- 0:03Speaker 1: This is a Bramble Jam podcast. This week on your
- 0:13Speaker 1: Gabble Gabble.
- 0:14Speaker 2: If your daughter steals eyeliner out of her friend's mom's bathroom,
- 0:18Speaker 2: does she have.
- 0:19Speaker 1: To pay for your daughter's medical bills? Judgmentlan's gonna figure
- 0:23Speaker 1: it out? And can you use your parents' house as
- 0:27Speaker 1: a storage unit? Judge Ramesh, Ways and real people, Thank justice.
- 0:32Speaker 1: This is all rights, all rights. Hello everybody.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Oh, you know what Casual Friday was so fun last week.
- 0:43Speaker 1: We thought we'd do it twice. Same pretty neat. Yeah,
- 0:49Speaker 1: why right? Were a good thing? Hey, Jery, how is
- 0:52Speaker 1: your Christmas good? Wow, that's awesome.
- 0:56Speaker 2: We're up in up the chambers to one audience member
- 1:00Speaker 2: at a time. There's a lottery. Yeah, you gotta go
- 1:02Speaker 2: to the website, click the link. Its whole thing.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Just so I found a new judge. Yeah, you did.
- 1:08Speaker 1: From across the pond, From across the pond.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Whenever there's anyone not from America, you say across the pond, yes,
- 1:13Speaker 2: but we say across the pond just for the United Kingdom.
- 1:16Speaker 2: He's definitely a British Okay, all right, good good, good,
- 1:19Speaker 2: good good. Just making sure on the same page.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Judge Ramesh is his name, they call him Rom, they
- 1:25Speaker 1: call him they call.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Him Judge Rrom or just ROMs Okay, casual Friday, casual court.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Tell me about it now.
- 1:32Speaker 1: This court. I don't know if it is specific to
- 1:35Speaker 1: this case or if this is how Rom handles it there.
- 1:39Speaker 1: But this is more like if you can't if you
- 1:42Speaker 1: are in an argument with somebody and you need somebody
- 1:46Speaker 1: to like intervene or to uh, what's it called mediate? Mediate? Yes,
- 1:51Speaker 1: he's kind of a mediator. This is what I would
- 1:53Speaker 1: love to do.
- 1:54Speaker 2: So there's enough to just hear two complaints and be like,
- 1:57Speaker 2: my ruling is final without any like.
- 1:59Speaker 1: There's no model, there's no money here. It's just a complaint.
- 2:02Speaker 1: It's just like a who's right, who's wrong? I got you.
- 2:04Speaker 1: So Leslie is suing her nine children because they use
- 2:08Speaker 1: her house as a storage boy all nine of them. Huh, Justine,
- 2:12Speaker 1: She's the middle child, so she's there on behalf of
- 2:14Speaker 1: all the kids.
- 2:15Speaker 2: The middle child is representing the whole. The oldest would
- 2:18Speaker 2: never stand for this. The oldest would be like, not
- 2:20Speaker 2: in your life now, Okay. So Leslie explains that over
- 2:23Speaker 2: the course of twenty or thirty years, her kids and
- 2:26Speaker 2: her kids kids have brought a lot of stuff to
- 2:30Speaker 2: her house. The kids kids such as pianos, violins, lots
- 2:36Speaker 2: of instruments for some reason.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Yeah, but tennis racket It's all just kind of there, okay,
- 2:42Speaker 1: because they all live in different parts of the world now,
- 2:45Speaker 1: and so when they were like, hey, well we'll get
- 2:48Speaker 1: this moved back or whatever, they're using their parents' house
- 2:51Speaker 1: as a place to store things. Rom explains for the
- 2:54Speaker 1: purpose of the court that we'll just call your kids kids,
- 2:57Speaker 1: your grandchildren, got them love. I just want to say
- 3:01Speaker 1: this is the like. Rom is the funniest like. I
- 3:04Speaker 1: think he might be just a comedian like because he's
- 3:07Speaker 1: really funny. Tell me you're not doing money. I think
- 3:09Speaker 1: this is more of a like. I so he can
- 3:11Speaker 1: riff situation. And he has a bailiff who is uh,
- 3:14Speaker 1: I'm not sure, but I'm fairly confident he is the
- 3:20Speaker 1: guy in Wonka that brings Wonka to the house, the guy,
- 3:24Speaker 1: the big big guy's kind of ye that guy. Pretty
- 3:28Speaker 1: sure it's him. Wow. And then there's another woman who's
- 3:31Speaker 1: there I think, like taking notes, but also will bring
- 3:33Speaker 1: things into the courts. Yeah, so ra they they just
- 3:40Speaker 1: bring stuff because they live all over the place, and
- 3:42Speaker 1: so it's like, hey, I'll pick this up when I
- 3:44Speaker 1: when I come back home, but they never pick stuff
- 3:46Speaker 1: back up. Rom is like, I don't understand the problem.
- 3:49Speaker 1: You've got in a free grand piano out of this
- 3:51Speaker 1: sounds like a pretty great deal. So like, what is
- 3:55Speaker 1: your complaint? And she says, my house feels smaller, and
- 4:00Speaker 1: I just want them to take I want them to
- 4:03Speaker 1: take their stuff back. They keep saying they're gonna take
- 4:06Speaker 1: their stuff back. They don't take their stuff back. Justine says, my, uh,
- 4:12Speaker 1: all of the kids have left some stuff at my
- 4:15Speaker 1: parents' house. That is true, but it's not our fault
- 4:17Speaker 1: that she had nine kids. Like she had nine kids.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Obviously a few things from nine different sources adds up.
- 4:24Speaker 1: We're not saying that's not true. But she's also like
- 4:28Speaker 1: storing stuff for other people, like her hairdresser. Her hairdresser
- 4:31Speaker 1: just has stuff at her house. And M's like, why
- 4:34Speaker 1: do you have the hairdresser stuff at your house and
- 4:38Speaker 1: she's like, he's my hairdresser. And Justine says, yeah, and
- 4:43Speaker 1: your hair still looks bad and Rom says, whoa, whoa, whoa,
- 4:47Speaker 1: that's your mom. Her hair does look bad, but you're
- 4:50Speaker 1: not allowed to say that it's your mom. So he's like,
- 4:55Speaker 1: we get like, you know, what's what's kind of the problem,
- 4:59Speaker 1: like what what is what is there on top of
- 5:02Speaker 1: the piano stuff? And so the woman who's also in
- 5:04Speaker 1: the in the courtroom brings a few things. One is
- 5:08Speaker 1: a blanket who's a koran? And Rom is like, why
- 5:13Speaker 1: did you bring the koran here? I'm like, I'm not Muslim,
- 5:16Speaker 1: so I don't know if you're trying to sway me,
- 5:18Speaker 1: but I'm not. And she's like she explains that the
- 5:23Speaker 1: koran came came from one of her sons, and he's like,
- 5:29Speaker 1: is he Muzzlim? And he's like no, she he got
- 5:32Speaker 1: it from a party. And he's like what kind of party.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Rom asked Justine like, can like what if your mom
- 5:43Speaker 1: just threw everything out? And Justine says she can throw
- 5:46Speaker 1: everything out except for what's mine and Rom says, I'm
- 5:50Speaker 1: sure that's what all the kids say, yes, uh, And
- 5:54Speaker 1: Justine explains, well, we've all like tried to take stuff
- 5:58Speaker 1: over the years, but whenever we try to do it mom,
- 6:02Speaker 1: it's not a good time for mom because Mom has
- 6:04Speaker 1: a place in Spain, and so she spends a lot
- 6:07Speaker 1: of time in Spain, and so she's like, what do
- 6:09Speaker 1: we do? And Ramesh is ready to rule. Yeah, she
- 6:13Speaker 1: she can't.
- 6:14Speaker 2: It doesn't seem like she's giving them a lot of
- 6:16Speaker 2: opportunity to actually help. I think she's just complaining for
- 6:20Speaker 2: the attention. So it's a note for me.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Ramesh says, uh that you what's the mom's name, Leslie, Leslie,
- 6:30Speaker 1: you have to give them X amount of time and
- 6:35Speaker 1: after x amount of time, you can throw everything out,
- 6:37Speaker 1: give your kids time to come and gettunity. I'm on board,
- 6:41Speaker 1: but you can you can throw everything. You can throw
- 6:43Speaker 1: everything out, And Justine says, I'm fine with that. Fine
- 6:46Speaker 1: with that. Everybody wins. Ramesh to the rescue once again Injustice.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Very dumb, but I absolutely adore. I got to check
- 6:55Speaker 1: it out. I don't know how many full episodes are
- 6:58Speaker 1: on on on YouTube.
- 7:00Speaker 2: You did another British show that was like very just
- 7:03Speaker 2: they're trying to make they do things. They do a
- 7:05Speaker 2: different different over there across the pous Yeah, but big
- 7:08Speaker 2: fan of this, sho fan. Yeah, let's go over to
- 7:12Speaker 2: Judge Million, but not in the People's Court. Apparently last
- 7:16Speaker 2: year Judge Million started a new show called Justice for
- 7:20Speaker 2: the People with Judge Million.
- 7:21Speaker 1: I didn't know it. That sounds very similar to People's Court.
- 7:23Speaker 2: It sounds very similar to People's Court, almost like she's like,
- 7:27Speaker 2: still wants to do this, So where's People's Court. I
- 7:29Speaker 2: don't know if it is it on anymore.
- 7:30Speaker 1: I don't know. It's great.
- 7:30Speaker 2: We look at that platerer, it's a new show. She
- 7:33Speaker 2: gets to do her full intro about her I didn't
- 7:35Speaker 2: know she worked for Janet Reno. I found out some things,
- 7:38Speaker 2: and then she's like, our show will be a mixture
- 7:41Speaker 2: of education and entertainment, which is one of the dumbest
- 7:43Speaker 2: lines to ever say.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Uh.
- 7:46Speaker 1: But then we get to the case. Are you ready?
- 7:47Speaker 1: I'm ready?
- 7:48Speaker 2: Diana Diana cou is suing Tina Appleworth for six hundred
- 7:54Speaker 2: and forty nine dollars and fifty.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Cents canceled canceled in twenty twenty three.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Very Diana cou issuing Tina Appleworth for six hundred and
- 8:01Speaker 2: forty nine dollars and fifty cents. Okay, this is really
- 8:05Speaker 2: more about the daughters. They both have their daughters with them.
- 8:07Speaker 2: My daughter's names are Lucy and Veronica. So Diana starts off,
- 8:11Speaker 2: it's like our daughters are nine years old. They've been
- 8:13Speaker 2: friends since the first grade. There was a sleepover at
- 8:16Speaker 2: the Appleworth's house. My kid got an eye infection from
- 8:20Speaker 2: Tina's eyeliner. And I know that because the next day
- 8:26Speaker 2: at school, the nurse called me that was a sleepover
- 8:29Speaker 2: on a school night.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Which did you do that? Growing up?
- 8:32Speaker 2: Lord, No, I would have never been allowed to. Like
- 8:35Speaker 2: the idea of it is crazy, but apparently people do it.
- 8:38Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 8:39Speaker 2: So the nurse called me, Diana says, and said that
- 8:42Speaker 2: I had to come pick up my daughter because she
- 8:43Speaker 2: had an infected eye. And I went to pick her
- 8:46Speaker 2: up and it was horrible, and I was like, what
- 8:47Speaker 2: is going on? We had to go to the doctor.
- 8:50Speaker 2: There's a there's a whole procedure they had to do
- 8:52Speaker 2: to flush it out, take eye drops and six undred
- 8:55Speaker 2: and forty nine dollars and fifty cents is the bill
- 8:58Speaker 2: I called Tina to ask what happened? Is like, I
- 9:00Speaker 2: don't know, but that is my eyeliner. So why did
- 9:03Speaker 2: you let my daughter get into your eyeliner? Why'd you
- 9:04Speaker 2: let her do it? This is on you, so.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Man, listen, this stuff happens.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Well even then, I think the case is but like, still,
- 9:18Speaker 2: you're responsible for a kid in your house.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Of course, of course, But anybody who's been to a
- 9:23Speaker 1: sleepover knows that this stuff happens. So if it's nine
- 9:26Speaker 1: year old girls, they're gonna start playing dress up, maybe
- 9:29Speaker 1: do some makeup stuff.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Sorry, go ahead. You would think, oh okay. Uh, Million's like, Lucy,
- 9:37Speaker 2: can I talk? Can I talk to Lucy for a second, Yes, Lucy.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Lucy's like, well, uh my mom really didn't know what
- 9:42Speaker 2: was happening, so I know everything, so I'll tell you
- 9:44Speaker 2: she's I love.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Yes, Lucy's great. I love Lucy. Uh. We woke up
- 9:50Speaker 1: really early the morning.
- 9:51Speaker 2: We had to go to school after the sleepover because
- 9:53Speaker 2: we had picture day and we're really excited about picture day.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Y'all did a sleepover on a school night the night
- 9:59Speaker 1: before picture day.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Yeh, bolt sounds fake. This is crazy. So Miss Appleworth
- 10:05Speaker 2: Tina woke us up. Uh No, we were eating breakfast
- 10:09Speaker 2: and she tells us to go brush our teeth. Well,
- 10:11Speaker 2: Veronica had left before me, and she was in the
- 10:12Speaker 2: bathroom and had the door locked, so Miss Appleworth said
- 10:15Speaker 2: to go use my bathroom right, So before she let
- 10:19Speaker 2: me in her bathroom, I watched her as she got
- 10:23Speaker 2: on the makeup and put it all in a drawer.
- 10:25Speaker 2: My mom, Lucy's talking, doesn't let me have makeup on.
- 10:29Speaker 2: I'm still really young. She doesn't let me have makeup on.
- 10:32Speaker 2: But the door was still open. I saw her put
- 10:34Speaker 2: the makeup in the drawer, so I went into her bathroom.
- 10:36Speaker 2: I brushed my teeth, and then before anyone could see,
- 10:40Speaker 2: I opened the drawer and I took the eyeliner out
- 10:43Speaker 2: and I put it in my pocket. Course right, so
- 10:46Speaker 2: h Million's like, sweetheart, why'd you do that? And she's like, well,
- 10:50Speaker 2: this is crazy. This is Million never recovers from this
- 10:53Speaker 2: point forward. The school was offering a prize for best picture,
- 10:59Speaker 2: not best film. This this public elementary school was offering
- 11:05Speaker 2: a prize to whichever students looked the best in their picture.
- 11:10Speaker 2: An actual beauty contest in elementary school. True story.
- 11:14Speaker 1: What's the prize. It's a trophy. We'll get there. It's
- 11:17Speaker 1: a trumphy.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Yeah, mil Jan all of a sudden looks like it's
- 11:22Speaker 2: the end of civilization. She is, she's she's like, we
- 11:25Speaker 2: gotta talk about that. We'll talk about it later. So
- 11:27Speaker 2: she's like, so, Lucy, you stole the eye line, you
- 11:29Speaker 2: stole the eyeliner, and Lucy's like, basically, yeah, we'll put
- 11:32Speaker 2: on an eyeliner. And she's like picture. She's like, is
- 11:35Speaker 2: that a good thing or a bad thing to steal eyeliner?
- 11:37Speaker 2: She's like it's a bad thing. She's like, well, when
- 11:39Speaker 2: did Veronica, your friend, find out you stole it? She's like, well,
- 11:42Speaker 2: after recess we went to the bathroom and Veronica. I
- 11:45Speaker 2: told Veronica I have the eyeliner, and we could if
- 11:48Speaker 2: we use the eyeliner, maybe we'll win best prize at
- 11:51Speaker 2: the at the picture best picture, the best picture of
- 11:54Speaker 2: the fourth grade Academy. That's right, and and uh Veronica
- 12:00Speaker 2: school wider grade was I don't know.
- 12:01Speaker 1: We didn't get into the details. It's pretty gnarly regardless.
- 12:04Speaker 2: So then Million turns to Veronica, not miss Appleworth, and
- 12:07Speaker 2: goes Veronica, what was the reaction when you showed you
- 12:09Speaker 2: show she showed you the eyeliner. Lucy's like, uh, She's like,
- 12:13Speaker 2: I said, why why do you have that? I was surprised.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Lucy isn't allowed to have makeup at all, but I
- 12:20Speaker 2: still put it on because of the prize.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Yes, like the best picture at best.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Have you heard about best picture in the fourth grade
- 12:28Speaker 2: or third grade, whatever it is nine year olds. Million's like,
- 12:31Speaker 2: I can't believe this. I can't what was the prize.
- 12:33Speaker 2: They're like, it's like a trophy. And She's like, I
- 12:36Speaker 2: just can't believe that a school, Like you need to
- 12:38Speaker 2: go to your school.
- 12:38Speaker 1: You need to talk to him right now. This is
- 12:40Speaker 1: not okay.
- 12:41Speaker 2: She's like, Lucy, don't you think your mom would have
- 12:43Speaker 2: noticed that you had eyeliner on in the picture. And
- 12:45Speaker 2: Lucy's like, I didn't think that far. That's the risk
- 12:47Speaker 2: you take it, Like, I still don't think you thought
- 12:50Speaker 2: about it. And I'm like, no, you're nine, Like, of
- 12:53Speaker 2: course you take for best picture if you literally are
- 12:56Speaker 2: only thinking about best picture. She's like, yeah, I was
- 12:58Speaker 2: gonna wash off the eyeliner if we took the picture,
- 13:00Speaker 2: but my skin got weird. I don't wear makeup. It
- 13:02Speaker 2: started hurting and itching, and Veronica she occasionally her mama
- 13:06Speaker 2: let her play makeup and dress up. She she didn't
- 13:08Speaker 2: get like her skin irritated. I did, and so that's
- 13:12Speaker 2: what happened. So Million's like, miss Appleworth, Tina, did you
- 13:16Speaker 2: have any idea she'd taken the Islander tea.
- 13:18Speaker 1: It's like, I had no idea. I didn't know until
- 13:19Speaker 1: Diana called me.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Dinah calls me and was like, you know all this stuff,
- 13:25Speaker 2: and I didn't know what was going on.
- 13:26Speaker 1: And then Million's like, are you guys friends? Like are
- 13:28Speaker 1: you guy?
- 13:29Speaker 2: Are you two friends? The adults Tina and Diana, and
- 13:31Speaker 2: they're it's very awkward. They clearly are not friends, but
- 13:33Speaker 2: their daughters are friends. And we love that our daughters
- 13:36Speaker 2: are friends and we want them to continue to be friends.
- 13:39Speaker 2: And then Tina just throws out she's super strict with
- 13:41Speaker 2: her daughter. She can't do a lot of things that
- 13:43Speaker 2: other kids get to do.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Well.
- 13:47Speaker 2: So then she turns back to Diana and she's like, Misscoop,
- 13:51Speaker 2: what should miss Appleworths have done to stop your daughter
- 13:55Speaker 2: from stealing the eyeliner?
- 13:56Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 13:56Speaker 2: Like, what what do you expect from someone she's to
- 14:00Speaker 2: put the makeup away?
- 14:02Speaker 1: What do you.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Expect from someone watching your kid during a sleepover? Like
- 14:05Speaker 2: how much attention do you expect to pay? Do you
- 14:07Speaker 2: expect them to watch your kids constantly? Like I know
- 14:11Speaker 2: I've had kids, they've been sleepovers. You got to keep
- 14:13Speaker 2: an eye on other kids because you're they are your responsibility.
- 14:17Speaker 2: That time, I understand that what is the expectation for
- 14:19Speaker 2: you when you let your kids sleep over at someone
- 14:22Speaker 2: else's house. And Diane's basically like, to supervise my children
- 14:25Speaker 2: more closely and to not have makeup where you can
- 14:28Speaker 2: reach it.
- 14:29Speaker 1: So do you want do you want those other girl's
- 14:32Speaker 1: mom to go into the bathroom with your.
- 14:33Speaker 2: He goes into this, Yes, He's like, you wanted to
- 14:35Speaker 2: go in and stare at her. Why she's going to
- 14:37Speaker 2: the bathroom? Is that what you want her to do? Basically,
- 14:39Speaker 2: Diane's like, I just wanted to make it to where
- 14:42Speaker 2: that's not available.
- 14:43Speaker 1: So million's ready to rule. Listen, it's tough. It's tough,
- 14:47Speaker 1: you know. This is why, this is why sleepovers are tricky.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Sleepovers are tricky, and everybody's got to figure that out
- 14:52Speaker 1: for themselves and what they think is best for their child.
- 14:55Speaker 1: I think that at the end of the day, that
- 14:59Speaker 1: n near old daughter went into a drawer, took makeup,
- 15:04Speaker 1: stole it, put it on herself. I think she's got
- 15:08Speaker 1: to learn some responsibility here. She done goofeds and that's tough.
- 15:13Speaker 1: I hate that for her. But now she knows. Now
- 15:15Speaker 1: she knows that makeup's not to be played with especially
- 15:19Speaker 1: when you've never done it before, especially when she's got
- 15:23Speaker 1: to learn this lesson. It's a tough lesson. I hope
- 15:25Speaker 1: she won best Picture. We don't get that info, but
- 15:28Speaker 1: uh yeah, I'm going to give them no money.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Unfortunately, million is great. She's like, Lucy, you did a
- 15:33Speaker 2: bad thing. You're not a bad person. You're not a
- 15:35Speaker 2: bad person. Did a bad thing. You've got to learn
- 15:38Speaker 2: from those mistakes. She's like miss coup did like, what
- 15:41Speaker 2: did I can't find anything that Tina did wrong.
- 15:44Speaker 1: I can't see it.
- 15:44Speaker 2: I don't know what miss apple Orths possibly did wrong.
- 15:47Speaker 2: You can't tell me what she did wrong. I'm sorry
- 15:49Speaker 2: that your daughter got an infection. I think she's learned
- 15:51Speaker 2: her lesson. It should be at your cost. It should
- 15:54Speaker 2: not be at her cost. She does not award them
- 15:57Speaker 2: anymore if they.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Listen, If you go into my nine year old kids
- 16:02Speaker 1: into the bathroom with them, it won't end up good
- 16:05Speaker 1: for you. That's right. Don't go into the bathroom like, yes,
- 16:08Speaker 1: that that's the like she did it in the bathroom.
