- 1:22Speaker 3: Well Hi, Chelsea, what's up?
- 1:24Speaker 2: What's up?
- 1:24Speaker 1: I had a photo shoot yesterday for the cover of
- 1:26Speaker 1: Snow magazine, which is like a ski magazine. So I
- 1:30Speaker 1: had a cover so I was like, Oh good, I
- 1:32Speaker 1: don't have to worry about my body at all because
- 1:35Speaker 1: I'll be in ski clothes.
- 1:37Speaker 2: And then I woke up. I was so excited.
- 1:39Speaker 1: I'm like, yay, I just get to have to be
- 1:42Speaker 1: smiling and muffy thing.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Yeah, And then I.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Looked at the mood board for the photo shoot and
- 1:46Speaker 1: guess who's in a bathing suit on skis.
- 1:49Speaker 3: As Yeah, yeah, I can't.
- 1:52Speaker 1: I know, I know, I can't. How can I What
- 1:54Speaker 1: am I going to say to that I don't do that?
- 1:56Speaker 1: So then I got I was like, oh fuck. So
- 1:59Speaker 1: I texted my makeup artists and I was like, bring
- 2:02Speaker 1: body makeup. Obviously watching on your sore, conjuring everywhere. I
- 2:07Speaker 1: was like, I have cell you light in places that
- 2:09Speaker 1: are not cute, you're not used to.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Well, no, I'm not.
- 2:12Speaker 3: I'm used to it.
- 2:13Speaker 1: I've had it for a long time, but it's like,
- 2:16Speaker 1: you know, like you could prep yourself.
- 2:17Speaker 2: I don't know, it was just it ended up being
- 2:19Speaker 2: a great photo shoot.
- 2:20Speaker 1: The photographer was there and the first thing he said
- 2:22Speaker 1: to me was, I know you like to take your
- 2:24Speaker 1: time with everything, and then we all burst out laughing
- 2:27Speaker 1: because clearly he got the memo that everything is as
- 2:30Speaker 1: fast as possible, as quick as possible, and that's how
- 2:34Speaker 1: I like sex too, Let's go hurry up. So it
- 2:38Speaker 1: was actually ended up being a really good photo shoot.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I got some hot photos out of that, hopefully. I mean,
- 2:42Speaker 1: if not, they'll just have to retouch them.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean that's easy.
- 2:45Speaker 4: I'm not against that, just as long as I don't
- 2:46Speaker 4: use AI and give you seven fingers.
- 2:48Speaker 3: On one hand, Yeah.
- 2:49Speaker 1: I saw another bad AI this morning. It looks like
- 2:51Speaker 1: AI is having a meltdown, truly. There was a big
- 2:54Speaker 1: AI that came out last week right that got panned
- 2:57Speaker 1: because it was giving misinformation about former presidents and the states,
- 3:00Speaker 1: the names of states, like it was basic information. So
- 3:03Speaker 1: it was like sounded like it was crashing. But I
- 3:05Speaker 1: still don't even really understand AI and I do. It
- 3:09Speaker 1: does help me a lot with my Spanish. Oh that
- 3:11Speaker 1: I mean more than my Spanish instructure. Like when I
- 3:14Speaker 1: ask AI to can break down the difference between like
- 3:16Speaker 1: KDAR and you know another guardar, and because I don't
- 3:20Speaker 1: understand the difference, it will really I'm like, oh, this
- 3:23Speaker 1: is good INPROOD, but I try not to use it
- 3:26Speaker 1: because I heard that every time you use it, you know,
- 3:28Speaker 1: you're basically like killing you know, a far rounding trees.
- 3:31Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, when I try. This is actually good for
- 3:33Speaker 4: people to know because I don't like to use it either.
- 3:35Speaker 4: And Google sort of automatically makes you do it now,
- 3:38Speaker 4: So if you don't want to use AI, you can
- 3:40Speaker 4: type your search in like where are my tomato plants dying?
- 3:43Speaker 4: Which is what I typed in recently, and then you
- 3:44Speaker 4: do the little minus sign and AI. So you type
- 3:46Speaker 4: in your search minus AI and it won't give you AI.
- 3:49Speaker 3: For Google Yah and Chrome, yes, I think in Chrome.
- 3:52Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know what the difference is really,
- 3:55Speaker 1: but yeah, minus AI, I see, because it always says
- 3:58Speaker 1: AI generated Yes exactly. Okay, Well that's good to know.
- 4:02Speaker 1: At some point you're gonna have to explain to me.
- 4:03Speaker 1: What Reddit is and substack, because I somehow I'm a
- 4:07Speaker 1: member of substack, but yet I've never joined.
- 4:09Speaker 3: I actually think that I'm prepared to do that right now?
- 4:11Speaker 2: Oh okay, great, I am. Well.
- 4:13Speaker 1: You mentioned Reddit the other day during an interview and
- 4:15Speaker 1: you're like, you're all over Reddit to someone and I
- 4:17Speaker 1: was like, what I know.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Of course I heard. I've heard of Reddit, but I'm
- 4:20Speaker 2: not on it, So what do I say.
- 4:22Speaker 4: I didn't start using it that much until recently. But
- 4:25Speaker 4: basically Reddit is almost like people can go in and
- 4:28Speaker 4: post their opinions or ask questions, and like other people
- 4:31Speaker 4: will comment on it. So to use the same example,
- 4:34Speaker 4: like I can go in and say like, hey, why
- 4:36Speaker 4: why are my zucchinis.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Not growing properly?
- 4:38Speaker 4: And I'll have seventeen people be like, Oh, you need
- 4:40Speaker 4: to use this kind of fertilizer or you need to
- 4:42Speaker 4: water them more and they're not getting enough sunlight.
- 4:44Speaker 3: So it's like real people answering your questions.
- 4:46Speaker 4: And I'm finding it really helpful in the age of AI,
- 4:50Speaker 4: because half of the time an AI answer is wrong.
- 4:53Speaker 3: Right, is it? That's what I mean.
- 4:55Speaker 1: My cousins told me that Google's wrong too, like that
- 4:57Speaker 1: Google's just an aggregate of all this information so that
- 5:00Speaker 1: sometimes it gives you correct information and then sometimes it
- 5:03Speaker 1: just gives you random information.
- 5:06Speaker 3: That is true.
- 5:06Speaker 4: But I find AI is like kind of just going
- 5:09Speaker 4: and getting random stuff and like putting a little synopsis,
- 5:11Speaker 4: and it's.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Like like fifty percent of the time it's not true.
- 5:14Speaker 4: I find So this is actually real people answering your question,
- 5:17Speaker 4: which could also not be true.
- 5:19Speaker 3: That's that's true.
- 5:20Speaker 2: There's something.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Yeah, you have to take a little bit with a
- 5:22Speaker 3: grain of salt.
- 5:22Speaker 4: But it's also there's a dark side of Reddit where
- 5:24Speaker 4: there's like all kinds of bad stuff. You don't want
- 5:26Speaker 4: to go on that side of Reddit, Like what like
- 5:29Speaker 4: I don't I mean like nasty porn and stuff like
- 5:31Speaker 4: not normal porn, like not good.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Why can't there be one platform that's just good and nice,
- 5:36Speaker 1: don't know?
- 5:36Speaker 2: Why does everything go to shit?
- 5:38Speaker 1: That's why I'm scared of AI so much, because it's like,
- 5:40Speaker 1: of course there's going to be good stuff that comes
- 5:42Speaker 1: out of it, but there's going to be so much
- 5:43Speaker 1: bad stuff that comes out, so much bad stuff. When
- 5:46Speaker 1: I heard on that yeah that they have self preservation,
- 5:49Speaker 1: I was like, oh my god.
- 5:50Speaker 3: That the bad guys that AI.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Has basically been engineered now to understand, well, not intentionally,
- 5:56Speaker 1: but to understand that if you're shutting down a system
- 5:59Speaker 1: and replacing it with a higher performing, more nuanced system,
- 6:03Speaker 1: more and more comprehensive system, it will fight to remain alive,
- 6:06Speaker 1: like a fucking alien World war Z or like the Terminator.
- 6:11Speaker 3: I know we've had these movies before.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Like, yeah, we did, and that's where we got all
- 6:17Speaker 1: these ideas. I mean, talk about stupid and stupid.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Well, you know what.
- 6:21Speaker 4: On that note, let's have a little bit of a
- 6:23Speaker 4: nice transition into a nice response we got from a listener.
- 6:28Speaker 3: I can say nice a few more times if we
- 6:30Speaker 3: need to.
- 6:31Speaker 4: So Deanna called in on our Rachel Bloom episode several
- 6:35Speaker 4: months ago, and she had.
- 6:36Speaker 3: Lost a beloved dog and you advised her to get
- 6:38Speaker 3: a new one. Stet So she said.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Oh I forgot dog.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Oh shit, is he at home? Yes?
- 6:46Speaker 2: I forgot to bring him.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Oh my god, No, I forgot I meant to bring
- 6:50Speaker 1: him today anyway, Okay, go.
- 6:52Speaker 4: On, that's okay because one of our guests that we're
- 6:54Speaker 4: recording with today is actually bringing her dog.
- 6:55Speaker 3: So well, we all have a dog.
- 6:58Speaker 4: But she said, we did take Chelsea said, we met
- 7:01Speaker 4: and picked up our new lover today. His name is Jupiter.
- 7:04Speaker 4: We love hiking the mountains together. She's in Colorado. The
- 7:07Speaker 4: advice really helped and made us feel much less It
- 7:09Speaker 4: made me feel much less alone in my grief.
- 7:11Speaker 3: All the best, Deanna.
- 7:12Speaker 2: That's cute.
- 7:12Speaker 1: And then for a nickname, Juw, I mean that'll work
- 7:15Speaker 1: out nicely, excellent.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Preat preat.
- 7:23Speaker 4: Okay, So we do have a question, okay, caller, and
- 7:26Speaker 4: I think this is specifically a really good question for you.
- 7:29Speaker 3: So m Rossio is calling in from Rome. She Rome, Wow,
- 7:35Speaker 3: how did we work that time different?
- 7:36Speaker 2: So you know what? Actually?
- 7:37Speaker 4: Like our pre interview call was dangerously middle of the
- 7:41Speaker 4: night for her, but this one is like early evening.
- 7:43Speaker 4: So her subject line is should I fake a psychedelic trip?
- 7:47Speaker 4: Dear Chelsea, My name is Rossio and a forty six
- 7:50Speaker 4: year old single woman writing to you from Rome. I
- 7:52Speaker 4: need some advice and couldn't think of anyone better than
- 7:54Speaker 4: you for this one. I don't drink alcohol, never have,
- 7:57Speaker 4: I don't smoke, don't even drink coffee for that matter.
- 8:00Speaker 4: I just have never been interested in any of it.
- 8:02Speaker 4: I think it's mostly because I'm autistic diagnosed about fifteen
- 8:05Speaker 4: years ago. I've done my work in therapy and can
- 8:07Speaker 4: say I'm very happy where it has all led me.
- 8:09Speaker 4: I do still have some issues with OCD and letting
- 8:11Speaker 4: go of control. Some years ago, a friend of mine,
- 8:14Speaker 4: also autistic, suggested I take MDMA to help me with that.
- 8:18Speaker 4: I considered it for a long while, but never got
- 8:20Speaker 4: myself to do it. Back then, well, three years ago,
- 8:22Speaker 4: I was with a childhood friend who now lives in Barcelona.
- 8:25Speaker 4: He had just broken up with a boyfriend and was
- 8:27Speaker 4: sad and alone in Amsterdam. So I hopped on a
- 8:29Speaker 4: plane and joined him there for a couple of days.
- 8:31Speaker 4: It was there that he proposed we take MDMA together,
- 8:34Speaker 4: and without overthinking it too much for once, I just did.
- 8:38Speaker 4: For anyone who has experienced it, you know how amazing
- 8:40Speaker 4: your first Molly trip can be. From that day on,
- 8:43Speaker 4: me and my friend decided we would trip together and
- 8:45Speaker 4: help each other sort out our personal difficulties.
- 8:47Speaker 3: We trust each other.
- 8:48Speaker 4: And feel safe sharing our innermost thoughts without being judged,
- 8:51Speaker 4: and so it began. Every three months he would come
- 8:54Speaker 4: to Rome or I would go to Barcelona for our
- 8:56Speaker 4: spiritual retreats as we call them. We do this indoors
- 8:59Speaker 4: at home with our chill music, and it's done miracles
- 9:01Speaker 4: for us, truly life changing.
- 9:04Speaker 3: About six months.
- 9:04Speaker 4: Ago, I switched things up a bit by introducing LSD
- 9:07Speaker 4: into the picture. It blew our minds. If Molly had
- 9:10Speaker 4: helped so far, then LSD just took us to a
- 9:12Speaker 4: whole new level of awareness. The thing is, Chelsea, we
- 9:16Speaker 4: are talking big doses here, not microdosing. The last trips
- 9:19Speaker 4: have left me feeling physically off, and it takes me
- 9:22Speaker 4: days to recover. I'm also at a point in my
- 9:24Speaker 4: life where I feel the very best I've ever been.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Everything is perfect and I'm aligned just right. I have
- 9:29Speaker 4: an amazing life, a job I love, and loving friends
- 9:31Speaker 4: and family. I think I've done lots and lots of
- 9:33Speaker 4: soul searching and acceptance thanks to those substances, but I
- 9:37Speaker 4: think for now I'm done with them. My friend is
- 9:39Speaker 4: coming soon for our next scheduled trip at my place.
- 9:42Speaker 4: I'm really not feeling it this time. I don't have
- 9:45Speaker 4: the excitement I usually get when the day of the
- 9:46Speaker 4: trip approaches. I'm at a crossroads and don't know whether
- 9:49Speaker 4: I should just tell my friend I don't want to
- 9:51Speaker 4: do it, and be a party pooper, or maybe I
- 9:53Speaker 4: should just fake it. Yes, you heard right, I'm thinking
- 9:56Speaker 4: about faking the trip. As women, we know pretty darn
- 9:58Speaker 4: well how to fake many things. I know that if
- 10:00Speaker 4: I tell him I don't want to do it, then
- 10:02Speaker 4: he just wouldn't want to do it alone. For him,
- 10:04Speaker 4: it's either we do it together or nothing. He's been
- 10:07Speaker 4: really looking forward to it and counting the days, and
- 10:09Speaker 4: I know not being truthful about it is not nice,
- 10:11Speaker 4: but I do it just because the arrangements have already
- 10:13Speaker 4: been made.
- 10:14Speaker 3: I just don't know.
- 10:15Speaker 4: Am I overthinking? And should I just trip with him?
- 10:17Speaker 4: Should I explain and be a party pooper? Should I
- 10:19Speaker 4: just fake it and let him have his trip?
- 10:21Speaker 3: Chelsea? Please help?
- 10:22Speaker 2: Ros Ceo Hi, roe Ceo, Hi, Hi? How are you mine?
- 10:27Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 10:27Speaker 5: I'm so excited about this advice you're about to give
- 10:31Speaker 5: me because I'm really lost here and I thought this
- 10:33Speaker 5: was such a perfect question for you.
- 10:35Speaker 2: So it is a good question for me.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Right on the money.
- 10:39Speaker 1: First of all, I would always advise that if you
- 10:41Speaker 1: don't feel like doing a drug, do not do it.
- 10:43Speaker 1: You have to be in the right head space to
- 10:45Speaker 1: do a drug. You do not need to lie to
- 10:47Speaker 1: your friend. Your friend is going to understand that you're
- 10:49Speaker 1: not in the mood to do it if you've done
- 10:51Speaker 1: like you found something you loved and it sounds like
- 10:53Speaker 1: you really went for it enthusiastically, like with great intentions
- 10:57Speaker 1: of like having a great journey, and you've accomplish that,
- 11:00Speaker 1: and then you kind of took it farther and farther,
- 11:02Speaker 1: or I should say further and further. But you don't
- 11:06Speaker 1: need to push things like that. Like that's what we get.
- 11:09Speaker 1: We get greedy with the results of things, right. We
- 11:11Speaker 1: want we like something the way it affects us, We
- 11:14Speaker 1: want more of that. So it's like that dopamine hit
- 11:17Speaker 1: of something really clicking. But I would say, like, just ay,
- 11:20Speaker 1: don't worry about your friend making arrangements. You guys have
- 11:22Speaker 1: been through all of this stuff together. He's definitely going
- 11:24Speaker 1: to understand that you don't want to do it, and
- 11:26Speaker 1: he's most likely going to opt to not do it
- 11:28Speaker 1: and spend your time together in a different way. And
- 11:32Speaker 1: you know, have some backup plans ready. You're in Rome,
- 11:34Speaker 1: you have a million things you can do right.
- 11:37Speaker 5: Yes, yes, no, for sure. I mean I was also
- 11:39Speaker 5: worried about our friendship with friends from childhood, but in
- 11:43Speaker 5: the last few years it's only been about the trips, right,
- 11:47Speaker 5: And you're you great that if I take this element
- 11:50Speaker 5: out that he will feel like, I don't know, betrayed
- 11:53Speaker 5: or something, or that we won't that it won't be
- 11:55Speaker 5: as deep as it has been so far.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Now that's you being a woman and being hard scarred
- 12:01Speaker 1: by the world because you don't want to disappoint anyone.
- 12:04Speaker 2: That is being a woman.
- 12:05Speaker 1: That is like the badge that we wear, and we shouldn't.
- 12:09Speaker 1: It's not our responsibility. You have to take care of
- 12:12Speaker 1: yourself first and foremost, and your friend. Honestly, if he
- 12:15Speaker 1: got there and you were like listen, I mean you
- 12:17Speaker 1: could tell him beforehand, just to be like listen, I
- 12:19Speaker 1: know that things are planned, but I just have to
- 12:21Speaker 1: tell you I'm not feeling at this trip. If you
- 12:22Speaker 1: want to go ahead and do it without me, I'm
- 12:24Speaker 1: totally down with that, or we can hang out and
- 12:26Speaker 1: do not.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Do it this time.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Like I guarantee you he's going to be looked down
- 12:30Speaker 1: for that, and just be very honest about it.
- 12:32Speaker 2: And if he really isn't.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Okay with hanging out with you without tripping, first of all,
- 12:36Speaker 1: that's a whole new adventure that's going to be a
- 12:38Speaker 1: high of its own because you guys haven't done that yet,
- 12:40Speaker 1: And if he isn't okay with that, well then kind
- 12:43Speaker 1: of like that's not really your friend anyway.
- 12:45Speaker 2: It sounds like it was a drug friend. So I
- 12:47Speaker 2: really just.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Think you need to be true to yourself, your feelings,
- 12:50Speaker 1: your emotions, be a woman, and think of all other
- 12:53Speaker 1: women when you make decisions for yourself.
- 12:56Speaker 4: And I wonder if there's like something you can do
- 12:58Speaker 4: that's not drugs but like gives you sort of a
- 13:01Speaker 4: very novel experience or an endorphin high.
- 13:03Speaker 3: Like I mean, I don't know if there's like bungee
- 13:05Speaker 3: jumping home.
- 13:06Speaker 4: But like helicopter rid or like something that's like maybe
- 13:09Speaker 4: a little turisty, and really find something that's gonna like
- 13:13Speaker 4: give you that a flood of endorm.
- 13:14Speaker 5: Because I mean, because he's like very like hyperactive and everything,
- 13:18Speaker 5: and I'm very mellow. I'm very I'm like a lone wolf,
- 13:23Speaker 5: you know, I'm always in my space and everything. So
- 13:25Speaker 5: we compliment each other very well because I need to
- 13:31Speaker 5: explore more, you know, like the world in general, and
- 13:33Speaker 5: he needs to calm down. So that's like a really
- 13:38Speaker 5: nice dynamic we've always had. So by tripping together, I've
- 13:42Speaker 5: been able to open up more and he's been able
- 13:45Speaker 5: to have like less fomo and you know, like be
- 13:48Speaker 5: in the moment and everything. So yeah, I mean I
- 13:51Speaker 5: think I'm definitely ready to to let go of that phase.
- 13:57Speaker 5: You know, I've I've took it, as Chelsea said, very
- 14:00Speaker 5: as far as I could. You know, we went every
- 14:02Speaker 5: time like it was a crescendo, And honestly, it would
- 14:06Speaker 5: have been fine not taking all these heavy doses. But
- 14:10Speaker 5: also then I was trying to please him and he's like,
- 14:14Speaker 5: let's stick more, Let's stick more, and it just cut
- 14:17Speaker 5: to a point that it's not enjoyable.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Yeah, you overdid it and you have to be you
- 14:22Speaker 2: have to honor yourself.
- 14:23Speaker 4: Okay, Well, it sounds like you you got to the
- 14:26Speaker 4: place where what you were looking for from this you know,
- 14:29Speaker 4: experiment and from this adventure, you got to that point
- 14:32Speaker 4: you know your you're loving life. You feel refreshed and
- 14:35Speaker 4: like you don't need to do it anymore unless you,
- 14:37Speaker 4: you know, get a hankering down down the road.
- 14:40Speaker 5: No, I I just I mean, Chelsea's right, I think
- 14:44Speaker 5: it's just I'm just afraid to disappoint him more like
- 14:48Speaker 5: leave him behind. So I'm trying to please him more
- 14:51Speaker 5: like fake that I'm still at the point where he
- 14:55Speaker 5: is at. But I know I've outgrown it, you know.
- 14:58Speaker 5: So yeah, well that's great advice. I have to be
- 15:01Speaker 5: honest then.
- 15:02Speaker 1: And let him know before he makes the trip so
- 15:04Speaker 1: that he doesn't get mad at you for not telling
- 15:06Speaker 1: him before he got on.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Just let him know.
- 15:09Speaker 5: Go.
- 15:09Speaker 2: I still want to hang out. I think we can
- 15:10Speaker 2: figure out thing.
- 15:11Speaker 1: You can even like catalog if you haven't done this already,
- 15:14Speaker 1: and maybe you have catalog all of your journeys or
- 15:17Speaker 1: trips that you've hunt done together.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Maybe you could do like a.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Review, you know what I mean of everything, like a
- 15:22Speaker 1: full scale review of everything and really talk about the
- 15:25Speaker 1: first time the second time, what's changed for you, what's
- 15:28Speaker 1: changed for him?
- 15:29Speaker 2: Like another way to like kind of you know, have
- 15:31Speaker 2: some growth and like expansion, but without using the drugs.
- 15:35Speaker 3: I love that.
- 15:36Speaker 4: Or even you could see like a shaman or go
- 15:38Speaker 4: get reiki or do something else that's sort of you
- 15:41Speaker 4: have a sound bath, something that's spiritual.
- 15:42Speaker 1: I don't know about a sound bath. I think that
- 15:44Speaker 1: might be disappointing after an acid trip.
- 15:46Speaker 4: But whatever, you know, I've never don an asset, so
- 15:50Speaker 4: it sounds great to me.
- 15:52Speaker 5: Okay, well that's good advice, Thank you very much. I
