- 0:04Speaker 1: My name's Serena Vincent and you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 0:15Speaker 2: This episode is rated M for Misty. Yes, that's right,
- 0:18Speaker 2: this is a Misty episode, so it will be laced
- 0:20Speaker 2: with profanity even more than usual. If you're not comfortable
- 0:24Speaker 2: with this level of profanity, perhaps this isn't the episode
- 0:27Speaker 2: for you. But we have many other episodes to choose
- 0:29Speaker 2: from that do not feature Misty and will probably be
- 0:31Speaker 2: far less offensive. Okay, maybe. That having been said, on
- 0:36Speaker 2: with the show.
- 0:36Speaker 3: It's showtime. Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts
- 0:42Speaker 3: of power. What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown.
- 1:09Speaker 2: I'm Brian.
- 1:10Speaker 4: I am Misty. And I'm Jay.
- 1:12Speaker 5: And we're coming to you live via digital recording from
- 1:14Speaker 5: the bastion of awesomeness.
- 1:32Speaker 1: I had to clean the table off. It was kind
- 1:33Speaker 1: of gross. It's clean now, though, so we're good.
- 1:36Speaker 6: There's like a gross recap at the beginning of all
- 1:40Speaker 6: these episodes.
- 1:42Speaker 1: It was kind of like spur of the moment. It
- 1:43Speaker 1: was just like, hey, okay, clean that table off.
- 1:46Speaker 6: It's always a good time to hang out and watch
- 1:49Speaker 6: movies and stuff.
- 1:49Speaker 1: It always is.
- 1:51Speaker 6: Speaking of which, have you seen anything lately?
- 1:54Speaker 1: Deep sigh of regret. What am I going to get
- 1:56Speaker 1: from some of the things that I've seen recently? I
- 2:00Speaker 1: guess I could start at... Should I start with TV shows?
- 2:02Speaker 1: Because I've watched a couple of series. Or should I
- 2:05Speaker 1: go straight for the movies?
- 2:07Speaker 6: Let's start with movies.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Okay, movies. I watched two different remakes.
- 2:16Speaker 7: On purpose.
- 2:17Speaker 1: On purpose. Because I'm a glutton for punishment.
- 2:19Speaker 6: See, because remakes usually frustrate you. Like, I've gotten to
- 2:23Speaker 6: where I don't care anymore. But as long as they
- 2:26Speaker 6: are decent and watchable.
- 2:27Speaker 1: It depends on the... One of them could probably use
- 2:31Speaker 1: a decent remake. This wasn't it. Dementia 13.
- 2:37Speaker 6: All right.
- 2:37Speaker 1: They remade it with a bunch of people I'd never
- 2:39Speaker 1: heard of by a filmmaker I'd never heard of.
- 2:42Speaker 6: Not Coppola.
- 2:43Speaker 1: No, not Coppola.
- 2:44Speaker 6: We have done a Dementia 13 episode. If you remember,
- 2:47Speaker 6: it was a long damn time ago on the original.
- 2:51Speaker 1: We did.
- 2:52Speaker 6: You were part of it.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I remember watching the movie, but Boyfriend didn't watch it.
- 2:57Speaker 1: It was Boyfriend on this one, because he says he
- 2:58Speaker 1: didn't watch it.
- 2:59Speaker 6: Pretty sure you were both there.
- 3:01Speaker 7: What was I watching?
- 3:02Speaker 1: The original Dementia 13.
- 3:06Speaker 7: What happened in it?
- 3:08Speaker 1: People died.
- 3:08Speaker 6: They go to Ireland, too, don't they?
- 3:10Speaker 8: Huh?
- 3:11Speaker 6: What? Aren't they in Ireland?
- 3:13Speaker 1: I thought they were in a castle.
- 3:15Speaker 6: Somewhere in the UK, in some sort of castle.
- 3:18Speaker 1: It's in black and white, so you probably fell asleep.
- 3:19Speaker 8: I probably did.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Well, the remake, it's... I can't... I don't remember the
- 3:25Speaker 1: original one that... I'm not, like, super familiar with it,
- 3:28Speaker 1: so I'm like, I'll watch the remake. Just for shits
- 3:30Speaker 1: and giggles. Okay. The wife of the first guy who dies? Well,
- 3:38Speaker 1: she kills him. Spoiler alert. In the first one. It
- 3:41Speaker 1: happened in, like, the first fucking ten minutes. I'm not, like,
- 3:43Speaker 1: ruining the whole thing.
- 3:43Speaker 6: I think that was the way in the first one, too.
- 3:45Speaker 1: He had a heart attack.
- 3:46Speaker 7: Okay.
- 3:47Speaker 6: And they were on, like, a boat or something.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I looked it up.
- 3:49Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 3:49Speaker 1: I looked it up. According to the internet... In the original,
- 3:52Speaker 1: he died on the boat and realizing that she's not
- 3:54Speaker 1: going to get shit if they find his body, she
- 3:56Speaker 1: throws him over the water. In this one, he's still
- 3:59Speaker 1: going to tell her that, hey, you're not going to
- 4:01Speaker 1: get anything if I die or whatever. So she shoots him.
- 4:04Speaker 6: It's a bad way to intro yourself into something.
- 4:07Speaker 1: She shoots him and hits him with an oar and
- 4:09Speaker 1: there's just all kinds of him not dying fast enough.
- 4:12Speaker 1: And there's this big old whole subplot about how she's
- 4:16Speaker 1: already at the castle that she ends up at in
- 4:19Speaker 1: the first one. In the first one, she invites herself
- 4:22Speaker 1: to the castle.
- 4:23Speaker 6: Yeah, and it was like the family castle for their family.
- 4:26Speaker 1: She's already at the family castle for this one. They're
- 4:28Speaker 1: having a big get-together to memorialize the dead girl. As
- 4:34Speaker 1: you do, apparently. The dead girl, the youngest daughter who
- 4:38Speaker 1: died as a child or whatever. So while she's there
- 4:41Speaker 1: in the house without the other family there, she's secretly
- 4:44Speaker 1: selling off all the furniture.
- 4:46Speaker 6: Shady.
- 4:46Speaker 1: She's all kind of shady. And this one... It's been
- 4:50Speaker 1: a long time since I've seen the original. Were there
- 4:51Speaker 1: actual ghosts in that one?
- 4:54Speaker 6: I don't remember it being. Again, it was supposed to
- 4:58Speaker 6: be kind of spooky. And then by the end, it's
- 5:00Speaker 6: more of a Scooby-Doo ending. And they're like, ha-ha, it
- 5:02Speaker 6: was this person all along.
- 5:03Speaker 1: It was like one of the brothers or something. Well,
- 5:05Speaker 1: that's when you get the whole, you know, you get
- 5:08Speaker 1: the bad guys because you have her co-conspirators trying to
- 5:11Speaker 1: steal shit to come break into the house. And then,
- 5:13Speaker 1: oh my God, there is a ghost. And it's the
- 5:15Speaker 1: little girl. And I just spoiled the hell out of
- 5:17Speaker 1: this movie, which you shouldn't watch it anyways because it's
- 5:19Speaker 1: not worth your time.
- 5:22Speaker 6: Now, the original is the one that I will still,
- 5:26Speaker 6: on regular, especially when I hear the song, I will
- 5:28Speaker 6: give you credit on a regular basis. Because you, in
- 5:32Speaker 6: the middle of us watching Dementia 13, the original one,
- 5:35Speaker 6: you called out the line from that movie that I
- 5:39Speaker 6: can only assume Tom Petty stole from?
- 5:43Speaker 1: Which one?
- 5:44Speaker 6: In the middle of the original Dementia 13, one of
- 5:46Speaker 6: these UK people says, you can tell she's an American girl,
- 5:50Speaker 6: raised on promises.
- 5:52Speaker 1: That's a good song.
- 5:53Speaker 6: And I wasn't even paying attention. You called it out.
- 5:55Speaker 6: I was like, oh, yeah, that is word for word.
- 5:58Speaker 6: I mean, unless he just accidentally came up with the
- 6:02Speaker 6: exact same line word for word.
- 6:04Speaker 1: How do you accidentally get that exact same word?
- 6:05Speaker 6: That's what I'm saying. It's a relatively old movie, so
- 6:08Speaker 6: I'm sure Tom probably sat around watching some old schlocky movies.
- 6:12Speaker 1: I miss Tom Petty. Yeah. He was pretty cool.
- 6:15Speaker 6: He seemed pretty cool.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Should I move on to remake number two?
- 6:19Speaker 6: Alright, if you've exhausted all the fun of Dimension 13.
- 6:23Speaker 2: I watched that.
- 6:24Speaker 1: You did watch it.
- 6:25Speaker 6: Sort of.
- 6:26Speaker 1: You were on your phone a 90% of the time.
- 6:27Speaker 7: I don't remember it though.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Girl ghosts. Tiny girl ghosts.
- 6:32Speaker 6: Woo!
- 6:32Speaker 7: Not ringing a bell.
- 6:33Speaker 6: How tiny are we talking?
- 6:35Speaker 1: She's like, this big.
- 6:36Speaker 6: What happened in the film? You guys at home can't tell.
- 6:39Speaker 6: That was maybe two and a half feet. I don't
- 6:41Speaker 6: remember what happened.
- 6:43Speaker 1: You don't remember the whiny guy? He had the gun
- 6:46Speaker 1: and he was running and then he got shot by
- 6:47Speaker 1: the other guy and You were like, and then you
- 6:51Speaker 1: were not happy with that.
- 6:54Speaker 6: There's a whole reenactment of the movie right there.
- 6:57Speaker 1: I don't remember that. I'm watching the movie, and I'm like,
- 6:58Speaker 1: it's broad daylight. And she shows up at the house,
- 7:00Speaker 1: and five seconds later, it's middle of the night. I'm like,
- 7:03Speaker 1: what the fuck just happened? We went from broad daylight.
- 7:05Speaker 4: Oh, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 7:07Speaker 7: Okay, yeah, now I remember. This is in the castle.
- 7:09Speaker 6: And this is a recent remake, right?
- 7:11Speaker 7: I didn't think it was that bad.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Last year, year before. It's better than the other remake
- 7:15Speaker 1: I watched. It was a complete shitstorm and a waste
- 7:17Speaker 1: of my fucking time.
- 7:18Speaker 7: What was the other one?
- 7:19Speaker 6: What was this one called?
- 7:21Speaker 1: Oh, this would be the Cabin Fever remake.
- 7:23Speaker 6: Oh, well, yeah. It's got to be recent because they
- 7:27Speaker 6: just made the first one.
- 7:29Speaker 4: In my mind.
- 7:29Speaker 6: I know. Again, I try not to.
- 7:31Speaker 1: It's been, what, 15 years?
- 7:33Speaker 6: I try not to complain about that. That's the ones
- 7:35Speaker 6: that I'm just like, but we just had that. Why
- 7:38Speaker 6: bother with remaking that? There's plenty of old stuff you
- 7:41Speaker 6: can remake.
- 7:41Speaker 1: I could even understand if you wanted to explore a
- 7:44Speaker 1: different story.
- 7:44Speaker 8: Definitely.
- 7:46Speaker 1: This was the exact same fucking characters. Same names.
- 7:50Speaker 6: Wait, what happens in it?
- 7:52Speaker 1: Oh, it's in the water, and they say it. I
- 7:54Speaker 1: don't remember them actually saying it.
- 7:55Speaker 6: Did they bring that lady in from the theater to
- 7:57Speaker 6: do it?
- 7:58Speaker 3: No.
- 7:58Speaker 6: Because that'd be pretty awesome if they found her.
- 8:01Speaker 1: It's been a long time since I watched the original,
- 8:02Speaker 1: and I will fucking fight to the death with it.
- 8:04Speaker 1: I love Cabin Fever. Is it the greatest movie there
- 8:06Speaker 1: ever was? No, but goddammit, it is a fun movie.
- 8:09Speaker 6: I do remember it being entertaining.
- 8:12Speaker 1: But did they actually say the line in the movie, oh,
- 8:14Speaker 1: it's in the water?
- 8:16Speaker 6: I swear I thought that was just the lady in
- 8:17Speaker 6: the theater.
- 8:18Speaker 1: That's what I thought, too.
- 8:19Speaker 6: That's the joke we've made for 15 years.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Whoever remade this fucking movie.
- 8:23Speaker 6: Was sitting next to her.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Because the actor, when he realizes it's in the water.
- 8:28Speaker 9: Oh, my God.
- 8:29Speaker 4: It's in the water. It's in the water.
- 8:32Speaker 1: And I'm like, dude.
- 8:33Speaker 8: Son of a bitch.
- 8:34Speaker 1: That or he watched me. Or he listened to me
- 8:36Speaker 1: talk about it at some point.
- 8:36Speaker 6: That's true. We've said it a thousand times on this
- 8:39Speaker 6: show over the years.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Like, legit.
- 8:41Speaker 3: The actor.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Because it's like, it's the exact same characters. Completely different cast.
- 8:45Speaker 1: All right. Like, same name characters. Like, there is no variation.
- 8:49Speaker 6: Did the other one happen? Is it like a continuing timeline? No,
- 8:53Speaker 6: this is.
- 8:54Speaker 1: A fucking remake. It is almost line for line the
- 8:58Speaker 1: exact same fucking movie.
- 8:59Speaker 6: Well, again, there becomes that weird gray area sometimes where
- 9:02Speaker 6: it is technically a remake, but then they kind of
- 9:04Speaker 6: pretend like the other one happened and they refer to it. No.
- 9:07Speaker 6: Which I will get to on the only thing I
- 9:09Speaker 6: remembered that I watched recently. So we'll get back to that.
- 9:12Speaker 6: But they do kind of that same maneuver in the
- 9:14Speaker 6: one that I just watched.
- 9:14Speaker 1: No, this is exactly the same. Okay. The only fucking
- 9:20Speaker 1: difference in the characters is the guy who was blonde
- 9:23Speaker 1: in the first movie is now a brunette.
- 9:26Speaker 6: Ah, well, it changes everything.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Like I said, they have the exact same names. They
- 9:29Speaker 1: are the exact same characters, but less likable. Because I
- 9:33Speaker 1: love Rider Strong.
- 9:35Speaker 6: They're all pretty likable, that first one.
- 9:37Speaker 1: You know, and even the fucking jackass you got, and
- 9:39Speaker 1: I'll say it, they fucking removed one of the stupidest
- 9:43Speaker 1: lines that makes me laugh every goddamn time, and I'm
- 9:47Speaker 1: going to say it, and I'll probably get complaints. I'm
- 9:49Speaker 1: going to go shoot squirrels. Why are you going to
- 9:53Speaker 1: shoot squirrels? Because they're gay. I'm just kidding. I don't
- 9:58Speaker 1: care if they're gay or not.
- 9:58Speaker 10: I'm gonna shoot them anyway it's the stupidest thing that's
- 10:01Speaker 10: ever happened it is a very stupid line and it
- 10:03Speaker 10: was 15 years ago it's surprising how much you you
- 10:06Speaker 10: know even that something that dumb people probably would bother with.
- 10:09Speaker 6: Now it's it's a different time 15 years ago But.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Yeah, it follows the exact same scene for scene. Like
- 10:17Speaker 1: I said, a lot of the dialogue is exactly the same.
- 10:21Speaker 6: These are the ones I don't understand. I'm like, what's
- 10:24Speaker 6: the point? Why wouldn't I just go watch the other one?
- 10:26Speaker 6: Or why would you waste money? making the exact same
- 10:30Speaker 6: thing it already exists.
- 10:32Speaker 1: I don't understand because apparently eli roth was like okay
- 10:34Speaker 1: with this he's like yeah i really like that i
- 10:36Speaker 1: think it's really good and.
- 10:37Speaker 6: I'm like because it's just like yours you ought to
- 10:39Speaker 6: like it but.
- 10:40Speaker 1: It's not good that's the thing i mean the original
- 10:43Speaker 1: like i said it's not gonna win any oscars it's
- 10:45Speaker 1: not gonna win any awards except for the misty award
- 10:48Speaker 1: for being awesome but it's not gonna like it's not it's.
- 10:51Speaker 6: We're gonna add that to the spoilers next.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Year yeah the misty yeah and kevin fever is gonna
- 10:56Speaker 1: win i don't even care But it's literally, and it
- 10:58Speaker 1: just unfolds. They make one difference.
- 11:01Speaker 6: All right. Other than the hair.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Remember the doofy, like, deputy guy? You remember the doofy mustache-having,
- 11:10Speaker 1: kind of ridiculous, hey, man, how's it going?
- 11:14Speaker 6: Yeah, I think so.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Blonde chick.
- 11:16Speaker 6: Well, I gotta mix it up.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Who might be into other chicks. Because she says almost
- 11:22Speaker 1: the exact same lines that he has directed towards the
- 11:24Speaker 1: girl that he's with. Like, yeah, you know, and I'm
- 11:27Speaker 1: just like.
- 11:28Speaker 6: If you swap out the genders, it's a whole new thing.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Dude. And the very, very end, they have a slight difference.
- 11:37Speaker 1: It's not a big enough difference to warrant watching this movie.
- 11:39Speaker 1: If you want to watch it, just watch the original
- 11:41Speaker 1: and it'll be way more fun.
- 11:42Speaker 8: All right.
- 11:45Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Yeah. Because I guess they're... there's not even a name
- 11:49Speaker 1: because I don't know his name I know his sister's
- 11:51Speaker 1: name and I can't even say it so I was
- 11:55Speaker 1: looking at this dude and I'm like this dude looks
- 11:56Speaker 1: familiar but I don't actually know him but he's the
- 11:58Speaker 1: brother of that one chick who's kind of hot with
- 12:00Speaker 1: the blue eyes and the dark hair Alex Alexandra Daddario
- 12:06Speaker 1: I just totally slaughtered the fuck out of her name.
- 12:08Speaker 11: I'm sure I'd recognize her more or less you would
- 12:12Speaker 11: she's been in a couple horror movies she's kind of
- 12:15Speaker 11: pretty kind of like a chick version of this dude
- 12:18Speaker 11: but it's her brother and.
- 12:20Speaker 6: That happens with families yeah i.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Know it's crazy but uh yeah alexandra daddario i guess
- 12:26Speaker 1: i can't even say her goddamn name you're gonna know
- 12:29Speaker 1: her when you see her she was in like she
- 12:31Speaker 1: was in one of the texas chainsaw massacre movies like
- 12:34Speaker 1: where she plays his sister.
- 12:35Speaker 6: Anything after four i've totally lost track all of the
- 12:41Speaker 6: new ones all of the even the first remake i
- 12:44Speaker 6: kind of remember but like They've done so many other
- 12:46Speaker 6: things since then.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Who's the one that made them sense? Because the timeline
- 12:50Speaker 1: was way off.
- 12:52Speaker 6: I mean, not that any of those other ones made sense. Like,
- 12:56Speaker 6: two is awesome, but I don't know how much sense
- 12:58Speaker 6: it makes. Four is pretty awesome. Yeah, okay. I do
- 13:03Speaker 6: totally recognize. Actually, I think I just Googled her like
- 13:06Speaker 6: last week because I was trying to figure out why
- 13:08Speaker 6: she looked so familiar.
- 13:09Speaker 1: She's on a TV show now.
- 13:11Speaker 6: She's on something I was watching and I was like,
- 13:13Speaker 6: she looks familiar. Why does she look familiar? So, Everybody
- 13:17Speaker 6: at home, Google her up. She looks familiar.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Yeah, Alexandra Daddario? Daddario?
- 13:22Speaker 6: Daddario sounds catchy. I'd go with that. Yeah. If that's
- 13:25Speaker 6: not it, lady, change her name.
- 13:28Speaker 1: But yeah, her brother's pretty hot. That's all you need.
- 13:31Speaker 1: That's all you need right there.
- 13:32Speaker 6: Well, I mean, she's, you know, she's not doing so
- 13:33Speaker 6: bad herself. It doesn't surprise me that her brother would
- 13:36Speaker 6: also be hot.
- 13:38Speaker 1: I'm trying to find a good picture of him. I
- 13:41Speaker 1: can't find a good picture, but there he is.
- 13:44Speaker 6: Yeah, he looks... oddly familiar. Like maybe I saw him
- 13:47Speaker 6: in something too. So, all right. The D'Addario's are on
- 13:51Speaker 6: to it. They're catching on. Yeah.
- 13:53Speaker 1: You didn't watch, did you? You watched part of it.
- 13:57Speaker 6: I think.
- 13:58Speaker 3: What?
- 13:58Speaker 1: A Cabin Fever remake.
- 14:00Speaker 7: I didn't care enough.
- 14:01Speaker 1: And it seems like they added, they had to have
- 14:02Speaker 1: more gratuitous sex. They did add two gratuitous sex scenes
- 14:05Speaker 1: that I do not remember being in the first one.
- 14:08Speaker 1: And I don't remember the dark hair girl who would
- 14:10Speaker 1: have been, what's her name?
- 14:12Speaker 6: Who doesn't like me?
- 14:13Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Um, I don't remember her having sex with.
- 14:15Speaker 6: Previous guests?
- 14:16Speaker 1: I don't remember her having sex with both of the... Like,
- 14:19Speaker 1: her boyfriend and the Rider Strong character.
- 14:23Speaker 6: I don't remember that, but again, it has been a
- 14:26Speaker 6: long time since I've seen the person.
- 14:27Speaker 1: I don't remember that, but I was just like, I
- 14:28Speaker 1: don't remember that. How am I supposed to care about...
- 14:31Speaker 1: I don't like this guy, because he's supposed to be
- 14:33Speaker 1: in love with the blonde-haired girl, and he's having sex
- 14:34Speaker 1: with this girl over here. What the hell is going on?
- 14:38Speaker 6: There's a fine line with making characters that are.
- 14:45Speaker 6: They, like, you're invested enough to follow versus, like, just
- 14:49Speaker 6: sort of detestable enough you don't even care enough to
- 14:51Speaker 6: watch them. Like, I feel like we're, everything's moved into, like,
- 14:55Speaker 6: anti-hero and it's gotten, like, more and more, like, they'll
- 14:58Speaker 6: center entire movies and TV series around unlikable characters and
- 15:02Speaker 6: I'm like, sometimes it goes too far. Sometimes I get
- 15:04Speaker 6: midway and I go, like, I just don't want to
- 15:06Speaker 6: watch this person. So they, I feel like they have
- 15:09Speaker 6: to play a little easy.
- 15:10Speaker 8: On that sometimes.
- 15:11Speaker 1: These were just, they were, like, They were just so bland.
- 15:17Speaker 1: I don't care. I like Rider Strong. I never cared
- 15:23Speaker 1: for Boy Meets World or whatever. I had a pre-existing
- 15:27Speaker 1: fangirl thing for Rider Strong.
- 15:29Speaker 6: He's good since then. He's maybe the most impressive part
- 15:33Speaker 6: on Girl Meets World.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Never saw it.
- 15:35Speaker 6: Let me tell you, as much as I did not
- 15:37Speaker 6: like that old series, it amazes me how well written
- 15:41Speaker 6: that sequel series was. There are moments when it's kind
- 15:44Speaker 6: of I think even the clunkier moments are by design. Like,
- 15:48Speaker 6: it's meant to be a very, like, again, they, like,
- 15:52Speaker 6: latched on. The boy meets world part was kind of, like,
- 15:54Speaker 6: just thrown in there for that old dumb series. This
- 15:57Speaker 6: one is specifically meant to, like, each one is set
- 16:00Speaker 6: up to, like, teach the kids a lesson kind of
- 16:02Speaker 6: thing or what they're learning along the way. Like, school
- 16:05Speaker 6: is kind of bullshit and they kind of joke about
- 16:07Speaker 6: the fact that, like, their teacher, i.e. dad, Doesn't really
- 16:11Speaker 6: follow the, I mean, not that they ever did in
- 16:12Speaker 6: the old show, but they don't follow a lesson plan.
- 16:15Speaker 6: It makes no sense. He just does whatever the hell
- 16:17Speaker 6: he wants. He takes care of personal business in the
- 16:19Speaker 6: middle of the classroom. It's that kind of stuff. But
- 16:21Speaker 6: the kids are learning stuff, you know, in the real world. And, like,
- 16:25Speaker 6: they bring Ryder Strong back in, and, like, he's really good. Like,
- 16:29Speaker 6: he's got some of the most impressive scenes in it. So, yeah,
- 16:32Speaker 6: who would have known? That's a really decent show. It's
- 16:34Speaker 6: already gone by now, but go watch it.
- 16:38Speaker 1: But yeah, on Facebook, I literally, somebody made a video
- 16:41Speaker 1: that literally compares, like, specific scenes from the Cabin Fever
- 16:45Speaker 1: original and remake.
- 16:46Speaker 6: Because people have way too much time on their hands.
- 16:49Speaker 1: And there's just, they did have the kid, but he
- 16:52Speaker 1: wasn't yelling pancake.
- 16:53Speaker 6: Well, then what's the point of this movie?
- 16:55Speaker 1: But the guy's dog at the beginning's name was Pancake.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Oh, that's not the same.
- 16:58Speaker 1: But there was a kid who was biting people.
- 17:01Speaker 6: But he didn't yell pancake.
- 17:02Speaker 1: He did not yell pancakes.
- 17:03Speaker 6: What is wrong with this movie?
- 17:04Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. It took out all the fun, ridiculous.
- 17:06Speaker 6: Why bother remaking it if you're not going to do
- 17:08Speaker 6: that dumb part?
- 17:09Speaker 1: You know, I'm like... Because they did it. They started
- 17:12Speaker 1: off driving. They go to the little convenience store. Pancakes is...
- 17:15Speaker 1: The kid's there. He's not pancakes in this one. He's
- 17:17Speaker 1: not yelling pancakes. But he does bite somebody eventually. That's
- 17:20Speaker 1: later on.
- 17:21Speaker 5: Oh, Lord.
- 17:22Speaker 1: And the guy shows up who is not Eli Roth.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Because in the movie, Eli Roth shows up at their campfire.
- 17:26Speaker 2: What else is he?
- 17:27Speaker 1: It's just some random... It's a different dude. It's the
- 17:29Speaker 1: exact same thing.
- 17:30Speaker 6: If he was on board with it, why wouldn't you
- 17:32Speaker 6: just bring him back in to do his little cameo again?
- 17:35Speaker 1: It's literally, literally the exact same fucking movie, but not,
- 17:39Speaker 1: I would say, charming.
- 17:42Speaker 6: As charming as Cabin Fever is.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Cabin Fever had its own ridiculous charm, and I love
- 17:46Speaker 1: that movie. I'm not going to lie. I'm not ashamed.
- 17:49Speaker 1: I'm not ashamed. I don't know.
- 17:50Speaker 6: I like all kinds of schlocky stuff. I'm fine with it.
- 17:53Speaker 1: You know, and sitting in the theater, in the dollar theater,
- 17:56Speaker 1: as it was, as somebody... Oh, it's in the water,
- 17:59Speaker 1: but it's fucking in this movie. I don't remember that
- 18:02Speaker 1: actually being a line in the original. I don't remember it.
- 18:04Speaker 6: I thought they never really spell it out, except it's obvious.
- 18:08Speaker 6: And then by the end, don't they zoom in on
- 18:11Speaker 6: the water at the very end? And I'm like, okay, duh,
- 18:13Speaker 6: we all get it, but that's a good way to
- 18:15Speaker 6: go out. That's making your point without someone actually saying, oh,
- 18:20Speaker 6: it's in the water. Except that lady next to me.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Oh he got a walk but that's a whole different.
- 18:26Speaker 6: That's a whole different horror movie remake actually.
- 18:29Speaker 1: We watched one other movie boyfriend you watched this one
- 18:31Speaker 1: so put down the phone and join the conversation because
- 18:33Speaker 1: you you watched this one with me which one was
- 18:37Speaker 1: it we watched avengers the age of ultron finally.
- 18:40Speaker 6: You're right on top of things with this avengery.
- 18:44Speaker 1: World and boyfriend looks lost I don't remember.
- 18:47Speaker 6: There was superheroes in it. There was a flying iron dude.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Is he trying to explain to you that the chick
- 18:53Speaker 1: actually is Scarlet Witch, even though they never actually call
- 18:55Speaker 1: her Scarlet Witch? And you're like, are you sure it's
- 18:56Speaker 1: the same character? Is that Scarlet Witch? Is that the Quicksilver?
- 19:00Speaker 1: I'm like, yes, but then I had to set up
- 19:02Speaker 1: and break out the whole thing of how they can't
- 19:04Speaker 1: use the names.
- 19:04Speaker 6: The complicated thing that is the crossover of Marvel, but
- 19:08Speaker 6: not crossover of Marvel.
- 19:09Speaker 1: I don't remember any of this. Oh, good lord. How
- 19:12Speaker 1: can you not remember me?
- 19:13Speaker 6: Well, there's a character named Scarlet Witch. And she's adorable.
- 19:16Speaker 1: You don't remember me complaining about there not being any
- 19:19Speaker 1: Loki in this movie?
- 19:21Speaker 5: No.
- 19:21Speaker 1: You don't remember how much I fucking hated Iron Man
- 19:24Speaker 1: in this movie? Because he was being a prick.
- 19:28Speaker 6: I mean, he's kind of always a prick.
- 19:29Speaker 1: But he was extra prick. He's like, no, we're going
- 19:31Speaker 1: to do this no matter what. And I'm going to
- 19:32Speaker 1: do this and it's going to save the world. And
- 19:34Speaker 1: he fucks shit up.
- 19:35Speaker 6: You know, they all.
- 19:36Speaker 7: Kind of blend together for me now, and I just
- 19:38Speaker 7: don't remember any of them specifically.
- 19:41Speaker 6: It has become quite a big chunk.
- 19:43Speaker 1: It had a lot of the guy that I don't like.
- 19:46Speaker 7: Jeremy Renner?
- 19:47Speaker 1: Yes.
- 19:48Speaker 6: I'm okay with Jeremy.
- 19:49Speaker 1: And his whole family. His family, you know. Nothing's ringing
- 19:52Speaker 1: a bell.
- 19:52Speaker 7: I remember his family.
- 19:54Speaker 4: But his wife.
- 19:54Speaker 1: I knew who she was when I watched it, but
- 19:57Speaker 1: now I don't remember.
- 19:58Speaker 6: Velma forgot to.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I told boyfriend. I'm like, I know
- 20:01Speaker 1: that girl from Renner. I look up, it was Linda Cardellini.
- 20:03Speaker 6: She's, I mean, for most people, what is that TV show?
- 20:08Speaker 1: Freaks and Geeks?
- 20:08Speaker 6: Freaks and Geeks, yeah, like, she's amazing on Freaks and Geeks,
- 20:12Speaker 6: and it is one of those, like, I remember watching that, like,
- 20:14Speaker 6: several years ago, and, like, all these other people became, like,
- 20:17Speaker 6: huge stars, and I'm just like, where the hell is she?
- 20:19Speaker 6: And it was right before I saw Avengers, like, oh, finally,
- 20:23Speaker 6: she's back again! She's still doing a lot of stuff,
- 20:26Speaker 6: I think, because I googled her after that, and I'm like, oh,
- 20:28Speaker 6: she's doing, like, TV shows and stuff I hadn't seen, but, like,
- 20:32Speaker 6: She still never kind of got to that level that
- 20:35Speaker 6: I feel like she should, because she really is a
- 20:36Speaker 6: great actress.
- 20:37Speaker 1: When they pulled the bait and switch on us, I'm like, oh,
- 20:40Speaker 1: we got Hawkeye's family. Hawkeye's gonna fucking die. He's gonna die.
- 20:43Speaker 1: I can feel it. He's gonna die. Fucking Quicksilver. And
- 20:45Speaker 1: then I was like, what? And then I was like.
- 20:47Speaker 6: Again, I feel like that's part of that deal. I
- 20:50Speaker 6: think it's part of, well, you know, we don't have
- 20:53Speaker 6: to get into this weird gray area quite so much
- 20:56Speaker 6: if we immediately take out one of these two.
- 20:58Speaker 3: Yeah. And.
- 21:00Speaker 6: Again, there is a Quicksilver version in the other Marvel
- 21:04Speaker 6: X-Men timeline, more or less.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Which still doesn't make sense to me.
- 21:07Speaker 6: But there isn't really a Scarlet Witch there. So between
- 21:10Speaker 6: the two, it's like, well, we're not losing anything if
- 21:13Speaker 6: we mess up Scarlet Witch, we won't have Scarlet Witch. Quicksilver,
- 21:16Speaker 6: we've already kind of got something going on over here
- 21:17Speaker 6: that's like that. But Scarlet Witch is very different. And again,
- 21:21Speaker 6: I love that character as part of this new series
- 21:24Speaker 6: goes along. Plus, she's amazing anyway, as an actress. But
- 21:28Speaker 6: even the character, like, I like these last two or
- 21:30Speaker 6: three movies, starting with Age of Ultron, that she's got
- 21:33Speaker 6: this weird dynamic. Especially now that she's dealing with the
- 21:37Speaker 6: loss of her brother. And then the horrible situation that
- 21:42Speaker 6: leads off Civil War is kind of not really her fault,
- 21:46Speaker 6: but kind of her doing.
- 21:48Speaker 1: I haven't watched Civil War yet.
- 21:50Speaker 6: Civil War, again, it puts her in a really weird place.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Is Loki in that one? I don't think so.
- 21:57Speaker 6: That's what Ragnarok's for, man. I know.
- 21:59Speaker 1: We were going to watch it tonight, but you hadn't.
- 22:02Speaker 1: You'd already done the podcast.
- 22:03Speaker 6: We've done one technically. We've done an episode. But no,
- 22:05Speaker 6: I think you'll love Ragnarok. For not just the Loki reasons.
- 22:09Speaker 6: Everything about that is.
- 22:10Speaker 1: It had Vision in it. You don't remember watching this movie?
- 22:12Speaker 6: Vision's pretty damn cool.
- 22:14Speaker 1: No. No.
- 22:18Speaker 6: Vision's cool.
- 22:19Speaker 2: I like Vision.
- 22:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:21Speaker 6: Another good addition. So again, like, my thing originally with
- 22:26Speaker 6: Ultron was that I feel like it There could have
- 22:29Speaker 6: been a lot more there. Last time I rewatched it, though,
- 22:31Speaker 6: I was like, they do a decent job of... The
- 22:34Speaker 6: only thing that felt rushed was how quickly Ultron just
- 22:38Speaker 6: takes over, becomes evil, and is world domination. But the
- 22:42Speaker 6: more I thought about that last time, I was like,
- 22:44Speaker 6: he is connected to everything in the world. And he
- 22:47Speaker 6: learned everything almost immediately with just internet. And he immediately
- 22:52Speaker 6: absorbed everything in our media. And truthfully, if you look
- 22:55Speaker 6: through human media... the world needs to be destroyed. It
- 23:00Speaker 6: should not take you long to go, oh, no, these
- 23:03Speaker 6: creatures are horrible. You know what would fix this planet?
- 23:06Speaker 6: Taking them out. So it made more sense that second
- 23:08Speaker 6: time I watched it.
- 23:08Speaker 1: You'd think the kitten videos would at least slow it down.
- 23:12Speaker 6: Maybe he takes out all the humans and he just
- 23:14Speaker 6: sits around and kind of watches kitten videos. He saves
- 23:16Speaker 6: them all, you know. He doesn't destroy the kitten videos.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Remember him lifting up the entire city and floating the
- 23:24Speaker 1: city up and... Yeah, I lost him. You already did
- 23:29Speaker 1: a big thing about that one.
- 23:31Speaker 6: Yeah, it's been a while, but we've got one back
- 23:33Speaker 6: there if people were really concerned.
- 23:35Speaker 1: I watch TV shows. I guess we're at the third
- 23:39Speaker 1: season of Channel Zero now. Butcher Block.
- 23:43Speaker 6: I've heard about all these seasons, mostly from you, but
- 23:46Speaker 6: I heard someone else referencing it this past week, and
- 23:49Speaker 6: they kind of liked both of them. There's three of
- 23:52Speaker 6: them now. Of the first two, though.
- 23:54Speaker 1: I'm still sticking with season one could have been edited
- 23:58Speaker 1: down way... It could have been like an hour. It
- 24:00Speaker 1: had an hour worth of story, not six hours worth
- 24:02Speaker 1: of story, let me tell you. Season two was fucking amazing.
- 24:05Speaker 1: I love season two. Season three, it had Rutger Hauer.
- 24:09Speaker 6: That's enough right there. I'm kind of on board.
- 24:13Speaker 1: There was a cannibal family that lived in a staircase
- 24:16Speaker 1: up in the sky.
- 24:17Speaker 6: You know, like happens.
- 24:21Speaker 1: They live in another dimension. i guess that's what i
- 24:24Speaker 1: got from it i could just be pulling shit out
- 24:25Speaker 1: of my ass there's a magical staircase that appears and
- 24:29Speaker 1: disappears and they go up and there's another world with
- 24:31Speaker 1: a big house and they have to sacrifice kids and
- 24:36Speaker 1: yeah it's a lot because it starts off two sisters
- 24:38Speaker 1: you have like one of them's kind of mentally crazy
- 24:40Speaker 1: and other ones must take care of her so you
- 24:42Speaker 1: know it's going to switch at some point and apparently
- 24:46Speaker 1: there's a whole other storyline where the People used to
- 24:49Speaker 1: have a meatpacking company. That's where you get butcher's block from. So, yeah,
- 24:56Speaker 1: it was complicated.
- 25:00Speaker 6: But you're okay with it?
- 25:01Speaker 1: I'm okay. I didn't like it as much as season two,
- 25:04Speaker 1: although it did have Rutger Hauer.
- 25:05Speaker 6: Rutger Hauer's pretty damn amazing.
- 25:08Speaker 1: You can't argue with Rutger Hauer, especially when he's a
- 25:10Speaker 1: crazy cannibal. He's eating people. You just can't. You can't
- 25:13Speaker 1: fight that. You know?
- 25:16Speaker 6: Gosh, he's awesome.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Why is he not doing it? I would go see
- 25:18Speaker 1: Ricker Power at a convention. Like Wizard World, at least.
- 25:22Speaker 6: I feel like he would at this point. I don't know.
- 25:25Speaker 6: They've roped in some pretty big names over the years,
- 25:27Speaker 6: so I would think he should be lining up. Let's
- 25:30Speaker 6: get it going.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Okay, boyfriend, I know you watched the other show that
- 25:33Speaker 1: I watched, because we sat and watched it together.
- 25:35Speaker 6: What?
- 25:39Speaker 1: Even you like this show. Come on, boyfriend.
- 25:43Speaker 6: What?
- 25:44Speaker 1: Santa Clarita Diet.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 25:46Speaker 1: I had to think of the names. I always get
- 25:47Speaker 1: the town wrong.
- 25:51Speaker 6: San Bernardino Diet.
- 25:52Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Or Santa Cruz Diet. I always get.
- 25:56Speaker 6: San Fernando Valley Diet.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I love this show.
- 25:58Speaker 6: There's a lot of Sands in that part of the world.
- 26:00Speaker 1: I love the show. Santa Clarita.
- 26:02Speaker 6: I remember you liked the first season.
- 26:04Speaker 1: It's got Drew Barrymore and it's got Timothy Olyphant, who
- 26:07Speaker 1: I simply adore. And he plays the part so perfectly
- 26:11Speaker 1: because he's so spazzy. That's the character, though. It's supposed
- 26:14Speaker 1: to be spazzy. He's supposed to be just full-on neurotic because,
- 26:17Speaker 1: I mean, they're realtors.
- 26:21Speaker 6: Well, you do have to be able to schmooze people
- 26:23Speaker 6: pretty good if you're a realtor.
- 26:25Speaker 1: How would you say it? Okay, how do you say realtor?
- 26:28Speaker 6: Realtor?
- 26:29Speaker 1: Because there's a whole big thing in there about whether it's... Oh, Lord.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Because they're competing realtors. Because they're realtors and realtors.
- 26:38Speaker 6: I didn't know this was such a battle, but all right.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Well, it's got in a, I wouldn't really say, is
- 26:44Speaker 1: it a guest starring small side part?
- 26:48Speaker 6: Cameo-ish.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Cameo-ish. Joel McHale.
- 26:51Speaker 3: All right.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Who I adore anyways. He needs something to do. He
- 26:54Speaker 1: plays the competing, like, realtor? Realtor? Realtor?
- 26:57Speaker 3: Realtor.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Yeah. Apparently I have the same problem that they do
- 27:02Speaker 1: in the movie. Well, they're a competing couple of realtors.
- 27:07Speaker 1: And that's just fucking hilarious. And it's just the whole
- 27:12Speaker 1: other season of her having to eat people and trying
- 27:14Speaker 1: to pick who she eats. And then there's Nazis. And
- 27:19Speaker 1: she has her whole Nazi smorgasbord going on. Because they
- 27:24Speaker 1: have a Nazi baseball team. I'm pretty sure it was
- 27:26Speaker 1: a baseball team. Right?
- 27:29Speaker 6: This is not confusing at all.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Well, she's not part of the baseball team, obviously.
- 27:34Speaker 6: Is she on a rival baseball team?
- 27:37Speaker 1: Although she does not play baseball. She just eats the
- 27:39Speaker 1: baseball players. And it does have a... Because he was
- 27:43Speaker 1: in the first season, but it's been long enough that
- 27:46Speaker 1: I think I can say that he was killed off
- 27:48Speaker 1: without it being a big spoiler alert. Nathan Fillion, who
- 27:51Speaker 1: I also adore. Well, they find out that they buried
- 27:56Speaker 1: him out in the desert. And they didn't realize that
- 28:00Speaker 1: you had to destroy the brain. So he's been buried
- 28:02Speaker 1: out in the desert for months.
- 28:03Speaker 6: Still kind of zombified.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Just a decapitated head out buried in the desert.
- 28:10Speaker 6: That seems like it'll probably happen to Nathan at some point.
- 28:13Speaker 6: It seems like something crazy will end up happening.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Yeah, so him and Timothy Olyphant's character, they bond while
- 28:21Speaker 1: he's ahead in their basement. Because apparently he's a much
- 28:23Speaker 1: nicer guy when he has no other party parts to
- 28:27Speaker 1: deal with.
- 28:27Speaker 6: Even if it was just a decapitated head, I think
- 28:30Speaker 6: I'd get along just fine with Nathan Fillion.
- 28:31Speaker 1: He is pretty awesome. It's such a great show. I
- 28:36Speaker 1: cannot say enough good things about this show. I just can't.
- 28:42Speaker 6: Well, I've thought of one that I saw, and as
- 28:44Speaker 6: I said, it kind of fits your thing. It's a sequel,
- 28:48Speaker 6: but not really. It's a remake, but kind of. I
- 28:53Speaker 6: watched Jumanji.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Oh, how was it?
- 28:56Speaker 6: I thought it was great. Again, I'm one of the
- 28:59Speaker 6: people that unironically thought the first Jumanji was pretty damned entertaining.
- 29:04Speaker 6: I haven't seen it. It was a weird time when
- 29:09Speaker 6: it was like we were kind of just figuring out, hey,
- 29:11Speaker 6: we can do this digital thing. So a lot of
- 29:13Speaker 6: it was kind of just showcasing, hey, we can make
- 29:15Speaker 6: rhinos run around the city. Yeah. This one, I think
- 29:19Speaker 6: they don't have to worry about that so much. We've
- 29:22Speaker 6: kind of got a handle on how we do good
- 29:25Speaker 6: and bad CG. It's kind of a run-of-the-mill thing either way.
- 29:28Speaker 6: So this one, they've got a good budget, so most
- 29:30Speaker 6: of the stuff is good. And they got the rock.
- 29:33Speaker 6: That's the thing. I was like, when they first announced
- 29:37Speaker 6: they were going to do it, it was a normal
- 29:39Speaker 6: reaction of like, uh, here they go doing a remake again.
- 29:41Speaker 6: But with that one, I was just like, okay, with
- 29:43Speaker 6: the rock.
- 29:44Speaker 11: All right.
- 29:45Speaker 6: I'm already, I'm already halfway in. And then the more
- 29:47Speaker 6: they went into the description of it, I'm like, okay, well,
- 29:50Speaker 6: at least they're doing something different. The same thing I
- 29:52Speaker 6: always say. I'm like, if you're going to take that idea,
- 29:54Speaker 6: take it and do your own thing with it.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Nobody plays board games these days.
- 29:58Speaker 6: And that's kind of the joke. And that's sort of
- 30:01Speaker 6: how it becomes a sequel, really, is the board game
- 30:04Speaker 6: at the beginning, even in the mid-90s when that movie
- 30:09Speaker 6: was originally made, morphs itself into a video game. But
- 30:13Speaker 6: even then, it's like a mid-90s cheesy video game, which
- 30:16Speaker 6: now already seems dated. So now it's like it changes
- 30:20Speaker 6: the whole thing, where before, for the majority of the
- 30:23Speaker 6: first movie, the board game stuff comes into our world.
- 30:27Speaker 6: Now it becomes a video game, and everything happens within
- 30:31Speaker 6: the video game world. So it sucks them into the
- 30:33Speaker 6: video game world.
- 30:34Speaker 1: I don't know if it's like a 90s game. It
- 30:35Speaker 1: could be more up-to-date than most of the stuff now,
- 30:37Speaker 1: because kids today, in their wackiness, play games that are
- 30:40Speaker 1: more like they were back in.
- 30:41Speaker 6: But it is literally a 90s game, and we get
- 30:45Speaker 6: a crossover point, where at the beginning, it does pick
- 30:48Speaker 6: up almost immediately after that one, and we've got a
- 30:50Speaker 6: character that gets roped in right after at that time,
- 30:54Speaker 6: and then it also comes in modern day with these
- 30:56Speaker 6: kids that are stuck playing this old video game, which
- 31:00Speaker 6: it sucks them into the world. But to me, the
- 31:03Speaker 6: parts that were maybe the funniest, and maybe more so
- 31:06Speaker 6: if you're a gamer kind of person... because I was
- 31:09Speaker 6: telling someone who is a gamer about it, and they
- 31:11Speaker 6: thought it was pretty damn funny, that, like, it plays
- 31:14Speaker 6: with that kind of stuff, that, like, I don't think
- 31:16Speaker 6: any of this is a spoiler, it just shows the
- 31:19Speaker 6: sense of humor, where they go, like, at the beginning
- 31:21Speaker 6: of them being in this little world, they start, like,
- 31:25Speaker 6: it starts getting kind of weird, and then there's, like,
- 31:26Speaker 6: another shot opens up, and they're like, whoa, whoa, you
- 31:28Speaker 6: hear a voiceover, go, whoa, what's going on, as it's
- 31:30Speaker 6: going to, like, a road, and a truck, or something, like, oh,
- 31:33Speaker 6: it's okay, it's a cutscene, And then, like, it explains
- 31:36Speaker 6: the backstory to these characters, and they acknowledge that it's
- 31:39Speaker 6: a cutscene.
- 31:41Speaker 1: It doesn't look horrible.
- 31:42Speaker 6: No, it was surprisingly good. Like, everybody in it, like, again,
- 31:47Speaker 6: they all... It's perfect casting. Like, she is a badass.
- 31:52Speaker 6: As much as, like, sometimes you can play Jack Black wrong, like,
- 31:56Speaker 6: there are also other parts that he is born to play.
- 31:59Speaker 6: He's so good in this. Like, surprisingly... Him playing a
- 32:03Speaker 6: teenage girl works so much better than you would think
- 32:06Speaker 6: it would. And it gives you kind of some of
- 32:08Speaker 6: the best jokes ever. Essentially, at some point, he has
- 32:12Speaker 6: to go to the bathroom. That's the funniest, like, that moment. Like,
- 32:15Speaker 6: go watch it just for that. It's a priceless response
- 32:20Speaker 6: to that process. So, yeah. And The Rock. You can't
- 32:24Speaker 6: not like The Rock.
- 32:25Speaker 1: You can't. You can't fight it.
- 32:26Speaker 6: And you get a little bonus Nick Jonas action.
- 32:29Speaker 1: Hell yeah i saw him in the trailer i love
- 32:31Speaker 1: me some jones.
- 32:32Speaker 6: He's a he's a size again i thought it was
- 32:34Speaker 6: like more of a cameo he's a pretty sizable character
- 32:36Speaker 6: he's got a lot of screen time.
- 32:37Speaker 1: He is my favorite jonas well that's not saying much
- 32:40Speaker 1: hey joe's not bad joe's.
- 32:41Speaker 6: All right i mean nobody likes kevin let's be all
- 32:44Speaker 6: doughy let's be realistic even when he was a kid
- 32:46Speaker 6: nobody liked kevin so like he's always.
- 32:48Speaker 1: The least favorite on the poster of all the jonas brothers.
- 32:51Speaker 6: There was no girl like you know making out with
- 32:53Speaker 6: that side of the poster no isn't.
- 32:55Speaker 1: He like a real estate agent probably is that Jonathan
- 32:58Speaker 1: I think that's Jonathan.
- 33:01Speaker 6: They're all the same band I don't know.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Jonathan hey you know what Jonathan Knight was always my
- 33:05Speaker 1: favorite new kid yeah but you're weird I can't help it.
- 33:09Speaker 6: I'm sticking with Nick Jonas so anyway he's pretty damn
- 33:12Speaker 6: likable in this but nobody's more likable than The Rock
- 33:14Speaker 6: like it's just.
- 33:16Speaker 1: I'm always surprised I'm going back to Nick I'm always
- 33:18Speaker 1: surprised whenever I see Nick Jonas like in something and
- 33:21Speaker 1: I'm just like dude I love this guy Because he
- 33:23Speaker 1: was in one of my shows, like one of my
- 33:25Speaker 1: top five that I have talked about this show like
- 33:28Speaker 1: a million and a half times. Scream Queens.
- 33:32Speaker 6: Playing at something you did not expect. Again, he does
- 33:36Speaker 6: not have a problem going weird directions of the few
- 33:38Speaker 6: times I've seen him in stuff.
- 33:40Speaker 1: You still haven't seen.
- 33:41Speaker 8: I've seen the.
- 33:42Speaker 6: First episode or two. I saw the beginning of it.
- 33:46Speaker 1: God, he's so genius.
- 33:47Speaker 6: He's pretty impressive.
- 33:48Speaker 1: In Scream Queens. I would ask Boyfriend for his opinion,
- 33:51Speaker 1: but chances are he doesn't remember that character because it's
- 33:54Speaker 1: not Chad Radwell.
- 33:55Speaker 7: Which character?
- 33:56Speaker 3: Boone.
- 33:58Speaker 1: My dead gay bro, Boone. He was the guy who
- 34:03Speaker 1: acted like he had a crush on Chad Radwell.
- 34:06Speaker 7: He had the dark hair?
- 34:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:08Speaker 7: Yeah, okay, yeah.
- 34:09Speaker 1: He was the very preppy one.
- 34:10Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I remember him.
- 34:11Speaker 1: He was funny as shit. That's the best first season
- 34:15Speaker 1: of a show.
- 34:17Speaker 6: Nick does some good work.
- 34:18Speaker 1: He does.
- 34:19Speaker 6: And even Kevin Hart. Again, it's kind of that same
- 34:21Speaker 6: Jack Black thing. It's like he can go too far
- 34:25Speaker 6: in that direction with him, especially in a movie or
- 34:27Speaker 6: a project like that, but it falls just right. Yeah,
- 34:31Speaker 6: it falls just right. You kind of need his character
- 34:34Speaker 6: to be doing insane things that fall into the Kevin
- 34:37Speaker 6: Hart thing, so it's like it kind of works really well.
- 34:40Speaker 6: So all four of them are really great. And this
- 34:43Speaker 6: is what I was saying before. Not only does it
- 34:45Speaker 6: kind of do that transfer over from the board game
- 34:48Speaker 6: to the video game thing, But there's even, like, a
- 34:50Speaker 6: moment where they're in, like, this big, like, treehouse scenario
- 34:53Speaker 6: in the game world. And there's the name of Robin
- 34:58Speaker 6: Williams' character from the first movie is carved into the tree.
- 35:02Speaker 13: That's real.
- 35:03Speaker 6: As though he built this universe, more or less. Because
- 35:06Speaker 6: at some point in that movie, like, he's, like, sucked
- 35:08Speaker 6: into that world for, like, a long time. So this is, like,
- 35:11Speaker 6: more or less the fictional Jumanji world still existed through
- 35:14Speaker 6: all of these things. It's just kind of we're seeing
- 35:17Speaker 6: different sides of it, and it's coming to our world,
- 35:19Speaker 6: or we're going to that one. So, again, I like
- 35:22Speaker 6: that that's the way to do... Is this going to.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Make my brain hurt?
- 35:26Speaker 6: I don't think so. Okay.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Do I have to watch the original? No.
- 35:30Speaker 6: Again, that's why I'm like, this is the way to
- 35:32Speaker 6: do something like that. It's kind of self-contained, so you
- 35:35Speaker 6: don't have to. If you watch the old one, it
- 35:37Speaker 6: still ties to it, but it never... does beats from
- 35:41Speaker 6: the old one and never is a cheesy carbon copy
- 35:44Speaker 6: of the old one. It completely does its own same thing.
- 35:47Speaker 7: You haven't seen the original Jumanji?
- 35:49Speaker 1: No.
- 35:50Speaker 6: Really? Wow, it's actually really good. It's really good.
- 35:54Speaker 7: Yeah, it's one of my favorite Robin Williams films.
- 35:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 36:00Speaker 7: Even though it's kind of cheesy.
- 36:01Speaker 6: And Bonnie Hunt. What more do you want if you
- 36:04Speaker 6: have Bonnie Hunt? Everybody loves Bonnie.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Oh, she's blonde from Mad About You. Who am I
- 36:10Speaker 1: getting that chick?
- 36:10Speaker 6: That's Helen Hunt. That's totally different. People like Helen Hunt,
- 36:15Speaker 6: but everybody wants Bonnie Hunt.
- 36:16Speaker 3: Bonnie Hunt?
- 36:17Speaker 1: Is she the one who did Totally Close to the Heart?
- 36:21Speaker 6: No, that's Steven Tyler.
- 36:24Speaker 3: God.
- 36:29Speaker 1: I knew I was wrong. Don't give me any hate mail.
- 36:31Speaker 1: I don't think we ever get any hate mail.
- 36:35Speaker 9: Oh, Lord.
- 36:35Speaker 6: So... Yeah, I was surprised how much I liked Jumanji.
- 36:40Speaker 6: And then it just leads to the slippery slope of, man,
- 36:43Speaker 6: am I going to have to go see Rampage now?
- 36:45Speaker 1: It does look pretty ridiculous. It looks pretty ridiculous. I
- 36:48Speaker 1: am not at all familiar with the game. I have
- 36:49Speaker 1: seen the toys and the action figures look pretty awesome.
- 36:51Speaker 6: I love the game. Like there are a few games. Well, again,
- 36:54Speaker 6: no surprise. It's essentially a Godzilla movie made into a
- 36:58Speaker 6: video game. So it's like a giant monster tearing up
- 37:00Speaker 6: a city. Yeah, that's all I wanted to do. Like
- 37:03Speaker 6: that's the only thing I cared about at that time.
- 37:05Speaker 6: And now, really, truthfully. So, like, when that video game
- 37:09Speaker 6: came out, like, I did throw a lot of quarters
- 37:10Speaker 6: into it growing up. Did you play that game, boyfriend?
- 37:14Speaker 6: You know you played.
- 37:14Speaker 7: It's a rampage. I didn't like that game.
- 37:16Speaker 6: Smashing up a town?
- 37:17Speaker 3: What more do you want?
- 37:18Speaker 1: No, I didn't really like it.
- 37:19Speaker 6: I mean, it didn't have much other purpose to it.
- 37:22Speaker 6: It was literally just smashing things up. You kind of
- 37:24Speaker 6: got points. You tried to see how long you could survive.
- 37:26Speaker 7: I had friends that played it. I didn't like it.
- 37:29Speaker 7: I was always playing Street Fighter.
- 37:31Speaker 6: I just liked it. you know, it's essentially living a
- 37:33Speaker 6: Godzilla movie. So I always was entertained with the game
- 37:36Speaker 6: as a whole, but the thing that was weird to me,
- 37:38Speaker 6: it was just like, when I saw that trailer the
- 37:41Speaker 6: first time in front of some movie, I was just like,
- 37:43Speaker 6: actually I'm midway in and I'm just like, okay, there's
- 37:46Speaker 6: a giant ape and he's kind of a white.
- 37:49Speaker 8: Okay.
- 37:49Speaker 6: And then, and then like all of a sudden there's
- 37:51Speaker 6: like a wolf running around. I was like, wait, are
- 37:53Speaker 6: they ripping off rampage and then like more frightening was
- 37:58Speaker 6: the fact that the title came out oh no they
- 38:00Speaker 6: made a rampage but like that was like late 80s
- 38:05Speaker 6: like that was a long time ago when that like
- 38:09Speaker 6: arcade game came about why now like when they're so
- 38:12Speaker 6: like studios the only like they're not making half the
- 38:16Speaker 6: stuff they used to make they're only making really big
- 38:18Speaker 6: recognizable properties Rampage? Don't get me wrong. It made a
- 38:23Speaker 6: ton of money, so it worked.
- 38:24Speaker 1: I just want to know when we're getting our Pitfall movie.
- 38:27Speaker 6: Isn't that just the... And again, isn't it going to
- 38:30Speaker 6: star The Rock?
- 38:31Speaker 3: Oh, wait, no.
- 38:33Speaker 6: Now they're doing the... What is the Uncharted? They're doing that,
- 38:37Speaker 6: but now they're doing the flashback version where he's younger.
- 38:40Speaker 6: So we are kind of getting a Pitfall game. But
- 38:42Speaker 6: the whole idea is kind of ripped off of Indiana Jones,
- 38:45Speaker 6: which is sort of Pitfall.
- 38:46Speaker 1: I'm a Pong.
- 38:46Speaker 6: We're getting a Pong game. Pong game is coming, don't
- 38:50Speaker 6: you worry. Starring Dwayne Johnson as the Pong.
- 38:55Speaker 1: Hungry, hungry hippos.
- 38:56Speaker 6: Okay, wait, no. We got that. It's Jumanji.
- 38:59Speaker 7: Go watch Jumanji.
- 39:01Speaker 1: Kinect 4.
- 39:01Speaker 6: I mean, can it be any more ridiculous than Battleship?
- 39:06Speaker 1: Come on. Hands in the pants. Hands in the pants.
- 39:11Speaker 6: It's a fun game. We can all play.
- 39:13Speaker 7: Old maid.
- 39:15Speaker 6: Tiddlywinks. The game is now a major motion picture.
- 39:21Speaker 7: I mean, didn't they do a battleship one?
- 39:23Speaker 6: They did do a battleship.
- 39:25Speaker 1: Canasta.
- 39:26Speaker 2: Canasta.
- 39:27Speaker 1: No, what's the game I used to love? I used
- 39:30Speaker 1: to play it with my grandma all the time.
- 39:32Speaker 6: What's that one where you got to.
- 39:34Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no.
- 39:35Speaker 7: You got to guess the.
- 39:37Speaker 6: Guess who?
- 39:38Speaker 3: Guess who?
- 39:38Speaker 4: The movie.
- 39:40Speaker 1: No, there was another game we used to play. Miles Born.
- 39:42Speaker 1: Miles Born. It was Miles Mourning. You had to drive.
- 39:45Speaker 1: It was a card game, but it was a driving
- 39:48Speaker 1: card game.
- 39:48Speaker 2: Oh, God.
- 39:50Speaker 1: Yeah, it was great. You had a flat tire.
- 39:52Speaker 6: No, I played Waterworks where you had to build a pipeline. Actually,
- 39:56Speaker 6: I can see them doing this.
- 39:57Speaker 2: Mousetrap.
- 39:57Speaker 6: There you go. Mousetrap.
- 40:00Speaker 1: I would get so pissed as a kid because my cousin...
- 40:03Speaker 1: had Mousetrap and I did not have Mousetrap and I
- 40:05Speaker 1: always wanted to go spend the night at her house
- 40:07Speaker 1: just so we could play Mousetrap and she never wanted
- 40:10Speaker 1: to play it because the bitch owned the game so
- 40:12Speaker 1: she never wanted to play it and I'm like oh
- 40:14Speaker 1: my god I don't have this game she's like I
- 40:15Speaker 1: play it all the time and I'm like oh you
- 40:18Speaker 1: bitch I want to play Mousetrap and I want to
- 40:20Speaker 1: play Guess Who because I don't have these games we
- 40:22Speaker 1: had Monopoly which I never ended well and Clue which
- 40:26Speaker 1: I still love Clue.
- 40:27Speaker 6: Clue is an awesome game you can't go wrong with
- 40:30Speaker 6: Clue they.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Made a movie out of that and it was pretty
- 40:32Speaker 1: good too It had Tim Curry.
- 40:36Speaker 8: It did.
- 40:37Speaker 6: I mean, it is not the board game, but it's
- 40:41Speaker 6: as ridiculous a movie as you can get and has
- 40:43Speaker 6: somehow become a beloved classic over the years. At the time,
- 40:47Speaker 6: no one liked that movie, but now kids that grew
- 40:50Speaker 6: up watching on cable think it's a classic, so it
- 40:53Speaker 6: shifted in the years in between.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Speaking of Monopoly, very briefly, we did watch another movie,
- 41:00Speaker 1: but it's just going to be a quick reference because
- 41:03Speaker 1: it was Friday the 13th was the other day, so
- 41:06Speaker 1: we actually went back and watched it again, and I
- 41:08Speaker 1: was pretty excited.
- 41:09Speaker 6: Original Friday the 13th?
- 41:10Speaker 3: Oh, well, duh.
- 41:11Speaker 6: Well, I mean, they did a remake. I don't know
- 41:13Speaker 6: if you know what's going on with that one. I know,
- 41:15Speaker 6: I know. So you're not watching the remake on that one.
- 41:19Speaker 6: You went to original era. I wasn't there, you know.
- 41:22Speaker 1: It seems like I had some complaints. It seems like
- 41:23Speaker 1: it was less bloody than I remember it being.
- 41:26Speaker 6: Again, that was like the early days. They don't start
- 41:28Speaker 6: upping the body count until sequel and sequel and sequel.
- 41:31Speaker 6: So the first ones of all those series usually, except
- 41:34Speaker 6: for Nightmare on Elm Street, which is super bloody. But
- 41:38Speaker 6: the other ones aren't near as bloody.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Johnny Depp. Johnny Depp. That's all I got to say.
- 41:43Speaker 6: Johnny.
- 41:44Speaker 1: But yeah, we watched it and we're like, oh, is
- 41:46Speaker 1: that Kevin Bacon? And I'm like, uh, duh.
- 41:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:50Speaker 8: Don't worry.
- 41:50Speaker 6: Things don't end.
- 41:52Speaker 1: That's my main problem with this movie, that one scene
- 41:54Speaker 1: with Kevin Bacon. I'm just like, how did she get
- 41:56Speaker 1: the right angle to get the thing to go through
- 41:59Speaker 1: the neck underneath the bed and force of the angle
- 42:03Speaker 1: and the... I don't understand.
- 42:05Speaker 6: The magical powers of the woods.
- 42:07Speaker 1: Because I was like, we were watching and I'm like.
- 42:09Speaker 6: The magical murder powers.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Of the woods. Every time they show the character that's
- 42:14Speaker 1: killing everybody, it's very much portrayed as a large, muscular man.
- 42:17Speaker 1: And you get to the person, I'm like, this is
- 42:19Speaker 1: just some old lady.
- 42:20Speaker 14: It's Jason.
- 42:21Speaker 6: It's the spirit of Jason before there was a Jason.
- 42:25Speaker 6: But Jason was always there.
- 42:28Speaker 1: But literally in the first movie, it was just his mom.
- 42:30Speaker 1: It was an old lady. So how could it... Whenever
- 42:32Speaker 1: they show him, it's literally like.
- 42:33Speaker 6: It's funny. I remember at the time, I must have
- 42:37Speaker 6: recorded it on VHS or something. There was the one
- 42:39Speaker 6: where he grabbed somebody... She grabs somebody and, like, slits
- 42:44Speaker 6: their throat or something, and the hand is like a
- 42:46Speaker 6: stuntman or something. Like, it looks like a big dude's hand.
- 42:49Speaker 4: That's what I'm like.
- 42:49Speaker 6: And I'm just like, now how are you going to
- 42:50Speaker 6: go back later and pretend like it's a little old lady? Because, yeah,
- 42:54Speaker 6: I don't know. It's like, I'm not saying an old
- 42:55Speaker 6: lady can't murder a bunch of people, but most of
- 42:58Speaker 6: this physically is much... It's a more challenging thing to
- 43:02Speaker 6: make happen if you're an old lady. Yeah, dude.
- 43:05Speaker 1: It's still a great movie. I still love it.
- 43:08Speaker 6: It's all right.
- 43:09Speaker 1: It's not.
- 43:10Speaker 6: Again, it's not my favorite of that era. It's just
- 43:15Speaker 6: like everybody goes to Jason and it's like, Jason got
- 43:17Speaker 6: to be fun for me. I watched them all. What
- 43:19Speaker 6: was the other one I really liked? I was way
- 43:22Speaker 6: more Halloween when I was a kid.
- 43:24Speaker 1: What's the other of the camp genre ones that I
- 43:26Speaker 1: really like? It had Jason Alexander in it, but I
- 43:29Speaker 1: hate him.
- 43:30Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 43:31Speaker 8: The Burning.
- 43:32Speaker 1: The Burning.
- 43:32Speaker 6: The Burning's pretty good.
- 43:33Speaker 1: Still, out of all the camp genre ones, I think
- 43:36Speaker 1: Sleepaway Camp's my favorite just because I had nuts.
- 43:38Speaker 6: Sleepaway Camp is just Like, even without the end, it
- 43:42Speaker 6: is a weird movie. Like, just that.
- 43:45Speaker 13: Judy.
- 43:46Speaker 6: As low budget as it was. Kids with their weird
- 43:49Speaker 6: ass accents.
- 43:50Speaker 1: Side ponytail.
- 43:52Speaker 6: Side ponytail. Judy being a bitch.
- 43:54Speaker 1: Like, it's just. Judy was a righteous.
- 43:56Speaker 6: Oh, my God. It's so entertaining in its own weird way.
- 44:01Speaker 6: Before you get.
- 44:02Speaker 2: To the end.
- 44:03Speaker 6: And then it just shoots it up into the stratosphere.
- 44:06Speaker 1: That's a great movie. It's an experience. Speaking of movies,
- 44:09Speaker 1: we should go watch one.
- 44:10Speaker 6: We probably should. So, we're not sure which one.
- 44:13Speaker 1: Oh, I know what we're watching.
- 44:15Speaker 6: You randomly picked it and I went, good enough. I
- 44:17Speaker 6: kind of like when we just blindly go into movies.
- 44:20Speaker 1: I watched the trailer at least.
- 44:22Speaker 6: I don't know much about this, so we're going to
- 44:23Speaker 6: go find out what we're getting ourselves into.
- 44:26Speaker 1: We're getting into The Void.
- 44:28Speaker 3: Let's do this.
- 44:29Speaker 2: Go watch it now.
- 44:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:32Speaker 6: Well, she was an American girl Raised on promises She
- 44:42Speaker 6: couldn't help thinking That there was.
- 44:45Speaker 4: A little more light Somewhere else After all, it was
- 44:52Speaker 4: a broken.
- 44:53Speaker 9: World With lots of places to run to.
- 44:59Speaker 4: And if she.
- 45:00Speaker 9: Had to die, try and see the one little.
- 45:05Speaker 4: Promise she was gonna keep. Oh, yeah. All right. Take
- 45:13Speaker 4: it easy, baby. It could last all night. She was
- 45:21Speaker 4: American Girl.
- 45:30Speaker 5: For the information of those who are attending a drive-in
- 45:32Speaker 5: theater for the first time, the following hints will make
- 45:35Speaker 5: you feel at home and add to your enjoyment. Firstly,
- 45:38Speaker 5: if you've not already done so, remove the speaker from
- 45:41Speaker 5: its stand and place.
- 45:42Speaker 7: It within the car.
- 45:43Speaker 5: Secondly, adjust the volume control to right for loud, left
- 45:47Speaker 5: for soft. The mobile snack bar service, flick down switch
- 45:52Speaker 5: on right. We must issue this warning. No attempt should
- 45:56Speaker 5: be made to disconnect the speaker. To do so, we'll
- 46:02Speaker 5: immediately register on a red light on our control panel.
- 46:06Speaker 5: The Skyline caters for every member of the family. Let
- 46:09Speaker 5: the children enjoy themselves in the playground. And everybody will
- 46:13Speaker 5: want to visit the snack bar where appetizing food and
- 46:16Speaker 5: drinks are always available. And the barbecue for that luscious,
- 46:19Speaker 5: juicy steak.
- 46:21Speaker 7: One final word.
- 46:23Speaker 5: When the performance ends and before moving, replace the speaker
- 46:27Speaker 5: on its stand. You then drive forward and you move
- 46:31Speaker 5: to the right. You must never reverse out of your position.
- 46:35Speaker 5: Thank you, everyone. We trust you have a pleasant evening.
- 46:40Speaker 9: So.
- 46:58Speaker 6: You guys know we're broke, right?
- 47:01Speaker 1: We're always broke.
- 47:02Speaker 2: I know.
- 47:03Speaker 6: And yet we're trying to put this show together. Now
- 47:06Speaker 6: how the hell can we keep the show rolling if
- 47:09Speaker 6: we're broke and we.
- 47:09Speaker 4: Can't do this?
- 47:10Speaker 1: Sell special fiddle fowl.
- 47:12Speaker 3: Oh.
- 47:12Speaker 6: Or instead, murder people. Are you just taking random money
- 47:20Speaker 6: out of their pockets?
- 47:21Speaker 1: Well, yeah. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
- 47:23Speaker 6: Hopefully it won't come to that.
- 47:25Speaker 1: Especially if they're peeping.
- 47:26Speaker 6: Some people will get on board with this.
- 47:29Speaker 1: Get on board with what?
- 47:31Speaker 6: The new Movie Meltdown Patreon page.
- 47:33Speaker 1: And what is this?
- 47:34Speaker 6: If you go there, you can sponsor the show itself. Basically,
- 47:38Speaker 6: you just join the club. You join the Meltdown Club.
- 47:41Speaker 6: You become a milketeer.
- 47:42Speaker 1: Do you get a special decoder ring?
- 47:44Speaker 6: We already sent those out, but those people, nobody cares.
- 47:47Speaker 1: I didn't get a decoder ring.
- 47:48Speaker 6: You're not part of the club.
- 47:49Speaker 1: I'm never part of the club.
- 47:52Speaker 6: You're part of the secret circle, though.
- 47:53Speaker 8: It's okay.
- 47:54Speaker 6: But if you become a milketeer, you can get special
- 47:58Speaker 6: episodes that only come to you. I think you should
- 48:01Speaker 6: do it right now.
- 48:02Speaker 1: Right now?
- 48:02Speaker 6: I'm just saying. It's maybe a couple of bucks. There's
- 48:06Speaker 6: other levels you can kick in and get fancier. Maybe
- 48:08Speaker 6: a couple bucks. You don't know. Fancier stuff. But really,
- 48:11Speaker 6: just a couple of bucks will keep things rolling. What'll
- 48:14Speaker 6: get me a pony? That's a really high level. I'll
- 48:19Speaker 6: have to figure out exactly what.
- 48:21Speaker 7: That's platinum membership right there.
- 48:23Speaker 6: That might be above platinum. We'll have to see.
- 48:25Speaker 7: What is above platinum?
- 48:28Speaker 6: Titanium. Titanium.
- 48:30Speaker 3: Really?
- 48:31Speaker 6: Maybe that's a step below.
- 48:33Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 48:33Speaker 6: We'll have to see.
- 48:34Speaker 1: Aluminium level.
- 48:35Speaker 7: That's way below.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Not if you say it fancy.
- 48:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 48:40Speaker 2: Unobtainium.
- 48:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 48:44Speaker 6: Good luck with that. But for the rest of you,

- 49:43Speaker 3: With the unknown.

- 51:27Speaker 16: We was hitchhiking down a long and lonesome road. All
- 51:33Speaker 16: of a sudden, there shined a shiny demon.
- 51:39Speaker 4: In the middle.
- 51:41Speaker 7: Hey, this is KG of Tenacious D, and you're listening
- 51:46Speaker 7: to Movie Meltdown.

- 52:30Speaker 8: Where'd you find this guy?
- 52:31Speaker 9: I need a copy of code three and I need assist.
- 52:47Speaker 3: Daniel?
- 52:50Speaker 4: Daniel? Daniel?
- 52:54Speaker 3: Who are they?
- 52:55Speaker 4: There is something calling them all here.
- 52:58Speaker 9: I've seen this place before.
- 53:06Speaker 13: Everything has led to this.
- 53:11Speaker 6: You will become something remarkable. They did killings and sacrifices.
- 53:19Speaker 3: They made people change.
- 53:20Speaker 1: Nothing else matters now.
- 53:22Speaker 4: It's not real.
- 53:25Speaker 13: It's not.
- 53:27Speaker 4: Real.
- 53:29Speaker 13: It's not real.
- 53:30Speaker 6: This isn't the end.
- 53:35Speaker 12: Statistically, you're more likely to die in a hospital than
- 53:38Speaker 12: anywhere else.
- 54:22Speaker 6: Alright, we are back from The Void, or are we
- 54:26Speaker 6: still in The Void?
- 54:28Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 54:30Speaker 1: I am not going to lie, I fully, fully enjoyed
- 54:32Speaker 1: this movie. It was one of those, it's very rare
- 54:35Speaker 1: that I have truly no idea what's going on in
- 54:37Speaker 1: a movie, but I'm still along for the ride, and
- 54:40Speaker 1: I'm like, what the hell is going on? But I
- 54:42Speaker 1: still enjoy it, so yeah, two thumbs up.
- 54:44Speaker 6: And what movie is this?
- 54:45Speaker 1: This will be The Void.
- 54:47Speaker 6: This week's Super Theater feature is The Void.
- 54:50Speaker 1: I picked this one.
- 54:50Speaker 6: The year is 2016. The directors are Jeremy Gillespie and
- 54:55Speaker 6: Stephen Kostansky. And spoiler alert, we're going to attempt to
- 55:00Speaker 6: spoil the hell out of this, but I don't know
- 55:03Speaker 6: how much we're going to really.
- 55:04Speaker 1: Spoiling this movie, it would give the illusion that we
- 55:08Speaker 1: know what happened. I kind of like that I don't
- 55:11Speaker 1: really know for sure.
- 55:12Speaker 6: Just for sport, I kind of want to read what
- 55:14Speaker 6: it says. I haven't read what the IMDb plot is,
- 55:16Speaker 6: but the plot, according to IMDb, says... Shortly after delivering
- 55:20Speaker 6: a patient to an understaffed hospital, a police officer experiences
- 55:25Speaker 6: strange and violent occurrences seemingly linked to a group of
- 55:28Speaker 6: mysterious hooded figures.
- 55:32Speaker 1: I mean, I like that out of every movie I've
- 55:36Speaker 1: ever seen, probably in my entire life, they have a
- 55:39Speaker 1: semi deserted hospital, but they have a reason because every
- 55:43Speaker 1: movie that you watch that has a hospital that is
- 55:46Speaker 1: Even somewhat horror or sci-fi related, the hospital is fucking abandoned.
- 55:51Speaker 1: I've been in hospitals, not been in- Abandoned.
- 55:53Speaker 7: And the lights are flickering and it's just, yeah.
- 55:56Speaker 1: It's all creepy and shit, but it's always just like, oh,
- 55:59Speaker 1: this is how hospitals are. No, motherfuckers, that's not how
- 56:02Speaker 1: hospitals are. But this one, at least they give reason.
- 56:05Speaker 1: Apparently there had been a fire and they were packing
- 56:08Speaker 1: up the hospital. They were going to close the hospital
- 56:10Speaker 1: and move it to another location. That had been like
- 56:13Speaker 1: maybe like a new hospital or just moving to a
- 56:15Speaker 1: different location in general. So at least they gave a
- 56:18Speaker 1: fucking reason as to why it's abandoned and creepy and
- 56:22Speaker 1: the lights are flickering. And that made me happy. It
- 56:25Speaker 1: was really a deep level of satisfaction that it's like, okay,
- 56:29Speaker 1: I'm with you on this one.
- 56:30Speaker 7: They just had the front section open.
- 56:33Speaker 1: Yeah, they had kind of the basics.
- 56:34Speaker 7: Yeah, the basic area.
- 56:35Speaker 1: They were packing everything up. They were in the process.
- 56:38Speaker 1: It was just kind of just there while they were
- 56:40Speaker 1: in the process of moving.
- 56:41Speaker 6: This was like when I went to Toys R Us
- 56:43Speaker 6: last week. Everything had been shifted to the front. All
- 56:46Speaker 6: the dead, desolate aisles in the back. It made me
- 56:50Speaker 6: tear up a little bit. Anyway.
- 56:52Speaker 1: Was there a void in the back of the Toys
- 56:54Speaker 1: R Us?
- 56:54Speaker 6: It kind of felt like it. Yeah, it felt very
- 56:57Speaker 6: unnatural there. Many, many years spent with the toys and
- 57:01Speaker 6: Now it's all shutting down. I mean, sucked into the void.
- 57:03Speaker 1: Because you fucking work there and you shut down every
- 57:06Speaker 1: place that you've worked.
- 57:07Speaker 6: No, I think just every business goes out of business.
- 57:10Speaker 1: Which is why I told you to not work at
- 57:11Speaker 1: Half Price Books because I love that place. I would
- 57:13Speaker 1: be so mad if you shut that shit down.
- 57:15Speaker 2: Taking it down.
- 57:15Speaker 1: Don't you fucking do it, dude.
- 57:16Speaker 6: Doing its thing.
- 57:18Speaker 1: But yeah, it's like, I think this movie had been
- 57:21Speaker 1: on one of those movies on Netflix that you should
- 57:23Speaker 1: be watching right now. So I think I saw it
- 57:26Speaker 1: in preparation and I was just like, oh, I'll keep
- 57:28Speaker 1: that in mind. So when you I randomly messaged me like, hey,
- 57:31Speaker 1: we need to do an episode. I'm like, yeah, it's
- 57:34Speaker 1: time to do The Void.
- 57:35Speaker 6: Time to watch this thing.
- 57:38Speaker 1: Which I'm pretty sure partially ripped off at some point.
- 57:40Speaker 6: Kind of at some point.
- 57:42Speaker 1: Was there anything this movie didn't kind of rip.
- 57:44Speaker 4: Off at some point?
- 57:45Speaker 6: That's my, I mean, it is funny that very early on,
- 57:49Speaker 6: I wrote it down. Before we even got to the
- 57:54Speaker 6: triangle-y stuff, other than it was kind of on the hood,
- 57:56Speaker 6: but like, I was already kind of like, OK, this
- 57:59Speaker 6: is just like a weird live action Gravity Falls. Like
- 58:04Speaker 6: we're in a weird, tiny, small town. There's already kind
- 58:07Speaker 6: of just weird stuff going on, but kind of nondescript,
- 58:11Speaker 6: weird stuff and a lot of mixtures of weird stuff.
- 58:14Speaker 6: And like that's kind of how every episode of Gravity
- 58:17Speaker 6: Falls goes. especially all of them when you put it together.
- 58:20Speaker 6: It's just a smorgasbord of weirdness.
- 58:22Speaker 1: I love that show.
- 58:23Speaker 6: Yeah, I was like, this is not up to that level,
- 58:26Speaker 6: but it's kind of a live-action thing like that going on,
- 58:30Speaker 6: and then we get to the triangles everywhere, and I
- 58:32Speaker 6: was like, ooh, Bill Cipher. And then a few minutes later,
- 58:35Speaker 6: you said that. I'm like, I just wrote that down.
- 58:37Speaker 6: I just wanted to specifically make note that we have
- 58:40Speaker 6: to address that it might just be Bill Cipher behind
- 58:43Speaker 6: all of this.
- 58:43Speaker 1: I wouldn't doubt it. He is one shady bastard.
- 58:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 58:46Speaker 6: He's up to no good at all times trying to
- 58:48Speaker 6: bring us down but.
- 58:50Speaker 1: This i'm not this movie it was i like the
- 58:53Speaker 1: look of this movie i think that's probably one of
- 58:54Speaker 1: the things that won me over more than anything else
- 58:57Speaker 1: and i was looking i'd be like damn that's i
- 58:59Speaker 1: usually don't i'm i'm an uncultured swine when it comes
- 59:02Speaker 1: to movies i'm just like give me the blood and
- 59:04Speaker 1: guts and some boobies and that's all i need in
- 59:06Speaker 1: my movie but when you actually get the shots i'm
- 59:08Speaker 1: like wow that's really nicely shot i like the angle
- 59:10Speaker 1: of that. I like the lighting. I like the colors.
- 59:13Speaker 6: I think the visuals look good on the stuff they
- 59:16Speaker 6: were trying really hard for, which is usually the otherworldly,
- 59:19Speaker 6: other side of the void things. And then the other
- 59:22Speaker 6: stuff was kind of normal most of the time. It's
- 59:24Speaker 6: like you could see the shots. They were like, oh, no,
- 59:26Speaker 6: I want this.
- 59:26Speaker 7: One to look good.
- 59:27Speaker 1: And it's good.
- 59:28Speaker 6: And then there's lots of other random hospital shots that
- 59:30Speaker 6: just kind of look like a TV show level of
- 59:33Speaker 6: random hospital shots.
- 59:35Speaker 1: And I want to retract. I really don't need the
- 59:36Speaker 1: boobies in my movies. I just like the blood.
- 59:38Speaker 6: I was like, well, I'm on board with you there.
- 59:42Speaker 1: I was on a rant about blood and guts, and
- 59:44Speaker 1: I just threw boobies in there. And then I'm like, no,
- 59:45Speaker 1: that's not really what I'm looking for. Usually, I'm kind
- 59:47Speaker 1: of like, I don't need that.
- 59:48Speaker 6: Not even for grading purposes? No. You're like, hers aren't
- 59:52Speaker 6: up to speed. No.
- 59:53Speaker 3: No. No.
- 59:55Speaker 1: But just, yeah, just the quality of some of the scenes.
- 59:57Speaker 1: I mean, because I had never, like I said, this
- 59:59Speaker 1: wasn't one that I'd heard anything about, really, except if
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: it hadn't been on that list, I'd have had no
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: idea that this movie existed, you know? Some parts of
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: it did seem kind of low quality, but the shots
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: that were, it was good, you know? And the shots
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: that were just like, holy shit, were like, holy shit.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: And then the most important part for me, not gonna lie,
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: watched it and I'm like, where do I know this
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: old guy from? I know that I know him. And
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: I'm like, oh my god. It's the guy with the
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: most majestic hair in all the lands.
- 1:00:26Speaker 6: We just talked about him like two weeks ago.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it was Art Hendel. Is that his name?
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:00:32Speaker 6: You looked him up.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: I did look him up.
- 1:00:33Speaker 6: I've seen him in the real world. He was at
- 1:00:36Speaker 6: a convention not too many years ago.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Was he still wearing the coat?
- 1:00:40Speaker 6: I don't know if he brought the coat. I feel
- 1:00:41Speaker 6: like if I were him, I would walk around in
- 1:00:43Speaker 6: the coat all the time.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: Yeah, because he was in, I've only seen him in
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: two movies in his, let me say heyday, glory days.
- 1:00:52Speaker 6: The glory that is his hair days.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: Dude, that hair, that hair deserves like an IMD page
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: all its own. That hair is glorious.
- 1:01:02Speaker 6: And could only exist in the 70s.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: Possibly early 80s.
- 1:01:04Speaker 6: People wearing it now, yeah. People wearing it now, you'd
- 1:01:07Speaker 6: be like, what are you doing?
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: I don't know. If they managed to carry it as
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: well as he did, I might give him a pass.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: If it was like, eh, like half-ass done, then no.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: But if it was like full-on, oh my god, that
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: guy has the hair from the guy that he had
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: Art Hendel in Black Christmas and or the Octagon, I
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: would be all about that shit because that's who it was.
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: And the fact that I recognize this grizzled old dude
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: as that guy, I was pretty impressed with myself. And
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: he was wearing a hat, so I couldn't even see
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: the hair.
- 1:01:33Speaker 6: The hair is not quite the same these days.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm going to assume it's not there. And he
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: wasn't even wearing the jacket. He should have worn the
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: jacket like every movie so that I should know who
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: he is.
- 1:01:42Speaker 6: That would make it easier. For some reason, you just
- 1:01:44Speaker 6: wander around in a big fur coat in a beach
- 1:01:46Speaker 6: movie and stuff. Be like, why is that?
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: Maybe he would have lived longer in this movie if
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: he'd worn that coat. Is that monster to be like, whoa,
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: I'm not messing with this guy.
- 1:01:53Speaker 6: That coat is too nice to mess up. I don't
- 1:01:55Speaker 6: want to get blood all over that coat.
- 1:01:58Speaker 7: Let's see.
- 1:01:58Speaker 6: Where do we begin? I was going to say the thing.
- 1:02:00Speaker 6: I will give it. that I'm giving it a lot
- 1:02:03Speaker 6: of points for is that it did have a lot
- 1:02:07Speaker 6: of blood and guts.
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: Yes, it did.
- 1:02:08Speaker 6: And it was all practical. Like, I did not see
- 1:02:11Speaker 6: anything in that movie that was not a physical thing
- 1:02:14Speaker 6: that somebody built.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't notice any XCG. No.
- 1:02:18Speaker 6: Until, like, the end. Which is really weird.
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: Until, like, the end when they.
- 1:02:21Speaker 7: Were at the.
- 1:02:21Speaker 6: I mean, the screen behind... Standing in front of a
- 1:02:24Speaker 6: green screen to do, like, a background is one thing. But, like,
- 1:02:26Speaker 6: when there's blood and guts and effects going on around
- 1:02:29Speaker 6: you all the time.
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: All the creatures.
- 1:02:31Speaker 6: Creatures everywhere.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: Everything felt real.
- 1:02:34Speaker 7: Creatures looked.
- 1:02:34Speaker 6: And they were all, like... physical, real, practical effects. And
- 1:02:38Speaker 6: that's very impressive. Especially in these days, getting it made
- 1:02:42Speaker 6: in the last couple years.
- 1:02:44Speaker 7: The whole basement with all the creatures reminded me of the...
- 1:02:49Speaker 7: Was it the Bride of Re-Animator? I think it's the
- 1:02:52Speaker 7: Bride of Re-Animator where he's experimented with all these different
- 1:02:57Speaker 7: creatures and they're all locked away in the basement.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: Yeah, it's... This movie took heavily from a lot of movies.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: There were scenes where I'm like, this looks like Uncle
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: Frank from Hellraiser.
- 1:03:09Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:03:10Speaker 7: Yeah, it had some aspects of Hellraiser. Had a little
- 1:03:15Speaker 7: Cthulhu mythos thrown into it.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: The thing heavily.
- 1:03:19Speaker 7: The thing. Reanimator.
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: What else?
- 1:03:25Speaker 6: Actually, even the first one I noticed was... when they
- 1:03:29Speaker 6: started taking their faces off, it was almost Nightbreed.
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:03:32Speaker 6: When he was in the hospital.
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 1:03:34Speaker 6: And let me show you my true face. And, like,
- 1:03:36Speaker 6: he starts peeling his face off.
- 1:03:37Speaker 7: And that lady, too, didn't the lady start cutting her
- 1:03:39Speaker 7: face off? Yeah, she started doing it first.
- 1:03:41Speaker 6: And that's when I was like.
- 1:03:42Speaker 7: Yeah, because she's like, this is not what we look
- 1:03:44Speaker 7: like or something like that.
- 1:03:45Speaker 6: This is not me.
- 1:03:46Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:03:46Speaker 6: And, like, yeah, I was like, this has already kind
- 1:03:49Speaker 6: of got a little Nightbreed in it. And, like, from there, like,
- 1:03:52Speaker 6: that's almost the other end of this for me. It's like,
- 1:03:54Speaker 6: the effects are kind of cool that they're all practical, but, like,
- 1:03:57Speaker 6: then the story... It's the most recycled mishmash of every
- 1:04:02Speaker 6: other movie.
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: It felt like it wanted to be a Clive Barker story.
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: Clive Barker and Lovecraft. If Clive Barker and Lovecraft had
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: a little bastard mutant child.
- 1:04:12Speaker 6: But it wasn't bad at all. I liked it.
- 1:04:14Speaker 7: Yeah, it wasn't like it was a blatant ripoff or
- 1:04:18Speaker 7: a bad ripoff. It was almost like kind of a
- 1:04:22Speaker 7: well done tribute.
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: I liked it.
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: I think me and you are not agreeing with Brian.
- 1:04:30Speaker 6: I just have issues with like the, the, what are
- 1:04:34Speaker 6: we doing here? Like if we're, I don't even mind.
- 1:04:36Speaker 6: Cause that's the thing I was trying to think like, okay,
- 1:04:38Speaker 6: if I go to make a movie now, how am
- 1:04:40Speaker 6: I not going to make something that kind of is
- 1:04:43Speaker 6: reminiscent of things that I grew up loving? So anybody
- 1:04:46Speaker 6: making a movie now, the creature, is it going to
- 1:04:48Speaker 6: start to look like the thing? Because the thing creatures
- 1:04:50Speaker 6: look so fucking cool. Like, when you want to make
- 1:04:53Speaker 6: something that enters into this weird sort of otherworldly demonic looking,
- 1:04:57Speaker 6: is it going to kind of be like Hellraiser? Like
- 1:04:59Speaker 6: it's hard to not fall into those categories when you're
- 1:05:02Speaker 6: doing this kind of horror. But I feel like my
- 1:05:05Speaker 6: issue is more like, what is the point? Like if
- 1:05:08Speaker 6: you can come up with some sort of reasoning and
- 1:05:11Speaker 6: almost like a story that supports going to these places,
- 1:05:14Speaker 6: I feel like they were almost just pulling all these things.
- 1:05:16Speaker 6: Like this is cool. And I like this thing and
- 1:05:18Speaker 6: I like this. And they shoved them all in there.
- 1:05:21Speaker 6: but I don't feel like there was a reason for any.
- 1:05:24Speaker 6: I feel like if you wrote a really strong plot
- 1:05:27Speaker 6: that made all of this come together into a reason
- 1:05:31Speaker 6: for all of it, because by the end I was
- 1:05:32Speaker 6: just like, okay, those things happened, but we don't have
- 1:05:37Speaker 6: any backstory on the cult. We don't know what they
- 1:05:40Speaker 6: are or why they're doing that. We don't know what
- 1:05:42Speaker 6: this otherworldly void is, why anybody's trying to get to
- 1:05:46Speaker 6: it is getting sucked into it. There's no... story that
- 1:05:50Speaker 6: ever really unfolds. You kind of piece together a few
- 1:05:53Speaker 6: things by the end.
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: Because if you were one of those people that were
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: in that hospital, you wouldn't know.
- 1:05:58Speaker 6: I like that. I like that midway in, we're thrown
- 1:06:01Speaker 6: into it as the audience the same way these characters are.
- 1:06:04Speaker 6: I don't have a problem with that. But for the
- 1:06:07Speaker 6: movie to work, to me, somebody needs to figure something out.
- 1:06:10Speaker 6: Even if it's just the audience.
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: You need that last minute exposition.
- 1:06:13Speaker 6: I don't want it overly explained. I just want, like,
- 1:06:16Speaker 6: by the end, I feel like we should at least
- 1:06:18Speaker 6: know what we're here for. Even if, like, the characters
- 1:06:21Speaker 6: are still kind of oblivious and, like, just thrown into
- 1:06:24Speaker 6: the hell dimension. But, like, I feel like we should
- 1:06:27Speaker 6: be able to piece together what the point of all this... Like,
- 1:06:30Speaker 6: if they're making some sort of point with this movie...
- 1:06:33Speaker 6: Somebody should know what it is, hopefully the audience. That
- 1:06:37Speaker 6: was more of my issue. Because by the end, I'm
- 1:06:39Speaker 6: just like, we were like, who's our favorite?
- 1:06:44Speaker 11: Kim.
- 1:06:45Speaker 6: Kim's like, is it over? And I'm like, is it?
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: I don't really know. And then you got one more
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: scene after that. And then you're like, no, what?
- 1:06:53Speaker 6: Not really, but maybe.
- 1:06:55Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: Maybe there's going to be a sequel.
- 1:06:59Speaker 6: Maybe they'll bust into some Pink Floyd music right about now.
- 1:07:03Speaker 6: Because it also kind of just feels like it wants
- 1:07:06Speaker 6: to be a trippy music video a good portion of
- 1:07:08Speaker 6: the time. Which it would be very successful at that.
- 1:07:11Speaker 6: Those visuals look pretty cool.
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: I'd say it looked really good. A lot of it
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: looked really good. And I still, for the most part,
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: have no idea of a lot of what happened. Like
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: the father and the son. What happened with that?
- 1:07:25Speaker 6: Which father's?
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: There's only one father and son. I mean, like, the
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: only father and son that are actually in the movie.
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: The mute guy.
- 1:07:32Speaker 6: Was that his kid?
- 1:07:34Speaker 12: I don't know.
- 1:07:34Speaker 6: I thought he said they killed his family. No, they
- 1:07:36Speaker 6: killed his family.
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: Oh, they did? Because on the IMD page, I think
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: it has enlisted as the father and the son.
- 1:07:40Speaker 6: Maybe it didn't. I don't know.
- 1:07:43Speaker 7: I mean, unless they say it, it's kind of like,
- 1:07:45Speaker 7: in a way, he takes him.
- 1:07:47Speaker 6: On under his wing. They become kind of like that.
- 1:07:50Speaker 6: But then that's one of those things. Like, that that
- 1:07:54Speaker 6: guy who would be the father, the, the older dude
- 1:07:57Speaker 6: of the two that can talk, he just like, like,
- 1:08:01Speaker 6: I don't know what we're supposed to do with him.
- 1:08:03Speaker 6: He just shows up and like, well, first scene, we
- 1:08:06Speaker 6: see them kill like, like a light a woman on fire.
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: Yeah, that shit came out of nowhere.
- 1:08:11Speaker 6: Yeah, just right off the bat. We're just like, okay,
- 1:08:14Speaker 6: we're shooting this woman and then lighting her on fire
- 1:08:16Speaker 6: while she's still alive.
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: Yeah, what the fuck was up with that? I want
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: to know more story about that.
- 1:08:20Speaker 6: That's what I'm saying. What just, like, there's some sort
- 1:08:21Speaker 6: of bloodbath in that house we hear kind of a
- 1:08:24Speaker 6: little bit about, but not enough to actually know what's
- 1:08:26Speaker 6: going on. Yeah. And then, like, so it's like, okay,
- 1:08:29Speaker 6: at that point we've assumed those two are, like, the villains. Like,
- 1:08:33Speaker 6: they're the... Killers out in the woods that are chasing
- 1:08:35Speaker 6: down innocent kids. And those two kids were... But, like,
- 1:08:38Speaker 6: then as it expands, I'm like, okay, now we're on
- 1:08:40Speaker 6: their side. But by the time those two get to
- 1:08:43Speaker 6: the hospital, like, the older dude is just being a dick.
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: The older dude is also in Pawnee Pool, which was
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: also mentioned during this movie, too, for some reason.
- 1:08:54Speaker 6: Because... Well, because he was next to the old sitting
- 1:08:57Speaker 6: next to the dude with the hair at the convention
- 1:08:59Speaker 6: we were but i don't know like that's the thing
- 1:09:03Speaker 6: i i got to the point where i'm like i
- 1:09:05Speaker 6: got so sick of the the older guy the dad
- 1:09:08Speaker 6: version because he was just being a jackass to everybody
- 1:09:11Speaker 6: but he wouldn't like he wouldn't explain anything he wouldn't
- 1:09:14Speaker 6: like it under those circumstances be like okay If you're
- 1:09:17Speaker 6: here and you think you're taking control of this place, fine,
- 1:09:19Speaker 6: but give us some answers. Like, explain who you are
- 1:09:21Speaker 6: and who these people are and why we're trying to
- 1:09:23Speaker 6: fight this creature.
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: And what happened.
- 1:09:25Speaker 6: But why would you just blindly go along with, okay,
- 1:09:28Speaker 6: you've got a gun. Like, nobody's questioning, like, all of
- 1:09:31Speaker 6: this crazy, surreal shit's going on around you. You're not
- 1:09:33Speaker 6: going to be like, okay, if you think you're in charge,
- 1:09:35Speaker 6: then explain something to me. But, like, he doesn't do that.
- 1:09:38Speaker 6: And nobody even questions him for that kind of information.
- 1:09:41Speaker 6: They're just... Everyone just sort of follows him because it's
- 1:09:44Speaker 6: a hostage situation all of a sudden. But I'm like,
- 1:09:48Speaker 6: I don't know. I think for him to kind of
- 1:09:50Speaker 6: be our new, I don't know, I guess the cops
- 1:09:52Speaker 6: most lead-ish for a while. But like, we're still following
- 1:09:56Speaker 6: these two other guys around. And I'm like, okay, if
- 1:09:59Speaker 6: we think they're the good guys now, or we're at
- 1:10:01Speaker 6: least supposed to be following them as characters, like, he
- 1:10:05Speaker 6: can't continue to be a jackass the whole time. Like,
- 1:10:08Speaker 6: we have to kind of, get on board with him
- 1:10:11Speaker 6: right like he never really redeems himself he's at least
- 1:10:15Speaker 6: kind of fighting the creatures the whole time but other
- 1:10:18Speaker 6: than that.
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: Like i don't he's fighting pretty much everybody the whole.
- 1:10:21Speaker 6: Time yeah like everybody other than the kid the mute
- 1:10:23Speaker 6: kid with him like everybody else he's like kind of
- 1:10:26Speaker 6: fighting with the entire movie and i'm like i don't
- 1:10:28Speaker 6: i don't like this guy so why am i watching
- 1:10:30Speaker 6: him our cop guy really doesn't carry the plot himself
- 1:10:35Speaker 6: so it's like I don't know what's going on with him.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: They have their own backstory with him and the nurse lady.
- 1:10:41Speaker 6: Which again, they lead into a little bit with that.
- 1:10:44Speaker 6: I don't know that it even makes good by the end.
- 1:10:48Speaker 6: It's just sort of a fact that they throw in
- 1:10:49Speaker 6: there for a little extra character development. Kind of. Maybe.
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: I didn't understand the whole spoiler alert. Now she's a mother.
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: What exactly is she the mother of?
- 1:11:01Speaker 6: Is that the younger mother? Or then they made her.
- 1:11:06Speaker 6: The one that was pregnant?
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: No, his ex-wife.
- 1:11:09Speaker 6: His wife also became mother of some sort of creature thing.
- 1:11:13Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 1:11:14Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:11:15Speaker 7: He was going to make her a mother.
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: Of what?
- 1:11:18Speaker 7: Of the creature.
- 1:11:19Speaker 6: Of whatever, again, that's the problem.
- 1:11:22Speaker 7: Whatever it is that was coming out of the boy.
- 1:11:23Speaker 6: We don't know what's going on.
- 1:11:24Speaker 7: He was transforming her.
- 1:11:27Speaker 6: Maybe she'd have a buffalo baby like that other one did.
- 1:11:30Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:11:31Speaker 6: That giant mutant, like, it was all front weight. Like,
- 1:11:34Speaker 6: it was huge, but it was all in the front half,
- 1:11:36Speaker 6: like a buffalo.
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: It was bigger than the girl it came out of.
- 1:11:38Speaker 6: Yeah, way bigger than the girl it came out of.
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: Well, it grew up.
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: Oh, real fast?
- 1:11:41Speaker 7: Yeah, real fast.
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: Like one of those just add water, you just, like,
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: little sponges you put in water, and it just, like.
- 1:11:47Speaker 8: Expands, like, real fast.
- 1:11:48Speaker 6: A Hellraiser buffalo creature would chase the dude around for
- 1:11:50Speaker 6: another five minutes.
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: The It Hellraiser thing, buffalo creature.
- 1:11:55Speaker 6: Yeah, all of those things. Everything it stole from.
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: It's ridiculous this movie because I still liked it.
- 1:12:01Speaker 6: Because then even the shots with the cult guys were
- 1:12:05Speaker 6: almost out of another movie. That's a different type of
- 1:12:08Speaker 6: movie than the weird thing creatures that were crawling around
- 1:12:11Speaker 6: in the hospital. Then the Hellraiser Dimension guy at the end.
- 1:12:15Speaker 6: They all just were pasted together into this collage of
- 1:12:20Speaker 6: a film.
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: Well, the people in white were kind of like their
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: purpose was like kind of to keep the people there
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: and to assist the doctor.
- 1:12:29Speaker 6: They could have tied into it. But again, we never
- 1:12:32Speaker 6: got enough of a story to figure out why they
- 1:12:35Speaker 6: tied into it or what they were. Again, we're assuming
- 1:12:38Speaker 6: they're a cult that follows whoever the Frank guy was
- 1:12:41Speaker 6: at the end. But Uncle Frank, that he wasn't really
- 1:12:46Speaker 6: in this movie.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: Uncle Frank Ultron. Yeah.
- 1:12:48Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:12:49Speaker 6: He wishes he sounded like James Spader.
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: I don't care, I liked it. I enjoyed this movie.
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: Because I like all the movies that it ripped off.
- 1:12:59Speaker 6: That helps a little bit. Giving credit to our favorite
- 1:13:02Speaker 6: cast member, Kim.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: Kim was great.
- 1:13:04Speaker 6: Ellen Wong. And the reason she's great is because.
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: She's the Dante. Am I supposed to be here today?
- 1:13:11Speaker 6: I did almost say that while we were watching it.
- 1:13:13Speaker 6: Because she starts off as the Dante. But by the end,
- 1:13:16Speaker 6: there's so many horror movies you watch and people just
- 1:13:20Speaker 6: are immersed in the craziest shit all of a sudden.
- 1:13:23Speaker 6: And they have the weirdest response to it. Where every time,
- 1:13:27Speaker 6: throughout the movie, everything Kim said, I'm like, nope, that's accurate.
- 1:13:31Speaker 6: At any point when she was just like, the fuck
- 1:13:35Speaker 6: is going on? She always had a very... just believing,
- 1:13:41Speaker 6: why am I immersed in this? Like, I'm just very
- 1:13:44Speaker 6: kind of angry at the fact that this crazy shit
- 1:13:47Speaker 6: is being thrown at her.
- 1:13:48Speaker 7: Like, when they leave to go find that guy's wife,
- 1:13:50Speaker 7: she's like.
- 1:13:51Speaker 6: Why are you leaving us here alone?
- 1:13:52Speaker 4: What are we supposed to do?
- 1:13:54Speaker 6: Every time they go to her, like.
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: Well, I like in every other movie, too, in this situation, like,
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: under fire, like, the person pulls through, and they're like,
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: I gotta do this, and then, you know, they... And
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: she's like, I can't do this, I can't do it,
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: I can't do it.
- 1:14:05Speaker 7: Yeah, she didn't pull through at all. She cowered in
- 1:14:07Speaker 7: the closet the entire time. And I kind of thought,
- 1:14:11Speaker 7: I was like, is she going to survive? I was like,
- 1:14:12Speaker 7: she's probably going to survive because she's going to hide
- 1:14:14Speaker 7: in that damn closet until the end of the movie.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: And she did.
- 1:14:17Speaker 7: And she did.
- 1:14:18Speaker 6: Lessons learned, people.
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: Eh, you know.
- 1:14:20Speaker 6: In the middle of a horror scenario, go hide in
- 1:14:22Speaker 6: a closet somewhere.
- 1:14:23Speaker 7: Eh, you know.
- 1:14:24Speaker 6: You might survive.
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: When you are grossly outnumbered, like ridiculously.
- 1:14:29Speaker 6: By a weird mutant thing that you really don't understand
- 1:14:32Speaker 6: what the fuck is going on.
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: Sometimes hiding is truly the best option. Fight or flight.
- 1:14:38Speaker 6: You know?
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: And she can't leave, so hiding in a closet might
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: be your best bet for now.
- 1:14:42Speaker 6: You know? I do like that. I was trying to
- 1:14:45Speaker 6: make note. At one point, I think it was the
- 1:14:47Speaker 6: cop that said it, because that was two-thirds of the
- 1:14:50Speaker 6: way in, and we're still, like, you're even making comments of, like,
- 1:14:54Speaker 6: I'm not really sure what the fuck's going on, but
- 1:14:55Speaker 6: this looks pretty. So I'm like, at some point, the
- 1:14:57Speaker 6: cop actually says, we don't know what the fuck is
- 1:15:00Speaker 6: going on!
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:15:02Speaker 6: And I'm like, you and me both, buddy.
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: Like.
- 1:15:06Speaker 6: oh, there needs to be clarification and some sort of
- 1:15:09Speaker 6: expanding on this.
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: I do like that the dialogue did seem somewhat believable.
- 1:15:14Speaker 6: Out of frustration.
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: Yeah, because it's like, oh, is it boyfriend that said,
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: people react to ways that you would, you're like, that's
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: not what I would say to you. They're all stressed
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: out and then Kim won't do anything right.
- 1:15:30Speaker 7: Because she's freaking out. She doesn't know what to do
- 1:15:32Speaker 7: because she's in it. Okay, Kim's in like a, She's
- 1:15:35Speaker 7: a nurse's aide. I guess she's in training.
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: I guess.
- 1:15:37Speaker 6: Yeah, I was trying to. I was like, she's not
- 1:15:40Speaker 6: really a nurse. She doesn't seem to have any real training.
- 1:15:42Speaker 6: She is looking through the books. She says she's training,
- 1:15:45Speaker 6: but she seems to know absolutely nothing.
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: She's looking up some de-gloving, which let me tell you
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: right now, I have seen pictures of. It is not awesome.
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: Don't Google that.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: Do not Google de-gloving. It happened to the stunt woman
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: for Mila Jovovich in the last....
- 1:16:01Speaker 8: Resident Evil.
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: Resident Evil movie? She got de-gloved. Was it her hand
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: or her face that got de-gloved? It was her face,
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: I think.
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: Ooh.
- 1:16:07Speaker 6: That's good.
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: Anyway, it's not awesome. But yeah, anyways, Kim is probably
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: just not... She's probably being kind of spazzy. And the nurse,
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: the head nurse lady, is just like, oh, for fuck's sakes.
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: And I'm like, that's exactly what everyone said.
- 1:16:20Speaker 6: Well, see, that's the thing. Everybody else going into that
- 1:16:23Speaker 6: scenario is pretty genuine. Even the cop who, again, isn't
- 1:16:26Speaker 6: the strongest lead for us, but he's kind of who
- 1:16:29Speaker 6: we're following.
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: It's a small town cop. It's not like.
- 1:16:32Speaker 6: But his response is pretty genuine because all of these
- 1:16:37Speaker 6: weird things, like the first half of the run through
- 1:16:39Speaker 6: with him, I'm like, I kind of like what he's
- 1:16:41Speaker 6: doing because he's just constantly being thrown in the middle of,
- 1:16:44Speaker 6: what the fuck? I just had to shoot some lady
- 1:16:46Speaker 6: that I've probably never shot a person before.
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: Who's peeling her face off.
- 1:16:50Speaker 6: Now there's like this crazy people coming in there with
- 1:16:53Speaker 6: an ax and they're trying to kill us and there's
- 1:16:55Speaker 6: a creature I just killed and I don't know what the. So, like,
- 1:16:57Speaker 6: by the time we get to that point, and he's like,
- 1:16:59Speaker 6: we don't know what the fuck is going on, like,
- 1:17:01Speaker 6: he's like, you've got the gun, you know, okay, fine,
- 1:17:03Speaker 6: you think you're gonna take control of this, but at
- 1:17:05Speaker 6: that point, like, the other guy with the beard needs
- 1:17:07Speaker 6: to go like, alright, look, here's the situation, like, we
- 1:17:10Speaker 6: need to be brought in on the, like, somebody needs
- 1:17:12Speaker 6: to know what the hell's going on, they're bringing the
- 1:17:15Speaker 6: story in from the very first thing i feel like
- 1:17:18Speaker 6: he needs to be the character obviously can't be the
- 1:17:20Speaker 6: mute kid so he needs to be the character that's
- 1:17:22Speaker 6: like okay let's at least maybe illuminate a little bit
- 1:17:26Speaker 6: of what's going on in.
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: This he was sending it to it telepathically and we
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: just missed.
- 1:17:30Speaker 6: It to me my rabbit ears were bent or something
- 1:17:33Speaker 6: because i wasn't picking it up it.
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: Didn't come through on the signal.
- 1:17:36Speaker 6: So yeah it's like i don't even blame the cop
- 1:17:38Speaker 6: character because i like him being thrown into like one
- 1:17:41Speaker 6: scenario after another of like weird shit going on that
- 1:17:44Speaker 6: he's totally not prepared for and he comes off pretty
- 1:17:47Speaker 6: genuine too it's that other guy that's just being a
- 1:17:50Speaker 6: dick for no reason and won't tell them what's going
- 1:17:52Speaker 6: on even if he doesn't know it's like he doesn't
- 1:17:54Speaker 6: just say I don't know either just like help me
- 1:17:56Speaker 6: stay alive like that would make sense but like he
- 1:17:59Speaker 6: just acts like he knows what's going on but won't
- 1:18:01Speaker 6: tell anybody else smug bastard yep do you like the morgue.
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: Nursery yeah it's like you don't have I'm sorry they
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: were in the basement yes Or, eventually.
- 1:18:15Speaker 7: Here's the thing. Here's what happened.
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: Okay?
- 1:18:17Speaker 7: We got a little confused through.
- 1:18:20Speaker 8: Part of it.
- 1:18:21Speaker 7: Like, how it got burned out. But if you realize
- 1:18:24Speaker 7: that the part where she's talking on the radio, she's
- 1:18:27Speaker 7: giving them directions how to get to the morgue. And
- 1:18:33Speaker 7: she's like, you know, it's down the stairwell. And he's like,
- 1:18:37Speaker 7: you know, they've already gone down the stairwell. He's like,
- 1:18:39Speaker 7: there's another stairwell. And she's like, what are you talking about?
- 1:18:41Speaker 7: There's only one stairwell. You don't really get it. You
- 1:18:44Speaker 7: don't really pick up on it until the end of
- 1:18:45Speaker 7: the movie where you realize that at that point, the
- 1:18:49Speaker 7: burned out area... they're actually traveling. I guess a part
- 1:18:52Speaker 7: of that.
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: I immediately got that.
- 1:18:53Speaker 7: I'm just trying to figure out the dimension.
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: The morgue was like.
- 1:18:57Speaker 6: Yeah, that was the part you seemed weirded out by
- 1:18:59Speaker 6: before they got to the stairwell into hell.
- 1:19:01Speaker 7: But at that point, it had already pulled in. And
- 1:19:04Speaker 7: what he saw, the nursery. He was seeing that because
- 1:19:10Speaker 7: he had lost his child.
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:19:13Speaker 7: That's why. They were each seeing weird shit because it.
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: Was getting in their head. But I didn't think they
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: hadn't gone down the second set of stairs.
- 1:19:18Speaker 12: Yet, had they?
- 1:19:19Speaker 7: It didn't matter. It was already starting to bleed into
- 1:19:22Speaker 7: that point.
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: I thought that was part of the fire burned out part.
- 1:19:25Speaker 7: It was, but it was starting to, that part of
- 1:19:28Speaker 7: that dimension was already kind of bleeding into the real world.
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: Makes way more sense. You're way smarter than me.
- 1:19:33Speaker 6: Yeah, you're piecing this together more than maybe the filmmakers.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: Considering you slept through like the first part of it,
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: you're doing way better.
- 1:19:40Speaker 6: Than I was.
- 1:19:42Speaker 7: Can't help it, I was tired.
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: You took a nap earlier.
- 1:19:44Speaker 7: Doesn't mean shit.
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:19:47Speaker 7: I slept three hours last night.
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: But, I mean, yeah, the visuals of it was what
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: won me over and made it worth it.
- 1:19:55Speaker 7: The visuals were beautiful. In the alternate dimension.
- 1:19:57Speaker 6: I think it hits a turning point, too. Other than,
- 1:20:00Speaker 6: and that's kind of where it starts, is when we
- 1:20:02Speaker 6: get to, like, we've already killed a monster, we've been
- 1:20:05Speaker 6: through all this other stuff, but, like, the dude won't
- 1:20:08Speaker 6: explain what's going on. But then when we get to
- 1:20:11Speaker 6: the point where they start to split up and then
- 1:20:14Speaker 6: she goes to get the medicine for her and then
- 1:20:16Speaker 6: gets taken by Uncle Frank.
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: She's getting medicine for the pregnant girl.
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: I hope anybody missed that.
- 1:20:21Speaker 6: Yeah, she went to the.
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: Did we mention?
- 1:20:24Speaker 6: We didn't even go into the pregnant girl. There's a
- 1:20:25Speaker 6: pregnant girl and her grandfather there, too. And she starts
- 1:20:28Speaker 6: going into kind of labor or demon possession or whatever's
- 1:20:32Speaker 6: going on. She's having issues. And the only person there
- 1:20:36Speaker 6: with any medical training goes to get... What medicine she can.
- 1:20:39Speaker 6: Not Kim. Not Kim. Not Kim at all. And she
- 1:20:43Speaker 6: goes to get medicine and then gets like kidnapped. She
- 1:20:46Speaker 6: gets neuted at this point. At every point, this is, again,
- 1:20:51Speaker 6: that's why I say like it also kind of, there's
- 1:20:53Speaker 6: many moments I feel like it kind of borrows from Aliens.
- 1:20:56Speaker 6: Not in the creatures, but in like the pacing of like, okay.
- 1:20:59Speaker 6: The creature might have just killed this person any other time.
- 1:21:02Speaker 6: But this one character that we might need later, they're
- 1:21:04Speaker 6: going to take them and go keep them at their
- 1:21:06Speaker 6: main headquarters so that we can have a big finale later.
- 1:21:09Speaker 6: And they'll still kind of be there for the big finale.
- 1:21:12Speaker 6: So it takes her like new and runs off to
- 1:21:14Speaker 6: the big. I'm like, from that point on, I feel
- 1:21:16Speaker 6: like everything slowed down a lot. And I'm like, I
- 1:21:20Speaker 6: was kind of on board up until that. And then
- 1:21:22Speaker 6: it felt like the plot wasn't going anywhere because we
- 1:21:25Speaker 6: didn't have one. And then, like, at least before, the
- 1:21:27Speaker 6: action was kind of cool, and we were getting a
- 1:21:29Speaker 6: lot of, like, firefights and monsters and, like, all kinds
- 1:21:31Speaker 6: of other stuff.
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: It was a firefight?
- 1:21:33Speaker 6: And then it just went, like, a lot of dragging
- 1:21:36Speaker 6: around and walking through halls, and, like, until we got
- 1:21:39Speaker 6: to the big finale there in the super sub-basement of hell, like,
- 1:21:42Speaker 6: it just slowed down. I think that was the turning
- 1:21:44Speaker 6: point for me. Like, I was still kind of on
- 1:21:46Speaker 6: board up until the point where she disappears, and I
- 1:21:49Speaker 6: feel like they're almost, like, killing time for a little
- 1:21:50Speaker 6: while longer. Like, it could have only been a 60-minute story,
- 1:21:53Speaker 6: but then they went, well, we gotta make it feature-length.
- 1:21:55Speaker 9: Um.
- 1:21:56Speaker 6: Walk around for, like, 20 minutes before we get to
- 1:21:57Speaker 6: the finale.
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: Then you get to, like, where all the monsters are.
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: I like the monsters.
- 1:22:02Speaker 7: But again, I think a lot of it has to
- 1:22:04Speaker 7: do with the fact that, like, once again, that dimension's
- 1:22:07Speaker 7: bleeded into our realm. And if you remember, you know,
- 1:22:10Speaker 7: when you're in a dream and things drag on forever,
- 1:22:14Speaker 7: or you're walking through the hallway of your house and
- 1:22:16Speaker 7: all of a sudden that hallway stretches out for miles.
- 1:22:20Speaker 7: I think it's that kind of point because he's trying
- 1:22:22Speaker 7: to get to his wife, right? Ex-wife. Ex-wife and wife.
- 1:22:26Speaker 6: He said wife, so I thought it was one of
- 1:22:27Speaker 6: those they're not together, but maybe they're not officially divorced yet.
- 1:22:30Speaker 7: Yeah, but he's trying to get to her, but it
- 1:22:33Speaker 7: seems like they just keep walking forever and ever. And
- 1:22:37Speaker 7: there's another stairwell, and there's more creepy shit. And they're
- 1:22:43Speaker 7: all the... mutant monsters.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: And then they all start seeing things, which is when
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: I was like, this is like, they have some Event
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: Horizon in here, too.
- 1:22:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:22:50Speaker 6: See, that was another one that I was like, this
- 1:22:51Speaker 6: definitely has a little... It's like these guys grew up
- 1:22:54Speaker 6: watching a bunch of this stuff on VHS and like.
- 1:22:56Speaker 7: The thing they didn't explain that I didn't understand was
- 1:22:59Speaker 7: in the background a couple times you catch the glimpse of.
- 1:23:04Speaker 7: Either a woman holding a baby.
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: It was the bearded guy's wife.
- 1:23:07Speaker 7: It was his family, I think.
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: Because he was the one seeing it most of the time.
- 1:23:11Speaker 7: Because he was.
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: The one whose vision it was.
- 1:23:14Speaker 7: Because I only saw it one time behind the mute guy.
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: I saw it a couple times.
- 1:23:20Speaker 7: And then I saw her behind the gate and she
- 1:23:22Speaker 7: took off running.
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: Because I remember the bearded guy chased after her.
- 1:23:25Speaker 7: I think that's where they were going.
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: And that's how they ended up in his house.
- 1:23:30Speaker 7: Okay, yeah.
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: Because he had followed them there.
- 1:23:32Speaker 7: I thought they were in the mute guy's house.
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: I don't know, because it's like he had blamed him. Like,
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: it was his fault. Like, he was supposed to protect him. So,
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: did they know each other before whatever happened?
- 1:23:45Speaker 6: Which ones? The mute guy and the bearded guy? The
- 1:23:48Speaker 6: bearded guy. It doesn't seem like it. I mean, it
- 1:23:51Speaker 6: seems like they'd known each other longer than everybody else
- 1:23:54Speaker 6: in this new little scenario, but like.
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: Because he's like, you were supposed to protect him.
- 1:23:58Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:23:59Speaker 3: That.
- 1:24:00Speaker 6: These are my issues.
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: Well, I can piece together because there was that house
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: where the bloodbath was.
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: They had called in on the radio. I'm thinking that
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: house was where the original scene, the first scene takes place.
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: Because the guy said that girl picked him up and
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: they took him to a house to do drugs.
- 1:24:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: And there were people being tortured there.
- 1:24:18Speaker 7: Yeah, that is the first scene.
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: So was that the same house? Was it the guy's house?
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: Were they there torturing his family?
- 1:24:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:24:24Speaker 6: That became mine is how long has this been going on?
- 1:24:27Speaker 6: They certainly have a lot of these hooded characters, so
- 1:24:30Speaker 6: is this an ongoing thing and it's spreading more and
- 1:24:33Speaker 6: more physically in our world?
- 1:24:35Speaker 7: I think it is.
- 1:24:36Speaker 6: The more people they pick up, the more hooded characters
- 1:24:38Speaker 6: they have, the more small town, the small town they
- 1:24:41Speaker 6: go to. They capture more people. They all get recruited
- 1:24:44Speaker 6: in or sent to the Hell Dimension or whatever the
- 1:24:46Speaker 6: hell is going on.
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: And then get their heads smashed.
- 1:24:48Speaker 6: But has that guy been running from town to town
- 1:24:51Speaker 6: for the last two or three towns going through these
- 1:24:54Speaker 6: different little scenarios and somehow these two, the bearded guy
- 1:24:57Speaker 6: and the mute kid, have survived?
- 1:24:59Speaker 7: I don't think he's really been going town to town
- 1:25:01Speaker 7: because he's the doctor of that one town.
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: He's been there and established.
- 1:25:06Speaker 7: They know who he is and they know his daughter
- 1:25:08Speaker 7: passed away. And so he was like through his research.
- 1:25:12Speaker 7: And like you said, you never really find out where
- 1:25:14Speaker 7: he gets that book that the other guy picks up.
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: What the hell else is in that book other than
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: some pictures?
- 1:25:20Speaker 6: Oh yeah.
- 1:25:20Speaker 7: You see some symbols. So you assume it's some kind of,
- 1:25:24Speaker 7: you know, dark arts.
- 1:25:26Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:25:27Speaker 7: Or something to be able to travel into different dimensions
- 1:25:31Speaker 7: and stuff. Um, and you, and you can see that
- 1:25:34Speaker 7: he's like making different creatures and shit like that. But, um,
- 1:25:40Speaker 7: yeah i lost my train of.
- 1:25:41Speaker 6: Thought that's easy with this movie that's kind of how
- 1:25:44Speaker 6: this movie is too by the end it's like wait
- 1:25:46Speaker 6: what were we doing yeah i don't know put some
- 1:25:47Speaker 6: hellraiser shit in there and call it.
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: A movie but i enjoyed it fully i know you
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: didn't seem.
- 1:25:52Speaker 17: To enjoy it again i don't you at least stayed
- 1:25:54Speaker 17: awake i yeah i don't usually it's a struggle it's
- 1:25:57Speaker 17: not like i hated it i just feel like it
- 1:25:59Speaker 17: has issues like i feel like there's a lot of
- 1:26:01Speaker 17: potential there to make kind of a cool little indie
- 1:26:04Speaker 17: horror movie, but it loses its way.
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: It had a very good frame and very good visuals,
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: but it needed a little bit more fleshing out.
- 1:26:10Speaker 6: Yeah, it needed to figure out what it's like. I'm
- 1:26:12Speaker 6: not even sure if they know. I feel like, because
- 1:26:14Speaker 6: I think the directors are the writers as well, so
- 1:26:17Speaker 6: I'm sure kind of in their head, they have an idea,
- 1:26:19Speaker 6: but I'm wondering if you pin them down to explain
- 1:26:23Speaker 6: all these questions that we're throwing out there. Would the
- 1:26:26Speaker 6: two of them have kind of different things? With so
- 1:26:29Speaker 6: much of it sort of in their own head that
- 1:26:31Speaker 6: they didn't put on paper, that even they kind of
- 1:26:34Speaker 6: have a different take on what all this is supposed
- 1:26:36Speaker 6: to represent.
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: I wonder if they're secretly, like, an extended director's cut,
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: and this is what they had to, like, narrow it
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: down to, and.
- 1:26:41Speaker 6: Wouldn't surprise me, kind of, the way it's edited together,
- 1:26:45Speaker 6: because there are also, like, a few choppy little edits there. Like,
- 1:26:47Speaker 6: that one in the hallway, when he takes the trooper guy.
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: I was like, what just happened?
- 1:26:51Speaker 6: Yeah, I was like that, too. I was like, wait, who...
- 1:26:53Speaker 6: First of all, who got taken? Like, I couldn't even
- 1:26:54Speaker 6: tell it went so quick, so... Mitchell. At first, I
- 1:26:57Speaker 6: thought that was such a, like... I thought it was
- 1:26:59Speaker 6: almost like a trying to... hide the budget restraints because
- 1:27:03Speaker 6: we didn't have time to show this creature, so we
- 1:27:05Speaker 6: just cut it real quick. But by the end, there's
- 1:27:07Speaker 6: tons of creatures. I'm like, why did they edit it
- 1:27:09Speaker 6: that way? When you spend so much time on all
- 1:27:13Speaker 6: those physical creatures later, I'm like, maybe they just lost
- 1:27:16Speaker 6: a shot towards there or something. I don't know. I
- 1:27:18Speaker 6: had to edit real quick, but that part was really weird.
- 1:27:22Speaker 6: So I was like, I don't know. I'm not sure
- 1:27:24Speaker 6: what the issues were. They were fighting with some of
- 1:27:27Speaker 6: these things.
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: I'm wondering if there's a Blu-ray special edition extended director's
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: cut that has an explanation as to what the fuck happened.
- 1:27:38Speaker 6: Director commentaries.
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 1:27:39Speaker 6: They can both sit there and flesh it all out
- 1:27:41Speaker 6: for us.
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: I wonder if we Googled, like, the void explanation.
- 1:27:45Speaker 6: I'm sure some weirdo on YouTube will spend time explaining it.
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: I wonder if there's just, like, a blog. You could
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: discuss things amongst yourself while I Google something else for you.
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: They're just talking about it. They're not, like, giving me
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: all of it.
- 1:28:05Speaker 6: Explaining it again about what we just did. Here's some
- 1:28:08Speaker 6: things that we saw on the screen. I don't know
- 1:28:11Speaker 6: that they can pin down exactly what's going on.
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: It's from Den of Geek, where it says, Letting the
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: thick atmosphere, sober tone, and truly gonzo visuals carry the film,
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: even while their script doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Amen.
- 1:28:24Speaker 6: That was my take. And I blame Bill Sey.
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: Bill Cipher.
- 1:28:29Speaker 6: See, that's the thing. Those short episodes of Gravity Falls
- 1:28:36Speaker 6: are so much well fleshed out. So much better fleshed
- 1:28:40Speaker 6: out story-wise than this 90-minute movie. That just shows you
- 1:28:45Speaker 6: when you get somebody who is a good writer and
- 1:28:47Speaker 6: a good storyteller how well you can paint these characters
- 1:28:51Speaker 6: in a short amount of time, orchestrate this bigger story,
- 1:28:55Speaker 6: and have it come together. They need to get together
- 1:28:57Speaker 6: with that Gravity Falls guy.
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: Broke my damn heart when I heard that they canceled
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: that series. Yeah.
- 1:29:02Speaker 7: That was really good.
- 1:29:03Speaker 6: That was the network. That was a good show.
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: But the Simpsons have been on for how fucking long?
- 1:29:08Speaker 6: But that was the network's doing. And I think even
- 1:29:10Speaker 6: he was just kind of like, eh, it's fine. He's like,
- 1:29:12Speaker 6: I've got other stories. Like, I think he wants to
- 1:29:14Speaker 6: do other stuff.
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: But I want to hear this story.
- 1:29:17Speaker 6: I agree. I would have taken a couple more seasons.
- 1:29:19Speaker 6: I think it definitely could have supported a few more seasons.
- 1:29:23Speaker 6: But it is what the world works for.
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: In mysterious ways. I want to know more about Grendel.
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: Was her name Grenda? Grendel? Come on, y'all. I'm talking
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: about the big girl. She was funny.
- 1:29:34Speaker 3: Oh.
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: Her friends. Was it Candy and Grendel?
- 1:29:37Speaker 6: Her friends are all like.
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: Grenda?
- 1:29:39Speaker 6: Those three. What a little trio.
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: I went through a hit and a miss with the Mabel.
- 1:29:48Speaker 6: Mabel's annoying, but you know, she's a sister.
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: Sometimes she was funny, but sometimes she was just a
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: self-centered little bitch, and I'm just like, Come on, dude.
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: Let Dipper have something of his own. She was like,
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: everything had to be around her. And I'm just like, God, no.
- 1:30:00Speaker 6: There's a lot of people like that, sadly, in the world.
- 1:30:05Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:30:06Speaker 6: Anything else? We've kind of rounded out this movie.
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: I need to watch some more Art Hendel 70s movies.
- 1:30:12Speaker 4: 80s.
- 1:30:13Speaker 3: 70s, 80s.
- 1:30:14Speaker 6: Find more of him. And definitely, I'm assuming he'll have
- 1:30:16Speaker 6: the hair. Whether or not he has the coat, I
- 1:30:18Speaker 6: don't know. But he needs to walk around in that
- 1:30:21Speaker 6: coat all the time. He can let me wear it.
- 1:30:23Speaker 6: He might. Maybe if he makes another appearance, we'll see
- 1:30:27Speaker 6: if he can bring the coat. Didn't you say you
- 1:30:30Speaker 6: watched something?
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: Oh, we did watch one other movie. We didn't catch
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: the actual day because it was on, I forget what
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: day it was. But shortly after Rex Manning Day, his
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: boyfriend had never seen Empire Records.
- 1:30:49Speaker 6: Oh, there are many a time when I've gone, it's
- 1:30:51Speaker 6: Rex Manning Day. Me too. 90% of the time people
- 1:30:55Speaker 6: are like, what the hell is wrong with you? What
- 1:30:56Speaker 6: are you talking about?
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: Yeah, that responds to most things in life. But I
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: was just, I was, I was, I was, I love
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: that movie.
- 1:31:04Speaker 6: That's another one that. I kind of love it, and
- 1:31:08Speaker 6: I realize what a flawed movie it is at the
- 1:31:11Speaker 6: same time. It's not a great movie, but you have
- 1:31:14Speaker 6: to love so much of it. There's so many enjoyable
- 1:31:18Speaker 6: things in it, like Warren.
- 1:31:21Speaker 4: God, I love Warren.
- 1:31:22Speaker 6: He's such a bastard. The most fun part of it.
- 1:31:26Speaker 6: But yeah, there's so many great moments in it, and
- 1:31:29Speaker 6: then sometimes you're just like, it's so generic and cliched.
- 1:31:34Speaker 6: I love it. It's ridiculous and great.
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: It even makes Renee Zellweger tolerable, and that is a
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: task in and of itself.
- 1:31:40Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:31:42Speaker 6: It's got some great stuff in it, though. It does.
- 1:31:45Speaker 6: The dude gluing money to the floor. That's one of
- 1:31:51Speaker 6: my favorites, because what is his response? Why does he
- 1:31:54Speaker 6: say he has reason for it?
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: God, I don't remember, and we just fucking watched it.
- 1:31:59Speaker 6: I don't know. That guy, because he's the one from
- 1:32:03Speaker 6: Days to Confuse, too. I think he ended up on,
- 1:32:06Speaker 6: he's the long hair.
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: No, he's not. Not the guy who'd go on pennies
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: to the floor.
- 1:32:10Speaker 6: Well, no, the other one.
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, Rory Cochran. Lucas, was that his name? Is
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: he Lucas?
- 1:32:15Speaker 6: Because he's in that, and I think he went on
- 1:32:18Speaker 6: to be in one of the cop shows, one of
- 1:32:20Speaker 6: the random, that's like, yeah, it was years later. I
- 1:32:23Speaker 6: was like, what happened to that guy? And then he's
- 1:32:24Speaker 6: on that. So they brought in a pretty amazing cast
- 1:32:28Speaker 6: for that time. That time and place in the world.
- 1:32:31Speaker 6: But yeah, it's got so many redeeming qualities. It makes
- 1:32:35Speaker 6: me overlook what a generic mainstream mess it is.
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: Yeah, Boyfriend was like, was there really a Rex Manning?
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: How did I miss that? I'm like, no, it's just
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: for the movie.
- 1:32:44Speaker 6: It's Rex Manning day.
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: Although that is also the guy who was in Grease 2.
- 1:32:50Speaker 6: Nobody, I think, fucking saw. He's super dreamy there, too.
- 1:32:54Speaker 7: Wait, who is he in Grease 2?
- 1:32:56Speaker 6: He's the main guy.
- 1:32:56Speaker 7: He's the main character.
- 1:32:57Speaker 8: He's Slicker.
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:32:58Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 1:32:59Speaker 7: Yeah, Grease 2 sucked.
- 1:33:01Speaker 6: I don't think that's the first time people have made that.
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: Let's tell Michelle Pfeiffer you said that.
- 1:33:06Speaker 6: She'll be so upset. Go for it. She'll be so upset.
- 1:33:12Speaker 6: She's like, that's my crowning jewel. Not all these other
- 1:33:16Speaker 6: Oscar caliber performances.
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: No, no.
- 1:33:19Speaker 7: I don't even think she gets out of the house.
- 1:33:20Speaker 6: I'm most proud of Grease 2.
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: I was just trying to figure out whatever happened to
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: Debbie Mazor.
- 1:33:29Speaker 6: She's still out there.
- 1:33:30Speaker 3: Is she?
- 1:33:31Speaker 6: I know a couple of years ago I saw her
- 1:33:33Speaker 6: in something.
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: All I can name her in is this and Space Truckers.
- 1:33:36Speaker 6: She had her own sitcom. I remember maybe shortly after
- 1:33:41Speaker 6: Space Truckers.
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: Why have we not done that movie yet? Have we
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: done that? Did we do it and I forgot?
- 1:33:47Speaker 6: That wouldn't surprise me, but I don't think officially we have.
- 1:33:50Speaker 6: I think we just watched it and our lives were changed.
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: I know I've watched it more than once. And they're
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: square pigs for fuck's sakes.
- 1:33:58Speaker 6: I talked about it with George Wynn. Specifically because I'm like, dude,
- 1:34:03Speaker 6: you were in Space Truckers. I was thinking about that.
- 1:34:06Speaker 6: There was a Cheers rerun on today. And I was
- 1:34:08Speaker 6: just like, not only did I talk to that guy,
- 1:34:10Speaker 6: but I talked to him about square pigs.
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: What did you say about Space Truckers? I never listened
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: to the show.
- 1:34:15Speaker 6: That's your own fault. Everyone should go back and listen
- 1:34:19Speaker 6: to that George Wynn piece. It's pretty awesome.
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: It's a great movie. Stephen Dorff at his hottest.
- 1:34:27Speaker 6: He's back now. He's in something else, too, that I
- 1:34:30Speaker 6: just saw.
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: Not the text, not the chainsaw.
- 1:34:33Speaker 6: Well, it was right after you talked about that. So
- 1:34:35Speaker 6: I'm like, I guess he's having a little resurgence now. Like,
- 1:34:38Speaker 6: he must need some work or something. Got a new
- 1:34:40Speaker 6: house to pay off because, like, he's all of a
- 1:34:42Speaker 6: sudden doing stuff again. So he's got, I think, another
- 1:34:45Speaker 6: new movie coming out.
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: What the hell are you saying?
- 1:34:47Speaker 6: Like a bigger property than the Leatherface Kid. So he's
- 1:34:51Speaker 6: coming back.
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: Good for him.
- 1:34:53Speaker 6: You do it, dork.
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: Why isn't he at conventions? Because you would tackle him.
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: I say that about 90% of the people I talk about.
- 1:35:01Speaker 6: That's true. You do like to stalk a lot of people.
- 1:35:04Speaker 6: Some of them should just come closer to you.
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: Did we ever discuss Ethan Embry? I'm pretty sure we did.
- 1:35:11Speaker 6: We reference it on a regular. It's become part of
- 1:35:14Speaker 6: the scale. Would you be Ethan Embry waiting that line?
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I would. I was watching and I'm just like, God,
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: he's so spazzy in Empire Records, but he's so adorable.
- 1:35:26Speaker 4: Shoplifter!
- 1:35:28Speaker 6: Again, he's part of the adorable, endearing qualities of that movie.
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: What did you think of Empire Records having not seen
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: this movie ever?
- 1:35:38Speaker 6: Did you get a sugar high?
- 1:35:40Speaker 7: I thought it was kind of goofy.
- 1:35:42Speaker 6: Why does he sound like that?
- 1:35:44Speaker 7: It was very 90s.
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. That's what I told you going into it, though.
- 1:35:48Speaker 7: The 90s really wasn't a part of my growing up.
- 1:35:53Speaker 6: It was a very specific period for me, because it's
- 1:35:56Speaker 6: not the same as my attachment to stuff in the 80s.
- 1:35:59Speaker 7: No, not at all.
- 1:36:00Speaker 6: But I feel like I still, it was just a
- 1:36:02Speaker 6: different gear. I was going into a different place, so
- 1:36:06Speaker 6: I attached to different 90s things.
- 1:36:08Speaker 7: I just didn't attach to anything 90s.
- 1:36:10Speaker 8: You tuned out already.
- 1:36:12Speaker 7: I had tuned out once the 90s hit. I was
- 1:36:15Speaker 7: in my own world at that point, so.
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: Well, didn't The Crow come out in the 90s?
- 1:36:19Speaker 7: Yeah, but that doesn't... That didn't have anything to do
- 1:36:22Speaker 7: with Empire Records.
- 1:36:25Speaker 6: There wasn't a huge.
- 1:36:26Speaker 7: I mean, there wasn't a huge crow falling. There weren't
- 1:36:28Speaker 7: a bunch of goofy-ass kids that went to The Crow.
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: You know?
- 1:36:32Speaker 6: There were a lot of weird dorks walking around the
- 1:36:34Speaker 6: mall dressed like the crow. Yeah, you know, I mean.
- 1:36:37Speaker 6: Not a lot. Not a lot. But for that, like,
- 1:36:40Speaker 6: for where I was, like, the fact that I still
- 1:36:43Speaker 6: saw one or two, like, it obviously had an impact.
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: I think I was the crow one year for Halloween.
- 1:36:48Speaker 12: So was I.
- 1:36:51Speaker 6: There's a reason I don't bother dressing up now. I
- 1:36:53Speaker 6: did it all. I've gotten it out of my system.
- 1:36:55Speaker 7: I just didn't dress up. I dressed up one time
- 1:36:58Speaker 7: for Halloween.
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: This was the one time I dressed up, like, as
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: a teenager. Mm-hmm. Aside from being a kid dressing up,
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: me and my friend.
- 1:37:04Speaker 6: I was technically an adult. I went to work dressed
- 1:37:07Speaker 6: like the crow, so deal with that, me.
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: Are there pictures of this?
- 1:37:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:37:13Speaker 6: I got at least one decent one that I held
- 1:37:15Speaker 6: on to. The rest of them.
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: I think I might have actually seen this picture.
- 1:37:18Speaker 6: Yeah, there's one of me standing on the porch when
- 1:37:20Speaker 6: it was dark, and it actually looks cool and crow-like,
- 1:37:22Speaker 6: and it was time for trick-or-treating, so I was hanging out.
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: Did you still have the hair, or was it a wig?
- 1:37:27Speaker 6: That one was a wig. Just because it wouldn't have
- 1:37:30Speaker 6: looked right anyway, because mine was never that dark. So
- 1:37:33Speaker 6: it was a rig, but I like rigged it up
- 1:37:36Speaker 6: so that it kind of looked more appropriate because even
- 1:37:39Speaker 6: the way it came looked stupid. So I kind of
- 1:37:41Speaker 6: like messed with it and wore it differently. And like it,
- 1:37:44Speaker 6: it to me looked horrible.
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: I guess because I was a teenager in the 90s,
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: so this movie, the songs, I was just like, when
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: they started playing the Gin Blossoms, I'm like, hell yeah,
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: I love the Gin Blossoms. This is a great fucking song.
- 1:37:56Speaker 6: It does have a great 90s, if you like 90s music,
- 1:38:00Speaker 6: it has a great soundtrack. It's the most 90s soundtrack
- 1:38:03Speaker 6: you're going to find just about. I think we played
- 1:38:05Speaker 6: some on our 90s soundtrack episode.
- 1:38:07Speaker 8: I think I pulled one out.
- 1:38:08Speaker 6: I didn't identify with hardly any of it. Specifically that.
- 1:38:11Speaker 6: But it's like, again, you don't realize what a sound...
- 1:38:15Speaker 6: sound in quotation that the 90s had until you get
- 1:38:18Speaker 6: a little distance like at the time it was just
- 1:38:20Speaker 6: whatever it's the music that was on the radio but
- 1:38:23Speaker 6: now I listen back and I'm like oh god that
- 1:38:25Speaker 6: sounds 90s like it's such a specific time and.
- 1:38:28Speaker 7: Place yeah I think at that point there would have
- 1:38:30Speaker 7: been the kids that just annoyed the crap out of
- 1:38:32Speaker 7: me and i generally didn't okay they worked at the
- 1:38:34Speaker 7: record store i didn't go to the record store i
- 1:38:37Speaker 7: mean i went to era ecstasy But I didn't go
- 1:38:39Speaker 7: to the mall, and the people that were kind of
- 1:38:42Speaker 7: in this film wouldn't be the people working at Ear Ecstasy.
- 1:38:46Speaker 6: But it's funny, because within the context of the movie,
- 1:38:48Speaker 6: they probably think they're the cool record store kids. So
- 1:38:50Speaker 6: they probably think that they work at Ear Ecstasy, but
- 1:38:54Speaker 6: looking at them now, they seem kind of like mall.
- 1:38:57Speaker 6: Except for shaving her head girl. She was pretty hardcore.
- 1:39:00Speaker 6: But the rest of them were pretty HMV.
- 1:39:02Speaker 7: I don't know. There was a girl I knew that
- 1:39:03Speaker 7: worked at HMV that shaved her head, so.
- 1:39:06Speaker 6: But she seemed like she was very... There's a couple
- 1:39:08Speaker 6: of them that seem very... I think I'm anti-establishment. Yeah.
- 1:39:12Speaker 6: Even though they're probably not really. They're just like 19.
- 1:39:17Speaker 6: Everybody thinks they're anti-establishment. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: I like it. It was a good movie.
- 1:39:23Speaker 6: Which one are we on now?
- 1:39:24Speaker 11: Empire Records?
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: I'm still talking about Empire Records.
- 1:39:27Speaker 6: It's an entertaining movie.
- 1:39:29Speaker 7: It's an entertaining movie. I didn't think it was bad.
- 1:39:31Speaker 7: I mean, it was definitely... I mean, it's definitely dated.
- 1:39:34Speaker 7: It's definitely... Made for its time.
- 1:39:36Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:39:38Speaker 6: I do wonder how kids now would respond to it,
- 1:39:40Speaker 6: if it would still work the same way.
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:39:43Speaker 6: If you were a teenager seeing.
- 1:39:44Speaker 3: It like that.
- 1:39:44Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:39:45Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: You know?
- 1:39:47Speaker 6: Teenagers out there?
- 1:39:49Speaker 7: I mean, I think a lot of it would kind
- 1:39:52Speaker 7: of go the same, because you still have that dynamic of,
- 1:39:55Speaker 7: you know, you have the one girl that's the slut,
- 1:39:57Speaker 7: and you have the other girl that's.
- 1:39:59Speaker 6: A little too goody-goody, and.
- 1:40:01Speaker 7: Yeah, she wants to be bad, but she's not. And
- 1:40:04Speaker 7: then you've got the one that's just completely... I don't
- 1:40:06Speaker 7: give a fuck about anybody. And the same thing with
- 1:40:11Speaker 7: the guys. So I think that dynamic kind of works
- 1:40:15Speaker 7: no matter what generation it is.
- 1:40:18Speaker 6: I do wonder, yeah, if kids would respond to it
- 1:40:22Speaker 6: the same. So, yeah, let us know.
- 1:40:24Speaker 7: Probably a lot of them would be like, what's a CD?
- 1:40:27Speaker 6: That might be true.
- 1:40:28Speaker 7: Or a tape. Or listening booths.
- 1:40:32Speaker 6: You can get those now and put them in your house.
- 1:40:34Speaker 7: What listening booth?
- 1:40:35Speaker 6: I see people that have rescued the old ones from here.
- 1:40:38Speaker 6: I see them. There's like a couple of stores in
- 1:40:41Speaker 6: town that took them and like repurpose them into their business.
- 1:40:44Speaker 7: I remember the kiosks, um, Did they have listening.
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: Booths at RSC? I thought they did. I don't remember.
- 1:40:50Speaker 6: They just had like, it was just a station. Yeah,
- 1:40:51Speaker 6: it was a station. It wasn't like an enclosed booth,
- 1:40:54Speaker 6: but it was like just a place with headphones and
- 1:40:56Speaker 6: like you could punch a button for like six or
- 1:40:58Speaker 6: eight different.
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: Maybe I'm thinking of somewhere else. Maybe I just saw
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: it in a movie. It's like in my head I
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: remember listening booths, but.
- 1:41:05Speaker 6: It's okay.
- 1:41:06Speaker 7: A lot of things happen in my head that don't
- 1:41:08Speaker 7: happen in real life.
- 1:41:09Speaker 6: I know.
- 1:41:10Speaker 7: Conversations with people.
- 1:41:11Speaker 2: Are you in the void?
- 1:41:13Speaker 6: You might be.
- 1:41:14Speaker 7: I usually am.
- 1:41:17Speaker 6: Alright, I think we're heading towards the void, so we
- 1:41:20Speaker 6: should wrap it. Any passing parting thoughts?
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: I want to wear that guy's coat.
- 1:41:27Speaker 7: Parting shots.
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: But not from this movie, because it wasn't a cool coat.
- 1:41:31Speaker 7: That's just his skin.
- 1:41:33Speaker 6: He just looks like that all the time.
- 1:41:35Speaker 7: His bloody lab coat.
- 1:41:38Speaker 6: That's not the one I want!
- 1:41:40Speaker 7: That's not what you get.
- 1:41:42Speaker 6: Damn it, Uncle Frank. All right. With that, I say
- 1:41:49Speaker 6: we round things out.
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: Wrap this shit up, put it in the void, and
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: let's go.
- 1:41:53Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:41:54Speaker 6: Otherwise, anyone does it. We will return next time, same
- 1:41:57Speaker 6: geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 1:42:00Speaker 7: Bye.
- 1:42:01Speaker 4: Bye. Bye. Bye.
- 1:42:14Speaker 14: You should never come this way To test the hands
- 1:42:19Speaker 14: of fate You don't belong here Peel back the skin,
- 1:42:30Speaker 14: close your eyes, hell is born To the abyss, but
- 1:42:37Speaker 14: be warned You fear what you've become God, what have
- 1:42:44Speaker 14: you done?
- 1:42:46Speaker 13: You don't belong here But it's all in the way
- 1:42:55Speaker 13: You touch and you obey Denial.
- 1:43:05Speaker 14: But it's all in the way. You touch and you'll
- 1:43:10Speaker 14: be denied.
- 1:43:11Speaker 9: Save for.
- 1:43:30Speaker 6: The time.
- 1:43:34Speaker 9: I'll take your heart That is alive And you know
- 1:43:41Speaker 9: You were once led to believe.
- 1:43:44Speaker 4: You were young and so.
- 1:43:46Speaker 9: Naive And now no longer But it's all in the
- 1:43:57Speaker 9: way It's in your bed today Love to free Have
- 1:44:05Speaker 9: to die with nothing you can hold Have to break
- 1:44:11Speaker 9: in the cold And the boy that you made The
- 1:44:22Speaker 9: moment you let love go.
- 1:44:48Speaker 4: Back your days You let them all escape.
- 1:45:25Speaker 9: I have to face this alone I have to die
- 1:45:35Speaker 9: with nothing you can hold I have to break in
- 1:45:40Speaker 9: the cold And the boy that you made The moment
- 1:45:51Speaker 9: you let love go.
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: It wasn't until, like, way later in life, and I'm like,
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: it's not Napoleon ice cream, yeah, fuck that.
- 1:46:34Speaker 6: I might be saying it.
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: Neapolitan? Is that what it says on the... Neapolitan.
- 1:46:43Speaker 6: But I question it every time.
