The Gann Fire, California’s sixth-largest wildfire of the year, is now 84% contained and evacuation orders are lifted — but cleanup crews, heavy machinery, and emergency teams will keep working for weeks. The blaze scorched over 10,000 acres, destroyed 48 structures, and tragically claimed one life. Cal Fire arrested Herbert Wayne Smith, who allegedly operated equipment that sparked the fire — he also had a prior fire-related conviction in 2019.
