  My voice got very high for a moment.

  It's very exciting. That's what happens when you get

  excited, right? Because it is the end of the

  week. You've made it through another

  one and we are on the precipice of another weekend.

  Another moment to catch yourself, catch your breath, get
• 0:33
  to do some things that you love as we rest and restore.

  I hope that is your experience of the weekend ahead because

  today we get to read a Sam. And not just any old Sam, but we
• 0:46
  are up to the Sam wedge between the shortest and the longest
• 0:50
  Psalms in the Bible. This is Sam 118.
• 0:53
  It is a Psalm of Thanksgiving, praising God for His loyal love
• 0:59
  for us. He is a good God and there is
• 1:02
  lots to praise him for. And so that is what the psalmist
• 1:06
  decided to do in this Psalm. So we are going to read it
• 1:09
  together, not twice because, well, this is almost 30 verses
• 1:13
  long. It's a bit of a longer one, not
• 1:15
  like last week's, but we will get into the rhythm with the
• 1:19
  psalmist as we give thanks to our great loving God.

  All right, friends, let us read it together some 118.

  Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.
• 1:41
  His faithful love endures forever.
• 1:45
  Let all Israel repeat. His faithful love endures
• 1:49
  forever. Let Aaron's descendants, the
• 1:52
  priests, repeat. His faithful love endures
• 1:56
  forever. Let all who fear the Lord
• 1:59
  repeat. His faithful love endures

  forever. In my distress I prayed to the

  Lord, and the Lord answered me and set me free.

  The Lord is for me, so I will have No Fear.

  What can may people do to me? Yes, the Lord is for me.

  He will help me. I will look and triumph at those

  who hate me. It is better to take refuge in
• 2:26
  the Lord than to trust in people.

  It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in

  princes. Though hostile nations

  surrounded me, I destroyed them all with the authority of the

  Lord. Yes, they surrounded and

  attacked me, but I destroyed them all with the authority of

  the Lord. They swarmed around me like

  bees. They blazed against me like a

  crackling fire, but I destroyed them all with the authority of

  the Lord. My enemies did their best to

  kill me, but the Lord rescued me.

  The Lord is my strength and my song.

  He has given me victory. Songs of joy and victory are

  sung in the camp of the godly. The strong right arm of the Lord

  has done glorious things. The strong right arm of the Lord

  is raised in triumph. The strong right arm of the Lord

  has done glorious things. I will not die.

  Instead, I will live to tell what the Lord has done.

  The Lord has punished me severely, but He did not let me

  die. Open for me the gates where the

  righteous enter and I will go in and thank the Lord.

  These gates lead to the presence of the Lord and the godly enter

  there. I thank you for answering my

  prayer and giving me victory. The stone that the builders

  rejected has now become the cornerstone.

  This is the Lord's doing and it is wonderful to see.

  This is the day the Lord has made.

  We will rejoice and be glad in it.

  Please, Lord, please save us. Please Lord, please give us

  success. Bless the one who comes in the

  name of the Lord. We bless you from the House of

  the Lord. The Lord is God shining upon us.

  Take the sacrifice and bind it with chords on the altar.

  You are my God and I will praise you.

  Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good.

  Our Lord, we do give you thanks. And we are inspired by the

  example of this psalmist that when things go well, when this

  king marches into battle and is victorious, he doesn't claim
• 5:07
  victory for himself, but he praises you for the victory.

  So for everything in our lives that is going well, we praise
• 5:16
  you. For every good gift that we
• 5:18
  have, we lift you up. And when times are difficult and
• 5:24
  you grow our character through trials and tribulations, Lord,
• 5:30
  we praise you when we give you thanks because you are good.
• 5:36
  Your faithful love surely does endure forever.
• 5:43
  Thank you for the gift of your Spirit.
• 5:46
  Thank you for the gift of Jesus. Thank you that you dwell in us,
• 5:52
  You rule over us, and you come to save us.
• 5:56
  What a beautiful God you are. We pray all of this in your
