- 0:09Speaker 1: Inside the Birds is back. What's up, everybody. It is
- 0:15Speaker 1: Jeff Mosher, Adam Kaplan and as we promised, Andrew to
- 0:19Speaker 1: checko from Inside the Birds dot Com, and we are
- 0:22Speaker 1: going to wrap up the Eagles twenty twenty six NFL Draft,
- 0:26Speaker 1: give a little bit more intel on some of the
- 0:28Speaker 1: players that we've drafted, all that leftover stuff that we
- 0:30Speaker 1: get when we talk to people after the draft has done.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Discuss Jonathan Grenard's intro in his role a little bit.
- 0:37Speaker 1: I have some questions I wanted to bounce off of
- 0:39Speaker 1: you guys about Grenard, and we'll finish it off by
- 0:42Speaker 1: pointing out that the Eagles still have work to do
- 0:45Speaker 1: and what it is they've got to do between now
- 0:48Speaker 1: and the rest of the season to be where they
- 0:49Speaker 1: want to be. So Andrew, we haven't you know, we
- 0:53Speaker 1: promised our listeners we were going to have you on
- 0:55Speaker 1: during the draft. We didn't get you to Day three,
- 0:57Speaker 1: so we have you today. Just in general, what did
- 1:01Speaker 1: you take from the Eagles draft?
- 1:04Speaker 2: You know, initially with the Makai Lemon pick, I thought
- 1:07Speaker 2: that the compensation was a little steep, But then when
- 1:09Speaker 2: you start to really think about it, if that's a
- 1:11Speaker 2: player that you view as an impact kind of receiver,
- 1:14Speaker 2: a big time guy, you go and get him. And
- 1:16Speaker 2: the Eagles got one of the few true first round
- 1:19Speaker 2: picks in that draft class, so you have to feel
- 1:22Speaker 2: really good about that. They checked off a lot of boxes,
- 1:24Speaker 2: getting their tight end of the future, and I think
- 1:26Speaker 2: he has really interesting qualities moving him around formations to
- 1:30Speaker 2: me that just screams Sean Mannion. With that selection, they
- 1:35Speaker 2: got an offensive tackle on Mark kel Bell, who I
- 1:37Speaker 2: really liked, and wherever I was asked, I always would
- 1:40Speaker 2: say the day two tackle to keep an eye on
- 1:42Speaker 2: Mark hel Bell. This is what he does and more
- 1:44Speaker 2: of a developmental player, but I like it. One of
- 1:47Speaker 2: my favorite picks was in the seventh round, pick two
- 1:49Speaker 2: fifty one. Who are Bernard Who? It's just such an
- 1:53Speaker 2: unknown entity, But when you have six percent body fat,
- 1:56Speaker 2: you run a four to sixty three, you jump whatever
- 2:00Speaker 2: he jumped, And in my story I even wrote that
- 2:02Speaker 2: there was a time at a combine where he didn't
- 2:04Speaker 2: have shoes that fit him, so he jumped with socks
- 2:07Speaker 2: on hit a thirty eight inch vertical six foot four,
- 2:10Speaker 2: three hundred and six pounds. I can't wait to see
- 2:12Speaker 2: what he's able to do when the pads come on.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Yeah, Andrew, there were two things that Adam and I
- 2:17Speaker 1: probably just like if you listen to our pods, the
- 2:21Speaker 1: one that came out on Sunday, we couldn't stop ogling about.
- 2:23Speaker 1: And one of them was woor Bernard's like size and athletic,
- 2:27Speaker 1: his speed, his broad jump, everything, all of that. And
- 2:31Speaker 1: then the forty five and a half inch vertical that
- 2:35Speaker 1: stours John. I mean, I know that that doesn't always
- 2:37Speaker 1: mean anything, but it's still damn impressive for a tight
- 2:40Speaker 1: end to before anybody forget a tight end. Michael Jordan, right,
- 2:44Speaker 1: having a forty five and a half inch vertical is
- 2:47Speaker 1: just unbelievable. And who's arm Lane, Adam do we we
- 2:51Speaker 1: said with him and Holland Pearce need to take a
- 2:53Speaker 1: picture next week.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, Markaval is huge. But when you watch
- 3:01Speaker 3: this kid just kind of walk around and then jump.
- 3:05Speaker 3: He actually you see him where he was for the draft,
- 3:10Speaker 3: you see him explode like he's just jumped up, and
- 3:13Speaker 3: I'm like, wow, he really can jump just standing there.
- 3:15Speaker 3: It was really impressive kid. Really cool story with the
- 3:20Speaker 3: International Pathways Program and they you know, they've devoted resources
- 3:26Speaker 3: to finding guys from other countries who play football, and
- 3:30Speaker 3: I know they've looked high and wide for anyone who's
- 3:34Speaker 3: sort of off, just kind of off the radar that
- 3:38Speaker 3: they could find somebody like this. This is a guy
- 3:41Speaker 3: that would be like that who's not played football, really
- 3:43Speaker 3: organized football, that is. And they nailed it with Jordan Malatta,
- 3:48Speaker 3: which is obviously a home run. Incredible story, made a
- 3:52Speaker 3: lot of money, did a great left tackle. For the
- 3:54Speaker 3: most part. Now this kid, we have to see he's
- 3:57Speaker 3: good enough to learn the game. The good thing he's
- 3:59Speaker 3: twenty one and there's untapped talent of what we don't
- 4:04Speaker 3: know yet. And the good thing is he's got one
- 4:08Speaker 3: of the top three defensive line coaches in the NFL
- 4:10Speaker 3: and Clint Hurt to work with.
- 4:11Speaker 2: So speaking of Clint Hurt, something that Howie Roseman said
- 4:15Speaker 2: yesterday in the post draft availability is that Clint Hurt
- 4:18Speaker 2: went to Florida to work him out and Josh Weiru,
- 4:21Speaker 2: the other ipp player who projects more as an outside
- 4:25Speaker 2: linebacker pass rusher. He worked them out and when he
- 4:29Speaker 2: traded down from one ninety seven to acquire more picks
- 4:32Speaker 2: in the seventh round, the question, the way it was
- 4:35Speaker 2: framed to him, it was Yeah, that was with U. R.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Bernard in mind, have an extra pick to give you
- 4:40Speaker 2: the luxury of being able to take a player like
- 4:42Speaker 2: that knowing that you have that infrastructure in place that's
- 4:44Speaker 2: going to maximize the player development aspect of it.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Awesome. Interesting. You know you've talked about Lemon being a
- 4:52Speaker 1: true first round grade. I like the fact that he
- 4:55Speaker 1: can come in right away and contribute. He should be
- 4:57Speaker 1: able to. He's a very pro ready type of wide receiver.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Sometimes you see guys who are a little bit more developmental,
- 5:03Speaker 1: right and you're waiting he He is to me emblematic
- 5:08Speaker 1: of this draft because we've said it was not full
- 5:10Speaker 1: of superstars. I think just just talking to people around league,
- 5:14Speaker 1: Lemon has a very high floor, Like he can come
- 5:18Speaker 1: in and do what you expect a guy of that,
- 5:20Speaker 1: Like he's already polished, contested catches, he catches in tight windows.
- 5:24Speaker 1: He knows how to catch the ball well, run up
- 5:26Speaker 1: the field. So he's got a high floor. I don't
- 5:29Speaker 1: know how high a ceiling is compared to and I
- 5:31Speaker 1: would say that also about Tape, by the way, Entyson
- 5:34Speaker 1: compared to like Justin Jefferson, a Jamar Chase, you know
- 5:36Speaker 1: other guys who go in the first round. But the
- 5:38Speaker 1: fact that he because he's not gonna go outside and
- 5:41Speaker 1: win outside the way out like a Jamar Chase does,
- 5:45Speaker 1: Like he's not to me. I don't know if he's
- 5:46Speaker 1: ever gonna be like fourteen hundred yards and twelve touchdowns.
- 5:49Speaker 1: But Greg Cosel told us this is a draft of
- 5:52Speaker 1: a lot of really good number two wide receivers. Somebody
- 5:55Speaker 1: else Actually, I spoke around the leagus and the same thing.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Number two wide receivers. You'll be really happy with it.
- 6:00Speaker 1: And that's how I feel like you're you're gonna get
- 6:02Speaker 1: that with with Lemon as long as the adam the
- 6:05Speaker 1: skill set translates.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Yeah, he's The thing is you've got two guys can
- 6:09Speaker 3: go vertical and DeVante Smith and Hollywood Brown intermediate air.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Where Lemon really just dominates is that that's what he's
- 6:17Speaker 3: going to do for them when they go eleven personnel,
- 6:19Speaker 3: he's inside. Sure you could, you could reduce them. And
- 6:23Speaker 3: if you watch the USC tape, I mean it's very
- 6:26Speaker 3: you'll see him. You'll see him. It might be out wide.
- 6:29Speaker 3: He's moving in right for the snap just like Sean
- 6:31Speaker 3: McVay does. So, yeah, it's kind of interesting. You got
- 6:34Speaker 3: Stours there, who's an athlete. He's just got to learn,
- 6:37Speaker 3: you know, he's gonna have to learn at this level.
- 6:38Speaker 3: He's very new to the position, former quarterback. So the
- 6:41Speaker 3: good thing is they even when after the A. J.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Brown has completed that trade, they still have a ton
- 6:46Speaker 3: of pass targets, like a lot of guys who could
- 6:48Speaker 3: catch the football. And the other thing we haven't really
- 6:52Speaker 3: talked about, maybe the backs might catch the football for
- 6:54Speaker 3: a change. Come on, maybe I didn't say they would.
- 7:03Speaker 3: Three years ago we got full We've never seen anything
- 7:05Speaker 3: like it since, but in training camp. But what's happening.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Go ahead, I'm gonna say. What's interesting is that they've
- 7:12Speaker 2: added a couple interior receivers in Mackay Lemon and Eli
- 7:17Speaker 2: Stowers for a team that you know, over the last
- 7:21Speaker 2: four or five years hasn't necessarily tapped into that area
- 7:24Speaker 2: of the field. So I think that's going to be
- 7:26Speaker 2: really interesting to see how that manifests.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I was going to sort of bring
- 7:30Speaker 1: that up, but it's good to bring it up now.
- 7:32Speaker 1: In the whole you know what's left for the Eagles.
- 7:34Speaker 1: But surely the marriage here, that's the word I'm looking
- 7:38Speaker 1: for between what they now have as a passing offense,
- 7:42Speaker 1: which should be a lot more diverse than what we've
- 7:44Speaker 1: seen as far as being able to attack every level
- 7:47Speaker 1: of the football field with a variety of guys. Right,
- 7:50Speaker 1: the marriage between that and how the quarterback has liked
- 7:54Speaker 1: to play the game in previous years, Jalen Hurts, that's
- 7:57Speaker 1: going to be the interesting thing to watch. Does the
- 8:00Speaker 1: new offense, the new diverse set of weapons, the ability
- 8:04Speaker 1: to attack the field? Does that jibe Ken Jillen Hurts
- 8:08Speaker 1: use that to his advantage. You know there were games
- 8:11Speaker 1: at him. We talked about that Chargers game where he
- 8:13Speaker 1: made some absolutely beautiful over the middle of the fields
- 8:16Speaker 1: between the numbers throws. So we know he can do it,
- 8:18Speaker 1: but we also have seen a lot of games where
- 8:20Speaker 1: he just wouldn't if a guy's open. So it'll be
- 8:22Speaker 1: really he's there's no excuse here. He's got the weaponry,
- 8:25Speaker 1: he's got the offensive scheme to do it. He has
- 8:27Speaker 1: to show it now.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Yeah they're not you know people looking at are the
- 8:31Speaker 3: Eagles trying to send him the message? No, that's team's
- 8:34Speaker 3: dump to side. You know what, We're just going to
- 8:35Speaker 3: change the offensive send a message. No, they're trying to
- 8:38Speaker 3: take this offense to the next level. And you know
- 8:42Speaker 3: I would warran, folks, because it may not look good.
- 8:46Speaker 3: And the reporters get access to post draft mini camp
- 8:51Speaker 3: or an OTA and then the big, the big managery
- 8:53Speaker 3: camp you know, will all be at I'm sure if
- 8:56Speaker 3: it doesn't look good, that's okay. It's not supposed to
- 8:58Speaker 3: look good. It's a brand new offense. He's never starts,
- 9:00Speaker 3: is never playing an offense like this. But for it
- 9:02Speaker 3: to work, he must throw over the middle. It'll never
- 9:04Speaker 3: work if he doesn't. Now train camp for me is
- 9:07Speaker 3: really what I'm going to be paying attention. I'm not
- 9:09Speaker 3: gonna worry about what happens to the offseason. I know
- 9:11Speaker 3: how it works. It usually doesn't look good when you
- 9:14Speaker 3: install something new. But the good thing is you've got
- 9:18Speaker 3: short intermediate, and you've got vertical and plus, by the way,
- 9:22Speaker 3: Stowers can go vertical. So they've got a really good
- 9:25Speaker 3: group here of past targets. It's just a matter of
- 9:28Speaker 3: everyone getting comfortable. And again it's a new, brand new
- 9:30Speaker 3: scheme with brand new terminology. This is not terminology they've
- 9:34Speaker 3: had here before. That's right.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Your verbiage and everything. Day three guys added intel, let
- 9:39Speaker 1: me start to doing, Andrew, because I know you've caught
- 9:42Speaker 1: up with some people who coached Cole was Newski.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I talked to one of their coaches over there.
- 9:47Speaker 2: I oversaw the safeties, was a co defensive coordinator. And
- 9:51Speaker 2: the big takeaway that I got this is a highly,
- 9:54Speaker 2: highly instinctual and intelligent football player. He led position rooms
- 9:59Speaker 2: and when I asked about, you know, toughness and competitiveness,
- 10:02Speaker 2: which obviously are two qualities that the Eagles prioritize when
- 10:06Speaker 2: it comes to prospects. It's a couple of characteristics that
- 10:09Speaker 2: they prioritize. He cited a game against BYU where there
- 10:13Speaker 2: was a stomach bug going around the Texas Tech football
- 10:16Speaker 2: program and he had it really bad and it didn't
- 10:19Speaker 2: look like he was going to be able to go,
- 10:21Speaker 2: and he went, he played, and they said that was
- 10:23Speaker 2: his best game of the season, and he played all
- 10:26Speaker 2: but one snap in that game. So I mean that
- 10:29Speaker 2: that kind of speaks to what they're looking for there.
- 10:31Speaker 2: And then I also mentioned, you know, he's atypical when
- 10:34Speaker 2: it comes to size for the position at six three
- 10:36Speaker 2: to twenty linebacker background, what we're what does he do to
- 10:41Speaker 2: make up for the lack of you know, range or fluidity,
- 10:44Speaker 2: and he said he's a lot more fluid than people think.
- 10:48Speaker 2: And I have to go back, obviously and transcribe the quote,
- 10:50Speaker 2: but he went in detail as to what he does
- 10:54Speaker 2: to atone for the lack of sideline to sideline range
- 10:58Speaker 2: to you know, it suggests that that he'll be able
- 11:00Speaker 2: to be function on that area.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Yeah, it's sort of funny. By the way, how Howie Roseman,
- 11:05Speaker 1: I don't think. I don't think he intentionally meant to
- 11:06Speaker 1: do it, but he immediately brings up how Reid blanket Ship,
- 11:09Speaker 1: you know, nobody knew about him, And then it almost
- 11:11Speaker 1: felt like how he had to backpedal because he didn't
- 11:14Speaker 1: want to put like the whole you're the next reading
- 11:16Speaker 1: Blanketship label on on Wisz Newsky. So then he had
- 11:18Speaker 1: to spend the next two minutes like sort of backpedaling
- 11:20Speaker 1: away from it.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, that's that's hefty praise because Reid blanket
- 11:26Speaker 2: Ship started and won a Super Bowl and played a
- 11:29Speaker 2: ton of snaps. We know the story. But I think
- 11:32Speaker 2: that his calling card Cole was Newsky I'm talking about
- 11:35Speaker 2: is going to be on special teams and he didn't
- 11:37Speaker 2: have to do a ton of that in college, but
- 11:40Speaker 2: in the limited I did ask him about that, and
- 11:42Speaker 2: in the limited opportunities he was he thrived in those
- 11:46Speaker 2: drills because of the size, the physicality and the intelligence.
- 11:50Speaker 2: That's what you know, That's what the coach told me
- 11:53Speaker 2: that he brings to that area. So I have a
- 11:55Speaker 2: phone that he's going to make an impact there.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Well, if you're going to be a guy who Adam
- 11:59Speaker 1: right like may not fit the profile because certainly he's
- 12:03Speaker 1: his size and skill set is not what we have
- 12:05Speaker 1: seen in a Vic Fangio defense at safety, you might
- 12:08Speaker 1: as well do it at that position where right now,
- 12:11Speaker 1: right now, there's an opportunity to make the team if
- 12:15Speaker 1: you wind up proven that your skills translate and you
- 12:17Speaker 1: can excel on special teams.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, especially until they sign another one or
- 12:21Speaker 3: at you know, at someone by training camp, which wouldn't
- 12:24Speaker 3: surprise us if they do. But yeah, with Nowski has
- 12:27Speaker 3: like this rare. You know, again, with size, you don't
- 12:31Speaker 3: see safeties over six foot three, which he is. The
- 12:34Speaker 3: lake doesn't usually like that, which is why you don't
- 12:37Speaker 3: see a lot of guys who are that tall make
- 12:40Speaker 3: it but and when Warry's proven it, Kyle Hamilton's proven
- 12:43Speaker 3: we're not putting him obviously, we're not putting with Zowski
- 12:46Speaker 3: in their area. But there's an area where you can
- 12:49Speaker 3: get a tall guy in there who's got pretty good toughness,
- 12:52Speaker 3: good character, good processing as we understand it. And you
- 12:56Speaker 3: know he's not the athlete that he's nothing he can
- 12:58Speaker 3: do about that. But this is where coaching matters here,
- 13:02Speaker 3: and you got to trust Vic Fangio and they're defensive
- 13:06Speaker 3: back coaches here. We know that they lost one guy
- 13:09Speaker 3: who's now going to be the defense coordinator for the Cowboys,
- 13:11Speaker 3: but there's still there's a really good staff here and
- 13:13Speaker 3: I'm I'm telling you this kid's going to have an
- 13:15Speaker 3: opportunity because you've got right now, they don't know who's
- 13:20Speaker 3: going to start option Kouba Koba also got you're worried
- 13:22Speaker 3: about his build. We talk about this last year he
- 13:24Speaker 3: went up getting hurt significant injury. Michael Carter, as we
- 13:28Speaker 3: noted when at the trade he was going to be
- 13:30Speaker 3: frustrated safety. He was a four year starter. I believe
- 13:32Speaker 3: at Duke at safety and you know Andre Sam's is
- 13:36Speaker 3: a fourth safety, a special teamer only Jay Gray won't
- 13:38Speaker 3: play on defense and Brandon Johnson could play nickel or safety,
- 13:42Speaker 3: but they don't. They just don't have what I called
- 13:45Speaker 3: definition at that position. It's it's really as you said
- 13:48Speaker 3: as they sent it back to you, it's really wide
- 13:50Speaker 3: open the roles right now.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure. And the one thing we know that
- 13:54Speaker 1: Joe Casper is now the d Backs coach with Christian
- 13:57Speaker 1: Parker in Dallas, and he has a safety's background, so
- 14:00Speaker 1: that's a good thing for that position because of the
- 14:03Speaker 1: responsibility that he has. So eventually they'll figure it out.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Adam any leftover on day three, guys, whether it's the
- 14:10Speaker 1: guard from Georgia, Michael Morris or Cole Payton, anything that
- 14:14Speaker 1: you did we missed from the day before.
- 14:17Speaker 3: Yeah, you just I have some people on the combats
- 14:20Speaker 3: on YouTube or like they're getting on us. Here's a quarterback,
- 14:23Speaker 3: but we're not saying he's not. But he's a special
- 14:24Speaker 3: type of quarterback. Right, And as one person saw me,
- 14:28Speaker 3: if your greatest tape, it's interesting if you look at
- 14:33Speaker 3: his completed percentage, you go, well, it's very accurate. Watch
- 14:36Speaker 3: the passes, look where the ball is, look at the
- 14:38Speaker 3: pass placement. Right, You can't grade off of numbers. You
- 14:42Speaker 3: have to grade off tapers. That's why this is not baseball, right,
- 14:45Speaker 3: They're just throws that don't have enough juice or enough
- 14:49Speaker 3: energy is the coaching term. Mm hm. And he just
- 14:53Speaker 3: despite the size of athleticism, he doesn't have the arm
- 14:55Speaker 3: strength or the accuracy in terms of where it really
- 14:58Speaker 3: needs to be. Actually, is not just the percentage that's
- 15:01Speaker 3: part of it. It's what the tape shows you. If
- 15:04Speaker 3: there's a reason why you could talk about the competition
- 15:06Speaker 3: that that's not why. If he was that great Carson
- 15:09Speaker 3: Wentz went to the same school a great quarterback, he
- 15:12Speaker 3: would have gone first day. He's not. He's a quarterback.
- 15:16Speaker 1: He has eleven starts. He has started only eleven games.
- 15:19Speaker 3: That's another thing.
- 15:22Speaker 1: I mean, a comment, nobody who's a comment on YouTube
- 15:26Speaker 1: acting like they know what pytent well evaluators, because that
- 15:32Speaker 1: was one of the most confounding things for him is
- 15:33Speaker 1: they only had eleven games of tape. At a lower
- 15:36Speaker 1: level of football.
- 15:38Speaker 3: It would have been Hey, listen, ty Simpson only played
- 15:40Speaker 3: one year. If if it's special, he's going to go
- 15:42Speaker 3: the first day. Sure. Yeah.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Yesterday highlighted his athleticism and mentioned that when he was
- 15:48Speaker 2: watching his tape that there were a number of wow
- 15:51Speaker 2: plays watching Payton. Then that's the look.
- 15:55Speaker 1: At right now. He didn't say passes, he said please.
- 15:59Speaker 2: When you when you look at that, the size, you
- 16:01Speaker 2: can't help. But wonder if they could figure out a
- 16:04Speaker 2: way to accentuate what he does well, and he is
- 16:07Speaker 2: he is very athletic.
- 16:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Yeah. If anybody listened and thought we were trying to
- 16:12Speaker 1: convey a sentiment of being down on the pick, that's
- 16:14Speaker 1: not the case. We're just I was the one who
- 16:16Speaker 1: said I spoke to someone who was at his pro
- 16:18Speaker 1: day who watched a lot of tape on him. This
- 16:20Speaker 1: person and this person's team weren't sure he's a quarterback
- 16:26Speaker 1: in the truest sense of you want him, Like if
- 16:30Speaker 1: you get an injury and you have to stick him in,
- 16:32Speaker 1: can you have him throw twenty to thirty times a game.
- 16:35Speaker 1: He's just not there yet. So and like, I don't
- 16:38Speaker 1: know if you heard Andrew I reported we had information
- 16:42Speaker 1: that he was asked to do some non quarterback rules
- 16:46Speaker 1: at his pro day and he didn't want He did not,
- 16:48Speaker 1: which is fine. I wouldn't either if I want to
- 16:51Speaker 1: show people I'm a quarterback. And you're I'm not. I
- 16:53Speaker 1: don't want to open up the door to your chance.
- 16:54Speaker 1: I mean, for some people it can help, for sure,
- 16:56Speaker 1: it could help if they really are not going to
- 16:59Speaker 1: be a quarterback. But for others who really believe in
- 17:01Speaker 1: themselves as quarterbacks and don't want to give a team
- 17:03Speaker 1: an open door to move them, like two weeks into
- 17:06Speaker 1: training camp, then you say, no, I'm good, I'm a quarterback.
- 17:08Speaker 1: These are my drills developed me. That's your job, right.
- 17:11Speaker 1: So that that's all we're saying is that some teams
- 17:13Speaker 1: looked at him and they just weren't sure what to
- 17:16Speaker 1: make of his most NFL ready position to play, like
- 17:20Speaker 1: down the road, like can he be a quarterback? Or
- 17:22Speaker 1: is he a Taysom mill as Adam talked about like
- 17:25Speaker 1: a weapon that you're using.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Different from a scout who actually said he you know,
- 17:29Speaker 3: because they have to in their reports. They have to say, Okay,
- 17:32Speaker 3: how does he project? And he said Taysom hell because
- 17:37Speaker 3: he doesn't throw it well enough. He's got, you know,
- 17:39Speaker 3: the positives are obvious, just under six foot three. His
- 17:42Speaker 3: workout in the combine was really good. Okay, he's got
- 17:46Speaker 3: ideal size for the position. Andrew's ault isn't he what
- 17:49Speaker 3: twenty four? Is he twenty four?
- 17:51Speaker 2: I think he's he's gonna be twenty four.
- 17:53Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, so twenty four, NFL years six, two and
- 17:55Speaker 3: five a's two thirty two. He's built like a mack truck.
- 17:58Speaker 3: He's really thick, big hands, ten and a quarter. That's
- 18:01Speaker 3: a good size, right. His workout, what I love is
- 18:05Speaker 3: his his ten. His ten was actually really good at
- 18:09Speaker 3: one five fives. That beat some receivers guys. I mean,
- 18:12Speaker 3: that's surety. Our quickness is very good. But the tape
- 18:14Speaker 3: shows you there's there's just leaves you're wanting more that
- 18:18Speaker 3: he needs further development. But one thing we should add
- 18:21Speaker 3: is that Tanne mckeith's contract is up after this year,
- 18:23Speaker 3: and so is Andy Dalton. I'm not saying he's going
- 18:26Speaker 3: to be the two in twenty seven, but there's a
- 18:28Speaker 3: path to do something with his football team and they
- 18:30Speaker 3: have to figure it out.
- 18:32Speaker 2: And we should also mention that Parks Fraziers the new
- 18:34Speaker 2: quarterbacks coach this year, so that that that's going to
- 18:37Speaker 2: be a you know, I don't want to say a
- 18:39Speaker 2: tall task, but you know, it's something to keep an
- 18:41Speaker 2: eye on. And the great thing about all these evaluations
- 18:44Speaker 2: is we're going to find out an OTA's in training camp,
- 18:46Speaker 2: how they're taking to the coaching, and how far along
- 18:50Speaker 2: they are in terms of their development. Because Kyle McCord,
- 18:53Speaker 2: we saw that plainly. Adam and I I can remember
- 18:56Speaker 2: having those conversations. You could see it plainly that there
- 18:59Speaker 2: wasn't he wasn't taking the next step right. I mean,
- 19:02Speaker 2: it was kind of plateauing a little bit, and and
- 19:05Speaker 2: you know, he kind of played his way off of
- 19:07Speaker 2: the roster. I happen to think that Cole Payton's a
- 19:10Speaker 2: much better quarterback prospect than Kyle McCord based off of,
- 19:14Speaker 2: you know, the limited information that we have to go
- 19:16Speaker 2: off of, and I'm really interested to see how he
- 19:18Speaker 2: takes to this style of offense.
- 19:20Speaker 3: On that I just want to add this West Coast
- 19:22Speaker 3: offense on what you just said, short area run after
- 19:25Speaker 3: the catch, he can do that. It's after the after
- 19:30Speaker 3: a certain amount of yards, his balls lose energy and
- 19:34Speaker 3: you need you need someone who could process. We have
- 19:38Speaker 3: to see you mentioned limited games, but the past is
- 19:43Speaker 3: lose energy. That's going to be a problem. But you
- 19:45Speaker 3: know what, a lot of court I'm not saying he's
- 19:48Speaker 3: brock party but there are a lot of quarterbacks in
- 19:50Speaker 3: the national football He didn't have great arms, but can
- 19:52Speaker 3: make in the West Coast because you're not going to
- 19:54Speaker 3: ask him near it out.
- 19:55Speaker 1: So right, right, So, as far as some other guys,
- 19:59Speaker 1: you know, I sent a list of the Eagles Day
- 20:01Speaker 1: three picks to a personal person that I know, he's
- 20:04Speaker 1: an AFC personnel person, and just said, hey, any of
- 20:08Speaker 1: these names jump out, what do you think like there's
- 20:10Speaker 1: something of all of them? He thought the one who
- 20:14Speaker 1: had the best chance to stick would be Morris, Michael Morris.
- 20:19Speaker 3: Right.
- 20:22Speaker 1: He couldn't really explain why Morris would follow the sixth
- 20:27Speaker 1: round despite testing that well, because he agreed with me
- 20:30Speaker 1: that guys who have that kind of size and test
- 20:32Speaker 1: the way he did typically go higher. You know, there
- 20:35Speaker 1: was nothing about his tape that he could tell me
- 20:37Speaker 1: was really awful or anything. He did feel like there
- 20:39Speaker 1: were there was good guard value in rounds three to
- 20:43Speaker 1: four to five. So so other guys just got picked ahead.
- 20:46Speaker 1: But he did think that Morris has the type of
- 20:49Speaker 1: you know, the skill set to stick around and maybe
- 20:52Speaker 1: do something. And yes, he obviously recognized the athleticism that
- 20:55Speaker 1: Morris had.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Another guy, yeah, it might have to do with the
- 20:59Speaker 2: nineteen career starts five and twenty twenty four at right
- 21:02Speaker 2: guard in place of Tate Ratledge, and then he had
- 21:05Speaker 2: fourteen last year at left guard, and then you have
- 21:08Speaker 2: to look at and this is just something that I
- 21:10Speaker 2: noticed when going through the notes. At the combine he
- 21:13Speaker 2: weighed into three thirty four, but at pro Day he
- 21:15Speaker 2: was listed at three fifty. So it was something that
- 21:19Speaker 2: caught my you know, just kind of I know.
- 21:21Speaker 3: Said three fifty or three four? What are you? Three
- 21:23Speaker 3: fifty three fifty? Yeah, actually put weight on who.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Yeah, so that a lot as we all know, there's
- 21:30Speaker 2: not a lot of time that elapses from the combine
- 21:33Speaker 2: to Pro Day. So it was just something I made
- 21:35Speaker 2: note of. But it is also worth mentioning that he
- 21:38Speaker 2: went against Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis earlier in his career,
- 21:41Speaker 2: so that, you know, you talk about getting tossed into
- 21:43Speaker 2: the deep end. I think that that could certainly, uh
- 21:46Speaker 2: can help shape you a little bit.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Yeah. It's funny because Adam and I joked after the draft,
- 21:51Speaker 1: We're like, why is the why do these linemen that
- 21:53Speaker 1: they're drafting feel more like Steutling type guys? Because they're
- 21:56Speaker 1: just enormous road grading maulers than the new wave like
- 22:00Speaker 1: Shanahan style, undersized but more athletic. But Morris isn't really well,
- 22:04Speaker 1: he was a good athlete when he tested at a
- 22:06Speaker 1: at a certain weight. I guess, I mean he's he's
- 22:08Speaker 1: obviously put a lot on although no, I guess at
- 22:11Speaker 1: the combine is where he had those the athletic testing right, Yeah,
- 22:17Speaker 1: and still had a great workout.
- 22:18Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a little that is concerned that. Now. There's
- 22:21Speaker 3: a kind of a running joke in scouting circles. They
- 22:24Speaker 3: call it the banquet circuit when guys put on weight
- 22:26Speaker 3: from the the from like the combine to the pro day,
- 22:30Speaker 3: whatever the case may be. Sometimes it happens, by the way,
- 22:32Speaker 3: we're not we don't know exactly what happened, but yeah, exactly.
- 22:36Speaker 3: It'll be something to watch though, Andrew, now you mentioned this,
- 22:38Speaker 3: we're gonna have to watch that in training camp, how
- 22:40Speaker 3: heavy he looks if he once addressed They don't right now,
- 22:44Speaker 3: they don't have a like a backup guard like they'll
- 22:46Speaker 3: they'll tell you what Drew Kendall. Everything I've heard now
- 22:51Speaker 3: for nine months is like, Wow, he's really developing as
- 22:53Speaker 3: a backup center, and that's great, but they need a
- 22:55Speaker 3: backup guard. They don't have one.
- 22:57Speaker 2: No, they don't, they don't. I mean you have Drew
- 22:58Speaker 2: Kendall who you just mentioned, and he's a center by trade.
- 23:01Speaker 2: If you have to kick him out inside the guard,
- 23:04Speaker 2: could he do it? Maybe Jake Major's center by trade,
- 23:08Speaker 2: could he play guard? He's undersized for a center. And
- 23:12Speaker 2: then maybe you're looking at Tackles who you're now asking
- 23:14Speaker 2: to maybe cross train, but they don't have a true
- 23:17Speaker 2: backup guard. And now, Michael Morris, is.
- 23:20Speaker 1: That there you go? All by the way, that reminded
- 23:24Speaker 1: me of what you said, Adhaim. We've had I'm sure
- 23:26Speaker 1: separately in shared story, but like conversations with like personnel
- 23:30Speaker 1: people who have to take prospects out for dinners right
- 23:33Speaker 1: when they come visit. And the stories on those dinners
- 23:36Speaker 1: are like guys ordering like two steak dinners, like did
- 23:41Speaker 1: you imagine go into like Capitol grill and a guy
- 23:43Speaker 1: who orders like the big big ass like Ribbi and then.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Salmon. He's not going to order the salmon.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll take.
- 23:55Speaker 3: Demonica to go. Yeah. So look, it's something to watch.
- 23:57Speaker 3: A train of camp. Morris has got a lot of ability.
- 24:02Speaker 3: You love see you. You know, it's interesting, Jeff, we
- 24:05Speaker 3: talked about this a couple of weeks ago, where when
- 24:07Speaker 3: Howie was struggling or the other staffs were struggling, is
- 24:11Speaker 3: when they would take us some smaller school as well.
- 24:15Speaker 3: I mean, okay, North Dakota State. You know they've they've
- 24:17Speaker 3: had some luck there, you know that in South Dakota
- 24:20Speaker 3: State with with Goddard. Yeah, but it's going to Georgia,
- 24:23Speaker 3: going to that Georgia well where they've had a lot
- 24:25Speaker 3: of luck that perfect god for the ringo has not
- 24:27Speaker 3: and who they thought he was as a defensive player.
- 24:29Speaker 3: Truzell is a special team but not a defensive player.
- 24:31Speaker 3: But right, they're going to these big schools and they're winning,
- 24:34Speaker 3: like that's a big thing now.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Yeah, And in fairness to North Dakota State, they continuously
- 24:39Speaker 1: put all types of players in the NFL. I mean
- 24:42Speaker 1: not just the quarterback. I mean Christian Watson went there.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Who's the first round pick from the Lance went there?
- 24:47Speaker 1: Bryce Lance, the wide receiver was drafted. But Gray's able, right,
- 24:51Speaker 1: he was, he was the first round picker.
- 24:52Speaker 3: The Trey Lance, Trey Lance the quarterback yet.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Yep, and then didn't Cordell Wilson. I know he's not great,
- 24:58Speaker 1: but he went there? Did he not?
- 25:02Speaker 2: Did there?
- 25:03Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 25:04Speaker 2: I think you're right, Jeff, Yeah, I think you're right.
- 25:09Speaker 2: You remember C J. Smith right the cornerbacks CJ. Smith
- 25:12Speaker 2: with the English summer of the day.
- 25:15Speaker 3: You really are going far back.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Yes, it's not like it's not like taking a guy
- 25:19Speaker 1: actually from Adam Point, like from south to like getting
- 25:22Speaker 1: got her. That was really rare that you get a
- 25:24Speaker 1: guy from South Dakota uh in or South Dakota State,
- 25:26Speaker 1: but North Dakota State. You're starting to see more guys
- 25:29Speaker 1: in the NFL from there. Hey, Philly fans game day
- 25:31Speaker 1: is stressful enough. Parking, traffic, long lines, We've all been there.
- 25:36Speaker 1: But when it comes to your cannabis, Camden Apothecary makes
- 25:39Speaker 1: it easy. This is the dispensary for sports fans, just
- 25:44Speaker 1: minutes outside of Philly, with plenty of free parking. You'll
- 25:47Speaker 1: be in and out fast, no hassle, no waiting, and
- 25:50Speaker 1: they don't just care about convenience. Camden Apothecary is all
- 25:54Speaker 1: about the guest experience. Their staff makes sure you feel
- 25:58Speaker 1: taken care of every time you walk in. Plus They
- 26:01Speaker 1: carry only the best quality cannabis at the fairest prices,
- 26:06Speaker 1: so whether you're stocking up for the tailgate, the watch party,
- 26:09Speaker 1: or celebrating a big win, you know you're getting the
- 26:12Speaker 1: good stuff without overpaying. They even show love to the
- 26:16Speaker 1: community with specials for fans, students, service members, and healthcare
- 26:21Speaker 1: pros camedn Apothecary, Top quality cannabis, great prices, and an
- 26:26Speaker 1: experience made for Philly fans twenty one and up.
- 26:29Speaker 3: Yep, for sure.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I actually think that Michael Morris, I agree with
- 26:32Speaker 2: you guys. Out of the Day three prospects, I think
- 26:35Speaker 2: he has the best chance of sticking around. You'd like
- 26:38Speaker 2: the pedigree and the body type. I think his experience
- 26:42Speaker 2: playing at that level should really help him. And they
- 26:44Speaker 2: don't have a lot of pure guards that are backups,
- 26:46Speaker 2: all right.
- 26:47Speaker 1: So that's a good segue to finishing off this pod
- 26:49Speaker 1: and talking about what's left for the Eagles to do safety.
- 26:53Speaker 1: And I think when you listen to Howie Roseman, he's
- 26:57Speaker 1: really not hiding when he says like there's gonna continuously
- 27:01Speaker 1: He's basically said, we're gonna keep adding to that position,
- 27:04Speaker 1: and he keeps saying we add all the way up
- 27:07Speaker 1: until the week before the season starts. And that's why,
- 27:10Speaker 1: you know, he's made trades for like Ronald Darby and
- 27:12Speaker 1: Johan Dotson and of course whom I'm whom I'm forgetting
- 27:16Speaker 1: the big order Johnson right a safety there. So I
- 27:21Speaker 1: listened to Howard and I'm I'm pretty convinced he's going
- 27:24Speaker 1: to make more moves and he's got to get a start.
- 27:26Speaker 1: He has to get a starting caliber safety.
- 27:28Speaker 3: They do, and they have till training camp to do this. Really,
- 27:30Speaker 3: you don't want to wait, sort of a fallacy like, oh,
- 27:33Speaker 3: you could just get a Garden Johnson. Well that's luck.
- 27:35Speaker 3: It's sort of luck, right, Like you don't want to
- 27:37Speaker 3: you don't want to depend on that. Yeah, they need
- 27:40Speaker 3: someone by training camp at that position, but that honestly,
- 27:44Speaker 3: he he did what you should do at in free agency.
- 27:48Speaker 3: You the draft proofing is a little bit overrated. What
- 27:50Speaker 3: he did is free agency is typically about this year.
- 27:54Speaker 3: Very it's very There are very few times you're gonna
- 27:56Speaker 3: get a Saquon Barkley or a guy on a multi
- 27:59Speaker 3: year d that's going to stick around more than two years.
- 28:02Speaker 3: You know. It just there's a reason why these guys
- 28:04Speaker 3: become free agents. It's different than the NBA and MLBA
- 28:09Speaker 3: for sure, But right now, other than safety, because they've
- 28:13Speaker 3: they're good at receiver, they'll be fine. They're good with depth,
- 28:16Speaker 3: They've got versatility. Now, as we talked about before, Guard
- 28:18Speaker 3: something to watch though. They could use the next couple
- 28:21Speaker 3: of months and decide whether they think marsh will be
- 28:23Speaker 3: ready to compete to be the top backup guard. Quarterback.
- 28:27Speaker 3: They're good running back, they're good de tackle, theyir good edge.
- 28:29Speaker 3: They're good now with a Grenarch trade. We haven't really
- 28:31Speaker 3: talked about that. We could finish that off for a minute.
- 28:34Speaker 3: Cornerback for this season, they're fine. They have enough players.
- 28:38Speaker 3: Now when I say that, how fine? There are remains
- 28:41Speaker 3: to be seen. How they perform like Woolen, Could your
- 28:43Speaker 3: Corey Bennett actually contribute all? What if Jonathan Jones have left?
- 28:48Speaker 3: How good is Rake Woolan? But they have players, it's
- 28:51Speaker 3: going to be better than last year. How much better
- 28:53Speaker 3: remains to be seen?
- 28:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I think the guard to your point on, they
- 28:57Speaker 1: have some time to see. If Morris, I think you
- 29:00Speaker 1: got to get a veteran in there and he doesn't
- 29:02Speaker 1: have to make the team, he could be your practice
- 29:04Speaker 1: squad veteran that if you get an injury, you call
- 29:06Speaker 1: and he's able to play. It's just hard to pin
- 29:10Speaker 1: this particular backup spot because of the injuries to Landon
- 29:13Speaker 1: Dickerson h and even Cam Jurgen's right on a fifth
- 29:18Speaker 1: round rookie and it looks sixth round. Yeah, I mean,
- 29:23Speaker 1: we know they like Kendall. Kendall's center. I just would
- 29:27Speaker 1: I would be more comfortable if they really want to
- 29:29Speaker 1: be serious about their offensive line issues and correcting them
- 29:32Speaker 1: from last year about doing a better job of getting
- 29:35Speaker 1: a functionable, playable not Nick Gates. Like somebody who can
- 29:38Speaker 1: come in and play guard. You have confidence and he's
- 29:40Speaker 1: not just gonna click cobwebs you on your fifty three
- 29:44Speaker 1: or your practice squad. Somebody you can play.
- 29:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's good. I think backup guard is
- 29:50Speaker 2: still a need. Safety obviously, maybe defensive tackle, depending on
- 29:55Speaker 2: how they feel about Ty Robinson, because that they didn't.
- 29:57Speaker 2: I mean they added who are Bernard, But that's a
- 30:00Speaker 2: a project that's gonna that's gonna be it takes some
- 30:02Speaker 2: years most likely, So yeah, I mean I will look
- 30:05Speaker 2: at defensive tackle as well, depending on who they've added.
- 30:08Speaker 2: As he as undrafted free agency.
- 30:10Speaker 3: Right, But I would say this you got Barr Young
- 30:12Speaker 3: was a great story. They did Brack bring back Taekwon Graham,
- 30:15Speaker 3: who actually had some good staffs with Atlanta. It's really
- 30:17Speaker 3: I'm kind of with you though. It's a it's sort
- 30:19Speaker 3: of a passing need. They and they've gave half. Of course,
- 30:21Speaker 3: they really don't have to do anything. But Andrew's right,
- 30:24Speaker 3: Ty Robinson's he just was not ready. Very raw, explosive
- 30:29Speaker 3: but raw. He needs to take it. This is a
- 30:30Speaker 3: big offseason for him, a real big one. Yeah.
- 30:33Speaker 1: Absolutely. The big challenge for uar Bernard, by the way,
- 30:36Speaker 1: that's not people are gonna forget to mention, but this
- 30:38Speaker 1: is really vital for his development is staying healthy. Because
- 30:42Speaker 1: he may be a great athlete, he may be exactly
- 30:45Speaker 1: fit for the position size wise, but as Jordan Mailata
- 30:48Speaker 1: found out trying to play football for the first time
- 30:50Speaker 1: and having the back issues that he had, when you
- 30:53Speaker 1: actually start putting on the pads and getting hit every
- 30:56Speaker 1: single day and you've never done that before, you didn't
- 30:59Speaker 1: do it Pop War, you didn't do it high school,
- 31:02Speaker 1: middle school, college, you've never played football before, and you
- 31:06Speaker 1: start taking NFL style hits as your first your body
- 31:09Speaker 1: is going to react accordingly. So it's gonna be up
- 31:13Speaker 1: onto the strength and training staff to make sure that
- 31:16Speaker 1: they're allowing this guy to develop and he's not on
- 31:19Speaker 1: the sidelines all the time.
- 31:20Speaker 3: The term, right, the term is called building up a
- 31:22Speaker 3: callous you. You learn how to handle the physical play.
- 31:28Speaker 3: It's gonna be I don't care how great of shaping
- 31:30Speaker 3: you're in, you're gonna absorb, You're gonna you're gonna be
- 31:33Speaker 3: in pain. I mean, he's just it's he's got to
- 31:35Speaker 3: learn how to do it. And with my lot, he
- 31:37Speaker 3: had a he had pre existing back issues, as I recall,
- 31:41Speaker 3: and it took him a while to get over that.
- 31:42Speaker 3: You know, it plagued him for the first couple of years.
- 31:45Speaker 3: But yeah, this is uh, I'm feeling a lot better
- 31:49Speaker 3: than I did at this time last year. I just
- 31:52Speaker 3: last year, I thought, how he I understand it. As
- 31:56Speaker 3: we outline, we were correct that he had a major
- 31:58Speaker 3: cash budget issue, like they cut his cash budget cash bend.
- 32:03Speaker 3: But that doesn't that's no excuse for not evaluating better,
- 32:05Speaker 3: just that he missed on a bunch of one year deals.
- 32:08Speaker 3: I just feel like this is a better group of
- 32:11Speaker 3: one year deals. M hm, and that to me, that
- 32:14Speaker 3: and that's part, that's a big part of this team
- 32:16Speaker 3: once again.
- 32:17Speaker 1: Yeah, yep, all right, anything else left for that? I
- 32:22Speaker 1: do agree with you. I think that the Eagles, unless
- 32:25Speaker 1: they make some kind of trade or big time movement
- 32:27Speaker 1: say it, which I don't think they're gonna do. I
- 32:29Speaker 1: think they're gonna get a functional safety, but I imagine
- 32:31Speaker 1: that they'll they'll start training camp right and teams like
- 32:35Speaker 1: the Seahawks and the Rams will probably get a little
- 32:38Speaker 1: bit more love from from Vegas or the odds makers
- 32:40Speaker 1: can't say Vegas anymore because these plays are all over
- 32:42Speaker 1: the place. But I agree with that him sentiment. I
- 32:45Speaker 1: think getting Grenard that's what I wanted to leave you guys.
- 32:48Speaker 3: With Grenard.
- 32:49Speaker 1: I'm very curious about him because he's a really good
- 32:52Speaker 1: pass rusher. You could basically say, like, if you want
- 32:55Speaker 1: to do stat for stat or per sac per game,
- 32:58Speaker 1: line it up with Jale and Phillips. He'll be pretty pleased.
- 33:01Speaker 1: I mean, his SAC numbers have been good, as pressure
- 33:03Speaker 1: numbers have been good. His win rates been good. But
- 33:05Speaker 1: the one thing we've seen is that you come to
- 33:08Speaker 1: the Eagles and Vic Fangio doesn't care what you've done
- 33:11Speaker 1: in the past. He only cares are you doing what
- 33:14Speaker 1: he wants you to do. And we've seen some players
- 33:16Speaker 1: like Bryce hoff but not just Bryce Huff. I mean
- 33:18Speaker 1: even even uh Ocelari last year when healthy had trouble
- 33:22Speaker 1: getting on the field and showing what he did show
- 33:24Speaker 1: as a giant, which was when healthy, I think he
- 33:27Speaker 1: had the highest sack rate and win percentage among all
- 33:30Speaker 1: the edges that they have at the time. He just
- 33:32Speaker 1: was very rarely healthy. So I do wonder with him
- 33:35Speaker 1: coming off his shoulder surgery. Andrew he said he's still
- 33:38Speaker 1: rehabbing it right, not surgery. I shouldn't say surgery. He
- 33:41Speaker 1: just hed good. Yeah, I do wonder, like you had
- 33:48Speaker 1: a guy in Jayleen Phillips was perfect because he played
- 33:50Speaker 1: for VIC before. I mean, I think every time they
- 33:52Speaker 1: do this and bring in a new guy, there's always
- 33:54Speaker 1: gonna be that element of VIC don't care what his
- 33:57Speaker 1: contract just got signed for. He cares if this guy's
- 33:59Speaker 1: gotting playing it.
- 34:00Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, fair question. Yeah. Well, look, he's a
- 34:05Speaker 3: it's not like he hasn't done this before. He's a
- 34:06Speaker 3: stand up edge. That's what he It's what he's done
- 34:09Speaker 3: in his career. For the most part, he did in Minnesota. Now,
- 34:12Speaker 3: he missed five games last year, and remember before they
- 34:16Speaker 3: shut him down for the rest of the season, he
- 34:18Speaker 3: was dealing with this injury for like a bit, like
- 34:21Speaker 3: three or four weeks, and he wasn't himself in the
- 34:23Speaker 3: second half of the season, So that's part of it.
- 34:25Speaker 3: So and he did talk about that he just missed
- 34:28Speaker 3: some sacks. He he looks at he you know, he's
- 34:30Speaker 3: very he's really like a Hall of Fame guy. Talking
- 34:33Speaker 3: to people have worked with him, it's the greatest dude.
- 34:35Speaker 2: Oh that will Adam. I got to tell you, you know, listen,
- 34:38Speaker 2: being there for that press conference, it was very evident
- 34:41Speaker 2: that he is exactly what the Eagles look for in
- 34:44Speaker 2: terms of character, leadership qualities. He's going to fit right
- 34:47Speaker 2: into that locker room. And then it just becomes how
- 34:50Speaker 2: do you bounce back from a down season? And I
- 34:53Speaker 2: think that that was the best move that they've made
- 34:55Speaker 2: this offseason on paper.
- 34:57Speaker 3: Yeah, honestly, Jeff, when they brought Robert Quinn and okay,
- 35:01Speaker 3: that was a big time for Vision, but he had
- 35:03Speaker 3: he had significant injury concerns and unfortunately Loops came to fruition.
- 35:06Speaker 3: This is Gernard's first bad injury. Okay, he had it
- 35:10Speaker 3: taken care of. You know, he's still rehabing it. I mean,
- 35:14Speaker 3: you know, I know, I know, you know. I read
- 35:16Speaker 3: some of the YouTube comments. Some people are really pissed off.
- 35:17Speaker 3: They don't like the trade. Well, you have to understand
- 35:20Speaker 3: a couple of things. They couldn't get jail and Phillips,
- 35:24Speaker 3: who weren't going to pay him. Okay, they they redid
- 35:25Speaker 3: Grenard's deal. They he had to get more money. He
- 35:27Speaker 3: was ridiculously thirty eight million dollars left for the final
- 35:30Speaker 3: two years. No that it was guaranteed, so they you know,
- 35:32Speaker 3: they they redid it. It's still save money, actually significant
- 35:38Speaker 3: amount of money, what comparably to what Phillips would have been.
- 35:41Speaker 3: So Phillips got a ton of guaranteed money, over fully
- 35:43Speaker 3: guaranteed money, over eighty million, which is insane. He had leverage. Okay,
- 35:47Speaker 3: agent did a great job, but this guy's had proven player.
- 35:51Speaker 3: There's no reason to think he can't back to where
- 35:53Speaker 3: he was. And they didn't give up it too. Remember
- 35:56Speaker 3: the Eagles were insistent. Minnesota wanted it to for two
- 36:00Speaker 3: Eagles were not going to do the trade unless it
- 36:02Speaker 3: was what they went up getting, you know, right, Well,
- 36:05Speaker 3: here's yeah, here's.
- 36:08Speaker 2: The other part of it is, yes, they needed edge
- 36:11Speaker 2: rusher help. But to expect a second round pick, even
- 36:13Speaker 2: a first round pick to step in there and give
- 36:16Speaker 2: you Jalen Phillips like production, I mean, that's just not
- 36:19Speaker 2: realistic to me. The most logical fit was always to
- 36:22Speaker 2: add a veteran who's coming in with that experience, who
- 36:24Speaker 2: can absorb a lot more snaps and take a little
- 36:27Speaker 2: bit of pressure off Jay Looks Hunt and Nolan Smith.
- 36:30Speaker 2: So I think that adding it just felt like that
- 36:32Speaker 2: adding a veteran of that ILK was inevitable.
- 36:35Speaker 1: All right, great stuff. That is a really good recap
- 36:38Speaker 1: of what the Eagles have done and what they still
