- 0:00Speaker 1: This is Kiss Breakfast.
- 0:02Speaker 2: What have you got?
- 0:03Speaker 1: So the Jonas Brothers are always on the road touring.
- 0:06Speaker 1: They're currently on tour, in fact. They were even in
- 0:08Speaker 1: Australia recently for the NFL performance.
- 0:11Speaker 3: Yep.
- 0:11Speaker 1: And every time they travel around, it turns out that
- 0:14Speaker 1: Nick Jonas, the youngest brother, the one that's with Priyanka Chopra,
- 0:18Speaker 1: always does one particular hobby, and it's just kind of
- 0:21Speaker 1: to keep him sane, so he's got something to do
- 0:23Speaker 1: every time he's in different parts of the world. So
- 0:26Speaker 1: he revealed what it was on a new episode of
- 0:28Speaker 1: his iHeart podcast, Hey Jonas. Take a listen.
- 0:30Speaker 4: I'm getting into lots of things on this tour. I'm
- 0:34Speaker 4: sending my bowling balls out. I have two bowling balls
- 0:36Speaker 4: and shoes. I'm having my bowling ball shipped. Nick looked
- 0:38Speaker 4: at me and said, I just shipped my bowling balls
- 0:40Speaker 4: to your house. Yesterday I was like sick. Because we're
- 0:44Speaker 4: in some of these cities and as the weather's changing
- 0:45Speaker 4: while we're on tour, golf is not really an option.
- 0:47Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 0:48Speaker 4: A nice little group activity is probably a good idea.
- 0:50Speaker 4: If I'm going to be stuck inside because the weather's
- 0:52Speaker 4: not great, I'm going to go bowling.
- 0:54Speaker 2: He's a bowler.
- 0:55Speaker 1: So not only is he a bowler, but he takes
- 0:57Speaker 1: his own bowling ball.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Nerd alert.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Nerd alert.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Unnecessarily heavy to check in as well.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Can you imagine how heavy they are? My dad was
- 1:04Speaker 1: a bowler. My dad has a bowling ball somewhere at
- 1:06Speaker 1: his house.
- 1:07Speaker 2: He's a bowler?
- 1:08Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Well, now he does lawn bowls.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Maybe that's why. But, yeah, just normal bowling in those shoes,
- 1:14Speaker 1: it's so nerdy.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Well, what would be worse? Like an ick for a
- 1:18Speaker 2: guy's hobby? That kind of bowling or lawn bowling?
- 1:21Speaker 1: I mean, at the age of what would Nick be
- 1:23Speaker 1: in his 30s?
- 1:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Bowling. I hope not lawn bowling. Then again, actually, I've
- 1:26Speaker 1: watched my dad before and there's some young people into
- 1:28Speaker 1: lawn bowls.
- 1:29Speaker 2: I like doing it when you're drinking, although I always.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Oh, you get over it. You do about four of
- 1:33Speaker 1: them and then you just kind of like roll it
- 1:35Speaker 1: down the green.
- 1:35Speaker 3: I would say he's probably a bit of a germophobe
- 1:37Speaker 3: because I remember a girlfriend of mine who's a crazy,
- 1:39Speaker 3: crazy germophobe. She said the amount of fingers that go
- 1:43Speaker 3: into bowling balls.
- 1:44Speaker 5: Gross.
- 1:45Speaker 1: You would be horrified. I mean, it doesn't bother me.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Just squirt some hand sanitizer in there. Who cares?
- 1:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:51Speaker 1: When you think about anything like that, though, it's even
- 1:53Speaker 1: the hand dryers in like Westfields and things.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Mm.
- 1:56Speaker 1: The amount of germs in the Dyson ones, you know
- 1:58Speaker 1: the ones you put your hands in? Yeah. Apparently they
- 1:59Speaker 1: make your hands worse. Yes.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Why is that? You should just dry them because I
- 2:03Speaker 2: think bacteria and hate.
- 2:05Speaker 1: And also water and moisture is where bacteria like, you know, whatever.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Just use hand sanitizer. What about hobbies?
- 2:12Speaker 1: That's why you'd go and do a poo-poo here at work.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Don't wash your hands. I wouldn't do that. Yes, you would.
- 2:17Speaker 2: I would not do a poo and not wash my hands.
- 2:19Speaker 2: That's disgusting.
- 2:20Speaker 1: No, but you're saying not wash your hands, but you're
- 2:22Speaker 1: failing to mention you don't wash your hands, you hand sanitize.
- 2:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:25Speaker 2: I do both. Hey, just talking hobbies, if some men
- 2:30Speaker 2: have hobbies, is it like an ick? Like my ocean
- 2:34Speaker 2: swimming wouldn't be an ick, right? But what about my
- 2:36Speaker 2: mate who used to keep bonsai plants?
- 2:39Speaker 1: I mean, if I walked in and my partner was
- 2:41Speaker 1: trimming a bonsai plant with these tiny little scissors and
- 2:44Speaker 1: a gardening glove, it would be an ick. I feel
- 2:48Speaker 1: like there's normal hobbies for men and they're normally exercise related,
- 2:52Speaker 1: so like golf even. I understand why men like golf.
- 2:55Speaker 1: They get to hang out with the boys, drink some beers.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:57Speaker 1: You know, there's an art to it. Even like just
- 3:00Speaker 1: going to the gym, lifting weights, whatever. Ocean swims, you've
- 3:03Speaker 1: made part of your personality for some reason.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Ryan's hobby is basically smoking meat.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Like he loves smoking meat. I didn't know what you
- 3:10Speaker 1: were going to say. Me either. Did your hand like that?
- 3:13Speaker 2: Is he smoking meat with random men in car parks
- 3:16Speaker 2: at night?
- 3:16Speaker 1: Men in our street.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:19Speaker 1: I know who they are. Yeah, I know who they are. Hey,
- 3:21Speaker 1: Chris Pratt, you'd know him mostly from Guardians of the Galaxy.
- 3:25Speaker 1: He's a huge actor. One of the highest grossing film
- 3:28Speaker 1: stars of all time, in fact. He was talking to
- 3:30Speaker 1: Jimmy Fallon about the fact that he almost had a
- 3:32Speaker 1: different stage name. Because, you know, like Emma Stone, her
- 3:35Speaker 1: real name isn't Emma Stone. I think it's like Emily
- 3:37Speaker 1: Stone or something.
- 3:38Speaker 5: No.
- 3:38Speaker 1: A lot of like even Joaquin Phoenix, his real last
- 3:41Speaker 1: name's Bottom, Joaquin Bottom. So like there's a lot of celebrities,
- 3:44Speaker 1: even Brad Pitt, his real name's William Pitt. There's a
- 3:46Speaker 1: lot of actors and actresses that we know who have
- 3:49Speaker 1: actually changed their name. You know like Lana Del Rey? Yeah.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Her real name is Elizabeth Woolridge Grant.
- 3:55Speaker 5: Awful.
- 3:56Speaker 1: It sounds very royal, though, doesn't it? So, yeah, Chris
- 3:59Speaker 1: Pratt is his name, but he almost had a show name,
- 4:02Speaker 1: and it dates back to when he was working at
- 4:04Speaker 1: a casual seafood restaurant chain in the U.S. called Bubba Gump.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Have you ever heard of it? Oh, yeah.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Forrest Gump.
- 4:09Speaker 1: In L.A. I've been in there in Hawaii. There you go.
- 4:12Speaker 1: So he used to work there, and someone that worked
- 4:15Speaker 1: there with him almost gave him this stage name that
- 4:18Speaker 1: he didn't end up going by. Take a listen.
- 4:20Speaker 5: Discovered at a restaurant in Maui called the Bubba Gump
- 4:22Speaker 5: Shrimp Company.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 4:24Speaker 5: A waiter came in, or a director came in. I
- 4:27Speaker 5: was waiting tables and gave me an audition, and that, like,
- 4:29Speaker 5: changed my life. And I had a name tag that
- 4:32Speaker 5: I'd written Christopher on, and there's only, like, a middle
- 4:36Speaker 5: part where it doesn't rub off, and the Sharpie on
- 4:38Speaker 5: the outside rubbed off, and over time it just said Christo.
- 4:43Speaker 5: And so at Bubba Gump, everyone thought my name was Christo.
- 4:47Speaker 5: And so everyone called me Christo. Hey, Christo, Christo. And
- 4:49Speaker 5: I was like, that's kind of fire. I think I'm
- 4:52Speaker 5: going to go with just Christo. Mono name, like, you know,
- 4:58Speaker 5: Madonna or something.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Yeah, Christo.
- 5:01Speaker 5: I was almost, you were Oma Christo. I really considered it.
- 5:04Speaker 2: I knew a Christo.
- 5:06Speaker 1: So not even Christo Pratt. He was just going to
- 5:07Speaker 1: go Christo.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Christo, yeah.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Is that why you have your name Mikey?
- 5:12Speaker 2: That's my Christian name.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Why didn't you just go Mike? Yeah, why not Mike?
- 5:16Speaker 2: Because the E for Etheridge, I don't know, it stands
- 5:19Speaker 2: out a bit more.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Yeah, but Amy doesn't go by Amy G.
- 5:21Speaker 4: Oh, that'd be good.
- 5:22Speaker 1: That's very radio. That sounds cool. You know why? It's
- 5:25Speaker 1: kind of like Ali G.
- 5:26Speaker 2: I started in radio about 20 years ago, and everyone
- 5:29Speaker 2: had to have... Like a nickname then. The guy that
- 5:33Speaker 2: hired me to begin with wanted to call me Wireless Mike.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Oh, they all had these zanies. But that's even why, like,
- 5:40Speaker 1: shout out to Ugly Phil over at 2GB, who no
- 5:43Speaker 1: longer goes by that. He's now just Overnights with Phil O'Neill.
- 5:45Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:46Speaker 2: I actually spoke to him for my podcast, which is
- 5:49Speaker 2: coming up my next season, and he told me the
- 5:52Speaker 2: origin story of that. Because you'd be offended being called
- 5:54Speaker 2: Ugly Phil, don't you think?
- 5:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it's such an old school nickname. Like, he's ugly,
- 5:58Speaker 1: call him Ugly Phil. Is that how it happens?
- 6:01Speaker 2: You can find out the origin story when you listen
- 6:03Speaker 2: to the pod, but you're right.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Just tell us now.
- 6:05Speaker 2: No, you've got to wait for the second season coming
- 6:08Speaker 2: out on the free iHeart app. Ugly Amy, can you imagine?
- 6:13Speaker 2: You're not that. You couldn't give a girl that name.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Back in the day, though, they would have been like,
- 6:17Speaker 1: she's got big tits, she's Big Tit Amy. That's literally
- 6:21Speaker 1: how it was. Anyway, also, just a quick last story.
- 6:26Speaker 1: So Tammy Hembrough, we've spoken about her a lot recently.
- 6:28Speaker 1: We had her in the show last week. In a
- 6:30Speaker 1: new interview, she was talking about how rebellious she was
- 6:32Speaker 1: as a teenager, something I think you'll be able to
- 6:34Speaker 1: relate to, Amy. She revealed that she used to do
- 6:37Speaker 1: this as a teenager basically every single night. Take a listen.
- 6:41Speaker 1: snuck out of the house pretty much every single night
- 6:43Speaker 1: when I was a teenager.
- 6:47Speaker 5: I didn't.
- 6:48Speaker 1: I snuck out like every night.
- 6:49Speaker 5: Really?
- 6:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:50Speaker 3: At one point my parents took the door off my
- 6:52Speaker 3: bedroom so I couldn't like they would know if I
- 6:55Speaker 3: like snuck out because I used to lock my door
- 6:57Speaker 3: and climb out the window.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Where did you go?
- 6:59Speaker 4: Like parties and like gatherings as we used to call them.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Or gathers. Gathers. I used to sneak out a lot.
- 7:08Speaker 1: I snuck out one school holidays.
- 7:11Speaker 3: I snuck out so many nights repetitively one after the
- 7:14Speaker 3: other that I ended up with glandular fever because my
- 7:18Speaker 3: dad would get up to go for work at like
- 7:20Speaker 3: 6 a.m.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Or sometimes earlier.
- 7:22Speaker 3: And I would just have snuck back in at like
- 7:24Speaker 3: five and my dad never let us sleep in.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Like he would walk into my room and get rise
- 7:29Speaker 1: and shine.
- 7:30Speaker 2: And you just got home.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I've just gotten home. I've just hit deep REM and
- 7:34Speaker 1: he's waking me up. So what were you doing when
- 7:36Speaker 1: you snuck out?
- 7:38Speaker 3: Just going to visit my boyfriend, going to parties, just
- 7:41Speaker 3: doing all the stuff that I wasn't allowed to do
- 7:43Speaker 3: because my parents were so strict.
- 7:45Speaker 1: What would you do? Your kids are too young, but
- 7:47Speaker 1: your daughter will hit that age first and daughters are
- 7:50Speaker 1: worse to think they're sneaking out because it's so unsafe, right?
- 7:53Speaker 1: So unsafe. If you walked into her room when she's like,
- 7:56Speaker 1: you know, 15 and she's not in there. She's not
- 7:58Speaker 1: in there. I would freak. Were you just like roam
- 8:01Speaker 1: the streets looking for her?
- 8:03Speaker 2: Find my iPhone.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Yeah, well, kids these days, they've got bloody Life 360.
- 8:09Speaker 5: I'll know where they are.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Put an air tag in her shoes. Well, this is
- 8:13Speaker 1: why I say, oh, shoes? Of course, she's got to
- 8:15Speaker 1: put shoes on under the inner sole. My kids are
- 8:18Speaker 1: going to be tracked everywhere. Yeah, just put a little track.
- 8:22Speaker 2: They don't know it's there?
- 8:23Speaker 1: I'll sew one into her undies if I have to.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I'm not kidding.
