaker 9: you know Just move to.
- 16:41Speaker 6: A ghetto city somewhere.
- 16:42Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 16:42Speaker 7: She'd be fine. That's what I was thinking.
- 16:46Speaker 9: I'm like, you know, you wouldn't have to chop wood
- 16:48Speaker 9: all day and you could not have to rely on
- 16:52Speaker 9: the neighbors for groceries because you could get food stamps.
- 16:54Speaker 7: I don't know. I did think that, but then.
- 16:57Speaker 6: Again, I think there's also a.
- 16:58Speaker 8: Well, with more people, and also people that I would
- 17:01Speaker 8: almost have a little more respect for, there's also a pride.
- 17:05Speaker 7: Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I guess it was pride.
- 17:06Speaker 8: And that's probably why she wouldn't, because she actually seems like,
- 17:08Speaker 8: in part, a good person.
- 17:10Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 17:10Speaker 8: A person with pride and dignity, and she would not
- 17:13Speaker 8: want to.
- 17:14Speaker 6: Leech off the government. Yeah, but... Like, a big portion
- 17:16Speaker 6: of our country does now.
- 17:17Speaker 15: Yeah, but.
- 17:19Speaker 9: I thought that, and then I was like, no, she
- 17:21Speaker 9: readily accepted handouts from neighbors and things like that, you know?
- 17:25Speaker 6: But that's, I don't know, that's kind of different.
- 17:27Speaker 8: Because, I mean, and it, again, it speaks so well
- 17:29Speaker 8: of the movie that everything is handled by these little communities.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:32Speaker 8: And it's like, they, even the law, I mean, they
- 17:35Speaker 8: take everything into their own hands.
- 17:37Speaker 6: So it is almost like.
- 17:38Speaker 8: we're taking care of you now, but later, you know,
- 17:40Speaker 8: something horrible happened to us and you'll help us.
- 17:42Speaker 6: I think, I mean, it wasn't.
- 17:44Speaker 8: Like a total handout. I think it is more of
- 17:47Speaker 8: just that system of helping each other.
- 17:49Speaker 6: And that system of.
- 17:49Speaker 7: Neighbors helping neighbors.
- 17:51Speaker 8: Yeah, of taking care of your own, which is what
- 17:53Speaker 8: really comes into play later, that these little systems at
- 17:55Speaker 8: work take care of their own first and foremost regardless.
- 17:59Speaker 6: So, yeah. And again, I mean, just that I.
- 18:03Speaker 8: I've said it the last time, but yeah, Jennifer Lawrence,
- 18:05Speaker 8: I think it's such a massively layered performance, especially for
- 18:10Speaker 8: a girl who just started acting.
- 18:11Speaker 6: A few years ago.
- 18:12Speaker 8: I mean, to be that impressive, like just the fact
- 18:15Speaker 8: that at times she is a little kid and she's
- 18:17Speaker 8: like laying on the bread with her friend talking like
- 18:19Speaker 8: she's a teenager.
- 18:20Speaker 6: And the other time, she is.
- 18:21Speaker 8: Just putting adults in their place. She will just shut
- 18:24Speaker 8: people down with her, like, hard-ass comments. And I'm just like,
- 18:28Speaker 8: to be able to play each one of those levels,
- 18:30Speaker 8: you know, it's like that's, it's an impressive performance.
- 18:33Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 18:34Speaker 9: It was, it was very, it was an excellent movie.
- 18:37Speaker 9: You know, and it was one of the movies that
- 18:38Speaker 9: I never really even thought I'd want to see. But
- 18:41Speaker 9: it was kind of like a red box. Do I
- 18:44Speaker 9: want to watch.
- 18:45Speaker 7: Air Bud 9 or.
- 18:47Speaker 9: Winter's Bone, or some stupid movie with Leonardo DiCaprio, who
- 18:51Speaker 9: I hate. So, I mean, it was Winter's Bone, and
- 18:54Speaker 9: I'm really glad that I watched it.
- 18:56Speaker 7: I mean, it was amazing. Yep, definitely.
- 18:59Speaker 6: I'm working on that one. Jennifer Lawrence.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:02Speaker 6: She'd be sitting in with us.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I know.
- 19:07Speaker 7: I can pretend like we're cousins or something. Like, don't
- 19:10Speaker 7: you remember me? I'm your cousin, twice removed, and you're...
- 19:15Speaker 7: mother's side I don't know I don't know how that
- 19:18Speaker 7: works I don't even know.
- 19:19Speaker 12: What once removed means honestly I don't think I ever
- 19:22Speaker 12: officially figured it out I don't think I want to
- 19:25Speaker 12: there's so many things that I'm just like I don't
- 19:27Speaker 12: know the answer to that and then I'm like why
- 19:29Speaker 12: don't I google that and I'm just like because by.
- 19:31Speaker 7: The time I pull out my phone I just don't
- 19:34Speaker 7: care anymore.
- 19:37Speaker 9: You know, like, yesterday someone asked me, what exactly is
- 19:40Speaker 9: a caper? And I was like, you know, I've wondered
- 19:42Speaker 9: that a lot, but it's not really important enough for
- 19:45Speaker 9: me to, like, pull out my phone and Google.
- 19:48Speaker 6: They're just peas, I'm sorry.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Yeah I look at them they're peas.
- 19:54Speaker 9: Salty peas salty pea yeah I mean I don't know
- 20:01Speaker 9: strange thing about knowledge in the internet now I feel
- 20:05Speaker 9: like there's no reason for me to not know everything
- 20:09Speaker 9: If I don't know it, I can look it up.
- 20:10Speaker 6: You do have the entire universe at your disposal. Yeah, exactly.
- 20:13Speaker 8: It's kind of frightening how much knowledge we have accessible
- 20:17Speaker 8: and yet use little of.
- 20:19Speaker 7: I know, yeah.
- 20:20Speaker 9: It's like, it's amazing to me that people are so
- 20:22Speaker 9: much dumber now. It's just like, everything you need to know,
- 20:26Speaker 9: you carry the internet in your back pocket.
- 20:29Speaker 14: Yep.
- 20:30Speaker 8: It's frightening actually yeah it is it's.
- 20:32Speaker 9: Very frightening it's just like you get lost in the
- 20:35Speaker 9: woods and that's the thing like if your phone dies
- 20:39Speaker 9: and you're lost in the woods you're fucked because how
- 20:42Speaker 9: are you going to google how to make a campfire
- 20:43Speaker 9: how are you going to google which berries are poisonous.
- 20:47Speaker 8: People don't know how to actually live they only know how.
- 20:50Speaker 12: To virtually live exactly that's why I like to take
- 20:54Speaker 12: that knowledge and keep it with me.
- 20:57Speaker 6: I just try not to know anything that way I
- 20:58Speaker 6: don't have to worry about losing it.
- 21:01Speaker 7: That's all I have as far as gateways to go, though.
- 21:04Speaker 7: All right.
- 21:04Speaker 6: Anything else we need to pass.
- 21:06Speaker 8: Along between here and Indy?
- 21:07Speaker 7: I don't think so.
- 21:09Speaker 8: If we find something interesting at a rest stop or something,
- 21:11Speaker 8: we'll let you guys know. But otherwise, I guess we
- 21:13Speaker 8: will check in once we get up to Indy.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Sweet.
- 21:15Speaker 7: Oh, can we eat at the Huddle House? Just kidding.
- 21:20Speaker 7: But that would be kind of cool. No lie.
- 22:09Speaker 3: Commission time. If leaving, please replace your in-car speaker before

- 23:26Speaker 1: Hi i'm misty randy's here too hey it's me randy
- 23:29Speaker 1: hi and jay's here hi and marlena.
- 23:34Speaker 8: But if nothing else i wanted to at least give
- 23:36Speaker 8: the uh we did just recently present you with the
- 23:38Speaker 8: mace jay gave you his uh his awesomely handcrafted mace
- 23:43Speaker 8: so what was your response to.
- 23:45Speaker 16: That um a religious epiphany that Now no man will
- 23:50Speaker 16: stand before me, no injustice that I am exposed to
- 23:55Speaker 16: will I brook.
- 23:57Speaker 11: Vengeance will be mine, not saith the Lord, saith Randy.
- 24:02Speaker 17: Because your average CSI kind of situation, they're not going
- 24:07Speaker 17: to be looking for mace-based weapons.
- 24:09Speaker 6: Sure, you would confuse them.
- 24:11Speaker 2: It would definitely be blunt force trauma.
- 24:13Speaker 5: Right, right.
- 24:14Speaker 2: But they'd be confused by what?
- 24:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:17Speaker 17: So if I do have to use it, I've already
- 24:19Speaker 17: picked out the spot under the stairs where I can
- 24:21Speaker 17: hide it. I promise that I won't go out on
- 24:24Speaker 17: a rampage and wind up having to fill lots of graves.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Did you clean all the coconut residue off so they
- 24:30Speaker 1: can't trace that back to our backyard?
- 24:31Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 24:32Speaker 2: I cleaned the coconut residue off.
- 24:33Speaker 11: I didn't know coconuts were native to your backyard.
- 24:36Speaker 1: I know the splattering remains that are still about. That's
- 24:40Speaker 1: pretty fucking awesome. The shrapnel from the coconut almost took
- 24:43Speaker 1: me out. It scared the bejesus out of me. I
- 24:45Speaker 1: almost dropped the camera.
- 24:46Speaker 2: No, we're doing it sort of backwards. We did mention
- 24:48Speaker 2: it in the last.
- 24:49Speaker 8: couple of episodes but do we need to give the
- 24:51Speaker 8: back story on why there was a mace.
- 24:56Speaker 2: I don't know I can't remember how do we talk
- 25:00Speaker 2: about maces how did that even get started.
- 25:03Speaker 11: I don't know I don't remember either magic just happens.
- 25:05Speaker 1: He was going to give you stuff so you were
- 25:08Speaker 1: like alright I'm going to make you a mace I.
- 25:09Speaker 8: Think it's because you were in the same Facebook page
- 25:12Speaker 8: thing remember if you're in the top five.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Whoever's in that oh you're in the zombie zombie killing.
- 25:17Speaker 11: Group oh yeah okay yeah I had a good team, too.
- 25:22Speaker 11: I lucked out.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Maybe I already got eaten by zombies because I wasn't
- 25:26Speaker 1: on the team.
- 25:27Speaker 2: It changes all the time. You left me behind? Every time.
- 25:29Speaker 2: I didn't leave you behind. Mine changes all the time.
- 25:33Speaker 2: I'd have to include Misty, though. She's a good shop.
- 25:36Speaker 2: She's a lot better shop than I am.
- 25:38Speaker 18: I am, dude.
- 25:39Speaker 11: Why does that not surprise me and frighten me emotionally?
- 25:43Speaker 1: I threatened to shoot a girl because you're a wise man.
- 25:45Speaker 1: She said she was going to kidnap me. She's going
- 25:47Speaker 1: to sneak into my house, kidnap me, and drive me
- 25:49Speaker 1: to the beach and feed me to sharks. This girl
- 25:53Speaker 1: at work. Sometimes when I feed her to the pigs first,
- 25:55Speaker 1: she's like, well, oh yeah, well, I'll feed you to
- 25:57Speaker 1: the sharks. I'm like, that's just the dumbest fucking thing
- 25:59Speaker 1: I've ever heard. Where are you going to get a
- 26:00Speaker 1: fucking shark?
- 26:02Speaker 2: She's at the ocean.
- 26:03Speaker 1: I'm like, where's the ocean? Is it anywhere fucking near us?
- 26:07Speaker 1: She's like, I'll come in your house and kidnap you
- 26:09Speaker 1: and drive you to the ocean. I'm like, bitch, you know,
- 26:12Speaker 1: I'm breaking my house. Try to kidnap me. I got
- 26:13Speaker 1: five handguns by my bed. Let's see you try that.
- 26:17Speaker 1: I will shoot your ass dead.
- 26:18Speaker 2: You're dating the fucking Punisher.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Oh, he's way hotter than that guy.
- 26:23Speaker 6: I just like that the feeding her pigs was totally normal.
- 26:28Speaker 8: But it's completely outlandish that she feed you pigs.
- 26:30Speaker 1: At least, hey, no, there are at least pigs in Kentucky,
- 26:33Speaker 1: you know?
- 26:33Speaker 7: There are, there are.
- 26:34Speaker 6: They're down the street from here, right?
- 26:35Speaker 2: At my, uh, my boss's.
- 26:36Speaker 6: It at least makes sense.
- 26:37Speaker 1: If you've seen Spanish, it makes sense, for God's sakes.
- 26:39Speaker 8: There you go.
- 26:40Speaker 1: Alright. Sharks makes no goddamn sense.
- 26:43Speaker 6: I've seen dogs.
- 26:44Speaker 1: There's no sharks in Kentucky.
- 26:47Speaker 17: If you want to kill people with sharks, the first
- 26:49Speaker 17: thing you've got to do is schedule a fucking regatta.
- 26:52Speaker 11: Because that's what brings them.
- 26:54Speaker 2: She might be able to take you to Newport.
- 26:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Anyway, I was going to shoot her ass.
- 26:57Speaker 7: Or Spring Break.
- 26:58Speaker 11: Yeah, Spring Break.
- 27:00Speaker 7: Were you guys serious? Was this a serious quarrel?
- 27:02Speaker 1: That was serious. She thought I was joking. She thinks
- 27:04Speaker 1: we're friends.
- 27:05Speaker 6: Yeah, what little I.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Know of most of her encounters, I go like.
- 27:08Speaker 14: She didn't.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Have the fear she should have.
- 27:13Speaker 2: I would shoot her in her face. I didn't like her.
- 27:14Speaker 6: She's like a poodle.
- 27:15Speaker 1: She acts like a chihuahua.
- 27:18Speaker 2: She's like.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 27:22Speaker 2: We got started talking about the zombie team.
- 27:25Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Somehow Randy and I got talking about something.
- 27:29Speaker 13: What was it?
- 27:29Speaker 2: Movies or something like that?
- 27:30Speaker 19: Mm-hmm.
- 27:31Speaker 2: You're going to make me a copy of some movies,
- 27:34Speaker 2: and I told him I would trade him a mace.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Legally copied of.
- 27:38Speaker 8: You buy your movies from a store where you pay
- 27:42Speaker 8: tax and full price.
- 27:44Speaker 11: For the government, yes.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Yes.
- 27:48Speaker 17: So the bottom line is I'm now prepared for any apocalypse.
- 27:51Speaker 11: Because I'm not reloading anything, I'm not a shell guy, so.
- 27:57Speaker 11: I can go out and I can manually service anybody.
- 28:00Speaker 2: That I need to.
- 28:02Speaker 6: Manually service.
- 28:04Speaker 11: And we need to talk Jay into going into business
- 28:07Speaker 11: for himself.
- 28:08Speaker 1: You already got stopped by somebody in the showroom asking
- 28:12Speaker 1: if he had a table or a website.
- 28:15Speaker 20: So everybody at home.
- 28:15Speaker 4: Put in your orders right now.
- 28:18Speaker 6: Start putting the pre-orders in so you can get the material.
- 28:20Speaker 11: You could get genuine movie meltdown merchandise.
- 28:25Speaker 6: Nobody wants that.
- 28:27Speaker 1: Maybe you have to, like, sharpie your movie meltdown on
- 28:30Speaker 1: the handle of the weapon.
- 28:33Speaker 6: I wish they'd only give you the weapon if you buy.
- 28:35Speaker 8: A movie meltdown.
- 28:38Speaker 2: I'll make you one, but... Well, the confused look on
- 28:42Speaker 2: guys at work was the best thing. What you making?
- 28:46Speaker 14: Mace.
- 28:47Speaker 12: What's that?
- 28:47Speaker 6: Just don't worry about it.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Is that a park for your truck?
- 28:51Speaker 10: No.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Your answer should be, let me show you.
- 29:24Speaker 13: Mace, the first choice in weaponry for any apocalypse.
- 29:31Speaker 15: People of Eternia, I stand before the great eye of
- 29:35Speaker 15: the podosphere, chosen by destiny by the powers of.
- 29:40Speaker 7: of Lipson.
- 29:42Speaker 15: This inevitable moment will transpire before your eyes even as
- 29:47Speaker 15: He-Man himself bears witness to it now I baby Skeletor
- 29:52Speaker 15: am master of the action attraction action attraction your home

- 30:07Speaker 15: or search for Action Attraction in iTunes.
- 30:25Speaker 4: All right, so we're here in the hallway lurking outside
- 30:28Speaker 4: of the Feldman room.
- 30:29Speaker 2: We're stalking the Feldman. We're also here with Metal Mikey.
- 30:33Speaker 6: Hey, how's it going?
- 30:35Speaker 2: Awesome.
- 30:35Speaker 4: He wanted to come stalking with us. So, aside from
- 30:40Speaker 4: the stalking, do you want to tell the other giant
- 30:42Speaker 4: news that just happened?
- 30:43Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Apparently the guy, he used to be Corey, or he
- 30:48Speaker 1: used to be Corey, yeah, Haim's manager, who's now Corey
- 30:51Speaker 1: Feldman's manager.
- 30:52Speaker 2: He's both of those, I guess.
- 30:52Speaker 1: I don't know if he's still Feldman's manager or whatever. Anyways,
- 30:56Speaker 1: he saw my tattoo and he was like, can I
- 30:58Speaker 1: take a picture of your tattoo? I'm going to send
- 30:59Speaker 1: it to Haim's mom.
- 31:00Speaker 2: I didn't say Haim's mom.
- 31:01Speaker 1: I sent it to his mom. So Corey Haim's mom
- 31:04Speaker 1: is going to see Haim's face on my leg. And
- 31:08Speaker 1: I shaved this morning so I don't have stubble at all.
- 31:11Speaker 1: I don't know if.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Oh, 5 o'clock shadow.
- 31:12Speaker 6: Hold on, let me check.
- 31:13Speaker 2: No, we're good. That's okay. Corey would be cool then.
- 31:16Speaker 1: You know. Yeah.
- 31:17Speaker 2: So it's all exciting, so... Yay!
- 31:20Speaker 1: So now we're standing outside in the hallway making fun
- 31:21Speaker 1: of Feldman and his anime hair and his stupid smoke...
- 31:24Speaker 1: You know those e-cigarettes? I'm getting way too loud to
- 31:26Speaker 1: the microphone.
- 31:26Speaker 6: I'm getting excited. I'm sorry.
- 31:28Speaker 1: It's fine. Well, no, wait.
- 31:29Speaker 15: No, I actually noticed a new detail, too, because he
- 31:32Speaker 15: kind of has Bono-esque sunglasses right now, too, from, like, the.
- 31:36Speaker 6: There are no goggles.
- 31:37Speaker 2: He is a rock star. Yeah.
- 31:39Speaker 6: We've been on all day.
- 31:41Speaker 2: We're also like a foot away from all of his fans.
- 31:43Speaker 9: Maybe he got confused and he doesn't think that he's
- 31:45Speaker 9: Corey Feldman.
- 31:46Speaker 7: He thinks he's Corey Hart.
- 31:49Speaker 2: It's not nice.
- 31:49Speaker 21: Nice.
- 31:50Speaker 6: Well, jeez.
- 31:52Speaker 2: I need to get in line on a NASA case.
- 31:54Speaker 2: That will change the whole list of fans.
- 31:57Speaker 1: I should probably not talk quite so loudly about Feldman.
- 31:59Speaker 1: He's about two feet from his fans. Although one of
- 32:01Speaker 1: them did take a picture of.
- 32:02Speaker 7: My leg, so.
- 32:03Speaker 2: She was the fan of both, I would guess.
- 32:05Speaker 1: What, four people have taken pictures of my legs so far?
- 32:07Speaker 2: We need to start charging for this. Dude, I totally should.
- 32:08Speaker 1: I can make back my boondock saints money on that one.
- 32:11Speaker 2: You should keep, like, a little veil over it and
- 32:13Speaker 2: be like, oh, I'll show you. It's going to cost you.
- 32:16Speaker 2: A different kind of beep show.
- 32:18Speaker 6: Yeah. A hame show.
- 32:19Speaker 2: A hame show.
- 32:22Speaker 17: Oh, God.
- 32:22Speaker 1: I still can't bring myself to stand in line for that.
- 32:24Speaker 1: Fucker's got his glasses on. I'm not going to give
- 32:28Speaker 1: him $ 25.
- 32:28Speaker 9: Well, he's probably really, really high, and he just wants
- 32:31Speaker 9: to cover his bloodshot eyes.
- 32:33Speaker 2: I can't imagine.
- 32:34Speaker 1: I like that he's on a stage, too, because he
- 32:36Speaker 1: can't be a ground level with us Libyans.
- 32:37Speaker 2: He needs to look down the rest of the time.
- 32:40Speaker 1: He can't be higher than Sean Patrick Flannery.
- 32:43Speaker 6: That does seem wrong, really.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Sean Patrick Flannery's face moves somewhat, we've decided. I'm pretty
- 32:49Speaker 1: excited about that. He's got one side up.
- 32:53Speaker 6: Love that man.
- 32:55Speaker 7: I can't believe I didn't know he was powder. We
- 32:57Speaker 7: were just talking about that movie the other day.
- 33:00Speaker 2: One of his many stellar roles. He went naked, so
- 33:03Speaker 2: I gotta watch it.
- 33:04Speaker 7: He wouldn't stand up, though.
- 33:05Speaker 1: That's kind of lame, you know? But then again, Feldman's
- 33:08Speaker 1: not standing up either.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Again, it's the new trend this time. Everybody's staying behind.
- 33:12Speaker 2: Because even Sid was just like, fuck it, just take
- 33:14Speaker 2: the picture.
- 33:15Speaker 1: I'm tired.
- 33:15Speaker 7: Well, Shatner wouldn't even write your name on something.
- 33:17Speaker 2: He wouldn't even make eye contact. Yeah, Shatner's a douchebag. Oh,
- 33:21Speaker 2: that's tragic.
- 33:22Speaker 6: Right after his birthday, we're saying that.
- 33:23Speaker 2: Oops, sorry about that, Willie.
- 33:25Speaker 1: All my autograph pictures are on the wall. I don't
- 33:27Speaker 1: know where my... I paid $ 80 for that thing. I
- 33:29Speaker 1: don't know where I put it.
- 33:30Speaker 6: It's on a wall.
- 33:31Speaker 1: It's like... Shuffled in with some, like, old teen-bop magazines
- 33:34Speaker 1: or something. I don't even know where the hell it is.
- 33:36Speaker 2: I take that, Shabby.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Yeah, if I'm not paying you, like, $ 80, you could
- 33:42Speaker 1: at least, like, write my damn name on it, you know?
- 33:45Speaker 2: You would think, really.
- 33:48Speaker 8: $ 80?
- 33:48Speaker 2: Misty, it's not a long name. It charges by the letter. Dude, seriously.
- 33:54Speaker 1: But it was, ooh, security, security, uh-oh, uh-oh.
- 33:58Speaker 6: Something's going down.
- 34:00Speaker 2: It's probably us. We're recording.
- 34:02Speaker 14: Probably.
- 34:02Speaker 7: Maybe we should make it. We should probably make it.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Yes.
- 34:06Speaker 9: But I'm curious to see what it is.
- 34:10Speaker 8: Just leave it.
- 34:11Speaker 10: Run, run.
- 34:12Speaker 2: I'm going to hide behind it.
- 34:14Speaker 8: Maybe they won't notice we're on it.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Beyond any terror you have imagined. A nightmare.
- 34:49Speaker 1: No.
- 34:50Speaker 2: Unlike anything you have witnessed.
- 34:54Speaker 14: Is born.
- 34:56Speaker 4: Hi, my name is Andrew Robinson, and you are listening
- 35:00Speaker 4: to Movie Meltdown.
- 35:02Speaker 2: The unholy is unleashed.
- 35:19Speaker 14: Stand up You've got too many.
- 35:33Speaker 21: I won't sympathize And if you complain once more, you'll
- 35:53Speaker 21: be found out in your dreams.
- 35:57Speaker 2: And if you.
- 36:01Speaker 21: Complain once more, you'll be found out in your dreams.
- 36:13Speaker 4: Before we begin that, do you want to tell your
- 36:15Speaker 4: core game story?
- 36:18Speaker 13: Huh?
- 36:18Speaker 1: Feldman?
- 36:19Speaker 2: Feldman, whatever.
- 36:20Speaker 4: The elevator in there.
- 36:24Speaker 18: It wasn't much of anything. It was just me standing
- 36:27Speaker 18: there at the elevator with a mace and him... Okay,
- 36:30Speaker 18: this sounds good already. The doors open and there's a
- 36:35Speaker 18: confused looking Feldman in bodyguards and there's me and I
- 36:38Speaker 18: look up and kind of look at.
- 36:41Speaker 2: Him and go, hey, what's up? And he just kind
- 36:43Speaker 2: of looked at me and went.
- 36:45Speaker 14: Hey.
- 36:47Speaker 2: Walked off.
- 36:48Speaker 4: Was it hey or was it hey? Was it his
- 36:50Speaker 4: fake voice?
- 36:51Speaker 2: No, no, it was his real voice. Oh, that's nice.
- 36:53Speaker 4: That's his frog brother's voice.
- 36:54Speaker 18: No, and I'm kind of wishing I would have said
- 36:56Speaker 18: a little bit more to him, but at the time
- 36:58Speaker 18: he had security with him, so.
- 37:00Speaker 2: I'm still going to wait in that line to see him.
- 37:02Speaker 2: Or I could just wait out the door, since he's
- 37:04Speaker 2: right down the hallway.
- 37:06Speaker 4: Yeah, we are crashing in Randy's room for the moment, so.
- 37:10Speaker 4: All right, anything else before we begin?
- 37:12Speaker 2: Boy, his mom's going to see my legs. Oh, Lord.
- 37:22Speaker 2: You have been jingling all day long.
- 37:24Speaker 4: I have.
- 37:25Speaker 1: Lord.
- 37:26Speaker 2: I jingle, jangle, jingle.
- 37:27Speaker 8: All right, so it is time for our out-of-town feature.
- 37:31Speaker 2: Get more out of life. Go out to a movie.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Out of town.
- 37:39Speaker 10: Out of town. Out of the night.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Out of town.
- 37:43Speaker 4: It's in your mind.
- 37:49Speaker 2: I lost everyone I've ever loved.
- 37:51Speaker 7: Then they locked me away. With nowhere to hide.
- 37:59Speaker 2: From the pain. You are safe. It's all safe.
- 38:10Speaker 15: What you're imagining right now?
- 38:13Speaker 7: That place can be as real as any pain. Don't
- 38:18Speaker 7: be afraid.
- 38:20Speaker 2: You have all the weapons you need. Your fight for
- 38:27Speaker 2: survival starts right now.
- 38:30Speaker 22: I'm gonna escape from here.
- 38:36Speaker 2: There's armed guards everywhere. If Blue finds out, we're dead.
- 38:41Speaker 2: We're already dead.
- 38:51Speaker 20: This is your journey. If you succeed, it will set
- 38:56Speaker 20: you free.
- 38:58Speaker 4: And this week, not only did we go out on
- 39:00Speaker 4: the town, but we're also recording this segment out of
- 39:03Speaker 4: our house where we usually sit. So this is quite
- 39:06Speaker 4: an activity for us. We're leaving the house two different
- 39:08Speaker 4: times in one week.
- 39:09Speaker 2: For two different reasons.
- 39:11Speaker 13: Crazy.
- 39:11Speaker 2: I know, hell yeah.
- 39:13Speaker 8: So this week's Out on the Town feature is Sucker Punch,
- 39:16Speaker 8: the year 2011, director Zack Snyder.
- 39:19Speaker 4: The plot, according to.
- 39:20Speaker 8: IMDb, a young girl is institutionalized by her wicked stepfather,
- 39:25Speaker 8: retreating to an alternative reality is a coping strategy. She
- 39:28Speaker 8: envisions a plan which will help her escape from the facility. So,
- 39:32Speaker 8: spoiler alert, this is a whole brand new movie, so
- 39:35Speaker 8: don't be ruining it for yourselves.
- 39:37Speaker 4: You have been warned.
- 39:38Speaker 2: You haven't seen this. You should go see it because
- 39:41Speaker 2: it was fucking awesome. It was pretty awesome. I think
- 39:47Speaker 2: I had more issues with it than you guys. You
- 39:49Speaker 2: did not like this movie? I wouldn't go that far.
- 39:52Speaker 4: I liked it.
- 39:53Speaker 2: It was fun, I'll be with that.
- 39:55Speaker 8: It was fun. I think my take on it, as
- 39:59Speaker 8: I got outside, I was like, yeah, all style, no substance.
- 40:03Speaker 4: It's, like, visually amazing. Like, just everything about the way
- 40:09Speaker 4: he shoots it, the way he pieces.
- 40:10Speaker 8: It together is, like, awesome. It's a beautiful movie. Yeah, like,
- 40:13Speaker 8: and the color. Like, the color that he uses. Like,
- 40:16Speaker 8: he's found a way to make a lot of stuff
- 40:18Speaker 8: washed out, but then he makes certain things really bright,
- 40:21Speaker 8: and it's just... I agree most of that's probably done
- 40:23Speaker 8: post-production at this point, but I don't care.
- 40:25Speaker 4: It's like you use whatever tools you have at your
- 40:27Speaker 4: disposal at this point to make your movie. And so, yeah,
- 40:30Speaker 4: I think just that kind of stuff, just the look
- 40:32Speaker 4: of it overall is amazing. And that color palette is awesome.
- 40:36Speaker 2: But I don't know.
- 40:37Speaker 4: I think I had more issues with the story than
- 40:40Speaker 4: anything else.
- 40:41Speaker 2: I liked the story.
- 40:41Speaker 1: I thought that it was sad and it went places
- 40:44Speaker 1: I didn't think it would actually go. Yeah.
- 40:46Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 40:47Speaker 2: But, I mean, I thought it was dark.
- 40:48Speaker 1: The whole opening sequence with her and her sister and
- 40:51Speaker 1: the stepdad, it was just like... Holy shit to me.
- 40:54Speaker 1: I was sitting there and I was watching. I was
- 40:57Speaker 1: just like.
- 40:57Speaker 2: I was just like, ah, ah.
- 41:00Speaker 1: And it was just, it was amazing. I mean, there's
- 41:02Speaker 1: like the visuals of it. And I thought it was
- 41:04Speaker 1: a good story. And that girl is so Emily Browning. Yeah.
- 41:08Speaker 4: Emily Browning. I, yeah, I'm totally, I'm totally on board
- 41:12Speaker 4: with that one. It's yeah. She's so ridiculously cute.
- 41:15Speaker 2: She was supposed to be in that role, right? No,
- 41:17Speaker 2: it was supposed to be Amanda Seyfried.
- 41:19Speaker 1: Hmm.
- 41:21Speaker 2: And she ended up having to drop out because of, like,
- 41:23Speaker 2: scheduling conflicts or something?
- 41:24Speaker 8: Well, it's kind of to this movie's benefit. Because as
- 41:28Speaker 8: much as I like Amanda, I think half of what
- 41:30Speaker 8: sells it is Emily Browning. She's so damn adorable, for one.
- 41:34Speaker 8: But on top of that, like, she also handles the
- 41:37Speaker 8: dramatic stuff. She handles the action scenes. It's like, I
- 41:40Speaker 8: think she turns in, like, an amazing performance.
- 41:43Speaker 2: She really is.
- 41:44Speaker 4: Half the reason to go see it is because, I mean,
- 41:46Speaker 4: most of it focuses on her anyway.
- 41:48Speaker 18: Yeah, I was telling Misty, she does a really good
- 41:50Speaker 18: job of playing a tragic kind of character.
- 41:54Speaker 2: She was awesome in Limity Snicket. You know, I thought
- 41:58Speaker 2: she was awesome in that. She was in Ghost Ship.
- 42:01Speaker 2: yeah what other movies was she in.
- 42:03Speaker 8: She's been in a lot of stuff but it's a
- 42:04Speaker 8: lot of like smaller stuff I think originally she's.
- 42:07Speaker 4: Canadian she's Australian she's Australian.
- 42:11Speaker 2: Alright nevermind cause we saw first of all I read
- 42:14Speaker 2: it on IMDB.
- 42:15Speaker 1: And then she watched Jay was watching she was doing
- 42:19Speaker 1: this interview on something and you could very hear the
- 42:22Speaker 1: Australian accent because she learned how to have what I
- 42:25Speaker 1: read she learned her American accent watching Sesame Street wow
- 42:29Speaker 1: that's awesome.
- 42:32Speaker 2: Oh, she was ridiculous.
- 42:33Speaker 1: I mean, most of the girls in this movie were beautiful,
- 42:37Speaker 1: aside from Jenna Malone and her butthole mouth.
- 42:41Speaker 2: See, I sat there the whole time going... Why do
- 42:44Speaker 2: I know her?
- 42:45Speaker 4: What was her name again?
- 42:46Speaker 2: Jenna Malone? No, I mean the character. Rocket?
- 42:49Speaker 8: Yeah, I was like, why do I know Rocket? Because
- 42:51Speaker 8: she looked so familiar. I just didn't recognize the hair,
- 42:56Speaker 8: the new hair color. Everything about her looked different.
- 42:59Speaker 2: It looked bad. But it didn't, yeah.
- 43:00Speaker 4: It was just kind of weird looking.
- 43:03Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 43:04Speaker 1: She doesn't stand with her mouth and it just squinches up.
- 43:06Speaker 2: Kind of like a sphincter. I don't like it. That's
- 43:09Speaker 2: not a good look for a mouth. It's not. I
- 43:12Speaker 2: loved her in Saved. Saved was awesome. In this movie,
- 43:15Speaker 2: I just... I don't know. I mean, it wasn't that
- 43:17Speaker 2: she had a bad job of acting.
- 43:18Speaker 1: I just didn't like her face and the way it
- 43:20Speaker 1: moved in the butthole mouth.
- 43:22Speaker 2: But, I mean, I loved Abby Cornish. Sweet Pea was awesome.
- 43:26Speaker 2: And Jamie Chun was adorable.
- 43:28Speaker 8: Yeah, I was going to say, I liked the, what
- 43:30Speaker 8: was it, Jamie Chun. She is just, yeah, again, a
- 43:33Speaker 8: lot of the other ones don't have a whole lot
- 43:34Speaker 8: to do, but their job is to be cute. Yeah,
- 43:37Speaker 8: so I mean, Jamie.
- 43:37Speaker 4: Chun is good. Vanessa Hutchins, how adorable. Vanessa Hutchins, I
- 43:40Speaker 4: thought she, like, that's probably the best thing she could
- 43:42Speaker 4: have done with her career.
- 43:43Speaker 1: I told Jamie, it wasn't bad for having somebody from
- 43:46Speaker 1: high school musical, and it wasn't.
- 43:47Speaker 8: Well, I mean, yeah, all she's done is Disney projects and, like,
- 43:50Speaker 8: romantic comedy kind of stuff so far. So I think
- 43:52Speaker 8: this is, yeah, a step in the right direction for her,
- 43:55Speaker 8: if nothing else, is just to be in something.
- 43:56Speaker 2: A step in the half-naked direction.
- 43:59Speaker 8: Have her scantily clad and firing guns most of the time.
- 44:02Speaker 8: It's just, like, it's a whole new... A new entry
- 44:05Speaker 8: into her resume, so.
- 44:06Speaker 1: And then that one chick whose name I can't say right,
- 44:09Speaker 1: the doctor, the Carla.
- 44:12Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, Carla.
- 44:15Speaker 4: I've given up on trying to say her last name right, so.
- 44:18Speaker 1: But the doctor, she was awesome. Everything about this movie
- 44:20Speaker 1: was awesome. I loved the cast. There wasn't anybody in
- 44:22Speaker 1: the movie that I didn't like, aside.
- 44:24Speaker 2: From Butthole Mel. What was your thoughts on Blue? Sleazy,
- 44:28Speaker 2: but in an awesome way. It was just so, you
- 44:30Speaker 2: hated him, but he was so awesome at it. And
- 44:33Speaker 2: he's such an asshole.
- 44:34Speaker 4: It's Oscar Isaac.
- 44:35Speaker 8: Yeah, he's been in a couple other things, but I
- 44:37Speaker 8: hadn't paid much attention to him before this. He's entertaining.
- 44:40Speaker 8: I'm still kind of making up my mind on him.
- 44:42Speaker 4: I don't know. He's like, he is so, like, sleazy
- 44:46Speaker 4: and so.
- 44:46Speaker 2: But it works for this. He's supposed to be that
- 44:48Speaker 2: sleazy asshole. You're supposed to not like him. He's a jackass. Yeah.
- 44:52Speaker 2: You can't like guys with mustaches that look like that.
- 44:53Speaker 2: They're going to be assholes.
- 44:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Yeah, they did sort of tailor him to be that sleazy.
- 44:58Speaker 2: I dated a guy who had that mustache. You don't
- 44:59Speaker 2: trust them. You never trust guys with mustaches like that, ever.
- 45:03Speaker 4: That's true. He was sleazy, too.
- 45:05Speaker 2: Dude, seriously, you don't get no sleazier than that. I
- 45:06Speaker 2: was wondering about your mustache taste. Is that why you
- 45:12Speaker 2: won't let me grow a mustache?
- 45:13Speaker 1: Part of it.
- 45:16Speaker 2: But yeah, I loved the cast. I loved everything about
- 45:18Speaker 2: this movie. I mean, I loved the action sequences.
- 45:21Speaker 1: I mean, it didn't have the most substance and storyline,
- 45:23Speaker 1: but what storyline it did have I thought was great.
- 45:25Speaker 2: I loved the way it played out.
- 45:26Speaker 8: I think that was what I was let down with,
- 45:29Speaker 8: is there was so much awesome setup, and then there's
- 45:32Speaker 8: just not enough to fill it out.
- 45:34Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 45:35Speaker 4: I think it's almost trying.
- 45:37Speaker 2: And this is.
- 45:37Speaker 4: It's like a double-edged sword with Zack Snyder.
- 45:40Speaker 8: It's like he's so good at the visuals, but I
- 45:42Speaker 8: think sometimes he focuses too much on them. Like, he's spending...
- 45:45Speaker 8: Because this one seems like it's heavily influenced by three things.
- 45:49Speaker 8: Music videos, video games, and anime.
- 45:52Speaker 1: And it's like.
- 45:53Speaker 8: heavily influenced like to the point where there are times
- 45:56Speaker 8: I think it's trying so hard to be those that
- 45:58Speaker 8: it kind of forgets to be a movie like just
- 46:00Speaker 8: story wise structure wise it's like it almost gets more
- 46:03Speaker 8: caught up in the making the little like snippets of
- 46:06Speaker 8: you know of cool scenes that like you I don't
- 46:09Speaker 8: know in the end I.
- 46:10Speaker 4: Think it takes away from what could have been a
- 46:13Speaker 4: better story put.
- 46:14Speaker 1: In there I don't know I just it was just
- 46:17Speaker 1: fun to me I mean He could have had this
- 46:20Speaker 1: really heavy story, and that would have been a good
- 46:22Speaker 1: movie too, but if you're just going to have a
- 46:23Speaker 1: good time, and.
- 46:25Speaker 2: We've seen the trailers. You watched the trailer. You knew
- 46:29Speaker 2: what you were getting into.
- 46:30Speaker 8: Kind of, and that was the other thing. It's so
- 46:34Speaker 8: disconnected from everything. I was really hoping they were finding
- 46:36Speaker 8: a way to work it all into the bigger picture
- 46:40Speaker 8: and put it all together, and I don't know. It
- 46:42Speaker 8: seems so broken up into those little snippets of an
- 46:45Speaker 8: entirely separate little mini-movie.
- 46:48Speaker 4: Which I guess is how they have to do it.
- 46:49Speaker 2: But I don't know.
- 46:50Speaker 8: I think I was just hoping for something that was
- 46:52Speaker 8: a little more all-encompassing that would kind of work.
- 46:55Speaker 2: At all in there.
- 46:56Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 46:57Speaker 2: You're expecting too much. I guess so.
- 46:59Speaker 8: But again, if it were, if it were lesser, I mean,
- 47:02Speaker 8: not that Zack Snyder's movies are perfect, but I mean,
- 47:05Speaker 8: they're usually pretty entertaining and structure wise, they're usually pretty good.
- 47:08Speaker 8: I haven't noticed anything else that's been this like segmented
- 47:12Speaker 8: and broken up into weird little, it's, it almost uses
- 47:15Speaker 8: like a gimmick for the whole structure of it.
- 47:17Speaker 4: You know, it's like, he's never really done that before.
- 47:19Speaker 4: It's always been very story based. So this one, you know,
- 47:21Speaker 4: you get, everything is set up to fall into this
- 47:24Speaker 4: pattern once we get past, you know, the first half hour.
- 47:27Speaker 2: Did you write this movie or?
- 47:29Speaker 4: I thought he did.
- 47:30Speaker 2: I don't know. I mean, I thought it was good.
- 47:32Speaker 2: I mean, I loved it. I had fun.
- 47:33Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 47:36Speaker 8: I think it's trying so hard to do the visuals.
- 47:39Speaker 8: It's trying so hard to be all these other things
- 47:40Speaker 8: that it kind of loses track of the story midway through.
- 47:43Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 47:44Speaker 8: And I was gonna, I mean, what, because it goes
- 47:47Speaker 8: into the main, like, setup of it, where she, like,
- 47:50Speaker 8: goes into the insane asylum and then shifts to an
- 47:54Speaker 8: entire second plotline that's sort of fictional, or.
- 47:57Speaker 4: At least questionably.
- 47:58Speaker 8: As it pans out, it seems pretty fictional. But, yes,
- 48:02Speaker 8: I mean, is there a need for that second plotline? Like,
- 48:06Speaker 8: where she goes to the club? Because, I mean, you
- 48:09Speaker 8: really kind of get the same thing either way. It's like,
- 48:12Speaker 8: I don't know why... Well, yeah, it's in her head.
- 48:14Speaker 2: Nobody cares about.
- 48:15Speaker 18: Nobody wants to see the dull drabness of the inside
- 48:19Speaker 18: of the insane asylum. They want to see the beautiful
- 48:23Speaker 18: visuals of the club. What's going on in her mind
- 48:27Speaker 18: is all playing out. Nobody wants to see her getting
- 48:30Speaker 18: shock therapy constantly.
- 48:31Speaker 1: I don't.
- 48:32Speaker 2: She's too adorable to get shock therapy.
- 48:34Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true. To me it seemed like an extension
- 48:36Speaker 1: of the little, her little journey she has to do.
- 48:39Speaker 2: This is like the big one. It's like the big.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Scene, like from the whole scene of her in the
- 48:43Speaker 1: club is just another one of, it's like an expanded
- 48:46Speaker 1: one of the little scenes.
- 48:48Speaker 2: That's her battle is all these, what's in the whole thing.
- 48:52Speaker 2: Does that make any sense?
- 48:53Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, it just seems like, I don't know,
- 48:56Speaker 8: for a lot of, I guess not, but it almost
- 48:58Speaker 8: seems like it's looping.
- 48:59Speaker 2: Around on itself.
- 48:59Speaker 8: Like, it sets up a scenario, then it immediately sets
- 49:01Speaker 8: up another scenario that's sort of similar, which I think
- 49:04Speaker 8: in a different setup, it would be okay. Like, from there,
- 49:07Speaker 8: it just took on its own little storyline, and it
- 49:10Speaker 8: was all sort of her... fixing what you know horrible
- 49:13Speaker 8: world she's actually living in and we had some sort
- 49:15Speaker 8: of idea because everybody there is there it's almost that
- 49:17Speaker 8: wizard of oz thing of like everybody that's in the
- 49:20Speaker 8: real world turns up in this fantasy world and is
- 49:22Speaker 8: pretty much similar but they're just, you know, they dress
- 49:25Speaker 8: it up a little for this plot line.
- 49:27Speaker 1: But they're always in the little fantasies too so I
- 49:30Speaker 1: think it's just an extension of like that one where
- 49:33Speaker 1: Each little one has this goal she has to do,
- 49:35Speaker 1: and then the big one, her goal is to, it's
- 49:38Speaker 1: all just a goal, little goals and a big goal,
- 49:40Speaker 1: so I can understand why it has, why it switches
- 49:43Speaker 1: to that. because otherwise you wouldn't have her main goal.
- 49:47Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, I understand that it's just, it's weird
- 49:49Speaker 8: that it switches gears immediately from one scenario to the next,
- 49:53Speaker 8: and then it throws in these other, like, four or
- 49:55Speaker 8: five little snippets of other storylines.
- 49:57Speaker 4: Like, I don't know, it almost.
- 49:58Speaker 2: Well, because each one of those is a goal. Do
- 50:00Speaker 2: you feel overwhelmed?
- 50:01Speaker 8: Well, it's almost layering it so much that I'm like.
- 50:05Speaker 8: I compared it to Inception. I'm like, so somebody gets killed,
- 50:07Speaker 8: do they have to ride it back up to the top?
- 50:09Speaker 8: I mean, it's like five stories in, and you're already
- 50:12Speaker 8: in a fictional story, and then you get back to
- 50:14Speaker 8: the asylum, and I'm just like, I don't know.
- 50:17Speaker 2: There's a lot going on, if you want.
- 50:19Speaker 8: I don't know, if you think about it too much,
- 50:21Speaker 8: which maybe I'm just thinking about it too much.
- 50:22Speaker 2: You quite possibly could be. Crazy people have a lot
- 50:26Speaker 2: of scenarios going on in their head.
- 50:28Speaker 4: Are we talking about me now or her?
- 50:29Speaker 1: Both.
- 50:31Speaker 2: Take your pick.
- 50:33Speaker 18: I approach this from the same way that I approach
- 50:38Speaker 18: any of the Resident Evils, which is.
- 50:42Speaker 2: Throw everything out the window. Don't be serious about it.
- 50:46Speaker 2: Go into the theater. Watch it. Enjoy it. Pretty pictures.
- 50:50Speaker 2: Lots of lights. Lots of things getting blown up. And, yeah,
- 50:54Speaker 2: hot chicks, so.
- 50:56Speaker 4: It did have a lot in common with that. It
- 50:57Speaker 4: is a very big action story with a hot babe
- 51:00Speaker 4: in charge of it and a lot of kick-ass action scenes. So, again,
- 51:04Speaker 4: I think this one's even more impressive than that visually.
- 51:07Speaker 4: And Misty pointed out that she... She was saying that
- 51:10Speaker 4: it looked like it was shot for 3D, and I
- 51:13Speaker 4: agree with her.
- 51:13Speaker 2: A lot of the scenes that were in there, you're like,
- 51:15Speaker 2: this could have been awesome as 3D. Why didn't they
- 51:17Speaker 2: shoot this in 3D?
- 51:18Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 51:19Speaker 4: I mean, as much as I'm sick of 3D, if
- 51:21Speaker 4: there's something that probably would have looked awesome, this might
- 51:24Speaker 4: have been it.
- 51:24Speaker 1: It just seems like they were shot specifically for 3D.
- 51:27Speaker 1: You know, the scene with the sword. Where it's like
- 51:29Speaker 1: you're looking down the sword and it's all like flowing.
- 51:32Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 51:32Speaker 2: Or the scene with the bullets. There's bullets slowly and like, yeah.
- 51:36Speaker 18: The shell casings are coming at you and they revolve
- 51:39Speaker 18: and you can see the grittiness of the powder residue
- 51:41Speaker 18: on it.
- 51:41Speaker 2: That's totally a 3D shot right there.
- 51:43Speaker 20: Yeah, I mean, why not?
- 51:45Speaker 4: You would think so, actually.
- 51:47Speaker 2: Everything else is in 3D.
- 51:48Speaker 9: Maybe all the 3D cameras were checked out and they're
- 51:51Speaker 9: just like, we know what we're going to do, but
- 51:53Speaker 9: we don't have the technology to do it right now.
- 51:55Speaker 7: Let's just.
- 51:56Speaker 2: Roll with it. Check that out. They went to the
- 52:00Speaker 2: 3D camera library and they were overdue. Damn it.
- 52:04Speaker 4: They all look at these other terrible movies.
- 52:08Speaker 2: We'll have to come back next Wednesday. We'll be shooting
- 52:11Speaker 2: by then. I'm sorry. There's nothing we can do about it.
- 52:13Speaker 2: Spielberg hasn't won. Damn it. Come on. Fucking Spielberg. Oh,
- 52:19Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 52:20Speaker 8: I think another thing was just the little stories along
- 52:23Speaker 8: the way. I'll get to better parts of that that
- 52:26Speaker 8: I like, but I think the stories themselves, I liked
- 52:29Speaker 8: them more in the beginning. Like, I think I got
- 52:32Speaker 8: tired with the idea because it just got sort of repetitive. Like,
- 52:35Speaker 8: they were awesome on their own, but I think, you know,
- 52:38Speaker 8: especially the main, like that first scene.
- 52:40Speaker 2: Of her fighting the three warriors.
- 52:42Speaker 8: Like, that is an awesome scene. And then I like
- 52:45Speaker 8: her in the biplanes. I mean, it's equally as cool.
- 52:48Speaker 8: But I think, like, by the time we get to
- 52:49Speaker 8: the robots, I don't know.
- 52:51Speaker 4: I was just like.
- 52:52Speaker 8: As she goes into the scenario again, I'm just like, okay,
- 52:55Speaker 8: here we go again.
- 52:56Speaker 2: And we already kind of know how it's going to go.
- 52:58Speaker 1: It's kind of needed for the story because that's how
- 53:00Speaker 1: they achieve each of their objectives.
- 53:02Speaker 2: It's how they get their goals. I get it. I
- 53:04Speaker 2: think that's what I question more is the story.
- 53:06Speaker 8: Is that it's set it up with this very specific
- 53:08Speaker 8: gimmicky thing that... Almost wears its welcome out like two-thirds
- 53:13Speaker 8: of the way through.
- 53:14Speaker 4: Again, I think the visuals on it all is cool.
- 53:16Speaker 4: I think just structure-wise, I don't know why it... I
- 53:18Speaker 4: think you've become an old movie hag.
- 53:21Speaker 2: Well, yeah.
- 53:22Speaker 8: Not completely old, though, because I still like that hot
- 53:24Speaker 8: young chick. I'm still pervy, but....
- 53:28Speaker 2: She's legal. She's 22.
- 53:30Speaker 8: Yeah, she's 23, I think. She's way older than I
- 53:32Speaker 8: thought she was. Yeah, because she's still.
- 53:34Speaker 6: Way out.
- 53:35Speaker 2: Of your range. Well, obviously.
- 53:37Speaker 4: Out of my league.
- 53:38Speaker 2: Hell, I'm gone out of my league. Yeah, she's way
- 53:39Speaker 2: too old for you.
- 53:40Speaker 8: But.
- 53:42Speaker 4: That's true. But, yeah, I think she just was.
- 53:48Speaker 8: Marlene, are you okay over there?
- 53:49Speaker 2: I just laughed a little bit. You only laugh because
- 53:52Speaker 2: it's true. It's true.
- 53:55Speaker 9: And?
- 53:56Speaker 2: Have you ever had a girlfriend who's older than 22?
- 53:57Speaker 4: No, I don't date outside the teens.
- 54:00Speaker 2: Anyway... Although you get the creepier kids. Yeah, it's not
- 54:08Speaker 2: my fault.
- 54:09Speaker 4: I've tried to stop.
- 54:10Speaker 2: That's the thing about them high school girls. If you
- 54:12Speaker 2: keep getting older, they stay the same.
- 54:14Speaker 4: You know, that's not just a movie. For some people,
- 54:18Speaker 4: it's life.
- 54:19Speaker 1: Seriously.
- 54:20Speaker 2: Oh, Lord, what else? So if you see a pickup
- 54:24Speaker 2: truck sitting outside your high school... It's a van. Jump in.
- 54:27Speaker 2: It's a van that's for candy. And it's raining outside.
- 54:32Speaker 2: It's got a bitchin' dragon painted on the side. That's
- 54:35Speaker 2: how you bring the girls in. And a wizard. With
- 54:40Speaker 2: a lightning dragon. But no unicorns, no rainbows. AstroTurf.
- 54:45Speaker 4: That's a classy van right there.
- 54:48Speaker 8: Okay, two of the stuff that I did like and
- 54:50Speaker 8: what I think I want to give Zack Snyder most
- 54:53Speaker 8: credit for is you can sort of see him getting
- 54:57Speaker 8: even more impressive as a filmmaker. I think the coolest
- 55:00Speaker 8: thing he did with this is he's found this way
- 55:02Speaker 8: of not showing you things and that makes it so.
- 55:05Speaker 4: Much more awesome.
- 55:06Speaker 2: Well, yeah, they didn't have to show her sleazy dance.
- 55:08Speaker 2: The dancing, the fact that.
- 55:10Speaker 8: It would lead into it and then cut away is
- 55:13Speaker 8: so much more like, I don't care what kind of
- 55:15Speaker 8: dance you could have done. It cannot touch how awesome
- 55:18Speaker 8: it was that they just pulled away at that moment
- 55:20Speaker 8: and come back and people are like floored. Like people
- 55:23Speaker 8: are just like, Oh my. And you're like, Oh my God,
- 55:25Speaker 8: what just happened? Like that again, that was genius. I mean,
- 55:29Speaker 8: it really works so well.
- 55:31Speaker 2: And the fact that there was no blood in this
- 55:32Speaker 2: entire movie. Hardly any.
- 55:35Speaker 4: Well, I mean, we can get to that in a minute.
- 55:38Speaker 8: But the other thing I think on that line is
- 55:40Speaker 8: when it gets to the end, and we've already thrown
- 55:42Speaker 8: out the spoiler alert, but once it gets to the
- 55:44Speaker 8: point of things change for her towards the very end,
- 55:47Speaker 8: you don't see her at all.
- 55:48Speaker 4: Like, you never see her face.
- 55:50Speaker 8: That whole first, like, ten minutes or so of her
- 55:53Speaker 8: going through and they're still continuing the story and all
- 55:55Speaker 8: these characters are talking around her and you see her
- 55:57Speaker 8: standing there. And it's like it almost adds to the
- 55:59Speaker 8: tension of it, and it adds to the drama of, oh, God,
- 56:02Speaker 8: what's it going to be like?
- 56:03Speaker 4: So, again, I give him credit for that.
- 56:05Speaker 8: Like, that's a really cool move, and I think, you know,
- 56:09Speaker 8: I don't know if he early on would have done that.
- 56:10Speaker 8: I think he is progressing as a filmmaker, and I
- 56:13Speaker 8: still want to see where he's going because I think
- 56:16Speaker 8: visually he's impressive. He's learning weird tricks like that that are, like, amazing.
- 56:20Speaker 8: So I still think he's, like, one of the most
- 56:22Speaker 8: promising directors out there. He just– he almost needs to
- 56:25Speaker 8: reign in his flash. I mean, he's so– flashy about
- 56:28Speaker 8: everything he does especially since 300 you know so i
- 56:31Speaker 8: mean it's it's just gotta gotta put a leash on
- 56:34Speaker 8: it you know i think it's definitely there and impressive
- 56:36Speaker 8: but i just don't want that to overtake the you
- 56:39Speaker 8: know the awesome other stuff that he can do um
- 56:42Speaker 8: is it just me or was scott glenn doing his
- 56:45Speaker 8: best david carey He was doing his best damn David Carradine.
- 56:48Speaker 8: He was trying so hard to be David Carradine. And no,
- 56:51Speaker 8: you know, points to him. He still did a good job. And, well,
- 56:54Speaker 8: in his defense, they really couldn't get David Carradine.
- 56:57Speaker 2: But, I mean, tell me the other thing. Here's the thing.
- 57:00Speaker 2: I don't buy David Carradine as this mystical....
- 57:05Speaker 18: Faux Asian wannabe spiritual guy I don't give a fuck
- 57:11Speaker 18: if you played Kane in Kung Fu because you beat
- 57:13Speaker 18: Bruce Lee out for the part because they weren't taking
- 57:15Speaker 18: Asians in film cinema at that time so that's the
- 57:18Speaker 18: only way you get the part but I don't buy
- 57:20Speaker 18: it I never did buy him as that and it's
- 57:23Speaker 18: kind of.
- 57:23Speaker 4: A stretch but whatever but it is funny looking at
- 57:25Speaker 4: that scene when you walk in you're like oh if
- 57:27Speaker 4: they would have shot this a couple years ago.
- 57:28Speaker 8: They would have used David Carradine no doubt in my
- 57:31Speaker 8: mind it would have been David Carradine Oh, especially post-Kill
- 57:35Speaker 8: Bill when he was like super popular again. It's like
- 57:38Speaker 8: he turned up in so many little cameos in that
- 57:39Speaker 8: kind of role. It's like, yeah, there's not a doubt
- 57:41Speaker 8: in my mind that's who it would have been.
- 57:43Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh, let's see. Oh, back to you.
- 57:46Speaker 4: You said no blood.
- 57:47Speaker 8: To me, it's very obvious there was somebody possibly sitting
- 57:51Speaker 8: at a desk somewhere. I mean, maybe, I mean, some
- 57:54Speaker 8: of it he does creatively, but it's very much let's
- 57:56Speaker 8: keep that PG-13 cap on it.
- 57:58Speaker 2: I mean, it really... Well, that's what he was saying.
- 58:01Speaker 18: He said he wanted to keep it PG-13 to try
- 58:04Speaker 18: to keep, I guess, for a bigger audience.
- 58:07Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 58:07Speaker 2: Because once you go to that R rating, you limit
- 58:10Speaker 2: your audience. See, and once you stay at PG-13, you're
- 58:11Speaker 2: going to lose a lot of audience, too. It's going
- 58:13Speaker 2: to be like, I don't want to watch a PG-13.
- 58:15Speaker 4: Especially, I mean, as racy as they build this up
- 58:18Speaker 4: to be with them in their little outfits, it's like
- 58:20Speaker 4: you could almost lure people in thinking they're going to
- 58:21Speaker 4: get to see a show and Which, granted, with those girls,
- 58:25Speaker 4: I don't think you would get much anyway.
- 58:26Speaker 2: They're all kind of high class enough.
- 58:28Speaker 8: You know, they're names at this point that you're not
- 58:30Speaker 8: going to get much of a show anyway.
- 58:32Speaker 2: So I don't think that hurt it.
- 58:33Speaker 4: I think it's just I think more in the violence
- 58:36Speaker 4: you can tell. I think when when they bother to
- 58:38Speaker 4: make the the zombie guys like steam powered.
- 58:42Speaker 8: So that you're not killing guys you're killing steam powered
- 58:45Speaker 8: already dead like he specifically goes to the trouble.
- 58:47Speaker 2: Of saying don't worry they're already dead.
- 58:50Speaker 8: So it's like it sort of pgs it up a
- 58:52Speaker 8: little more where it's just like um yeah but i
- 58:55Speaker 8: mean to me in on the good side that visual
- 58:57Speaker 8: is awesome like them in the mask and the every
- 59:00Speaker 8: time they kill them you get this big you know
- 59:01Speaker 8: instead of blood you get this giant burst of steam
- 59:04Speaker 8: coming out like i think what they did with it
- 59:07Speaker 8: was creative and it's like the best way to go
- 59:09Speaker 8: about that but I still feel like somewhere somebody went
- 59:12Speaker 8: we need to keep this PG how can we do
- 59:14Speaker 8: that so it's like all of her villains then become
- 59:17Speaker 8: steam powered zombies and like faceless monster you know then
- 59:21Speaker 8: it's like the dragon or it's the guys in suits
- 59:24Speaker 8: of armor that you don't see and orcs that you
- 59:26Speaker 8: know you can kill orcs all you want nobody cares
- 59:29Speaker 8: so Yeah, I mean, it's... Or the robots. I mean,
- 59:33Speaker 8: everything becomes non-human-like, so it's a lot easier to just
- 59:37Speaker 8: wipe them out, which they do.
- 59:39Speaker 4: And this is one I saw with Greg last night,
- 59:42Speaker 4: and he's not here, but I'll give him credit. He
- 59:44Speaker 4: also said there's moments, especially in each of those, that
- 59:47Speaker 4: are sort of reminiscent of other things. Like, you can
- 59:50Speaker 4: see in the orc one the moments of... Borders. all
- 59:53Speaker 4: the Lord of the Rings battle scenes, and then the
- 59:56Speaker 4: one with the robots. There's almost like a scene in
- 59:59Speaker 4: iRobot that's exactly like that.
- 1:00:01Speaker 8: So he's sort of playing from stuff we've seen, so
- 1:00:04Speaker 8: I kind of would think him being the big name
- 1:00:06Speaker 8: he is now, he would mix.
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: That up a little bit more.
- 1:00:07Speaker 18: But then you've got to understand, too, all the stuff
- 1:00:09Speaker 18: that happens in her dreams is all stuff that happens
- 1:00:14Speaker 18: in her world. So, I mean, if you go back
- 1:00:16Speaker 18: and watch, from what I read online, Online, he was
- 1:00:21Speaker 18: saying that if you go back and watch the movie,
- 1:00:23Speaker 18: you can see where a lot of elements that are
- 1:00:25Speaker 18: in her dream, in that dream kind of action sequence,
- 1:00:29Speaker 18: you can see is actually small parts in her real life.
- 1:00:34Speaker 18: Her stepfather has a lot of books on World War II,
- 1:00:37Speaker 18: if you notice in his library. His letter opener is
- 1:00:41Speaker 18: a samurai sword, a small little sword. There's all kinds
- 1:00:45Speaker 18: of little aspects that are thrown in. I don't know
- 1:00:47Speaker 18: where she got the robot one from. I'll have to
- 1:00:49Speaker 18: watch it again and try to figure it out.
- 1:00:51Speaker 8: And that is, if we're, yeah, I mean, since it's
- 1:00:54Speaker 8: all sort of going on in her mind, I mean,
- 1:00:56Speaker 8: it really would be.
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: She had a steam, too, when she shoots at her sister.
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: There's a steam that hits the pipe. Yeah, that's true.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: But, I mean, it would all be drawing from your.
- 1:01:03Speaker 4: So, I mean, if it were us, again, we would
- 1:01:05Speaker 4: be drawing off these movies we've seen before. Which looks familiar.
- 1:01:08Speaker 8: You can take that into account, I guess, that you're
- 1:01:10Speaker 8: drawing from the real world, and in the real world,
- 1:01:12Speaker 8: these movies all exist, right?
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: So, kind of, you can go that way with it.
- 1:01:17Speaker 19: Um.
- 1:01:18Speaker 8: As far as music, I mean, it's so heavy. In
- 1:01:20Speaker 8: a way, I think it's overdone, but I will say music-wise,
- 1:01:23Speaker 8: I also think it's good. Oh, I fucking love the music.
- 1:01:27Speaker 8: I like what they did, mostly because it's got a
- 1:01:29Speaker 8: very uniform feel to it, with the exception of Army
- 1:01:32Speaker 8: of Me, which I don't care. You can crank that
- 1:01:34Speaker 8: up to 11 in every movie. That song is fucking awesome.
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: Love that.
- 1:01:38Speaker 18: That scene actually reminded me about how much I love Bjork.
- 1:01:42Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: Completely. Your kid's named after Bjork. Yeah, my kid's named
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: after Bjork's song, so.
- 1:01:48Speaker 18: I've just, over the time, just from listening to other stuff,
- 1:01:52Speaker 18: just kind of forgot about, you know, forgot about it
- 1:01:56Speaker 18: and recently went back and.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: He tried to maybe listen to the Bjork radio station
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: on the way up here. But they started playing Cure
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: because they don't play.
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: Just what you choose.
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: They play stuff sort of like it in their opinion.
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: I fucking hate the Cure. I fucking hate the Friday
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: I'm in Love song. Because that's the only song they
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: play on the radio. It gets stuck in my head
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: on a repeat. That was not as good.
- 1:02:15Speaker 4: I like some of their stuff.
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: I don't like Robert Smith.
- 1:02:18Speaker 10: Wow.
- 1:02:19Speaker 8: He's become a thing. He's become a brand almost at
- 1:02:22Speaker 8: this point. People imitate him to a ridiculous level now.
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: Guys in their guy liners. Yeah.
- 1:02:31Speaker 4: But yeah, that song is amazing in general. So, I mean,
- 1:02:35Speaker 4: they're making use of it.
- 1:02:36Speaker 8: But overall, I think everything else has that feel of, like,
- 1:02:41Speaker 8: it's all a very similar style of song.
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: It's taking songs you already know.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:02:46Speaker 4: So, again, I think it's almost, and it may be
- 1:02:48Speaker 4: a very, again, conscious act that they're going to tap
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: into that younger market since they're going for PG-13 and
- 1:02:53Speaker 4: they know that.
- 1:02:54Speaker 8: Because to me, it felt very much like what stuff
- 1:02:57Speaker 8: like American Idol does now or Glee. It's like it
- 1:02:59Speaker 8: takes songs you know and mixes them different and does
- 1:03:02Speaker 8: it in a different way and works it in kind
- 1:03:04Speaker 8: of quote-unquote cool these days.
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: But out of all those songs.
- 1:03:08Speaker 18: Aside from the Bjork song, I don't think there were
- 1:03:11Speaker 18: any other ones that were sung by the original artist.
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: They're all covers.
- 1:03:14Speaker 8: It was all covers, and it was all a very
- 1:03:16Speaker 8: similar style, too. That's what I think. It gives the
- 1:03:19Speaker 8: whole rest of the movie that uniform feel, but yet
- 1:03:22Speaker 8: they're working in different songs.
- 1:03:23Speaker 6: Along the way.
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: Yeah, you got an Iggy Pop song. What else? Eurythmics. Eurythmics, yeah.
- 1:03:28Speaker 4: I think there's a.
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: I like that rap song that had Queen in it.
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: Yeah, there's a Queen mashup.
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: The White Rabbit. Yeah, White Rabbit. Jefferson Airplane.
- 1:03:37Speaker 4: But then.
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: Love that song. That's an awesome song.
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: It does things that are sort of... Again, I think
- 1:03:44Speaker 4: we are... It's very much taking this turn trying to
- 1:03:47Speaker 4: tap into that youth market.
- 1:03:48Speaker 8: And I don't know that it's doing it in a
- 1:03:50Speaker 8: tacky way. I think it found the best way to
- 1:03:53Speaker 8: do it. It is working in a reworking of music
- 1:03:55Speaker 8: the way that is popular now. I think it's also doing...
- 1:03:59Speaker 8: it's super video game oriented. So it's kind of tapping
- 1:04:01Speaker 8: into the, I mean the same thing that like, um,
- 1:04:04Speaker 8: Scott Pilgrim was trying to do a very different style,
- 1:04:07Speaker 8: but I think it's like, let's take video games and
- 1:04:10Speaker 8: work them into the real world. Even if it's a
- 1:04:12Speaker 8: fictionalized real world, like it's, it's trying to make a
- 1:04:14Speaker 8: more real version of, you know, what we see in
- 1:04:16Speaker 8: video games. So I think it does it well, but
- 1:04:19Speaker 8: I think it's, it's definitely trying to tap into, again,
- 1:04:22Speaker 8: if you.
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: Show, that's what I was thinking last night.
- 1:04:24Speaker 8: I was like, if you showed this movie to somebody
- 1:04:25Speaker 8: like 50 years ago, their head might explode. Like, I mean,
- 1:04:29Speaker 8: it's stuff that did not exist. Like they're, they're drawing
- 1:04:32Speaker 8: all the music videos and the video games. It's like
- 1:04:34Speaker 8: the references that they're not going to get.
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: I don't even know how you.
- 1:04:37Speaker 4: Would process it. You know, not that that's a possibility,
- 1:04:40Speaker 4: but I'm just.
- 1:04:40Speaker 8: Thinking it's so like in the last 25 years, like
- 1:04:43Speaker 8: everything is based so young that I'm just like, I
- 1:04:46Speaker 8: don't know how this would stand up to somebody, you know,
- 1:04:48Speaker 8: an older generation of somebody that didn't come along in
- 1:04:51Speaker 8: the video game generation or the kids that watched anime
- 1:04:53Speaker 8: and stuff like that.
- 1:04:54Speaker 4: I think it, it pulls so heavily from those that
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: I think it's, I don't know.
- 1:04:58Speaker 8: It works on that level and maybe it's only going
- 1:05:00Speaker 8: to work to people from this point on.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: Like, I don't know.
- 1:05:03Speaker 18: It won't problem people, people that are, I don't know,
- 1:05:07Speaker 18: like older than 50, you know, or hell, you never know.
- 1:05:10Speaker 18: There are some people that are older than 50 to
- 1:05:13Speaker 18: get an anime.
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: You never know. But sometimes for the majority of people
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: that didn't grow up in the whole, I don't know,
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: the whole gen X, gen Y type thing.
- 1:05:20Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, they're not going to get it. They're going
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: to look at it and go, well, there's just a
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: lot of crap going on here. What the hell is
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: all this? It's noisy. There's a lot of explosions.
- 1:05:28Speaker 4: Yeah, sure is. See, I'm not that cranky old man yet.
- 1:05:31Speaker 4: Give it to them. Where the hell did they go?
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: She was over here. I thought she was in an
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: insane asylum. Now she's on a train? What the hell? Confusion.
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: There ain't no jetpacks in World War II.
- 1:05:41Speaker 8: Kids got their new thing on their gut, dang it.
- 1:05:44Speaker 4: Steam-powered zombies. I never fought steam-powered zombies. So, I don't know.
- 1:05:51Speaker 8: Again, I really liked parts of it. I think it's
- 1:05:54Speaker 8: still definitely worth seeing. It's amazing to look at. I
- 1:05:58Speaker 8: have issues with.
- 1:05:59Speaker 4: The structure and the story somewhat, but again, not enough
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: to make you not want to go see it. I
- 1:06:04Speaker 4: think it's still amazing. It's an amazing visual feat, if
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: nothing else. And you guys like it.
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: I fucking loved this. I love that a lot. I
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: was surprised at the end. Should we do like full-blown
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: spoiler alert? Yeah. Full-on. Here we go. I was fucking
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: kind of surprised that they went in and lobotomized the bitch. Yeah, really?
- 1:06:21Speaker 8: I was like.
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: I fucking love it.
- 1:06:24Speaker 18: I mean, I was waiting for them to save her
- 1:06:26Speaker 18: at the last minute, and then he's just.
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: Like, clink! And I was like, oh! See, part of
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: me was surprised. I kept waiting. I kept waiting for them, like,
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: because they weren't showing her face.
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: I'm like, it's going to be Sweet Pea, and, like,
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: Babydoll's in figment of her complete imagination or something.
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: So I'm like, oh, well, fuck. I love Babydoll. They really.
- 1:06:42Speaker 8: I mean, they set it up for that. So I
- 1:06:44Speaker 8: was just like, that's where it should have gone. But
- 1:06:47Speaker 8: at the same time, you kept thinking, again, I guess
- 1:06:49Speaker 8: it's very un-Hollywood.
- 1:06:50Speaker 4: I mean, normally they would... find a way to save
- 1:06:52Speaker 4: the day, and they turn it around and make it
- 1:06:54Speaker 4: a happy ending.
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: No, no. They follow up, and they finish the story.
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: It was like a halfway happy ending.
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: Sweet Pea got a happy ending, but I figured it
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: would be like when Sweet Pea went home, it was
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: her paradise, that maybe Sweet Pea was the one at
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: the bottom of us. But no, I was like, well,
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: fuck me or anything. They totally just did that.
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:07:16Speaker 4: So I don't know. Again, I mean, there's parts of
- 1:07:18Speaker 4: it that are very.
- 1:07:19Speaker 8: cliche and there are parts that are actually original and
- 1:07:22Speaker 8: invented so.
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: It's like it's it's a weird mixture of a movie
- 1:07:25Speaker 4: but i thought.
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: It was a fun movie just as long as you're
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: not expecting too incredibly much if you're going to expecting
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: a good time a fun movie it was god i
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: was as soon as the credits started rolling and the
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: bitches started cackling laughing behind me i was about to
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: fucking kill people because as soon as it started as
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: soon as the credits i.
- 1:07:47Speaker 8: Oh, yeah, I know.
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: I was just like, oh, God, shut up. I don't
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: know if.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: They just were laughing because they thought it was that bad.
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: Several times during the movie, I thought I heard him say, like, what?
- 1:07:56Speaker 10: What?
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: What's going on?
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: Well, yeah, it was an older group of people that
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: had no fucking clue, so.
- 1:08:02Speaker 4: See, I just had trendy kids at our show.
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: We had a wide variety.
- 1:08:06Speaker 8: Yeah, they were all, like, maybe just above legal teenage years.
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: They all seemed about.
- 1:08:11Speaker 4: See, most of ours.
- 1:08:12Speaker 18: Were all, like, college group, and then we had older
- 1:08:16Speaker 18: our age, and then we had.
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: Some even older, which was probably the group that was
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: behind scaffolding.
- 1:08:21Speaker 8: What?
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: What's going on?
- 1:08:23Speaker 18: And then once the corral doors opened at the end,
- 1:08:25Speaker 18: they moved their way out and got back onto.
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: The cattle truck and took off down the road, cackling
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: all the way.
- 1:08:31Speaker 4: They'll be back next week to watch their dumb comedy.
- 1:08:33Speaker 21: Yeah.
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: So. Oh, well.
- 1:08:35Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 1:08:37Speaker 4: It's definitely still impressive. And, yeah.
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:08:42Speaker 8: It's all just sold by our main girl there.
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: Emily Browning. Emily Browning.
- 1:08:46Speaker 8: Yeah, she's.
- 1:08:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:08:48Speaker 8: It's one of those, I think with different casting, it
- 1:08:50Speaker 8: really could have gone a long way. Like she, and
- 1:08:53Speaker 8: it's another one, I want to see where she goes
- 1:08:55Speaker 8: because she hasn't done a lot of stuff in her
- 1:08:58Speaker 8: adult life now. So it's like, I really i think
- 1:09:00Speaker 8: she proves herself as being able to carry this because
- 1:09:03Speaker 8: she has so little dialogue i mean you go like
- 1:09:06Speaker 8: 15 20 minutes before she says a word i.
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: Know that's kind of thrown off by that too i'm
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: like is the bitch gonna.
- 1:09:10Speaker 8: Talk yeah and i was like so i think again
- 1:09:13Speaker 8: with what little she shows she still kind of shows
- 1:09:15Speaker 8: a lot of emotion and she brings a hell of
- 1:09:18Speaker 8: a lot of like badass attitude to it so it's
- 1:09:20Speaker 8: like i kind of want to see where she goes
- 1:09:23Speaker 8: and in maybe a more traditional movie i want to
- 1:09:25Speaker 8: see what she will deliver just on that kind.
- 1:09:28Speaker 4: Of movie so all.
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: Right anything else no.
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: That does it for sucker punch i'll take a break
- 1:09:35Speaker 4: and be back with the rest of the show.
- 1:10:15Speaker 20: Don't be shy we'd like to hear from you so

- 1:10:42Speaker 3: All of life's riddles are answered in the movies.
- 1:10:46Speaker 10: And now, on with the show.
- 1:10:50Speaker 19: Sing me to sleep.
- 1:10:53Speaker 22: Sing me to sleep.
- 1:10:56Speaker 19: I'm tired and I I want to go to bed
- 1:11:04Speaker 19: Sing me to sleep Sing me to sleep And then
- 1:11:14Speaker 19: leave me alone Don't try to wake me in the
- 1:11:20Speaker 19: morning Cause I will be gone.
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: What are you talking about? We watched Sucker Punishment. And
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: you didn't like it. I loved it. I have issues
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: with it. It's got a lot of good points to it.
- 1:11:43Speaker 4: Isn't it getting really horrible reviews?
- 1:11:46Speaker 8: Right before I left this morning, I logged on just
- 1:11:49Speaker 8: long enough to see that just the headline made it
- 1:11:52Speaker 8: sound like it was not doing well, both financially and
- 1:11:55Speaker 8: maybe bad reviews.
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:11:58Speaker 4: I was expecting it to do better just financially, if
- 1:12:01Speaker 4: nothing else, just because it's Zack Snyder at this point.
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: It's a bunch of half-naked chicks with guns.
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: It looks awesome just trailer-wise, but yeah.
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: How could you not like that movie? I mean... Like
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: a video game on screen.
- 1:12:16Speaker 8: One of the other shows described it as like a
- 1:12:18Speaker 8: 13-year-old boy's id. I was like, yeah, that's a pretty
- 1:12:21Speaker 8: good description. That is a good description.
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: I did see the preview and thought, I probably won't necessarily.
- 1:12:27Speaker 4: Guns and scantily clad girls and monsters.
- 1:12:29Speaker 8: Dragons.
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: Orcs.
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:12:32Speaker 4: How long can you go?
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: Explosions. I like explosions. Nobody here but us chickens. Well,
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: that's going to round out this week's episode.
- 1:12:50Speaker 4: But we'll be back next week with more coverage, if
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: you want to call it that, from.
- 1:12:54Speaker 20: Here at the convention.
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: Plus we'll have our exclusive interview with actress Diane Franklin.
- 1:12:58Speaker 4: We'll hear about a different role from Hellraiser's Andrew Robinson.
- 1:13:02Speaker 4: We'll hear Sid Haig use foul language.
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: Shocking, I know.
- 1:13:06Speaker 4: And we'll check in with Joe Bob Briggs to find
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: out how to get him to film your screenplay. plus
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: more shenanigans from your friends at the old Meltdown Gang here.
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: This week we'll go out on a cover song from
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: the star of this week's movie, the adorable and ass-kicking
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: Emily Browning.
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: Otherwise, that about does it. We will return next week.
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: Same geek time, same geek feed.
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: Thanks for listening.
- 1:13:30Speaker 22: Sweet dreams are made of this Who am I to disagree?
- 1:13:40Speaker 22: Travel the world and the seven seas Everybody's looking for.
- 1:13:49Speaker 19: Something Some of them want to use you.
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: Some of them want to.
- 1:13:58Speaker 22: Get used by you Some of them want.
- 1:14:03Speaker 19: To abuse you Some.
- 1:14:07Speaker 7: Of them.
- 1:14:09Speaker 22: He abused me Who am I to disagree? Travel the
- 1:15:00Speaker 22: world and the seven seas.
- 1:15:04Speaker 21: Everybody's looking for something Some of them want to use you.
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: Some of them want to get used by.
- 1:15:18Speaker 19: You Some of them want.
- 1:15:27Speaker 10: To Some.
- 1:16:48Speaker 22: Of them want to use you Some of them want to.
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: Wants to abuse you.
- 1:17:53Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.
